Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.    Psalm 139:14 KJV

YOUR GREAT BODY

Did anyone ever tell you that you have a great body?

One man tells of visiting a lumberyard to buy posts for a new hammock. "How long will the posts last once they are sunk in the ground?" he asked the clerk.

"Longer than you will," the sales clerk responded.

Another customer who was standing nearby grinned and asked, "Did it ever occur to you that he might be saying that you're not looking all that well?"

Whether you look or feel all that well, you DO have a great body. Did you know
that...

Today --

Your heart will likely beat over 100,000 times?
Your blood will travel about 168,000 miles?
You will breathe about 23,000 times?
You will eat over three pounds of food?
You will drink three pounds of liquids?
You will turn in your sleep 25-30 times?
You may speak about 48,000 words?
You will use some 7,000,000 brain cells?

You see? You have a GREAT body! It is a miraculous machine. It runs on peanuts and even regenerates itself. With good care, your great body can serve you for years to come.

But, it will occasionally get sick or run down. Especially if you neglect it. So it pays to take care of this marvelous machine.  Repairs are expensive and used parts are hard to come by.

Today... what will you do for yourself? Will you pick up that exercise regimen you may have put off? Will you choose sensible foods and get enough rest? Will you treat your body as the friend it really is?

Do it today -- for a great future!

At the beginning of a new year, are we thinking about how very marvelous and intricate our human bodies are?  Or are we looking in the mirror and bemoaning the fact that we put on a few pounds over the holidays?  Yes, we need to take care of our bodies, of course we do, but we also need to take the time to thank God for making us.

Have you ever thought of the many things our bodies cast off or heal themselves from, without any conscious thought from us?  Have you thanked your Father for protecting you from the thousands of ailments you DIDN'T get?

Let's take time this week, not only to make wise choices in eating, exercise, and thoughts, but to be aware of the wonderful temples He gave us to live in while we are on this earth, and to give Him our wholehearted praise.  He is infinitely wise and unfailingly loving.  What an awesome God we serve!

Janet, as I was reading your devotional, my mind raced back to the day in 1981 when I was having my first heart catharization test. They were so certain I had blockages that they had already placed me first on the surgery schedule for the next day.

Well, I was freezing because the room we were in for the test was really cold, as are most surgery settings. As the dye was administered and the warmth of the dye began to course through my veins, I remembered my studies of the circulatory system - first the heat was in my head, then traveled down the right side and into the right leg, following on to the left leg and back up.

It was an awe-inspiring moment! And, I told the doctor of my experience and asked if she was going to do the injection of dye again. She laughed and said that no one had EVER asked her that question before - usually the warmth of the dye frightened them. Then, I quoted the verse, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made..." and, as I was quoting it, she finished up with me.

What a great experience to remember. (And, I had NO blockages - so I'm really, really thankful.)

I am back home again in Indiana.  Tra la la la la!!  Whew!  I think I am getting too old to be in that pace all the time.  Five kids in the house all doing their own thing.  But the reason for going to Ohio was to attend two Baby Showers.  All I can say right now is this new G-grandson of Ivalou's has everything he needs and more and he is still in the womb!!

I am tired so I won't comment on everyone's post.  Just that I will be glad to be in my own bed tonight.

Hi, all.

Pat, I enjoyed your pictures on your blogspot.  Your New Planet is so cool.
I wrote to you about posting comments for those who aren't blogspotters. :)

It's still really cold here.  I thought the snow might melt today, but what snow we have is hanging on and ice is staying frozen.

Jane, do you still have snow over there?  You have lots of wood, don't you?

