Morning Devotional...

Jesus' Body Placed in a Guarded Tomb
Matthew 27:57-66 NLT

As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.

The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. "Sir," they said, "we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.' So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first."

"Take a guard," Pilate answered. "Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how." So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.

The religious leaders took Jesus' resurrection claims more seriously that the disciples did.  The Pharisees were so afraid of Jesus' predictions about his resurrection that they made sure the tomb was thoroughly sealed and guarded.  Because the tomb was hewn out of rock in the side of a hill, there was only one entrance.  The tomb was sealed by stringing a cord over the stone that was rolled across the entrance and sealing it at each end with clay.

But the religious leaders took a further precaution, asking that guards be placed at the tomb's entrance.  The disciples didn't remember Jesus' teaching about his resurrection, but the religious leaders did.  Because of his claims, they were almost as afraid of Jesus after his death as when he was alive.  They tried to take every precaution to see that his body would remain in the tomb.

If you had been one of the disciples, what would you have been thinking?  How would you have felt knowing that Jesus' body was in a sealed and guarded tomb?  How would you have explained Jesus' word about rising again?

This is what I have been doing today. I was at it before 7am.  Gotta  get in my PSP fix every day. I sure do like using PSP Ultimate X2. o only used my initials so the file would not be too large.

Etta Sue, a great devotional.  The last paragraph is one to ponder.  I wonder what I would have thought - done - said.

I got this one, with permission, from another of Pat's sites, Photography Cafe.

A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, "I know what the Bible means!"
His father smiled and replied, "What do you mean, you 'know' what the Bible means?"
The son replied, "I do know!"
"Okay," said his father. "What does the Bible mean?"
"That's easy, Daddy.." the young boy replied excitedly," It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving  Earth.

Good devotional, Etta Sue, and like Jeanne, the last paragraph makes me pause to think and ponder the question posed.  I'm so glad Ivalou had a good day at church and eating out with "the gals."  Social interaction is really good therapy, too.

Marilyn, that's a cute little bouncing thingy!   ;)

I have been on the phone trying to sort out things.  Our national painting convention is coming up in May, and will be in Wichita.  I haven't attended in a number of years; not since the last time it was in Wichita.  Anyway, three or four of us ladies will be going and sharing a room, so I'm trying to figure out which nights we will be there and which days, so I can try to reserve my classes.  (I know, TMI---sorry. :-[)

I went and read Beth two more chapters of the book, then came home and made her some tortilla roll-ups, then Darrel and I went to the dance class.  It was fun!  ::)

No news, I'm just being a Chatty Kathy, as one friend used to say.  Bye!

I did something today that I have never done before.  I went to a Junior A hockey game between our town's team and the Elliott Lake Bobcats.  I am not a hockey fan but I must say they did well.  They won 8 - 4 for the Bobcats.  The reason for the deviation from the normal was because our cousin in CA has a grandson on the team.  What an amazing young man.  We were able to talk after and I found a very polite, devoted Christian.

I have appointments in the Bay tomorrow, so I may not be around much.

Have a peaceful night folks, and a great day

Happy Birthday, Anthony!

Looks like it is going to be another gloomy foggy day in Indiana.  Come on Sunshine!  Come on Spring!

Today is Ivalou's first out-patient therapy.  She has Speech today.  And then we have an hour to kill and I have a cystoscopy at my urologist office.  If I am 'clean', it will be 8 years since I have had a tumor in my bladder.  I don't feel like anything is awry!

Ivalou just called me to see if I was up.  It is just now getting daylight and I had my blinds closed.  She couldn't see any lights on at my house.  We check on each other all the time...as we should.

I have two projects this afternoon.  One to turn my lift chair to its side and tighten all the screws again.  That needs to be done about every 3-4 months!  Another to take my insert out of my fireplace and WD-40 the wheel that makes it look like a flame. It is getting noisy!  Irritating really!  I can't remember if I can do this by myself or not.  Getting the insert out is awkward.  May have to call Kitty to see if she can come help.  I have been thinking about doing this for several days now.  Time to get busy!

