Morning Devotional...From the Writings of Ray Stedman
READ: Job 42:9
So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite did what the LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Job's prayer (Job 42:9).Notice God's insistence on intercessory prayer here. What an interesting thing this is. God tells these friends, "There will be no pardon for you without Job's petition on your behalf. If you want to be received and forgiven, you must not only bring the sacrifices but also my servant Job must pray for you." What an instructive lesson this is on prayer. The significance of prayer is underscored in this passage, and it is so important that God says that unless Job prays, He will deal with the three friends "according to their folly" (Job 42:8 ). How impoverished our lives and the lives of our friends and loved ones are simply because we think prayer is unimportant, and we do not bother to pray for one another. God emphasizes this here: "Your friends will not be accepted, Job, unless you pray for them." When Job prayed, they were indeed forgiven and pardoned.
What a beautiful picture of forgiveness here! I love to picture this scene in my imagination. Here is Job's chance, if he ever wanted it, to get even with these friends. When God sent them to him with their hats in their hands asking for pardon and asking for his prayers, how easy it would have been for him to have said, "Aha! I thought you'd come around! You were the ones who gave me all that trouble. You ran me down, you falsely accused me, you said all those evil things about me, and now I've got you where I want you. I'll let you sweat a little bit. I'm going to get even with you!" That is what many of us would have said, but it is obvious that Job does not do that.
I wish we could have heard his prayer. I am sure it would have been something like this: "O Lord, here are these three friends of mine. They've been stubborn, hardheaded, foolish, ignorant men, just as I was, Lord. You forgave me, and now I ask you to forgive them as well." What a beautiful spirit of forgiveness is exercised here. Job might have said, "I called them miserable comforters, and that's what they were. I suggested that they were proud and cocky, and wisdom would die with them. But Lord, I was just as proud and just as ignorant. You forgave me, and so, Lord, I ask you to forgive them as well." The Lord heard Job's prayer and accepted it, and his friends were forgiven.
I do not think there is anything more contrary to the Christian spirit than having an unforgiving heart, holding a grudge, refusing to speak to another Christian, or behaving coldly in relationships with each other. Nothing is more removed from the spirit of Christian forgiveness than that. What a beautiful thing to see Job praying for his friends without a vestige of resentment or an attempt to get even on his part, but holding them up before God. God honors that prayer, forgives these men, and restores them to His grace.
Lord, thank You that in inviting me to pray for others, You are inviting me to participate in Your forgiveness.
Thanks Pat for putting these thoughts up by Rays Stedman one of my favourite Christian teachers. If we don't forgive others we are putting ouselves in bondage to them for the rest of our lives and our prayers about most other things are unlikely to get further than the ceiling. I have just posted on my blog a very challenging thought on forgiveness from Amy Carmichael from her little book called "if".
love from Geoff T in Adelaide South Australia
Hi everyone and a special welcome to Geoff T. It is great to have you join with us here and share your thoughts.
I had a very quiet and restful day yesterday. We had a good church service and then I spent the rest of the day resting, readiing and just taking it easy.
Today I have to see my cardiologist to talk about the results of my last stress test. This evening we have visitation at the funeral home for a long time friend who passed away right before Christmas. He was 97 years old and he and his wife had been married for over 70 years. It is going to be strange not seeing him sitting in his particular spot in the church service. His wife, who is a few years younger, still gets around. Their daughter moved in with them several years ago to help them. The last vehcile they purchased and the wife drove was a pickup truck because it was easier for them to get in and out of and they had a higher view of the road. It was quite a site to see this tiny little lady, over 90 years of age, behind the wheel of the pickup. Also a little frightenting. She doesn't drive anymore.
Marilyn, it is wonderful that you got to talk with your son after so many years. Things can change and we should never give up on situations.
Pat, thanks for the devotional for this week.
Carol, when we lived in Alaska many years ago we went through several earthquakes, including one where my desk chair and I went sliding back into a bookcase and everything rocked. Our landlords had gone through the big 1960's earthquake in Anchorage and she was terrified everytime a quake occurred.
Thank you for a wonderful devotional, Pat. We do need - or at least I need - to be reminded of the importance (and difficulty) of forgiveness.

I know I posted yesterday but it is gone. I remember Garfield eating! Oh, well! That's cyberspace for you!
Church was great as always. I ran the overhead. When we went to our Sunday School classroom, it was snowing big time. Still four of us women went out to eat. I was going to Ivalou's before coming home to tell her goodbye but there was no car in the drive. She called around 5pm. They left earlier because of the snow and I don't blame them one bit.
I just lolled around the rest of the day yesterday.
I have already been to the bank today and I have a throat doctor appointment at 11am. I was going to go mattress shopping but I don't think they go on sale until after the New Year! I don't get a newspaper and I don't watch the commercials on TV so I am not sure when the mattress sales start. If anyone knows, let me know! My mattress is 40 years old!!! Time for a new one and maybe I won't wake up stiff and sore!
Off I go. It is white out there. Cold out there. But the traffic is moving good on the highway and the plows have been by here in the last half hour. So I will be fine. Need to get some groceries in also! /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

