Morning Devotional...Take Up Your CrossMatthew 16:24 KJV Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
If any will follow Christ, their very first step is to deny themselves--in place of their own will to substitute the will of God as their one overriding principle of action.
Note that Jesus said "If any man will" or
wishes or
desires. No one is forced, but
if any will be a Christian, it must be done on these terms:
Lrt him deny himself, and take up his cross. This rule can never be too much observed: Let each one in all things deny his or her own will, however pleasing, and do the will of God, however painful.
Should we not consider all crosses, all things painful to our human nature, as what they really are: opportunities of embracing God's will at the expense of our own? Consequently as so many steps by which we may advance toward perfection?
We make swift progress in the spiritual life if we are faithful in this practise. Crosses are so frequent that whoever takes advantage of them will soon be a great gainer.
Great crosses are occasions of great improvement. And the little ones which come daily, even hourly, make up in number what they lack in weight. We may, in these daily and hourly crosses, make effectual sacrifice of our will to God. These, so frequently repeated, will soon amount to a great sum.
From Renew My Heart, Daily Devotional Insights by John WesleyGalatians 2:20 (KJV) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Alas! and did my Saviour bleed,
and did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
for such a worm as I?
Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
and love beyond degree!
Well might the sun in darkness hide,
and shut His glories in,
When Christ, the Mighty maker, died
for man, the creature's sins.
Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine -
and bathed in its own blood -
While the firm mark of Wrath Divine
His soul in anguish stood.
Thus might I hide my blushing face
while his dear Cross appears;
Dissolved my heart in thankfulness,
and melt mine eyes to tears.
But drops of grief can ne'er repay
the debt of love I woe;
Here, Lord, I give myself away-
'til all that I can do.

Thank you, Judy, for today's devotional. When we compare our hurts - physical, mental, emotional - they fade away in the light of what our Savior endured on our behalf.
I was asked to post this poem in from a very nice lady in Canada. Her name is Judy Boneshaker or something like that. Sounds like an old bicycle I had once, not that I am sure Judy is like a bicycle! I hope you are all having a great Easter.
God bless
WOUNDS
They whipped His back until it ran red
A crown of thorns crushed on His head
They spat at Him and struck His face
And on wooden cross they did Him place
With nails in hand they stooped low
And fixed Him there with hammer blow
When finished nailing they lifted high
The Son of God to watch Him die
A swords' sharp blade pierced His side
And on Calvary hill Jesus died
They carried His body to lonely grave
The Lamb of God who came to save
Cruel death itself could Him not hold
But Thomas doubted what he was told
His master risen for whom he grieved
Felt wounded body and then believed
More than any man my Saviour suffered
A Lamb to the slaughter; a sacrifice offered
Wounded for my transgressions; bearing my sin
As with His great love my soul He did win
I cling to His promise when trials they test
"Come unto me and I will give you rest"
Though now I am wounded and suffering is sore
All sorrow will be ended when I enter Heavens' door

Hi everyone on a glorious Easter Day here in Georgia. I attended church and it was nice to see so many people there with their families. Pat fixed lunch here rather than try to go out as know restaurants will be extra busy today. Our DIL didn't have to stay in the hospital but our son was told not to leave her alone for 24 hours. We haven't heard from them today but know he had to work today. I did finish up the work on the special project for our Calvin Cove Respite Care at the church as put together twenty songs with a CD of converted midi music for accompaniment. Look forward to rest this afternoon and a generally quiet day.
Janet, I would certainly hate to have to face some of the family trials without knowing that God's plan is being played out and we have Christ to hold us up when we feel down. I know you are well aware of this. It sounds like the gal who thought John was being a pest needs to be reminded she is there for the benefit of the patients and these calls are very important to both Beth and John. He is part of her family and such calls should be encouraged, not discouraged. Nice of you to share your Easter family dinner with Maxine as it undoubtedly will brighten her day and well as yours.
Marilyn, good to see you posting. In the past Pat would try new recipes when we were having guests. Her cooking was and is always good.
Judy, thanks for the devotional thoughts for this week.
Colin, good to see you postings and thanks for sharing your poem. We miss you here on CP.
Jeanne, thanks for that nice Easter graphic and Judy thanks for the link and the music posted.
Colin is too funny! I read his poem and did ask him to post it here....I love so much of his postings on FB. Video's pictures and written work.
Judy, that was a really nice thought from Wesley to get this Easter week started. I filled the pulpit in our church a few weeks back and prepared a sermon along similar lines, using the following illustration that ties in with your devotional thought, too.
