Happy Birthday Judy  :hbirthday:

Speaking of Birthdays I phoned someone yesterday to wish her a happy birthday but no answer.

Ruth Ann:  Grandma cannot see to drive ??????????????  please explain

With hot summer days and retirement along comes being lazy or is it doing what needs to done when it needs and no more.  I choose to read and work on finishing up my counted cross stitch which was started a long long time ago.

Mel is outside cooking dinner on the BBQ so now I had best hurry and get the inside things ready.

Have a great rest of the day.     Ruth

Good for you, Etta Sue!  Your testimony of how God provides when we obey will be a good example to others, and you will be blessed for your obedience in sharing.  And I will be praying for you, too.

We will be leaving in less than one hour to go to the house auction.  Are you praying??  Thanks!!

Beth is so excited about John coming!  She couldn't talk about anything else today.  Bless their hearts, I am so glad they have each other.

I think I will rest a few minutes before we have to go.

Hi, Ruth!  We were posting at the same time.  I hope Ruth Ann doesn't mind if I answer your question.  I think she meant the kids' grandma can't see to drive, so she, Ruth Ann, is driving them to the water thing.  Hot here, too--over 100.  :P

Oh, Janet - praying just west of you....  Beth must be so excited.

There is a breeze & we are about to go and sit on the deck - it has been so hot today.  Praying for a son who had a colonoscopy this morning - they found a polyp that he may have had for ten years - he is much younger than the age health officials advice having the test.  Biopsy results next week - we are like most parents right now.

Marilyn:  I want the sister puppy to the one you gave JudyB - my birthday is in late August but I will be out of town.  Will pick up the puppy in September if that is alright with you and please have the little one house trained.   ;)  I am not asking for too much???

Tomorrow, finally, Don is to have nose cauterized.  He has been almost house bound with numerous nosebleeds.

Larry:  My husband says that there are two options for Stacey.
1:  Contact state insurance commissioner (that is the cheapest)
2:  Otherwise, get a Disability Attorney

State insurance commissioner cannot help if it is through Soc. Sec.

JudyB

Carol how is Don's blood pressure.  I've known many with nose bleeds to have BP problems.

This has been an interesting day to say the least. It is now over and tomorrow I get a new fridge and stove.  I couldn't get the fridge I wanted, so got the one that would do and a stove like the one I have.  Happy with the stove.  My fridge has about given up the ghost.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

First, Judy, hope your birthday was great.

Yes, I took the kids and their Grandma to the park to play in the water spray. The fire department hooked up one of their hoses to the fire hydrant and let the big nozzle spray 'way up in the air, so when the water fell, sometimes it was a mist, and sometimes droplets. Oh, my, how much fun to watch both the children as well as their grandma today!

After they were tired of the water, we stopped by the huge play gym which was all wood and featured steps, slides, little turrets on the castle where they could look out, bridges, a pole to slide down on, and all sorts of other features I couldn't see. I had decided that this day was to be a treat for the 3 of them, so I rolled the windows down in my little PT cruiser, opened the sun roof, and thoroughly enjoyed both the silence and also watching the pure joy each of them showed on their faces.

Naturally, I just HAD to take the long way home, so each of the children nodded off in a little nap, and their grandma and I had a good chat between us.

If they're available Saturday, I'd like to take them to our agricultural museum, where the feature of the day is called "Old Goats." The children will be able to pet the goats, try to learn to milk them, and other things, such as face painting.

Nashville has SO many great free summertime events for children, so there's almost always something going on - and nearly every thing is totally free.

Well, this tired ole great granny better head to bed. A blind lady who lives here is off from work tomorrow, so she wants to go eat breakfast together about 10:30 or 11:00.

Ahhhh, did I hear someone say "she seems busier now than when she was working!!???"

Y'all rest well tonight.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

Yes, Ruth Ann---busier, but not nearly as stressed!  It's wonderful to read your happy sounding posts!  God bless you, you are such a giver, a true daughter of the King!

