Morning Devotional...
PAUSE FOR A MOMENT
Do you ever wish that life came with a pause button? Do you ever wish you could just take a moment of your life and stay there forever? I was remembering a moment like that from my own life recently. It was the night I brought my newborn baby son home from the hospital.
My son was three weeks late in arriving, and my wife needed an emergency Caesarian section to bring him into the world. She was still in a lot of pain and sleeping when I heard him wake up during the night. Gently, I picked him up and carried him into the living room so my wife could sleep. Rocking him in my arms, I told him how much I loved him, and how I would always be there for him no matter what. Then I saw his sweet eyes gazing up at me, and the smallest of siles form on his lips. It was a moment of pure joy that I wished would never end.
Over the next 21 years, I watched my son grow into a wonderful young man. In spite of having to deal with Autism, he has still spread more joy, shared more love, and shined more light than I could ever hope to. He has brightened up every room he has ever walked into, and he has filled my life with so many happy oments. My only regret is that I let far too many of them go by without cherishing them as I should have.
Still, no matter how much we may wish it, life doesn't come with a rewind or a pause button. It can only be lived moment by moment. Do your best to embrace each moment as it comes. Celebrate each one of them as a gift from God. Cherish the moments of love you give and the moments of joy you share. Learn from your moments of pain, and grow from your moments of failure. Most of all, take the time to pause for a moment right now, and give thanks to God for your life and all the moments of happiness it has brought you. Life may be momentary, but the love it gives you lasts forever.

Thank you Janet.. Good devotional.
Thanks, Janet ... I can surely relate to this :-\
Still, no matter how much we may wish it, life doesn't come with a rewind or a pause button.
Life goes on and so must we ....
Hi everyone and Janet thanks for the devotional for this week.
Not much new here. Stacey thoughts she would go home today from the hospital but started feeling bad again and the doctor decided to keep her for one more night. She did seem to be feeling better today and they moved her to a regular room and took off the heart monitor. They are still giving her fluids.
We had a very good church service today and a large choir. We did an anthem based on the Finlandia and it was very moving. The sermon was also very good.
Pat continues to progress in her recovery.
Have a busy day tomorrow.
Hi Janet! Thanks for this week's devotional.
QuoteMost of all, take the time to pause for a moment right now, and give thanks to God for your life and all the moments of happiness it has brought you. Life may be momentary, but the love it gives you lasts forever.
Amen
Great devotional Janet, Thanks I needed that.
:) Thanks for the devotional Janet.
Larry: Glad to hear that Pat is doing better. Hope that your daughter will feel better tomorrow. Lookafter yourself. :coffee:
We had a wonderful service at church this morning and the power of the Holy Spirit was vey powerful in the whole service praise God for his goodness to us. :cp:
Well have a wonderful week and may the Lord be with all who post here on C.P. <3
Hi, friends, I'm here for just a moment. Simply too sleepy to talk. :)
g'nite all.
I will post for today even though I posted fairly late yesterday. I have a busy day ahead as will leave from coffee and go to my daughters apartment to return the laundry I did for her over the weekend. Then I need to stop at BrandSmart and exchange the iPod docking station I bought on Friday as it didn't work with my iPod Touch. Then I have an appointment with my surgeon to have the stitches removed. Finally I need to be back here by 1 pm for my men's luncheon.
The housekeeper is coming today along with the yard people. Of course, I don't have to do anything with regard to these other than to pay them.
We haven't heard from our daughter this morning.
Thanks for the devotion Janet, how true it is.
A beautiful morning here in NC this morning, 59° with a bright sun coming up. Thank you Lord for the light you send to us from your word and from your sun.
Already had my little walk and now I am off to help my new neighbor move in. Will start potting my next years fern crop today. Already have my soil made up, enough for 900 10" baskets, so all I need is a week to get them potted.
Must run, daylight is burning up!
Have a blessed day everyone.
Don
Hi Everyone Just thought I would sit a few minutes and post. Larry know that you and your family are in our prayers that you are all restored to good health. Things are progressing here. Doug was here on sat. to cut some wood for our winter needs. I find it so frustrating to have to rely on others to get my work done this year. It goes so against my nature. I suppose God is giving me a message in all of this and I just have to sit back and let Him orchestrate all my needs. Weather has been good this year. Its almost as if the seasons have done a flip. we are now getting the summer weather that we missed out on in the summer. That works good though with getting things done in prep for he winter season. Noted that you mentioned that it was 59 degrees in NC Don. That's not much different from up here much farther north at the moment. However that is unseasonal for us. We normally have cooler weather at this time of year. Anyway got to run for now. Gods blessings on you all. Bonesy
Thank you, Janet, for the thoughts. It reminded me of one more thing for which to be thankful - that I live in the world, not only for me, but for His glory. Oh Lord, let it be so.
So Don - I assume from your post that you are a grower of some particular type of ferns. They are surely a beautiful variety of God's creation.
Good Monday to all of you!
After having had a couple days' rest, I am feeling like getting back at the job at hand, though surely not looking forward to it.
Thanks for all the kind words re the Thoughts---and a special thank you to whomever fixed my mistake. I couldn't figure it out, so had to pray someone else would, and repair it. THANKS!!
I have a dental appointment at 10 to get my smile polished. Then I must remember to use it a lot! ;D
Prayers for Nita, Pat, Bonesy, Larry, Stacey, Etta Sue's gals, and any others mentioned here.

