JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Well another day.  Yes, this is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!

I have had Cimi sick over the last few days.  Stomach unsettled and the trotts.  I have given her some tuna flavoured rice, as her tummy is empty and hopefully that will have her on the way to being her happy healthy self.  If dogs could get the flu' I would say that was the problem.

John is picking up in Georgia today and heading home.  He won't be home till late Saturday night.  Then they expect him to turn around and be back out in 36 hours, the legal turnaround for the log books.  He is tired and I hope he is determined to take the full 48 so he can get rested.

Well I am off, I have to work today and have a few things to accomplish first.

Bye for now and God Bless.

Janet

February 1--my youngest daughter's birthday!  And, as usual, it sneaked up on me!  I don't understand why I have trouble remembering her birthday in time to get a card sent to arrive in time.  I will send her an e-card and then a homemade birthday card, call her this evening.  Hope that will make amends.

I must go to the care home.  They are having some issues with Beth, and both she and they are unhappy about it.  Pray that I can be the ambassador to smooth things out.  If they involuntarily dismissed her from there, I have no idea what we would do!  :'(

We will soon have the opportunity to bid on installing security cameras in all four of our schools here.  Would you please pray we get the bid?  It would give our company a huge boost, and I truly feel Darrel is by far the best and most knowledgable person to do the job---not to mention the only local one, which should be a consideration.

I must be at it!

Hi everyone.  We had a lovely rain all night, about 1 1/2 inches and it has cleared off now.  We didn't have too many men turn out for the coffee a the local Senior Center this morning.  This evening we are going out with two other couples from our church and then they are coming here and we will play a game involving dominos.  We will eat early as one of the ladies has had a stroke and gets tired easily and so they don't stay out very late.

Janet, certainly hope you and Darrel have the successful bid at the school.  I am sure that would be a big job.

Judy, at least John didn't have any snow to deal with here in Georgia but it doesn't sound too good heading back up to Canada.  I see that Chicago is in the midst of a snow storm and that it is moving East.

Ruth Ann, you were wise not to risk getting caught out in bad weather.  Glad you had no problem on the roads.

Al, I haven't heard anything about that party here in Georgia.  We do have an Independent party but they are certainly at the edge.

Marilyn, glad you enjoyed your party at the church.

Etta Sue, one of my coffee drinking buddies is 85 years old and there are periods of time it seems like he is attending 2 or 3 funerals a week.  He grew up around here and this used to be such a small community that people knew each other.  One of our coffee buddies lost his wife a few weeks ago from cancer.  Their son is our landscape man and keeps our yard.

Hi Ruth, Carol and all who stop by today.

Etta Sue

Thank God....the prediction of up to 10" of snow over night did NOT pan out.  It snowed but I can still see blades of grass through the snow.  Snowing right now but not heavy.  A salt truck salted our road just before Ivalou and I got home from the funeral home last evening.  Ivalou just called and said that when she went out to get the paper, the snow plow had already been down our road.  The county I live in is excellent in keeping the roads opened....not so in the county east of us.  If I can get out of my drive, I can get about anywhere!

Unlike Marilyn, I attend visitation and only family funerals.  I am way too emotional at funerals.  When I see someone else crying, I cry, too.  I do believe I tear up at least once a day...if I watch any TV.  I cry when I am sad, when I am happy!  Even reading some emails!!

Not much to shout about today.  Snow and 30°F.  Was warmer earlier because I saw water drips from an eave on the north side of my house.  Sun was shining earlier but not now.  Good day to stay in!

Can you believe 1/12th of 2008 is over??

I left a comment, Pat.  I know you are a really kind and caring friend because (1) I know you, and (2) it shows in the loving words you wrote in his tribute.

I'm sorry you never got to meet with them in person, but I know they appreciate your friendship and caring contact.

Thank you so much, Jane.  I haven't checked yet as I just got home late last night but I know that this will be lovely for Sue to read.  The funeral services in Georgia are today.

I hope that many more leave a comment.