Good devotional Pat. Thank you for that. IT seems some people forgive easier than others...I wonder why that is?
John is down starting the fire. It was warm enough last night that we decided to not stuff it. Oh well this now will take time.
I am dog sitting. This dog has a very high pitched cry. It is constant. She had a surgery on her leg and has a pin in it. The cold really bothers her. I just have a problem with the pitch.
Judy, I can hardly tolerate a high-pitched yipping dog's voice! As bad as fingernails on a chalkboard! Ugh.
Etta Sue, we bought a tempurpedic mattress last time and really love it. No more waking up stiff and sore in the morning. As for sales, I haven't a clue, but you can check online! ;)
Pat, I enjoyed the words of the devotional today. As has been said, forgiveness is something we all need to give, and get! And as to why it is so hard for some to forgive, only God knows. Personally, I think the more selfish we are, the harder it is to forgive others. Lord, please help me not to be selfish!
Geoff T. good to see you posting here. How is the weather "down under?"
Larry, I hope you get an unexpectedly good report from your cardiologist!
Mark is here working on my computer, and Curtis is helping Darrel with alarm work. God is good. How I love having these grown-up grandsons around!
Good morning, I am finally recovered from my trip south. I had a wonderful visit with my friend Willa and her family where I stayed the first night. I went to visit my former client in the nursing home, she was 100 last July. It really is hard to see her so fragile and telling me that the nurses are beating her up. I spoke to her family and they tell me that she complains of them being rough with her all the time. I don't really know what is going on but it sure disturbs me.
After dinner and gift giving at Sarah's parent's home I went home with them to Blue Lake and we stayed up until 1AM talking and played a board game some where around midnight. The drive both ways was uneventful and it is so pretty driving right next to the Pacific Ocean.
I contacted #2 son on Facebook yesterday and we talked a little bit. I have looked for him for 17 years all I knew was somewhere in NC but there are so many people with his same name, I finally gave the search. He is in Huntersville at first I thought he was in Charlotte He said it use to be a small town when he first moved east back in the early 90's.
I know I said the above yesterday, but at least I am still in my right mind and not :idiot: <3 <3 <3
Marilyn there are those who take delight in saying they are net being treated right. There are times that talk needs to be ignored. Glad you connected with more family.
Gradually the dog is warming up and the crying is stopping. With a pin down her leg that gets cold....I really can't blame her for crying. the pain from the cold must be terrible.
We have snow here again. This should be a good blow. We usually have a good sized dump right after Christmas.
Back later.
Cold here on the island. Brrr!
Christmas was nice and also quiet. No company this year. Lots of turkey and wonderful food. I didn't bother going into Boxing Day Sales with the kids. They were going to a movie and I didn't feel up to such a long day in the city.
This is the time when I become very tired of Christmas music and decorations. Put the music away....decorations to follow shortly.
My friend B. and I are going to attend a Chris Botti Concert in Seattle in Feb. when my family gets back from Florida. They are going for two weeks. So will be on my own with the little animals. Hope the weather doesn't get real bad when they are away. I am looking forward to also seeing my old school friend/roommate who is coming from Tacoma to have dinner with us. I was her bridesmaid many moons ago when we lived in Calgary. Her husband died of cancer a few years ago. They had a wonderful long and really happy marriage. He was an American and living in Calgary with his parents at that time.
I also have a new 23" monitor, Larry. Surely is easier on my eyes and I am enjoying it lots. It has a non glare screen and that helps my Glaucoma....eyes get quite sore.
My sister in Australia (90yrs.old), wrote that she lost her little dog to ill health and she is feeling very down. I wrote back that when she feels better it would be nice to find another little poodle to love. We all need something to make life happpy. She is in poor health but built a lovely home within her daughter and SIL's home. They are doctors and take good care of her. so they also can help with a little pet. She really loves poodles.
Time to go and do something useful Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Welcome to Geoff T! It is nice to see a new face in here.
I had a little pain problem last night & it was from something wrong in food - wrong for me. It was either too much coffee all day or eating popcorn but at least I did not have to go to emergency - very little sleep though and today a headache. Other than that - we give thanks for all the good days we are given.
Larry: Nice note you had to Marilyn about how things change and we really should never give up on praying.
Liz: I hope all goes well and you do get to that concert.
Anyone know what the Alberta Clipper is? We have an Alberta Clipper heading this way.
Watched a good movie Fireproof. If you can get a copy it is well worth spending time watching.
Heading to bed, Night all!
Hi everyone. Have a few minutes before leaving for coffee so will go ahead and post.
I had a very good visit with my doctor yesterday. The stress test indicates my ejection factor hasn't lessened since the last angiogram was done. Since the increase in medication is working at this time we are making no changes or doing anything else with procedures or tests. I did discuss with him going to a new cardiologist that Kaiser now has in my local health center. It would be a lot closer and much easier for Pat when I have to be in the hospital. He supported my position and said I could always come back to him if not satisfied. So will seek my next appointment with the new doctor. I was also able to get my pacemaker checked while I was there so that saves another visit next month.
We are attending the funeral I wrote about yesterday at 11 am today.
Liz, my new monitor is also a non-glare surface. My laptop has the glass on it and it can have glare but have adjusted to it.
Time to leave the house. Hope everyone has a great day.
Judy, if you're in the path of an Alberta Clipper, it sounds as though you are in for some weather! :o
In fact, that may be what's causing our bitter cold temperatures today. It's only just above zero at 9:45 a.m. and not expected to get out of the teens all day. (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi240.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff293%2Fpairajeans%2FFun%2520Gifs%2F9.gif&hash=542088aeff50b4aeeeb4ebd1741199813f4769e6)
Yes, Fireproof is a good movie. Grandkids Curt and Toni received The Love Dare book that goes along with the movie, for Christmas. I am wanting to see Blind Side.
Larry, thanks for sharing your good report! Praise God, He is still taking care of His own. Each day we have to live in some degree of good health is a blessing. And when we get promoted to Heaven, that will be the best day of all, even though we usually don't think that way. It is then so hard for those who love us.
What is an Alberta Clipper? Sounds like a tall sailing ship.... If it needs water, it won't be heading my way! ;)
Carol, I hope your problem has been resolved, and your headache has gone away. I had a bad night, too, but last night was better. Being up for several hours in the wee hours doesn't make for much energy the following day, does it?
I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. And I just called to get one for Darrel. He has been sick since Christmas Day, getting worse each day. :'( He keeps having this recurrent prostate problem that really makes him feel terrible. I wish they could find something to cure it, not just quiet it down for a month or so.
We never did get any snow to speak of, still dry here. But we are thankful the awful wind died down, and the temperature is fairly mild.
I hope you all have a great day!
Edit: An Alberta Clipper is WEATHER? Do tell us more! I have never heard of this before! :o
The girls are watching Mayday on the TV. Kass is wanting to be a pilot and finds this interesting. Better this than some of the other garbage that is on.
It is a sunny day, the sun glistening off the snow is quite beautiful.
Have to run I want to call Pat before too much later. She is in for a snowstorm today.
Hello to all my new friends at CPC. I do quite a bit of reading, but very little posting..... it just doesn't come naturally!!
What wonderful Christmas' you all had and comments made of how Christ was more remembered this Christmastime than in previous ones was reiterated by our pastor, this past Sunday.
Although we, Ontarians, have heard the term, Alberta Clipper, many times, I "Googled' it and came up with this:
http://www.usatoday.com/weather/wclipper.htm (http://www.usatoday.com/weather/wclipper.htm)
which seems to be the most straightforward definition.
May God's Blessings follow all of you this coming year.

