Morning Devotional...

His Greatness Is Inexhaustible
by Ed Powell

"Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is inexhaustible and boundless." Psalm 145:3

The extent of our concept of the "Majesty of God" and all of His inconceivable attributes, will have a direct relationship in our response to God, and will determine the commitment and dedication of our life, worship, and walk with God. What man thinks about God and the truths and principles of His Word, will not alter or change the reality and verity of them one bit. Let's focus on the God of Creation as one aspect of His greatness. Our thoughts need to extend beyond the fact that God performed "creative acts." We need to grasp the fact that HE IS THE CREATOR, a fact that is basic to our Christian living. Our concept of God is to worship, what the foundation is to the Temple. When the foundation is "out of plumb," the whole structure will sooner or later collapse. I believe that improper spiritual growth and a shallow spiritual walk are directly related to a poor and improper concept of God. Too few Christians walk in a "holy and reverential fear of God" that comes from a basic concept of WHO GOD IS !

Show me someone who has a poor or improper concept of God, and I will show you someone whose life is centered in "self", and who finds pleasure and focus in the world and all its allurements, rather than in God. -- We need to see God as Isaiah did: "I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up. The seraphim cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory." And Isaiah said, "Woe is me! I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts." -- We need to see Him as Moses did, when he was on the mountain with God and cried out, "Lord, show me thy glory," and the Lord showed unto him a "measure of His glory." When Moses came down from the mountain, the children of Israel could not look upon him, because his face was so aglow with the glory of God. -- We need to see him as Job did, when God revealed unto him "who He was" and His Majesty. Job says, "I have heard thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye sees thee, wherefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes." -- We need to see God as revealed in His Word ... His Holiness, His Righteousness, His Grace, His Love, His Mercy, His Justice, His Compassion, and His Sovereignty. God's creative acts are but the "footprints of His power." How much better it is to KNOW HIM AS OUR MIGHTY GOD, rather than simply to know "what He has done." We need to experience in our lives His mighty power as we "DARE TO BELIEVE"... that "he is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or think."

The more we allow the Holy Spirit to move upon our hearts and open our understanding as to WHO GOD IS, the greater will be our Concept of God that will expand our dimension of God to unforeseen heights. It will put within our hearts compassion and love for others, and will cause us to reach out to them. It will radically change the way we live, worship, and walk, and will cause us to be "conformed into His image." Let Him expand the dimensions of your faith with His infinite greatness.

Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/burdens.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music: John M. Moore

Days are filled with sorrow and care,
Heart are lonely and drear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

Cast your care on Jesus today,
Leave your worry and fear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

Troubled soul, the Savior can see
Ev'ry heartache and tear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary
Dr. John M. Moore

"Today's featured hymn was writen in 1952 by one of our contemporary song writers, John M. Moore, currently a Baptist pastor and evangelist in Toronto, Canada. The hymn was prompted by an experience that Dr. Moore had while serving as the assistant superintendent of the Seaman's chapel in Glasgow, Scotland, one of tht area's outstanding evangelistic centers. He recalls:

I wrote 'Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary' after a most interesting experience. The company secretary of a large shipping firm telephoned the Seaman's Chapel and requested that I visit a young merchant seaman who was lying critically ill in a Glasgow hospital. After getting permission from the nursing sister, I went in to visit the young sailor. I talked for a few moments and then put my hand in my case for a tract, not knowing which one I would pull out. It happened to be a tract based on 'Pilgrim's Progress', with a color reproduction of Pilgrim coming to the cross with a great burden on his back. I showed the young seaman this picture and told him the story in brief, adding that Pilgrim's experience had been my experience too. I explained that when I came to the cross of Christ, my burden rolled away and my sense of sin and guilt before God was removed. He nodded his head when I asked him, 'Do you feel this burden on your back today?' We prayed together and never shall I forget the smile of peace and assurance that lit up his face when he said that his burden was lifted!

Later that night, sitting by the fireside with paper and pen, I could not get the thought out of my mind--his burden is lifted! I started writing, but never for a moment did I imagine that this little hymn would become a favorite throughout the world. Since that time, I hear of people all over the world who are being blessed and saved through the singing of this hymn."

Church with Ivalou was great yesterday.  I realized that I am blessed with having two church families.  A couple of ladies was surprised to see me and even said, 'It's not snowing.  I am surprised to see you here.'  I imagine someday Ivalou's church will be my church...when I really get old and won't drive very far... :-\

After church eight of us ladies went out to eat and while there we saw several other of the church members there also.  Really fun!

Then after coming home for a few hours we went back to Ivalou's church to the outdoor pavilion.  They had a potter that demonstrated making pottery and talked how pottery and verses of the Bible related.  After that was ice cream for everyone with all the different toppings.  Ivalou and I went on to Noblesville to O'Charley's for a bit more to eat than ice cream.

So I truly had two wonderful days this weekend.

Now today or later on today, I have to mow the lawn.

Oh, yes!  I have two Surprise lilies in my yard.  One is where I haven't had a lily in the almost 6 years I have been here.  They start out in the spring looking like daffodils without the bloom.  Then all the leaves turn yellow and I mow them down.  Now it looks like grass.  Then all of a sudden you look out and there are long leafless stems with beautiful pink lilies at the top!  Click here (http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/20380/) to see a picture of them.

Oh, Pat.........my sincere apologies.  This was my week to post the new Thoughts, and it completely slipped my mind.  We had Abby here, and I had to drive her halfway home to meet her mom, and.......and.......well, anyway, I'm so sorry I messed up.  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Your devotional, and the story about the song are really good, and just what I needed to read today.  So God turned my mistake into a blessing.  And a blessing is what you are in my life, too.  Thanks so much.

Janet, no apologies needed.  We just felt that it was due to your wrist.  No problem at all sweetie.

Etta Sue, I must look into these "surprise lilies".  I'd love to have them on my lawn.  We need to know the latin name or something to see if we have them up here.

Thanks, Pat.  A lot is due to my wrist and the associated pain, but I really did think about it last Thursday or so.