Good morning, everyone.  There is a fresh 3 inch layer of snow - a heavy wet 3 inches.  But we didn't get the freezing rain and the icing that was a possibility.  And the temperature is heading for above freezing.

Etta Sue, sounds like you have another of your busy, busy days.  Love the graphic of the little boy and puppy.   :D

Janet, never too much information.  It's always great to know what you're doing, so keep all that info coming.

Hi everyone.  I had a nice weekend at my meeting and got home yesterday afternoon about 2 pm but was so tired I had to take a couple hour nap.  I feel much more rested today.  I had to miss one of the meetings as was getting too tired so just went to the motel room and rested.  It was nice not to be the one driving over the weekend as it was raining on us on the way down and all day Saturday.  We had to go from the motel to a convention center but we had been alerted to bring an umbrella.  Fortunately it wasn't cold this last weekend.

Today we are suppose to get up to the low 60s.  It is very sunny and nice.

Pat has gone to a quilting event this morning.  I have my men's luncheon at 1 pm and then this evening we are meeting friends for dinner at the Texas Roadhouse and then plan on playing Mexican Train with them.  However, we will have to see how Pat is feeling when she gets home as to whether we will do that or not.

Etta Sue, thanks for the new devotional for the week.

Anthony, happy birthday.

There are too many postings to try to make individal responses today so will just sign off for now.

Hi, friends,

I'm here to first wish Anthony a happy birthday and also a happy birthday to LisaMarie. May you both experience God's blessings as you move each day through the new year.

It's been a kinda quiet day today, but tomorrow has shaped up to be busy most of the day.

A friend called and needs help on his computer, It's time for another physical therapy visit, and then lunch with friends. Seemed as if my phone was really ringing a lot today.

Well, I think I'm gonna log off and watch part of the Predators hockey game. My daughter's love of the game has certainly given me an interest in watching, although going to the arena is kinda hard, given the steep steps to climb to get to her seats.

Y'all have a great rest of the day.

Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful, sunny and soon to be warm day here in Georgia.  Our temp is to get up to 64 degrees today.

We enjoyed our evening with friends last evening.  We had a good meal at the Texas Roadhouse and then a game of Mexican Train, visiting for awhile and finally a little piece of apple pie and ice cream.  We were home before 9 pm.

I am going with Pat this morning to meet the cardiologist at Kaiser.  She is following up on her monitored test she finished a couple of weeks ago.  I want to meet the cardiologist as thinking seriously of having him be my heart doctor.

Nothing else on the schedule for today.

I am starting over with my list of animations.  I don't know how many I have.  I will have to count them some day!

Well, I am really disappointed.  I truly do not like to return things.  But a $50 set of sheets should not be catching on my rings that I can't get off my fingers and they should not be pilling so soon.  They are 100% cotton made in India and 230 thread count.  I thought I was getting a great set of sheet the first time in my life but I am very disappointed!  I am taking them back...all they can do is say 'Sorry!' or give me my money back!

Nothing much happening today.  Just some laundry and a pot of smoked sausage, onions, potatoes, carrots and green beans on the stove!  The house is smelling delicious.  If the pot isn't too heavy, I may call Ivalou and share with her.  (take lunch to her)

Right at the freezing point and cloudy and gloomy out today.  I thought it was to be sunny today and tomorrow according to the weather report but what do they know?

Anthony - Happy Birthday to you........  :hb2:

LisaMarie:  Happy Birthday to you too! :cheer:

We spent last night at son's house just to be with grandson - we about froze in the bedroom and this morning I found the vent had been closed.  both of us are really beginning to be sissies about being cold and here we live in Colorado.  I don't mind if I have the clothes but there were not enough covers last night.

So, we are getting a few more hockey fans!  I like a clean game because it is fast and really interesting if you know what is being done out there.  My dad played on frozen lakes in Minnesota and our children did as well and also at indoor rinks.  Grandson is rarely on a frozen lake but when he goes out with a regular crowd you can just look at him and see how graceful he skates.  Me - I don't dare put skates on again - had a fall on my skiis and also my bike so that was two big falls and that is enough!

