Morning Devotional...
Jesus on Being Prepared
Luke 21:25-38 NLT
"And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!"
Then he gave them this illustration: "Notice the fig tree, or any other tree. When the leaves come out, you know without being told that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that the Kingdom of God is near. I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.
"Watch out! Don't let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don't let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man."
Every day Jesus went to the Temple to teach, and each evening he returned to spend the night on the Mount of Olives. The crowds gathered at the Temple early each morning to hear him.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FStarblinking.gif&hash=27e115f9cd5672d07457eb7160f143473dc479d4)What does your schedule today say about your watchfulness?
Jesus told the disciples to keep a constant watch for his return.
Although nearly two thousand years have passed since he spoke these words, their truth remains: Christ is coming again, and we need to watch and be spiritually fit.
This means working faithfully at the tasks God has given us. Don't let your mind and spirit be dulled by careless living, drinking, or the foolish pursuit of pleasure. Don't let life's anxieties overburden you.
Instead, be ready to move at God's command.
The Best of the Bible--365 Must-Read Bible Passages
Hi everyone. We start another week today and here in our area we had a wonderful downpour yesterday while we were in church and then some rain later, but not more downpours. Rain is also predicted for today. Everything has really greened up thanks to God's abundance to us.
Etta Sue, that is a wonderful devotional. It would be very frightening if I weren't awaiting the return of my savior. What a magnificient thing this will be.
Marilyn, I missed your posting over the weekend but knew you had company.
Janet, that sounds like quite a feast and that Abby must have had a royal evening.
We declined to go out with the group yesterday as they were going to this Chinese restruarant which we have just burned out on and the spicy food actually hurts Pat's mouth. Instead we went to a new place and had a nice lunch and then had a quiet afternoon. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use my laptop last night as couldn't get the charger to work. I will call the repair place today and then make my decision as to whether to get a new laptop.
Scotty, there are some very interesting names of towns and cities throughout the world. We have a little town not too far from here called Between and another one called Youth. In Missouri, where I grew up, there is a little town South of Kansas City named Peculiar.
The only thing on my agenda today is to go to lunch with two men friends. We have been doing this almost every Monday for several weeks and are finding it very enjoyable.
Hope this is a super day for everyone.
Larry I too am interested in your WW progress. In the last month I have put on a few more lbs than necessary and I must start to journal what I am eating again, I think I need to lose about 8-10 lbs. I have just been eating too good and the deserts and bread have to go.
It sure is foggy here this morning. Yesterday evening I watched the helicopters with the buckets hanging from them flying to the ocean and fillingup then heading back toward the areas east of us and Blue Lake where the kids live is east of us.
I had an IM from Savannah last night and they are still on the road traveling. They went to Southern California, to visit friends and to got to Disneyland.
TTYL
I missed my swim this morning because I was so interested in the news on the 700 Club. So I plan to walk on the treadmill later instead. Right now I am doing Monday stuff--laundry, cleaning, etc. Also have several pieces to iron, not my favorite chore.
Etta Sue, great devotional! I am really fascinated by prophecy teaching, and it is becoming clearer all the time. Of course, that is scriptural--the prophets were told to "seal the book until the time of the end" which I understand to mean those scriptures would not be understood until the end times. And I sincerely believe those times are NOW! So, thanks for posting that. Is the book you use one that is published new every year, or do you use the same one year after year? The Word is always fresh and new, but I like the ones you post and am thinking I'd like to look for the book(s.)
Kenneth Copeland has his eldest grandson on the program doing the teaching today. What a legacy of faith that family is establishing. What could be better than knowing that your children, grandchildren and on down are walking with and trusting in the Lord? Wonderful.
I need to play catch up today. I've been putting off some phone calls and emails I really need to do, so have decided today is the day!
Hello and blessings to all who visit here today! <3
I'm interested in one of the "signs" being spoken of - "the powers in the heavens shall be shaken." If by that is meant astronomical disturbances, meteors, comets, etc. hurtling toward the earth, then we are in for some truly terrifying occurances. I believe we are. But I also read that these very things will be the signs of His coming, and that right at that point "The Son of Man" shall appear. Only that appearance will be the most terrifying thing of all to millions upon millions of people on the earth, for they are not ready for Him. They will call for the rocks and mountains to fall upon them in order to be hidden (which they can't be) from Him. And Oh the joy of those relatively few who ARE ready!

Thank you, Pat, for moving my devotion to this forum. We had a terrible lightening storm Saturday evening at about 8pm. No DSL signa so no internet. Kitty uses Embarq also and I called her before church yesterday and she was out also. I called Embarq yesterday after church and after a half hour, it was determined that there was a major problem in my area and that I wasn't the only one affected!! I told them that to start with.
I called back today at 12:30pm to see if anyone was working on the problem and in less that 15 minutes I had internet again. But Kitty still didn't have...so I gave her the number the repairman used to call me to tell me mine was fixed. Good to have caller ID sometimes.
Now I have to get ready for Photo Guild tonight. I am driving and leaving in less than an hour.
Church was awesome. Went to Ivalou's church again. Without looking behind me, I counted over 30 people that I know. I think I am ready for a change. (^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)

