Morning Devotional...

More Appearances of Jesus
John 20:24--21:14 NLT
One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), was not with the others when Jesus came.  They told him, "We have seen the Lord!"

But he replied, "I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side."

Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. "Peace be with you," he said.  Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!"

"My Lord and my God!" Thomas exclaimed.

Then Jesus told him, "You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me."

The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book.  But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.

Later, Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is how it happened.  Several of the disciples were there—Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.

Simon Peter said, "I'm going fishing."

"We'll come, too," they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night.

At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn't see who he was.  He called out, "Fellows, have you caught any fish?"

   "No," they replied.

Then he said, "Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you'll get some!" So they did, and they couldn't haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.

Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, "It's the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and headed to shore.  The others stayed with the boat and pulled the loaded net to the shore, for they were only about a hundred yards from shore.  When they got there, they found breakfast waiting for them—fish cooking over a charcoal fire, and some bread.

"Bring some of the fish you've just caught," Jesus said.  So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore. There were 153 large fish, and yet the net hadn't torn.

"Now come and have some breakfast!" Jesus said. None of the disciples dared to ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord.  Then Jesus served them the bread and the fish.  This was the third time Jesus had appeared to his disciples since he had been raised from the dead.

Jesus wasn't hard on Thomas for his doubts.  Despite his skepticism, Thomas was still loyal to the believers and to Jesus himself.

Some people need to doubt before they believe.  If doubt leads to questions and questions lead to answers and the answers are accepted, then doubt has done good work.  It is when doubt becomes stubbornness, and stubbornness becomes a lifestyle that doubt harms faith.

When you doubt, don't stop there, but let your doubt deepen your faith as you continue to search for the answer.

Sorry about posting the same post twice yesterday.  With the trouble I had, it's a wonder it was only twice!  My animations are just not working on CP.  I can't preview a post at all.  As soon as I click 'preview', at the bottom it says 'done'.  Then when I click 'post', it doesn't do anything.  So I copy my post and open a different Thoughts and post there and it will go.  Yesterday they both must have posted!  Sorry.

Church was great even though I messed up a few times with the overhead projector system.  Then five of us ladies went to Cracker Barrel for lunch.  I love Cracker Barrel...all except the noise.  It is a noisy place!  I just got home and now I think Inky and I will take a nap!

I have deleted a couple for you Etta Sue, There seems to be a glitch somewhere in your programming.  It will get sorted out.  Try hitting prieview before you post...that may work.

Thank you for the devotional.. Reminds me of a hymn More about Jesus would I know..... I will see later if we have it.

Etta Sue:  Many thanks for the weekly devotion - I so appreciate all the work you and others put into this timely effort that holds us through each part of a month.  LOL on your comment on noisy restaurants as we do not return to those where we cannot speak and hear each other.  Actually, we don't go out that much anymore & do ask for the music to be turned down when it is possible.

Please ignore my inept attempt to post a picture in the photo place.  Picasa is something I have not learned & cannot deal with it today.

It is a wonderful Sunday here with clouds building so the promise of rain somewhere.

Etta Sue, don't worry about it--we would rather hear from you twice than not at all.  And I love the animations!

We went to Sunday school and church, and when we got home we couldn't decide what to have for lunch.  So I made us each a big salad with lots of veggies, we ate that, then Darrel cut a watermelon, which was a really good one.  After eating some of that, I don't think either of us could hold another bite!

Our church is responsible for the afternoon church services at the home this month, so I think I will go this afternoon.  It helps to have extra people to help with the singing, etc.

John arrives next Saturday!!  Beth is so excited!!  :)

Our day started out cool in fact I opened windows then as the day wore on it got warmer and warmer followed by a rain storm in the afternoon.

As you all know I come and visit but do not always have anything to say.  Yesterday we had cousins come for a visit, they do not come often as he is younger than us, he has a new lady friend of whom is so very nice, although she is younger we can have a wonderful conversation, as well as hobby in common, did not happen with his past friends.

Speaking for what I know there is a lot of behind the scenes conversation so how can it be possible for the rest of us to be up to date on what is going on.  Many folk come and are gone is this the reason why?  For me with the web owner is away most of the time making it is a struggle to keep interested.

I have often thought the same thing, with so many of the moderators  having conversations behind the scenes that we know nothing about how can we keep up to date and have much to say or to comment on, even pray about for those who need prayer. I come to visit here several times every day and often times do not say anything for several days, When I do it is almost like I haven't even been here. I rarely posts photo anymore for the same reason. I hope I have not hurt anyone's feelings. There are a few very kind people who acknowledge my comments and my photos and I thank you very much for making me feel that I belong here.

I will go back to my corner now but I will be back whether say something or not I am here reading.

Ruth and Marilyn, I'm sorry you feel this way.  I don't always know what is being talked about either, but just figure I have missed some posts somewhere along the line.  Very little is said "behind the scenes" other than discussions as to whose turn it is to do the devotional, etc.  Of course, I can only speak for myself, but I don't think any of us would intentionally cause anyone to feel ignored or overlooked.  When I don't comment about what someone has been doing (household chores, pet care, etc. etc.) it is only because I don't feel my comments would add to the value of the conversation.

I know Pat is living a very different and much busier life now than before she remarried.  This doesn't mean she doesn't still love us and care about this site, but she has had, and continues to have, issues with her shoulder which make typing difficult and painful for her.  So please give her space to heal, and consider what you might feel if in her place.  End of sermon.... ;)

Ruth, I always smile when I see that you have posted.  I enjoy your comments, and consider you a friend, though we haven't yet met.  And I sometimes feel overlooked, just as you and Marilyn said, but know it isn't intentional, so just let it go.  We don't have many posting now, what their reasons are I do not know, but I still love this site and come every day to read and usually post something.

I'm  :-[ to say I have forgotten how to post photos, but one of these days "when my life slows down" I will go to the tutorial and see if I can figure it out again.  My time has been so full for the past year and more that I haven't thought much about it.

I hope you both will receive this in the loving way I mean it, and will continue to add to the site with your postings, comments, photos, etc.  You know we love you!   :)

I was just talking to Pat,  She was saying that she has deer walking under her balcony!  Wow How I would love to go down and visit, unfortunately our vehicle wouldn't make the trip.

They were out with family tonight.  I am so glad Pat is able to travel like this, what every retired couple would like to enjoy.  We should continue to pray Gods blessing on her travels.

Janet perhaps we can learn together. Jeanne has posted the instructions...I learn with more of a watch, see, and do approach.  Just reading the instructions is sometimes difficult.

Etta Sue Pat said not to worry about the double posts...

Now to find that hymn!

In church we sing mainly the more Christian Contemporary Music.  But I really love these "Hymn Book" hymns.  They are good food for the soul.

Good morning!!!  It's beautiful here this morning and it's supposed to be just a perfect day.  Hmmm.  Guess I'd better rethink that.  Every day, whether it's sunny and warm, hot and muggy, thunder & lightning, bitter cold, icy, snowy, windy, rainy...  is what the Lord has provided and that makes it a perfect day!

Thank you, Lord, for the night that just ended and the new day that's beginning.  Whatever it brings I need to remember that YOU are in charge, and that it's just exactly right.

Janet it is mostly the "old timers posting in this thread anymore. By old timers I mean those who have been here since day one ( not with age)   when this site was opened and  many of those no longer post here.

My feelings are not hurt, I was only getting something off my chest that  I have  internalized for a long time. I am as guilty as the next person about not acknowledging other people's posts.

By the way what happened to Don isn't he the one with the nursery and also a moderator in photos.

Well hello there Al you have been silent for awhile too. How are you doing? Is Marbeth back to the quilting group yet?