Janet, thanks for the devotion. So true. Lauren said the other day that she wasn't going to live in the past or the future. Today is what matters.
Busy day today. I am having Euchre here tomorrow so I am mopping and sweeping. Not doing near as much as I did for CWF. This afternoon I am creating a crockpot of Texas Chili. We are doing it like a pitch-in. I am furnishing the chili, crackers and ice. Also the snacks on the tables. That's it. Everyone else is bringing something. So that makes it easier on the host!
Tonight is Killbuck Photo Guild. It is always amazing to me the talent in this photo group. Wish I could take each one of you with me.
Off and running.....(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)

Right now I am growing two variety's, true Boston and Australian Sword or Kimberley queen. Yes you are right they are a beautiful creation from God.
I will try and post a picture later. Have to run right now and pick up baskets so I can get started potting.

Oh, how wonderful these words are. Thanks for posting.
My husband and I were in a car accident last night and by the grace of GOD, we are fine--even the other guy was fine (his car destroyed) He rear ended our SUV with his poor 94 oldsmobile. Poor fellow, a young school teacher heading to his new position (car full of his belongings) My heart went out to him.
Bonesy, you sound like my husband. He is so impatient now that he can't use his arm as well as before his cancer . Doesn't like to rely on others---he feels he can do it faster than to wait for others to come around and help.
But he's learning.
Back later when I have more time.
Have to do my work and help my daughter in law with her work as her Aunt passed away and my DIL went off to Michigan for a couple of days.
I have finished making my Red Pepper Jelly 14 ½ jars. I can't wait for it to gel so I can have some on a mini bagel with cream cheese.
I have been so busy this morning and still have more to do, I have one more load of laundry to fold and walk the dogs before I start thinking about what's for supper. I plan on cleaning out the fridge for supper tonight.
Pat How is Geordie today?
:) Pat: How are you I hope thatr you are both well. How is geordie I hope he is well. Noreen and I are enjoying our grandchildren so much.
To all others on C.P. have a wonderful week and may the Lord bless you. :cp: :bananadance:
Janet: Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to write the devotions for all of us. Now - a pause in life is yet to be found. Don't those weeks just fly by much too quickly?
Etta Sue: I didn't tell you that the other day we saw a big amount of snow on the peaks - it is coming. You had better knit something warm for yourself.
Larry: Sorry that Stacey had to return to the hospital. She is really nice and close to get in there quickly so that apartment sounds like it is perfect for her and the needs. Praying for her BP to come down.
Ruth Ann: Darling baby pictures. How fun for you.
Don: We walk almost daily for an hour each time but certainly not as fast as you. It keeps my BP down and does make us feel better besides we can meet our neighbors out there and on occasion, a wild animal (mostly bunnies). Nice to see you posting in here.
I cleaned my craft closet this morning, mailed a box of much needed Skittles and Pringles to the g-son in Minnesota. He has hockey team tryouts for several days in a row this week & said he was "starving". Also, I worked on a quilt for an hour until this back started to ache and it is looking more interesting now.
We have our family reunion this weekend. There are two dogs in poor condition and now we don't know what we can do - all pre-paid at this point and no pets allowed.
Hi everyone. I will post twice today and probably pass for tomorrow as nothing special planned (although don't promise not to stop by). The good news is that our daughter was released from the hospital today and is back at her apartment. She is pretty week from having had strep throat, the regular flu, and then the dehydration and getting her diabetes in a turmoil. Hopefully she is on the road to recovery with a few days to regain some strength.
I had an appointment with my surgeon today and was dismissed as all is fine. The pain is gone and I had a very good course of recovery (for which I am thankful). He told me he felt my attitude had a lot to do with my recovery and lack of side effects. Pat is doing well in her recovery and is in day four. I think she is getting cabin fever so don't expect her to stay in too much longer. Since it is her left foot she can drive when she feels up to it.
Our local cafe, where I had coffee for so many years, has now reopened with a new owner. My men's group ate lunch there today and it was a very good plate lunch. She makes the salad herself and is particular about the vegetables.
A friend sent me the following, which is felt was worth sharing today. This one will tug on your heartstrings.
May God bless the all brave soldiers.
Daddy's Poem
Her hair was up in a pony tail, her favorite dress tied with a bow. Today was Daddy's Day at school, and she couldn't wait to go.
But her mummy tried to tell her, that she probably should stay home. Why the kids might not understand, if she went to school alone.
But she was not afraid; she knew just what to say. What to tell her classmates of why he wasn't there today.
But still her mother worried, for her to face this day alone. And that was why once again, she tried to keep her daughter home.
But the little girl went to school eager to tell them all. About a dad she never sees a dad who never calls.
There were daddies along the back wall, for everyone to meet. Children squirming impatiently, anxious in their seats
One by one the teacher called a student from the class to introduce their daddy, as seconds slowly passed.
At last the teacher called her name, every child turned to stare.
Each of them was searching, a man who wasn't there.
'Where's her daddy at?' She heard a boy call out. 'She probably doesn't have one,' another student dared to shout.
And from somewhere near the back, she heard a daddy say, 'Looks like another deadbeat dad, too busy to waste his day.'
The words did not offend her, as she smiled up at her Mum. And looked back at her teacher, who told her to go on.
And with hands behind her back, slowly she began to speak and out from the mouth of a child, came words incredibly unique.
'My Daddy couldn't be here, because he lives so far away. But I know he wishes he could be, since this is such a special day.
And though you cannot meet him, I wanted you to know all about my daddy, and how much he loves me so.
He loved to tell me stories and he taught me to ride my bike. He surprised me with pink roses, and taught me to fly a kite.
We used to share fudge sundaes, and ice cream in a cone. And though you cannot see him. I'm not standing here alone.
'Cause my daddy's always with me, even though we are apart I know because he told me, he'll forever be in my heart'
With that, her little hand reached up, and lay across her chest. feeling her own heartbeat, beneath her favorite dress.
And from somewhere in the crowd of dads, her mother stood in tears. Proudly watching her daughter, who was wise beyond her years.
For she stood up for the love of a man not in her life. Doing what was best for her, doing what was right.
