Scripture: John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" KJV

Dear JESUS:
I want to thank You for what you have already done.

I am not going to wait until I see results --- I am thanking you now.

I am not going to wait until I receive rewards --- I am thanking you now.

I am not going to wait until the pain disappears --- I am thanking you now.

I am not going to wait until the journey gets easier --- I am thanking you now.

I am not going to wait until challenges are removed --- I am thanking you now.

I am not going to wait until people say they are sorry --- I am thanking you now.

I am not going to wait until I understand my grief --- I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until financial situations improve --- I am thanking you now.

I am thanking you because I am alive.

I am thanking you because I have walked through the obstacles.

I am thanking you because I made it through the days difficulties.

I am thanking you because Jesus --- you have not given up on me.

I am thanking you because I have the opportunity to do more and do it better

Prayer: Father thank you that each day is a new adventure in your kingdom with Jesus. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

Janet:   Good thoughts on giving thanks more often!  Thank you!

Larry and Marilyn:  Now I see - I can download "Kindle" to my iPod.  Sorry, I just did not understand that - it must have been so plain to see that I just could not "see".   Amazing stuff out there.

Another nice Sunday sermon - they had tech problems but did get it going.  Coffee was served in the hallway instead of outdoors because it we 35 degrees when we left here.

Happy Anniversary to John and Judy

Happy Birthday to Marilyn

Judy and John, congratulations on your anniversary.  We had our 54th anniversary on Friday a week ago.  My, how time has flown by!

Happy Birthday, Marilyn.  Hope you enjoyed your day.

We were not over last week's snow and freezing weather (had frozen pipes a couple of days)....and it hit again during the night and snowed almost all day today.  Was pretty falling, but we did not go to church.  At our age it is not good to get out in it, we both have poor balance, especially my husband.

Etta Sue, glad to hear you were finally "set free"...it can get to be cabin fever conditions after staying in for so long!  We did not get out all last week from Sunday until Friday.

Our friends who are moving to Maine sent email Saturday morning early, saying they were in Virginia near the PA border, and expected to get to Connecticut by last night.  Hopefully they are in Maine by now.  He said they had the worst driving conditions in Oklahoma than anywhere else.  We sure do miss them.

Hello to all others who stop in to read tonight.  Stay warm!
~Janice

Thank you Ruth, RuthV Carol, and Janice for the nice birthday wishes.  I had a very nice day. al;though my steak was not Medium rare but just about raw inside, I didn't complain though I ate a few bites and brought the rest  home for the dogs and they loved it.

Big 3 days of traveling coming up so I am heading to bed.

Hello all, I gave up on this site a few years ago because I could not figure out how to do much.
I love seeing the beautiful pics so I am going to try again.
How do I post with out quoting someone?

Judy & John Happy Anniversary!
Janet, that is a beautiful prayer!
Marilyn, Happy Birthday!

It was really nice to get out yesterday.  Kind of made me feel like I was isolated...less than two miles and the road was clear all the way to Indy and back to within two miles of me again!  We were suppose to have freezing rain last night but didn't.  I can tell it isn't as cold because I lowered the furnace temp four degrees before going to bed and it didn't get down that low to turn on the furnace!

Kitty and I went to Borders after we ate at MCL.  I found the book, Women in the Bible on the bargain table for $7.99.  On Droid, I Had dowloaded the app 'coupons'.  I opened it, searched for Borders and there was a 40% off one item!  So I went up to the desk and showed her the coupon on the Droid and asked if this was good.  Sure enough.  All I had to do was make the numbers on the bar code larger so she could type them in and my purchase was $5.13 including tax!!

Today Ivalou and I are putting our trash out, putting a letter in the mailbox, going to Anderson to Art's Pizza Buffet, then KMart and possible Marsh's.  Will be good to get out again!

vapor ~ You did fine without quoting.  Just type and Preview/Post!

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee and then we went to the gym and started our walking program again.  I tried walking at a slower pace today and not talking while walking (hard for me to do) and I think I got along better.  I was able to walk about a half mile.  I will try to add an extra lap or two tomorrow.

Vapor, glad to see you back with us.  In answer to your question, when I have read the last posting I just scroll down and use the Quick Reply box to write my posting.  From there I can either post or preview my message.  If I preview it the message box will be at the top and I can see how it will actually look.  The actual preview box in which to write will be under the previewed message.  Just be sure that you click the "post" button when you are finished with your message.

Judy, are you going to be with John on one of his trips?  Noisy aren't I?  Hope you have a nice trip in your travels.  Also want to wish you and John a Happy Anniversary.

Janet, thanks for the devotional message for this week.  I was glad to see Green Bay win last night.  The game was good, the half-time entertainment wasn't and I didn't see any commercials that particularly stood out.

Etta Sue, thanks for the info on the Droid battery life.  Glad you were able to get your car out and get away from your house for a little bit.  I looked at your Facebook pictures.  It sounds like you are trying to catch up on your shopping.  Good deal on the Border's coupon.

