Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

I am still getting used to parents knowing the sex of their baby let alone naming the baby before birth.  Anyway Claire is getting a hot pink baby afghan.  I asked a woman working in the yard department at Hobby Lobby what she thought about a hot pink baby afghan.  She said a baby girl doesn't care but when gets 2 years old, she will love it.  Her granddaughter loves all the neon colors!

Donna Getz and I had a great visit and good food.  I didn't go swimming.  Just went to Hobby Lobby and to the bank for some money!

Ivalou has gout once again.  :'(   She took 7 days of Uloric...a new drug to prevent gout and she didn't get sick at all.  But since she took two generics and now wants to get a brand new drug, the insurance had to get a statement from the doctor to give a good reason why the brand new drug.  She was told she could get the prescription at CVS.  BUT it is $108 for 30 days.  And that is a co-pay!!  I checked the price on my insurance and it would be $144 for 30 days!  Ivalou thinks that is way too high.  She wants to see if there any other generics that she could try or one that is preferred.  Bless her heart.

I went to bed last night and fell asleep on my back.  I slept so good.  I got up at 4:20 and noticed no lights.  Since it was a full moon, I could see the battery operated clock in the bathroom.  I went back to sleep and got up again around 6:30...still no lights.  And it was getting colder.  My new clock alarm made a beeping sound at 7:20 when the lights came back on!  I called Ivalou to make sure she was okay.  She was.  She had said the night before she turned on the lights and used her cane to get to the bathroom because the gout hurt so bad.  And with no electric her lifeline necklace wouldn't work!  Then I got to thinking I don't even know if I could get the car out of the garage without electric.  I would have to get on the trunk to pull the cord so I could manually open the garage door.  And Ivalou's little door to the garage is rotted and won't open.  I was worrying without need.  Rambling...sorry... :idiot:

It was 60° in the house when I got up.  It is much better now and the SUN IS SHINING!!!!  Yeah!!!

Etta Sue, I'm glad the electricity is back and you're warming up again.  We don't realise until the power goes off just how much we depend on electricity these days!

I forgot to call yesterday and order a refill for my pain meds and won't have them now until after 4:00 p.m.  So the trip to the grocery store will wait until tomorrow.  Even with the meds my back complains after grocery shopping so I'm staying home today.

Etta Sue you never know when those cords to open the garage door are needed.  I would like to suggest getting them replaced so you  don't have to climb on the car to open the door if the hydro is out.  We don't need you falling when you are trying to help out!

I slept well last night.  The girls are off to write their 3rd exam.  After today there is only one to go.  The exam stress will be off till June then it is on again.

We have snow again last night and today.  I watched the neighbour take a run at our driveway and the snow.

Got to run

JudyB

We have sold a puppy to a wonderful family from Oshawa.  They have a spaniel and this makes 2.  They are active people and take the dogs on hikes and long walks.  She loves the outdoors so it is a great match up!

The snow that was promised didn't arrive. it is cloudy with grey clouds...still could snow up a storm.

I have work to get done so be back later!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We have had a busy day as had Bible study this morning, then to the donut shop until noon and then to the cafe next door for lunch.  We didn't get home until 1 pm but had a nice time with friends.  I have choir tonight.

Yesterday I had the Sears repair place here as one of my garage door openers quit working.  A little gear that works the opener and is made of plastic had broken in two.  He said he sees these stripped all the time but this was the first time he had seen one completely break.  He had to tear the unit down to get the part in.  The part cost about $37 dollars and the labor over $140.  However, it is worth it to have it work.  Once we get used to these conveniences it is hard to go back.

Janet, I know you made the correct decision for you today in regard to your test.  I understand your comment about becoming the parent figure for your parent.  We went through the same thing with my folks.  Rather frightening to think that one day we may find ourselves in such a relationship where our children have to assume that role for us.

RuthV

(Giving thanks for answered prayer)

JudyB, I'm so happy you have found a good home for one of your puppies. If it wasn't that we are partial for St. Bernards, I would be tempted; they are SOOOO gorgeous!

