Morning Devotional...

RAG DOLL
by Stan Mitchell

"All of us have become like one who is unclean, and our righteous
acts are like filthy rags." (Isaiah 64:6).

A missionary to Australia recalls the long trip, and how exhausted
his three-year-old daughter Rosemary was. Upon
arriving at Melbourne, a woman welcomed her with a little rag doll.
The girl buried her face in the doll's limbs and wept. But the next
morning, she was fine, and she grew attached to the doll.

Like Linus's blanket or Radar's teddy bear, it was her constant
companion. Cleaning it was difficult because the protruding bits and
pieces were hard to clean, and well, because she never let go of it!

She even took it to college. To the casual observer, it was just a
pile of rags, but if you loved Rosemary, you loved the doll. They
were a package deal!

God loves a lot of "rag dolls." Drug addicts, drunks, embezzlers,
sinners. It's outrageous the people he loves! And he loves us, for we
all carry a little rag doll around, filled with the tearsand grime of
living.

Churches carry rag dolls around; the weak, the faint hearted, the
needy. But if we love the church, we must love her rag dolls, too.
It's a package deal. You see if we love the little girl, we must love
the rag doll, too.

Well ... You almost got me that time, Janet!    But I'm getting quite adept at dodging lately!   ;D

I really like the rag doll analogy.  Thanks for a great devotional to start the week.  I'll carry it with me to Woodland ... rag doll and all.   ;)

Thanks for your blessing on my time away.   <3

I just posted in the wrong spot, the door wasn't closed yet. I have been trying to post a bigger photo than this in the gallery and it was within the parameters but when I hit post it would not post so I am putting it here, for now, will try tomorrow to put the bigger one in my gallery. Click the photo to see it bigger.

Hi everyone.

I was getting ready to leave for coffee this morning when the power went off.  Fortunately in a few minutes it was the beginning of daylight so the house wasn't completely dark.  I had to manually open the garage door (don't you all feel sorry for me?)  but by the time I picked up my friend and got to the cafe the lights were back on.

Our son and daughter-in-law are coming over today for a doctor's appointment and will call use when it is over and we will meet them for an early dinner before they head back to South Carolina.  We are looking forward to seeing them as it has been about a month.

Janet, I loved your devotional today.  God's love is beyond human understanding and is so wonderful if we will just look to him to help us be receptive to his plan for our lives.  I have seen such miracles in this last few months within my family and myself.  I am so grateful.

It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day.

I'm here Al!  I even got up early...well, early for me!   ::)

I took the trash out, ate breakfast, read my devotions, walked in my house for 11 minutes and went to Lapel for milk.  It was outdated so got milk at Dollar General and took the other back.  Now I am home.....waiting...waiting...waiting...for the big snow storm that is to hit Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio.  We have 30 percent chance of snow this afternoon, 80% chance of snow tonight with accumulation of 3".  And after midnight and tomorrow 7 more inches of snow and still more snow tomorrow night.  So every one was at the little grocery store in Lapel getting the necessities....milk...bread...cigarettes and beer.  Well, no beer there but at the liquor store.  Glad I only needed milk!

So pray for the midwest or whatever you call Illinois, Indiana and Ohio that this snow wont be filled with fatalities and most of all pray that our electric doesn't go out!   :)

Janet ~ I loved the analogy of the Rag Doll.  Most people have a rag doll somewhere near them.  That's why we keep things that are priceless to us but worthless to others.    8)

Jane ~ You may not read this until you are back, but I sure hope you have a wonderful week!  Sounds very interesting and educational.   <3

Ruth Ann ~ I have prayed for your requests, too.   <3

Marilyn ~ Good shot of Happy!  'Here's lookin' atcha, Babe!'   ;D

Jeannine ~ Are you anywhere near the 11 feet of snow?  I can't imagine that much snow!  I don't even want to imagine one foot of snow!!   :P

Larry ~ You were composing while I was composing but you beat me in posting.  Glad your electric wasn't out long.  I know you are looking forward in having dinner with your son and DIL.    I'll exchange days with you weatherwise!  Maybe I'll call Nick in San Diego and exhance houses today!! ^-^

Good Morning Thanks Etta Sue for complimenting Happy. He is a great dog. I may have to resize it down to get it to post in the gallery. I sized it down to post here and it sure took away from the original to get those kbs down to 75.

As you all know I walk my dogs every day that there is no rain. Well during those walks I am praying and claiming  that particular area for Christ. Just like God told Joshua about every place you put the sole of your foot I will give to you.  So as I walk I pray.

I have to leave now to go to work I will be back later today.

Hello all!  sorry to have been scarce.  we contracted a virus, and while the laptop seems to be doing okay, the desktop still disconnects every few minutes. To reconnect, we have to completely reboot the 'puter. ugh.

Crash (Kristi) has another substantial boo-boo.  We were playing at a Fun Depot (It is like Chuck E Cheese, only bigger, local,  and more fun -- also Christian owned and operated. )  and she did a face plant.  Well, actually, she fell, but caught herself on her nose.  Now, she has carpet burn on her upper lip and right size of the nose.  <sigh>  She's really not clumsy, she just goes so fast that she can't get stopped.

So, anyway. . . .the drama continues.

Take carej!

Oh yea, Happy Birethday Larry

:hbirthday: :hbirthday: :hbirthday:   HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LARRY!!  AND MANY MORE.........

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?  8)  Today I took my very first piano lesson---beginner's Book 1.  ^-^  And I LOVED it!!  Now I have another thing to do (practice).  Just what I need. ;)

Our road is an absolute quagmire!  And we are getting more snow, probably around three inches by now, preceded by rain.  Very sloppy.  Yesterday, my sweet son in law gave me tokens to wash the poor little Cruiser, which we did, at his Squeaky Clean Car Wash, but the poor car was brown again by the time we got home.  :(  Of course, we added another layer or two of mud to it today.

Was it Nick who wants snow?  I have to admit, I love snow, too, but I'm ready for it to warm up, dry up a bit, and then we can get more snow.  But I'm not in charge of the weather!  ;)  I really do enjoy having the different seasons, too.  So I do understand, Nick.

Hi, Karma!  Give miss Kristi a hug for me, poor baby.  Hard to slow down when you have such boundless energy and so much to learn and do!

I want to do some reading and practice a bit tonight, so to do that I must get off this computer!  See you later.

English, A Crazy Language
--Author Unknown

For Those who Reed and Right
We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes;
but the plural of ox became oxen not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice;
yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.

If the plural of man is always called men,
why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I spoke of my foot and show you my feet,
and I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?

Then one may be that, and three would be those,
yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
and the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
but though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
but imagine the feminine, she, shis and shim.

Let's face! it! - English is a crazy language.

Janet, your devotional just fit beautifully with our pastor's sermon Sunday morning. Thank you, and everyone who bring the wonderful devotionals to us. May God bless you for your faithfulness.

Thank you, Etta Sue. I really appreciate your prayers.

I've got a bit of a warm feeling for your heart this winter evening.

Last week, the head of our Nashville office emailed me from the Ukraine. He said he would tell me this week when he returned to the office about a way I had helped youth in the Ukraine "without even knowing it." (Those are his words.)

This morning, he showed up at my cube smiling, and launched into his little story. It went something like this:

Ruth Ann, you remember the timeline file that you programmed a couple of years ago?

(Me - yes...?)

Well, when I was in the Ukraine last week helping an interdenominational christian organization that targets youth who are children of government officials over there, the director of this organization was really having a hard time trying to keep track of all his upcoming camps and seminars and teaching sessions, etc.

I immediately thought of your timeline file and whipped it out, customized it for God's use, and taught the director how to use the file.

Now, what you did that has helped countless people in our company, now is serving a much higher purpose - it's working for the Lord.