Last evening we practiced for the first time a most beautiful anthem called "Waiting" by Pepper Choplin.  I just now did a websearch and found his website and there is an mp3 of the entire piece.  Here is the link and just scroll down to the Release in 2007 and on down the list and click on "Waiting" to hear it.  http://www.pepperchoplin.com/anthems.html  I don't think you will be disappointed as the words are wonderful and the music is great.

Larry, that is beautiful!  I have it playing now as I type.  Thanks for the link!

Pat, I was really impressed with the anthem.  I played several more that he has written that were downloadable from that same site and this was my favorite.

Nice Day here on the island.  No Rain ;D

Yest. the kids had the kitchen countertops and today the taps, installed.  Wow!  They got the new Quartz countertops as it does not ever have to be resealed, like the granite ones.  Also, it seems there are problems with Granite tops....This is harder, even more beautiful.  I stand amazed...No.  Will not be done here as I put in nice tops...tho' they are going to put new countertops and taps, plus water saving toilets, in all the three bathrooms.  So the horror of changes has begun and my kitchen has become a sort of short order food stop.

I have new lights in the bathroom and now all my wrinkles show up real well!!!  I am going to get a dimmer switch installed when he comes back.  Won't change the wrinkles, will do wonders for my morale ;)

Watching the debates on TV sure makes me wonder about the future.  Glad it is not my duty to vote in your election.  Tho' certainly no better choices in my country.  Since our two countries are so closely linked, what happens across the border surely does have an impact on us...Guess you all know that our country is inviting Mexican folk to come here and live and work.  Some interesting things on the internet that rarely ever make the papers!

Read this today in New Scientist Magazine:

FEMALE sperm", "male eggs" and "same-sex reproduction" - whether these terms fill you with hope or disgust, a reproductive revolution is already in progress. In a handful of labs across the world, biologists are trying to make genetically male cells develop into eggs, and female cells into sperm. If successful, their efforts might one day allow lesbian and gay couples to have children that are genetically their own.  :-X  :'(

Guess cloning animals and now humans, is not enough of a challenge.  Sure glad we know the end of the Book.  :)

Well, now that I have ranted a little, will go back to my laundry.  Glad that God is in control of this strange new world and we really can rest in that 'one sure thing' that is left from the past.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Goodness, Liz!  How horrible to read of those awful experiments.  But, as you said, God is in control, and I do not believe He will allow their efforts to come to fruition.  I truly believe we are living in the last of the last days!  When I consider the field of candidates for this election, it makes me wonder, "Where have all the heroes gone?"

Pat, welcome home!  Was everything fine at your place when you got there?

Pat and I got the Valentine kits finished for the care home ladies this afternoon.  That was quite a chore!  On Tuesday, we will help them assemble them at the ladies' tea.

Beth's little refrigerator has quit.  That means we need to buy her another one, but will have to go out of town to find one.  We can get one at Sam's when we go to Amarillo on the 11th, but she will really miss it in the meantime.  Maybe we should just make a special trip and get her one sooner, in Garden or Liberal.  Always something!

I missed Kerri when I called to wish her a happy birthday, but I did leave her a message.  Does that count? ^-^

Janet, all was well.  The cat really missed me and hasn't left my side since I got home.  Geordie is just home now.  He had a great time with lots and lots of walks.

Hi, friends,

It's so late, my eyes are trying to close, but I wanted to tell you that something I was really worried about is no longer a worry. Ahhhh, what a relief!

Also, I'll probably be scheduled shortly for a bit of surgery to remove a cyst on my left hand. Will fill y'all in on the details when I know them myself.

It was great this evening to have dinner and a long friendly chat with christian friends from my church.

And, then, I dropped by the hotel where my brother is staying tonight to leave a nice photo of me that was taken for our church directory and instead of leaving it at the desk, I thought I heard someone calling "Ruth Ann, Ruth Ann." So, I turned around, and there he sat at his laptop, making use of the stronger wireless signal down in the lobby, so I actually got to see him, we talked about an hour, and exchanged hugs - such an unexpected treat!

G'nite, friends.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

I can't believe they are experimenting with sperms and eggs so same sex could have their own genetic children.  Sickening!

