Morning Devotional...
Arrested!
Acts 5:17-42 NLT
The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them, "Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!"
So at daybreak the apostles entered the Temple, as they were told, and immediately began teaching.
When the high priest and his officials arrived, they convened the high council—the full assembly of the elders of Israel. Then they sent for the apostles to be brought from the jail for trial. But when the Temple guards went to the jail, the men were gone. So they returned to the council and reported, "The jail was securely locked, with the guards standing outside, but when we opened the gates, no one was there!"
When the captain of the Temple guard and the leading priests heard this, they were perplexed, wondering where it would all end. Then someone arrived with startling news: "The men you put in jail are standing in the Temple, teaching the people!"
The captain went with his Temple guards and arrested the apostles, but without violence, for they were afraid the people would stone them. Then they brought the apostles before the high council, where the high priest confronted them. "Didn't we tell you never again to teach in this man's name?" he demanded. "Instead, you have filled all Jerusalem with your teaching about him, and you want to make us responsible for his death!"
But Peter and the apostles replied, "We must obey God rather than any human authority. The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by hanging him on a cross. Then God put him in the place of honor at his right hand as Prince and Savior. He did this so the people of Israel would repent of their sins and be forgiven. We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him."
When they heard this, the high council was furious and decided to kill them. But one member, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, who was an expert in religious law and respected by all the people, stood up and ordered that the men be sent outside the council chamber for a while. Then he said to his colleagues, "Men of Israel, take care what you are planning to do to these men! Some time ago there was that fellow Theudas, who pretended to be someone great. About 400 others joined him, but he was killed, and all his followers went their various ways. The whole movement came to nothing. After him, at the time of the census, there was Judas of Galilee. He got people to follow him, but he was killed, too, and all his followers were scattered.
"So my advice is, leave these men alone. Let them go. If they are planning and doing these things merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!"
The others accepted his advice. They called in the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go.
The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus. And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: "Jesus is the Messiah."
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FStarblinking.gif&hash=27e115f9cd5672d07457eb7160f143473dc479d4)How do you react when treated unfairly?
Have you ever thought of persecution as a blessing?
This beating suffered by Peter and John was the first time any of the apostles had been physically abused for their faith. These men knew how Jesus had suffered, and they praised God that he allowed them to be persecuted like their Lord.
If you are mocked or persecuted for your faith, it isn't because you are doing something wrong but because God has counted you "worthy to suffer dishonor for the name of Jesus."
The Best of the Bible--365 Must-Read Bible Passages
Hello everyone,
Been busy busy around here... Ruth is almost completely potty trained.... tomorrow I go to meet with the surgeon to talk about when he can remove my gall bladder as I have been having lots of trouble with it NOT work (EF only 22%) been reading posts but with little miss running about haven't had time to respond Hope all is well in your neck of the woods have a great day :)
Sarah
Good thoughts for the week, Etta Sue. We need to ponder the suffering of Jesus and His followers more often, and I really like the thought at the about the reason we are persecuted.
Hello, Sarah! I've been thinking about you. Good job on getting little Ruth potty trained! And I hope your surgery goes well, too.
The book signing this morning was awesome! I am praising God! Pastor Kris let me bring Beth to the front and talk to the congregation for a few minutes, then we went to the foyer to sign books. Pat was my very able and capable helper. Thank God for friends. I think we sold 18 books, and several were the hard back ones! And some people said they didn't have the money with them but want a book next Sunday.
I got that room done I was working on yesterday, so now I'm ready to start on my studio. It's a real mess, stuff piled on every flat surface. But "inch by inch, everything's a cinch." ;)
I will be back later!
Ruth V: You should visit King City ,Oak Rides now it will shock you, since they are now connected to the big pipe it is housing explosion.
I would also like to move but at the present it is not possible, but to what location I do not know.
Betty: I have been to your part of the country and it is beautiful.
We just got home from seeing Courageous, which the Methodist church showed. What a wonderful movie! Wow, powerful message, and so well done.
Darrel just turned on the TV and it's so loud I can't stand it, so I'm going to the bedroom! See you tomorrow!
Hi, friends, well, it's late and I'm trying to wind down from such a busy schedule lately. :)
I've gone to both worship services today and also helped a friend install her "new to her" tv that I was able to get through Freecycle. She's SO happy, and was totally ignorant of Freecycle until I told her about it. :)
Love y'all,
Ruth Ann
Another wonderful day from the Lord's hand to us. I pray to behave as truly his daughter today! Thank you, Lord.
Ruth Ann, you continue to amaze me. What a blessing you are!
I have been up since 5, so have gotten quite a lot accomplished already. When I can't sleep anyway, I decided I might as well get up and use the time profitably. I'd been awake since 3. :-\
I will be back later, after more of you have been in to post!
Hi everyone. Just back from coffee and going for a walk around the church parking lot as there were a lot of very small children running hither and yon in the gym and then to Kroger to pick up medicine and finally to the gas station to fill the car up with gas. It is a beautiful day here in Georgia with bright sunshine and it is suppose to warm up nicely before the day is done. I have my men's luncheon at 1 pm today and then a meeting to attend this evening and that will be the day.
Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional thought for this week. It is a good one.
Sarah, you will feel so much better when the gall bladder is removed. I know that was certainly the case with me a number of years ago as had suffered a lot of pain for a long time. It sounds like that little girl is keeping you quite busy.
