Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

FOR YOU AL MOAK!!!

Yes, I did, Pat!  It was great!  And sorry for not mentioning it sooner.

Yes, our little great grand daughter is due on Sept. 17.  Curtis' birthday is the 16th, so he's hoping she arrives a day early; but the doctor thinks she may make her appearance as much as two weeks early.  I am so anxious to meet her!

Larry, I'm so sorry you and Pat are not getting to enjoy your GGchildren.  That's so sad.

Etta Sue, hope you get a med that agrees with you.  When you hear or read all the side effects, it makes you not want to take ANY meds!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AL!!  How old are you.....39?     I hope you have a wonderful day.

I'm so glad to hear your good news, Carol.  Heart problems are scary.  Larry is our resident expert on those!

The care home called to tell me that Beth "slid out of her wheelchair" a couple nights ago.  She wasn't hurt, but it scared them.  And her.

Time for lunch, then I have another appointment at 1:30, BETTER GET GOING!

I got a couple of weeks more samples.  This time it is Benicar HCT.  The doctor told me to be sure to stay home for awhile when I take this for the first time....just in case.  She didn't have to tell me that!! ::)  All of this is a new experience for me.  I have never gotten sick before taking a medication.  Now two things...a muscle relaxer during surgery and now Diovan HCT.

Parker, Ivalou's grandson, is with her today to finish painting what was started a month or so ago.  Ivalou's family room was added onto her house and it is a log room.  Panabow is the name of the company that you could order precut logs and put the room together by following the numbers.  Her husband used to make huge homes for people from Panabow logs.  Anyway, the outside needs painting every few years so Parker is doing that.  He is 13 now so very quiet.  When you ask a question, his answer is a one word answer!  We all went to Pizza Hut Buffet for lunch.  He is sure a growing boy and a bottomless pit!  He is almost 6' tall.

Now for the rest of my day.....NOTHING!  Too hot to stay outside, for sure.  To be 92° with 40% humidity.  Yucky weather unless you really like hot, sticky weather.

#3 child just called and he was just offered a great job.  It is nice to hear his excitement.

Colin:  I was wondering if you still posted  - it is very nice to see you!  Have a cup of tea  :coffee:

Etta Sue:  Wonder what is causing so many problems with your new meds?  I hope you find the right ones and they don't make you sick anymore.

Pat:  I thought I mentioned the Eagles Wings, it was lovely.

You and me, both!  And now today my eyes are watering like crazy.  I am truly getting tired of it all.  Now I am wondering if I have an allergy causing the tickle/cough/mucous.  I am not as bad as I was but I still have the tickle/cough/mucous.  Coughing a half a dozen times a day instead of three dozen times!!!  And thanks, Carol, for asking!!

Etta Sue when you find out please let me know!  I have had this tickle/cough/mucous for way too long!  I don't cough as much as I did at one time, but I still spend too much of my time coughing and spitting .... Seems worse after I've eaten or first thing in the morning ...   :-\   And, of course, when I'm someplace where it is an embarrasment -- like in church!!  :-[

Pat~At the risk of being far too redundant I can't don't even try to get anything from YouTube or things like that because I am on dialup and it just takes too long to download such things.   :-\  I'm sure it is really lovely, but I'll just have to take others' words for it.

Janet~I have 12 great grandchildren and never see them!  I very seldom see my grandkids, for that matter.   :-\

LET IT RAIN

Let it rain let it pour
Let thy showers of blessings flow
Let the living waters come
From thine Heaven to earth below

We are parched we are dry
Kiss with love each falling drop
From shrivelled hearts is the cry
Let the downpour never stop

The scorching sun the heat of day
Drinks the moisture that keeps alive
Without thy rain that quenches thirst
None of us can survive

The panting soul needs the pouring
It longs for clouds of rain to burst
When water droplets kiss our lips
Quick we drink to quench our thirst

Let it rain let it pour
Let falling showers never be done
For we know Lord life giving water
Comes from thine own blessed Son

Larry:  I must have been feeling selfish and rushing in here and missed your line about not seeing your great grandchildren.  How it must be a great hurt for you and Pat.  I am so sorry.  Cannot understand the human mind-set anymore but too many are warped and need to be smoothed - too stubborn to even realize their consequences.  I just keep praying that an angel will come to guide them.

