JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Happy Birthday, Kathleen.  I hope that you have a great day!

Nice to see you back Pat.  Can relate to that tired feeling, tho' most of my travels have been in circles lately. ::)

Snow has finally departed....hopefully until next year.  The sun has been out again, although the temps. are still cool for this time of year.  Just knew it was wrong to press those light clothes a couple of weeks ago......

Another week and the hardwood will be completely installed.  Another two weeks and the painters, electrician, etc. will be finished.  My daughter has managed to charm most of the unpleasant guys and is exhausted from moving things around for the workmen.  I keep cooking, cooking...will be happy when that is no longer my dept.  After the workmen are finished, then comes the fun part of bringing things in from garage, etc.  Cleaning all the furniture, washing all the china.....GAD!  Life goes on.. the floors are lovely (what is done) and the house will be beautiful.  The occupants will be a mess!

Janet, I am glad that Beth's friend has come to visit.  She sounds like a sweet person.  Will continue to pray for your daughter.

Marilyn, goodness, you surely do move fast.  Hope things go well and it is nice that you are so happy.

I was given the latest AVG update as I am a subscriber, and it works like a charm.  The new version is even better than the old, and that was the best I have ever used.  Could not get my HP camera program to work most of the time.  Then remembered that I had a Digital program with the Sony factory application disks.  Had taken it off ages ago as didn't have a digital camera or scanner.  So loaded up the Application Disks and re-installed it, along with a couple of other programs.  Works like a charm, along with my Paint Shop Pro.
Wish I had remembered earlier, spent ages trying to get the downloaded HP working without sucess.  They keep changing things for the newer cameras....

Time to go.  Hope everyone has a Pleasant Day/Evening.  I will go and vote on the many lovely pictures in a day or so...

God Bless.

Liz

My goodness, Liz.  You've certainly been through a lot with the renovating going on in your home.

I do hope that you aren't too tired.

Goodness, Scotty!  That looks like a whole party there!  :)

Pat, I will be away for about a week.  I will send you a PM as soon as I post this message.

Becki (she told me she spells it with an i rather than a y) and Beth went to see Diane today.  Tomorrow they are going to Garden City, one of the girls who works at the home will drive them; she says she is making 'brownie points' with Beth's Mom.  And I said SHE SURELY IS!  God bless her!

Our guests showed up, we ate--well everyone ate some, anyway.  The two boys didn't eat much.  One didn't like tomatoes, so he ate plain spaghetti, neither likes strawberries  :o so they both ate plain ice cream.  Neither one would touch their salad. Sigh... :-\  Then they all had to leave early because one of the boys was to baby sit his little brother.  Well, next time will be at someone else's house!  ;)  Our turn is done for this quarter.

I still need to finish packing and am tired and so hoping for a good night's sleep.  I will post if I can while I'm gone from home.  Y'all be good---ALL y'all!  ;) ^-^

Hi, friends,

Well, that proverbial "brick wall" hit ME (not the reverse) last night about 7 pm. Then, sadness in that we discovered a huge tumor in our dog's neck, so that kicked my son into a sobbing major depression attack with mom (me) holding him in my arms for aobut an hour at 3 am, then on to work and was surprised that the chairman announced my impending retirement during a staff meeting that I attended by long distance on the phone. Now - a MAJOR headache.

So, I'm going to find a quiet corner and try to let God pull me back together.

G'nite.

We went to the ball game.  Erik pitched 7 innings.  He was fine until the other team scored on his pitches.  The final score was 9-8 with the other team winning.  Seems if Erik had kept the other team scoreless, he would have broken a school record.  Erik was mad at himself.  It was 5-3 when Erik quit pitching with the Firebirds (his team) ahead.  So he didn't lose the game.

We went back to Jo's house until the sun set and then stopped for something to eat.  We didn't get home until 1am.

Then a tractor was disking at 8am and woke me up!!

I got some plants in the mail and need to get them in the ground today.  But it is only 50° right now.  A cold spell is coming through.

Hi everyone.  I had an fun morning doing something different.  After an abbreviated coffee session a the cafe I went to the county senior center and participated in the Holeyboard game for the Senior Golden Games.  I came in second in my age group so won a silver medal, which was a total surprise.  There were probably 8 men in our age group but only three of us showed up to participate.  I had never played the game before.

Not much else on the schedule for today.  I have been enjoying some time at home the last few days without too many activities.  Yesterday I did get my desktop computer hard disk cloned so have my computer spring maintenance done for this year.

Ruth Ann, it is tough when our pets are ill as we become so attached to them.  You have a lot on your plate right now.  Had it not been known in your company that you were planning on retiring?

Etta Sue, that sounds like it was an exciting game.  Sure glad you are feeling better.

Janet, that must have been very annoying to have the two that wouldn't eat what you had prepared.  Hope you and Darrel have a nice trip this next week.  We will miss you.

Happy Birthday, Kathleen.  I have never had any extended periods of depression so it is hard to relate.  However, I guess sometimes we just have to keep going on as it sounds like you are doing.  Hope the depression passes soon for you.

Liz, I hope your family will be satisfied with the results of all the work and that it doesn't do you all in.  It sounds like it will be lovely when it is finished.

Hi Al, Pat and Scotty.

Marilyn

Good Morning. I am about to go curl my hair and get on about my shopping so I can get back and cooK the Lasagna for the church potluck at  4:00.

