Morning Devotional...

Jesus is the Way
John 14:1-14 NLT

"Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.  There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?  When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.  And you know the way to where I am going."

"No, we don't know, Lord," Thomas said. "We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.  If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!"

Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied."

Jesus replied, "Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don't know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?  Don't you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me.  Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.

"I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.  You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.  Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FStarblinking.gif&hash=27e115f9cd5672d07457eb7160f143473dc479d4)How would you rate your present level of understanding of Christ and his teachings?

Jesus says he is the only way to God the Father.

Some people may argue that this is too narrow.  In reality, it is wide enough for the whole world if the world chooses to accept it.  Instead of worrying about how limited it sounds to have only one way, we should be saying, "Thank you, God, for providing a sure way to get to you!"

Janet ~ I am sorry but that url didn't work for me to see Beth and John's pictures.  Could we try again?  Did it work for anyone else?

Larry ~ Now my question is...if someone comes here to connect to my wireless is my 'code' my user name and password?  If not, where do I find out what my 'code' is.

Church was great.  I found out that I am on the church council now...voted last week.  I am a Member at Large.  Well, I am large so they voted the right person in!!  And Pastor Steve is to be back next week after having two heart attacks early in December.  That will be nice.  It has been refreshing to have different preachers for 5 weeks but nicer to have Steve back.

Four of us ladies went out to eat at the new mall near here.  I never thought I would spend over $10 for a hamburger!!!  But I did and it was very good!

Now I feel a nap coming on....ZZZZZZzzzzzz!

We are in Tucson.  Renting a nice place - but the landlady has never rented before & we are having to jump through hoops to just have things reasonably comfortable for us.  Weird.

Our drive was very good with little traffic throughout New Mexico.   We slept much too late this morning and I felt out of sync trying to fix breakfast in the kitchen - but tomorrow will be more normal.  Off to get a few things.

Nope, didn't work for me either.   :-\

Thanks, Etta Sue, for fixing us a new, clean place for the week ... and thanks for the great devotional message.  True ... there is only One Way to the Father.  I'm glad for that.   ;)

Hey there, Carol.  Do you know Dawn Tucek?  She's in Tucson, you should give her a call.  A really special lady.

With that url I think there is a space in it that has to be deleted.  Perhaps that will work.  I am helping with a tough geography project, so haven't taken the time to try it.

Be back later.

Hi everyone.  It is cold here this morning, down to 34 degrees and predicted to just keep getting colder at night throughout the week until it is in the teens by Friday.  We are thankful for a nice warm house.

Janet, I couldn't get the link to work either.  I tried to edit your link and removed the space but that didn't help.  I also tried to be sure the capitols were in the proper place in the address line but that didn't work and I had no success in searching for that company on the Internet.  Perhaps you could access the photo to the point of putting in the password and copying that link and posting it here.

Etta Sue, thanks for the new devotional for this week.  I know you will be a good member on your church board.  Etta Sue, to find the code you will need to access the router control page.  Your instruction sheet that came with the router will give you the instructions on how to do this.

Carol, I remember when my folks first started to go to Arizona they had a hard time with the rentals.  They would be told it was ready but it would be filthy and mother would have to spend a couple of days of very hard work getting it into a livable condition.  It wasn't long before they bought a mobile home and used that for five or six more years before it got to be too much for my dad to make the trip.

Jane, I remember Dawn Ducek and I agree that she was a very nice lady.

Well, it is time to leave for coffee this morning.  I hope the restaurant is warm.

I have a light schedule today with only a luncheon to attend at 1 pm.

Morning everyone.  This has been a rough morning with the car not starting.  Everything seemed to unravel from there.

I spend time in the car on the way to work with the girls reading our Bible and studying a Psalm.  Even that seemed to not work today.  We read and studied anyway.  The girls were late for school and I was late for work......I just love these cold Canadian winters. "not!"  I have a hard time being thankful for them.  I know " In everything give thanks"  but there are days that is hard.  Do you find that too?

Enough of me whining.  I hope everyone has a God day and is able to praise God.  I am turning on the radio and that will help.

Good morning.

Hi Bonsey, welcome back!

I got bottle gas filled this morning.  My temp goes down a degree.  Terrible how much it costs to heat a home!!!

Ivalou called and she has to go to the drug store in Lapel so I am going with her for lunch.  Then to Dollar General for OJ and milk.

Tonight is Photo Guild.  That is always a fun time seeing all the wonderful photos from all the wonderful photographers!

Thanks for the comments on the devotions.  Thank God for Jesus....our way to salvation!

We got home about an hour ago.  The wind was terrible!  Gusting to 65 mph, really tried to blow us off the highway.  So we are very thankful to be safely home again.

Okay, about that url.....I am looking at the paper the lady gave me.  And I think I may have typed photography, and it says photographic!  So let's try it again........SouthwestKansasPhotographic.com   You will need to type it into your browser, I guess.  Then click on Home, then on Client List (move your curser down the list to make the names dark enough to read!)  click on Beth and John....put in your emaill and password is beth.  I just did all that and there they are!  ;)

Etta Sue, thanks for the lovely devotional.  I am behind, so will keep this short and come back tomorrow.  Thanks.

