Morning Devotional...Truly, it's time for us to stop looking for the living among the dead. It's time for us to stop wandering around in the cemetery of sin, sickness and failure and to step into resurrection life!
As a resurrected creature, you're no accident going somewhere to happen. Your life isn't just a loose web of events and circumstances. God has specific plans for you.
Maybe He intends for you to have the greatest healing ministry of this century. Or perhaps He wants to turn you into a tremendous preacher. Maybe He has a revelation prepared for you that will enable you to bless the whole world. But you'll never know what He has in store for you until you put your attention on Him.
That's why the devil works hard to keep you focusing on the problems of life. That's why he tries to keep your attention turned away from the living Word of God. He doesn't want you to know you're full of the resurrection life of Jesus. In fact, the prospect of it terrifies him.
Why? Because once you truly understand that you have the life of God inside you, you'll begin to act just like Jesus did. You'll lay hands on the sick and they'll recover. You'll cast out demons. You'll preach the gospel to every creature.
In short, you'll be just what God intended you to be. You'll be the Body of Christ on the earth.
Don't let Satan bind you with the grave clothes of yesterday's sin and defeat. You're not dead anymore. You've been raised with Jesus. Come out from the tombs and start living resurrection life! [/color]
Scripture Study: Acts 17:16-34
Hi Folks!
Hope you all have a great week ahead.
Thanks Janet for getting us started in yet another week on CP!
Here's one we haven't listened to for a long time...
Grace! 'Tis a Charming Sound (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/gracetisacharmingsound.mp3)
(Click to hear music)
Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;)
Ephesians 2:5
Author: Philip Doddridge, 1702-1751; 1, 3
A. M Toplady, 1740-1778, 2, 4, 5
Musician: Ira D. Sankey, 1840-1908
Grace! 'tis a charming sound,
Harmonious to the ear;
Heav'n with the echo shall resound,
And all the earth shall hear.
Refrain:
Saved by grace alone! this is all my plea:
Jesus died for sinful men, and Jesus died for me.
Grace first contrived a way
To save rebellious man;
And all the steps that grace display,
Which drew the wondrous plan.
Grace first inscribed my name
In God's eternal book;
'Twas grace that gave me to the Lamb,
Who all my sorrows took.
Grace turned my wand'ring feet
To tread the heav'nly road;
And new supplies each hour I meet,
While pressing on to God.
Grace taught my soul to pray,
And made my eyes o'erflow;
'Tis grace has kept me to this day,
And will not let me go.
O let Thy grace inspire
My soul with strength divine!
May all my pow'rs to Thee aspire,
And all my days be Thine.

