Morning Devotional...

Worship:
In Need of Worshipers

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. --Acts 6:4

Well, we have great churches and we have beautiful sanctuaries and we join in the chorus, "We have need of nothing." But there is every indication that we are in need of worshipers.

We have a lot of men willing to sit on our church boards who have no desire for spiritual joy and radiance and who never show up for the church prayer meeting. These are the men who often make the decisions about the church budget and the church expenses and where the frills will go in the new edifice.

They are the fellows who run the church, but you cannot get them to the prayer meeting because they are not worshipers....

It seems to me that it has always been a frightful incongruity that men who do not pray and do not worship are nevertheless actually running many of the churches and ultimately determining the direction they will take.

It hits very close to our own situations, perhaps, but we should confess that in many "good" churches, we let the women do the praying and let the men do the voting.

Because we are not truly worshipers, we spend a lot of time in the churches just spinning our wheels, burning the gasoline, making a noise but not getting anywhere.
Dr. Tozer in Whatever Happened to Worship?, 16-17.

"Lord, make the men in our church, especially the leaders, men of prayer and worship. Please don't allow us to try to lead others where we have not been; don't let us spin our wheels because we are not worshippers. Amen."

Oh boy Pat that devotional really hit the nail on the head big time. I see that every week right in my own church.

I just found out today that I will be without a job in a few days. My patients son is moving her into a Board and Care home even as I type this. However she will still be in her place for a day or two. I will be helping her with her transition from one place to the other.

The most important thing for the elders is that they feel happy and safe where ever they maybe living. Now I will not have to deal with the phone calls a all hours of the night, just because she woke up and don't know the time. Or lifeline calling me because she is confused about what time I come into work for her.

I just pray that it will not be very many days in between jobs and that I have another right away. So as you read this please say a little prayer for me.

I have been ofered a part time job on Saturdays as Relief manager at  a friends local storage facility. It is the Hide-away storage places. I will start training  soon, I have done this work before.

That is a very good and very necessary devotional, Pat.  I wonder, though - was it quoted from someone, and, if so, who?  I ask because I'd like to take a quote from it for a thing I'm writing on worship.

And Father, I pray You will provide Marilyn with another job quickly through our Lord Jesus Christ, and may it even be a better one.

Thanks Marilyn.  I enjoyed it as well.  It sure spoke to my heart.

Al, I've added "Dr. Tozer" to the sentence where it says the book it's from and the pages.

Dr. Tozer in Whatever Happened to Worship?, 16-17.

Thanks, Pat, for the devotional.  I almost knew it had to be Dr. Tozier, tho!  That was before you added the reference.  Very timely and appropriate to a lot of areas in our churches.

Pat I have copied the devotional and sent it on to my pastors. We have a man on our board who hasn't been to church  in months let alone ever coming to prayer meeting. But I saw the family in the church parking lot on Saturday having  yard sale. Plus we are short two board members who have left the church.

Lots of wheaten bread this morning with fresh lemon curd!

Enjoy! :cup:  :bible:

Wow I was sure having withdrawal symptoms. I am so glad we are back on.

So much to say and now I am at a loss for words.

Yesterday we got Ruth moved into the Board and Care home. I will be paid for this week at my regular pay rate. I will be working next week with a friend organizing her office, doing some filing etc. I was also offered a couple of days work by one of the men at the senior center. So I am sure I have enough to tide me over until I get another job. I am just hoping I can pay the bills.

I went o Costco this morning for a few items then I went to see Ruth  and keep her company or awhile, I am trying to help her through the transition and get settled in the new place.

time to fix my supper.

I'm so very, very happy that we're back online.  It's been terrible viewing that big blank screen.

I'd like to publicly thank Ian, my dear son, who has helped us get back online.  He has a very close friend who has had a very serious heart attack and now must have (and maybe already had) triple bypass surgery in London, Ontario and that's why Ian was unable to help us last evening.

It's just so good to be back now.

CP withdrawls are over.

I have just finished reading a book written by Robin McGraw -Inside My Heart.   Choosing to live with passion and purpose  This is a book that I would recommend for anyone to read.

Have a wonderful evening.

Ruth

I have just noticed the spell check button and now I am asking how come it is not working?

I'm so glad we are back on, I missed us!  ;)

Pat, I wish I could taste the wheaten bread, and not just cyber.  Sure sounds good.

I have done a whole lot of nothing these past two days.  I hope I don't get too lazy, but my arm and hand sure feel a lot better.

Saturday is Abby's 10th birthday, and she is full of hopes and plans for that.

I'd better stop typing now.  :-\

Hi everyone.  I am also glad to see we are back online.  I kept checking and knew it would be restored in due time.  Thanks Ian for your help to your mother and to all of us.

Pat, that was a powerful devotional and before I saw you had written it I also felt it must have been Dr. Tozer.  His words are always so powerful.

Marilyn, I have also said a little prayer for you that you will not be out of work very long.  Do you work through an agency or department of health?  Glad you have some short-term jobs in view to carry you for a little while.  I was saddened to read of the two ladies you spoke of having the terminal cancer. It is hard to imagine not having a tongue.

Etta Sue, glad to see you back home.  It sounds like you had a nice time.  I bet your kitties were glad to have you back home.

Welcome to John81.

Sarah, it sounds like you needed a couple of days off.  Hope you were able to get rested a bit.

JudyB, thanks for the anniversary wish.

Janet, I miss your wonderful postings but glad to see you are minding your doctor and giving your arm and hand a rest.

Carol, our daughter has been working two days now and seems to be liking it.  Yesterday was tough as it was very hot here and the air conditioning in their training facility was broken.  They called off the day at 2:30 as it was unbearable for them all but they got to count the full day as work.  Today she said it was a lot better and they are beginning to learn the computer system.

It is getting late so will just say good night.

I really thank you for posting Dr. Tozer's words here, Pat.  I'm writing a paper on the subject of worship just now, so it's likely I will quote from that.