"Lord, You said if I want to follow you, I will need to carry my cross every day. I want to follow, Lord.
But there are days when I'm dragging my cross, making a trail for everyone to see. There are days when I'm pushing my cross, making my own path miserable and dusty. There are days when I'm sitting on my cross, trying to get comfortable and going nowhere. There are days when I'm giving my cross to somebody else, who already has one of his own.
Help me, Lord, to carry my cross on my shoulder. When it's up there, it leaves no room for a chip!" – A Treasury of Bible Illustrations
For some unknown reason I awoke at 2:48 am this morning, not feeling too well. So I got up and did a few things and then spent some time in the Bible to find an Easter theme to get me off to a better start. 2 Corinthians 5:21 did just that for me, and it made my day complete. "For He made Him who knew no sin to become sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." What an amazing thing Christ did for me, and how unworthy I am of His act. His grace is indeed awesome!
In Christ, every day is a good day!
Thank you Ken.
Thank you all for the inspiring posts! I remember a name of Judy Boneshaker or similar - must have been on SN. Colin: Please drop by more often.
Larry: How difficult this ordeal with your son's wife must be for them as well as you and Pat. Courage and prayers for all.
Janet: That irritated worker in Beth's home should be told that she is called a "care" person and the few phone calls Beth receives gives Beth a sense of peace and happiness.
Happy Easter to all. We are home. The drive went well but a mexican meal in Santa Fe caused us to not feel so good. All in all, we did not get to the 6 am service this morning and did not plan on the great outdoor gathering either so this was a different Easter morning for us. Finding out that there is only so much we can do anymore. My bible study is still on Wed morning each week almost all of this month. I have made a decision to drop one book club - the one that has a couple of women choosing themes I don't care to read.
Wonderful devotional, Judy, for this week. I just pray that we can all "Take up our cross" and follow Him. This is a good thought.... "If any will follow Christ, their very first step is to deny themselves--in place of their own will to substitute the will of God as their one overriding principle of action."
Thanks so much. I look forward to the devotionals from others each week. They really bless my heart.

Thank you Ken for these thoughts as well. I hope you are feeling much better now than how you felt in the night.
Hi everyone. It is really a pretty, sunny day here and it is to get to 75 degrees. I had thought yesterday the forecast was for the possibility of rain today but that is no longer in the forecast. We had a new man join us for coffee this morning. He is the husband of Ellen, who takes such good care of us at McDonald's. We hope he will want to become a part of our men's group. Today will be the normal Monday with the men's luncheon and a meeting this evening. The housekeepers are here this morning.
Ken and Pat, I liked the devotional thought you shared about how we sometimes carry the cross.
Carol, there is not much we can do to help our son and DIL as they live too far away. Glad you are home safely but not pleasant to get a meal that makes you feel poorly.
Hello: Just a few words of greeting as I have some neglected items that must be taken care of before Thursday. Mel is out at the present time and when he arrives home we will be headed to Barrie an hour's drive north. Then most of the afternoon will be used up.
Pat: Make that phone call to see the family doctor. If I phone today I would be able to see the Dr. before the week is out and if a spec. is needed that has also been very swift. Any delay has most always been my fault.
:ticked: /That was me one day not long ago.
:) This is me now :coffee:
Hi, friends,
I'm still enjoying a visit with my son - the other one left Saturday morning for a trip to the southwest part of the US.
Here's a link to information about black rice:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_rice
Much love to all who come here.
Ruth Ann
Well, I'm finally here. This has been a busy day, winding up with a nice long visit from a friend from church when she brought me one of the lily plants from the Easter decoration.
It has been beautiful and sunny and about 70 degrees. The buds are finally swelling on the trees and on my lilac bush, so maybe we'll have a real spring after all. :D Of course, it will only be about 50 on Wednesday and Thursday, but that sure beats a high that doesn't even get up to freezing.
This has been an end to a difficult week. I have had a cold/flu for over a week now. Today I picked up some allergy meds and I am feeling somewhat better. I am breathing freely at last.
It has been wonderful having John home this weekend. He had to work on Saturday after being home Friday so I went with him. We were both dragged out by the time we got home. I did get some decent pictures while we were out......a little difficult in a moving vehicle!
Today has been a beautiful say overcast, but warm over 61F. Our lilacs are beginning to swell. It will be nice to be outside when things are consistently warm, even if it means wearing a bug jacket!