We are having a blizzard here..... for all, that is about ten miles south of JudyB's.

My car wouldn't start this morning; dead battery. I think the break lights stuck on and we didn't notice them! I had to get CAA (Canadian Automobile Association) to tow it up to North Bay. The hood, also, would not open as we have had rainy weather which has turned cold today which froze the latches; it has been giving me trouble all winter!

One of our, not too distant, neighbours lives off the grid..... however I enjoy the little luxuries that electricity gives me.

Gord Brown, I will send you an email soon..... maybe even my last three Christmas letters, if you can take all that information!!

Janet

Larry, I was mistaken about the appointment.  This was just a consult, and the procedure is scheduled for Feb. 4.  I feel better after having met the doctor and talking to him about my concerns.  Still not looking forward to it, though.  :P

Darrel found a chair he likes, so he bought it and it is to be delivered next Tuesday.  The one he has now is broken and has been giving him trouble.

Time to go make me a nice salad for supper! :)

JudyB

Janet I am glad you met the doctor.  I hope he put your mind at ease a little bit.

How is Darryl?  Is the infection getting better?

RuthV  I don't know where the dividing line is, but we got very little snow.  I have seen that on our road, seems strange.  You may be beyond the ridge that surrounds our property.  Often in summer everyone else gets rain and we remain dry.

This may be a late night.  I have a dog who may be having her puppies tonight, I don't leave her till she is done.
Bye for now!

Carol

We had a wonderful bible study on forgiveness this morning.  I almost did not go and so glad that I did because the words were so interesting and true to life.

JeanneLee:  Do hope your backache is better soon.  Yes, it certainly doesn't take much for those aches and pains to start.

Janet:  Just sending along a hug.  Good that you are continuing with the doctor & I hope that I don't have to drive to Kansas to get you to that appointment.   :)  Weather tonight is just a few snow flurries as we are missing all of the big storms.

RuthV:  Keep bundled up - it makes me chilled just to read the word blizzard.

JudyB:  How many dogs do you have?  Are you sewing anything?  I just put together a quilt top and looking at things in progress that have been stored for months.....

JudyB

Carol we have 3 adult dogs.  Our old girl Cinnamon is 11 in September she goes with me everywhere. Her Daddy was our first spaniel! Then there is Stiches, she is 4 (I think?) and Keziah, is over a year.  Stitches is Kassie's dog, and Keziah is Elizabeth's.  Keziah has had 4 puppies. We will be down to 2 tomorrow.  We only breed once a year at the most and will often miss a breeding.  Depends on the dog and how she is doing if we miss a breeding.

Carol I am gathering denim.  I need about 4 more pairs of medium blue jeans and about 8 - 10 dark blue.  I will likely have to buy some white denim.  I may also go for some very light blue, that would give me 4 colours, I will have to scrounge for them.  Have you ever made a quilt out of denim?

Ruth Ann Bice

I've often thought a denim quilt would be durable, as well as warm. Are you going to be using the kids' jeans fabric?

A quilt that is very special to me was made out of the leftover scraps from my maternity dresses. :)

Now that I'm retired, I think I'll take up quilting.

I heard a song this week that contains this phrase: "You don't have to walk on water; it's how you walk on land." My goodness, that has provided me with a lot of food for thought as I've gone about my duties.

Today one of the ladies from church called. A grocery store is going out of business (likely will close before the end of the week), and several ladies are going together to purchase cleaning supplies, paper goods, and plates etc. for our get togethers at church. All of them are working, so they asked me to do the purchasing for them, with reimbursements coming to me on Sunday. It's a very tiny church, so we member support in every way we can. Well, my purchases originally would have totalled over $140, but with the big discount plus coupons, I got the order for only $65 and change. Praise God for his blessings!!

Y'all have a great day.

I'm headed to bed now.

G'nite.

Ruth Ann you were up later than me!!  Yes, I am scrounging the girls jeans and others as I can find them.