I have a pot of that kind of lily, and they are so fun, and always a surprise!

Good afternoon all!!

We had a good service yesterday.  We had a guest preacher since ours is in the South Pacific on an island somewhere.  :)  His wife said that he had called and couldn't say a lot about where he was or what he was doing, but that he was safe, healthy, and had "been in the field."

Hope everyone is doing well.  I'm slow getting started today, but I need to get it in gear.  Things are going to start growing in my sink if I don't get the dishes done. :)

Time for a nap. (Kristi that is, but I get to lay down with her to get her to sleep.)

Thank you so very much, Pat, for that devotional from Ed Powell.  In my humble estimation, it is that very lack of realization of the godhood of God that has led to the ruinous condition of the Church in our day.  Oh may God mercifully move in our hearts to really WORSHIP Him in that way!  I'm writing a piece these days on Biblical Worship, and I definitely may want to quote from that devotional.

Checking in now. I have been out watering. When I moved my tomato plant that is in a bucket my hand slipped and I tore my fingernail almost half way down the nail from the side to the center. OUCHY!! So I used Krazy glue to glue it back together.

Nothing new here well yes there is the sun is out Hooray  :thumbs up:

I got the bill for my new health insurance, wow! $102. not bad  for the amount of coverage I am getting. I did go with United Healthcare Plan J. No deductibles to pay, no copays either. They pickup everything that medicare doesn't pay.

My thumb has been hurting a lot more than usual. I have a bone spur in the joint on my left hand. I am thinking if it gets any worse I will ask to have it removed.

I will be going for another lipid panel this month I am curious to see how much my cholesterol has come down in 3 months by eating carefully and using Cholest off, Cinnamon and Turmeric.

Gotta go now.

Hi everyone.  We had more delightful rain last evening,  about a half-inch.  We have had a lot of rain in July and I hope it continues into August.

Not much new here.  We have a meeting to attend this morning and this afternoon, after the call saying our Saturn is ready for pickup, I am going with my friend Rod up to pick it up.  He needs to return some phones he bought recently and I will help him with that as there are four separate returns.  He will then drop me off at Saturn.

We had a call about 5:15 pm last night saying that when they got into the timing belt repair they found that the water pump was leaking and it would be much better to replace it now than with as it would save us about $250 plus any related damage when the pump failed.  They are also replacing the one other belt (in addition to the timing belt) as it has worn in the close to 100,000 miles we have used the car.

I am sure that will be enough running around for one day.

Pat, thanks for that fine devotional.

Marilyn, it gave me a shudder when I read about your nail being torn.  Hope it doesn't hurt now.

Etta Sue, nice you have a church close to home that you feel comfortable in attending when you don't want to make the long drive.

Hope it is a fine day for everyone.

Good morning!  Well, morning here for a few more minutes.  If I hurry, it will still be morning when I click 'Post'.

I got my yard mowed yesterday and that's about all I did that was significant.

Today I am doing some laundry...I don't know how one person can be so dirty...or so clean!!   :idiot:

Kitty sent me an email today.  She couldn't get online with either of her computers...the desktop or the laptop.  He SIL got her online.  She can send email by way of Outlook Express but can't receive or read it there...she receives it on Embarq and can read it there.  Her nephew by marriage is suppose to come today to fix it.  She has so many computer problems and so many people who could fix them but they say they will and never show up.  Her SIL said it would fix her computer right after Christmas....a year ago...so that means 1½ years ago!  Not me.  If my pc is acting up, I get it fixed!

And yes, Larry, it is nice that I have a church to attend just 3-4 miles away as well as 25 miles away.  The local church are people I grew up with.  In fact, some call me Mrs. Stevenson.  That was my Mom.  My name hasn't been Stevenson since 1960!!

Can you believe July is almost over??

Pat:  Thank you for the thoughtful message at the top of our page.  It is one that needs to be read every day of this week.

Pastor Al:  You have hit the nail right on the head with your thoughts on "what is wrong" - I may sound like an old fuddy duddy but things have changed so much in our nation, so sad and astonishing that people don't remember their parents and grandparents upbringing.  When going to church really meant something and not just a fun time - silly sayings - jazzy music - the feel good crowd.  Not that there isn't time for a little humor and good thoughts at all but I don't understand why the big change when at the same time the evil of this world is so noticeable.  I am probably saying this all wrong because I do like the Praise Band - just like everyone to settle down and listen to the message.

I have two friends - one is to have surgery (likely) for breast cancer and she is the one who had a heart transplant.  Her meds plainly state that cancer can be a side effect.  Another just had kidney tumor surgery (cancer) and will undergo chemo - again, most likely.  Feeling overwhelmed with the cancer prayers now.

Thankful for this morning walk and a chance to relax before tackling stuff around here.

Carol

Thank you for all the comments on the devotional.  It really meant a lot to me when I read it so thought I'd share it with all of you.

It's so hot today here.  And the humidity is high as well so the best place to be is in the basement.

Hi, Kids.  I have done..........nothing today!  And I don't like that.  But have felt just awful.  Tomorrow I will drive to Leoti to judge at their county fair, so I hope I feel a lot better.  I am ready to be done with this pain, for sure.

I'm reading!  Just not doing much writing.

Janet, I am PROUD of you.  While I know we are instructed to be diligent and to work, we are also instructed to rest.  Doing nothing every now and then is a good thing.

Hope everyone had a good day.

Please pray for me in the next 24 hours.  I have a "situation" that I really need grace and wisdom and the ability to keep my trap shut. :)  I can't say more about that now, but, please just say a small prayer for me.

I have a story for you.  Truth is stranger than fiction.

About 2 and a half months ago.  Dennis got a call from a stranger asking if he still loved Volkswagons.  Dennis said yes and why did the man ask..  The man  we now know as Erik told him he had a volkswagon to give Dennis, and would be there shortly.  Dennis didn't know whether to have the police on standby or what.

