Morning Devotional...
Peace for Anxious Days

When my daughters were single-digit ages—two, five, and seven—I wowed them with a miracle. I told them the story of Moses and the manna and invited them to follow me on a wilderness trek through the house.
"Who knows," I suggested, "manna may fall from the sky again."
We dressed in sheets and sandals and did our best Bedouin hike through the bedrooms. The girls, on my instruction, complained to me, Moses, of hunger and demanded I take them back to Egypt, or at least to the kitchen. When we entered the den, I urged them to play up their parts: groan, moan, and beg for food.
"Look up," I urged. "Manna might fall any minute."
Two-year-old Sara obliged with no questions, but Jenna and Andrea had their doubts. How can manna fall from a ceiling?
Just like the Hebrews. "How can God feed us in the wilderness?"
Just like you? You look at tomorrow's demands, next week's bills, next month's silent calendar. Your future looks as barren as the Sinai Desert. "How can I face my future?" God tells you what I told my daughters: "Look up."
When my daughters did, manna fell! Well, not manna, but vanilla wafers dropped from the ceiling and landed on the carpet. Sara squealed with delight and started munching. Jenna and Andrea were old enough to request an explanation.
My answer was simple. I knew the itinerary. I knew we would enter this room. Vanilla wafers fit safely on the topside of the ceiling-fan blades. I had placed them there in advance. When they groaned and moaned, I turned on the switch.
God's answer to the Hebrews was similar. Did he know their itinerary? Did he know they would grow hungry? Yes and yes. And at the right time, he tilted the manna basket toward earth.
And what about you? God know what you need and where you'll be. Any chance he has some vanilla wafers on tomorrow's ceiling fans? Trust him.
"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes" (Matthew 6:33-34).
So True. Sometimes we wait for an answer that has been promised and after years, we moan and groan. We forget that God has His own itinerary. I believe....forgive my unbelief.

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus."
Hebrews 12:2
Words & Music: by Ira F. Stanphill
I don't know about tomorrow; I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from its sunshine for its skies may turn to gray.
I don't worry o'er the future for I know what Jesus said;
And, today, I'll walk beside Him for He knows what is ahead.
Refrain
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand.
But, I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand!
Every step is getting brighter as the golden stairs I climb.
Every burden's getting lighter; every cloud is silver-lined.
There the sun is always shining; there no tear will dim the eye.
At the ending of the rainbow where the mountains touch the sky.
Refrain
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand.
But, I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand!
I don't know about tomorrow; it may bring me poverty.
But, the One who feeds the sparrow is the One who stands by me.
And, the path that is my portion may be through the flame or flood,
But, His presence goes before me and I'm covered with His blood.
Refrain
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand.
But, I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand!

A policeman pulled over a car because it was going so slow and walked up to the driver, a little old lady who had three ladies in the back seat. She was clocked at 22 mph and he asked her why she was driving so slowly. She said that she was going the speed limit and the policeman said that the speed limit was 55 mph but he saw the sign that the road name was highway 22. He also noticed that the three women in back were quite pale and asked if anything was wrong. One lady said that they had just got off Highway 159. Get it????
We were back in our church today and then went to pick up a newspaper and doughnut before coming home. This is so silly, but we have to buy the paper at the gas station and the Lamar's doughnut shop does not have a paper but they do have cushy chairs. Sipping coffee, eating a doughnut, and reading the newspaper just go together.
Our son's new roof leaks. He had a different roofer. I hope there isn't a problem. We are getting a new roof too and the roofing owner talked with Don and has asked to come over with help as he (the roofer) wants to start a medical assistance company & that was Don's background. Small world & Don loves to help in any way he can.
Sermon talk was about how easy it is to gripe. Our pastor said he was moved up to First Class on a plane & just loved it & the entire ride others who paid FC were griping and groaning about everything. He reminded us to give thanks.
Yup Carol I got it!
I was here yesterday, looks as if I didn't post, though. Sorry!
How easy it is to gripe--for sure!! I am trying to stop griping about the music (?) at church! But...I looked around yesterday and couldn't see ANYONE singing! All new songs every Sunday, so loud and seem discordant to me. Several were talking about it in the afternoon at Spring Fling, and none like it, but some say we might as well get used to it, as this is the way it's going to be. It's "modern" they say. Whatever happened to harmony, melody? Ah, me.....so hard. I have always loved the music service so much...until lately.
I am working today, will be inquiring what they give Beth in the mornings, and why. I took her to church, and she literally couldn't keep her eyes open the entire service! If it is something she really needs;, can they either give it to her two hours earlier, or after she gets back? It's a lot of work taking her, then she sleeps through the whole service. (In spite of the loud music! ;))
My boss is finally convinced I am serious about wanting to retire!! (Only from that job, though... :)) So she is planning a retirement party for me.
As you can see, I am up early. I'm praying for a wonderful day for all of us, with opportunities to tell others of the goodness of our Lord!

It Will Be Worth It All[/color] (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/whenwese.mid)
Words and music by Esther Kerr Rusthoi
Oft times the day seems long, our trials hard to bear,
We're tempted to complain, to murmur and despair;
But Christ will soon appear to catch His Bride away,
All tears forever over in God's eternal day.
Refrain
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One gliimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.
Sometimes the sky looks dark with not a ray of light,
We're tossed and driven on , no human help in sight;
But there is one in heav'n who knows our deepest care,
Let Jesus solve your problem - just go to Him in pray'r.
Refrain
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One gliimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.
Life's day will soon be o'er, all storms forever past,
We'll cross the great divide, to glory, safe at last;
We'll share the joys of heav'n - a harp, a home, a crown,
The tempter will be banished, we'll lay our burden down.
Refrain
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One gliimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.

So many times we have become overwhelmed with "stuff" that we forget. It WILL be worth it all when we do see Christ!
Hi everyone. The day started out sunny but has clouded up and we have the chance for some rain later today, which we really need. It has been a busy morning as after coffee I went to walk with my friend in the park (the weather was so nice this morning). I then went through the drive-thru at Kroger's pharmacy to pick up and item and finally went to the car wash and had the car cleaned inside and out. Today is our Monday men's luncheon and we are going to an Asian Buffet that we enjoy and is very reasonable. They have over 250 items on their buffet. I also need to make a trip to the bank. This evening I have a meeting to attend so it is going to be a full day. I called the dentist's office this morning and thought I had a 3 pm appointment to start work on the tooth that broke off. However, in a few minutes they called back and said the dentist had something come up and wasn't going to be available today. So I have an appointment in the morning at 8 am. Fortunately the tooth isn't hurting so waiting another day should be fine.
We had a nice time at lunch yesterday with Stacey. We didn't stay very long as she was hurting and tired and wanted to take a nap after getting more pain medicine.
Jeanne, thanks for the devotional thoughts for this week. It reinforces the knowledge that we need to live "One Day at a Time" and let God take care of tomorrow, as he always does.
Judy, you are so right that God's timetable isn't our timetable. The Hymn is so appropriate to the devotional thoughts.
Carol, loved your joke and had to go tell Pat about it. It sounds like Don is going to be able to use his expertiese to help the man. Bad news when a new roof leaks. I know I was a bit concerned after we had our new roof but it seems to be fine. I think the company folded right after they did our work as had tried to contact them again and got no response.
Janet, I agree with you on the music of today. If they would turn down the volume often the words are fine. However, I see no reason to repeat a phrase over and over again. Nice you are going to get a retirement party and that you have decided to retire from that job.
About the music. I have come to love the "new" as well as the old, however I believe the "new" is in the hope to attract the younger generation. I do agree the volume should be turned down. My question is this, Does the new really do what they are hoping? If the words (on the radio, or TV) cannot be heard and understood, then why sing them.
I keep coming back to the verse "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." John 12:32 Even today we are to lift up the name of Christ and let Him do the rest. Does our music, whether old or new do that.
I couldn't agree more relative to the music. Actually, though, the music isn't just intended to do something for those hearing it, but it'supposed to be an expression of the feelings and thoughts of those singing it. When I have worshipful thoughts. they aren't usually expressed blaringly. loudly, and with almost no thought at all. It isn't merely youth that's involved - I'm afraid it's often untaught, careless, and irreverent youth, youth that is possibly unconverted. I don't wish to sound hard, harsh and loveless, but I do think it's something to be dealt with in our largely unspirtual day.
There, soapbox now vacated.

