:) Quote of the Week
I follow Christ:
Jesus is my God -
Jesus is my Spouse -
Jesus is my Life -
Jesus is my only Love -
Jesus is my All in All.
Jesus is my Everything.
Because of this I am never afraid.

Morning Devotional...
Reactions to the Resurrection
Matthew 28:8-15 NLT
The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel's message. And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Don't be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there."
As the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and told the leading priests what had happened. A meeting with the elders was called, and they decided to give the soldiers a large bribe. They told the soldiers, "You must say, 'Jesus' disciples came during the night while we were sleeping, and they stole his body.' If the governor hears about it, we'll stand up for you so you won't get in trouble." So the guards accepted the bribe and said what they were told to say. Their story spread widely among the Jews, and they still tell it today.

Jesus' resurrection was already causing a great stir in Jerusalem. A group of women was moving quickly through the streets, looking for the disciples to tell them the amazing news that Jesus was alive. At the same time, a group of religious leaders was plotting how to cover up the Resurrection.
Today there is still a great stir over the Resurrection, and there are still only two choices--to believe that Jesus rose from the dead or to be closed to the truth, denying it, ignoring it, or rationalizing it away What has been your choice? Why?
The Best of the Bible--365 Must-Read Bible Passages
Hi everyone. Etta Sue, thanks for the weekly devotional.
It looks like it is going to be a good morning with the sun shining and not too hot today. I have an appointment with a friend at 10:30 and will go to his house as this is the day for the housekeeper and yardmen. Pat is going to have them work on the curtains and inside windows today. She likes to do this at least once-a-year and it doesn't seem that long since she did it.
I will be going to my Monday men's luncheon at 1 pm. Today we are going to a place at the local airport that has very good food. We have gone there several times in the past.
Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional! My first words to Jesus if He appeared? I wonder. :-\
My first words to Jesus? I hope they would be said while I was on my face before Him. I hope they would be, "Oh GOD!!!"
My first words to Jesus would be JESUS!!!
My first words to Jesus? I don't know if I'd have any ... I'm reminded of the song "I can only imagine ..." I think I'd be struck dumb ... or weeping at His feet. :-\
I am leaving for class in about an hour and, afterwards, I'll be on my way south to California. I will be gone a couple weeks to take care of some family matters ... I will check in here as I have opportunity and access to a computer. I'm not sure how that will be, but I'll find out! ;)
Yea me too Jane!
Thank you for the thoughts Etta Sue.
Lovely day here today, but things to do so have to run.

When We See Christ (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/when-we-see-christ.mid)
(Click to hear music)
By Esther Kerr Rusthoi
Oft times the day seems long, our trials hard to bear,
We're tempted to complain, to murmur and despair;
But Christ will soon appear to catch His Bride away,
All tears forever over in God's eternal day.
Refrain
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race 'til we see Christ.
Sometimes the sky looks dark with not a ray of light,
We're tossed and driven on, no human help in sight;
But there is One in heaven who knows our deepest care,
Let Jesus solve your problem--just go to Him in prayer.
Refrain
Life's day will soon be o'er, all storms forever past,
We'll cross the great divide to glory, safe at last.
We'll share the joys of heaven--a harp, a home, a crown.
The tempter will be banished, we'll lay our burden down.