Judy thank you for the update on Pat. Traveling back and forth so often must get tedious after awhile. Too bad she just can't stay in one place for the 6 months she has to be in Canada and 6 months in Virginia.

I have a friend who is traveling  through Oregon and Washington and camping in her van at rest stops and campgrounds for a month. She has been posting some fantastic photos  on Google Picasa  site. She lives in Southern California. Oh the life of   being on the road, I would love to do that.

We have been talking about getting a van and going to North Carolina to visit Keith;s sister and my son who also lives there, stopping along the way to visit some of the ladies I have met through S&F. That won't happen until after Kieth retires and we can  afford to board the dogs for at least a month, for the 8 days we were at Sunriver it cost us $190 for the two dogs that included baths and we supplied all their food so there would be no changes in their diet.

Well, I'm so sorry but I wasn't going to mention this but, since it's public, I guess I must.

I'm not sure if all of you know that I severely injured my right arm and shoulder last mid-October.  I didn't tear anything, but worse, I "overstretched every muscle and tendon" in that arm and the pain has  been excruciating for so many months.  I have been unable to do anything much at all.  I didn't take any photos for several months as I couldn't hold my camera.  I didn't visit Virginia from the end of October until May as I couldn't drive.  I couldn't put cups and saucers away as I couldn't lift them into the cupboards, or stirs what needed to be cooked or wash my hair, etc. etc.  The stress of all of this and the pain in this arm and shoulder, and, due to an old surgery I had in 2002 in the very same area, brought on old problems with my left arm and shoulder that were as a result of a bus driving injury many years ago when instructing.

Anyway, that's why the "webowner" has been AWOL on this site and the other three sites she's on.  ;)

But...  I have a wonderful Team who look after the sites and I don't know how we'd go on without them.  So, week by week I've been able to read the posts on Christian Photographers but not type replies to them.  And I'm not one to speak of my health problems in public.  As much as I can, I keep them private.

So...  That's why the "webowner" has been absent from this site the better part of the year.  But let me assure you also that there is no conversation going on behind the scenes among us!!! --except that the team I've chosen to help run this site have assured me from time to time that they have been praying for me during this terrible time.

GOD IS GOOD!!! ALL THE TIME!!  ALL THE TIME, GOD IS GOOD!!

We have 7 young people here today, doing work for us!  They are from Ulysses, Oklahoma City, and West Palm Beach, Florida!!  They are holding a vacation Bible school at the Church of Christ in the evenings, and doing volunteer service work during the days.  Isn't that just the neatest thing?  They had a sign-up sheet at the Senior Center a couple weeks ago for you to put your name, address and whatever work you wanted done.  So I wrote down sweeping and mopping the garage floor.  It is painted, so not too hard to do, but still a lot of work because it is 100 feet long!

So this morning, seven kids showed up, ready to work!  Five boys are now busily mopping, and the two girls are picking cherries!  We have put off and put off getting the garage in shape because we had so much of Beth's stuff in the way.  This put the push on us and we got out there at 7 this morning and got things moved and as organized as possible in a short time.  It will be SO nice to have it cleaned up again!  That last dog we had really left a lot of puddles which dried to ugly yellow-brown spots.  We had swept up all the little hard "stuff."

Anyway, I think that is the nicest thing, for kids to want to work and help folks out like that.  Proves you don't need to leave the country to do missions work, there is a lot to be done all around us.  I feel I am reaping a part of the harvest that I have tried to sow along through the years.

Praise the Lord!!  Now I better go see if the kids need anything.

Well, thanks, Pat!  I thought you were scarce because you were busy being re-married!  Now to find out it was because of injuring your arm again.  That's no fun!  Prayers are with you and Paul.

I am trying my animations again today.  I do 'preview' but it doesn't 'preview' when I use animations.  Then I 'post' and it doesn't post...or so I thought.  Then I open a new CP Thoughts and just 'post'.  Now I am finding out that I have had 2 posts.  This time I am not going to 'preview' and see what happens.  I can't say it is CP since I don't use my animations anywhere else on the 'wonderful wide world of web'!  What does the www. mean in a web address anyway?

Inky and I took our nap yesterday and therefore, it was hard to get to sleep last night.  Here I have this new bed and now I don't have to get up a half-a-dozen times a night and I can't go to sleep and stay there!  Maybe I need to work more and make myself tired and stay awake during the day.  But I only nap on Sunday afternoons.  I know...take my problems to God.  He can do anything!  Now why didn't I think of that?  :idiot:

This evening is Photo Guild.  I would really like to go get some groceries but don't know if I will do that today or tomorrow.  Decisions...decisions!

Hi everyone.  I am having a relaxed morning and in a little while will attend my Monday men's luncheon, as I do each week.

I discovered yesterday that the new dishwasher we got last week qualifies for a $99 rebate through a state program.  So this morning I finished up the required paperwork and have it in the mail.

I spent last evening reading rather than watching TV and using the computer.  I really need to do more of that as do so enjoy reading.

Pat, nice to see your posting and sure hope you are feeling better.  I know it is a concern that not many new folks seem to join us and post here.  Perhaps we need to more often leave a little comment in our postings about how much we welcome new folks to join us and that they will quickly feel a part of the "CP family".  I know it is important that we post something, regardless of how trivial it might be, so there is current activity when someone new looks in on the discussion.  The bonds of friendship are built quickly when a person is willing to put forth the effort to make a posting fairly regularly.  I do think we must realize that not all folks enjoy this type of conversation or some may feel they don't have the time to post but perhaps still enjoy reading the postings.

I well remember when I first went into the general conversation area on the old SeniorNet.  I told myself why would anyone want to do that but I quickly discovered how quickly friendships were formed and how welcoming folks are if I am willing to do my part.  Guess I had better get off my soapbox.

Janet, glad to hear that John is coming again to visit with Beth.  I am sure they both benefit greatly from the visit and that it brings joy to your heart to see the joy in Beth.  Is Darrel feeling better.

Marilyn, I understand about the cost of boarding pets.  We did that with our cat and it was very expensive.  The fellow I pickup each morning to take to coffee and his wife have three cats and when they go to Pittsburgh to visit family, as they are currently doing, they take the three cats with them.  That doesn't sound very pleasant to me but he said they get along well doing this.

Jeanne, I agree with your prayer and try to make that my prayer that I look for God's will in my life and will do that which is pleasing to the Lord.  I know I often fail but keep trying.

Judy, I have to admit that I just do not enjoy contemporary music if it is accompanied by loud music.  Guess I am showing my age.

Ruth, I always enjoy seeing your postings regardless of content.  I feel this way about everyone who posts.  As Janet said, sometimes I don't have anything to comment to the person posting that will add to the conversation.  However, I seldom let that stop me.   :o

Pat rest assured that you are prayed for.  I just wish I could have been down there to help after many a phone conversation.    Love You Sis

John is leaving later today to go to Guelph prepared to fly (on an airplane) to St John NB to pick up an International to drive till who knows when.  The Peterbuilt he is driving is off lease at the end of this month.  Back in the early 80's we had a Pinto that was a real lemon that we really disliked..  Saying that you will understand this statement.  John is going from a Cadillac to a Pinto.  These decisions are being made behind closed doors and the men and women on the lower levels want to know what is going on, but frankly it is a MYOB situation.   I am one who wants to know.  Time will tell what will happen.

John and I have worked hard at the garden this year.  We have doubled its size.  Half is being tilled regularly and we are working between the rows .  We are about 2 weeks behind the rest as John wasn't available to work the ground up.  But what we have is doing really well. All in bloom and doing well.