Marilyn, I couldn't eat a steak where the juices are red and run across the plate.  Glad your dogs enjoyed the steak.  Happy Birthday.  You are just a year and few days older than I am.  Washing a cat is a "no fun" job and the cat usually wins the battle.

Janice, I understand the trapped feeling of not being able to get out and go when you want.  We went through that a few days ago and sure was glad to see the walks and streets cleared after several days.  Congratulations on 54 years of marriage.

Carol, you will like the Kindle e-book application on your iPad.

:hb2: :hb3: :hb3:  Happy birthday Marilyn and I think you should of sent that steak back.  Hope that rest of your day was great.

:groupwave: Happy Anniversary John and Judy so you are just behind Noreen and I we hope that you have many more.

Larry :hb2: :hb3: :dogrun:  Happy birthday to you and look after yourself and don't overdo it when you are doing your walking.

Well I have read many of the post's and you all have had a lot of snow and cold weather it has been the same in the Niagara region with a lot of snow and we are supposed to get a very cold front this week.  It has been a real pain with snow as my snow blower has not been working and the young man that is fixing it is waitng to here from the builders of the enging what to do as all the things he has done seems not to work.

Vapor:  I will say welcome as I don't remember you from before.   Where are you from? Hope that you are not snowed in.

Ruth v:  Glad the you got home safely as I know what that highway is like in a snow storm as I travelled it with Gray Coach many times and it was rough back then.

Judy B.  I am so glad that you and Ruth have become such good friends it is wonderful how the Lord works and put's people in the right place.

Well I pray and hope that you all have a wonderful week and have many oppertunities to witness for him.  God Bless.  Gord and Noreen.

Larry, I hope you have (or HAD) a Happy Birthday.  I don't remember what day you said it is, so this may be way off.

Hello to all others.....where is everyone?  Can't believe I am the first to post this morning...being out in the Mountain Time zone.

They say we are going to get hit with another snow storm beginning today or tonight.  Ugh!  Hubby's kids may not be able to get here for his 88th birthday tomorrow.  Can hardly believe that he is that age already.  He is the last of his family living, and has outlived all 4 brothers, and two sisters.  One more sister lived to be less than a month away from being 95!

Oh, what a great time Ivalou and I had yesterday.  We did get the trash out and ate pizza at our favorite pizza place.  We got to KMart.  I was looking for a candy thermometer...mine got broken awhile back.  None at KMart.  Marsh's and Elder-Beerman didn't have any either.  I used Droid and it said that Good's Candy and Ice Cream Shop had them.  They didn't either.  But Ivalou treated us to an ice cream cone.  Coconut Almond Fudge is GREAT!!  If Ivalou said it once, she said it a half a dozen times...This has been a great day!  Made my heart smile!!

So when I came home I found a candy thermometer online and ordered it!  Now it will come in the mail and save the tread on my tires and the soles on my shoes!

Last night was church council meeting with only 8 people showing up.  Not a quorum.

Today I am doing some laundry and that's about it.

Hi everyone.  I had a very busy morning and have just now finished my lunch and will soon rest for a couple of hours.  After coffee my friend and I went to the gym and walked about 3/4 mile.  I hope the next time I will be able to make it a mile.  Then I went to WalMart for a few items, came home and fixed my lunch and then went to a meeting.  Needless to say I am ready for the rest period.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Pat saw an oral surgeon this morning about a place she has on her tongue.  He told her it was benign but it needs to come off as it will just keep getting bigger.  She said he had a name for it but she couldn't remember what it was.  She now has to get authorization from the insurance company to have the lazar surgery, under a local, to get it removed.

We are predicted to have some rain, snow and sleet tomorrow evening but then be in the 40s on Thursday so it doesn't sound like it will be anything to worry about.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes.  I consider this a hallmark birthday since I honestly never expected to live until I was 70.  Now I have my eye on 80.  Only God knows whether that will happen or not.

Etta Sue, glad you and Ivalou had a wonderful day and it sounds like the ice cream treat was one of the highlights.  Isn't it great that you can find almost any item you need on the internet and have it delivered to your house.

Janice, hope you all don't have too much snow.

Gord, I am trying not to overdo the walking but know we needed to get back in the habit and going to walk as had been remiss for several days.  Hope you get your snowblower fixed soon as sure you don't need to be shoveling snow.

When we went to Walmart on Saturday I bought myself a Cookies and Cream ice cream cake and I have been very conservative about eating it, because it  sure is good.

Nothing much going on around here today. Nita is coming by to get some cardboard boxes that she is going to use to build Maycie a playhouse.