The young man and his wife came to Dennis's home and as he walked to the car the wife said "Thankyou for giving me a Christian husband!"  Not understanding Dennis in a way only he has started to ask questions.

Several to many years ago a young man had his VW break down.  He called a repair truck and the guy was full of expletives saying he hated Volkswagons.  He told him to call the "crazy pastor' in town who loved VW's.  Our pastor was called.  Dennis figured out what the problem was, took the young man to another VW that he used as a parts supply, and fixed the car, all the while presenting the gospel to the young man.  The Job was fixed and the young man went on his way.

What Dennis didn't know was that the young man Erik went home to Timmins and went into the first church he found.  Timmins First Baptist.  After a few services he turned his life over to Christ.   Months later he met the lady who was to be  his wife.   They decided to repay Dennis with a car, a VW that he would love.   Dennis sowed and another reapped.  Isn't that the way so often with us as christians?  How often do we see the seed we have sewn actually be reaped?

The story doesn't end there.  Dennis was in Sudbury at a Baptist meeting and was introduced as a pastor from North Bay,  from Lakeshore Evangelical Church.  A man from the back of the church stood up and said "That has to be Dennis Anderson!"  This pastor introduced himself as Adam Tulloch!  Pastor of First Baptist in Timmins!  Adam's father was an associate pastor at the church Pat and I grew up in!  Life comes full circle!  Praise God!

Hi everyone.  Just a few minutes before coffee and then will be gone all morning as this is Bible Study morning with the Pastor.

Not much new here.  This is suppose to be the hottest day we have had so far.  I don't have choir practice tonight as our director is out of town.  So we got an additional week from rehearsal.  It will resume next week and I am looking forward to it.

Judy, that was a wonderful story.  Truth is always stranger than fiction.

Janet, glad you took a day to yourself.  Just wish you hadn't felt so bad all day.  Enjoy the fair today.

Karmat, it sounds like you are on top of the situation.  We seldom regret what we don't say and often regret what we do.

Marilyn, I thought the nail tear sounded pretty painful.  Hope it feels better today.

Carol, I agree with your comments.

Time to leave for the morning.

Busy morning.  A couple of days ago, my security system beeped.  On the console it said, '06 Low Battery'.  I was thinking mine was electric.  Well, the console is electric but the sensors are battery operated.  Anyway, my manual said to enter my code and press OFF.  I did and it was quiet.  Last night as I set it for night, it told me to 'check system'.  I turned it off and the phone rang.  The security system.  They said I had batteries in my sensors and they needed to be replaced.  So they were 3-volt batteries and I don't have them.

So I went to WalMart at 7am this morning and bought 4 of these batteries for my four door sensors.  I called customer service and they put my system on hold for an hour.  But after I replaced all four, it still said I had a battery low at 06.  So I called customer service and 06 is my motion detector..forgot about it.  It has two of these batteries.  I sure didn't want to go back to Noblesville so I replaced two door sensors with the old ones and put the two new ones in motion detector.  Now everything is fine.  What a hassle!

Today I took my Diovan again.  I am feeling a little queasy but I am trying not to think about it!

Heh, all.  I'm just waiting, and waiting and biding my time.  Kim, my daughter, finds out today what she's having.  She believes it'll be a girl, but we'll know for sure soon.  Well, she probably does, but I have to wait till she comes to show me her video. :)  I hope the baby cooperates and is in the right position to tell.

I'm cleaning today....well, cleaning OUT, I meant to say.  Kim is having a yard sale this weekend, and I'm trying to find what I can sell.

Janet, how was your day at the fair?  Fairs and pain just don't go together. :(      I stopped typing and prayed for you this moment.

Karma, I saw your prayer request too.  I know there was one more, so I'll go back and see who it was before I get off here.  Oh, I remember...I'd better go look in the prayer requests.

Blessings, Nita

Thanks so much, Nita.  I found an unlikely thing that relieved a lot of my pain today.  They were giving away those wrist sweatbands at the fair; I put one on just below my elbow, on the place hurting from golfer's elbow, and boy!  It helps so much!  :)

I had a good day at the fair, and on the way home I stopped several times to take photos of old falling-down barns and houses, and a real tiny old cemetery. ^-^  Kept me from getting so sleepy, too.

And Darrel had supper almost ready when I got home, so I had a nice day.  Thank you, Darrel and thank you, Lord.  <3

Oh yes, and I had a call from grandson Curtis, too, after I got home!!  His little daughter Alexis, will be born next month, if all goes according to schedule.   ;)  You will enjoy the video, Nita, I got to see the one of the coming great-grand baby, and it's so cool!

I must not have written our good news yesterday.  The cardiologist said that newer tests reveal that Don DID NOT have a heart attack a couple of years ago.  What a load lifted.  He still does have scarring of the lungs from both smoking years back and bacterial pnuemonia.  All is good now though.

Karmat:  Why is cooking greens called a mess?  I know = it is a southern thing.  I lived in Texas.

Judy:  Inspiring story about the VW.  Just a neat story to tell the family.

Pat:  A lovely song = thank you.  I have been sewing in the basement and keeping cool and today brought everything upstairs & kept the fan right on me.  It is just better light but so much warmer with the sun pounding in here.

Marilyn:  Owie.

Janet:  You are just posting - will you be a great-grandma?  You are much too young..  Oh, yes - when my wrist aches from humidity I put a sweatband type thing on it and it helps so much.  Hope you are better very soon.

Sick and tired of these 90 plus degree days - it just isn't normal to have it day after day and the house can't cool properly.  I can't really complain though because we have air conditioning.

Hello from the west coast. Today I spent  over an hour on the phone ordering a DirecTV satellite and DSL Internet. I will be getting a better deal with the satellite than I have with cable. Currently I have the very basic cable, 13 channels, and my Internet for almost $50. For a few dollars less I will be getting DSL high speed Internet, and 120 channels plus the 6 local channels. I called cable today and was going to order Animal planet and they told I had to get the whole package for $51. plus the Internet on top of that.