The electrician got the new wiring put in upstairs, and I found some carpeting I like and have that now.  My son has to put up the sheet rock, we paint, and lay carpet.  Then Sue can have her room back.  The carpet color is Irish Isle.  You might know it's a real pretty green. :)

I've never heard of WD40 for arthritis, but I'll tell my sister.  I smell like Vicks sometimes.  I might has well add a fragrance of WD40. lol

It's fun reading all the comments.   Nita

Pat

What an interesting devotional, Janet!  "Fearfully and wonderfully Made" is the title of a great book by a Christian doctor.  Each time my Dad had surgery, he gave the surgeon a copy of this book.  And he prayed before doing it that the surgeon would accept it with the love and care that my father had in giving it.

Ruth, I know that feeling.  Back in the early 1980's, I was being treated for chronic pain and part of the treatment was chloroprocane by I.V. and I had a similar experience every week as it travelled through my body.

Welcome home, Etta Sue.

Thanks Nita for your email.  I will open it again to Anonymous posters and see if the pornos will stay away.  I've deleted a few posts this past week so closed it to Anonymous posters because of that.

Morning All,

I figured I'd better get in now and catch up on the reading. It is raining here and it's freezing on everything. I'm hoping we don't lose power for Michael's sake due to all his equipment.

Welcome home Etta Sue! Glad you made it safe and sound. <3

Hi Pat ~ the phrase is special to me because of Michael, he is "fearfully and wonderfully made!" And God knows the reasons and his purpose in our lives!

Hi to everyone! 8)  I pray everyone has a God filled and blessed day!

Not many posts since I last posted but then it was rather late when I posted last!

I woke to much, much rain and ponds and puddles.  West of me where there is always a lake after it rains, the water is right at the edge of the road.  I don't believe I have ever seen it that high since living here.  And there is water standing where I turn to go into my garage.  Sooooo much water.  And the sump pump is turning on about every 4-5 minutes due to water seeping through the walls of the basement.  Whew!  Enough is enough.

And I am sorry...I know that others in this nation are suffering more due to their weather.  Snow, ice, cold.  Here it is 41°F and very, very wet!!  So really I have nothing to complain about.

I am planning to take my cordless drill to Ivalou's today.  She received an under the counter radio/CD player but doesn't have a drill to install it.  So maybe two heads and four hands can get the job done.

Then it is veg out in front of the TV.  Behind 8 hours of TV shows since I was gone this weekend.  Some I may delete...some just listen to while I do something else, like the Gaithers.

Sue

Good Morning.

I woke early this morning as has a test at the hospital to get to before work.  I had to leave much extra time to get there as winter in Southern Ontario is making itself known with freezing rain.  Many buses and schools were cancelled.  My parents have a day off as a result.  I didn't see any accidents on my way and was thankful for that, although many were announced on the radio.  Everything that I experienced was slow and careful and lots of space between vehicles.    Now I must get busy and get on with my work day.

Janet

Good morning!  It seems after several unusually mild years, Old Man Winter is having his cold blast.  It is ONE DEGREE F here, so I doubt I will spend much time outdoors today.  :)

Nita, that is so interesting about your feeling the dye going through your system.  I had that dye once, when I lost a kidney, but I was too sick to feel what it was doing.  Glad you didn't have any blockages!

Pat, I enjoyed looking at the photos on your blog, or PDA.  Very nice!

Sue, so happy you got safely to work.  Driving on ice is so treacherous!  And I'm sure your parents will enjoy a day off.

Etta Sue, are you going to need to invest in a rowboat?  ;)  Stay warm and dry, will you?

I need to rework my presentation for the lions club, so be back later!

Hello all!  I was thinking about you last night and decided to pop in and say hi!  Kristi is growing like a little weed, and is learning to talk-- she tries to say everything big brother says.  It is hard to believe that she will be two in about 3 weeks. . .

Travis turned 5 last week.  He is starting to really grow up.  He is playing Upward Basketball this year.  I was afraid his "shyness" (of which he has plenty) would keep him from going out on the court, but Saturday morning, he just went out there like a pro.  Of course, he thinks he is a pro. :)

Bernard is still working alot, though it has slowed down a little in the past few weeks.  I'm still running thirty directions west of Wednesday, but am learning some time management skills.  Actually, it is probably more accurate to say I am *implementing* some time management skills.