Did anyone notice my absence yesterday?  We had planned to go to Amarillo to see Darrel's Mom, who had been dangerously ill with congestive heart failure.  Pauline is 98 and very  "tough" but this was a close call.  Well, we got that bad weather, she got better, and we hadn't gone...anyway, we got a call at 4:15 that she had been taken back to the hospital, and that if we wanted to see her, we should come.  So we got ready and left.  When we got there, she was still in the ER, and looked very bad.  But she knew us and was glad to see us.  Her blood sugar had dropped to 17!!  She's been diabetic for 37 years, had never gone that low, and was afraid to go to sleep, thinking she might not wake up.  She had been awake for 4 days and 4 nights!

Anyway, they admitted her, kept checking her blood sugar and giving her sugar water thru her IV, it would drop back down, more sugar, back up, etc.  Finally in the afternoon, it stabilized at around 127, and she looked completely different!  She visited with me for about an hour and a half, seemed normal to me.  Since she was so much improved and a storm was on the way, we come on back home last night.

AND....drumroll....we did get snow!!  We had the sideways kind, but looks like we have maybe 7 inches or so!  We are thankful for the moisture.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LARRY!!  LOVE YOU, BROTHER!!

I didn't make it into town today to see Mom and Beth, but will go in the morning.

I have read all the posts, and enjoy hearing about each of you and what you're doing.

They have called me four times now to ask me to work, and I have said 'no'.  My back is better, and I want it to stay that way!!

Tuesday night....February 8
Janet, I am glad you said 'no'.  Enough is enough, huh?
Also glad that you got safely home before the storm.  We are having snow still falling since afternoon, and a cold cold wind all day today.  We had -20º wind chill here in our town on the plains of ENM, according to the weatherman in Amarillo this evening. He also said that the temps would not get above freezing before Saturday..... Brrrrrr.

Tomorrow is Earl's 88th birthday, and his daughter at Amarillo was planning to be here, but there is no way she can come since this storm hit.

I know what it is dealing with congestive heart failure as that is what took my Mom from us.  She did about like you described Darrel's mother, she would get really low, and then she would rally.  We were in AR with her, and had to take her to the hospital 4 times with those episodes in a 6 weeks time period. Once to Texarkana and three times in her little town. The last time we took her was on a Christmas night.  She passed away on the following New Years morning, after several ups and downs that week.

PS...I hope I did not make that sound like it was this past Christmas night.  It was 19 years ago.  She was only 79.

Adios,

~Janice

Happy birthday, Earl!  And many more!!

And  :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: (that's 3 cheers) to Janet for saying 'NO!'  You go, girl!

And Larry, I am so happy that you seem to know your body...when to stop and when to go!  Good for you!

I have been riding my bike here in the house.  I rode 3 miles yesterday.  But when Ivalou was out and about my back didn't hurt once!  Hopefully this bike riding will help that!  I plan to ride 3 miles at least twice a day.  Maybe 3 times in the future!

My friend in Mexico was taken to the hospital in Mexico the other evening.  They now have a dog and Casper wouldn't leave Rex alone all day.  He isn't a lap dog but was wanting on Rex's lap and would smell his breath and then whine and look so sad.  Later had what Rex said was an 'episode' while he was out with his wife.  He told her he had to go home.  That was the last he remembered.  He woke up in the hospital, not even knowing which hospital.  His doctor spoke English but with an accent but still didn't know.  They wanted to keep him but he dismissed himself because of cost.  He says he is doing fine today!  I skyped with him yesterday and he looked fine.

But I told him if you don't listen to yourself, listen to Casper!  Dogs seem to know!

It is cold here today.  Last I looked it was only 8 degrees and the high today is to get to a whopping 12 degrees.  No sun so far.

Jake's for the heat pump is to come again today to take a reading and if it is okay, then a new board is to be installed in the compressor!  I just know the heat pump will heat this house fine...not at this degree outside though!

Tonight is Wednesday Night Live Bible Study at church.  Love the book of Andy Stanley and we are to see video tonight.

Everyone take care and stay warm!  God Bless You All.

Etta Sue dogs are amazingly accurate, they should have heeded Casper's warning and gone to the hospital. The few times I have had those dizzy spells because of the BPPV ( Bilateral Proxymal Positional Vertigo) in my ears, my dogs would get on the bed and lay with me. When Happy was so sick I laid on the floor and held him in my arms and Bebe snuggled us with us too. They know.

It  was cold here this morning only 30° and the frost was on everything. The sun is out now  46°. Yesterday it was so cold in the house that I couldn't even crochet. I had turned the heat off in the computer room and  forgot that I did that. My Bad!!

Happy Birthday Larry, another day older.

Thanks, Etta Sue!  Saying "no" is getting easier all the time!  ;)

I have heard that dogs sense various illnesses in humans with an uncanny accuracy.  Our little Cookie dog never got on the bed except for a very few times when I felt bad enough to lie down during the day.  Then she would jump up, look into my face, then snuggle as close to me as she could get.  Amazing creatures, dogs.