I am enjoying Hotel Gann very much! It is so quiet, lazy and comfortable here. No interference. The phone only rang once all day yesterday! I wonder how Ivalou is doing. I know it isn't quiet where she is. Two adults...five kids...and if Jo is doing her job of babysitting...more kids! Just hope that Ivalou takes time to rest and put her feet up and do her own exercises! There I go, wondering about Ivalou! She's my sister and I love her!
Someone said that mattress sales are after the New Year and maybe not until President's Day in February. I am really not in the mood to go shopping when it is soooo cold outside!! I did check out the Tempur-Pedic mattresses online. Janet, are they hot? My Memory foam mattress pad was so hot! I am looking at the Sleep Number mattresses. I can change them if I change!!
I may watch some more home movies today. That is fun to see what I did 20 years ago!xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Waiting to drive over for a yearly mammogram. My headaches are under control with Ibuprofen and I hope it will be alright soon as we are going to the mountains tomorrow for about five days.
JudyB: I know about the Alberta Clipper because we used to get quite a few in Minnesota and they even dip into CO at time. (We blame every bad wind on somewhere in Canada ;D) Just kidding!
Larry: We know what convenience is important to where you have medical care.
Don is signing on to a new doctor outside of the VA and this is because: if and when the new health care bill goes through, there will be many many doctors who will freeze their patient list - they can only handle so many and they have mainly kept their patients but not taken on a more patients. So, if anyone believes they need a specialist (particularly in cardiology) be sure to get registered with the new doctor now.
So That is where all the cold weather comes from...Alberta! Doesn't that originate in Alaska! Isn't that USA country? :D  Just Kidding!
Kass ran out of gas in the snow blower. That means a trip out to get more. Might as well get all running done at once.
RuthV has 220 feet of driveway to shovel today. I have told her to be careful the snow is heavy and we don't need her or Everette in the hospital! I am so thankful for Kassie and her enjoyment of using the snow-blower.
Was speaking to Pat earlier. Paul has left, and she will let me know when he gets home in the south. We need to pray for safety for him, although he has new tires on the van.
John and Elizabeth are stacking the last of the wood that is downstairs. We are going to Tim Horton's for Coffee with Doug and Kassie has 2 gift cards that are burning holes in her pocket. So give us an hour and we will be gone.
Have a great day everyone. A former pastor put this on Facebook.
Happy New Year!! Each new year brings anticipation, and sometimes a touch of fear, but, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13 : V8) and it is good to remember, "the grass withers and the flower fades but the Word of the Lord remains forever. And that word is the Good News that was preached to you." 1 Peter 1:24 - 25
'Mornin ... :hello: It's raining (again) here today! Not too surprising for Oregon. I don't have plans to be out in it, so will enjoy it from inside.
Janet, I saw The Blind Side right after it was released, last month. The local bank hosts free movies for seniors (50 and over) once a month, on the 4th Tuesday. These are first-run movies and always G rated. That is a very good movie -- and a true story.
The "Real life" family/star portrayed in the movie will be on 20/20 tonight. Check it out, if you can.
I've (sorta) cleaned up my place, and have it back to "normal" again. I'm ready for a new year to get started.
Good afternoon: Christmas was wonderful, this evening we are going to our daughters for dinner, perhaps we will leave a little earlier to do a little site seeing then head on over to her home.
I had also tried changing some setting without much success but now all is corrected.
Have a great rest of the day.
Ruth
Ruth Glad you had a great day. Wish Sue and the family a Happy New Year from us. Are you doing anything for New Years Eve? John will be gone and the girls go to bed early so I will be for the most part alone. That is fine I will curl up with a good book and enjoy the solitude.
Thanks for welcoming me to this forum folks. I am on my way to work at 8:30am on ther train on Wed 30/12/09 as I write. It will be 39 celsius today in Adelaide which is over the 100 farenheit temperature. Can I please make a prayer request. My eldest son and his wife are separated at the moment and both Christians. Divorce looks like it will happen. We love them both dearly. It is a lot about forgiveness which is on this devotional. It is one of the most critical doctrines of the Christian faith when you see the devastation it can cause. I believe some healing is taking place at present. I believe there is no situation that is so bad or no evil that the Lord cannot overcome if we walk by faith and not by sight. Can those who beleive this please pray for my son Darren and his wife Nat who I have mentored as a photographer and we have photographed many weddings together. love form Geoff T
Geoff, one thing you can be sure of. When you ask for prayer from this group the prayers go forth! I am praying that the forgiveness required in this situation will be found and that the Lord will lead the way, for all parties, to His will.
Geoff, I will be, and am, praying for Darren and Nat. Forgiveness is not about who's right and who's wrong ... it's about releasing the other party from our own hard (or hurt) feelings, and finding healing in our own spirit Unforgiveness can only hurt the one holding onto it ... I probably haven't said that correctly, but I know the Lord can bring about His perfect will in all things as we ask for it.
O Geofft, I can attest as a pastor that every forgiveness situation has two sides. As has been said, unforgiveness only hurts the one holding on to it. Oh may our Father bring both Darren and Nat to confession and forgiveness through our Lord Jesus Christ.
I also googled Alberta Clipper, as I wasn't satisfied with what Mr. Webster told me. Guess I need to get modern and google first, huh?
I will also pray for Darren and Nat. Our God is able---and willing!
Please pray for Darrel. He has been sick since Christmas day, fevers and chills and prostate problems, now passing blood. He went to the doctor this morning, he just gave him a prescription for Cipro and sent him home. >:( Our doctor is out of town until next week so he had to see another one.
See you tomorrow.
Janet don't let him play around with this. Murray our brother is still too fresh in our memory.
Geoff I to am praying. I also know how hard it is to forgive at times. Father soften the hearts of this family and give them your grace to forgive each other. I ask this all in Your precious Name.
God bless you all
JudyB
Geoff I too am sitting here praying for Darren and Nat.
Janet I am also praying for Darrell.
Not much new here just staying in out of the rain. I did go to the bread store today for a couple of loaves of bread and made some more homemade organic yogurt. I like to put a little ground flax seed and a little cinnamon in mine when I get ready to eat it.
Good late evening...Sometimes this time of day or night I get a 2nd wind as everyone winds down and goes to bed. Im able to think clearly on thoughts sometimes really groggy and at times falling asleep-but its time for self and thoughts-I can honestly say its completely selfless because you must get renewed to help face the daily life, if not-you are crabby and don't do any one much good when your crabby!!! My goal is to rejoice in the day which the Lord Hath made and be glad in it...
Pat a lovely devotion-sounds like someone else who had made intercessory prayer, Jesus, on our behalf...who ask Him to forgive us!!! So it should be with each other, too! Thank you for the reminder...
I pray for your son n dil Geoff...
Isn't it nice to have the holidays nearly done and everything getting back to normal for everybody...
I didn't get all riled up with the Christmas season-I think it helped lots by not watching tv...
Glad you all are tucked in and back home and pray for all the aches n pains, to disappear, be assured God knows-listens to your prayers-ask & receive, and know that you are healed by Christ stripes. God is Love-If God Be For You Who Can Be Against You?
Blessings to all!!!
thank you to all who have undertaken to pray for our darren and nat. They are 2 lovely people who have been sidetracked by our enemy.I believe it is God's will that they not divorce but things are not good at all. Please pray for a total change of heart for them both towards each other.I too pray for Darrel and his illness and that he receives the medical attention he needs. regards geoff t

