Morning Devotional...I have chosen the way of truth; Your judgments I have laid before me. I cling to Your testimonies; O Lord, do not put me to shame! --Psalm 119:30-31
The important thing about a man is not where he goes when he is compelled to go, but where he goes when he is free to go where he will....
A man is absent from church Sunday morning. Where is he? If he is in a hospital having his appendix removed his absence tells us nothing about him except that he is ill; but if he is out on the golf course, that tells us a lot. To go to the hospital is compulsory; to go to the golf course, voluntary. The man is free to choose and he chooses to play instead of to pray. His choice reveals what kind of man he is. Choices always do....
I think it might be well for us to check our spiritual condition occasionally by the simple test of compatibility. When we are free to go, where do we go? In what company do we feel most at home? Where do our thoughts turn when they are free to turn where they will? When the pressure of work or business or school has temporarily lifted and we are able to think of what we will instead of what we must, what do we think of then?
The answer to these questions may tell us more about ourselves than we can comfortably accept. But we had better face up to things. We haven't too much time at the most.
Dr. Tozer in Man: The Dwelling Place of God, 158-161."Lord, as a pastor or teacher I can't choose to play golf on Sunday morning, but I can choose a lot of other things that are just as revealing of my inner character. Help me to make choices today that are pleasing to You. Amen."
Excellent devotional Pat, Thank you.
Janet I am also praying for Beth and Larry I am praying fo Stacey
I have my PJ's on and have washed my face and brushed my hair. so I am ready for bed, and when the mood hits me off to bed I will go.
Good Night.
Good devotional Pat.
It is really late and it has been a long day. We finished with Romans in Small Group and we will be off for the next 2 weeks. Makes little difference to ma as I have to head to town on Monday for Cadets anyway.
Larry, Janet, Ruth Ann, and the rest of you just remember I am praying for your concerns.
Now I have to head to bed. Night all and have a great day tomorrow.
:)
Hi to all. Pat thanks for this devotional. I have heard this before but it make you think a lot about the decisions you do make when you already know where you should be going.
I had a very long day today the 3rd. I was able to be with my daughter and my grandson and a friend of my daughter's and my wife. We all went to Niagara Fall's N.Y. And also to other part's of the Buffalo area and of course the ladies shop till they dropped and my wife uses her scooter, if there's a way that she can shop she will find it. HA. HA HA. I must say that we had a wonderful time and the baby was so good. It is so importent to spend time with our families and to be a witness as they are still not given themselves completly to him. Please pray for them.
Good night or should I say good morning. God bless. :coffee:
Tuesday night here in Japan. Mrs Soileau is feeling much better, having struggled with a stomach virus over the weekend. Many friends were praying for her quick recovery and it was quite speedy. We appreciate His mercy and those who interceded on her behalf.
It's a bit long, but here's a good Word from John's Gospel, chapter 5.
Afterward Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holy days. Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda, with five covered porches. Crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches. One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew how long he had been ill, he asked him, "Would you like to get well?"
"I can't, sir," the sick man said, "for I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I am trying to get there, someone else always gets in ahead of me."
Jesus told him, "Stand up, pick up your sleeping mat, and walk!"
Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up the mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath day. So the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, "You can't work on the Sabbath! It's illegal to carry that sleeping mat!"
He replied, "The man who healed me said to me, 'Pick up your sleeping mat and walk.'"
"Who said such a thing as that?" they demanded.
The man didn't know, for Jesus had disappeared into the crowd. But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, "Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you." Then the man went to find the Jewish leaders and told them it was Jesus who had healed him.
So the Jewish leaders began harassing Jesus for breaking the Sabbath rules. But Jesus replied, "My Father never stops working, so why should I?" So the Jewish leaders tried all the more to kill him. In addition to disobeying the Sabbath rules, he had spoken of God as his Father, thereby making himself equal with God.
In His Grip,
Kevin
Hi everyone. I am overwhelmed, but shouldn't be, with the outpouring of prayer support for our daughter. I am happy to be able to report that another heart cath was done yesterday afternoon late and they found no new blockages or reasons for the severe chest pain she experienced. They are keeping her in the hospital for a 24 hour observation. The only thing they found was that her potasium was low and treated her for that. She already has 17 different prescription medicines she takes so hope this is not something she will need to take medicine for. We did not go down to the hospital and as she just lives across from the hospital, perhaps a block away we don't plan on going down to pick her up today.
Pat has gone to the senior center and I have a commitment this morning. I am happy to say I think I am over the last bout of not feeling up to par and a sense of well-being has returned that I haven't had for several days. Sure hope that is the case. Pat even fixed my lunch for me yesterday, which was very much appreciated.
I voted this morning as Georgia is one of the 22 or 24 States having primaries today. This should be an interesting evening to watch the election returns. We only had two items to vote for, the choice for President in the declared party and a school bond issue. Fortunately there were no lines and I probably spent no more than 5 minutes in the polling place.
Pat, thanks for the fine devotional. It seems that fewer and fewer folks are faithful in their church attendance. One thing we have done for several years when we go to Florida for Pat's cousin's reunion is to attend the church where her aunt and one of her cousins attend. We will be going to Florida at the end of the month for this annual event. We will also spend the night with our friends who winter in Inverness and also stop and see friends from church who are now living with their son and wife near Inverness. They are both in their 90's and are the couple we used to take home from church or out to dinner with the group when they came to the point where they could no longer drive. The lady is very spry and has a wonderful sense of humor. Unfortunately the man is in early stages of dementia.
Kevin, glad to hear that your wife is feeling better. The power of prayer is awesome.
Gord, glad your wife is able to get out with her scooter. Those are wonderful aides to folks who need them. Did you get to hold the grandchild while the others shopped?