Hope all is going well for you.  I'm not in here much, but I do think of you frequently.  Take care.

Love,
Karma

Good morning I have been to Curves and now I am ready for work. Ruth wants me to take her to the Casino toady for some gambling. I do not gamble and I told her that. She wants my help to put the money in the machines as she is legally blind and can't see to do it herself. I have been praying about this situation and it is not something that I care to put myself into. I am prayed up if I can't change her mind to go some place else. Keep me in your prayers today PLEASE!! Cover me with the blood of Jesus, I don't want anything negative to latch on to me.

Hi Karma good to see you hear again.

Everyone have a great day.

Ruth Ann It is interesting that you had that experience.  My last test not like yours, was not so pleasant.  Rhe results turned out good though.

It is snowing here today, cold too.  Schools are in today and the south is on a snow day, That  is unusual.   Usually it is the other way around.  That is good for your mom and dad Sue.  Tell your Mom she is missed on CP.

Well the pastor's baby in not born yet.  We are praying all will be well.  She was due on the 11th,  I know that the last month seems to never end.

Janet I enjoyed the devotional.  I am teaching those facts to the girls in Health, and they are memorizing the verse Ruth Ann quoted.  It is a marvelous verse.

Marilyn you are in a difficult spot.  I am not sure what I would do.  Off the cuff I would refuse, but if your job  would be in jeopardy then it would be hard to make that call.  Do you have a mandated list of responsibilities?  If so see if you can refuse because it isn't on the list?  I know of Christians who gamble, but I don't..... Will be praying.

Karma enjoy these days with your little ones......they pass so quickly.

I am sorry if I have missed anyone, just know I am praing for each of you.

Blessings JudyB

Nita

Janet, I think it was Ruth Ann with the dye experience. :)

Pat, I sent you another email.  I found that I can post to your blog.  I'm sorry about the porn stuff that's been posted.  No wonder you don't want to have a way for an anonymous posting.

I do believe we might thaw out today.           Nita

Janet

Nita, you are absolutely right!  :-[  Just chalk it up to brain overload.  I was trying to hurry so I would have time to work on my notes.  Or maybe you were thinking of me just then?!?  ;)

We are clear up to 15 degrees now, from 1 when I first turned on my computer this morning.  A real heat wave!!  ^-^

Judy, the entire verse is at the beginning of the devotional today.  ;)  Stay warm!

Hi, friends,

I'm enjoying a laid-back day at home. And, since the temperatures are supposed to drop 40 degrees today, I'm glad I'm here, not out in the weather. It's raining a very cold rain, but should stop before the frigid air reaches us, so maybe driving will be safe tomorrow.

Sue, I agree - slow and easy with lots of room between vehicles is the only way to get around in icy conditions.

Y'all have a nice afternoon.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE![/glow][/color]

A wonderful devotional, Janet! I love reading statistics about the operation of the human body as it leaves me in even greater awe of our Creator. It's good too, to care for the precious recourse of our bodies. My close call with death on a number of occassions has made me very aware of the need to tend to our bodies as an important responsibility.

We are in the midst of school holidays with the school year starting on the 30th January - so I have been very busy with the children.

Marilyn, in last week's thread you had asked what was wrong with me after I said that I had only just started to drive again - well, in early December, I suddenly felt very weak and almost fainted while shopping. For the next three weeks I was in bed as I was extremely dizzy and my arms and legs were heavy. My doctor thought my heart was playing up but blood and other tests came back all clear. Whatever happened was very debilatating and it has taken the last two months to get back to normal. I'm just about better now. :) Praise God!

It's great to read all your posts and to enjoy the family atmosphere!

See you soon, love  :)

Jane, do you still have snow over there?  You have lots of wood, don't you?

