You dwell right in the MIDST of glory!

    • Prayer and Praise     Thanks for visiting this area of our site to share prayer requests and items for praise!

    Morning Devotional...

Psalm 19:14.  "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer."

This psalm tells us about a glorious God Who is revealed in and through  His Creation.  It goes on to remind us of how true and wonderful the words of such a God must be.  Then, finally, it moves us to the only right response we could have to such a God - a response of prayer for personal holiness.

The psalm states what should be obvious: the God Who is revealed by nature is absolutely magnificent.  In fact, He's such an entirely wonderful God that we should be moved by the glory around us to cry from the heart to be made more pleasing in His sight.

How about you?  Does the wonderful Creation around you awaken you to it's Creator?  Does it move you to His Word?  And does that in turn result in a cry from your heart to be more pleasing to Him?  Oh pray for opened eyes to see the great wonders all around you, and pray for a responsive heart!

All People That on Earth Do Dwell
    (Click to hear music)

"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs." Psalm 100:1-2

Words: From Fourscore and Seven Psalms of David (Geneva, Switzerland: 1561); attributed to William Kethe.

Music: "Old 100th," attributed to Louis Bourgeois, in Four Score and Seven Psalms of David (Geneva, Switzerland: 1551)

All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.
    Him serve with mirth, His praise forth tell;
Come ye before Him and rejoice.

    The Lord, ye know, is God indeed;
    Without our aid He did us make;
We are His folk, He doth us feed,
And for His sheep He doth us take.

    O enter then His gates with praise;
    Approach with joy His courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless His Name always,
For it is seemly so to do.

    For why? the Lord our God is good;
    His mercy is forever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.

To Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
The God Whom heaven and earth adore,
From men and from the angel host
    Be praise and glory evermore.

Nice to see you in here so early, Colin, though I guess it isn't early to you there.  Of what does a good Irish breakfast consist?

Still morning here on Labor Day in the U S of A.  Holiday!  But when you are retired, every day is a Holiday!!

Not anything planned for today.  I think Kaye Don and Barb are still in Michigan visiting one of their daughter's and her family.  Ivalou is going to her son's this evening for a pitch-in/cookout.  ( I did hear on the radio that 'pitch-in' is a Hoosier thing!  Most everywhere else say 'pot luck'!) Tony and Charlene are in Michigan visiting with one of the twins and her husband.  The other twin and grandson went with them.  Tony has called me twice since Saturday evening.  So I am thinking a good book will fit the bill for me this afternoon and perhaps evening...depending on how good the book is.

Now, Janet, you hit the nail on the head.  Ivalou and I usually mow our grass the same day.  I may start mowing and then I see her garage door open and she starts mowing.  Or I hear her mowing and I go out and start mowing.  And it is true  :D When we get close together, we do wave to each other...but not each time...just once.  It really looks nice when all our yards are mowed the same day.  I noticed this morning that Kaye Don's yard looks mighty tacky!  Hope he gets home early enough to mow his.   :-\  Must keep up with the Jones'!!

    :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)

    Janet

Happy Labor day to you all!  I don't plan to do any labor today, though.  ;)  I helped Abby with her "paper person" they are to do with their families yesterday.  They each got a sheet of heavy paper with a figure drawn on it, and they, with their families, were to put on the features, dress them, etc.  They will put them up for their open house at school next week.  She had really good ideas, and we discovered a new use for scrapbooking materials.  It turned out really cute, too.

I think I over-used my poor arm again.  :(  It hurt really badly last night, kept me awake until after 2 AM, and is still touchy and painful today.  Another reason I don't plan to do much.  I thought it would be all back to normal by now.  Guess I was way too optimistic.  :-\

Abby wants to go swimming this afternoon, then I will be taking her home.  It's been so nice having her here for a few days.

Our dog Cookie had one puppy yesterday, one last night, and one so far this morning, but it is dead.  She looked like she could have eight!

I guess it is time to get dressed.  I've really been lethargic this morning.  See you later!

Hi everyone.  I have had a busy morning.  I went to coffee a the cafe and unfortunately there just wasn't much business at the cafe this morning.  Sure they won't open on a holiday again.  Then I went to Wal-Mart and did some shopping, including getting anew watch.  It was really expensive, all of $5.87 plus tax and it is nice looking.  My current watch has become unreliable and it costs almost as much for a new battery as an entire new watch and the band needed to be replaced as well.  Fortunately I was able to get an electric cart to get around Wal-Mart as I just don't have the energy to walk that store anymore.

Our housekeeper has been ill for several weeks and so Pat has been doing the housekeeping, which just about does her in.  I tried to help her by dusting some this morning but that was almost too much for me.  If our housekeeper doesn't come back very soon we are going to have to find someone else.