Janet, glad your eyes are improving. Hope that problem clears up soon.
Ruth Ann, I had never heard that phrase on praying from the old hymn.
Marilyn, it sounds like you have a busy day planned today. Hope you enjoy each minute of it.
Etta Sue, nothing is consistent as change. Glad the insurance change didn't create problems for you.
Samantha, the rain can't hurt but now sure it has been enough to help with the drought.
Hello all! Just breezing through on my way to get ready to get ready for work. :)
One week ago today, Kristi broke her foot. The first couple of days she was in the cast, she wouldn't walk. Now, we can't stop her. :0 It is amazing to watch her run and play. cast and all. Kids are truly resilient.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, Jesus filled day.
Take care, all.
k.
:)
Good mornig to all. Well an other day has come and praise the Lord for the strength that he gives us.
Larry: I also have remembered your daughter in prayer and she has had a rough time but he is able to keep her and to give her all the strength that she need's. Yes I did get to hold the baby a lot and he is such a good boy for being only 3 month's. Don't do to much as you will get tired to fast and that's no good. Have a great week.
In His Grip. (Kevin) How are you doing hope all is well over there in Japan. I must say that I enjoy your scriptures that you have been putting onto your posting's. Keep it coming. God bless.
Karmat: It is a miracle how fast kid's adjust to an injured foot or any other part's of there body. I can remember when my daughter broke her leg and the first few days were terrible but as you said after that it was no problem. I see that you are a busy mum so look after yourself and God bless.
Judy B. Hope you are well and do overdo it the body can only take so much. And remember your not a spring chicken any more ha ha. Love you sis.

It is still morning for a little while longer...
I got a late start this morning by sleeping in and then Ivalou called me and chatted....and chatted. ^-^
I now live on lake front property! My, what rain we had last night. It sounded like sleet or hail. But it was 50+ degrees so it was RAIN. My sump pump has been running wild...thank God.
I noticed on my cell phone that I had a Voice Mail from my vets office yesterday...I didn't hear it ring and I was in Pendleton getting my car looked over. I get the urinary tract infection cat food there. Now I have to go back to Pendleton this afternoon before going to Photo Guild tonight.
I just looked outside and it is terribly foggy! We usually don't get fog until March or April. Hmmmm!
What about Bobby Knight resigning? That's what Ivalou was talking to me about. He's an icon in Indiana since he coached IU for years.
Just remember, I may not mention your names but I pray for all of you and your families and all your concerns. God Bless You All.(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FCrosses.gif&hash=ad45ef356b97007ebd631ebdc02ba9e0ed40d8d0)

Hi, friends,
I'm in from work, and plenty tired this evening. I voted first at our precinct, then headed straight in to work. Was supposed to take my son to the doctor, but he had such an awful headache he couldn't ride. Since I had worked through lunch to be able to leave early, I ended up working 10 hours. I reckon I'll be happy to rest this evening. :idiot:
Y'all have a good remainder of the day.
Hi Ruth Ann...
Hope your headache doesn't last. Am praying for you my sister.
Hi Gord! Glad you liked the joke. Thought of you immediately I read it when it was sent to me. HAHAHA!
Etta Sue, we're supposed to be getting freezing rain. Not sure if you ae getting it.
I got everything accomplished today except for the chiropractor, he is not in his office on Tuesday afternoons and I forgot that. I got to Apria early and was seen immediately, I got a new model apnea mask and water reservoir for my machines humidifier. I got my shopping done and was home by 2 Pm so took the dogs out for a nice walk each.
Tomorrow I am going to lunch again with my friend Conny and Maureen. The kids will probably come by sometime tomorrow I hope before I go to church for Bible Study. My friend Eleanor called me last night and invited me to come to her Church on Saturday night to participate in dance worship with my Glory Ring or use their flags whatever I feel like doing. She goes to the Baptist church in Arcata.
Well that's all for this time.
Hi everyone. Have just a few minutes to write this morning and then have to leave to pick up my friend to go to morning coffee. We then have Bible Study this morning and this evening I have choir practice so it will be a full day. Our daughter got out of the hospital yesterday afternoon and the doctor thinks this new pain may be related to her stomach. Just what she needs, something else.
I had a couple of things in my e-mail this morning that I want to share with you all. The first is a video that really warms my heart: Here is the link: http://www.stservicemovie.com/ (http://www.stservicemovie.com/) .
Here is the second item:
At the end of each year, a church gave their children pencils and paper and
asked them to chronicle what they have learned.
This assignment never fails to elicit some intriguing responses. In case you're a little foggy on your biblical history, let our junior church students help you with this complete overview of the Bible, compiled from their essays:
In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas.
The Bible says, "The Lord thy God is one," but I think He must be a lot
older than that. Anyway, God said, "Give me a light!" and someone did. Then God made the world. He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden. Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.
Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.
Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who
lived to be like a million or something. One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.
After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.
Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable. God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti.
Then He gave them His top ten Commandments. These include don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's bottom (the Bible uses a bad word for bottom that I'm not supposed to say. But my Dad uses it sometimes when he talks about the President). Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor they father and they mother.
One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town. After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.
After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore. There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.
After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of the New Testament. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn, too, because my mom is always saying to me, "Close the door! Were you born in a barn?" It would be nice to say, "As a matter of fact, I was.")
A couple of my girlfriends are taking me out for lunch today. They wouldn't tell me where; it is a surprise.
What a terrible night of tornados, twisters and storms!
Let's pray for the folks in the Tennessee area and on up to Kentucky and Arkansas. It's terrible. I saw that the death toll is now 48.

