Morning Devotional...

The Holy Spirit:
Spiritual Gifts

There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.
--1 Corinthians 12:4-6

The time is more than ripe for a rethinking of the whole matter of spiritual gifts within the church of Christ. The subject has fallen into the hands of people for the most part extreme and irresponsible and has become associated with fanaticism in its various forms. This is a huge misfortune and is causing tremendous loss to the work of spiritual Christianity in our times.

Prejudices pro and con make the consideration of this subject extremely difficult, but its neglect is costing us more than we should be willing to pay. A revival of true New Testament Christianity must surely bring with it a manifestation of spiritual gifts. Anything short of it will create a just suspicion that the revival is something short of scriptural.
Dr. Tozer in The Next Chapter After the Last, 80-81.

"Thank You, Lord, that since Tozer's time there has in fact been this rethinking about spiritual gifts. May we continue to see their proper functioning and renewed manifestation. Amen."

Wow!  I can't believe I'm the first to post this morning!

I actually have NOTHING on my calendar today!  Yippee!  So I am going to go swim, then have stuff needing my attention here in the house.  We got an email informing us our final packet of information about our upcoming trip has been mailed, so will be thinking about what I need to pack, as well.

I wish you all a God-blessed Monday!  This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!

WOW is this Monday and I am FIRST?   :coffee:  Oh, no - I thought Janet was writing on a Sunday.  My mistake.

QuoteThere are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.
--1 Corinthians 12:4-6
Thank you for this interesting passage.  The same Lord the same God and Spirit.

Al:  You do have the wonderful redwood trees - we would love to see them once again.  Janet - I hope that you get to see the magnificent trees.  Wonder of wonders. Al:  We return on April 10th.  We have only stayed this long once - this year to really visit and will not ever do so again.  I will miss it.  Do hope your hip and legs are faring well.

Larry:  Mild winter here - it doesn't feel like winter at all.   We are nuts - we are buying a house/cabin near Grand Lake - altitude 8500 ft.  It is a foreclosure & needs some work - like electricity and gas for one thing.  The contractor did not get all his money so there this place is - our son who lives near us will be doing all the work.

Ruth Ann:  So sorry about your ear pain.

Janet:  It is too dry at home and here as well.  Sorry about your pastor not ever visiting Beth - can you talk to him?  I don't know anything about the mennonites but they do wonderful charitable works - they care for babies born in prison - a quiet denomination.  Another exciting trip!

:) Good morning to all.    I think that I am feeling a lot better than last week and thank you for those who have been praying for me. Please continue to pray for my wife Noreen.  We have a bright sun shiny day here and a beautiful sky also.  Last night I happened to see a part of the Oscar's and  it was very impressive.  That was the live performances.  But when some of the people got up and said there speeches they totally should have been turned of as what they were saying regarding the Gay and lesbian and same sex marriages was disgusting. :o

Pat:  Thank you for the good devotional and glad to see you arrived safely say hi to Paul. Love ya sis. <3

Janet:  Thank you for your reply and when you go on your next vacation have a wonderful time :)

Carol:  Hi to you it sounds that you are both keeping busy and lots to do do in your new place.  Don't overdo it then you will be so tired that nothing will be done.  Have a great weak and God Bless. :coffee:

Judy B.:  How are the new kitties is the training going easy.  Hope that you are well. <3

Bonesy:  Hi John nice to see you on C.P.   Who are you driving for now?  Are you ever down in the Niagara region and if you are try to let me know and we could meet up for a coffee.  Drive safe and God bless. :coffee:

Tall others have a wonderful week and may the Lord be with you all.

Hi Everyone!

It's a blustery day here in Falls Church.  Paul is out taking my Saturn Vue for a little "test drive" as I think that there is a brake problem.  He's then going to buy the parts, etc. and take them to a mechanic he knows to get them done if necessary.

Always something...  $$$$

So much to do today.  First was getting the car greased and oil changed.  Then I called my vet for cat food.  They ALWAYS have my UTI cat food but not this time.  I think I will have enough until I get back but if not, Kitty knows where I get it and she can get it for me.  Then I had a CD to leave at church.  I went on to Noblesville to WalMart for a refill on an RX.  Too early!  I went to three car washes.  I wanted the inside cleaned also and none of them did that so just got the outside washed.  I ate at Taco Bell...then to Lapel to fill the car with gas.

When I got home I came in and got my windex and paper towels and washed the windows on the inside of the car and the spots on the outside.  Then I used the ShopVac.  Hey, I once again have a pretty car!  Now I don't want to drive it and get it dirty!

But drive, I must.  I am setting the alarm for 5:30 and when I get everything done and loaded, I will get the other three ladies and head south!  I don't know when or if I will be online.  I am taking the laptop (why not?  It is portable!)  I know Kaye Don is dial up so I don't want to tie up his phone line!

But if you don't hear from me, I will be back March 4th!!  God willing!

So y'all behave now, ya here?

Hi everyone.  Feeling much better today and have felt like being up and about for the first time in a week without having to push myself.  I will see my cardiologist on Friday.  Pat had a doctor's appointment with the doctor about her knee and he basically told her she is getting old and her knee joint is wearing out and has arthritis.  He gave her a steroid shot so hopefully she will be feeling better in a day or so.

Today was my men's Monday luncheon and we went to a new place for us, a pizza place.  I had a calzone so won't be eating any supper this evening.

We have been having phone problems since about 4 pm.  I finally unplugged all the phones from the wall and waited a few minutes and then reconnected and we again had a dial tone.  Pat had been talking to someone when the service suddenly ended.  I will contact the phone company to cancel the service call.

Etta Sue, have a great trip.  Hope you can at least check in quickly and let us know you are safely in Florida.

