Morning Devotional...

Jesus Tells about the Wedding Feasts
Matthew 22:1-14 NLT

Jesus also told them other parables. He said,  "The Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a king who prepared a great wedding feast for his son.  When the banquet was ready, he sent his servants to notify those who were invited. But they all refused to come!

"So he sent other servants to tell them, 'The feast has been prepared. The bulls and fattened cattle have been killed, and everything is ready. Come to the banquet!'  But the guests he had invited ignored them and went their own way, one to his farm, another to his business.  Others seized his messengers and insulted them and killed them.

"The king was furious, and he sent out his army to destroy the murderers and burn their town.  And he said to his servants, 'The wedding feast is ready, and the guests I invited aren't worthy of the honor.  Now go out to the street corners and invite everyone you see.'  So the servants brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike, and the banquet hall was filled with guests.

"But when the king came in to meet the guests, he noticed a man who wasn't wearing the proper clothes for a wedding.  'Friend,' he asked, 'how is it that you are here without wedding clothes?' But the man had no reply.  Then the king said to his aides, 'Bind his hands and feet and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

"For many are called, but few are chosen."

In this culture, two invitations were expected when banquets were given.  The first invitation asked the guests to attend; the second announced that all was ready.  Here the king (God) invited his guests three times--and each time they refused to come.

God wants us to join him at his banquet that will last for eternity.  That's why he sends us invitations again and again.

   Have you accepted his invitation?

I do believe it is warming up in Indiana.  I know it is still Sunday night but it is 29°!!  My furnace loves it!!

Not a thing on my calendar until Friday morning.  Perhaps I will get some cleaning done.

Quote from: Ruth Ann Bice on January 27, 2008, 09:34:23 PM

I was at the same time pained and very privileged to be able to visit with a lady from our church who is in hospice. The room is very nice - it will be a good place for her as long as she is with us. I don't believe she'll be here more than just a few more days.

While a deeply devoted Christian, she has always been very fearful, likely caused by her extremely poor vision (she was educated at the school for the blind and wears glasses thicker than I've ever seen before, then still must use one of those tiny half-circle magnifying glasses when she could read.

As we prepared to leave, I asked if she'd like for the 4 of us to sing a hymn for her, and we ended up singing Amazing Grace.

Then, after we had prayer the other 3 drifted out, and with her lips barely able to move, she whispered to me "I just hope I will be at peace. I know I'm ready to go, but I hope I will be at peace."

So I replied that she should have no fear, she will not die alone, and won't cross to the other side alone - the angels will be with her and such rejoicing there should be on the other side. I talked about her finding complete healing in Heaven, no pain, no suffering, no fear, no times of loneliness or of not being able to see.

As I talked, her face relaxed, she closed her eyes, and then squeezed my hand once more as I left.

Please pray for Marie, this 80-year-old saint, as she passes through this valley of the shadow of death.

Thanks for sharing this, Ruth Ann.  We definitely will be praying for this dear lady.

We had our time of reading the Bible and praying, Ruth Ann and we prayed for Marie and also we thanked the Lord for you and your friends who took the time to be with her at this time.  Oh, that more of us could and would be so inclined.  As Kevin has said, "Thank you so much for being there for Marie!"

God bless you, Ruth Ann.

I've a home prepared where the saints abide
Just over in the glory land
And I long to be by my Saviour's side
Just over in the glory land

Just over in the glory land
I'll join the happy angel band
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
There with the mighty host I'll stand
Just over in the glory land

I am on my way to those mansions fair
Just over in the glory land
There to sing God's praises and his glory share
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

What a joyful thought that my Lord I'll see
Just over in the glory land
And with kindred saved, there forever be
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

With the blood washed throng I will shout and sing
Just over in the glory land
Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

This is a 'work in progress' about death:

Death is a friend not yet met,
a feast beyond compare,
a place to meet and greet
the origin of care.
Death has the smell of roses
sweet aroma
not decay;
to be met with eyes
bright as children's
waking early Christmas day.

Good morning from a mild and breezy N. Ireland. Snowdrops are in bloom. Also some daffodils and even camellias. As I live in a colder area of the country, some of my plants are not so far advanced but it is so nice to see spring stirring herself. I think I will go down the road a little later and video some snowdrops although I have been suffering from the cold all week.
Pat I do love that song you posted and Etta Sue the devotional was very thougt provoking. I am not much a one for going to wedding parties but I certainly dont intend to miss the one God is laying on.
Dear Marilyn...I was teasing you a little about romance. I am so glad you have found someone who is a good friend. It will be up to you and Michael whether you want to develop the friendship further. May God bless the both of you.
Keith I think I understand what you mean in your poem. Although the Bible calls death the last enemy, for the Christian it is like as you say a friend not yet met because it will usher us into the presence of the King in Heaven. Now that is a joyous thing to look forward to and so we can embrace death when it comes with a quiet joy and contentment in our hearts.
Hi everyone else.

Hi there Colin!   Sounds like nice weather for January!  It's still too cold here for those flowers.  Do you have any photos of your camellias?

Thanks wordsculptor for the "work in progress"   Will look forward to the next.

Good Morning everyone. Good devotional Etta Sue. Iwas as a very low point in my life when I was iinvited to the Banquet. I've never been the same again.

There is sleet all over the roads this morning I just got back from Curves and changed my clothes. Not much on my personal agenda today I do have to stop at the store on the way home to get some veggies.

Colin I know you were teasing, it's ok. I think some were concerned that I was getting into something  too fast. Micheal and I have been talking to each other for about a month several times per week on Yahoo Messenger plus the emails. He seems like a very strong Christian and very  nice.

Etta Sue---good devotional thoughts.  What a banquet that will be, and the least of it will be the food!

Ruth Ann, I can't think of anyone who would be kinder or more understanding as death approaches than you.  May you be richly blessed for your caring and giving.

Wordsculpter, good poem, do show us the finished product!

Samantha, praising God with you!

I went to Pat's and we got over half the Valentine kits done.  We cut out, etc, all the components for the care home residents, put them into baggies for them so all they need to do is put them together as they like.  Of course, some will need help even with that part, but I think they will enjoy making their own Valentine for someone special.

Pat, our car gets pretty messy when we travel sometimes, too.  When are you heading home?

I have two more pics to re-resize that the Pastor took of me yesterday. Right now they are too big.

Ruth Ann you are the sweetest most compassionate person that I know, even your voice exudes peace and tranquility. So nice of you to spend that time with  your friend and almost talk/sing her right into heaven.

I have spent the last two on Yahoo Messenger with my friend. Now I have put on a pot of soup with everything but the sink.

Hi everyone.  This has been a busy day with a doctor's appointment this morning and then taking our daughter back to her apartment.  We had gotten a microwave for her birthday and she had brought her laundry out to do over the weekend so we had a fully loaded car.  Fortunately there is a grocery cart at her apartment that helps us get things to her floor.  We stopped at a Sonny's Bar-B-Que and had a chicken luncheon that was very good and very filling.  As it was late we sure don't need supper tonight.  I came home and took a nap but am still tired as it was an exhausting morning.

Janet, I will e-mail you as soon as I finish here.

Marilyn, I really like your new photo.  I was glad to read your comment about your new friend in Texas.  I am afraid we may become very protective of the people we care about such as our friends here on CP.  However, I know you are a mature person who will act carefully.  I know of several very successful relationships that have occurred via Internet meetings.  Isn't it unusual for you and Al to have snow in your area?

Pat, know the days have gone by quickly.  I would have loved to be able to attend that concert.  I remember looking at the website for that group.  Hope the weather coorperates for your trip home.