Larry ~ That movie of Johnny was wonderful. Just think how this world would be if we all had a little of Johnny in us!
Another funeral home visitation this evening. A man that attends Ivalou's church passed away. Ivalou, Marge, Betty and I are going and then eat out somewhere. Does that surprise anyone?
Also I said I would drive. We have had so much rain every thing is soaked. We had high winds last evening but no tornado warnings. But today the temp is to go down and predicting sleet/snow this afternoon and evening. Ivalou feels more surer of my driving than her own so I will drive.
Last evening was Photo Guild. I am always amazed in the professionalism in the photography there. We each can submit a total of 4 photos to be gently critiqued...digital photos, slides and prints that are matted. There were 34 digital photos, probably at least 20 of each of the other two genre. Always a wonderful evening. o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0

Hi Janet...
Probably because this is your first post in the new topic?
You'll probably get them now that you've posted.
I hope that everyone reads THIS (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=6611.0)
Etta Sue, I guess it does surprise me. I think maybe the "viewing" is not so prevalent out west, unless it is your own family. It's never been part of what I've known anyway. But going out to dinner after an official goodbye, and you aren't close to the deceased, I guess it isn't so strange. lol
Is the "viewing" just a show of respect for the family? I always wondered about that.
I am now a first time great gramma. Angel had her baby girl last night at 10:36. :) Gotta go babysit now so gramma can go to the hospital and see her girl and grandbaby again. Nita

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARILYN! <3
Hi Colin... How's the weather over there?
It's snowing a blizzard right now over here.
Nita, hope you don't mind, but I looked at your lovely card, too! Congratulations GGMA!! Have you noticed how much younger great grandmas are these days? ;)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARILYN!! :hbirthday: :groupwave: Are you 39 this year?
I'm watching the reports of the devastating tornadoes in the South. My goodness, they are terrible. Death toll is 50 and counting.
I have a good report! :) I had a back screening test today, and the PT man told me that my scores when compared to the national numbers are higher than a 28 year old!! Exercise and strength training pays off........along with good genes, of course.
I have another eye appointment at 4:45, the last of three appointments today.
We had some snow and it was really cold yesterday, but today has been sunny and beautiful and the snow is melting rapidly. That's the way I like it! We do need the moisture, but glad the snow is melting!
Good reports, Janet. That's good.
I heard that there were now over 68 deaths? I hope that's incorrect. It's just so awful.
Thank you all for the wonderful Birthday Greetings. I had a great lunch in Trinidad at the Seascape. That is where Al, Marbeth, Chris, Margit and I had
lunch when Chris and Margit were over here for a visit. I had Clam chowder and ½ crab sandwich and chocolate cheese cake. There was so much crab on that sandwich i had to eat at least half of it before I could close the bread. Gilbert called while I was having lunch. i don't think they will make it here B4 I go to church tonight as Forest has Basketball practice at 7PM.
I forgot to take my camera along today. Shame on me!!! The ocean was so beautiful and the day just amazing.
:coffee:
Good morning. Cold with crystal clear skies here.
Some more from the Gospel of John...
"Don't waste your energy striving for perishable food like that. Work for the food that sticks with you, food that nourishes your lasting life, food the Son of Man provides. He and what he does are guaranteed by God the Father to last."
To that they said, "Well, what do we do then to get in on God's works?"
Jesus said, "Throw your lot in with the One that God has sent. That kind of a commitment gets you in on God's works."
They waffled: "Why don't you give us a clue about who you are, just a hint of what's going on? When we see what's up, we'll commit ourselves. Show us what you can do. Moses fed our ancestors with bread in the desert. It says so in the Scriptures: 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'"
Jesus responded, "The real significance of that Scripture is not that Moses gave you bread from heaven but that my Father is right now offering you bread from heaven, the real bread. The Bread of God came down out of heaven and is giving life to the world."
They jumped at that: "Master, give us this bread, now and forever!"
Jesus said, "I am the Bread of Life. The person who aligns with me hungers no more and thirsts no more, ever."
In His Grip,
Kevin
I, too, am really saddened at the losses sustained by both man and beast from those storms. They were actually even picking farm animals up and throwing them around. Fortunately, Nashville itself was spared, but oh how sad I am about all the destruction these storms have caused.
Marilyn, happy, happy birthday. I'm chasing not too far behind, so you'll have birthday company from Pat and me a little later this year.
Nita, how sweet! And, several others of our members are great grandparents, too, aren't they? Pat that was a beautiful card. You certainly should enjoy that little one.
I won't be going to see my Atlanta children this weekend as planned, but for a real good reason! Our company offered some Bill Gaither tickets, and I was allotted 2 of them. I have a vision challenged friend who's having a terrible time with stresses both monetary and otherwise right now. I believe I'll ask her to accompany me to the concert Friday night.
Y'all have a good evening. I had a big diabetes low blood sugar just a while ago, so am finally starting to recover.
I'll feel not so good for several hours, so need to go lie down.
Ohh, Ruth Ann... Feel better. I hope you enjoy the concert just so much!
Glad you had a lovely birthday, Marilyn.
Thanks Kevin for the scripture reading today. Hope you're slowing down a bit these days! ;)
Marilyn, happy birthday!! :)
Thanks for the good wishes on my being a new great grandma. And the card, Pat, was really sweet. Angel and baby are coming home tomorrow, so I'll be sure she sees it too. I hope she's coming home tomorrow. Her blood pressure has been way high since during labor. Tonight it was 130 over 90. She's only 18. They're hoping it is simply that she needs rest and gets some sleep tonight. They don't do much to help with babies like they used to. They are kept in your room, you feed, change, etc. How do new mom's sleep?