Carol, thanks for the info on your new cabin.  I hope that all works out well for you.  I visualized your getting something in Arizona for the winters.

Janet, aren't days with nothing on the calendar a joy once-in-a-while and they go by so quickly.

Pat, thanks for the new devotional for this week.

Ruth Ann, hope you are feeling better today.

Ruth, sure your aunt just doesn't want to be a bother.  It is hard for us to understand that sometimes that is more troublesome than asking for the help we need.  We can't expect others to know our needs.

Bonesy, nice to see you posting again.

Hi, friends,

It's getting close to suppertime, and I don't wanna cook!!!

Oh, well, a bit of ham and potato with carrots will be a quick, nutritious meal. :)

Pat, sorry about those brakes. It really does get expensive to fix these autos, but fix 'em we must...

Y'all have a great rest of the day.

Carol, this is the Mennonite Brethren Church I was talking about Beth being taken to.  We also have the Grant (named for the county here) Mennonites, which are the old order Mennonites, who wear the beards (men) and the little caps (women.)  They are lovely people.  I worked with several of the ladies at Park View.  The Mennonite Brethren is basically the same as other denominational churches, very nice people as well.  Beth really has enjoyed going there, and it's easier than my trying to go load her up and take her to our church, where she feels invisible, anyway.  My friend Pat has talked to the pastor several times about the need to visit Beth, but it hasn't made any difference.

I did get a little bit done today.  And getting back into the water and swimming felt so wonderful!!  After lunch both Darrel and I walked on the treadmills for a while, so we are making a start on our exercise programs again.  Then this afternoon our electricity went off, which kept me from doing some things, so I went through a huge stack of magazines, and got rid of about 45 pounds of them.  Most are brand new (as in never been read) and I didn't want to burn them, so am taking them tomorrow to the laundromat.  I was told they really do appreciate having magazines there, and I will be happy to know someone is enjoying them.

Bonesy, so good to read your post.  Watch out for those crazy drivers out there on the roads!

Pat, hope your car repairs won't be too costly.

I am so aggravated.  We bought Beth a new recliner, with a power recline, to the tune of nearly a thousand dollars.  She has had it less than two months, and somehow or other, they have managed to tear the motor box off the metal brackets underneath the chair, rip the wires out of it, and the box was behind the chair, instead of underneath it!  And the girls said Beth did it!!  I DON'T THINK SO.  She can't do anything!  Anyway, the furniture man came and took the chair, looked it over, then sent it to Guymon to someone he thinks will be able to repair it.  Another thing to talk to the "powers-that-be" about, at Beth's next care plan meeting.

We got our final packet of info about our trip, so I want to go read it.  I have more to say, but this is getting too long and I don't want to bore you.

Hello again:   I spent most of the afternoon doing errands with and for my aunt, also added a few errands of my own. I stopped at Bell mobility to ask a question about one of the features. I found that out and following a question on their part I will be going back on Wednesday with my bill and most likely will get some added features at a lower cost I thought I had the best in the first place but it pays to perhaps check once in a while as it seems that I will be given some changes for my good.

Speaking of my aunt she will be celebrating her 90th birthday in a couple of months and refuses to visit a doctor. Does she have needs I am not really sure but she is quite spry still walks without a cane and her mind is still ok. Yes she is living on her own as well.

I have just been called to the TV     Have a great evening     Ruth

Hi Folks. Kust a quick few minutes to say Hi. judy and I just got in from town and I blew the driveway out so thats done before I hit the trail again tomorrow. Don't know where I am going yet, will find out in the morning. Probably won't be a long trip as I need to be back for Friday night. This is one of those days where I feel like I've been spinning my wheels and going nowhere. Had blood tests this moring, then roadtested a new driver then another meeting this pm, did some shopping and home. Phew thats enough to wear a guy out.
Gord I do get to the Niagara region verily often. Mostly just passing thru to and from the border. Occasionally will stay at the Husky in St Catherines for the night. Occasionally pick up a load in Thorold as well.
Pat sorry to hear about your brake problem. You know you need to keep your foot on the floor when you drive and not riding on the brake pedal. That air space between your foot and the brake pedal wears them out.
Well its been a nice sunny day up here today but still cold the High was about -10C Or about 14 F. A bit chilly but it was nice just the same. Not at all like the -58f I experience in Minn about a month or so ago. Even the truck was complaining then. It stayed running but not without groening and complaining. Anyway will go for now. Be abck on when I get home off my trip.

It is dark and I am up because this place just didn't cool down enough last night.

Gord:  Praying for you and Noreen.  At our age, we do watch our work anymore and pretty much know our limits.  We will be working on a place in the mountains in Colorado when we get home but nothing too much for us oldsters.  LOL

Pat:  Isn't that the truth?  Always something.  And we are so fortunate to get through the somethings which are usually little things in comparison to big things.

Etta Sue:  A big hello to you - stay safe.

Larry:  I wanted to buy a little place in AZ years ago and then we were here on 9-11.  We left for home, sick at heart.  The prices have gone up too much and really now we were probably led to the decision that was best.  I sure hope that the closing date doesn't change again - it should be Thursday but this is the most irritating deal we have gone through.  Glad that you feel better.

Bonesy - John:  Who drives with their foot on the brakes?  Yes, we see them in the mountains as they don't know how to downshift.  Stay clear of the braking people!  So, Minnesota sounds like it was crisp when you went through.  We were there when it was minus 70 windchill and school did not close.  That was a tough day but we did get to work and the children made it to and from school.  I couldn't do that again.

Ruth:  So, you t.v. is now calling you?  Hmmmm - sounds funny to me.

:coffee:

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday

I am happy to say that again today I feel like my old self.  I even walked 10 laps at the gym this morning.