Ruth Ann, you are a very loving and caring person.  I am sure you and the others brought a ray of sunshine to the lady during this difficult time for her.

Colin, we haven't seen any real signs of spring here in our area.  However, it shouldn't be long.

Samantha, I am very glad to read of things turning around for you.

wordsculptor, I liked your work in progress.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional for this week.  We also are warming up down this way.  It was 61 degrees when we came by the bank temperature sign about 3 pm.

Hi, Ron, it's great to see your face here in CP. I'm a very poor photographer, but this is a wonderful group with which to associate. We're glad you're going to be part of us.

Y'all have a good rest of the day - I think I'll most likely spend the rest of it here in Nashville, TN catching some "beauty" sleep.

Howdy all y'all ...  :D

We had snow here the past couple days, too!  In fact, schools were closed today :o

My daughter, in Spokane, called earlier this evening and said she couldn't go to work today because of the 18 inches of snow that fell in 24 hours.  She couldn't get her car dug out and had to ask a neighbor to help.  He came with his machine and helped her out.  She says there's more snow in the forecast and she isn't looking forward to trying to get to work tomorrow.   :-\

Lotsa changes going on around here ... I can't stay 'cause I've been at the computer far too long as it is.  Trying to help my daughter get a resume together so she can look into another job.  She's also selling (giving away) her house and looking for an apartment to rent.  Oh, yeah, she traded her Honda CVR for an '08 Toyota .... like I said lotsa changes .......

Good morning cold and rain here this morning. When I went to Curves this morning it was not open, Come to find out the attendant's power was out yesterday, when she reset two alarm clocks they did not go off today. I thing maybe she set them for pm instead of am. She lives up by you Al on Sunnybrook. Was your power out too?

since I didn't get my work out at Curves today I will have to use my mini trampoline this afternoon after work. If it is not raining I will walk the dogs too. Happy didn't get to go yesterday because he burst out the gate and took off next door, he came right back after I chased him but his punishment was no walk. So he will go first the next time.

Again...above is my favorite animation.  For you who are new to CP....keep looking at it, okay?

I got a surprise phone call from my doctor this morning.  I had scheduled the Medicare physical for the 8th of February and a blood draw Friday morning, the 1st.  Seems that it isn't the regular routine yearly physical...the doctor will only talk to you about what Medicare wants the doctor to talk about!  Vision, hearing, height, weight, etc.  But I thought if you didn't do this, you might not be covered by Medicare.  No, if you do this later, they might not pay for it.  So I have canceled Friday's blood draw and next Friday's appointment...leaving those times open for the doctor to see someone who is sick.  I go with Ivalou to the doctor tomorrow and will make my routine yearly appointment for April then.

But today Ivalou has to go back to the cardiologist for a pro-time test so I am going with her.

Not much going on today....just a gloomy, rainy looking but warmer day.  43°F but predicting rain this afternoon.

No time to address everyone personally.  Just thank you all for the comments on the devotion I posted.  Thank you and God Bless You All.

 :coffee:

It's about 6 am where I live, and I've been awake for some time, reading and washing down my thoughts with a big mug o' coffee.

And I just read John 1.  Here's a bit of what I chewed on...

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. When he got there, he ran across Philip and said, "Come, follow me."  (Philip's hometown was Bethsaida, the same as Andrew and Peter.)

Philip went and found Nathanael and told him, "We've found the One Moses wrote of in the Law, the One preached by the prophets. It's Jesus, Joseph's son, the one from Nazareth!"

Nathanael said, "Nazareth? You've got to be kidding."  But Philip said, "Come, see for yourself."

When Jesus saw him coming he said, "There's a real Israelite, not a false bone in his body."

Nathanael said, "Where did you get that idea? You don't know me."

Jesus answered, "One day, long before Philip called you here, I saw you under the fig tree."  Nathanael exclaimed, "Rabbi! You are the Son of God, the King of Israel!"

Jesus said, "You've become a believer simply because I say I saw you one day sitting under the fig tree? You haven't seen anything yet!  Before this is over you're going to see heaven open and God's angels descending to the Son of Man and ascending again."

In His Grip,
Kevin

Thank you Gord for your nice complments about the hair there is a lot of it to get up like that on a Sunday Morning with all those curls. I have to hang it up  and fix it the night before. It is a long hair piece that matches my own hair and is  not as long as mine, but plenty long. If I took the time I could fix my own like that, but it is easier just to clamp on the hair piece.

Nice devotional, Etta Sue.  Thanks for it and the emailed photo's.  Beautiful!  I have only been there when it was Summer.

We had snow again last night and sprinkles of flakes today.  Lots of ice everywhere and I have been freezing for weeks.  Turning 75 seems to have had a bad effect on more than my mind....old body really hurts this winter.

My daughter is much improved and doing her stuff again....makes one wonder about ER doctors tho'...he said it would be necessary for her to use a walker.  No way will she even use a cane.  Tho' I did get her to use it in order to stay upright in order to get into the ER.  She is in a lot of pain but more or less back to what is now her 'normal' condition.  Think folks somewhere must have also been praying for her to recover.

Misty is all upset and out in the cold, due to an electrician being here installing some new light fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom.  Part of the start of the updating of the house.  Only 14 yrs. old, but has to be kept modern in order to maintain it's value...so I am told.  Thank goodness the painting and floors, and counter tops ( the whole house) has been delayed until March.  Think I am much too old for this new world.

Misty gets very upset with strangers and was terrified.  It must be a result of treatment received before she wandered into our yard to be rescued.  Animals don't forget.  I am going to go and get her back inside now.  She can have a snack....with Misty, food really makes her day. ;)

Oh, starting on Friday, all customers have to pay in advance, before they can get gas for their vehicles in BC.  There have been too many stealing from the pumps...taking off before paying.  Interesting world! :ticked:

Here is a little something:

February 2 — Groundhog Day/Candlemas
On February 2, some people think only of those critters that look for their shadows: Punxsutawney Phil in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, and Wiarton Willie in Wiarton, Ontario. In fact, there is a bit more to the day than that.

February 2 is also Candlemas Day. In the Christian tradition, it is the day that a year's supply of candles is blessed.

February 2 is 40 days after Christmas and is known as the Feast of the Purification among Christians. "Februa" was the month for cleansing, when Yule greens were removed from homes and churches, and old brush and debris were burned to prepare the fields for the next sowing. February 2 is exactly halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Oh, about those groundhogs: If they see their shadows, expect six more weeks of winter.

I didn't know that! :)

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Hi everyone.  Not much new today.  I had a meeting to attend this morning and also had to redo a webpage that I had updated on Sunday but it was accidentally overwritten by the man who helps me.  It was no big deal but I really don't like to redo things that I have just done but it happens sometimes.  I have suggested a procedure we can follow so we don't do that in the future.  It is one of the dangers of having more than one person working on the same site.

A highlight of my morning was a great conversation with Pat.  It had been a long time since we had spoken on the phone and it is always a delight.

Jane, it sounds like your daughter is very busy now.  Hope she likes her new vehicle.

Hi Kevin, Colin, Gord, Etta Sue, and Ruth Ann.

Ron, welcome to the CP site.  I live about 30 miles East of Atlanta, Georgia in a little town called Grayson.  This is where we chose to build our retirement home and have been very happy out here.  We are close to the city but not too close although we now have city type traffic with many people moving into our county and our area of the county.  I have been retired for about 13 years.

I read about the snow that many of you are experiencing and realize how fortunate I am to live in the South.  It was a beautiful day today and warm.  However, we are suppose to have rain tonight and a chilly wind to accomply it.