Gotta go

Janet, how great that those young people are helping wherever help is needed!  And helping willingly and cheerfully, I'm sure.  And now each time you see that clean garage floor you will get a renewed blessing remembering their efforts today.  :cheer:

Etta Sue, hooray that you've found the answer for posting your animations!  I miss them when you don't include them.

It's fine that the "regulars" post here in Thoughts, and the more the merrier.  I love to come here and see who all has left a message.

But this isn't the only discussion on Christian Photographers.  :)
There are so many other categories and such beautiful photos are being posted by some very talented photographers!  And there are many more pictures in albums in the Gallery that aren't always posted, but what a blessing it is to wander through those collections, too.  I sometimes get so involved in admiring them that I forget the time.   :D

Judy, I hope the International works out better for John than you and he are expecting.  I know nothing about the big rigs so can't make any comparison, but I'm certain you know exactly what you're talking about!   :)

Pat, I've been - and continue - praying for healing in your shoulders.  And trying to keep from messing up too much here.  <3

I think it would be great if some of those who only post photos and comments in photos would come to this thread and post here so we can get to know them better. Any suggestions on how to get them here?

Thank you Etta Sue the the devotional this week. I do look forward to your posts, you always let us know  about your day and about Ivalou although I don't see you saying much about Ali  anymore.

Janet how great that  you have the kids coming to so mission work at your place.

Marilyn, yes it would be great if we could lure some of the photographers here.  But, that works both ways, you know!   ;D  It would be great, too, if those who post only here would look at and comment on some of the fantastic photos.   Comments don't need to be "critiques" - for sure I'm not qualified for that, but I do like to at least let folks know I've seen their pictures.

I know it's just an echo of what others have said, but it's absolutely true that there are many posts in Christian Phot. that aren't in "Thoughts."  I make it a practice to look at the many, many categories of photos, and there are indeed some absolutely excellent photos - and they can and should be commented upon by those who see them.  I think I can guarantee that if you start looking at and commenting on the photos, you'll take more time than you can easily allow.

I awoke to RAIN this morning for the first time in what seems forever. It was greatly appreciated not only by myself, but the lawn and garden as well. Goodness, it's been so long. I celebrated by shooting hookie from work.  :D  I rarely do that by the way.

Judy: I'm not overly fond of contemporary music either. I guess I too am showing Larry's age.

Everyone:  Here's hoping you have a blessed and wonderful day!

Our service opens with a "Praise and Worship" segment with three or four rousing contemporary (and extremely repetitive) praise choruses.  Then the "Praise Team" of enthusiastic young people takes their seats with the rest of the congregation and during the rest of the service we sing two or three traditional hymns from the hymnal.  So we have something for everyone.

I enjoy the Contemporary, and have it on the TV most of the day.  But I also really enjoy the old hymns.  I still have teens here and that makes a difference for me.  I don't like all her music, but for the most part she is fairly close to what I do like.

I like the Contemporary Praise and Worship as long as the music isn't so loud I have to ear earplugs and I like them to throw in a Hymn now and then too. I always take my earplugs to church with me because it seems like the music is always too loud anymore.

Jeanne and Al I will try to be better about commenting on the photos I look at.

Who is the SHE you were referring to, Judy?

We rarely have a hymn at church.  I like most of the praise and worship songs, except for the really slow ones and don't really enjoy learning new ones that are draggy.  But the churches I have attended for the past 30+ years all used the chorus type songs, and I love most of them.  BUT.....I can still sing almost every word of every verse of every hymn we sang in the Baptist church where I grew up---and I LOVE those old hymns!!

Whew, what a day!  I told you about the kids coming and working.  This afternoon I pitted cherries and made three BIG cherry pies!  Yummy!  I am eating my second piece now (shame on me!)  Sure wish I had some vanilla ice cream to go with it, though!

We leave early in the morning for Amarillo again, will be staying overnight.  Doubt I will take my computer this time, so will see you when I get home, probably Thursday.

Hi, friends, last week was for the most part taken up with attending the annual Tennessee District meeting, which was held in Memphis. I hadn't been down to that area in 2-3 years, so also visited with my daughter's fiancee's family.

Oh, what a difference it was this time - one entire household has been converted, and I saw Bibles in both Spanish and English that had been studied thoroughly, with notes in the margins, various passages highlighted, etc. We had such a good time showing our favorite passages, using bible verses to answer new-Christian questions, etc!

My heart is rejoicing and I thoroughly enjoyed attending church with them yesterday. It was a completely Spanish-speaking church, but I still recognized and sang along with "How Great Thou Art" and also the chorus "How Great Is Our God."

When the minister reached the pulpit, he commented about sitting in front of someone who sang songs from memory in English as everyone else was singing in Spanish.

God is in the process of answering long-term prayers I've prayed for years.  :)

Hope to see y'all more in the future.

My morning devotion let me know that the new songs are new ways to praise our Lord.  After singing them a few times, they, too, are old songs and we know them by heart also.  I will remember this when I am singing a repetitive song now.   ;)

As for posts from new members...nothing is mundane.  I remember a visitor from out of state saying how she loved our cornfields.  WHAT??  Those stalky things?  We take our cornfields for granted...a necessity for life in this area.  But for an 'outsider', I imagine that are things of beauty especially since there are so many.  Just like me the first time I saw red dirt in Alabama...I was oohing and aahing every time I saw red dirt in the fields.  Here the dirt is dark brown and some times almost black!

Another wonderful evening of viewing photos from the members in our Killbuck Photo Club.  I don't know if I have ever given you the website but if you want to view great photos, look
here (http://www.killbuckphoto.com/). Skip mine...they are mundane!

Today I am going to Greenfield and to the Hancock County 4-H Fair.  I used to walk there every day when I lived in Greenfield and the fair was going on.  Some times twice a day!  It is predicting scattered thunderstorms but...it is fair week.  Always rain!

How Great Thou Art (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/howgreat.mid)
(Click to hear music)

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Chorus

Hello everyone in C.P!!

I am very much one of the guilty ones. Being a Semi-newbie, I have only posted an average of three times a month. When I am at my computer, I'm usually doing bookkeeping, but always take time to read in the Thoughts of the Week, laugh at your good times and pray when you express a need. Recently I realized how much I was missing by not going into the other areas. I MUST post more often, even only to say "hi".  I don't travel much; my life being spent close to home, at church, at client's businesses or at my daughter's, so many times I feel no one would be interested.

I have voted in the last two Challenges and, not being a talented photographer, am very interested in who wins and read the comments to discover why I didn't choose that particular photo; if that was the case!!

Hi everyone.

I had a busy morning as had a meeting to attend.  Then I went to Sam's Club and then Walmart and was able to get only one of the three items I needed.  I did have a nice nap this afternoon.

We just heard from our daughter to say she had gotten the letter from the State of Georgia saying she was denied disability.  So now she has to get a lawyer and I suggested she contact her congressman's office as they usually as a constituents person to help in dealing with situation like this.  My daughter-in-law had to do this several years ago.  Things are what they are.

RuthV, I can assure you that we are always interested in your postings.

Jane, are you enjoying your new computer?  Do you see an increase in speed even still having dialup.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you had an interesting experience at church yesterday.  Glad you were able to be there with your family.

Janet, have a piece of that cherry pie for me please.  However, agree you need some vanilla ice cream on it.

I sure am enjoying this new computer, Larry!  It is faster and much easier to use.   I am still getting used to it, and will be a while re-connecting to the websites I use for paying bills, etc.  That will happen as the bills come due, though.  No problem.

Ok folks, I'll come clean. Our church service opens with contemporary also. But then we
do the good stuff. :D   Just joking Judy. Larry made me say that.

Marilyn, I tried wearing earplugs, but my wife thought they were to help me sleep so she won't
let me wear them any longer. Hope it's ok, I told her it was your idea.