We took one grandson to visit daughter who has a new puppy - it is love at first sight.  A mix - rescued from Utah - just precious.  I wanna puppy!  :'(

Larry:  Wishing Pat the best in her checkup.  We like Texas Roadhouse & meet friends there about once a year.

Etta Sue:  Love the news about Iva Lou.  It is amazing to see her recovery and so quickly.  You are the angel helping your sister.

I am off to bed momentarily.  I have been really tired today so bed earlier than usual.

I had trouble getting onto the site...did anyone else?

I have to take Kass to a Dr's appointment then take our 4 puppies to their Doctors appointment.  They are getting their first set of shots, and will be ready for sale tomorrow.  They are so cute the girls would keep them all if they could.

Well have a good night folks and God Bless.

I got this animation in an email yesterday.  I don't think anyone can look at it and not be happy or, at least, smile.   ::)  Is he a squirrel or chipmunk?

Not much new.  I didn't take lunch to Ivalou yesterday.  The pot was too heavy.  I called her to see if she wanted to come over here and she said she thought it was too far to walk.  She hasn't walked on grass yet and didn't want to walk to the road by the way of our driveways.  She will venture out soon!  She hasn't been over here since probably August sometime.

She still doesn't write very good and I had gotten her a pocket purse calender.  So when I took her mail to her, I wrote the important stuff in the front of it.  She hopes now when she does write that she can read her own writing.  I think she does great!  I can read it!

Today is rehab and then we are coming back to Ivalou's and Bette is going to pick us up and then Jane and then we are going to have Chinese.  It will be fun to be in a different group.

Also I am taking back my sheets today.

Yes, folks, the site was down for a while last night.  It had been down close to two hours when I finally gave up and went to bed.  But everything seems to be humming along nicely this morning.   :D

Etta Sue, I love that new squirrel or chipmunk or whatever he is!  ;) You're right, you can't look at him and not get a "lift"!  What a shame those expensive "good" sheets turned out to be such a disappointment.  I hope you don't have any trouble returning them.

Quick awakening this morning as g-son had a text message that his school bus had been canceled.  We had to hustle to get him to school and then we just came straight home here - yes, we remembered to feed the dog and put her in the kennel area.

Etta Sue, I think that's a chipmunk, but whatever it is, it sure put a smile on my face.  Cute!  Thanks.

I had about one hour of sleep last night, up early for a Dr. appointment, then to work out, then to care home to read to Beth, home for shower and wash hair, to senior center for lunch, then home to my recliner and a nice nap. :dogrun:  sometimes I feel like this little guy.  I just hope I can get a good night's sleep tonight.

Tomorrow I have three appointments by 11:00, so doubt I will be resting much.  ;)

Darrel is already eating a bowl of soup.  Maybe I should go get one for me!  We made a big kettle of it yesterday.

Hi everyone.  I have a few minutes before leaving for choir so will post a few lines.  I have been feeling the effects of yesterday and have been very tired today.  We went to Bible study this morning and could have easily fallen asleep but didn't.  I rested two different times this afternoon but still feel as weary.  I do these spells every once-in-a-while so am not concerned.  Sometimes they last a couple of days and then I am fine.

Pat had a good report on her echo from yesterday that everything is fine and the problem she has with the fibulation is not anything to worry about.

We are under another flood watch in the Atlanta areas with a predicted 1 to 3 inches of rain in this section of the State before tomorrow afternoon.  Fortunately, I have no appointments for tomorrow other than to go to coffee at McDonald's.

Larry, it probably would make your lives easier if you had the same cardiologist. :)

I've really been busy today - taught that gentleman on his computer for 4 more hours, he took me to lunch, I got out of his SUV just in time to fire up the PT Cruiser and head to the shoulder surgeon, then on to get my hair cut.

Good news!! No surgery needed for the arm, and he thinks, based on my progress today, that I'll have an on-time recovery. He says these rotator cuff things usually take about 6 months to get well. Also, he feels that the messed up bicept muscle is responding well to the therapy, and shouldn't need surgery, either.

HOORAY!

God's so good, isn't He.