Liz, glad to see that your daughter is doing better and hope that you feel better when warmer weather arrives.  It won't be too long now.

Marilyn, you really threw me for a loop when you talked about hanging up your hair.  Glad you went ahead and explained it.  :)

Liz thank you for the compliment. I like the new pic too. It's the best one I have seen of me in years.

Hi, friends,

I stopped by Sam's Wholesale Club to pick up some vitamins prescribed by the doc, and a very quick squall line came through. It was so strong I watched the winds blow 2 elderly people down on the ground as they were going to their car in the parking lot. Also, it blew shopping carts right out of the little corrals where they're parked for pickup and made them twirl and swirl around the parking lot.

I decided to stay in the truck as long as it took for things to get quieter with the weather. No need to ASK for troubles, I already have enough of my own!  ;)

I wish I had more time, but must head on away. The doctor was quite pleased with me when I was there today, shook my hand, congratulated me on my good progress and reminded me to return in 3 months! HOORAY!

Y'all have a good evening.

I guess I need to post before it becomes another new day!  It's been busy today for me, and I was just about to post when I had company, and she stayed for two hours, so I'm just now getting back in here.  My visitor was a girl my grandson Curtis used to date, and she really likes me, so she called and said she was in town and could she come out for a few minutes.  She just broke up with yet another boyfriend, and needed to talk.  I feel she's still carrying a torch for Curtis, and she needs to move on with her life---he is married now, AND a father!  I wish her the best, though.

I went and got my smile polished today. ;D  See?     Then went to eat lunch with my Youth Friends.

Larry, sorry you had to redo your web work.  That must be aggravating, and I hope you won't have to do it any more.

Tomorrow we go to Garden to get another MRI on Darrel's shoulder.

Welcome, Ron, to CP!  I live in southwest Kansas, about 80 miles west of old Dodge City.

Liz, good to read your post.  Hope your weather warms up soon.  I find the cold doesn't bother me too much unless it is damp, then I get aches here and there.  14 years sounds pretty soon to be needing updating to that extent, but I guess they know what they are doing.  Sometimes that is a major inconvenience, along with the major expense of it!

Ruth Ann, sure glad you weren't out of your vehicle when that awful wind hit!  My goodness!  Hope the elderly who got blown down weren't seriously injured.  Congrats on your good report from the doc!

I'm off to bed now, need those 8 hours of sleep!

Well, the summary of the weather here is - rain.  We're about 3, going on 4 inches above normal now.  But thanks be to our Father Who refreshes and waters His Earth.  We couldn't live long without water.  Liz - your area is one of our favorites to visit in all the world, but I'm glad we're not up there now.  I can do quite well without ice, cold, etc.  Hope Misty comes in and gets warm.

Whew!  What a night.  Indiana had a line of severe thunderstorms/tornados about the length of the whole state last night.  My bedroom is in the southwest corner and I thought the roof was going to peal right off!!  Again, I have never heard the wind like I have this year.  I haven't heard of a tornado touch down but lots of trees, electric lines and such are down in Indiana.  My lights flickered but that's all.  I did get my flashlight and held it until the toughest part passed over.

Today is Tony's birthday...47 today!

Gotta go.  Taking Ivalou to the doctor and this evening we are going to a funeral visiting...her oldest brother-in-law passed away.

Hi everyone.  Really have nothing to post today so will be brief.  We decided to pass on the Bible Study this morning as we plan on going to a special class this evening and then I have choir practice.  It rained and turned cold here last night.  When I went to coffee it was 29 degrees.  I just heard we could have up to 2 inches of rain tomorrow evening and night.  Sure hope that is true as we need is very much.  Hope all have a good day today.

We are watching weather here as well - snow in the mountains and possibly flurries - we plan to drive to AZ on Monday morning but will leave earlier if it looks like a big storm.  One son has been in Portland and he says the weather has been "awful" so I know you west coasters are experiencing a wet & muddy winter.

Marilyn:  Love your picture!

Janet:  I really organized my kitchen last year & have very few dishes & glassware now - it does get difficult but there is always the dining room hutch, which I purged as well.  Always have liked the sparse look in my house anyway.  It helps me "think".  ;D

Denver is loaded with Democrats today - B. Clinton tonight but the massive crowds are there for Obama - Not a good day to drive into the city.

Take care, Carol

I had a very dear online friend, only 48 years of age, die this past Sunday morning.  I was so hoping to be able to meet his dear wife and him but he was waiting for a kidny-pancreas transplant and it just didn't come soon enough for Mark.

I wonder if you all could go to my blogs and if you can post, please post for his dear wife Sue.  I will send her links to both blogs after his funeral which is on Friday.

Here are the links and I do thank you so very much if you will.

Both memorial posts are the same but different folks have posted in each so you can post in both to Sue if you can.

Thank you so very much as this can be a real witness to his wife, Sue.

Mark was on dialysis for a couple of years and that's how we became so close as I was able to help him through his low times as I knew what Jack experienced.

Thanks for all the nice compliments on my new phot. It's about time I had a decent one done. Tonight instead of Women's Bible study the women are gettig together for food, fun and fellowship Valentines party in the fellowship hall at the church.  Written invitations we sent to all the women that we haven't seen in awhile, some have left the church and some just aren't coming. We also have invited friends from other churches. It will be a fun time for all of us.

Well, today both Edwards and Guliani are out of the race..........and the beat goes on........ad nauseum.  :P  I am one who really believes Christians should be involved in the political process, but the crop of candidates this time really leaves me sad.  It's the first time since I have been of voting age that I feel I will have to settle for the lesser of two evils.  Sigh..........

It wasn't bad here, weather wise, today.  Cool and a little windy, but not bad.  We went to Garden and Darrel had his MRI, then we did a little shopping at Home Depot (got a drill bit) and Walmart.  I'm looking for roller skates for Abby, didn't find any.  Walmart had them for little girls, only up to a size 4.

Carol, I haven't even tried to weed out my china cabinet yet.  Lots of souvenir and memories type objects in there, but it is getting too crowded.  Just this much of a start, though, and I understand what you mean by the sparse look helping you think.  The house feels more peaceful already, and I have just gotten started!  As soon as I post this, I'm going out in the garage and clean out the coat closet, which is stuffed to the "gills!"  Next time we go to Garden, Goodwill is getting bags and bags of stuff!  The household type stuff will go to the domestic violence shelter, but they don't have a place for clothes.

Maybe by June, the house and garage will be ready to host Family Reunion!

I didn't sleep well at all last night, will be more than ready to go to bed tonight.

Janet - I so very fully agree with you that Christians should be involved in the plitical process, and I also agree that the crop of candidates is not good.  Are you aware of the American Independent Party?  They have a website under that name, and I feel quite sure you will rejoice at what you discover there.  We've registered AIP now for the last two elections.  The party is growing.  Pray for it.

Hi, folks,

My message will be much longer than usual tonight.

First, an update on Marie. I saw her on my lunch hour today. She did not recognize me, but was able to mouth the word "water" - so I was privileged to share not even a full cup of water, just 4 sips, but oh, how it blesst me to be able to do that tiny little thing for her.

I'm not going to put all of what he said in here, but wanted to share some thoughts from my grandson whose double majors in undergrad school were pre-med and religion. Now, he's in med school. Here's a snippet of what I received from him today:

Something weird happened the other day.  I woke up 30 minutes before my alarm was set to go off.  Maybe it was packing my own lunch or Anne having my clothes ironed and laying out for me.  Even so, it's not typical for me to get up so early.  I had so much time to myself that I decided to take my computer out on the balcony and eat a bowl of Special K with red berries watching the sunrise and checking the basketball scores from the night before.  Looking up into the sky I watched as the clouds moved overhead and the sun started to creep over Pic Paradis.  The view below is one of the pics I saw while waiting to leave.  It's the little things like the colors in the sky or the way the wind blows softly and, at times, roughly through the trees below that allow me to truly gaze into the majesty and beauty of God and his creation.