Having nothing to do with anything but for the fact that it is interesting IMHO. I thought I'd share why it is that I know my guardian angel drives an old blue Cadillac...or at least has once. :)
When my oldest was still in a rear facing car seat and we lived in a different town from my parents, I would drive over to visit them regularly. There are 2 lanes, and most of the way has a 55mph speed limit. I typically drive with the flow of traffic, but try not to get over 5mph over the speed limit. This day there was barely any traffic. I was going along just fine. Suddenly a semi-truck was right on my tail. I could see nothing but grill when I turned around and looked out the back window. A couple times I don't think I'd be exaggerating to say he got within about a foot from my tail. He easily could have gone into the fast lane and gotten around me. If it had just been me in the car I would probably have just started to slow down a little bit till he got so annoyed he either went around me or I suppose, just drove over me. I had Liam in the back though, and no way would I risk him like that. So, I pulled over into the fast lane to let him get by. He followed me over, still on my tail. I moved again over to the slow lane and so did he. I'm still a new mommy as Liam is only months old so I'm a bit emotional.
I panic a bit and am praying staring straight ahead at the road. The next time I look back there is a car length between the semi and me...almost exactly a cadillac length to be precise. Suddenly this blue older cadillac just barely manages, but squeezes in between the semi and me. He starts slowing down and is soon a comfortable distance behind me with the semi as close to his back bumper as possible.
Then, I get to where I need to turn off. Generally, you never have a semi there, because it goes right into a residential neighborhood with fairly narrow streets...heck, the bus even has a hard time with it. I put my blinker on. The semi does too. The caddy doesn't. I turn, the semi gets in the turn lane and the caddy swerves and stays between the semi and me. I go on a bit farther to where the road does a Y and I go straight (where the semi would not have been able to follow me at all). I look back and can see the semi, but not caddy anywhere and there was no place for him to go that would have hidden him from my view for quite a bit.
Even though he was right behind me I do not remember seeing a driver really other than I feel like the driver was a male. I am usually really good at remembering what things look like. I can usually remember faces but not have a clue as to the names that go with them. I can see the car in my head, but the driver...no memory of what he looked like AT ALL.
So, just thought I'd share my story of what I think was my guardian angel. It makes me laugh that he was driving an old caddy...like a 1980's version, a bit beat up and all. Just a big boat of a car.
Etta Sue, glad you're back online!
Ellette, great story--you should send it to Guideposts or a similar magazine!
I'm still playing catch-up, just stopped by to see if there was anything new. ;)
God is sovereign over all events. He was totally sovereign over the blue Cadillac and the semi. He moved in a totally sovereign way to get the Cad where He wanted it. Ditto with the semi - and you. You could say that He SENT the Cad. The meaning of "angel" is actually "send." So the Cad was, indeed angelic. We're thankful that He was watching over you.
Etta Sue: Thank you for the "Watchful" message.
Ellette: There are so many times angels are watching over us and you had the super angel helping care for you and your child.
I went to coffee and met three good friends. They want to meet for lunch before I leave and promise to visit me. No packing today. Only that and a haircut.

Great story, Sara.
So happy that our Saviour was watching over you and that new little baby you had with you.
Thanks for sharing!
Great devotional -I enjoyed
Welcome back Melody. How long has it been since you were last here? Tell us a litle about yourself to refresh our memories.
Still overcast here, hopefully the sun will burn it off by this afternoon. It does look like it may have rained just a little bit last night as my porch is all wet.
Not much new here to talk about, I'm keeping busy with my work, and my own life doing things around the house, watered the yard yesterday, went to visit a friend where I left my sunglasses on Saturday when we went there to visit. Walked my dogs just doing the usual stuff that I do.
Hi to everyone. Hope you have a great day.
Hi everyone.
I just picked my daughter up at a bus stop about 30 minutes from our house. She had taken the bus from a downtown station and this worked very well. In the mornings she cannot go to the bus stop in the town about 5 miles away where she catches it in the evening. They only take passenger into Atlanta in the morning and out in the evenings. She and her mother are seeing the chiropractor this morning.
Yesterday Pat did some housework and, as usual, has paid a big price in the pain of her fibromyalgia. We no longer have a housekeeper to come in and she must find another one. I sure don't like to see her so uncomfortable.
Yesterday morning I ordered my new Levono laptop and it is to be delivered tomorrow, based on the notice I got this morning. My friend Rod came over yesterday afternoon and picked up my broken laptop and after 6 hours of tedious work he was able to repair it. I have given it to him as I wouldn't have had it repaired after finding out it would cost anyway from $150 to $250 for the repair and the laptop is 4 years old. My friend has given Pat and I a large number of things over the 4 years I have known him and has worked on my computer many times and would never accept pay, so felt that was a way I could express my gratitude in a tangible way. This is a much better laptop than he currently has. He didn't want to accept it but I insisted and told him it would give me pleasure for him to accept it and he agreed. He brought it back to me this morning so I can get off some files I wanted and remove a few programs he doesn't want. I will be working on that today.
Etta Sue, glad to see that you are back on-line. Hope you had a good photo-guild meeting.
Ellete, that is quite an experience you had. It reminds me of an experience my family had many years ago when we were headed back to Kansas City from my parents house about 100 miles north. We were on a two-lane highway and an approaching car side-swiped the car in front of us and then missed us and went head long into the car behind us. The driver of the car had apparently had a heart attack and was dead at the scene and there were serious injuries to the driver of the car behind us. We had a cracked windshield from debris from the front vehicle that had been hit but otherwise we were unscratched but very shaken up. We later found that my dear grandmother had had a sense of something not right when we left and had been praying for us. Her prayers certainly were answered and a guardian angel was protecting us.
Al, your postings above remind me of the "Left Behind" series of book that started with the return of our Saviour.
Janet, hope you took your catching up yesterday in a measured pace so you weren't so tired.
Thanks Marylin for the welcome back. Its been a while since I have been here. When my dad passed away my mother found it difficult and it has been a busy time.
I do seem to remember most of you here.
It is about 75 degrees here now and everything seems to be in bloom .
Seems like my small patch of strawberries will soon be ripe and I will have fresh strawberries in a little while. :)
Hope you all have a great day.