Janet I had a day like yours.  Pick up Heather, then to the Doctor with Kass, to Tim Horton's and pick up Jon,  and we all went to the vet.  The 4 puppies were weighed and given their first shots.  They are all heavy and healthy. I dropped Heather and Job off at home then on to Dougs, to hem a pair of trousers for him.  He could have done it but it was easier for Mom!  On to the drugstore and home.  Whew...I am heading to bed very soon.

I have tendinitis in both shoulders and the left shoulder is frozen .... whatever that means.   The physiotherapist said he is recommending  a diagnostic ultrasound.  Well God is in control of that and this.

I am rambling.  I am off to bed tomorrow will be a better day.

I have a 9:00 doctor's appointment to talk about my blood test results; then a 10:00 care plan meeting for Beth, then at 11:00 have to be in Hugoton to meet a friend at the care home there.  She is coming to do some entertainment for them.  Not sure what she will be doing, but it will be enjoyable.  So another hurry, hurry kind of day.

It is extremely foggy outdoors here, and everything is either wet or covered with ice.  I haven't ventured out to see which it is, but I hope only wet, as I do not like driving on ice.

I will probably check in again this afternoon after I get back home.  Got to run now!

Hi everyone.  It is raining and dark here this morning with the continued flood watches.  Fortunately, the area where I live is not prone to flooding so it isn't a personal concern but always feel for the people who experience it.  In choosing a home I have always wanted to live where flooding isn't a threat and where the land is higher rather than lower.

I plan on just staying in all day and working on the computer.  I have several tasks that will keep me busy.  I think Pat plans on staying in all day as well.  I am feeling much more rested today.  Yesterday was just one of those days.  I only walked a half mile at the gym today as didn't want to push it.

Judy, glad you puppies are healthy.  Sure hope Kass heals up quickly and has no lingering effects from the bite.  Sorry to hear about your shoulders.  It sounds like we need to shake you and Pat up in a sack since you both have shoulder problems at the same time.  You would think you were related.  :)  P.S.  I know this is no laughing matter when you both are the ones suffering.

Janet, you really have a busy day today.  Sure hope that isn't ice as you surely do not need to risk having a fall.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you received very good news from your doctor and that you can look forward to recovery without further surgery.

I did get my money back on the sheets and ordered some others on www.overstock.com .  Then Kitty tells me that she heard that sheets from Egypt that are 100% cotton aren't cracked up for what they should be.  I ordered 650 count 100% Egyptian Striped Cotton Sheet Sets.  I guess I will see.

After getting my money back I went back to rehab to get Ivalou and then home.  Bette was here in less than 10 minutes to take us and Jane to our favorite Chinese place.  A to-go box is for lunch today...all for $5.95!!

Okay, now for a funny.  Remember Ivalou still has problems with numbers.

Today is trash day.  Just before bundling up to take my trash and Ivalou's trash to Kaye Don's driveway, I noticed cars being slow on the road.  It was 33°F.  I opened my door and my deck was a sheet of ice!  But I had to get the trash taken since I didn't get last weeks to Kaye Don's early enough.  (They have been here as late as 6pm but I got it there by 11:30am and they had already been here)

I called Ivalou and asked her to put salt on her step and I would put salt down ahead of me and be over to get her trash.  Well, she met me at her door with her trash.  I got my wooden cart from her garage with all the trash in it and told her that I was going to put salt down in front of me so I could walk but to keep an eye on me.

Now here's the funny!  She said, 'I will watch and if you fall, I will call one-nine-nine.'

We both started laughing! She is so hilarious in that she laughs at herself!  She knew that wasn't right but the 911 came out as 199!!

Just hoping that the temperature raises today.  Another dark and gloomy day.  I am suppose to go to Christian Womens Fellowship and the pastor's house tonight.  Other than that...nothing else planned!

Hey there!  Just stopping by for a moment to let y'all know I'm still among the living.  :)

It rained a lot during the night, and is sprinkling a little right now, but supposed to stop in a while.  Today is exercise class, so I will be leaving in about an hour for that.  Other than that, I don't have a whole lot planned for today, either.  I like it like that!

When I say I don't have anything planned, that's true ... but I am always open for whatever comes along that I need to be involved with.  I have said, for many years now, that I don't have an agenda ... I just "go with the flow" and do what comes before me to do ... or not, as the case may be.   ;)  Makes life a whole lot less stressful.