Carol I don't know why greens and some other veggies are called a mess but that's the way I learned it from my grandmother and mother. A mess of greens, a mess of green beans, peas etc. Just like fix instead of cook. I'm fixin' breakfast for example. It's just a southern thing.

The finger is still pretty tender, but getting better. I keep a band aid on it during the day and take it off at night.

Janet I am glad to hear that you found something that would relieve some of the pain.

JudyB quite a story. Thanks for sharing.

Marilyn ~ I have DirecTV and I love it.  Also Ultimate TV, like TiVo, but my DSL is with my phone company.

Janet ~ I must have missed it that Curtis is going to be a daddy.  And I am so glad that the wrist sweatband help your arm.  Must keep your wrist warm and the warmth helps.  Sound like Arthur!

Well, I must be allergic to something in Diovan HTC.  Or is it HCT?   :idiot:
I took my pills this morning with breakfast and within an hour, I could tell my stomach wasn't going to take the Diovan.  Sure enough, I lost every thing I ate but I was only to the bathroom once.  I called the doctor's office and the nurse called me back saying they have some samples of another blood pressure medication that can be picked up.  Since I was in Noblesville this morning, I really didn't want to go back so Ivalou and I are going tomorrow around 11am...and eat out.  Good excuse, right?  Now when I am asked if I am allergic to anything, I can say Diovan.

Time for bed...my email service has been down all day...Embarq was doing maintenance on it so I was checking my email before going to bed.  Ta ta until morning!

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee and Pat has left for the senior center to play Canasta with some friends this morning.  I am very happy to see her getting our and enjoying these things.  I have the rest of the day clear but we have a meeting to attend tonight.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you have identified what is making you sick.  Hope the new medicine will not have the result.  Our e-mail with Google has been pretty slow this week and also the Internet on occasion.

Marilyn, I also have DirecTV and my son has used it for about 6 years and loves it.  The only time there is a problem is when we have heavy rain and the satellite signal breaks up or knocks the picture off until the storm passes.  However, this doesn't happen too often.  My Internet is not with them but with AT&T and is DSL.  However, I am having some problems with it in that it keeps dropping out for a few seconds.  Fortunately it never seems to stay out.  I was on the phone for close to an hour yesterday afternoon on the problem.  This was my second call and after the third call they likely will send someone out.  I think maybe they just need to run a new line to my house where my Internet is connected.

Carol, that is indeed good news regarding Don's heart situation.  Where I grew up in NW Missouri we also referred to a "mess of greens"  etc., and fixing breakfast.  I never thought about where those saying came from before.

Janet, sure glad you found something that helped relieve some of the pain.  I am sure you are anxiously looking forward to being great grandparents.  We have 3 great grandchildren but have never seen one of them.

Nita, a new grandchild is also a precious thing.  It has been a long time since we have been around little ones.

Guess I had better get busy on some projects that need attention.  Hope everyone who stops by today has a good day.  Keep a good thought.

Yes, I did, Pat!  It was great!  And sorry for not mentioning it sooner.

Yes, our little great grand daughter is due on Sept. 17.  Curtis' birthday is the 16th, so he's hoping she arrives a day early; but the doctor thinks she may make her appearance as much as two weeks early.  I am so anxious to meet her!

Larry, I'm so sorry you and Pat are not getting to enjoy your GGchildren.  That's so sad.

Etta Sue, hope you get a med that agrees with you.  When you hear or read all the side effects, it makes you not want to take ANY meds!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AL!!  How old are you.....39?     I hope you have a wonderful day.

I'm so glad to hear your good news, Carol.  Heart problems are scary.  Larry is our resident expert on those!

The care home called to tell me that Beth "slid out of her wheelchair" a couple nights ago.  She wasn't hurt, but it scared them.  And her.

Time for lunch, then I have another appointment at 1:30, BETTER GET GOING!

I got a couple of weeks more samples.  This time it is Benicar HCT.  The doctor told me to be sure to stay home for awhile when I take this for the first time....just in case.  She didn't have to tell me that!! ::)  All of this is a new experience for me.  I have never gotten sick before taking a medication.  Now two things...a muscle relaxer during surgery and now Diovan HCT.

Parker, Ivalou's grandson, is with her today to finish painting what was started a month or so ago.  Ivalou's family room was added onto her house and it is a log room.  Panabow is the name of the company that you could order precut logs and put the room together by following the numbers.  Her husband used to make huge homes for people from Panabow logs.  Anyway, the outside needs painting every few years so Parker is doing that.  He is 13 now so very quiet.  When you ask a question, his answer is a one word answer!  We all went to Pizza Hut Buffet for lunch.  He is sure a growing boy and a bottomless pit!  He is almost 6' tall.

Now for the rest of my day.....NOTHING!  Too hot to stay outside, for sure.  To be 92° with 40% humidity.  Yucky weather unless you really like hot, sticky weather.

You and me, both!  And now today my eyes are watering like crazy.  I am truly getting tired of it all.  Now I am wondering if I have an allergy causing the tickle/cough/mucous.  I am not as bad as I was but I still have the tickle/cough/mucous.  Coughing a half a dozen times a day instead of three dozen times!!!  And thanks, Carol, for asking!!

Etta Sue when you find out please let me know!  I have had this tickle/cough/mucous for way too long!  I don't cough as much as I did at one time, but I still spend too much of my time coughing and spitting .... Seems worse after I've eaten or first thing in the morning ...   :-\   And, of course, when I'm someplace where it is an embarrasment -- like in church!!  :-[

Pat~At the risk of being far too redundant I can't don't even try to get anything from YouTube or things like that because I am on dialup and it just takes too long to download such things.   :-\  I'm sure it is really lovely, but I'll just have to take others' words for it.