I guess I am fortunate. I like all Christian music...old and new...and don't seem to know the difference until someone 'old' points out that we are repeating the same words over and over. We just have a piano and bass guitar in our church so it isn't louder. Sometimes we have a CD as the background, which I truly enjoy because it is more than a piano and guitar. And I do believe it brings the younger people. Words? They all are glorifying God...even if they are repeated over and over. That's my opinion.
As for replying to everyone's post....ditto to Larry's post!
I just got a call from my doctor's office in response to my calling them this morning and asking for samples for my cholesterol meds. I have a huge deductible and until I hit it, these meds would cost me $364 for three months. As soon as a medical procedure is met, my deductible will be met...but I need to go pick up these samples today!
No new news of Jacob today. Maybe no therapy yesterday.
It is a lovely day today. I have no heat or a/c on and I have a window open a little since it is very windy! A beautiful windy April day! a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m.

Well .... I will try again! ::) So many times, this past week, I have started a post to respond to all who have commented about the improvement in Becky's living situation and Bryan's taking on of the responsibility, only to be interrupted by a phone call from someone who feels like talking! :yakyakyak: It is really difficult to type a message to y'all and keep attention on the caller... I'm not good at multi-tasking. :-\
Becky and Karmen have been really enjoying their new living environment. Becky cooks and bakes and I'm sure Bryan is happy to be the recipient of it all! :D Joy has been helpful in driving them around, gathering up such necessities as car seats, diaper pails, bath supplies .... you get the picture. When Becky expressed surprise and gratitude, Joy told her it was a baby shower. Becky said she'd never had a shower ... well we know that ... she was homeless when Karmen was born.
Joy and John have decided to postpone their trip to Mexico until this fall, so that means Bryan will have his own mother to join with his grandma, aunt, three cousins and three second cousins, for Mother's Day! Should be an eventful day. :)
The only glitch in everything (but really not so terrible) is that Bryan's truck is in the shop ... again! >:( He has had a lot of trouble getting it -- and keeping it -- up and running. He substitutes his bicycle for transportation, but it's a bit complicated for carrying groceries or when it is raining, as it has been lately. That's where it's very helpful to have Joy within driving distance.
Speaking of rain ... we have it here, on the Oregon coast most of the time. I don't mind it, in fact I rather enjoy it. Just so I don't have leaks in my roof ... or elsewhere ... and my car is in good working order. :)
I have a few items to get ready and/or purchase in the next few days, and I'll be on my way south in time to be in the Sacramento area for Mother's Day and a good visit with family. Hoping to connect with Jean's kids and their families while there, but this is an iffy situation. It has been quite a long while since this has happened. :-\
Well I am finally here to add my two cents to the music discussion. At the church in McKinleyville the music has been so loud for the last 5 years that when I lived there I wore earplugs during the song service, When I go there now I don't even know most of the songs and the music is till so loud it hurts my ears. The sound is all controlled on the sound board at the back of the church and I have complained a lot of times to no avail. Those who wear hearing aid do not wear them to church anymore.
Over the weekend I created and uploaded 2 new webpages on the latter page there are a couple of cute tags I made for you to download and use, one is "Happy Birthday", one is blank and one says "Thank you". They are zip files and will download if you click on the tag itself. This is the tag page (http://mychallenges.x10.mx/8/8.html)
This is the other page (http://grafxandmore.x10.mx/63/63.html) some of the pages do not work well in Firefox so much be opened IE
One more comment about the music: Yes, most of the words are fine, it's just the blaring, loud music that hurts our ears that bothers so much. And I would like to sing at least ONE familiar song per weel! As I told you before, Darrel mentioned it to the pastor, and said we might be looking for another church if this didn't change. His response: We will miss you! :'( I am trying hard to not complain, to enter into worship in spite of disliking the music so much, but it is hard. Help me, Jesus!
Work today was fine. I just got home after working 8 1/2 hours, and am feeling the need for a little nap! ;)
God bless you all! Thanks for the comments, now I don't feel it is just Darrel and me. (About the music.)
Janet, I think your plan for retirement is GREAT! It's hard to continue to work many hours ('specially when we're "of a certain age")! ;)
Today's trip was to take someone to the eye doctor, then a visit with friends at a quiet little restaurant. The lady I took loved her food so much she ate every bite - quite unusual for her. :)
Now, to rest a bit, then get ready for that early morning doctor appointment - yuck, it has to be a fasting blood draw this time. :(
Y'all have a great rest of the day,
Ruth Ann
Well with all the comments on music, I sure hope you are enjoying the selections I am making here on CP!!!
Judy, you made me smile! How our old human nature likes to see if comments (especially negative ones) are aimed at US! And of course, nobody was referring to the music here! Even if they were, they don't have to listen to it, they can scroll on by! NONE of the old hymns are ever played nor sung at my church any more, and there are so many that I love. Now, you just smile and go on posting songs! <3
Housecleaning lady comes this morning for her two hours, so we were just discussing what needs most to be done. If I get busy and work that same two hours, a lot gets done. I work a lot harder and faster than she does, but I still appreciate the help, and we just give donations to the Senior Center to help pay her. She only comes two hours every two weeks.
Beth has a dental appointment this morning to get some of those teeth filled. They are doing better about brushing her teeth now, and I have had to buy more anti-cavity mouthwash for her, so know they are using that, too.
AND....I want to get in there and finish up some painting today! I have the 'bug' again, now that my space is finally usable once more! I have a few unfinished items from my painting group meetings I'd like to finish and get put away somewhere where they can be used. I hav e finished several things already in this last week.
I slept until after 6 this morning! Wow! But by doing that, I missed listening to Joseph Prince and Andrew Wommack, and they are both such excellent teachers of the Word. :)
Talk to you later!
Judy - your selections have been greatt!
And, though I said I was getting off the soapbox, I'll add just another thought: remember that fairly recent song that went, "Something beautiful, something good; all my confusion He understood. All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife, but He made something beautiful out of my life!"?
Well, He did do that, you know, and now I want to offer Him something beautiful. Does that mean something discordant, exceptionally loud, and repeated repeatedly? I don't think so.
1!
But then again, we're told to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord". Doesn't say it needs to be soft or harmonious or operatic, only joyful and a noise. :D Which is not saying I enjoy those loud repetitious verses that go on and on without any noticeable melody.
I would love to hear from our younger and also newer members on this topic. I know everything they youth do is LOUD. In most cases that I have experienced, they are joyful. However not all of the new Christian Contemporary Music even mentions our Lord, so how can it be called "Christian"? That is the main contention I have with our local radio station. If it is composed by a Christian singer does that automatically make the music Christian? I don't think so.
I was raised on the hymns of Ira D. Sankey and find I miss them as we worship in our church.