More rain this morning, LOTS of it. But I couldn't shoot hookie from work again so it was back to
the grinder. A nice day, but tiring from playing catch up.

Another sauna type of day, I got my hair done then over to Bolton and took my aunt out for lunch followed with groceries at Wal Mart. I prefer other grocery stores but that is the only one she will now go to.  Oh well I will visit the others when I am alone.

Judy be careful that you don't loose your hearing with the volume cranked way up.

Marilyn:  I have ear plugs put good ones are hard to find as I really do not care for the foam type. I will keep looking.

Larry: You went to Sam's club and although we do have a Sam's club store our popular one is Cosco.

I did go to the Hancock County 4-H Fair yesterday.  Not a lot going on but so many changes in the last 9 years since I have been there.  New buildings.  Add-ons and such.  They now have a big building just for llamas, goats, rabbits and chickens.  HUGE rabbits...big as a medium size dog.   Pygmy goats that are sooo cute.  And llamas that had been sheared all except around it's head.  They looked like Tootsie-Roll pops!  Really fun.

Then I went to where I lived for 31 years.  Everything is so grown up...meaning the trees and such.  Some trees were cut down but where I kept them trimmed, they are 30 feet tall!  Kind of sad, really.  I also saw an old neighbor at the fair and talked to her for awhile.

Then I went to visit my best-friend and co-worker.  She started chemo and radiation for lung cancer in March.  I was so surprised to see how good she looked.  And healthy.  I could tell she was wearing a wig...finished her last treatment the first week of June.  She had some tests that showed 2/3 of the tumor is gone.  She is to find out today what is next.  They also want to do radiation on her brain since it is known that the type of cancer she has shows up in the brain eventually.  Preventive measure instead of curing after it is discovered.

One positive good thing that came out of Rose's cancer.....her and her husband, Jim, has found God.  Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior.  I was so happy to hear that.  As Jim said, 'With God, everything is possible!  Even curing Rose of her cancer.  And if she isn't cured, I know she will be resting in the arms of our Lord.'  What great words to hear for two dear friends.

Then I went to Kitty's.  I now have my three State Fair photo entries matted.  What a difference the mattes make!

Today I am going to the treasurer of the church's home.  Another lady and I are going to do a quick audit of the finances for the church.  I hope Judy knows what to do.  I have my calculator and will take some paper and pencils.  But I am sure that Diane has done a great job as a treasurer!

And it is to be in the 90's today so I plan to stay inside.  Not a puff in the sky either!!

ABBA, FATHER! WE APPROACH THEE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/beecher.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Let us eat, and be merry:
For this my son was dead,
and is alive again.
Luke 15:24

Words: James G. Deck 1841 edition.
Music:  Beecher, John Zundel, 1870

Abba, Father! We approach Thee
In our Savior's precious Name;
We, Thy children, here assembled,
Now Thy promised blessing claim;
From our sins His blood hath washed us,
Tis through Him our souls draw nigh,
And Thy Spirit, too, hath taught us,
"Abba, Father" thus to cry.

Once as prodigals we wandered
In our folly far from Thee,
But Thy grace, o'er sin abounding,
Rescued us from misery;
Thou Thy prodigals hast pardoned,
Kissed us with a Father's love,
Spread the festive board, and called us,
E'er to dwell with Thee above.

Clothed in garments of salvation,
At Thy table is our place,
We rejoice, and Thou rejoicest,
In the riches of Thy grace;
It is meet, we hear Thee saying,
"We should be merry and be glad,
I have found My once lost children,
Now they live who once were dead."

"Abba, Father"! all adore Thee,
All rejoice in Heav'n above,
While in us they learn the wonders
Of Thy wisdom, grace, and love;
Soon before Thy throne assembled,
All Thy children shall proclaim,
"Glory, everlasting glory,
Be to God and to the Lamb!"

Hi, friends, I've been doing little things around the apartment this morning while listening to the news.

Tomorrow should be a fun day. A grandmother who cannot see to drive has her 2 grandchildren for the rest of the week, so we're going to drive to a neighboring town to let them play in the fire hoses water. I imagine the kids will all be screaming, running through the spray, and having a great time.

Tonight's a meeting at the church for the communications team.

Y'all have a wonderful day with our Lord.

Hi everyone.  It is late afternoon and I am just now getting to CP to read the postings.

This has been a busy day.  After coffee this morning we attended the Bible Study where we finished our study of the Book of Daniel.  Our minister is going to be on vacation and we agreed to take a little summer break of three weeks and then will resume with our Bible Study group.

Following Bible study a number of us went across the street to Dunkin' Donuts and visited until noon.  I had a special luncheon planned with my friend from the choir to whom I sit next too when he is in town.  He and his wife travel the world and are gone a great deal.  We had a nice lunch and this was the first time we had gone out to eat.  It is his home where we have had the last two choir get-togethers.  We spent about 90 minutes over lunch.  I then came home and rested for a couple of hours.  I am staying home tonight.

Jim, now don't be blaming me. :)

Etta Sue, hope you enjoyed your auditing duties.  I spent the first 10 years of my work life as an auditor and have been called up several time to serve on an audit committee for organizations.  Being audited doesn't mean we expect to find problems but is an assurance to everyone that things are in proper order and if some problem is found it can be corrected.

Ruth, our Costco is not close for us and that is why we use Sam's.

Pat is having a problem with her eye again today.  It seems to change from day-to-day.  I sure hope this is just a part of the healing process from her surgery.  She will see the doctor again on Friday.

I worked at home, today.. A beautiful sunny day, currently 28 C (82.4 F).  Besides bookkeeping, I did go out and mow 2/3 of our lawn.
My sister, who lives in Toronto, says it's HOT down there and her air conditioning unit is broken.

Ruth: I am torn between the two leagues. I grew up in Montreal, where they had the National League Expos (last season 2004) and the American League Blue Jays; however, since I moved to Northern Ontario I don't get baseball...

I am going to get away from the computer for a while. My husband even made supper so I could continue working!!

Hi folks. My better half and I just got home from bible study at church and I thought I would check on everyone before turning in. Glad I did as I enjoyed reading the posts.
It was a good day at work, busy of course as usual. I did take time to visit for a while with one of the residents who has only a short time remaining I fear. He seemed in good spirit and we chatted about family mostly. I so wanted to ask if he knew Jesus. I have to be careful at times as not to offend anyone plus I didn't want to upset him by drawing attention to his health. I did, obviously linger, in leaving however. I will pray about it more tonight and see how I am lead tomorrow.

Larry, Pat remains in my prayers.

Etta Sue, it's such a blessing when someone accepts our Lord as saviour, I rejoice with them, with you and with my Master.

JudyB, a lovely song, thank you.

Marilyn not to fear, my wife knows me quite well. :)

Hi everyone.

I have a quiet day planned as don't have to go anywhere after I get back from coffee.  Pat and I may go up and do early voting at the county seat.  It is really difficult to know who to vote for except I don't intend to vote for any incumbent. That probably won't help but it is a time for new blood.  I am very concerned about the way our country is going now.

Today is a week since Pat had her last eye surgery.  Yesterday was a bit better for her than the day before but still has a ways to go.

RuthV, it is nice to be able to work at home.  I did that for about 18 months before I retired.  I was able to work a 6 hour day and have time for rest in the afternoon.  With modern communication devices such as the computer I found it worked very well.