Yup, Nita ... Lots of snow fell here last week and then froze!  We have had freeze warnings ever since so ice is still plentiful in my yard!... Ice spots on the road too, so I stay home as much as possible.  It has warmed up today (40º on my porch), though so more has melted ... still frozen snow in the shade, however.   :-\

As for wood ... I still have plenty.    I've had a fire going day and night for a week so the wood pile is dwindling but I have friends who say to let them know whenever I need more wood ... they have a good supply since the trees were cleared off the hillside and around their place.    :)

I have not been doing much of anything lately except trying to stay warm.  Also, since there's a fire going all the time, I have to dust more often .... the joys of having wood to burn.   :-\

My neighbors are home from their motorhome trip to Arizona.  I told them I didn't expect them back until the snow melted, but they said they were watching the weather reports and saw a windoo of opportunity when the roads were clear so they took off!  I was watching their place and picking up their mail for them while they were away so ...... it's nice to have them back!  :)

Gotta get to gettin' so I won't comment further ... just know that I'm over here in the corner listening to everything!    :D
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet

Pssst--hey, everybody, be careful what you say; Jane is listening to EVERTHING we say in here!  :D  Jane, good to have you come out of your corner and talk to us a bit.

Ruth Ann, sorry I called you Nita earlier.  That isn't a bad thing, though---Nita's neat!  Just a mistake on my part.  Glad you're getting your house repaired.

It's back down to 1 degree here in my corner of Kansas.  Poor Oklahoma is really getting beaten up this winter, isn't it?  My goodness.

Karen, good to see you back again!  I've missed you.  I can imagine how busy your household is when school is out of session.

Karma, how nice to have you pop in and fill us in on your little ones.  Hard to believe Kristi is nearly two already!!  How time flies!

See you later!

Morning All,
Our "Ice Storm" is over. We got between a quarter and a half an inch of ice depending on where you lived. We also made it through with out losing power,
God is so good. He knew we couldn't get anywhere with Michael if there were an emergency and took care of it. The car is still at the garage and the guy is dragging his feet. So God took care of us yesterday.

Now we are getting snow. Oh well, we knew winter would make a comeback, just not when.

I pray everyone has a God filled and blessed day! TTYL

Hi everyone.  I didn't make it here again yesterday so wanted to get the day started right and at least make a small posting before leaving for the morning.

We are among the fortunate weatherwise as it was about 70 degrees here again yesterday.  Today is suppose to be cooler and I see they are now predicting we will get below freezing by Wednesday night.  However, we have nothing to complain about.

Janet, I liked your devotional and it is a good reminder.

Ruth Ann, I can certainly related to your dye experience.  I have had many heart caths over the last 20 years and remember those feelings from the early days.  It didn't take long to circulate the dye.  In recent years I have no memory of that experience as they give you a drug to make you forget the experience.  I always liked to watch the monitor and see the heart beating.  What a marvel is the heart and our entire body.

Marilyn, it obviously wasn't met for you to go to the casino and I am glad you didn't have to do so.

Jeannine, I am sure you could get emergency help if you lost power.  Just glad you didn't have to face that problem.

Janet, I have been watching the weather and we have talked to Pat's sister and know it is very cold back there.

Jane, it has been a long time since I felt a wood fire.  Glad you are staying warm.

A special hi to all those posting that I have run out of time to comment to this morning.  It is time for me to leave.

JudyB

Hi All.

Didn't want to get up today our bed was so warm.  My face and nose were icicles!

Jane I know about dust from burning wood.  But the warmth from a wood fire is great.  We have a wood furnace, and the dust is throughout the house.  The girls love using the swiffer and I let them go to it.

About a week ago there was a bad NW wind and it blew our outdoor thermometer down and it broke.  We need to pick up a new one.  I almost rather not know how cold it is. Let it suffice to say that it is 50*F in the house right now.

We have our womens meeting tonight.  It is revealing week, where we get our new secret sisters.  I enjoy this aspect of womens ministry.  It is fun to make something or buy little things for someone anonomously.  The girls have been involved as well.