Beth is eagerly anticipating a package from John in the mail today--then roses on Monday!  Bless that guy, Lord.  He's such a blessing in Beth's life!  :)

Both of our Moms are still hanging on.......We are taking it one day at a time.  But they could both live for some time, so we are expecting the best, but trying to be prepared for the worst.

Happy Wednesday, everybody!

A gorgeous, but cool day, up here in the Near North of Ontario.  Currently -10 C  (32 F)

I just came in from clearing the snow and using the pickax to break up the mound of hard packed snow in front of our rural mailbox. Canada Post doesn't like trudging through snow!!

Hi everyone.  I am really late posting today.  The morning was full of the usual for Wednesday's with coffee, Bible Study, donut shop and then we ate out today with the group.  After resting I went to the Driver's License facility and got my driver's license renewed for another 5 years.  There was a fair group of people ahead of me but they have a nice facility and you get a number and and sit and wait.  It is so much better than it was years ago when we first came to Georgia.  I have to leave for choir in a few minutes.

We are suppose to have snow this evening and into early hours tomorrow but it shouldn't amount to anything significant.

Our daughter spent last night at the ER and this morning they removed (or did something) to a big cyst that had developed on her upper leg.  I expect this will be a tough night for her.  The cyst was giving her a lot of pain.

In the mail today we got a lovely box of fruit from Florida that our friends in Maryland sent for my birthday.  These are called Honey Bell's and are a cross between grapefruit and tangerines.  We had one of them for supper today and they are delicious and very, very juicy.  There were even two bibs in the box to keep off the juice, but that was a bit overdone.  I think there were a dozen of the fruit.  It was a very thoughtful gift and I really appreciated it.  The postman had put them outside our front door and I just happened to see them late this afternoon.

Time to leave for choir.

The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) is pleased to announce that seven outstanding drivers have been named to the 2011-2012 OTA Road Knights Team.

John has made the team.  He went through a speech and interview process, then a full day of media training.  It was a process he thoroughly enjoyed and was flying high as a result.

What a way to cap off a 40 year career in transportation.

I am one very proud wife!

Thanks to everyone for the Happy Birthday wishes for Earl.  I told him now he can say he is "going on 89"!
I made waffles for breakfast, at his request.  He had his usual low sodium Meals on Wheels lunch.  And tonight our daughter here in town took us and also her daughter out to dinner for his birthday.  Mexican food of course!

His three kids in Amarillo and spouses will come Saturday.  They had too much snow over there to contend with today.  Ours did not amount to so much this time.

Janet, we live in Clovis.  It would be nice to meet you too!  It sounds like Beth has a lot to look forward to right now.  I am glad for her that she has a friend like John.
And I am glad that you are finding it easier to say No too.  My mom used to say that a willing horse gets worked to death.  Not calling you a horse though!!

Congratulations to John....Judy that sounds like quite an accomplishment, and I know you are proud of him.

Larry, I do hope that your daughter is improved by now and no new problems to deal with for awhile.

Etta Sue, I hope your friend in Mexico is doing well now.  I would hate to be sick in Mexico - or anything else in Mexico.  Such a dangerous place these days.

Must get to bed, Earl and our dtr are going to Muleshoe in the morning, over in Texas.  They both go to a dermatologist there.  She has a bad case of psoriasis currently, and he has had to see dermatologists for years.  He had many sunburns when he was younger, and is paying for it now.  Skin cancers, etc.
G/night   ~Janice

Larry, those honey bells sound wonderful!  I love fruit, so a gift like that would really be a hit with me, so glad you have such thoughtful friends and are enjoying the gift.  Sorry your daughter is enduring yet another trial, wish for her a speedy recovery.

Beth's gift in the mail yesterday was:  Two movie videos, two sets of DVDs of Joel Osteen, a whole box of M&Ms with pretzel balls in them and a whole box of Hershey bars!!  Oh, yes, and another tee shirt.  This one has a big pink pig on it, looking at a strip of bacon with a frowny face on it.  The pig is saying, "Harry?  Is that you?"  And John told her that is not her Valentine's gifts, those are 'just because I love you' gifts, the Valentines box is to come later, plus roses.  Goodness!  He does love to shower her with gifts!!  Bless his heart.

Janice, Clovis isn't so far away from us.  However it must not be on our way to anywhere we have been as yet, as I don't remember ever going through Clovis.  We will have to change that!

Hi Carol!  How are you?

Well, at least the sun is shining.     And after one more really, really cold night tonight it looks as though the temperatures will start to moderate, at least a little.  And for the next week or so, the only snow in the forecast is possible "snow showers".   :cheer:

Congratulations, John!  You are THE Knight!  Of the Road!

Whew!  It's cold here.  Below zero all night but above zero right now.  I was awaken with bumping thumping noises.  It was on my roof.  I sat up for a few hours praying the roof would not collapse.  Almost like settling noises but louder!  I need to drive and come back from the west and check out that side of the house...seemed like the noise was over the bedroom and the bathroom!  Ah, the joys of the winter of 2011!

