JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Who is the SHE you were referring to, Judy?

We rarely have a hymn at church.  I like most of the praise and worship songs, except for the really slow ones and don't really enjoy learning new ones that are draggy.  But the churches I have attended for the past 30+ years all used the chorus type songs, and I love most of them.  BUT.....I can still sing almost every word of every verse of every hymn we sang in the Baptist church where I grew up---and I LOVE those old hymns!!

Whew, what a day!  I told you about the kids coming and working.  This afternoon I pitted cherries and made three BIG cherry pies!  Yummy!  I am eating my second piece now (shame on me!)  Sure wish I had some vanilla ice cream to go with it, though!

We leave early in the morning for Amarillo again, will be staying overnight.  Doubt I will take my computer this time, so will see you when I get home, probably Thursday.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, last week was for the most part taken up with attending the annual Tennessee District meeting, which was held in Memphis. I hadn't been down to that area in 2-3 years, so also visited with my daughter's fiancee's family.

Oh, what a difference it was this time - one entire household has been converted, and I saw Bibles in both Spanish and English that had been studied thoroughly, with notes in the margins, various passages highlighted, etc. We had such a good time showing our favorite passages, using bible verses to answer new-Christian questions, etc!

My heart is rejoicing and I thoroughly enjoyed attending church with them yesterday. It was a completely Spanish-speaking church, but I still recognized and sang along with "How Great Thou Art" and also the chorus "How Great Is Our God."

When the minister reached the pulpit, he commented about sitting in front of someone who sang songs from memory in English as everyone else was singing in Spanish.

God is in the process of answering long-term prayers I've prayed for years.  :)

Hope to see y'all more in the future.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Etta Sue

My morning devotion let me know that the new songs are new ways to praise our Lord.  After singing them a few times, they, too, are old songs and we know them by heart also.  I will remember this when I am singing a repetitive song now.   ;)

As for posts from new members...nothing is mundane.  I remember a visitor from out of state saying how she loved our cornfields.  WHAT??  Those stalky things?  We take our cornfields for granted...a necessity for life in this area.  But for an 'outsider', I imagine that are things of beauty especially since there are so many.  Just like me the first time I saw red dirt in Alabama...I was oohing and aahing every time I saw red dirt in the fields.  Here the dirt is dark brown and some times almost black!

Another wonderful evening of viewing photos from the members in our Killbuck Photo Club.  I don't know if I have ever given you the website but if you want to view great photos, look
here. Skip mine...they are mundane!

Today I am going to Greenfield and to the Hancock County 4-H Fair.  I used to walk there every day when I lived in Greenfield and the fair was going on.  Some times twice a day!  It is predicting scattered thunderstorms but...it is fair week.  Always rain!

How Great Thou Art
(Click to hear music)

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Chorus

Have a great day everyone.  I will be gone off line most of today...weeds need pulling.

Jane Walker

Oh, Judy, when you're pulling weeds today, don't skip my yard!   :D

Seems like the weeds are determined to proliferate faster than I can get rid of them.  I'm about ready to just keep them trimmed and pretend they are a new sort of ground cover.

Hello everyone in C.P!!

I am very much one of the guilty ones. Being a Semi-newbie, I have only posted an average of three times a month. When I am at my computer, I'm usually doing bookkeeping, but always take time to read in the Thoughts of the Week, laugh at your good times and pray when you express a need. Recently I realized how much I was missing by not going into the other areas. I MUST post more often, even only to say "hi".  I don't travel much; my life being spent close to home, at church, at client's businesses or at my daughter's, so many times I feel no one would be interested.

I have voted in the last two Challenges and, not being a talented photographer, am very interested in who wins and read the comments to discover why I didn't choose that particular photo; if that was the case!!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

I had a busy morning as had a meeting to attend.  Then I went to Sam's Club and then Walmart and was able to get only one of the three items I needed.  I did have a nice nap this afternoon.

We just heard from our daughter to say she had gotten the letter from the State of Georgia saying she was denied disability.  So now she has to get a lawyer and I suggested she contact her congressman's office as they usually as a constituents person to help in dealing with situation like this.  My daughter-in-law had to do this several years ago.  Things are what they are.