Janet, so glad that your book signing went so well. Sounds like Darrel needs to investigate a headset for the TV where he can control the volume that he needs and you can do the same. My best friend and his wife both have headsets and use them anytime they watch TV so they can each set the volume as they want it. Do hope you can find the time for a nice nap today since you got up so early.
Ruth Ann, nice that you were so helpful to your friend.
Ruth, I find the thought of moving again very daunting but once the decision is made we always find a way to accomplish what we set out to do.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FMonkeys.gif&hash=5fa9564a795e4ed6e617182e976ae46b49a62266)
Well, everything got done that I had planned yesterday. I went from one thing right on to another thing and finally home to crochet and watch some TV.
Sarah, I never had gall bladder problems but I know friends who have and they felt so much better even going back to their room after surgery. Will this be in-patient or out-patient surgery? Years ago, you were in the hospital a week!!
Janet, I know you are blessed with your book and doesn't it feel good that your home friends want to purchase the book? If they are half as blessed as I was reading about Beth and you, they are blessed fully!
Ruth, I am done moving. My next move will be into a home Jesus has for me.
Ruth Ann, you and me with busy schedules. Do you ever wonder how you ever had time to work? I do, many times. I love being busy but I also love my leisure also. Maybe Thursday this week!
Larry, it is to warm up here today also. So far it isn't. I don't consider it warm at all until the temp gets into the 40's. Not yet. Just two more months and each day it should get warmer!!
This afternoon I go to my Urologist for a cystoscopy to be told I am tumor free again! My last tumor in my bladder was 10 years ago this month!! Thank God for medical technicians and their knowledge! After that I need to get some groceries, fill the car up with gas, and maybe stop by the hospital for some yarn if I get an email saying it will be there. If not, I hope I can get it tomorrow when I go to the pool. I would like it to give to a girl at Crochet Angels Wednesday evening.
Yesterday was super busy and ended with Small Groups. We knew some were not going to attend so we sat around George's kitchen table. We are studying Romans 1. This week was to be Romans 1:8-17. Well.....we got 8-10 done! Three verses. But I am learning more from this group than all the other Bible studies I have attended put together! A great diverse bunch of people. Love it!
Today is my Tony's 51st birthday. He let me know last week that he can get some Sr. discounts. What?? My son a Senior Citizen! Now that makes me old!!---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@

I got a letter from the clinic Saturday that my Doctor is not at the clinic anymore. The assigned me to am older doctor who did my colonoscopy. However, I want a female doctor, one who is a more recent graduate than 31 years ago. So many doctors are no longer taking Medicare or Medicaid patients and do not like Obamacare. Most of them that leave the clinics are going into private practice and taking cash only patients. No Medicare, Insurance or Medicaid. This is what Keith;'s dermatologist told him. She lfet the clinic and Keith drew the plans for her new office. I hope Obama doesn't get re-elected. What I have read int he excerpts of that bill we are in deep you know what as seniors and our health care.
Well another week stated, and more snow in the forecast. Nevertheless This is the day that the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
I am letting the fire die down so I can take out some accumulated ash. As a result it is quite cool in here. Time for a sweater!
John has a trainee with him, the living area of his truck is quite small so having the second person with him makes for cramped quarters. He is so good at what he does that the boss likes to get him training as often as possible. There are extra $$$ for this and after this last pay period that will be appreciated. His miles have been down for about 2 weeks.
We are working on the renovations for an upstairs bathroom and the one empty bedroom. We have to take about 32 inches off both bedrooms, in order to fit the tub and sink cabinet in. It will be nice when it is done.
Well I am off to start the fire, and get 4 - 5 small jobs done.
Have a great afternoon everyone.
:) Good afternoon to all here on C. P. I have read all the posts and very interesting to here what is going on.
Etta Sue. Tank you for you devotion and it was very interesting and what the outcome that the disciples had.
Ruth Ann. It is so nice to here that you are so helpful to others and that you are available for many others with the gifts that the Lord has given to you. Don't forget to take a break that you need once in a while. God bless you :)
Sarah. Nice to see you posting again and as a grandparent I know how much fun it is trying to keep up with a two year old. Ihope that you get your surgery done soon as it is not easy when you have the little one. By the way where do you live as i checked your profile but no map. Look after yourself.
Well to all others on C.P. I have been a good boy since I saw the surgeon and have done what he told me to do and kept my hand upright and let me tell you it is so hard but I feel that the swelling has gone down but my middle finger was sore today so we will have to wait till Thursday and see what the Surgeon says so that's it for now. It is very boring and can't do much but the Lord is so good and continues to give us strength day by day. Praise his name forever. Gordon AND Noreen. ;D :cp: :rocker: :bananadance:
Wow, what a Monday! It's been wonderful....Got up way too early, got stuff done, such as condolence cards, bookkeeping chores for book sales, laundry, went to Pat's and had a cup of tea with her (she is leaving on Wed. to have surgery on her neck in Lubbock) mailed another book, made another bank deposit, sold two books while in the bank! Then on to the senior center, where I sold another book, then took lunch to my wonderful chiropractor friend, and they had sold two books there. When the mail arrived, there was another check and a wonderful and much-appreciated letter from Jane. Thank you, thank you!