I have several items to take care of today but with aging perhaps tomorrow but then does tomorrow ever come so it had better get done today.
About the music selections here on CP they are beautiful and if we find them too loud or not loud enough we have the volume control button to solve that.
Has the installation of speakers in our churches lead to all of the volume issues ?
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FCats3.gif&hash=946134bfe80ffc67e9785028563c07064c1dd8da)
Hey! I have a solution! Why don't you all move to my area and attend my church? We don't have room for a band on the stage so our music isn't loud. It may be repetitious but they still glorify God. Think about it.
Once we had a pianist substitute. She played the old style way of playing the piano. I didn't know which note to sing...so may trills and runs. That's what bothers me. But again...remember I am lyric illiterate. I really have to concentrate of what those words are meaning. I can chew gum and walk at the same time but I can't sing and concentrate on the meaning of the words! I will be able to do that in Heaven... :angel2:
I went to the pool today and then to Good Will to stock up on books to read. I told Ivalou that when she sees my car in the drive to call me when she is ready to go out to lunch. She is having Euchre today and figured this would give her a rest as well as not dirty up her kitchen again.
We both had a huge hunk of meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy and buttered corn! Really good. We both cleaned our plates!
Now to go play Euchre this afternoon.
Jacob had a smaller trach put in with a voice piece on it so when he does try to talk, he will be heard. Therapist are trying to encourage him to follow commands but nothing so far. It isn't God's timing. >^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<

Hi everyone. I was gone all morning and have just gotten up from a rest this afternoon and just noe took a couple of tylenol as had a dental appointment this morning to have my broken tooth tended to and am just now feeling the soreness. When they looked at the x-rays and digital pictures they pointed out that the tooth next to it was a cracked and it was one full of filling that appeared dark grey. They recommended that I go ahead and have a crown done for that tooth as well and it make sense to me. Fortunately, root canals were not required on either tooth. It took them about 2 1/2 hours to get to the temporary crowns and will go back in three weeks for the permanent crowns. It was interesting trying to eat with a numbed upper lip. I experienced absolutely no pain this morning which is pretty amazing, including the shots to deaden the area. I then went a meeting I had this morning and that will pretty well be it for today. Pat has a book club meeting this evening and when she gets home we will go out to eat somewhere.
Thank you, each of you, for coming here - now that I've heard from my CP family, I can proceed with cooking for a meal at church tonight. :)
Isn't it wonderful to be able to worship with both the christian hymns and the newer choruses! Thankfully, God will bless us through His holy Word, and also through the other elements involved in our communication with Him and service to others on His behalf. :) (Judy and others, thank you so much for enlivening my worship at the computer through the wonderful music. I just wish I knew how to set my player so it will repeat.)
Today, I had a most extraordinary experience. If not too tired when I return from Bible study, then I'll tell it to y'all. But, just a little preview of the first hour and a half of my morning, my doctor says to "return for your next checkup in 3 months," SOOOO, I figure he thinks I'm going to live at least that long.
So long until later!
Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann: I hope you are not too tired after bible study. What can this surprise be????
Larry: It is scarey when a someone works on your house and then goes out of business. I hope everything is alright. Our roofers are having a tea for all the ladies and another roofing company wants to take everyone to a lunch at Mon Ami (a French cafe nearby). We are being wined and dined.
Janet: That is difficult for you and especially when Beth is so tired that she sleeps through the service. Bless you. Is the message recorded anyway so she could listen at times when it is bad weather to take her out or other reasons? Gosh, that message from the pastor sounded so short & snappy and it would be good if you can talk to him another time - maybe he didn't mean it. Being a secretary for a two churches, I can tell you that everything is dumped on the pastor and maybe he did not mean to answer so short. Maybe a lot of others feel the same way about the music. We go to a church in AZ where the woman leading the choir & other music has about taken over the service with her lengthy productions but we are not about to say a thing. It, of course, is a mismash for Don to hear with his problem. That is all - I have been thinking of you. Stay safe from those dreadful storms.
Easter, our church had over 14,000 in attendance at an outdoor place and symo-cast at the church itself. They set a record of bringing almost two tons of food for the food bank. Those who attend church are far more generous than the average person.
Jane: You will have to make a visit with all that joy going on. It is so great to hear your happiness.
Al: Good to see your post. Back in the groove again, our personal pastor Al.
Etta Sue you had that wonderful lunch and made my mouth water...Real comfort food in my books!
I a, glad you enjoy the hymns. As Ruth said you can control the volume yourselves which is a benefit. I guess I am one of the crazy people who likes the music cranked. John follows me around turning the volume down only to have me crank it up again!. LOL
Working on one of the rooms that we are renovating. Hopefully it work will be done soon. We are moving a 4 piece bath upstairs, and that will save the near spills on the stairs at night.
Have a great evening folks!
I've been busy with family issues, so have not written in here lately. However, I do like reading the entries ... so have been interested in the comments about the music. I have some mixed feelings about music. I enjoy most music as long as it is honoring to God ... and sometimes I like it loud too, but usually that is when I am in the car driving, not when I am in church. We have a very small church, and have a wonderful pianist, and we sing a mixture of hymns and choruses. However, we also visit our childrens' churches, and they are geared more to the younger generation. I usually enjoy the singing there too ... they have drums, trumpets, electric keyboards, etc... but the volume is not super loud and I believe that what they are singing is honouring to God too. Often they include hymns in their worship times too, which probably helps some of us older generation people (I think I'm starting to fit into this criteria). I'm not sure how people feel who go there all of the time, but I know that it can be refreshing for us.
I've had a pretty long, but productive day, and now am ready to sleep! But first, I will read today's scripture portion. I may have some good news to share in a few days concerning things at the care home.
Good night! Sleep tight! Don't let the bed bugs bite!
But if they do, then squeeze them tight, so they won't bite tomorrow night!