Thanks Janet for the devotional, I would sure be interested to see what you had to say about dancing in church.
Samantha what my pastor objected to was the use of a prop. Said the prop is not biblical ie. my scarf. I showed him all kinds of scripture to do with banners etc. and he still says it is not biblical. He said it has to do with the prophetic ministry. :o
I have made a pot of beans for my supper and had a nice salad for dinner just a few minutes ago. Now I am going to look up some Photoshop tutorials and learn how to use Photoshop might as well make use of my time off doing something productive
TTYL.
Hi Everyone,
Cold and busy here in the Land of the Rising Sun! Thanks, Janet for the devotional.
Marilyn, just a note, about your desire to worship in dance and banner/scarf waving. If you want to worship God that way, who's gonna interfere with you if you do that in the privacy of your home or on a lonely hilltop?
But in defense of your Pastor, God's made him the shepherd of that flock, and he's responsible to make sure worship glorifies God, not just in it's outward display, but that it is also peaceful, orderly, and decent. Oh, let me add, SAFE. Maybe that would fall under orderly?
I had to step in a couple of times when a member of our church was dancing in a spinning kind of way. All well and good, until she began to bump into things and others! :D And on another occasion, the little ones of our church were really having a great time with banners during our very lively worship time. I again had to be the bad guy and ask that the banners be put away, as I could see the children were more interested in trying to wave the banners in the faces of their friends and even began to interfere with the worship leader, by bannering him!
So while I know how you feel in wanting to be expressive during worship, I do understand your pastor's position, too. He guides the corporate worship, in the way he feels God is guiding him. :bible:
You can worship HIM however you want in your private worship time, and I encourage you to do just that! Shout and dance and wave unto Him with every ounce of your being!
:pine: :bananadance:  :em:
Even though I was ordained amongst the "chosen frozen," I fully agree with Kevin. If dancing is truly an expression of the whole being - an expression of joy, of praise, etc. - then it is indeed good, as long as it doesn't interfere with other's worship.
Samantha - you want so much to worship God, and you therefore envy those who let loose and dance, etc. Remember, though, that God looks on the heart, and if your heart is worshipping Him, He receives it.
By the way, Kevin - it's wonderful indeed to see you in here!
Yes Kevin I agree with Al it is GOOD to see you here again. Thank you both for your input. In defense of my Pastor he did say that I was not released to do that yet. He did not mind my dancing, in fact he likes the dancing part and I was dancing in the back of the church where there is plenty of room and not get in anyone's way. We have a big space between the last set of chairs and the sound booth. He feels that some of the congregation may not be ready for that yet.
Keith and Colin: Go to separate corners and don't come out until you can hug each other......
reminds me of our boys.
Larry: All of a sudden, you have extended family. I think it is just lovely. Take care and rest on these long drives. Staying over is a good idea.
I picked up a friend and met another and the three of us had coffee and chatted for almost three hours. So much sad news on health problems. It just feels good to meet and talk about things.
Had a haircut and that friend who cuts my hair is widowed and has a lot going on as well - I came home exhausted from the visiting. Don is going to BBQ flank steak and I have a squash ready to put in the microwave. We have the flag out today.
Today is a day that started off on the wrong foot, and has not changed. Things are going much better.
We have a wet, cold damp yucky day out today. I will be glad at this point to see the ground frozen and some white stuff on top. It is so muddy out.
Janet thank you for the devotional.
I need to run, Will be back tomorrow.
What's your favourite scripture verse?
I have many but one of mine is:Phil. 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
1 Timothy 1:7 "For God did not give you a spirit of fear but one of Power, Love and a sound and disciplined mind."
Phil. 4:8
Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things.
Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
This has to be my favorite verse because over the last several years I have gone through some really dark and desolate valleys. There were times when others who were/are close to me weren't able to make it through what we were going through, but I kept my eyes upward and today I am a stronger person, not because of anything I have done, but because Christ has moved in my life.
God bless you all
Heather
2 Cor. 4:6 But God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ.
That devotional really spoke to me. I have had a rough 6-12 months with work and have been so hung up on that that I have forgotten that there are more important things to life. MAny times this year I have turned to the lord in prayer and, I believe, to some extent they have been answered (even down to unexplained things happening at work - I work in IT and when things suddenly start working where before they didnt then you have to ask questions....))
I am hoping that, as this year comes to an end, I will again be able to focus outside of work into the wider life and see just what god wants of me. I am sure photography has a part to play - I just need to put my work in to his hands and live my life for him
Hi everyone.
John 3:16 is still my favorite verse: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
I have a meeting to attend this morning but nothing else on the schedule for the day except to work on the church website. I am considering a major overhaul of the site. It will be a lot of work and perhaps more than I can accomplish. I checked the statistics on the site for the past 12 month period and the site had had over 30,600 visitors and 73,000 pageviews. It had over 418,000 total hits. We need to be sure we have something worthwhile to see on the website and that the information is up-to-date. The previous webmaster has done a good job but I think it needs a revamp and felt that when I gave the job up some months ago. This is going to be quite a challenge.
Judy, sorry to read that you didn't have a good day. Hope today will be much better.
Carol, I am so happy to have my family back together again and to have the opportunity to see these great grandchildren. It sounds like you were on a visiting binge but sure you enjoyed it. Hope your jaws have recovered. :)
Janet, thanks for the devotional for this week. I know about those empty refrigerator meals but that doesn't waste food.
Samantha, hope the toothache is gone.
Welcome RobW.
thats some hit rate on your website John. I am fairly sure the small one I run for our church (http://www.parkmethodistonline.org.uk/) get no hits... What is your website - would love to see what others do for their church to try to see what I can do with ours.
Good Morning Still raining here. I have had a slight back problem yesterday and Iams till having a few twinges today. But did my workout at Curves anyway. I don't have much on my agenda for today. Going to work for just a little bit this morning to clean up the kitchen and fold some laundry. This lady (Fran) want to hold on to me as she will be having some hand surgery soon, she sees the neurologist again next month. So she is trying to give me some more work for the reason.
Larry that sure is a lot of hits to your church website. I think you posted the link some time ago but would you please post it again.
Rob I pray that you will be able to focus on the things that are important to you. Your family, photography etc.
Hi Heather good to see you posting again. Hi everyone whom I have not mentioned. You are being thought of and prayed for.
Gotta go now.
Good Morning Everyone!
I'm working overtime on Photography Cafe website so I'm scarce in here.
Sawwwy...
Rob, so good to see you posting.
It was nice to see the pictures of your church on their website.

Where is this website, Rob? Did John post a link? I must have missed it.

Whew! I went with Ivalou for her blood work, then shopped and ate lunch. When I got home, I decided to go to Lapel to the ATM and fill the car with gas. It wouldn't start. Dead battery. I called my brother to see if I could borrow his Quick Start...I am getting one of those!!! He was gone from home but told me where it was so I walked over and got it. Really handy thing. Put the clamps on the battery. Turn the quick start ON. Start your car. Turn the quick start OFF. Take off the clamps. Instantly!! No waiting for the battery to charge.
So I then drove to Pendleton. The battery checked out fine. The alternator checked out fine. But I have had to jump the battery three times in two weeks. He did another test and said I have a short somewhere in the electrical system. So Thursday I am taking it to get that figured out at an auto electrical place!!
I met one of the members of the photo guild at a car dealership so she could leave her car. We ate at Panera Bread and then to guild. So many beautiful pictures! Remarkable how many great pictures this little club takes.
Then home.
Today? Euchre! And it is bright and sunny...unlike driving home last night in a heavy rain!
My favorite verse...well, many verses. Matthew 6:9-13
9"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

It's lovely to see these scriptures in here of our favourite verses!
Thanks for sharing.
Anymore?
1Thessalonians 5:23 May the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely. May your whole spirit, and body be found sound and blameless at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it.
Just a wee reminder folks!
We have new members who are posting their intros here on the site. Could we all remember to check this area and let these new folks know how welcome they are?
Thanks so much.
Here's a link to that section...