-----

Oh, how humble I felt. What had happened is that he chanced to come by back in 2004 when I was pulling something off the color printer. "Ruth Ann, what are you doing?"

So, I showed him this file that would make a Gantt chart - that's like a planning software that puts a bar (somewhat like a bar graph) across a row to correspond with beginning and ending dates. He got all excited about it and asked to meet with me in depth on how I created the file. Well, he took it up to the head of our Region, who was so excited about it that at the company's once annual big sales conference, he was waving it about talking about how this file would help service all our accounts better.

So, the design team took my work, made it "pretty" and now it's used by every office in our company, both in the US and in all the other countries where we have offices.

How humbling to know that something I was working on to help myself learn a not very well known feature of Excel has been used to help my company, but even more humbling to know that it's now in God's corner being used.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

JESUS THE CARPENTER

Did He think as He stood?
And took in hand a piece of wood
Of a cross fashioned from a tree
When He would be nailed on it for you and me

Jesus Christ the Carpenter
As He worked there hour by hour
In His father's joiner shop
Did He ever pause and stop

To think of His wooden cradle bed
In a lowly cattle shed
I am sure He did remember
As He carved and shaved the timber

As He held his hammer high
Did He think of how he would die?
Did He picture when He swung hammer low
The nails piercing His hands with each blow

Did He think when He sawed a tree?
Soon one will be cut just for me
As the tree He would smooth and trim
A rugged one would be for Him

Did He fashion a wooden cup
Was it like the one offered up?
To parched lips; but no liquid drank
As on wooden cross in death He sank

The Son of God this Carpenter
To save poor sinners He has the power
Risen; glorified; He wants to share
The homes in Heaven He has built there

Many things are fashioned with the wood
And oh to warn you this I should
If in life you do not ask this Carpenter to save
Too late when a wooden box encloses you in grave

Good Morning All,

Have been keeping up with readingand praying for everyone, just haven't been posting, didn't really know what to say. I guess u could say the stress is getting very heavy here. Just taking it one day a time with God and wonderful friends.

Colin ~ I love your poem, it really touched my heart and brought a tear to my eye. I wonder if He felt the stress of what His life would bring at the end on the cross. But He was full of Love and Grace and I can take a lesson from Him. Thank you so much. <3

Hi to one and all, just to tired to remember all the names at the moment. Have a God filled and Blessed day!

Happy Birthday Larry!

We are back after working on a hurricane damaged house in Port Arthur, Texas - the forgotten storm & damage.  What a uplifting experience.  We stopped in Oklahoma City to look at the memorial there as well.  Over 2,000 miles round trip.  My shoulder is really hurting so I need to give in and go to the doctor because I can't diagnois this problem -  We stayed at a Methodist church that had recently been repaired - showered outdoors & could hear cows in the pasture.  We slept like logs.  Cooked and ate together & shared good fellowship.  We were in a poor black neighborhood & worked on a termite infested house, with a pond in back (looked for a gator) -  a totally different culture.  Helen (the owner) smiled and sang praises when she received her quilt on our last day - we gave it to her early so I could see her sweet & mostly toothless face.  Bless her heart!

I haven't read the posts for 1 1/2 weeks & do hope that everyone is well.

Awww, Colin.........such a lovely poem!  I have printed it out and will keep it with my painting.  Thank you so much for writing it, and for using your talent of writing poetry to glorify our Lord.  (((hugs)))

Carol, what a neat experience you had!  I want to go do that kind of work, and someday I know I will get to do that.  I hope you get that shoulder problem taken care of quickly.  God bless.

Etta Sue, did your big snow come?  We had several more inches of snow late yesterday, and this morning we barely made it out to go to town.  The highways are covered by a good 3/4 inch of ice, very treacherous!  So I don't plan to go out again today.  The sun is shining now, though, so it might thaw off.  But I think I will just exercise at home, practice my piano lesson, make some Valentines (nothing like getting things done ahead of time!) and maybe do some painting.  There are certainly worse things than being snowed in!  :)

Sue, good to see you today!

Hello to Jeannine, and remember, your friends here on CP are continuing to uphold you and your family in prayer.  Keep looking to Him.  (((hugs)))

I'm going to post this before I lose it.........AGAIN.  :(

Good Morning. I am ready to leave for work with time to spare. I have loaded up the car with a few things that I need to recycle  on my way home today. I also will be stopping by the  Animal Shelter to pay for Bebe's new license.

We had an extra business meeting last night to do some brainstorming, We had three of our people go to a Regional conference over the weekend so they had a lot of stuff to tell us about. Tonight is the regular weekly meeting.

Carol  what a wonderful experience you have had in Texas. I would like to do that someday too.

Colin another of your beautiful poems.

Janet I have been to the gallery to view your  paintings. You are so talented.

I will be making some Chicken, vegetable, curry soup this afternoon while I am home on my break.

Gotta go now.

Why is it the weather people are right when it is bad weather?  Midnight last night..no snow.  But at 2am, it was a white out!  I couldn't even see Ivalou's house with the outside lights on...I have two floods on each corner of the east side towards Ivalou's house.  I got up at 8:30am and the snow is from the east...changed directions.  And east snow means lots of it!  We are to have 9" to 12" of snow by midnight tonight.  And more snow tomorrow.  But it is the winds that will cause drifting and making the roads impassable.  But I have no where I need to go so I am in for the duration.

South of Indy, it is to be icy and then snow.  Not here!

Ruth Ann ~ What a warm fuzzy you got from your boss!  I sure need your expertise when I use Excel.  I am self learned on Excel...trial by error!

Oh, I think I forgot central Indiana is in BLIZZARD WARNING until midnight tonight!!!  Brrr!

I am off to post some photos in the gallery...photos I took to Photography Guild last evening.

Nice devotional, Janet.

Hope that you had a very HAPPY  BIRTHDAY, Larry.

We are starting to enjoy slightly better weather here, but gather things are not so swell in other parts of the world.  Brrr!  Having lived thro' many freezing winters in Alberta, I don't envy anyone having all that snow and cold.  At least on the island, it only lasts for a little while.....hmm, sounds like a song! :)

Must take Misty to the vet for her yearly vacinations today.  She has been very tired lately and not much interested in going outside to play.  At the moment is asleep on my bed.  Hope that her mouth infection has not returned.  That would mean more pills...and cats don't like pills >:(

Took a quick peek at your paintings, Janet.  Lovely.  Will go back and have another look later and post a comment.  Gather there are many new photo's to check out....

Busy with doing my washing today, so best get busy again.  Amanda is still using her crutches and back in college.

Ruth Ann, you did good!
Nice poem, Colin.  It does go well with Janet's picture.

Here is a small smile (I hope):

Three contractors are bidding to fix the White House fence.
One from New Jersey, another from Tennessee and the third, Florida. They go with a White House official to examine the fence.

The Florida contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil.

"Well," he says. "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The Tennessee contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The New Jersey contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers: "$2,700."

The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"

"Easy," the Jerseyian explains, "$1,000 for you, $1,000 for me and we hire the guy from Tennessee."

                              :-\

Could be lots of truth in that little tale!!!

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Hi everyone and thanks for the many Happy Birthday wishes.  It was birthday number 66 for me and I did have a very nice time.  Our son and his wife were not over yesterday as planned as he woke up yesterday morning with a touch of the flu.  He didn't call until about 2 pm so we made some other plans and decided to go out to the place that has the delicious baby back ribs on a 2 to for  1 special on Monday nights.  I called my best friend and asked if they wanted to go with us and they did and we had a delightful time and the ribs were delicious.  My friends wife had been dubious about having the ribs but she ate every bite and raved about them.