Whew! 8:15 a.m. until 9:45 pm certainly makes for a very long wor day - and this one filled with computer crashes, 2 corrupted records I had to track down from 3/20/2007!

The computer tech (really a wizard) quizzed me, fiddled with the computer, had me run through some of my "daily antics" and finally said, "Mrs. Bice, I truly believe your computer is the hardest working computer in North America!" With the "fiddling" he did and etc, along with the strange things I've noticed in the past 3 weeks (and logged just-in-case), it's not crashing each time a program (you know - just trying to open up Microsoft Word, for instance) either stalled after a 10-minute wait for it to open, froze the Word program itself, or crashed the entire computer.

At any rate, yesterday was marginally "positive" with the up/down/sometime/maybe trainee. Today he didn't show up, and didn't call in until after 1 pm Eastern time. All last week (the 4 days minus the Fourth holiday) it took him upwards of 2 3/4 hours to complete a task that I completed with my boss watching the work on screen, in 26 minutes flat. (Even with the slow starts of various software packages!)

So, when you don't hear from me, it's not because nothing's happening down here - likely too much is happening!  :(

Nite, all.

Whew!  That was terrible not hearing from my friends for so long.  Glad we are all back together again.

I just got home from a hilarious show at Beef and Boards.  The show was called 'Smoke on the Mountain'.  The year was 1938.  It's Saturday night at Mount Pleasant and Reverend Oglethorpe has invited the Sanders Family Singers to provide an upliftin' evening of singin' and witnessin'.  The audience is invited to pull up a pew and get ready for a rollicking good time.  More than two dozen songs from 'Amazing Grace' and 'I'll Fly Away' to 'Church in the Wildwood' and 'Wonderful Time Up There' and hilarious stories from the - more or less - devout Sanders, provide a richly entertaining show that will have you clapping, laughing, cheering and singing along.  I do believe out of all the shows I have seen, this one is the best!!

Tomorrow is Red Hats Society!  We are going to an art gallery somewhere!

We're back. :)

I just came in to check and here I are.

Etta Sue, I have the tv on, and a song was playing just as I saw your cute kitty bouncing to the music coming from his headphones.  I had to watch him and smile till the song was over.

ok, now that I know we're back I'm going to bed. lol

Oh, Pat....I love the devotional.  Dr. Tozer is always and forever so timely.  I wonder if there's anyone who doesn't think he was a true man of God?  I've not read one thing that didn't prick me or stir me or encourage me in the Lord.   Not many Christian authors have I had such high regard for.

Night, all.   Nita

Hi everyone.  Just wanted to stop in and say good morning.  We are suppose to have rain here today.

A couple of days ago I helped a friend with her computer.  She picked it up from me yesterday but when she went to plug it in found the power cord wasn't with it.  My friend forgot to put it back with everything else when he finished getting it working.  So he will give it to me this morning and I will go back to this friends house to help her get it up and running.  She had installed a video cam and it fouled up her computer.

Etta Sue, glad you had such a delightful evening.  It is too bad we don't have more of these things available although I probably wouldn't attend anyway.  I remember years ago we loved to attend the Dinner Theaters in Kansas City and then in Virginia or Maryland.

Ruth Ann, it doesn't sound like the trainee is going to be able to learn the job or perhaps doesn't want to do so.  I hope I am wrong.  It sounds like you are about ready for a new and more powerful computer.  I was just reading about a quad processor that is coming out.  You could work 4 times as fast.  I am sure that is just what you want to do.  :)

Pat, hope you were able to get a good nights rest.

Hi Everyone!

Just dropped in to announce that my first book 'Kidz Battle Zone' was released here in Australia on 07/07/07.  It was a wonderful occassion with children at our kids camp praying to release the book!  The response to the book has been amazing! All praise to Jesus!!

I've set up a website for the book. You are all more than welcome to have a look and sign the guest book:  www.kidzbattlezone.com (http://www.kidzbattlezone.com)

We are all doing well - it's our coldest month now - LOL!  My hubby George, leaves for India again in early August. He will be away for 6 weeks this time, so I'd appreciate your prayers for him and us, while he is gone.

God bless each one of you!

Hi Everybody,

[Misty saunters in with a mug of Bushells tea in one hand (strong, white, no sugar) and his regular plain buttered (real butter not that margarine stuff that he can't eat) rice cakes. Misty not only has to worry about what comes out of his mouth, but what goes in to it as well.

He smiles and gives a big friendly wave of his rice cracker (he forgot last time and used the wrong hand and had to go back for another cup of tea).]

Heard the voices, smelled the coffee, so I thought I'd pop in before I go off and try my hand at a gallery and stuff. Nice to see a caring and sharing group here. LOVE the cat. I only recently learned how to animate gif images myself a couple of months back. Praying too Marylin that the Lord has some good things planned for you on the employment front.

Sadly the devotional is so tue even though I am privileged to know some excellent exceptions to that rule. Some wonderful worshipping warriors who are not afraid of the intimacy to which we are called. Sadly today's world discourages intimacy (that's platonic intimacy), especially between men. But we are not of this world and we need to understand and embrace the spiritual intimacy to which Jesus calls us. We are not men running and organisation ... we are men in battle!

Men in battle form some of the most intense, deeply personal, strong, enduring and intimate bonds because they share more than just pleasentries - they share life ... and death!

AS MEN IN BATTLE

Let us be as men in battle,
There's no place for pretence here.
Hurt and pain lie all around us.
Comfort freely, shed a tear.

Let us be as men in battle,
Closer than even brothers be.
Not bearing arms but baring hearts,
Unashamed before the enemy.

Let us be as men in battle,
Share each others agony.
Support the battle weary soldier,
Defend another on bended knee.

And though your orders send you hither,
And my orders bid me stay,
Let the bond of love grow stronger,
Whether near or far away.

For links forged in the heat of battle
Never perish or fade away.
On such bonds you can depend.
For such bonds did Jesus pray.

Thanks Misty for the prayer. I can use all of those I can get.