Called the pool this morning and still it is closed for bacteria - I wish they didn't teach children in our pool although they are not saying the problem.  And, so many don't shower & have lotions on them even though there are reminders.  Need that exercise especially since I have been playing with our new vacuum cleaner.  :P

It rained 5 in. last night & we didn't get anything in the house - Thank the Lord!  We are on a hill but I saw pictures of some basement flooding, we kept watch and I was thinking of all of my sewing equipment in the basement & Don's workshop.  Flooded streets just down the hill at Fossil Creek (that is where they found a Wooley Mammoth.  Not in everyone's back yard  ;D

Love that song let it rain we sure could do with it here in South Australia water restrictions no sprinklers no hoses are to be used on the garden. If you want to keep your trees alive its by bucket. All of this and it is in the middle of winter too. Drought had hit Australia hard. So please dear God let it rain and if the rain is stopped by hard unrepentant hearts send some oil to soften the hearts so they may repent and follow you.

By the way where is the shout box? Also have a look at my new be hard at work photo, I really love the light as well as the bee capture. I had to sit for a while and my 4 year old thought I was nuts sitting amongst the bush and bees but  reckon it paid off. :coffee:

It has not stopped raining here for two months with more to follow. Looking out at grey clouds. See you all.

Jane ~ I am sure that if you read CP, you will hear what I find out about my tickle/cough/mucous.  For some reason, it seems my body is changing.  Never before have I had an allergy.  Never before have I taken medicine that made me sick to my stomach.  Now everything is suspicious!

Colin ~ Thank God you are back with us again with a great poem.  Now don't be a stranger, ya hear?  Send us your rain, please!

Carol ~ It hasn't rained here for a long time.  We sure need the rain.  We are way below the average rainfall for this year.  I would not have thought that was possible last spring when we were over flowing with rain!

outbackjack ~ So you are praying for rain also.  Seems the world is topsy-turvy with weather not being normal.  I looked at your photos....so great!

Embarq is 'fixing' their email so I didn't get email all day yesterday until late last night and now today, I can send email out.  Grrrr!  Computers are great friends...until they don't work right!

Not much happening today.  I took my first Benicar HCT and so far so good.  Almost 2 hours ago now.  Will call my doctor in the afternoon for an RX if I am still okay.  (Well, there are some who doubt that anytime.  )

Hi everyone.  When I tried to get home from coffee the traffic was stopped and there were three ambulances, a fire engine and numerous police cars.  I just now heard that a van veered off the road and slammed into a tree.  Two children had to be life-flighted to the hospital and the driver was also taken away in an ambulance.  Fortunately I was able to turn around in the street and get home a back way.

I am ashamed to admit it but confession is good for us so will tell on myself.  I had never realized the "New" button was live and took you to the new messages since your last posting.  All this time I have been hunting where I think I left off.  Guess we are never too old to learn.  :)

Pat and I are heading to the North Georgia mountains this afternoon for the weekend.  We are staying two nights in the Lodge at Unicoi State Park and attending a convention.  We are looking forward to the weekend as haven't been away overnight since we make the Denver trip about a year ago.  So won't be posting for a couple of days as am not taking my computer.

Carol, that was quite a rain.  Glad you had no flooding at your home.  We had a brief but intense rain shower here last evening about 9 pm.

I was on the phone twice yesterday with the tech rep for ATT about my DSL service as I am getting periodic internet drop outs.  This was the fourth time I called and finally I had drop outs while on the phone.  This rep was able to check something else and determined that my service was below the acceptable quality level.  They made an adjustment but got it up only from a 4 to a 6 and he said they don't consider anything less than 7 as an acceptable level.  They are sending out a tech to my home on Monday afternoon.  I won't be surprised if they don't have to put in a new line from the street.  I want the problem fixed as the DSL should be uninterrupted service and that is what I am paying them to provide.