Janet, why would anyone want to tear up a powerlift chair--that just staggers the imagination.  Also the idea that Beth could have done it is beyond ridiculous.  I don't blame you for being upset.  One reason I take only one magazine at a time is that after a few issues I find it difficult to keep up.  It is nice you are sharing the magazines.

Ruth, living alone in your 90s and having a sharp mind is such a blessing.  Not too many folks get to do this.  Hope you get satisfaction with your wireless phone.

Bonesy, that is too cold for me.  It is 37 degrees here this morning and that seems really chilly.  Hope you have a good drive this week.

Carol, our church also has Ash Wednesday services. I will probably attend and we have choir practice after the service.

Larry

Mornin' folks,
I read about a lot of you having snow and more snow.  I think it has forgotten what Winter is supposed to be like around here.  It has been cold, but not extremely so, at least not for very long.  And this area is crying for moisture of some sort.  Wish you all could share some of your snow.

I asked for prayer for my brother Wes, in Arkansas. I thank you for your prayers. He came through the surgery just fine last week, and will see the doctor in a few days for the pathology report.

Now, another prayer request for another brother, Jay.  He is just barely older than I, and I always felt like he was my twin because we were in the same class in school from 3rd grade on to graduation.  He missed most of the school year when he first got to 3rd grade, due to an accident (broken leg).  Back then they had to stay in bed a long time.

Anyway, last Saturday Jay was in another accident at their home in The Woodlands, TX.  He was doing a no-no for a man his age, working from a ladder on his second story house just under the eaves.  You guessed it, the ladder went sideways and he held onto it and rode it down.  The ladder somehow broke a bathroom window on the way down, and left jagged glass.  Jay's right arm was lacerated pretty badly.  His son happened to be there and rushed him to the emergency room.  He is in a cast and will have surgery on his arm tomorrow.  He has almost no feeling in that hand and can't move some of his fingers, and the ER doctor told them that he doubtless severed some nerves and ligament.  He gave him a 50/50 chance of restoring feeling there.  Pray that our God will give Jay a better chance than that, for we know that with God all things are possible.

We went to another brother's (Wayne) home on Sunday afternoon at Amarillo, TX. There was a celebration for him and his wife for their 50th wedding anniversary.  It was fun and beautiful.  Their two kids planned it as a surprise, and it really was a surprise too!

I hope all of you are well today, and the sick folks are feeling much better by now.
~Janice

We'll be going down to Winchester, VA tomorrow as there are some deliveries to be made to the house and we must be there for that.  So...  I'll be out of internet access again.

Geordie is doing a lot better.  I just wish he'd start to eat more like he did before his surgery.

Our 'winter that wasn't' continues.  Today it is 65, so warm outdoors that it makes the house seem quite cool in contrast.  If we are to have any real winter, I hope it comes while we are in Asia!

I got more hotspots cleaned off today.  If I would keep this up for about six months, this place would look a lot better!

Larry, I keep dropping magazines, then I get something in the mail about a new one, or an offer at $6 per year.....I need to just throw those offers in the trash without opening them!

Carol, where is this place you are buying?  Arizona or Colorado?  I'm not sure where Grand Lake is.....  I'm sure it will be a lovely place after your family works on it for a while!

Ruth, I think we need to go check on better mobile phone deals, too.  And does your television call you by name?  ;) :D

My husband is hammering away, I wonder what he's doing?  Guess I will go see.

Pat, glad Geordie is better, and pray he continues to improve.

I am getting a new grandson!!  He is 5'9" tall, and 16 years old, name is Sachsa.   ;)  My youngest daughter and hubby have been approved to host a foreign exchange student, and chose this boy from Germany.  He will be in the class with their youngest boy and both boys can't wait to meet him.  They will get his email and can start corresponding with him in a couple of weeks.  I am sure Kerri knew the subject of her email "A new grandson for you" would get my attention!

See you later.

Pat I am glad to hear that Geordie is doing a little bit better, i pray that he will continue to improve daily. I found a small lump about the size of a quarter and soft  in the area that we would call the  right  armpit on Bebe, I am, going to keep an eye on it for awhile to see what if anything it does. Right now I am still paying for Happy's surgery on his foot. I need to get that bill down  some it is on a credit card that  only use for the vet. I am hoping to find a good Vet  up north. Nita how is your Vet?

Janet congratulations on the new grandson. I'm sure  he will have a wonderful time during his stay in America.

Hi everyone.  I will leave for coffee at McDonald's shortly.  Then today is Bible Study with the pastor this morning and this evening is the Ash Wednesday service and then choir practice.  So it will be a busy day.

Yesterday Pat and I went to Sam's Club and rejoined.  We haven't belonged for several years but hope it will be worth the cost.  They really believe in large quantities but we do have some extra storage in our upstairs area as well as in our garage, where I have quite a bit of storage.

Can't think of much else to write about this morning.  Hope this is a good day for everyone.

Janet:  It is Grand Lake, Colorado - elevation over 8,000 ft.  Next to Rocky Mountain National Park.  We used to have a place there and sold it and now will be there once again - our oldest son had a cabin about 5 miles away from our new place - which should be ours tomorrow.  Oh, you are going back to Asia once again.  Great - good for you two!!!  As for magazines, I like to go to the library for quilt magazines anymore because they are too expensive.

Larry:  We save at Sam's too but it sure is large quantity.

Janice:  Prayers for your brothers, Jay and Wes.  Take care of yourselves too.

Today in Tucson, the temp will be almost 90 but the record for today is 91* F.  Tiger Woods has the town all buzzing.  All the hotels are booked with him in town and that is good for their economy.

