Earlier I had called a friend looking for a Dog treat recipe no luck so I will have to search some of my cook books as I had seen one there several yrs. ago.  While on the phone a knock came to  the door and it was another friend looking for a walking companion the phone call ended and walking I did on such a beautiful day.

Now that I am back home I need to do a web search before heading out the door for work.

Before departing from here there was radio phone in chat and sad to say all but one of the callers were saying how terrible the care our elder folk are getting in most of the nursing homes  I will be praying that my family will be able to watch out for my care when the time arrives.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Good morning.  I survived the night.  No one broke in.  No one knocked on my door.  No one scared me.

While we are asking others to go and welcome newcomers with posts...why aren't more people posting comments on the photos in the Gallery?   :idiot: I know I visit the gallery every day...and there are certainly wonderful pictures there.  I try to post a comment for every picture.  Then the next day I notice there is only one comment...mine that I posted the day before!

So I am challenging you guys.  Please post a comment to these pictures.  I know how bad I feel when I post a picture and no comments are made.  Let's make these newcomers feel welcome by us acknowledging their pictures with a comment!!

<: )) ))><<~~>  <: )) ))><<~~<  <: )) ))><<~~<

Etta Sue

Whew!  I couldn't post.  Tried several times.  I kept getting a message telling me that

'The following error or errors occurred while posting this message:
The message body was left empty.'

I figured out why.  I left out a ']' in trying to post my graphic at the top of my post.  And it would post any of my post!!!

writegirl1949

Afternoon all.  I've so enjoyed reading the posts from the last week.

COLIN ... what a pleasure to meet someone living in Ireland.  Thank you for posting that poem, it was beautiful.  Yes, I have a love affair with the Emerald Isle.  There's something about Ireland that captured my heart.  I long to return and hope to in the next year or two.

I'm Scotch Irish so somewhere between Ireland and Scotland, my ancestors, the Campbells, lived.  I hope to start some research.  My family has gone as far as they can on this side of the Atlantic and met a dead end.  Most of my mother's siblings are gone so it will be harder.

The Grand Canyon ... I love it there.  And Etta Sue, you've done something I've longed to do ... gone down into the canyon, although I'm not sure I'd do it on the back of a mule.  I did a feature story on a cowboy friend who, at one time, led those mule rides and he told me some hillarious and rather scary stories.

I do have a question?  Do I post any picture I want to upload in my album first or can I go to the other forum and upload under the various categories?  Or, is the 4 photos per day for any and all photos posted anywhere on the site.

And Pat, I did put a few Green photos in my album.

Some of you may have responded to my prayer request for my daughter.  Thank you.  We are waiting for a call from the doctor ... OR NOT.  They will call today if it is extremely serious, otherwise, she'll get the test results in a few days.  This is my adult daughter (mother of the two greatest grandkids in the world ::), lol.  I'm blessed that we live in the same city.  I do appreciate the prayers.  I know those prayers helped her move from being an emotional mess to being peaceful.  God is so faithful even when we aren't.

I can't begin to tell you all how welcome I feel here.  I haven't found too many forums that make me feel this way.  In fact, the only other one is the Christian Writers forum.  If any of you are writers, you might want to check it out www.christianwriters.com.

And Keith, what a pleasure to see more of your words and photos.

Blessings, Francine

Hi Francine.  Yes I have been praying for your situation.

ES isn't it amazing what one little squiggle or bracket does when trying to post?  I would love to go to the Grand Canyon.  I hace seen the extreme west end of it, but that was in a truck flying down the highway.  Oh and AMEN to what you said about commenting on the pictures.  I have been off the puter for about 2 months now and when I was on I tried to stay on top of what was posted.  If everyone who looks would comment it would really be good.

This is a beautiful day.  No heat needed in the house.  Mom has spent the better part of the afternoon outside.

Well I must go we have some work to finish.
Love to all and I am praying for the needs here.

Pat

Thanks Etta Sue for the nudge for all of us to go to the GALLERY (by clicking on the button above that says "Gallery") and leaving some comments under the photos in there.

And Judy is moderator for our Photos area in the Forums and there are lots of photos there too that need comments.  We all love comments under our photos.

I never noticed before that Judy is a Global Moderator so it is the photo forums.  8) When did that happen?

Long day today, I am emotionally spent. My patient had two choking episodes. The Dr. says he will just get more and more tired and pass in his sleep. He was very tired today and slept most of the day. He choked while drinking water after his meal. His breathing looked pretty shallow and I kept watching his chest while he slept.

I've soaked my feet, I have a foot Dr. appt in the morning before work to have my toenails cut and the arch of my left foot checked  to see why it is hurting. Feels like I stepped on a rock but I didn't and it has been too long anyway.

