Morning Devotional...
January 1, 2012

Your Strategy For 2012
From the files of Adrian Rogers

BIBLE MEDITATION:
"These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full." John 15:11

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Do you depend upon Jesus Christ? I mean totally depend upon Him? Here's the way you can tell—are you resting in Him today?

You see, when you are totally committed to Jesus Christ, you rest in Him. You realize that your every need is necessary for Him to supply.

Have you ever looked at a branch? It has no other source of life than the vine. If you asked that branch, "What's your secret for your healthy leaves and fruit?" the branch would answer, "My secret is that I'm resting in the vine."

"But what about your needs?" you ask.

"I know I have needs, but that's not my responsibility. My response is to rest in the vine's ability to provide. I don't produce the fruit. I just bear it."

ACTION POINT:
Are you resting in the Lord today? Will you choose to "rest" in Him for the next 365?

Hi everyone as we begin a brand new year.  As I was thinking about the new year this morning I started to think of all the things I have to be grateful regarding 2011.  It was far from the best year of my life in many ways but I am very grateful to still be alive, to have my family still with me and closer in our hearts than we may ever have been as adults. Therefore it was a very good year.  I am grateful for a home and and friends, especially my friends in these discussion groups, who I have come to feel are a part of my family.  I am grateful for a wonderful wife who puts up with me.  I could go on and on but won't.

We have a bright sunny day today but they are warning of a sudden change in the weather later as it is suppose to get pretty cold (seems appropriate for January).  We had a quiet day yesterday and plan on another today.  We elected not to attend church this morning as they were having a combined contemporary service and neither Pat nor I find the loud, loud music desirable.  I guess our age is showing as know many people do like it and that is fine.  I have a number of projects to do here in my office today and will then enjoy some of the bowl games.  I get to start a new book on my e-book reader as finished the one I was reading late last night.

Janet, sounds like the Logo game was a lot of fun and I bet John and Beth enjoyed being the winners.  It sounds like Lon is trying not to overbuy on the supplies for your job.  Hope he got the backsplash finished and bet it is pretty.

Etta Sue, looks like Ali wanted all of your attention yesterday.

Al, that is good news on the operation front.  Certainly hope you will be able to get home within the next few days as it seems you have been away for a really long time.

Hi Ken and Don.  It is good to see your posts.

Jane, some things that happen such as the loss of your daughter make it hard to understand that saying but guess it is what makes us accept life with faith that it is true even if we can't understand it.  We will always remember the sad times but don't have to dwell there indefinitely as that accomplishes nothing for us.

Judy, good for you in upholding your own boundaries in your own home.  Sounds like you are getting a clean start to the new year with the clean dogs.  :)

Marilyn, what a nightmare for a family to have a missing child.  I hope she comes to her senses and returns soon or at least contacts the family to let them know she is alright.

Etta Sue, have a tried to System Restore on your laptop.  I don't know whether the no-reformat instructions I sent you will work on Vista or not.  I was never a fan of Vista.

Jeanne, thanks for the fine devotional thought for today.  It makes a very good point about being the branch and needing to stay connected to the source of our life.

Good morning, all ... Here we are at the beginning of a brand new year.  Whatever lies ahead is just that AHEAD ... we look back only for reference, but focus on this moment, look to the future.  May we all experience peace and good health and a solid faith in the One who holds tomorrow .... knowing He also holds our hand! ...  :)

Etta Sue I hear ya about living near Larry.  I wish I were close enough to have him figure out the problems on my system.  I have windows 7, an authentic version, but there is so much that doesn't work it is just crazy.  Larry a System Restore hasn't worked.  I just wish I had XP again.

It was quite a night last night.  We heat with wood, John let it burn down a bit so the house was "warm" not hot.  I woke up at * with Kimi having opened the bedroom window a foot and the house was freezing. Temperature outside was about 0*C... On went the oil till John got up and relit the wood.

Larry They know the boundaries.  And seem to be able to keep them in our home.

Have a wonderful day today everyone, Let us focus on Him as we proceed into the New Year.

Hi, friends, the cold front came through a couple of hours ago, and skies ae blue with little white puffy clouds hanging in the sky as they slowly pass by on the wind. :)

Thank you for the wonderful comments that have been so great for reading today. It's good that my little tummy virus is also drifting away - maybe on some of those little white clouds. ;) And, the sniffles have dried up, too, so this year's definitely lookin' up!

My little pot of Hoppin' John (a traditional southern meal for New Years Day) has cooked. The tomatoes, rice, blackeyed peas, garlic, and a bit of green chilies smells SO good. :)

I really stepped out of my rut last night and went with friends a few miles down the road to a christian singles gathering at a lady's home. Most of us there were 50 or above, and all had a super good time.

On the way home we laughed and talked. Oh, what fun. And, I was so glad the lady who was driving decided to leave about 10 pm before the inebriated folks from midnight celebrations got on the roads. ;)

Al, this message serves to remind us, as Judy said, that God hears and answers prayer. I can only imagine how thankful you'll be to get back home.

Pat, it sounds as if your recovery is bringing you ever closer to better vision. These procedures our Lord has allowed surgeons to develop certainly do allow us to glorify our Maker and Healer. Praise His Holy Name!

Sure wish I was around to pet those kitties and doggies y'all talk about. Y'all just give an extra bit of love to them today for "Auntie Ruth Ann."

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Today was a good start to the new year.  We drove to Hugoton to attend services at My Father's House, Beth and John went, too.  Chip Brim was there, and he is a wonderful speaker who used to be a baseball coach, making champions out of former losers.  Then God called him to train Champions for Christ, telling him the body of Christ is in need of coaching.  The young people really love him!  After church we went to Disne's for lunch.  We still have a little bit of snow left, and it took both Curtis and Mark to pull Beth in her wheelchair through the snow and mud to the back door, where they have a ramp.  Then it took Abby and me quite a while to get the snow and mud off the wheels of the chair.  But I am so happy the family likes to keep including Beth, even when it does mean extra effort.