Me? I think I will be speechless when I see Jesus because I would realize I was in Heaven.
What a wonderful day at church yesterday! Church, Sunday School, a catered meal of chicken, beef, mashed potatoes, noodles, green beans, broccoli salad, pasta salad, dessert of different kinds of cake, iced tea or lemonade. Then at 1pm we went up to the sanctuary for a Talent Show. Everything from the church puppets to the church chime choir to the church singing choir, to singing solos to piano playing and singing to string quartets to recitations. Get day and all for only $5!!!
Today was rehab for Ivalou and then we went for breakfast at Perkins. Cold outside and rainy. A great day to stay in and vegetate!!
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I have finally come to read all the posts and enjoy the music. Thanks to both Pat and Etta Sue for the devotionals.
Wendy will be having more tests in the near future. The appt. with a specialist in Victoria turned out to be for another patient....they got the names wrong! She will be seeing a different one after more tests. Thank you for your prayers, I am so worried about her.
I had a small taste of what Wendy goes thro' on a daily basis and has done for eight years now. Can you believe it has been that long....I could not walk or bend over for days and the pain got worse. Wendy and Ralph had a four day rest booked in the US and were due to leave Sunday afternoon. Poor Wendy had to drive me to the ER at 2 A.M.( They watched us both trying to walk and wondered who needed help!) ( Would have been in trouble with an earthquake)It was on Sunday morning as things got so bad and it would have been impossible to look after things (and me) as things stood. The dr. injected steriods and anti inflamitory meds. into my joints in the back.....(Wendy gets this done by a specialist every six weeks, a number of needles in neck and back. ) Let me tell you....it is horribly painful. She is one of the bravest people I have ever known....no complaints, just does what has to be in order to move. The dr. kept saying how sorry she was to be hurting me. I was willing to do anything to stop the pain. It has almost stopped now and I am able to take care of me and a few other things, including getting in and out of bed and getting on slippers, etc. So your prayers were most certainly needed.
Carol, has Don's hearing improved at all? I think that cannon in Nanaimo should be banned if this is what is happening to folks. Talk about remembering a vacation..... :(
Etta Sue, I have found AVG to be the best for my computer. Had many a virus before using that brand. I buy two years at a time and they are always improving the security.
Time to move again before my body locks.....
Pleasant Day /Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Oh, Liz! What a time you've had. I'm praying for your continued improvement and, of course, continuing prayers for Wendy.
The rolling luggage for sewing machines is really nice but - it has to be lifted from car & sometimes stairs. Today, I helped Don lift some really heavy stuff from the basement bound for a donation. It was good to get rid of it - taking Ibuprofen now.
What a hassle of trying to contact a human on this census deal. Still no human and whatever I try is a desk or whatever that is no long working - this is crazy.
I am praying continually for a son who has a big change in his life coming - we will support him by helping him sell his house and most likely make it easy for him to come and go here as well - the dog is good with us so that is easy.
So, our life will change for a while as well.
Larry: I do have the featherweight and really like to use it except it only sews straight stitch.
Liz: Blessings to you and Wendy. You even made light of the two of you walking into the hospital for your injections. Let us hope you never have to experience an earthquake! So sorry about Wendy's tests being confused with another patient. It is medical errors that cause so many problems. When I was 18 and first year in college, sprained my ankle skiing and the hospital nurse tried to sedate me for surgery - I actually fought her off & told her I wasn't having any surgery - she was so mad then found the right woman scheduled for a hysterectomy. There must have been an angel looking out for me that time. I hope and pray that your painful injections help you right away.
As for Don's hearing - the latest test shows some improvement but we can't tell. He is going for strong hearing aids and gets to test them for 45 days. I am sure that the canon in Nanaimo hasn't caused anyone else the same problem. Don was a musician and they are apparently pre-disposed to losing hearing from a loud and sudden noise. He had his own band in high school and one scholarship was for music.
When we see Jesus - I never can talk when overcome with emotion so I can't say anything. It would be nice to hear "well done, thy good and faithful servant".
MY FIRST WORDS ON SEEING JESUS: I know that we are to approach the throne boldly, but I'm afraid I 'd be like Peter after he denied Christ 3 times. ashamed and fearful. I would no doubt weep.
I don't know that I will be able to speak upon seeing Jesus. I hope I will have said it all prior to that time.
Perhaps all that would bare repeating would be "My Lord, I am so very sorry."

Another early day for me. I am to be in Noblesville by 8:45am for a mammogram. Then since I haven't eaten I will find something for breakfast and stroll around Walmart to see if there is anything there that I can't live without. I am going alone so I hope it will be enjoyable and leisurely.
It is quite cold here for this time of year. Only 46 degrees. But it is suppose to be sunny today so it should warm up. SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE

Hi everyone. Not much to say today. It is cooler here with some rain forecast. I just got back from walking at the gym and have something to do later this morning but the rest of the day is free.
Liz, sorry to see that you and Wendy both have been having so much pain. Hope you are feeling better today.
Etta Sue, it has been quite a while since I have been to a Perkins. They always seem to have good food and especially baked products.
Etta Sue: You must be finished with your mammogram by now and I do hope you are finding a nice place for breakfast.
Cleaning a smooth top stove is the pits - you can tell that I don't like the black glass top.
Tonight is one quilt group and we will meet just up the block.
jimiam: Yes, I agree with what you would say as well. Isn't it a wonder that not everyone in the world likes or loves you/me and we know that we are loved by Jesus?
Janet: What's happening?
Al, Marilyn, Jane, perhaps Liz too - I predict rain is on the way to your homes.
It's a dark day - I even need lights on in the house. We're getting some rain right now and the prediction is for scattered showers for the next couple of days. We may even get a snow shower or two, and temperatures today and tomorrow aren't expected above the mid-40's. (sigh!)
We have had strong winds all night and so far today. I am concerned that there will be a power failure. I hate it when that happens, but it does so often out here.
I have a job to do today that I am dreading. I really don't like decluttering. BUT it must be done.
Be back later.
Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who turn many to righteousness will shine like stars forever.
Daniel 12:3 NLT
Eternity to the godly is a day that has no sunset.
Thomas Watson
Lots of rain here. Last night the house sprang two leaks, The chandelier in the dining room was just pouring out the water. Also the skylight in the master bath. Gotta run
Oh, Marilyn, that can be dangerous - especially when the water comes down an electrical fixture. Please be careful.
Marilyn make sure you keep that light off. Be careful.
The three puppies we have left are enjoying the wind. I love watching them frolic with their fur ruffling.
Off again to get more done.
No wonder it is cold here!!! It is snowing outside!!!
All: Myyyy goodness, 40 degree days and snowing! I'm embarrassed that I've been complaining about mid 60's f.
Carol: You are so right. Ironic, I CAN understand why, not everyone loves me, but CAN'T understand why Jesus does.
Judy we are due for a few more days of rain then two of no rain and rain again. I put my emergency lantern on the dining room table to use instead of the chandelier. I have Shampooed the family room carpet this morning and I still want to do the living and dining rooms Keith's sister is coming out for a visit at the end of May after Keith's oldest son's graduation from medical school on June 1st . I want the place to be nice and clean not only for her visit but we will be leaving for Sunriver June 5th for 8 days. It will be nice to come home to a nice clean house.
I am taking lessons in Photoshop now. It is just the beginning and I am already liking it very much. Gotta go vacuum the living room now.
Well, FINALLY I've been able to get back online. The company that did the tuneup on my computer surely did a good job!
All seems about normal here in Nashville (except for really cool temps).
Oh, my goodness...the absolute joy of seeing Jesus would definitely strike me dumb, but my way of worship is to wipe the tears. There would most likely be a big puddle that day.
Much love to all.
Ruth Ann
Checking in from California .... I drove as far as Redding yesterday and, because I'd promised, spent the night to drive on to Sacramento this morning. I have been to Yountville for a visit with Tom and am now at my grandson's home, because Joy "forgot" to leave her computer home for me to use! :-[
Rain ?? Off and on during the day today, but nothing that I couldn't handle. I know it's really raining in Oregon, but I have escaped.
I will be here, in California, for another couple weeks ... or at least until the second week of May.
Y'all take care and I'll try to get access to this computer again in a day or so.