The storms were devastating. How sad. I started praying as soon as I saw it on the news.
Ruth Ann, hope you are feeling better soon.
I'm headed to bed. It's been a long two days. Nita
Hi Nita and congratulations on being a great grandma!
Hi Pat....we are having a very mild day today. I give you a nudge and a gift in facebook last night. I have not really been in that site very much. Hope you are keeping well.

Sarah, I can relate to that experience. I did it many, many times. :) I never knew whether to be annoyed or relieved!
Happy Birthday Marilyn. Can't remember if I've said that or not.
Congrats Nita on the baby!!!
We got a lot of rain and stuff yesterday, but it looks like a gorgeous day today. Maybe we can go outside and play, or something!
Thanks be to our Father for the new great, Nita! I don't have any of those yet, though I've got plenty of eligible grandkids.
I remember doing that often Sarah!!!
How's everyone today? We've had so much snow overnight and all day yesterday.
Thanks Colin! Got it.

yesterday. Perhaps I should start posting in the evening so I am not late in wishing happy birthdays... :-[
Nita ~ Congratulations on the new g-g-baby!! My, they come home from the hospital quick these days...too soon, I think!
In Indiana, most of the time...if there is a funeral...there is one evening of 'visiting' and then the next day for the funeral. When I was working, I felt the visitation evening was for those who work and couldn't attend the funeral. Now I think it is to show respect for the deceased and their families. You have time to visit with the families and to give them your condolences. You don't do that at the funeral unless you are really close or family and you go to the funeral dinner that is most of the time given by their church. Since I have become a Christian, I have noticed that a funeral or visitation for a Christian is a time of celebration...you hear people reminiscing and laughing and thanking God that their loved one is no longer in pain. Not so at non-Christian funerals....a lot of tears at them. This is only my personal observation.
More recently I have read in the obituaries that there is no funeral...only a memorial service somewhere. Most of those times, there is no viewing because they are cremated. Expense has a lot to do with those decisions.
Back to happier thoughts...but then what could be happier than to know a loved one is with our Father in Heaven?
I just took a Pound Cake out of the oven. My house smells sooooo good...do you smell it?
Today I am still on lake front property but all the ponds and lakes are frozen. Finally my sump pump is getting a rest! But thank God, I have the sump pump...takes the worry out of me when it rains cats and dogs! ~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@ (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FDailys%2FMyhst.gif&hash=c2ef5bd725a42718d2ab28e936b13782af4f7bb7)
I smell it, Etta Sue...one of my favourite types of cakes!
Etta Sue, now you can go ice skating instead of swimming! ;) I just learned this week that one of the guys I went from first grade through high school with had a heart attack and died. He was cremated--no service of any kind. :o I hate that! To me, it makes it seem as if the person was of no more value than an animal! How do others feel about this trend? I do realize that cremation is much cheaper than a funeral; but NO service?? It just doesn't seem right! I have read of this being done several times lately, in the paper.
I went to work with Darrel today. We pulled 6 lines of wire into the ceiling of a local supermarket for the camera system he is installing. It just isn't possible to pull them by himself. He was on the top of a 10' ladder, moving from one area to the next, and I was unrolling the heavy wires off 3 different spools as he needed them. I'm so glad I am able to help him. We got finished with that just in time for me to go to school to eat with my Youth Friends and then we made Valentines together. (The girls and I, not Darrel and I!) ;) Now I must do some laundry.
Hello there, Colin!
Kevin, I am enjoying the Scriptures in your posts. The Bread of heaven---I have heard three teaching about that in about a week, so am asking God what I am to take from that.
Ruth Ann, what a thoughtful friend you are. Your friend will enjoy HEARING the concert, even if she cannot see well. Thank you for being the person God wants you to be! <3 I have been praying you were safe from those awful storms, as I heard some were in your area.
Marilyn, that sounds like a lovely place to have a birthday meal. Glad you enjoyed your day.
Hi, Sarah! I've been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing.
We had more snow last night, which is almost all melted now. Yea!
Hi, Pat! We must chat again soon!
Oh!! Before I forget, I have another praise report! I no longer need glasses, either to drive or to read!! First time in my entire life!! 8)
hello all My best birthday present came in my email this morning it was a very long love letter from my friend. I have heard a word from him in over a week and I was beginning to think that God had closed that door between us. Today I am telling myself "oh ye of little faith" ;D
It is raining a light mist type of rain today, just enough that I can't get out to walk with my furbabies.
I think I will go make a pot of soup.
Janet - relative to viewings/funerals, etc. - Personally, I strongly believe in memorial services. I believe such services should be particularly oriented around celebration - of both the life God grants us for a time and for the absolute wonder and joy of eternal life with Jesus our Lord. I see no particular point in a viewing, for the one we see is not the one who is eternal. I think it's wonderful to pay respect to the loved ones - because we loved the departed one. May God give each of us absolute certainty of eternal life, and may He increase our joy in Christ our living Lord.
I was just talking to my mom on the phone and read something to her. She totally fell over laughing and said that I just had to post what I read to her on here. So here it goes.
The Wal-Mart Cat
A blonde was weed-eating her yard and accidentally cut off the tail of her cat which was hiding in the grass. She rushed her cat, along with the tail over to WAL-MART! Why WAL-MART?
HELLOOOOOOOOO!
WALMART is the largest re-tailer in the world!!!
Hope you got a chuckle out of it as well.
God bless
Heather
Hi everyone. First of all before I forget, Happy Birthday Marilyn and congrats great grandmother Nita. Those great grandchildren are so special, at least our are to me. We never had the privilege of really being close to our granddaughter or step grandson and lost our only grandson when he was 7 months old. So I relish the time I have with our great grandchildren and consider it a miracle of God to put them into our lives.
