We are all missionaries...
Wherever we go,
we either bring people nearer to Christ,
or we repel them from Christ.

Morning Devotional...
Peter's Second Sermon
Acts 3:12--4:4 NLT
Peter saw his opportunity and addressed the crowd. "People of Israel," he said, "what is so surprising about this? And why stare at us as though we had made this man walk by our own power or godliness? For it is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the God of all our ancestors—who has brought glory to his servant Jesus by doing this. This is the same Jesus whom you handed over and rejected before Pilate, despite Pilate's decision to release him. You rejected this holy, righteous one and instead demanded the release of a murderer. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. And we are witnesses of this fact!
"Through faith in the name of Jesus, this man was healed—and you know how crippled he was before. Faith in Jesus' name has healed him before your very eyes.
"Friends, I realize that what you and your leaders did to Jesus was done in ignorance. But God was fulfilling what all the prophets had foretold about the Messiah—that he must suffer these things. Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah. For he must remain in heaven until the time for the final restoration of all things, as God promised long ago through his holy prophets. Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your own people. Listen carefully to everything he tells you.' Then Moses said, 'Anyone who will not listen to that Prophet will be completely cut off from God's people.'
"Starting with Samuel, every prophet spoke about what is happening today. You are the children of those prophets, and you are included in the covenant God promised to your ancestors. For God said to Abraham, 'Through your descendants all the families on earth will be blessed.' When God raised up his servant, Jesus, he sent him first to you people of Israel, to bless you by turning each of you back from your sinful ways."
While Peter and John were speaking to the people, they were confronted by the priests, the captain of the Temple guard, and some of the Sadducees. These leaders were very disturbed that Peter and John were teaching the people that through Jesus there is a resurrection of the dead. They arrested them and, since it was already evening, put them in jail until morning. But many of the people who heard their message believed it, so the number of believers now totaled about 5,000 men, not counting women and children.

Not often will sharing the gospel send us to jail as it did Peter and John. Still, we run risks in trying to win others to Christ.
We might be willing to face a night in jail if it would bring five thousand people to Christ, but shouldn't we also be willing to suffer for the sake of even one?
What do you risk in witnessing--rejection, persecution? Whatever the risks, realize that nothing done for God is ever wasted.
The Best of the Bible--365 Must-Read Bible Passages
Thank you Etta Sue. Some really thought provoking questions there!
Etta Sue: Interesting questions in the devotions. Thank you.
We had a really interesting sermon this morning as well and all gave thanks for air conditioning. I remember going to an afternoon wedding in a little old church in Minnesota where several were carried out - the heat and no air were oppressive that day.
Well, it had to happen. After the horrible tragedy in Norway, they are calling the shooter a Christian - right wing Christian. This just burns me when true Christians are attacked & so blatant in our secular media. No true Christian would even have an evil thought like the shooter.
Carol, I have noticed that often those who accuse are the guilty ones. They said something in the first report I heard about "right wing extremists" and I thought, watch out! The media is so corrupt it is awful......
SHIRLEY IS HOME!!! And she called me last night! I was SO happy to hear her voice! She said her experience in the Johannesburg hospital was really bad....good doc tor but terrible nurses. She is more than happy to be home, but is very glad she went, and can't wait to tell us all about her time in Malawi. If you have a bit of time, look up Malawi riots on Google. Very interesting. I'm so glad Shirley got out of there before the riots started!
The fair is over, now I can rest and read a bit today. Work tomorrow, then judge at Hugoton on Tuesday. I don't yet know about the rest of the week, but am sure there will be something to do!
I went and got Beth after Sunday School and brought her to church. She has expressed a desire to come every Sunday now that we have a pastor who talks to her and shows that he cares about her. This is an answer to prayer! And it is good for her to get out more. Pastor Kris sat beside her and prayed for her after the service. Good man!
It isn't quite as hot today, at least not yet. We got about a half inch of rain last night, praise God.
I hope everyone is praying for Israel, God's chosen people, and for the peace of Jerusalem, that no plot to divide the Holy City will be allowed to succeed.
Etta Sue, thank you for that wonderful devotion today. The questions really make one stop and closely examine our actions and intentions!
Janet, praise God that Shirley is safely home. Any more news yet from Eli?
Yes! Eli and the rest of the team are in Rome and will be heading home tomorrow, I think. God is good!
And, all of us said in reply to Janet:
ALL THE TIME GOD IS GOOD
This has been such a surprising weekend. I NEVER dreamed a birthday could be so nice.