And if you see a little "New" icon that looks like this, (https://www.christianphotographers.com/community/Themes/neptune11/images/english/new.gif)
then there's a new post since you were there last and it would be nice to click on the little icon and you'll be taken to the last post you saw. Maybe you never were there before so please post a welcome message.
Thanks so much.
I just received this in an email and thought it might interest some of you...
"If...then..."
2 Chronicles 7:14-23 The vast majority of God's promises are
CONDITIONAL, meaning only
"If" you meet the conditions of the promise, will the promise then be fulfilled in your life. Typically, there is a
"God part" and an
"our part" associated with the promises of God.
"IF" we do the
"our part," God will do
"His part." Consider the following examples:
"Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established" (Proverbs 16:3).
"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will fulfill the desires or your heart" (Psalm 37:4).
Do you see it?
"IF" you
"commit your works to the Lord,"
THEN, AND ONLY THEN, God's plans will be established in your life.
"IF" you
"delight yourself in the Lord,"
THEN, AND ONLY THEN, will God "fulfill the desires of your heart."
Way, WAY to often over the years I've heard people lay claim to a promise of God without any intention of doing the
"our part" to make that promise come true. Then, as time passes and the promise remains unrealized, that person becomes dissappointed or discouraged, thinking God hasn't come through for them.
In reality, they simply didn't understand the
CONDITIONAL nature of the promise in the first place.
:)Good evening everyone. My toothache is gone, because the tooth is gone. Thanks to all who prayed for me, it was only the 3rd tooth pulled by a dentist and the first one I was awake for (weird sounds to listen to) I'm just a big baby when it comes to stuff like that.
Cooking supper, gotta go check on it.
Have a great night y'all!
Later
Samantha
Of course, you can see my favorite verse below my post. Joshua 24:15
Samantha, I have never enjoyed going to the dentist either. I read once that of all the various careers in the world, being a dentist is the most disliked by people and the suicide rate by dentists is one of the highest.
Dentists. YIKES!!

:) Well I know that you all think that my wife and I must have left the country well we did and also we have been very busy since we got back home.
We have two beautiful grandchildren one girl and one boy. The girls name is Teaghan and she was born on the 20th. of Sept. she was 8-00lbs. and she was 21" long and she is very healthy. Our boy was born on the 31st of Oct. which is our anniversary ;D now we ask that you pray for him as he has a problem in his vertibre but it is not as serious as they thought. His name is Kaeden and he was a very big boy at birth he was 9lbs 8-5ozs and 21" long and both babies were c.sections but the last one went 13 hours of labour before they decided to do that. God has been so good to my daughter and her husband as they were in a wonderful hospital which is hooked up to a university and it is called McMaster hospital and they have a special unit for children.
I have read most of the last weeks posts and I have missed being on here I hope that I can spend a little more time on here.
Pat: How are you looking after yourselve hope that you are not doing to much.
Judy B. I do hope that you keep that cold weather up there as I just came back from some very warm weather. Say hi to John and also to his Mum.
May the Lord richly Bless you all Gord.
Gord, it's so good to see you here. I've wondered where you were and now that I read about the two grandchildren, well, it's understandable. I'm sorry about Kaeden. We'll definitely be keeping that wee one in our prayers.
:) Pat: I love your picture that you have on the site you look so very happy. Was this the one that was taken at the Guelph Conference Grounds?
Have you talked to Jim Clifton lately? I have not heard from him for a while. God bless and Good night. Gord <3
I will try again to post. The first time I had a nice long post hit the post button and got the can not find the page message.
the sun is shining right now and it may just possibly be a nice day after all.
Not much on my schedule today. Going to work for an hour or so after Tia Chi.
My back is not as sore as i was yesterday but still hurts a little bit. However now I have noticed that my wrist bone on my right wrist is swollen. Getting old sure is not fun.
The MckVille Senior Center is giving their Thanksgiving dinner today at noon. I called to sign up yesterday as you have to sign up in advance. After that I may go help someone clean out the garage that is in such a big mess you can barely walk through. It depends on how my back feels.
Larry it is so nice that you have reconciled with your family. I wish my 4 older kids would reconcile with Gilbert and I. I don't see that anytime in the near future though. Gilbert doesn't want anything to do with them. Hurt sure goes deep in families doesn't it? I wish forgiveness was just as deep.
Well lets see if this one will post.

I don't have much time. First, I couldn't get on CP. Was it down or was it me?
Leaving in less than an hour to go with Ivalou to the cardiologist. Hope she doesn't have to have any extensive tests ran. I am sure today will be a consolation appointment. Is that the word I want...consolation...when he just talks to you?
I am beginning to wonder about Etta Sue. I forget so many things lately or can't figure things out like I used to do.
God Bless everyone on CP, your families, your friends and your homes.(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)