I have prayed for Darren and Nat and Darrel. So much going on in this world. So much sorrow and pain.
I am missing my sister! I will be glad when she comes home Friday. I have enjoyed the alone time but it is wearing thin now.
I got my mail yesterday and there were three ads about mattress sales now thru Jan 5th. So I called Tony and I am to be at his house tomorrow morning at 10am. We are going to those three places, probably eat out somewhere and may go back to one of the three to purchase a mattress for me. Then Kitty has said I could go with her and Bob tomorrow evening for New Year's. Just to eat...not to celebrate like I did many years ago! Too old and too wise for that now!
I watched home videos yesterday. So much fun seeing Bud, Charles (BIL) and Mom and hearing their voices. My new DVD/VCR was a good purchase. (last summer)
Today is a mammogram for Kitty, something that Bob doesn't like to participate in. So I am going with Kitty and then to swim. There are predictions of snow this afternoon but only an inch by midnight tonight. We can handle that!
It is cloudy today and the last I looked, only 24 degrees with a high of 34 today! BBBrrrrr!!!---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@

Thanks for the prayers for Darrel. He is feeling some better, doesn't seem to be running a fever this morning, and can void much better now. But you can bet he will be seeing another doctor!
I have most of my Christmas things taken down, just need to put away the two little trees and clean up the wrapping mess that is in my studio. Keeping it back there kept it out of the way and out of sight, and I could go in there and wrap something at a minute's notice.
Juanita, I'm sure you are better off not watching TV. But on the other hand, there are many choices on TV now, and we are responsible for the ones we make. I get really tired of the TV going so much, as my husband watches a lot of Westerns and cop stuff. Ugh. I watch Christian TV and HGTV.
I don't yet have other plans for the day. I'm sure something will claim my time. I'm not feeling up to par, but hoping this will pass.
Etta Sue I came back to answer the question you asked me yesterday about the Tempur-pedic mattress. No, I don't think it is hot. But they do offer a free 30 (or was it 90?) day trial before purchase. So if you wanted to, you could try it out before shelling out the $$$. Good luck finding the perfect mattress for YOU. It is SO important to have good support while you are sleeping, as it affects your overall health.
Hi everyone. Just back from coffee and then helping my wife, just a little bit, put away the Christmas decorations. I think everything is put away now and she is replacing the items that had to be moved for the Christmas decorations.
We did attend the funeral yesterday and there was a very large crowd. After the service of celebration of this man's life, everyone was invited to a lite luncheon.
About 4 pm a friend called to see if we could come over and help them eat up some of their remaining Christmas goodies. They had invited several others but only one other couple of free. Since they live close by I called them and we picked them up. We had a nice couple of hours visit, enjoyed some goodies and were home by 8 pm.
Today is a free day for me, as far as I know now, as have no commitments. I will just work on several computer projects.
Etta Sue, good luck on your mattress buying. My brother-in-law had one of the tempermatic mattresses when we visited but was returning it for another as he found he didn't like it. I slept on it one night and my back hurt the next morning so moved to a different bed. Pat slept on it while we were there but found she had great difficulty moving around or turning over on it. So we will definitely not got that route when we replace our mattresses. Obviously a lot of people do like them.
Janet, glad to read the Darrell is feeling better. I have taken cipro several times and is does work. Hope you feel better today also.
Geoff, I know from personal experience that is it hard to watch our children go through domestic turmoil and then end in divorce. However, about all we can do is pray for them and stay out of their business and decision-making.
Juanita, you sound like my wife in staying up late. She usually can't sleep more than 6 hours and sometimes gets a "second wind" late at night.
Jane, I know several people who have seen "The Blindside" and say it is a very good movie.
Hi to all,
Hope everyone's holiday was Blessed and Joyful.
If we keep the focus on the little one in the manger; we would all have a joyful Christmas season and be so blessed.
Etta, how can I get the footprints that are on your post.
If you have time, please let me know.
I want to put on my website.
THanks and to all a very Blessed and Peaceful New Year.
Just watched the newscast/video on the Christmas miracle of the lady who died in childbirth and then the baby died after being born.
WHat a wonderful Heavenly Father we have who bought them both back to live for all the world to witness.
A true Christmas miracle, Praise the Lord.
Well John has left, on his way to MN. The battery on the truck went dead, so the trip was delayed while he charged it. Frustrating thing is he had the truck running Sunday to prevent this! Such is the life of a truck driver. I pray the weather stays clear for him.
Have a great day folks!
Joyce, I was watching that, too. Our God is an awesome God!
Judy, I'll be praying for travel mercies for John.