Today is my class luncheon.  Kitty is going with me.

Last evening was Wednesday Night Live...a Bible study at church.  It was also pastor Steve's birthday.  His wife brought in a Dairy Queen Ice Cream cake so we all indulged!  Too rich for me!

I had better go and get ready for the luncheon.

And yes, it is to be above freezing Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday!  Maybe all this ice will become a thing of the past!

Judy does that mean he gets to spend more time at home and less time n the road?

There is frost every where this morning, white roofs and white grass.

Well I have to get going to the Fitness Center, I am gaining weight again after losing about 7 lbs I have gained that back now. Grrrrrrr. I don't know how much good it is doing me to exercise if I am going to keep eating too much or not  watching WHAT I eat.  :ticked:

Congratulations to John on being chosen to be a Road Knight!! A well-deserved honor, my friend!!

I have been sitting here waiting for the plumber to show up. He had said he'd be here at 8:30 this morning. Five hours have passed and he is a no-show.

Patience has never been a strong point for me, and the little I have is wearing thin.

As I type I am listening to Christian music..and praying too.

Looks like a glorious, sunny day out there. I hope to get out later for a walk.

No this will not affect his home tome...but it may mean that I will be able to go with him to the occasional event.

Bonnie I understand about patience.... up here it is even slower, they may say today and get to it a week or so later.  Much slower pace.  John even after 15 years still has difficulty with the pace.

I have read all the posts, but won't comment on individual ones.  It is a cold very damp day here today.  Something I have found, most of the cold er experience is a dry cold and is not so biting.  In Toronto it is very damp and feels much colder than it is.  Even Cimi had problems with the cold in Toronto.

I am back from Physio, Thank you Ruth V for the transportation I really appreciate you sis.  Next time we can do lunch.  The therapist is pleased with my progress, but I have to stop pushing so hard to be independent.  Hard when you are mostly alone.

Have a great evening folks and God bless.

Hi everyone.  Again I am a bit late.  We had to make a trip down to help our daughter get the prescriptions she needed filled after the surgery she had to drain the cyst on her leg.  It was apparently related to a yeast infection due to the various antibiotics she has had to take.  She had 4 new prescriptions.  Fortunately, two of them were free at the Publix's supermarket pharmacy but the other two were a bit pricey and one was for only one pill.  I also went to the grocery store before we went down there and got her stocked up so she will eat well for a few days until she is up to doing the shopping for herself.  While we were waiting for two of the prescriptions to be filled Pat and I went to a Paneira Bread Company place for lunch and had a very good tuna salad sandwich, which is one of my favorites on very good, fresh bread.  We then went back tot he pharmacy, got the medicine and went back to her apartment to leave the medicine.  We got back home around 2 pm and both of us were exhausted and still feel that way even after taking a nice nap.  I will have tomorrow to rest up as my schedule is clean until tomorrow evening when we will attend a special senior's Valentine Dinner and performance with our good friends at their church.

Congratulations to John on the very fine honor.  I read the link that Judy posted and it sounds like a unique honor and also a lot of responsibility.  Judy, glad that your physical therapy is going so well but please give it time as you don't want a setback.

Janice, a number of my men friends have to constantly fight skin cancers due to too much sun.  Even though i was raised on a farm I haven't been afflicted with that problem, other than a skin cancer I had on my lip a couple of years ago but it wasn't related to the sun.

Janet, I am sure it brings a smile to all of our faces knowing what John's gifts to Beth must mean to her and do for her mental state.  He obviously cares very deeply for her and understands her plight.

Jeanne, we had snow last night and this morning we awoke to a fairy land of snow covered trees and yards.  Fortunately the streets and walks were fine with no snow on them as they had been warm yesterday and now there is very little trace of the snow as it has mostly melted away today.  Hope you get some warmer weather soon.

Etta Sue, sure hope you have no structural damage to your house.  That would be a very frightening experience. Hope your ice will soon be a thing of the past.

Marilyn, it seems so difficult to lose the weight and so easy to gain it back.  I am sure you will get back to your exercise and eating plan.  I need to follow your example.

Bonnie, isn't it a wonder how people can stay in business by being so lackadaisical about appointment times or calling to let us know they will be delayed.  We have been pretty fortunate to have service people here close to the expected time.

Thank you, Larry and Judy, etc.

I just called the plumber and rescheduled for tomorrow, as Pastor Dennis suggested.

The plumber said he was at my building this morning, but had lost the piece of paper with my buzzer code. He had also mispelled my last name and was looking for Adderly instead of my actual name.

So, he will be here at 9 tomorrow.

A blessing did come out of all this though. I was feeling very, very tired after getting up at 6 am, so I went for a nap. Seems I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow, and I feel soooo good right now.  Praise the Lord!!