Jeanne Lee

Judy, too bad we're so far apart.  I have a pair of white jeans that I can't get into any more, much to my dismay.  I loved those jeans!  Also, a pair of black ones that you might have been able to use.  Come on over and you can have them!   :)   I'll even put on the tea kettle for you.

Judy I have made a denim quilt and used printed  t-shirt fronts for the backing, I put a sheet blanket in for filling and boy was that quilt ever heavy and hot. But to wash it  was a pain because it was so heavy.

Jeanne I will take those jeans, and be there for the tea.  I will bring the cookies!

Marilyn i will be using the light fiberfil filling and a cotton backing.  Normally I would use a natural fiber, but I had decided for this that is what I will use.

Have a great day folks

Ruth

Janet:     A wonderful wonderful devotional, one that I will be doing a copy & paste.  Again thanks.

Marilyn:  What you said about the denim quilt is 100% correct added to what you said It was so heavy that it was cold, granted it had been  made many years ago, the denim these days is much lighter but still not my idea of a quilt for sure.

We have a sunny but very windy day with little bits of snow falling from the sky.

I am also trying to copy some pictures to a mini DVD-R without success the CD's work but not this, I must be doing something wrong.

We had a long day yesterday.  Ivalou had physical therapy and then we had to wait 45 minutes for her to have speech therapy.  I did get a skein of yarn done on the hot pink baby afghan, tho.  Then Ivalou and I went to Pizza Hut for early supper.  Very good!

Today I needed to go get some stamps so called Ivalou and she went with me.  I stopped at CVS and then the P.O. and then Dollar General.  Why is it I have one thing on my mind to purchase and spend $30??  I did get a light-weight sweat shirt.  It is so comfy!

Now Marge, Betty, Ivalou and I are going to the movies to see 'Extraordinary Measures' starring Harrison Ford and then to eat somewhere before returning back home!

It is still cold....only 14°F.  And windy.  You sure do hurry when you are out in it!!  It is sunny though!!

Marilyn and Ruth You have inspired me.  I will get at it and let you know how my quilt turns out!

Kassie is home early.  Elizabeth is at Doug's babysitting.  Doug and Megan are having a "date night".  I will be having my date night the first full weekend of February. I am going to farm out the girls for that.

We have cold temps and strong west winds going on tonight.  The wood will keep us warm!

Got to go
Back later
Judy

Janet

Hallelujah!  We are finally getting some snow!  Nasty and cold, but we do need moisture in the worst way, so are happy for it anyway.  They predict maybe 8 inches total this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow, then back to sunny.

Carol, I would balk and put on the brakes about that appointment if I really thought you would come and take me.  ;)  Thanks for the thought.

There are a lot of quilters around here, but the only quilts I have ever made were baby quilts when I was having my little ones.  But they are still around (quilts, too  ;)) so I guess the quality was there!

I made two trips to the care home to read to Beth today, the first time, they were just getting her up to go shower, and the second, just getting ready for exercise.  Now the weather is bad enough that I really don't want to go again.

Everyone at this house was thoroughly disgustged at the L-O-N-G State of the Union address last night.  :P :ticked: :uglystupid: :idiot:

Yes, Judy, DARREL is better, but still having night sweats some of the time, so we aren't sure if the infection is completely killed yet.  Thanks for asking.

Hi, friends,

I'm all cozy and warm in this apartment - the heat from the others below me of course, rises, so I don't need my heaters much at all. You say: "Heaters?" Yes, these great buildings were built close to 50 years ago, so both my biggest rooms have the motel-style heating/airconditioning units.

It's been a busy day today, I think I'm about ready to rest.

Y'all have a great evening.

JudyB

I've has an evening with Kassie, watching movies.  We love the Narnia movies and watched them tonight.

I sold another pup today so that is the fees for mating paid.  I just have the 2 little boys left.  Ginger, the little girl found an older washcloth and decided it would be a good toy for tug of war.  She held on for dear life, and forced the two little guys to give up.  She went to bed with "her" wash cloth!  The new owners figure her toys will not be too expensive!