And when she dropped her hand back down, staring straight into the crowd. She finished with a voice so soft, but its message clear and loud.
'I love my daddy very much, he's my shining star. And if he could, he'd be here, but heaven's just too far. You see he is a soldier
And died just this past year when a roadside bomb hit his convoy and taught brave men to fear. But sometimes when I close my eyes,
it's like he never went away.' And then she closed her eyes, and saw him there that day.
And to her mother's amazement, she witnessed with surprise. A room full of daddies and children, all starting to close their eyes.
Who knows what they saw before them, who knows what they felt inside. Perhaps for merely a second, they saw him at her side.
'I know you're with me Daddy,' to the silence she called out. And what happened next made believers, of those once filled with doubt.
Not one in that room could explain it, for each of their eyes had been closed. But there on the desk beside her, was a fragrant long- stemmed pink rose.
And a child was blessed, if only for a moment, by the love of her shining star. And given the gift of believing, that heaven is never too far..
Larry: The poem is so precious
Thank you Larry for sharing that poem. It is so precious and meaningful.
Once again my Father has supplied my needs. I found out, recently, that the person I was hoping to get wood from is out of the picture and I knew I'd have to find someone to buy wood from.
My neighbor found out that there is wood available here at the park for a very reasonable price ($100 a cord) and ... before I could go to the office and put in my order ... they went down there, ordered and paid for 1/2 cord of wood. The guys brought it right up and it was more like 3/4 cord. My neighbors and I got it into my shed and stacked and then I went out for the mail, which was delivered just as we got the last piece of wood in.
In the mail was a check for me for $128 from some back dividends (dating from Nov 2006) that AT&T had been "unable" to get to me because, they said they didn't have a current address for me. These dividends amount to about $3 a month and I hadn't even missed them because I just figured they weren't paying any more.
Because they had been accumulating for so long, the check was very nice to receive today! I paid my neighbor back for the wood and had some left over to deposit in my very enemic bank account.
I've always said "My Father knows what I need ... and He will supply ALL my needs" (and not to worry about tomorrow ..so, if I don't have it today, I don't "need" it today) .... He showed me (and my neighbors) that He is still taking care of me and I have nothing to be concerned about ;).
Amen Jane. He always supplies!
Now ain't that just like God. Thank you!Thank you!Thank you Lord!!! for looking out for us.
Don
You betcha, Don! It's a great way to live.
Mornin everyone. Just a quick post this morning before I decide how to spend my day. Larry be assured that you and your family are in our prayers and hope everyone is on the road to recovery. Joyce hope you folks are ok and not have any after effects of that collision. You are in our prayers, As a professional driver and also having investigated many accidents I have seen first hand some of the results of such experiences. Weather is cooler here today but that's ok. Well going to run for now Blessings everyone Bonesy.
Larry, I've seen that poem before but every time I read it I get choked up and weepy. It's so beautiful!
I had evidence on Saturday of the Lord's protection. On my way to visit with my daughter and my #1 son, about 25 miles mostly on back roads, a saw a deer standing on the opposite side, facing toward the woods. I slowed down a bit, wishing I could get a picture but knowing by the time I pulled over and got out my camera the opportunity would be gone. As I got almost level with the deer, she changed her mind, turned and darted across in front of me and into the woods on my side. I managed to come to a full stop just as she got in front of my right headlight. If there had been another coat of paint on my front bumper I would have hit her. And if I hadn't slowed down when I did there is no way I could have avoided hitting her head on. Thank you Lord for slowing me down!
Thank you, Lord, for supplying all of our Jane's needs! Never too early; never too late--that's our God! May His name be praised forever!
We have a need for which we are praying. We really need at least two strong men for two days just before the auction, to help move some really heavy tools and equipment. Since those two days are the ones when I will be going to Salina for the State Senior Spelling Bee, Darrel is really feeling frustrated. But even if I were here, those things are just too much for a couple of kids our age! And I know that God will supply---surely there are men around here who would appreciate having a couple days' work (and pay, of course!)
Darrel had an alarm trouble call to run in Liberal, so I am going to try to get everything I can lift/carry out of Beth's trailer while he is gone. We are still plugging away, day by day.
Good news! The big house has been sitting empty since our two great renters had to leave; and now we are going to have a crew of seven men moving in. They are from Georgia, Louisiana, and other Southern states; here working on getting new lines and poles installed for our electric company. This is to repair the widespread damage from the devastating ice storm a couple of years ago. Anyway, to have some income from the house again will be nice.
Also--we are planning to go on a short term missions trip to Peru, the last of October. My good friend from my painting group is going; they will be visiting the project that her husband's memorial money went to complete; also we will be putting the roof on a parsonage. We have been wanting to go on one of these trips for sev eral years and it just hadn't seemed to be the right one or the right time, so I'm really happy about this opportunity to serve the Lord this way again.
I must get busy or I won't get enough done today. I must stop earlier than yesterday because I want to go to the big Home Products Dinner tonight.
I see Jeanne and Bonesey have posted while I was typing. Jeanne, I am praising God for protecting you from hitting that deer! And John, God bless and continue to heal you.
Jeanne what an experience. Did you see another, We have a rule of thumb up here...where there's one there are two, and often more. I am glad you didn't hit it.
Today is cool and breezy. It is a typical autumn day. Still not much colour in the trees though. Usually they are turning bright reds and orange by now.
If any of you folks have Iris pictures please check out Don's Iris picture and feel free to add your pictures to the same thread. There are so many different colours and types of iris that we are making one topic with all of them.
Luka our new Doberman is pacing. We are still learning his language, and I am not sure what he is wanting. HE is definitely a mans dog. He is still following John around.
We are taking a trip a little bit south on Sunday. We have to gat rid of our chickens. I hope we have a nice day, there may be photo ops if it is!
Gotta go Praying for the needs here
God bless Judy