Wonderful Words of Life (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/wonderful-words-of-life.mid)
(Click to hear music)
"You shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life." Philippians 2:15-16
Words & Music: Philip P. Bliss.
I carried that song through two seasons of evangelistic work, never thinking it possessed much merit, or that it had the element of special usefulness, particularly for solo purposes. It occurred to me to try it one day during the campaign in New Haen, [Connecticut, 1878,] and, with the help of Mrs. Stebbins, we sang it as a duet. To our surprise the song was received with the greatest enthusiasm and from that time on to the close of the meetings was the favorite of all the hymns used. As an illustration of the hold it got upon the people all about that section of the country, I received a letter from the Secretary of the Connecticut State Sunday School Association offering me what seemed an absurdly large sum of money, if I would, with Mrs. Stebbins, come to the State Convention and sing that one song.
Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life,
Let me more of their beauty see, wonderful words of life;
Words of life and beauty teach me faith and duty.
Refrain
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life,
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.
Christ, the blessèd One, gives to all wonderful words of life;
Sinner, list to the loving call, wonderful words of life;
All so freely given, wooing us to heaven.
Refrain
Sweetly echo the Gospel call, wonderful words of life;
Offer pardon and peace to all, wonderful words of life;
Jesus, only Savior, sanctify us forever.
Refrain

It is unusual that I am first here to say Good Morning! I pray your day is blessed.
It is cold here and we are expecting more snow this weekend, yuck, I really wish summer would come.
I have a lot to get done today so I am off. Have a trip planned to North Bay today but have to get "stuff" done first.
HAve a great day
Thanks, Judy! That's another of my favorite old songs!
I'm here, just haven't posted until now.
The Lord has been convicting me about my attitude toward the music. I'm not sure what He wants me to do, but for now, I guess He means to 'zip it!' So I will. One thing I do know--our church has exploded with new people since Phil came, and the young people in particular, are coming. Does that mean they enjoy the music? Could be.
I finished two more painting projects yesterday! Two more to go and I will be caught up in that area..yippee!! :D ;D
We have a lovely day today, the sun is shining, God's in His heaven, and all's right with the world! (Judy, don't send us any of that snow!)
I didn't realize you could click on the music and actually hear it--- duh!
Probably because I wasn't allowed to listen to it - Rock & Roll is kinda fun for me, can you imagine? I love music and I know Don does because he had his own band that earned him a college scholarship. We do go to grandson's Jazz Band and Symphony concerts but that is about all except what we listen to in church.
Janet: So interesting on your church membership exploding and I do feel that more modern music brings in the younger crowd. It has to be the pastor too. I have read that Evangelical churches are the fastest growing everywhere.
Our good friends are going to stop by for a visit as they make their way to Minnesota - he will have a newer kind of chemo so they are coming here at the end of this month. Bringing their new doggie who is well behaved.
Janet you are really going fast on getting caught up. When you retire, you will have (hopefully) more time to do more,
Carol good to have your opinion, there are many different idea and opinions on the subject of music. I don't think anyone is wrong, as the consensus is that we are to praise and glorify God.
Be back later.
Hi, friends, I'll gather my thoughts and share about yesterday morning.
First, the lady who was to lead the singing called the night before with a bad sore throat. No song leader... :o
When I asked that she check with the man who was scheduled to play piano, she said he had a doctor's appointment. No pianist... :o
Wow! I was so very thankful to get back to my apartment parking lot at 9:20 am, when usually I'm unable to return home until about noon following each 8 am appointment. Great! A pianist had shown up... ;)
Thankfully, I can sing a capella, so planned to have a song for a solo "just in case" ...
At 9:55, our speaker had not come, so I called him quickly from the piano bench where I had been playing the prelude. "Oooops!!! Ruth Ann, I forgot I was to be there!! So, I suggested we begin without him, and he could get there to speak. That we did.
Before the service, a sweet old saint of God said that he had been asked to lead the singing. Now, this wonderful, godly man is almost 95 and his hearing isn't the best. Well, we sang along, and if he wandered from the tune, most folks remained singing the true melody.
He wanted me to accompany him as he sang an old song from literally back before I was born. So, I sight read it quickly, decided I could follow him, got him started on the correct note, then simply played runs and chords as he sang his heart out for our Lord. Oh, what a BLESSING!!
God impressed me to sing an old song I learned as a 10 year old when asked to play for a white haired song evangelist who was singing in a revival at our church:
By Oswald J. Smith and B. D. Ackley
Copyright, 1937, by the Rodeheaver Co.God understands your sorrow,
He sees the falling tear,
And whispers, "I am with thee,"
Then falter not, nor fear.
God understands your heartache,
He knows the bitter pain;
O, trust Him in the darkness,
You cannot trust in vain.
God understands your weakness,
He knows the tempter's pow'r;
And He will walk beside you
However dark the hour.
Refrain:He understands your longing,
Your deepest grief He shares,
Then let Him bear your burden,
He understands, and cares.
I sensed the minister would be later than we thought, and no one was willing to "moderate" our discussion, so I asked if some of those in attendance (we usually have between 10 and 25 per service) would like to share with us.
A dear sweet lady who is much younger than most of us, stood and recounted how her faith has stayed rock-solid, firmly on the solid ground of her faith in God and her salvation as she is being pre-treated for a very aggressive type of breast cancer before her mastectomy. Please remember Debbie in your prayers, for she faces a long road ahead. This, while she is her father's caretaker - he suffers from Parkinson's disease, and her mother is now in the last stages of Alzheimer's disease.
Then the sweet elderly song leader gave a ringing testimony as to how his family were sustained as, in only one week, two of his brothers died (ages 17 and 12) and were buried in a joint funeral, and their father died the next day. What GRIEF! Yet, they were upheld by His strong right hand.
Next, a tiny little lady stood and told how she had taught her children in the faith and read the Bible to them every day. One day she learned her daughter and boyfriend (long away from family and faith) had purchased a Bible and were studying it, the next day, this daughter died, a newborn Christian!
Well, by then everyone was beaming and heads were nodding in agreement - one couple are retired missionaries, etc.
As the minister arrived, he finished with a wonderful reading of the passages dealing with "I am the vine and ye are the branches."
What a grateful heart went with us as we left, shaking hands and sharing hugs all around!
God is GOOD --- ALL THE TIME!Ruth NN

I'm late! First, I slept in way too long. The phone woke me and it was a person asking me to vote for Susan Brooks! I don't know Susan Brooks so probably wont. I ate my breakfast, read my devotions and checked my email.
I had asked Kitty if she would like to go to the movie theater and see 'Mirror, Mirror!'. She said she could this afternoon. So I checked the time for the movie and what time it was then and emailed her back, asking if she could be here by 1:30pm. She wrote back and said, Yes!
So then I put on warmer clothes, mowed the yard, showered and washed my hair and had a quick lunch of leftovers from Ivalou's Euchre. I don't know how I missed Kitty driving in but suddenly the doorbell was ringing.
Off we went to the movie! The previews were atrocious!! And they were meant for kids!! One was 'Paranormal'....message was, you can't succeed being normal! What!! :idiot: Another was so violent, I would never let a little kid watch! Mirror, Mirror was good, I thought. More about the Wicked Queen than Snow White. I kept looking at the costumes and the graphics! Great movie.
Then we came back here and chatted for awhile. Kitty is gone now, I have gotten the mail and now catching up online!!
Another beautiful day in Indiana. Hardly any wind and not a cloud in the sky! High 60's. Great day! (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FFootprints.gif&hash=44496580d083bac067afa63bf86e200c298046a8)