Dinner last evening at a great Italian restaurant with my daughter and son-in-law. They gave me a cute card and inside was a shopping card with $1 for each year of my life, and a cute little note from my SIL saying have a wonderful year from "your favorite son-in-law" -- my ONLY son-in law! ;D
Then lunch with my church friends today, and while there, they kept up so many quips and laughs that at times people were wiping tears from their eyes.
How refreshing to come through a harrowing time of emotional stress, to learn that people reall do love and care.
Yes,
God is good - all the time.
Our pastor's sermon this morning was about how, when the times are so difficult, yet there is still a way we can praise THROUGH our tears.
I truly hope his sermon is on our church's website so that I can listen to it again and again.
Much love to everyone
Ruth Ann

Thank you for the comments on the devotion. It does make one think, doesn't it?
Here it is Monday again! What an awesome weekend! And it included rain and a cooler night. But it is to be in the 90's again today. The radio said 8 days in a row. I know that isn't 100 but it is hot for here!
Rehab today for Ivalou and I. It is going to be our last day to go together. She goes again Wednesday and I don't go again until Friday. Then I am scheduled next Monday but that might be cancelled today. I am going to do maintenance in the pool. Love that warm water!
I don't know if Ivalou and I will celebrate with a meal today or not. She said she has lots of food to eat since her oldest daughter and family were here over the weekend and her DIL made her several frozen dinners for her birthday! "++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++"

Hi everyone. Not going to get into the 90s today and we have a chance of rain this afternoon. We need the rain but over the weekend we discovered a stain on our ceiling in the in the corner of thefoyer right at the front door. It is dry so don't know how long it has been there. There is a possibility a gutter may have backed up as we had a huge downpour not long ago and this is only about a three foot section of guttering. I checked it this morning and it is not clogged but could have been overwhelmed. I have got a call into a roofing company to come and check out the roof as sure don't want more water damage to the interior of our home.
When I took my friend home this morning his wife came out to the car and asked me if I wanted some figs. She had just come back from picking them. I said I would thinking it would be a half dozen or so figs. However, she must have brought out 50 to 75 figs in a container. I will take them with me to my event his evening and share them with others as Pat won't eat them (too sweet) and I couldn't eat this many in a long time.
Today is my Monday men's luncheon and we will be going to an Italian Restaurant. That and the event this evening will be it for today.
Etta Sue, thanks for the fine devotional thought for this week.
Carol, I agree with your comments about portraying all Christians by the actions of one person. Many claim to be one thing when they are something else. This was a terrible work of evil.
Janet, glad you have been able to talk with Shirley as know it relieves your mind. Also glad to see the Eli and the team are out of harms way and soon will be home. It is nice to see that Beth is able to go to the church services and that the pastor is praying with her. Our daughter attended her church yesterday and said the minister had asked her to make a special effort to be there next Sunday and after the service she is to select an area where she can park her wheelchair and they are going to shorten three pews to accommodate wheelchairs for her and two others that attend in wheelchairs. They are in the final stages of remodeling the sanctuary so it is handicap friendly. She could hardly get into the sanctuary before and had to have help getting down the steep ramp.
Ruth Ann, glad you had such a nice birthday celebration with members of your family.
Hi, friends,
Larry, our church shortened some pews also to accommodate wheelchair worshippers. Now, if they'd just widen that handicap door a bit, I could probably get inside should I need my wheelchair again. :) Naughty, naughty, Ruth Ann - be thankful for the ramp and the handicap entrance. ???
I didn't sleep at all last night - probably because of that long, long nap yesterday afternoon. Hmmmm - surely don't want to get my days & nights mixed up.
It seems a bit cooler today, so maybe our citizens without air conditioners can get a break at least for today.
Y'all have a good afternoon - time to get busy with some chores again. :)
See you later.
Ruth Ann
Some of the very old churches have no accommodations for wheelchairs - no way to get up the steep steps and the bathroom added in late years was in the basement.
Janet: So glad that Shirley is home safe. That is just terrific that Beth will be able to sit comfortably in the church as well as two others and it is really nice to hear that your new pastor is a compassionate listener.
I am baking bread for a neighbor who watered the front flowers daily. It sounds like another thunder/lightning storm is on the way. Finally loaded a free game on my iPod and it is called Angry Birds. Such funny chatter - so far my scores are pitiful. Not to worry - I am not addictive to the electronic game. A cousin from Sweden wrote - her daughter & that family now live in Oslo and as you can imagine both countries are in shock from such tragedy.
