Morning Devotional...
Jesus on the Holy Spirit and Prayers
John 16:5-33 NLT
"But now I am going away to the One who sent me, and not one of you is asking where I am going. Instead, you grieve because of what I've told you. But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don't, the Advocate won't come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God's righteousness, and of the coming judgment. The world's sin is that it refuses to believe in me. Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged.
"There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can't bear it now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, 'The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.'
"In a little while you won't see me anymore. But a little while after that, you will see me again."
Some of the disciples asked each other, "What does he mean when he says, 'In a little while you won't see me, but then you will see me,' and 'I am going to the Father'? And what does he mean by 'a little while'? We don't understand."
Jesus realized they wanted to ask him about it, so he said, "Are you asking yourselves what I meant? I said in a little while you won't see me, but a little while after that you will see me again. I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn over what is going to happen to me, but the world will rejoice. You will grieve, but your grief will suddenly turn to wonderful joy. It will be like a woman suffering the pains of labor. When her child is born, her anguish gives way to joy because she has brought a new baby into the world. So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy. At that time you won't need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven't done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.
"I have spoken of these matters in figures of speech, but soon I will stop speaking figuratively and will tell you plainly all about the Father. Then you will ask in my name. I'm not saying I will ask the Father on your behalf, for the Father himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I came from God. Yes, I came from the Father into the world, and now I will leave the world and return to the Father."
Then his disciples said, "At last you are speaking plainly and not figuratively. Now we understand that you know everything, and there's no need to question you. From this we believe that you came from God."
Jesus asked, "Do you finally believe? But the time is coming—indeed it's here now—when you will be scattered, each one going his own way, leaving me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me. I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."

What a contrast between the disciples and the world!
The world rejoiced as the disciples wept, but the disciples would see Jesus again (in three days) and rejoice. The world's values are often the opposite of God's values. This can cause Christians to feel like misfits. But even if life is difficult now, one day we will rejoice.
Keep your eye on the future and on God's promises!

Awesome weather here in Indiana. I slept all night with windows open. This morning I ran the overhead screen program at church so I had to be there early. After Sunday School we had a catered lunch. Delicious food. I ate the platter clean!
One the way home Ivalou and I stopped at Marge's house to see her new Toyota Cambry. It rained big drops for about 5 minutes. When I got home I shut my windows and turned on the A/C.
Then three of us gals went to a gal's home and we played cards. We laughed. Played cards. Laughed. Played another game of cards. And laughed some more! So much fun!!
I got home and shut off the A/C and opened windows again! I don't think it rained any after that 5-minute big drop rain!
Then I had to eat something since I am having a fasting blood draw in the morning. After that anyone that has attended Durbin Elementary School is invited to a restaurant in Noblesville. I went in December and it was fun seeing people I hadn't seen for years! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

It is a light rain now - I heard the word snow but didn't listen. We are home - and it will be good to be in our own bed tonight. We like our own chairs too. How fortunate we are.
JudyB: Congrats for the drill team!
Janet: It sounds like a book success!
So many things this week. One grandson took #1 in trumpet solo - he was quite nervous at first & had a really technical piece to play - slipped a little at first but by the 2nd page was spot on with everything. Other grandson won two track races & also came in 2nd in Discus throwing (if you would see the beanpole, you would never guess that he is all muscle) - granddaughter did well on her school project of being a stockbroker (they lost money in the markets but did well on the stock she chose). She was the team leader. Well - enough gma bragging. I only hope they got the message that all of their gifts are from God.
We get a letter from a local church and they are posting names of those in the congregation who need jobs - maybe it could help someone. It is really tough - we know from experience years ago.
Darrel and I both were able to go to church today. When we came home, he just about collapsed, has been in his chair ever since. I think (HOPE!) I am about over my problem, stomach still very sore, but better, anyway.
I went to the home and had dinner with Beth. She likes to have me there to feed her, and I don't do it often enough. The workers there are all very kind to her, and Beth just gets sweeter all the time. That's a good thing, since she is totally dependent on others now for even her simplest needs. Please remember to pray for her on Tuesday, as she goes for the surgery. (Gallstones.)
See you tomorrow!
Father, I pray for Beth and her surgery on tuesday. Oh give the surgeons the utmost in skill and gentleness, and grant fast and excellent healing afterwards. Oh do these things, Father, through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thanks so much, Al.
Darrel and I are going to Liberal today. He has an alarm trouble call, and I want to get all our trip photos put on CDs. I will get some of them printed, as well. And as soon as I am feeling myself again, I want to start writing my story of this amazing trip.
Next weekend, grandson Mark will be graduating from Kansas State University, so we will be traveling to Salina to celebrate with him. How quickly the years fly past!
I will try to get back in the swing of things here this week, if possible. I like to respond to others' posts, just haven't felt up to it since returning home. But I do love you folks, and pray for the needs as posted.
See you later!
Janet, Beth (and the family) has my prayers as well.
I can hardly wait for the details of your trip, so feel better quick!
Janet: Prayers for Beth and her surgeon as well as all of her care. It sounds like you are slowly getting better yourself.
We have 5 or 6 in. of new snow but it will probably all melt today.
Our news is all about the Swine Flu - another big prayer concern.
Thank you for the devotional this week, Etta Sue.
There's lots to cause us to do some thinking in that one. How true a statement, "The world's values are often the opposite of God's values." Oh, that we might always have our eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ!