I ate breakfast at Steak and Shake yesterday. I found out that Monday and Tuesday, it is Senior Days with 10% discount! An egg, a sausage patty, their potato patties, two pieces of wheat toast AND coffee....less than $5. Most places that would be $10 with tip!
Today was the first day for about a week that I could sleep in and in, I did! I didn't wake up until 9:17am!! It was cold...almost freezing and I was snuggly warm!
Rehab is at 2pm today. Ivalou has her last speech therapy today but she has physical therapy twice a week the month of May. We don't know about June yet.
And probably tomorrow it will be mowing the grass again. My dandelions are all white!! Better than snow, though...Canada!!/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

Today is a beautiful sunny day. The wind has died down and everything is bright and clean.
For the poor, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast.
Proverbs 15:15 NLT
When I think of God, my heart is so full of joy that the notes leap and dance as they leave my pen; and since God has given me a cheerful heart, I serve Him with a cheerful spirit.
Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809)
It's not sunny here, Judy. It's cloudy and chilly and windy. But the snow has (so far) been limited to the higher elevations in the Adirondacks.
I got word last night that a neighbor has been diagnosed with cancer in her jaw. The same thing her husband died of about 7 or 8 years ago. Apparently she started having some discomfort last August but put off checking into it until a few weeks ago. :'(
Jean you have the weather we got yesterday. But I still have the fire going.
I am sorry about your neighbour. I just wish people would get things checked out sooner.
This is a song we used to sing when I was a child....no one seems to know it now.

MASTER, THE TEMPEST IS RAGING (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/master_the_tempest_is_raging.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Master, the tempest is raging!
The billows are tossing high!
The sky is o'ershadowed with blackness,
No shelter or help is nigh;
Carest Thou not that we perish?
How canst Thou lie asleep,
When each moment so madly is threatening
A grave in the angry deep?
Refrain
The winds and the waves obey Thy will,
Peace, be still!
Whether the wrath of the storm tossed sea,
Or demons or men, or whatever it be
No waters can swallow the ship where lies
The Master of ocean, and earth, and skies;
They all shall sweetly obey Thy will,
Peace, be still! Peace, be still!
They all shall sweetly obey Thy will,
Peace, peace, be still!
Master, with anguish of spirit
I bow in my grief today;
The depths of my sad heart are troubled
Oh, waken and save, I pray!
Torrents of sin and of anguish
Sweep o'er my sinking soul;
And I perish! I perish! dear Master
Oh, hasten, and take control.
Refrain
Master, the terror is over,
The elements sweetly rest;
Earth's sun in the calm lake is mirrored,
And heaven's within my breast;
Linger, O blessed Redeemer!
Leave me alone no more;
And with joy I shall make the blest harbor,
And rest on the blissful shore.
Refrain

Well, here I am at the HandyMart... It's 31 cents a scoop night at Baskin Robins and the crowd buying icecream is huge! I'm sitting in the car and the reception is good.
I have such memories, Judy of "Master the Tempest is Raging" while sitting around the piano. Mum sure loved that hymn and sang out loudly! (She'd be 99 years old this year!!!)
What would I say if I saw the Master? I think I'd say, "My Saviour and my God!" But I don't really know.
Pat Amy Passfield loved that hymn as well. She would sing it as she would lead VBS!
That's so true, Judy. She did like that.
I've found a radio station I'd love to get in Canada but at least we can get it on the internet. It's BBN (Bible Broadcasting Network) and I get it here at 101.3 FM and it's wonderful. I went online to read while here at the HandiMart and they have courses you can take, etc. What a wonderful radio station.