Janet, wonderful news on the eyes. I can't imagine not wearing glasses as have done it for so many years. Glad your other tests turned out well.
Al, I pretty well agree with you on the viewing at funerals. I am certainly not an advocate of no service at all as the service is for the family.
Pat, it sounds like you have had quite a blizzard up your way. I spoke with my sister on ther birthday yesterday and she lives in Northern Iowa. She was commenting on how much snow they have had this winter and currently have. I had to rub it in a little bit when I told her it was about 60 degrees here yesterday. She said she didn't want to hear it.
Etta Sue, baking a cake sure does leave a house smelling good. I have you all of my luncheon experience today. I met a friend at a new place called the Snellville Diner (Snellville is the name of the town). It has recently opened and never closes. The food was delicious and a great variety of dishes. As you enter they have those circular displays of cakes that beat about anything I have ever seen. Each cake had to be 12 inches or more high and probably 10 inches around. The hostess told us that to buy a whole cake cost $65 and a piece is $6.95. Don't think I will be having any of that as it sounds too rich for my pocketbook.
Ruth Ann I would love to go to a Gaither concert and really like the gospel music they sing. However, I understand from a friend who goes each time they come to our area that the concert is about 4 hours long and that is just too long. So I willl just enjoy their tv programs and the recordings I have. I also like the Anthony Burgers music. You can find a lot of both on YouTube if you have highspeed Internet.
Heather, now really!! :)
Hello from Arizona! We are going to our time-share tomorrow, meanwhile staying at a nice hotel but an awful part of Phoenix suburbs - I can't imagine living here. Sorry if anyone lives near here. Drove through heart-stopping snow/ice/blizzard/fog - did I say ice? Angels surrounded our vehicle -
Larry: If Stacey's problem is esophogus irritation, then, that can by helped very quickly. It mimics a heart problem in pain.
Marilyn: Happy Birthday
Nita: Congrats on new g -g child.
Pat: Sounds lilke you are home? Glad that your trip was safe.
Carol
Good one, Heather!
Hi Carol! There's no place like home, right?
HI: I did not realize that I had been away for a few days. We had 2 days with the snow storms, but it was only today that we did not go to work. It was a productive day as I got a sewing project finished for my daughter, now to start on some sewing for myself what a good feeling when something is done and put away.
Happy Birthday Marilyn.
Heather that was a good one.
Nita: Congratulates on becoming a great grandma.
Hi everyone ... I've "been away" for a while, myself. :-\ Things and stuff just keep happening and I keep just going with the flow ....
I fell on the cement floor of my carport the other day and have been very careful how I sit, stand, walk, or not as the case may be .... A bit sore in the seating area, to say the least. :-[
I'm still making my rounds to the doctors ... The latest opinion is that my "persistent cough" (which is not so persistent now) is caused by, as Carol mentioned, esophogeal irritation and the doctor is scheduling some other "oscopy" to check for hiatal hernia ... :-\ Oh, well, one of these daze I'll have it figured out, y'think?
I gave blood again today. It is getting more and more difficult for them to find a vein from which to draw the blood. Today I was there for two hours or more!! When they finally did decide on a vein, the blood was slow and even clotted in the tube. :-\ Oh, well, I'm home now and trying to find a soft place to land for the evening.
I am sorry for not publicly congratulating my friend, Nita, on the newest member of her family! I am really happy for you, and all concerned, Bestest.
And -- a belated Happy Birthday to Marilyn, too! I'll have to share an email I just got from my sister. All you young'uns can just skip over it if it bores you.
Y'all take care now... and I'll be back (as you-know-who said).
Thought some of you'd appreciate this:
The other day a young person asked me how I felt about being old. I was taken aback, for I do not think of myself as old.
Upon seeing my reaction, she was immediately embarrassed, but I explained that it was an interesting question, and I would ponder it, and let her know.
Old Age, I decided, is a gift.
I am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have always wanted to be. Oh, not my body! I sometimes despair over my body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt. And often I am taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror (who looks like my mother!), but I don't agonize over those things for long.
I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60's and 70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.
I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set... They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.
Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car?
But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.
I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.
As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.
So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.
And I shall eat dessert every single day. (If I feel like it).
May our friendship never come apart especially when it's straight from the heart!
May you always have a rainbow of smiles on your face and in your heart forever and ever!
:)
Good evening to you all. I have beenreading over the posting's and they again are very interesting. As Pat has told you we have had bad weather up in Canada but we sure are praying for those less fortunate in the States. :)
Larry: Thank you for the movie about the young man in the supermarket that story made me think a lot and a lot of people need to see a story like that when they complain that life is so terrible.
Marilyn: Belated birthday wishes and it sounds like you had a great one. May the Lord grant you many more.
Janet: Hope that you are well and as per usual you sound like your are very busy don't do to much. ;)
Pat: The story about the bible is very good and it is hard to believe how he get's it back. Hope that you are o.k and not overdoing it. God Bless Sis.
Nita: Cogratulation's on the great Grandchild we are just loving our grandchildren and they are so beautiful :)
Heather: Very good joke. How are you doing hope well :)
Ruth Ann Bice.: I am sorry to here that you had a bad low. I have had a couple of them and they are not nice I do hope that you feel better tomorrow and we will be praying for you. ;)
Colin" Nice to see you on line keep those poem's coming and hope you can get an email of some time soon.
To all other's hope that all is well and may the Lord richly bless you this coming weekend.
1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you (N.L.T.)
;D
Jane, I like that--a lot!
Hi, Gord. Nice to hear you are doing well.