Have a great day everyone
John has left, 8 days and he is done! So looking forward to him being home more. Next Wednesday is his last day. I will be getting an oil change done, loading up the Dogs and heading south. It will be a turn and burn for us, and that too is ok. Can you tell I am excited for our new chapter n life!
Hi everyone. The morning started out sunny but it is now overcast and we have a 60 percent chance of rain for a few hours this afternoon. I attended a meeting this morning and have nothing else on my schedule for today. So I may finally get to some cleaning out of old papers--something easy to put off. Pat did hear from the doctor yesterday that the source of her pain is a tear in the hamstring and a lot of inflammation. She will probably take physical therapy to try to relieve the pain. The doctor said where they would have to place the deep injection, if they went that route, was really close to the sciatic nerve, which could be bad if they hit it with the needle. Pat didn't care for that idea.
Judy, retirement is an exciting time and know you are both looking forward to John not having to be on the road, although it will certainly be a change of pace for him (and you).
Jeanne, how nice of your church sharing one of the Easter lilies with you. We don't see lilac bushes here in the south but always loved them when I was growing up or living where they thrived. However, wisteria grows with abundance down here and we always had that on our arbor on the farm and in the spring the bees were very bad.
Ruth Ann, thanks for the info on black rice. Pat had never heard of it either.
Ruth, as always nice to see your posting. Is Barrie a large town?
I wanted to share this clip of the Hoppers singing "Yaweh" Our choir did this song Easter sunday. I like how the audience spontaniously stands at the end.
http://youtu.be/DWk9gvzcE94
That is one of my favourites! Thank you!
Thanks Smokey! Love it!
Hi everyone. We ended up really not getting anything but a brief light rain in our area yesterday and today is to be beautiful. After coffee this morning I will go to Bible study and then have some errands to run. I may eat lunch with the Bible study group as Pat has something planned with her friend today, going to a fabric store. That will be plenty for today. My good next door neighbor is in the hospital as he had a problem with his insulin and his wife couldn't wake him up and called 911 about 2 am Monday night. He was kept in the ER at the hospital from then until yesterday evening. I took him his glasses and a few other things. His wife isn't able to drive as she is recovering from the heart bypass surgery and not doing real well. He said they told him he may also have pneumonia but didn't know for sure.
Smokey, thanks for sharing that video. The Gaithers have great gospel music.
Smokey: Thank you, so enjoyable to listen to that song.
Larry: It sure sounds like your neighbors need some help from relatives and friends.
We are home - cannot remember if I wrote that a few days ago but we have not been feeling tip-top since eating that Mexican food on the drive. Yesterday and today - all better. Bible Study this morning and they are already planning the final brunch day the first Wed. of May. This afternoon is neighborhood book club. The book is "1984" by George Orwell and all about government intervention - this may be an interesting discussion, or not. At church, I found out a friend's daughter just had a basel cell removed from her nose - last week, our son had a 3 in incision in his back for pre-melanoma and will have a smaller one removed on his chest this week - then every 3 months they will be checking.
Bible study was on a chapter of Revelations and our table had to be contained because everyone wanted to talk about the terrible effects of the pot vote and what it has caused - accidental suicide, accidental killing, and accidental overdoses. Not to mention the people coming in droves from other places, going to hotels and motels and having to dial 911 in the city. What a disaster. Never let it pass in your area is all I can say.
As I mentioned before, our church is huge. there were 5 services overflowing on Sunday and over 13,000 people attended. Don and I could not go due to our slight food poisoning. He would never have been able to hear anything. It was also the anniversary of Columbine. At the same time, downtown was celebrating their pot. Unbelievable.
I will be going to see the ENT this afternoon the see if he can tell me why I a still have the Vertigo I've had for 2 years and if the Tinnitus is related to the vertigo. I am praying for a final solution to the Vertigo and ringing in my ears once and for all. I've had the Eply maneuver 4 times and it didn't help at all. Please join me in prayng for a solution to the problem.
LARRY: I believe that Barry is a city, we know the main streets as for the rest we would get lost.
Marilyn: Praying for your problem.
Carol: That is a large church, is there problems with parking?
Pat: How are your aches and pains. Are you able to have enough rest?
It has been a sunny day but cool now it is to see what tomorrow will bring.