That's a beautiful New Year's card, Marilyn!
I didn't get much done this afternoon. I felt so bad I just lay in my recliner and slept. Hope this lethargic feeling goes away soon.
Nice to see you, Joyce. Happy New Year to you.
That was a nice invitation, Larry, to help eat the leftover Christmas goodies. And a good way for them to use them up, as well.
Judy, better to have the battery die at home than out on the road! Hope John has a good trip.
I hope we have more people join us here in 2010. The posts are getting fewer an d fewer!
The girls and I are having a lazy evening. Good movie and good company.....All we need.
Big trucks have 4 batteries. They only die if the trucks are shut down in cold weather too long. Even if the truck is plugged in, it van still have the batteries die. Apparently there were a lot that wouldn't start today, thankfully we have a good battery booster and didn't need to call service out. Easier for us and the company.
I won't be on again tonight, may God richly bless each of you.
Thank you Janet, I have created a lot of stuff in PSP this year.

Well done Marilyn.
Hi, friends, it's late (or early, as the case may be). My son is here from England, and we've been working on numbers in an Excel spreadsheet. Thank goodness I learned to work in Excel and learned many nice tricks to use to straighten up data, etc. We got lots done tonight.
Happy New Year to everyone, and I trust our Lord will be with each of us every step of the way.
Pat, that's a wonderful devotional. I would like to keep those thoughts in mind.
Marilyn, how wonderful to be able to reconnect!
Love to everyone.
And the sands of time run down... getting close...

Happy New Year everyone. This year has really whizzed past and it is hard to realize that today is the last day of the year.
I had a nice quiet day yesterday and expect the same today. Pat has a funeral of a friend's sister to attend this afternoon. We had rain all night and again this morning but it is suppose to stop by noon and a little later turn a lot colder.
Marilyn, those are very nice cards. Jeanne, I liked yours as well.
Judy, I guess you have to be very flexible when you are a truck driver. We see lots of trucks on the Interstates around Atlanta and Iam thankful for them when I remember they are the ones who gets the food and other goods distributed that allow us to enjoy the life we do.
Ruth Ann, nice that you can be with your son. Will he be moving back from England anytime soon?
Janet, it sounds like you just needed a day of rest and relaxation and recovery. Hope you feel better today. Treat yourself and take another day off.
Joyce, that was a wonderful story of the mother and new baby. Certainly sounds like a miracle.

Can't stay long. Tony just drove in the drive to take me to look at mattresses. It snowed last night so he came here instead of me driving. That is good.
Joyce, go back to the Footprints animation. Then put your cursor over the animation and right click...choose Save As and then remember where you saved it. Then it is on your computer and you can upload it to your website. Easy!
Off we go to try out mattresses.\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\

Thanks for the nice cards, Marilyn and Jeanne. And happy last-day-of-the-year to all of you!
Larry, I believe I will take your advice and take today off--and tomorrow, too! ;) Other than the usual household stuff, there isn't really anything pressing me. Darrel is still feeling bad, having terrible night sweats, which necessitates changing the bed daily. He soaked through two big bath towels and the sheets last night. He has decided he may be allergic to the Cipro.
Welcome home, Ruth Ann! We love you!
I want to watch the 700 Club--be back later!

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
Matthew 28:6
God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!
Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!
Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!
Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