We had a good visit with nurse Sondra last night, and she is to stop by again tonight.  I asked John to pick up a couple of frozen pizzas which I will pay for, so we can eat together again tonight.

The wind hit here yesterday with a fury!  I looked out and the tumbleweeds were rolling and bouncing all over the place!  Some of them would bounce five feet off the ground when they hit something.  Thank God it didn't blow that hard too long, and let up before dark.

Al, it will be so wonderful to have you back home again!  We are all rooting for you!

I pray each of you has a restful night's sleep, and not like my past three nights have been.  ;)

Judy, I understood that Kassie's boyfriend had broken up with her when they found out she was pregnant.  Did they get back together?

We tried to make it to an 8 AM service at one church but decided that a Presbyterian church service at 9 was a better fit this morning.  So, we were there - the sign still said 9 but one person indoors said that it would begin at 10 - we went out for a doughnut and coffee and read the paper.  Happy service this morning - I think we have found a new church home.  At the end, about 20 in the congregation talked about what the church has meant to them and apparently they are thrilled with the new pastor of one year.  They do not have a quilt group though as the other church, but Don really liked this place.

It was 80* F here today, can you believe it?  We took really long walks before it got too hot.

We ate leftover Chinese food tonight and I set up sewing machine & read a little.

Hi everyone.  Well winter has finally begun in Atlanta, at least for a couple of days.  It is suppose to not get above the low 40s today and we are to have some wind along with it.  My regular Monday activities resume today.  I did ask the guys attending our men's Monday luncheon to meet at 11:30 rather than 1 pm today so we will be back home in time to watch the Georgia/Michigan State Bowl game, which begins at 1 pm.  We are expecting the housekeepers to be here this morning and I need to make a quick trip to Walmart and a couple of other places for a few items.  So it will be a busy day as also have something to do this evening.

Judy, what is not working on your Windows 7?  I have had no problem with it on my computers.  Glad your boundaries were observed.  It doesn't sound like good weather to be leaving a window open at night.  BRRR.

Marilyn, I have a good friend who is also and Oregen alum and is pulling for the Ducks in the Rose Bowl.

Rut Ann, I would just skip the meal if I had to have the traditional southern meal for New Years. However, hope you enjoyed your special meal to start the new year. Your singles party sounds like it was a lot of fun and glad you could attend.

Janet, so happy Beth was able to attend the events with you yesterday.  I can imagine what a job it was to clean the wheels of the chair and those chairs are very heavy.

Carol, maybe you can start a quilt group in the new church.  I am sure you need something else to do this new year.  :)

Time to leave for coffee.  Sure hope McDonald's isn't too cold this morning.

Larry, it looks like the new year is starting out with a real twist!  Something just doesn't seem right when on January 2nd Atlanta won't get warmer than 40 degrees, while here in central Montana we are looking for a high today of 56 and overnight low around 40!  I think the Lord does things like this just to keep us from thinking we understand how things like the weather are suppose to work!

I am eagerly anticipating 2012 to see what our Maker has in store for us.  The way I see it, regardless of what happens in our lives, we are one year closer to Christ's return - and I am impatient for that day.  There are a lot of things to pray for in our personal lives, our communities and our respective countries.  It is heart-warming indeed to witness the fellowship and support shared on this site among believers, and while I don't post here often, please know that I am praying with you and for you all.  May you all be blessed in special ways in 2012!

Jeanne excellent devotional.  So often I feel I have to "do something", and when I do I know I mess things up.  Lord help me to rest in you and not dart out on my own and mess up your plan!

We are a house of sickies today.  Both Kass and I are struggling, so I am spending my time on the puter doing little jobs every time I get up.  so clean up is getting done slowly.  I think of Flylady, saying "You can do anything for fifteen minutes."  No I can't but I can do something for five.

We have snow coming down outside, often wind blowing, it is so clean and white.  Yes nothing is whiter than God's white.

Leaning on the Everlasting Arms  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/leaning-on-the-everlasting-arms.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"He was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!' Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. 'You of little faith,' He said, 'why did you doubt?'" Matthew 14:29-31

Words: Elisha A. Hoffman, in The Glad Evangel for Revival, Camp, and Evangelistic Meetings (Dalton, Georgia: A. J. Showalter & Company, 1887).
Music: Anthony J. Showalter--Showalter wrote this tune and words to the refrain after hearing from two friends whose wives had died, and asked Hoffman to write the remaining lyrics.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

Well, the way the laptop is working now, I can live with it.  I have saved my email contacts and my Firefox bookmarks to a flash drive and backed up my pictures, documents, music and videos to my external hard drive...just in case.

It seems when I first raise the lid is when I get most of the not responding windows.  Then it eases off.  And I see it mostly in emails.  I am thinking that instead of re-installing Windows on here...if the laptop lasts...I will purchase a new laptop.  This one is about 4 years old, I am thinking.

I found Larry's instructions for Windows 7 this morning.  I don't know if it will work on Vista or not!

I got up this morning around 9 and headed to Noblesville.  Bob Evans didn't have a parking spot open so I thought, I don't need breakfast anyway!  So I went to WalMart and got essentials in case we get snowed in...or out!  It was snowing at the time.  Then I went to Pet Supplies Plus for the girls Feline Urinary Tract cat food....cheaper by the bigger bag!  Then headed home.

The wind has been so fierce yesterday and today!  So strong...up to 55mph!  So one doesn't stay out in it very long!  It has stopped snowing now and the sun is shining but it is still cold...23°.  Brrrr!  The American Flag across the way is straight out towards the southeast!