Needless to say, I started off the day very well and the whole day seemed to go without a hitch.  A full day of classes followed by ICM, dinner, studying, and then bed.  That's my life right now, but I know that it's my preparation time.  There will come a day very soon that I will look back on these days of studying with fondness thinking about how little responsibility I had here and how things are very simple when all you do is go to class.  There aren't many surprises to be had and no one's life is on the line.  I know that day will come, but I still long to reach that point where I deal with people and try to help them with their problems every day.  That's just me dreaming, but how could I help when I look at the wonderful world God has given us.  Sure, things aren't always as we want them to be or how they should be, but all things have a purpose and a reason.  We may not know or understand that reason, but we're not meant to know everything.  There's a reason that we only use 10% of our brain effectively.  Speaking of which, I need to get studying again.  I hope everyone can empathize with how I felt watching the sunrise.  If not, make it a point to watch one in the near future.  It may not change your life, but it will most definitely change your outlook on the day.
------

Oh, how that message warms my heart - I've been praying so hard that he will maintain his close walk with the Lord. This message brought tears to my eyes.

Love to all
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee and a quick trip to Walmart for some lunch items.  I almost always fix my own lunch and enjoy basically the same thing everyday, which includes a sandwich, an apple and some baby carrots.

I have anotherr quiet day planned with nothing on the schedule for this evening.  Last night we attended a new study our minister is giving on Wednesday evenings.  The lesson last night was on fasting.  Unfortunately I always miss the last 15 minutes as have to leave for choir practice.

Last evening we practiced for the first time a most beautiful anthem called "Waiting" by Pepper Choplin.  I just now did a websearch and found his website and there is an mp3 of the entire piece.  Here is the link and just scroll down to the Release in 2007 and on down the list and click on "Waiting" to hear it.  http://www.pepperchoplin.com/anthems.html (http://www.pepperchoplin.com/anthems.html)  I don't think you will be disappointed as the words are wonderful and the music is great.

Ruth Ann, I can see why you were touched by the note you received.  When the seeds are planted you can see wonderful things happen in lives.

Carol, I hope you have a great trip to Arizona and it should be a lot warmer down there.  You have had a rather tough winter so far.

Marilyn, will be interested the how your Valentine's Day turned out.

Janet and Al, I agree that Christians certainly should be interested in politics as who we elect may well impact on our freedoms in the future.

Hope everyone has a good day.

I will re-word the above.  I feel I will have to settle for anyone other than the two evils!

Ivalou and I went to the funeral visiting.  It seems the older you get, the more your friends are dying off.  I guess that is a given.  Ivalou had seven brothers-in-law and has two sisters-in-law.  Large family.  So it was great to see them all but one sister-in-law.  And I know most of their children who were there also.

Later Ivalou and I went to IHOP since we were at the funeral home almost 5 hours and missed our evening meal.  I like breakfast anytime!

Now today Ivalou and I are going to the Lapel funeral home to see another friend who passed away yesterday morning.  The gentleman has been ill quite some time but that doesn't make it any easier.  His sister is a classmate of mine.

This week started out with nothing to do and I have been busy each day so far!!  Maybe tomorrow... :-\  They say death are three in a row...I certainly hope not!

Ruth Ann, good you got to minister to your friend in God's love.  Bless you.

And those words from your grandson---my, how they warm my grandma heart.  I know you were just blessed to your toes reading those words!!  I also pray his close walk with the Lord will be maintained.

Al, thanks for the heads-up.  I will for sure check out the American Independent Party.

Etta Sue, I hope you have do nothing days, rather than funeral visitations.  None of us enjoy having to do that, even though we do see old friends or family there.

Darrel and I got that coat closet cleaned out, and the few we are keeping, I got washed.  Baby steps.........

Larry, your lunch sounds good, and healthy.  I'm really into eating healthy these days, and trying to get Darrel to cooperate.  He is doing better!

More to do, so will go do it!

Larry I have Waiting playing as I type this.  Excellent, I may download it into my mp3 player. Our litle party turned out real nice lots of food left over, only  2 lost members came, my friend Eleanor from the Baptist church in Arcata and one olther lady that does not attend my church. Plus our little group that is always there on Wednesday nights. We  played a game where we put on lipstick and then kissed a  3 X 5 card that was analyzed and we were read the analysis from a Mary Kay hand out. Numbers were drawn and prizes given. We has a short message about Jesus being our Forever Valentine. It was NOT a Mary Kay party but 4 members are Mary Kay consultants.

I stay away from visitations, and just go to the funeral.Visitations are too emotional for me. I cry at anyone's funeral and all weddings.

I didn't realize it was so long since I had been online!

Yesterdays weather was terrible. There was a record High on the 29th of +4C and yesterday was a flash freeze.  There were 60km/hr winds and snow.  On the way to work I was blown sideways twice.  Two of the major North Bay roads were closed because of the road conditions, caused by wind blowing the lake water over the road.  It was wild to say the least.  We struggled last night to get our house heat above 16C or 61F.  Today is much better,  the temperature is the same but without the wind, and the house is cosy.

During the weekend my internet went down and I was unable to do much except go to Heather's and check mail there.  Hopefully everything is corrected now.

I must go and get dinner ready.  God bless all of you

Hi, friends,

It's good to be here tonight. About the time I awakened today, icy weather was about 15 mi away from my home, so quickly I showered and actually was in to work by 6:15 in order to try to make it prior to the ice storm.

Well, it got as far as about 3-4 miles away, and turned a different way!  So, I stayed until my next-door-cube occupant was shrugging into her coat at 3:15 and stopped to encourage me to leave saying her hubby, who works in the next county over had called and ordered her home because the roads were getting so bad.

Well, I made it to about 1.5 miles from home and the rain-snow-sleet mixture (ummm - we oughta coin a new word for that - would "sneet" be close enough??) started.

By the time I got there, in only a few moments, there ws a slushy mixture on the ground and I breathed a sigh of relief. Now, when you look outside, it's pouring the rain down! So, the temp has maybe risen a notch or so. :o

Ah, well, I'm in safely and they weren't reporting many bad accidents on the streets, so I'm thankful.

I'm still glowing over that message from my grandson. No, the burden to pray isn't lifted, but oh, how it helped me feel SO THANKFUL about those years of endless prayer about a situation that doesn't need to be discussed. Yes, God is good...ALL THE TIME.

I've got a health issue or two, but will get around to talking about them in a few days. :)

Good nite, friends.

Ruth Ann, our weatherman calls that "snizzle"......so your word would work, too.  Glad you got home safely.  Now get some sleep!!  You are still working way too hard, girl!  And I will pray for your physical issues, God knows what they are.  I hope your glow inside about your grandson's message just lasts and lasts.  Was it Will Rogers (well, somebody, anyway) who said "I can live for two weeks on a good compliment"  so this should last even longer!  ;)

I should never allow myself to be side tracked when I have something I want to get done.  It seems the day gets past and I don't get back to it.  :-\

See you tomorrow.

Well another day.  Yes, this is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!

I have had Cimi sick over the last few days.  Stomach unsettled and the trotts.  I have given her some tuna flavoured rice, as her tummy is empty and hopefully that will have her on the way to being her happy healthy self.  If dogs could get the flu' I would say that was the problem.