Larry, we recently did a remodel of the sanctuary and got chairs, and they move the end ones on two rows to accommodate Beth's chair. That makes it so nice for her. Yesterday she chose a place she wants to sit where she won't be right under the ceiling fans, as they make her too cold.
I worked today, am really tired now. Beth asked me to take her to the movie Mr. Popper's Penguins tonight, but called a bit ago to tell me not to come, as she is sick at her stomach. Not from anything I cooked, as she only ate fresh fruit for breakfast, then half a Subway sandwich she had in her refrigerator for lunch. Hope she feels better soon.
Etta Sue, I also enjoyed the devotional, really good questions!
Shirley called me a few minutes ago, but we had just gotten started visiting when her daughter showed up, so she said she will call me later.
I heard this afternoon on TV that the murderer in Norway used to attend church but renounced his membership years ago. But would the media stress that? I don't think so! Such a sad situation. He said he did it because the Muslims are moving in and taking over his country. Well, then why kill his own countrymen??? Doesn't compute!
I was thinking I had to judge in Hugoton tomorrow, but it isn't until Wednesday. So I will have a day to recuperate! Yea!!
Well, Marbeth goes to her quilting group today, and I go just a few blocks away to a place called the Coffee Break until she's done around 11AM, then I pick her up and we go to the CoOp for just a few things (the prices are too high to do more), then home. Then, after 1:30, we go to the fitness center for a little treadmilling. Then probably Starbucks (our other family), then home. Then I'll come back here and see if anybody did anything today.
Hi everyone. I met the roofing man at McDonald's and directed him to our house. He is now on the roof trying to find the cause of the leak. We had more rain yesterday afternoon and the spot in the foyer became wet again. I just hope we don't have to have a whole new roof put on. The roofing man has found wind damage on my roof that is the cause of the leak and where it is coming in and told me I needed to contact my insurance agent to get an adjuster. I have now called and will await a call back.
Not much on tap today other than a meeting this morning and then will have a quiet day. Yesterday was busy enough for two days but enjoyed it.
Al, sounds like you have a pretty busy day planned. Do you have a particular type of coffee at Starbucks? I have never been to one of those coffee shops although they are plentiful around here. I don't care that much for coffee.
Janet, do hope Beth is feeling better today. I know the chairs make a santuary more versatile to use. We have big heavy pews in ours. I heard them say on TV this morning that the maximum sentence for the killer in Norway was 21 years although they can retry him and he could serve another 5 years and that process can be repeated if it is determined he shouldn't be released into society. Hope you have a restful day today before your judging tomorrow.
Carol, homemade bread sounds like a very nice thank you. I have played the Angry Birds game and have it on my phone. I am not good at it either and don't play it very often.
Ruth Ann, do hope you enjoyed a better nights rest last night.

Our little 150 year old church has an elevator in it. I remember when I was in grade school that the church was jacked up and a basement went in under it. Then an addition was built on the north end. You can enter by about 6 steps at the front entrance or ground level at the side entrance. From there you go down about 6 steps to the basement or up about 8 steps to the sanctuary level. Before my Mom passed away she helped pay for the elevator to be installed. I wish that she never had to use it but without the elevator, she would not have been able to get into church.
But the new church building will be one level...no steps or ramps! AND more and bigger restrooms!! And a bigger kitchen!! And more classrooms!! And more staff rooms!! And multi-purpose sanctuary/gym!
Hopefully the digging will start in September!!
Today is SAMS with my church group and this evening is Beef and Boards to see 'Church Basement Ladies'. This will be our third time to see the 'ladies'...all different themes. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I've never had Starbucks coffee and it doesn't tempt me. I enjoy coffee, but I want it to be coffee. No sugar, no cream, no fancy added ingredients or flavors... just coffee. ;)
I am a tea drinker. I love some of the new flavours in "coffee" shops. The herbals are really good as well. Sometimes just a wee bit of sweetener is all the addition to the herbals. Regular tea....milk (not cream) and s bit of sugar!
Judy, I enjoy tea, too, also without additions. But I'm a lazy tea-brewer - Tetley tea bags, one per cup. :D
We'd get on just fine I think!
I like coffee, and I like tea! And I think I have had three cups of FOURbucks coffee in my life, always at an airport while waiting for the next flight. They may (probably do) have coffee that is less expensive, but four + dollars per cup is too much for a conservative gal like me! ;)
I just had the most wonderful hour and a half visit with Shirley!! What an interesting and exciting time she had in Malawi! She has journals full of notes, and is adding to them as she remembers other incidents. I'm sure her next book will be a good one! And I can hardly wait to go visit her, but need to wait until she gets whatever is needing done to her hip done. Wouldn't want to make the long drive to find her in the hospital!