I have been to Curves already this morning and one lady knows someone whose mother is going to be needing a caregiver when she gets out of rehab recovering from a fractured hip. Right up my alley. I learned all the physical therapy for that when Ruth fractured her hip.

However, The lord has been speaking to me about doing more for him too. I must talk to my Pastor about this. I know  and all y-all know that I wear  many hats at church doing all the things  I do plus filling in for  anyone who doesn't show up. Adult Sunday school secretary, greeter, intercessor, going ½ hour early to make the coffee and set up the fellowship hall for the Sunday school teacher, operating the power point for the over head, inputting songs into power point, altar worker etc. But I feel like God wants to stretch me even more. There isn't much left for me to do is there?

Wow I gt to go to my Tai Chi class this morning, I haven't been for a few weeks I need the focus, relaxation and the workout.  Then I am going to Ruth's house to get some stuff for her, and take her to lunch her in McKinleyville at the Senior center. This afternoon is mine all mine. Yippee  Bible study tonight.

Must get started here.

Nita ~ Glad you like the bopping cat.  It made me think of my new cell phone.  You can upload songs onto it.  I figured that on VCast they wouldn't have my type of songs...50's music and Christian music...so I uploaded from my pc.  I have 175 songs on it now.  Think of this....an almost 65 year old with her cell phone earplugs in her ears and bopping to the music!  Okay...that's enough thinking!!   :o

I am all ready to go to Ivalou's and watch for our ride to Red Hats.  We are going to an art gallery in Zionsville.  It is at an old church converted into an art gallery.  Will let you know more about it when I get back.

I pray that everyone has a God filled day!!

Guess I missed out on 'missing' the site....was in Victoria and didn't tune in!
We are having 90+ heat and not used to it at all...from 60's & low 70's to 90's is a little much all at once.  No air conditioning in the house as not used to that much heat in this part of the country.  Think that may soon change if this becomes normal.

Karen, congrats on your book and I checked out the site.  Are those your lovely kids in the pictures???  I plan to go back and check things out further when time permits.  You have a merry face...it makes me smile :)

Etta Sue, this person is nearly 10 yrs. older than you and still bopping with the music!  Never too old to be HAPPY!

Misty, thank you for an interesting post.  You might want to know that my reference in posts about MISTY is about my MainCoon cat.  Just so there is no confusion.  Right now she is suffering from the heat and not at all pleased with life.

Marilyn, I am praying for you to find steady work again.

That was a helpful devotional, Pat.  Sometimes I feel something is wrong with me for seeing depth lacking in our churches now.   Glad to learn others also wonder.  So much posturing and performing.....so little genuine caring and devotion.

Lots of things waiting to get done.  The kids had a great time in the States and brought back piles of ironing for me to do.  Also some neat little presents....Poor Squeek (Wendy's cat) was so lonely and wanted me to hold her all the time.  She is looking much more content now!

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

I am going to risk typing a bit today, to share a blessing.  This morning I went to the Care Home to see Mom and Beth.  When I walked into her room, Beth looked at me, then at the floor and confessed "I have been really naughty."  I asked what she'd done, and she said that all this time she has been blaming ME for her being in the care home.  I reminded her that it wasn't my idea, wasn't my decision, I did all I could for her for as long as I could, and she agreed that was all true.  But, she said, she blamed me, and the staff, ad the doctors, and anyone else she could think of, for her fate.  She recalled that it broke my heart as much as hers when she had to go there, and she apologized to me for blaming me, even in her mind.

I asked what brought about the revelation, and she said they had sent someone from Mental Health to talk to her (they have been promising this for a year!) and that she's been talking to the chaplain, too.  Anyway, now that she is over that hurdle, I hope she will have more peace of mind about her situation, even though it hasn't changed.  Thanks for reading.

Hi, Liz!  Hi Carol, Etta Sue, Larry, Al, Misty, Marilyn, InspiredGal, Nita..........everybody!

OH!!  Nita, go to biblesondvd.com and look--they are advertising the Bible plus lots of extras, for only $29.95 a set.  Might be just what you want.

Well, I just wrote a long (and whiney) post and it disappeared into cyberspace so that tells me I didn't need to be posting it in the first place!   :-[

I was confessing a bad attitude toward someone whom I considered was harrassing me for over a week.  I will, instead, ask you to pray for me that I will keep my attitude under control when she calls me again tonight.  I have prayed and confessed and I really don't want to be mean or rude to this person.

Pinkie~It really is great to see you again!  Let me, also, wish you a happy birthday (when it arrives) and I look forward to seeing you around here more often.

Janet~That is really a very good reason for you to "risk typing" today.  In fact, your post about Beth is what prompted me to write  about my "problem."   :-\  However, I will not repeat it.   ::)

I think I need to stop while I'm ahead ... see y'all later ......

Good on you, Jane!  Positive thoughts will bring positive results....?  Now, I thought about sunshine and here we have 100 deg. and rising.  Help!!

Janet, your post inspired me to come and say how happy it makes this person to learn that Beth understands you only want what is best for her.  I pray for her on a regular basis, as do many here on CP.

Did some ironing, not a lot.  Now am taking a book and going outside to try and find some sort of shade....also to check on Misty and make sure she is okay.  Heat is so hard on animals with a lot of fur. (Also those of us without fur) Trying to find someplace that will do cats, so we can have her fur trimmed and all that stuff.  They seem to only like dogs around here.....

Pinkie, I think of you and it is good to see you post.

                                              :)

God Bless,

Liz

Ah Pinkie so good to hear from you.  I though maybe you took off with my biker friends. (an inside joke y-all she knows)

Had a great lunch at the Center today, grilled halibut, wild rice pilaf, crunchy zucchini and bell peppers and a green salad. I noticed that Ruth's dementia has gotten worse just in the last two days. She was so depressed today and mad 'cause she couldn't use the phone to call her son. She would call him  over 10 times per day even while he was working.

Bible study tonight so I am outta here,

Hi everyone.