Etta Sue, I am getting such a lift out of your accounts of IvaLou's progress .. and joy in life!  What a great example of sisterly love you two show!

Looks like there are at least three of you with shoulder problems.  That's not good.  Let's not make this a trend around here, okay?  Pat, Judy, and Ruth Ann ... Get better SOON!

I can't comment on all I've read here, except to say I am praying for those in pain and hardship, and rejoicing with those who are healing and becoming strong.

Gotta go now ... but I'll most likely stop by again later.

Looks like I have to take Kass to the hospital again tonight.

Had a really good sleep last night.  Woke up refreshed.

Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'

Kass has an amazing attitude.  I was angry over the circumstances and she kept saying "Mom its ok, God has a plan for this!"  She stopped me being angry!

Good news!! No surgery needed for the arm, and he thinks, based on my progress today, that I'll have an on-time recovery. He says these rotator cuff things usually take about 6 months to get well. Also, he feels that the messed up bicept muscle is responding well to the therapy, and shouldn't need surgery, either.

WOW, Ruth, that what you wrote and it sounds just like what happened to me.

Last Feb. surgeon said I needed surgery for rotator cuff and my bicep tear was worse than ever. He also said that I couldn't do therapy 'cause it might make it worse.

I, of course, said no, I will wait and wait I did. I remember my mom had the same thing wrong but she was 92 at the time and of course surgery wasn't an option so she waited and got better.

And sure enough I just didn't use it that much and because of the tendinitis(spelling is so wrong) in my right hand I just tried to rest the right hand and arm altogether.... Now it doesn't bother me enough to even talk about it.

Yes, GOD is so good,,,HE knows because of my work, I could never have my arm in a sling and have everyone do things for me--HE didn't make me that way!!!

I am curious though what kind of therapy/exercise did you do for your shoulder. My mom , now almost 95 , does something with a towel across her back :pulls from side to side.

Thanks Etta for the email--I will get to it soon and hopefully have it running on our websites..

Talk to you later, want to put a prayer request in for my cousin's husband, removed part of his lung --found cancer and yes, of course, he was a smoker

Hi everyone.  It is a cloudy and chilly day here.  We did have some rain yesterday but not the amounts they had predicted, at least for our area.  I have a weather alarm and for the first time I can remember it went off last night to warn of a severe thunderstorm in the near by county.  Glad to know it works.

We didn't have many men at the Senior Center this morning for coffee but had an enjoyable time, as always.  Three of us then walked at the gym.  I had a man coming at 9:30 so we didn't stay too long.  I am getting an estimate of the cost of putting storm windows in my screened in porch.  He was here only about 10-15 minutes and will have an estimate for me on Monday.  If it is too much we won't do it but would be nice to be able to keep it cleaner out there.  Whenever they mow the yard it creates a dust cloud and we also have to deal with mildew.

I have a friend coming in a few minutes and we will work on a project.  Then the rest of the day should be free.

Judy, sorry to hear that Kass had to go back to the hospital.

Joyce, you sound like a very determined person and that is a good quality.

Etta Sue, glad you didn't fall on the ice.  I am sure attitude is helping in the recovery program for Ivalou as a positive attitude is so important.

Jane, I agree with you that it is important to keep stress down.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable day today.

Yesterday's schedule got even worse before the end of the day!  When I got to the Dr's office, the girl asked how I was and I said, "If I were any better, I'd have to be twins!"  But when I left, I had appointments for three more appointments with other doctors!  :P :(  I think I will just stay away from doctors' offices from now on!  Ugh.  They want me to get a mammogram, see an ENT about a thing on my tongue, and get a colonoscopy.  I told him "I DO NOT WANT to get a colonoscopy!"  In fact, I told him twice, but he scheduled it anyway.  I feel very uneasy about that; Darrel had a terrible experience when he had his, and the doctor who nearly killed Beth has perforated the colons of three patients here while doing the colonoscopies; and my doctor told me that a doctor in Garden recently "lost" a patient after doing one.  I do NOT think I need one.........well, I will think about it, but I might just cancel the appointment.