Ruth Ann That was marvelous! What a day!
This is a favourite Contemporary Christian Music song...
God's Not Dead
Let love explode
And bring the dead to life
A love so bold
To see a revolution somehow
Let love explode
And bring the dead to life
A love so bold
To bring a revolution somehow
Now I'm lost in your freedom
And this world I'll overcome
My God's not dead
He's surely alive
He's living on the inside
Roaring like a lion
My God's not dead
He's surely alive
He's living on the inside
Roaring like a lion
He's roaring
He's roaring
He's roaring like a lion
Let hope arise
And make the darkness hide
My faith is dead
I need a resurrection somehow
Now..
Now I'm lost in your freedom
Now..
And this world I'll overcome
My God's not dead
He's surely alive
He's living on the inside
Roaring like a lion
My God's not dead
He's surely alive
He's living on the inside
Roaring like a lion
He's roaring
He's roaring
He's roaring like a lion
He's roaring
He's roaring
Let Heaven roar
And fire fall
Come shake the ground
With the sound of revival
Let Heaven roar
And fire fall
Come shake the ground
With the sound of revival¦
My God's not dead
He's surely alive
He's living on the inside
Roaring like a lion
My God's not dead
He's surely alive
He's living on the inside
Roaring like a lion...
He's roaring
He's roaring
He's roaring like a lion¦
Roaring like a lion
Yes there is a lot of repetition, but the words really speak to me, Our God is not dead.
Hi everyone. I almost always post in the morning but it just didn't work out that way today and I almost forgot I hadn't been here. Right after coffee we went to Bible study as had missed the last two weeks. It was good to be with our good friends. We then went over to Dunkin' Donut and enjoyed another hour of visiting. On the way home we picked up a couple of grilled childen sandwiches at Wendy's. I then took a nap and at 3 pm the rehab center called for a care plan conference. We couldn't really hear the lady very well and we couldn't understand the necessity of us participating anyway as Stacey is not memory impaired and makes her own decision so we thanked the lady for the opportunity but did not go on with the conference. Stacey got the stitches out of her hip today to her great relief. She also learned she will be in rehab until a week from tomorrow. She also told us that there was a water leak three floors above her apartment that had caused water damage down to the 5th floor. It got her recliner and the special chair that massages her legs wet. They are suppose to get Stanley Steamer in to dry things out and will clean the carpets, which badly need it since she has to drive her wheelchair on the carpet.
I think I will pass on individual comments this evening as am working from my iPad (using a blue tooth keyboard) but it is not easy to scroll back. However, will note these were very good postings today.
Ruth Ann, thank you for taking us to church with you! What a lovely and inspiring service you had,,,,praise God!
I have stayed busy today. Darrel made a cherry pie yesterday and before I even saw it, he ate HALF of it! He said he was hungry for pie, and I told him he should have made it several days ago if he was THAT hungry for it. I ate some, then this morning took the rest to my friend who is on dialysis as I know they both LOVE cherry pie!
I got my order of mat boards today, and got a real shock when I looked at the invoice. It has been quite some time since I had to order, and boy, have the prices increased! :o I got two of the pieces started, the mats are all cut for one and the next ready. No frames yet so I can't finish any of them. If they wait too long to send me some new corner samples I will have to look elsewhere for frames! And....I got more painting projects done!! Now, I think the only thing I lack is to repair the painting of little Lexi that I messed up. :(
Went to see Beth but didn't stay long as she was getting ready to go play Bingo.
Now I will make a grilled cheese sandwich and plan to go to bed early tonight!
BEAUTIFUL day here today!! Thank you, Father!
Oops--hello, Larry! You hit post as I was proof reading!
I think y'all would love to visit our little get togethers in the multi-purpose room downstairs in the public area. Those who attend are varied - some do not attend worship service at all, others attend their churches faithfully, one walks painfully in with a walker, one elderly man (94) rolls his walker in and sits in it (sometimes dozing), several use canes, and all come in faith expecting a blessing.
And!! Surprise...we don't take an offering - all the time by every person is donated. One lady arranges for the speakers, someone else hooks up the sound system, we sing from donated hymnals, and all really enjoy their time. Usually it only lasts about 50 minutes, so it makes a lovely break from lives sometime without relatives and few friends. I'll see if I can find a photo of that nice room and ask someone to post it for me. Bookshelves line the large room, two rows of mahogany "library" tables give plenty of space for folks to gather, play cards, work puzzles, etc., Then there's the chairs lined up with an aisle beween for those who come to have Bible study or were informative seminars are presented. And, a piano. Finally, several large leather couches and loveseats provide comfortable space for chatting (and there's even a tiny kitchen which allows for little family gatherings, etc.)
Oh, yes, and we have a large flat screen tv for special events and for the Saturday afternoon free movies. As you exit, you can purchase candy/crackers/sodas from 2 machines.
A really nice multi-purpose room.
Y'all have a nice evening.
Ruth Ann, that room does sound lovely.
It's 4:30 AM and I seem to be finished sleeping......been awake for about two hours, so gave it up and got up.
Well, I will get to hear my programs! If I don't fall asleep in my chair, which would be all right, too.
Have a wonderful, God-blessed day, everyone!
Well, we went yesterday to Winco, the local warehouse-type superstore and did our weekly grocery shopping. We save about 20 percent on almost every item by going there. It was my first time since the skilled nursing center. I used a motorized cart, and Marbeth walked around with me. We did ok, got everything, and got back out to the car ok. The only bad thing was, I had to let Marbeth take everything into our place and put it away, as I can't carry things and use the walker at the same time. If I can once get to the place where I can get along without the walker, that will change. But she was glad to have me there anyway, so I guess it was worth it.

Praise the Saviour, Ye Who Know Him
(Click to hear music)
We thank Thee,
and praise Thy glorious Name.
1 Chronicles 29:13
Words: Thomas Kelly
Music: Acclaim, traditional German melody
Praise the Savior, ye who know Him!
Who can tell how much we owe Him?
Gladly let us render to Him
All we are and have.
Jesus is the Name that charms us,
He for conflict fits and arms us;
Nothing moves and nothing harms us
While we trust in Him.
Trust in Him, ye saints, forever,
He is faithful, changing never;
Neither force nor guile can sever
Those He loves from Him.
Keep us, Lord, O keep us cleaving
To Thyself, and still believing,
Till the hour of receiving
Promised joys with Thee.
Then we shall be where we would be,
Then we shall be what we should be,
Things that are not now, nor could be,
Soon shall be our own.

Words and Music by Mosie Lister
Mark 4:39
"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
Peace be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."
In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,
While the storm howl above me, and there's no hiding place.
'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.
Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.
Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try,
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"
But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies.
Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.
When the long night has ended and the storms come no more,
Let me stand in Thy presence on the bright peaceful shore;
In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I
Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.
Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Al, it's surely good to see your post this morning! Sounds as if you are doing just great! And, maybe you could find one of those walkers that have a basket on them, then you could carry some stuff along. Sometimes you can find used things like that, but you know better where in your community that might be. Our Senior Center has them and loans them to whoever is needing them, free of charge. Nice service, one among many they provide for us. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on the political scene now.......
I have stripped the bed and remade it, washed the sheets, paid a pile of bills....guess I can go to my studio now!
Darrel is going to town for hamburger, he is making chili for our small group meeting tonight.

What a great multi-purpose room! I do believe I have been there now thanks to Ruth Ann's description!
And thank you, Janet. I now have an Easy Cherry Cobbler in the oven!!
Talk about the power of suggestion!