Janet~I have 12 great grandchildren and never see them!  I very seldom see my grandkids, for that matter.   :-\

LET IT RAIN

Let it rain let it pour
Let thy showers of blessings flow
Let the living waters come
From thine Heaven to earth below

We are parched we are dry
Kiss with love each falling drop
From shrivelled hearts is the cry
Let the downpour never stop

The scorching sun the heat of day
Drinks the moisture that keeps alive
Without thy rain that quenches thirst
None of us can survive

The panting soul needs the pouring
It longs for clouds of rain to burst
When water droplets kiss our lips
Quick we drink to quench our thirst

Let it rain let it pour
Let falling showers never be done
For we know Lord life giving water
Comes from thine own blessed Son

Larry:  I must have been feeling selfish and rushing in here and missed your line about not seeing your great grandchildren.  How it must be a great hurt for you and Pat.  I am so sorry.  Cannot understand the human mind-set anymore but too many are warped and need to be smoothed - too stubborn to even realize their consequences.  I just keep praying that an angel will come to guide them.

Called the pool this morning and still it is closed for bacteria - I wish they didn't teach children in our pool although they are not saying the problem.  And, so many don't shower & have lotions on them even though there are reminders.  Need that exercise especially since I have been playing with our new vacuum cleaner.  :P

It rained 5 in. last night & we didn't get anything in the house - Thank the Lord!  We are on a hill but I saw pictures of some basement flooding, we kept watch and I was thinking of all of my sewing equipment in the basement & Don's workshop.  Flooded streets just down the hill at Fossil Creek (that is where they found a Wooley Mammoth.  Not in everyone's back yard  ;D

Love that song let it rain we sure could do with it here in South Australia water restrictions no sprinklers no hoses are to be used on the garden. If you want to keep your trees alive its by bucket. All of this and it is in the middle of winter too. Drought had hit Australia hard. So please dear God let it rain and if the rain is stopped by hard unrepentant hearts send some oil to soften the hearts so they may repent and follow you.

By the way where is the shout box? Also have a look at my new be hard at work photo, I really love the light as well as the bee capture. I had to sit for a while and my 4 year old thought I was nuts sitting amongst the bush and bees but  reckon it paid off. :coffee:

Jane ~ I am sure that if you read CP, you will hear what I find out about my tickle/cough/mucous.  For some reason, it seems my body is changing.  Never before have I had an allergy.  Never before have I taken medicine that made me sick to my stomach.  Now everything is suspicious!

Colin ~ Thank God you are back with us again with a great poem.  Now don't be a stranger, ya hear?  Send us your rain, please!

Carol ~ It hasn't rained here for a long time.  We sure need the rain.  We are way below the average rainfall for this year.  I would not have thought that was possible last spring when we were over flowing with rain!

outbackjack ~ So you are praying for rain also.  Seems the world is topsy-turvy with weather not being normal.  I looked at your photos....so great!

Embarq is 'fixing' their email so I didn't get email all day yesterday until late last night and now today, I can send email out.  Grrrr!  Computers are great friends...until they don't work right!

Not much happening today.  I took my first Benicar HCT and so far so good.  Almost 2 hours ago now.  Will call my doctor in the afternoon for an RX if I am still okay.  (Well, there are some who doubt that anytime.  )

Hi everyone.  When I tried to get home from coffee the traffic was stopped and there were three ambulances, a fire engine and numerous police cars.  I just now heard that a van veered off the road and slammed into a tree.  Two children had to be life-flighted to the hospital and the driver was also taken away in an ambulance.  Fortunately I was able to turn around in the street and get home a back way.

I am ashamed to admit it but confession is good for us so will tell on myself.  I had never realized the "New" button was live and took you to the new messages since your last posting.  All this time I have been hunting where I think I left off.  Guess we are never too old to learn.  :)

Pat and I are heading to the North Georgia mountains this afternoon for the weekend.  We are staying two nights in the Lodge at Unicoi State Park and attending a convention.  We are looking forward to the weekend as haven't been away overnight since we make the Denver trip about a year ago.  So won't be posting for a couple of days as am not taking my computer.

Carol, that was quite a rain.  Glad you had no flooding at your home.  We had a brief but intense rain shower here last evening about 9 pm.

I was on the phone twice yesterday with the tech rep for ATT about my DSL service as I am getting periodic internet drop outs.  This was the fourth time I called and finally I had drop outs while on the phone.  This rep was able to check something else and determined that my service was below the acceptable quality level.  They made an adjustment but got it up only from a 4 to a 6 and he said they don't consider anything less than 7 as an acceptable level.  They are sending out a tech to my home on Monday afternoon.  I won't be surprised if they don't have to put in a new line from the street.  I want the problem fixed as the DSL should be uninterrupted service and that is what I am paying them to provide.

Etta Sue, sure hope you new medicine doesn't make you sick.  It sounds like Ivalou has a nice new room.

Janet, thanks for your words about our great grandchildren.  It is sad but life deals us some things on occasion and we just have to learn to accept what we cannot change.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Pat, Like Jane, I don't click on YouTube links because even the shortest ones take 20 - 30 minutes to load. :(  I wish I could see them.  I have hi-speed at work, but this site, as well as others like YouTube are blocked.  We have a very aggressive web block system in place and all sites that have "personal storage" like the gallery and "message boards or bulletin boards" are blocked.   It's rather aggravating at the best of times.

Hope all is going well for you.  It is almost the weekend  YEAH!!!

Hey, Colin!  Good to see you here again, and I loved your poem.  I am going to a new chiropractor here; he wanted to see something I had painted; so I took the "Jesus the Carpenter" one, along with a copy of your poem, for him to see.  He was very impressed, both with the painting and the poem!  He asked if he could take a copy of the poem, and the next time I was there, told me how much he likes it.  So thanks again for writing that lovely poem to go with my painting.  I love it!

Larry, I have some great grandkids right here in town that I never get to see, so I do understand how you and Pat feel, and you, too, Jane.  They are the grandchildren of my niece/adopted daughter, and she has decided she isn't related to us in any way anymore.  Since she works in the doctor's office where our doctor is, we see her occasionally, but she doesn't acknowledge our presence.  :(  As you said, life deals us some tough stuff sometimes.

Carol, what a rain!!  We have been praying for rain, and yesterday, we got a downpour---for a few minutes.  Darrel estimates we got about a quarter of an inch.  My guess was a half inch, but since he hasn't yet put up our new rain gauge, I don't know---but it was wonderful!!