Then I went to the care home for Beth's care plan.  She isn't doing well, so some changes are being made in her care and meds.

Then I picked up my friend and we drove to Hugoton, where we went to their care home and met the friend who was entertaining them.  She is a very interesting gal, a real cowgirl (to the bone!) and was entertaining with her ventriloquist doll.  We took her and met my daughter Diane for lunch, then came back to Ulysses where Tammie entertained at our care home and assisted living facilities.  By then, she was ready to spit cotton, so we went to McDonalds for a cold drink and had a nice visit.  Tammie lost her only child, a daughter, in a car wreck four years ago; and has taken her pain and anguish and is using it to help and encourage others.  She gave me a copy of the book she wrote about (and during) that experience.  It is titled God's Horse Sense, and is so good I couldn't put it down.  I read the entire thing before I could go to sleep.

So, anyway, that was my day!  Oh!  After Tammie left and I took Dee home, I went back to Beth's room to sort out some clothes she wanted to get rid of, and read her two chapters in the book we are reading..........I guess that's all I did yesterday.  ;)

Darrel and I are going with the Seniors tonight to Guymon to see a play.  It's a comedy, should be fun.  We will be eating somewhere in Guymon.

This has gotten too long, sorry.

My goodness, Janet!  Do you ever slow down?   :D

With the experiences and information you've had about colonoscopy I sure wouldn't blame you if you just refused.

I'm sorry to hear Beth isn't doing so well.  I pray the latest changes help.

CWF/Bible Study was fun last night.  Getting together with other women while laughing, talking, being serious and having fun is always enjoyable.

Today was physical therapy for Ivalou.  On the way there we decided to go to WalMart and then get something to eat after therapy.  Well, walking back to the car, Ivalou decided to get something to eat first so she could rest!  So we ate breakfast at Steak 'n' Shake at 11am.  Then Walmart.

I asked Ivalou if she wanted me to stay with her and she said that she thought she would be okay.  So I told her if she got too tired to find a bench and sit down for awhile.  I don't think I have done a thorough grocery shopping since September so Ivalou was done before me.

We came home and I brought my groceries in and put the freezer/fridge items away.  Then to Ivalou's to put her freezer/fridge items away.

The doctor office called Ivalou this morning to tell her that Uloric had been approved by her insurance and that her script was called into Lapel CVS and could be picked up.  Uloric is a new medication to prevent gout and since she took two generics, the insurance and the doctor had to talk so that the insurance would allow Ivalou to have it!!  Grrr!  But CVS at Lapel doesn't have it in stock but will have it Monday...for $108 for 30 days!!  Ivalou told them to go ahead and get it but now she is wondering is it worth it.  But she sure does hurt when she gets gout and has had it 6 times since July!!  So I guess she will decide!!

Anyway when I took Ivalou back home, she said she wasn't going to do anything else today but rest!  She is tired!  And so am I.

On Monday I missed my appointment for my colon consultation, I thought the appointment was for Tuesday. So my colonoscopy has been rescheduled for Feb 24th with the consult on the 19th, Janet it took me 10 years to make the decision to finally have  the procedure. My doctor said that if everything is fine  this time I probably won't have to have another one.

Fay went to be with the Lord Last night,  yesterday while I was fixing supper her nephew's wife called me to tell me that she only had 1 or 2 days left. I am so glad I went to see her on Christmas. her funeral will be in Bakersfield and she will be buried next to her husband. I won't  be going. maybe we will have a memorial service  later in McKinleyville.

Thanks, Jeanne.  No, I don't often slow down, but occasionally I do STOP for a while!  ;)  Thanks for praying for Beth.

We ate at a place called Hunny's last night.  The food was wonderful!  Ribs, chicken, cole slaw, beans, fried okra, and mixed white and sweet potato fries.  We sat at a long table (two of them, actually) and when they brought the bill, it came to only $5.75 each!  I was surprised.  You order the food items individually, like the ribs, and they serve huge amounts of them, enough for several people.  Then they bring you foil and a big grocery bag to wrap up and take home whatever you didn't eat.  It was nice we had a good supper, because the play was really dorky.  Cute costumes, but just a dumb play.  I know I could write a better one than that!  I just thought what a waste of time for so many people to put in all the hours it takes to do a production like that.  Oh, well........