This has been an interesting day and an enjoyable one.  I had expected to need to go to a friends house to help her setup her computer after my friend Rod had gotten it where it would work again.  We hadn't returned the power cord so she couldn't even test it.  I was going to take it over and help her but she returned my call about noon and said she was going out to lunch so would stop by and pick up the power cord, which I had here.  This she did.  She called me while I was eating supper and said her mouse wasn't working so I told her I would come over and see if I could help her.  I finally got both her wireless keyboard and mouse working but have no idea exactly how.  That was a relief.

Our son was here for about 2 hours this afternoon and we had a nice visit.  His wife was at a doctor's appointment so we didn't get to see her.  He was going to replace the works in the faucets on our tub, which had started leaking.  He took it apart and found a little piece of plastic that had come from the hot water heater that was preventing the valve from completely closing.  He took it out and put the faucet back together and all seems to be fine.

Janet, I am so glad that Beth has finally faced her situation and realized it is not your responsibility nor desire that she be in the care home.  It is a shame they took so long to work with her but eveyrthing happens in God's time and obviously it was now.

Etta Sue, how is the sounds of your music through your phone?  I suppose with earphones it is probably like any other MP3 player.

Liz, I think we have your cool weather and you have our heat at the moment.  We had some more rain this afternoon and it is about 72.  However, the humidity is pretty high which makes it seem warmer.  Glad your family is back.

Jane, sorry your acquaintance is harrassing you. We don't have to accept that type of behavior and have the right to let that person know that it upsets you.  We don't have to be anyones drum to beat on.

Pinkie, good to see you are feeling up to posting.

Carol, I am spending a lot of time listening to Pandora since I get to select the type of music I want to hear and reading rather than having the TV on.  However, this evening our PBS station is having a program on Les Paul and then followed by one on Chet Atkins and I plan to watch them.  Les Paul is still performing at 92 years of age.  Of course, Chet Atkins is no longer with us but was a wonderful artist.

Marilyn, glad to read that something may be on the horizon for you shortly in terms of a caregiver job.  Glad you are getting a little break.  It is nice of you to take Ruth to the Senior Center for the meal.

Mistman, nice to see your posting and thanks for sharing that very moving poem.  I agree with you that our society has done nothing to promote brotherly bonds between men.

Karen, it was very nice to read of your successful launch of your book.  I am sure it is a lot of work to get a book published.  Hope it is a big seller and there will be more on the way if that is what you want to do.

I was away all day yesterday and missed y'all!

I must say that I was so happy and blessed to read your poem, Misty!  Please continue to share.  I may print that out (with your permission) and put it inside my Bible.

Pinkie, my dear friend.  It's so very good to see that you posted.  I'm praying for you daily here in Guelph!

Hi to everyone I've missed.  So good to hear about Beth, Janet.

Just a smile that I received from a friend in Georgia yesterday...

Georgia is so dry that:

The Baptists have started sprinkling.

The Methodists are using a wet wash cloth.

The Presbyterians are giving rain checks and,

The Catholics are trying to turn wine back into water

The Pacific Northwest is known for its raininess.  I wonder if the same groups (Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Catholics) might experience a higher-than-usual rate of drowning during baptisms!
Our church here in McKinleyville uses a place called Moonstone Beach for its baptisms.  A very small river enters the ocean there, and along the tidewater portion of the stream there is a beach that is bounded on one side by the ocean, the other by the river.  So there's a nice sandy beach there to walk right down into the water.  The whole congregation gathers on the shore.

Good Morning I have had 2  :coffee: this morning, I usually only have 1  :coffee:.

I have just finished cleaning my kitchen. I am not working today but I am going to go to the Arcata Senior Center and to the Tai Chi class there which is a bit different than the one I have been going to for the last  almost 4 years. Most of the moves are different. there are many different "forms" as it is called.

Wonderful poem Misty, your intro is awesome.

Janet what a blessing for you and for Beth too. Such a heart cleansing is going on everywhere.

Pat do you know which Trish posted about her mom in the shout box. Is this Paulette's daughter?

Liz sorry to hear that you are having such a heat wave there on the island. I know you are glad Wendy is back home.

Larry You are always so faithful to comment to everyone who has posted something.

Jane I am praying for you sister.

Would all y-all pray for direction for me and if the Lord speaks something specific to you please email me.?  I talked with my Pastor last evening and told him that I don't want any interference from my own thoughts or his  suggestions it has to be from the Lord.

Hi Al did you get my email with the poster I want you to  post at your church.

Good Morning....for a short time.  (As I was proof-reading this, it is past noon...so good afternoon)

Yesterday was great.  The food was so so with a big price on it.  I kept adding salt to get some flavor out of it.  We went to The Sanctuary...an art gallery of N A Noel (http://www.nanoel.com/) paintings.  I am sure many of you have seen her paintings.  I loved all the angel ones.  Then the six of us ladies went to a fairly new shopping mall...an outdoor mall.  We only went in one store...a kitchen store.  If the item you needed wasn't there, then you certainly don't need it.

Please pray for John Jordan (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070712/LOCAL0703/707120511/1139/LOCAL07).  He was my delivery postman while I lived in Greenfield.  They found his truck parked downtown.  He would park his truck and walk his route.  They haven't found him.  Such a nice Christian man.

I am trying to decide if I am going to mow my lawn or not.  It is so dry again but we are having an Open House about a block from me tomorrow.  We had an exchange student my Senior year in high school from Germany.  Ute is visiting her 'sister', Jayne.  So Jayne sent out invitations to the Class of 1960 to surprise Ute!!  Now, you say...what is mowing my lawn to do with that?  Vanity, I guess.  I would like my yard to look nice for those in my class that will driving past my house.   ::)

Oh, yes!  Larry, I am certainly surprised how great the music sounds on my cell phone.  Just as good as my stereo system in the car or my living room.  And the songs I downloaded were from CD's that I uploaded to my computer and then downloaded to my cell phone.  Just great....except when I hit the play button on the cell phone by accident and it starts playing a Hawaiian song.   :-[

Just breezing through right now.  We are having VBS this week, and it seems like that throws all manners of schedules out of the window.