Janet those are such wonderful photos of John and Beth, she looks so happy. I am so glad that John came to visit her again and spent so much time with her. I am still praying for her.

Great devotional Etta Sue, Jesus is the ONLY way. You hear so much about  there being other ways to God. But there is only one way.

I think a cold might be trying to get me. But I am not accepting any old cold or sickness whatsoever.

Tomorrow I have to weigh in at Curves for a contest we are having. The other members of my team have already weighed in today. We are in a contest to see which team can lose the most weight in 6 weeks.

Etta sue  great devotional.

I am heading to bed shortly.  Have a good noght folks.

Thanks for a nice devotional, Etta Sue.  I hope that you will enjoy 'Dewey'.

I saw the pictures of Beth and John.  Nice and they look happy.

We have a lot of fog today.  Not rain tho', so that is good.  Lots of places are having terrible flooding.  The snow is still here, tho' looks grey and awful in the shopping malls and along the roads.

I went to Duncan, finally, to have a perm and get my hair cut.  After weeks of trying, got there and found out my hair stylist had to leave as her son became ill at school.  So must wait another week.  Came back and trimmed some of my hair myself..... :ticked:  That darn elf is still working overtime!

Did something rare for me these days...bought something for ME.  My back hurts so much, decided to get a computer chair with arms and better support.  Got in on sale at Staples.  SIL put it together for me and it is surely going to make life more pleasant.   I will use the armless one at my desk and it will also make things better.  Can get closer to my work.

Is your dog okay, Marilyn?  You didn't mention and so will ask again.

I have been learning bridge on the internet.  Slow work, interesting and think I will take some lessons in March.  Good for keeping the mind working.....or so they say.

Watched your president give a speech today and was quite impressed with what he had to say.  Wish people would stop picking on him and give some credit where it is due.

Time to go....I am tired.   Also not much to say at the moment, except that I think January is the worst month of the year!  Bah!!

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

Liz

Hi everyone.  It is 32 degrees here in Georgia this morning but the house is warm.  I just hope it is warm where we have coffee.  Not too much on the schedule today other than coffee, a meeting at 11 am and then one of the ladies that does a lot of work on the Golden Games will be here.  She has purchased the supplies we will need for this year's games and I will print out mailing labels for her from the list of participants from last year.  That won't take very long with the laser printer.  Then I will have a quiet rest of the day.

Janet, thanks for clearing up the URL for the pictures.  What a treasure to cherish by all concerned.  As has been said you could see the joy in the faces of both of them.  I know each of those days was special and the pictures certainly will help the memories.

Liz, you are having sometime getting your hair cut.  Maybe you are suppose to have long hair.  Glad you were able to get out and getting the desk chair with arms was a wise move.  We had a lady speak to our computer club who is an ergonomics specialist and she said one of the most important things we can do when working on the computer is to support our arms as this reduces a lot of stress.  Also being at the right distance from the monitor, approximately arms length.  It is also important that the keyboard be a the right height.  Of course, with an adjustable chair you can raise yourself to the height that is right for the positioning of the keyboard.

Judy, I can't imagine living in Canada and experiencing those very, very cold temps.  I have a good friend here who is flying to Minneapolis, MN this morning and I saw it was -6 degrees there.  However, both he and his wife are natives of Minnesota, having grown up close to the Canadian border, but have lived in the south for a long time.  Glad you made it to school and work.

Bonesy, good to see you posting and hope you will post frequently and share your stories from the road with us.

Marilyn, glad you are home once again and hope your contest at Curves goes well.  Sometimes competition is a helpful reminder to stay on course.  Hope you team wins.

Etta Sue, I know it is expensive to heat but as I once told my Dad when he complained about the cost of a special mattress that we had purchased to make him more comfortable, he couldn't get any comfort from laying on his dollar bills and we wanted to do all we could to make his days as pleasant as possible.

Time to leave for coffee and get this day started.

Good morning!  I'm so glad you got to see the photos of Beth and John.  That is the happiest I have seen her look in years, and it's good to have photos of that, for sure.  Sorry I messed up on the url the first time.  :-[

Liz, sorry about your weather; not much we can do about that, is there?  Hope you make the connection soon so you can get your hair the way you want it.  Good for you, keeping your mind busy and learning new things, also glad you got the new computer chair.

Larry, you will never grow old because you also keep yourself occupied doing things, learning things and helping people.  Good for you!

Judy and John, good to see you are both now posting again.  Looking forward to John's "stories from the road" and hope you have a great day today, Judy.  I guess those occasional down days help us appreciate the others and make us more determined to make each day a good day.

Marilyn, thanks for your prayers for Beth.

I have a chiropractic appointment in a little while, he wants to make sure I am back to normal; then Darrel and I have to go to Garden City.  I hope to get some photos printed at Walmart.

I wish you all a very pleasant and profitable day!