Welcome back, Melody!
Janet ~ I sent you an email with info about my book of devotions. Hope you got it and enjoy it.
Larry ~ Let me know how you like your new laptop. I am thinking very seriously in getting a laptop.
Thanks to all for the comments on this weeks devotions. I love this devotion book.
Today is Euchre at noon so Ivalou will be driving since she knows where she is going... ::) and we will be leaving in less than an hour...ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

WELCOME BACK
MELODY!!
:groupwave:
It's great to have you back among us.
Hi Marilyn! Sounds like you're keeping busy! It's been very hot up until today here in Virginia. I see by my temperature in my signature that it's a bit chillier up in Guelph!
Larry, didn't you have a new laptop when we were there in April? This crack on my laptop monitor is really bothering me now. It's started to "bleed".
Hi Etta Sue!
Janet, hope you're keeping out of mischief! ;)
Mischief, Pat? ME?? :angel2:  ;)
Larry, it seems you are to be our information man! Weight Watchers and Laptops........ ^-^
The housekeeper was just here for two hours. She has gotten to where she gets more done now, especially if I stay out of her way so she can't stop and visit. I appreciate having her, and her two hours every other week helps us keep the place presentable. I can spend my time getting rid of the clutter, etc. instead of vacuuming and mopping.
I have to work this afternoon, and I do not want to! I have decided to give my notice, now that summer is almost over (well, anyway, school is starting here in less than a month!) they should be able to do without me. I had another sleepless night last night, so am feeling tired.
Beth has been quite ill the past two weeks. She feels a bit better today.
I am off to hunt some information, if I can get to the correct web page.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
JUDY!!

Hi everyone. This is the day my laptop is to be delivered. It is coming by UPS and I just checked the tracking information and it must be on the truck as it left Forest Park, GA (which is just South of Atlanta) this morning about 3:45 am. I will be anxiously watching at the window, especially after lunch. (Isn't this tracking something else.)
Pat, you are correct in that this is my second laptop in the last few months. The first one I decided to let my daughter use as hers wasn't operating well and this is something she can keep on her bed in easy reach. She doesn't feel like sitting at a computer very long and this gives her something she can use, not only for her telephone service using Skype, but also to help hours pass. Much better than watching television all the time.
Happy Birthday, Judy. Hope you have a very enjoyable and special day to mark the occasion.
Janet, I am happy to see you have decided to give your notice. It appears from your comments that you really dread having to work these days and if it isn't a necessity to do so then we should honor ourselves by doing what we want to be doing. So sorry to read that Beth has been so sick the last couple of weeks. Hope she improves quickly.
Scotty Boy, I will take a look at your pictures when I finish here.
Paul, congratulations. Wow! You are going to need a scorecard to keep track although it seems you have all the names and ages well mastered. Hope you and Pat enjoy our visit as it should be a joyful day.
Melody, in what part of the country do you live? Our strawberries are long gone for this season. It sounds like spring is just arriving where you are.
Etta Sue, laptops are wonderful. I would give up my desktop computer in a flash if I had to make a choice between it and a laptop. I highly recommend it with a wi-fi system so you can use it anywhere in your house, like in your easy chair.
I spent a lot of time yesterday afternoon removing software and saving copies of files I wanted from my old laptop so I can quickly install them on the new one.
This evening we are meeting our friends for dinner at Texas Roadhouse and then will go to one of their homes to play Mexican Train in dominos. Our daughter will be with us this evening and she is looking forward to playing the game as well. I have already figured out what I will be having for dinner and it is within my alloted W.W. points for today. I am doing very well on the plan and the first day of reckoning will be on Friday.
Time for coffee. Hope this is a good day for you all.
:coffee: Praise the Lord its a beautiful day here today and it will be in the eighties. I just love that
Larry I am in Canada and summer was a little late arriving but once it came it came with a bang LOL
Time to go out and water my flowers .
Judy. :hbirthday:
Melody - another Canadian! What part of that big country? We've been to B. Columbia, but that's as far as we've been.
Melody: Welcome! I am glad someone is having reasonable temperatures.
We spend each day packing something and taking our hour walks early. Afternoons are more quiet or running errands. We are getting thevan ready for a run to bring more fragile things to son's garage tomorrow, Don has a meeting in Denver and we need to look at paint chips so that means daughter will help with the colors . So much is starting to happen now. And of all things, I just realized that our actual move is during the Dem. convention - can you imagine getting two local trucks with our belongings and us in two vehicles going back and forth on the only north south freeway while everything is to be tied up in the city? It looks dreadful to us but that isn't for over a month.
We are thankful for so many things.

Hey, Al -you need to come a little farther. I live in Newfoundland. Beautiful place and lots of scenery.
I live near the ocean which I love. I will have to share some photos. :)
Melody, what a lovely province! How I'd love to visit there but just got as far as North Sydney in the lineup for the ship for the crossing and my father decided that we should really head home to Ontario sooner than planned.
I look forward to seeing some lovely ocean photos from you.
Larry, great news about the laptop. My crack on my monitor is starting to "bleed" now since it's little bump and I'm going to have to start saving maybe for a new one if the "bleeding" covers a lot of the area. Not good when you are trying to view photos!!! :(

Happy Birthday, Judy!!!
Janet ~ So glad you are giving your notice. I will be happy when I realize it is a done deal and your last work day there was yesterday!! I don't know how you do it or did it!!
Pat ~ Do you have a U.S. number I could reach you with in case my internet goes out again? Email me or something?
Larry ~ I have been taking my coffee and Bible out to my deck in the mornings. I think a laptop would be wonderful to sit outside in the fresh air before it gets to blooming hot. And nice to sit in my easy chair in the living room, too. And to take with me on trips and such. Been really thinking positive and then an expense comes up...this month Property Taxes that should have been in May but the state didn't get the notices out until last week...due the 30th!!! Is it costly and hard to do to hook up wireless?
I have been making lists and putting things in the dining room to take back to the woods Friday or before. At least the weather is saying sunny all day Friday with high's in the 90's! Great weather for a picnic.
Tony is coming this evening to check the tire that keeps losing air on the Craftsman and the air compressor that won't hold pressure. We may go back to the woods to see if there is anything he can help me to do.
Then tomorrow I have to mow the grass....my new sealed drive looks soooooo nice. Still stinks but who cares?
Then Friday, I have to be at my doctor's office at 9am for a blood test. Will probably go get breakfast and come back home. I want to fix my side dish in the afternoon and head back to the woods by 4pm!! Early but I don't want to be late for my own party!
Oh, yeah! In case you forgot, the picnic in the woods is for my high school graduating class.....Class of 1960 from Lapel High School. I haven't heard many who are coming but only a couple that said they couldn't come!! So that is hopeful!! a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m.