Why am I sitting here at the computer instead of getting things ready for Euchre here this afternoon? Why?
Guild was fun last night. We had 42 digital photos to see plus a few printed photos and slides. Lots of eye candy!
Bright and sunny here in Indiana today. It may be too hot for Texas Chili but that is what we are having to eat. The rest is being brought by others. ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

It's never too hot or sunny for Texas Chili - as long as it has some cheese or parmesan cheese to go in it or on it. Could you send a little of it on the cyber express so I can have some?
Oh, what a lovely poem
Jane, right on, if our Heavenly Father doesn't give me what I desire or should say need today then it is not what He thinks I need today.
Wait patiently on the Lord; must keep remembering that.!!!
Waiting patiently means I don't fret about it or pick up the desire and try to do it on my own.
When we fret about an issue or something that we consider necessary, we're neither committing ourselves to the Lord nor trusting in Him.
Waiting patiently is rarely easy. However, God knows when circumstances and timing are perfectly aligned for His will to be done.
please pray for a dear friend. seriously ill--waiting for a liver transplant but his wife told me that poor sweet Wally has been in a coma since Saturday.

I participated in devotional service at our apartment house this morning, then returned to find all these wonderful posts. Several times I've blinked back tears and swallowed that big lump in my throat.
My son fell off a stage last week and his bad knee bent forward. So, likely I'll be heading to England when he has his surgery. I sure wish I had the funds to get there easily!
Y'all have a good day with our Savior.
Oh Ruth Ann I am praying for your son. Also for the funds to be made available to you supernaturally and quickly. God is in control.
Hi, everyone. I'm so lax into getting to places I want to go. :) I've read all the posts that I missed and up to Marilyn's just above me.
Jane, I'm so glad that you have your wood, and isn't it wonderful that Father paid for it. :)
Marilyn, I made pepper jelly one year. We used Jalapeños. It was so good with cream cheese and bagles, as you said. It was very sweet and very hot. I bet I'd like the red pepper jelly too.
Thank you for the prayers, Marilyn. It will be interesting to see what the treatment schedule will be, since he'll be treated in the UK health system...
:)Good evening to all. It has been a very busy day again. I did my volunteer at the mission by going out to the farm to pick up eggs. Then got a load of clothes and took them to our store that we call Redeemed Goods and the money that comes into this store goes right back into the ministry so it was a busy morning.
Then I came home and had a quick lunch then I took my son to his job interview and then we came back to pick up my wife at Wal-Mart then we went to pick up an other part for my son's jeep and we are having a terrible time getting it on the road so please pray that we can get it fixed very soon. :)
Have a great evening to all. Gord. <3
Question for Judy---why must you get rid of your chickens? I thought you were raising them for meat?
The Home Products Dinner last evening was very enjoyable. The community formed a Centennial Orchestra/Band, and they entertained us during dinner; really good, too! (It has been 100 years since the entire town of Ulysses was moved two miles.) And of course the food was good, everything raised right here in Grant County with the exception of coffee, tea, salt and pepper. Then the speaker entertained us with his talk on Laughter is the Best Medicine. He is a medical doctor, but is not practicing now--discovered that doing comedy is lots more fun and way less stressful. A fun evening altogether.
Darrel and I are ready to head out to work again. My plan is to completely clean out what is left in Beth's trailer, which isn't much. Then we will work on other stuff. He did get Beth's old car started and moved yesterday; still has a little more to do on it. He put in a new battery and 3 quarts of transmission fluid, says it still needs some brake fluid. It had set there for over 10 years, the tires were flat, but held up after he put air in them. At least it will be out of the way!
We will move Beth's refrigerator over here and sell the big, old one we are using in the garage. We probably should sell another refrigerator and another freezer and stop keeping so much food on hand. Old habits die hard, I guess. So much work..... :P
I hope everyone is feeling better today, and wish you sunshine and happiness and the joy that comes from the Lord. See you later.
Janet by getting rid of them means that we are taking them to the slaughter, the only place here in the north is about 80 miles south. The meat inspector won't release them till the temp of each bird is under 40*F. If we have them there on Sunday we may be able to pick up our freezer load by Monday afternoon.
Today is going to be a busy day. We have to be to Heather by 11:45 to pick up Kassie's school work. She could print it at school but we don't have MSWord. The program we have is OpenOffice and it isn't compatible with Word. I have a printer but it won't align the paper properly so that is at Heathers as well, to see if she can get the alignment problem fixed. IF not we may have to continue this way of doing things till we can afford a new printer. We have other things to do in town as well so trying to do everything all the same trip.
I have to run
Judy
This last couple of weeks have been a little on the busy side, I found a can of paint that I had used perhaps 10 yrs ago that is still good, I tried painting the inner part of a window, instead of white it is now the same as the outer trim looks much better. The rest of the windows in the house will be getting the same.
Yesterday between jobs we made a trip to Orangeville then after arriving home our daughter and granddaughter came by a lovely surprise. On a sad note my daughter has 3 funerals or visitations this week she thinks one will be a visitation but the other will be the funeral service. 1 was aging, 1 was sudden her bosses brother, the other was sudden but cancer.
I will be painting today that is for sure then I expect company on Friday.
Judy: I did not realize that your chickens would have been big enough for the table yet.
Janet: Your need for an auction is much different than us but I am finding that here and there things get tossed or given away and when all is done it is never missed. Cluttered space is freed up.
Marilyn: Good to see your postings.
Pat: We do not see you here very much.
Larry & the rest: Thanks for being here almost every day.
I don't have anything in particular on my to do list for today. Walking the dogs is an everyday thing I need the exercise as much as they do. I've been thinking about making some Banana bread.
There is a lady who used to bring Keith 2 loaves of Banana bread every now and then, but since I am now here she told Keith that she isn't going to do that anymore, she would come by here and drop off the bread when she was in the area to see a friend. She also refused to give me her recipe. She made the best Banana bread that I've ever tasted. The last time she brought the bread was around Christmas of last year.
I will probably work on a couple of PSP lessons sometime today.
Yesterday I made a call to someone in Alabama to pray for her, she has had breast cancer and now they have found spots on her lumbar shine and cervical spine that they are concerned about, she will be having MRI's next week.
Judy, I am surprised that Open Office isn't compatible with Microsoft Word. All the hype I've heard about Open Office was that it always recognized MS Word and the other MS applications. I'm glad you posted about that, and that I never did bother to download it.