I am so tired tonight, Yesterday shampooed the family room carpet, today I shampooed the dining room, living room, 1 bedroom, the master bath and the hall. I am praying that my back doesn't tell me tomorrow that I did too much today. The I slipped on some water on the kitchen floor and landed on my right knee. so far that doesn't hurt.
We have had all sorts of weather here today, however there was a window this afternoon that gave me to opportunity to get out and walk the dogs. The sun is out now, we have had rain, hail and wind all in one day.
(from our Bulletin at church on Sunday...)
No Man
No man could quench the crimson flood that crowned the sacred hill.
No man could grasp this picture of submission to God's will.
As on a dark and cruel cross, He wrought salvation's plan
And paid for the eternal loss of vile and hopeless man.
No man could feel the anguish there as Abba turned away.
No man could understand His prayer or where His purpose lay.
As there beneath a crown of thorn, He laid aside His glory
Clothed instead with body torn to write love's greatest story.
No man could understand the power as He cried, "It is finished."
Or realized here dawned the hour where death's defeat diminished.
And as the minds of feeble man saw death's finality,
No man could see love's endless span secured at Calvary.
No man could bar the Holy Tomb where Heaven's Master lay.
No man could know a Perfect Groom now waits his Wedding Day.
No man could know the sacrifice of this One Perfect Lamb,
Or r3ealize the total price paid by the great I AM.
But now all men may know He lives; He sets the captive free.
In love and mercy He forgives our vast iniquity.
Who-so-ever will may come and now all men can know
He waits to welcome sinners home redeemed in Calbary's flow.
-Janet Martin-
What a blessing to sit here in my quiet little space sharing God's love with y'all.
I also love the song of today. When life is difficult, it's easy to think of our Master standing in the brow of our boat, fully in command of what's going on.
This afternoon has been one of blessings for me - how great to have the time to serve our Master. Three of us cleaned the church, then grabbed a bit of lunch at Captain D's, returned to church to prepared and receive food donations for dinner that we then took to members of our church who are having many dire health issues - all sisters with the youngest being almost 90 and the oldest nearly 100. I'll remember for a long time the sacred moment of prayer when we all joined hands and thanked God for our blessings, for long lives, and for sure knowledge that He knows and understands.
I've been thinking of the music and words of another old song of the church, "What Can I Give Thee, Master?" How MUCH that song has meant to me over the years.
May God bless us all tonight.

Pat I would listen to those stations when I was driving to LA. Loved them. Also John still listens to them states side. They are so much better than what we have up here.
Ruth Ann Welcome back! You have been missed. So glad your computer is working now.
Up a little earlier than normal this morning, but makes for a pleasant beginning to what should be a lovely day.
Water on the lake is like glass and the birds are singing now.
Pat: You're right the BBN is wonderful I listen to them regularly here in Tn.
Hi everyone. I am sitting in the eye surgeons waiting room. We arrived at 6 am and spent the night in a motel about 5 miles from here. We checked out this place yesterday afternoon.
They have taken her back to have the cataract removed. She was a little hyper about.
They said it would be about 90 minutes.
I was surprised when I turned on my iPod touch and found a connection here in the surgery center.
Ruth Ann, it is so good to see you back posting.
Going to sign off for today as am using a touch screen keyboard with one finger typing.