Ivalou has had her daughter, Teresa and her husband, Doug, at her house since Friday evening.  They just got back from somewhere...bet they went for Chinese!  They both have to go back to work tomorrow.  They are suppose to take down Ivalou's Christmas and do other piddly jobs for her!

My banana and coffee for breakfast didn't last.  Time to find something to eat out of the essentials I got this morning!

May God bless each one of you in 2012. We have a great, big, wonderful God who loves each one of us and is concerned about every aspect of our lives. Resting in Him does give us peace:)

I'm so sorry to hear about your computer, Pat.  I was able to help a friend get the power supply for her computer replaced. And, since I also had my XP there for repairs, the service person only charged for the parts, nothing for the labor for her computer. She is ecstatic!

I wish I could respond to each message, but am so sleepy, I must cclose down this computer and prepare for sleep.

G'nite, friends,

Prayer Is the Soul's Sincere Desire (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/prayer-is.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Written by: by James Montgomery, 1771-1854--James Montgomery  wrote 400 hymns in his career, approximately 100 are still in use; the more recognizable, in addition to "Hail To the Lord's Anointed" might be "Angels From the Realms of Glory", "Come to Calvary's Holy Mountain",  "Go to Dark Gethsemane", "Prayer is the Souls' Sincere Desire", "In the Hour of Trial", "Lift Up Your Heads", "Ye Gates of Brass" and "For Ever with the Lord".

1.   Prayer is the soul's sincere desire,
   unuttered or expressed,
the motion of a hidden fire
   that trembles in the breast.

2.   Prayer is the burden of a sigh,
   the falling of a tear,
the upward glancing of an eye,
when none but God is near.

3.   Prayer is the simplest form of speech
   that infant lips can try;
prayer the sublimest strains that reach
   the Majesty on high.

4.   Prayer is the contrite sinners' voice,
   returning from their way,
while angels in their songs rejoice
   and cry, "Behold, they pray!"

5.   Prayer is the Christians' vital breath,
   the Christians' native air;
   their watchword at the gates of death;
   they enter heaven with prayer.

6.   O Thou, by whom we come to God,
the Life, the Truth, the Way:
   the path of prayer thyself hast trod;
Lord, teach us how to pray!

I hope I am not being too premature but I think my laptop is fixed!  I remembered that Charlene's son is here from Florida and he's a geek!  I talked to him yesterday and he suggested going to the Microsoft website and install a new Search Indexer.  I downloaded it and then a window popped up that scanned my laptop and then said 'Your system is up-to-date and doesn't need up-dating at this time'.  So I didn't install it.

Then I saw something else to check the Search Indexer.  I eventually ran a System File Check.  It went 100% and said no problems with my system!

So far this morning everything is super dandy!!!

I love it when I fix something on my own or at least without costing me!!

I did just check and I got this laptop August 6, 2008.  So it is going on 4 years.

Sorry, Pat, for your computer.  Sounds like something bad.  I have heard about those blue screens.  Had one once and it cost me $$$ for Windows being re-installed.  Hope I never see another blue screen!

I think I ate something that didn't agree with me yesterday.  I was chilled all day and most of the night and running to the little room in the house a lot.  Today I feel fine but have more clothes on than yesterday.  It is still windy and cold...22°.  Brrr!  The sun is shining so that makes everyone feel better!!

I hadn't talked with Ivalou since last Thursday other than a few words at church Sunday.  She had company since Friday night.  Her daughter and SIL were there from Ohio.  They went home yesterday afternoon.  She called this morning to see if I was okay.  Marge and she went to Noblesville to do some errands for Marge.  And then eat out!

Me, I am staying in!  I didn't even crochet yesterday.  I didn't feel bad...just didn't feel good!

A belated happy new year to you all.

Last year was reasonable.  Would have been good but found out that I have cancer.  However this year will be wonderful whatever happens.

Since the diagnosis I have had to relearn something that I already knew from past situations and experiences.  I have re-learnt that God is in control.  I have such a peace in my heart, a peace that has taken the worry and stress and placed them where I can manages them without fear or depression.

We have such a wonderful God.

Hi everyone.  It was 22 degrees this morning when I went to coffee and not suppose to get above the low 30s today.  Last night we had a lot of wind as well as the cold.  It was a really busy day yesterday.  Unfortunately Georgia lost in the 3rd overtime of the Outback Bowl.  I just got home after being out all morning.  I had to stop at the bank to clear up a double charge for checks and then went to the tire store to get the air pressure checked as the low pressure symbol appeared on the dash display last evening. As they were airing up the tires the tech pointed out that one of my tires was separating.  I knew I needed to replace them so went ahead and bought a couple of new tires and had them put on, which only took maybe 30 minutes.  I still had time to stop at Aldi's for a few grocery items and get to an 11 am meeting.  As soon as I finish my lunch I will be resting for a couple of hours.  Pat has a bookclub meeting with the women of the church early this evening and then we will go out to eat.  (I read the postings since I visited yesterday while waiting for the new tires so will not make any individual comments today as I am ready for some rest.)

Terry, it's good to meet you today. May our Lord uplift you and be your constant companion this year.

Judy, thank you for that lovely song. I began my day with prayer this morning, and have already read the Bible and enjoyed thinking on spiritual matters.

Two telephone calls later, and the day's well on its way.

If any of you would like to make very inexpensive "coats" for your doggies, let me know and I'll send a nice set of instructions taken from a dollar saving newsletter.  It's now printed out and ready to take to our little craft room/sewing group. :)

Y'all have a great day with our Lord.

Ruth Ann I would love a copy for my girl.  She is what would be considered to be a medium sized dog.....A spaniel if that helps.