Euchre was fun but for awhile there, we didn't know. Jodi will be 81 the 21st of this month. Since May she has been in the hospital 7 times. I talked to her Sunday and she sounded like our old Jodi! She said took some meds away and she was much better and looking forward to coming to Euchre. Well, Ivalou and Jane were here. It was 3pm and no one else here. I got a phone call and it was a neighbor lady telling me that Nancy's son called her to have her call me to tell me that Nancy was taking Jodi to the hospital! Oh, no! And Jodi was feeling so good Sunday. And now we are two players short! So I called SIL Barb to see if she would play. She called 4-5 ladies to play and got no results.
So I called Evelyn. She was having CWF at her house and they were just sitting on the patio talking. So I asked her if she could ask them if it were all right to close the meeting so she could their 'sister' out of a bind. She called back and said she could be here in 15 minutes.
By then everyone was here or coming except Janet! Where's Janet? So Barb called her. Her and her husband just got through playing golf and was heading home. Barb said, did you forget about Euchre? YES. So her husband dropped her off and we started playing cards.
The chili was great. Al, did you enjoy it? I had a 5-quart crockpot full to the brim and have maybe a cup left for lunch today.
Tonight is Beef and Boards. We are to see 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'. I got an email yesterday B&B saying that lead male and lead female are engaged. They get married every night on the show and when the show and when the show is over, they are going to get married for real!
I haven't heard anything from Lauren and her plastic surgeon appointment. She is very upbeat. I can see her when she gets this all behind her that she will travel around and be a spokesperson for breast cancer! a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m.