Beth called to say one of the nurses who quit was there to visit her and wanted a book, so back to town, sold that one, read to Beth from our book, and also an animal story from the other book I've been reading to her; back home, went for a nice walk (it was 75* here today!!) and when I came in there was a call from the library saying they have sold all but one of the books I left there, and to bring more!! I am totally humbled at the reception the book is having, and the wonderful comments I am getting. God is SO good to me!
Gord, good to see your post, hope that hand gets better and better each day!
I didn't make it into my studio today, so must get back in there and work some more. My plan is to accomplish some each day toward getting it straightened up.
I wish you all peaceful, refreshing sleep--including ME. ;)
Yes, Janet, each of us can echo your statement, "God is so good to me!"
Well, Etta Sue, I think today was my "sabbath." I rested, and rested, just about all day long. Now, catching up on emails, email bills, and then, it will probably be laundry time at my house tonight. :)
Love to all,
Ruth Ann
Hello everyone!!
Tomorrow is a travel day as Everett needs to get a dental matter seen to..... so shall have to catch up Wednesday.
Janet... no book yet, however will be here soon, I'm sure.
Love to all.... sleep tight!!
Folks Ruth is traveling south tomorrow and the weather is to be bad. Freezing rain and snow. Lets keep them both in our prayers.
Etta Sue, that was a wonderful devotion you posted for the week, thank you very much for bringing us that message.
Having just returned home from a 7-state, 2900+ mile trip over the past 9 days, I am catching up on a million things, including all your messages and updates. Seems to be a number of causes worthy of both prayer and praise going on in our lives. And I thank you for your prayers during my recent trips, as I was most definitely protected from danger as I cruised through black ice and freezing rain/fog (for hundreds of miles) without incident.
As I urged my pickup down the highway over the last 120 miles, I was eagerly anticipating getting home. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy traveling, seeing new things, helping my customers, and all that stuff, but coming home is always the best part of my journey. Home - the place where I am loved, cared for, surrounded by people who provide encouragement, support, and joy. A place where I can be most at ease and myself. As wonderful as coming home is here on earth, I can't even imagine how awesome "coming to our Father's home" will be someday.
May you all have a great week, filled with opportunities to share your faith and fellowship. You all remain in my prayers.
It is well,
Ken
Hi everyone. My what a beautiful day we enjoyed here yesterday and today is suppose to be a repeat. The big activity for today is to make a trip to Atlanta to have lunch with our daughter to celebrate her 47th birthday. She has invited a friend to join us at a Mexican restaurant that we all like that is close by to where she and this friend have apartments. We have not met this lady before but she suffers from MS and recently Stacey gave her the old powerchair that she has had stored since getting her new powerchair a few months agao. Pat made a pumpkin pie with Splenda so I expect this is to be a part of the celebration today.
Etta Sue, I find it amazing that in our Bible study with the pastor we can spend an hour on only a few verses of Scripture.
Marilyn, I also fear that health care for seniors is going to be controlled not by the doctors but by bureaucrats in Washington who are don't have to face the people whose lives they will significantly impact by their decisions. I am sure this is very frustrating for the doctors.
Judy, that sounds like a big renovation project, particularly getting a tub upstairs.
Gord, glad the swelling is being reduced by your doing what you are suppose to do.
Janet, what a busy day. I am not surprised at the reaction to your book if people will only pick it up and start reading it. Just remember the mustard seed story in the Bible as big things start from small beginnings and you are on your way.
Ken, sounds like you had quite a tough trip with those road conditions. Hope you get a few days at home to recoup from your trip.
This hymn has been playing in my head for some time now. Thought I would share it.

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;

I picked up the DVD of Courageous last night. It will be a treat for John and I to watch.
As I was scrolling down to get to the Quick Reply, A comment of Janet's struck me as so right on. We do need to ponder the sufferings of our Lord and his disciples. We are His servants, how thankful we should be that the trials the disciples suffered haven't come our way. How can we, His servants, expect our lives to be so good? Why are we not expecting to suffer like he did. I have heard someone demand money, financial prosperity, good health, and refuse to say, "Thy will be done."
How arrogant can we as the church be..... OK, I haven't seen any of those things here on this site, so please no offense is intended. Just a person I know on FB is spouting these things, and I find her rhetoric to be so very offensive.
Thy will be done...... Case and point. Look at how God is blessing Beth's illness through Janet's book. God had a purpose in allowing all that Beth has gone through.....That His name be glorified.
We got our share of snow last evening but this afternoon I am planning on going out to do some grocery shopping. A few of the items are on sale
Also my plans are to shorten a pair of bedroom drapes I have them marked so all I need to do is measure pin and do the stitching. For me this is a relaxing job.
Tomorrow will be a busy day in fact I do not expect to be home, Several appointments and lots of driving between each one. I am thankful that this is not a regular thing that I have to do.
About the moving some day into the future, aside from the packing we had movers do it for us the last time, although I must say we are older now and only God knows what is in our future.
Cheers Ruth

Sunday evening my brother, Kaye Don, called to remind me and Ivalou that the Outback Steakhouse gift card they gave each of us expires the end of February. And why not come to Florida and they would go with us to use it?