Etta Sue I think meant to say consultation to consult with the Doctor not consolation to console the doctor or have the Dr,. console here. Hey we are all forgetting a few things. What I don't like is looking all over for something that I know where I put it like in plain site and it isn't there. Like yesterday I was looking for the insole for my shoes that I removed to replace with my orthotics. They had fallen behind something. Drove me nuts trying to find them.
Hi everyone. We attended Bible study with the pastor this morning and we are studying the Lord's Prayer. We had a good turnout and a good study period. As usual, we then went to the donut shop with about 10 others and enjoyed a time of visiting together. I usually have choir practice on Wednesday evening but this week it has been rescheduled to tomorrow night and will be 2 hours in length. We have missed several practices and we need some extra practice to prepare our Christmas Cantata.
Rob, the website is www.wpcsnellville.org. I have just taken this site back and there is quite a bit of work that needs to be done but we are thinking of a total redesign so won't try to do much until I can have some meetings and get some direction. However, I will soon try to eliminate that blank column on the right hand side of the home page. The previous webmaster put that in to avoid scrolling on smaller monitors but I think it looks really strange.
Marilyn, I think you may have the wrong impression in that I have never been in a bad relationship with any of the members of my family. It was my son and his daughter and my son and his sister, although they were always on speaking terms. I just hope all that is in the past. Hope you enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner today.
Etta Sue, sure hope that Ivalou gets a good report from the doctor.
Welcome back Gord. I think the last posting I remember from you was when the new grandchildren were either on the way or the first one had been born.
Samanta, glad you are no longer having the tooth pain. I think my wife is getting ready for some serious dental work as has a very sensitive tooth. She has taken an antibiotic but that doesn't seem to have solved the problem.
Pat, that was a good Bible lesson. Sometimes we only see what we want to see and not what is actually said.
I feel an afternoon nap coming on. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Larry I think you misunderstood me. I didn't mean to imply that there had been a problem between you and your hcildren or grandchildren. Although I ave had with mine.
Hi Everyone!
I'm waiting to hear from Andrew and Terena to see if I can invited myself over for supper! Great to be a grandma sometimes but if it isn't suitable tonight for them, that's ok too.
Well, I have been blessed today. We went over to the senior center for the annual Rotary Club Thanksgiving lunch. We had entertainment from a local music adademy, and they were pretty good. They had one girl who played a Bach piece wonderfully, though it was very difficult, and then she directed a little choral group - pretty talented girl!
Hi Gord. I haven't heard from Jim either. I didn't see your favourite verse! C'mon now lets see which it is! Oh and yes we are praying.
I have a difficult conversation coming up with someone, I am asking for prayer concerning it.
I took time yesterday to change my room around. The way it was the early morning sun shone right into our eyes, so a change was in order. It seems there is more room this way as well.
Tomorrow is a day out. We look forward to getting out to the mall, and I have a few Christmas gifts to get while I am at Wal-Mart. Slowly one gifr at a time and I will be ready.
I mentioned last week on Monday that Dana got into a porcupine. We got rid of nearly all the quills and the vet finished the job. What we didn't know at the time there were also quills in her paw. She started limping on Wednesday, so Thursday Kassie and I pulled 4 quills out of her paw and thought we had them all. She has been running three legged, and today we went to it and fwlt for more. Kass pulled another two. Her paw is swollen, and the vet said to wait they will come out. Well today she was again so patient, no growling or complainingjust patiently waiting. I wonder if we are as patient when the Lord is trying to remove some "quills" from our lives?
Well I am heading to bed early tonight. I have had a quiet day got laundy and ironing done. So Nite all and God bless.
This afternoon a friend and I went walking on the Hammond trail and I took a bunch of photos. Going to church in a little bit.
Lovely to read your posts. I'm just home from Andrew and Terena's home and we had a lovely supper.
:) Hi to all. We are still very busy with the grandkids.
Judy B. One of my favourite verses is Romans 6-23 and Phil 4-13 and I think you new that.
I was at a clinic study fir diabeties today and it was very informative and I hope that I can use the info that they gave me and also get used to the proper amounts of food to eat. I would ask you all to pray about this for me.
Could you all please continue to pray for my wife Noreen as she is still having some very bad days and not able to do to much.
God bless you all Gord. :coffee:
Hi everyone. We finally had a little bit of rain, not sure on the amount but did here it raining during the middle of the night. It has also turned much colder this morning and I think the rain is over.
Marilyn, sorry I misunderstood what you had written. Hope I didn't come across grouchy since I just wanted to clarify the situation.
Judy, sometimes it is very nice to move things around. I think it gives us a new perspective. We don't do that very often in our small house but can on occasion.
Gord, hope you are able to apply what you learned at the diabetes session.
Pat, hope you got to spend the evening with your family and enjoy those grandchildren.
Al, the little girl sounds like a natural. There was a video circulating not too long ago of a little child who played the piano beautifully and loved to perform. I also saw another one on a little boy who seems to be a golf natural.
My schedule is pretty clear today until choir practice tonight. Think our grandson will stop by later today to pick up a keyboard, mouse and speakers for a computer he just acquired.

Good morning.
Ivalou has to have a echogram on her heart and an ultrasound on her heart next Monday. Then the Monday after Thanksgiving she spends the night and has the sleep apnea test. Since she didn't realize that her heart was beating 120 times per minute during the EKG, they want to see if she has any damage to her heart. But the coumadin and beta blocker will prevent further damage if there is. And Marilyn, you are right. Consultation with the doctor!!! A Senior Moment. I knew consolation didn't look or sound right but I just couldn't think of the right word! Thanks. I think this with Ivalou is bothering me more than my two cancers!!
Barb, my SIL, is having a bone marrow test today. Her iron is okay but she is anemic. They tried the test ast week but she probably whined because it hurt. So they are putting her out today.
Ivalou and I got my car to the auto electric place this morning. I did remember that sometimes my A/C quits on it's own and it doesn't work at all if the fan control is on 3. Kitty said she could take me back to pick it up today or tomorrow. She's a sweetie. Ivalou is going to the doctor with our 95 year old neighbor today. Tomorrow she will be working at church to prepare the funeral dinner for our friend, Betty's, son.
Busy. Busy. Busy!
And what a difference a day makes. Yesterday we were 20° above normal...toady 8° below normal with a terrific wind. Brrrr! ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