Hi folks. Just thought I would come on and do a post. Its been a while. I'm sitting in a small truckstop in Cedar Raids IA. and deliver in the morning. Then back to davenport IA for my load home. Its a bit rainy here but that's ok as we don't have to shovel that. Guess this is my last trip here with a truck as wed next week I'm retireing off the truck. I notice that CP is a bit slow this week. Guess everyone is out and about enjoying the end of winter and getting into the spring things. It sure is good the have this winter behind us. There is still some ice floating in the great lakes. Last week they still had the coast guard ice breakers clearing a path for the great lake freighters. That is almost unheard of this time of year. Noticed last week that there was still a lot of ice on Lake Erie as well. Well starting next week i will be able to get at my chores at home. Have lots to do this year. Years of build up from not being home with the truck. OH well it will keep me occupied and out of Judy's hair. going to run for now. Blessings everyone.
Good to see a post from you, John. I know you must really be looking forward to your retirement next week - and Judy is, too. I'll bet she has quite a honey-do list waiting! ;D
I went to the ENT today I have to have a hearing test on the 30th and PT for the vertigo when they call me with an appointment back tothe ENT on the 15th to have my ears cleaned,in the mean time I have to put 2 drops of oil in each ear at night to soften the wax. This is all about the vertigo and Tinnitus.
No honey do list, the list he has created himself is too long as it is.
Was at the doctor today. I now have a secondary infection, 2 nasal puffers, 1 more of a spray, 3 puffers for the lungs as well as an antibiotic....Hope this works and I start feeling better.... this has gone on for over 2 weeks now and a sore throat for over a month.
We are having problems already with the deer. They love our garden! We are talking about putting a dog shelter out at the end of the garden and tethering Rambo out there from early evening till nightfall. It is a large garden too big to fence in. The deer are beautiful animals however they have become a nuisance.
Well enough for now, Night all
Hi everyone. A beautiful sunny and windy day. It is suppose to get up to 78 this afternoon. I just rescheduled the air conditioning check until this afternoon so it would be warm enough to check. I have nothing else on the schedule for today so look forward to a laid-back and restful day. There are always some things to do here in my office so I won't be bored.
Carol, our neighbors have a daughter who lives fairly close and we have offered to help. Our friend was held over in the hospital last evening after thinking all day he would be released. One of our friends came to Bible study yesterday with a big bandage on his ear as he had cancerous tissue removed and apparently they took quite a chunk out of his ear. He had the MOHS procedure done. It is hard to see how anything good comes out of non-medical drug use, illegal or legal. It just brings heartache and pain all around.
Marilyn, I hope you got some answers from your ENT appointment yesterday. I see you have a plan of action to address the problems.
Judy, I thought every wife made "honey-do" lists. :) Hope your new medications bring you some relief so you start feeling better. Don't the dear get in your garden after nightfall? I know I have seen dear around here at night.
Ruth, thanks for the info on Barry. I know very little about cities in Canada or even where they are located.
John, did you get Judy an extra large pad of paper for her "honey-do" lists? I know you are looking forward to your well earned retirement. (I see Jeanne is anticipating your "honey-do" list as well.)
Good morning, friends,
My son is enjoying his visit, but misses his family terribly. Today we have storms coming, so he's in bed with a migraine. He said, it's wonderful that his wife and family understand about those headaches.
My brother and his wife are coming tomorrow, and hope to eat lunch with us. It's so nice when family gets together. With their lives as busy as they are, I only get to see them when they come to visit their daughter and family. However, I hear by phone often. My brother calls when time permits.
Marilyn, I understand the tinnitus and needing to get the ears cleaned out. Mine get it every 4-6 months. I have a permanent tube in one ear, and the wax tends to gather around the edges of the tube, threatening to dislodge it. So, I, too am told to use the drops to soften the wax. My hearing really improves when the ears aren't blocked by the wax. :)
I had not heard of the difficulties surrounding the marijuana use in Colorado. It certainly seems the media keeps that one under wraps!
Larry, I wonder if I'll ever get my old papers in order. It seems something always takes precedence. About the black rice, my son tells me his wife cooks it with a beef bouillon cube, two cloves of garlic, and a small onion. It ends up being somewhat like sticky rice, but certainly has a good taste. He's learned that it, more than other carbohydrates, seems to help keep his blood sugar more level, so he eats it each meal.
Judy and John, I truly wish y'all a wonderful retirement. You'll find yourselves very busy, but there seems to be a contentment about knowing we've worked hard and been good stewards for our Lord. And, it's great to have more time to volunteer, etc.