Carol, thank you for praying.  GOOD REPORT!!  We got the house for $33,000!  It had been on the market for over a year, starting at $78,000 and being reduced a little at a time to a final of $59,000.  Curtis is SO happy!  It's an old house, but very charming.  First thing he will need to do is re-wire it, as it has the old "tube and knob" type wiring, which is insufficient to carry the load of power needed for today's households.  It is a two-story, brick, with attic and full basement, four bedrooms, two baths, living room, dining room, office, kitchen with metal cabinets which are still in great shape, although I am sure the kids will want to replace them with others.  It also came with appliances--nice stove, refrigerator, washer and dryer.  They already have all those things, but they can sell them and help with paying for the house.  It also has a detached two-car garage, nice big back yard, fenced on two sides, and nice front yard.  Really, the only thing that needs attention now is the wiring, everything else is liveable as is.  Do you thing we got a good deal?  We do.  :)

Carol, I am praying for Don.  Nosebleeds must be awful to deal with; I have never had them, but have had friends who did, and always felt bad for them.

Larry, about Stacey.....if it hadn't been for a good friend of mine to whom the head gal in the Dodge City Social Security office owed a favor, I don't know how long it might have taken to get Beth's disability.  This friend talked to the gal, I sent her photos of Beth, along with letters from her doctors, and she went to bat for Beth and got her approved in record time.  This was after Beth's being denied twice already.  The main factor they seem to look at is age, which should not be the determining factor!  Beth had already contacted one of those lawyers who advertise on TV, and when I told the SS lady, she said, call him immediately and tell him you don't need him; otherwise the process will go on and on.  So I don't know what course to advise Stacey to take.  It really gripes me that so many able-bodied people get SS disability because of things like Bi-polar, etc.  But I'd best not go down that rabbit trail!  Oh, by the way, I agree with you about the mess our country is in, and getting new blood into office, bottom to top!

I need to get dressed, I have been up for hours (couldn't sleep) and will be going to my friend Pat's after my chiropractic appt. so she can color and style my hair.  It needs it!  :o

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  In a few minutes we head back over to Atlanta so Pat can have the next followup visit with the eye doctor.  It seems like it has been longer than a week since we had the surgery.  That is all that is on the schedule for today.

Yesterday while working on Pat's laptop, which I had on a little table I have to the left of my computer, I sort of pulled a muscle.  It hurt all evening even with using ice and heat and some Tylonol.  However, it feels fine today, as I expected.

Janet, I am sure the type of software that Beth needs that can be voice activated is available but I am not aware of what it is.  I doubt that it is a particular computer you need but rather software and a headset.  If you know of a hospital or special care place for paraplegics they might be able to direct you.  There is also probably a state agency that would have information.  I did a quick search on Google, but did not immediately see anything.  However, probably wasn't searching for the right thing when I put in "speech activated software".  Congrats on your successful  bid on the house.  It sounds like you got a real bargain.  Glad the checkups went so well.  Good news on the hearing aid front.  A number of my friends wear hearing aids and they really help them.

Ruth Ann, sounds like you all had a great time.

Belated Happy Birthday Judy.  These years do roll around don't they?  Hope you had a nice day.

Carol, our daughter has already contacted a lawyer that specializes in disability cases.  This is Social Security disability she is seeking.  I also suggested she contact her representatives office as it was this method that was of the most benefit for our daughter-in-law.  Tell Don thanks for the suggestions.

Ruth, it sounds like you are enjoying your retirement.  We stay busy but get to set our own schedules.

Etta Sue, place yourself in God's hands when you stand to speak.  He will give you the words that you need to speak.  Glad your auditing job went well.

Jeanne Lee

My goodness, Janet!  A house like that, in that condition, would probably sell for close to $100,000, if not more, around here.  So, yes, I'd say you really got a bargain!!!

Janet

Larry, it isn't the software or whatever we need to get for Beth; her kind, generous doctor wants to purchase that for her.  What I need to know is what kind of computer to buy, as hers no longer works.  I'm hoping we won't need a desktop type with tower.  Will a laptop do the job?  Or possibly an e-machine?  Thanks for taking the time to google it!

And her special friend John wants to buy her a remote control that is voice-activated!  It warms this mom's heart that so many people love Beth.  It proves that her life has value, even though physically, she is not able to do anything.  Her mind is still sharp and that makes her our Beth.  Praise God.