Pat, did you not read my reply to you?  I did watch the video and commented on it.

The hotel messed up our reservation in St. Louis, had us down for JULY instead of August, and for ONE night instead of three, so I spent time on the phone this morning trying to straighten that out.  I told them I want a place to sleep when we get there!  :-\

I need to get the trash carried out to the pit and burned.  See you later.

Good day everyone.

I have been working on curtains and a bedspread for Kassie.  I have a drape that I have cut down into two short drapes, and I have enough left over to make a bedspread.  Problem is I have to join it .  I was wanting to put some batting inbetween the top and the bottom.  Not too sure how to do it, but I am woiking away at it.  I have a machine here that I have never used but it aparently works so I will give that a try, to finish this off.

Janet I am glad you had a good day judging.  Way to go girl!

Colin good to see you here and I love the poem.

Carol Glad the flooding didn't affect your material.  That would have been expensive to replace.  I am willing to bet you have material that can't be replaced!

Etta Sue I understand about medications and how they can cause digestive problems.  There are many I can't take.  Our bodies do change when we get older.  I am praying sis.

Larry enjoy the trip.  Sounds wonderful.  That new button was new to me a while ago as well.  Praying for journey mercies.

Many of us don't see our grandchildren.  It is hard, but life does get in the way.  The best we can do is pray for each of them.

Marilyn I received the new address.  Thank you.  I understand how painful that owie can be!

Nita Have you found out yet what you are having?  Grand son or Grand daughter?  I was always so pleased when one of my babies were born the surprise in finding our what it was.  Different day and age, it seems everyone wants to know ahead of time.  Somehow it spoils the surprise.  Different strokes for different folks.

Pat no I didn't watch that video clip.  I have dialup.

Well I am off, be back this evening.

The sex of each of our three was a surprise, too, and all of the grandkids.  Even Abby, only 10 years ago.  Diane's doctor wanted to do amniocentesis, but she refused.  She said she saw no reason to spend all that money, and if there were something wrong with the baby, abortion would never be an option; and she wanted to be surprised when the baby came, with the sex.  :)  Of course we were all hoping for a girl, because they had the two boys already.  But most of the younger generation want to know asap, and even name the children before they arrive.  Just a different world now, I guess.

It is so humid here today, even though not as hot as it has been.

That sounds like quite a project you are working on, Judy.

Well, I have been waiting to tell the rest of the story re: Bryan  until I had more information.  And Joy and John have been waiting for "the other shoe to drop"  so they could have something to tell me.   :)

After a lot of waiting, interviews, written reports, and wavers signed all the way up (and down) the Army chain of command, Bryan is once again in the Army.  He had to clear up his record and pay some hefty fines in court for past traffic violations but he did that yesterday and then went to choose his job and be officially enlisted once again.

He thought, for a while, that he would have to go back into Infantry but "just happened" to see the Sgt. he had talked with the first time he enlisted and he remembered him and used his clout to override the opinions of the recruiter.

The recruiter said "Well by special recommendation from Sgt M. ... "  He was given highest security clearance for the job of "Signal Support Specialist" which is mostly positioning satellites.  When he is not doing that, he will be basically an IT ... working on and fixing computers.  He leaves for his base near Augusta, Georgia on the 16th of August.  He will have 20 weeks of training there and then be assigned to his next more or less permanent base. He signed up for 4 years.  He also receives a very nice signing bonus.

He thinks he will be "a better soldier" this time and I think he will enjoy his job a lot more.  He is not "the baby" this time and, as he told me, he will be in a place where he won't be beaten up every day to establish his toughness ... In this job it will be brains not brawn that establishes your status.  He also wants very badly to be able to "finish right" with the Army.  He could possibly decide to make a career of it if he finds the sort of work he's doing to his liking.

Actually, the Army is the best place for him since he has such trouble focusing and keeping a job ... they will tell him what to do and how to do it there. We're praying he is in with a good group of soldiers with whom he can establish lasting friendships.  Hopefully, there will be someone there who will serve as a mentor.

jane, my prayers are with him!  it's not easy, under any circumstances, but I'm praying that God will give him grace to finish strong!

I guess I'm one of the "younger generation" :)  With both of my kids, I wanted to ASAP what it was.  I like surprises, but I'm not that patient. Just ask Bernard.  for the first two, I used the "excuse" of "practicality" -- we didn't have a lot of money or time to return "wrong gendered" things.  If I can ever convince Bernard to have #3, I won't have that excuse, but I'll find another one.  hahahahahahahahahahaha

Etta Sue I sent you an email back re earthlink?  Please let me know what the trouble was that you had with them. I am in for a year and there is nothing I can do about it.

Colin good to see you back again and your lovely poem.

Gotta go walk the dogs now than I will get back to sewing together the backing for my baby quilt, it is going to be reversible.

What a time these past few weeks with five of us friends - two are not speaking to each other and  two are having major health issues with cancer surgery.  One calls me to relay messages and I am in-between if you know what I mean and don't even care to know what they are miffed about.

JudyB:  I thought about what a flood would do here - we are on top of a hill but you should have seen the storm.  We have been through tornado damage in Minnesota, lost jobs (yes, that is plural), in Texas with kids in college and Don left a very crooked company - his wealthy boss asked him to do something wrong and he quit then we heard that she and her husband were in prison (oh, there is a God!!!!!  But - a huge financial blow to the family when 4 kids are in school.  Overcame that and all in all, I just have to remember that "things" are not important.  As for the fabric, yes, it is really nice & from a quilting shop but even that - well, I would try to rescue my sewing machine first I do think.  Hope it never comes to that!  Are you making dresses for fall & wintertime?  There are some nice and easy patterns for fleece jackets & pullovers.

Need to focus here and get back to work.  Carol

Hi Marilyn - good luck with your baby quilt, wish this one was a baby size.

Carol, I am so glad you didn't get flooded!  That is just awful, ruins nearly everything.