Thanks for the news of Beth, Janet. We'll be praying for her and this surgery. Hope you are feeling better too!
Yes, Carol, we're hearing all about the Swine Flu up here as well. Apparently there are two quarintined in a Montreal, Quebec hospital and these people had just returned from Mexico.
Scroll UP to to the top!
Do you see a poll? Just a silly one.
Let's see how many can enter their votes this week!
Janet I will be praying for Beth and for you and Darrel as well.
Please pray for Keith, His PSA jumped from 7.4 to 9.1 over two days, he has a Dr appt this morning and will be referred to the Urologist also.
I am going to the office to field phone calls and clients while he is at the Dr. He had to lay of his secretary last week although she will be coming in a few days per month to take care of the billing and pay the office bills. She came in for 4 hours last week while he had to be in Portland. She wanted to draw her unemployment so he let her go.

Good afternoon. I was up early and at Riverview Hospital for a blood draw. When it is my yearly checkup, the blood has to be drawn from the hospital. Any other time, it can be done at the doctor's office. Medicare.
Then I went to Jim Dandy restaurant where the Durbin Breakfast was being held. Durbin Elementary School is where I went for 8 years. Even my Dad, Ivalou and Kaye Don went there. Tony went for two years. I think I was the youngest one there but it was real nice seeing people I haven't seen for years.
I came home and went to Ivalou's for a chat. I thought she was going to the breakfast but didn't show up. I wondered if she was sick. She just didn't sleep good last night so decided to sleep in.
I really don't think I have anything to do until Friday now. A doctor appointment then! Well, I need to dust, sweep, straighten up the house and probably mow before the weekend! SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE

Hi everyone. This has been a busy morning, although I spent most of it sitting waiting. After coffee and walking a the gym, I took my older Hyundai to MIdas to get the brakes fixed. I needed new front brakes as the pad on one side had worn down and the rotors on the front needed to be resurfaced. Needless to say it wasn't cheap but ignoring the problem was not an alternative.
I have my men's luncheon in a few minutes but we are meeting here in the town where I live. I noticed this morning that they are building a new Burger King close by. Just what we need, another fast food place.
Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional for this week.
Janet, getting the gall bladder out should make certainly make Beth feel better and enjoy eating more than she probably does now. Glad you and Darrel are continuing to progress.
Judy, sounds like you all had something to really celebrate for the wins for the drill team.
Pat, is that poll right? Select up to 18 options? There are exactly 18 choices there!

"

What about chicken as the pizza topping? I am hurt. I am surprised. I am mystified. It should be number one!
Yeah I agree with you Al, I love the Chicken and garlic pizza with white sauce.
Keith's Dr appointment came out just fine the Dr is more concerned that his Blood Sugar was 129. so Keith has to go to diabetic classes and I will go with him. I know that is only borderline and that was a fasting BS.
The prostate is of no concern to the Dr. it goes up with age and after the exam he told Keith not to worry the PSA tests aren't a very good indication anyway. The manual exam was fine.
There were no phone calls at the office while I was there, I stamped a couple of bills and brought them home to put in the mail box. I also had to fax my old bank to close my account and send me a check.
Pat, I clicked on "other" as my favorite pizza is Canadian Bacon and pineapple, and Canadian Bacon wasn't on the list!
Thank all of you for praying for Beth. Some people from my church went as a group yesterday and prayed for her. She sure appreciated that.
I need to go, think I will help Beth with her supper again. Last food she will get for some time!
Hey, glad you are doing the poll folks!
That's what the "other" is for. Just tell us what was left off.
I also like jalapeno and/or sliced hot peppers....mmmmm
I think I'd like some hot peppers but only a few.
I can't believe that some like anchovies!
Oh Pat anchovies are the greatest! John and I both love them. Now Al about Chicken... you should try Toppers chicken pizza it is loaded with Chicken and Parmesan cheese Mmmmmm yummy
I accidentally had some ranch dressing, and boy did my system react. It will be days before I can eat more normally again. UGH
We have had a system go through high winds and rain. The temps were up today but now they have dropped. It is to rain till tomorrow about noon. Hopefully it will end and give the ground a chance to dry up. Everything is so saturated. One thing that is good After the rain I will be able to hang out my laundry again.
Well I am off to bed.
God Bless you all
just a little cheese with mushrooms and some veggies, thank you for the pizza. Yum! Don will have the stinking anchovies
Pat: Love the music today. It brings back memories of being in a fairly small but dedicated church.
We had more snow and right now the sun is out so our lastest snow is melting. People are out walking their dogs and chatting with others. We had to spend so much time returning drapes and rebuying yesterday that it just is so sad. There is no quality control anymore. I ordered 4 panels of 84 in. length and one was only 81 in., (Penney's) and then Walmart had the 4th panel all stained after I had hung those as well so we had to return all those huge mistakes and I finally found what was needed. The driving and the rehanging & ironing just wore me out ;) well, I did sleep an extra hour this morning.
Thankful that I don't have to sew these drapes, thankful for the energy to get through these small things in life. Thankful that you are here!