This evening we are meeting two other couples for dinner at O'Charley's and then going to one of their homes and expect we will play a domino game so all six can play.  I am sure it won't be a late evening but should be very enjoyable.

Al, thanks for the fine devotional today.

Janet, it sound like you had a great day yesterday but that you certainly overdid.  Please take care of yourself and it is ok to be lethargic and rest.

Etta Sue, enjoy your quiet day reading your book.

Colin, I can't imagine have rain everyday for months on end.  I guess that is why things stay nice and green over  your way.  Hope you had an enjoyable breakfast.  To me a garden is quite different from a yard and where the cars are parked is called the driveway.  Interesting how we use the same terms to mean different things in different countries.

Liz, certainly understand your saddness for Amanda.  Hopefully she will decide to continue her education.  I can't imagine what type of professor she would have had that discouraged her so.

Hi Jeannine  and all who stop by today.

    Marilyn

Well Colin I guess to you I have gopher holes in my garden. although it certainly is not much of a garden by USA standards.

I have taken to dogs for their walks this morning and washed the cover and blanket off their dog bed, I also washed my dress pants all 5 pr of them.

In just a little while I am going to lunch at the Chalet here in Mcville with a friend, (Ha! at first I typed fiend, had to correct that.)

Larry are you sure that watch wait too expensive? I don't want you to break your bank account just kidding)

Janet I think you need to stop doing so much and just let that arm heal. Forget about the cleaning etc. Does driving effect your arm too?

From the sounds of the posts, mine is not the only body that is showing signs of wear!  It is only a matter of time until I will have to have help with my housework.  Wendy has finally found someone to come and help her every other week and is happy after a couple of bad tries with others.  This one is a nice Christian lady who is only doing it for exercise and loves nice things.  So they are on the same track.

Is anyone familiar with the paintings and novels of Thomas Kinkade.  He is one of the wonderful Christian authors and artists from the States.  Writes the really nice Cape Light Novels....they sort of continue from book to book. You can see his art at:  www.thomaskinkade.com if interested.  I think most of you would like his books, they have a Christian theme and really pleasant.

Good luck with the gophers, Marilyn. ::)

    Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Hi...was in here early for me and now it is late! A good breakfast would be an Ulster fry but I settled for scrambled egg and grilled bacon cooked by myself. Marilyn I am sorry about the gopher holes...glad we dont have any here or moles either. Yes and it did rain here today again but we had a lovely evening with sunshine. Guess I will hit the hay now so goodnight to you all. God bless

I am out of a job again. The woman's daughter called today to tell me that they had not been reimbursed for my wages and without that they couldn't afford to keep me on.  I am not worried about it, God is in control and I will soon have another job. Please keep me in prayer.

    Good night, Colin.  Sweet dreams!

Marilyn, maybe you need a really BIG cat!  ;)

Liz, I know how sad and disappointed you must be.  I do pray Amanda will accept the Lord, seek His direction for her life, and maybe find another place to study art.  She is certainly a talented girl.

Thomas Kincaid's work is EVERYWHERE!! On every imaginable surface....I think it is beautiful, but have gotten a little tired of it, as each piece is so much like all the others.  I did see a really different one a while back, though.  It was of Jewish men and boys at the Wailing Wall.  Stark, dark, and SO different from all his cottages with every window lighted up.  I have read one or two of his novels, too, and enjoyed them.

Larry, I took your suggestion and signed up for the housekeeper to come once every two weeks.  It's only for two hours, but should help a lot with the vacuuming, etc, anyway.  Hope your lady gets well and comes back soon.  Good help is so hard to find!

We took Abby to meet her Mom a while ago.  On Thursday I will go stay with her for two days while her parents are away at a business function.  We both enjoy that.

My hand and wrist are still very painful and swollen.  I hope therapy tomorrow helps; if not, I will call my doctor and ask her advice.

Cookie will not win Mother of the Year.  She has only one puppy left, think she stepped on the others, and she's so heavy on her tiny feet.  Poor puppies.  I hope she manages to keep the one alive.

    See you tomorrow.

Sorry about your job, Marilyn.  But it must mean God has something better out there for you.

I must have really needed rest today - I won't even say how late it was when I finally got up. Oh, well, it certainly was nice not to need to go anywhere or do anything.

So, I ended up doing a bit of cleaning, a bit of cooking, and a lotta resting. :)

Marilyn, so sorry about your job. We'll need to renew our prayers for you.

Larry, were it not for the carts, I couldn't shop any more. That's sometimes a rest for a weary mind, to just drive ever so slowly through the market, browsing at what's available and whether the budget would okay an impulse purchase. In most instances of course, the budget says "NO" quite loudly.