I was looking through the earlier posts and noticed the one about a friend whose dog wouldn't leave his side one day. Turns out the gentleman was not feeling well.  My tortoiseshell kitty, Bella, never, ever smells my breath after I've eaten, but will occasionally climb onto my shoulder and sniff my breath. I have learned, from past experience, that I will show symptoms of a virus or cold within a day or two of her doing this.

I know of a client whose daughter is epileptic. She has a service dog who will alert her to a coming seizure.

Bonnie

Oh, I forgot something. I finally met our Pat the other evening, and got to spend time with her, Judy and John. Such wonderful people.

I have been very depressed for some time and really do not know what to do to conquer the problem. The depression is a combination of many many issues of which I do not share as I am so afraid of getting slam dunked when I speak and no help as well.   I guess that explains why I am away.

Congratulations and Belated Happy Birthday's to all.

Have a great evening

An early goodmorning to all.

Our children were shocked:

As many of you also know Mel curls and yesterday being the evening it was almost at the end of the game he fell while trowing the rock, yes his elbow is shattered in 5 different places.  After an E-ray etc etc they put him out to set the elbow but he is now in the hospital awaiting surgery sometime in the next 5 to 7 days.  No more curling for him this season.

It was also Feb 10th 14 years ago that our son-in-law, Daughters husband and granddaughter's father passed away.

Now I am off to bed for some rest.

Dear Lord, I lift up Ruth and Mel at this time. May they especially experience your calming presence, your peace, and joy as Mel endures this hospital stay and upcoming surgery.

I pray also Lord that Ruth will continue to reach out to those who love her, and spend time in both solitary and group prayer, as she copes with depression. May she find strength in your Word and remember that you will never leave her side.

In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.

I'm so saddened to read of Mel's accident.  How I love to watch curling and I often wonder about their skirting about on that ice in shoes!  I will be praying for him and I will be praying for you as well.  Depression is not a nice thing to go through.

Just keep on coming in here and posting when you can my friend.

This has to be short and sweet since I have to leave in a few minutes.

The thumping I heard at my house, Kitty's Bob heard at their house.  It's something about the coldness and the rafters.  They get cold and expand, therefore the noise.  All was fine last night.  But night before last was the coldest night I spent in this house so far!

Our class lunch was great yesterday other than we were seated by the outside walls and most of us got cold...even me!

Ivalou is getting a perm today and I am getting a haircut.  We both need money from the ATM machine and we will be starved by the time the perm is done.  Also need a few items...maybe Dollar General.

Well, I had better get my coat on since I am walking to Ivalou's and driving her car today.

Hi everyone.  I had a nice time at coffee this morning as one of the men (the one I pick up for coffee most days) brought some miniature cinnamon rolls and my wife had made some delicious miniature muffins after I went to bed last night and left them on the counter with a note that I could take and share with my friends, which I did. Both items were very tasty but Pat's muffins were the best.  I have been working at my desk since I got home and will have a quiet day until it is time to pick up our friends and go to the valentine's day dinner and entertainment tonight at their church.  Janet Paschal will be the entertainment and she has a beautiful voice and sings or has sung with the Bill Gaither group.  I am looking forward to a wonderful evening.

Ruth, so sorry to hear that you are experiencing depression and know that can be a very real problem.  Don't neglect getting medical help.  So sorry that Mel had such a terrible break on the ice and know that is not going to help your situation.  It is important that you take care of yourself.

Bonnie, I find that things usually work out for the best even though we may not understand or appreciate what is happening at the time.  It sounds like you got the situation worked out and I do hope the maintenance person comes today.

Etta Sue, sounds like you and Ivalou will have a good time and as Pat says be "bootiful" when you get home.  Pat, my mother used to say that as well.

Not nice to read of Pat's tongue.  I pray that it won't be too painful a procedure.

Larry when I read about the problem with Pat's tongue I couldn't help but remember Janet and the problems she is still having even after her surgery.

I have been to the Fitness center and am back home watching the news about Egypt. I sure hope they stay at peace with Israel, we are commanded in God's word to pray for Israel.

Hi Pat we haven't seen you for awhile? How is the shoulder doing?

I am still working on Learning my Photoshop program, I keep switching back and forth between PSP and PS, I am also doing some crocheting, making potholders. I might just  do some knitting, I copied a simple pattern  from S&F for a shawl, I am thinking of doing that too.

Larry I too was reminded of the time Janet has had with her tongue, I pray pat turns out better.  Yes I missed saying Happy Birthday as well.  Happy Birthday  (belated) Larry.

Marilyn knitting is a good productive way to put in time.  I have several projects to do, but am held back for a while with my shoulder.

Etta Sue I am glad you are able to get out and around again.  Having those noises at night can get spooky can't they!  There are times I am sure there is an animal in our attic....thing is there is no way one could get up there as there are no close trees or posts.

John should be home late tomorrow, so that will be nice.

I thought I posted this morning when I came in and read; but it seems I didn't!  Oops!