John is picking up in Georgia today and heading home.  He won't be home till late Saturday night.  Then they expect him to turn around and be back out in 36 hours, the legal turnaround for the log books.  He is tired and I hope he is determined to take the full 48 so he can get rested.

Well I am off, I have to work today and have a few things to accomplish first.

Bye for now and God Bless.

February 1--my youngest daughter's birthday!  And, as usual, it sneaked up on me!  I don't understand why I have trouble remembering her birthday in time to get a card sent to arrive in time.  I will send her an e-card and then a homemade birthday card, call her this evening.  Hope that will make amends.

I must go to the care home.  They are having some issues with Beth, and both she and they are unhappy about it.  Pray that I can be the ambassador to smooth things out.  If they involuntarily dismissed her from there, I have no idea what we would do!  :'(

We will soon have the opportunity to bid on installing security cameras in all four of our schools here.  Would you please pray we get the bid?  It would give our company a huge boost, and I truly feel Darrel is by far the best and most knowledgable person to do the job---not to mention the only local one, which should be a consideration.

I must be at it!

Hi everyone.  We had a lovely rain all night, about 1 1/2 inches and it has cleared off now.  We didn't have too many men turn out for the coffee a the local Senior Center this morning.  This evening we are going out with two other couples from our church and then they are coming here and we will play a game involving dominos.  We will eat early as one of the ladies has had a stroke and gets tired easily and so they don't stay out very late.

Janet, certainly hope you and Darrel have the successful bid at the school.  I am sure that would be a big job.

Judy, at least John didn't have any snow to deal with here in Georgia but it doesn't sound too good heading back up to Canada.  I see that Chicago is in the midst of a snow storm and that it is moving East.

Ruth Ann, you were wise not to risk getting caught out in bad weather.  Glad you had no problem on the roads.

Al, I haven't heard anything about that party here in Georgia.  We do have an Independent party but they are certainly at the edge.

Marilyn, glad you enjoyed your party at the church.

Etta Sue, one of my coffee drinking buddies is 85 years old and there are periods of time it seems like he is attending 2 or 3 funerals a week.  He grew up around here and this used to be such a small community that people knew each other.  One of our coffee buddies lost his wife a few weeks ago from cancer.  Their son is our landscape man and keeps our yard.

Hi Ruth, Carol and all who stop by today.

Thank God....the prediction of up to 10" of snow over night did NOT pan out.  It snowed but I can still see blades of grass through the snow.  Snowing right now but not heavy.  A salt truck salted our road just before Ivalou and I got home from the funeral home last evening.  Ivalou just called and said that when she went out to get the paper, the snow plow had already been down our road.  The county I live in is excellent in keeping the roads opened....not so in the county east of us.  If I can get out of my drive, I can get about anywhere!

Unlike Marilyn, I attend visitation and only family funerals.  I am way too emotional at funerals.  When I see someone else crying, I cry, too.  I do believe I tear up at least once a day...if I watch any TV.  I cry when I am sad, when I am happy!  Even reading some emails!!

Not much to shout about today.  Snow and 30°F.  Was warmer earlier because I saw water drips from an eave on the north side of my house.  Sun was shining earlier but not now.  Good day to stay in!

I wonder if you all could go to my blogs and if you can post, please post for his dear wife Sue.  I will send her links to both blogs after his funeral which is on Friday.

Here are the links and I do thank you so very much if you will.

I'm sorry you never got to meet with them in person, but I know they appreciate your friendship and caring contact.

Thank you so much, Jane.  I haven't checked yet as I just got home late last night but I know that this will be lovely for Sue to read.  The funeral services in Georgia are today.

I hope that many more leave a comment.

Larry, that is beautiful!  I have it playing now as I type.  Thanks for the link!

Nice Day here on the island.  No Rain ;D

Yest. the kids had the kitchen countertops and today the taps, installed.  Wow!  They got the new Quartz countertops as it does not ever have to be resealed, like the granite ones.  Also, it seems there are problems with Granite tops....This is harder, even more beautiful.  I stand amazed...No.  Will not be done here as I put in nice tops...tho' they are going to put new countertops and taps, plus water saving toilets, in all the three bathrooms.  So the horror of changes has begun and my kitchen has become a sort of short order food stop.

I have new lights in the bathroom and now all my wrinkles show up real well!!!  I am going to get a dimmer switch installed when he comes back.  Won't change the wrinkles, will do wonders for my morale ;)

Watching the debates on TV sure makes me wonder about the future.  Glad it is not my duty to vote in your election.  Tho' certainly no better choices in my country.  Since our two countries are so closely linked, what happens across the border surely does have an impact on us...Guess you all know that our country is inviting Mexican folk to come here and live and work.  Some interesting things on the internet that rarely ever make the papers!

Read this today in New Scientist Magazine:

FEMALE sperm", "male eggs" and "same-sex reproduction" - whether these terms fill you with hope or disgust, a reproductive revolution is already in progress. In a handful of labs across the world, biologists are trying to make genetically male cells develop into eggs, and female cells into sperm. If successful, their efforts might one day allow lesbian and gay couples to have children that are genetically their own.  :-X  :'(

Guess cloning animals and now humans, is not enough of a challenge.  Sure glad we know the end of the Book.  :)

Well, now that I have ranted a little, will go back to my laundry.  Glad that God is in control of this strange new world and we really can rest in that 'one sure thing' that is left from the past.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Goodness, Liz!  How horrible to read of those awful experiments.  But, as you said, God is in control, and I do not believe He will allow their efforts to come to fruition.  I truly believe we are living in the last of the last days!  When I consider the field of candidates for this election, it makes me wonder, "Where have all the heroes gone?"

Pat, welcome home!  Was everything fine at your place when you got there?

Pat and I got the Valentine kits finished for the care home ladies this afternoon.  That was quite a chore!  On Tuesday, we will help them assemble them at the ladies' tea.

Beth's little refrigerator has quit.  That means we need to buy her another one, but will have to go out of town to find one.  We can get one at Sam's when we go to Amarillo on the 11th, but she will really miss it in the meantime.  Maybe we should just make a special trip and get her one sooner, in Garden or Liberal.  Always something!

I missed Kerri when I called to wish her a happy birthday, but I did leave her a message.  Does that count? ^-^

Hi, friends,

It's so late, my eyes are trying to close, but I wanted to tell you that something I was really worried about is no longer a worry. Ahhhh, what a relief!

Also, I'll probably be scheduled shortly for a bit of surgery to remove a cyst on my left hand. Will fill y'all in on the details when I know them myself.

It was great this evening to have dinner and a long friendly chat with christian friends from my church.

And, then, I dropped by the hotel where my brother is staying tonight to leave a nice photo of me that was taken for our church directory and instead of leaving it at the desk, I thought I heard someone calling "Ruth Ann, Ruth Ann." So, I turned around, and there he sat at his laptop, making use of the stronger wireless signal down in the lobby, so I actually got to see him, we talked about an hour, and exchanged hugs - such an unexpected treat!

G'nite, friends.

I can't believe they are experimenting with sperms and eggs so same sex could have their own genetic children.  Sickening!

This is on the news today here in Indiana.  I am wondering if this is a way to deport some illegal aliens... ???

QuoteINDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has found discrepancies in some of its records that could cost up to 56,000 people their driver's licenses. Another 35,000 who have identification cards but not licenses will receive warning notices.

The BMV started a verification project in November that involved matching its records with a Social Security Administration database. It checked more than 6 million records and found 206,000 cases where its data didn't match the Social Security information.