Etta Sue, sure hope you new medicine doesn't make you sick.  It sounds like Ivalou has a nice new room.

Janet, thanks for your words about our great grandchildren.  It is sad but life deals us some things on occasion and we just have to learn to accept what we cannot change.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

karmat

Pat, Like Jane, I don't click on YouTube links because even the shortest ones take 20 - 30 minutes to load. :(  I wish I could see them.  I have hi-speed at work, but this site, as well as others like YouTube are blocked.  We have a very aggressive web block system in place and all sites that have "personal storage" like the gallery and "message boards or bulletin boards" are blocked.   It's rather aggravating at the best of times.

Hope all is going well for you.  It is almost the weekend  YEAH!!!

Sent you over a little rain as you requested Etta Sue...check out the gallery. Take care.

Hey, Colin!  Good to see you here again, and I loved your poem.  I am going to a new chiropractor here; he wanted to see something I had painted; so I took the "Jesus the Carpenter" one, along with a copy of your poem, for him to see.  He was very impressed, both with the painting and the poem!  He asked if he could take a copy of the poem, and the next time I was there, told me how much he likes it.  So thanks again for writing that lovely poem to go with my painting.  I love it!

Larry, I have some great grandkids right here in town that I never get to see, so I do understand how you and Pat feel, and you, too, Jane.  They are the grandchildren of my niece/adopted daughter, and she has decided she isn't related to us in any way anymore.  Since she works in the doctor's office where our doctor is, we see her occasionally, but she doesn't acknowledge our presence.  :(  As you said, life deals us some tough stuff sometimes.

Carol, what a rain!!  We have been praying for rain, and yesterday, we got a downpour---for a few minutes.  Darrel estimates we got about a quarter of an inch.  My guess was a half inch, but since he hasn't yet put up our new rain gauge, I don't know---but it was wonderful!!

Pat, did you not read my reply to you?  I did watch the video and commented on it.

The hotel messed up our reservation in St. Louis, had us down for JULY instead of August, and for ONE night instead of three, so I spent time on the phone this morning trying to straighten that out.  I told them I want a place to sleep when we get there!  :-\

I need to get the trash carried out to the pit and burned.  See you later.

Good day everyone.

I have been working on curtains and a bedspread for Kassie.  I have a drape that I have cut down into two short drapes, and I have enough left over to make a bedspread.  Problem is I have to join it .  I was wanting to put some batting inbetween the top and the bottom.  Not too sure how to do it, but I am woiking away at it.  I have a machine here that I have never used but it aparently works so I will give that a try, to finish this off.

Janet I am glad you had a good day judging.  Way to go girl!

Colin good to see you here and I love the poem.

Carol Glad the flooding didn't affect your material.  That would have been expensive to replace.  I am willing to bet you have material that can't be replaced!

Etta Sue I understand about medications and how they can cause digestive problems.  There are many I can't take.  Our bodies do change when we get older.  I am praying sis.

Larry enjoy the trip.  Sounds wonderful.  That new button was new to me a while ago as well.  Praying for journey mercies.

Many of us don't see our grandchildren.  It is hard, but life does get in the way.  The best we can do is pray for each of them.

Marilyn I received the new address.  Thank you.  I understand how painful that owie can be!

Nita Have you found out yet what you are having?  Grand son or Grand daughter?  I was always so pleased when one of my babies were born the surprise in finding our what it was.  Different day and age, it seems everyone wants to know ahead of time.  Somehow it spoils the surprise.  Different strokes for different folks.

Pat no I didn't watch that video clip.  I have dialup.

Well I am off, be back this evening.
JudyB

Janet

The sex of each of our three was a surprise, too, and all of the grandkids.  Even Abby, only 10 years ago.  Diane's doctor wanted to do amniocentesis, but she refused.  She said she saw no reason to spend all that money, and if there were something wrong with the baby, abortion would never be an option; and she wanted to be surprised when the baby came, with the sex.  :)  Of course we were all hoping for a girl, because they had the two boys already.  But most of the younger generation want to know asap, and even name the children before they arrive.  Just a different world now, I guess.