My most often eaten pizza is pepperoni and cheese. Onion also. But love to go to Pizza Hut buffets and can sample several kinds.
Raining in Indiana. Slow gentle rain...straight down rain. I still have windows open but have to be on the alert for some wind and shut windows.
I have dusted and cleaned mirrors and glass. Taking a break now. Then I will sweep! What else to do on raining days. I took my nap yesterday! /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

Eclipse FilmedIn 1930, the first U.S. motion picture of the 1.5 minute totality of an eclipse of the sun was taken from an airplane flying about 18,000 feet over at Honey Lake, California. The flight was sponsored by the U.S. Naval Observatory, and carried out by Lt. Leslie E. Gehres amd Chief Photographer J.M.F. Haase of the U.S. Navy. An attempt made during an earlier eclipse had been made by the same photographer on 10 Sep 1923, but was unsuccessful due to cloudy conditions. A U.S. Navy dirigible was first used to make a motion film of an eclipse on 24 Jan 1925. The dirigible was about 4,500 feet above a point almost 19 miles east of Monauk Point, New York, which it filmed the 2-min 5-sec eclipse.
Mechanic? The helicopter lost power while flying over a remote Scottish island and was forced to make an emergency landing. Luckily there was a small cottage nearby. The pilot walked over to it and knocked on the door. "Is there a mechanic in the area?" he asked the woman who answered the door.
She scratched her head and thought for a few seconds. "No," she finally said, pointing down the road, "but we do have a McArdle and a McKay."
Auto RepairsAn auto mechanic received a repair order that said to check for a clunking noise when going around corners.
He took the car out for a test drive and made two right turns, each time hearing a loud clunk.
Back at the shop, he returned the car to the service manager with this note: "Removed bowling ball from trunk."

Hi everyone. It is another nice day here. I attended a meeting this morning and then stopped at Wendy's for one of their double stacked cheeseburgers for 99 cents and a small frosty for Pat and I. I just finished it and it was tasty. The air conditioning man is due after 3 pm this afternoon for the annual check. The rest of the day is clear after that.
Etta Sue, what is this taking your nap yesterday? That sure doesn't qualify for the nap today does it? :):) Speaking of naps, I will be taking one shortly as had to miss a nap yesterday due to too many errands to run.
Carol, it is sad that most often buying things the first time isn't sufficient and a return trip to the store is required. I liked your gratitude list.
Judy, hope you are feeling better today.
Pat and juanital, I sure don't want any hot peppers or anchovies on my pizza. I do like sausage, pepperoni and some peppers and onions on mine.
Janet, I am sure it gave comfort to Beth to have the group from your church come and pray for her. You are all in my thoughts and prayers today as Beth has the surgery.
Marilyn, initially my doctors told me the same thing as the doctor told Keith and that my heart would get me before prostate cancer. However, I had to know if I did have cancer before going on with the heart transplant as they have to kill the immune system for the transplant and it I had cancer it would go wild. Further testing showed I did have the cancer so the heart transplant process had to stop for at least 5 years. I will be too old for a transplant when the 5 years are up, which will be the end of this year. I am actually grateful that I won't have to face the trials of the heart transplant process although would have had it if it has been available to me.

I filmed a
lunar eclipse from the ground and it took a lot longer than the above mentioned solar eclipse. (it was so cold out, too) I have had other unsuccessful attempts due to cloudy conditions, as well.