Mitt Romney is out of the race now........decisions, decisions. I am going to vote in our Kansas Caucus on Saturday. It's the first one in 18 years, and I have never had that privilege. I'm still praying about who to vote for, but am thinking Mike Huckabee at this point.
Laundry is all done, folded and put away...until tomorrow, anyway! :)
Hi,friends,
It's been good to read all the posts today. It was another late evening at work tonight, but when I realized that at some point my formulas didn't make sense any more, I gave up and marked where I shall begin again tomorrow.
Then came home to see my friends online again. :)
I normally don't have a low, but had stopped by Sam's Warehouse Club to shop on my way home, and put out a good bit of energy lifting a heavy "bucket" of laundry detergent.
Just as I got home, I was really trembly, so got up the steps and immediately reached for some dried dates to bring my blood sugar up. It was way down in the 50s, so no wonder I felt bad.
It usually takes several hours to get over feeling droopy and bad after one of those, but at least I didn't go unconscious. I keep a vial of the glucose tablets in my purse at all times, and then have dried dates at work and usually dried apricots at home.
I've asked for the day off a week from Friday so I can go down to Atlanta Thursday afternoon in time to let the kids go out on a "date" while the granddaughters and I have a little "date" of our own! Sure do love those young'uns! <3
Y'all have a good evening.
Hello all!! Today is Kristi's third birthday. She is so proud of herself -- she says she is a big girl now.
Funerals and the like: Around here, we have a visitation the night before, like Etta. For many of the same reasons. Now, though, many people are starting to have a visitation just before the funeral -- cuts down on costs. Cremation doesn't bother me, but not having any kind of service would. For me, the service is more of time for those who knew and loved the deceased to have some closure. A friend of mine from High School died last summer, and they had a memorial and funeral in Indianapolis (where he and his wife and two young sons lived), then a month or so later, had one here, in his home town for those that couldn't make it to the first one. I know that was probably rough on his wife and all, but in the end, she seemed to really appreciate it.
Just my thoughts. :)
Take care and everyone have a good day!
Hi everyone. Will be very brief today as have to leave in a a couple of minutes to attend a day of meetings a the Senior Center with our Learning Center volunteers and then our computer user group this afternoon.
Carol, they did give her medicine for her stomach but it may have been due to insulin that was contaminated. The pharmacy called her to tell her to bring the insulin back as it had been determined it was not good and people were getting sick.
Karmat, remember when Kristi was born. The years really fly by.
Jane, those falls are terrible and the effects can last so long. Sure glad you didn't break a bone.
Will need to leave.
Mornin' Folks!
I got up and made our healthy shake--I am making them with several kinds of fruits, add the Reliv products plus cinnamon to help Darrel's blood sugar--anyhow, I was thinking my chiropractor appointment was at 8:30. Then I thought I'd better check the calendar, and oops! It was at 8:00!! :o So I really rushed, and got there at about 8:10, but still had to wait a few minutes. Whew! Just so I didn't make him wait for me.
It's so hard to believe little Kristi is three years old already! As Larry said, how time does fly! Tell her Happy Birthday from all the Grandmas and Grandpas here on CP, and give her a hug from Grandma Janet, please, Karma. How is Nards? Tell him we miss him!
Our company wanted to sleep in the fifth wheel trailer (inside the garage) because they will have their two little dogs with them. But Darrel couldn't get the heater to light, so guess they will need to stay in the house after all. We do not mind the dogs at all, it was just their preference. They really like to bring their own 5th wheel, but what with $3.00 gasoline, not feasible for only a 3 day visit. I need to do a little cleaning this afternoon. They will get in late tonight.
I had some encouragement this week. Beth's condition is such that they needed to start using the sling lift to take her to the bathroom. She hates that lift, and she stated it in no uncertain terms, got a little ugly with the DON and the girls. I was praying she would have an "attitude adjustment" and when I was there for the tea, helping them make Valentines on Tuesday, Beth told me that she felt bad about the way she acted. S o she went to the DON's office and apologized. She said "And I looked her right in the eyes, too, because I read that if you apologize to someone and don't look them in the eyes, it looks like you don't mean it, and I did mean it." I told her I was so proud of her for doing that. She said "well, if this is the way it's going to be, I might as well be nice about it." Thank you, God.

As for the viewing/visitation at a funeral home, it is for closure for the family and friends of the deceased. I had a cousin that was cremated and only a memorial service was attended. No closure. That was my first....about 15 years ago.
My friend, Jerry, was cremated but his family did have a viewing first...just no procession to a cemetery after the funeral. His daughter has the ashes...probably still on the kitchen table!!
I called Ivalou to see if she would come cut my hair today so I would have a short haircut for Florida. To pay her we are having cornbread and beans...smells almost as good here in my house as the Pound cake smelled!!
Sometimes sunny today but it is to get colder and colder over the weekend. I am looking forward to Florida!!
I, too, can't believe Kristi is three!! >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^<

Kristi is three? My goodness! Give her a big hug from me, Karma!
We had two nights of visitation for Jack plus the afternoons as there were so many people who wanted to come and 150 were turned away at the funeral service as I had not realized that I should have had the service in a church instead of the funeral home that only sat 175 in the chapel. There were folks in every room available listening to the service and the 150 that were turned away just wouldn't fit in. It did me good to be able to meet with these folks. I don't know what it would have been like not to have this.
Hi everyone. Hows it cuttin? Enjoyed all your posts especially Jane's! Beautiful my girl. Sorry this is short but busy busy busy so i shall see you all later. God bless.
Hi Colin!
Don't trip over your own feet as you keep busy, my friend! Looking forward to another poem.