Melody - as Pat has said, that's a beautiful province, and I'd love to come visit it. Right at present, though, I can't do much travelling on account of my legs & hip problem. Your area is indeed high on my list though, as I also love the ocean, as you'll see by my poem below.
I Care
On barren rock, the lighthouse stood,
The sea, the rain, the wind withstood.
But now it makes no mournful sound
To tell the sailors rocks abound.
No lighthouse keep is living there.
The lights are gone, the moorage bare -
Just barnacles, and nests of birds,
And lonliness too great for words.
The sea cares not for works of men:
The waves will pound, and pound again.
The rain will beat, the wind will blow,
Windows will break, and rot will grow.
The day will come when nought is there.
The sea will win, and who will care?
But I have cared - this view will last,
To help you know what then is past.

To all who wished us a happy Birthday John and I say Thankyou. It was a quiet weekend, not uneventful though. The breakline on the left rear break rusted out so we had decreased breaking power. Fixed now though.
Very busy this week, no time to get on the puter, gotta run will be back tomorrow.
God Bless
Judy & John A Happy Belated Birthday.
Pat: What is a bleeding with your lap top. Sorry I am stupid.
Melody: I live in southern Ontario but have visited your beautiful country. When there we would have enjoyed going to Labrador but the ferry had ran unto a rock and there it stayed for the best of 2 wks the length of our vacation.
Paul & Pat: Enjoy the new arrival as they are so special.
We have been experiencing trying times but God is in control.
I have just finished making a large batch of meat balls many for the freezer and the rest for our speg. dinner this evening. Yesterday hubby & I cleaned the chest freezer, more time was used to empty it then to do the cleaning after the frost all fell off the sides. A job well done.

Oh, what a day this one has been! Yesterday, Darrel discovered there was a water line break near the faucet in the back yard. So today he and I took turns shoveling MUD to get to the line about three feet below the surface. Of course during the time we were working, we were without water, always an inconvenience. The mud was so sticky, we had to whack the shovel on a chunk of board to knock some of it off, and in between, used a stick to scrape it off the shovel. :P I told him while we were doing that, "We might just get too old for this stuff before long!" He said he thinks that time is coming soon. One nice thing, though, since we had no water, and it's hard to cook or clean up without water; we went to our favorite Mexican place and ate lunch. He needed to pick up a new contact list from the owner for her alarm system, so did two things in that trip. When we got home, he finished up the repairs and turned on the water again. But we won't fill in the hole until it dries out some and we see if everything holds okay.
We just reserved that 32 day trip to Thailand and Viet Nam for next year! We will leave on May 12 out of Denver. Carol, if you will email me your phone number, I can give you more information on it.
My goodness, Paul! You got as many grandkids from one of your kids as I got from all of mine! I envy your having a new baby to love, but we do have the little great-granddaughter. Just don't see her as much as we would like.
Ruth, I don't enjoy cleaning the freezer, either. But we have a new method these last few years. Darrel uses the appliance dolly to move it outdoors (after we unload it into ice chests) and we let it set out there until the frost loosens, then wash it out with the hose, let it dry and back into the garage it comes. This is an upright freezer, wouldn't work the same for a chest type. Much easier than the way I used to do it. Good to see you posting again, and I pray your trying times soon pass. (((hugs)))
Judy, glad you got those brakes repaired. Not good to have the brakes fail!
Etta Sue, I didn't get the email about the devotional book. Would you please re-send it? Thanks.
Al! I didn't know you were a poet! I really liked your poem, good job!
Melody, I am an ocean lover, too. And a scuba diver.
Scotty, I looked at Courtney's photos--good job!
Carol, I don't envy your moving during the democratic convention. Goodness! But maybe you can miss the worst traffic times, I hope!
Larry, you are making me think more and more that I would enjoy a laptop. I wish I could "play" with one, so I wouldn't worry about knowing how to use it. Maybe when Curtis comes down again, he will let me play with his.
Time to go get the mail! And no, I haven't given my notice yet. But soon....
Janet it may interest you to know that Keith is also a scuba diver. He said he hasn't had enough time to go in ahwile, he does swim every chance he gets.
I have been so tired today and I only worked a couple of hours. After lunch I laid down and have just gotten up, I still need to get outside and walk the dogs.
Larry how many points are you allowed each day and how do you calculet the amount of points you are allowed? I have the latest WW cook book and there sure are some fancy recipes in there.
Happy Birthday Judy.
Beautiful weather here on the island. Nice to see you again Melody. I live on Vancouver Island, a short drive from Victoria. Also love the ocean, tho' have not lost my love for the mountains in Alberta.
We get so much wind here now, with so many trees in back gone. I have been painting the black iron benches and table in the garden. Wanted to spray paint, not possible in the constant wind. So doing it with a paint brush. I like doing watercolors and acrylic pictures....this is much more physical work. Told my daughter that she best let me know of anything else needing work as my old body is getting much too stiff for this stuff :(
Nita, I hope your little dog is okay. Read on Sr. Net and was sad to learn about it being hurt.
My, you certainly do have a nice lot of grands, Paul. I only have one and she requires my help for misc. things. The computer prog. for her art studies this fall is so much that it will pay for her to buy the whole computer with it installed. She uses a Mac laptop, but this will be a desktop model....so guess who is going to provide the new desk.
Also a couple of hundred per month for her gas to get to Victoria. Any more grandkids and I would have to give up eating! Hope she will remember old gramie when a famous artist.....
I am glad that you are going to stop that job, Janet. Will continue to pray for Beth. Sorry that I can't continue with the daily shake...my tummy is being a real pain these days. Limited to a select group of food items and hope to get things under control. While everyone else has weight problems, mine has always been trying to not lose weight. Life is tricky... ::)
Time to try and round up my cat, Misty. She is enjoying the weather and not partial to coming inside without a struggle.
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Here is my observation, re Desktop vs Laptop.
I will personally not buy another Desktop because I use my laptop as a desktop! I have a 19 inch led screen connected from my laptop as my main screen and my 16 inch laptop screen as the extention allowing me to use both screens as one.
When we visited Larry in Atlanta recently he showed me how it works!! My regular optical mouse as well as my additional full size keyboard I connect into a 4 way USB extention where I can also plug my camera in for downloading my photos. Since my laptop only has an 80 gigibite hard drive, I purchased a 120 gigabite which also plugs into one of my three laptop USB ports. My scanner plugs in via USB and my HP Printer connects in with a parallel connection and cable to the laptop directly as well. If you have any questions , just ask Larry!!!!
Hi everyone. My new laptop was delivered as promised yesterday afternoon. As we had plans for the late afternoon and evening, I had only about an hour to look at the book and start to see what I had. So far I really like what I see. When we got home last evening around 9 pm I got the new laptop conencted to my network and got the MS OneCare installed on it so it is protected from virus and other mean things. I expect to be home all day and evening so should be able to make great progress in setting it set up the way I want it. If your are interested the following two paragraphs have some details about it. If you aren't interested just quickly scroll on by:

Janet, that is going to be some trip. Your digging project sounds like too much work for me. Hope you both can move about today after all that exertion.
Marilyn, my WW plan allows me 29 points a day plus 35 weekly points. So far I have not found it difficult to stay within the points and have eaten out three times since last Friday, including last night where I had a nice sirloin steak, salad and green beans and a few peanuts. We were at Texas Roadhouse and they have very good food. I did pass on the strawberry shortcake later in the evening. My wife gave me some of our favorite recipes to put into the recipe calculator on WW to determine the points per serving. It is really a neat tool.
Etta Sue, putting in a router is not difficult at all and I am almost positive you would love a laptop. I was figuring up and this is the 5th laptop I have bought over the years.
Melody, thanks for the information on where you live. I can better understand your posting of yesterday. You must have a short growing season as we did when we lived in Anchorage, Alaska many years ago.
Time to get started on my new laptop.
That was quite interesting Larry. Actually, I spent my working life working in the computer field and keep in touch with all the various wonders....Personally, prefer the desktop myself. Find it much easier on my arthritic neck, etc.
My granddaughter is only going to use the desktop for work at home. She has one of the most modern and expensive laptop Mac's....needs this computer because of the program for her art work and it is as cheap thro' the school, to get the whole thing...rather than only the program. Guess we all march to different drums! But that is what makes the world interesting.
Just finished reading Amy Grant's book 'Mosaic' and quite enjoyed it. My daughter is reading it now. Also reading a interesting mystery 'Executive Privilege', by Jay Brandon. I like to have at least two books on the go...spend limited time on the computer and TV. Find reading much more worthwhile. Unless doing art, that is!
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Could someone give me a link to Photography Cafe? I haven't been over there yet, and need to check it out.

Hi, everybody!
I had my swim, in hopes of working out the soreness from our digging project, and it did help, I think. Darrel says he sure is dreading having to get back down in the hole to connect the new faucet, etc.
Yesterday we noticed a lot of horse's footprints in our yard, right by the windows, close to the camping trailer, etc. Then this morning, there were more, also piles of horse droppings, and two of our young fruit trees had their main branches broken! :( As hard as it is to establish trees in this harsh Kansas climate, you can imagine we aren't happy about that! These little trees were three years old already! I decided to call the police and let them check it out. Two officers came out and looked things over, and found there were lots of cattle tracks, big and small, plus the horse ones; so they think someone's cattle were out and they came in our yard on horseback to round them up. They are supposed to investigate and get back to us.
Darrel is ready to leave and waiting on me..........Later!
Thank you, Marilyn. Now all I have to do is get permission to go look.
Janet, that sounds interesting! You should write a book, entitled "the Mystery of the Horse Poop"!

Janet ~ I sent you another email.
Larry ~ Interesting....velly intelesting!
I have the yard mowed and the lane mowed. And the horseshoes are in the trunk of the car. Tony came last night and discovered what was wrong with the air compressor. I came in and found the parts on Sears Parts Direct. So I called the 1-800 number and should have the parts Tuesday. S & H was $10.99 and probably being shipped from Indy...about 11 miles away!!! But worth it to me, not to drive and then not get them.
We went back to the woods and nephew Jeff has been working hard. Even cut wood to burn tomorrow night. Bless his heart!!
It sure was hot out there today. I don't think I had a dry thread on me when I got in the house!!
If I am not here tomorrow you will know why. I have to get a blood draw in the morning and then busy after that.>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<