I am having a new experience as am using a Linux operating system called Linspire on my spare computer and so far it is great.  It loaded from the CD right now but I may decide to use a dual boot and put it on my computer as a second operating system.   Once I had gone thru the setup it immediately found the wireless connection and so far everything seems to be working.  I am just beginning to explore it.

When we came home at around 2 pm this afternoon it had started to rain but it still was 61 degrees.  It looks like it will rain all night but the last I heard the weather people didn't expect any problems in our area.  Etta Sue, I sure don't envy the weather you and Janet are having and problebly several of the others of you.

Janet, glad to hear you have started piano lessons.  It can be a lot of fun as you learn.  I am going to make some adjustments in my office here so I have room to setup my electric piano so I can play it when I want to.  Right now it is sitting on the bed in the room as have no place to leave it up.

Colin, thanks for sharing more of your poetry.  I have a friend who is a poet and loves poetry.  With your permission I am going to copy off your poems and print them out to share with her.  She is a strong Christian and I know she will really appreciate having them.  She is not very computer savvy and has some trouble with her vision or I would just suggest she come here to read them.

Marilyn, I liked your picture of your dog as well.

Carol, glad you are home but know you are probably exhausted.  We have sent several teams of workers to southern Mississippi to assist in rebuilding and they have indicated it is a very satisfying experience.

Jeannine, taking it one day at a time is something we all should adopt as we look for God's direction in our lives.  Some of life's problems are too overwhelming to cope with on our own but when we surrender them to God he always provides the answers.

Hi Sue, hope you aren't getting too much snow up your way.

Ruth Ann, I know it had to warm your heart to have your boss share that news with you.

Karmat, I guess Kristi is of the age where a lot of bumps and bruises occur.  It was unfortunate they had to happen in a fun place like you were.

Pat, are you getting a lot of snow or are you on the right side of the lakes to not get the lake effect snows?

Well, today I was taking Judy McKenna to Hamilton for her checkup with the surgeon and it was so bright and clear here in Guelph.  But as we got closer and closer to Hamilton, the snow started and we were right at the edge of Hamilton and it was white-out conditions and blizzards-like conditions.  The roads were so slick and snow-covered and slippery...so I found a safe place to turn around and we came back to Guelph!

We'll try again another day.

I had this poem sent to me from Greenisland Baptist Church, Co. Antrim in Northern Ireland and I thought I'd share it with you all.

"Miriam's Baby"
A poem by Janet Broad

I was excited to find out that we
Were having a baby and would become three.
A few months to wait
Until my due date,
The happiest day, it would be.

That day arrived, 'twas a small baby boy.
I couldn't express my feeling of joy,
As I looked at his face,
...At his beautiful face,
A whole life ahead to enjoy.

Then one day as he played near the door,
With a bowl and stick on the floor,
Before I could cry out,
I heard someone shout
'I thought we'd finished, here is one more".

Right there in a heap on the floor
Was everything I'd ever lived for.
My son was dead,
Because Herod had said
'Kill them all under two, it's the law'.

I cried and I wept,
For days I just kept
To my room, and I stayed in my bed.
I could never sleep,
I could only weep,
My heart was broken, my baby was dead.

I would much rather
Have been my son's mother
And that he was still here with me,
But for some reason my son
Gave his life so that one
Other could be saved and go free.

Years later a man,
With a touch of his hand,
Changed my life, my Jesus, my king.
He said that my baby
Waits in Heaven for me,
And together His praises we'll sing.
By J. Broad

"While the child was still alive I fasted and wept...but now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me."  2 Samuel 12:22& 23

Hi, friends,

I have been late at work helping my brother prepare a PowerPoint (by long distance from Nashville to Cincinnati). So, he sent the file to me, and I taught him step by step by telling him the next thing to do.

He apologized for keeping me so long, and I reminded him that (1) I loved him, (2) I thoroughly enjoy working in PowerPoint, and (3) that I love my Master most of all. This file is being presented at a large conference of our denomination next week, and my brother doesn't have a secretary.

So, it was such an honor to get to help him by "remote control."

I'm grateful that God has given me the few computer skills I possess, and like the rest of me, it's all dedicated to Him.

I'll be in Atlanta (weather permitting) tomorrow and Thursday, returning to Nashville Friday very early in the morning.

Y'all have a good few days without me.

Love and hugs and prayers to each of you.

Ruth Ann

Good morning all,

We are getting clobbered here with the white stuff, it's pretty, good for photographing, but I'd rather see flowers blooming. We have about 6 inches now which means right now it's falling at a rate of 1 inch an hour, supposed to pick up in intensity, glad i'm in.

Larry ~ sounds like Linspire is a better OS than Red Hat, I tried that and it never found the wireless network. Had another version you could run from the cd and it never even found the direct connection to the internet. Hope this one works well for you. Dual OS and booting are fun. have fun with it :D

Hi Pat, Janet, Etta Sue (love those gifs), Karmat, Liz, Marilyn, Gord, Kevin, Colin and any and all who come through, God Bless you all!

Pat:  The poem from a church in Ireland was so sad but ended with the promise of what is to come.  It was good that you turned the car around before driving through the snowstorm.  It is very nice of you to take Judy to her checkup.  Send along a big hello her way.

:coffee:  Sipping coffee with Hazelnut flavoring.  It is too early and I can only think of places to go today - dr., then quilt at church - there is another meeting but I am going to skip that one as we have to get ready to go and watch granddaughter for about 5 days.  Always a joyful anticipation.

It is bitter cold here again but not the heavy dumping of snow others are experiencing.  Stay safe everyone.

An update on the two high-school boys who each lost both of their legs when they were fixing a flat tire - a girl drove into their car - they are now both released from hospital.  Many fundraisers in the community.  One young girl sold her prize-winning animal for about $30,000 and gave all of the money to the boy's fund.

Marilyn:  You can see how healthy your dog is by the bright eyes and glossy coat.  You take wonderful care of your dogs.

Good morning!  I am so sad after reading the posts today.  I forgot to wish Larry a Happy Birthday.  Please forgive me, Larry!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YESTERDAY!

Well, we do have lots of white stuff on the ground.  Thick white rain!!  Last I heard was 9" and was to snow 3" more in the night.  I do believe it did.  I didn't even open an outside door yesterday but tried to open my side door this morning.  It is a crusty snow.  We had sleet yesterday sometime or other and it is a hard crusty snow.  My g-nephew is suppose to come today with his 4-wheeler + snow blade and open Ivalou and my drive.  I don't know if he will be able to do it.  I may be here until spring!!  And there is no above freezing degrees in the near forecast.  In fact, we are to have down to 18°F BELOW zero every night until the weekend!  Not fun!

And Nick likes the changing of the seasons.      ;D  ;D

As you might already know I am not going anywhere today.  Maybe not even to the mailbox!  I have at least a four foot drift on my drive that is about 20 feet wide!!

By the way, I do have some pictures in the gallery.  I noticed one of you left comments and I thank you very much, Janet.  I took these photos to Guild Monday night and they had some very encouraging comments on them.

Great idea, Etta Sue!  But you may need to add "from the driveway and walks."  You have been busy with animations---thank you!!  They really brighten up the place here.  And thanks for the Valentines day wishes, too!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, EVERYBODY!!  I hope you see or hear from those you love today!

I made three Valentines cards yesterday, for Diane, Abby and Darrel.  Then when I gave him his, I had to explain it to Darrel.  I teasingly asked him "have you forgotten the language of love?"  (He didn't understand the hearts and the XOXOX's.)

Gord, thank you so much for those kind words.  Always good to read your posts here.

Pat, sorry you and Judy Mc. ran into such a blizzard.  Has she been released from the hospital now?  Give her my love when you talk to her, please.