Yesterday on my way home from the Urologist...which was great news. No tumors and I don't have to go back to see her as long as I am getting Botox in my bladder. That Dr. can do what she does! So I mentioned to Ivalou what Kaye Don said about going to Florida. I had told Ivalou that we could take more time in getting there and back if it was too tiring for her to ride that many miles per day! She never said to go or not to go.
So she said she would like to go to Florida and thought that I didn't want to go since I joined in two Small Groups! So I told her to look at her calender and see if she has a couple of weeks free in February!
So as of right now, we are leaving here the 7th...a week from today and want to be home by the 20th! Sunshine!!! Ah! Florida!
Then last night while eating out with Tony and Charlene, I looked at my Outback Steakhouse card and it isn't valid after Feb 10th! So now Marge, Betty, Ivalou and I are planning on going to Outback this Thursday. Ivalou and I were afraid we wouldn't get to Kaye Don's early enough to use it down there!
Then Kitty let me know that she and Bob are going to be gone for a week starting this Sunday! So I called Jane and she is going to kitty sit for me and get our mail. Jane lives less than a mile away!
All we have left to do is for me to get a call back from our tax preparer to find out when we can leave our tax papers with her!
I got up this morning, ate breakfast and fixed a Four Bean Casserole for the crock pot. Then Ivalou and I left at 9:30 for the pool. I told her she could come over for lunch. Well, my kitchen socket where I plugged in the crock pot is loose and the plug wasn't engaged so it wasn't hot. Ivalou and I went to Woody's for lunch. So now Ivalou is invited tonight for Four Bean Casserole!
We are having a heat wave!!! 57°!! Partly sunny and breezy but not cold at all! God is preparing me for Florida... ::)\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\

Hi, friends, that young man whose family used to attend our church and is now actively going to a church more near their home, came today, as he promised, and got everything hooked up for the television Freecycle provided for the lady on my floor. Oh, how good God is!!
And, since there were no impediments, such as taking folks to the doctor, etc., I was able to attend our devotional study downstairs. The topic was Deborah, the prophetess, and Barak's unwillingness to go to battle without having her tag along, and then her saying that, essentially, she would go, but to understand that God would provide the opportunity to win the battle through a woman, not through Barak. What a great lesson, and the lady who gave it is struggling with many, many handicaps, but her understanding of this passage (in Judges 4) was so clear and she delivered it well. As a neophyte Christian (actually, one who has returned to the fold after a years-long absence), she shows surprising spiritual maturity.
Now, for me to finish my tasks for today, and get that pot of kale greens cooked for my dinner. See y'all later!
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. We had a beautiful weather day yesterday. I think this afternoon we may have some rain but still not too cold. We have Bible study this morning and then this evening I have a business meeting for the group for which I serve as Treasurer. I stopped to pick up some medicine I must have by this evening and had ordered last Thursday and they had not filled it. So I will have to make another trip to the pharmacy late this afternoon to pick it up as the prescriptions are filled at a central location and brought to the pharmacy in the early afternoons. So today will be a full day. We had a nice luncheon with our daughter and her friend at Uncle Julio's Mexican place. The food is always very good there.
Judy, we men were talking about the churches that preach the prosperity theme Sunday at lunch and noted that it is the the minister that has the huge homes and car and lives in luxury. We have a couple of huge churches here in the Atlanta area that have gone that way and the ministers have been discredited and the churches fallen onto hard times.
Etta Sue, glad you again got good news from your doctor. Now you all can enjoy planning your trip. I wonder how businesses get away with selling gift cards that have expiration dates on them. They have the money and haven't provided the item or service.
Larry, I certainly agree--NO gift certificate should have an expiration date! As far as I'm concerned, that is just stealing! As you said, they already got the money, so why impose time limits? :ticked:
I have been interrupted three times since starting this post, but for good reasons! A gal who lived here many years and still gets the local paper read the article about my book and called to order one. She said she well remembers Beth as a little girl and how cute and sweet she was, and when she had the feet and legs surgeries, etc. So we had a nice visit. She now lives in Idaho. Then she called back again to ask about two other residents of the care home where Beth lives. Nice to hear from her, and her book is now ready to mail!
Last evening I went to a concert in Garden City with the Seniors group on the bus. It was a young man named Mark Masri, who had a wonderful tenor voice. But I didn't enjoy it much because he sang in Spanish French, Italian, Hebrew and Arabic, and a very few in English, so of course I couldn't understand the words. And when he spoke, he talked so softly I couldn't understand much of that, either. So I was disappointed.
Etta Sue, great news! Now go and enjoy that Florida sunshine!
Probably several have posted since I first started this, so I will go now, and come back later!
Janet here in Canada it is illegal to have an expiry date on gift certificates, for the very reason you stated. This has been in effect for years here.
It is/has been raining here. A gloomy day.
Had a long nice chat with Gord last night. He is managing to keep the bad had above the heart by using the other arm to support the bad one. I know first hand how difficult that can be. However he was able at that point (the chat) to move all his fingers.
I just heard a terrible wailing and meowing, Couldn't figure out who it was as both inside cats were indeed inside. I went looking and low and behold Tommy our wonderful BIG male cat was at the door wanting in. I've never heard such crying!