Thanks, Janet, for the suggestions. Your'e absolutely right about the walkers with baskets - that would help a little. I haven't seen any recently. We have a senior center here and one in Arcata (the next town over), but neither of them have things like that. Maybe the one in Eureks would have some things like that - I don't know 'cause we don't get over that way very often. What I'd like to do is to wean my way off of rhe walker altogether, and I think, in time, I will.
I know what I need right now - a second cup.
Al check the Senior Center in Mcville they have a room with all kinds of stuff you can borrow.
Hi everyone. It has been a relaxed and enjoyable morning and have had a nice rest after lunch. After coffee I made a fast stop at the Post Office, Kroger's and the ATM machine at the bank. Since I got home I have been working on a number of small projects including working up more photos for the Senior Golden Games and putting them on the Games webpages. Later this afternoon I plan on going with Pat to the grocery where we buy meat. We will both use the riding carts as it is a big store but I can stand easily and will be her legs and she can make the decisions on what meat to buy, etc. It is really bothering her to try to shop. Stacey is now doing twice a day therapy.
I think I mentioned my good friend who had been told he has the human equivalent of mad cow disease. He saw his doctor yesterday and got the good news that the second spinal tap came back negative for that disease. The MRI shows he has suffered a series of mini-strokes that probably are causing the problems he is experiencing. What a relief as it should mean many more years of life rather than a death sentence that the earlier diagnosis would have met. A little bit ago I got another short e-mail from him and it is like reading something written by a different person-such a joy.
Janet, I haven't had a piece of cherry pie in a long time. I don't think there is anything that hasn't gone up in price. It is a shock each time we go to the grocery or places like Walmart.
Ruth Ann, I didn't know you could have a worship service and not take an offering. :) It sounds like you have a very fine group who get together for worship. The description of the room makes it sounds very warm and friendly and comfortable.
Al, that must have been a wonderful lift to your spirits to be able to go to Winco. I sure wish we had a place like that around here. I guess the closest I know is our Aldi's store where we do save a considerable bit but the selections are very limited as it is a relatively small store (about which I am certainly not complaining). There are just three isles and they are not terribly long.
-
Yes, Larry, our Winco is really great. But it IS large. You can easily walk a mile on one shopping trip. Thankfully, with the motorized cart, it's easy enough. The only trouble with it is that they absolutley will not let you take the groceries out to your car on one of the motorized carts. So, after bagging it all up, you have tp put it into one of the regular carrs to take it out to the car. Thankfully, I have Marbeth wirth me to do that part.
How great to hear from y'all this early morning. I awoke about 3 am (actually from a 2 hour "nap" since someone called at 10 pm and hung up at 1 am), couldn't go back to sleep, so I came to the computer.
Yesterday was one of those busy days. Lots of driving was involved, and a really loud noise in one location set off earaches and a bad headache. So, bed and nightgown were welcome well before dark yesterday! No sleep, but that rest felt so good.
I've decided I want to try to download some of the wonderful hymns to my own computer, so when I want peace and worshipful time while at the computer, I can make up a playlist and use it. Thank you to each of you who has posted the great hymns.
Oh, yes, Al, my sister in law has to use a walker, and she takes two tote bags (very cheap in most stores around here), and then she shops, she puts 1 plastic grocery bag in each tote bag, runs her wrists through the handles, and is able to actually walk more securely with the bit of added weight helping balance her walker and make it feel more secure for her. Another idea would be to take a couple of lengths of string or yarn with you, and loop them through the grocery sack handles, then tie them to each side of the walker. And, she uses a sort-of cloth portfolio on the front of the walker into which she can place her wallet, checkbook, etc. rather than carrying a purse.
Aren't those electric shopping carts WONDERFUL!! Twelve years ago the neurologist found that there's no communication between my muscles and nerves in my legs. Y'all will remember how badly bruised I was when I was at the Bash in Atlanta when I fell flat on my face on the paved road. We laughed at the time and said that the road rose up to greet me. :) Well, it turns out that all those face forward falls with no warning was the result of this disability. So, I agreed to never shop in a large store where carts are not available to ride. So, no more mall walks for me, but since I've known about this, I've only fallen once, and that was from going down stairs, not falling forward.
Thanks be to God for those who make our lives easier - now we have rolling walkers, electric wheelchairs, shower chairs, implants for our eyes after cataract removal, hearing aids and so many more. These conveniences have caused me to pray constantly for those who are blessed with the vision and ability to develop these new techniques. Imagine - in the old books we can read of the elders who seemed to "get the vapors" or have to literally take to their beds, when now these can be treated for quite a while. What reason for gratitude to our Heavenly Father who made us with ingenuity and skills, each individually tailored to His plan for us and for others.
And, I think of Beth, who, while increasingly handicapped, has chosen to change her attitude, which makes being with her a joy. Thank you, Janet, for sharing with us.
Each person who contributes here with comments, prayer requests, praises, experiences, beautiful photos, managing this website, etc., should know how thankful I am that we "met" and get together at this wonderful site.
I will try to make another contribution to help Pat and Paul as they keep this site running for us. God bless you!
Much love to everyone,
Ruth Ann
p.s. Maybe I can "rest my eyes" since I've been here with my christian friends. May He richly bless each of you today.
Hi everyone. I have a few minutes before needing to pick up my neighbor so we can go to coffee at the senior center. My quiet day yesterday turned out not to be so quiet but it was enjoyable. After working on various projects yesterday morning I went to the grocery store with Pat as planned and then as soon as I got home I went other to a friends house and helped them with some questions on their new computer and using the external hard disk I had been able to put together for them using their old hard disk from the computer that failed. Today is the ROMEO's men's luncheon but do not plan to attend as Friday's is one of the days that Pat gets priority on the car and probably won't have other transportation available. I still have several items on my to-do list I will work on today.
Al, Winco must have had bad experiences with folks taking the powered carts out into the parking lot. Do they have someone who can help you get your purchases to your car?
Ruth Ann, I can't imagine talking to someone on the phone for 3 hours. I think my ear would fall off in that time. The riding carts are very helpful. Both Pat and I used them yesterday and it worked out well as Pat said she wouldn't have been able to make it around the store on foot. I ended up the shopping not being exhausted. When needed I could get off the cart to pick up and item for a case or shelf and she could make the decision about it. I think we will have to do this in the future when we go to Walmart as well and stay away from other stores that are large but don't have the carts. Sure glad you have cut down the number of falls you are experiencing.

Beneath the Cross of Jesus (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/beneath-the-cross-of-jesus.mid)
(Click to hear music)
May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 6:14
Words: Elizabeth C. Clephane, 1868; published posthumously in the Family Treasury, a Scottish Presbyterian magazine, in 1872, titled "Breathing on the Border." The magazine's editor, W. Arnot, wrote: These lines express the experiences, the hopes and the longings of a young Christian lately released. Written on the very edge of life, with the better land fully in view of faith, they seem to us footsteps printed on the sands of time, where these sands touch the ocean of Eternity. These footprints of one whom the Good Shepherd led through the wilderness into rest, may, with God's blessing, contribute to comfort and direct succeeding pilgrims.
Music: "St. Christopher," Frederick C. Maker, in the Bristol Tune Book, 1881
Beneath the cross of Jesus I fain would take my stand,
The shadow of a mighty rock within a weary land;
A home within the wilderness, a rest upon the way,
From the burning of the noontide heat, and the burden of the day.
O safe and happy shelter, O refuge tried and sweet,
O trysting place where Heaven's love and Heaven's justice meet!
As to the holy patriarch that wondrous dream was given,
So seems my Savior's cross to me, a ladder up to heaven.
There lies beneath its shadow but on the further side
The darkness of an awful grave that gapes both deep and wide
And there between us stands the cross two arms outstretched to save
A watchman set to guard the way from that eternal grave.
Upon that cross of Jesus mine eye at times can see
The very dying form of One Who suffered there for me;
And from my stricken heart with tears two wonders I confess;
The wonders of redeeming love and my unworthiness.
I take, O cross, thy shadow for my abiding place;
I ask no other sunshine than the sunshine of His face;
Content to let the world go by to know no gain or loss,
My sinful self my only shame, my glory all the cross.