My Abby is more excited about her Grandma taking piano lessons than she is even about hers!  :)  She can't wait to be with me so she can tach me what she knows that I haven't learned yet.  ;)  I practiced probably two hours yesterday.  Darrel told me not to get better at it than he is, and I told him he is safe for a while, at least....but if I do, it will be his fault, because he's the one who enrolled me!

We got more white stuff overnight, and more is falling, to continue off and on through the day.  Darrel is going back to the doctor, so I will have him drop me at the gym while he does that.  We don't want to make any unnecessary trips, the road is so awful.  >:(

Ruth Ann, stay safe on that trip, we will miss you.  It is so nice you were able to help your brother "by remote control" with Power Point.  I envy you those "FEW" computer skills!! ;)  You're great.

Carol, I will get to go stay with granddaughter for a few days next month.  She is busily planning ways to keep Grandma busy.  ;)  I wish they didn't grow up so quickly..........well, of course I want her to, but since she's my youngest.....I'm sure you know what I mean.  Enjoy that  :coffee: .

Hey, Jeannine.  Have you gotten the test results yet?  Prayers continue.....

Pat, that was an insightful poem; sad, but also pointing to Jesus.  I have thought about those mothers whose babies were so cruelly slaughtered in the attempt to snuff out the life of Jesus.....so terrible I cannot imagine.

I must hit the shower and be ready to go with Darrel soon.  See you later!

Good Morning I have been for my workout and not am ready for work, but will go to Tai Chi before I go to Ruth's.

Carol thank you for the compliment on my dogs, I do try to give them the best possible care. I feed them only a natural diet without additives. The dog food is rather pricey but they are worth every dollar I spend. I am just thankful that I can afford to take such good care of them. I also give them a supplement for of vitamins that also takes care of their joints. It is a product that is from the company I have my business with.

Thank you for the work you put into your animations Etta Sue, and I will go look at your photos shortly. I took some yesterday that I will post later.

WOW, Ruth!  How sweet.   :)  My sweetheart gave me a lollipop with a smiley face on it.   :o  They gave it to him at the doctor's office when they gave him a shot, then remembered he is diabetic and told him to give it to his wife.  ::)  But, to be fair, he did take me to lunch at the Pizza Hut.  He said my gift is still at the store.  ;)

Marilyn, I didn't know your kids were just living together.  I'm sure you are glad they are finally making a committment.  That's progress.

We are having church tonight, and it is time to go..........bye!

Hi everyone.

Just returned from choir practice.  Our director is really under the weather so we had a shortened choir practice but she still put us through our paces.  This morning we had Bible study with our pastor as we continued a study of Revelations.

I then went to pick up some material for an organization and stopped at Kohl's to return some slippers Pat had given me for my birthday that didn't fit.  I found a pair of Totes that were marked for $30 and they were marked down to $6.  I have had a pair of Totes house shoes for many years and really liked them so was very happy with my find.  I stopped and got some perfume for Pat for Valentines Day.  Unfortunately it was not the brand she likes so I had to return it this evening.  She decided there was a book she would rather have since the Chanel she likes is so expensive.  That sounded good to me.

Colin, thanks for your response.  I will begin to work on that project in the days ahead.  Our friends should be back from wintering in Florida in the next few weeks and I will give it to her when she gets back.

Marilyn, I am sure you are happy for Gilbert.  Thanks for your birthday wish for me.

Pat, it sounds like you and Judy sure made the right decision to get back home.  The really cold weather is now reaching us although we don't have the snow.  This is some major winter storm.

Jeannine, I installed Linspire on my hard disk of my old computer today but did something wrong in terms of a dual boot and think I overwrote my Windows operating system.  I was not concerned as I really don't use this old computer anyway.  I didn't have any trouble being on the Internet as it found my wireless network automatically.  However, neither of my printers will work with it but I have a KVM switch between my two computers and if I need to print something can always do it from the other computer.  I just wanted to experiment with Linux and so far it is very impressive.

Well it is late so will sign off for tonight.

Morning Everyone,

Well, we got about 2 feet of snow, been a very long time since we got that much at once. I know other places got clobbered worse. Missy goes out into it and can't seem to walk very good, it's hilarious to watch.

Larry ~ that's what i did too, an old comp and did overwrite the Windows OS but that's what it was for to play with. Linux is pretty cool to experiment with, but I will stick to Windows, looking forward to saving enough money to buy Vista.

Congratulations Marilyn,  God sure is good!

Hi Carol, Pat, Ruth, Janet, Etta Sue, Karmat, Kevin, Nick, Al, Colin, gracious can't remember all the names. Hi to Everyone and may you all have a God filled and blessed day!

Still Trusting,

Marilyn ~ I know you are estatic!  What a great Valentine's gift for you and Sarah...well, Gilbert, too.  And mostly Savannah and Forrest!

Now it is down right cold!  Brrrr!  1°F above!  Only suppose to get to 16°!  That's cold for central Indiana.

But my nephew got my drive and Ivalou's drive cleared with his snowblower.  My g-nephew didn't show up but he told Ivalou that the 4-wheeler wouldn't shove this heavy snow.  So it is a good thing Ivalou's son came up.

So I called where I get the car maintenanced and I am to be there at 10am.

Remember my computer making loud noises?  Remember I cleaned it out?  Well, yesterday morning it sounded like a snowmobile running and I realized it was my computer.  I whammed it one and it stopped.  I went back to bed...got sound asleep and it did it again.  After the third time I stayed up.  It did it again so I took off the panel that the fan is on on the case.  I am going to call my pc guru in a little while to see if he has a fan like it and if so, go get it.  I know it won't hurt to run the pc without the panel.  The fan was for cooling and without that panel, it will stay cool.

Please pray for a gentleman that stopped to help someone yesterday morning in Greenfield.  Another car hit him.  His name is Terry.  His left arm is broken and left leg is amputated presently from below the knee.  The doctors are going to have to go back in and amputate above the knee.  His pelvis has multiple factures and his back is broken at the T10 location.  Presently we do not know if he suffers from any paralysis/spinal cord damage, but they do have him medicated under paralysis conditions.  His spleen and liver suffered some damage.  His brain and heart appear to be operating fine.  He had blood around his lungs, which they had to remove and if that continues to be a problem Terry will have to go in for surgery to find out what's causing the bleeding.  What a terrible accident for a Good Samaritan!  Please pray for him, his family and the whole community.  God Bless You.

Etta Sue, what a terrible thing to have happen.  Glad you were able to get your driveway opened up and hope the roads are clear.  In listening to the weather reports it sounds just terrible in so many places in the North Eastern part of the US.

Jeannine, I am in no hurry to buy Vista and will probably wait until the next time I get a new computer.

Back from coffee at the cafe.  It was pretty chilly in their this morning as it is only about 23 degrees here at sunup.  It is suppose to get to about 40 degrees today.

This evening our church group that does a lot of things together is going to have it monthly birthday event and we are going to the Red Lobster.  Since they will be celebrating my birthday and that of one of the ladies in the group the rest of the group buys our dinners and that of our spouses.  We always have a nice time.  Since I don't have anything else on the calendar for today I will be able to stay home all day long so maybe can get a few things done.

Hope everyone has a nice day and is staying nice and warm.

Somehow, I have been waking the last three mornings at 4:45 on the dot & cannot sleep again even after taking a sleeping pill today.  What a rut I am in.... :(

Marilyn:  Fantastic news about Gilbert.  I am going to start again those prayers on one son & his very long live in girlfriend.  Those are the things that my mind cannot stop thinking about even though I do think I have given it over to the Lord.  Terrific news for them.

Etta Sue:  A very sad story about the many you mentioned.  I hope that he recovers well.