Good night.

Well, it's been a long time since I've been here. I've read all of this week's messages, and will return to go over more of the time I've missed, if possible, tomorrow night.

The ladies retreat I attended in Indiana when I was with my friend was just what I needed.

Etta Sue, sorry we didn't get to see you this time around. But, there will be other times - and maybe more time to spend while there.  :)

I hope to be back in a shoe instead of the boot on the left foot pretty soon. The Achilles tendon seems to be "happier" these days.

Y'all have a good evening.

Good morning!  Long day so far.  I set my alarm for 6:15am...very early for me.  I left the house by 7:15am to have breakfast with Judy, my high school classmate.  She works in the office at WalMart nights and got off work at 7am.  We had breakfast at Perkin's and a chat.  I could tell she was very sleepy.  Her son, from Chicago, came to see her yesterday and she only had 3 hours sleep yesterday.  So as soon as coffee was drank, we both drove home.

If our temp gets to 87° today we tie the record high for October 5th.  And if it gets to 88° tomorrow, we will tie the record high for October 6th.  And Sunday is to be in the 90's!!  And they say that next weekend will be nothing like this weekend so enjoy the warmth while you can!

Right now it is cloudy and while I was eating breakfast, it sprinkled a tiny bit on the car...glad I didn't have the sun roof open all the way.  But it is already hot out there.  So today I am staying inside in the a/c!!

JudyB

Woohoo Etta sue I love those temperatures.  That is glorious.  I just don't like the forcast for next weekend.  We gave a glorious day here as well.

I was up early and got going with my duties.

You are right.  But if you look at the number of views people are looking at the photos, just not commenting.  It takes just a minute to post a commebt.

This is the Day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it.

I have just finished readinh a trillohy by Ted Dekker.  Black, Red. and White.  If you are readers you will enjoy these.  They are analogies, and they have impacted me in a way few other books have.  Have you ever thought of our relationship with our Lord as "The Great Romance"  Think about it, we are Hid bride and he is romancing us!  Desiring our love and complete devotion.

Well the girls need their Schooling done so I am off.  This is the great thing about homeschooling.  I can be relaxed about start and finish times!

God bless all of you, JudyB

We too are having wonderful weather for this time of year.  October can be a tricky month in southeastern Arizona.  Sometimes we can have  highs in the 90s or it can be cooler in the high 70s.  This weekend is our annual Art in the Park with some wonderful crafts men and women and, in years past the heat would just be so intense.  Today's weather is low 80s and very windy.  A truly blustery day and I'm loving it.

Keith, thanks for the correction.  So the term is Scot-Irish???  ::)

I was sharing photos with a friend last night (actually had printed some rather than them lurking on my computer and I realized that I need to print more and then document exactly what or where.  Amazing how quickly I can forget.

Hope everyone has an awesome day in the Lord.

It is 38° here right now and will go up to 59° later today. It is COLD

I still have to work this afternoon at the job where I am covering someone on vacation.  This is the last day. I do go to he gallery but don't always leave a comment and I do comment on the photos here in the photo forums. I also post in recipes, welcomes, and prayers. I agree it would be very nice if others would comment on the photos and other forums here and in the gallery. I will try to do better.

I have so many things going on in my life and on the computer that it is hard to get to everything all the time. I am working at my job, maintaining 2 websites, a blog, participating in a Stationery group in addition to having a life too. Visiting others, doing things at the church (outside of Sunday), walking and exercising everyday, making  phone calls, praying for others, studying my Bible, and Im'ing with Savannah. So please "Excuse Me" if I don't post every time I look at something or read in a forum. I am a busy person.

Gotta go Now

Francine, Pat and I are Scot/Welsh/British..  Pat correct me if I am wrong there.  Pat and I have spent wonderful time in the Brittish Isles, with our Mum and Dad.  Have you ever been "back'ome"

I understand the weather changes in Arizona.  A couple of years back on the 22 of December we were in Phoenix and the temp was 108*.  A few hours later in Flagstaff there was at least a foot of snow on the ground.  What a challenge for drivers.  Aparently there is a meteor crator near Flagstaff.  Have you ever seen it?  Some day I will go back and see what it is like.

Marilyn because of dial up I couldn't check out the horse.  My girls have a few horses in the area that they admire and will often stop to stroke their noses.   One is in a local park, we know the owners, we often take a carrot or apple for him.  You know Marilyn it is really something the temperature difference between you and I.  We are both sitting on the 46 parallel, and we are at 70*F!  My what a difference.  (By the way that was part of the geography course we are doing!)