Nice to see you again, Gord.
Lovely baby pics in the email you sent.
If you had read back in this topic, we had asked everyone to write out their favourite scripture verse.
I have read all the posts and compared weather....we are having the usual rain, rain, rain......once or twice it has stopped!
My daughter and I had a flu shot two weeks ago and have been ill ever since. Talked to others who have shared the same fate. Time to rethink the process!! This is the first time it has had that sort of effect and never knew so many who suffered the same way. Could they be trying research on us??
Larry, an interesting (to me) thing about the recent rain in your state is that many religions gathered together to pray and appeal to God for rain. It was on CNN the day before with an interview of a Rabbi, etc. A short time later, rain! We are encouraged to pray for our serious needs...nice that people are finally reading Matthew 7:7 If rain dances work, why not prayer ;)
Time to go. Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
"Faith slips quietly into our hearts and simply says...believe what you do not see."
Not much is new here today, It has been raining off an on all day. I worked for two hours this morning. Came home, cleaned my kitchen after doing a load of laundry.
I posted some photos that I took yesterday on my walk with my friend Eleanor along the Hammond trail yesterday. I posted 5 then added 2 more after Pat posted a comment. this is the same lady that I went to her church and last Saturday night and danced.
Larry is it so good that Georgia is getting a little rain. I hope it rains a lot more.
That's all folks.
My friend Margery fell off the bottom stair step step at home today, fractuted her arm, now I'm looking after her, She needs some prayer to protect her from accidents, she's always in the wars, broken this, and fractured that, you name it she can break it, Michael. :snowman:
I'm praying Michael.
I have been away for a few days but I do enjoy reading all of your comments. About dancing during a church service I can say we are the frozen ones as well and both of us find that the dancing is distracting but neither do we need to return to that church again no harm done.
It has been wet and tonight we are to get wet snow I really do not like that idea. But sunday is to be sunny and warm the best day all week I think.
We had a couple of appointments this morning and yet another tomorrow all job related. It is a real bother just let me drive my school bus down the road and forget all the meetings .
Last weekend the fan on our furnace went a little bill the repairman did a tempory fix on sunday but it lasted long enough to warm the house then to help the repairman on monday Mel went to the supply depot picked up a new fan and had it here for the repairman to replace on his way home from work. Now we are cozy.
Please remember my cousin as he is in the hospital with only 17% kidney function he is 80 yrs young, we do not want to loose him yet but he is ready if the Lord calls.
God Bless Ruth
Coming out of the corner to say "hi" to everyone...
Marilyn~I think you started something with all your cleaning ... yesterday I got the idea and started with the kitchen ... Deep cleaned everything and that took most of the morning, so I only got the dining and living rooms done after that. Then vacuumed and "thought about" washing the curtains and maybe getting some new drapes for one room.... That's as far as I got yesterday! :D Today I had another appointment with the doctor, so left our neighborhood Bible study early.
The doctor sent me for more chest Xrays and another test that I forgot the name of, but it measures lung capacity I think. :-\ (I had to breathe into a tube, rest and take ibuteral and then breathe into the tube again.) He says there could be many reasons for my chronic cough but these tests have shown none of them. The esophogram did indicate that my "swallower" isn't working correctly -- weak muscles in the throat. He is concerned that the cough is becoming worse so is sending me to an ENT to see if there might be an obstruction in the throat.
At least we know there's no lung disease, nor tumors or scarring from infections, etc. The doctor said "I know this is making you miserable." I replied, "Yes, and everyone around me as well!" I have to keep saying "I'm not sick, just have a tickle in my throat that makes me cough a lot.!" :-[ TMI but some people were wondering.
Liz~I got the flu shot and have not had any symptoms... never have, as long as I have been doing this. :-\ I used to be a substitute teacher and I'd get the flu shots so I could work when the teachers were out sick. :-\
Etta Sue~I know how concerned you are about Ivalou ... yes, it does seem we worry more about others, especially ones close to us, than ourselves. Wonder why that is. Maybe because there's not much we can do about another to "make it all better." We can always pray, though, and that's the most important thing!
Michael, I'll be praying for Margery too.
:coffee: I am not having coffee but I am having a nice cup of tea.
It has been a busy day today.Got up and went to the mission that I do V.O.L. work at inthe food bank. It was very busy today and the 3 hours that I was there it went so fast.
Then I went home and picked up the wife for her physio app. Later in the afternoon we both went to the Y.M.C.A. to work out and my wife goes to the pool as she cannot go to the gymn. I go there and enjoy it very much and the diabetes clinic people want me to go as much as possible . Sowe spent close to two hours and always feel better when you leave. My wife feels so good when she is in the water and helps her back so much but only for a short time.
It is so good to read the post's. God bless you all.
Colin where are you. Come back with all your beautiful poems.
Good night Gord. :)
Hi everyone. I think a touch of winter has reached Georgia as it is really chilly this morning. I will leave in about 10 minutes to go to the local senior center for our Friday morning coffee. Then I have a clear schedule for the rest of the day as far as I know.
Yesterday turned out totally different than I had thought when I posted early yesterday morning. While I was at coffee Pat called and said our daughter was down in her back and wasn't able to work and needed to come out and see the chiropractor. So I headed downtown, picked her up and got her to her appointment. Then we came to the house for a couple of hours and then I took her back downtown as she had an appointment with the foot doctor. It was about 4 pm when I got home and had to be at the church at 7 pm for choir practice. Needless to say I went to bed pretty quickly after getting home. I am ready for a quiet day.
Gord, glad your wife benefits from the pool.
Jane, I am like you in that I have had the flu shot for several years and have never had a problem. I got mine the other day.
Ruth, attending meetings seems to be the rule of the day in most places. Unfortunately most are not well organized and drag on much too long or you have a meeting because it is time for a meeting whether needed or not. At least that was my experience.
Michael, sorry to read of your friend's fall and broken bone.
Marilyn, we also are praying for more rain here in Georgia. The half inch was helpful but didn't do anything to lessen the drought. The Federal Government is suppose to announce their decision today whether they will lessen the amount of water they are draining from Lake Lanier daily to send downstream. They have been taking out over 3 billion gallons a day. The lake is within one foot of its lowest point.
Time for me to get the car out as I am driving this morning. My neighbor goes with me on Friday or I go with him and it is my turn.
I am off for the pool in a few minutes. Do any of you use Skype? Our son who is out of work at the moment is using Skype on the computer to connect with us - we like it, so nice and clear. I hope Don can come to the gym next week, I think he is ready now but he doesn't want a coughing fit and I can't blame him.
Etta Sue: Isn't that the truth that we worry more about our close ones than ourselves?
Larry: It is into the 40's this morning and much warmer than yesterdy morning - we all want snow but just not the day of Thanksgiving - thank you very much. It just isn't fair to be cold and not have snow. I have three pairs of boots - for different degrees of snow. Light, medium and good grief, is it ever going to stop snowing? ;)
We need to order new tires and that will run over $600 at the least expensive place.
Carol