So, we are getting ready to drive to daughter's home and watch granddaughter.  Bringing some sewing for her.  The rest of the family will be in Salt Lake City for a hockey tournament with our grandson.  This hockey is really taking over their lives & now - he is trying out for the only AAA team in the state & he isn't even 12 yet  - only 18 kids will make the team so we have no idea if he will get on that elite team - it is a huge family commitment & I am not sure if that would be best but we have nothing to say about it.  The kids must be 12 - and he has been invited to practice with them.  I don't know.

Sleepless in Fort Collins

Good Morning Larry!

Good morning from frozen SW Kansas.  Thermometer says 1 degree!  Brrrr.  Our water is frozen off, not handy at all.  :(  We can get water from a faucet in the back of the garage, so carry bucketsful to do various tasks.  :-\

Etta Sue, what a tragic accident for the Good Samaritan.  So similar to the boys Carol told us about recently.  It is dangerous out there on the roads!

Darrel had to run a trouble call over in Montezuma (about 50 miles away) so I am praying for his safety on the slick roads today.  I told him to take the cruiser, because it has front wheel drive, rather than the service van, which is pretty much helpless on icy roads.

Carol, I sure understand about the hockey.  I'd be just like you, wondering if it would be the best for the boy and his family.  One of the many times to remember that God is in control.  I will pray with you about your son and his situation.  I have a nephew who lived with a girl for several years, they have two children together; When she wanted to get married, he didn't, and vice-versa.  Now she has left to shack up with someone new.  He is heartbroken, they are fighting over custody of the little girls........what a trail of heartbreak and tragedy we leave when we don't follow God's laws!  It's really awful.  :'(  And my sister had kept those kids from birth, so she is having a really hard time coping, too.  The mom moved to another town, so the dad and grandma here do not have easy access to the girls. :(  The daddy is sick with worry because the mom and new boyfriend are into drugs pretty heavily.

Larry, enjoy your birthday meal!!  Sounds good to me!  And the price is right!  ;)

Jeannine, hope you can stay in out of the snow!  Ours from yesterday is so beautiful---looks like that fake snow we used to buy in bags at Christmas time.  Very fluffy and crystal-y.  :)

One of my painting ladies went out to get her mail a couple days ago, fell and broke her ankle in two places.  She is in the Dodge City hospital, has had surgery on it.  I am concerned about her recovery as she has many health problems including diabetes.

Pat, are you all right?  Come in and say "HOWDY," will you?  <3

I shall return...........

Good Morning.

Thank you Etta Sue Jeannine and Carol for praising God with me about my answered prayers for Gilbert and Sarah. This Mother was so ecstatic and flying high last night. We met at her parents house about 8:30 last night and I was back home by 10pm. I just had to share my excitement on here before I left and kept coming back to see if any of you had posted anything in celebration with me.

I took all the photos using three camera two still and one video. The video camera was set on a cabinet. So some of the photos aren't the best. I will crop some and post them later, Gilbert's camera is in his possession so I only have the ones from my camera.

Got to go finish my soup that I am eating for breakfast and get to work.

ps they were married in a CHRISTIAN ceremony

;)  Hi to all.  The reason for the test is yesterday i try to post and it would not let me do it.    So I called Pat and she is not very well and we need to keep praying for her as she did not sound good.  We need to always continue to pray for each other as the Lord give's us the strength we need.

Hi Janet.  Abelated happy Valentine's day to you.

Larry. You seem that you are a busy person but that is good and a happy birthday.

Ruth Ann Bice.  It isso nice to here about your opppertunities with your power point and  that it is being used for the Lord's work in an other country.  God is so good to us and we will find out in heaven how our gift's have been used for the kingdom.  Praise God.

Jeannine Hi hope all is well say hi to Michael.

Etta Sue I love your graphic's I don't know how to do that on the computer.

Marilyn.  Gongratulation's Praise the Lord for answered prayer and we will continue to do so that Gilbert andSarah will give themselves to the Lord.

God bless to all.  Gord.

Snowdrops have started to bloom in the garden!!! ;D
I know that seems cruel to folks like Janet & Etta Sue.  Did live thro' one of Alberta's coldest winters.....Jan.7 - Feb.1, 1969...and have a certificate to prove the fact.  Temps were constant -teens & -twenties and even in the minus thirties, with wind chill that freezes the mind!  Back then, we simply thought it was a bad winter!  That was when it was - F. not -C, and we didn't know any better ::)
Simply thinking about that makes the rain seem better...

Sorry to learn that Pat is not well.  Certainly will pray about it Gordon.  You are so right about how we need to pray for one another.  I try to do that on a regular basis.  Will try harder in the future.

Misty & Squeek seem to find new ways to torment each other.  Misty won't eat her treat while Squeek has her's, then of course Squeek gets angry and tries to take it...Now I stand over Misty until she eats.  This morning Squeek came down for her treat, then sat for about a half hr. simply staring at Misty, who finally gave up and went to sleep!  It is like having two little kids rather than adult cats :ticked:

It is wonderful about your kids, Marilyn. Prayers do get answered!

I am very tired tonight.  Did read all the posts and hope to see the photo's in the gallery tomorrow.  Hope everyone stays well and safe.

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

Liz

Well, we couldn't do anything for Valentine's day yesterday, so we did it this evening instead.  Went to a place called The Sea Grill in Eureka.  They had sauteed scallops.  I love them that way!  Marbeth had crab fettucine (sp?).  T'was great.

They are getting married tonight Hallelujah

I have been praying for this for along time, Last month I decided to proclaim that this is the year that they get saved and married. Woohoo God sure answered my prayers fast. Gotta go to Eureka shortly.

What wonderful news, Marilyn!  I'm so happy for you!

Marilyn, I saw your photos that you posted on SeniorNet.  A number of years ago our son and the woman he had lived with for quite awhile got married on our screened in porch.  Of course, we were happy about the marriage.  It was on Halloween and they went to a professional makeup artist and came to the wedding made up as something other than they were.  We had no idea they were doing that and they had a judge come to perform the ceremony and she wore a witches hat.  Need I say that his parents (us) were not impressed and I wouldn't have given the marriage a chance of lasting.  Her parents were not in attendance.  However, they have been married about 14 years now.  This was his third marriage.  Fortunately I kept my mouth shut and my thoughts to myself as it really wasn't any of my business nor did I have a right to try to control him.  It wouldn't have worked anyway.  I have said all of this to say Marilyn, I think I know exactly what you are feeling in terms of being glad they got married.

Pat, sorry to read that you are not feeling well.  I know you keep pushing yourself but sure wish you would have a period of time when you felt very good.  Gord, thanks for letting us know.

We had a very nice time last evening.  There were 14 of us in attendance and I had a very good meal.  They gave me some really funny cards also.

I think our refrigerator has quit working correctly as it doesn't seem to be cold enough.  I have put a thermometer  in the refrigerator part (the freezer is working fine) to see what the temperature is in that part.  This is a Maytag refrigerator and we have only had it 3 or 4 years but sure have been unhappy with it.  I won't own another Maytag product.

Liz, cats can be very entertaining.  Glad you are getting better weather up your way.

Kevin, that is a lovely presentation of one of Colin's poems.

Janet, having frozen pipes is certainly unpleasant and you always worry that one will have burst somewhere.  Glad you still have a source of water.

Carol, have a safe trip and enjoy your time with your granddaughter.

I have several things to try to accomplish today so guess I had better get started.

Good morning!  Still lots of white thick rain on the ground here in Central Indiana.  I got the car maintenanced and tires rotated.  The windshield washer solvent was frozen...that's why it wouldn't work.  So they thawed it out and put in a lower temperature solvent.  They shouldn't have charged me because they top off the solvent when I get the car maintenance (their solvent) but they charged me 'only' $24!  Geesh!