Etta,Thank you for the footprints animation. I will try it later. Take some time off and rest , you really are a busy bee...
Jeanne, I love that song...Thanks for sharing
Janet, the 700 club should definately get you out of your "quiet mood"...It's good to be peaceful and quiet at times like that, we can hear our Heavenly Father more clearer.. Do feel better.
I, too, hope we have more posters and I can post more..But the ones here who are faithfully posting do keep the forum alive and well.
Love hearing the stories and adventures of others.
As for my little part of the world, Jersey is having snow--I will be going over to my mom and aunt's house for an early New Year's Eve dinner. I was taking them out to buffet but they said NO, because of weather and my 90 year old aunt said "her hair doesn't look good to go to restaurant...My mom wants pizza so in about 2-3 hrs. I will call them and ask again what they want me to bring over.
It will be an early night--they don't usually stay awake longer than 9- 9:30
because they're up around 4:30-5 AM
Then tomorrow I will head to Pennsylvania where they are having a whole lot more snow...Will stay there till Monday afternoon, back to Jersey and work.
Can't complain about work 'cause I do think it keeps me alert to be working with customers,(different ones and different views) on a daily basis, learning more about my trade in my golden years. I think I am what they call , a late bloomer...
Told my hubby wake up this morning and he said its snowing , why get up..I said 'cause the good Lord made you to spread his word and how can we be of any use to Him laying in bed..
He went out and shoveled. He helped the neighbor, too, so I said see you are already spreading HIS love to others by helping them.
Do you think he still enjoyed shoveling???? Didn't look it but I was glad that it was a light snow.
Judy, my prayers to your hubby on the road, we see so many truckers in our travels. We travel at least l000 miles every three weeks and its good to know that the truckers are out there...I always feel a little safer knowing knowledgeable drivers are on the road with me.
To all of you , please have a healthy, safe New Year.
hello everyone
as of right now i really have no new news to report... they tried to induce labor on tuesday and wednesday so we can get this baby here and she would not have it.... just made me uncomfortable and in pain for 2 days and then they decided to let me go home and rest and they will try again on monday if she doesn't decide to come sooner:) hopefully she will just decide to come out on her own this weekend :) so anyways i'm now absolutely exhausted and will probably spend most of the day sleeping:( hopefully i can get up and get around and go spend the evening with my dad's family for our christmas get together i really wanted the baby to be here for that but it won't be this year.... anyways i hope ya'll have a good last day of the year and have a wonderful start to your new year! DON'T FORGET TO EAT YOUR BLACKEYED PEAS :)
Man!!! I had a long ol' post here and it just flitted off into cyber space ...
I guess I was posting it when Sarah got here ahead of me.
Sarah, I know you must be exhausted -- as well as eager to have this baby in your arms rather than where she is now! Just know that she will arrive in good time and you will be over joyed to welcome her. I'll pray for you, that you will be able to rest in the meantime ... (won't be much opportunity for that later, y'know).
I was saying that I, too, am very grateful for the truckers out there on the highways. Twice, this year, a trucker has helped me when in distress.
In January, when I had a tire blow-out on my Neon, a trucker stopped, called AAA and stayed with me until they arrived.
In May, when I totalled my Corolla, a trucker stopped, called CHP and helped me call my daughter, and stayed with me to give his witness report. He was very upset that a truck that was closer to me had not stopped or even called in the accident.
I also want to say Thank You to Marilyn, Pat (and Paul) and Jeanne for the cards and music you bring us. And to Etta Sue for the daily graphics and animations. I love them all but fail to let y'all know how much they mean to someone like me. :-[
It is stormy here on the coast today and I didn't get up until 8 o'clock this morning. This is good sleeping weather. I will probably be up past midnight so this makes up for it. Of course I'm usually up past midnight so, maybe, there's nothing unusual after all. Oh, well, I don't have anyone to answer to nor any particular agenda .... guess I can do things in my own time. Whatever needs to get done will be done -- sometime! :D
Sarah: Babies arrive when they are good and ready! Get some rest as you will need strength. My prayers for you and this new child of God!
We drove to Grand Lake yesterday and it was a tough drive mainly because all the trucks were having a difficult climb in the mountains. There is not enough snow but enough for the roads to be icy. We are at the library and I found some travel books to check out. Otherwise, I need to start Wild Rice Soup with chicken, a Ramen Noodle type salad and an enhanced corn bread that has cream corn and regular corn in it. I don't even know what the others are bringing. One upstairs water pipe was frozen as that happened last time as well - it is a difficult spot to work on the problem.
It was minus 18 degrees F. this morning but the cabin is otherwise tight and warm. We saw someone had an ice house out on the lake and only last week there was some open water.
Best of health to everyone and I hope you all have a safe and long weekend.
Hi Jane! We are posting nearly the same time! Storms in your area? I hope you keep your electricity. Happy NewYear to you!
Yep like Jane said it is stormy here on the Oregon coast. My poor little Grubby kitty is outside and I hope he has found a place to hide to be out of the rain.
Keith is home early today and on his computer beside me looking at rains on eBay. The two dogs and the other cat are all in here with us.
Thank you for the comments on my New Years cards. I do love to let the creative juices flow when doing my PSP work.
Judy praying that John will be safe out there on the highways.
May our God bless every one of you today and tomorrow, and may He give you a HAPPY NEW YEAR indeed!
HI everyone. The new year has arrived. I managed to stay up until about eleven last evening and then decided I could bring in the new year in a horizontal position as well as a vertical one and went to bed. I listened to music and read for a little while.
The men are meeting this morning at the Senior Center. I expect there will be a small group there today. I have the rest of the day free so will be working on web work for the upcoming Senior Games and watching football again today.
Good morning everyone! May all have a very happy and blessed New Year. <3
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FHappyNewYear.gif&hash=c1ec848f7b5383dad12ae982becbe48fa7a52e1f)
Joyce, you are welcome. I love the Footprints animation also. Hope you get it saved...if not, ask again and I could email it to you. My email is in my profile. I forget what type of work you do...fill me in.
Janet, I hope you had a leisure day. I love my leisure days. Everyone seems to say I am always busy but I do have my hours of 'feet up with the remote in my hand' times. How is Darrel today? I never heard of anyone allergic to Cipro but I don't know why one couldn't be.
Jeanne Lee, thanks for the music. Sure lifts one up!
Sarah, I know you are so tired of being so tired. That sweet little girl will be here soon. I am thinking of you today...maybe she will be a New Year baby! I am praying for a healthy New Year baby...even if she is a few days late! Hang in there, sister!
Jane, I was thinking this morning that I should change my posts and leave out an animation. Then you thank me for them. I guess CPer's aren't bored with them yet! I do like them and change them around a bit. I know that but doubt if anyone else knows they are in a different order or even new!
Carol, I know you and hubby are used to driving in lots of snow and on ice but when that happens in Indiana...I stay home!! So nice to look out and see it but not be in it! My mind is picturing the beauty around your cabin this time of year...well, all the time really!
Marilyn, your graphics and animations are God's eye candy. They are beautiful. Do you take lessons online? I may have to email you to find out more information on online tutorials if that is what you do. I am leery of it since I feel that is why I had to have a SNRI...Selective Nerve Root Injection. I was sitting so long at the computer that my neck caused my right arm to have constant pain...that was 6 years ago! Now I know to get up and rest awhile from the pc. Beside a laptop and recliner are great combinations!
Al, Happy New Year to you and Marbeth! May 2010 be better than 2009.
Larry, I was watching Time Square, then the local news came on and I decided that I, too, could have the New Year come in while in a horizontal position. So I went to bed, read awhile and shut off the light and went to la-la-land!!
Tony came and we went to four mattress stores. I purchased one at the first store we went to. All I can remember is it is a Simmons. The salesman there listened to me and he was fun. The next place showed me the highest priced ones first!! The third told me that the first one I sat on was the firmest in the store so I told him, I am wasting your time, and left. The fourth was the Sleep Number bed. I decided that since I sleep alone...with two cats...that I didn't need the Sleep Number if I had a firm mattress to start out with. So back to the first place. Wow! Ended up $300 instant rebate, no sales tax, free delivery, and they remove my old set. I also purchased a set of sheets and a mattress protector and no sales tax on them either. HE has to pay sales tax but they jack the price so that he can pay the sales tax. But I don't get delivery until Jan 9. That's okay...I haven't had a mattress and box spring delivered for 40 years...I can wait!!
Tony and I went to Chili's and then home. He replace my flood light, got a new bulb at the back door, put the down pout back on the vertical part and my dryer vent is A-okay! I copied him two Susan Boyle CD's for his truck and home. He's a great son!
I removed my bed skirt and the bed linens today. They are in the dryer. I would really like to pull the bed out and sweep down under but I don't know if that will be now or not. I think Ivalou is coming home today so I keep looking to see if I see a car over there or not.
And in Indiana, it is cabbage to bring wealth on New Year's Day. No cabbage in my house. I have much more faith in prayer than cabbage!! ?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