Al, thank you for that devotional. My hubby's most favorite verse - the one that he lived his life by - was the very one you covered in the devotional. You brought back some tender memories.

Janet, please take care of your arm.

    Y'all have a good evening.

Hi everyone.  I have a few minutes before needing to leave this morning so will see if I can get a post written.  We had a very nice evening last night.  We had a good meal and we were able to use a gift card I had to pay for most of it (which was nice).  Then we went to these friend's home and played a domino game called "Mexican Train".  Another couple joined us for the game but had had to go to a death family visitation and didn't make it to eat with us.  The evening was capped off by banana splits (just what we all needed after 9 pm) and they were good.

Not much on the schedule today other than a meeting this morning.  It is suppose to be in the 90s again today after several cooler days.

Colin, hope the fog lifts so we can see you back here.  :)

Jeannine, I continue to pray for you and Michael.

Jane, you sure were up posting late.  You must be a night person rather than a morning person like I am.

Ruth Ann, glad you were able to have a restful day.

Janet, sorry to read that you have lost a couple of the puppies and hope the one survives.  Maybe your couple of days with Abby will give you time to just rest your arm.  I think you will enjoy having the housekeeper.  I remember when we first went to stay with my folks Mother had a lady come to learn but was very concerned that she not be there for longer than an hour.  My mother usually sat in her chair most of the time but I missed her and went to the kitchen and found her sweeping the floor.  I said  "Mother, why are you sweeping" and she said she was concerned that she might have to pay for a second hour of cleaning.  It was costing a whole $6 per hour and my folks could will afford the cost for her to be there the entire day if necessary.  Needless to say the lady soon started cleaning the entire house and was there for more than one hour at a time.  I still chuckle over this.

Marilyn, sorry about your job but you certainly have the right attitude and God has something else in mind for you.

Liz, we are very familiar with Thomas Kincade.  I like  his work and there was a gallery selling his work at our local shopping center.  Don't know if it is still open as don't go to the shopping center anymore.  Like Janet, his work does begin to wear on you in its sameness but still beautiful.

Time to go to coffee.  Hope everyone has a great day.

    Samantha

My sister (the one who died last year) loved Thomas Kincade stuff.  Everytime I see something of his I can't help but to think of her.

I wanted to share the following and forgot to put it in my message above.

    THE U IN JESUS

Before  U were thought of or time had begun,
God stuck U in  the name of His Son.

And  each time U pray, you'll see it's true,
You can't  spell out JesUs and not include U.

You're  a pretty big part of His wonderful name,
For U, He  was born; that's why He came.

And  His great love for U is the reason He died.
It even  takes U to spell crUcified.

Isn't  it thrilling and splendidly grand
He rose from the  dead, with U in His plan?

The  stones split away, the gold trUmpet blew,
and this  word resUrrection is spelled with a U.

When  JesUs left earth at His upward ascension,
He felt  there was one thing He just had to mention

"Go  into the world and tell them it's true
That I love  them all - Just like I love U."

So  many great people are spelled with a U,
Don't they  have a right to know JesUs too?

It all  depends now on what U will do,
    He'd like them to  know,
But it all starts with U.

    Marilyn

Good Morning, When I picked Willa up this morning for Curves she brought me a big brown bag of different kinds of squash and a some purple snap beans. So now I am waiting for the water to come to a boil to blanche the beans so i can freeze them. I will do the squash later when I figure out what I am going to do with it. Later I am going to Costco and Petco, put gas in my car and stop at the Chiropractor's if he is open. I also need to make a couple of phone calls.

I have always loved the Thomas Kincade paintings and cards.  Never could afford to buy them though.

    Hi Samantha How is Terry?

As I looked to the northeast this morning, the sky was clear as glass.  So I expect Colin to be in here soon!  No mist his way!

Well, I did a stupid thing!  I called Ivalou to see if she would like to go with me for my doctor appointment this morning at 10am to see if any signs of new growth is on my larnyx.  We got to the doctor's office and I signed in.  The receptionist asked me my name.  Then said, 'Your appointment isn't until 2:15 this afternoon.  The doctor is in surgery this morning and not here in the office.  Can you come back this afternoon?'  So Ivalou and I ate breakfast at Bob Evans and then came home.  Now I have to go back this afternoon.  And sure enough I have 2:15pm on my calender right in front of me AND in my electronic date keeper!!  Dumb!   :idiot:  :clobber:  :uglystupid: At least I wasn't late!! ::)

Larry~By evidence of all the typos I must have been typing in my sleep!   :)

Etta Sue~You weren't late this morning but just make sure you're not late this afternoon!   ::)

I finally called, this morning,  for an appointment with my doctor --- not until the 19th!  :o  Guess it's a good thing it isn't an emergency.