Well i have 5 things to do. Because I didn't sleep well last night, I am going to lay down this afternoon and see if I can get some rest. That may help the energy as well.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FWhitedogball.gif&hash=5c7710fbef30358c4135931eff8d3be5b0b0233a)
I, too, have never heard of a gift card with an expiration date on it. Ivalou would never say 'Let's go to Outback Steakhouse and use our coupons this Thursday' since she knows she wouldn't be the driver! So it was totally up to me when to go. And winter in Indiana...you never know. I did have the card where I am frequently reminded but so glad Kaye Don mentioned it but he said last of February but on the card it is printed...not written...Valid 1-1-12 thru 2-10-12! Hope they (Kaye Don and Barb) don't do that again!
Ivalou did come back last evening and ate with me. She brought a cake and Cool Whip so we had a pretty rounded out meal. And guess what I am having for lunch?
Well, it is official. We are planning on leaving next Tuesday morning...around sunrise. Ivalou always thinks that is silly to leave that early in the morning but I probably won't sleep the night before so I might as well be on the road. She can sleep in the car...I can't. If I had my way, we would leave at 5am but I am thinking maybe 7am.
Of course, I have a lot more to take than Ivalou. Laptop, crocheting or knitting, my pillow etc. I couldn't find my earbuds this morning...they were in my laptop carrier. I need them for my reading the Bible in a year and listening to it on Droid. And I can use them on the laptop so the sound won't bother the others.
I have been putting things on the dining room table that I want to take. I am excited. We haven't been on a trip since Ivalou's stroke Sept. 2009 other than a weekend in Michigan to attend a nephews wedding.
I had better move on...?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

Etta Sue you are leaving on my Birthday. Not much new here. I have a loaf of Oatmeal Flax bread in the bread maker and I will be leaving shortly to go to Coquille to take Happy to the vet for his monthly checkup.
JudyB..... Thank you for requesting prayer for our trip. There was a lot of slush on the roads and we were often blinded my passing vehicles; especially large transport trucks. The trip went smoothly and Everett is now on antibiotics for an abscess caused by a root canal done six months ago. He has noticed a tremendous improvement since taking them.
Today is catch up day and Bible Study tonight.
Weather is cloudy and just under freezing.
Have a great day, everyone. Praying for all on the roads!!
I wish I could have edited my previous post! my = by
Janet: The hard cover copy came!!! Thank you!!
I won't start reading today as I know I will not get anything else done!!
Ruth, I'm so glad! I was getting concerned about that book. And, to edit a post, even later, all you need do is click on "modify" and you can change, add, delete to your heart's content! Enjoy the read, when you get to it!
This is a catch-up day on laundry, and all things - our daughter left for home on Monday and yesterday two of Don's schoolmates came to visit. Washing clothes takes forever because this is the small stacked unit and won't take two large sheets at once.
Gord: I am so glad that you were good and kept that arm up so you are recovering nicely. Time does go so slowly when "have to's" are involved.
Ruth Ann: You deserved that day of rest.
Chatting with close friends on Skype today and Don has been in and out as well. He is finishing a book and I need to do some knitting before the next meeting.
Hi, friends, This morning was taken up with a nearly blind friend's visit to the surgeon for follow up. He gets his low-vision glasses next week, so life shouldbe much better for him.
Then, the rest of the day has been one headache - really, OUCH! I'm headed for the tylenol bottle, then bed with something warm on my forehead and eyes.
Love to everyone,
Ruth Ann
Hello all,
I am doing well had my surgery on Tuesday and am on the road to recovery... in some pain but the medicine takes care of it after awhile as long as I don't do too much. I do feel better than I did before I can eat and not feel near as sick as I used to. I am ready for the pain to completely subside so that I can start doing my normal things again. Thank you for the payers and concerns. It was an outpatient or day surgery. I have 4 small incisions on my belly and the dr said everything went off without a problem. I have only had on real bought with being nauseous since i had it done. I was at the hospital at 1115 and went back into surgery about 2 or 230 and by 4 i was out and at 530 i was sitting in my recliner at home. Gord I live in the Panhandle of Oklahoma. I need to go lay down and relax for a while Just thought I would let ya'll know how things went. have a good day!
Sarah
Sarah, good to know you are doing well after your surgery. It's amazing the things they do now on an outpatient basis! They used to keep folks in the hospital for days! Not a good thing. Anyway, continue gaining back your strength, and you will soon be back to full health and doing what you need to do. Prayers and love to you, dear.
Hi everyone. Writing from the hyundai dealer where I am having some transmission service work done.It is a part of the 30000 mile maintenance.I will be here for a couple of hours and am using my phone to write so this will be brief today. Pat stopped off at the senior center to spend the morning.
Janet my book arrived yesterday and I will have your check go out when the postman comes this afternoon.
I am of the the gym now then yoga at 10.
Thanks to Ruth and Marilyn for letting me know their books have arrived!
I am excited about the book, every day brings new blessings. AND.....Tate is sending out another contract today for a children's book. I have been trying for over two years to get someone to illustrate it for me, and Tate has a whole staff of great illustrators for children's books----so you may be hearing about another writing/publishing adventure soon! I sent it to a friend over a year and a half ago to do the illustrations. She is a great artist, but goes off in too many directions at once, and still hasn't gotten it done, so I have written and asked her to send it back to me ASAP. Prayers for this new adventure appreciated! I never dreamed my life would take a turn in this direction!