Good morning.
I got Ivalou to rehab and then we ate at O'Charleys. Great meal and much better than something frozen, nukes or leftovers at home!
Going to be a busy day today, I hope. That means, I hope I get some more crystal cleaned and wood surfaces polished. I started yesterday on the fireplace and all on that wall. Then Tony called. He is a bachelor this week since Charlene is in Michigan with her newest granddaughter, Claire. We talked about an hour and a half!
Then I finished that wall and watched TV.
Today I want to move onto another wall, then eat lunch and then mow the yard. Maybe not in that order. Looks windy out there and still not very warm but is suppose to get in the 70's so I will wait until it is warmer. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Larry, I'll pray for your wife. Glad you were able to find the technology to share.
Ruth Ann, it's very nice to meet you. :) I'm Connie. I'm new here.
I'm off work today. I teach music for a Christian school. We just had our big spring play--last performance was Tuesday, I worked yesterday and today took a day off to rest up. So instead of resting I plan to go through Mom's paperwork and make sure she gets established as a resident of my state. She just moved close by to a very nice "lightly assisted" living facility. She's struggling with the early stages of dementia, but we don't know what type.
I'm finding as I go along that all the paperwork involved in being a senior citizen can be overwhelming. No wonder she was so stressed! It's like playing whack-a-mole. One expense taken care of and another pops up.
Before February she was hundreds of miles away, and very stressed over everything. I'm so glad she's close to me--five minutes in the car and I can be there with her.
Anyhow, so I'm off work, going through her files, and maybe getting out with the camera. Just read in I John about how in God there's no darkness. That's so comforting. I'm thinking of myself as a camera today--if my settings are off, God's light seems overwhelming. So I position myself to have fellowship with God--I am an imperfect eye, much like the camera, so I carefully set myself up by spending time with Him, adjusting my speed, aperture, and--very important--the focus has to be right.
Larry, I think everyone, regardless how many times we're told cataract removal is a cinch, feels stressed about it beforehand. Great that you found internet access while you waited.
Connie, what a wonderful analogy you use in your walk with God!
It's still chilly and windy here but this afternoon I absolutely must get to Town Hall and pick an application for a state grant to get my roof repaired and new railings on my decks.
Hello!!
I don't post often, however I'm here reading and praying for you, almost every day. My husband and I got back from Toronto, dental appointments, at 1:30 this morning. I am under the periodontists instructions to have an "easy day." Good thing I'm not looking after grandchildren until Saturday.
Connie - I hope you don't mind me sharing your analogy with my son & husband. I found it really spoke to me!!
Hi Ruth!
Larry praying for your wife.
Had a day in town today and did some pricing. I need a trellis archway and some soil so I have the prices I need.
I needed to pick up some new shoes for Mother and kass needed some Sunday dress shoes. That was my day. I am off and heading to other things I need to do.
Do not be afraid
The Lord who created you says: "Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you."
Isaiah 43:1-2 NLT
Two Margarets
Margaret MacLachlan and Margaret Wilson, Covenanters in Wigtown, Scotland, were tried for their faith on April 13, 1685, for refusing to take the Oath of Abjuration, which stated that the Church of God is a department of the State. Found guilty of rebellion, attending field meetings, and worshipping in places other than a church, they were ordered to receive their sentences on their knees. When they refused to bow before anyone but God, they were forced down to their knees and then were sentenced to death by drowning.
On May 11, 1685, the two faithful Margarets were tied to posts and staked in the sea as the tide was rising. The older Margaret (MacLachlan) was farther out. They were given many chances to recant their beliefs, but they stood firm and resolute.
Margaret MacLachlan remained silent, her eyes closed throughout the ordeal, communing with Christ until death. As the tide rose eighteen-year-old Margaret Wilson began to sing a Covenanter rendition of Psalm 25:7. Then, she recited from Romans 8: "We are more than conquerors through him that loves us...."
After the waves washed over her head, the soldiers pulled her out, pleading with her one last time to "pray for the king!" She prayed, but her pray was, "Lord, give him repentance, forgiveness, and salvation, if it be Thy holy will." The angry soldiers threw her back into the water, and she joined Margaret MacLachlan before the throne.
We may never face the rising tide of the sea, but the deep waters of trouble and loss can be just as overwhelming. How do you react when you feel you are about to drown in the rising tide of your own troubles?
I haven't had time to read ALL the posts since I was here last, but I wanted to let y'all know that I visited with Tom at the Veteran's Home hospital today, and talked with his doctor and dietitian ... the progress is really amazing! In fact, they are discussing a meeting next week when they will decide if he is ready to return to his own room in the Annex. His speech is much improved and he is "eating" at lunch time, now ... granted, it's pureed and spoon-fed, but he has been gaining weight, so they have cut back on his G-tube intake -- at lunchtime at least. That's the only time they give him food by mouth.
I am truly impressed with the quality of care he is getting and the love with which all the staff treat him. God is still in the miracle working business!
AMEN Jane, God is so good and always in control
This is for Ruth Ann
Thank you Larry for all your work.

What shall I give Thee, Master?
Thou who didst die for me.
Shall I give less of what I possess,
Or shall I give all to Thee?
Refrain
Jesus, my Lord and Savior;
Thou hast giv'n all for me;
Thou didst leave Thy home above
To die on Calvary.
What shall I give Thee, Master?
Thou hast giv'n all for me;
Not just a part or half of my heart,
I will give all to Thee.
What shall I give Thee, Master?
Thou hast redeemed my soul;
My gift is small but it is my all—
Surrendered to Thy control.
Refrain
What shall I give Thee, Master?
Giver of gifts divine!
I will not hold time, talents or gold—
For everything shall be Thine.