I'm sick...... lungs are full.  If I were a dog I would shoot me!!!  LOL.  I am drinking a lot eating a little on antibiotics, using puffers......I know I will be fine, but oh this is a bad bug.  Sorry for complaining.

If I'm not on for a couple of days you will know why.

JudyB:  This too shall pass.  Sorry that you are beginning an awful sounding bout of The Crud as we often call it - we have not had it for years and I hope it never comes this way.  Have the girls make some old-fashioned chicken soup.

We signed on for the AARP driving class once again and this one is a half day - goody goody.  All the other have been 8 or more hours.

We are struggling as Don is having to learn what to eat and how often & this isn't going well this week.  The dietician we spoke with was no help what so ever.  Sorry, I am feeling so sad over this today-- not a happy camper.

Thankful for good friends and our great family plus all of you in here.

Pat:  Sorry about the 'puter problems.  I hope that can all be fixed easily and cheaply.

Hi everyone and happy new year to you all.In Adelaide we started off with some scorching heat in the new year, over 40C but a bit milder today ,wednesday.
No doubt we all will  face some challenges in the New Year and will have done so in 2011. My prayer is that we can all keep our eyes on Jesus each day. If you can get hold of the small booklet "Looking Unto Jesus" by Theodore Monod this is a wonderful devotional to keep one focussed. It is one of the gems of Christian literature . It is right up there with "If" by Amy Carmichael and "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers.Terry I pray that you continue to know God's peace as you deal with your cancer.Christian love to all  from South Australia.

Brrrr!  Actually it is warmer today than yesterday morning but still it is winter!!  The house was cool this morning...in fact, the heat pump couldn't keep up and the furnace took over.  Glad I have a back up!  It is sunny and 27° with a breeze from the southwest.

Kitty put on Facebook that she lost her wedding rings.  When we were at Pizza King last week she almost lost them.  Last summer she had them re-sized larger...then lost weight!  Now they are too big.  She had taken 9 Christmas trees down and got them in the attic, gone out to eat at one place that was closed and ended up at Wendy's and back home when she noticed them gone!  So the next day she went back to the attic and searched every tree...then noticed a box that had items in it for Goodwill was tipped over.  She straightened it and there were her rings in a shoebox!!  47 years ago she got her diamond on New Years Eve and 47 years later, she lost them!  She said they are in her jewelry box until she can get them re-sized smaller!  She's a happy camper now!

Carol, what did you mean when you sent

QuoteEtta Sue: There must be chocolate balls wrapped in foil - yum.  Thank you.
I know I would love them!

Tonight is Crochet Angels.  After I told the congregation to meet at 6pm, I realized we did meet at 6:30pm.  Oh, well!  I am almost done with Chemo Wrap #4.  I will take it tonight and maybe finish it while there.

I had to put up all the yarn on the floor.  Inky finally decided they were there for her to play with.  I got tired of winding the yarn back up into balls!

Hi everyone.  It is a little warmer here today with no wind.  My day yesterday had a couple of unexpected turns that I knew would soon have to be dealt with.  First I took my car to the tire place to have the pressure checked and found that one of my front tires was coming apart.  Since they were soon going to have to be replaced for wear I went ahead and had them put on two new tires, which didn't take very long.

Last evening as Pat and I were eating out my front tooth, which I have been treating very tenderly for several months, finally broke.  So today I saw the dentist thinking it would be pulled but he convinced me that a crown should be done rather than pull itcan pull it. I already had the "flipper" made to wear as a replacement and hope I can adjust to it but he gave me most of that money back on today's bill except for the lab fees when the device was made.   I had to have a root canal and the crown workup and was in the dental chair for over 3 hours but survived it well.  I know this was the right decision to make.

This evening I have a business meeting to attend where I am the treasurer and have a new budget to present for this year.  So it is another very full day.

Judy, hope you are feeling better today and sure glad you are not a dog!

Carol, is Don a diabetic?  Our insurance agent told us retaking the AARP class wouldn't help on the insurance premium as we were already getting the maximum discounts.  Those were two long sessions in the last class we attended.

Geoff, sounds like you are in the midst of summer where you are and we are going into the worst part of winter here.

Etta Sue, I can imagine how distressed Kitty would have been.  Glad she found the rings.

I have been busy getting my house ready for company today. A friend from S&F is arriving a day early so i have to get the house vacuumed and the kitchen floor swept and mopped. I also did two loads of laundry and took Happy to Coquille (a 40 mile round trip) to the Vet. Yesterday was a busy day also and I was so tired and in so much pain by the time  I was trough with all hat I had to do. we opened a can of soup and had soup with wheat thins and cheese for supper. Tonight we are having spaghetti and broccoli on the side.

Etta Sue glad kitty found her rings.

Janet where are you?

Etta Sue:  That fluffy little animal had golden balls in front and they sure look like the chocolate candy wrapped - I forget the name.

Marilyn:  Whew - people arriving a day early puts you into the fast mode.  Enjoy  the visit.

Larry:  We dropped AARP insurance when we found another plan with more benefits and much less cost.  Yes, AARP has a great system & we were satisfied but not with the percentage they pay for lobbying.  Yes, Don has the beginning of diabetes but his numbers are normal range with meds so all is going well except he has had a few weak spells even after eating correctly.  Much to learn.  I am quite dreading travel & having to carry food and so forth.  Sorry about three hours for you in the dreaded chair.

Could not think of why I was so tired and could it be I walked three miles this morning?  This is lower altitude so I should be in better condition.  We went to a huge shopping center that had three stores for my sewing supplies & information on classes but when will there be enough time.  Quilt group meets tomorrow morning and I will finally get there this year and see what they are doing - if own sewing or group projects.  So much to do - so little time.