It is so humid here today, even though not as hot as it has been.

That sounds like quite a project you are working on, Judy.

Well, I have been waiting to tell the rest of the story re: Bryan  until I had more information.  And Joy and John have been waiting for "the other shoe to drop"  so they could have something to tell me.   :)

After a lot of waiting, interviews, written reports, and wavers signed all the way up (and down) the Army chain of command, Bryan is once again in the Army.  He had to clear up his record and pay some hefty fines in court for past traffic violations but he did that yesterday and then went to choose his job and be officially enlisted once again.

He thought, for a while, that he would have to go back into Infantry but "just happened" to see the Sgt. he had talked with the first time he enlisted and he remembered him and used his clout to override the opinions of the recruiter.

The recruiter said "Well by special recommendation from Sgt M. ... "  He was given highest security clearance for the job of "Signal Support Specialist" which is mostly positioning satellites.  When he is not doing that, he will be basically an IT ... working on and fixing computers.  He leaves for his base near Augusta, Georgia on the 16th of August.  He will have 20 weeks of training there and then be assigned to his next more or less permanent base. He signed up for 4 years.  He also receives a very nice signing bonus.

He thinks he will be "a better soldier" this time and I think he will enjoy his job a lot more.  He is not "the baby" this time and, as he told me, he will be in a place where he won't be beaten up every day to establish his toughness ... In this job it will be brains not brawn that establishes your status.  He also wants very badly to be able to "finish right" with the Army.  He could possibly decide to make a career of it if he finds the sort of work he's doing to his liking.

Actually, the Army is the best place for him since he has such trouble focusing and keeping a job ... they will tell him what to do and how to do it there. We're praying he is in with a good group of soldiers with whom he can establish lasting friendships.  Hopefully, there will be someone there who will serve as a mentor.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet

Jane, that is great!  My very best wishes to Bry....along with prayers, of course.  Life is just harder for some than for others, and several of us here on CP know that firsthand, with kids and grandkids.  Thanks for the update!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

karmat

jane, my prayers are with him!  it's not easy, under any circumstances, but I'm praying that God will give him grace to finish strong!

I guess I'm one of the "younger generation" :)  With both of my kids, I wanted to ASAP what it was.  I like surprises, but I'm not that patient. Just ask Bernard.  for the first two, I used the "excuse" of "practicality" -- we didn't have a lot of money or time to return "wrong gendered" things.  If I can ever convince Bernard to have #3, I won't have that excuse, but I'll find another one.  hahahahahahahahahahaha

Marilyn

Hello everyone. I am enjoying an extra day off. I finally got my new email all straightened out but I am waiting for the new modem to arrive before I can finalize everything.

Etta Sue I sent you an email back re earthlink?  Please let me know what the trouble was that you had with them. I am in for a year and there is nothing I can do about it.

Colin good to see you back again and your lovely poem.

Gotta go walk the dogs now than I will get back to sewing together the backing for my baby quilt, it is going to be reversible.

What a time these past few weeks with five of us friends - two are not speaking to each other and  two are having major health issues with cancer surgery.  One calls me to relay messages and I am in-between if you know what I mean and don't even care to know what they are miffed about.

JudyB:  I thought about what a flood would do here - we are on top of a hill but you should have seen the storm.  We have been through tornado damage in Minnesota, lost jobs (yes, that is plural), in Texas with kids in college and Don left a very crooked company - his wealthy boss asked him to do something wrong and he quit then we heard that she and her husband were in prison (oh, there is a God!!!!!  But - a huge financial blow to the family when 4 kids are in school.  Overcame that and all in all, I just have to remember that "things" are not important.  As for the fabric, yes, it is really nice & from a quilting shop but even that - well, I would try to rescue my sewing machine first I do think.  Hope it never comes to that!  Are you making dresses for fall & wintertime?  There are some nice and easy patterns for fleece jackets & pullovers.

Need to focus here and get back to work.  Carol

Hi Marilyn - good luck with your baby quilt, wish this one was a baby size.

Janet

Carol, I am so glad you didn't get flooded!  That is just awful, ruins nearly everything.