Hey Al this is really a wonderful poem. Thanks for sharing.
I will pray for healing concerning the problem in your hip and legs .
I will share a picture of the ocean and you will see how picturesque it is here.
Hello Ruth in Southern Ontario.
Janet-Good to know you are an ocean lover, too. And a scuba diver-know I think that's really great.!!!!
Liz I think -Vancouver Island is beautiful also.
Blessing 's to all
Thanks Ed. Thanks Janet. Thanks Melody. And thanks for prayer. My wife and I were walking on a trail through the woods very close to the beach between Canon Beach and Seaside, Oregon. There was a wide place in the trail where you could go about 10 steps and get a good view of the ocean. Almost directly out from shore, though not attached at all, was a rock, and on the rock was a lighthouse. I stood there and wrote down the basics of the poem while there. But then, as always, I took it home and worked it over very extensively - they do not come quickly and easily by "inspiration." But it's my favorite poem that I've written. My wife drew an acrylic of the scene, and I have the poem at the bottom of it. I don't write much poetry, but I love doing it.
Al Moak-posted a few pictures of our ocean under travel-hope you like.
Hoping those photographers here will help me in sharing tips on how to take good photos.
Will be thankful for any advice!! ::)
Well, Scotty, the mystery is solved! Our neighbor up the road has cattle on the land across the road, only a one-wire electric fence to keep them in. At lunch, he walked by our table and Darrel asked him "Hey, Wilbert, were those your cows in my yard last night?" He said yes, that he had to get them out early this morning. I told him they did quite a lot of damage and he said "Sorry about that." When we came home, the police were talking to him and his wife, in their cars, blocking the road to our house. When Wilbert drove off, the policeman said he told them that probably if they pay for the trees destroyed, we will drop the matter, and we will. I hadn't even thought about it being their cattle!
I do not like having any kind of disagreement with neighbors. :(
I'm going to look at those ocean photos! They will probably make me homesick, though.
We are in the Denver area after dropping off another load of fragile stuff in one son's garage. He is the only one who has extra storage in his garage. Drove here after visisting with daughter and getting her input on paint chips and a few other things I have to think about before we move furniture in. We can't get in until Aug. 5th but want to hit the ground running. Too tiring to do much in this heat & we are feeling tired much too quickly.
Melody: We have been in Nova Scotia and that is as far NE that we have traveled. Loved it there as well.
Janet: We are going to AZ for three months this winter so I don't think I should even mention your trip. Good grief, we need to stay home in this new place. If you ever get to Denver - please do call. We will be getting our new phone number in August but it is tricky to keep the one in FC going before we leave too. Water troubles - just what you need and cows in the yard. Oh, joy.
Al: A lovely poem. Thanks for sharing.
I looked up a pastor we had in Texas - we helped build a church from scratch. It was such an exciting time to first meet in his home then in a school and finally build. Kinda letdown when the church was built and all these well-dressed strangers came and it just became different and not as close. But what a challenge and great time to be there at the beginning. His life changed and he is remarried and in a California church now and it was so nice to hear back from him. He married our daughter - insisted on premarital counseling for them and told them that they would always butt heads - so right but they love each other. I feel badly about his first marriage and do understand that a pastor has one of the hardest jobs in that people take advantage and call at all hours and even day off without regard to the family. You never know......
Carol, I don't envy you the hard work of selling one house, buying, refurbishing and moving into another. Whew, makes me tired to think about it! And don't give up on the trip too soon, we aren't going until May of 2009, so you have some time yet. Only problem is, those fill up pretty fast, because they are limited to 16 travelers per time slot. Darrel's brother Don's wife is going with us. She loves to travel, he won't do ANYTHING any more, and she is afraid to go by herself. It will be interesting! ;)
I'm posting early today, have to work a long shift. Only one more day this month, and that is next Friday. Our fair is next week, and I need to get frames on some painting to enter. Have to run a couple of errands before I go to work at 11:30.
I wish all of you a wonderful, God-filled day!
Recuperating from a 4 mile walk this morning. We are staying at a son's house and almost got a little lost. My legs are like rubber and the altitude is a little higher than we are used to at home. Whew
Don is about to make breakfast. He turned it into his job when he retired and I go along with that idea.
Melody - thank you for the words about my poem. Where did you post those photos of Newfoundland? I'd sure like to look at them.
Al, here (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=7189.0) are Melody's photos
Hi Folks.
This has turned into a stressful two days. We have a teacher that is as prickly as a Nevada Cactus. It is difficult to maintain a smile in my voice. Tomorrow is another day.
Thank you for all the birthday wishes. John will be in tonight. So we will have a quiet night.
Have to run
God bless

Hi everyone. I am getting tired of the overcast weather here and yearning for the sunshine. My Creative juices are flowing again and Ive been busy creating new stationeries to send in to my stat group.
Great workout at Curves this morning and I'm not so concerned about my weight as I discovered that for my age and height I am only 5 lbs heavy. No big deal.
My client's Husband is still in the hospital after going there by ambulance at 2 am yesterday. However I am going to work tomorrow (Saturday) to get some baking done for her that needs doing. don't usually work Saturdays but since I will be in Oregon next Friday I am working the extra day this week.
I still need to go to the grocery store today to get myself some fruits, veggies and nonfat milk.