Wow the weather is terrible here today.  Somewhere between 10 and 25am of snow, this afternoon the temperature is to drop to -38 with winds of up to 50km/h (about 30mph). and these temperatures are to stay with us till after the weekend.  OUCH!  At this point I cannot see the road in front of the house.

It is a better day today, the girls off to school on time, the bus didn't drive by them either.  (That has been a bit of a problem for the driver because they are not on the bus every day.  I am having a relaxing day which is sure nice.

Janet i didn't see the pictures of Beth and John, on dial-up it takes so long for files like that to load.  Perhaps if I am able to get into work early tomorrow I will be able to do that.

Must go and build a pair of pants for a lady.  A difficult job because of an unusual frame.

Till later

Good Morning; Didn't have to weigh in this morning, they need one more person to sing up for the contest to make 4 four person teams. So we will all weigh in on Wednesday. Over the last year I have gained back almost all the weigh I had lost. this time last year I weighed 163 I am up 10lbs now. I also have to have a blood draw for my cholesterol sometime this month. I dread that one because of the changes in my diet in the last year.

When I got home yesterday I found out that my next door neighbor to the west had fallen and broken her tibia in 2 places. she has to stay completely off that leg for four month. Being a diabetic it will take longer to heal and her bones are more brittle. Please Pray for Cora Cox.

Today I have to catch up on laundry and  household chores, so I better get busy and get off the computer.

Janet ~ What a happy looking couple.  I just don't know how anyone will choose which pictures they want to print and keep!!  What great memories for both of them as well as their families.

Marilyn ~ Glad you are back.  Did you lose weight to help your team?

Judy ~ I think God gives us problem days so we appreciate our good days more...similar to rainy, dreary, dull days...when they are thrown in once in a while, it sure makes us appreciate bright, sunny days all the more!

Liz ~ I finished my book last night.  'Dewey' is next.  Looking forward to it!  My hair dresser is Ivalou.  I will mention that I hope my hair dresser has time to cut my hair this week and a couple of weeks later, she cuts my hair.  I don't like to TELL her to cut my hair....I like to SUGGEST I want it cut but she doesn't take the hint.  She is a procrastinator also so I understand.  About the only time I insist is before a vacation like Florida.

Larry ~ I know.  Everyone here complains about their heat bill.  It is just that the cost per gallon has only went down 25 cents from last year.  AND I don't have a clue as to what to do to lower the usage of bottle gas to heat!  Maybe spend my winter at Ivalou's house?  Do you think that would work?

Guild was great last night.  So much talent in our members.  Next month I am to take my laptop and show these PhotoShop users how I make my frames on PaintShop Pro Paint X2.  They always comment on my frames and want to see how I do them.  Was busy during the night composing my hour of tutorials!  I had to count my blessings from God and finally fell asleep!  It worked.

Did I mention that I am on my church's church council for this year?  Something like a Member at Large.  Not a deacon or elder, treasurer or trustee but a person from the congregation with voting rights.  They had a meeting last night but I had to miss the first meeting.  Normally they are the first Monday night of the month so I will go next month.

Today would have been my parents anniversary..happy day..but it is also the anniversary of my parents auto accident when Dad was killed and Mom was in the hospital for two months...sad day.  But like Mom used to say, 'All those happy days outweighed the one sad day so let's celebrate January 13th and all Friday the 13ths'.  We do!  <3

Etta Sue We haven't started the contest yet, so No I haven't lost the weight yet.

You Photo Guild club sounds like a lot of fun and a great educational source. So many pros to learn from, and you are becoming quite the pro yourself.

Liz I haven't had my hair cut in a year and it is almost to my waist now, I do need to get a very little trimmed of the ends to even it up before I move. I don't trust new hairdressers who don't know that I only want no more than ½ inch off at any time. Even when I tell them they still take off more.

Whoa!! Judy your temperatures at way to cold for me.

Larry when I plug into  the Router and start using Verizon do I have to  go to their website and give them my information and tell them I am on someone else's router and modem?

Janet i didn't see the pictures of Beth and John, on dial-up it takes so long for files like that to load.

That's my problem complaint  situation, too.   :-\ :'(  and I don't have a computer "at work" to substitute.  I tried several times, and got to 86% loaded, heard the music, but never any further.   I'll just have to take everyone's word for it that John and Beth are a very happy looking couple!   :'(

Judy, I can't even imagine cold like that!  I have been feeling cold here for a long time.  I think maybe it's something lacking, physically.  Last week, for the third time, I couldn't donate blood because of a low iron count.  This time there wasn't even a number on the little gadget that measures it .... just L L L  ???  The nurse said that it needs to be at least 10.5 to register, so I was below that.  I remember when we used to have commercials about "iron poor blood"  guess that's me, y'think?

I know there are a lot of prayer needs here, and I have been praying.  I may not post all that often, but I do read -- several times a day -- and pray as I read.

Y'all take care, and I'll be watching.   :D

OH Jane that must be why you are cold!  Are you tired as well?  Any idea of the cause?  I think you had better get this checked into.  You may have an infection brewing or something.