RuthV, I can assure you that we are always interested in your postings.

Jane, are you enjoying your new computer?  Do you see an increase in speed even still having dialup.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you had an interesting experience at church yesterday.  Glad you were able to be there with your family.

Janet, have a piece of that cherry pie for me please.  However, agree you need some vanilla ice cream on it.

I sure am enjoying this new computer, Larry!  It is faster and much easier to use.   I am still getting used to it, and will be a while re-connecting to the websites I use for paying bills, etc.  That will happen as the bills come due, though.  No problem.

Ok folks, I'll come clean. Our church service opens with contemporary also. But then we
do the good stuff. :D   Just joking Judy. Larry made me say that.

Marilyn, I tried wearing earplugs, but my wife thought they were to help me sleep so she won't
let me wear them any longer. Hope it's ok, I told her it was your idea.

More rain this morning, LOTS of it. But I couldn't shoot hookie from work again so it was back to
the grinder. A nice day, but tiring from playing catch up.

That's OK with me Jim, of you think she will believe you? You know what the Bible says about those who lie.

I got some CD's from Heather today.  Carmen, Boltz, Francisco, and Mullins.  WOW what a time listening to Francisco I had.  The windows open and the radio cranked!  Thankfully the radio drowned out my singing but I was singing at the top of my voice!  That is what I call good music!!!

Another sauna type of day, I got my hair done then over to Bolton and took my aunt out for lunch followed with groceries at Wal Mart. I prefer other grocery stores but that is the only one she will now go to.  Oh well I will visit the others when I am alone.

Judy be careful that you don't loose your hearing with the volume cranked way up.

Marilyn:  I have ear plugs put good ones are hard to find as I really do not care for the foam type. I will keep looking.

Larry: You went to Sam's club and although we do have a Sam's club store our popular one is Cosco.

I did go to the Hancock County 4-H Fair yesterday.  Not a lot going on but so many changes in the last 9 years since I have been there.  New buildings.  Add-ons and such.  They now have a big building just for llamas, goats, rabbits and chickens.  HUGE rabbits...big as a medium size dog.   Pygmy goats that are sooo cute.  And llamas that had been sheared all except around it's head.  They looked like Tootsie-Roll pops!  Really fun.

Then I went to where I lived for 31 years.  Everything is so grown up...meaning the trees and such.  Some trees were cut down but where I kept them trimmed, they are 30 feet tall!  Kind of sad, really.  I also saw an old neighbor at the fair and talked to her for awhile.

Then I went to visit my best-friend and co-worker.  She started chemo and radiation for lung cancer in March.  I was so surprised to see how good she looked.  And healthy.  I could tell she was wearing a wig...finished her last treatment the first week of June.  She had some tests that showed 2/3 of the tumor is gone.  She is to find out today what is next.  They also want to do radiation on her brain since it is known that the type of cancer she has shows up in the brain eventually.  Preventive measure instead of curing after it is discovered.

One positive good thing that came out of Rose's cancer.....her and her husband, Jim, has found God.  Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior.  I was so happy to hear that.  As Jim said, 'With God, everything is possible!  Even curing Rose of her cancer.  And if she isn't cured, I know she will be resting in the arms of our Lord.'  What great words to hear for two dear friends.

Then I went to Kitty's.  I now have my three State Fair photo entries matted.  What a difference the mattes make!

Today I am going to the treasurer of the church's home.  Another lady and I are going to do a quick audit of the finances for the church.  I hope Judy knows what to do.  I have my calculator and will take some paper and pencils.  But I am sure that Diane has done a great job as a treasurer!

And it is to be in the 90's today so I plan to stay inside.  Not a puff in the sky either!!

ABBA, FATHER! WE APPROACH THEE
(Click to hear music)

Let us eat, and be merry:
For this my son was dead,
and is alive again.
Luke 15:24

Words: James G. Deck 1841 edition.
Music:  Beecher, John Zundel, 1870

Abba, Father! We approach Thee
In our Savior's precious Name;
We, Thy children, here assembled,
Now Thy promised blessing claim;
From our sins His blood hath washed us,
Tis through Him our souls draw nigh,
And Thy Spirit, too, hath taught us,
"Abba, Father" thus to cry.