Ruth, it's good to hear from you. I agree, I do pray for individuals as they request it, and I also enjoy going to the prayer and praise area here in CP to see the additional requests and reports of progress.
Smokey, that music was really good. I enjoyed it.
Janet, hope y'all have a wonderful trip, and that both of you feel great during that time. :)
Pat, it's good to see you with us, too. :)
Well, I must go - the laundry beckons. And, I must answer. :)
Love to all,
Ruth Ann
Marilyn and Judy, I pray you both find relief soon with the latest treatments. It's hard to always be feeling "not quite right".
With the hearing aids I have to keep the ear wax cleaned out daily. I can always tell when I've missed some or it has built up faster because I start to get constant little pings with every slight sound - even my own breathing.
I just got off the phone after an hour long conversation with my daughter - she turned 53 today. And that's my baby!!!
I see the Audiologist next Wednesday for testing. The Dr. seems to think maybe I have lost some of the higher tones then again maybe not. He said it was so dry inside my ears that he wouldn't even risk trying to clean them until we get it softened up with the oil. He said it looked like Eczema in my left ear because it was so dry and scaly. I will be going to a different Physical Therapist than I went to before. I have heard very good things about the place he is sending me.
I am trying to find info on what happened in Colorado, anyone have a link that I can use to get the information?
Today was a busy day, with a lovely ending. I spent some time with Elizabeth and Ivy. She is such a cutie, and it is wonderful to spend time with her.
Marilyn I don't know what I would do if I lost my hearing, our dad was hard of hearing, and I remember him saying he missed the sound of the crickets. Take care of your ears, you don't want to go down that path.
Blue sky, sunny and not overly cold. Looks like spring is arriving soon!
Have a great day everyone!
hello all
At noon both Mel and I had our 5 wk. foot care; and it was so lovely
out that we had lunch out side the first of many for this year.
This will be my last visit for several days. As I have said I have been having issues with my knee be told a month ago that I was not to have a knee replacement but a hip as it is jammed real good. Tomorrow at 1:00 in the afternoon I will be having hip replacement. Please pray that all will be very successful.
Praying for you Ruth.
Praying Ruth...Check your email you have my number.
Ruth, I will be praying for you and the success of your hip replacement.
Another sunny but cool and breezy day. It's still dropping below freezing at night, but this too will pass and before long I'll be wishing for cooler nights for sleeping. We humans are never satisfied, are we? :D
Hi everyone. While it is overcast at the moment it is suppose to be a nice day with no rain. Our day got off to an interesting start when we lost our electricity of about 50 minutes this morning. I have a feeling a car must have hit a pole and knocked out a transformer. I have my ROMEO's luncheon today at 12:15. It is at a Chinese restaurant.
My neighbor didn't get out of the hospital yesterday. He had been told by his doctor that he would be dismissed and he had called me to pick him up. However, about the time I got there he called to say they were keeping him as his last x-ray, probably of his lungs, was worse than when they had admitted him. Later yesterday one of our housekeepers brought her son and three other strong young boys over and they got our old TV and helped get the new one setup. I am not sure it isn't smarter than I am as haven't figured out how to use the "magic remote" to change the channels. I did get the Netflix and Amazon Prime set up however. It is an LG 47 inch smart TV and plenty big for our room. The chest we had planned to put it on was brought down from our bonus room but turned out not to be wide enough as the legs on the new tv were set out towards each end of the set. So we are using our sofa table, which works fine but expect Pat will want something else as you can see the wires in back of it. We also had our AC checked out yesterday and it was fine. It is 18 years old so always keep my fingers crossed that it lasts another year.
Ruth Ann, is this your son that lives in the Far East that is visiting? Hope you get to have lunch with your brother and SIL today as sure they will enjoy seeing both you and your son. I still haven't started on my old papers, guess it isn't a priority.
Jeanne, that little ping sounds would certainly serve as a reminder. I am so fortunate to not have a hearing or vision problem. Our son is almost as old as your daughter. It doesn't seem possible--where has the time gone.
Marilyn, hope the PT is helpful. Pat just got hers setup this morning and will start next Tuesday. It will be at the same place she had the PT for her knee replacement.
Judy, it is so much fun to be around a little one as they discover the world around them.
Ruth, your hip rather than knee sounds like the experience Pat had as she went to the doctor to get the other knee authorized for surgery but had a hip x-ray and found out it was her hip and not her knee that was the problem and thus a hip replacement.