Jane I am so pleased that he is doing so well. Continuing to pray for you.
Hi, to new friends and old, alike. Yes, I know...I'm crazy for being here at this time of the ni er, morning. ^-^
Well, at least I'm here. Judy, thanks for the song. As I was doing errands today, I felt led to sing that church next week when I'm doing the music for the devotions downstairs here in the apartment building.
I'm excited - my high school class is having a joint "birthday party" to celebrate our 70th birthdays this year. It starts at 4 pm today. And, then tomorrow will be the reunion (52nd). Since our school was closed many years ago, all classes hold one reunion at a local hotel each year. This year, my brother's class ('67) will be honored, and he's been asked to pray the benediction prayer.
Well, now, I think it's time to toddle off to bed and get some VERY MUCH NEEDED "beauty sleep."
G'nite, friends.
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. Other than putting up with the annoyance of the eye patch and some minor discomfort Pat got along great yesterday. She couldn't wear her glasses because of the patch but she slept most of the afternoon and retired early last night and slept through the night. We will see the eye doctor at 11 am this morning and the patch will come off. He even called her last evening to check on how she was doing.
Today our men's Friday coffee group is meeting at McDonalds instead of the Senior Center. Apparently the census people are taking over the senior center today.
Whistlinsadler, it is nice to see your posting here and hope you will post here regularly. I am sure having your music program over is a big relief.
Thank you all for your expressions of concern for Pat.
I have a long list of things I need to be working on. I did get several little projects done yesterday including having blood tests (which came back within normal range) and getting an uninterrupted power supply and also a case to build my own external hard drive using the backup disk I have on the shelf. This way I will be able to use the Bounce Back program.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Ruth Ann, I sure hope you're sleeping in this morning after such a late night!
Larry, I'm glad to hear Pat is through with the cataract surgery. You seem to have accomplished quite a lot yesterday.
Judy, thanks for that beautiful hymn.
Now I'm off to take care of some chores. ;)

I pray every day for my friends and family so even if I don't mention names on here, you all have my prayers.
I had a very busy day yesterday. Breakfast, Bible devotions, catching up online, a load of laundry, cleaned some crystal and shelves, lunch, cleaned three cat litter boxes and put in new litter, mowed the lawn, showered AND relaxed. Whew!
Today has been changing the bed linens, laundry, breakfast, talked to Ivalou an hour or more, read devotions, now catching up online. Then lunch and clean more crystal and shelves. When I say crystal that means crystal and what-nots. When I say shelves that means two floor to ceiling built-in bookcases full of crystal and what-nots. When my husband was alive we went to garage sales and flea markets and purchased crystal in various patterns and uses. All clear crystal.
It is quite windy here today and yesterday! My home if very sound and I can hear the wind. Makes you want to yell STOP! I guess that is one way to get those whirly-gigs (seeds) off the maple trees! And it is bright and sunny and in the 70's! Too nice to be inside but...---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@

Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do.
Proverbs 4:23 NLT
Let us learn to cast our hearts into God.
Bernard of Clairvaux
Guard the inside
If you're typical, you think of guarding your heart in terms of keeping things out. Corruption, false ideas, temptations—all are to be held at arm's length, never to be allowed in the inner depths of your affections. But there's another side to this vigilance. We are to keep things in. In fact, if we can master that, the corruptions and temptations will often take care of themselves.
Think about it: The things that can assail a heart from the outside are innumerable, far too overwhelming to manage. But the things we are told to keep within—the spirit of Jesus, the humility and gentleness, the servanthood and sacrifice, the worship and thankfulness—these are one Spirit. Most religions tell us to avoid the bad; God tells us to embrace Him. We are better equipped to focus on His character than on the enemy's devices. Nowhere are we told to live against the sinful nature and hope that the Spirit will show up. We're told to live by the Spirit and expect the sinful nature to have no power. We often get confused about that.
Too many Christians guard the way into their hearts to keep things out. That may be appropriate at times, but try a different approach. Guard the way out. Stand at the inside of the gate, and be careful about what may be leaving. Once in a while, we get a life-altering glimpse of true worship. By all means, keep it in! From time to time, we'll see a picture of true servanthood. Don't let that picture go! Hold on to these things! Treasuring the wellspring that God has birthed in your heart will leave little room for those corruptions you once obsessed over. And the wellspring is a much more pleasant preoccupation.

Under His wings you will find refuge.
You will not fear the terror of night.
Psalm 91:4-5
Words: Sabine Baring-Gould, in Church Times, 1865
Music: Joseph Barnby, 1868
Now the day is over,
Night is drawing nigh,
Shadows of the evening
Steal across the sky.
Now the darkness gathers,
Stars begin to peep,
Birds, and beasts and flowers
Soon will be asleep.
Jesus, give the weary
Calm and sweet repose;
With Thy tenderest blessing
May mine eyelids close.
Grant to little children
Visions bright of Thee;
Guard the sailors tossing
On the deep, blue sea.
Comfort those who suffer,
Watching late in pain;
Those who plan some evil
From their sin restrain.
Through the long night watches
May Thine angels spread
Their white wings above me,
Watching round my bed.
When the morning wakens,
Then may I arise
Pure, and fresh, and sinless
In Thy holy eyes.
Glory to the Father,
Glory to the Son,
And to Thee, blest Spirit,
While all ages run.