I then went to the ATM for some money and ate lunch at Hardee's.  I took my compressor panel with me...the guy in Greenfield never even called me back.  I found out there was a computer place in Pendleton but it was closed with a sign saying they would be back at 10.  It was after 1.   :idiot:  I stopped at Kitty's and left her my house key for when I am in Florida so she can take care of Ali and Inky.  There I found out where the new computer place was in Lapel.

I stopped in Lapel and was told they didn't have a fan but Best Buy has them.  So I drove to Noblesville...got the fan...back home and in 5 minutes had the old fan unscrewed and the new one screwed in and put the panel back on the compressor.  Voila!  Fixed!

I know....too much information!!  But I was happy I could do it!

Then Ivalou called me and said our taxes were done and would I like to go together to get them and then out to eat somewhere.  So we ate at Pizza King.  Our taxes are in the mailbox ready to be picked up.

And Kitty won the price with the highest drift that I saw in all my driving yesterday.  She can't see out her kitchen window and it is the highest window in her house.  I'd say at least 6 foot deep!  Natural drift...not snowplow made pile of snow.

And I thought it was to get warmer and be nice but last night the weather man said, 'Snow next Tuesday and Wednesday'.  Tuesday I am driving to Beef and Boards and Wednesday we are leaving for Florida!

This snow season is taking a toll of people.  A man, age 58, passed away while plowing out a road yesterday.  And he wasn't shoveling by hand, he was driving a pickup truck!  And the paper was talking about the Blizzard of '79.  I always thought it was the Blizzard of '78.  I searched on the web and I am right!  Anyway, this is the most one time snowfall that Indiana has had for many years!

If we were to break a record, why did it have to be snowfall?   :-\

I am placing items on the dining room table and on my chest of drawers that I don't want to forget to take to Florida.  Does that mean I want to get out of here and to where the only thing white on the ground is sand?!

Yesterday as we drove out of our driveway I saw a bird that was really new to me.  It seemed to be smaller than the sparrow.  The only bird I have found like it is the dark eyed junko.  It had a patch of rusty red down the back under the wings, and the rest of the bird seemed to be a combination of browns and grey.  Any Ideas anybody?

Thank you for the anniversary greetings.  We had a nice quiet day at home.

I started back into the South Beach on Monday.  This time the weight is dropping faster than the last time on this diet.  Pat you found your book, are you trying again?  Get better Sis.

The weather is milder than last week.  The sky is bright blue.  We have noticed the days lengthing as well.  That is one big benefit to living in the north, we seem to have longer days than the southerners.  What is even more interesting is that 2 hours south of us has more snow than we do.  Even Pat in Guelph has more snow!  Different weather patterns.  Now one group of scientists say that it is because of global warming, and another says the sun is burning out.  Which is correct I don't know, perhaps both?

I am needing to get some research done here so Bye for now.

Judy, as to which group of scientists is right, my opinion is NEITHER!!  God is still in control of the weather, in spite of what Al Gore or anyone else says.  But then, we know how smart Al is....remember---he invented the internet!

It is much warmer here today, and I'm listening to the pitter-patter of snow melting and hitting the AC unit here in the window.  I would be happy to see this layer of ice and snow disappear before the next layer comes.  But I am not going to complain about moisture of any kind.  After all, this is Kansas!

Liz, your cats sure are characters, aren't they?  My cat Dinah is quite the lover---when it is her idea, of course.  I enjoy her a lot.

I got a hand made Valentine from Abby yesterday.  She said she was sorry it wasn't as flashy as she wanted it to be, but she didn't have the right supplies to make it.  But it was full of love, and that's all that counts!  She had addressed it herself, too.  <3

Larry, we were lucky enough to escape having any burst pipes this time.  Whew!  We were watching for it, though.  Another thing for which to praise God.

Tomorrow is the day we get together at the library to work on our scrapbooks, so I need to decide what I will work on and sort the supplies and pictures to take.

Etta Sue, good job on getting that fan installed!  And have a wonderful trip to Florida.  I hope you find lots of warm weather there.  Your kitty today sure makes me think of Springtime! :)

Colin, where are you hiding?  Come out, come out, wherever you are!

Kevin, beautiful photo, and Colin, beautiful poem.  I wish I knew how to post photos here in Thoughts, so I could post my painting with the lovely poem Colin wrote about The Carpenter.  Want to help us, Kevin?

I need to get busy before I fall asleep on my keyboard.  Time to practice piano!  :)

First of all, Congratulations, Marilyn!

And good morning to All, on a rainy Saturday morning in Japan.  I have a busy couple of days ahead of me, and then on Monday through Wednesday, Mrs. Soileau and I will travel to visit friends, in a part of Japan we haven't yet been to.

I'd like to share with you, what I read this morning, from Mark 7, NLT...

One day some Pharisees and teachers of religious law arrived from Jerusalem to confront Jesus.  They noticed that some of Jesus' disciples failed to follow the usual Jewish ritual of hand washing before eating.  (The Jews, especially the Pharisees, do not eat until they have poured water over their cupped hands, as required by their ancient traditions.  Similarly, they eat nothing bought from the market unless they have immersed their hands in water. This is but one of many traditions they have clung to—such as their ceremony of washing cups, pitchers, and kettles.)  So the Pharisees and teachers of religious law asked him, "Why don't your disciples follow our age-old customs? For they eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony."

Jesus replied, "You hypocrites! Isaiah was prophesying about you when he said,

'These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far away.
    Their worship is a farce,
for they replace God's commands with their own man-made teachings.'

OUCH!  ;)

In His Grip,
Kevin

Hi, friends,

I was on the road about 5:45 Nashville time this morning, got in to work and soon settled in to a regular workday. I surely was glad when the 8 hours passed - by that time I was getting worn out. Here's what my eyes looked like after I got off work!

:o

They say we're maybe going to get 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow morning. So, I'm thankful I'm back in town today and that the visit with the kids was so much fun.

The parents didn't let the girls know I was coming. So, when I walked in Valentines Day evening, they were busily on the floor with scissors and all sorts of paper and ribbon and things, making Grandma homemade valentines.

Imagine their faces, when they looked up at my slight noise, and they saw me in person! We all got a big laugh - first at the expressions of amazement, then at the big group hug we had.

Lotsa fun.

Marilyn, I, too, have walked in your shoes, and prayed much the same prayer for 3 of my children. So, it's wonderful to rejoice with you that your children tied the knot.

Has anyone heard from Jeanine yet? Isn't today her hubby's surgery?

Pat, get well soon.

Love to one and all.

Ruth Ann

Sure wasn't much activity here today.

Judy, I cannot help you about that bird.  I have a friend who is a real bird watcher, bet she would know what it was.

Ruth Ann, glad you are safely back home, and happy you had a good time with the grandkids.  Nothing sweeter than having grandkids run to give you a hug, is there?

Kevin, thanks for that scripture from Mark.  OUCH, indeed!  Have a nice trip to visit your friends.

Tonight, the adults from our church had a progressive dinner.  We just got home, and it was a lot of fun.  It's always nice to enjoy fellowship with Christian friends.

Bedtime!  Night-night!!

Morning All,

Sorry I've been scarce, I have been keeping up with reading the posts, just been busy trying to not be scared nervous. Frank goes in for surgery 6am on monday morning.  Michael's CHN got 16 hrs extra coverage so for 2 days straight we have nursing round the clock. I told her it wouldn't be necessary but she did it any way. Tomorrow night into mon. morn is going to be tense and probably won't sleep.

I may not post until after the surgery to let you all know how he makes out. So, we will just keep praying. Thanks!

May you all have a God filled and blessed day!
Trusting,

Marilyn ~ If you rushed out my door, you would fall flat on your ****!!