Ruth, my thoughts and prayers are with you.  Depression is a very hard thing with which to contend.  I have had a bout or two  with it, and will never forget how black things looked.  I just wanted to go to sleep and not have to deal with things.  But God.........  We are so blessed to have a God who understands every trial we face. and He has the answer to every problem.  Try to rest in His loving arms and trust Him until this too passes.  Hugs to you, dear one.  I wish we could sit down and have a nice visit.  So sorry about Mel's elbow.  :'(  BIG ouchie!  May he receive supernaturally fast healing.  Give him a hug from me and wish him the best.

Hi there, Pat!  Good to have you pop in!  Hugs to you.

Larry, those muffins and mini cinnis sound so good!  Good I wasn't there to be tempted, as I am still being very careful what I eat.  I will eat the dessert at the banquet tomorrow night, though.  ;)  And Happy Birthday, whenever it is!! :)

I was also told of 2 other first cousins that have serious situations as well.  One is at present in the Orangeville Hospital and has been for a week almost and the other is driving to a Toronto Hospital for tests.  By the way these are cousins on Mel's side.   Time to shut the door.   Nite

Etta Sue,  Thank you! I am glad you got such  a good deal on the book! Is it the pink one by Jean E. Syswerda? I led a class using that one. (I did find a couple mistakes in it)

Larry, Marilyn, Gord, Pat and anyone I have forgotten, thank you for welcoming me.

I am snowed in, in TN, have been all week, but have a warm house, plenty to eat, my Bible, camera, phone, and Internet! So blessed!
Someone did clear my porch and steps enough yesterday for me to take out trash, get mail, take a few pictures and get my grand babies Valentine cards in the mail box. :) I do not know who cleared the snow and ice, but thanking God!

I have been cooking a lot. Made 5 different kinds of oatmeal cookies the last 2 days, just kept adding things to the batter, raisins, cranberries, nuts, chocolate chips, coconut, and orange juice. I will share with everyone in Sunday School Sunday.

Larry, I have read that those bell fruit things are the best in the world! And only available a few weeks out of the year. Glad you got to enjoy them!

There is a very good christian radio station here with music and good teaching. (No adds, supported completely by listeners.) I earned/won a free book today; Slave, by John McArthur.

So many prayer needs mentioned, I am lifting all of you and everyone around you in prayer.

Hi everyone.  Today is actually my birthday but I have been having a great time with pre-birthday events like our celebration with Stacey when she was here where we could celebrate both birthdays since she won't be with us today.  The men at coffee yesterday recognized my birthday and sang Happy Birthday.  On Wednesday night the choir sang Happy Birthday to me.  Today my wife gave me a new white shirt and a nice gift card from Barnes & Noble that I can use online to purchase books for my ebook reader.  She had previously given me a gift card for McDonald's, which is very handy.

We had a lovely time last evening with the Valentine Dinner at our friend's church.  There were about 700 seniors there as they had 89 tables and each table had 8 people.  There was a lot of red in the clothing.  The food was delicious and Janet Paschal sang beautifully and seemed to be such a nice person.  It was a special evening.

Vapor, I looked at the website of the company selling the Honey Bells and they are all sold out for this year and taking orders for next year already.  They are rather pricey but they are certainly good.  It sounds like you all had a lot more snow and colder temps than we had down here.  Our snow didn't last even 24 hours.

Hope this is a good day for everyone who stops by today.  I know I am going to enjoy this beautiful day that God has allowed me to have and try to stay in the moment.

Happy Birthday, Larry, today!!  You sure get around.  I read about your birthday on FaceBook!

Vapor ~ I don't know which book I was talking about but I am in two studies right now.  One book by Max Lucado and the other is by Andy Stanley.  Both are great!  Where in Tennessee are you?

Well, doom and gloom...I think we got more snow last night and wind.  My path to the garage is blown shut!  I can't get out without walking through a foot of snow!  So since this doom and gloom of being a jurist on Monday is hanging over my head and knowing that if the trial is still on and I HAVE to be there before 8am Monday morning, I called Tony for him to bring his snow blower up and opened up the path again.  This winter I would rather rely on him than the weather man saying it is suppose to melt all of this snow and ice by Monday afternoon!!  (Me being a worrier is new to me.  I don't like it.)

I will be soooo glad to see the winter of 2011 over!

Not planning on doing much today.  I am reading a book on Kindle and it is getting soooo good!  An inspirational romance.  Happily Ever After by Susan Mae Warren...in case anyone wants to find it.  It is a long book since I have been reading it for a week and just now a little over half way done!  But it is getting good.

And since our trip to the hair dresser yesterday, I now have to get used to seeing Ivalou with curly hair.  I like her in curly hair but she was getting so she couldn't comb it right...so she went with straight hair for awhile.  She has straight, thick coarse hair.  I have curly, thick fine hair.  And we are sisters!