Connie, it's nice to see what you do in your job. Do you have a specific instrument you enjoy teaching or are you strictly a voice teacher?
It's so nice sitting here in this HandiMart parking lot and listening to the hymns you've been putting in, Judy! I especially like this last one. "What Shall I Give You Master?"
Well, Paul is ready to start the engine and head the 4 miles up the road to the house but I'll be back tomorrow.
Good night all. Paul says "Hi"
Sorry I missed you, Pat, but by the time you got to the wi-fi I was sound asleep. It was a busy, hectic afternoon around here and it about wore me out.
Judy, I love that you're posting hymns every day! :D
Good morning all. I woke up again this morning to heavy rain, wind, thunderstorms, and screaming sirens for tornado alerts. No photos today
it would appear. I think they are forcasting 7-8" of rain over the week end.
Judy: The hymns are really enjoyable, thanks.
Larry: Keep us posted concerning your wife I took the liberty to add her to my prayer list.
Connie: Hi there! I'm new here also and hope you enjoy it as much as I. I would like to add your mother to my prayer list. I'm a facility director for a somewhat upscale senior living community. We are considered an assisted care facility, though it is very minimal.
Jeanne Lee: You just be careful of the birds this week end. :) I think I'll never forget your "close encounter".
Jim, believe me on the rare occasions that I see that heron I am very wary! ;D

I have another day of crystal cleaning done. Then I visited with Ivalou. I got the bank statement yesterday and I have to have my register balance out with the bank statement. It didn't. I checked. Re-checked. Tony called to go out to eat since Charlene is still in Michigan. We went to Anderson to Hacienda Real.
When we got home we went to the garage. I found the caulk gun I was looking for. I put air in the Honda lawnmower tire. He raised the deck on the Craftsman mower so it would mow higher. He replace a bulb between the garage doors on the outside. Then he went home.
I went back to checking the bank account. My phone rang. Ivalou asking me if I knew I had a light on in my garage. I had also forgot my back door to the house was open and unlocked!! When I went out that door earlier, the basement light was...since I was hunting for the caulk gun earlier in the week. So I shut the light off in the garage and locked the back door. Does this all sound like old age or Alzhiemers?
Back to the bank account. I finally took another paper and wrote down each entry and it finally balanced with the bank. Why is it when I make one mistake, I make 3-4 in the whole month??? Grrr!
Today a church member is coming for me to scan some pictures to put on the overhead at church tomorrow. Then a baby shower at 1pm. Not cleaning crystal today...I don't think.
It rained in the night and overcast today with predictions of more rain. I know the people that have the weekend off are upset with rain on weekends. The last three weekends have been rain! But now that it is May, hopefully the weekends will be nice for practice and qualifications for the Indianapolis 500 Race. That's THE biggie for Indiana! ?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

Hi everyone. Pat and I are just back from an activity this morning and am finishing up my lunch. Then I will rest for awhile and get back to come computer work I need to do for an organization for which I am Treasurer.
Jim, you certainly don't need my permission to put either my wife or I on your prayer lists. I feel we can never have too many prayers offered on our behalf. My wife is doing very nicely from her surgery and is able to use the computer again and watch TV. I haven't seen her try to read much yet. Hopefully the vision will improve over the next few days as the eye heals from the surgery.
Etta Sue, it is interesting that you worked on your bank reconciliation today and I did the same thing. The bank said we had more money than our "Money" bank register we keep on the computer. I wasn't concerned as long as it was that way. However, didn't want it to run on. I found that we had entered the same deductions in both of the bank accounts we have so, of course, it reduced our balance in our Money program. I deleted these duplicate entries and am within forty cents of agreeing and that is not worth spending another hour or two looking for. We will just make an adjustment to bring it into balance the next time we work up the statement.
It is not raining today, as of yet, but has been cloudy with a light mist all morning. Tomorrow we are suppose to get some heavy rain that is headed down from up Ruth Ann's way. It is being pushed down our way by another front behind the storm front.
Kassie had an exciting day yesterday. The son of one of her teachers is dating Cherie Piper. This young lady is on the Canadian Olympic Woman's Hockey team. She visited the class that her future Mom in law teaches, and brought with her the 3 gold medals that Team Canada won!. Each student received a signed hockey card from Cherie. What an awesome experience for these kids to motivate and inspire!
Today Kassie has gone to Canada's Wonderland. John and I have the day alone!
God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son.
Romans 8:29 NLT
The Reforming Monk
Girolamo Savonarola was born in 1452 in Ferrara, Italy. He was a sensitive and serious boy who was enamored with the study of religion. He started training as a physician, but his idealism caused him to drop out and join a Dominican order to fight the evils of the world.
Savonarola was deeply distressed by the corruption within the Catholic Church and what he saw as a lack of piety among its leaders. He spent his time praying, fasting, and teaching the novice monks. He became famous as a preacher. He preached about God's pending judgment, the need for repentance, against the worldliness of the clergy, the evils of the ruling class, and the general corruption of secular living.
Savonarola used his power and popularity to bring about reform of church and state. He is considered an early reformer within the Catholic Church. Under his leadership Florence underwent a startling transformation: businessmen restored ill-gotten gains, there was much Bible ready, and the churches were crowded. At the same time, Savonarola made many enemies.
With the passage of time, community support for Savonarola's strict views started to wane. On May 13, 1497, Alexander VI excommunicated Savonarola from the church on the grounds that he had disobeyed the pope's commands. He was arrested in April 1498, tried for sedition and heresy and was brutally tortured. On May 23, 1498, he was publicly hanged and his body burned.
In the succeeding years the majority of citizens of Florence went back to their old ways, yet many permanently changed. One of those was a sculptor named Michelangelo.