Thank you for praying. We all need it and I know there are many unspoken and unwritten needs here.  God knows them.  Folks know that I am praying with Jane......Know the verse "where two or three....."  we are praying.

KAssie spent an enormous time on the puter preparing a slide show for geography over the weekend and finalizing it last night.  Today I got an email that the program she used is not compatible with the school computer.  She is so upset and the rest of the team is upset with her.  Unfortunately I can't "fix" it like I would like to.  I resent the files to her they took 2 hours to go, thanks to dial up.

For those of you who don't know I call my wood burningfurnace a shark.  There are days one load just seems to sit and heat all day.  Today I can't stay on top of the cold.  GRRRRR Pat can I come and join you in VA?  It is still snowing and I am watching for the wind to set up.

Well I have to get going
Talk later

Oh BRRRRR, Judy!  I do hope the snow stops and it warms way up for you soon!

Sorry, Jane and Judy, that you can't see the photos.  They are the proofs, maybe someone who can see them could post one in here; I sure don't know how!  :-[

We didn't get home from Garden until after six this evening.  I'm about ready to stay home for a day!  We thought we'd go to their new A & W and get a root beer, so we drove in, ordered and waited...and waited...and waited.  After 25 minutes, we drove off.  That is ridiculous.  I do hope they hire some better help, I would hate to see it close right away!

Liz, thank you for your comments about our president.  I know he has made some serious mistakes, but he has also kept us safe since 9-11, and he is a genuinely good man.  I cannot say the same for those who are trying to crucify him, nor for a lot of the incoming people.  :P

My doctor says I can wait for two weeks this time, he has gotten all my kinks straightened out, I guess.  ;)

I'm tired, so will say good night now.  GOOD NIGHT NOW!   :D

Janet, I saw the pictures of John and Beth. As everyone has said, she looks radiant.  You can tell how happy he makes her.

Jane, I agree with Judy. See your doctor and see if he knows why your iron is so low.

I'm coming down with a cold again.  Little Maycie has had a cold for over a week, so she's passing it on to the rest of us. :)   I feel cold all the time too, but I think my iron is ok.   I can't seem to stay warm.  I sure love my heater.  I can't imagine the cold where you are, Judy.  Right now our weather is 50, and I feel cold.

I have to help grandson with his homework then we're going to try to find something on tv to watch together.  He's staying tonight while his mom is out of town.  Night, all.

Hello everyone...

I apologize for my absence during the past several days.  But I'm here now!

And it's cold here in Virginia!   But I'm happy I'm not up in Ontario.  I've been getting the weather alerts and it's very cold there and colder to come.

Our God is Lord of heat and cold, and He's our Lord as well, so I know He's given some people the ability to live in cold places.  When I was younger, I didn't mind it too much either, but that time has departed!  Where we used to live up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at 5500 feet it got quite cold, and I had to shovel snow about 60 days each year.  Couldn't do that now.  I like it right here where it's in the 50s or 60s every day - never over 100 and never under 32.  My kinda place!  May our God strengthen Judy, Ruth, and the others who live way up there in Canada.  Dear sister Jane - check into that lack of iron please!

I have a cold, itchy ears, tight chest, scratchy throat, runny nose. Pray for me is you choose. I would appreciate it.

A praise report, I have been praying for Gilbert's thyroid to be healed for 5 years, It has been healed and he thinks all by itself , but I know that God answered my prayers.

Today We just looked at the thermometer and it is
-30C.With the wind chill factor closer to -40C.
-40C is the sane as -40F. As a result there is a snow day, no busses were running.  I don't remember that happening before, probably because I homeschooled.

I have the stupid gastric flu.  I say stupid because it doesn't seem to want to let up.  Oh well I will be over it soon.

Pat Good to see you back.  I guess I need to go further south to get away from the cold.  John is in Minisota in the cold as well.

Have to be going, Jane let us know how you are doing please, I am praying sister.  Janet have you got a product down there called ColdFx?  If so try that with your cold.

Have a good day everyone and stay warm.

Judy, I don't have a cold, I think you meant that advice for Marilyn.  Prayers for you, Marilyn, and any others who are not feeling well.

I am doing household stuff today, laundry, etc.  Exciting!  But good to stay home and get it done!  I am working tomorrow, then have another meeting of the moving committee at the care home, so it will be a full day.

We have had a strange winter thus far, not at all typical of SW Kansas.  No snow to speak of, much higher than usual temperatures.  They keep predicting frigid cold fronts, they keep missing us.  I like it!  We do need the moisture, but if no moisture, then I like the warmer temps.  I enjoy snow; just not too terribly much at one time.  (Picky!)  ;)

I must go get more doing done.  See you later.

Woops Sorry about that Marilyn.  Try some ColdFx it does work.

Had an email from John.  The temp in Minisota was
-50F.  I thought we were cold.  Even the dogs won't go out!  They would rather squirm in their beds!    Mind you they are all short haired dogs, so we do have to watch their outside time in this cold.