Jim, it is nice of you to spend time with the man who is so ill.  I am sure he appreciated it.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

We are home again, from Amarillo.  Darrel's check-up was good, and I am happy to tell you that we will both live for at least another year, because the heart doctor said, "See you in one year!"   ;)  And Darrel is getting hearing aids from the VA at NO cost, other than the appointment and the fitting, which will total $100.  We are thankful for that, as I have the identical ones, and mine cost $3500.00!  :o

I have a busy day ahead, starting with Beth's Care Plan meeting this morning.  We are praying about the house auction in Moscow this evening, as have decided to bid on the house for Curtis.  I have to go by and see the doctor about Beth today, too.  She isn't sick, it's about her computer.  Dr. Plumlee wants to get Beth a voice-activated computer thing so she can chat with her friends.  I need to find out what kind of computer it will be compatible with, as her computer quit.  Larry, can you help me out?  Would a small laptop work?  Or an e machine?  Neither Darrel nor I are very computer savvy.  :-\

I must get off here and spend some time in prayer with Darrel.  See you later!

Happy Birthday,
Judy B!

The auditing went fine.  Diane had everything organized and after she explained what each pile was, Judy and I checked things out two ways.  After a couple of months of checking everything, we then spot checked about about 10 areas in different months and gave Diane the  :thumbsup2:

Ivalou called last evening and wanted to go to Bob Evans.  I had already eaten but this is the first time she asked just to go eating so I thought to myself...even if I bust, I will take her so she can eat.  It was a very good time.

Okay, CPers!  I am asking for prayer.  Our minister called and asked me to come up front Sunday and tell the congregation what I told the council members.  Would I be comfortable in doing that?  NO!  But I told him I would think about it and let him know.  I will do it.  With God beside me, I can do anything.  Our little church is in financial trouble and my little 2-3 minute talk will be about me having money for my needs and most of my wants after I started tithing and even now that I am giving 50% more above my tithing, I still have money for my needs and most of my wants.

I am sure not one to get in front of a bunch of people and talk.  In the background, yes!  And one on one, I can talk a leg off ya!  But God will help me but I am still asking for prayers of strength and calmness.  Thank you.

Today Kitty and I are going swimming. We also have to renew our membership.  We were quoted a high number that includes everything at the center.  Basketball (can you see two old women playing basketball), all the exercise machines, a walking course, etc.  But last year we only paid for Aquatics.  So we are going to enter at the outdoor pool where it seems to be older people at the desk.  Maybe the young ones weren't versed on Senior wants.  Pray for that also!  We were quoted a month ago for just Aquatics, then three weeks later the young gal said we have to pay for all of it!

Then I am making Zucchini Bread for the church bake sale at the Farmer's Market for Saturday.

Happy Birthday, JudyB

Larry: I have been working from home, partially, for most of the six years I have been up here. The other times I go to client's workplace.  I should retire, one of these days; however I do enjoy the work!

Etta Sue: I can vouch for the fact that our Marvellous God supplies our needs, when we obey him in tithing. I am amazed how he supplies and provides! In my younger years, I gave but didn't tithe and I was often stressed about covering the bills. I now know that the "first fruits" are His! My prayers are with you! If your message gets through, your church will see God's richest blessings, because that is the way He planned it!

It has been a mainly cloudy day here. We had a spot of rain, a few minutes of sun and very moderate temperatures. (73.4 F currently)

Happy Birthday Judy  :hbirthday:

Speaking of Birthdays I phoned someone yesterday to wish her a happy birthday but no answer.

Ruth Ann:  Grandma cannot see to drive ??????????????  please explain

With hot summer days and retirement along comes being lazy or is it doing what needs to done when it needs and no more.  I choose to read and work on finishing up my counted cross stitch which was started a long long time ago.

Mel is outside cooking dinner on the BBQ so now I had best hurry and get the inside things ready.

Have a great rest of the day.     Ruth

Good for you, Etta Sue!  Your testimony of how God provides when we obey will be a good example to others, and you will be blessed for your obedience in sharing.  And I will be praying for you, too.

We will be leaving in less than one hour to go to the house auction.  Are you praying??  Thanks!!

Beth is so excited about John coming!  She couldn't talk about anything else today.  Bless their hearts, I am so glad they have each other.

I think I will rest a few minutes before we have to go.

Hi, Ruth!  We were posting at the same time.  I hope Ruth Ann doesn't mind if I answer your question.  I think she meant the kids' grandma can't see to drive, so she, Ruth Ann, is driving them to the water thing.  Hot here, too--over 100.  :P

Oh, Janet - praying just west of you....  Beth must be so excited.

There is a breeze & we are about to go and sit on the deck - it has been so hot today.  Praying for a son who had a colonoscopy this morning - they found a polyp that he may have had for ten years - he is much younger than the age health officials advice having the test.  Biopsy results next week - we are like most parents right now.

Marilyn:  I want the sister puppy to the one you gave JudyB - my birthday is in late August but I will be out of town.  Will pick up the puppy in September if that is alright with you and please have the little one house trained.   ;)  I am not asking for too much???

Tomorrow, finally, Don is to have nose cauterized.  He has been almost house bound with numerous nosebleeds.

Larry:  My husband says that there are two options for Stacey.
1:  Contact state insurance commissioner (that is the cheapest)
2:  Otherwise, get a Disability Attorney

State insurance commissioner cannot help if it is through Soc. Sec.

Carol how is Don's blood pressure.  I've known many with nose bleeds to have BP problems.

This has been an interesting day to say the least. It is now over and tomorrow I get a new fridge and stove.  I couldn't get the fridge I wanted, so got the one that would do and a stove like the one I have.  Happy with the stove.  My fridge has about given up the ghost.

Hi, friends,

First, Judy, hope your birthday was great.

Yes, I took the kids and their Grandma to the park to play in the water spray. The fire department hooked up one of their hoses to the fire hydrant and let the big nozzle spray 'way up in the air, so when the water fell, sometimes it was a mist, and sometimes droplets. Oh, my, how much fun to watch both the children as well as their grandma today!

After they were tired of the water, we stopped by the huge play gym which was all wood and featured steps, slides, little turrets on the castle where they could look out, bridges, a pole to slide down on, and all sorts of other features I couldn't see. I had decided that this day was to be a treat for the 3 of them, so I rolled the windows down in my little PT cruiser, opened the sun roof, and thoroughly enjoyed both the silence and also watching the pure joy each of them showed on their faces.

Naturally, I just HAD to take the long way home, so each of the children nodded off in a little nap, and their grandma and I had a good chat between us.

If they're available Saturday, I'd like to take them to our agricultural museum, where the feature of the day is called "Old Goats." The children will be able to pet the goats, try to learn to milk them, and other things, such as face painting.

Nashville has SO many great free summertime events for children, so there's almost always something going on - and nearly every thing is totally free.

Well, this tired ole great granny better head to bed. A blind lady who lives here is off from work tomorrow, so she wants to go eat breakfast together about 10:30 or 11:00.

Ahhhh, did I hear someone say "she seems busier now than when she was working!!???"

Y'all rest well tonight.

Ruth Ann

Yes, Ruth Ann---busier, but not nearly as stressed!  It's wonderful to read your happy sounding posts!  God bless you, you are such a giver, a true daughter of the King!

Carol, thank you for praying.  GOOD REPORT!!  We got the house for $33,000!  It had been on the market for over a year, starting at $78,000 and being reduced a little at a time to a final of $59,000.  Curtis is SO happy!  It's an old house, but very charming.  First thing he will need to do is re-wire it, as it has the old "tube and knob" type wiring, which is insufficient to carry the load of power needed for today's households.  It is a two-story, brick, with attic and full basement, four bedrooms, two baths, living room, dining room, office, kitchen with metal cabinets which are still in great shape, although I am sure the kids will want to replace them with others.  It also came with appliances--nice stove, refrigerator, washer and dryer.  They already have all those things, but they can sell them and help with paying for the house.  It also has a detached two-car garage, nice big back yard, fenced on two sides, and nice front yard.  Really, the only thing that needs attention now is the wiring, everything else is liveable as is.  Do you thing we got a good deal?  We do.  :)

Carol, I am praying for Don.  Nosebleeds must be awful to deal with; I have never had them, but have had friends who did, and always felt bad for them.