This is on the news today here in Indiana.  I am wondering if this is a way to deport some illegal aliens... ???

QuoteINDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has found discrepancies in some of its records that could cost up to 56,000 people their driver's licenses. Another 35,000 who have identification cards but not licenses will receive warning notices.

The BMV started a verification project in November that involved matching its records with a Social Security Administration database. It checked more than 6 million records and found 206,000 cases where its data didn't match the Social Security information.

Since then, about 82,000 people have verified their information, and another 33,000 cases have been resolved.

BMV spokesman Dennis Rosebrough says most of the mismatches were inadvertent, created by typographical errors or people getting married and changing their last names.

Bright and sunny right now.  So the groundhog saw his shadow...six more weeks of winter!  My solar heat is running....that's good.  Kitty said the roads are slick....in her county but in my county they are clear and dry!!

Need to do some cleaning today!!

Hello Everyone!

Another week is nearly over.  My how time flies!

We had so much snow here.  I see the fellow next door is out snowblowing the driveway again.  It's so nice.  I will only have to dig my path up to the doorway.

Hi everyone.  We are just back from a meeting we attend on Saturday morning.  Last evening we had a great time with friends.  We met at 4 pm at a Mexican restruarant but the meal wasn't very good.  The other two couples then came to our home and we played Mexican Train with dominos.  Our dominos are double twelves so we played for over 3 hours to get through the entire game.  It was after 10 pm before everyone left and I think we were all exhausted.  I went to bed immediately and didn't want to get up this morning.  I am looking forward to a nice nap this afternoon as soon as I finish my lunch.  Fortunately we don't have to go anywhere else today so will be able to have a quiet afternoon and evening.

Ruth Ann, glad you were able to see your brother and get that hugs.  Hugs are important and help to make people feel better.

Etta Sue, our State is also beginning to put some curbs on illegals and we are seeing it very much in our county.  Many of the jobs they were doing have dried up due to the housing industry problems and the drought, which has eliminated many landscaping jobs.  I read recently that cities officals across the border in Mexico are coming to the USA to complain about all the illegals that are returning to their own country and the inability of the cities to deal with them.  They seem to have the idea that it is the USA's fault that they are having problems dealing with their own countries citizens.  It is a strange world we live in.

Janet, I am sure the loss of Beth's refrigerator is very serious to her.  Sorry to hear that she is having difficulty a the Home.  I understand your feelings about what would you do if they didn't allow her to stay there.  We faced the same situation with my mother when they treatened us if we didn't allow them to highly medicate her we would have to move her to a different home.  Sometimes there are no good alternatives.

Marilyn, keep praying for your son and his family and I know you will.  I have seen God working so much with my family this last year and know it was God's working and not anything I was able to do.

Liz, the article you referened is really alarming.  God created us he wanted us to be and we shouldn't attempt to be God.  The countertop sounds wonderful.  I don't think I have ever seen any made from that stone.

Ruth, glad the storm is hitting on the weekend rather than when you have to be out driving.  We are suppose to get to 60 degrees today and later next week up to 70.

Pat

Hi Larry

Sounds like you had a great time with Mexican Train.  I've never heard of that game at all!

Good Morning, I have been working on  getting some things straightened out in my computer and still have some stuff to put on CD to free up more space and speed up my computer.

I have also been cleaning house and still have the living room/office to do.

Pat did you kennel Geordie or was he with friends/family? I have a neighbor who takes care of mine if I should have to go someplace, he cares of them with I have to work a long shift. That way they can stay at home and he comes over several times a day. I don't think he takes them for walks though, he might if I was gone for a few days maybe.

Well back to the house now.

Light Snow today.  BRR
I am sitting here freezing because the Tile Guy has my door open and is replacing three tiles that cracked from the shaking going on due to new building.  Now I am shaking....he should finish soon.  More houses going up....looks like two more streets in back of us..... ::)

Went to the gallery and looked at photo's...sure lots of nice pictures.  Will try to comment next time...Most impressive!  Have not taken any pictures for some time, come Spring will try to get busy again.  My granddaughter has taken some of our visiting three Anna's Hummingbirds.  Sat and had coffee with my daughter this morning and watched them feeding, also the squirrels, plus other assorted wild birds.  This place is really a little bit of heaven and I feel most grateful to be able to have a share in God's beauty.