Found my little book "Grace for the Moment" by Max Lucado - it is just perfect by the bedtime.

So, I'll just report in.  Today was one for taking someone to the doctor, then I slipped in a little "beauty sleep." (Well, that's what we call it, but somewhere along the line, be beauty part ran off to the Land of Nod, methinks  ;) ) Then, my sweet DIL is in town and wanted to meet for dinner. What a nice day it has been!!

Much love to all,

Hi everyone.  Well sometimes our days don't turn out as we anticipate and yesterday was one like that for me. I had a good nights sleep and seem to be recovered from that marathon 3 hours plus in the dental chair yesterday.  So far no problem with the temporary and was cautioned not to bite anything, including a sandwich with the temporary tooth.  My meeting last night turned out to be longer than usual but went well.  I now have to get the books set up for 2012, which will be my last year as treasurer of this organization.  Should have a quiet day to. The head of the Senior Golden Games is coming over at 5 pm so I can help him make up a flyer about the up coming games.

Marilyn, hope you have a lovely visit with our mutual friend.  She posted on another discussion board that she would be stopping in your area.  Hope you are feeling better today as know back pain is tough to endure.

Carol, I agree with you on AARP and dropped them quite a few years ago as felt they lost their focus and had become too partisan.   Regarding diabetes, my father was able to control his with diet until he was hospitalized toward the end of his life and then had to start taking insulin.  My mother watched over his diet very carefully and he was good to exercise control in that regard as well.

Ruth Ann, glad you had such a nice day yesterday.

Larry, Sandy arrived just after dark last evening. She is out and about this morning  to meet with Jane, then Nita this afternoon. She didn't sleep well last night after that long drive down the coast yesterday so I suggested she come back here to stay for another night before she continues down the coast to San Francisco. So today is a relaxed day for me I got it all done yesterday.

I went to the gym this morning and I think I will take in the yoga class today, I haven't gone for about 1½ years until last Thursday. Maybe I can stretch out  some of the back pain. There are some great yoga  exercises for back pain. It has moved up my back to between my shoulder blades  must below the base of my neck. I hurts when I move my head.

We had 4 of us at Crochet Angels last night.  They are all jazzed about making Chemo Wraps.  One had one already started.  One started one last night.  And one finished a hat and will start a Chemo Wrap as soon as I get her some yarn from the volunteer at the hospital.  Me?  I started another one and will finish the Blue Chemo Wrap when I have about 2 hours to spare.

Tony came to see me this morning.....how?  On his cycle!!!  It was 28° when he drove in.  His first ride of 2012!  I guess I did raise a dummy after all... ;)

Tony and I got free text messaging on our Droids.  I see Larry has TextPlus also.  And Kitty and I have been texting back and forth!  Will see how that is working since she just has regular texting.  Maybe replying to me!  Anyway, I am going to her house and then we are going to Anderson to a couple of stores...she said the new Hobby Lobby!  Didn't know there was a new one!

Gotta get something to eat!

Etta Sue, I want to go to the new Hobby Lobby with you!!

Marilyn, here I am!  I haven't been getting my email notifications, and since I depend on them, I got behind in here.  Sorry.

Lots happening in my life!  I learned they are making my book in hard cover as well as paper back, and I ordered books today!!  So much to learn about marketing books!  And I took some money I have been saving and opened a special account just for my book, at the bank.  I wanted to be able to keep close tabs on how I am doing with sales.

So, would each of you who has asked for a book please send me an email with your address, and tell me if you want the paperback or hard back book?  The paperback is $14.99 plus postage of $2.41 and tax; and the hardback will be $25.00 plus tax and postage.  They told me the hardback looks "really classy" so I am anxious to see the real thing!  They said I will have the books in 15 working days, maybe sooner.  Do I  sound excited?  I am!!  :D

Curtis has built me a website, and I will be telling you about it after I check it out.

Sorry I got so far behind, will try not to let that happen again.

I am up late again.  As usual.
Janet, I sent you an email requesting one of your books.  Can hardly wait to read it!

Jeanne, you mentioned Wilton recently.  Is that the town where you live?  I grew up in another Wilton, the one in southwest Arkansas.  Very small town...the city limits sign said 319 residents!

We have been dealing with troubles in our furnace.  Why do these things happen in winter?  Recently, a city employee was out in our alley buzzing around, and I went to the window to see what was going on out there.  A fork lift thingy with a canopy on top, was really making tracks fast out there, back and forth, whipping around etc.  I was hoping he would not hit our fence, but he did worse, he hit and ruined our gas meter.  Two days of frustration and we had gas and heat again.  We could not go elsewhere on account of Earl's oxygen converter.  We used electric space heaters to get by. The city will have to pay for the original repairs....the person on the forklift was removing our old dumpster and putting in a new one.  He deserved to get fired over that dumb stunt!

But the furnace has been acting up ever since, have had repairmen out here twice this week to work on it.  It sure can get cold in this house!

Our state is 100 years old today!  No one pays much attention to our state, and many do not know where it is.   The last page of the New Mexico Magazine always has "One of our 50 is missing" meaning a story of someone somewhere not knowing where it is, or even that it is one of the states.

In fact one of the articles several years ago said a New Mexican had ordered something from another state and got the notice back, "We do not ship outside the U.S."

We were in VA one summer for a week, and I went to a beauty shop there to get my hair done.  The girl asked where I was from, and I told her.  Her reply:   "New Mexico...hmmm, that is the other side of California, isn't it?"   I told her "No, that is the Pacific Ocean."

Hi everyone.  We are looking forward to a nice warm day here today and the next couple of days.  Yesterday was a beautiful day here.  I had a nice quiet day yesterday other than to prepare a flyer on the Senior Golden Games late yesterday afternoon.  Today should also be quiet and have a few projects I want to work on here in my office but other than coffee should be able to stay home.

