Morning Devotional...
Verse
Let the wicked forsake his way / and the evil man his thoughts. / Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, / and to our God, for he will freely pardon. Isaiah 55:7It is time for us to repent, for our transgressions against the blessed Third Person have been many and much aggravated. We have bitterly mistreated Him in the house of His friends. We have crucified Him in His own temple as they crucified the Eternal Son on the hill above Jerusalem. And the nails we used were not of iron, but of the finer and more precious stuff of which human life is made. Out of our hearts we took the refined metals of will and feeling and thought, and from them we fashioned the nails of suspicion and rebellion and neglect. By unworthy thoughts about Him and unfriendly attitudes toward Him we grieved and quenched Him days without end.
The truest and most acceptable repentance is to reverse the acts and attitudes of which we repent. A thousand years of remorse over a wrong act would not please God as much as a change of conduct and a reformed life. "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and. he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."
We can best repent our neglect by neglecting Him no more. Let us begin to think of Him as One to be worshiped and obeyed. Let us throw open every door and invite Him in. Let us surrender to Him every room in the temple of our hearts and insist that He enter and occupy as Lord and Master within His own dwelling. And let us remember that He is drawn to the sweet Name of Jesus as bees are drawn to the fragrance of clover. Where Christ is honored the Spirit is sure to feel welcome; where Christ is glorified He will move about freely, pleased and at home.
Thought
A thousand years of remorse over a wrong act would not please God as much as a change of conduct and a reformed life.
Prayer
We repent, Holy Spirit, of our transgressions against You. Forgive us, and come once again to dwell inside us.From Devotions By Dr. Tozer
Thanks for those words from Dr. Tozer this morning, Don. They really spoke to my heart. There are days I struggle to feel that sweet closeness to the Lord and His precious Holy Spirit. It always helps me to think of the great love God, Jesus and Holy Spirit have demonstrated to us and for us. Praise God!
I feel better this morning, after a restless night, but am debating with myself as to whether or not I should attend church this morning. I really want to go, it feels like ages since I have been with my church family. But I don't want to spread any germs nor take a chance of getting worse. What to do? What to do? :-\
Hot tea hits the spot this morning! :)
Larry, have a pleasant and restful day today!
We attended the Saturday night service here and one of the first things in the service is the Confession and Forgiveness which is so comforting. My 2nd. cousin is a member of this church but I am sure they attend on Sunday morning - we chose the Sat. night just for Don's hearing problem and good that we did because their hearing apprentice wasn't working well. Very impressed with the pastor and and the church is benevolent in so many ways that it is gratifying to see where their gifts are sent.
This week, we took a friend for coffee and visit. She lost her husband last year and only son a few years ago and stopped going to church. Carefully treading on the subject of church and slowly mentioning a few things.
It is a mild day here in Tucson and warm enough to sit outdoors this afternoon but Don will check on games.
Hi, friends,
Larry, to make it worse, I've learned that Dell itself markets supplies - no retail store can do so. Thus, I'll be forced to order on line. :(
Janet, I trust you'll be feeling better really soon.
Carol, it breaks my heart when I hear of someone who blames God for a person's death. God is our source of comfort and strength, especially when He sends His Comforter to be with us in times of mourning and personal pain.
Y'all have a good rest of the day.
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. It has been a cold and overcast day here in Georgia with rain expected tonight. We did attend church this morning and then out to lunch with six of our friends. I came home and turned on the game as I lay down and watched a little football and took a couple of nice naps under my warm coverings. Before church I prepare to scale representations of our furniture so we can place them in the rooms and get an idea of space and layout. I will pack some books in Pat's office and that will be it for today.
Don, thanks for the devotional thoughts for this week.
Janet, I am sure you made the right decision this morning on attending church or not. You sure want to stay well.
Carol, glad you found a church where Don will be able to hear. I hope the games are turning out as Don wants them. It was a good game this afternoon.
Ruth Ann, sorry about the ink situation. Do you have any remanufactured computer ink stores in Nashville that would be close?
Thanks for sharing the Tozer devotional, Don. His messages remain as pertinent today as the day he penned them.