My car is still gone. Ivalou and I went to the viewing. I really didn't know Mark but I know his mother, Betty, his brother, David, and his sister, Amy. And even his uncle, George. I went to grade school with him. And my SIL, Barb, did okay with her bone marrow test. I don't know when they will get the results of the test.
Today Ivalou and I are going to the funeral at 11am. I am hoping the car place calls me and tells me the car is done. I can think of a dozen things to do but without a car, I can't do them.
Jane ~ Are you taking Lisinopril? That was what was causing my tickle/cough/mucous! And reactions from the flu shot? None here unless it is a new cold. I was over a cold for maybe 3 days and started again. Terrible at night and in the mornings. Afternoon and evenings you wouldn't know I have a cold. It's about 10 days in running so I should be over it soon!

About the Flu if you have already been exposed to the flu you may or may not get sick with or without the shot. But the flu shot contains a DEAD version of the flu virus and it is impossible to get the flu from the flu shot. You have to already have the flu in your system. Getting sick after the shot is just coincidental. It is amazing to me how many people are misinformed.
Good Morning. I will be going to work this morning, we are cleaning and re papering kitchen cupboards. After I get home I will vacuum the living and bedrooms and do another load of laundry. I won't have time to do anything tomorrow as I am going to Ruth's memorial service. Another couple and I are going to dinner (lunch) before the service, so from 11:30 until the service is over will take up most of the afternoon.
It is still raining here, It wasn't when I left for Curves. I am keeping the dogs in unless they have to "go".
Everyone have a great day. Thanks to all who looked at my Photos, it is always so nice to see the comments as well. Praying for you Jane.

2nd real frost of the winter so I had opportunity to catch the roses with a touch of frosting. Posted a couple in the gallery.
Interesting how many opinions are on the internet about flu vaccinations. I have been having them long before the public became so health conscious. Since the 70's, when supporting two kids on my own and subject to many health problems. Until this year, neither myself or daughter, nor many others, had experienced a problem, other than a mild discomfort. It is now two weeks and we are still having fever, headaches, upset tummy, etc. I have personally been unable to do many things as a direct result of the shot. Makes one wonder, when healthy, then the next day, very ill.....This is from our BC Health people:
Myth: The influenza vaccine causes severe reactions or side effects.
Fact: The influenza vaccine is very safe. Most people experience no symptoms after getting the influenza vaccine other than redness or soreness where the needle was given. Some people, especially those getting the shot for the first time, experience some influenza-like symptoms. These are much less severe than influenza infection, and last for a much shorter time
I am still waiting for the 'shorter time'!!!
God Bless,
Liz

Nope. I take no medications except for my thyroid, and I've been taking that for probably 30 years or more. ::) Doctor thinks (guesses) some of the problem could be post nasal sinus drainage and gave me a nasal mist to use at bedtime to see if that will help with the morning coughing. Only thing is I cough any time -- morning, noon, or evening! ??? Seems most often to be after I've eaten (but not always).
Liz there is a severe cold virus going around that has even killed people in Oregon and New York I saw it on the news this morning. Maybe this is what you and wendy have contracted and not the flu.
I sure don't like to hear about a severe cold virus going around. Don is just exhausted today again and I washed the sheets this afternoon and had him go in to take a nap. He has barely been outside for two weeks - coughing for no reason. I still cough but am able to do about everything.
I started wrapping the few Christmas presents we have and that is mainly to keep curious eyes from looking when they come for Thanksgiving. Now I am beginning to worry and shouldn't - but if Don isn't better by next week, I think I will have to tell everyone to go to daughter's house - and she is almost ready to accept a new job offer so had tons of work.
We had the hose going to deep water trees today and it is still drought here. Barely any snow in the mountains so ski resorts are suffering. They are so subsidized by our taxes anyway, a thorn in our sides. Other businesses have to make it on their own - did you know that the ski industry has for years been hiring illegals who then bring their entire family to live in the pricey mountain area - schools, hospitization, and so forth & one person in the family works in the ski industry for less wages - Anyway, those people will never leave even if they lose their jobs for lack of snow and then services will be needed to assist them. An ongoing thing that no one reads about. We love to ski but it sure is an environmentally abusive business.
Liz and Etta Sue: Sorry about your illness.
Marilyn: It was nice to you to go to the memorial service.