Marilyn, glad you have the opportunity to visit with Sandy.  Sure hope the gym helps your back.  Pat thinks she is having a lot of arthritic pain in her neck and upper back, just what she needs is some more pain on top of the fibromyalgia and trying to get over respiratory problems.

Etta Sue, I take it you don't think much of Tony riding his motorcycle when it was so cold.  My son uses a motorcycle to get to his work if it isn't raining or too cold.  I do have TextFree but also have unlimited texting on my phone plan so can be texted using my home number without additional cost.  I have kept the TextFree program as have one friend who doesn't have texting on his phone.  However, I don't really do many text messages.

Janet, I am excited for you with the book and will be e-mailing you shortly with my address and the information.  Would orders done through your website be easier for you than individual requests?

Janice, carelessness on the workman's part has created a lot of problems for you that just weren't necessary.  Hope the furnace problem is fixed quickly.  I know where New Mexico is and have been in your State when I came through it on the train many, many years ago and I think we stayed overnight with friends of my grandmothers.  It is really sad that our own people don't at least know where our 50 states are located.

Thanks so much, Larry and Janice, for the book orders.  I will be sending those just as soon as they arrive here!

Larry, I don't know yet if the website would be easier.  Curtis is going to set it up with PayPal, and I will have to learn how that works.  I have used it for paying on other sites, just don't know how it works from the other end!  ;)  Glad you had a slower day yesterday.  Mine was anything BUT slow!  Whew!

Janice, that dork with the forklift should be fired and should have to pay for the service calls on your furnace and the extra on your electric bill!  :idiot:  I have heard similar dumb remarks about New Mexico, too, and am always amazed how people can grow up and not learn more about their homeland.  I love New Mexico; it is so beautiful!  At least parts of it are, like everywhere else, it has the not so lovely parts as well.  I guess that is to make us appreciate the beauty when we find it.

This morning I will go to Pat's and put color on her hair, and she will style mine.  And the rest of the day will be busy, as well.  I am wanting to do more toward getting the house back in order, stuff like getting my paintings hung up again and the rest of the kitchen stuff put away.  Lots left to do around here!  But my kitchen is SO beautiful!!

I wish you all a joyful, peaceful day.

Hello Etta Sue I would like to know more about your crochet angels please.  I Know I don't live near by but it does sound interesting.  I would like to say I love this site.  My health is, well lets just say I am blessed beyond belief everyday.  At the moment I am not even able to drive and I am only 43.  I am blessed to have a wonderful God fearing Husband and 2 wonderful children.  I would like to ask for prayer for myself I know that sounds selfish, but I see a Cardiologist this coming Tuesday, ENT Dr. the next Tuesday and then my Nerologist on the 26 of Jan,  I don't want to be a burdine for any of you. So please if I am please let me know.  Etta Sue please send me more info.  With prayers Marlo

Marlo, there is no way you could possibly be a burden on this site!  I am adding you to my prayer list, that the Lord will give wisdom and insight to your doctors and His strength and peace to you.  Please keep posting here and let us know how your doctor visits turn out - as well as any other things that are going on in your life.

Janice, the Wilton I mentioned is another small a few miles from me, on the other side of a mountain.  The Adirondack Northway has an exit there, with a very popular truck stop just off the exit and Bonsey mentioned some time go that he sometimes stops there.  We agreed that the next time he's in this area he'll let me know so we can get together.

Janet, I wish I could say "Put me on the list", but I'm afraid my budget won't stretch enough.  You do have my prayers and best wishes, though, for all kinds of success.

Jane, "thanks" just doesn't say it!  You could never know the surprise I got to see your wonderful offer - and I need you to send me a tissue to dry my eyes.  :'(  My stubborn pride wants to say "Oh, no.  I can't accept that." And then there's a whisper in my ear "Let her reap the blessings."  So, dear, dear Jane, I will do just that.

This has started me remembering that first year of SeniorNet when we all met and began our wonderful cyber family - very tentatively at first, and then closer and closer until now in this wonderful site that Pat has provided we are truly brothers and sisters in Christ.

Marlo ~ I attend a small Christian church.  A few months ago a young woman mentioned about wanting to start a crochet group.  So we call ourselves 'Crochet Angels--busy hands working for God'.  In a town near us is a home for abused women.  For Christmas our Crochet Angels group made 39 items for the home...hats, scarves, mittens, etc.  Some in the group had never held a crochet hook...some had but it had been a long time.  So since I have crocheted for 50 years, I am the one critiquing their work and furnish them patterns to go by.  Since the new year we have started making Chemo Wraps...26-32" wide by 46-60" long!  Then we donate them to the local hospital for chemo patients to wrap around their shoulders while receiving chemo.  The chemo liquid is room temperature and your body is a lot warmer so the chemo makes the patient chill until the body warms it up.  The patient chooses their wrap and it is theirs.  So, sadly to say, there will always be a need for Chemo Wraps!

Janet ~ I sent you a PM on here.  I don't have your email address!  What?  I was surprised that I didn't but probably lost it in my email list last year when I had Windows re-installed.  I will check on FB to see if your email address is there.  I don't use Pay Pal so will send you a check.  Can't wait!!

Kitty got a guard on her wedding rings and the new Hobby Lobby looks like any other Hobby Lobby...just in a new place where the old Walmart was.  They closed the old one...about a mile north of this one.  Anderson used to be a General Motors town....Delco Remy and Guide Lamp.  Since they both closed years ago, Anderson is becoming a ghost town.  Everything has moved south on a highway which makes it easier for me.  Sears is closing this month.  So it was probably a good move for Hobby Lobby to move where there are other stores open for business instead of empty shells.