Pat, thanks for the grins.  I have shared that already.  :)

We had a mighty noisy thunder and lightning display last night, but nothing WET.  Other parts of Kansas are flooded, and we are baking in the hot sun, dry as tinder.

Etta Sue, we saw that play a few years ago, and I agree, it was great fun.  I looked at the artwork of Noel, thanks for the link.

I am still doing a lot of nothing.  I'm afraid if I learn how to be lazy, I might LIKE it!  :-\   Pain is much less, and I am grateful for that.

Hi everyone!

Just popping in while my girls are at the dentist.

Today I finished processing and burning the photos for our church from our constitution service (we're no longer a mission church, but a real live SBC church) BBQ and Baptism, week of VBS, plus "Fun in the Park", the community event that our church puts on (free to the public) each year to wind up our VBS week.  Whew!  I took over a thousand pictures during the week.  That's a lot of work.  I'm glad to be done with them.

I begin planning for school next week, also finishing records for this year for my oldest daughter's transcripts.

My girls and their cousins made a great music video to "Move It" that's quite funny.  Wish I could share it with you all.  Maybe if she posts it on You Tube, I can give you all the link.  One of my nieces is playing a gangster type and the other one a basketball player.  My youngest daughter is playing the Prep. (means rich, snotty, prissy, type)  They all are dancing their own style and interacting a little in their different characters.  It's really a hoot!  I'd love to know if it's just me, the proud mother and auntie, or if it's really as good and funny as I think it is.

103 degrees here today.  Yuck!  I hate the heat.  Gives me an excuse to hybernate in my air conditioned home, though and process photos since it's too hot to go out and shoot.  Don't really have the energy anyway.  Maybe a little still life on my dining room table, like I've done before.  Tee hee.  My husband occasionally comes home to find me under a "tent" I've rigged up and standing on top of our table.  Between my two creative daughters and my photography, he never knows quite what to expect upon his arrival each evening.  He's a brave man to come home. :)

Blessings to you all!

Etta Sue, how far are you from Greenfield now? I may be there in September to visit my best friend. She suggested possibly the three of us could meet while I'm there if you're not too far away.

Well, this is wedding weekend, so I'll be outta here from tonight through the weekend.

Would appreciate a bit of prayer for tomorrow. Must do a required report (state laws require it) at 4 a.m. tomorrow morning so I can get on the way. The rehearsal dinner is at 7, with rehearsal itself at 5, so with the drive to get there, then unload, cook, check in to the hotel, etc., it just possibly will be a very long day.

Fortunately the repair shop could fix the truck in record time today. At 7 this morning, they literally took a stethoscope to it to figure out what the "screaming" and "chirping" was, then obtained the parts while I worked. Told me to call on the way there when I could get away from work (about 2:30)  so they could clear a bay for me. Had me sit for the tiniest bit of time (less than 45 min) and then sent me on my way with a happy little white truck. I expect, since they're Isuzu certified, I'll be seeing them mroe often. XD

A prayer request, please. My son needed to go to the doctor he has been in such agony with his head this week. And literally made me turn around and go back this afternoon - he couldn't stand the ride, the light, and was sobbing with tears rolling down his face on the way home. He wants so badly to be able to be at the wedding, but for certain, God will need to intervene. I can't stay in Nashville to do the driving. So, if he's able to ride tomorrow, I can take him, but otherwise, he'll need to be capable of driving himself to Alabama Saturday morning - the wedding's at 1 pm Saturday.

Y'all have  a great weekend.

Hi everyone.  I have a few minutes before picking up my next door neighbor and going to the Senior Center for Friday Men's Coffee.  We take turns driving and this is my week.  Then later this morning I see my internist for a physical.  After lunch I had another appointment with the dermantolist  as have a little place on the end of my nose that the doctor thought I needed to have it checked out.  I will probably have a sore nose in the morning.

Ruth Ann, sorry to read that you son is suffering so.  Having once been subject to very severe headaches, obviously not as bad as your son suffers, I can still empathise with him.  Hope you have a nice time at the wedding.

Kathleen, I can't image trying to work up 1000 pictures.  What a job.

Janet, from the flooding pictures we are seeing out of Kansas I wonder if dry is preferable to the flooding.  Nothing wrong with enjoying some idle time.

Karmat, our chuch is also having VBS this week.  They usually have about 200 children participate.

Etta Sue, sure hope they find your postman.  That is a strange story and hope nothing bad has happened to him.

Pat, I liked your funny about baptism.  I don't think anyone one drown with the Presbyterian baptism.  We have had water rationing for a long time.  :)
Al, you all still batpise in the traditional way in the river.  The church I grew up in had a baptismal font back of the choir.  The church, which was pretty small, often has a musty smell from being closed up and the standing water.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Marilyn, hope your new class gives you some new moves to work on.

We met all our children and grands in Littleton for a joint summer birthday party last night - so much fun.  Don said again how blessed we are to have such a great family.

Larry:  I put together on station of Celtic music and want to add the Irish Tenors but the site can't find it - any ideas?  I may still have a very old Chet Atkins record, I took a player and a couple of records off to the room I rented while at U of Washington.

Liz:  Stay cool

Al:  Baptism by the river, a sweet tradition.

Ruth Ann:  My heart goes out to your son.

Janet:  Isn't it marvelous when something big changes, I mean Beth really knows your concern and care and how marvelous that she realizes --

Marilyn:  A doctor told me to not worry about my mother regressing with Alzheimer's Disease, she was just going back to be three-years-old again.  So, your friend will be alright, it looks like the prayers are answered for her care.  Carol

They still haven't found the postman in Greenfield.  I watched the evening news and the late night news and nothing.  You can read more about him here (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070713/LOCAL0703/707130476/1141/LOCAL0703) and here (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070712/LOCAL0703/707120511/1141/LOCAL0703) if you want.  I have such fond memories of John...he was so friendly and seemed to care about everyone.