I ask again...why is it that the weather men are always right when they predict snow and wrong when they predict good weather and it snows??

I heard a noise around 6:30 am.  Snow plow!  Eleven last night they said slight chance of snow and it hasn't stopped snowing for 4-5 hours!  Then the forecast on my WeatherBug says up to 3" accumulation by midday.  There is more than that now!!  I am certainly ready to see white sand instead of white snow!!

February has been the coldest month in Indiana for years!!  We are having a heat wave today...24°F!!

Hi, Nards!  Long time no hear from you.  Hurry back!

Hello all!  Kristi and I are just chilling out.  Bernard is at work and Travis spent the night with the grandparents last night.  I let him pack his own clothes.  Little did I know, he was planning on staying for 7 days.  He has since amended it to 5, but my MIL told me this morning on the phone that he is still fully intending on staying another night.  Kristi, I think, is enjoying the break, though she is not exactly sure what is missing, so far.  :)

It is very, very quiet.  Usually they are running around playing (fighting), but she has a sheet of stickers that she is playing with right now.  They're on me, my laptop, the bedspread, her, etc.

Etta, hope you stay warm!!

And the only birds I can reliably identify are cardinals, robins, crows/ravens, and chickadees.  Travis knows several more than that because my FIL has taught him, be he's not here to help me.

Marilyn, you have got to be one of the healthiest people I know.  I wish I had your determination, discipline, and dedication to exercise.

Hi nards!!!  <grin>

Karma, thank you, thank you very much (in the voice of Elvis Presley)   .

I can't believe I am gaining weight and not losing, it must be muscle weight. However my belly fat is not going anyplace yet.

Please continue to keep my DIL Sarah in your prayers, her last MRI showed more damage to the Central Nervous System from the MS. They are changing her meds but I don't know to what, I think the next step might be infusions, she was on 3 X per week injections. Ms in incurable in the world's eye. But I know that all things are possible with God. So whose report are we going to believe?

Later I gotta got to work. Speaking of work I had to buy and expensive Blood Pressure  cuff a few days ago.

Hi everyone from a chilly 28 degrees in Georgia.  The weather man said this morning we might see a few flakes of snow later today.  I was chilly all the time I was at the cafe this morning having coffee.

I went down to Atlanta and picked up our daughter last evening so she can spend the weekend with us.  I will take her back on Sunday afternoon.  It is always a busy time when she is here.

Nards, nice to see your posting.  Karmat, it sounds like Travis is having a good time but sure he will be happy to get home when his visit is over.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you all should have gone to Florida last week.  We always worry a little when the weatherman says just a little of anything.  Glad you got the fan replaced.  I have had to do that on one of my computers.

Al, I have never been where they had one of those chocolate fountain but I had the same thought about how difficult and messy it must be to clean one of them up.  Hope you all have a great time at the kettlefest this evening.

I wonder if Jane is on her way home today?

Marilyn, you certainly have a busy schedule but it seems like a very constructive one.

Jeannine, I am sure you will appreciate having a little extra relief next week.  I will be praying for you all.

Janet, the progressive dinners are nice.  Our church is starting a series of dinner meetings in homes to help people get to know each other better.  We haven't signed up yet as it seems we are always eating with a group and not sure we want to add another one.  However, it is a good idea.  I think after each couple entertains then the groups are reformed so that you can get to know other people in the comfort of their homes.

Ruth Ann, that sounds like you had a "Hallmark" moment with your grandchildren when you surprised them with your visit.

Kevin, hope you enjoy your touring and seeing parts of your country there that you have not seen before.  There is so much of the USA that I haven't seen and probably never well as I know longer have the energy to withstand much traveling.

JudyB, I don't have a clue as to the type of bird you saw.  Of course, about any bird other than a robin or a cardinal gives me a problem in identifying them.

Think I feel a nap coming on.  Pat just left to attend the last of three classes on her new sewing machine and for this one she had to take her machine with her.  It comes with a nice carrying case but it is still heavy.

Hello, hello, hellooooooo

I made it!  I had a really great week and a very intense time as well.  We sat through 16 one hour sessions of an advanced Teachers' Training School.  Actually, that's all we had to do (that's enough) because the person presenting the material was making a DVD with a professional filming company from Redding CA.  She will be "teaching" this course internationally via DVD.  The people taking the course for certification will have to return 4 video tapes and written tests to be graded, probably online.  When I took this course, it was in Sacramento and again here in Coos Bay so the oral presentation, as well as the written tests, were "in person"  I don't think I could ever---EVER---do a video of myself giving a talk.   :o

I have a lot to catch up on and need to get to the store for a few things I sorta kinda ran out of while I was away.

I will talk atcha all later......

BTW It's good to see Nards here as well as Karma's keeping us up on the goings on at their house.

I read somewhere that Pat is down with pneumonia, too ... I haven't found the post here yet, but I sure pray she is feeling better and able to return soon......

GET BETTER, PAT!!

Well ..... I'm off (again).

I think that my posts here are just too lengthy & certainly not productive so will try to amend my ways.

Pat:  Praying for your health.

Larry:  Enjoy your visit with daughter -  take care.  What machine & model # did Pat buy?  I have the Bernina 440 & really love it.

Colin:  Having a cup of tae  :coffee: - there is some for you.

It did snow and it was beautiful. I say WAS, because we're really fortunate it's already starting to melt.

Etta Sue, when are you planning to go to Florida?

Jeannine, I'll make your family and your hubby a matter of serious prayer this weekend and next week as he recovers from the surgery.

It certainly is good to hear all of y'all talking and sharing as I walked in the door this morning. I brought my Chai teabag. It makes 2 nice cups of tea. I imagine someone will want to share with me.  :)

Y'all have a good day

G'morning!  I'm enjoying my Sunday morning cup...  :coffee:

I'll be heading to church shortly.

Here's some more of Mark 7 (NLT)...

Then Jesus left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre. He tried to keep it secret that he was there, but he couldn't. As usual, the news of his arrival spread fast.  Right away a woman came to him whose little girl was possessed by an evil spirit. She had heard about Jesus, and now she came and fell at his feet.  She begged him to release her child from the demon's control. Since she was a Gentile, born in Syrian Phoenicia,  Jesus told her, "First I should help my own family, the Jews. It isn't right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs."

She replied, "That's true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are given some crumbs from the children's plates."

"Good answer!" he said. "And because you have answered so well, I have healed your daughter."  And when she arrived home, her little girl was lying quietly in bed, and the demon was gone.

In His Grip,
Kevin

Welcome Home Jane

I got a lot accomplished this morning. I asked Ruth if she wanted to go with me to Costco, so she enjoyed a time of being out and went for a ride I got my Costco shopping done  too. The we went to Safeway to get a couple of things for her  and to the Mexican Restaurant to eat.  She had a Cheese enchilada and I had Vegetarian Super Nachos and brought home more than half of them.
Now I am sitting here with the color on my hair waiting for 30 minutes to be up so I can rinse my hair.

Very foggy here today with patches of sun now and then. Coming back into McKinleyville it was very wet fog. No walk for the dogs today.

Larry, have a good weekend with you daughter.  I am so happy with and for you about her progress.

Marilyn, it's very wet here, but from the melting snow, not fog.  In fact, I couldn't make it home this evening, our road is so bad.  I had to drive in through Beth's yard, and hate doing that, as it does so much damage to the native grasses we are getting established.

Take comfort, Etta Sue.........this, too, shall pass.  And next summer maybe you will feel cooler just remembering this time.  Are you heading out for Florida on Monday, or have I gotten confused on that?

Karma and Nards, always good to hear from you!  I know you are a busy pair! :)

Hey there, Al!

Jeannine, still praying here.