Darrel has gone to Liberal to work on an alarm system with Curtis, so I will likely go to the Senior center for lunch.
Larry, I hope your roof repairs won't be too costly! Hate those leaks, water damage is nasty.
We got an inch and a half of rain since Saturday night! Praise God!! When I walked early this morning, it was so lovely and cool, lovely sunrise, birds singing, etc. There was a mockingbird on the tip top branch of a dead tree over by the neighbors', and it was singing its heart out. When it came to a certain place in its song, it was as if its exuberance lifted it straight up into the air about five feet, then it would land in the same place and continue singing. There are so many blessings that go unnoticed far too often, for which we should be praising our wonderful Creator!
I guess I need to be about my day's activities, even though they aren't as many as usual, and I am thankful for that, too!

Judy, I'm sure of that. With or without coffee or tea! :D

Hi, friends, I surely hope all who aren't here the last few days will return and bring others with them. :)
A friend took me to lunch over at the church across the street. Ahhhhh, it was GOOD! And, the prices are reasonable. It may make me eat there much more often and enjoy the stillness, cleanliness, and great people.
Y'all have a wonderful day. It's time, now, to thaw out something from my fridge and prepare to go to church for Tuesday evening Bible study.
Much love to all of y'all.
Ruth Ann
We went tot he free Movie for seniors put on but one of the Banks and 3 Rehab centers. We saw Larry Crowne with Tom hanks and Julia Roberts. It was a real cute movie.
I finished another Baby Afghan and the hat to match Now I am going to make a Pr of booties also to match. These are for Baby Jackson Shawn Riley. then I have to make one more baby afghan for another grandson and his wife in Colorado. I do have a dishcloth on my circular knitting needles.
Well time for me to go walk the dogs.
Al: I did clean the kitchen floor and dusted but now just getting my quilted hot pads ready to work on tonight with the group. Just wanted you to know that it wasn't a total washout day for me. Don always visits with my neighbor's husband on these nights and they play cribbage. Yes, we see that gas is going higher - watching things.
Larry: I hope that your roof is fixed perfectly and especially before the next storm.
Coffee for the morning or anytime and tea is for the afternoon. You can have whatever you want and it is free at my house.
Our bible study is off until after Labor Day - really miss it. We would go to the Wed. night service too but that is especially geared towards college age this entire summer.
Son and grandson are back safely from a week of sailing. It was grandson's first time on a larger boat - can't wait to hear what he thinks about the sea.
A quiet place to eat and very clean for Ruth Ann - that sounds perfect.
Janet: You found an inspired Mockingbird! A very neat experience. How great that you had such a long visit with your sister, Shirley. Does she live very far from you? there must be tons of pictures. I hope Beth feels better tomorrow for sure.
Carol, Shirley lives about 5 1/2 hours from me. I wish she were closer. She gave me a lovely compliment this morning, one I will treasure in my heart. She said, "I told my family that I missed out on SO MUCH by not getting to know Janet better years ago!" :) 8)
Here is a really great money saving tip, one I found in the Readers Digest. It is in a one-page article by a young, down to earth, self-made millionaire named Clark Howard. In a list of a dozen ways to save a dollar, he suggests: Order prescription eyeglasses online for as little as $7.00 a pair at zennioptical.com. I just went by and picked up my prescription and as soon as I finish this, will be ordering a pair! When I checked it a few days ago, the most expensive pair I looked at were $39.95, and that was bifocal, transitional, scratch-coated and everything! And includes the frames!! I really need a spare pair, so it's a good time to try it out! I will let you know if I am happy with them.
Please pray for my son Ron who lives in North Carolina, he is working part time at a nuclear plant in Lynchburg VA 200 miles from his home. here is the email I got today.
Please keep praying for me, I am really taking a downhill turn. For over week all I've wanted to do is hide under the blankets and try not to let the devil win. This PT job is driving me crazy and it doesn't look like I will get any working with this company until next spring. I don't know how long I will be able to draw unemployment. I won't be able to survive without it. I keep sending out resume's online, but very little interest is being returned.
Larry - Actuallly, we don't normally even drink any coffee at Starbucks. They have an iced green tea that is very, very good. They have all kinds of things. Besides, we've gotten to know most of the employees at this one so that it almost seems like family.