Goodness, Etta Sue, you sure had a time getting your card players together, didn't you? All's well that ends well. ;) I sent you an email today which was returned, said your mailbox is full.
Judy, I am really surprised you are having someone else slaughter and clean your chickens. I'm glad, because that is so much work; it's just that you are such do-it-yourselfers, I am surprised. I wouldn't mind raising chickens if someone else would do that part; but we always did it all ourselves. Ugh! :P I sure didn't enjoy it, either.
We got Beth's trailer commpletely cleaned out today, also moved two more refrigerators. Darrel worked on that car a little more.....well, we might eventually get everything ready. I hope.
Needless to say, I am tired...again. See you tomorrow.
Hi everyone. I just got back from choir practice. We had three new folks join our choir this evening, a husband (tenor), wife (soprano) and their son (bass).
I spent over two hours in the dentist chair this morning and early afternoon. Over the weekend I had a filling come out and so I went ahead and made my appointment to get the crown started. There was really no pain involved beyond the slight feeling of a pinch when he numbed my teeth. It also was a couple of hundred less than I had expected as he was able to save some of the old filling and pin in the tooth getting the crown and didn't have to do a buildup (whatever that is). It will be 4 to 5 weeks before I get the permanent crown, which will be a gold one as havea gold one right next to it.
Last night and early this morning we had about 2 inches of rain and it is raining again tonight and suppose to rain periodically clear through the weekend. It is still very green down here in Georgia.
Judy, the Open Office does work with Word documents. You just have to save the Open Office Writer document with the Microsoft Word 97, 2000, XP "save as type" selection.
Good morning! I am up and ready to get to work again. But Darrel hasn't made his appearance yet, glad he is able to sleep. I woke up and knew I wouldn't be going back to sleep. But it is nice that neither of us is having to punch a time clock.
I think today I will concentrate on bringing things down from the upstairs part of the dome. There are lots of good things still up there.
Ruth, we have too much stuff of our own; true, but most of this we are selling was Beth's (she cannot use any of it any more) and Darrel's Mom's (now living in Amarillo at 96 years old) and his brother's (now is South Texas and saying "get rid of it!") So, except for Beth's part, the money will be ours, if any is left after the advertising and the auctioneer's cut. At least the stuff will be gone!!!
Anyhow--best get to it!
It is a cool morning here and I am waiting for Don as he has wanted to take a twice as long morning walk over to a coffee place and read the paper. We have not taken a paper for years but do buy the Sunday paper after church at times as that is an old ritual I do miss. Our one paper is triple biased and it can make me blazing mad so it is best that I keep away from it.
Our grandson (14) has an infection and cannot take hockey tryouts so he is feeling sad. They will put him on one of the teams because the school did invite him for the hockey program but it won't be the advanced team. My theory is that it was meant to be and this will be less stressful and he can work his way up. The Lord is always in control.
Other grandson (13) is in first chair in two music groups & has some solos coming up. We keep praying that Don's hearing will improve at some point to listen to sweet music again. This is a hard rock to swallow.
We went to granddaughter's volleyball game yesterday & she was in there doing her job. She has never cared about any athletics until this year (12) and all of sudden, she has come alive.
Ruth Ann: Praying for funds for you and for the healing of your son's knee.
Janet: I hope you and Darrel do get rid of all that stuff but please take care.
Larry: Nice that you do have rain this year. Two hours - that is what I have next week to sit in the dentist's chair.
Marilyn: I hope you get that banana bread recipe. If not, mention it here and I will look for my favorite one (3 bananas to each loaf). How are the dogs? We have one elderly dog in the family not doing well -she is 96 years old in human life.
Judy: Chickens sure do grow fast. You must have a lot of them and you have taken such good care of the chicks. Enjoy your meat.
On a lighter note - Don has been on a diet and doing well but he eats so differently than I - so I have been eating less myself and more veggies. Very slowly, it is paying dividends! ^-^ Have you ever been mad at a scale?
When I mentioned that there were 400 women at bible study - I meant to say that 400 belong but they are not all there at the same time.
Hi everyone. It is an overcast morning and suppose to have an above 50% chance of rain this afternoon and evening. We lingered at coffee this morning as no one was in a hurry today. I don't have anything on my calendar for today or tomorrow and that is great as can take my time with some computer projects.
I am trying to get the laundry caught up today. Pat is suffered with her foot, not where she had the surgery but over to the side of her big toe and the one next to it. It is not red or anything that we can see under the edge of the bandage but is really making her miserable. She had to take two pain pills last night at bedtime in order to find any level of comfort. It will be a week tomorrow that she had the surgery so hopefully before long the pain will begin to lessen.
Janet, it sounds like your preparations for the sale are doing well. Where I grew up in the midwest it was the custom to have auctions but here in the south, at least in this area, we only have a few auction houses. I guess people can consign with them and all of the things are taken to a central point for auction. I hope you have a big crowd that are in a buying mood.
Etta Sue, hope you enjoyed the play. It sounds like your persistence in finding Euchere players payed off and a good time was had by all.
Judy, I well remember my mother dressing the chickens. However, don't think she ever had quite that many. Fortunately I never had to be the one to start the process but have picked feathers on many a bird when I was at the farm.
Carol, it sounds like your grandchildren are keeping you all busy with sports and music. We had the opportunity to attend only one school event with our granddaughter that occurred when we were visiting in Missouri (where she lived).
Marilyn, it sounds like your dogs are keeping you in good shape with the walking. Hope the bread you were fixing turned out well. I have always liked banana bread.
Ruth, I know that painting window trim isn't an easy job. Hope the project goes well for you.
Gord, it sounds like anxious times with your son awaiting word from his job interview.
OK Kass has had trouble with open office and this is year 2. The school has said it isn't compatible. We have tried and tried and she has lost marks because she cannot print up her work because of the differences. I am too 'puter illiterate' to understand why...I have been told otherwise by many folks . I just don't want to see her loose any more marks because of this.
The chickens are huge. We have 101. Elizabeth is the mother hen and they know her. I have 2 families getting 24 each and one isn't family. Also they are inspected by a government inspector at a slaughter house. I sure don't want that kind of responsibility. We have White Rock chickens, and they are known to put on a huge amount of weight very fast. I am looking forward to the end of this responsibility. Larry I do not want the job of pulling feathers!
John saw the doctor last night at the clinic. HE is continuing to stay off till the end of the month. Then he will be back to work. The feeling is that it is better to stay off the extra to make sure the remaining marks on his leg don't develop into anything that he would need more time off for. So as it stands he will head back on the 27th of this month. I have enjoyed john being home, but not the reason he has been home.
We are heading out today to do some work outside in the meantime. Doug is getting us wood from sources he knows about. between him and good neighbours we will be able to get it all in.
Got to go John is about ready to roll!

Janet, I have no idea why my email came back to you. I check my email 2-3 times a day and clean it out periodically! Re-send it, if you want!
Ya know, it is bad enough that insurances tell us what we have to do. I can't imagine what the future may hold....
My insurance has mail-in service for my RX's. But I can get RX's filled at a local drug store, then two refills but after that I have to go to the mail-in. So CVS has the $9.99 for 90 day supply plan and in January, I asked my urologist to prescribe one of those on that drug plan. Well, that generic drug worked best for me than any drug for that purpose since 1996!! Then I couldn't get anymore refills. I had the urologist give me a new RX for the same thing for mail-in but those drugs aren't working...blue pills instead of white pills but suppose to be the same thing.
So I took my receipt from CVS and the pills from Caremark to CVS yesterday and she said the difference was the manufacturer. So I asked her if I could get them at CVS and she not turn it into my insurance and how much would it cost. Yes! Yes! and Yes! I got 60 day supply for $9.99 yesterday since I still had refills on the ones I were getting!!! I took one pill at 4pm and a noticable difference in an hour or two. So I am a happy camper!!!
The play last evening was great! I love singing and dancing and that's what this was all about!
Tonight is CWF Bible Study. I don't know where the lady lives but it is in a different town so we are to meet at church and car pool! Good idea!>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<