Hello everyone!
I'm back from my 20th anniversary trip! (a month after the fact) Boy, did we have great weather and a fantastic time! We drove all over North Central Idaho. We basically followed the Lewis and Clark trail (and locations of the Nez Perce Indians and where they first met Lewis and Clark) all the way into Montana. We stopped for almost all of the Historical markers along the way and read everything. We hit several visitor's centers. We saw all kinds of terrain on our trip. We also ran the gammet of places to stay as we don't have an RV at present.
We picked a day to call our anniversary and got a nice suite at a Best Western on the third floor, overlooking the clearwater river. It had a jacuzzi by the window so you could enjoy the view. There was a fireplace, cable TV, high speed wireless, etc... and the suite was larger than our first apartment. We ordered dinner to have in our suite, as well. What a nice treat that was!
The very next night, we were in a tiny town called Weippe in a tiny cabin barely large enough in which to swing a cat! Four local TV stations, no internet, no fireplace, nothing large about it. Still, it was charming and a fun experience. I didn't really like the unknown of where we'd stay each night, but it did make for a memorable trip.
We saw plenty of birds and some wildlife. We saw prairies, lakes, canyons, mountains, plains, meadows, forests, and rivers rivers rivers, etc...I got lots of photos which I'll be slowly getting posted to my website. I will post one image here to start with.
I did awaken feeling quite sick yesterday morning. (fever 102.1, aches, pains, headache, fatigue, cough, trouble breathing) I am a bit better today after sleeping nearly all day yesterday. We got home the night before. I'm thankful to God that I was well for the trip.
Hope you're all doing well. I will go for now. The image is one of several buildings still standing in the still enhabited ghost town of Keuterville, Idaho.

Ugh, Judy--ANCHOVIES?? :P YUCK. Well, I guess some folks like them, although I have no idea why! Our neighbor once brought us an anchovy pizza as a thank you for some work we did for her, and our dogs wouldn't even eat it! I saw a lot of anchovies in Southeast Asia, but I didn't eat even one!
Thanks to all the prayers for her, Beth came through the surgery just fine. She continues to amaze me! Her doctor said that her bowel had moved over underneath the gall bladder and was crowding her liver. He said that is the body's natural defense in case the gall bladder ruptures. Isn't that amazing? The bowel had a lot of adhesions holding it there, which the doctor had to cut; and the stones they removed were quite large--one was larger than a quarter, about the size of a walnut, actually. They showed them to us. He removed everything through her belly button! And he says Beth should start feeling a lot better, quickly. Praise the Lord. She is spending tonight in the hospital, and will go back to the home tomorrow.
Of course, I spent the whole day at the hospital and am tired. But so relieved it is over, and Beth is okay.
Carol, sorry about the problems with your curtains. Shouldn't happen! Doesn't anyone take pride in a job well done any more?
I got brave and went with my friend Pat, who was staying at the hospital with me, for lunch at Alejandro's (Mexican).......And think I might regret it soon. But I hope not! My system is really complaining, though. :-\
I am looking at a brand new career. Need to learn more about it before I make a decision, but hey! I'm not too old to start something new---am I?
I should go talk to Darrel, haven't seen much of him all day!

Hello everyone! I'm back from my 20th anniversary trip!
Sounds like you had a great trip. One of my "Bucket" items is to follow the Lewis & Clark trail. You've given me a little more desire to do it.
"Swing a cat" ain't heard that in a while

What is this, Janet? Are you being serious?
:)Hi to all. It seems that I have been gone for a long time. So many things have happened since Easter week and our kids came and had dinner at our place.
On the Wednesday before Easter Sunday we had a wonderful soup and sandwich dinner at church and lots of people came then we had some singing and then the 12 disciples and Jesus came in and did the reenactment of the Last Supper and a;lso did the foot washing. You felt like your were right there in the real thing.
Then on Thursday night we took two mini vans to a large church out in the country where they performed a cantata reenactment of when Jesus stayed in the Temple when he was only 12 years old and his parents came back for him, then it continued to the crucifixion and the Resurrection the music and acting was so good for amateurs. The next night I took my wife back to see it.
Then on good Friday we had a service at our church and I sang a solo and it went well. Then of course on Sunday we had wonderful service and our pastor acted out as Simon -Peter and he had the whole costume and full beard he did it so well.
We have also been busy with our grandkids and also so many other things in the last two weeks I have put on-over 600mls or more on my van but is good to busy. <3
This past Sunday the choir that I sing in we had a concert and we had at least 92 members singing so it is a lot of fun, we have 122 members registered. I please ask that you continue to pray for my wife Noreen as she is still in daily pain.
Pappa Joe: It is so nice to see you back. May the Lord give you the strength to get through each day. <3
Pat: Thanks for that you tube re Franklin Graham it was very interesting. God Bless Sis. <3 :cp:

I filmed a lunar eclipse from the ground and it took a lot longer than the above mentioned solar eclipse. (it was so cold out, too) I have had other unsuccessful attempts due to cloudy conditions, as well.
I put the phases of it into a poster form using Photoshop...Our God is an awesome God!