Al, in the Bible study we are doing in Sunday school, they talk about the importance of frequenting the same business for a period of time; getting to know the employees, so that you are able to minister effectively when the opportunity presents. The study is called Contagious Christians. Most people who have time to go for coffee in the mornings have their favorite place and favorite group to meet there. If I lived in town, I might pursue that myself.
Today I go to Judge art at Hugoton, so there will be plenty of activities to fill my day.
Hi everyone.
A quiet day ahead with just an afternoon eye appointment, which is routine as have my eyes checked once a year since my dad had glaucoma. No Bible study or choir this week and that all resumes next week as we head into the fall season. I have enjoyed the little break during July.
I had a call from the insurance company giving me the name of the insurance adjuster who is to contact me to look at the roof. We did have another shower last evening but don't think we had any wind. The rain didn't last very long.
Etta Sue, your new church building sounds very nice. What will happen to your old church building?
Jeanne, I also have never used cream or sugar in my coffee. I do enjoy a flavored coffee once in a while such as hickory nut flavor. It wouldn't break my heart never to drink coffee again.
Judy, we like iced pekoe tea but don't have it very often. I also like a cup of hot tea once in a while.
Janet, good renaming of Starbuck's as I understand the cost of their coffee. However, I think I remember they have introduced a less expensive blend some months ago. Al, do you know whether I am remembering that correctly? It would be wonderful if the insurance would pay for a new roof. However, what will be will be. I am not going to worry about it as not something in my control. Sure glad to read that you are getting cooler weather and have gotten some moisture. Wow, what a nice comment from Shirley. Relationships and friendships are such an important part of making life more enjoyable. Clark Howard has been on the Atlanta radio station in the afternoons for many years and is very well respected. You could hear him on the computer on WSB ( http://www.wsbradio.com/ ). I listen to him quite often. He also has a good website with helpful information. He is all about saving money. He has also paid from his pocket the cost of building a large number of Habitat for Humanity home in the area and at Christmas collects toys for children living in care or foster homes (as I recall) by broadcasting from various Wal-Marts.
Ruth Ann, does your church have a daily senior luncheon or something?
Marilyn, they sure don't have any free movies around here. We do have a theater that runs older movies for $2 a ticket (they used to be $1). I can relate to your concern for your son as I have a son in somewhat the same situation although doesn't have to drive a long distance to work but has a minimum wage job. He and his wife are really struggling. I will be praying for Ron. I want to gag each time I hear our politicians trying to tell us how much better off we are now than we were when so many people can't find employment. On Sunday they announced that our food bank in our part of the county was empty so were putting out an emergency call for help. They have seen a 25% increase in demand this summer. Several counties, including our county, have been preparing sack lunches for children who normally get meals at school but would have nothing to eat during the summer break. Where I attend one of my meetings they are preparing the sack lunches and it is quite a sight to see the 400 paper bags set up for the next day's distribution.
Al and Janet, our Bible study group has developed a relationship with some of the people at the Dunkin' Donut and the next door restaurant where the group often eats. On of the waitresses at the restaurant recently joined our church with her son.
Sorry about writing so much this morning but your comments just brought to mind things I wanted to say.
Carol, I have always loved to play cribbage. We used to play that during the lunch period where I worked. It made a nice break during the day. One of the men kept a running score over a long period of time. This brings back a good memory of day long gone.
I know some of you are not old
enough to get this,
but you can pass it on to some
old person who
needs a laugh today!!!

Janet, thanks for the heads up on very reasonable glasses. I didn't see where you can get transitional lenses on that website. Mine are transitional progressive lenses now. I really like not having to have sunglasses...especially when going in and out of buildings. Not necessary to carry a different pair.
Larry, the old church will be torn down once we get moved into the new church. The existing sanctuary has 6 smaller stained glass windows and two huge ones. We want to use them in Phase 2 when a new sanctuary will be build next to this new building that will have a sanctuary/gym.
I, too, have never had a Starbucks. But when it is very cold, I like a flavored coffee or tea! Sometimes I just buy the flavored creams and sometimes the flavored coffee to brew. And I have never ever put milk/cream in tea! When I get a hunger for a cappuccino, I head to a convenient store and get a 16oz. one for $1.07!! Did that yesterday morning and it was sooo good! Normally I like my regular coffee black.