We are going to a play this afternoon that is old-fashioned with friends.  Then, a free meal at Red Robin (given by our landlord who owns the place - his wife is a cook too.  They have wonderful fish and chips or fish tacos that really makes 2 to 3 meals.  Huge portions.  Free - we only tip the waitress, of course.

Windows wide open here last night and it is 60*F in the house and will heat up quickly today.  No air on yet but it may be this afternoon.  I didn't watch the political speech last night but read the last of the book, Marley So sad but a wonderful story about a crazy dog.  Don watched the speech - I don't think we can talk about it. Afraid that all of my predictions will come true - hope not.

I didn't actually watch the speech last night, but I read quite a bit of it this morning.  I'm actually forced to the conclusion that it wasn't too bad.  So far so good with this new president.  I suppose I could complain, but I can always do that!  It's one of the things I'm good at!  Let us pray for our president and the government in general.

It's raining here today at the moment.  I'm thankful for that, 'cause it needs to amount to about 7 inches more than it is to get up to normal.  We need to thank Him for refreshing and watering His earth, which is our home.

Good morning everyone.  It is another cold day today.  The wind chill makes it really bitter.

John has headed to Montreal, not a place he enjoys.  He is helping our son to move back north on Saturday.  the company has given him the use of a trailler for the move all Doug has to pay for is the fuel used.  That is a considerable savings from the cost of a rental truck.

My 2 cats are working out well, but they have found my plants are good for digging in.  There are no messes in them just the soil is not hard like it was before.  I am going to get screening and cover the pot to stop this habit.

The wood we have now is still wet.  It doesn't give a hot fire.  The house isn't cold just chilly.  We have to layer our clothing.  I haven't bothered to start the fire yet, will do that presently.

I am praying for all the needs here.  God bless everyone!

I'm going to go eat lunch with my Youth Friends in a few minutes.  Darrel has gone to the dentist, and tomorrow is my turn.

Sad news...my son-in-law's mom, Peggy, is not doing well.  The lung cancer is very aggressive, and they are talking to hospice.  I want to talk to Jeff, but he is so busy.  I did call and just express my best wishes and assure him I'm praying for his mom and for him.

Al, I guess that's the reason we shouldn't discuss politics here.  I am not at all pleased nor impressed with this guy.  I will grant that he is a polished speaker, but I do not believe anything he says.  And yes, I do pray for him, and for our country.

Time to get going!

Hi everyone!
Well, I am sitting at the car service place right now having the timing belt on my car replaced.  I've been putting it off for a while, but finally got myself in here before the thing breaks.  So I am here for a while.  Then I'm going to go to an orientation at my new job.  Hallelujah!  Praise God; I needed a job with more hours, and God gave me one!  God is Good!  Then I am going to try to go to church service tonight.  So I have a busy day today, but busy is better than idle, right?   ;)
I am praying for everyone here; God bless you and keep you.   :)
With Prayers & Love,
Kelly

Hi, friends,

It's a showery day here in Nashville, so I suppose I should hum "Showers of Blessing."

Definitely, we ALL need those types of showers, don't we!

I'm going to help my son for a couople of hours this afternoon. So, won't stay online very long.

Y'all have a good day.

Kelly, you say you are sitting at the car service...

Are you using a laptop?  Does the car service have internet?  Or how are you typing in here?

What a lovely greeting too.  Did you take that photo?  It's beautiful!

Well I am on my way out the door.  I received a message on the machine that Kassie may have broken her finger playing basket ball.  Aparently the teacher thinks it is broken.  We'll see.  Pls keep us in prayer.

I picked up my new reading glasses this morning and the Dr had me take a peripheral vision test while I was there,  I  got a perfect score. I am going to the Chiropractor in a little bit. My hip is not hurting anymore, the Physical Therapist is  having me work  with the machines and a huge ball to strengthen my core muscles which he said   holds my hip in place.

From Judyb last week.
QuoteMarilyn I am sorry about your pain.  May our Father teach you something through this.  Lean on Him.
Judy I am not sure how to take this comment, Would you please elaborate? I have had  pain in my hip for years, the fall only aggravated it. What is God going to teach me?

Well I am back from the hospital.  Kassie has chipped her left ring finger.  They can only splint it.  She is really sore with it, but has to ice it, 20 on and 20 off.    The inside of the nuckle is black with bruising.

Marilyn one of the biggest things we learn from pain is patience.

We are to have another BIG snowstorm tonight.  The last time this was the forcast it was a non event.  I am hoping that will happen again.  Just about March, spring will soon be here.

Well, we made it to Florida.  Yesterday morning, my brakes growled when I applied them.  I thought it was because I had washed the car and undercarriage and water had gotten into the brakes and was froze.  But instead of the growling getting better it got worse.  I stopped in Manchester, Tennessee, and the car growled just moving with no brakes applied.  Something bad wrong!  So I went to a convenient store and asked where a jiffy lube or quick lube was.  About two blocks away.  So I pulled in there.  The guy said it sounded like my brakes.  They pulled off the two front tires and I had both braked pads and rotors replaces and a caliper on the right front!!!!  They said it would be two hours but they got it done in one and $300.75.  I was leaking brake fluid also.  And between there and Chattanooga, was a 6% grade mountain road!!  Thank God for us stopping and hearing it growl with no brakes applied, for finding someone close to fix it, for them fixing it and faster than they said.  God was with us for sure.

Today I got cut off three times!!!  If I had applied the brakes, we would have been wiped out each time.  One was a pick up truck pulling a trailer.  He must have forgotten he had a trailer on behind him!!!

But we made it the 1080 miles and Janet had dinner for all of us.

Now it is time to get my feet up.  They are swollen more than they have been for three years!!!