I remember a huskey we had absolutely loved the cold weather.  We would bring him in during the extreme cold only to have him scratch the door to get back out.  No way would he stay in the house during the winter.  You could see the laugh on his face when he was in it.

Here at the rec center - our landlandy promised WiFi on Monday - it is Wed and we still have not heard a word from her.  Oh, people.

One year in Minnesota, on the north end of a lake the temperature was minuse 70 windchill so the real temp was warmer but school and work did not stop so I bundled the children so much that you could barely see their eyes and drove to the bus stop & watched them get on the bus then drove to work & came home to pick them up.  We had a Norweigan Elkhoud/Husky dog and Spike loved the snow and made his own little cave.  He also loved to pull and would pull the kids on X[county skiis or sleds.  He came home with the children from school and stayed with us.

Well, we are having Tucson temps in the low 70's and able to walk and even sit outdoors.  40's in the morning while our children deal with snow and so forth.  I need to buy a mattress pad or something - very hard mattress here & it is keeping us from getting enough sleep.  There are things we thought we packed and somehow are not here - so strange.  Tonight, I will make avacado tacos.

best to all - I can't get online very much.

Beef and Boards was a hoot last night.  So much laughing.  One of those plays like 'Laugh In' used to be...afterwards, you remember laughing until you were crying and your sides hurt but you can't remember what was so funny!

My phone rang and woke me up this morning.  Tony.  So he came to see me.  Not working.  Just worked Monday.  He works for IMI...he runs a loader at a stone quarry.  IMI is at a lot of places in the Midwest.  But he is hearing stories of plant closures and such.  Worried about his job.  So if you so desire, pray a prayer or two for Tony and Charlene.  So hard to find jobs when everyone is looking AND when you are 48 years old!

Then Tony left and Ivalou called.  Glad to know that Red Hats is cancelled for this month because there is a blanket of white outside and still coming down.  Saw my first snow plow today on my road!  Also saw a school bus on my road at 11:30am...must have let school out early.

I am suppose to go to a Projection Team meeting at church tonight but it will probably be cancelled also.  Traffic is moving but still snowing.  Only 17 degrees!  But not much wind!

That's it!

Etta Sue You are at a balmy -12C today.  I think I will come down your way and get away from the
-40C!!!!!!  If you are acustomed to warmer temperatures then that is cold.  I DO understand.

Do we have a math genius out there?  Elizabeth is trying to figure out population density, and I have a brain block too.  Area is 4km squared and the population is 66.  How in the world do you figure that out.  4 squared is 16, but is that how you work it out?  I am a blank on this.

Well got to run, I will be back.

Hi, friends, Well, I've been resting in a chair, so decided to rest in the chair at the computer! We're really working hard to get everything moved both for my son and me. Hopefully, by next week, I can sleep as long as I'd like to catch up on my rest again!

Jane and Judy, I've made a PDF of a couple of Beth and John's pictures. Jane, I sent it to you email. And, Judy, I believe you have my email address, so please contact me and I'll send it to you, as well. It's only about 67K, so should download very quickly.

Y'all take care of yourselves. I don't like cold weather, and it's terrible that some of you are sick. Do take care of yourselves.

Gotta go - need to get "revved up" once again.

Hi everyone.  I started to read the postings here this morning but didn't finish before it was time to leave for Bible Study at the church.  When that was finished we went to Dunkin Donut for an hour and then 8 of us went next door to the restaurant and had lunch.  I had a nice plate lunch so won't be eating dinner this evening.  We came home and decided it was nap time.  That was my exciting day.  This evening I have choir practice.

It is current 48 degrees here and nice and sunny.  We are suppose to be very cold, perhaps into the single digits on the weekend.  I feel for you all experiencing such cold weather and snow.

Marilyn, when you connect your computer to a router via an ethernet cable you should instantly have Internet and you don't need to notify anyone.  It is really the same as using wireless except you are connected by a wire.

Sorry to read of several of you not feeling well and hope this will be short-lived for you.

Ruth Ann, thanks for providing a way for others to see the pictures of Beth and John.  Hope the moving goes well.

Judy, I am not strong in math but wouldn't you simply divide 66 by 16?

Etta Sue, sounds like a good day to stay inside up your way.  It looks like your temperatures are declining today.

Carol, I think you got to Arizona at just the right time.  Hope you get the Wi-Fi connection shortly.

My daughter is 48, too, and her friend, Will, will soon be 49 ... this is their very deep concern as well.  Will is constantly working at trying to work ... trouble is that when he does get a job, he has to pay his workers and that doesn't leave anything for his own bills -- which continue to pile up and up and up .... Dot says he is really not able to work manual labor -- construction -- because of his physical problems, but he keeps trying anyway because of family concerns and rising debt.  We're praying his app for SSI gets approved soon and/or that he can get the type of desk job he is trained for.

This economy crisis is really tough on everyone.   :-\

By the way, I called the doctor this morning and I have an appointment for 8:45 next Wednesday.  We'll see ......