I forgot to tell you all about my blessing last night!  The Mennonite church here serves a lovely meal (hamburgers and fixings, lots of salads, then home made ice cream for dessert) every year to the Senior Center.  Our Director said she looked it up and this was their 30th year to do it, and 28 of those years, they did it twice a year.  Anyway, we went and enjoyed the meal, then went to "The first annual Fall fashion show" which was being put on by three clothing stores here in town.  They had a door prize to sign up for as we entered, and as we were leaving, they called my name as the winner!  :)  The prize was about $100 worth of Mary Kay cosmetics, plus a free facial!  Isn't that a nice prize?

I had some framing that really needed doing today, so I worked on that, and it doesn't seem to have hurt my arm too much, at least not yet.

Carol, isn't that the pits, being put in the middle of a squabble between friends?  Yuck.  Hope they sort it out and are friends again.

See you tomorrow!

Good morning!

Jane ~ I am sure Bry will be fine this time in the Army.  This time he wants to do a fine job and even thinking he might make a career out of the Army.  Seems his attitude has changed for the positive...that means growing up.

Janet ~ Certainly glad your arm is better after doing some framing.  Are you still having surgery?  And congratulations on your Mary Kay prize.

Marilyn ~ If you do happen to have problems with Earthlink, you can use a different email venue and not use any of Earthlinks programs such as virus, firewall and such.  Since you are locked in, that's what I would do if you have problems.  Funny, I play Mahjongg games..three of them.  Every once in while I would start playing them and no music on any of them.  I would have to use my Restore back to the day before to have music again.  Since I have deleted everything that was Earthlink, I have not started Mahjongg without music.  But as I say, hopefully Earthlink in California is much better than Indiana.

Carol ~ I had a mini-flood here two years ago that got into the motor of my freezer in the basement.  Now I have the drain that went to field tile cemented up and a submerged sump pump installed.  Haven't had the floor completely wet since.

Karma ~ When I was reading your post, I thought you were going to tell us that #3 is on the way.  I don't think so, right?  How is Nards doing now!  Are you able to keep him from over working?

JudyB ~ So far so good with the new BP medication.  But from now on, I will 'test' the medicines before getting them long term.

Colin ~ You did send some rain!  We got it.  I was just over to my sister's and it started raining.  One of those 5 inch rain...drops are 5 inches apart.  Didn't cover my drive but it did rain.  Just enough to make it more muggy out there.  But thanks just the same.

Larry ~ Glad you found a back way home and avoided having to wait around for the accident to be cleared up.  That is the most devasting thing to be stranded on the interstate and can't go anywhere and have to wait it out.

I have already been to my bank to make a deposit.  I receive my IRA check around the third of the month and didn't go to the mailbox until too late yesterday to run it to the bank then.  Then when I got home, I saw my nephew at Ivalou's...the one that broke his heel in 32 places.  He isn't on crutches now but still not able to go back to work yet.  Still doing therapy.  His wife is going to paint Ivalou's double-door in her family room inside and out today.

I plan to veg out today.  Not much.  Just some reading perhaps

Wow Janet you are blessed with a gift!  After all the pain you have endured that is a treat.  The dinner sounds wonderful.  Now Janet don't go overdoing it cause you will pay for it tonight!!

Carol You are in a difficult situation.  I have been there.  The opposing sides need to have a good sit down talk.  I am not sewing yet for the spring.  I just want to get the bedspreads done.  I suppose the tops are quilted, but I want to sew them with a machine.  I have yet to pull out the extra machine, and find out if it works.  That is today's project.

We have three kittens.  Pretty little things.  I just wish we had homes for them and the mother before they were born.  Kassie has a home for one kitten.

Karma I understand the impatience.  But I really enjoyed the surprise.

Jane that is good news.  Know that prayer is going up from this end of the world.

Etta Sue that is exactly what I do.  I only get 2 - 3 days worth to see if there is a reaction.  Saves a lot of money, as drugs are so expensive.

Well I am off for today.  I need to find out if the "other machine" actually works.  God bless and keep you.

Good Morning from the west coast where is is 8:30 am. I have been typing some posts on SN and sending off a long email to a friend. I have one load in the dryer and another ready for the dryer.

Jane Good new about Bry. He will be alright this time, he is older and now knows what he wants to do with his life, well almost.

Thanks Etta Sue for the info re Earthlink. So far so good but I am still using my cable  for  Internet until the Earthlink modem gets here. I do appreciate your input.

Hey Al where are you? Tell us what you did for your birthday inquiring minds want to know.  ;)

Janet I love Mary Kay cosmetics. Did you get all make up or did you get some of the cleansers too? The microdermabrasion  sure makes you skin feel clean and so soft.

Caril did you say your quilt is king sized, and you have lad the whole thing out on the floor?  If I had one that big I would have to take it to the church and set up several tables to lay it out on.

JudyB on the drapes that you want to put batting in  turn the drape inside out and  tack the batting in several places along the edges on one layer, when you  turn it back to the right sides  it will be ready to pin  before you quilt it. make sure you leave on end open until you are through with the quilting, then sew that end together.  Leaving the end open will help  to keep it from wrinkling while you are quilting it. I usually don't do any of the hemming until all the quilting is finished. The I put on the finishing touches.

Etta Sue~Bryan's intentions, from the beginning, were to make a career of the Army.  It's about being sent into heavy combat in Iraq at the age of 17; being beat up every day because of his age and "to make him tough"; seeing death and horror every day .... It's not about attitude it's about war and the fact he was already ADHD ... came home very broken and experiencing PTSD.... He spent several months homeless and on the streets ... STUFF!!

Thanks, Janet, Karma, JudyB and Marilyn for your prayers ...

Joy emailed yesterday that her husband John was taken to the hospital and kept overnight with very LOW blood pressure and very LOW heart rate.  They are running all sorts of tests to determine the cause.  This is a man who usually has high bp!  He has been really stressed over Bryan's circumstances and, Joy says, God just had to give him a time out until this passes.   :-\

She's going to be eight months old soon and is urgently needing prayer.