Larry, about Stacey.....if it hadn't been for a good friend of mine to whom the head gal in the Dodge City Social Security office owed a favor, I don't know how long it might have taken to get Beth's disability.  This friend talked to the gal, I sent her photos of Beth, along with letters from her doctors, and she went to bat for Beth and got her approved in record time.  This was after Beth's being denied twice already.  The main factor they seem to look at is age, which should not be the determining factor!  Beth had already contacted one of those lawyers who advertise on TV, and when I told the SS lady, she said, call him immediately and tell him you don't need him; otherwise the process will go on and on.  So I don't know what course to advise Stacey to take.  It really gripes me that so many able-bodied people get SS disability because of things like Bi-polar, etc.  But I'd best not go down that rabbit trail!  Oh, by the way, I agree with you about the mess our country is in, and getting new blood into office, bottom to top!

I need to get dressed, I have been up for hours (couldn't sleep) and will be going to my friend Pat's after my chiropractic appt. so she can color and style my hair.  It needs it!  :o

Hi everyone.  In a few minutes we head back over to Atlanta so Pat can have the next followup visit with the eye doctor.  It seems like it has been longer than a week since we had the surgery.  That is all that is on the schedule for today.

Yesterday while working on Pat's laptop, which I had on a little table I have to the left of my computer, I sort of pulled a muscle.  It hurt all evening even with using ice and heat and some Tylonol.  However, it feels fine today, as I expected.

Janet, I am sure the type of software that Beth needs that can be voice activated is available but I am not aware of what it is.  I doubt that it is a particular computer you need but rather software and a headset.  If you know of a hospital or special care place for paraplegics they might be able to direct you.  There is also probably a state agency that would have information.  I did a quick search on Google, but did not immediately see anything.  However, probably wasn't searching for the right thing when I put in "speech activated software".  Congrats on your successful  bid on the house.  It sounds like you got a real bargain.  Glad the checkups went so well.  Good news on the hearing aid front.  A number of my friends wear hearing aids and they really help them.

Ruth Ann, sounds like you all had a great time.

Belated Happy Birthday Judy.  These years do roll around don't they?  Hope you had a nice day.

Carol, our daughter has already contacted a lawyer that specializes in disability cases.  This is Social Security disability she is seeking.  I also suggested she contact her representatives office as it was this method that was of the most benefit for our daughter-in-law.  Tell Don thanks for the suggestions.

Ruth, it sounds like you are enjoying your retirement.  We stay busy but get to set our own schedules.

Etta Sue, place yourself in God's hands when you stand to speak.  He will give you the words that you need to speak.  Glad your auditing job went well.

My goodness, Janet!  A house like that, in that condition, would probably sell for close to $100,000, if not more, around here.  So, yes, I'd say you really got a bargain!!!

Larry, it isn't the software or whatever we need to get for Beth; her kind, generous doctor wants to purchase that for her.  What I need to know is what kind of computer to buy, as hers no longer works.  I'm hoping we won't need a desktop type with tower.  Will a laptop do the job?  Or possibly an e-machine?  Thanks for taking the time to google it!

And her special friend John wants to buy her a remote control that is voice-activated!  It warms this mom's heart that so many people love Beth.  It proves that her life has value, even though physically, she is not able to do anything.  Her mind is still sharp and that makes her our Beth.  Praise God.

:)  Jeanne, thanks!  That makes me feel better!  We are thinking Curtis will need to get a personal loan, as they might not make a real estate loan for that low an amount!  Isn't that a good problem to have??  God is so good!

Time for afternoon iced :coffee:
Not as hummid today although it is just as warm the gentle breeze makes a difference.
I have a large size toaster oven which helps to reduce the use of the full size oven, one thing I will or perhaps think about another time is bake the type of cake that rises above the sides of the dish it just might burn it you do not watch.  I did cut the burnt part off and it was good. I have bakes chicken, meat loaf, muffins, and even cookies this morning was chicken and tonight it will be meat loaf in muffin tins.

Janet:  Just a suggestion as Beth's Dr. what kind of computer as I would bet that he knows.

You should have a very pleased grandson.  Good deal in this area for sure.

Judy: Is your new stove a glass top, when the time arrives that is what I would like along with the two part frig. frig in the top and freezer at the bottom.

Now to make a dish of rhubarb sauce and have my afternoon iced coffee.

Hmmm!  Something must have happened with my 'cookies'.  I clicked on my email to come here and I came to the next email after I posted and I scrolled top to bottom for the next post.  Then I noticed I wasn't logged in.  I finally got logged in.  (after finally remembering my user name and password)  Now I scroll bottom to top for my next post and had to find the post since I posted.  So it must be when I log in that I can't navigate like I do on Srs. & Friends.  Hmmm!

I called Pastor Steve and told him I would go up front Sunday.  I have claimed the scripture of Joshua 1:9 for quite awhile now.  Contemporary English Version says, I command you to be strong and brave.  Do not be afraid or discouraged.  I am the Lord your God and I will be there to help wherever you go.  I don't remember when I read it first and decided it was mine but I say that verse at least once a day and also in times of trouble, stress and other times.

I have swept, mopped, and did some laundry.  Now it is time to clean up a bit and take my Zucchini Bread to church and probably find something to eat out!

My friend, Rose, with the lung cancer??  Her oncologist called and said the tumor is gone!  No more lung cancer!  But the type of cancer that was in her lungs is known to show up in a person's brain.  So next Wednesday she is to find out when radiation on her brain starts.  It will be 12 sessions lasting 2 weeks and 2 days.  She found the light at the end of the tunnel once...she can do it again!  Praise God.

I think my Toshiba Laptop can be voice activated since it has a built-in mic and webcam.  Just never checked it out.

Off I go!!

I have a dear friend with a glass top. I looked at them and talked to the sales lady. The tops do break/crack if there is anything heavy on it.  I was warned about 3 years ago.  I have almost the identical stove to the one I had before.  I do not like the fridge.  It has the freezer on top and is not a side by side.  I will and do so miss my side by side.  As far as the freezer underneath I would not get one.  They are too much like a chest freezer.  Again for a freezer I like the upright.
They are in place in the house.  The fridge will do. but the stove is great.

Judy, can you see through your friend with the glass top?   Sometimes it's so funny how things come out, hope you don't mind a bit of teasing!  I have a glass top STOVE and LOVE it!!  So easy to clean, and no drips or crumbs down underneath the burners.  Sorry you couldn't get a refrigerator you really like, that's a bummer.

Ruth, that's my problem--trying to get to talk to Dr. Plumlee!  I have been to his office twice, tried calling three times, and wrote him a letter.  Still nothing.  Now, I know he is busy, but couldn't he take two minutes to talk to me?  Frustrating!  They changed their phone number because of the bullying of their little girl, which is the reason they are leaving.  I need to find out SOON, as they are leaving in August.

I had a busy day, getting not much done.  Did get my hair colored and styled, got a chiropractic appointment done, went to the care home and brought both Beth's wheelchair and her power chair home, got some other errands done as well.  Tomorrow we go to Dodge City to pick up John!!  Beth can hardly wait!  It's going to be 100* again tomorrow, ugh.

Jeanne, Kansas isn't totally flat!  But I'm sure it would seem so, after living where you are.  You're in such a beautiful and picturesque area.  I want to come SEE it!