Judy B. Happy belated birthday hope all is well. <3
Paul and Pat. Congratulations to the new baby and hope that things are going well with the transition to a new life. Pat could you email me your U.S. phone number.
Colin: I do hope that you are feeling better
Larry: That was a great poem and I hope that you and the wife and your daughter are doing o.k.
Melody: Welcome back .
To all others I had the oppertunity to go and visit my son that lives in Saint John New Brunswick Canada and we had a good visit with him and his wife. My friend is a retiree from Air Canada and they can take friends on a reduced rate so it saved me a lot of money and it was so nice to ba able to see them. It has been over 1 year since I saw him and I miss him a lot. Well I must go as we have a lot of things to do as my family arrive from Scotland tomorrw and we have to get ready. Please pray that we get many oppertunities to witness to them. God bless you all and have a wonderful weekend.Gord. :coffee:
Hi everyone.
This has been a busy week and I thought it was going to be a quiet one. I have spent a lot of time on computers and last evening a friend called and asked me to help them set up their DSL service after being on dial-up for years. It should have been an easy choir but we did have some difficulties including not plugging the ethernet cable back into the modem. We were about to give up when I stood up to leave and saw it wasn't connected. That allowed us to communicate with the modem and we did get the account set up and when I left they were on the Internet. This morning he called me that they couldn't get any pages to load. I stopped back by and am pretty sure the modem has failed. They are sending him another on Monday so hopefully he will be all set.
I then went to the county Senior Center to train one of the ladies there to update the website that I have maintained for them the last 9 years. She was a quick learner so don't think she will have any trouble. I went from there on to have more blood drawn to repeat some tests that didn't turn out right. I will see my gastroenteritist next week and my regular doctor wanted these tests redone. I then made a quick stop at Penny's to pick up a new catalog with a card we got in the mail yesterday. That was enough for one day.
Today was weight in day on my WW's and was happy to see a 3 1/2 pound reduction so know the program is working. I definitely plan to stay with the program.
Lots of interesting postings today. I will try to make individual postings today and this is already long.
Pat - thanks very, very much, but your post was blank (at least here it was blank).
:coffee:Good day to all.
I trust you all are having a great day.
Al-I posted the pictures of my area in Landscape and travel.
So Gord you have been to Canada I see.
Al ... click on the word "here" in Pat's post. ;)
:) Melody: I live very close to Niagara Falls in a place called Welland. This is where the Welland Canal goes from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie and also our area has a very large amount of fruit growing and also many flower greenhouses. Talk to you soon and may the Lord bless. Gord. :coffee:
Hi everyone. I will make a brief posting the first thing this morning in case I don't get back later in the day. It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here in the Atlanta area. We have a light schedule today with only a meeting to attend this morning. Of course, sometimes the days don't turn out as intended.
I think I have my laptop pretty well organized and setup the way I want it. I am really shocked at the great sound quality of the speakers--like nothing I have experienced before from a laptop. They are small but have a great tone and reasonable quality. I can now enjoy music without having to use the earphones all the time. I studied the book that came with it last evening to better understand all of the features and redid the face recognition identification as had my glass on the first time. I also took my first webcam picture using it and if the subject was beeter (it was me sitting in my easychair in front of the computer where the camera is) it would have been quite good.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Time to leave for coffee.
Good Morning: I have to work both jobs today as I already said I am leaving for Oregon Thursday right after work.
My Client called and her husband is home from the hospital, thank you to everyone who prayed for him. sdhe brought him home yesterday.
I have changed the dog's diet, I am now giving them each a full can of meat dog food for breakfast and the kibble for the eveing meal. To the meat I added a teaspoon of ground flax seed, ¼ teas each of Glucosamine and MSM along with tablespoon of Olive oil. I realized that Happy being 11 now needs more meat and other things in his diet to help his coat and skin as well as his joints.

The get together was a success!! 26 people showed up. Lots of great food and really not too hot back there in the woods. Seems it is always 10-15 degrees cooler especially if there is a breeze. And they were asking to return next year so we are going to try for June 12, 2009 with a rain date the following week. I have already gotten 4 thank you's by email!! That makes you feel good!
Tonight is a surprise birthday party for Ivalou's 75th! She thinks we are going out for Chinese!!! So I am sure it will be a fun evening and I know she will be surprised. I have been avoiding her all week for fear I would let the cat out of the bag. She will probably have a houseful of people tonight with all the Ohio ones being here!! <_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_>

Good afternoon everyone,
Just a quick thank you for the prayers for my husband Frank, he was transferred to a healthcare facility for rehab and hopefully that won't take too long and he can come home. It was a long 5 and a half weeks in the hospital. thanks again!
still trusting in Him,
Jeannine
Good news, Jeannine! Thanks for passing it along. Thank You, Father, for these things.
Good day to all.
Trust you all are having a good Saturday.
Its cloudy here today but very warm.
It seems my strawberries are not doing so good has I thought-so it looks like a short supply of strawberries this year.
But I have planted some more plants this year and hopefully this will give me enough strawberries for awhile.
Jeannie good to hear of that report for your husband. pray that he will be able to come home quickly.
Hey, all.
I've just spent the last hour or so checking out Photography Cafe. As soon as one of my parents cruise the site, and make sure it's clean, I'll sign up for a membership there.
I hope to see at least a some of you there.