Kitty loaned me her Bread Machine.  Now to go to the store and get a bread mix to see how I like it!

And I am ashamed to say it but I didn't get out of bed until almost 11am today!!  The bed was warm and the room was cool.  I didn't want to get out of a warm bed and dress in a cool room.

Then while drinking my coffee and here at the laptop, Ivalou came over.  She seldom comes over here.  It was nice.  Loved it but the living room looks a mess with yarn in bags here and there!  Busy mess that I am working to diminish!

Bright and sunny today with temperature to get to 50°!  Looks like summer out there!  May have to put on cooler clothes!!

Etta Sue is the a particular stitch that you use?  And I am willing to help if you just let me know where I would need to send them when they are done.  I have a Ministry called Sisters in Christ and I crochet what I call prayer lap blankets.  I still don't think anyone in the community other that the individuals that pass them out for me know where they come from.  What I do is I know that there are a lot of Teachers in the system that are struggling and I know the principal at my sons middle school.  They have a prayer group.  I get her a blanket she places it in the cubby hole at school and know one knows where it comes from.  There is a not with a scripture of encouragement from the word of God.  He gets the credit know one else.  I also do flower arrangements when my hands will not allow me to crochet.  I have pictures and as soon as I can get into the gallery I will post some.

Janet I would like to know a little more about your book.  I might want to be on that list.

Thank each of you for you kindness and loving words.  Marlo

Hi Marlo it is good to see you here. I will  also pray for you  the same as Jeanne and Jane are praying Amen to that.

Jane may I borrow your book after you finish reading it.

Janet my budget is tight too so I don't think I can afford to buy  the book, as much as i do want to read Beth's story and how Neurofibromatosis has effected/affected her life. I always mix that up.

I am going to be staying off the computer for a couple of days  except to check in and to read what everyone has been doing, I need to get rid of the pain in my shoulder and back. I don't know that cause but it won't hurt to test and see if it is the computer and work I do with the mouse when creating images.

I have Asked for healing from Jehovah Jireh as he is the God who heals me.

Hi Marlo!

I'm so glad that you found your way to our "Coffee Shop" on CP!!!  But I'm sorry that you aren't well.  Definitely, I will remember you in prayer as you undergo the tests that are in your future.

Wow!  More nice surprises for me when I turned my computer on tonight!

Thanks for the book orders, the kind words and encouragement, and Marlo, it is so nice to have you with us.  I also will pray for you, knowing God is still in the healing business, and He always hears our prayers.

My book is called Rising Above:  Facing the Dragon of Neurofibromatosis.  It is the story of my daughter Beth's life, her struggle with Neurofibromatosis and how it changed her life; her wonderful spirit and attitude while going through many trials, and how God has been our constant source and strength through the years.  She asked me to write it, and God allowed me the privilege.  It is being published by Tate Publishing.  I just ordered the first batch of books and am anxiously awaiting their arrival.  Our prayer is the book will be an encouragement to anyone going through tough times, also will educate people about that condition.

Jane, aren't you a wonderful friend?  What a blessing, for you to order a book for dear Jeanne.  Thank you!

Marilyn, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well.  Hope you get well really soon!

K-State is playing Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl--and not doing well.  :(  I was hoping they would win.  We went down to the kids' and watched the first half, then decided to come home and watch whatever was left. We had too much good food again.  I need to begin another fast.

:)Good evening to all on C.P.  :)  It has been a while since I have been on site and have missed it but I have gone over some on the last posts and am up to date on some.  It is good to here some of the good news but also sad to her of sickness but we know that the Lord will look after all of us.

We have had a very busy Christmas and the New Year was a bit quieter which was good most of our children and there children were here at our place and we were up north at our sons also so that kept us going.  Noreen gets so tired so easy and her back continues to give a lot of pain.  So please continue to pray for her. :coffee:

Marlo and Larry Welcome to C.P. and it is nice to see that you feel part of the C.P. family where do you live and we hope that we all can pray for you .  May the Lord give you the strength that you need .
Larry and Pat.  Hope that you and Pat are well.  How is your son and daughter?

Pat.  I like your new picture. How is the eye doing and how is Paul? Love ya Sis.

Well I have to meet a young man tomorrow his name is Corey and you could pray for him as he needs encouragement to go to church and also meet with young Christian s of his own age.

Well I must get to sleep so good night to all  Our love in Christ.  Gordon and Noreen :cp: :pine: :bananadance: .

Hi everyone.  Enjoyed a fairly quiet day at home yesterday.  I got an email from the president of our Senior Golden Games saying a link on the website wasn't working.  I checked it it our the folder containing the files needed for that link had disappeared from our server.  So I am in the process of recreating the thirty some individual files to be able to restore that link.  It was the rules for the games.  I did have the hard copies from which I created the files originally.  It will take several more hours of work to put things back like they were.

Today we had planned to visit with our daughter in Atlanta but she isn't feeling up to having us visit and going out to lunch so will try to get there sometime next week.  The weather is beautiful here and was up to about 60 degrees yesterday or higher.

Janet, Paypal works easily and effectively.  I think you will like it.  We use it anytime we can when ordering from an internet site.  Sure glad you are pleased with your kitchen.

Marlo, thanks for posting.  Sorry to read of your bad health and you certainly aren't burdening us as we all need a place where we can talk about the things that are important to us, like our health. (I see others have already assured you that you are not be a burden).  Many of us on this site also have health issues that are written about from time to time.  It sounds like you have a very positive attitude and that is so important to our health.  My daughter is also 46, soon to be 47, and has many, many serious health issues.  We support each other by our caring on CP so please join us as often as you can.

Etta Sue, hope you like the homemade bread.  Nothing wrong with arising late if that is what you wanted to do.  After all you are retired and get to set your own schedule.

