Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Janet:  Rest easy tonight.  How interesting that you could see similarity between Beth and her friend because of the dreadful disease.  And, because of it being internal as well for Beth, her load is much heavier.  Bless her soul.  It does sound like you are doing too much.  Oh, we are going to put our place up for sale soon - to move closer to the children.  We are so tired.  Don restained a deck today and painted some concrete at the entrance - had an agent over.  She will be back & we will interview one more at least.  I spent hours going through my sewing stuff - I have had a wonderful big room downstairs with two stainless shelving units & my sewing machines.  But - will never be able to duplicate this space so am going through thread, fabric & many magazines.  Donating a ton.  I also boxed up several things today.  Just so tired.

Marilyn:  Missed seeing you - I am not sleeping well right now with so much on my mind.  But - your posts sound positively serene - something is changing in your life.  I usually feel serene and calm but just the prospect of moving has caused stress and we haven't even listed yet.  This too shall pass.......

Larry:  It is hard to attend funerals - at least for me.  I will never forget years before when a neighbor lost her very young son to an industrial accident.  Expecting a sad group, it was really a shock to me that she was smiling and so happy that her son had gone on to heaven - he was about twenty.  It made me really think about how I would accept anything like that in my life.  Thankfully, I never had to go through the ordeal - but we always worry about our grands, don't we?  My neighbors faith was so overt that it was stunning and beautiful.  Anyway, my thoughts are with you as you mourn the loss of your good friend.

Hi, friends, thanks to your prayers and God's touch, my surgery site is better. However, I've worked so many hours this week that now the right arm is acting up. At any rate, y'all have a good rest of the day.

Much love to all.

Hi everybody. I have had some problems with my ISP in the past week or so and have been internetless (that a word?) for a little bit and then on DPChallenge.com (you guys are familiar with that site?) today I have been embroiled in a major controversy over wether the Christians on the site should be able to have a forum.  It really shocked me at the outcry against this idea among the non-Christians.  It has been at times very trying on there today. Wanted to stop in and let everyone know I am alive and breathing.  Hope all of you are doing well.  Tomorrow is another day.  I believe it will be the best day of my life. Praise God and God bless all of you.

Hi everyone!

Marilyn, I saw that episode of American Idol.  I thought they did a great job, except at the beginning.  On the live show, they sang, "My shepherd, my savior"  Not My jesus,.  Like in the clip you linked.  But I'm glad to hear that they sang it right to practice.  If Dolly can sing, Jesus and gravity, why couldn't they sing Jesus too?  Go figure.

Enough rambling for the day, gotta go!

Later,
Samantha :ticked:

Well, I just found out, (Looked it up!)  They did sing it on live tv!  I must have fast forward through that to get to something else.  I just saw the one where they were all dressed in white.
Choose you this day who you will serve; As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

Isa 41:10     Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Hi All I have been so busy lately that I have not posted here on Thought of the Week.  Work is busy, our main computer programe has been down since Friday and we have had to do things the old fashioned way....manually.

We are excited with the results at the Kiwanis Festival.  Kassie came in first and third in two competitions.  She has done well.  I am really impressed with the ajudicator, he didn't just comment on the playing of the contestants, he also used the time to teach them.  He was amazing.  At some point I would love to see him teach Kassie.

Well I have to go.  God bless

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Another sunny and beautiful day here in Georgia.  After coffee at the cafe this morning one of my friends and I went to walk a few rounds at the church gym.  Now I have the rest of the day free and told my wife I didn't plan on leaving the house again today, except to get the mail at the end of the driveway (which isn't very far).  This has been a busy week and it seemed that I was on the go most of the time.

Last night at choir we only had 7 members show up for practice.  I never like to miss choir practice as it is such a joy to me to sing under the direction of our fine choir director.  In mid-may the Atlanta Symphony Chorus, of which she has been a part for many years, is flying to Berlin and will do three concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic.  The choir performed there three years ago with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.  This time only the Chorus was invited back to Berlin.  She and her new husband of a few weeks are using this as a special wedding trip.

I did attend the funeral yesterday of my dear friend.  It was a wonderful celebration of his life.  We had about 13 men from our coffee group who served as honorary pallbearers.  I think it was the largest group of family I have ever seen at a funeral.  I must admit I had difficulty keeping my emotions together and a few tears filled my eyes as I thought of all the times I had spent with him and what a fine man he was.