JudyB: I have a refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. I made sure it had containers to store the food so that I wouldn't lose all the cold every time I opened it. I bought it when I moved in the winter of 2003-04 and I LOVE it   <3

I love my stove too; bought at the same time. Let's try a visit from you next week!!

Janet: The house sounds like the type we were looking for, however, the Lord brought us here to this one and I am extremely contented!

Well, our little vacation in the Time Share is coming to an end.  We've been putting things in boxes and starting to pack up.  We have to be out of here by 10 am.

Paul's brother and his wife, (Rolf & Lorraine) are coming up to Winchester for the weekend to see the house and then they will head back down to south-eastern Virginia for doctor's appointments on Tues.

We won't have internet after the morning.  Back to the HandyMart!  lol

Ruth Next week sounds good.  Perhaps Thursday?  Kassie's friend will be here till Wednesday.  You will meet her on Sunday.  Unless you  want to come here, that would be fine too!.. We went to the lake by you tonight....Not likely to happen again Kass doesn't like leeches, even though she didn't get any on her!

Ruth G Maybe Mel would like some leeches for fishing...I heard they are good!

I am off to bed.

Good news - Don has not had a nosebleed since this morning.  He goes back next week for another check and they do warn him that he may have problems but today has been nice.  He does not have any high blood pressure problems.

I have the glass top stove only because the oven is the one I wanted for baking just right - it can be turned into a convection oven with a flip of a switch and that is very nice for cookies or things you want browned a little.  My freezer is on the bottom & we like the top refrigerator for it is easier to spot the food ^ veggies.  We have a little fridge in the garage that I use part of the year too or when I need more space for company food.

Janet:  How wonderful on the house.  Electricity won't be cheap to put in but it has to be up to code & safe.  It sounds like a super nice deal.

Jeanne:  What mountains?  I mean, what are you close to in your area?

The quilt show was great & it was in our church - I ran into a gal I knew in Fort Collins so that was fun.

Janet, mom (JudyB) brought this thread to my attention and I thought I would reply.  If it is voice activated software that she needs, then it is likely that a laptop with a mic will do the job nicely.  I had a laptop with a mic and used voice activated software myself from time to time and it worked well.  Just thought I would add my 2 cents worth here.

Mornin', y'all!  (I feel like drawling today, I guess.)  ;)

Heather, thank you so much!!  That is the kind of answer I am needing!

Carol, since Curtis is an electrical engineer, he will be able to do the wiring himself, saving many $$$.  And Darrel can buy the wire at wholesale!  :)

Today is the big day for Beth and John.  He is to arrive in Dodge City at 4:15, so we will be there with Beth to greet him.  She is SO excited!  I think I will just take my trusty camera along!  :)

The weatherman said last night that this whole coming week we will have temps 100* or above.  Whew!  :P

I need to make a couple of phone calls, see you later.

Good Morning one and all. Not much going on here this morning. Two of the boys are coming in from Portland sometime today. Their maternal Grand father's 93rd birthday is this weekend and they will be going to a party their mother is having for him. But the boys will be staying here.

My friend from S&F  left yesterday morning and is on her way south stopping in various places to sight see and take lots of photos. We sure had a great visit.

Janet that Dr. Seuss email was hilarious. So glad that John is coming to visit Beth again. She must be sooo excited.

I have used the glass top stove at the cottage and love it as for the frig/freezer I would like the lower freezer placement, each to their own needs. I will not be getting either any time soon.

Judy: As for the leeches not even Mel wants them.

This is a day of laundry then later on I will be going out to do some errands and visit a friend so the best of the day is used up.

Hey the phone just rang better answer it.      Ruth

This week's promise: Our prayers bring us into God's presence
How is your prayer life?

The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness. The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him sincerely. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them.

Psalm 145:17-19 NLT

Then Saul said, "Let's chase the Philistines all night and destroy every last one of them." His men replied, "We'll do whatever you think is best." But the priest said, "Let's ask God first."
1 Samuel 14:36 NLT

The next morning Jesus awoke long before daybreak and went out alone into the wilderness to pray.
Mark 1:35 NLT

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 NLT

About this week's promise

The most universally practiced yet least understood of human experiences, prayer is one of the great mysteries of the Christian faith. Its simplest definition is communication with God. Yet so often we approach prayer like a one-way telephone conversation, forgetting that God also wants to speak to us. Prayer appears nearly on every page of the Bible as the very essence of a faith relationship with the living God.

Words & Music: John M. Moore

Days are filled with sorrow and care,
Heart are lonely and drear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

Cast your care on Jesus today,
Leave your worry and fear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

Troubled soul, the Savior can see
Ev'ry heartache and tear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

My daughter raves about having the freezer at the bottom of her refrigerator but it wouldn't be my choice.  Too much bending for this old back.   ;)  This trailer came with a side-by-side which I love - especially since it has an automatic ice maker with access through the door for cubes or crushed.

I took my Zucchini Bread to church and decided to go to Taco Bell to eat.  Taco Bell at Noblesville is on the other side of where they are putting in a round about and from the north is the street for the County 4-H Fair goers.  So I decided to go south to the Taco Bell at I-69 and SR238.  Big mistake.  When I got to SR238 it was a parking lot!  The car in front of me and I were in the middle of the intersection to turn left and couldn't go anywhere!  The other car made a U turn so I did, too!  I ended up going east 2 miles, south a mile and back west 2 miles to get to Taco Bell.  Still traffic on SR238 was a parking lot!  What was going on?  The radio told me that Brooks and Dunn were at the Verizon Music Center near the intersection where I first was!  Friday and Saturday nights in the summertime is always busy there.  Since it is an outdoor arena, no worry when it is cold!

Then I decided to drive on SR238 to Fortville.  That road has been partially closed for over 5 years.  A new road all the way now.  It once was sharp curves but now it is gentle curves and 50mph.  Nice drive.

Today has been mowing and laundry again.  How can one person have so much laundry?  Geesh!  The neighbor man works at a nursery and brought me a couple of huge plants.  One of them is a hanging plant.  Looks nice through the dining room window.

I cleaned my air purifier so I am hoping the allergies aren't as bad.  It is 90° (hold down Alt and then press 0,1,7,6 on the calculator part of you keyboard = °).  Glad I got the mowing done when I did.

I have a mishmash kitchen.  My refrigerator is copper tone and has two doors with the freezer above with an ice maker.  My counter top stove is beige or almond.  My wall oven is black!!  My cabinets are dark mahogany and counter tops are beige.  So my accessories are RED.  Hoping the red is outstanding and people doesn't notice the mishmash appliances!  The first wall oven Mom had had french doors.  Two doors that both opened out like cabinet doors.  She was short and stocky.  She loved it since she could get her pies in and out of the oven without the doors in the way.  This one has the one door that opens top down.  No matter how you do it, you have to reach over that hot oven door to get things out!  Mom hated it!

Hi everyone.  Just got up from a nap.  When I got home from a meeting at noon I was feeling tired so ate a quick lunch and have been resting a couple of hours.  I am so thankful that I am able to rest when I feel the need.  I am settle in my easy chair probably for the duration of the day.  I have nothing pressing at my desk and have a really light schedule for next week.

Janet, I agree with Heater and Etta Sue that a laptop with a built in camera and microphone should work very well.  I do not believe you would need an expensive laptop.  I am glad that Heather has had some experience with with voice activated software as I have not.  I expect this has been a long afternoon for Beth and she anxiously awaits the arrival of John.  Beth has certainly been an inspiration to me as she has fought and fought through such terrible health issues.  I am completely convinced that God has a plan and use for each of his children if we will just seek his will.  Good news that your grandson is an electrical engineer.