Etta Sue, I'm so glad you got your prescription troubles sorted out. The Lord does look out for His own! ;)
I have the painting half done the rest can wait until next week as I have tomatoes to can and a couple of other pressing jobs for my brother. I was also outside for a while pulling most of the garden plants - I think fall is on the way as things are no longer growing.
Janet: You will be glad to get rid of the clutter.
Speaking of slaughtering her in Ontario there has been regulations in place for some time and I do wonder if sometimes it is going too far yet I do understand why, one person doing too many daily killings can does and has led to sudden death. Doing it Judy B's way at least the animals are inspected and can sold legally.
Marilyn: I hope you have luck getting the good banana bread recipe.
I have also remembered your friend in prayer.
Larry & the rest are keeping really busy by sounds of things.
Dinner this evening will be pork chops on the BBQ along with veg.
Thank you Ruth for praying for my friend. She is a special person and really loves the Lord.
Yawn........I have been awake since 2:00, finally got up and decided to see what was posted since yesterday morning. I really dislike these nights, which are happening all too often lately.....just can't seem to get comfortable to sleep. We were so exhausted by 3:30 yesterday afternoon. I came in, showered and washed my hair and put on my pajamas. I didn't go to bed until after 9, but I am still tired. I surely will be glad when this auction is over.
I just noticed our little dog's bed, full of her toys, still setting here behind Darrel's chair. Poor little Sarah. Someone asked Darrel if he is going to get another dog, and he said he doesn't think so; it hurts too much when you lose them.
It surely does feel like Fall around here! We have had wonderfully cool weather for August and September, and I pray it stays nice for the sale.
We learned yesterday that we won't get to go to Peru on that missions trip, they don't have room for two more people. I am disappointed about that, but as Carol said, there is always a reason. They have 19 going now. They have raised the airfare by $500 per person---wow! That's a big hit.
I am just rambling. Guess I will go back and try to sleep another hour or two.
Janet - when is the actual auction? I pray you'll have God's blessing on that!

Pat How is Geordie today?
Geordie is doing a bit better. He had a seizure the other night but nothing since. He has a good day of eating every OTHER day! LOL Not sure what that's about.
It's been so interesting reading all of your posts.
Hope you do well with those chickens, Judy. Glad John is going back to work.
I will be heading north to Guelph on Sunday with Geordie. I've heard that we're to get a heavy frost tonight and I was hoping to harvest all of my zucchini and tomatoes. Hopefully Andrew may go and pick them for me but if he can't, so be it.
Sorry Pat's foot is still bad, Larry. Take care.

Two things yesterday! Barb told us that Keri's boy-friend gave her a ring so now they are engaged. I am so happy for both of them. Cancer sometimes drives people apart...this cancer brought them together.
And Lauren's surgery is Sept 29th. She is going to have a double-mastectomy followed by reconstructive surgery...like Keri. No lifting for 6 weeks and heavy medication for 6 weeks. She stated that she didn't know how she was going to pay for this surgery. Then said, 'I know! I will write a book!' She will pay for it or find means to have it paid for her.
Did I tell you that Lauren was covered by her father's insurance until she turned 22...that was just July 9th? A month later she discovered a lump and then found out it is cancer.
I went to CWF last night...that's Clarksville Women's Fellowship. We are studying the book of James. Great evening with friends and God's word.(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FFootprints.gif&hash=44496580d083bac067afa63bf86e200c298046a8)

Good Morning, Thank you Pat for let us know how Geordie is doing. I have been praying for both you and Geordie.
I am going to the Cosmetology school to have my nail done this morning, they only have two girls who are good enough to do paying customers and the price is right too as I am trying to cut back on expenses these days. I called Verizon and got our DSL cut back by $21.00 without changing anything. Keith was still paying the original price from years ago and had failed to call in when the new price was offered. So now our phone bill is $21 less than it was.
Janet I have cut back my coffee to just 2 cups in the morning and have been sleeping much better. Have you tried Melantonin, that may help you just enough and is natural.
Hi Al how's it going in Mcville?
Let's all join together in wishing one of our members a Happy Birthday!

Hi everyone and Happy Birthday Jim D.
It is another overcast day here. At coffee this morning a couple of the men said they have had close to 8 inches of rain in the last three days and more is predicted everyday through a week from tomorrow.
I have had a quiet and restful day today. I worked all morning on the music library project for our choir. We have to use old software as that is what the church has and I had trouble getting the Access program installed to build the database. I wrote to our IT person and he sent a reference to a work around, which made no sense to me, but it worked.
Tomorrow I am picking up a friend and we are headed to attend a business meeting in Macon, GA, which is about two hours away. I will be home on Sunday afternoon. I am not taking my computer, unless I change my mind, but will have my iPod Touch where I can stay in touch.
Marilyn, I, too, drink only two cups of coffee in the morning and none the rest of the day. And I take Melatonin.....still can't sleep. I want to try that new one they are advertising that has Melatonin, Valerian Root and something else, all in one capsule. Maybe that would help.
Boy, am I finding a lot of stuff I had forgotten ever owning. :-\ And I have no idea what to do with most of it, either. I moved a whole pickup load of stuff from the big closet in the entranceway of the dome, and another load that was all trash. Of course the trash went into the burn pit. Lots of arts/crafts stuff I had at the store, some still new in the boxes. I will keep only a few things and the rest goes into the sale.
Darrel worked on Beth's trailer, got the rest of the repairs made to the water lines. Now Jim can move in there.
Al, the date for the auction is October 17th. Prayers appreciated!!
I need to go shower; we have decided to go have pizza tonight. Then for sure it will be an early bedtime for me. I might cave and take an ambien, but I sure hate to.
Janet. 3 boxes. one to keep and only if you love it. One for garbage, and one to give away. 15 minutes at a time...then take a water break and then another 15. It does work. Only keep an item if you really LOVE it. No time for sentimentality.
I am going to read more be back later.
And another Happy Birthday from me Jim!