I hadn't ever seen Quartz countertops either, Larry.  The kids inherited a little money from relatives the past while and have decided to use it to protect their investment in the house.  Everyone here wants only the best now, so this is necessary for both resale and to help my daughter cope with her disabilty.  Their kitchen cabinets are high end, the countertops were mediocre and so now things match....At some point they will have to scale down as both are in their 50's now and health will be an issue. So the house will be good for a number of yrs. after this update and still maintain it's value.  Much better than blowing things on holidays or waiting to update, as costs keeps increasing.  As does everything.....!

I think the noise has stopped, so hopefully he is nearly finished.  Of course, Misty is hiding outside somewhere....may not see her for quite awhile as she gets so scared.  Every morning I lecture her about leaving the squirrels, birds, etc. alone and staying in the garden.  Ah, the joys that come from having a pet ;)

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

I'm home, after a quite long day.  We drove to Liberal and bought a new refrigerator for Beth, stopping to pick up Abby on the way.  We looked again for roller skates, again found only really small ones.  Stopped to visit a little with Diane when we came back through their town and dropped Abby off.

We went to the Home, cleaned out (and off!) Beth's refrigerator, which had begun running again, then stopped again.  Got the new one situated, plugged it in---and it wouldn't run!  So Darrel checked things out, and what do you know?  It was the darned outlet!  We were able, barely, to reach another one with the cord, got it plugged in, running, put her food back in, pictures back on the door, etc.  So that's done.  We brought the other one home, will keep it until after family reunion, then give it back to Jeff if he wants it--don't think he does.

Anybody care to say which team you are rooting for tomorrow in the Super Bowl?  I really don't care, was happy to hear interviews with players from both teams who are dedicated Christians.

Ruth Ann, so glad to read the good news about your dry issue, also about your visit with your brother.

Time to go eat a salad!

Until Then

(Click to hear music)

Words and music by Stuart Hamblen

My heart can sing when I pause to remember
A heartache here is but a stepping stone
Along a trail that's winding always upward,
This troubled world is not my final home.

Chorus
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there, will only bring a smile.

Chorus
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

This weary world with all its toil and struggle
May take its toll of misery and strife:
The soul of man is like a waiting falcon--
When it's released, it's destined for the skies.

Chorus:
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

We had a sale at work called "Super Bolt Saturday"  It gave the ladies time to buy fabric at a sale price so they can sew while the hubby's watch the "super bowl"!

I have found my dream sewing machine.  Unfortunately it is and will be only a dream.  It is $8999.00.  It is an embroidery machine and can do anything you ask it to do.  Connect it to the computer and download a picture of your grandchild and the machine will embroider it!  It is nice to dream.

I am on Praise team tomorrow, Kassie is singing and I am on overheads.  I do so enjoy doing that.  Melanie our pastor's wife is leading.

On the way home I was singing the old hymn Day bay Day and with each passing moment,  Pat?

Well I am off will be back later.

Samantha

JudyB, our God is big enough to provide you with that sewing machine.  If you really want it. I'll agree with you in Jesus name and pray that it will come to pass.  With all the sewing you do, it's not like its a silly want.  I'm sure it would provide you many years of good and profitable use.  My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory!  Praise the Lord!  I would like something like that, but I would not use it much after I got it. (Which is why I don't have one!!)

Just my two cents.

Have a great evening y'all! :D

Day By Day
(Click to hear music)

Words by Lina Berg
Music by Oscar Ahnfelt

Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best
Lovingly, it's part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and with rest.

Ev'ry day the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He whose name is Counselor and Pow'r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
This the pledge to me He hath made.

Help me then in ev'ry tribulation
So to trust thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith's sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy Holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
'Til I reach the blessed, promised land.