We have a side-by-side refrigerator but it seems neither side will handle very large items.  Pat got a watermelon a couple of days ago and had to remove the rind and cut it up and store it in several smaller containers.  However, I love the in-door ice maker, which has never clogged up.  Our old one clogged all the time.  Occasionally it will expel an ice cube that gets on the floor and Pat doesn't like that. Jeanne, Pat is like you as it hurts her back to pick things from the floor and I get dizzy and short-of-breath sometimes when I bend over.

Judy, the idea of doing anything with leeches gives me the shivers.

Marilyn, glad you were visited by a friend from S & F's.  Hope you have a nice weekend.

Carol, the quilt guild that Pat belongs to have an annual show at the church where they meet and Pat enjoys it.  Have you been to the quilt museum in Paducah, Kentucky?

Pat, glad to see your posting.

RuthV, my wife says she doesn't want one of the glass top ranges.  It looks like they would be very nice.

Etta Sue, that is sure a cute baby in the graphic today.  It sounds like you got into quite a traffic mess today.

My salad is ready for the neighbor's potluck at the rec center but.... Don has had three nosebleeds since the doctor visit.  He is so tired - I will go and bring the cell phone - he is able to get things under control by himself & has a every time so I don't know if he wants to go today or not.  He sure is not going to be going to church tomorrow morning with this continuing - so this is not over yet.

Larry:  Paducah, is one of the gold standards for these shows and I would love to experience it just once.  Tell Pat that I am going to take a short class in Hardanger on Tues.  It is a Norwegian style hand stitchery and I used to do this years ago but have forgotten how to begin.

Janet:  The house sounds just perfect for Curtis and his wife.  How close will he be living to you?

It is supposed to hit 100*F today but I don't think it will make it.  Close enough!

That traffic jam (John said) has to be between Ft Wayne and Indianapolis.  How close is he.  We've been in traffic like that even up here.

Larry I loved my side by side.  No water or ice but it was so convenient.  We were able to move the shelves in it which was an advantage.  If I had a lower freezer food would get lost as it does in the our chest freezer.

Carol I am sorry the nose bleeds are continuing.  It is rough.  {{{{Hug}}}} and praying.

Have gone to town, came home and weeded, Kass got supper ready and now they girls want to go swimming.  So Bye for now.

Boy!  I'm tired.  It was 107* here today, and getting Beth into and out of the van really wears me out.  She has to be in a different type of wheelchair, which has "sideboards" to hold her feet so they don't fall off, and it reclines so she doesn't slide out when she gets tired.  That makes it so long it is really hard to jockey it around in the van and get her seat belt fastened.  John did it last year by himself, and he is a tiny guy, so I guess he is all muscle!

Anyway---John arrived safely, and oh, my!  Was he happy to see Beth, and she to see him!  You could see the love glowing in their eyes, so sweet.  Of course, he was 'starving' so we ate at Montana Mike's before we drove home.  These two weeks will go by in a blur for them, I'm sure.

I called Curtis and he said a laptop will work for Beth, one that has a certain thing that enables it to use her flat-screen TV on the wall as her monitor.  He is checking prices and will email me where to order one.  We need to get it asap so Dr. Plumlee can get it set up for her.

Carol, Curtis and Toni will be less than 30 miles from us, and 12 from his parents.  Sure will be nice to have those babies that close!  His parents just didn't want them to live next door!  ;)

Etta Sue, I don't like driving in a lot of traffic, so guess I wouldn't be too good in your area!

Carol, so sorry Don's nose is bleeding again, hope he gets help for it SOON.

Larry, thanks for the input.  Please take it easy and don't get out in this heat too much!

Etta Sue, thanks for the instructions, but using the * is quicker, and besides, I don't remember the number sequence.  :-[

Ok, enough of my chatter!  See you tomorrow.

Marilyn it is light till about 10:00 or 10:30.

Etta Sue that note on traffic was aimed at you.. Hope you got that, Also I forget the sequence for the numbers too.  This old brain doesn't remember like it used to!

I woke up with my back and side aching so to not wake John I got up.

Back later.

What can I learn from Nehemiah?

When I heard [how things were going in Jerusalem], I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven. Then I said, "O Lord, God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps his covenant of unfailing love with those who love him and obey his commands, listen to my prayer! Look down and see me praying night and day for your people Israel.

Nehemiah 1:4-6 NLT

The king asked, "Well, how can I help you?"
With a prayer to the God of heaven, I replied, "If it please Your majesty and if you are pleased with me, send me to Judah to rebuild the city when my ancestors are buried."
Nehemiah 2:4-5 NLT

Nehemiah's example

With little time to think, Nehemiah prayed to God. Eight times in this book we read that he offered a spontaneous prayer. Nehemiah prayed at any time, even while talking with others. He knew that God is always present, always in charge, always listening, and always ready to answer.

Nehemiah could confidently pray to God throughout the day because he had established an intimate relationship with him during times of extended prayer. If we want to be confident about our brief prayers, we need to take time to cultivate a strong relationship with God through times of in-depth prayer.

I am all ready for church after a busy tiring day yesterday.  But since today I will be going up front to talk, I didn't get to sleep soon after putting my head on the pillow.  And my allergies are acting up.  Hope the allergy pill kicks in before I have to talk.  And I hope Pastor Steve doesn't wait too long to call me up!

Looks like a cloudy day and perhaps some rain this afternoon.  We really don't need it...the ground is still saturated.

When I get home I am making a dessert to take to Ivalou's son's home this evening.  Linda and Jeff are have a family get-together for Ivalou's birthday, the 22nd.

Hi everyone.  We will leave for church in about an hour.  Our service doesn't begin in 11:15 so we always get out late.  I have gotten used to it.  We usually go out to lunch and often don't get home until after 2 pm.  That makes for a short Sunday afternoon.

Janet, so glad that John arrived safely and that trip to pick him up is behind you.  I know how tiring it is to deal with just a wheelchair or transfer chair and we don't have to lift on our daughter as she  is mobile and can take a couple of steps.  I am glad that Curtis is going to advise you.  I didn't realize you wanted to project to Beth's TV but that is a great idea.

Etta Sue, I just know you will do fine because the Lord is there with you as you speak and you have a friendly audience.  Most of them are probably saying to themselves "I am sure glad she is doing that rather than me."

Carol, Pat is aware of Hardanger embroidery.  My grandmother did a lot of it and we have several dresser scarves that she made using that technique.  She also did tatting.  I don't think Pat has done any of that type of embroidery.  Sure hope the nosebleeds stop soon for Don.

Judy, hope the aches don't last.

You received the Spirit of sonship.
And by Him we cry, "Abba, Father."

God, our Father, we adore Thee! We, Thy children, bless Thy Name!
Chosen in the Christ before Thee, we are holy without blame.
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! Abba's praises we proclaim!
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! Abba's praises we proclaim!

Son Eternal, we adore Thee! Lamb upon the throne on high!
Lamb of God, we bow before Thee, Thou hast brought Thy people nigh!
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! Son of God, Who came to die!
We adore Thee! We adore Thee! Son of God, Who came to die!

Larry, Beth wouldn't be able to hold a laptop on her lap as she lies in her recliner, also is having trouble with her eyes, so Dr. Plumlee thinks using her TV as the monitor will be best.  Curtis has found a small desktop he thinks may be best for her, as a laptop might just be too much temptation, and might "sprout legs and walk off."  We don't like to think of someone being low enough to steal from a person in Beth's condition, but sadly, it does happen.  I must go to the sites Curtis sent me and check out those computers.  That way, it can be shipped directly here, not have to wait until Curtis comes home again.

It's a new week the Lord has given us, and you will find the new Thoughts   HERE. (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=10372.0%20%5B/url)