Well everyone I keep hearing about this honey do list and yes don't let Judy fool you. She does have one and no I don't need to get a large pad as she has it all in her head and won't write it down therefore keeping me in suspense. My own list is large enough and joined with hers I am sure I won't run out of things to do any time soon. I spoke with the VP at work today and he has now asked me to consider being available on a part time basis if they need some vacation coverage or something. He seems to be pulling out all the stops to keep me attached to the company. Part time may be a consideration for some vacation money so Judy and I can do some travelling in the winter months and get out of this cold up here. Will have to see though. I am looking forward to doing what I want to do and not what I have to do. I have worked many years for this privilege. Anyway going to go for now. Have to run a load to Rouyn Noranda Quebec tomorrow and then home for the weekend. Blessings everyone.
Ruth: Prayers for a successful hip surgery. You went in for a knee problem and came away with a hip replacement - amazing.
You really don't find national news chatting about the troubles with approving drug use here. They believe the taxes will be so great - but, they are finding that a drug cartel from the country to the south is involved and they don't pay taxes.
Marilyn: It sure sounds like you are getting good attention for your vertigo issue. There will be an answer.
We have a full day planned tomorrow with my meeting the quilt council in Fort Collins while Don has coffee with an old friend. Then, stopping at daughter's house to hug two grandchildren and visit and perhaps we can see another grand on the way home. We bought two tomato plants and 8 little pots of multi-colored flowers but cannot plant them until at least six days because of a temperature drop coming. So, they are in the garage and being misted every day.
Our neighbor had a new bible and it looks interesting enough so must go to the church store and see if it is available. Can't remember the title.
Our bible study leader is recovering from a bad broken leg from skiing accident. So difficult she had to stay at the hospital extra days because their bedroom and shower are on the 2nd. floor. After this, I am sure they will make it a goal to finally move to a one-floor house plan like this neighborhood has and I am always grateful that we don't have to go to the basement if we are not feeling up to it.
Hi everyone. It is going to be another delightful day here in Georgia with it being sunny and up to 80 degrees. This is the day for our annual Grayson Day, which will bring a lot of people to our park with a parade and many booths. I haven't been able to attend for several years as can't handle the walking involved. I have decided I will take my new TV back, as have 30 days to return it. I have found it doesn't do some of the things it should, like change channels with the remote. I will work on it a little more to see if I have missed something and if not back it goes and will be replaced with another brand. I have a 30 day return period. Other than coffee this morning I think I will have a pretty quiet day today. Pat may want to go out to eat at noon but that remains to be seen. My neighbor is still in the hospital.
John, I am sure you will stay very busy in your retirement. I know you have been a very valued employee and if you are suppose to do some part time work it will happen.
Carol, hope you enjoy your quilting council today and know you will enjoy the hugs from the two grandchildren and perhaps a third. For sometime now I have been using the Bible app on my iPhone in Bible study. I have a very nice, fairly new, study Bible but it is too heavy for me to enjoy using.
Hope everyone has an enjoyable day today.
Hi everyone on an overcast warm Sunday morning. I will go to church in a couple of hours and if Pat wants we will go out for lunch. Yesterday turned out to be an interesting day. I was able to contact LG television support through the Dish Network tech. They helped me set it up properly for Dish and to answer some other questions about how the magic remote works and doesn't work. We will still need to use the Dish remote to change channels and the speaking function currently works only with the Internet browser they use. I still have a couple of weeks before deciding whether to keep this set or not. I sure hate to take it back as the beautiful is beautiful and know we will adjust to it. I have a Logitech Universal Remote I am going to try to set to work with the new TV.
Then I decided to re-install Windows 7 on my laptop and ditch the Windows 8 as it wouldn't update and had never worked correctly. So I spend a good part of the afternoon and evening installing Windows 7 and then doing the updates. It took about 4 fo 5 interations of checking for updates to get the software up-to-date but now have it on the wi-fi and am loading software I want on it while working here on my desktop. I am not going to load it down with software as use it mainly for my evening activities, which are mainly fun and games, reading email and watching Netflix on occasion. I should have it done before leaving for church.
Pat will start her three times a week physical therapy on Tuesday and I sure hope it helps her. Hope everyone is feeling well today or at least better and can enjoy this good day that God has allowed us to have.
Yes, Larry, it is my son who lives abroad. His wife's counting down the days till he returns, and I'm saying, "How good it has been to be with him again." :)
I hope Ruth's hip replacement went well.
Y'all take care, and I'll return after he leaves on Tuesday morning.
Ruth Ann