:)  Jeanne, thanks!  That makes me feel better!  We are thinking Curtis will need to get a personal loan, as they might not make a real estate loan for that low an amount!  Isn't that a good problem to have??  God is so good!

Time for afternoon iced :coffee:
Not as hummid today although it is just as warm the gentle breeze makes a difference.
I have a large size toaster oven which helps to reduce the use of the full size oven, one thing I will or perhaps think about another time is bake the type of cake that rises above the sides of the dish it just might burn it you do not watch.  I did cut the burnt part off and it was good. I have bakes chicken, meat loaf, muffins, and even cookies this morning was chicken and tonight it will be meat loaf in muffin tins.

Janet:  Just a suggestion as Beth's Dr. what kind of computer as I would bet that he knows.

You should have a very pleased grandson.  Good deal in this area for sure.

Judy: Is your new stove a glass top, when the time arrives that is what I would like along with the two part frig. frig in the top and freezer at the bottom.

Now to make a dish of rhubarb sauce and have my afternoon iced coffee.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Marilyn

I would like a glass built range top. there is no place for a range in my kitchen just the range top. I would also like to ave a side by side Refrigerator/freezer.

Hmmm!  Something must have happened with my 'cookies'.  I clicked on my email to come here and I came to the next email after I posted and I scrolled top to bottom for the next post.  Then I noticed I wasn't logged in.  I finally got logged in.  (after finally remembering my user name and password)  Now I scroll bottom to top for my next post and had to find the post since I posted.  So it must be when I log in that I can't navigate like I do on Srs. & Friends.  Hmmm!

I called Pastor Steve and told him I would go up front Sunday.  I have claimed the scripture of Joshua 1:9 for quite awhile now.  Contemporary English Version says, I command you to be strong and brave.  Do not be afraid or discouraged.  I am the Lord your God and I will be there to help wherever you go.  I don't remember when I read it first and decided it was mine but I say that verse at least once a day and also in times of trouble, stress and other times.

I have swept, mopped, and did some laundry.  Now it is time to clean up a bit and take my Zucchini Bread to church and probably find something to eat out!

My friend, Rose, with the lung cancer??  Her oncologist called and said the tumor is gone!  No more lung cancer!  But the type of cancer that was in her lungs is known to show up in a person's brain.  So next Wednesday she is to find out when radiation on her brain starts.  It will be 12 sessions lasting 2 weeks and 2 days.  She found the light at the end of the tunnel once...she can do it again!  Praise God.

I think my Toshiba Laptop can be voice activated since it has a built-in mic and webcam.  Just never checked it out.

Off I go!!

I have a dear friend with a glass top. I looked at them and talked to the sales lady. The tops do break/crack if there is anything heavy on it.  I was warned about 3 years ago.  I have almost the identical stove to the one I had before.  I do not like the fridge.  It has the freezer on top and is not a side by side.  I will and do so miss my side by side.  As far as the freezer underneath I would not get one.  They are too much like a chest freezer.  Again for a freezer I like the upright.
They are in place in the house.  The fridge will do. but the stove is great.

Janet

Judy, can you see through your friend with the glass top?   Sometimes it's so funny how things come out, hope you don't mind a bit of teasing!  I have a glass top STOVE and LOVE it!!  So easy to clean, and no drips or crumbs down underneath the burners.  Sorry you couldn't get a refrigerator you really like, that's a bummer.

Ruth, that's my problem--trying to get to talk to Dr. Plumlee!  I have been to his office twice, tried calling three times, and wrote him a letter.  Still nothing.  Now, I know he is busy, but couldn't he take two minutes to talk to me?  Frustrating!  They changed their phone number because of the bullying of their little girl, which is the reason they are leaving.  I need to find out SOON, as they are leaving in August.

I had a busy day, getting not much done.  Did get my hair colored and styled, got a chiropractic appointment done, went to the care home and brought both Beth's wheelchair and her power chair home, got some other errands done as well.  Tomorrow we go to Dodge City to pick up John!!  Beth can hardly wait!  It's going to be 100* again tomorrow, ugh.