It looks like Pat should have a good driving day to return home.  She has certainly clocked a lot of miles in this last week.

Samantha, I understand the same thing about the American Idol performance that Marilyn posted.  I haven't watched the show so didn't experience that personally.

Ruth Ann, I think we are going to have to shake you and Janet up in a sack to see who is working the hardest as you both seem to know no limits.  Hope your arm is feeling better today.

Carol, I can imagine the job you have to do with your sewing room.  My wife has boxes and boxes of material, books and sewing things.  Fortunately she has done some weeding in the past of material she knew she would never use (generally things that had been given to her) but still seems to have it in not only her sewing room but in other places in the house.  Pat and verify that our dining room looks like a sewing room as that is where she does the cutting of the pieces.  If it makes her happy then it makes me happy.  However, I got a little worried a few weeks ago when it all spilled out into the kitchen and dining area but that was just for a short-term project.

Etta Sue, sure glad to hear you are feeling better.  It sounds like you are all set for a lot of grass mowing this year.

Janet, hope you can get some answers from the MRI that Beth had.  The unknown is always more frightening to me than the knowing, even if the knowing involves what I didn't want to hear.  I at least know what I am dealing with.

I think I am going to do some computer maintenance today.  I haven't cloned my hard drive for a year and this would be a good day to do it if I can remember how.

Al Moak

Well, here we are on a Thursday morning with the sun shining! As I look out my window here in the little office I have, I'm looking toward the mobilehome next over from us, but, above that mobilehome and just a few feet further on, there's a row of cedars along the drive over there.  The early morning sun shines on them to reveal the most marvelous shade of light green possible.  It's absolutely beautiful in that early morning sun.  I could just sit here looking at that sight for quite a time.
Larry, I must admit that I don't know what you mean when you say you're going to "clone" your computer, but I hope you do remember it and that it goes well.
Ruth Ann, I too am very glad your hand's looking better today.  May our God continue to provide improvement for it.

Etta Sue

Good morning!  And what a wonderful morning!  I have all the windows open and a nice breeze is blowing through.  I can hear the birds singing.  Occasionally a tractor humming or a motorcycle running.  Sounds of Spring.

Today all of us are mowing our lawns.  Then tomorrow afternoon we are all...meaning, Ivalou, Kaye Don, Barb and I...are going to Ohio to watch Ivalou's grandson pitch in a baseball game.  He is good.  He is a 6'5" Senior this year and has already been accepted at Cincinnati University where his older sister attends.  Erik wants to be a physical therapist...Edie changed her major from Industrial Design to Nursing!  So both of them will be working in the medical field.  Erik will be good.  He has always been a touchy-feely type of guy.

Well, time to find a bite to eat and then mow!!

Good evening from Northern Ireland, I arrived to a smiling Colin and Marlene and a group hug. It is wonderful here, so beautiful and the people are wonderful.

Well been a very long day plus so will write when I have more energy. May you all have a God filled and blessed day.

I am going to have my nails done again this afternoon but for now I am home waiting for Keith to page me on Messenger for our mid-day chat. I am going to be helping  my client's pregnant grand daughter with her housework a couple of days per week during these last few weeks of her pregnancy and I will go for the first time tomorrow. She had false labor last night so I know it won't be long before the baby comes.

Everything is fine here, I will be going to Oregon again next Friday after work.  I'm going to make some sweet goodies to take along, Chocolate No Bakes I think the recipe is in the recipe folder. I will check, if not there I will post it.

On with my reading.

Hi, everyone; not much happening today. But yesterday we went to the mall and my grandparent house. My grandpa made Chicken Fettuccine for dinner.
Yumm!

I was hoping to get some pics today, but the weather went bad, and my parents left on one of their date nights. So, maybe some other time.

Janet

Carol, I can just imagine moving after being here for over 25 years, the past ten in this building, having moved 300 yards from the big house over here.  It's amazing how much more stuff we have accumulated in that 10 years.  Sorry you are having sleep problems.  I can relate; I have them most every night.  :(  I think that's why I have gained some weight, I eat to try to regain the energy I should have gotten from sleeping.  I hope you find the perfect realtor for your needs.  So much work.........oh, my.