I didn't plug in the van tonight.  With the temperatures we are having I think that was a mistake.  I will know in the morning!

Well I am off to bed, after the furnace is loaded again.  Night all!

Gord Brown

:)Hi to all.   It is very cold here and also up north as I was at my son's today and there were many whiteouts when we left to come home I saw one temp. gauge which read  -11c which is very very cold and the wind was blowing so that would make it even much colder. :coffee:

Janet:   I am also so glad that you have planned to go ahead with the tests I have had two and thank goodness that they put me out because I never felt a thing and there was no problems so just keep trusting the Lord and he will be in charge. :)

Good night or good morning to all.   Gord. <3

JudyB

Just checked my weather thingy at the bottom of my previous post...-26C or -13 F  I am feeling the cold tonight.

Etta Sue

Brrr!  It is cold here and it isn't below zero!!  I found out yesterday that my sister is getting tired of me saying I am cold...remember this is the first year for 22 years that I have said that!  She even said it like 'I mean it!  I am getting tired of hearing you say you are cold.'  So I guess I had better dress warmer, wear my gloves and think before I say, 'I am cold!'   :o

The movie was great.  We thought at first that maybe Betty wouldn't like it since she lost her adult son a couple of years ago but she said it was a good movie.  It was based on a true story.  I had never heard of the disease that a new enzyme was found to arrest its progress.  But there is a lot of things that I don't know...really!

Today Kitty and I are going swimming.  Our first swim for 2010.  We just haven't been able to get together for swimming...too busy, too cold, bad weather and such.  Kitty's sister from northern Indiana is coming for the weekend so we won't be eating out tonight...taking a snack for after swimming...we are both starved after being in the water.

I found out that the son of my classmate that is at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson is with him now.  I am happy about that.  No one should be in the hospital and no one visit them.

Etta Sue I don't mind you saying you are cold.  I too am cold.   The furnace is going.....still cold.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We are awaiting the arrival of the storm from the west but we are only suppose to get cold rain in our area.  The north Georgia mountains are expecting ice and snow.

We are attending a get together this evening for the 90+ year old lady who used to attend our church.  She and her husband had lived for several years with their son in Florida but Abe passed away sometime ago and she has moved back here to live with her daughter.  She is almost stone deaf but loves to be with people.  They used to be a part of our Sunday after church and birthday groups.

Judy, Gord, Janet, and Etta Sue those cold temps sound very unpleasant.  I don't think we are to get below 40 here with this spell of weather.

I just contracted to have storm windows installed on my screened porch.  This should allow us to keep it a lot cleaner and perhaps be able to use it a bit more.

Janet

We are snowed in!!  I opened the garage door and the drift in front of it comes up to my hip!  And the snow is about a foot deep out by the other garage, with drifts across the road...thankfully, I don't HAVE to get out today, so am just staying home.  Maybe I will get a few things done I have been putting off doing.  (No promises, though.  ;))

The additional snow we were predicted to get today have gone elsewhere.  But we are happy to get the moisture we did get.  :)

I got a new keyboard for my desktop PC, so now I can print things out again when needed.

Not much news from my corner today!

Not much news here, either, except that the furnace is running almost constantly.  We were well below zero last night - still at -8 when I got up at 8:00 this morning and it's not supposed to get up to more than 10 above this afternoon.  A couple more days and nights like this, then up into the 20's during the day.  It will be another 6 or 8 weeks before we can expect anything much better.

Good afternoon, friends, it looks like a turned-upside-down-snowglobe outside! How beautiful (and of course, how treacherous for drivers). They say it will continue snowing for about 18 more hours, so we should have a pretty good accumulation - somewhat in excess of 7 inches, which is a whole lot down here.

Janet, I haven't been able to print since before Christmas because of a printer malfunction. I'm to receive a replacement within the next week, since it's still in warranty.

Well, y'all have a great rest of the day, and although I don't address everyone personally, I think of you as I read your posts and empathize with your struggles. And, occasionally, you'll hear a loud chuckle or a murmered Amen as your posts come up.

Love to everyone.