Once as prodigals we wandered
In our folly far from Thee,
But Thy grace, o'er sin abounding,
Rescued us from misery;
Thou Thy prodigals hast pardoned,
Kissed us with a Father's love,
Spread the festive board, and called us,
E'er to dwell with Thee above.

Clothed in garments of salvation,
At Thy table is our place,
We rejoice, and Thou rejoicest,
In the riches of Thy grace;
It is meet, we hear Thee saying,
"We should be merry and be glad,
I have found My once lost children,
Now they live who once were dead."

"Abba, Father"! all adore Thee,
All rejoice in Heav'n above,
While in us they learn the wonders
Of Thy wisdom, grace, and love;
Soon before Thy throne assembled,
All Thy children shall proclaim,
"Glory, everlasting glory,
Be to God and to the Lamb!"

Hi, friends, I've been doing little things around the apartment this morning while listening to the news.

Tomorrow should be a fun day. A grandmother who cannot see to drive has her 2 grandchildren for the rest of the week, so we're going to drive to a neighboring town to let them play in the fire hoses water. I imagine the kids will all be screaming, running through the spray, and having a great time.

Tonight's a meeting at the church for the communications team.

Y'all have a wonderful day with our Lord.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is late afternoon and I am just now getting to CP to read the postings.

This has been a busy day.  After coffee this morning we attended the Bible Study where we finished our study of the Book of Daniel.  Our minister is going to be on vacation and we agreed to take a little summer break of three weeks and then will resume with our Bible Study group.

Following Bible study a number of us went across the street to Dunkin' Donuts and visited until noon.  I had a special luncheon planned with my friend from the choir to whom I sit next too when he is in town.  He and his wife travel the world and are gone a great deal.  We had a nice lunch and this was the first time we had gone out to eat.  It is his home where we have had the last two choir get-togethers.  We spent about 90 minutes over lunch.  I then came home and rested for a couple of hours.  I am staying home tonight.

Jim, now don't be blaming me. :)

Etta Sue, hope you enjoyed your auditing duties.  I spent the first 10 years of my work life as an auditor and have been called up several time to serve on an audit committee for organizations.  Being audited doesn't mean we expect to find problems but is an assurance to everyone that things are in proper order and if some problem is found it can be corrected.

Ruth, our Costco is not close for us and that is why we use Sam's.

Pat is having a problem with her eye again today.  It seems to change from day-to-day.  I sure hope this is just a part of the healing process from her surgery.  She will see the doctor again on Friday.

RuthV

I worked at home, today.. A beautiful sunny day, currently 28 C (82.4 F).  Besides bookkeeping, I did go out and mow 2/3 of our lawn.
My sister, who lives in Toronto, says it's HOT down there and her air conditioning unit is broken.

Ruth: I am torn between the two leagues. I grew up in Montreal, where they had the National League Expos (last season 2004) and the American League Blue Jays; however, since I moved to Northern Ontario I don't get baseball...

I am going to get away from the computer for a while. My husband even made supper so I could continue working!!

JudyB

Tell Everette he is a good man!  I don't "get" sports at all, especially in this heat.  I will try to get down to see you this week some time...we live so close yet so far!

Hi folks. My better half and I just got home from bible study at church and I thought I would check on everyone before turning in. Glad I did as I enjoyed reading the posts.
It was a good day at work, busy of course as usual. I did take time to visit for a while with one of the residents who has only a short time remaining I fear. He seemed in good spirit and we chatted about family mostly. I so wanted to ask if he knew Jesus. I have to be careful at times as not to offend anyone plus I didn't want to upset him by drawing attention to his health. I did, obviously linger, in leaving however. I will pray about it more tonight and see how I am lead tomorrow.

Larry, Pat remains in my prayers.

Etta Sue, it's such a blessing when someone accepts our Lord as saviour, I rejoice with them, with you and with my Master.

JudyB, a lovely song, thank you.

Marilyn not to fear, my wife knows me quite well. :)
A recovering sinner,

Hi everyone.