I'm thinking I may have to quit the job, as my right hand is giving me problems in the Guyon's Canal surgery site, and on up that side of my arm.  I sure don't want permanent problems with it, and I do not have to work.  I enjoy it, but it isn't a necessity.  And goodness knows, I keep plenty busy without a job.  ;)

Becky and Beth are enjoying themselves so much.  It's a blessing that Becky came to visit--over 900 miles.  Today she brought Beth out while I was teaching my painting class, and they both made cards.  (I made Beth's for her, but she told me what she wanted.)  Then we took pictures, they went out to Beth's mobile home for a while, and then back to the home where they will eat a Subway sandwich and watch TV together.  Becky comes back here when she's ready, comes in the back door and goes to bed.  Both of them are such sweet souls, I wish everyone could see the real person rather than only the marred exterior.  But life is short, and soon we will be in heaven and they will have brand new, perfect bodies.  God is good!

Larry, glad you had a slower day today.  We need those!

Etta Sue, it is so good to "hear" you back to your usual chipper, optimistic, happy self!

Pat, you home yet??  :)

Marilyn, I don't know how you manage to spend so much time on the computer and still do all your other stuff.  I need your formula.

Jeannine---Colin--We are all envious here.  So do share your fun and photos with us, will you?  Ireland is definitely on my "want to go" list!

Hey there, Al!  We don't have much of anything green here yet, it will be nice.

Becky is here, so see you later.

Good Morning: I hope all y-all are well and being blessed today.

Pat I pray you have had a safe trip back from Virginia, you must be home by now and getting rested up.

Janet I just take things at a easy pace and don't try to do it all in one day. If I don't feel like doing something I don't do it. Saturday is going to be a busy day though. I have mow, do some shopping at the Coop in Arcata, clean house, do laundry, shampoo my hair, cook a lasagna for the church potluck and be there by 4pm. The lasagna is a frozen one. Yes I do spend a lot of time on the computer in the evenings, except when I am at Keith's or he is here the computers are shut down.

Jeanine it is good to hear that you made it safely to Colin's and thanks for checking in here to let us know you got there.

Larry sorry to hear of the loss of your good friend.

Carol, where are you moving to? Is it far from where you are now I dread  having to sort and downsize once more, and get things packed up. I know it is coming some time this year.Possibly before the time changes in October.

Etta Sue  glad you are getting back to "normal" and doing the things you usually do.

Time for me to Call Willa and get to Curves.

Marilyn, That is kinda my approach.  I know what I need to get done, and if I do it fine, if not, there is always tomorrow.  Of course, I am the queen of procrastination, or would be if they ever got around to crowning me, so my way is probably not the best way.

Right now, I am in the middle of my "testing season."  The state of NC requires that all homeschoolers between 7 and 16 be administered a nationally normed standardized test.  I give one of them.  I only tested four this week, but will be testing 8 or more for the next four or five weeks.    So between that, my two days a week at the community college, tutoring 6 students, and my own little angels, I'm a bit busy.    It's okay, though, it keeps me out of arguments on the Internet.  hahahahahahhaha :P

Janet, I know you enjoy your job, but please don't hurt your arm.  :(  Would working less hours be less strain on your arm?

I got this joke in the email this morning

A group of Americans were traveling by tour bus through Holland. As they stopped at a cheese farm, a young guide led them through the process of cheese making, explaining that goat's milk was used. She showed the group a lovely hillside where many goats were grazing.

"These" she explained "are the older goats put out to pasture when they no longer produce." She then asked, "What do you do in America with your old goats?"

A spry old gentleman answered, "They send us on bus tours!"

*Thanks to Pastor Tim for this joke!*

Yeah Al I think you do resemble that remark.  Did you think you could get that one by  me without me saying something?  <3

Karmat:  LOL on the old goat.

Al:  You do not resemble an old goat!  A nice goat.

Marilyn:  We will eventually move closer to the children - it is only 1 1/2 hours at the most to the ones farthest but - weather intrudes plus the worst freeway traffic & speedsters.  It is a nightmare to drive.  Snow & blowing is what cancels too many things in our lives.

Janet:  You surely can't undo that surgery.  You will make the right decision - we all want you to have some relaxation too.  This is wonderful for Beth to have company!

Larry:  I would like to learn how to "clone" the driver too.  We have a real problem with our laptop and if we ever get a full day, Don reluctantly wants to take everything off and reformat the hard disk.