Wow! Beautiful, Kathleen!
Thanks for putting that in here today.
Kathleen: Your photos of the eclipse are amazingly clear and so interesting. The moon just draws you in for a closer look.
Janet: You could be our Spirit Ambassador! Keep the spirit going! Stay away from Mexican food & you will get better.
Gord: What a lovely remembrance for this year's Easter season.
Larry: Frankly, I try to not buy anything made in China because of so many problems with their products but it seems that too many things have to be returned or some little thing wrong. As for a heart transplant - living with one has so many hazards and my friend really can never enjoy so many social things plus she fights all sorts of cancer ever so many years. Glad that you are doing so well and you can meet with your buddies. You and Pat are such a good help for Stacey as well. I am glad that you are still writing posts. Hugs to you.
I just love the picture of the "Cardinal in the Snow". We had Cardinals in the Texas yard but not here in Denver area - we saw them again in Tucson. Eye catchers for sure.
I am making a list on Microsoft Works for the cabin - we are going for a meeting on Saturday and this will be my first trip to see what we have purchased. I thought making a list would help us to not bring doubles of some things or forget important items. No electricity or water hooked up yet - these mountain people take forever to answer requests. They are usually skiing or fishing. Our story is that we and one son bought a foreclosed place in the mountains - he is going to do all the finishing work when we get power.
Pat: How are things coming on your house? It must be beautiful at this time of the year in your area.

Another rainy day in Indiana. Suppose to get to 68°F. My two trees in the front yard, a Maple and a Tulip Poplar, are greening up in the last couple of days. The Tulip Poplar blooms the third week of May. Right now, it doesn't look like it will be blooming but I am sure it will.
I did take a nap yesterday. After lunch, I was looking at the internet with StumbleUpon and fell asleep. So I closed the lid on the laptop and went to the spare bedroom for a nap! And I slept good last night, too!
I did get the house all cleaned but when I went to get the mail yesterday, the deck looks like a tornado brought all kinds of debris to it. Once things dry out, I need to sweep and maybe bleach it again.
Always something to do!
Waiting on the surgery scheduler to call today.... xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Hi everyone. It is another beautiful day here in Georgia. It is 72 degrees now and is to go to 80 degrees later today.
Yesterday I had the air conditions checked out. He found we needed to replace the little unit that triggers the on and off of the compressor (can't remember what it was called). The contacts had almost burned through. We had to replace that part on the heat pump 2 or 3 years ago when it wouldn't shut off. This has been an expensive week but these things needs to be done.
Pat has come down with a bad cold with a sore throat and nasal congestion and a cough. She has no energy. Stacey has had the flu since last a week ago Tuesday. She tired going to work again today but lasted only about 10 minutes before vomiting and was sent home. She shouldn't have gone in but this was the only day she could get her bus pass for this coming month.
We just received notice this morning that a friend in our church, who was diagnosed with lung cancer about 2 weeks ago, had passed away yesterday afternoon. She was in Hospice care since leaving the hospital. She always attended our Wednesday Bible Class and was very active in our church. She was a truly fine person and will be missed. The funeral is tomorrow afternoon and I plan on attending.
I do have choir tonight but otherwise have a free day.
Janet, so glad to hear of the success of the surgery and to know that Beth will soon be feeling much better. You have us curious about your new career--inquiring minds need to know. :)
Carol, I did a lot of research before starting the heart transplant testing and do understand that there are many concerns associated with it and always the potential for rejection. I have made the decision to live each day with as much joy as possible. God has been very good to me and I just have to watch my limits. I don't worry about tomorrow.
Gord, you have really been busy. It must be great to sing in such a large choir. I would love to have heard your solo. Did you get a recording?
Kathleen, hope you are feeling even better today. Beautiful picture and thanks for sharing it with us.
Guess I had better stop writing and have some lunch.
Despicable!

Very much despicable Pat.
Janet I am glad to here that Beth came out of the surgery just fine. That is good news.
Did I tell you about Keith's Blood Glucose reading? (I don't remember if I did here or f posted it on the S&F site. Any way it was 129, so the Doctor is sending him to either a dietitian or to Diabetes classes and I will be going with him..
Keith hasn't been notified of when the class is supposed to start, The Dr. told him he would be notified. I am going to class with him and I have a diabetic cookbook already on the counter to start right now. I know that 129 is NOT borderline. 80-120 is the normal range with 120 being too high. My runs about 90 in the BS tests that I have had.
I've had clients who were diabetic, so I know a little bit about what they can and can not eat. He seems to think that his blood sugar was high from eating too many M&M's I told him it is his continual diet of Cake and Ice cream, lots of potatoes, cookies and the M&M's. Plus he has high BP, it is higher when he goes tot he doctor than when I take it here it is about 105/62 here and it was 150/?? there the first time and 145/?? the 2nd time.
Yes, Pat, totally despicable!! GRRRR!! But during the campaign, his promoters were describing him as "messiah." To tell you the truth, nothing that evil man does surprises me any more. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!!
Oh, you are curious about my new career, are you? ;) Well......today I got a job, and I sure wasn't looking for one! I am going to start tomorrow, working at the Care Home as a Homemaker. I think this is going to be short term, at least I plan on only short term. Since they moved into the new facility, each neighborhood (hall) has its own kitchen and dining room. The homemaker on each neighborhood makes the residents' breakfast, cleans up, etc. In the afternoons, they clean bathrooms. But they only asked me to work 6-10 AM, cooking breakfast. The reason for the hurry is that one gal is due to go into labor any time now, and they are short of help.
But about the new career.....I am looking into becoming a literary agent. This is mostly to help my sister, who needs an agent to submit her work to publishing houses. They won't accept it directly from her. So I'm researching online what to do, and so far have found you don't need any special training or education to do that job. Wish us luck! Well, not luck, but blessings. :)
Beth is already feeling better today! Praise God. She got back over to the home before noon today, happy to be back.
I need to do more research, see you later.