Beth called a while ago to tell me I'd never guess what John sent her---wonder what it is this time? ;) I will be visiting her later today.
Lots to do today (what else is new? ;) ) so I need to get back at it!

Marilyn, I would say that I will sing 'Happy Birthday' to you while heading south next Tuesday but that would make Ivalou nauseated! So I will think Happy Birthday, Marilyn!
Janet...just curious...how many books have you sold so far or can you count that high? I am hoping I see your book on the Best Seller list!
I had a 'J' night last night. First one for a long time. I think I was too hot. It got up into the 60's here yesterday and therefore the house was hotter as the solar heat was working. So I got up and played games on the laptop. When I went back to bed, the clock read 3:00!
I found out that the coordinator for the volunteer services at the hospital was in the hospital. She had a lumpectomy Monday. The lab work isn't back yet so pray with me that it is benign. She has already gone through the chemotherapy for breast cancer. This lump was probably detected when she went for the scan to see if the cancer was gone or not.
Today us girls are going to Outback and if I have time, since I am driving, I want to take Chemo Wrap #7 to the hospital. I said it was #8 on FB but it is #7.
Bright and sunny again today and 42° and heading to high 50's. Spring weather in Indiana!! But we know it won't last! If the groundhog is in Indiana he would be back in his den for another 6 weeks!
I see Janet posted....what did John send Beth?

Well, old puxtahawney Phil saw his shadow again, so 6 more weeks of winter coming! ;)
Etta Sue, I have sold a few over 100 copies of the book thus far. When I spoke to my marketing gal at Tate today, she was impressed and said I am doing remarkably well! Thanks for the good wishes.
What did John send Beth? It is a sort of plaque that says: BETH BRANDT GUILTY!
SHE STOLE JOHN'S HEART!
It looks like the headline from a newspaper. Ha ha. I don't know where he finds all the things he sends her, but he is constantly on the lookout for things to make her smile. What a sweetheart John is.
Darrel and I went to see our State Farm Agent about finishing up our claim, and she bought a book! ;) (I don't leave home without my basket of books!)
Now, back to work! See you later.
Sarah: Continuing prayers for your recovery from pain and all mends well.
Larry: I saw so many zeros on your mileage that it looked like 300,000 to me. ;D I did get to the quilting group & all are going to work on making pillow cases for a young man's Eagle Scout project. He needs 300 pillow cases. I have two so that is a start.
This is a wonderful place to find volunteer work as both groups I attend have multiple donations of either knitted lap warmers for the Vets, knitted quilts for Linus, quilts galore for all kinds of places - hospice and so much more.
Janet: It is such a pleasure to read all of your uplifting stories about the book & interest from so many places and that Beth has great support. Suppose you are getting ready for the snow. I was trying to call middle son and will check in with the children soon. Hunker down for this storm.
Don has had several incidents of low blood sugar. This hits fast and furious and it is good that I am nearby & able to take over driving.
Carol, check out Extendbar.com. The bars were developed by a doctor who was head of the ADA - diabetes association. They will help keep the blood sugar level for several hours.
In fact, I eat one every night to be sure that my glucose doesn't drop too low at night. The cost (maybe about $1.50 a bar) really is low for the good they do. Others I've recommended these to have had the same results.
Between Salvation Army duties this morning, picking up something from Freecycle donor for my friend this afternoon, and then attending a health event at a local hotel sponsored by St. Thomas Hospital this evening, I'm plenty tired!
Much love to each of you,
Ruth Ann
Another "partly sunny" but chilly day here in the northeast. The snow accumulation so far this winter is more than two feet behind last year and almost that much below average. The weather sure has been strange all around the world the last two or three years. I'm sure glad the Lord knows what He's doing, because I sure don't! ;D
Hi everyone. Another nice day in store today. My stint at the car dealership went well yesterday and they were done in little over and hour while I had been told to expect two hours. They didn't seem to be very busy. Other than coffee this morning I have a quiet day planned. I had planned to visit with my friend who has the cancer but spoke with him this morning and they are doing something this afternoon so he suggested another day, which was fine. I want to do what is best for him. He is beginning to feel better from the hormone therapy they have started.
Janet, I think you have a natural talent for writing. I don't think you had mentioned the children's book. What a nice gift from John and something she can look at everyday.
Carol, I hope I didn't say 300,000 but might have as typing on the screen keyboard on the phone can be a bit of a challenge. I guess I am a bit confused as to how having someone else make the pillowcases is an Eagle Scout type project. Is he also making some of them?
Janet this book is such a blessing. I had read some the night before last then yesterday i picked up where I left off after lunch and only put it down to prepare and eat dinner. Beth is such a blessing to all those she has encountered in her life. Her spirit is so uplifting not only to those but to me also. She has had to deal with so many challenges throughout her life and you have been right there with her every step of the way. I am now at the Wound Vac chapter and when i come back from my errand this morning i will finish the book. Praise the Lord for Janet and Beth's story.
Y'all have said so many great things about te book that I can't wait until mine shows up. :)
Today was another morning of "let Ruth Ann rest", but now it's time to be about business, as well as my Father's business.
Love to everyone,
Ruth Ann

See Janet, Marilyn agrees with me on how great and fabulous you and Beth's stories are!