Today I don't HAVE to do anything!  So I'm doing laundry, and I have a new little machine for a 30 days trial--a slice--and I'm going to play with that.  I will go sometime today and read to Beth.  It helps that I am enjoying that book so much.  It makes it easier to drop whatever I'm doing and go read to her.  ;)

I'm glad Etta Sue and Ivalou are getting stuff done, and that Ivalou is making such great progress.  Hav e you told her she has a whole cheering section here on CP, Etta Sue?

My coffee is setting here getting cool, so I am going to  :coffee: it now!

Now Ivalou and I are having a trash dilemma.  It hasn't been picked up for two weeks and Kaye Don is in Florida..he pays for it to be picked up at his driveway.  He called the trash people and they are closed until Monday morning.  I think they changed days and Kaye Don didn't get the letter in Florida.  He thinks it is because of MLK's birthday Monday...but it wasn't picked up the week before!  Just wish we had strategic dumpsters where we could take our trash instead of it being picked up but that isn't available in my county!

I recently found out my classmate, Rex, that lives in Mexico is in a hospital in Tucson.  His wife isn't with him because of being deported because of an expired Visa.  He is there alone.  He has had failing health since October.  Through his sister in Florida, I got his phone number and called him Thursday.  He has emphysema and his heart is working only 30% but he may be moved to another facility.  I called yesterday and he didn't know me.  I called this morning and another gentleman is in his room.  I just don't think Rex is going to get out of this hospital alive.  So pray a sweet prayer for his wife and him.

Another dreary day in Indiana.  I just would like to know who is hoarding all the sunshine!!!   :clobber:  Everything looks so dirty.  Even a snow would make things look better!!

Like Janet, I am having a 'don't have anything to do' day today!  I got my Reader's Digest yesterday...may have to read it this afternoon.

Did y-all just kip over my post that my good friend and former client Fay DIED!!?? Gee thanks folks.

Keith had to go to work this morning to meet with a client from Redmond and go look at a piece of property here in North Bend, So i had to rush t his morning a fix our usual Bacon, Eggs and Waffles breakfast before he left. We usually don't eat that early on Saturday.

I went to visit Fay on every trip down there  after I moved. and I am so glad I did. On Labor day she was still in her home but by Thanksgiving she had been in the  Nursing home for at least 6 weeks. I sure had some hard times being her caregiver, but she was  a very kind and giving woman. I never left there without some little treat for the dogs. Mostly it was something leftover from one of her meals. I even took the dogs to visit her and I took her on rides around the area even though she was almost blind and could only see shadows she loved those rides and would tell me from memory where to turn and what she had seen along the way.
Other times she was so stubborn that I left her house in tears.

Al, it is a little machine that cuts letters, flowers, butterflies, etc.  It is used in card making, scrapbooking, stuff like that.  I have it unpacked and charging, but forgot I did have something I had to do today--some framing--so I got that done, and now I'm waiting for the fellow to come pick it up.  Also doing laundry.  I want to just sit and read, but so many other things demanding my attention!  I am feeling a little envious of Darrel, who is just sitting and surfing TV channels--ALL DAY LONG!!   :P

Marilyn, sorry to hear of Fay's passing.  She did get to live a good, long life, and it's nice you got to be her caregiver for a while.

Guess I will go look at the winners of the challenge now.

Hi everyone.  It is a chilly day here in Georgia but no rain.  We went to a meeting this morning and then out to lunch with 8 other friends.  I came home and took a nap and am now trying to catch up on the postings here and my e-mail.

Marilyn, sorry to hear of your friend, Fays, passing but it sounds like she had a nice long life.  I know you were not only a caregiver but a good friend to her.  It is hard to lose friends and the older we become it seems the more of this happens.