It was indeed dispicable, but I must admit that I was surprised by the "artist's" reaction to the criticism. It was a fairly good reaction.
By the way, Pat - there were at least two of us who posted that we liked chiken toppings on pizza, but I only see that one was noted.
I, too, was glad to hear the artist has decided not to unveil the painting. He seemed genuinely surprised at the reaction he got from Christians. It amazes me that he wouldn't know what the reaction would be!!
I don't think President Obama posed for this photo, so I won't fault him on this one. :)

Maybe one of you who mentioned it didn't vote on "Other"? If you voted, the word "Other" will be bright bold in the list on your computer.

Wow! Beautiful, Kathleen!
Thanks for putting that in here today.
Thanks, Pat. I just love how the colors started out so bright and then it almost went dark and then it cleared up and went to white. Strange. Mysterious. Cool. Someday, when I have a faster lens, I hope to get even better shots of the moon. :)
Pat - you said that if we wanted to vote for "other," then we should mention it in a post. I did, and one other did also. I found no place to "click" on these. Should there have been?
There was no little box, etc.
I've been resting and sleeping a lot. Trying to get better. I got all my laundry from the trip all sorted and ended up back in bed before putting any in to wash. I get wiped out with little effort, but my asthma is a big part of that. I've been struggling to breathe and that is quite exhausting. I'm using my nebulizer every four hours. My fever is still down, though, so that is a good thing.
Larry-Glad you like my photo, thanks. I am so sorry to hear of your friend who died recently. I will pray for you and her family and friends who are grieving the loss of her life here on earth.
I figured out I took nearly 2600 pictures on our trip. Of course, many were of birds flying and fishing and such on continuous shooting mode, so I can shoot off quite a few in a short time that way. It's still a lot to go through and back up and weed out and keyword. Ugh. I've had a headache so I haven't even worked on them much, yet.
Janet-So glad to hear the good news about Beth!
Looks like the thunderstorms are about here. I will go for now and rest some more.
Another pic from the trip...(Selway Falls)

Al, if you clicked on Refresh, you should see the boxes. Everyone can vote and then you tick the box beside "Other".
Oh, well, just a lot of fun so, we know you like chicken! I must remember so that I can buy you the right pizza when I visit you! ;)
Pat you have to try the Toppers Chicken Melt....Delicious!
A busy day here today. I am off to bed. Night all and know you are all prayed for.
Hi everyone. Just back from coffee and walking a mile a the gym. It is another nice day here although a bit overcast this morning.
This afternoon I plan on attending our friend's funeral at 3 pm and have a few errands that I plan on attending to either before or after the funeral. Pat is still sick with this cold that has developed and yesterday evening and again this morning is running a low grade fever. Our daughter is still sick with the flu and not able to work. This has been a tough year for her in trying to get in work hours. Fortunately they put her on a part-time basis.
Pat, I read the article and the painters comments. Al, I am not sure he was talking about the same thing as the article since one mentioned the train station and he said he wouldn't display it in the park, if I recall correctly. I was not familiar with that website and have put it in my bookmarks for new sites to monitor.
Janet, you have more energy and are so willing to help out. Hope this job doesn't stress you as the other one did. The literary agent business sounds interesting. It is amazing what resources are available on the Internet on about any subject.
Kathleen, another beautiful photo. Landscapes and flowers are my favorite subjects for photos and paintings. Sure hope you are feeling better today.
Marilyn, I don't think eating a diabetic diet would harm any of us.

So, it's "slow start" day! :)

Ruth Ann, isn't it great to sleep until you feel like getting up? :) I had to laugh at Darrel---he told me a while ago that he got up around seven, went to the living room, etc., then about 7:30, he was thinking "She should be getting up any time." Finally he remembered that I was to go to work at 6! Good thing I wasn't depending on him to get me up!