His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns;
and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Revelation 19:12
Author: Matthew Bridges, 1800-1894, and
Godfrey Thring, 1823-1903
Musician: George J. Elvey, 1816-1893
Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne;
Hark! how the heav'nly anthem drowns All music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing Of Him who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King Thro' all eternity.
Crown Him the Son of God Before the worlds began:
And ye, who tread where He hath trod, Crown Him the Son of man;
Who ev'ry grief hath known That wrings the human breast,
And takes and bears them for His own, That all in Him may rest.
Crown Him the Lord of love! Behold His hands and side,
Rich wounds, yet visible above, In beauty glorified:
No angel in the sky Can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends his wond'ring eye At mysteries so bright.
Crown Him the Lord of life, Who triumphed o'er the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save;
His glories now we sing Who died, and rose on high,
Who died, eternal life to bring, And lives that death may die.
Crown Him the Lord of years, The Potentate of time,
Creator of the rolling spheres Ineffably sublime!
All hail, Redeemer, hail! For Thou hast died for me:
Thy praise shall never, never fail Thro'out eternity.

HYMN HISTORY:
It is not surprising that such a magnificent opening line as "Crown Him With Many Crowns" should be used by different hymn-writers. But it is not known whether the two writers of this hymn ever met. Matthew Bridges was one of the considerable group of Anglicans who were influenced by Newman and Faber. Godfrey Thring, a much younger man, became a Prebendary of Wells Cathedral in 1876 and it was he who altered and rearranged Bridges' hymn so that both their names now go with it in the hymn books.
But even good first lines are not always fashioned straight away. The first line of this great hymn used to be "Crown Him with crowns of gold" - a line that was for many years popular in the United States, being considered more impressive than any other description.
The five verses celebrate the kingship of Christ each with a definite theme,
Crown Him the Lord of Love
Crown Him the Son of God
Crown Him the Lord of Life
Crown Him the Lord of Peace
Crown Him the Lord of Heaven
thus making the hymn a fine example of Christian teaching about the person of Christ.
It's wonderful to consider the present Kingship of our Lord Jesus Christ! There are many in our day who think that Christ will become King one day, but I believe the Scripture teaches that He IS King NOW. So let's crown Him in all that we do or say.
AMEN AL!!
I have been away for sometime. Lots of things happening but not to be shared with the public.
Last week we went to my nephews cottage, the reasons are personal but while there Mel was cutting the grass and instead of going around a garage door that has sharp edges he tried going under thus cutting his head and needed to have it glued back together, a 4 inch gash, the modern way of repair is glue since there is very little flesh on the skull, the bleeding came to a rapid stop letting us leave for home at our planned time with a stop at the local hospital on departure.
Today the local church had a ladies breakfast with Hillary Price wife of Charles Price the pastor of Living Truth Church/Peoples Church in Toronto.
She gave a wonderful message which was also part of her personal testimony. I needed to hear this as it will help with some of my personal issues.
Instead of heading home I then spent the afternoon with a friend that is unwell, she is under going many tests and so far no answers at it stands she is unable to return to work until there is a fix of some kind.
It is good to be busy but a slow down and rest is good as well.
Larry: About balancing the check book I would not give up until it did balance, only then would my mind be settled. Yes even for 40 cents but that is me.
To everyone my prayer and good night. Ruth
Hi Ruth. Have a good Lord's Day.
Good morning all. Wow, more rain today. As of last night we have recorded 10" since late Friday night. Some areas here have recorded as much as 16". A great amount of rain in so short a time, and creating a lot of flooding. The lake has risen a good bit, but still within the sea walls. Should not become a problem as it has a good spillway.
JudyB: Great info concerning Savonarola. I haven't read of him, but have came across the name while reading of the reformation period beginning with Martin Luther. If memory serves, Savonarola was put to death about 20 years prior to Luther posting his "95" thesis.
Larry: Thanks, I was almost certain you would not mind, but one never knows in today's world. Good to hear your wife is doing well and I'm confident the vision will improve with time.
WOOHOO WE HAVE A BRAND NEW BABY GRANDSON!!! <3 Nathaniel was born this morning just over 6 lbs.
God is so good.

By the way, Nethaniel, in Hebrew, means "given of God." It's the combination of Nathan(given), i(my or me), and el (for Elohim)
Judy, congratulations! A new grandson is cause for celebration - especially after the pregnancy problems Megan had just a couple of months ago. Praise God!