Since then, about 82,000 people have verified their information, and another 33,000 cases have been resolved.

BMV spokesman Dennis Rosebrough says most of the mismatches were inadvertent, created by typographical errors or people getting married and changing their last names.

Bright and sunny right now.  So the groundhog saw his shadow...six more weeks of winter!  My solar heat is running....that's good.  Kitty said the roads are slick....in her county but in my county they are clear and dry!!

Hi everyone.  We are just back from a meeting we attend on Saturday morning.  Last evening we had a great time with friends.  We met at 4 pm at a Mexican restruarant but the meal wasn't very good.  The other two couples then came to our home and we played Mexican Train with dominos.  Our dominos are double twelves so we played for over 3 hours to get through the entire game.  It was after 10 pm before everyone left and I think we were all exhausted.  I went to bed immediately and didn't want to get up this morning.  I am looking forward to a nice nap this afternoon as soon as I finish my lunch.  Fortunately we don't have to go anywhere else today so will be able to have a quiet afternoon and evening.

Ruth Ann, glad you were able to see your brother and get that hugs.  Hugs are important and help to make people feel better.

Etta Sue, our State is also beginning to put some curbs on illegals and we are seeing it very much in our county.  Many of the jobs they were doing have dried up due to the housing industry problems and the drought, which has eliminated many landscaping jobs.  I read recently that cities officals across the border in Mexico are coming to the USA to complain about all the illegals that are returning to their own country and the inability of the cities to deal with them.  They seem to have the idea that it is the USA's fault that they are having problems dealing with their own countries citizens.  It is a strange world we live in.

Janet, I am sure the loss of Beth's refrigerator is very serious to her.  Sorry to hear that she is having difficulty a the Home.  I understand your feelings about what would you do if they didn't allow her to stay there.  We faced the same situation with my mother when they treatened us if we didn't allow them to highly medicate her we would have to move her to a different home.  Sometimes there are no good alternatives.

Marilyn, keep praying for your son and his family and I know you will.  I have seen God working so much with my family this last year and know it was God's working and not anything I was able to do.

Liz, the article you referened is really alarming.  God created us he wanted us to be and we shouldn't attempt to be God.  The countertop sounds wonderful.  I don't think I have ever seen any made from that stone.

Ruth, glad the storm is hitting on the weekend rather than when you have to be out driving.  We are suppose to get to 60 degrees today and later next week up to 70.

Good Morning, I have been working on  getting some things straightened out in my computer and still have some stuff to put on CD to free up more space and speed up my computer.

I have also been cleaning house and still have the living room/office to do.

Pat did you kennel Geordie or was he with friends/family? I have a neighbor who takes care of mine if I should have to go someplace, he cares of them with I have to work a long shift. That way they can stay at home and he comes over several times a day. I don't think he takes them for walks though, he might if I was gone for a few days maybe.

Well back to the house now.

Light Snow today.  BRR
I am sitting here freezing because the Tile Guy has my door open and is replacing three tiles that cracked from the shaking going on due to new building.  Now I am shaking....he should finish soon.  More houses going up....looks like two more streets in back of us..... ::)

Went to the gallery and looked at photo's...sure lots of nice pictures.  Will try to comment next time...Most impressive!  Have not taken any pictures for some time, come Spring will try to get busy again.  My granddaughter has taken some of our visiting three Anna's Hummingbirds.  Sat and had coffee with my daughter this morning and watched them feeding, also the squirrels, plus other assorted wild birds.  This place is really a little bit of heaven and I feel most grateful to be able to have a share in God's beauty.

I hadn't ever seen Quartz countertops either, Larry.  The kids inherited a little money from relatives the past while and have decided to use it to protect their investment in the house.  Everyone here wants only the best now, so this is necessary for both resale and to help my daughter cope with her disabilty.  Their kitchen cabinets are high end, the countertops were mediocre and so now things match....At some point they will have to scale down as both are in their 50's now and health will be an issue. So the house will be good for a number of yrs. after this update and still maintain it's value.  Much better than blowing things on holidays or waiting to update, as costs keeps increasing.  As does everything.....!

I think the noise has stopped, so hopefully he is nearly finished.  Of course, Misty is hiding outside somewhere....may not see her for quite awhile as she gets so scared.  Every morning I lecture her about leaving the squirrels, birds, etc. alone and staying in the garden.  Ah, the joys that come from having a pet ;)

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

I'm home, after a quite long day.  We drove to Liberal and bought a new refrigerator for Beth, stopping to pick up Abby on the way.  We looked again for roller skates, again found only really small ones.  Stopped to visit a little with Diane when we came back through their town and dropped Abby off.

We went to the Home, cleaned out (and off!) Beth's refrigerator, which had begun running again, then stopped again.  Got the new one situated, plugged it in---and it wouldn't run!  So Darrel checked things out, and what do you know?  It was the darned outlet!  We were able, barely, to reach another one with the cord, got it plugged in, running, put her food back in, pictures back on the door, etc.  So that's done.  We brought the other one home, will keep it until after family reunion, then give it back to Jeff if he wants it--don't think he does.

Anybody care to say which team you are rooting for tomorrow in the Super Bowl?  I really don't care, was happy to hear interviews with players from both teams who are dedicated Christians.

Ruth Ann, so glad to read the good news about your dry issue, also about your visit with your brother.

Time to go eat a salad!

Words and music by Stuart Hamblen

My heart can sing when I pause to remember
A heartache here is but a stepping stone
Along a trail that's winding always upward,
This troubled world is not my final home.

Chorus
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there, will only bring a smile.

Chorus
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

This weary world with all its toil and struggle
May take its toll of misery and strife:
The soul of man is like a waiting falcon--
When it's released, it's destined for the skies.

Chorus:
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

We had a sale at work called "Super Bolt Saturday"  It gave the ladies time to buy fabric at a sale price so they can sew while the hubby's watch the "super bowl"!

I have found my dream sewing machine.  Unfortunately it is and will be only a dream.  It is $8999.00.  It is an embroidery machine and can do anything you ask it to do.  Connect it to the computer and download a picture of your grandchild and the machine will embroider it!  It is nice to dream.

I am on Praise team tomorrow, Kassie is singing and I am on overheads.  I do so enjoy doing that.  Melanie our pastor's wife is leading.

On the way home I was singing the old hymn Day bay Day and with each passing moment,  Pat?

Well I am off will be back later.

JudyB, our God is big enough to provide you with that sewing machine.  If you really want it. I'll agree with you in Jesus name and pray that it will come to pass.  With all the sewing you do, it's not like its a silly want.  I'm sure it would provide you many years of good and profitable use.  My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory!  Praise the Lord!  I would like something like that, but I would not use it much after I got it. (Which is why I don't have one!!)

Just my two cents.

Have a great evening y'all! :D

Words by Lina Berg
Music by Oscar Ahnfelt

Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best
Lovingly, it's part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and with rest.

Ev'ry day the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He whose name is Counselor and Pow'r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
This the pledge to me He hath made.

Help me then in ev'ry tribulation
So to trust thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith's sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy Holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
'Til I reach the blessed, promised land.

Well, I managed to hit some sort of key, and right in front of my eyes, my post disappeared from the posting box.  :o

It's been a good day here in Nashville, with temps rising almost to 60 degrees! The weather forecaster says we'll enjoy a couple more of these spring-like days (my goodness! I could certainly get spoiled very quickly) and then will probably revert to more wintry days.

I spoke with a man at Radio Shack, where I went to inquire about the converters that will be needed next year to allow those of us with older tvs to continue to watch tv after Feb 17, 2009.