Next, I need to see about getting help for my little Neon.  It has a slow oil leak around the valve cover gasket and the "check engine" light is on more than it's off.  Each time I get the oil changed they tell me about it and that the oil guage shows low...  BUT  I need my car for transportation and if I take it in and have to leave it --- how will I get home?  Minor delemna, true, but one I have to consider.

Hi everyone.  It continues to get colder here and we are at 34 degrees this morning and the high is suppose to be 39 degrees.  Fortunately, after coffee this morning I only have to get out to go to the mailbox at the street this afternoon.  There is nothing else on my agenda of which I am aware.

Our daughter completed her three day training yesterday at the IRS and then they immediately put all of the newly trained employees on furlough.  The work just hasn't come in yet and they will be called to work when it has.  With this severe cold she was glad to be able to stay in her building for the next couple of days although she does have a doctor's appointment today at Grady to see her cardiologist so will be out around noontime.  She stopped at Krogers last evening after work and then decided rather than get back on another bus for the few blocks to her apartment she would just make the trip in the powerchair.  Unfortunately the sidewalks are not in good shape and at one point her chair got stuck and she had to get up and get it back on the good area of the walk.  She said she wasn't doing that again.

Jane, there are so many people struggling now with jobs eliminated.  I am very thankful to be retired and not have to face that possibility.  However, our son is still vulnerable to this concern as his company was having another big layoff and it may have already occurred.  He thought he would get by this one.  He is in the Human Resources department and does the payroll plus a lot of other duties.

1. Do you have a wish list? What's on it?  Just to take each day as it comes and to enjoy every moment that God allows me in this life.

2. What room are you in right now? Family room in my easychair using my laptop.

3. Are you afraid of spiders?  No, but I don't like them.

4. How many times did you move before you were 20?  two times

5. Did you grow up with pets? Cats and dogs on the farm.  All of these were outside pets.

6. What color is your car?  One is silver and one is black

7. What did you have for dinner last night?  Had a big lunch of meatloaf, hash browns, green beans and a dinner roll.  Therefore, I didn't need any supper although had a Weight Watcher's Fudge Bar after coming home from choir practice.

8. What's for breakfast today?  My usual banana

9. Catsup/ketchup or mustard? I like most of these but probably ketchup the most.

Good Morning folks.  It is a brrrr cold morning her as we are still in a cold snap.  -40C this morning, and it has only gone up to -30C.  Kass has kept the fire going, but we are going to have to let it die down as there is too much ash in the bottom to get anygood heat out of it.  That means in this cold the house will really cool down.

The dogs get frostbite on their paws.  We are going to have to get them some dog boots to protect that.

Elizabeth and I have been working on a Geography project.  Me doing the typing and her telling me what to type.  It is finally done.  Yesterday the program froze up and we lost pages.  It took time to get back what we lost.  Strange thing is we were saving as we went.

Bye till later

We didn't have our projection team meeting last night.  It took the minister's wife over an hour and a half to get home from Indy and she rides the bus most of the way!

I didn't get up until around 9am.  Got my shower taken and while I was showering I thought, I think I will go to WalMart when my hair gets dry.  I gathered my trash, ate breakfast, washed dishes, read my devotions and turned on the laptop.  WeatherBug came on and it was -4°!!!  That was a surprise since it is so bright and sunny.  But I didn't even want to walk my trash to Kaye Don's driveway!!

Ivalou called and said she had to go to the drug store...took the last out of one of her pills today.  She asked me if I had taken my trash and I said no but it was ready.  She said she would drive over and get my trash and leave the trash at Kaye Don's.  So I did bundle up and shovel off the deck and stepping stones...hate to walk on the snow and then you can't get the snow off.  It really wasn't bad out there.  Very little wind today!  But I am not going anywhere today!  Not necessary!

My solar heat is going!!!  Hurray!  JudyB, you are still colder than here but it is so cold here!!!!  Not used to this!!

I'll just stay in and practice on Sunday Plus and watch some TV.

Feeling much better today, I went to the Co-op yesterday to get some fresh organic Ginger and some local Wild Flower Honey, came home  made some ginger tea with honey and lemon, mixed up a  small jar of  equal amounts of Organic Apple Cider vinegar and honey to take for the cold remedy, (1 Tbls. as needed) the result  is I slept very well last night able to breathe normally and feeling better today.

Happy is at the Vet getting his paw taken care of. I am taking Bebe with me to work today and  to pick up my food box. She is being my special buddy today. I even took her along when I took happy to the vet.

Pat that could be correct, our thermometer has the sun on it right now.  It does make a difference.  Also the North Bay temperature is taken at the airport.

It is funny John looks at a tea towel I have hanging on the wall to see if the furnace is going, I look outside to see if the smoke is coming out of the chimney. Different strokes for different folks.

Good afternoon:    We must all remember that this is winter and as my hair dresser says what else can we expect.  Yesterday we went to the local Tim Horton's for early morning coffee, since retirement I sure enjoy not having to be up and about early but I even suggested setting the alarm - it didn't happen. After leaving there I went to my hair dresser followed with a short trip to the grocery store.