Well I must go, John needs the phone.  We are looking at the cost of getting a dedicated line for the puter.  Not having one is really a handicap.

Have a good day everyone.  God bless you all.
JudyB

Janet

My weather thing on my computer says it is still -2 here, but the one below my last posting says it is 9 degrees.  Whichever, it is really cold!  Our water froze off last night in the north part of the house, in my studio and bathroom, and Darrel's sink in what we call our "canning kitchen" in the north end of the garage.  I just hope none of the pipes burst. :-\

Larry, I think I will come down your way and see if I can get warmed up!  ;)  We still have line crews here from other areas, working to restore the power to the people who live miles out in the country.  God bless those men, they deserve a medal for their hard work and dedication.

Jeannine, are there provisions for help for your family in emergency situations, since you have Michael?  I hope so!  I know sometimes it is really difficult to get to those who need help, but cases like yours should get priority.  I'm glad you didn't lose power this time!

I'm not sure what will be on my agenda for today, but there is always something needing done!

Good Morning Hey Janet I forgot to say yesterday that I like your devotional, the stats are interesting.

I got my  Cholesterol down to 195, this time last year it was 255, I am off the Niacin for 3 months to see if I can keep it down with diet, exercise and the product.  My doctor also has some of the product.

My Yahoo temperature widget says it is 31° hereIt is about time for me to go out and uncover the  windsheild. Tonight it is supposed to :rain:

JudyB ~ You say it is 50°F in your house!!!  I am a very hot natured gal but 50°F is too cold for me when I am in the house.  My thermostat is set at 69° and my electric fireplace will get it up to 71°F and I still sit and watch TV with an afghan over me.  Brrrr!

I saw some of the ice storm on TV last evening.  Finally they said it was in Dallas, Texas!!

A day makes a big difference.  Yesterday was raining and flooding and above freezing.  Today it is snowing and freezing...21°F.  And today is Euchre day so I have to get out in it.  I also need to go to the drug store and the grocery store so I best get busy and get out of here!

Have a great day, y'all...that's in honor of Karma and Nards!  Glad you dropped in and gave us info about the family.  Can't believe Trav is FIVE!!!

HOW YOU'RE LIKE A PENCIL

Did you know that you are like a pencil? Here's how:

1. Like a pencil, you can correct your mistakes. You can't
change the past, but you can rectify it. And though you
can't erase history, you can erase guilt and anger with
forgiveness.
2. Like a pencil, painful sharpening can serve to make you
better. Your difficult times can actually sharpen your
skills or shape you into the person you were meant to be.
3. Like a pencil, you can do great things when you allow
yourself to be held in Someone's hand.
4. Like a pencil, you can leave your mark whenever possible.
That is what you're here for -- to leave your mark. It may
be in small ways, it may be in the lives of people you have
touched or nurtured, but you must leave something good
behind whenever you can.
5. Like a pencil, it is what is on the inside that matters.
Whether it is understanding or intolerance, love or
bitterness, peace or unrest, kindness or self-centeredness,
hope or despair, courage or fear, what is on the inside
matters most.

Next time you use a pencil, pause and think about that little writing
tool. It teaches some great lessons about living.

Had a wonderful morning where I drove to a house where a gal handed me three beautiful quilt tops for our trip to Texas and then asked me to stay while she wrote a check for $200 for our quilt group.  Such a neat experience.  I took it right over to church to put in the safe.

Janet:  Yes, I am taking it easy but it sure is hard to not move or lift too much - taking Ibuprophen every 4 hours.  Gee, I just dislike these age problems so much.

Al:  In our house, we grew up "listening" to how motors and gears sounded - daughter of a diesel engineer so we knew when anything needed oil - the staff of life to some things.

Larry:  Have a great trip to Florida.  It is freezing there now but I hope where you are going it will be warmer.