1. Radio Shack can print out the request form - the US government is offering two $40 off coupons per home to help soften the blow of purchasing a converter box for each tv.

2. The converters will go on sale in a couple of weeks, with an expected price of almost $70.

3. The coupons, when received, will be valid for 90 days.

4. The man said that Radio Shack employees will assist those who need the help in completing the request form.

5. And, of course, they will be selling the converters.

I'm thankful that the price won't be completely above the limited purses and billfolds of those on fixed incomes.

Also, I was able to do some grocery shopping today, took myself out to a late lunch, spoke with my daughter on the phone, and also got to briefly see my brother again before he left for Cincinnati.

I've thanked God all day long for the wonderful opportunity to unwind and enjoy the beauty of a warm winter's day.

Good nite, friends.

:)   Thanks for all the great post's today and the past few days.  I am enjoying the time that I can read them and also be able to think about how much this sight is able to halp others in the way that we are all praying for the many request's .  Again I want to thank you for the many times that you have done that for Noreen and I.  She still has many things that she need's prayer for and that the Lord would guide our wonderful Christian doctor in which direction to go for treatment's for her.

Pat:  I am glad to see you got home safely and also I love that  old hymn Day By Day it brings back memories.   Look after yourself big sis.

Judy B.  Hope that John got home safely and takes the needed time for rest. I see that you are very busy <3

Hi everyone.  I have to be at church at 10 am for a special choir practice with the seniors of our church.  Each year around Valentine's Day we have Senior Sunday and those 50 and over fill the choir loft and provide the special anthem.  This year we are doing a combination of "Blessed Assurance' and "No One Ever Care For Me Like Jesus".  Next Sunday we will be singing it and then there is a special luncheon for seniors with entertainment provided.  It is always a special day.

I am feeling much better this morning than I did yesterday.  I had a rather idle day yesterday as didn't feel like moving around much.

JudyB, I thought my wife had an expensive sewing/quilting machine, but nothing like that one.  That would have been out of our price range for sure.  Did lots of women come and buy fabric yesterday?

Is watching the Super Bowl a big event in Cananda?  It certainly seems to be here in the USA and sometimes the games are actually boring after all the hype.  I always hope for a competive game regardless of the winners.

Ruth Ann, I applied for a certificate for the converter box the first day it was available.  I tried to register online at the designated website but there were errors on the page so ended up calling.  I understand they won't issue the certificates until the boxes are available in the stores.  I feel there is something very wrong in having the Imperial Federal government mandate something like this and it should be a product of the marketplace.  Just my opinion.

Janet, I am sure you would almost have preferred there be a problem with the refrigerator than the outlet after all the effort you went through to get the new refrigerator.  Hopefully it is another crisis resolved for Beth.

Liz, thanks for the explanation on the countertop.  I think you daughter and son-in-law are wise to update their home.  I watch some of the reality selling programs on TV and it seems that all the buyers are looking for at least granite countertops and updated applicances in the kitchen.

Marilyn, I have to go through and clean out my computer periodically like you have just done.

Good to see everyone else posting and a special hi to you all.  It is time for me to leave for church.  Pat and I will both be driving this morning as she doesn't need to be at church until 11:15.

Good morning, friends. It's supposed to be a beautiful day here in Nashville. How much I enjoy it when the little breaks from wet, icy, wintry days occur down here in Nashville. Today, the temp is expected to rise to 60 degrees!

Y'all have a wonderful day in the Lord.

Good Morning. You don't have to get one of those converters if you have Cable or a satellite dish they convert it for you. If you have either of those check with your provider first before you purchase anything.

Still raining here no sign of it clearing up today. I am ready for church and wondering is the Super bowl is going to be on ESPN I don't get the big 3 networks with the dish.

Larry I still need to clean more out of my computer I have a bazillion PSP tubes that need to go on CD yesterday i put some of my plug and backup files on CD and that cleared about 10 gigs off my hard drive.

TTYL when I get home from church.

Church was great this morning.  For the second service, the Assistant Teen Minister preached today.  First time I have heard him preach.  Normally he is one who is in a skit...hair greased down, parted in the middle, horn rimmed glasses with white tape holding them together, plaid shirt, plaid tie that doesn't match the shirt, bib overalls, clunky shoes!  Now you see the picture.     But today Charlie cleaned up really well and he gave a very great sermon on 'Clearly'.

Later I went to Taco Bell and I got my car washed in Pendleton.  Just a drive thru car wash but my car looked like a Palomino .. spotted brown and it is actually dark teal in color.  My windows were terrible.  All of it due to so much salt that Indiana has had to put on the roads.  All the roads look gray!!

I feel a nap coming on.  Another Saturday night that I didn't want to go to sleep but kept yawning.  Way after midnight before I got into la-la land!

Since I don't watch football, let me know who won, okay?  (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fbestsmileys.com%2Fsports2%2F8.gif&hash=fccb9f58885fd47084b2e73f2501708867cc9ce3)  Last years Super Bowl was sooooo  much better!!

Hey, folks, I hate to tell you, but I already KNOW who will win the Super Bowl---the team with the most points at the end of the game!   (Sorry... :-X)

I had a headache all night, and it really intensified during church.  The light was hurting my eyes, the right one in particular.  I hope when I get new glasses the headaches will stop.  I had headaches and migraines for years, but they stopped about 15 or 20 years ago, except for an occasional one brought on by stress.  I find the older I grow, the less I can handle stress, so try not to get into situations that cause it.

After taking some pain pills, the headache is easing, so I think now is a good time to try to take a nap and make up for the sleep lost last night.

Hope you all enjoy your afternoon!

Good afternoon to all.   We had a very good service this morning taken by our senior pastor and his subject was  Stewardship OF THE GOSPEL. ROMAN'S1: 16 17  N.I.V. and it always has an outline to fill in as he goes through the sermon.

After our service is over we have two couples that make a lunch and they call it loonie lunch and that is what you pay for it.  If you are not from Canada a loonie is what took the place of a one dollar bill when they got rid of it.  So it is very cheap for lunch especially for families.

Well for those of you who are watching the super bowl I hope that you enjoy it.  God bless you all and have a safe week. <3

Services at the church where I attend are always really special.  The pastor really has an annointing as a teacher.

Usually, on the first Sunday of the month, we have a potluck dinner at noon but the notice in the bulletin last week said it would not be today but next Sunday.  When the elder made the announcements his comment was "...because something else is happening next Sunday."  Then everyone ( well all the men) said "SuperBowl!"  Aaawwww ... couldn't have potluck today because they were anxious to get where they could watch the game ...    :ticked:   Oh, well, some of us still met for refreshments and fellowship after church.

Good afternoon:    It is a much nicer day than Friday in fact we went out for dinner on Saturday with another couple and today we again went out for a short while now it is time to prepare dinner so that we can watch the Superbowl.

Judy: Mel is in need of new winter shirts and finding sutable fabric is a problem.  Toronto just does not carry what I am looking for.   I once would have liked to have a sewing machine with all of the goodies but not now the basic is fine for me the only change I would like is one that makes better button holes.

A question:   A few days ago I made a Head Cheese Loaf  can anyone tell me why the name cheese as only meat is the only ingred. ?

That's a good question, Ruth!  But I do not have the answer.

I like this--short and to the point!

Cowboy's Ten Commandments
(posted on the wall at Cross Trails Church in Fairlie, Texas)

(1) Just one God.

(2) Honor yer Ma & Pa.

(3) No telling tales or gossipin'.

(4) Git yourself to Sunday meeting.

(5) Put nothin' before God.