I will be back on the road (in the air, actually) this week, for the first time since my daughter's accident. Heading to TX for a few days, and praying that I can focus on my job and glorify the Father while doing so.
May His presence and blessings be with each of us during this coming week!
It is well,
Ken
Go with God, Ken, and may he bless you real good!
Larry, we did go to church yesterday, with no apparent harm. I am feeling better each day, still taking the C and Zinc! My daughter Diane just called to tell me she is very ill and headed up here to see a doctor. She is scheduled to drive to Dallas tomorrow, and that's not much time for recovery! Prayers would be so appreciated!
I did go to the gym today but took it easier, as I don't feel quite up to par yet. But Kristi showed me some stretches which really helped my lower back.
We have a really cold breeze blowing today.
Ken, I will think of you and send up a prayer for you and your family.
As for my friend, I haven't heard her blaming God - perhaps it is just that she doesn't feel that she can hold her composure. We have had some good conversations and I am not sure that her church here is very helpful. She hasn't gone to them seeking their comfort either so we are just good friends available to meet about 3 times a week - not too much - and just "be here" for her. We have another friend who just lost his wife about two months ago & he is staying pretty low at home too.
Hi everyone. Just a quick check in as this has been a very busy day. I worked on packing this morning and at noon I was treated to a great lunch with a great group of friends from my McDonald's and Friday morning coffee group. I think all active members of both groups were there as we had 17 total, including our honorary member, Ellen, who take such good care of us at McDonalds. Her husband is a member of our groups since he retired. I sure am going to miss these guys. I think there are only three of the original group still living or still in this area since we started all this 18 1/2 years ago. I have my final meeting tonight with my Monday night group.
I am quickly reading over the postings and will only make brief, if any comments today as time is limited. The days are flying by.
Another really cold day today, Everyone was surprised that buses weren't pulled. We are staying warm though lots of wood for the fire. I am not going outside, and that is for sure. Even the dogs run out do their jobs and race back to the door. This deep cold is supposed to lift later this week.
Larry looks like you are making progress in the moving preparations. Just make sure you and Pat don't overdo it. let the younger folks do more.
Ken thinking of you as you make the trip south.
Have a great day everyone.
Really frigid here, too. At 10:00 a.m it's right at zero - that's F or about -17C. May get up to 20F ( -6C) tomorrow and maybe even above freezing by the weekend. [attachimg=1]
Pretty quiet in here today! I was invited to be a guest at the local Rotary Club, so I went. Now catching up here, then to finish my packing, double-checking several lists.
It's cold here, too, but not as cold as where Judy or Jeanne lives!
Hi, friends,
Well the ink for my printer arrived well ahead of schedule, thank goodness. And, now I'm waiting for the proper tubing for the new CPAP machine. Then, waiting for the delivery person will drop off to nothing again, methinks! :)
I'm so thankful the lady doesn't seem to be blaming God for her loss, Carol.
I agree with Janet, try not to overdo it, Larry.
I'm thankful you're in and safe, Judy, and trust that John made it through the day all right.
Ken, I'll be thinking of you and praying for strength and wisdom for you.
Much love to all who come here.
Ruth Ann
I will be practicing my song this weekend with the band, We have two great guitar players. It is them I will be practicing with, actually we will all be learning my song That I will be singing solo as a special.
Marilyn, how I would love to be able to hear that practice and the final result!
And now, I'm still fuming after a phone call to the propane company. After letting me run out twice within 11 months they offered me a big $25 credit on the $600+ delivery. :ticked: And when I asked about the next scheduled delivery I found it wasn't until February 12!!! I'm afraid I was not very Christian in my handling of things, but I did get the next delivery changed to January 23 and the credit increased at least to $50. I let her know that I would certainly make a recommendation about their company to anyone that asks - that it should be avoided like the plague.
Hi everyone on a chilly, cloudy day. This is a very busy day with calls and beginning to finish up rooms for moving. So a brief message today.
Jeanne we are going to record/video the final result and I will try to post that online.
Good to read all of your messages today. I had a tough night, the cold was worse. But after a good prayer session, I felt better, and we did go to Garden to gather the final things needed for our trip. Now I am thinking a nap is the next order of business. Sometimes REST if the best medicine!