Jane: Is it possible that you have a form of asthma because food can and does cause irritations with some folk.
The job related meetings went fine, at least they are over for a couple of months.
About the flu shot it is not for me. The Dr. has given up on having me have the shot.
Time for bed Ruth

The tests and Xrays the doctor has had me go through all indicate there is nothing like asthma or any other sort of lung/allergy problem present ... (And, believe me, I have had plenty of tests with more to come when I go to the ENT doc. ::) )
Good Morning I looks like I am first to come in this morning unless someone posts while I am typing. Not much is new here at this early hour. My dehumidifier sure is working good at pulling the moisture out of the air in my house. Sheesh I never knew there was that much.
The memorial service is today, so that is what I am doing today.

We need snow and it is critical for water for next year. There is a storm from Alaska that everyone is watching to see if it will come to our area on Tuesday.
Don isn't coughing much but still so tired. If this doesn't end soon, I am going to push him to go to his general doctor (the VA). So difficult to get in there.
Larry: I read that after the prayer session for rain - it did rain the very next day. Not enough but wasn't it a sign? ;)
I am going to go to church tonight and not sure if Don can make it but it is a shorter service and more quiet, we can sit in back & walk out if coughing fit begins - isn't it irritating to have to think about having a coughing fit? This morning, the Celtic music is playing - lots of fiddle playing. Time to make my work list for Thanksgiving dinner with just ten this year. One son & family will drive to Texas and wouldn't you know, we are watching that snow storm possibility. They always have a tough drive this time of the year. We ordered new tires for the minivan - talk about an arm and a leg. Let me put a red ribbon around those tires for our present.

Wow what discussion. Jane I am sorry youa re having cough problems. Everyone here is a lay doctor of sorts. Here is my go at it. Leave milk and milj products alone. They create muccus.
Yesterday was quite a day. The girls had left their laundry and When I realized it I went to it and got it done. There is just a bit left to put away. They have their own ironing to do though. I got all my and john's laundry done, a job I really don't like, but it is done for now.
The cold is here it seems for good. This morning the fire is having trouble getting the heat up. Brrrrrrrr it is cold. Kass just came up and said it is going well now. We are going out in a few to start cutting more wood.
John is home and expecting a slow week next week. It is Thanksgiving for you folks south of the border. That makes things slow in the trucking industry.
"This is the day that the Lord has made, I WIlL rejoice and be glad in it!"
God bless everyone

My car is still in the shop. So I am carless!! I will go to church with Ivalou tomorrow. They are having a dinner after church at the church and then I asked Ivalou to take me to WalMart. Card table and four chairs are on sale and I would like to get them for me to use when I have Euchre and Ivalou can borrow them for her Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She already has two sets but counting heads, she needs three sets. I also have a list of other things to get while I am there.
Ivalou cut my hair this morning. Feels much better short.
And I have decided to go with Ivalou for her tests Monday. One she has a dye put in her system. She stated she didn't know what she would do if they found a blockage and she was sent to the hospital. I don't have a car so I couldn't go to her. So to stop that worry, I will take a book, hand-held Solitaire and some snacks. I feel better about being with her, too. She's my sister!!
I will forward my home phone to the cell phone so if they call and tell me I can pick up my car, I will get the call. Handy!!
That's it for today!!
Solar heat is going today. Fireplace is running today. Cold. 46° and suppose to get in the low 50's. Bright and sunny, though! >^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<

ES you say that you are so careless, I don't see that you are careless in anything you do.
Well we have three loads of wood in, one tree we cut up [was hollow in the center, no wonder it blew down. This is one this we try to do is only burn trees that are down and dead. Saves in drying time and preserves the living ones.
Pat it was nice to talk to you today. I will see you next Saturday. Looking forward to that.
Well have suooer to prepare and john has a trip to the dump to do, so had better run. Have a good evening I willl be back tonight
The memorial service was very nice. There was a wonderful display of photos of Ruth from throughout her life. Her wedding photo was beautiful her Daughter In Law is the one who put it all together. There were some of her hats there, she loved her hats. the Pastor from her church read from Ruth's autobiography that she wrote in a writing class that she took. I spoke a little as did other's. It was very nice.
Etta Sue..........CARELESS. LOL No....she is CARLESS. And never careless, I don't think. Are you? Every careless, Etta Sue?
We had some great stormy weather last night and most of today. I think it's over now, but I sure enjoyed it. And while that was going on, in my animation tutorial group.........I learned how to create rain. How cool is that? lol
I've been painting my living room. It's a nice calm green and I really like it. Just a few touch ups and I'm all done. It seems everyone I talk to is spiffing up and cleaning up and changing things around. Must be getting ready for something new.
My daughter is getting closer to baby day. Last Wednesday the doctor told her she was dilated to 2 now. We think it'll be soon...before her due date of December 04. She is doing ok, and Paul, hubby, went to another birthing class and didn't faint. This one wasn't a movie, but just relaxing massage and other things that can be done for her. She is sooo happy that my sister, Pam, who was her coach 18 years ago when Angel was born, will also be her coach this time. Paul can have the freedom to come and go as he needs to. He needs to feel needed, and he is.
Blessings, everyone. Nita
Good Morning to you all. It is still pretty early here so there isn't anything new since I posted last night. So I am just stopping in to say Good Morning and I pray aly-all will have a very blessed day.
If it doesn't rain I will take the dogs for their walks after church.
I forgot to tell you that I won a 16-18lb turkey from Safeway. I will go today and have them cut it in quarters so it well fit in my freezer. I already have a 12lb bird cut in half in my freezer, plus the pork that my neighbor gave me, so I am set with meat for quite awhile all this in in addition to what I already had. Now I have to find room to store the big bags of veggies that I buy to cook for the dogs.
Nita: Any news on the latest baby? 18 years apart - that is really a huge difference.
Marilyn: Congrats on your turkey winning.
I could just scream......had to walk out of a group at church because of this stupid, never-ending coughing. I missed all the information on a work trip to Pine Ridge Reservation in July but we just can't go as it was even 110 degrees F. when they went this year in July. Beside, for some reason, there is a fee of $250 each with this trip and I am wondering if the reservation is the cause of this cost. I didn't get a chance to ask.
Pat: Just wanted to ask you if you could check out posts from Cami on SeniorNet - she sounds like a perfect person for CP - Her real name is Bernice. She sent me an email and I have thought that you might like to join this group.