Today I am doing the inside chores and when complete you feel a burden has been lifted and later I will be sitting doing my find a word puzzle from last Saturday's paper.

Now to finish my computer stuff.         Ruth

Judy - it's my belief that "global warming" is a myth that is being foisted upon us by those who stand to gain from it one way or another.  There's no a shred of evidence for it.  The melting of the polar ice caps has happened before - cyclically.

Then there is the theory that the earth is actually cooling....to be followed about 2015 by all of us feeling like crispy critters..... ::)

God Bless,

Judy, I also think global warming is a bunch of STUFF.  With winters like you're having, if it gets any warmer, you will freeze!  :P  Some people will use anything, any theory for their own purposes (see John Kerry.)

I worked today, followed by a meeting at the care home, so have not been home long.  I'm pretty tired, so will probably not do much this evening.  When I popped in to see Beth today, she was feeling ill, thought she had a flu bug of some kind.

I had thought I would post more, but my mind seems to be on vacation now.  :-\

Hi everyone.  It is 13 degrees here in Georgia, which is colder than we have had in a long time.  It is suppose to get up to 36 degrees today and then really cold again tonight.

This is Friday so we meet at the Senior Center for the men's coffee.  My neighbor, who usually goes with me, called last evening to say he had a cold and was staying in and didn't want to give it to anyone.  I thought that was a good idea.  This is the only thing on my schedule for today.  I think I will sort through some papers and begin the process for preparing the taxes for last year.

I agree that the global warming is a hoax.  It seems pretty vain on the part of man to think we have the power to cause something of this magnitude.  God is in control and there have been these cycles before.  In the 70s they were predicting we had global cooling, if I remember the the situation correctly.

If there is global warning, why hasn't my purse/bank account found out?  My A/C hasn't been on since October!!!

Brrrrr!  I woke up to -5 degrees today but still, it is bright and sunny!  It is only to get to +3 and tomorrow a heat wave of +22 degrees!  But more snow tomorrow perhaps!  I was thinking this morning....in two months we are on the edges for Spring!

I didn't even have to go to the mailbox yesterday.  Ivalou brought my mail to me.  I have a feeling I will have to get it today and take Ivalou's to her if hers is still in the box.

I got a call from Kaye Don and he was saying he had on two sweat shirts and was at a Flea Market...cold in Florida.   I told him to come home and he would find out what cold was.  When I told him it was -4 he decided it wasn't so cold in Florida after all!

I am trying to think what to have for lunch that would be warm in my tummy!

It is a little warmer the sun is shinning a little windy and went I went for groceries the main hwy was drifting - yes it was the open areas.  The extreme cold had parts of Toronto without hydro and even now in some parts it has not been restored, the cause was a transformer due to water leakage.  Really  rest of us have so much to be thankful for.

I will be making Blueberry muffins in a few minutes. Care to join me for afternoon tea?

I am without a vehicle.  The antifreeze blew out this am, and I have no way of getting more.  Don't know what the problem is.... Missed work.   :ticked:

Have had three calls in  24 hours from couples or parents of couples that are in marriage problems.  It is so sad.  Sometimes the hardest thing for a parent is to back off and let the couple work out the problem without interfearance.  I hate to see marriage breakdowns. :'(   Perhaps that is why I was stationary today?

I will be home till John gets home to figure out the van problem.  That will be sometime tomorrow.

Have a good day everyone.

Judy, sorry about your foul weather and vehicle problems.  Maybe you are "being held captive" so you have more time for prayer.

Hi, Ruth!  Sounds as if you are enjoying your retirement and staying busy doing things you enjoy.  I would love to join you for tea and muffins.

I almost feel guilty for telling you that we are enjoying a balmy 65 degrees here in southwest Kansas!  The day started at 13.

No news on this front, just checking in today.  Now to go see the challenge photos.

We have WiFi and the disposal is working & I have figured out the little things in this house that the much younger landlords could not figure out - for instance, setting the speed on the overhead fan, fixing a knife block to stand up, taking all of the packed debris out of a vacuum cleaner ::) ....oh so many little things.

It is almost hot for us here and we went out and bought two shirts for Don and two short-sleeved blouses for me - at WalMart because Goodwill was too expensive and these are new.

1. Do you have a wish list? What's on it? The safety of my family and health and I would love to take a trip to work at something overseas and I would love to visit Sweden again

2. What room are you in right now?kitchen

3. Are you afraid of spiders? Maybe - if they are big & poisonous

4. How many times did you move before you were 20? At least ten and perhaps more.

5. Did you grow up with pets?Yes, strays one cat and several dogs

6. What color is your car? One is gray and the other is a tad off white.

7. What did you have for dinner last night? Avacado salads

8. What's for breakfast today? Scrambled eggs with a little ham

9. Catsup/ketchup or mustard?Mustard, please

Hi everyone from a balmy, sunny 18 degree morning in Georgia.  However, it is scheduled to reach 43 degrees today.  I am heading out in about 20 minutes to drive to Macon, Georgia to attend a weekend meeting that starts at noon today and ends at 1 pm tomorrow afternoon.  A good friend is riding with me.  The last time we went he drove so it is my turn.