Jeanne, Kansas isn't totally flat!  But I'm sure it would seem so, after living where you are.  You're in such a beautiful and picturesque area.  I want to come SEE it!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

JudyB: I have a refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. I made sure it had containers to store the food so that I wouldn't lose all the cold every time I opened it. I bought it when I moved in the winter of 2003-04 and I LOVE it   <3

I love my stove too; bought at the same time. Let's try a visit from you next week!!

Janet: The house sounds like the type we were looking for, however, the Lord brought us here to this one and I am extremely contented!

Pat

Well, our little vacation in the Time Share is coming to an end.  We've been putting things in boxes and starting to pack up.  We have to be out of here by 10 am.

Paul's brother and his wife, (Rolf & Lorraine) are coming up to Winchester for the weekend to see the house and then they will head back down to south-eastern Virginia for doctor's appointments on Tues.

We won't have internet after the morning.  Back to the HandyMart!  lol

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

JudyB

Good to see you Pat.  Sorry you are loosing your internet again.  Enjoy your time with family.

Ruth Next week sounds good.  Perhaps Thursday?  Kassie's friend will be here till Wednesday.  You will meet her on Sunday.  Unless you  want to come here, that would be fine too!.. We went to the lake by you tonight....Not likely to happen again Kass doesn't like leeches, even though she didn't get any on her!

Ruth G Maybe Mel would like some leeches for fishing...I heard they are good!

I am off to bed.

JudyB

Pat and Ruth I will be having cake probably this weekend!  Now that I have a fridge that works someone will do some baking!!!

Carol

Good news - Don has not had a nosebleed since this morning.  He goes back next week for another check and they do warn him that he may have problems but today has been nice.  He does not have any high blood pressure problems.

I have the glass top stove only because the oven is the one I wanted for baking just right - it can be turned into a convection oven with a flip of a switch and that is very nice for cookies or things you want browned a little.  My freezer is on the bottom & we like the top refrigerator for it is easier to spot the food ^ veggies.  We have a little fridge in the garage that I use part of the year too or when I need more space for company food.

Janet:  How wonderful on the house.  Electricity won't be cheap to put in but it has to be up to code & safe.  It sounds like a super nice deal.

Jeanne:  What mountains?  I mean, what are you close to in your area?

The quilt show was great & it was in our church - I ran into a gal I knew in Fort Collins so that was fun.

JudyB

Jeanne Janet and Etta Sue thank you for the Birthday greetings.. Want to come for cake this weekend?

Marilyn I love your cards....they are beautiful!  Wish I were as talented!.

Ruth this week didn't work out...we were talking... Thank you for the B day wishes I will see you Sunday.

JudyB

Carol I am so glad there are no PB problems.  I pray the nose bleeds are over.   I had a run of nose bleeds a couple of years ago.  I know they are not fun.

Heather

Janet, mom (JudyB) brought this thread to my attention and I thought I would reply.  If it is voice activated software that she needs, then it is likely that a laptop with a mic will do the job nicely.  I had a laptop with a mic and used voice activated software myself from time to time and it worked well.  Just thought I would add my 2 cents worth here.

Carol, Corinth, the little town I live in is nestled snugly into the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York.

Another beautiful morning, although it's supposed to get hot and steamy again this afternoon.  But that's OK!

Mornin', y'all!  (I feel like drawling today, I guess.)  ;)

Heather, thank you so much!!  That is the kind of answer I am needing!

Carol, since Curtis is an electrical engineer, he will be able to do the wiring himself, saving many $$$.  And Darrel can buy the wire at wholesale!  :)

Today is the big day for Beth and John.  He is to arrive in Dodge City at 4:15, so we will be there with Beth to greet him.  She is SO excited!  I think I will just take my trusty camera along!  :)

The weatherman said last night that this whole coming week we will have temps 100* or above.  Whew!  :P

I need to make a couple of phone calls, see you later.

Good Morning one and all. Not much going on here this morning. Two of the boys are coming in from Portland sometime today. Their maternal Grand father's 93rd birthday is this weekend and they will be going to a party their mother is having for him. But the boys will be staying here.

My friend from S&F  left yesterday morning and is on her way south stopping in various places to sight see and take lots of photos. We sure had a great visit.

Janet that Dr. Seuss email was hilarious. So glad that John is coming to visit Beth again. She must be sooo excited.