Me, careless? I never thought of myself being careless. But since my CAR is in the shop, I am CAR-less!!! I got a chuckle out that, JudyB.
Since I am CAR-less, I went to church with Ivalou. For some reason, she wasn't feeling very good. She said she was fine until she went up the steps. Her church is kind of a split level. Up to the sanctuary and down to the kitchen/basement from street level. They do have a handicap elevator but she didn't think to use that because it never bothered her before.
After church, she even asked me to drive her car. She said she felt a little dizzy headed. So we went to Bob Evans and then to WalMart. The main thing I was wanting was card table and chairs and they were out. So I got a rain check. I may not have them for Ivalou to borrow for Thanksgiving but hopefully for the next time I have Euchre.
And Ivalou still wanted me to drive her car home. I helped her carry her things in and I walked back home.
I thought the church was having Heritage Dinner right after church but it is at 5pm and a lady reminded Ivalou to be there at 3pm to help decorate...two hours of decorating!! I told Ivalou to take some Tylenol, lie down, cover up and maybe she will awake by 5pm. I don't think she has any business going at 3pm and maybe not 5pm. Gotta keep my sister!! :'(
Now I am doing some laundry.(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FFootprints.gif&hash=44496580d083bac067afa63bf86e200c298046a8)

Hi everyone. This has been a pretty quiet day. Pat and I did attend church this morning but didn't go out to eat with the group as they were going to a Chinese place we just don't care for. So we stopped at McDonald's and had their $1 double cheeseburgers and $1 hot fudge sundaes. Since we are seniors they give us a free drink. We both ate for just a little over $5, certainly much less expensive than it usually is on Sunday. Of course we missed spending very enjoyable time with our friends. We are going with most of the group to our monthly birthday group tomorrow for lunch at Red Lobster and that will be fun.
When we got home I turned on the football game then took a little nap. I plan on doing some updating of the church website later this afternoon unless I give up in frustration. So far I have not been enjoying taking back the responsibility but have found out that I shouldn't have to do it very long as they are planning on using a professional webmaster. I was really glad to learn of this as hadn't wanted the job back but didn't want to leave the church without someone at this time.
Sorry to hear of those not feeling very good.
:)Good Day to all. I have just read tie posting's and very interesting.
We were at church and praise the Lord my wife NOREEN was able to go today which is a plus and the message was all about love and the many ways that we can do this. When we got home I did not feel so good and I was haveing a diabetic low and it does not feel good. Since I got this disease this is the first bad one I have had and I hope that as I try to regulate my way of living and also loose weight those type of things will stay away.
Marilyn:It is amazing how the Lord supplies our needs and he does this in so many different ways. We are so blessed in our countries.
Carol: Hope Don's coughing will get better.
Etta Sue: Hi to you and hope that you are keeping well and you always sound busy.
Larry: Hi to you also how is yuor wife Pat doing. Keep busy and stay out of trouble.
Wordsculpt: How are things doing over in the British Isles? Has that strong rain finally stopped? As my wife and myself were in Scotland when England was getting clobbered with the rain I thought I would ask.
Liz: My wife and I have never had any reaction's to the flu shot's and have no cold's so we are very thankful for them.
Judy B. Hi Sis. Hope that all is well in the cold snowy north. You can keep all the snow I would much rather be in the sunny south. I am glad to here that you are getting the supplies of would into the house for the winter. Keep praying for Noree's back. Thanks. :)
Pat How are you doing? Hope that you are looking after yourself<3
Gord: It was lovely that Noreen was feeling well enough to go to church. And, sorry that you had a low feeling day and do hope that you can get meds and diet and exercise in the right order so you can live well with the diabetes. Don is doing much better, thank you.
Larry: Glad to read that the church is going to hire a webmaster as it sounds like it just takes so much time - and you have enough on your plate.
Etta Sue: So sorry that you are so worried about your sister and lets hope that this passes quickly and she is back to her old self once again. Make that "young self".