Ruth Ann ~ Your friend is in Greenfield?  I lived in Greenfield 32 years.  Now I am 25 miles away but I still attend church there.  Let me know when you are in Indiana and I will make it a point to meet up with you.

Janet ~ I knew you would enjoy the N A Noel website.

Today is the surprise Open House for Ute.  Jayne lives about a block away and it is sunny so I will walk there since she has a single lane driveway.  I have my old annual and my roster sheet of classmates.  I want to get email addresses is possible of the men so I can invite their wives to our 60 Chix luncheons.

Good Morning. I am ready to go so I have lots of time to compose a post.

I am going to Tai Chi at 8:30, then out to gt Ruth, take her to the lab for a TB test and on to the Senior Center. Her son is to meet us there with my paycheck.

At 2:00pm I have an appointment to go to Blue Lake to teach another caregiver how to  show her how to cleanup her computer and to use word. She is not compter literate at all. The only thing she knows is how to get her email.

I have called Gilbert to see if they will be home but havenot been able to reach them, I wanted to stop by there too, while I am in Blue Lake.

The Lord bless each of you today!  And may our dear and merciful Lord bless our undeserving nation as well and deliver us from traiterous congressmen and senators who are aiding our enemies in Iraq by trying to limit our president's prerogatives under the constitution.  May our God also aid the inspectors in Indiana who are trying to find the missing postman.

We made a major move in the last couple of days by changing from one credit union to another one, paying off our mortage (by borrowing from ourselves), etc.  Big stuff for us. So now, today, have to go do our grocery shopping over in Eureka.

Hello from a rainy western NC.

Bible school is going well.  this is the first time I have taught a class.  Usually, I do the music, but I told them last year I didn't want to do that anymore.  I'm loving teaching.  I've got a class of 2, 3, and 4 year olds.  :)  It's fun to watch them learn at that age.  We have about 50 kids at our VBS.  That doesn't sound like a lot until you consider we've only got 12 - 14 kids that come to our church regularly. (It is a very small church).  we are learning about the Armor of God.

Hope everyone has had a good week and is ready for the weekend!!

Take care

Good Morning all,

Sorry have been scarce, I have been reading and praying. It was a little hard being a left handed typer..lol. But I have been praying with each post I read.

Well, the stitches are out. The doctor had told me they found an unusual amount of arthritis for my age. When I saw him this past thursday they told me that it may never be any better. But we are waiting another month and doing some light physical therapy. So we shall have to wait and see.

With all the time on my "hands" I have been able to update the website Colin and I have been working on. It is a joy to work on the website and a joy to work with Colin. If you would like to check out the latest additions and improvements you can go to  Colin's Faith Inspirations (http://www.colinsfaithinspirations.com).

May you all have a God filled and blessed day!

Still trusting in Him,

Good Morning  It is 5:37 am here on the West coast. I have been out of bed for about 45 minutes awake for just over an hour. All is so quiet and I just heard the first car go by outside. It is starting to get lighter, the dogs have been fed and Happy is here next to me where he spends his time when in the house and Bebe is outside. Usually it is the other way around.

I went to Blue Lake to help my friend clean up her computer and make a letterhead for her to use. She will do well, she knows more about the computer than I thought. I showed her this website  and hope she will sign on.

I missed Gilbert and the family while I was in Blue Lake, He had to go to town and wasn't home.

Today is Fay's (remember her?) 98th birthday, I will be spending this afternoon with her celebrating her birthday. We are all going to the Oriental Buffet to eat.

Hi Jeannine I have been to the website looking around. I guys have done a terrific job.

Carol I got out the material to make a baby quilt, I'd like to make a few just to have on hand any time there is a baby shower. Or one of my grandkids decided to have a baby. Any way the thought is there now I have to find my "getroundtuit".  8)

I guess I will go take a shower and wash my hair, before I do the laundry.

Oldest son & family are in the car all day - driving to NW Montana - it is almost 1,000 miles and they always go non-stop - prayers for travel safety.

Trish:  Prayers for your mom!!!

Janet:  STOP - Take care of Thyself.

Jeannine:  Very nice to see your post.  How are you feeling today?

All I did yesterday was reach for something in a high cabinet on the corner and felt something stretch in one foot - yup, have a little pain where it should not be.  Sometimes... :ticked:

My sleep hasn't been very good for several weeks, another little glitch that happens too often.  Dear Don ordered a noise machine & we had it set on Rain last night - it must have reminded me of growing up in Seattle because I did sleep a bunch longer & also was able to get back to sleep when waking too early.  Sleep, blessed sleep.

Well, I can't exercise this morning - I have to get to some fabric cutting.  Marilyn, I will encourage you to "GetToIt" if you will do the same for me.  Nice that you are visiting Fay.

Pat:  Did you have a nice time taking pictures at the sports event?

Hi everyone.

My doctor appointments yesterday went very well and the little spot on my noise is non-cancerous and didn't need to be removed, although the doctor offered to remove it.  I declined as no sense encountering pain that isn't necessary and it isn't bothering me.  It was a full day and I was tired last evening but didn't have to go out so all was well.

Today I have a meeting to attend this morning and my wife has gone to a special demo and luncheon at the sewing machine store where she bought her sewing machine.  A friend has gone with her.

Not much else new here other than we had a nice little rain earlier this morning while I was at coffee and it is suppose to rain more before the day is over.  The yard is still looking very green and it is so enjoyable.

Carol, I can't even comprehend the idea of riding for 1000 non-stop.  They must have several drivers and a place to sleep.  It sounds like your sound machine is just what you needed.

Marilyn, living to 98 is really quite a feat.  Hope you enjoy your day with Fay.

Jeannine, glad to see your posting.  Guess we just need to take things as they come and not anticipate tomorrow but enjoy today.  I hope the doctor is wrong and that you soon will be feeling better.  I will check out your website.

Janet, take it easy.  You sure don't need to go backward in your recovery.