Hi everyone. I have the whole day to myself. We may get some rain later today or we may not. We had a nice time at the senior center this morning and then 5 of us went to walk at the gym.
Pat is still fighting her cold and is still running a low temperature. Stacey spent most of the day yesterday a the ER across the street from where she lives. She was dehydrated as hadn't been able to keep anything down for three days. They gave her fluids by IV and the blood test showed she no longer had the flu in her system. The doctor gave her a clearance to go to work today. We haven't heard from her so hope she was feeling up to going today.
Carol, I know what you mean about dental expense. Just getting a tooth pulled is going to cost close to $500 and the crown I need is over $1200. I already spent over $500 for fillings plus the share of the cleaning cost not covered by my dental insurance (which only covers cleaning and x-rays every three years).
I feel rather dumb in that when I answered the survey I didn't even think of Easter as a holiday.
Janet, glad your new job went so well and hope you aren't expected to work more than the hours they told you. I felt that Beth would feel a lot better once the gallbladder was removed.
Ruth Ann, how long have you been taking Spanish? How is your son getting along in her apartment?
Five o'clocks, Ruth Ann?? We used to have four o'clocks--are they the same flower? Maybe the time difference? ;)
I'm home from work, have filled Beth's water jugs and am ready to take them back to her. She hates the chlorinated water in town, and they didn't install a filter anywhere in the new home. Lots of mistakes in that place.
Time to go for lunch, back later!
Interesting to read that you are studying Spanish, Ruth Ann. Paul speaks it quite well. It's so enjoyable to go with him to the supermarket and if he thinks the cashier is from a South American or Central American country, he goes right into the Spanish and has quite a lovely conversation with them and the way their faces light up is so enjoyable to view.
Don't feel too bad larry neither did I till I saw the others....it was an Oh Yea moment.

The spread of the so-called 'swine flu' demonstrates yet again how useless and sometimes deadly a mutation can be. Furthermore, as the infection spreads around the world, the search for an antidote is desperately sought, but the very fact that the virus is seen as something to be opposed actually supports the Biblical view of this world. It is always good and right to oppose sickness, but in evolutionary terms, why don't humans simply resign themselves to it and allow the strong to survive? The evolutionary point of view would say the virus has a 'right' to live, so 'good luck' to it!
Even worse, some people are actually trying to blame God for the pandemic, yet it was Man's original sin which brought disease and sickness into a perfect world. We have no one but ourselves to blame. God offers a cure, but Man refuses it because it does not come on Man's terms.
The fact that living things, and viruses can mutate is part of their design. Change within a species gives organisms the ability to adapt if the environment changes, but mutations almost never adds new information to the DNA, and most mutations are harmful, and they usually subtract information. The trend is down, not up, which absolutely contradicts Darwin.
The great hope for this fallen, diseased, weatherworn world, is the return of Christ, who has promised to bring restoration, everlasting health and peace to all people. Unfortunately, for evolutionists, this cannot be a part of their thinking, because it leads them into the first chapters of Genesis. They would rather believe a silly lie than acknowledge Biblical truth.
Richard Gunther
How true, Pat! What Mr. Gunther says is correct - mutation always results, not in adaptation, but in "anti-adaptation" - in harm to the organizm. If we had evolved via mutation from apes, etc., then we'd all be dead, and there would be no human race. But Christ is coming again, and then there will be true adapation - to His eternal and perfect environment! Oh come quickly, Lord Jesus!
Hi, friends,
It's a really, really rainy and stormy day here in Nashville. I went out for a few moments in midday, because I had been so negligent to bring in some personal items from the car including my cell phone. Then, proceeded to the bank and of course, was tempted to pick up something at a drive through restaurant. Don't think I'll do that restaurant again - those 3 chicken fingers were more like "chicken little fingers" --- maybe they used banty hens! At any rate, the price was exhorbitant for such a small serving.
I had not been about to get onto the net today, so finally called the cable company, and the technician kindly and patiently worked me through the fits and starts of unhooking the cable modem, rebooting the machine, etc. until we discovered that the wireless router had become "confused" overnight and needed to be rebooted, too. I warmly thanked her for her kindness.
It's so nice to breathe a sigh of relief and be here online with my online family.
About Spanish class, we've had 1 lesson a week for the last 4 weeks. On hour per lesson, one lesson per week. I'm so thankful for the lady who is teaching us. And, plan to purchase Rosetta Stone to further my Spanish education. It's pretty important to me since I'm due to get a hispanic son in law in a few months. Since his mom hasn't been successful learning English, it's imperative I try really hard to be able to communicate with her. She's such a sweet lady, as are all the family members.
Please tell Paul I surely wish he were close enough to coach me along!
Y'all have a great day.
Ruth Ann
Good for you, Ruth Ann, learning a new language! And now....what about those five o'clocks? (See my last post.)
I worked again this morning, and will again in the morning. But I don't much care for not knowing more than a day ahead if I will be working or not. Goodness knows, I have plenty to do otherwise!
I was so frustrated about not having all the photos I ordered at Walmart, even on the discs, which were supposed to have ALL of them. Well, they called me a couple of days ago and said my photos were ready. So, obviously, the order wasn't complete when I picked it up or else the guy only looked for ONE envelope. I have called my dear son-in-law and asked him to pick them up, as he goes to Liberal every Sunday. OOPS! I wonder if the photo part is even open on the weekends.........darn!
I'm feeling really frustrated this evening. There are so many things I want to do and accomplish, and I feel as if I am just spinning my wheels! Guess I just need to quiet my mind and listen for His still, small voice.
Janet, have you ever read any of Flylady's posts? She'll help you get organized! lol
Anyone else going to vote?
There's a tie for first place and we really need to break the tie!