A report on my brother... Jay had the surgery today, and it was apparently a long one.  The doctors said the damage to his arm was more extensive than they had thought at first.  He may have to have more surgery later on.  For now he has to have a splint on his arm for 6 weeks.  I don't know how long he will be in the hospital but I would imagine several days.  And I am guessing he will go into rehab/therapy after that.

I talked to his wife last night and she said they were going to "filet" his arm full length.  Ouch, that sounds awful.  She did not know he was up on that ladder, and when the doorbell rang, she went to the door and he was all bloody, she got a real scare.  They were all day at the ER on Saturday and all day at the hospital today too.  I got the report on the surgery after 7:30 tonight, and they said he was just out of surgery and in recovery.  I know Norma is worn out tonight.  Maybe their two sons will stay with Jay tonight.

Thanks for all your prayers, they are much appreciated.
I have a bit of apprehension about this, Jay is 77.  I am afraid this thing may be the beginning of his decline.  I have seen these things happen before that started with a trauma situation.  The Lord is in control though and we can rest in that.  With Him, all things are possible.  He is the source of our strength and our peace.

Think I am going to work outside in my garden today as well as in my greenhouses. Must keep planting those flowers or I will be in trouble with a lot of Ladies.

Hi everyone.  Just a quick note today as I need to get some work done for the Senior Golden Olympics.  I have 137 applications to get processed into the database today and the reports related to them printed out.  It isn't hard work, except to read some of the writing on the forms, but it does take quite a bit of time.  We expect to have around 500 applications by the deadline, which is the end of the month.

After coffee this morning I stopped at the bank and then went to the barbershop for a haircut.  I was getting rather shaggy.  It is going to be a nice day here today and get up to 63 degrees.  We had a little rain last night and tomorrow there is an 80 percent chance of heavy rain.

We had a really good Ash Wednesday service last evening.  Our new Associate Pastor give the homily and it was very good and easy to understand.  We then had an hour of choir practice.  When our practice was over our director had to get to downtown Atlanta to join in the final rehearsal for the Atlanta Symphony and Chorus presentation that begins tonight of Haydn's Creation.  It must have been very late when she got home last night.

Etta Sue, glad you made it safely to Florida and that you stopped to check on the brake problem.  The noise was there for a reason.

Janice, glad your brother made it through the surgery and it sounds like he will have a long recovery.  It is so unwise for older people to climb on ladders.  I don't even like to get up on a step stool anymore and refuse to climb a ladder.

CapturedByGrace, welcome to the discussion.  I read your praise report on your new job and know you are greatly relieved.

Judy, so sorry to hear of the chipped bone in your daughter's finger.  Hope the pain doesn't last too long.

I have read all of the other postings but won't do individual responses today or I am not going to get my projects done for today and will be gone all day tomorrow.

Hello again after a few days away.

About the T.V. calling it was American Idol and yes it did it again this evening. Now that the competition has advanced I enjoy watching.

About our telephone service - I had gone to the phone center to have them show me how to send text message followed by a question re our cell phones and all of this resulted in greater savings the one bill for Mel's cell was reduced then with more packaging - the main phone, internet and cell phones there is even more saving and increased hours how much more I am not sure but it will be at least 25.00 dollars if not a little more, back in the fall when the extra cell phone was got and a review of our package then we had been given a 75.00 a month reduction add all of this up  I will take it. Yes I understand we now have free long distance calls added to the package with no change in price ( only savings)

Wednesday past we did not go to Tim's for coffee as someone was coming to the house and today we went to a local gas bar restaurant for lunch (diner)  spare ribs, mashed potatoes or fries with gravy and coffee, I added a salad.  Dinner tonight was soup and sandwich.

We woke up this morning with some added snow on the ground but as the day warmed up it was gone but I understand that tomorrow is to rain and perhaps windy.

  this evening

Well the forcasted snow storm was another non-event.  Ther weather is nice, cold but sunny.  Good to evaporate the snow and water.  Looks like the storn went farther south and hit Ruth's area instead.

Kass did indeed chip her knuckle of her left ring finger, and of course that is the finger that gets knocked around alot when doing anything.  She will be fine, but I fear it means the end to playing the Sax which che loves.  She has chosen her courses for next year, it is done on the computer now so much easier than when I went to school.

I am off to bed.  Tired tonight.

God bless

There is a brisket in the oven for lunch today - I put it in at 9 last night @ 150* - that is what someone in Texas taught and it always turns out well.  Two cousins & spouses arrive today and tonight is the Minnesota picnic here with about 200 people attending.  Don is from Duluth and my parents were both from Minnesota.  The Colorado people had a little gathering when we first came but we missed it.  I also made a fresh lemon pie and will fix a cole slaw too - simple lunch.  Another day of visiting until my jaw aches  :P

Praying daily for this country.

So many posts since I was here.  I must have missed reading/posting yesterday.  Well, now I am caught up again.

Prayers for Janice's brother and Judy's daughter, praises to God for Etta Sue's having found and gotten fixed the brake problem, and for all God does for us each day.

I'm excited about my sister Shirley's book!  So I'm planning a book-signing event at our local library, will be writing some articles for our two local papers, and also planning an appearance for her at the senior center.  All these will be after we get home from Asia, of course.

I am very uneasy about the Care Home move.  This will be the first major upheaval in Beth's life for which I have not been there for her.  So I am praying for God to send a special person who will have time to do the last-minute packing of her clothes, etc. that she needs until then, and help ease her through the process.  They brought her recliner back yesterday, all repaired, and I have spoken to those in charge about having people treat the chair with more respect.  And Beth will be keeping an eye on it as well.

Time to go swim!  See you later......I've already lost a few pounds in a few days of being back on my exercise routine.     Go me!  (as Flylady says.)