Karmat, that is a fun age that you have in VBS, although 2 year old kids can be a bit of a challenge, as I am sure you are very aware.  :)

Al, paying off your mortgage is a wonderful feeling.  We were able to do that several years and I sure would not want to have house payments again.  Thanks for the prayer.

Etta Sue, sure doesn't sound very good for your postman.  Hope you had a good time at the reception.

Time to leave.

I think I may have left a somewhat false impression: our mortage isn't paid off yet.  We're waiting for the money to arrive via check, hopefully this week sometime, then we'll take it over to the Credit Union and use it to pay off the mortage.  So it's as good as paid, but it isn't really done yet.  Then we son't owe anything to anybody!  That'll be quite diffewrent.

Boy!  I sure don't know what it is about me posting here!  This time I was in the middle of a reply to Al and the power went off!   :ticked:  (that was at 8:26 'cause the clock on my stove is still flashing! ) D'ya think maybe I'm not s'posed to "say" anything here?

Anyway, Al, I was just commenting on what a great feeling it is to be debt free!  I finally reached that status and now only have the "usual" monthly expenses.

Enjoy!

Yesterday I invited my neighbor to join us as we sang at the nursing home.  She said she really enjoyed it and wants me to invite her again.

The problem phone caller is taking a rest for a few days.  She called Thursday night and said she would be calling again "in a week or so" .... I think I can be rested and prepared for that --  I hope!   :-\

I need to get out and do "something" in the yard today before it gets too hot for me.  I really don't do well in the heat -- I wilt!   :D

Of course, y'all might think we here on the coast are pansies anyway ... our "heat" is in the 70's!  I mentioned that to my daughter who called from Spokane last week.  She said "It's hot here!"  I told her we were hot, too,  it had been in the low 70's for a few days.  She nearly screamed ..... "Mom!  It was 103º here today!"  I guess everything is relative after all.   8)

Joy tells me it's pretty warm in Sacramento these days, too, but they don't mind it because they're used to the very humid heat of Mexico!  See what I mean?

Well, I'm going to post this before it gets zapped again.  Sorry I haven't addressed each of you but I surely have read your messages and prayed for each one as I read.

Our get together for Ute yesterday was a success.  Not as many as I thought would be there but really a nice crowd.  One classmate came from Tulsa, OK, with his wife...the first time being with any of us since graduation 47 years ago!  So happy he could come.  He said he would be back for our 50th Reunion.

Ivalou and I went to Chili's for dinner after I got home from Jayne's.  I love their chips and salsa!!

I don't know where Kitty is.  I haven't heard from her since Wednesday morning.  Their oldest cat wasn't feeling well and Kitty was trying to get a vet appointment and she had a doctor appointment that afternoon.  Then they were to go to Ohio to get their grandson.  This weekend in Lapel is Lapel Village Days...the whole town is a garage sale and today is the parade and such.  Alex loves Village Days.  I called Kitty this morning and left a Voice Mail.

I haven't heard the news today but as of last night, the postman in Greenfield is still missing.   :(

This has been a fun day.  John left early to have breakfast with one of the young men at church.  :)  When he left I had Cimi on one side of me and Dana our doberman got up on the other side of me and I was the sandwich filling.  ::) I went back to sleep and slept well.

When I got up I had a weeks worth of meals to get ready for John, as he finds the prices are too great to buy his meals on the road.

Late this afternoon we went to have a BBQ visit with friends and family.  What a good time that was.  The kids were all well behaved, and the adults were able to visit without having to talk over the kids.  We had a really good birthday celebration.  John's birthday was the 12th and mine is tomorrow.

Our chickens are really growing!  It seems the double their size every week.  It will be good to have them in the freezer over the winter.  John was born and raised on a farm, so he does know what he is doing, even though it is experimental for me.

We are gradually getting ready for the girls to go to camp.  I take our grandson next Sunday and the girls go in August.  What a quiet week that will be!

It looks like the spaniel, Stitches, Cimi's daughter is going to have puppies.  I certainly hope so.  One false pregnancy is more than I can handle.  :clobber: Silly Dana actually has produced milk!   :o We will know for sure in a couple of weeks.

Those of you who are complaining of the dryness........We have too much rain.  It has rained every day for the past two weeks.  We are ready for a few days of NO RAIN!!!   :ticked:

Well that is the update from North Bay.  I am still having server problems, so not sure when I will be able to post again.

I still Pray for the needs here, God bless everyone

Hi everyone.  We had some very nice rain yesterday and last night and more is predicted for today.  Since it has been in the form of showers and not all day it isn't bad at all and we certainly need it.

Judy, Happy Birthday to both you and John.  It sounds like you had a nice time at the Bar-B-Q and that life on the farm is enjoyable for you all.  I never enjoyed living on the farm although know it was a wonderful place to be raised.

Etta Sue, hope you hear from your friend today.  I know that is worrisome.  Perhaps she decided to spend a few extra days in Ohio.  Glad you all had a nice time at your get-together.  People change a bit in 47 years, right?

Jane, don't let a little thing like a power outage discourage you from posting please.  Has Joy and her husband fully moved back to California from Mexico?  I don't believe you have spoken of them for awhile.

Al, I agree that just waiting for the check is about the same as having it paid off.  That is a nice feeling to have things paid off.  I was in that place for quite awhile until I bought a new car but I have such a good interest rate on it, like 1%, that I can't justify paying it off early.  The only other debts, other than normal living expenses which I pay monthly, are things I buy on 12 months same as cash and figure why strain the budget in paying them off early.  Will you be having a mortgage burning?  Believe me I kept my mortgage marked "Paid" as didn't want to lose that.  I guess you could make a copy and have a symbolic burning.  :)

My wife is working in the nursery this morning at church so won't be attending the morning service.  She does this every three months or so and works with the 2,3, and 4 year olds.  She enjoys it but is always worn out when the hour or so is over.  Our youth minister is preaching today as our senior pastor is on a much earned two-week vacation and think he is probably at the beach by this time.  He was off last week but his wife told me he had a long "honey-do" list to get done over the first week of his vacation, which is now over.  We aren't having Bible study with the pastor this week and the group is going to a museum on Wednesday to see an exhibit of ancient Bibical artifacts at the Emory Museum.  We are not going as I am not up to doing all the walking that would be involved and not ready to ask my wife or someone else to push me around in a wheelchair.  I know they will have a good time.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.  My plans for today include attending church, eating out, coming home and resting and then taking it quiet the rest of the day.  It has been a busy week, for which I am thankful, but am ready for a change of pace.