Us ladies had a great time at Outback Steakhouse. The food put all the other steakhouses to shame! What Ivalou and I had instead of a gift card was a bonus card. Maybe it was a card when someone eats so many meals, you get a bonus card for so much money off. What we did find out was if your meal wasn't the amount, you lost the difference. I spent my amount because I got the Bloomin' Onion for all of us. Ivalou and Marge went together with Marge using a credit card for the overage and tip. So all went well!
Today Ivalou and I took our tax papers to the tax preparer. Then to Woody's for lunch. Then to the bank for some cash. When I got home, I called Kitty and then took her bread machine and instruction books to her. She is doing encaustic painting. Janet may know what it is but you use colored wax and an old iron and then melt and draw. Kitty is doing so much better now. Even adds things to it like coffee grounds, tea leaves, confetti, etc.
She is also doing a computer drawing from a Klimt book. I wouldn't ever think of doing something like it nor do I even think they are pretty but I also do not have the artistic eye that she does! But it was nice visiting with Kitty.
Not sure what I am doing the rest of the day. Probably relax!
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Yoo Hoo .... I'm here! I just had a very interesting experience: A fellow in Los Angeles has been remotely controlling my computer most of the morning, and cleaning it up from a suspected malware infection. It really fascinated me to watch the curser move around the screen and different programs pop up and run and then leave ... Now I am supposed to have a "like new" computer back in my possesion!
By the way ... Marilyn and Etta Sue, I have conveyed my awe and compliments to Janet and Beth via email as well as snail mail so here's another one who truly loves this book! I don't often post on these different forums, but I do read regularly. It is not my "style" to make too many comments, etc. on the big WWW y'know. Just me. :-[
I do hope y'all have a very blessed and prosperous day ahead of you. Things in my life just keep putzing along. There are several "issues" among family members, but I have a suspicion that's the case in most of our lives. God is still in control of it all and I have no problem with letting it stay that way! :)
I'll toddle off now ... I only wanted to stick my head in the door to let y'all know I'm here on a regular basis and read everything y'all share. I pray for each and every concern and rejoice with you over the blessings. Jus' sayin' ;)
Thank you so much for the nice compliments, Marilyn. Do you mind if I use them on the webpage under 'comments'? Also Etta Sue and Jane....you girls all make me feel so good. And today I needed it. I slept only about two or three hours last night, so am groggy, tired and warding off the grumpies today.
Darrel and I went over to Sublette (about 35 miles from here) to pick up the few photos I ordered like the one on here and on the book cover, and it was raining over that way. Darrel had the cruise on, was driving a little too fast, hydroplaned and we went off the road, down into the ditch, out into the muddy field, back to the ditch, down the ditch to the next road crossing the highway--and finally back on the highway safely. Whew! Boy, was I ever praying! Unfortunately, when we got back to the county line, hardly a sprinkle. We may get some snow tonight, so they say.
While we were out doing errands, we also stopped by the watch and clock shop about 15 miles west of town to pick up our grandfather clock, grandmother clock and Amish clock. They all three needed repairs. Now I am hearing ticking, tocking and chiming again. :)
I didn't make it in to visit Beth today, so expect her to be calling soon. ;) I don't like to miss a day, but sometimes life interferes.
I see I have an order on the website, so will go package that up and have it ready to mail tomorrow.
Ruth Ann, your book should have been there before now! I mailed it the day after you ordered it! Do let me know when it arrives, will you?
If I don't move, my face will soon hit the keyboard zzzzzzzzzzzzzz :-\
Janet yes you can use that on the website
Thanks, Marilyn!
Jane, Curtis fixes stuff on my computer remotely, too. It is really quite interesting, isn't it? He set it up for me when I was in Wichita with Beth and he was in Los Lunas, N.M. in the Air Force. Now he's hosting my web page and keeping that in line for me. Glad he has patience with his non techie Grams. ;)
I have just finished reading what I have missed in the last few days.
Judy B : It was a pleasure having you for a short visit on your way home to the north.
About the gift cards with expiry dates we did have them here but for sure it was best to use them as soon as possible. I know of one instance that the store closed soon after we used the card. Now the cards are not dated but it is still best to use them as soon as possible.
I had some errands two drug stores for scripts. I them went to post office for the mail and waiting for me was Rising Above, thanks Janet. Mel will not be home tomorrow so I will be reading and doing laundry.
Thanks for letting me know it arrived, Ruth. Enjoy!
:) Good evening to all. Thank you to all for the prayer for me and that I got the cast of yesterday and my hand is still sore but next week I have to have physio next Tuesday and I have already been told that it can be very sore but I want it to get it better so Praise the Lord for the people that are able to help others and get you better.
I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and to be able to have a great time to Praise his name. Gordon and Noreen. :cp: :pine: :bananadance:
Two friends and I drove a little bit to the north of Nashville to Goodlettsville. One of the churches there had a "Country Jamboree" tonight complete with "Elvis", "the Blues Brothers", "Sonny & Cher," "Minnie Pearl", and "Dolly Parton."
It was amazingly good with everything from the band to all performers were members of that church, and what fun we had. The music was great, and dinner was super good. The teens of the church are working to make money for their next Christian event, so this was a wonderful way to make a little money, and everyone have great fun. The gym was literally packed with the audience, and there were professional-type lights, etc.
So, I'm very tired, but also quite relaxed.