Hi everyone. I have had a busy day. after work I went to the bank came home and paid some bills on line, went to the podiatrist grocery store and gas station. Just got back from taking the dogs for their walks we walked briskly.
Tomorrow I am going to breakfast with a former client and then to the recyclers to get rid of some stuff.
The next 3-4 weeks are either going to whiz by or go very slowly. My friend is coming for a visit as soon as he gets back from England and West Africa where they are installing a pipeline. That is going to be an interesting visit. We are going to apply for my passport at that time.
Gotta go now and get my supper fixed.
Marilyn, that is quite a business place--podiatrist grocery store gas station! Get it all done in one stop, huh?
Passport? Last I knew, you didn't need a passport to go from California to Texas! Methinks an explanation is in order! (Don't get mad at me now!) ;) :)
Well, we will enjoy our nice clean house all by ourselves. Our company isn't coming. Don is sick, and their car broke down. Thank goodness it was BEFORE they left town, and not out on the road.
Pat cut and colored my hair today, so I will look nicer for the Valentine banquet tomorrow night. <3
Janet the passport is for Australia in June. By June we ought to know each other pretty well don't you think?
Yeah that was quite a shopping trip. yep all in one place. I left out all the commas didn't I. Actually it was all within a two block area. I even went to the cell phone store and the jeweler to check out watches. I need a new one. Guess I'll go check K-mart. tomorrow. Then go back to the jeweler to have the band adjusted.
Just signing in from the Sedona. Arizona area. No need to worry - I will never go mystic over anything as some do around here.
We have company coming tomorrow and then the next day but I said that there is only room enough for two at a time. Three couples this week will come and stay over - what a gabby fest this will be!
Marilyn: Australia? Woo hoo as Karma would say!
Carol
The same old same old around here at least I will not get into the story except to say I called a friend and all she did was ______ nothing was or could be right.
Earlier in the evening though I had gone to the grocery store and met a lady and we shared some really good info about cooking ideas when on a diet. It really helps to share.
Thursday a house on the main street in town here was completly destroyed and yes you can smell the smoke in the air. No one was home at the time and the cause is still unknown.
Some news I really did have. Ruth
That's awful, Ruth. So sorry to hear of a house burning down.
I heard from my friend, Gail, today that they may sell their home and move. Not good news for me as this is where my friend from Virginia stays when he comes up to Guelph. Guess we'll have to find another place for him!
I don't have a passport, Marilyn. Must apply for one. What's this about Australia?
Hi Everyone Else!
Thanks for those of you who are posting welcomes to our new folks in the Introduce Yourself area. Please continue.
Pat about Australia my friend is an engineer and has projects all over the world. right now he is on his way to England then to West Africa. He said after this the next one isn't until June and in Australia, he said from now on we will be traveling together. So he is going to get me all setup to go.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%253Cbr%2520%2F%253E%2FGoodMorningSmileys.gif&hash=6945f61fd195aaa9f4102b6a4cb556b923e6b49c)
Well, I just got my bottle gas tank filled....$$$. I wish I got raises like all the companies and businesses. I may have to find me an engineer like Marilyn has found.... ::)
Not much going on here in Indiana. Quiet day so far. Bright and sunny but cool...only 37°F. But my solar heat is running. I can't imagine how much my bottle gas bill would be if I didn't have my solar heat and my electric fireplace! (^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(

Hello everyone! We are having a Birthday party for Kristi today. I've "invited" Cinderella to come and I just found out that Cinderella may bring Princess Aurora. :) (My niece and her friend are dressing up). Kristi kinda knows, but not really.
Soooo, I've got to go fix a birthday cake (it is supposed to look like a crown when it is down -- we'll see) and get ready to go to the party (at my sister's house).
I hope you all have a wildly wonderful weekend.
Pictures, Karma! We want to see pictures! I'm kind of sad that Abby seems to have grown out of the loving Princesses stage. They are so cute all dressed up. That should be a fun party.
Marilyn, Australia has been on my "want to go" list for a long time now. Eventually we will get there, unless Jesus calls us first---which may be SOON!
Etta Sue, there may be more of those guys out there---keep your eyes open! When you say "bottle gas" is that the same as propane? We use propane, too, and it is pretty spendy. That's why we have separate heaters in various parts of the house, so we can turn the heat up or down depending on where we are.
Pat, yes, you need a passport! You surely had one years ago when you went to England and Ireland, didn't you? Or maybe one wasn't needed then from Canada.
Well, I voted in the Kansas Caucus this morning. It was a different experience. People were allowed to speak for the candidate of their choice, and there were some interesting opinions. I was sort of surprised when John McCain's name was read---the silence got really loud! :o Then someone laughed, and the whole room erupted into applause! :o Huckabee carried the Wichita area handily, and I feel he will carry all of Kansas. We are pretty conservative here. Yet we have a Democratic governor........go figure!
Pat, I am pondering today's verse. Will some of you comment on it? Not sure I understand it. Guess I need to go read it in context.
Carol, thanks for checking in. We miss you when you don't, so it's good to hear from you.
I'm invited to some kind of a jewelry party this afternoon, then the Valentine Banquet is tonight. And in the morning, Darrel and I and a few others are cooking breakfast for the whole church.
See you later!
Hi everyone. Just finishing up my lunch. We had an extended coffee time at the cafe this morning as no one seemed to be in a hurry. I was home for a short time and then gone the rest of the morning to a meeting I attend on Saturday mornings. The rest of the day is clear as far as I know.