I, too, am praying for all the needs represented here ... God knows the PERFECT solution for each one of us.  I'm sure glad of that, because I sure don't!   :-\  I just have to pray and leave it in His hands....and trust Him.

Colin:  Don't fade away - and quit standing in the corner.  Walk right in here and tell us what is happening your way.   :D

Larry:  I just could not eat a banana split anymore, things have changed so I can't eat the dairy products.  Maybe you need to find another house cleaner in the meantime before your regular one can make it back.

Marilyn:  You are so right - you will meet someone new for caregiving and I hope soon.  I know someone who steams the squash and freezes portions.  I like squash.  My children did as well - until they rode the school bus and heard all the things others didn't like. ^-^

Have a mini-meeting at my house.  This is a gal from a university group (and Betty is American Baptist) but we belong to a this secular group & I am tapped to rewrite the bylaws.  Betty will help as she has info stored on her computer & I will be so happy to get rid of this job once and for all.

The hurricane hitting Nicaragua - our church had a group go and work there this early summer and I refused to go because of the heat and humidity problem, not to even mention that everyone was really really sick when they got on the plane to come home last year.  Now, I feel so sorry for everyone.  It has to be just a horrible experience when you are so poor and lack the basic things, then of all things, a hurricane comes right towards you.  Praying for the souls.

    STARS AND STRIPES

I will go beyond the stars because of His stripes
Far beyond the distance that the eagle can fly on high
For Heaven it is waiting; the place of eternal glory
Washed in the blood of the Lamb who for me did die

He came beyond the stars to take all my stripes
There is healing in each one that tore His flesh away
He was wounded for my transgressions and died an awful death
Upon a cruel cross; and for my sins He did pay

He arose above the stars; back scarred with the stripes
Nail prints in hands and feet; and wound that ran down His side
Triumphant over death and grave; victorious in His rising
And in the covering of His blood my sins He will hide

Some day I will see the face of the One who bore the thorns
Grasp the hands of Jesus and feel the nail print scars
Bow to thank the King who reigns in all His glory
For His healing stripes that brought me home beyond the stars

Actually we had heavy drizzle all day which is as bad as an Irish mist! I wrote the above poem for all my American friends who helped me set up my poetrypoem site and extend it to all here who come from the great U.S.A. I realise there are people here from Canada..Australia etc. and I also consider you friends. Sorry Jane if I seemed abrubt. With the best will in the world...rain day in day out would get most people depressed and a little bad tempered! Our summer has slipped away or washed away and now we have just more miserable days of winter to look forward to.  :'(
I know Jeannine wont mind me telling you we have finished our dvd of gospel poems and scenery and it looks very well. Jeannine can play it on her dvd player but others in America find it wont play on their machines. We are a little perplexed by this. Good morning.

My appointment went fine.  I was there on time and like always, waited for the doctor.  He sprays something in your nostrils to numb your throat and passageway to the throat.  This time he sprayed two different things.  Then we went into another room and he left me.  I started getting numb and it felt like my throat was closing up.  I coughed and coughed.  I got scared.  Then I thought...why am I getting scared.  He wouldn't do anything to prevent me from breathing.  So then I relaxed and was fine.  The procedure is called flexible laryngoscopy.  I asked the nurse.  ;)  The doctor said everything looked fine and asked me my age.  I said almost 65.  He said really?  Well, your voice box looks extremely good for your age.  I told him I didn't have anyone to scream or yell too!  He laughed!  So I go back in 6 weeks for another flexible laryngoscopy!!

Today Kitty is taking, well, I am driving, me to Eagle's Nest Restaurant in downtown Indy.  It is a revolving restaurant atop the Hyatt Regency.  Never been to either so this will be an experience for me.  This will be my present from her for my 65th birthday!  But they are having an all city celebration for the first Colts game downtown tomorrow and I heard that the circle is closed today for a Kelly Clarkson concert tomorrow.  And that was how I was going downtown.  I have everything on my GPS.  We will get there...just not sure how!  I would rather drive anywhere in the U S than downtown Indy!!!!!!!!!!

There are two place3s that I would rather avoid driving. 1 is anywhere in the Los Angeles and surrounding area. The other is in the San Francisco and Oakland area if I have to get off the freeway. Even the freeways are bad.

Hooray I get to go to Tai Chi this morning. I have sure missed going and missed my friends there. I am also going to do my recycling today.

I am going to do some computer work for a friend in setting up her email  into groups so all she has to do is type in one name and it goes to all in that group of people.

Glad to hear that all is well in your larynx Etta Sue.