It is sunny here today...already 30 degrees.  The solar system has been running some today.  I got a call from Jake's and they are to come Wednesday morning and fix the heat pump!  I am thinking that when the heat pump is finally fixed it will mean warmer weather!

Hello friends.  This has been quite a day for me.  Got a call about 7 this morning that my Mom was unresponsive, they couldn't wake her up.  So I showered, dressed and went to the care home, where I spent the next five hours.  They had given her glucose under her tongue, but everything was dropping, sugar, blood pressure, etc.  Jeanie and her son Lance came, we tried talking to Mom, no response for a long time, then she began to respond a little bit.  Along about 11:00, they checked her sugar again, and it was 167!  And her BP and oxygen saturation were nearly perfect!  So I think she may stay here a while.

Tonight her sugar is 305!  Way too high, but they didn't want to give her any insulin unless they can get her to eat a little bit.

We are dressed and ready to go to our Valentine banquet, but I will have my cell phone at hand, just in case.  Darrel has looked forward to tonight for weeks, and I see no reason to disappoint him.  They know to call me if any change.

Sorry to not address everyone, no time.  Back tomorrow, I hope.

Hi Vapor!  I'm so happy that you figured out about posting and also getting your profile photo (avatar) in place!  Just keep posting and posting and the more you do it, the better you become.  It will become like second nature.

Happy Birthday, Larry!!!

What radio station were you listening to, Vapor that you won a book?  bbnradio.org is a good one with no advertisements.

Janet, what a day you had!  I'm so happy that your mother rallied.  Please know that I'm praying for you and the family circle.

I am all ready for church.  I will find out soon if I have to go or not to jury duty.  I cleaned out my purse this morning...no nail files, no lotions, no lethal weapons.  I don't know what else they might consider a problem but you can't take those things in a court house today!

It is suppose to get up in the 40's today.  It wasn't below freezing all night but I can't see that it has melted any ice around here.  I can see the edge of my deck but there is still 4 inches of ice on it!

I called Tony and he opened my path to the garage again for me.  Then we talked and talked and talked some more.  Great time with him.

We may go to a funeral visiting after eating today.  And Small Groups is tonight.

What a great challenge too!

Even those who are not photographically inclined, should see something RED over the next few days to photograph and enter!  ;)

Marilyn, you asked about my arm (at least I think it was you).

It's doing pretty well most of the time.  If someone had said when I injured it that it would take 15 months to heal, I would have thought that they were joking but that's about the time it took to start to feel better.  I still can't lift it to put cups and plates up into the cupboard, etc.  And I vacuum with my left arm.  ;)

Yes Pat it was me that asked. I am glad to hear that it ifs finally getting better, Maybe if you keep exercising it you will eventually be able to reach those cupboard shelves. I am still working on exercising my  thumb and still unable to reach  the ring finger but I can now Crochet. I couldn't do that before without pain. I did have to  file down my  fingernails to play my Native American Flute, and there is some pain in my thumb if I am  playing for a long time.

I'm crocheting today, Marilyn.  My daughter-in-law's niece had a baby girl.  This is the wedding that I took the wedding photos of last February.  She (bride--Nicole) has always called me "Grandma Scott" and now I'm "Great Grandma Scott!".  HAHAHA!

Hi everyone.  It is 63 degrees here today and really nice.  We went to church this morning but passed on the Senior Valentine's Banquet.  I am feeling so weary today that it is a struggle to do anything.  We ate a bite of lunch and then I came home and rested for several hours but really don't feel at all rested.  Settled in my easy chair for the rest of the afternoon and evening.

Pat, nice to see that your shoulder is feeling better.  Just continue to treat it kindly.

Janet, it is amazing how people can revive from seemingly impossible situations.  So glad your mother has responded.  I experienced something very similar with my father when it didn't appear he could recover and the next morning he was sitting in his wheelchair having breakfast.  He had been in very severe heart failure.

JOhn has headed out on the road.  A short turnaround, and as a result no log book reset.  He will (thankfully) be staying in Ontario, log book rules are a little different.  He is tired so he will be stopping in a few hours for rest..  17 hours at home and he still took the time to wash floors for me!!!

He thanks everyone for the congratulations on his Road Knight position.

My cousin & wife (plus their barky little dog) left yesterday.  I wish that she wouldn't bring the dog as the high pitch yapping just jars Don's hearing to no end.  Otherwise, we always have a wonderful visit.  We took them on hikes and a drive to a nearby lake and so forth then had to take naps after they left.

Ruth:  So sorry about Mel having his elbow fractured - one son had that happen while they were climbing on him in Boy Scouts & he had to have surgery.  I couldn't walk on ice with smooth sole shoes and I hope Mel can get back to his favorite sport soon.  Hugs to you.

Pat:  How wonderful to read that your shoulder has improved so much.  It sure has been a long time and all the moving in that time frame as well.  You couldn't have been busier if you tried!  Take care of that shoulder.