(6) No foolin' around with another fellow's gal.

(7) No killin'.

(8) Watch yer mouth.

(9) Don't take what ain't yers.

(10) Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff

Now that's kinda plain an' simple, ain't it?

Yes - I don't know why that couldn't be posted in courthouses all OVER this country!!  ;)

It's been a very busy day. Our pastor spoke on God's challenge to us to try him and see what blessings he will bestow as we bring our tithe to the church.

I'm so glad my training beginning as a wee tot was to tithe fiathfully -- even on gifts in birthday cards, etc. When giving as God requires is so matter of factly practiced in front of a child and then the child chooses to follow the path of his/her elders, there's no difficulty at all - it's simply done as a part of one's life.

Then, a "progressive" dinner for me. I ate with my after-church-lunch-bunch - only a small cup of soup and hot tea.

Next, after a 20-mile drive to get there was a brief stop by a friend's 90th birthday celebration "tea" - a drop in and stay a few moments type affair.

Then, 3 lifelong friends and a dear friend of one of us met at a new steakhouse restaurant for our "christmas" gift sharing and a neat lunch. It was particularly nice, since at this restaurant, lunch-time on Sundays extends until 4 pm. So, the lunchtime prices, and portion sizes, were what we were happy to get.

Great service, wonderfully delicious food, and a unique "Western-style" environment in the steakhouse.

Then, the 20 mile drive back home.

So, I'm worn out.

Y'all have a wonderful evening. I'm guessing that the Superbowl will "watch me" instead of me staying awake to watch it!!

The beauty of the machine I am looking at (the dream machine) is that I can take a picture of the girls from off the computer, transfir the picture to the machine and it will embroider the picture onto material.  It does all the steps automatically and only beeps when there is a change of thread needed.   I cannot justify that kind of expense in this day and age, especially with so many needs around us and within our circle of believers.  Besides, I can use the floor model whenever I want and let it run as a demonstration.  That works for me!. ;D  I won't be around much this week as I am working every day, and the days will be long ones.  We had to rearrange piano lessons to accomodate my work schedule.  The boss is off to Toronto for a training course.

Our pastor is really amazing.  he explains everything so well.  We said he had big shoes to fill.  Well he has filled them, he is totally different to what Dennis was, and that is a good thing.

It is late, I am tired and have a big day ahead of me tomorrow.  After work we are stay ing in North Bay, to save gas and double tripping, so we won't be home till about 10:30.

Nite all and God Bless

Hi everyone.  It is a dreary looking day here in Georgia.  However, it is not too cold and may rain a little later.  We did have a one-tenth of an inch last evening.

When I got home from coffee my wife told me she had talked with our daughter who is back at the hospital with new chest pain.  They are awaiting the heart doctor to come in to decide what they are going to do.  I sure hope the new stent hasn't blocked up.  She is in the ER at the moment.  We know she is in God's hands but this really gets tough sometimes.  At this point we don't plan on going down to the hospital.  I haven't felt very good myself the last couple of days and am fatigued today and it would be a tough trip.

We had a good church service yesterday and afterwards 16 of us went out to eat together.  They put a couple of their tables together but 4 of us had to go to a separate booth, which was fine as you can talk more easily with a small group.  I did watch the game last night and it was exciting.

Jane, I wonder how the game would interfere with a pot luck since the game didn't start until aboug 6:15.  I guess that would have been 3:15 your time so maybe that is the problem.  Before our services actually started yesterday, a short video was shown that had been made by a church with the idea that the church service was the superbowl.  It was very enjoyable.

Fortunately I don't have any appointments today.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Hi Larry, sorry to hear about your daughters health problems.  Will start praying right away.

Just wondering about all this rain we've been having. Has it put a dent in the drought in Georgia?

Have a great day everyone!

Today is my day to use the phone a lot.  I may go days without making a phone call.  But I got a letter Saturday saying that my retirement insurance would no longer cover services performed by Community Hospital.  My urologist and my ENT uses a Surgery Center of Community Hospital.  So I called both of them and they also perform surgeries at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.  So all is okay.

I have been noticing a noise in the rear of my car when releasing my brakes.  I called Tony.  He said it could be the calipers not releasing, sticking or something like that.  I called where I get my car serviced and took my car in.  They checked everything out and couldn't find anything wrong.  They think if there was anything it was due to cold weather or damp weather.  I did notice that after I drove it awhile, I didn't hear the noise.  No charge for checking it out!

And I thought my cell phone wasn't free unlimited Verizon to Verizon.  It is so now I can call Tony and Charlene and Ivalou and KItty on the cell any time for free!!

Now I am waiting for the mail to come to see if I have a check.  Then I can go to the bank and deposit.

Larry,

I prayed for your daughter this morning.

This morning I read from John 4...

A woman, a Samaritan, came to draw water. Jesus said, "Would you give me a drink of water?" (His disciples had gone to the village to buy food for lunch.)

The Samaritan woman, taken aback, asked, "How come you, a Jew, are asking me, a Samaritan woman, for a drink?" (Jews in those days wouldn't be caught dead talking to Samaritans.)

Jesus answered, "If you knew the generosity of God and who I am, you would be asking me for a drink, and I would give you fresh, living water."

The woman said, "Sir, you don't even have a bucket to draw with, and this well is deep. So how are you going to get this 'living water'?  Are you a better man than our ancestor Jacob, who dug this well and drank from it, he and his sons and livestock, and passed it down to us?"

Jesus said, "Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again.  Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life."

In His Grip,
Kevin

Hello everyone. Beautiful day here today, I even got out to walk the dogs after work.

Tomorrow I am going to meet Willa and her husband at the Sizzler for a Cajun Buffet then I have an appointment at Apria to pick up some new parts for my CPAP machine and try out some new masks. Then I will be stopping at Cash and Carry to buy a few things. I really need to get over to Winco to get some stuff too. When I find my getroundtuit.   ;D

Nothing exciting happening around here, I have cooled it with my friend for awhile.

Hi, friends,

It's a warm evening, and tomorrow's expected to break the record high for that day set back in 1980-something. However, as afternoon arrives. be on the lookout for bad storms! Yikes.

Larry, I, to have prayed for your daughter today, and for others' children and for their needs.

The phrase from an old song is running through my head, "Oh, how praying rests the weary, it can turn your night to day, And when things seem tough and dreary, don't forget to pray."

We truly need to do just that - pray for each other.

Larry, I'm praying for Stacey, too.  I will be looking for an update on her tomorrow here.

Marilyn, when you mentioned your friend, I wanted to tell you that our pastor's wife's sister, who was married to a much older man, then he died (all this before we knew her) ...anyway, about a month ago, this tall, good-looking black man came to church, and pastor introduced him as Amy's friend.  Well, today I was told that he gave her a 2 1/2 karat diamond ring.  :o  Hmmm......seems pretty fast to me, but it's her life, not mine.  And I wish her the best.  He lives in Houston.

I have something on my calendar every day this week.  Nothing big, just stuff.  Wish I had at least one day with nothing on it!

I went to the eye doctor this morning, and he was very pleased with my eyes.  But, another problem---he says I have residual astigmatism.  The problem is that it is horizontal in my right eye, but vertical in the left eye!  So it could cause some feelings of disorientation.  He says it usually sorts itself out if one is patient.  Also, because of the instability of my eyes because of the RK surgery years ago, he wants to check them again at the end of the day on Wednesday, to see if my vision is still fluctuating like it was.  I will be glad to get some new glasses.  The vision in my right eye is really good, left one not as good, and glasses should even that out, and I hope lessen the headaches.

I know, TMI----I will shut up now!