Janet, rest is great medicine but you need to be pretty much over a cold before taking another long trip. I hope that you have enough time to really recuperate.
So do I, Carol! But we must leave on Monday! I have been fighting this thing off for a week now! AND I WILL WIN!!
Hi everyone on a chilly Thursday morning. I woke up about 12:30 this morning and was never able to go to sleep as couldn't turn my mind off. I have very little time today for posting so will just check in and then read the postings. We are headed to North Augusta this morning for our final walk thru of the house and then be at closing at 1pm. I have to get to the credit union this morning to get a cashier's check for our down payment and closing costs. We are taking both cars this morning and we will leave the Cruiser locked in the garage of our new home. I have it loaded up with items that wouldn't pack very well.
God bless you on your move Larry. I pray it is peaceful and you enjoy the new house.
Phil #:10b-11 but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
When I read your post these verses came to mind. God Bless you dear friend!
Larry, I pray every phase of your move is peaceful, easy and calm, and that you and Pat will love your new home! God bless you, for you ARE a blessing!
Hi, friends,
Marilyn, I hope things go really well with the song and your accompanists.
Feel better, Janet. Did y'all buy trip insurance just in case? I hope so.
Carol, good to hear from you today.
Larry, try to stay as up to date on your rest as possible. It's amazing what those Cruisers can hold when the seats are folded down. :)
Judy, I really like that quote from the Bible.
May our Lord bless each of you who come here today.
Ruth Ann
:) Good evening to all Again I am sorry that I have not been here on C.P. It just seems that life is busy going to doctors for both Noreen and I and then helping to look after the grand kid's and that part we love.
Larry and Pat it has been a while and I did not know that you are moving but I do hope that all goes well and that you both do not overdo it. :coffee:
Noreen still does not have her new knee and we do not have any date for whatever they are going to do. We will still value everyone's prayer's :) Well May the Lord give you all at C. P. a wonderful weekend and God's richest blessing's to all. Love in Christ. Gordon and Noreen. :cp: :nanadance:
Yes, Ruth Ann, whenever we travel outside the U.S. we always buy the trip insurance! Thanks for thinking of us!
Marilyn, I will look forward to hearing (or hearing and seeing) you perform your solo, too. Hope it goes flawlessly.
We learned today that Darrel's older brother, Don, is in a hospice facility--then later, another call saying he had fallen there and been taken to a hospital, but nothing was broken and he would likely go back to the Hospice place later today. It doesn't sound good for him. Don doesn't know the Lord, and has rebuffed any attempts of mine and others through the years to talk to him about God. I do continue to pray that he will open his heart and receive Jesus before it is forever too late. Please pray for Don. The thought of anyone, much less a loved one, going to hell is more than I can bear to contemplate.
Toni and the two younger girls came by for a visit, so good to see them. Toni is better, but really needed a chiropractic adjustment following her car accident. That's why they were in town. God is so wonderful in the ways He protects all of us.
It's a glorious day here today! Up in the 60s and NO wind! Woo-hoo! And yes, I am feeling almost over that stinky cold, PTL!
My thoughts are with you all this morning. How special it is to come in here and read the notes of those who care about others.
Pretty quiet in here this early morning! I am going to a ladies' meeting in Garden City today, hope to receive more wonderful things from the Lord, and have the opportunity to minister to those He puts in my path. :)
Another praise report! John was in a car accident: A big SUV ran a red light and T-boned his little Kia, pushing him across the sidewalk and almost into the stores along the street! He walked away without a scratch on him, and the SUV driver was taken away on a stretcher. John gives the Lord the glory, and says he knows God protected him. Even though his car was totaled, he said the inside didn't even buckle! He will take photos and send them to me, as he wants Beth to see the results of God's mighty hand of protection! Praise God!!
I imagine Larry is in the midst of his move, and I pray God's strength and protection over him and Pat each day.
Pat Scott, where are you??
Carol, good to see you pop in and greet us!
Jane, we need another update on your daughter. Prayers continue......