Much love to all of y'all,
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. Rain moved into our area last night and I see it is 49 degrees this morning with less than 50% chance of light rain throughout the day and evening. I enjoyed having a full day at home yesterday. Today will be busier as after coffee this morning I will attend a meeting, come home and have lunch and rest for 90 minutes or so and then two other couples are coming over to play dominoes and then we will go out to eat together.
Etta Sue, the bonus card makes more sense on expiration. Glad you were able to use it. We haven't eaten at an Outback Steakhouse in a long time but have always enjoyed the food.
Jane, it really is amazing that the computer can be controlled from across the country when we give our approval. I expect we can all relate to family issues so don't feel alone in that regard. God sees us through each day when we keep focused on his will for our lives for today.
Janet, what an experience in your car. Guess you felt like you were on a carnival ride. Glad you got safely back on the road.
Gord, glad you are getting better day by day and will begin your therapy next week.
Janet: I finished your book last night, just before bedtime. Our Dear Lord truly guided you all through terrible times and your book is such an inspiration to us who have seen family members, trusting in Him, going terrifying events. I'm sure they said, "Why us?" many times. As you know my sister and brother-in-law lost two girls from NF, however they are being used by God as a testimony of how God never leaves your side, even in the worst of times.
I will continue to hold your family before our Heavenly Father in prayer.
I told a friend, who was visiting, about your book and she insists that I do a book report at our Book Club sometime soon. I will bring the topic up at our next meeting; I believe February 23rd.

I am getting antsy to leave! I remembered that I needed new AAA Tour Books so went to Noblesville this morning for them. We may not get to Carterville, GA, Tuesday night so needed tour books to find an AAA lodging in Tennessee maybe. Ivalou is slower than she used to be. Slow getting in and out of the car, slow in eating, slow in paying the bill, etc. So it may take more time to get where we want to go! But Cartersville is my destination for Tuesday night!
I keep putting things in the dining room to take. Not many clothes but laptop, laptop desk, knitting, tourbooks, etc.
Tony and Charlene are in Michigan with her two grandbabies. Luke is only 3 months old but almost 20lbs! He's a whopper! Looks like he ought to walk but he's still a baby!
I need to get busy at something so I had better close out! <: )) ))><<~~> <: )) ))><<~~< <: )) ))><<~~<

Safe travels, Etta Sue. I think I can identify with your sis - a little slower. ;)
Thankfully, it will be a quiet day. I confess I never got down to the laundry room, so this afternoon's laundry day. <rueful grin>
Y'all have a great day with our Lord.
Ruth Ann
No sun all day but I did manage to find the energy to do 4 loads of laundry.
Etta Sue safe travels.
Father & Son went ice fishing and all being well I expect them to be arriving home soon.
Ruth
Thank you so much, Ruth V. Please let me know how the book report goes. Wow! I never thought of that! Maybe others will want a copy of the book, too. I have no idea of the many ways God has planned to use the book; but my efforts are all for Him. Whatever uses He has for the book, may He receive all the glory.
When I went to visit Beth, she and John were on the phone, so I didn't stay long, but read her (them) another chapter of the book. She likes it.
Tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday. I was just thinking, wouldn't it be wonderful if all the money spent on peripheral stuff for Super Bowl Sunday could be used to promote the Kingdom of God?
I'm still thanking God for sparing us from having a really bad accident yesterday. We really have no idea of the things he saves us from--but occasionally, something like this reminds us. What a mighty, loving God we serve!
We had quite a day as Don said he would take me to three quilt shops and upon arriving, we saw that everyone was out-of-business - shame on this government. Tons of places closed & they were bragging about house sales in Phoenix lately, sure - to foreign investors. It is lovely that someone is buying the houses but at what price to people?
Also, I had such a good deal on a computer program to design quilts & when I installed the program, I found that it is exactly the same one I have had for years. Uff da :o Looking forward to a peaceful church service tomorrow.
Ruth Ann: Thank you for the Extendbar information. We certainly will want to try it because there have been a few mornings when he has needed something ASAP. I want him to meet with a better nutritionist as the first one really did not answer questions but pointed to her sheet of paper - just follow this guide. The information was vague.
Larry: Our grandson had a project for Eagle and he had to plan the project, "hire" volunteers, and supervise everything within a time limit. He is an only child much like his father so it was easy for him to tell everyone what they should do ^-^ So, there are a lot of eager volunteers getting ready for this boy here - I have never met him but so appreciate what others did to help our grandson.
Jane: Sometimes, I write a note and erase it - it just feels good to write it down.
We missed a 21 inch snowfall- even 2 feet near out house. Nothing in the mountains where it should have fallen. [/color]
Janet: There is nothing like a "close call" to remind us of how fragile our daily life can be and to be so thankful for our blessings. Hugs to you -
John and I had a wonderful dinner out, Swiss Chalet style. Time to reminisce about the past 41 years and plan for the coming year. Seems like we have been together forever, also it feels like it was just yesterday we were married. God is good.
The weather has been beautiful, I didn't wear a coat tonight, just the jacket from a suit I have. Met up with some friends we haven't seen in a long time, and had a chat.
Well it is late and I am heading to bed!
A beautiful sunny February morning, and a lovely start to a new week. That means a new "Thoughts for the Week", which you will find HERE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=12145.msg170546#msg170546)