Slow but busy morning....doing nothing but being busy.
My checkup was okay. My numbers were down even though a couple are still too high. But I still go back in three months for glucose blood work and an appointment a week later. After that Ivalou and I went to Borders Book Store. She had a gift certificate and bought a cookbook for my Secret Sister for Mother's Day.
By then Ivalou and I were hungry so we went to Bob Evans...I love those Wildfire Fried Chicken Salads and the savor size is plenty big enough for a meal.
After that we went grocery shopping. Now, I wonder what I can have for lunch!
Ivalou is coming over this afternoon and bringing pictures for me to scan. She purchased one of those Photo Picture frames and I told her I would scan photos and put them on SD card for the frame. July 22 is her birthday and that's my birthday gift to her.
So I best get my lunch made and eaten! »ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏïS«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«

Oh, yes, Pat. I'm a Flylady regular! That's not the kind of organizing I'm in need of just now, more the mental kind, and just deciding which direction I really want to go.
Shirley has asked me to do the cover for her next book, so that gives me yet another project! (I really needed another one! ;)) But I am honored that she asked me.
I worked this morning, had very little sleep last night. I need a nap this afternoon so I can stay awake for the Community Theater's play.
Etta Sue, has your InterStim surgery been scheduled yet? If you told us, I must have missed it.
Oh, is it time for lunch, Etta Sue?
I'll be right over!
Janet, I think those "five o'clocks" I'm talking about must work overtime an hour and then close their petals...maybe like the lady who loves em so much???
:D
I found some great coloring pages for children. One site has 13 sets of Christian oriented coloring pages, as well as many other things for a child to enjoy from an educational standpoint as well as activities for them to do. Y'all may want to check it out for your children/grandchildren.

Have a great day!
Hi everyone. We have just had another brief rainy period. Last night we had about .4 inches of rain.
This has been a very busy day for me. Pat is still staying in but seems to be feeling much better this afternoon and we plan to go out to eat in a little while. I really hate to take our new car out of the garage (where it has been all week) as there is a chance of hail this evening. However, nothing happening right now.
After a meeting this morning I went shopping for a new TV for our kitchen. The one we have been using lost one of the color guns and everything was pretty green, including all the food (which isn't a good thing). I checked at K-Mart and Sam's Club and then went to Walmart and got a Sharp 19" LCD TV. I brought it home and spent a considerable time trying to get the Dish Network setup to work properly. After calling their technical support I finally called my son and he walked me right through the process and it works beautifully now.
I had no time for rest today and am feeling a bit weary this evening but will be back to normal after a good nights sleep.
Ruth Ann, it is nice of you to try to learn Spanish. I am sure it will come in handy over the next years.
Janet, I think you need a few more jobs on your list. I am worried you are going to run out of anything to keep you busy. :) Sure hope you are able to sleep tonight.
Etta Sue, I sure wish Bob Evans would build some places close to us. We usually try to stop at one whenever we travel to Florida or back to Missouri.
Pat, thanks for sharing that piece by Richard Gunther.
Well, I guess the weather decided to copy Ruth Ann'a weather today, 'cause it's been quite rainy all day so far. And it's supposed to continue all week as well. Thanks be to God for watering and refreshing his earth!
Marbeth does the laundry up in the laundry room on Saturday, so she did that this morning. Then, as a reward, I take her out to lunch. We ate too much!
We were in the mountains today and nearly stuck in mud with the SUV. Our son drove so he was the hero and able to back us out or going forward would have meant going into a choice of a ditch on either side of the road. Then, a neighbor was stuck - it is mud time in the mountain and rained with a bit of snow. Our boots had about two inches of mud on them, what a mess we have to clean. Loved the scenery and fresh air.
Al: Very nice that you took Marbeth out for lunch. Yes, we are so thankful for this rain and snow - the reservoirs should be filled.
Ohhh, how romantic, Alan! How lovely that you took Marbeth out to lunch. I was reading in an article that any marriage needs romance and special dates like this so bravo!
Carol, how awful! I'm so happy that you were able to get out of that mud! Wow!
I got up extra early today so am trying to post the new week's Thoughts before leaving for work.
Go to for a nice clean page on which to post. (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=8421.0%20/url)