Etta Sue, add me to the list of those who thoroughly enjoy your animations! Please don't stop!!!
I started my New Year's anticipation horizontal at around 10:30 last night and became aware that the new year was under way - at 3:30 a.m.
Welcome to 2010, a new year in a new decade in a still pretty new century! I had every intention of attending a New Year's party to which we were invited, but Darrel didn't feel up to going, then I couldn't find what I wanted to wear for my costume. I searched until the time was too close to change and drive 30 minutes, then I gave up. I was unhappy and disgruntled the rest of the night. >:( Not good. So this morning, I had a talk with myself and God, put on a new attitude and welcomed the new year, with whatever joys and trials it may bring. God is still in control.
Sarah, good to hear from you! I know how tired you are at this stage of pregnancy, it feels as if you have been "fat" forever. But hang tight, it's almost over. And once you hold that precious little girl in your arms, all of this will fade away so quickly you will barely be able to recall it. All of us here on CP are rooting fot you to have an easy delivery--and of course we can hardly wait to see pictures of your little one.
Etta Sue, I always look forward to your animations, please keep them coming. I do notice when there is a new one, too. Please forgive me for not thanking you or mentioning your efforts more often. Glad you found a mattress that will suit your needs. You should soon be enjoying really restful sleep. And them hauling off the old set is a really nice service, especially for those who don't own a pickup or truck. And here (maybe everywhere) they charge you for taking them at the dump.
Larry, I have welcomed far more new years in my lifetime from the horizontal position than the vertical--and it never stopped them from coming! :D I was going to stay up till midnight, but got tired of the junk on TV, couldn't find anything I liked (could have been because of my mood! :-[) and went to bed at 11:30. I was awake most of the night, though.
I took down the little trees this morning. Now the house is back to drab, uh, I mean normal, again. (How do you use the strikethrough thing? I wanted to do that to the word drab, couldn't.)
I am still in my pajamas, guess it is time to dress and act like I might do something, even if I don't do it!
Janet, it's too bad you didn't get to the party you were looking forward to, but God had a reason for preventing it. Maybe you would have been in the path of a drunk driver or something equally tragic, or exposed to something contagious, or... or..... Praise God for His care of you. :)
And now an announcement:
We have a new photo challenge suggested by Don.
"Show Us Your Best Shot of 2010"
http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=9359.0
I am posting for JudyB.
Internet is down, yet again; so Ruth is graciously posting for me.
Carol, I would love a copy of those recipes.
Sarah, Our mother had a phrase that applies in situations such as yours. "The apples drop when they're ripe". Just be patient, if you can.
Thank you, folks, for praying for John. It has been a hair-raising trip battling snowstorms. Heard from him this morning and he's on his way home.
We've had more snow up here and more to come. Heather is on here way home today, so keep her in prayer.
The girls and I stayed up last night. Had a nice quiet evening together.
I'm going to go to a new internet server; this has got ridiculous.
This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Ruth, thanks very much for posting Judy's message.
Posting for JudyB
John called. He is an hour from the Sault border. As he was passing Marquette Michigan, he saw five foot waves on Superior and the snow coming across the lake. He decided to outrun the snow and as he topped a hill he saw the snow in his mirrors hit the highway. He stayed ahead of it on dry roads. He will be home tomorrow afternoon and we pray that the roads stay clear.
He has outrun tornadoes frequently before and I have never heard of him outrunning a snowstorm.
That must have been some driving John did! I can't imagine trying that in a car, let alone a big rig! :D
Amazing! We serve an Awesome God, indeed
Hello everyone...
Etta Sue, I hope you really enjoy your new mattress and sheets. I enjoy the jersey sheets you can buy at WalMart as in the winter they are nice and cozy and in the summer, they aren't hot and they stretch nicely over the huge deep mattresses.
Good morning, folks! Later today I'll be getting my regular winter exercise - cleaning the snow off my car. Again! Never again will I have a car with a roof rack. :(
Jeanne, your post caused me to praise God (again!) for a garage in which to park my car! I hope to never take such blessings for granted. And I can see how a roof rack would complicate getting the snow off your car. I'm sorry. :-\
Our world outside the door today is encrusted with ice, and the sky is grey and leaden. I don't know if snow is predicted or not, but if so, I hope we get a big enough one to do some good moisture-wise. It's really dry here.
After a few really lazy days, I am ready to do something today!
Janet, I just have to keep reminding myself that this is how God sees to it that I do get some exercise! :)
Hi everyone. It is cold here this morning, only 23 degrees and not suppose to get above the 30's today. I think we are in for some really cold weather. It was cold at McDonald's.
Yesterday afternoon we invited two couples, with whom we play dominos over for dinner. Pat fixed ribs that we baked in the oven for about 5 hours. She had made cold slaw and a 5 cup salad and baked a pie. One of the ladies brought baked beans. We played Mexican Train after they got here and then had a very delicious dinner and then sat at the table and visited for well over an hour more. Pat and I were both exhausted when they left and retired for the night soon after.
Etta Sue, hope you enjoy that new mattress. Since I have difficulty getting warm I sleep between two pieces of fleece, a sheet, the electric blanket, a quilt and the bedspread and still have trouble getting my lower legs and feet warm sometimes. Except for the summer months I have the same amount of covers but don't use the electric blanket. I also like your little graphics in your postings. I enjoy all the graphics that are posted here.
Must stop for now as it is time for us to leave for a meeting.
Judy, hope John beats the snow. I never heard of outrunning a snow storm either. Ruth, thanks for sharing Judy's messages.
Janet, I just now tried to use the strikeout command in the editing tools and it works. Just highlight the word you want to strikeout (must be in the preview mode where the commands are available) then click on the strikeout symbol. Glad to see you are seeming to feel better today. It sounds like you just needed a couple of days to recharge your batteries.