Good morning!  So good to read all your reposts and know what's happening in your lives.

Al, congrats on becoming debt-free!  It's a wonderful way to live.

Etta Sue, I have been expecting to see/hear sometihing about the missing mailman, but haven't caught anything yet on our news.  I do hope he is found safe and well.

Pat and I had a nice evening last evening.  We went to the kick-off of our county fair.  The Fair Board provided hamburgers and hot dogs, and we had a concert by the Benders, from Wichita, Ks.  They play all 50s and 60s music, and we really enjoyed it.

Today is a happy day!  Our grandson Curtis got home last night from Officers' Training in Alabama, and yesterday was Abby's 10th birthday, so we are going to their church today, eating lunch with them, then celebrating Abby's birthday.  (She had a sleep-over party on Friday night with her friends.)  And we get to see Mark, too!  YIPPEE!!

Talk to you later.  Better stop now.

Larry - I don't think we'll probably have a "mortage burning," but we'll just give God thanks that we're done with it.  I started out thinking we were simply going to try to refinance it at a lower rate, thus saving dollars monthly, but then it became evident that we could empty out some of our savings and simply pay it off, thus borrowing from ourselves instead of paying interest to someone else.  Then we'll try to recoup our savings, 'cause it's all the margin we have financially.  Actually, it's really good to realize that none of it is ours anyway - every dime of it belongs to the Lord.  So what we're really trying to do is to manage it in the best way possible for His glory.

Well, Larry, that is a question we all keep trying to answer!   :-\  Joy and John have tickets to return to Mexico on August 9.  They are still deciding whether to get their stuff out of storage and drive (2 vehicles) back to California or just drive one vehicle and some of their stuff; to try to sell their house in California or live in it themselves; or rent the small house in the back to a friend (by the week) so she can keep an eye on the place while she looks for another house to buy .......   :-\     It is something they discuss on a daily (make that hourly) basis  and come up with different scenarios each time.  I guess we'll find out when the time comes.    ;D

Bryan is very close to being in the Army again.  I think Joy said the middle of this week is when he goes to MEPS (whatever that is) to choose his job and be assigned.  It has been a long drawn out process for him because of his history.  He has had to convince them that he is really sincere and has changed.  He wants to "finish right" as he says.

Good Morning I have had two calls for prayer for our Worship Pastor from his wife. He is in severe pain in the area of one of his kidneys, unable to lay down and can't breathe. Please pray for Dennis, he is also our Adult Sunday School teacher. I will ask one of the other brothers to teach the class this morning.

Overcast here this morning, it feels damp outside. My curls have already disappeared. I set my hair and because of the weight , being so long, that the curls don't last long.

gotta go now.

I must say that I was so happy and blessed to read your poem, Misty!  Please continue to share.  I may print that out (with your permission) and put it inside my Bible.

Hi Pat, Love the "morning" frog. Know how he feels. You have a standing permission for all my works. If you go to my "Island Place" website you will find all my ebooks are provided free of charge and may be used to download, print, copy, email, share, etc. for personal and church use. About the only thing you can't do is buy or sell them or otherwise charge for them.

The postman has been found alive.  But to me, it is still a mystery.  You may read about it here (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070714/LOCAL/707140518/1141/LOCAL0703).
Still sad about it!  Still unbelievable.  My husband had a gun permit and carried a gun all the time so someone carrying a gun doesn't make them a threat!

Remember me saying the mother of a member of our church was missing.  About six weeks ago?  She still hasn't been found.   :(

Church was great today.  I missed last week so this week was filling up again!!  Great to see my friends at church.  And really great to see my two favorite pastors in the pulpit!

It is really hot in Indiana.  I had the A/C on in the car on high all the way home and still was hot.  So now I think I will catch up online and get my book to read ..... and probably ZZZZzzzzz!   ;)

Pat, Where is Geordie when we need him?????

What an exciting afternoon this was!  On the way home from Church we encountered a traffic jam on our country road.  The cause of the problem was three sheep that had escaped the field they were kepy in.  The girls jumped out and started running!  BAD move,  I didn't know that you never chase sheep!  They just run faster!  We managed to get them headed up the road to our house and that got them off the main road.  We put Cimi on the leash and her barking did do some to keep them back in the field.  I managed to get the neighbour to come over with his trailer, as we tried to load them they bolted.  Oh my, back down on the main road headed the wrong way with the girls chasing.  Two turned around and Elizabeth after them.  I followed her stopping traffic and wondered how Kassie was doing.  The sheep went into the farm next to us and the farmers son got them into his barn.  I headed back to find Kassie.  John joined the chase on the lawn tractor and back into the neighbours gravel pit we went.  Kassie had hearded the lone sheep and was heading back to the road.  It made a detour but was easily turned around.  Back down Alsace we went.  The people coming up behind me must have thought I was drunk the way I was driving.....all over the road.  The last sheep went down into the ditch and into the farmers field.

Kassie was on the verge of heat exhaustion, her face was scarlet, and her head was pounding. She has had a cool shower and is drinking cold, iced tea.

Some may wonder why we bothered.  If one was hit there would have been unnecessary damage to the vehicle, and the unnecassary death of a really dumb animal would have been hard for the girls to take.

Many years ago the owner of a local farm died, and his ex-wife has taken over.  Would be nice if she knew what she was doing, this is the fourth time they have been loose.

Well I have to go.  The girls are ready for a swim and after all their running they are really needing it.

Bye for now
JudyB