Pat, that is sure a nice picture of you next to your postings.  I like the mountain in the background.  Is that the mountain where the new house is located in Virginia?

Gord, you have been missed.  It does take awhile to recover from all the activities of the holiday, especially when we have guests in our home.  Pat hasn't been feeling very good the last few days but perhaps was feeling a little better yesterday.  She is fighting a respiratory problem along with the normal pains of the fibromyalgia and now the arthritis that seems to be setting in involving her knees and neck.  Hope your meeting with Corey goes well.

Hi, friends, in a daily online devotional message received this morning, the following paragraph really struck home with me.  Possibly it will be of help to you as well.

In our quiet seclusion with the Lord, we emerge with strong, enduring courage to face the challenges and to submit to the Lord, making us more perfectly into his image.
Wait for the Lord!

May our Lord be with us every one as we go about our duties today.

Love to y'all,
Ruth Ann

Duh!  I didn't realize the little envelope below a persons avatar is their email!  But I found Janet's address on FB.  Like I told Janet, the check is in the mail!!  Snail mail...not email!!

Marlo, thank you very much for wanting to share your talents with my church.  I would really appreciate it if you would continue with your ministry in your community.  Sounds like you are contributing to a great service there.  As for the Chemo Wraps, any stitch or design is okay as long as the width is wide enough to cover shoulder to waist and the length is long enough to go around a persons back and cover their arms.  I take my Wraps to our local hospital and give them to the head of their volunteer service.  They are for men, women and children...no one exempt from cancer... :'(  Perhaps we could share crochet patterns.  That would be great!

I have found that I don't run around as much, go out to eat as much etc. since crocheting Chemo Wraps.  Therefore $$$ is saved!!

It is wonderful to come here every day and hear from friends from everywhere and KNOW that some day we will meet!  I love you guys!

Good morning one and all. I am trying to get used to having the mouse down by my thigh on a drawer with a board to make it  much lower and there fore my shoulder will not be  all hunched up when I use the mouse. I am still going to take it easy for a couple of days and just read and check in to the forums where I participate. I will spend the time  knitting on a shrug that I am making for myself. I was crocheting it and decided that I wanted to knit it instead, so pulled out the part that was crocheted and made a sample  knitted to get the gauge. This is an experiment since I am not using a pattern.

Marilyn, I used my mouse on a lapboard on my lap for years because my desk was too high and had no computer keyboard pullout.  Still don't have one, but do have a chair that adjusts higher!  Whatever works!

Etta sue....hugs [[[[[[[ you]]]]]]]]] .  You're so special!

I got my receipt slips made and printed to send along with the books!  Now I am going to hang some paintings!  :)/color]

I feel like a new color today.

Welcome Marlo and hello to your guy, Larry.  You most certainly have my prayers as well as everyone on this site.  Tuesday is a big day for you, may you have a blessing.   I know someone who is originally from Danville but she has lived in Texas for years now - I looked at your map.  I am settled in a suburb of Denver just to the west & near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.  Thinking of your teachers and school officials.

Marilyn:  You couldn't stay away  8)

Janice:  I know where NEW Mexico is and isn't it a shame that geography isn't taught anymore or at least not well?  We usually stay in Santa Fe but drive quite quickly through the state - because, I always have some frozen food going in either direction.  I hope you get the furnace fixed correctly.  When I worked in Texas, everyone thought Seattle was in California and I brought a map in for them - astounded the group & they found out just where North Dakota was too - apparently not taught in school.  North of the Red River (the border on the north) they called everyone a Yankee.  Fun bunch of gals.

Janet:  I will order a book whenever we return home.  We use PayPal too - will check with you later.

Washed the windows three times, this Arizona dust is almost impossible to get off.  Still not perfect but good old arthritis is bothering my wrists now.  We went to Denny's for the $2 breakfast and came back to take a long walk around town plus stopped at the library to read the paper.  You have to ask for the special deal menu.

Well, a bit more has been tackled (and completed) in getting my home back together again, too. Janet, I envy your strength. However, am thankful our Lord is letting me do it at my own pace. I'll be sooooooo happy when it's finished.

Love to everyone,
Ruth Ann

:)Hi to all.  We have had a good day.  As I said yesterday that I was meeting a young man this morning at the coffee shop and praise the Lord that went well and it seems that his job is keeping him very busy and also his horses but also has a young lady but he also says that he does want to get back to church and he has a good friend who now is the senior pastor of a church in Niagara Falls.  So continue to pray for Corey.

We also had part of my wife's family here for today and tomorrow and of course the grand kids were here to so it has been a very busy day. :)

Larry.  Thanks for the reply hope that Pat will feel better and also your daughter have a good day tomorrow at the Lord house.

Ruth Ann Bice.  Glad to here that your house is coming back into order hope it finished soon

Carol:  I do hope that your arthritis will get better and stop hurting as much as it does and I do hope that you also have a good day tomorrow may the Lord richly bless you.  Gordon. :)

Janet.  I am as excited as you sound about your new book and I do hope that you have many many sales and can you send me your email address as I did have it but have misplaced it so mine is on my profile as far as I know.  Gods richest blessing to you and your family for 2012.  Gordon and Noreen.

Well will go for now and may the Lord be with all others on this great site.   C.P.   :angel2:  :cp:

Janet ~ One other thing!!  I know we would all love to have our books signed by the author!!  So pretend we came to your book signing and sign ours, too!  Love you!

I crocheted until my arms hurt yesterday.  Not liking this green one.  Olive green and Kelly green...yuck!  But that's the way it is.

I am all ready for church and should be heading out the door soon.  Looks to be a beautiful day out!  The ground is all frosty and it is cool out!  But it is January!