Yesterday afternoon I went shopping on the Internet. Pat finally decided on the vacuum cleaner she wanted after seeing the ranking in Consumer Report. We didn't want to spend several hundred dollars and the Hoover we ordered was number 6 on the list in their ratings among some much more expensive ones. Then we decided rather than try to get our microwave repaired that we would get a small one that is counter-top. Just to get the repair people here would cost as much as the new Sharp microwave and then there are always parts to buy and probably a computer board, which is never inexpensive. So I ordered one. I did both purchases through Amazon and the items should be here next week. We are getting the exact same microwave we gave our daughter for her birthday and which she really lives. We just use ours to reheat things and to pop popcorn and really don't do any significant cooking in it so didn't need a big one.
Our daughter is here for the weekend. She took the bus out to the town just south of us so it wasn't the two hour trip that is usually involved to go get her. However, I will have to take her home tomorrow afternoon so she can get ready to start her job at the IRS on Monday. She has three days of refresher training (as worked there last year) and then starts full-time work. We are praying that her health holds together enough to allow her to work without interruption this year.
I feel a nap coming on so am not going to make individual comments today other than a couple.
The first is to say I hope Kristi really enjoys her special party. It sounds neat for a little girl. Secondly Janet, the thought occurred to me that the situation with Beth worked out and you didn't have to try to "fix it". We have found over the last few months if we get out of the way God provides and very unexpected and wonderful things happen. I am glad you don't have to be concerned about this and it sounds like Beth handled it very well.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Yes, Larry, you are so right! And I told Beth that I'm so proud of her for what she did. I have been trying to get out of the way and allow God to work with Beth, without input from Mom. Not always easy, when she is struggling so hard. :-\
Well, Marilyn, that's very interesting. I do hope you are being very careful. (Like old mother speaking here). You have to meet several times before the future can be considered! :)
Janet, we'll leave the explaining of that verse today to Al! Or anyone who wishes to take it on. I believe we'd have to go back to Habakkuk for sure and read the whole chapter. And yes, we had to have our passports for travel to the UK but mine has been out of date for years now.
Snow, snow!
I'm going to share my post from my blog in here for you all.
I'll be back to do that.
:groupwave:  :groupwave:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTI!!
Mother Hen, we are working on that, moving slow waiting on God, well maybe not that slow. It will be 6 months by the time June rolls around. 0:-)
Today's Verse
Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!
Habakkuk 2:9
Well Pat got me going by saying she'd leave it to Al!
The Neo-Babylonians were taking over the near-eastern nations, and they were acting arrogantly. Hab. 2:9 is a prediction of the king of judgement these idolaters would experience because of their pride.
The Neo-Babylonians coveted all the wealth of Israel, thinking that their wealth and power would then make them safe from all disaster. But, through Habakkuk predicts that it won't happen - that they won't really be safe, no matter how wealthy and powerful they might be. They "sin against their souls, and the stone will cry out from the wall, and the beam from the timbers will answer it." The truth about them, in other words, will reverberate throughout their dominions, and doom will come upon them in the end - judgement for each and every sin they've committed.
It's a picture of the world today, is it not? They don't believe there is a sovereign God, but in actuality every sin is being written down, and thorough judgement will come because of it.
Pat: We have a bed at our house that Paul could use but the best solution would be to get married.
Yes snow and more snow even today. I have been doing some if I do not need it then give away idea it sure has a good feeling as we will be putting a box of items together for the mail.
Kristi: Have a Happy Birthday
Al: Thanks for your explanation of todays verse.

I know one or two have been looking some more poems so I thought why not let you hear them along with beautiful scenery. So watch this space...well some other space later!
Have a blessed day...Colin <3
Hi everyone. It is another beautiful day here in Georgia and is Senior Sunday at our church. The seniors fill the choir loft for the special music and then following the service we are provided a special valentine's meal and lovely entertainment. This year we are again have the Georgia Classic Club, which are a group of very talented ladies who have competed in the Mrs. Georgia Contest, which is a state-wide competition. We have two ladies in our congregation who have won this title and served a year each. They put on a show using their talents to sing or dance either individually or in a group. We have seen them twice before and very enjoyable.
Later this afternoon I will take our daughter back to her apartment and that will be enough for one day.
Colin, nice to see you posting this morning.
Ruth, I spoke with my sister in Northern Iowa and she said they had had snow all day long and it was suppose to be zero last night. Of course, I had to tell her how warm it was down here.
Al, thanks for that explanation. It certainly brought meaning to the verse.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.
Good Morning to all. Today I will be doing the announcements as well as all my other jobs at the church. Our Pastor has gone to Phoenix to Pastor Barnett's church for Pastor school along with our Women's Ministry leader and one of the Deacons. So the Associate pastor is taking over the service, he is also the worship leader, he called me last evening to ask me to do the announcements and wanted to know if I had access to the Pastor's laptop to do the PowerPoint for the songs this morning. I don't have access to his laptop although I do have his power point program on my computer. Our projector for the computer at the church need a new bulb which costs $450.00. So I can't put the songs into the computer at the church. So we will be without the songs this morning.
Al thank you so much to the explanation of yesterday's scripture. what a revelation I didn't know it meant so much. Sometimes the biblical language can be so obscure in the real meanings. :(
I see Huckabee won Kansas. Wow this election is getting so interesting.
This has been a long work week, I have put in over 40 hours and talk about tired!!. Those who know me well know that if they call up to midnight I will be up and the call is no problem. Well this week I have been in and asleep by 10:00 pm and not awake till 7:30 am. The hours are taking their toll.
Today I have a shower to go to. Melaura who hasn't been living at home for over a year is expecting in March around the 15th. One of the ladies in the church is hosting a shower for her. When she left home she quit going to church and has not returned. Pray that the Lord woos her back.
Well I have to shower and change so I am off and going yet again.
Have a good Lord's Day everyone.