Not much new here this morning the sun is shining and it is a beautiful day for being outside. I should mow but if I don't then I will do it duringthe week if I have the time. It wil be a busy week and I am leaving Friday for Oregon again.

My left hand is hurting some today so I don'twant to irritate it any more than necessary.

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to be sure to thank everyone for all of the birthday wishes.  I loved the card from the community, cake on my profile, party of smilies from Scottyboy and all of the nice wishes for a happy birthday.  I did have a wonderful day!  :cheer:

Larry-I know this depression is temporary and I feel better today so I know that all of your prayers are helping me and I thank you for that.  I think that as I go on this journey to worse and then renewed vision, Lord willing, that the depression will come and go along the way.  Making sure I don't stay there is the key to dealing with it, I think.

Speaking of my eyes, I'm having a bad vision day today so I am just now on the computer for a bit to thank everyone and cannot read all the posts in detail, but I did skim over them.  I'm sorry.

My hubby leaves to drive to Virginia Lakes, California to open ice fishing season with his brother at 3am tomorrow morning.  I would appreciate prayers for his safety, if you wouldn't mind.

Have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow, friends!

Actually, they asked me not to tell even my assistant that does a daily report when I am not available that I am choosing retirement, Larry, so it really caught me by surprise!

And, immediately thereafter I got that blinding headache, so theorize that for some reason it really shot my blood pressure up.

At any rate, I was able to get some very healing sleep last night and until very late this morning. Then, had to go in to work so got there at 3:30 and left about 9:00, but in the quiet and cool afternoon, the Lord helped me figure out a very challenging programming situation that had me buffaloed since early March.

Isn't God good!

Samantha, depression is a very difficult thing to endure. I know, for I deal with it from time to time, also.

Pat, glad you're home safely.

Today's verse, "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil." Ephesians 4:26-27/KJV

Is one that tells me it's OK to deal with anger, but not okay to become a sinner. Also, the admonition to not let the sun go down upon your wrath is a very wise one - the longer a problem simmers, it can fester into a bigger and bigger one until it really becomes a challenge to work with.

Thanks for participating here - God's blessings on all who come this way.

Hi everyone.  We had some refreshing rain during the night and there is a chance we will have more today.  Pat and I will go to church and then head to the subway station about 45 minutes away to pick up our daughter to go out to lunch and help you get a new TV set.  She has worked overtime to save up the money for a new set that will get the digital signal.  Her old set is many years old and the picture is fading.  We are going to check out a store called BrandSmart that apparently has lots and lots of selection.  I sure hope they have some of those electric riding carts as it is a huge store.  We will then take her to her apartment and help her get it set up and dispose of the other one as she is not suppose to lift more than 7 pounds and I don't want her lifting.  I am sure that will be a full day.

Kathleen, glad to read that you are feeling less depressed today.  Hope your husband enjoys the ice fishing.  Isn't it getting rather late in the season to be doing that?  My nephew in Northern Iowa goes ice fishing but in the middle of winter.

Marilyn, hope you enjoyed the pot luck and got your yard mowed.

Ruth Ann, it is your company's responsibility for the impact of the announcement and not yours since they made the announcement.  In my experience people approaching retirement and having made the announcement or having had it made for them could then enjoy the last weeks as they felt the burdens of the job being lifted from them.  I doubt they will ever find another person as committed to the job as you have been.  The work force has changed drastically since we started working as the mindset is quite different.

Hope everyone has a great day, I sure plan to as I worship and enjoy the beauty of his day.

Marilyn

Good Morning everyone. As I came back from walking me dogs yesterday afternoon Bill was  mowing my front yard on his riding mower, he had already been next door and down the street mowing. I still need to mow the backyard.

About 35 people showed up for the potluck and that included the little kids, some one had purchased  two boxes of chicken 96 pieces. The pastor had told everyone to bring enough to fee 8 people. Way too much food. I was not going to go but Willa bought me a frozen Lasagna and told me tat I was going. Well that was my last day at that church.

I turned in my keys to the kitchen and pantry, today I am going to Arcata First Baptist,. I may do some  visiting elsewhere at another time. I know I need to find a church to attend when I am in Oregon. There is one directly behind Keith's house but I don't know what denomination it is yet. He will  go  to the church I choose, (not that denomination matters as long as it is spirit filled)

I better get busy here and get my breakfast.

Hello Everyone

I attended the funeral in Ottawa yesterday (about 400 km one way).  We didn't get home till about 2:30 am!!!  I'm so tired today.  By the time I got to bed, etc. I just slept in this morning but will attend church tonight.

Church was awesome today.  I don't like it when I have to miss like I did last week but I just couldn't go last week due to me being ill.  When I left church I called Kitty to tell her I was on my way.  I ate with her and Bob.  Then Kitty and I went to Kokomo to the Award Ceremony where we each had three photos on display and brought our photos home.

We left there and browsed at Best Buy and salivated! I would love to have a printer that prints 11" x 15" photos.  I would love to have a laptop.  Wish!  Wish!  Wish!

Then going back to the car we both spotted a Chili's.  We love Chili's chips and salsa.  Best chips on earth!!  I got Kitty home by 5:30.

I watered the flowers I put in the ground yesterday and now I am inside trying to get caught up on the computer so I can go watch TV.  Last night was another sleepless night...I know it was after 1am when I finally went to la-la-land!