Hello to Judy and John, Gord, Marilyn, and all of you who haven't been in for a while. I hope life is treating you well and we will be seeing you posting soon!
Gotta run!
Janet, you had me guessing for a second - "Another praise report, John was in an accident..." Didn't seem to compute. Then I read the praise part and I certainly join in that praise of our ever faithful Father.
Hi everyone. Just a quick check in today to say all is well. We did close on our new home and now in the final stages of packing up for the movers to be here Monday morning. In all likelihood I will not be posting again until after the move is completed so please don't worry about me if I don't post for a few days.
Glad to hear you got through the closing process, Larry. Hopefully the move goes smoothly and you get settled without too much hassle.
Jeanne, I thought the same thing when I read Janet's report of the accident...glad John's outcome was so good!
Gord, it is good seeing you here again - you've been missed :) What is the hold-up on Noreen's knee replacement? Would really like to offer specific prayer, if you are able to share more details.
Thanks all for the prayers for me as I hit the road this past week. Overall it went well, but still have a difficult time staying focused for a prolonged period of time. Heading to MN this coming week, so I will have opportunity to practice. And God's grace will suffice!
Hope everyone has a blessed weekend, and may His Word touch each of us daily.
It is well,
Ken
Hi, friends,
It's so nice to come here and get caught up on the happenings within our group. Like a silly old woman, I watched a movie from the 1940s late last night, so finally went to sleep in the middle of the night. Oh, dear, how difficult it was to get myself moving today.
I'm to eat dinner tonight with my colleague and his wife. He's the one who asked me to do a couple of projects recently. So, I'm looking forward to seeing them again.
The weather is, I suppose, our January thaw. Sometime during the middle of January we normally have a warm streak where our weather is in the 50s Fahrenheit. So I'm debating about the amount of winter weather gear I should take tonight. :)
What wonderful news about the miraculous protections provided by our Lord for John. What a blessing to be able to report this to Beth!
Ken, you were supported in prayer as you traveled last week. It truly is difficult to focus on the present when we are grieving. I know - I've had to do much the same thing.
Larry, best wishes for the move. We'll be praying for you and your wife during this upheaval in your lives.
Gord, Carole, Jane, Pat, Judy, Marilyn, and others, we love each of you and pray for you as you come to mind.
May our Lord bless us every one today.
Ruth Ann
Good Evening everyone, It id god to see your postings. It has been raining here pretty much all day with some pretty fair wind gusts too. We went to Walmart this morning, I've shampooed my hair and now dinner is in the oven, we are having Taco flavored turkey Meatloaf, Cornbread stuffing, and Green beans.
I didn't have music practice today as I am not singing tomorrow but I am next Sunday so on Saturday I will be at practice. Today at practice they are learning the melody to my song. I am doing Amazing Grace to the melody of House of the Rising Sun. I had to get on YouTube to find it in a key low enough for me and yet not too low. I thing around E minor or perhaps it was D minor. I didn't try to play it on our little organ. I m not that good at that although I can chord if I have to.
Pat has been busy getting a gas furnace in.....She will be back soon!
It has been snowing and windy all day today. To be expected, it IS winter. I was thinking about posting a picture for you all to see, but I don't have my puter to be able to resize it..... Hopefully I will get it back soon!
Have a great Lords day everyone.
:) Hi to all. Larry it was so good to talk to you on the phone the other day.. Again may the Lord be with you and give you safety on your drive to your new place and also the strength to unpack. Please do take your time unpacking and do stop for a break when needed. God be with you.
Janet I do hope that you have a fantastic trip when you leave and stay safe. :coffee:
Hi PAT AGAIN WHERE ARE YOU BIG SIS.
to all others on C.P. please still pray for both of us as Noreen still does not have a date with the surgeon to find out what they are going to do about putting her new knee. This April this whole ordeal Will be 2 years and who knows when it will finish but I do know that the Lord will give us the strength to continue and he also knows when it will stop..
May the Lord give you all a wonderful day tomorrow in the company of his church. God's richest blessing's. Gordon and Noreen. :) :cp: :pine: :bananadance:
Let's bring our prayers, praises and thoughts into a new week HERE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=13232.msg187922#msg187922)