Oh, my! Larry! I broke out in a sweat when I read what all you sleep between/under! I am thinking you need the big M!!! I think I would be comfortable with a handkerchief over my ear while sleeping on my side!! Not really, but just give me sheets and a very light-weight coverlet or spread!
Pat ~ I have one set of sheets that are T-shirt material...they are deep-pocket fitted sheets so I imagine I will be using them. I bought the one set of sheets because I have never had a really good set of sheets and I thought...I am worth it!! ha! (My mom used to say that all the time when she would be extravagant!)
I am looking forward to my new mattress. I may become Sleeping Beauty!
Ivalou is home. She thinks her new medicine to prevent gout is causing her problems. I take her Monday for blood work and she is going to talk to the nurse and hopefully get an appointment with the doctor to talk with her. She is groggy, no energy, no appetite. About the same as before her stroke!
I am slow getting here today since I spent almost all morning talking with Ivalou and her daughter, Jo. Good to have her back home!
And thank you all for your comments on my animations. Gives me encouragement to find some new ones.....tomorrow!! Ha!

Etta Sue I have been doing classes for over a year now in PSP, and have been making stationery for at least 2½ years maybe more. I can send you the links for the Stepping Stones through PSP beginners class where you can start, I can also send you an email with the links to all of Winni's classes. Most of my stuff is from tutorials but I am not allowed to pass on those links. I do make a lot of stuff on my own or tweak the tutorials to suit myself. Let me know and I will send you the links.
John got home toay at about suppertime. About 20 minutes after leaving the truck stop where he was parked overnight the snow started and lasted well into Ontario. He brought home about 2000 pounds of snow with him....like we need more. It is all packed in and under the trailer amd tractor. He has pictures of the truck/trailer, I will try to post some when I get my internet back up and running.
I has Heather's husband over today and he checked out my internert problem and says it is with the company not me. I am so frustrated with this that I have decided to change servers.
Have a good night everyone, God Bless
We are home because it was snowing hard this morning & we wanted to get over Berthoud Pass. So did about a thousand other vehicles. Snow situation near Grand Lake is really poor & they need a few big storms. Not while I am there though ;)
Here, there is a problem either with the thermostat or the furnace. The house was only 47* at 2 PM & we do have a lot of solar heat with so many south windows so that shouldn't happen. The furnace did start again.
Janet: I hope you are feeling better. As for missing the party, I can relate to you now that Don is having such a hearing problem we don't go to anything musical anymore - I miss it and have felt quite badly about it sometimes but then it occurs to me that really we are so blessed with such good health and so many other things - loving family - terrific church - happy & fun neighbors & a place to come like"HERE".
Larry: Neighbors want us to learn Mexican Train. I guess we need to try to learn it - would rather read a book or just talk.
Rruth V: Nice to see your smiling face. Thanks for the message from JudyB. I guess she wants those recipes and I make up soup as I go along so that is difficult and I made the corn bread with a box of corn mix, 3 eggs, a can of cream corn soup, and one can of drained corn. Throw in a little spice like a hot chili spice, just a little, it won't kill you. :D Bake about 25 minutes or until browning on the top. The Wild Rice Soup was a package mix that I threw in chicken and used chicken broth instead of water to make it richer. Some people would use heavy cream but that is too rich for me.
JudyB: Read above recipe. I will try to find a ramen salad recipe. That was some terrific driving for John. He must have had the angels racing to keep up!
Etta Sue: Best of luck with Iva Lou's appointment tomorrow. This seems to be a good time to deep clean the house like you are apparently doing right now.
AL: Thanks for your NY greeting! I was awake until 10 PM or so and did not finish watching "Rear Window" with Jimmy Stewart. I know the ending.

Brrrr! It is only 5°!! No wind though so that is a plus. I just got a call from Ivalou saying it was too cold for her to get out. She may not get to church until April!
I even got cold in the night. Maybe I should have bundled up like Larry!
And Marilyn! Yes, do send me the links on PSP beginners class. I have Corel PSP Photo X2. I think I might have time to do some in this cold weather. Are they the type of lessons that you have to send them in in a week or so? I don't mind that. I guess that makes you do them instead of not. Makes you have a goal.
Okay, I am ready for church but I think I am even going to let the car warm for ME! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Hi everyone. It is really cold here this morning. We will be getting out in it in a little over an hour to go to church and then out to lunch. Then I will watch some football this afternoon. I have already done some Internet work this morning and worked all of yesterday evening updating the rules pages on the Golden Games website that I maintain.
Etta Sue, what is the Big M? I didn't understand what you met.
Carol, Mexican Train is very easy to learn as it basically is matching the ends of the dominos on the table. It sounds like you were wise to not try the mountain pass.
Hope everyone has a nice day.
Good morning everyone. Another cold one here, too. My furnace is running almost constantly and I have to keep wetting towels to put on the rack over one of the vents in order to keep the humidity at something like reasonable. I don't have a way to measure it, but if I get a shock when I touch a doorknob that's a pretty good sign. I try to keep enough to put some moisture on the windows - and of course if it's too dry it doesn't feel as warm.
Sermon today was by author Lee Strobel and he was so interesting. He just moved here & I believe he has joined the church but I am not positive. Just google his name.
Hi Etta Sue! You may really like the PSP lessons, I did not return to them after this move because there is just not enough time, at least it takes me much longer.
We are putting away all of the decorations & now to get candle wax out of a table runner. Uff da
Etta Sue check you email I have sent you the links.
I'm posting the new Thoughts now, as I'll be out later. Just click here to continue. http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=9363.msg143073#msg143073