I have my quilting group today and I am bringing a pile of books and magazine for everyone plus my featherweight to work on pot holders - sorta crazy designs.  Mostly, chatting    It is just so dreadful to me thinking about leaving my quilt buddies.   :'(    I have always hoped that one of the children would be able to move closer to us but it just isn't going to happen and it is best for us to get situated before they bring us there in an ambulance.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We had a good group a the Senior Center this morning and then my neighbor and I stopped at the gym and walked 10 laps.  Unfortunately, I think I am going into one of those tired periods.  I can always tell by the way my eyes feel.  I had plenty of rest last night so know that isn't the problem.  Fortunately I have nothing else on the schedule for today so can take it easy.

Al, cloning is where you attach a second hard drive and use a program that makes a duplicate copy of the first hard drive.  The trick is that when that process is over you must shut the computer down again and switch the cabling from the original hard drive to the cloned one and have it boot.  Then you can put the cables back on the original drive and put the cloned one one the shelf.  If the original drive crashes you can just replace it with the cloned one and be back in business.  I backup my file that I have created off site either on DVD, CD's or using a website called Mozy that allow you to backup on their server.  I keep my pictures on Snapfish and on DVD/CD's and the same with my music files as these are the large files.  I use a free problem from Western Digital for the cloning and it isn't hard but does require shutting down.

Jeannine, glad to see you are safely in Ireland.  That is a place I would love to visit along with Scotland but never well as I am not in good enough help to even attempt it.

Janet, I am sure you must have to do a lot of lifting on your job and that can't be good for your hands and arms particularly with the problems you have had.  I know you will hate to see Beth's friend leave.

Carol, I agree with you completely about locating where your children are close by.  After the experience we had with my folks I have every intention of seeing that we are close to one of our children.  Unfortunately, right now it is working the other way in terms of us needing to be close to our daughter.  Unfortunately we always pay a price in leaving friends and activities that we have come to know and enjoy when we move but new friends and activities are available if we seek them.

Al, I may resemble Karmat's goat as well.  Sure hope not however.

Karmat, I agree with you that most things can be done tomorrow if they don't get done today.

Marilyn, I agree with your approach as well.  I sometimes make lists of things I want to get done.  However, some of those items often get carried forward to the next list.

Scotty, it sounds like your grandfather must be a good cook.  Do you like to cook?

Etta Sue, if you all mow at once then the noise from the mowers of the others mowing won't be a bother.  Hope it is a good baseball game today and that Ivalou's grandson is on the winning team.

Believe you me, I am glad to be back also!  Terrible sickness.

Well, Tony called last evening to see if I was going to be home.  So he came and put on the second tire on the Craftsman.  When asked if I owed him anything, he said he didn't have to be home for awhile.  So I took him to Woody's at Lapel to eat.  Woody's is a hole in the wall...nothing for ambience.  But the food is good.  I have never looked into the kitchen and I might not eat there if I ever did but, again, the food is good.   ::)  Tony got a big breaded tenderloin and I got a great hamburger!

I did mow yesterday with the Honda.  It is slower and doesn't mow quite as well as the other but fun.  Well, as fun as mowing could be, I guess.   :idiot:

I am all ready for going to Ohio except getting dressed and going to Lapel for some money.  Forgot to have Tony swing by the bank last evening.

So I may not be on here until Sunday evening...

Hello friends,

I have been way from the forum for a little bit.  I've been fighting some depression,  :tissue: but at least I'm fighting and not just giving in, right?  (It doesn't help that I'm a year older today...UGH! old goats, hu?  I saw that post-pretty funny)  I suppose getting older beats the alternative.

I decided to force myself to join in the "trees" mini challenge as part of my fight.  I am bummed that my "natural welcome" photo had the bright green colors is should have, but something went wrong with the colors on upload/attachment, weird.

I am in prayer and the Word daily and I count my blessings each morning, but sometimes it just does not lift my mood, so I try to act as though I'm not depressed and hope the feelings will follow.  Not too much luck, yet.  So frustrating!

I have a new bird feeder and the birds make me smile, so that's a good thing.

I will be having lunch with my mother today and I think our family will be bowling tonight.  Fun!  I love to bowl.

I hope you all are well, considering present stresses and illnesses.  You are in my prayers.

Blessings to you all,
Kathleen