I was quite surprised when I went to see Beth yesterday, as she was lying on her bed. It has been years since I saw her lie down during the daytime; not since she recovered from the last near-death trip to Wichita. She said her shoulder had been hurting really bad and they had given her a Lortab for pain. But she was still in a good mood, and I read her three stories from the Chicken Soup for the Dog and Cat Lover's Soul book we have been reading. Today is their monthly barbecue, and combined with that they are honoring their volunteers, so I will be going to eat lunch with her.
I am progressing on that big framing order! :D I had to call the gal yesterday with a couple of questions, and she said she has three more pieces she wants me to frame in time for the fair! Ah...job security! ;)
Next week there is something on our calendar for every day and most nights as well. That Saturday is my Alumni Reunion (HS) and I get to speak about my book and have a table set up from which to sell them! Thank you, Lord!
My cat disappeared for three days, but is back home now! I'm happy about that!
Larry, Al, Ruth Ann and others---I am so glad those carts are available for you to use in the large stores, what a help! One of our local grocery stores has them, as well, and Beth used them and using her walker and later her wheel chair when she was still living at home. And all those other "aids" are a blessing as well (mentioned by Ruth Ann.)

I thank you, God, that I am not in need of any 'aids' but also thankful that when that time comes, they will be available...that is if I have the $$$ to shop!!
A lazy day today. Just doing some laundry. I am either awful clean or awful dirty to have so much laundry for just me!
Encouraging news last evening from Sheree, Jacob's mother...QuoteThey have now added recreational physical therapy and they had him riding a bike today which was very exciting. They put electro stimulants on his legs and set the bike at a certain speed and then encourage Jacob to pedal faster. The therapist was very encouraging and did feel Jacob was out peddling the set speed ! We encouraged him by using names of his scout friends and scout leaders. They were calling to him to hurry up Jacob you can do it ! His eye was fully open most of the time during this exercise. It was very encouraging ! Go Jacob! God is most definitely in charge !
I got a phone call this morning from 'Unknown'. I didn't answer it. Within a minute, I got another call from 'Unknown'. I thought...a solicitor would not do that so I answered it. It was my classmate in Mexico. It seems he has signed up with Skype online to be able to call anywhere in the U.S. and Canada for 6 hours a month...something was said about 10,000 minutes but don't know how that calculates to 6 hours...for $60 a year or $5 a month. So he called me to see how the sound was. I had my home phone forwarded to my cell so I know my sound wasn't as good but he said I sounded clear. If any of you make a lot of long distance calls, you might look into this since the other end does not have to have a computer or Skype and you don't have to have a webcam...just a mic.
Cloudy and overcast today but nice and warm. I asked Kitty to meet me at the Pizza King this evening. I am getting a yen for pizza that hasn't been in a freezer!<OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo>

Hello to everyone.
So far I have had a what is normal day for me, not normal we had a fellow come to service our hot water tank a fee would be charged so we are doing it ourselves connect the hose and let the water out then flush with clean . We pay a monthly fee for the tank and I would like to know what for. A phone call will be placed on Monday to find out why and for what. I then placed an order from a catalog which will be delivered in 2 wks not long to wait.
Soon I will need to put dinner in the oven Sweet & Sour ribs yummy, along with potatoes of some style.
I use Windows Media Player and there is a button of the botton that can be clicked if you want the songs repeated.
Hi everyone. Today is a foggy morning but suppose to get ot 75 degrees by afternoon with only a small chance of rain. Today is an annual event for an organization I participate in and serve as the treasurer. We will have fellowship, workshops, a pot luck lunch, raffles and door prizes and then a speaker in the afternoon. It is a full day but a very enjoyable one. Stacey has arranged to go to her church tomorrow morning via the para-transit van, which picks up at the door and delivers to the door. I hope this won't be too painful of an experience for her but it is her decision and know it will be a big lift to her spirits to resume a degree of normalcy to her life after the last couple of months.
Janet, it is nice the home recognizes the volunteers that help out there. Do hope Beth is feeling better today. Your HS reunion sounds like a wonderful opportunity for you to sell a few books and enrich lives in the process.
Etta Sue, that is what I think about our laundry and tend to believe we are just awfully clean. It seems there is a load or two of washing almost everyday. So glad that Jacob continues to make progress and to hear that his mother is encouraged. Stacey has used the paid Skype service for several years and has her own telephone number to give to others to call from regular phones as well as being able to call to other non-Skype phones. It is very inexpensive.
Ruth, that is a new one on me that you rent your hot water heater. Hope you get a satisfactory answer to your call.

The kitty is us today in Indiana minus the snow. It's only 42 degrees right now!!!! Brrrr!
I did find out that the Skype calling is 6 hours per day and 10,000 minutes a month. Maybe a teenager would go over that but I doubt an adult would!
Sheree wrote yesterday...QuoteFriday 4/20/12 day 44
Fairly quiet day. They did put casts on Jacobs legs for the weekend. This is to help him not to get drop foot by stretching his ankles up. They are of course bright orange ! Stlll trying to get Jacob to wake up more and to start following commands.
The speech therapist was trying to get him to raise his right hand but no luck however he did move his left hand instead so that was encouraging!
Praying and Believing!
Jacob keeps making progress a little at a time. Since being in Atlanta he hasn't back-stepped any!
Kitty and I went to Pizza King last evening. We were talking and talking and she looked at her phone, said "I've got to go! It's 7 o'clock and I have to fix Bob something to eat!" So I left there...in the rain, went to Dollar General...in the rain, to the bank...in the rain and carried my purchases to the house...in the rain. When I got sat down for the evening, the rain stopped!! And it just kept getting cooler and cooler!
I don't think I got warm in bed all night. Too cool to even get up and put more covers on the bed!
Not much going on today...just what will be, will be!(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*