I have a quiet day planned as don't have to go anywhere after I get back from coffee.  Pat and I may go up and do early voting at the county seat.  It is really difficult to know who to vote for except I don't intend to vote for any incumbent. That probably won't help but it is a time for new blood.  I am very concerned about the way our country is going now.

Today is a week since Pat had her last eye surgery.  Yesterday was a bit better for her than the day before but still has a ways to go.

RuthV, it is nice to be able to work at home.  I did that for about 18 months before I retired.  I was able to work a 6 hour day and have time for rest in the afternoon.  With modern communication devices such as the computer I found it worked very well.

Jim, it is nice of you to spend time with the man who is so ill.  I am sure he appreciated it.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

:cheer: :cheer: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUDY!!And many more!  :cheer: :cheer:

We are home again, from Amarillo.  Darrel's check-up was good, and I am happy to tell you that we will both live for at least another year, because the heart doctor said, "See you in one year!"   ;)  And Darrel is getting hearing aids from the VA at NO cost, other than the appointment and the fitting, which will total $100.  We are thankful for that, as I have the identical ones, and mine cost $3500.00!  :o

I have a busy day ahead, starting with Beth's Care Plan meeting this morning.  We are praying about the house auction in Moscow this evening, as have decided to bid on the house for Curtis.  I have to go by and see the doctor about Beth today, too.  She isn't sick, it's about her computer.  Dr. Plumlee wants to get Beth a voice-activated computer thing so she can chat with her friends.  I need to find out what kind of computer it will be compatible with, as her computer quit.  Larry, can you help me out?  Would a small laptop work?  Or an e machine?  Neither Darrel nor I are very computer savvy.  :-\

I must get off here and spend some time in prayer with Darrel.  See you later!

Happy Birthday,
Judy B!

The auditing went fine.  Diane had everything organized and after she explained what each pile was, Judy and I checked things out two ways.  After a couple of months of checking everything, we then spot checked about about 10 areas in different months and gave Diane the  :thumbsup2:

Ivalou called last evening and wanted to go to Bob Evans.  I had already eaten but this is the first time she asked just to go eating so I thought to myself...even if I bust, I will take her so she can eat.  It was a very good time.

Okay, CPers!  I am asking for prayer.  Our minister called and asked me to come up front Sunday and tell the congregation what I told the council members.  Would I be comfortable in doing that?  NO!  But I told him I would think about it and let him know.  I will do it.  With God beside me, I can do anything.  Our little church is in financial trouble and my little 2-3 minute talk will be about me having money for my needs and most of my wants after I started tithing and even now that I am giving 50% more above my tithing, I still have money for my needs and most of my wants.

I am sure not one to get in front of a bunch of people and talk.  In the background, yes!  And one on one, I can talk a leg off ya!  But God will help me but I am still asking for prayers of strength and calmness.  Thank you.

Today Kitty and I are going swimming. We also have to renew our membership.  We were quoted a high number that includes everything at the center.  Basketball (can you see two old women playing basketball), all the exercise machines, a walking course, etc.  But last year we only paid for Aquatics.  So we are going to enter at the outdoor pool where it seems to be older people at the desk.  Maybe the young ones weren't versed on Senior wants.  Pray for that also!  We were quoted a month ago for just Aquatics, then three weeks later the young gal said we have to pay for all of it!

Then I am making Zucchini Bread for the church bake sale at the Farmer's Market for Saturday.

Happy Birthday, JudyB

Larry: I have been working from home, partially, for most of the six years I have been up here. The other times I go to client's workplace.  I should retire, one of these days; however I do enjoy the work!

Etta Sue: I can vouch for the fact that our Marvellous God supplies our needs, when we obey him in tithing. I am amazed how he supplies and provides! In my younger years, I gave but didn't tithe and I was often stressed about covering the bills. I now know that the "first fruits" are His! My prayers are with you! If your message gets through, your church will see God's richest blessings, because that is the way He planned it!

It has been a mainly cloudy day here. We had a spot of rain, a few minutes of sun and very moderate temperatures. (73.4 F currently)