Good morning everyone. It is going to be a hot day in July here in Georgia, well into the 90s and the air quality isn't very good around here, especially downtown Atlanta and nearby suburbs. We will attend church this morning and probably eat out and that is the plan for the day.
Our daughter was admitted back into the hospital for the 3rd time with the infection to receive IV antibiotics. Nothing seems to be solving the problem and her foot is aching about all the time now. Initially they told her she would be on the telemetry floor as her heart rate was 159 when so got there and is still above 110 and goes higher when she gets up. The doctors feel this is in part from the infection and so decided not to put her on the heart wing of the hospital. We spoke to her this morning and she said the foot is redder and the infection appears to be spreading. One of the doctors told her yesterday that the high heart rate is causing her heart to beat itself to death. She certainly has multiple problems. They are suppose to be a MRI of her foot while she is in the hospital and if they don't it would be October before she could get an appointment. She thinks they will keep her for several days in the hospital.
Jeannine, glad to hear your husband is improving and do hope the progress is rapid.
Etta Sue, your picnic sounds like it was a great success and the word will likely spread before next year. Hope you had a great time at the surprise party.
Melody, when I was growing up we lived on a farm and my mother had a very large garden, including a huge strawberry patch. I can remember the hard work it was to pick the strawberries and then getting sort of "burned out" on eating them as we had them in so many way. I still would say that strawberries are far from my favorite fruit. However, hope your crop improves as it sounds like you were really anticipating them this year.
Marilyn, you treat your dogs so well. It is good that you pay so much attention to their diets.
I almost forgot to mention some really good news. Our son has been working through a temp agency for a Japanese company in Aiken, S.C. The three months period that he has to stay a tempt is about over and Friday they called him in and offered him a full-time permanent job continuing to do what he has done as a temp. The pay isn't too high but the benefits are wonderful as the company pays for 97% of the costs of health insurance and the other benefits. They also provide uniforms for all of their employees, including those who work in the offices (as he does). He was very excited and relieved as he has gone for a long time without being able to afford any health insurance. He really seems to like this work, which is in human relations.
Wonderful news about your son, Larry! Sometimes those jobs that cover health insurance, etc. are really much better than the ones that pay more. I pray he'll enjoy and do well.
Good morning everyone. I trust you will feel God's blessings today. This is the day the Lord has made and I will be glad and rejoice in it.
Larry-I only have a small patch of strawberries which I plant in my garden. But it seems that they have not done good this year for some reason.
Praying for the Lord to touch your daughter. That this infection will clear up quickly
Praising God with you that your son got a good job. God is faithful.
Have a good day all.
Good morning, friends,
Happy Sunday! I had a stressful week with extremely long hours, off site meetings and lots of training sessions and teleconferences.
However, it's also been a very good week with plenty of emotions. Tuesday, I was in a long-distance training session and someone in the office where I work phoned asking me to come over to her desk. So, thinking it was urgent, I promised to phone the 2 people I was training to call them back. When I got over to Trenda's desk, there they were with all sorts of cake and friends to give me retirement good wishes and hugs aplenty. Of course, I teared up.
Then Wednesday when I got to an offsite meeting with my biggest client, lo and behold, they not only had a regular down-to-business meeting, but they also presented me with a beautiful plaque thanking me for excellent service and wishing me "all the best in your retirement." So, of course, I had a huge lump in my throat over that along with very misty eyes.
That meeting began on the dot at 7 a.m. and lasted through dinner until 9:45 p.m. Then back on Thursday with higher officials of the same company serving as moderator between certain vendors and that company until midday.
My ex-boss called during a break in the meeting and asked me for lunch next Wednesday. Well, with my son who lives in the UK being in the US already and coming to Nashville, I declined. So, he persisted, and I met him in his new company's parking lot on Thursday at lunchtime. He took me to a favorite restaurant of mine that serves Thai food. Oh, YUM! Their green chicken curry is my favorite - and they even tamed down the "heat" a bit so I could enjoy it. :) Reason for the lunch meeting??? My upcoming birthday, which I had forgotten. :idiot:
Friday was friends from work dropping by or calling. Also, I learned that the hospital that operated on my thumb has royally goofed up in their billings AGAIN, so the money has been nearly depleted from my medical savings account which is supposed to pay for my knee surgery week after next. Yikes! They've escalated this to high priority and have promised that by Wednesday they'll get it straightened out and the money wired to replace their withdrawals. Always something, isn't it.
So, I literally slept ALL of yesterday away. My son got worried because he couldn't get me to wake up. But, about 5 p.m. I was ready to get up and of course very hungry. I ate a snack and he and I together put up the new light fixture in our kitchen. Then we had a bit of supper, and I went to my bedroom to watch TV - which of course, ended up watching me! ;)
So, I got up this morning, thinking it was Saturday, began doing my Saturday chores, went to my bedroom to rest a moment and Joel Osteen was speaking on TV. Well, he comes on on Sundays! So, here I am, it's Sunday and I didn't even go to worship.
I've read all the postings, and hope to have lots more time from now on out. It's vacation all this week, but here in town. Then, just 2 days to work, the knee replacement on the 30th, and fully retired as of the 31st.
Y'all have a wonderful day with the Lord.
What a busy week you have had Ruth Ann congratulations on your coming Brithday and retirement. Sounds like people are very appreciative of your service.
Praying for Stacey, Larry. I remember when I was taking care of Gloria and her toe/foot got so infected, they treated it for months and months ended up having to amputate the toe.
I didn't go to church this morning I watched John Hagee and Charles Stanley on TV instead. I just felt like soaking up the word today instead of going to church. I am just taking it easy today and keeping an eye on Bebe, I don't want her to hurt he leg any further. I prayed over her this morning So I know she will get better soon.
Nita I sent you a link to a nice site about dogs.
Hi to everyone else hope you have a blessed Sunday.

The surprise birthday party for Ivalou's 75th was a huge success. She didn't have a clue what was going on. There was 29 people there. And the really big surprise is she has 14 extra house guests last night. The ones from Ohio didn't want to go back home last night so she had wall-to-wall people all night.
She didn't go to church this morning but I went by myself to her church. I saw one lady that I hadn't seen for 49 years so I introduced myself and then hugged and chatted about old times for a while. Then four other ladies and I went to a steak house for lunch. As I was driving my driveway the last car was leaving Ivalou's driveway.
And her birthday is the 22nd and we are going to 'Beef and Boards' so she will be celebrating again!! <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo>

Marilyn, did I miss a post about Bebe? What is wrong with her leg?
Good Sunday to all!
Samantha Bebe injured the ACL in her left rear knee 3 years ago. Every now and then it bothers her. This is the worst it has ever been, I think she reinjured it jumping off my bed, which is rather high. I have called a friend about getting a big crate for her to sleep in. She has been hopping around on three legs for two days now. Soemtimes she will put her foot down very gingerly then pick it right back up.
Please pray for my dog Bebe.
Ouch, Marilyn! Poor Bebe. With all this icky knee and hip pain, I can only imagine what she's going through, and she can't tell you exactly what hurts, either.
Time to lock the door and start a new "Thoughts for the Week"