I forgot to tell you all about my blessing last night!  The Mennonite church here serves a lovely meal (hamburgers and fixings, lots of salads, then home made ice cream for dessert) every year to the Senior Center.  Our Director said she looked it up and this was their 30th year to do it, and 28 of those years, they did it twice a year.  Anyway, we went and enjoyed the meal, then went to "The first annual Fall fashion show" which was being put on by three clothing stores here in town.  They had a door prize to sign up for as we entered, and as we were leaving, they called my name as the winner!  :)  The prize was about $100 worth of Mary Kay cosmetics, plus a free facial!  Isn't that a nice prize?

I had some framing that really needed doing today, so I worked on that, and it doesn't seem to have hurt my arm too much, at least not yet.

Carol, isn't that the pits, being put in the middle of a squabble between friends?  Yuck.  Hope they sort it out and are friends again.

See you tomorrow!

Etta Sue

Good morning!

Jane ~ I am sure Bry will be fine this time in the Army.  This time he wants to do a fine job and even thinking he might make a career out of the Army.  Seems his attitude has changed for the positive...that means growing up.

Janet ~ Certainly glad your arm is better after doing some framing.  Are you still having surgery?  And congratulations on your Mary Kay prize.

Marilyn ~ If you do happen to have problems with Earthlink, you can use a different email venue and not use any of Earthlinks programs such as virus, firewall and such.  Since you are locked in, that's what I would do if you have problems.  Funny, I play Mahjongg games..three of them.  Every once in while I would start playing them and no music on any of them.  I would have to use my Restore back to the day before to have music again.  Since I have deleted everything that was Earthlink, I have not started Mahjongg without music.  But as I say, hopefully Earthlink in California is much better than Indiana.

Carol ~ I had a mini-flood here two years ago that got into the motor of my freezer in the basement.  Now I have the drain that went to field tile cemented up and a submerged sump pump installed.  Haven't had the floor completely wet since.

Karma ~ When I was reading your post, I thought you were going to tell us that #3 is on the way.  I don't think so, right?  How is Nards doing now!  Are you able to keep him from over working?

JudyB ~ So far so good with the new BP medication.  But from now on, I will 'test' the medicines before getting them long term.

Colin ~ You did send some rain!  We got it.  I was just over to my sister's and it started raining.  One of those 5 inch rain...drops are 5 inches apart.  Didn't cover my drive but it did rain.  Just enough to make it more muggy out there.  But thanks just the same.

Larry ~ Glad you found a back way home and avoided having to wait around for the accident to be cleared up.  That is the most devasting thing to be stranded on the interstate and can't go anywhere and have to wait it out.

I have already been to my bank to make a deposit.  I receive my IRA check around the third of the month and didn't go to the mailbox until too late yesterday to run it to the bank then.  Then when I got home, I saw my nephew at Ivalou's...the one that broke his heel in 32 places.  He isn't on crutches now but still not able to go back to work yet.  Still doing therapy.  His wife is going to paint Ivalou's double-door in her family room inside and out today.

I plan to veg out today.  Not much.  Just some reading perhaps

Wow Janet you are blessed with a gift!  After all the pain you have endured that is a treat.  The dinner sounds wonderful.  Now Janet don't go overdoing it cause you will pay for it tonight!!

Carol You are in a difficult situation.  I have been there.  The opposing sides need to have a good sit down talk.  I am not sewing yet for the spring.  I just want to get the bedspreads done.  I suppose the tops are quilted, but I want to sew them with a machine.  I have yet to pull out the extra machine, and find out if it works.  That is today's project.

We have three kittens.  Pretty little things.  I just wish we had homes for them and the mother before they were born.  Kassie has a home for one kitten.

Karma I understand the impatience.  But I really enjoyed the surprise.

Jane that is good news.  Know that prayer is going up from this end of the world.

Etta Sue that is exactly what I do.  I only get 2 - 3 days worth to see if there is a reaction.  Saves a lot of money, as drugs are so expensive.

Well I am off for today.  I need to find out if the "other machine" actually works.  God bless and keep you.