Jane, when I am inwardly fretting over "stuff" that needs to be done, and my arm is hurting and I'm not supposed to be doing anything, I have to remember that this is my time to "Be still and know that He is God."  Helps keep me calmer.

I don't understand about Bryan getting beat up everyday!  Darrel spent 7 years in the Army, and he tells me that if any soldier(s) ever beat up another one, he got arrested by the MPs and thrown in the stockade!  Did Bryan's officers not know what was happening?  That just simply should not be!!!  >:(

I have been working all day, and now I'm paying the price.  My back is hurting something fierce.  Might keep my mind off the arm.

Yes, Etta Sue, my surgery will be early Monday morning.  That's why I've been trying to get things in order around here today.  :-\  But, maybe not a good idea.

Marilyn, I will have the facial at a later date, after the surgery and the trip to St. Louis.  I have her card, so can call her and set the time for that.

Carol and Judy, I used to sew a lot, years ago, have hardly done any in the past twenty years.  And the only quilts I ever made were baby quilts for my kids---also years ago, of course!  ;)

I'm going to lie down for a bit, then need to go visit Beth and Mom.

Thanks for asking about my bd, Marilyn.  Telling what I did is more a confession than anything else.  I went to the local Papa Murphy's, bought a stufft chicken&bacon pizza, brought it home, baked it, and ate my fill.  Ooo that was good!  I was being bad, and I enjoyed it immensely!  So there.

Jane - I do pray that Bryan will adjust very, very well to the army this time.  I'm sure he will.  It'll be God's blessing.  Let him know that's what it was.

Of course not!!   >:(

Thanks, Al,  He does know that the Lord is with him and has kept him through all that he has come through.  He even has a tatoo of a cross made with nails between his shoulder blades because, he says, "God's got my back!"

Janet, Marilyn, I personally LOVE Mary Kay cosmetics.  I honestly feel that they are among the best on the market.  Of course, I also concede that I could easily be biased. :)  (For anyone that doesn't know, I've sold MK now for almost 5 years).  Enjoy your facial, Janet.  Of almost all the consultants I know, that is one of the favoritest parts of the business.

Have a great night! and rest of the weekend.

Jane ~ My apology.  I misunderstood about Bry.  I am so sorry about that.  If I heard the story before, my mind forgot it.  That happens a lot anymore. :-[  But again, he will do fine this time around.  I will pray that he loves the Army so much that he will make a career out of the Army.

Janet ~ Here's prayers for your surgery tomorrow.  Hope you are fine and the surgeons do the job right the first time.  Hope you get to sleep fast and wake up fast...after the surgeon is done.  And each minute after surgery you are better and better.

Church was awesome today.  Both sermons were on 'iFree'.  A new technology for meaning you are free when you have Christ in your heart.  Even though some people think they aren't free with Christ in their hearts...teenagers for one...can't do the things that others do etc...they are free.  Great sermons...both of them.  The post teen minister used a yard stick for emphasis in letting us know that people are always measuring themselves to others.  How good or bad they are for the spouse, their job, their parents, their kids, etc.  Then at the last he broke the yard stick and make a cross out of it... showing us that with the cross we are free.  The Bible verses were Galatians 2:11-21.

Photobucket must be down.  My graphics aren't showing right now...maybe later.

Jane ~ My apology.  I misunderstood about Bry.

No apology needed, Etta Sue ... I didn't mean to seem like I was upset    offended --- maybe a little defensive.   :-[  Not too many know even a part of his story because I have never shared it....only a little, here and there.  We all know that he is God's child and we have released all our concerns into HIS very capable hands.  That's really the very best -- and only -- thing we can do: PRAY!   :)

Wow we sure had an awesome sermon today on 2 Chronicles 20. Pastor preached right out of his heart this morning, all he had in his had was his Bible, no note and he was walking back and forth  in front of the platform.  This is one of those unforgettable sermons that I will remember for a long time.

Janet I am praying for you and will be praying in the morning. What time do you go into surgery?

Hi Sarah good to see you coming in now and then when you get a chance. You go girl.

I got the  baby quilt parts all pinned together front filling and back, and on the  big hoop. It is ready to be quilted.

Thank You for the advice Marilyn.

Jane I am praying for both situations.

Janet When you overdo it you will pay.  The doctor gives these orders for a reason, he does know what is best.  In the meantime now that you have overdone it will ice help with the pain?

Al a treat like that doesn't hurt once in a while.  Just don't do it every day. That wouldn't be good.

Hi Etta Sue and Sarah.  God be with you.

We had missionaries speak today.  Monty is in a terrible amount of back leg pain.  They are home for a year.  They are itching to go back as soon as possible.  YOu can see the way he walks that he is in pain.  A MRI is scheduled so they are on their way to Alberta to continue investigating the problem.  Please keep Monty in your prayers.

We have had a good day today.  We went to a friends for dinner after church.  What a wonderful time of fellowship we had.

Well I am off, Pat have a good day.
Love JudyB

Jane, I guess we all have those "untold stories."  Some of them, people can only handle a bit at a time, huh?

Marilyn, I'm to be at the hospital in Liberal (70 miles away) at 6:30 AM.  Thanks for the prayers.

Diane and Abby went to Kansas City to market, due home today, and I will rest easier once I know they are safely home.

Not much to say, but please remember me in prayer.  I do not anticipate any problems, but knowing people are praying will make me feel more secure.  Thanks.

Hello, Sarah, haven't seen much of you lately.  Hope all is going well.  Guess you will be heading back to school soon, huh?

Judy, I have been using ice, and yes, it helps.  Thanks.

Janet, I will also be in prayer for you -- and all the staff and technichians and everyone else who will touch your life tomorrow ....  <3

JudyB~ Thanks for your prayers.  Joy had a small update on John today but it isn't encouraging.  God is in control of that situation, as well ... it is always so wonderful to be able to trust everything into His keeping!

God bless all y'all as the day ends and a new day dawns .... <3