Pat, hurry and get well.  We miss you.  <3

Whew!  Yesterday we had the deepest 3 inch snow I have ever seen!!!  I decided I wasn't going to my church this morning but I needed kitty litter before leaving Wednesday morning and I didn't know when I was going to fit it in.  So I drove to Noblesville last evening after dark.  Bad!  But I made it.  The wind was blowing and I had half of my drive drifted on the west side.  When I came back, I couldn't see my tracks in the drive.  But this morning it looks pretty good.

Ivalou and I are going to her church in a few.  Then this afternoon 'The Shepherds' are singing at her church.  The Shepherds are a local four part harmony group.  My nephew is in it so I get to see him.  He only lives a couple of miles away but you all know how that is.  They are busy.  I am busy!

Everyone have a great God's Day!

Hi everyone.

I slept in this morning until about 8 a.m. and am now ready for church.  This will be a busy day as this afternoon we will go to the grocery store so our daughter can get some food and then have to take her back to her apartment.  She thinks it is pretty neat that she gets tomorrow off from work and gets paid for it as it is a Federal holiday.

Carol, I echo Janet's comment about your postings not being too long.  If that fits anyone it is me.  You asked about the sewing machine Pat got and it is a Bernina 440 with the BSR attachment.  The class focused on that attachment yesterday.  Apparently because the value of the dollar has fallen they advised her that the prices for everything related to the Bernina machines, including the attachments were going to go up in cost.  So she went ahead and got a couple of other attachments that she wanted.  She did not get the embroidery attachment as doesn't think she would use it and it is very expensive.

Sarah, do you ever that a day off just to rest and have fun?  It sounds like you are one very busy young person.

Janet, your speaking of the roads in your area reminds me of the farm roads we had when I was growing up.  It could be almost impassible in the winter or after big rains.  I was glad that you had no broken pipes from the freezing.

Marilyn, it sounds like you and Ruth had a nice outing.

Hi Keven, Ruth Ann and all who visit with us here today.

Etta Sue, glad to see that you are not snowed in.  Enjoy the concert.

Good Morning, Janet I understand totally about driving over the Native grasses. In my area of California we are so conscious of damage to the native enviornment.

More rain today, I wish it would dry up for a few days so I can get out the lawn mower and cut the grass.  By the time it is dry enough it will be tough to get the mower through the grass. I should have done that  two weeks ago.

Jeannine praying for your hubby here.

Praying for you also Pat.

Sounds like you had a very enlightening time Jane.  <3

Thanks for the "welcome home" from all y'all: Larry, Janet, Etta Sue, Carol, Marilyn etc....... I really did have a good week and even learned some good stuff.  But, I am very grateful to be back home, now.

It's raining here, too, Marilyn.  I think the forecast is for rain throughout this week.  Hopefully, my wood supply will hold out.   :-\  I thought maybe the coldest weather was past and I'd be okay.  Oh well......  My neighbor brought me some scrap wood that will take me another few days.

Gotta go ...... stuff to do, places to go, people to see...... you know how that goes.

I would rather mow the grass than shovel this snow.  If it snows any more between now and Wednesday morning, I may not get out of my driveway.  I almost got stuck driving back in from church.   ???

It is nice going to Ivalou's little church.  Quite a traditional church.  But truly I missed seeing all the teens and little kids that attend my church in Greenfield.

Three of us went to eat at O'Charley's.  Then Ivalou and I went to the drug store in Lapel.  I am thinking I am getting a sinus cold.  Drainage, sneezing, voice sounds funny, and a full head.  So I got some medication to nip it in the bud, I hope!

I am home now for a little over an hour and then we go back to Ivalou's church for the singing.  Afterwards they are having sandwiches, salads and desserts!  Sounds like fun!

We made it out to the highway and back home again after church, and I was so glad Darrel was driving!  He nearly got stuck, but we kept inching along........ :P  I love the moisture, but how I wish the county would either put a lot more gravel on these two blocks of muddy road, or else go ahead and pave it.  But, for sure, we aren't the only ones having the same struggle.

Etta Sue, wouldn't it be nice if we could save the snow and then just order the amount we want when it gets dry, or in your case, warmer?  Not in the cards, though.  But lucky you, you are going to Florida, where I hope you will enjoy much warmer weather.  This afternoon's singing at Iva Lou's church sounds like a fun time.

I looked at a sewing machine last year at the fair, one that did the embroidery.  I thought I really wanted it, but then thought seriously about how much I would actually use it, and decided it probably wasn't the wisest purchase for me.  I surely do admire the lovely stuff they can do with those, though.  Since Carol and Pat are both quilters, I'm sure they get lots of use and enjoyment out of their Berninas.  I've heard for years that those are great machines.

I went to bed last night, fell asleep quickly, then woke thinking it surely must be time to get up---looked at the clock---1:30 AM.  :o  I lay there wide awake for an hour, then got up and went to the living room, turned the piano volume to low, and practiced for an hour.  By then I was kind of sleepy, so went back to bed.  Right now, I feel a nap stealing up on me.

This is the week of our family retreat at Horn Creek, Colorado for the church.  So that should be fun.  Last year their tubing slope was closed because they didn't have enough snow, but they said the snow was waist deep a couple days ago and they got another 18" so tubing should be great!  Some of the young folks will also do some skiing at Monarch.  I've never skiied, and think it would be foolish to start now.  8)

I spent all of yesterday scrapbooking, so I'm going to put my stuff away and then find my pillow.  Talk to you later!

Hi Everyone,
Hope you are all well.    How are you Pat?  We have a typical Canadian winter here is  Ontario.    Looks lovely, like a picture post card with snow on everything and cold.

Today Joe Boot spoke at The Peoples Church.   He is the Canadian Director of Ravi Zaccarias Ministries.   He spoke about "The uniquness of Jesus Christ in the World of the Cults.    I was reminded about how fortunate we are to have Jesus Christ, the mightly God who created the world and planets living in our lives.    He is unique and wonderful and we Christians are so blessed!

God Bless

What a wonderful poem Colin.     I'm going to print it and send to my email buddies.   Hope someone will think about Christ and decide to make Him their Lord.

God bless

Hi, friends,

I really enjoyed our pastor's sermon again this morning. He spoke about how the members of the early church took care of others as the need arose. We, too, need to care for those who encounter difficulties navigating the road of life.

It's chilly, and I think we must be in for a weather change - my joints are "complaining" today. :)

Y'all have a good afternoon.

Been here reading the posts, not much to say right now. I am going to prayer meeting , then on to a training  meeting  in the fellowship hall after prayer.

I asked a couple of people  after church if they wanted to go to lunch but  they had other things to do. I asked 3 different people then gave up and came home. Oh well going out for lunch would not have been any good for  me trying to eat sensibly anyway. So I came home and ate a Weight Watchers meal.

Yesterday at Costco I bought some South Beach protein bars for occasional snacks. They are pretty good.

Goodevening to all:

We had Sue drop by an hour or so ago with tea & coffee it was at our home instead of meeting half way between her home and ours which would be Tim Hortons.

Judy B:  Something I learned many years ago is that wild life is different in different parts of the province. Perhaps the bird you saw is native to your area.

We have lots of snow and the temp. has already dropped again.  Brrrrrrrrrrr it is cold again.

Good night all!

We had a couple of inches of snow this morning.   travis got to snowboard some, and kristi got to sled for the first time ever.  :)  they had a blast.  we didn't have morning services because of the weather, but we did have evening services.  of course, we didn't have any heat in the building, so brrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

pat, i hope you are feeling better.  i will remember you in my prayers.

i apologize for the lack of capitals, my right shift key sticks a bit, and the sound it makes annoys me, so i'm using the shift keys sparingly.

take care all