AND MORE HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES FROM ME!!!
Yeah, yeah, Judy..........I get Flylady, too.........but just now, that is NOT helping!! Far too much to deal with in too short a time! I wouldn't even get started in 15 minutes!! And as for sentimentality---I am amazing myself how much I want to just get this stuff away from here!! So we will keep plugging away at it, and by October 20 or so, there should be lots of clear spaces around this place! (Thanks for your suggestions, though, I know you want to help! ;) I really do appreciate your caring.) In a normal situation, Flylady's tricks work wonderfully well, but this is one of those drastic times that calls for drastic measures!
Here I am up way too early again, been up for about three hours already. I didn't take an ambien, but did sleep well until about 2:30 or so. Today is my scrapbooking day, but I am too tired to even think about going.
I think I will head back to bed for a while, see if I can catch a few more ZZZZZZs......
So sorry, Janet that you had a night like that. I don't like having them.
Well, folks, I leave today from Falls Church, VA to head to a granddaughter's birthday party in Berryville, VA and then sleep in Winchester at the new house and then in the morning I'll head north with Geordie to Guelph. I have a medical on Tuesday and so I must be home for it.
No internet yet out in the Winchester so this will be my last post till I get to Canada.

Happy Birthday, Jim! Sorry I am late!!
Another bright and beautiful day in Indiana. We are in need of rain but maybe not. I saw my first farmer combining soy beans yesterday! Early fall!
I am still coughing but not as hard or as often as I was. Hopefully I am about over this cold. Ten days today so it should be on the outs! <_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_>

Etta Sue, I hope you're on the road to full recovery. You know what they say about a cold - see a doctor and get medication and it will last 14 days. Don't bother going to the doctor and the cold will last 2 weeks. ;)
I had plans for today that fell through. :( I was going to join my daughter on a drive to Vermont this afternoon to take my granddaughter to camp, with several other home-schoolers. It would have been probably well into late evening before I got home. But just a few minutes ago my daughter called and said she was staying home with my grandson who woke up with a sore throat and slight fever. My granddaughter will be going with another carload of friends. So our plans for some one-on-one time on the way home from Vermont are cancelled, at least for now. Maybe it will work out better next week when it's time to bring her home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JSTEW!!!
Hope you're having a wonderful time with family!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JSTEW
I have been working out in the garden. We have had our first 2 frosts. I have a load of carrots. I tried a different kind, they have a purple skin. Can't wait to try them. We have a few beats. The soil is too acidic for beets, so we need to put our ashes into the soil in preparation for next year. We also have pumpkins. That is a surprise, we thought all we saw was leaves. Pat you want one for pie? We are going to gather them up on the lawn and give them time to ripen, They are gradually turning orange. I have a box full of green tomatoes. Now this is a problem, what in the world do you do with a box of green tomatoes? Does anyone have any ideas? If they were red We would eat them...yes John and I love tomatoes and we would have them at every meal, including breakfast.
Doug came over with a trailer load of dry wood. Bless him, we were out of dry wood for burning.
Now we're going to get all this food into the house and get it put away. I think I will can the carrots and the few beats.
I will check back for suggestions on what to do with our tomatoes!
Judy make green tomato salsa, and fried green tomatoes.
Judy, make some good old-fashioned chow-chow! (green tomato relish) It is delicious with beans, meats, etc. We love it.
I picked a chocolate pepper a while ago. Chocolate color, but I'll bet it has no resemblance to chocolate flavor! It's a sweet pepper.
Grandson Curtis came up this afternoon, and he and Darrel got Curt's old pickup off our trailer, we need it to put stuff on for the auction. While here, he helped move several heavy things, like an old steel desk and some shelving; also some bookcases from upstairs in the dome....Love that guy! He just had his 25th birthday this week. And he tells me they are expecting another baby in April. The little girl of theirs is celebrating her second birthday tomorrow, so we will be going to Hugoton for her party.
I am tired, sleepy, and hurting all over. I think we will eat a sandwich or something and call it a day.
Thanks to all of you for your kind Happy Birthday wishes and prayers for me! I appreciate each one of them, and you!

Janet what is "the dome". Is it a "Geodesic" dome house?
That's a beautiful quotation, Jim. Thomas Brooks had many of them. Oh that more Christians would read him.
I have all your suggestions for the green tomatoes.... I will let you know what I make. It will be Tuesday before I do anything.
Have a great Lords Day everyone.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Pastor Al. Many of the old Puritans' books are very insightful and really exalt Christ, His love for us, and all He has done and provided for us through His death, resurrection, and ascension. They sometimes get a little long-winded while developing their subjects, but really cover the bases from almost every angle in doing so, and doubly bless the reader in the process.
In your comment, I hear the Lord reminding me that I also need to read Brooks more often. I have a 6 volume HB set of his in my library called, "Works of Thomas Brooks" that I haven't dug into for quite a while now. I also have a couple of single volume books by the Puritan Thomas Manton; one is called "The Beatitudes" and the other is a commentary on Jude (appropriately called "Jude") that are both excellent. :)
Oh, I also used to have a big, thick book by Puritan Thomas Goodwin called "Justifying Faith", but I remember that it was sort of like chewing on nails for me to concentrate on while reading, so I ended up selling it on eBay. ;D
As I recall, it was either too "intellectual" for me or his style of writing was too "Old English-ie" for me to enjoy. :-\
Here are a few thoughts regarding Romans chapter three from William R. Newell's, "Romans, Verse by Verse" that should encourage us believers as we begin the new week:

Judy B. you might try this:
•Wrapping individual green tomatoes in newspaper and layering in a box, no more than 2 layers deep. Place the box in a dark, dry spot and check weekly for progress. It usually takes 3-4 weeks for the green tomatoes to ripen, but check frequently and remove any fruits that show signs of rotting.
I have done this in the past and plan to do it again in a few days. Works quite well........ :)

Oh yes, this is some good stuff to get the week started with alright and it would be ok to get any day of the week started with. Thanks for posting it Jim.