Was listening to Focus on the Family this a.m.  He had a man speaking about being a dream maker.  If you have the opportunity to go to the web site and listen to him it would be well worth it.  That is if Focus offers this service.

The girls are studying the life of Elijah.  This portion of the Bible is one of my favourites.  It is so marvelous how God works through this prophet.

Got to run, time is running on.
Love to all

Francine: The term is Scots or Scots-Irish.
One interpretation of my surname WALLIS is "the English spelling of the Scottish name for a Welshman" !    I can only search back as far as my Grandfather but from what I can make out he came from central England (Birmingham) so any Scottish or Welsh roots must be way back !  We don't seem quite so determined to seek out our roots as our American friends - But then we're British already and don't need to !

Marilyn, not only a wonderful horse but a fantastic dressage performance by Andreas as well!  They are a wonderful pair.  And to think he's communicating with his horse with the tiniest of hand and foot signals unnoticed by anyone else.

Wonderful!  Thanks for sharing that.

Yes, Judy, leave out the British in that term as all are British!  Just say Scots/Welsh/English and my kids can say Scots/Irish/Welsh/English!  ;)

I have a close friend going through a crisis at this time in his life and last night I searched for this song.  I could only find the music at YouTube so those of you who can view YouTube, please click.

I found it a blessing and have sent him the link.

What a wonderful singer George Beverly Shea has been throughout the many years.

Please enjoy.  I've played it over and over so many times since last night and I've written out the words as well that maybe I'm wearing it out!

He's the Christ of Every Crisis
Lee Fisher

He's the Christ of every crisis
He is just the same today
He will solve your every problem
If you only let him have his way

Once I walked the crowded highway
With the restless careless throng
Then my heart was sad and weary
Of the journey rough and long
On that road I met a stranger
And He took me by the hand
Then I knew it was the Saviour
He has been my dearest friend.

He's the Christ of every crisis
He is just the same today
He can solve your every problem
If you only let him have His way

Lots of reading was needed to catch up on everyone.....Like Marilyn, I have lots to do and not always able to post. Not certain if anyone even notices, but here I am again :)

We are having a day without rain, lots expected for the next few days.  Also quite cool now....still almost frost at night...so a few lovely roses were alive until my daughter started fall trim.  She is an expert at gardens and I have never seen more beautiful flowers, even in our famous Butchard Gardens.  Cooking dinner tonight so she can have a rest, did so last night as well.  Wonderful how much can be accomplished when everyone works together.

Must hold that thought as they are going to be completely updating their home, even tho' only 14 yrs. old.  Hardwood is going on all the upstairs floors, except bathroom and part of the kitchen. It is a expensive property so must be kept in top shape.  Updating bathrooms, lights, painting the whole inside... and outside to be done in the Spring.  Changing things around and the office is going upstairs, family room downstairs, off my suite.  Wish I could head for the hills, not possible!  Will be totally beautiful when done, hope we live thro' the mess and work to come. It will be hard on my daughter, but they will get in help with most everything.... :-\

I have started back carpet bowling a couple of times a week.  Not feeling great, but need to get out and mingle again.  Will have to work with what is still working!!  I am going to be able to get to an Alliance church for communion and possibly will go more often if I like the services.  This is with the couple who recently lost their daughter and another older lady has offered a ride.  I am not much for taking rides, but will find a way to repay.

Thanks for the email Marilyn.  I surely do love that horse!  Have always loved horse shows and especially equestrian events involving jumping.  I recently switched my computer from light speed to high speed and so can view YouTube much better.  Also spend a couple of days cleaning out junk from my register that sneaky companies hide and don't delete the usual way on computers.  Don't care for Register Cleaners, so do it the old fashioned hard way.  What a pain!!

Feel happier about my granddaughter as she plans to return to studying, not Visual Art, rather graphics and annimation.  Her talent is much to good to be wasted in other fields, so it is simply a question of the right school.  Having dabbled in the Art field, I know how petty and malicious many artists and teachers can be, so not totally suprised by the prof. at the other place.  Some have much larger egos than talent....

Time to go and tackle some ironing.  The kids are going to get me one of those steam things that are used in stores.  Can't stand for more than an hr. at a time now without my hip causing trouble, so this will be a real blessing.  They are looking into it, so will be a bit before Gramie gets a break!

Love reading all the posts and hope your all have a wonderful weekend.  We are having Thanksgiving dinner on Monday.  Yumm!

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz
CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Pat

It's so good to hear from you, Liz.  Nice that you're back carpet bowling.  Yes, we really do need to get exercising.  I must make more time for it.

Good to know about your granddaughter too.  Yes, she's a wonderful artist.  We've seen evidence of that on here in the past.

I have marking of work tonight, I want it done before John gets home.  They are doing well.