When Morning Gilds the Skies (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/when-morning-gilds-the-skies.mid)
(Click to hear music)
May the Name of the Lord be praised.
Job 1:21
Words: translated from German to English by Edward Caswall
Music: Laudes Domini, Joseph Barnby, in Hymns Ancient and Modern (London: 1868)
When morning gilds the skies my heart awaking cries:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Alike at work and prayer, to Jesus I repair:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
When you begin the day, O never fail to say,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
And at your work rejoice, to sing with heart and voice,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Whene'er the sweet church bell peals over hill and dell,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
O hark to what it sings, as joyously it rings,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
My tongue shall never tire of chanting with the choir,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
This song of sacred joy, it never seems to cloy,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Does sadness fill my mind? A solace here I find,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Or fades my earthly bliss? My comfort still is this,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
To God, the Word, on high, the host of angels cry,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Let mortals, too, upraise their voice in hymns of praise,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Be this at meals your grace, in every time and place;
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Be this, when day is past, of all your thoughts the last
May Jesus Christ be praised!
When mirth for music longs, this is my song of songs:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
When evening shadows fall, this rings my curfew call,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
When sleep her balm denies, my silent spirit sighs,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
When evil thoughts molest, with this I shield my breast,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
The night becomes as day when from the heart we say:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
The powers of darkness fear when this sweet chant they hear:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
No lovelier antiphon in all high heav?n is known
Than, Jesus Christ be praised!
There to the eternal Word the eternal psalm is heard:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Let all the earth around ring joyous with the sound:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
In heaven?s eternal bliss the loveliest strain is this:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Sing, suns and stars of space, sing, ye that see His face,
Sing, Jesus Christ be praised!
God?s whole creation o?er, for aye and evermore
Shall Jesus Christ be praised!
In heaven's eternal bliss the loveliest strain is this,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Let earth, and sea and sky from depth to height reply,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Be this, while life is mine, my canticle divine:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Sing this eternal song through all the ages long:
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Hmmm...wonder what I did wrong this time! When I click to hear the music, nothing!
I was up at 4 again, went back to bed at 6, woke at 7 and told Darrel he needed to go get our Prairie Pack foods, dozed until 7:30 and gave up. So I showered and washed my hair, will try doing it myself as Pat is in Texas with her Dad who is in critical condition. Then did some exercises and went to cut more mats. I have all eight pieces ready for framing!! Triple mats on every one of them--big job. Now I am waiting for corner samples of frames.
Our renter came over to do some mowing, the mower had a flat, so Darrel went to fix that and hasn't come back in yet. That's a good thing! At least he isn't just sitting here watching TV.
Our Senior Prom is tonight (senior citizens, that is) and Curtis is the DJ. We will be going to that, and Beth called a while ago to tell me she is going, too! It's good for her to get out and do something different, even if she can't actively participate in it. :)
I looked up the phone numbers of all three of our area TV stations yesterday and will be calling them about my book; see if anything shakes out! ;)
I never heard of renting a hot water tank, either. Sounds a bit strange. Let us know what you find out, Ruth, please.
Larry, glad you have a fun day planned, and also that Stacey can get out to church in the morning. Weplan to go to My Father's House in Hugoton tomorrow. I love that church, and besides that, will get to see all my 'kids' who live there.
Hi, friends,
Am I becoming an "every other day scholar????" :-\
I don't intend to - that's a FACT!
Such a blessed time of sharing and caring here at CP. May God's blessings be with every one who comes or who is involved, as well as ALL their loved ones and friends.
I had 2 marvelous experiences today. :)
1. A friend and I went to the Wycliffe Luncheon, and both left feeling well fed and spiritually challenged as well as spiritually fed. What a wonderful ministry they have.
2. My back left taillight assembly still wasn't working correctly, so back I went to the mechanic. Oh, how nice to see his friendliness and caring, and the detailed attention he paid to the repair! (And no cost at all.) As I prepared to leave, he told me to have a blest day. So, I smiled and asked a few questions. How WONDERFUL to learn that he is a converted Muslim, and loves Jesus passionately. Further, he worships at the church building where my husband and I were heavily involved in founding that church, then in the design and building of the sanctuary. Also, the second story of the educational building was constructed with funds donated in lieu of flowers at the time of his death, and that educational building was dedicated to God and in my hubby's memory. Also, with the tithe from the insurance money received, I was able to fund the purchase of the church's organ.
How GREAT to share and to be invited to return to that church as an honored guest of this man and his family!!
And, I had opportunity to share with him that I've been a Christian for 67 years, and that it's such a blessing to know God's work WILL ALWAYS go on.
<3
With love and adoration for our Lord,
Ruth Ann
I had something ready to post but lost it. After I call the hot water tank people on I will answer, one thing that I will say that many people do rent their tanks. But now I am not very happy with what I am being told.
We had lunch and a lovely visit with some out of town friends.
Ruth Ann, you continue to inspire me! What a life you have lived for the Lord, through good times and bad, and the fruit will go on forever. May you have only GOOD times from now until we meet the Lord in the air....bless you!
And Ruth, I hope you get those problems sorted out soon. Maybe that is a Canada thing, to rent water tanks. Here, we buy our own. Now I understand why you are unhappy about it (I think) because if you are only renting it, then the upkeep should be paid by the owner--am I right?
What a fun evening we had last night! It was the Senior Citizens' Prom, put on by our Chamber of commerce and the Junior Leadership Class from the high school. What a sweet bunch of kids were there--all juniors. They had nice food for us, had hired my grandson Curtis as DJ, and had another whole room set up in which to play bingo, which lots of folk love (NOT me!) There was a large group of the folk from Hugoton there, and since we have been going occasionally to their sr. dances, it was nice to see and greet them again. They also brought a group of people from the Care Home, including Beth, to play Bingo, dance, eat, and listen to the music. Beth was the center of attention from quite a few who had read the book but hadn't seen her in a long time or ever met her. She enjoyed having them come and talk to her. The young people wer courteous, fun, and danced with us as if we were their age! I won a dance with one boy, by identifying the movie a song was from, but one of the younger gals gave me the answer--Aladdin! Anyway, I had a really good time, and may God bless those kids!
We are going to Hugoton to church this morning!
Well, bless the Lord that we're going alhead with another day! "This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." May I indeed be glad in what He has done and is doing!
I received notice that I must retake the driver's test in May. Hope I can pass it! It's been a long time since I took that test previously.

Well, I went to see the movie 'Mirror! Mirror!' again. I went with Ivalou and Marge. But when I went with Kitty, they said there was a scratch on the film and they gave out free tickets to see another movie. So I didn't have to pay for last night AND I got another free ticket! The show was good the second time, too.
This computer is acting up. Working in the back ground.
So I am off to church.~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^

Ruth Ann, it is a blessing to me to read how His blessings follow you, whether you seek them in a Wycliffe luncheon or they are totally unexpected at an auto repair shop.
My six month check up at the doctor's was very satisfactory with everything either the same or better. Then Friday night completely sleepless - but not Saturday afternoon! :o I have an appointment for Monday morning for a fasting blood test and I foolishly let myself fret and worry about being hungry and thirsty and getting out so early. When I finally gave it over to the Lord I slept. ;D
HI everyone. The morning has started out with a bit of sun and warm. Not sure what the forecast is for the rest of the day. I am ready for church and Pat is also going unless the getting ready exhausts her. She had a very bad day of pain yesterday but said about 11:30 last night she was pain free and didn't want to move as it felt so good. The fibromyalgia is a strange thing as she will often have very painful days and then later in the evening begin to feel a lot better. Just hope she has a good day today. We had a great day yesterday at our annual event. I just finished getting the money collected in the raffle and basket collections ready for the bank in the morning. Other than church and getting something to eat this should be a quiet day.
Etta Sue, the spinal center here in Atlanta does amazing work with those folks having brain and/or spinal injuries. It sounds like you needed an electric blanket for the cold night. I keep mine on the bed and am still using it but not every night as it has been warm here.
Janet, what does it mean when you say you are doing a triple mat? I really know nothing about framing. It sounds like you have a large amount of work in progress. Hope the TV stations work out for you. Several of our stations here in Atlanta have morning shows where local events, authors, etc. are featured. Your senior prom sounds like it was great fun and certainly well attended. It was great that Beth was able to attend and have a good time.
Al, is the retaking of the driver's test a requirement based on age in your state?
Jeanne, glad your checkup went so well.
Ruth Ann, what wonderful sharing you did yesterday. You had quite a full day.
Time to start a new week. HERE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=12209.0)