Janet, I know you have to make your own decisions regarding the colonoscopy.  I think we all dread it and with the experiences you are aware of it is easy to understand your reluctance.  However, they do a great many of these with no side effects and the benefits of finding a problem early need to be considered.  I had one late last year and won't have one again for 10 years.  It wasn't unpleasant although no one enjoys the preparation.  Enough said.  You sure have been busy.  I just hope you don't forget to take care of yourself.  Sorry to hear that Beth isn't doing well and know this is a matter of great concern to you and your family.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you and Ivalou are getting back into a pretty busy routine, which is good, and being able to do things other than therapy and doctor visits.

Jeanne, Judy, Al and anyone I may have missed commenting to I was glad to see your postings.

Well John is home.  I waited up for him till 2:am only to give up and finally go to bed.  When he still wasn't home when I woke up I was a little concerned...only to find out there was a mix up with his trailer and he had to stay out another night.  He got a good nights sleep.... lucky guy!

I am doing better sleep wise. Getting to bed earlier and sleeping better.  Tonight will be another early night.  Kass has already gone to bed.  Elizabeth is in for her shower then she will be gone as well.

Watched a person spend over 500 dollars on groceries tonight.  That was between ouch and boing!  even at Christmas I have never spent that much.

Well checking other posts, I'll be back tomorrow.

Larry, I did fill out the papers for the procedure, guess I will go ahead and have it done, but boy!  How I dread it!  :P  Glad you had a nice day, and always good to read your comments in here.

Judy, I wonder how large that person's family is, who spent $500 at one whack in the grocery store?  And maybe they do not shop often.  I don't think I ever spent that much at once, even when all five kids were home!  Glad John is home safe.

I played and played with the Slice, now have lots of bits and pieces to use in cards and scrapbooks.  They only sent one memory card with it, though, so it's limited what I can do with it.  But I did finally figure out the basics.  If I didn't already own a Cricut (does similar stuff, but a larger machine) I would consider keeping this one.  But I think even at that, I would wait, as they always make improvements and usually lower the price after a while.

It is time to put this weary body to bed.  My day of rest turned into a day of work after all, so I am tired.

Want to try a smile?

A group of 40 years old ladies discuss and discuss where they should meet for dinner.

Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen restaurant because the waiters there are young and very handsome.

10 years later, at 50 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because the food there is very good and the wine selection is good also.

10 years later at 60 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because they can eat there in peace and quiet and the restaurant is smoke free.

10 years later, at 70 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because the restaurant is wheel chair accessible and they even have an elevator.

10 years later, at 80 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because that would be a great idea because they have never been there before.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Whew!  What a night of wind and rain.  Sounded like April out there!

I know how satisfying and frustrating being a caregiver can be.  I recently was one and am still one half the time.  I used to visit home bound people when I lived in Greenfield.  Those loving ladies still come to my mind often.  So I know how they can touch your heart and make you a better person.

I am all ready for church.  I am running the projector again and was going to get Ivalou at 8:45am.  She just called and said she wasn't going...because it is windy and raining.  She said yesterday that her balance wasn't as good and is afraid she will get over-balanced by the wind.  I will be so happy when the weather gets good and she won't have any excuses but I am not her so I don't know what she is thinking.

Ivalou self-analyses too much.  That's what got her in trouble in September.  But she goes to a neurologist tomorrow afternoon.  Maybe he will talk to her!

Title: Re: Thoughts for the Week~January 17

Hi everyone.  We are under another flood watch and can have some high winds, although the brunt of the storm may go to the south of us.  It is chilly and a bit foggy here this morning.

We will go to church this morning and then out to lunch.  Our choir is singing this morning an anthem that the minister requested to fit in with his sermon.

I just opened my telephone bill and found that I had a scam charge on it of $19.95.  I did an internet search and many people have been scammed by this same company.  The telephone company just passes on the charge and accepts no responsibility.  Pat and I talked about it and think it may be time to switch to cell phones and eliminate the ATT phones in our house.  I will call ATT tomorrow and ask for a credit but it isn't likely they will agree and people are only getting a run around when they call the 800 number that is shown with the billing.  Very aggravating, to say the least.

Liz, I liked your funny.

Judy, we have never spent anywhere close to $500 for groceries at one time.  How many grocery carts did it take to hold all of those groceries?

At today's prices, Larry, probably only ONE!!  Especially if they bought a lot of meat!

I will come back soon and post the Thoughts.