Janet, glad to read of your higher temps as they will probably be headed this way.

Judy, bummer about the terrible cold and the vehicle problems.  Hope the damage wasn't major to the vehicles.  I think you are right about letting people deal with their own problems.  We can be an ear to listen but giving advice is to take ownership of the outcome, which may not be desirable.

Etta Sue, glad you don't have to be outside very much in the cold you are having.  I bet your brother didn't get any sympathy from you regarding his being cold in Florida.

Carol, it sounds like things are getting straightened out thanks to your doings.  However, it will make your stay more enjoyable.

Melody, good for you getting on your exercise machine again.

Ruth, glad you still have hydro.

3. My cold is much better
4. 37° here at this time in McKinleyville
5. doing a food journal for the next 6 weeks

It is warmer up here the cold has fanally broken and now we have snow,  That is preferable to all the cold.

John is on her way home, hopefully he will have antifreeze.

Tired today.  Stayed up with Elizabeth last night and had a good time with her.

It's really cold here in D.C.

We went out on a date last night.  We to a lovely restaurant for a fantastic Chinese meal with leftovers for today here at home.  Then we went to Walmart and had a walk around.

Nice evening.

I had a 'date' today with Aaron...nephew Aaron.  We hadn't been out together for a long time.  I took him to his bank and then we had a breakfast buffet, and went to WalMart.  I think that kid knows everyone.  He was saying Hi and shaking hands with everyone!

My lights went out last night.  Kitty's was out.  And Aaron said his was out.  Mine was out 2 hours and 10 minutes.  Then I was on IM with my friend in Mexico and my internet went out.  I turned off the power on the modem and back on and had internet for maybe a minute...then no internet.  I rebooted, turned off the modem again and back on.  Nothing.  Finally I called Embarq and he had me to turn off the modem, unplug the wireless router, turn on the modem and plug in the router.  I had internet.  He said they froze/locked up when the power came back on.

It is warmer today but the wind is fierce.  Snow is blowing across east west roads so my north south drive is almost clear!  It is suppose to snow this afternoon but so far nothing.  (Indiana roads are primarily north south/east west!)

I have to go to church early tomorrow morning.  I am working the projector again tomorrow.

It's such a long time since I visited you over here at CP - it's so good to see so many new ones have joined the ranks. I was drawn in by the current Mini Challenge and was so thrilled to see the inspiration of photography with God's Word!

So much has happened since my last visit, too much to recount, but I do pray for each one, that this will be your best year ever - more of His love, wonders, blessings and glory overtaking you.

Love, Karen

Yes, good to have date nights!  It's been a while since we did that, should do it again soon.

Judy, glad you didn't mess up the car (well, not you, but the weather.)  Etta Sue, glad you got power and internet back.

Larry, I do hope you get some of this nice weather.  They say we will stay warm for a few more days.

I am happy today because Abby is here!  Her Mom went to market in Dallas, she is staying with her Dad; and I asked if she would like to come spend this weekend with me, and she said yes! :)  Seems a long time since she spent any time with me.  Pat came out today and we made cards until nearly five.  Abby made some things for her room.

I have to be at work at 6 AM tomorrow, and I am dreading it because I'm hurting right now.  Stiff and sore in my shoulders and neck.  But I will take a pain pill and a hot shower, that should help.  Abby will come in and work with me, as I am the only cook there for breakfast and dinner.  But she doesn't want to get up that early, so grandpa will bring her in later.

I will be back when I can!  Have a wonderful Lord's Day!

Janet Try a hot bath with epsome salts.  That seems to help with the aches and pains more than just the hot shower.  Worth a try?

Thar weather seems to have broken the temp is up and is staying more moderate.  Even the dogs are willing to stay out longer.  Thanyou Father for beter weather!

Well John has been gone and I want to get off the puter and spend time with him.

Till later
Judy

Here in Tucson, the weather has been about ten degrees above normal so it is so nice to be able to sit outdoors and walk daily.

Larry:  Yes, it is good to get things arranged in this place as we have more time for fun things rather than fixing stuff.  Spending our time visiting and a cousin from Washington is arriving tomorrow.  He & wife are the ones who go to work every year at an orphanage usually for a month at a time.

By the way, I just set up Pandora with ABBA songs for a new station & just love every one they are playing - some, of course, are other artists but this is very gentle and soothing in their messages.

Well, another great morning running the projector and Sunday Plus.  I goofed on the first song.  You change pages with the space bar and I was nervous...I hit it twice real quick...then got lost and didn't get back where I was suppose to be.  Glad I was third from the last page.  I did it again later but got back on track real quick.  Learned!  Today was Pastor Steve's first Sunday back after his heart attack 5 weeks ago.  Good to see him.  His sermon was on 'Second Chances'.  Yes, he definitely got a second chance.

Later we went to O'Charley's to eat and then home.  It is warmer today and very little wind after a windy night.  Melting snow!

I was up early this morning...time for a ZZZZZZZzzzzzzz!