I have been up all night with Misty, trying to stop her mouth from bleeding.  She had three teeth taken out after the cleaning yest. and started bleeding around 11 P.M. last night.  They didn't even send home any pain pills, and she was in terrible pain from the time I got her home at 5 P.M.  At 6 A.M. I phoned the clinic and was able to get contact with the Vet.  Took her down and she met us there, has to stay and have stiches, etc.  What a sad little Misty and tired Gramie!!
They seemed more interested in plugging their diet cat food than in what to do to take care of her after the operation.  Not the Vet, the darn techs. that work there......I am not a happy camper >:(

Busy cleaning up the blood from bedding, etc. and would like to have a nap but too tired to sleep.  She will have to have another anesthetic for the stitches.  So far spent $200.00 for shots two weeks ago, $465.00 for cleaning and extractions yest.......Will be going without for some time in the future....I only hope that Misty will be okay after all this.

Time to go.  They did forcast snow but it didn't happen.  Something to be glad about.  Was so cold yest. and not much better this morning.  Oh well, the robins are back and spring must be around somewhere.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

We had rain and strong winds all night and today of course busses are cancelled.  It is now snowing.  Oh well a long weekend for the girls.  I need to get out grocery shopping at somne point today as the weekend will be busy.  Had a rough time sleeping last night, listening to the wind.

John heard that busses were cancelled and made a beeline for the south.  When I was talking to him he said the roads were just wet.  It seems they cancel busses far too quick up here.

Got to run have brunch then onto more alterations.

Liz, so sorry about Misty.  What a long, tiring night for you.  [[[hugs]]]

It was 78 degrees here day before yesterday!  The flowers are coming up; the trees are budding......oh, my.  I do hope our winter doesn't arrive in March, but it sometimes does.

The following really made me search my heart, so I wanted to share it with you:

BERRY SPOONS
--Author Unknown

"I'll never forgive him. I told him I would never forgive him." The
elderly lady spoke softly, but with resolve, as the nurse brought in
her nightly medication. The lady's expression was troubled as she
turned away, focusing on the drape wrapped around her nursing home
bed. This brief exchange revealed a deep, deep hurt.

She told of how her brother had approached her bed, accusing her of
taking more than her share of family heirlooms following their
mother's death. He spoke of various items, ending with "the berry
spoon." He said, "I want the berry spoon." For the forty years since
the mother's death, he had hidden his feelings, and now they erupted.

She was both hurt and angered by his accusation and vowed never to
forgive him. "It's my spoon. Mother gave it to me," she defended
herself. "He's wrong, and I won't forgive him."

Standing at her bedside, the nurse felt her own spirit soften and
grieve. A spoon, a berry spoon! In the bed lay a woman given two
months to live, just sixty days... She would face eternity and never
see her brother again in this life. Her mind and spirit were in
anguish, and her only remaining family ties were broken over a berry
spoon.

As the nurse returned to her station, she was drawn deep into
thought: "How many berry spoons are there in my life? How many
things, as insignificant as a spoon, in light of eternity, separate
me from God, and from others? How does a lack of forgiveness keep me
separated from my family?"

She asked God to search her heart. "How many berry spoons are there
in my life?"

Liz I am so sorry to hear about poor little Misty. I'm glad that you were able to get her to the vet early this morning and that she is being cared for.

I have been pretty busy getting everything nice and clean before I pack it up. this morning I packed the extras sets of sheets some face towels, wash cloths and a couple of quilts. I kept out enough to use until I move.
My Physical Therapy is going along quite well and I went to the last ½ of my Tai Chi practice today.

Well gotta get busy.

I am so sorry about Misty.  It always hurts us when our pets hurt.  They have no way of telling us where the hurt is.  Try to get some sleep tonight Liz, you will feel better tomorrow.

Well, today I'm grateful that microwave of mine was in the apartment this morning. My ear felt so good when I warmed something in the microwave and laid it on the side of my head that I fell sound asleep and slept until 11:30! Ah, well, such are the joys of retirement - no need to be embarrassed to admit sleeping late. :)

It's been beautiful weather here, and now the weather people say by tomorrow evening it will be snowing and we may even have an accumulation!

Wow...just come to Nashville, and if you want something different weather-wise, stick around and you're likely to get your wish!

What a privilege to be asked to counsel with and pray with a friend yesterday. We did this in a cell phone conversation. She is a new christian and had a meeting with the bank and she was terrified that she would become angry and display unchristian attitude. Well, we talked about this possibly being fear-related and that in Timothy we read about not being fearful, but being strong and of a sound mind. Also about the passage where we're counseled to "as much as within you lies, live peaceably with all men." (my paraphrase) At any rate, we prayed for strength and peace as she went to the meeting.

Today she called, and it turned out that there was a large error on the bank's part and overdraft fees were returned, and that she was able to handle the meeting with grace and patience! God IS GOOD!!!

This evening, a friend came home from hip replacement surgery, and a take out meal from Jack in the Box restaurant got delivered to their home. These are a sweet elderly mother and her daughter (who is the one who had surgery). What a blessing they are, and how great to be able to serve them a bit for a change.

Y'all have a good evening.

It was 72° in NC yesterday and a beautiful day but it is a different story today. High today of 54° with cold rain today, tonight and changing to snow for tomorrow and Monday with possible accumulation. Crazy crazy weather is one thing you are assured of in NC! I think Ruth Ann Bice sent this to us. ;D

My grandsons first ballgame of the season was today and I was really looking forward to it :'( but thats ok we really need the moisture. Another day, I'll just plant more flowers.

Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Did you hear all the chatting and visiting from here yesterday?  I had two cousins from mid-Minnesota for BBQ and a long lunch yesterday - then, two friends joined us and we were eight.  Tues, we drive to Yuma to visit with my two Seattle area cousins & their spouses, staying overnight.  Next week, there will be two more Minnesota cousins & spouses here for just one night.  Also, a neighbor & wife will be here for lunch - a Colorado neighbor.  Also, daughter will fly here at the end of the month.  This is an active month for visitors and some I can't even think about until they call.   :)

We went to the Minnesota party last night with an interesting talk from the state historical society.  They have more historical information in that state than most other states - it is so interesting that I need to think about have at least a full day to go through their info at St. Paul once of these years.

Ruth Ann:  Still some earache for you?  I am so sorry.  Glad the warmth helped one night.

Hi Janet:  You must be getting ready to go on  your trip.  Exciting.  Surely Beth will have tender care on the move.

:coffee:  Washing clothes, Don only has one pair of shorts and we noticed they were filthy when company arrived yesterday.

Hi everyone from a very rainy Georgia.  It is suppose to get colder and by tomorrow we are likely to see some snow showers.  Just back from coffee this morning and plan to stay in for the rest of the day.

Yesterday was a really busy and stressful day and I was so tired last evening that I went to bed at 7:45 and went immediately asleep and hardly moved during the night.  While I feel better today am still a bit tired and feeling the effects of the stress.  I drove to Atlanta and picked up Stacey and brought her out to our area to see the chiropractor and as soon as she was finished I took her back to her apartment and headed to the doctor's office.  I was suppose to be there by 1:45 for a 2:15 appointment.  Because of several wrecks on the Interstate the traffic was very slow and I didn't get to the doctor's office until 2:10 but still had to wait about 15 minutes before being called.

My doctor concurred that I may have had a small heart attack about 10 days ago when I had brought on a lot of pain while walking at the gym and had forgotten to take my heart medications.  He said all of my vessels are very diseased and it is possible one of the small vessels had an incident and that after a few days the heart had  readjusted and that was why I have started feeling better again.  He told me if I had an appointment and the weather was bad, as it was yesterday, to reschedule even though they treaten to charge if you don't cancel 24 hours in advance.  He said he would see that I wasn't charged.  I think I am one of his longer time patients as he has been my heart doctor for 20 years or more.  He gave me a new prescription for pain medication but then called and said they had realized after I left that it contained codeine, to which I am allergic, so they were calling in something else to the pharmacy.

I have read all of the postings but will not make individual comments today--just lazy I guess.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning from sunny Florida!

Yesterday we went swimming at the pool here in the RV Resort.  Sea salt instead of chlorine and as warm as bath water!  Great.  Then the club house had lunch of sandwiches, sides and drinks.  Great.  We came back to the house and left for Herrmann's Lippazaner Horses.  It is the training facility for them but a very nice hour and fifteen minute show.  After that the rest of the ones that we know here in the park, met us at Troyer's Amish Buffet.  Lots of great food and a beautiful place.

Today a bunch of us are going to the beach and then have a picnic on the beach.  Then tonight we are all going to a pizza buffet!

Looks like everyone (almost) is up and at it today.

These children of ours boy do they ever lay on the guilt.  They don't even need to say anything.  YOu know there are needs and work to accomodate them but even so sometines everything is not enough, and they don't even need to say anything!

We have a bright sunny day, cold but bright.  I have a lot to get accomplished today so I will wish each of you a blessed day.

It was nice to read your post, Melody.

Misty is home again after spending the day at the Vet's yest.  The vet was really nice and didn't charge me for the emergency call, or all that they did for Misty to correct the bleeding problem.  Sent her home with pain killers, soft food and a bag of her expensive Dental Food.  Only charged me another 109.00 for a necessary blood test that I agreed to and the pain pills.  Have to find out why her blood doesn't clot....like mine.  Hmm?  She has to go and have a check in a few minutes and then back on Thursday.  This is like having another kid and almost as expensive.  $785 and rising... ::)  But the love and hugs are worth the worry and expense.

A friend of mine had a heart attack and the service is at a Legion tomorrow.  Strange...but am going to go.  We carpet bowled together and everyone is trying to attend.  Not religious...so this will be different for me.  A nice person and very kind.  She will be missed.

Time to go to the Vet's again.  Have a nice day and no rain today!!!!  I think Spring will soon arrive.

God Bless.

Liz

Ruth Ann, you are such a blessing to those who know you!  Great that the counseling session brought the desired results.  And I'm so glad the warmth to your ear brought you much-needed sleep.

Larry, please do take care of yourself.  We need you around here, you're a blessing to all of us!

Hello, Marilyn.

Judy, yes, our kids are good at making us feel guilty---sort of like our mothers!  ;)

Liz, what an enormous vet bill!  Whew!  But glad your kitty is feeling better.

I drove over and picked up Abby this morning, so am enjoying her company today.  She has grown up/is growing up far too fast.  But she is a lovely girl, and this grandma enjoys her so much.

Etta Sue, it sounds like food and fun where you are!  Be careful not to raise your cholesterol too much!  ;)  While you are enjoying picnics on the beach, we are having 18 degree mornings.  But still no moisture of any kind.  :(

Have any of you heard that cancer is a FUNGUS?  And that it can be cured by a simple mixture of baking soda and maple syrup?  My sister sent me the information, along with testimonials....so I have a batch mixed up to take to Beth.  The info says "any tumor on God's green earth can be dissolved" by the mixture.  So I thought "Baking soda?  Maple syrup?  Those things CAN'T hurt her, so why not give it a try?"  So.......

I have a big pot of soup simmering on the stove, and feel hungry, so guess what I'm about to do?  8)

Janet you make me hungry.  Can I have a bowl?

Liz pets do cost us.  I think the vet bills are higher than the doctor bills.  Mind you the drugs really do cost especially if not covered by insurance.  I need one that costs over $80, and it just has to wait.

We have icy temps again today.  Can't wait till spring.

Back atcha later.

Baking soda and Maple syrup. Hmmmm. that is a different approach to fungus, I know that sugar feeds cancer, people with cancer and  who have had cancer surgery are told now to use sugar. At least my friends have. I guess it has to be 100% pure maple syrup too.

Turmeric is supposed to be a cancer preventative but is also an anti inflammatory. I take it for pain.

Well, I didn't know about the "no sugar" for cancer patients.  And maple syrup and baking soda is a new one on me, as well.  ???  Guess it's true that we learn something new every day.   :)

As for the kids making us feel guilty: whenever anyone started in with the guilt, my daughter, Jean, would say "Pack your bags, we're going on a guilt trip."  ::)  She never seemed to let it get to her.  Of course, that may be that she was just not showing her feelings ... learned that from her mother, I think.   :)

well I have john's meals about ready. Liver for dinner and squash foir lunch sausage and eggs for breakfast.  He is welcome to the liver and he calls it a treat.  I don't.

Gotta run again soup for supper and I am not sure how close he is.

Elizabeth is throwing in more wood and that will be enough for tomorrow and Monday.

Gotta run.

Judy, I guess you gave up waiting for that bowl of my soup to arrive, so made your own, right?  As for liver..... :P YUCK.

Marilyn, the pure maple sugar carries the soda into the cancer cells, it quickly changes the PH and kills the cells.  They say it is even good for diabetics.  Like I said, can't hurt.  I guess if we tried every remedy we came across, we would be taking/eating/drinking stuff all day long, and no time to eat good stuff.

I took the maple sugar/baking soda to Beth and she is going to take it every day for eight days.  That's the recommendation.  Doesn't really taste too bad.

Jane, we live and learn, and learn, and learn, don't we?  At least, that is my goal!

I sure hope it works for Beth.  It even sounds like it tastes good too.

Pat:   Yeah, I have a laptop.  I was killing time with the internet.  I have a wireless internet card for my laptop.  I can go just about anywhere with it.
No, I didn't take that picture.  It's just one that I've had on my hard drive that I like to use for greetings.
:)

I'd like to know more about this card.  I'm without internet when I go to Winchester, VA and it's just awful.

Good Sunday morning to you all!

Darrel has taken Abby halfway to meet her Dad, and I'm ready to leave for church.  We went to a fund raising dinner last night, ate pancakes and sausage, and all three of us had stomach cramps all night.  Ugh.  Ethics question:  Should we mention it to a member of the organization who put on the meal?   :-\

March has arrived!!  Will Winter arrive soon in Southwest Kansas??

Darrel isn't going to church, as his stomach problem makes him uneasy about ... uh..... possibly not making it to you-know-where in time.  :-[ :(

Talk to you later!

I came back to say, no, the soda/maple syrup does not taste good, but it's not awful, either.

Good Afternoon y'all!

Awoke to almost 3 inches of snow on the ground!  Watch out Larry! It's coming your way!

Things are slowly getting better around here.  Thanks again for all the prayers.

later,
Samantha

Hi from rainy Florida...and Florida is badly in need for rain.  The sun is trying, tho.

Fourteen people from Noblesville, Indiana, went to Baden River Methodist Church this morning!  Great message.  Then ten of us went out for breakfast.  Now we are laid back and resting, packing and whatever until 5pm when 10 of us will have dinner at another couple's house from Noblesville and then we will play cards.

Then up bright and early tomorrow and get on the road to return home.  Short trip but lots of fun in the sun!

Pat ~ My laptop is wireless internally but you have to have wireless internet available to you.  At the motel, I had to use my room number and a password to get on the internet since it is a secured wireless internet.  Here, it isn't secured.  I can't get on the internet at Kitty's because it is secured and she doesn't know the user name and password!!  She will have a problem if she gets a new laptop.  So I don't think the wireless card would help you unless there is wireless at Winchester!  Sorry!

Samantha and Larry:  Snow is one the way - I saw some stalled semis on the news.

Larry:  Please don't forget your morning pills.  There is nothing "small" about any heart problem.

Melody:  Hello - nice to "see" you.

We even had time this morning for a 2 mile walk in an area behind some houses but the trail was really colorful with new budding on the cacti and so forth.  Saw a road runner bird - a female.  We have to do these walks earlier and earlier now as it is heating up in the desert.  The good thing is that we get it over very early in the day and can do other things as well.

We called one son yesterday on his cell phone - reception was so clear.  He was in the mountains and it was a high of  8*F - the cabin was so cold that he went outside to stand in the sun.  He had shoveled half side of the driveway because snow was packed 5 ft. deep.  I wish that he wouldn't do all that work.  Anyway, I am not planning to go and see that place too soon.   :o  He is measuring everything and it will be a banner day in mid-May when they can put electricity and gas in - the ground is too frozen for them to do this any earlier.

Hi, friends,

Today I'm grateful that my daughter and her fiance are safe, although they've had a really difficult night. They left Nashville after the hockey game last night to drive to his home near Memphis. Well, they got stranded by backed up traffic only 20 miles from the exit and were there all night long. Most certainly, Tennessee road crews don't know how to handle 12" of snow!

They finally arrived at his home about an hour ago.

Etta Sue, y'all drive safely.

Larry, do take care of yourself - we love you and thank God for our association with you.

Pat, yes, my son says there are internet connection cards (usually connected with a person's cell phone service) that will give them computer access all over the world.

Thank you all for your friendship. Much love to each of you.

Ruth Ann