Free movies? We have a theater near by that has free movies on certain days of the month. My neighbor, Jane, and another lady went to see 'Horrible Bosses'. She said the language was so foul...not a sentence without a curse word...that they got up and walked out within the first 10 minutes! So don't see it! But I would love to see 'Larry Crowne'.
Jane is who I made the dish clothes for. Yesterday bringing her home from SAMS, she asked me to come in and get my quillo. It is beautiful with a red cardinal on the front. I know I will really enjoy it this winter! She certainly does great work!
Today is a do-nothing day. I cleaned house Saturday and mowed Monday so it is do-nothing today. I could go to the bank and cash/deposit some checks but that can be done tomorrow. Then again tomorrow is a do-nothing day also. Maybe the bank Friday when I go to swim rehab! I also want to go to Lowe's Friday to get a new dryer vent hose...my dryer is taking too long to dry a load of clothes. And I broke my umbrella clothesline so I want to check one of them out. Tony is going to help me with both of these chores maybe over the weekend!SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE

Hello all,
I am back up at running with the internet still busy unpacking at the new house and have a few things at the old house to get this weekend... Janet we moved to Beaver, OK so not far but far enough... We (ruth and I) went through Hugoton yesterday on our way back to Keyes for a few things and the fair looked like it had a few people there not many but we didn't stop and see the exhibits since we were on a mission to get down there and back. There is also another individual that we believe is living in Hugoton again that we didn't wish to run into there. Anyways it is almost lunch and I need to get up at fix lunch for Ruth and I then get ready as I have an interview for a job today (prayers please) Have a good day ;)
Sarah
Etta Sue what is a quillo?
I never used sugar in tea till ecently. I find I have less acid problems with a bit, I suppose it was Mother who got me drinking tea with milk, now Dad liked his with real cream..
I"m out mowing today. this is a job I enjoy. there is a sunny sky and a nice breeze. Came in to get a drink then back at it.
What you don't see when you leave the caqmera on the kitchen table! A flashof red as I was driving drew my eyes to a red-head woodpecker! Lovely sight. Also I do beieve we have a bluebird nest close by, we saw a pair about a week ago.
Time to get back to work!
Thank you Larry for praying for my son Ron. It is greatly appreciated.
Judy a Quillo is a quilt that fold up into a pocket and makes a pillow.
Etta Sue, yes, they do have transitional progressive lenses! That's what I ordered, and with that, plus the anti-reflective coating, frames and all, they only cost $106.00. So that is quite a big savings! I never had the progressive lenses before, always the line bifocals, so I hope they won't be too hard to get used to.
Good to see you, Sarah! The exhibits weren't there yesterday (Hugoton fair) as they were entered this morning, then judged this afternoon. I had a good time there, and got to visit several whom I hadn't seen for some time.
Larry, no apology necessary, I, for one, really enjoy your posts, and it's fun to share memories with each other.
Marilyn, prayers for Ron, and thanks for the little video. I knew what a quillo is, but it's a little hard to explain. The video makes it clear.
Since I got home early I will get to go to my little scrapbook thing. They (we) are having a little tea party today, and also making a scrapbook page featuring teapots and cups. Should be fun! :)
I isn't yet quite as hot as before the rain, but it's working on it! I think it's a little over 100 today.
Marilyn, thankyou for the explaination, I never saw one of those! And Yes I am praying .
I have almost done the lawns. After 4 hours of mowing I am done!!!
I love hearing about each of your days, so interesting to me. Thank you each of you for telling us what is up in your lives! As I read I ray for each of you.
Going to relax for a bit before eating.
Marilyn: Prayers for your son. Unfortunately, we know too many people either out of work or working at a much less job than they are used to and the future looks so grim. I can only tell them to hang on and have faith - tough on the children & teens especially.
Larry: Prayers for your son as well - the politicians talk about losing money for SS and other benefits - why can they not go without pay and the numerous perks - flying to their states & in first class. It is a national disgrace when you find out their benefits that they keep bestowing on themselves. It reminds me of the French Revolution times. Clueless royalty.
Right now - a huge storm came up rather quickly. Lucky for me as I drove last night that storm went around. We just finished grilling a small piece of salmon for dinner and have not used the grill for some time because of these everlasting storms. I left my wallet at the veggie store & was so disgusted with myself for being so dippy. These things really worry me. Fortunately, the wallet was turned in by the cashier - that is what I get for being so talkative.
JudyB: Can't imagine my drivel in here is interesting to anyone but I sure do appreciate a prayer anytime and say a prayer for everyone. I did organize a bit in my sewing room & my aim is to pick up some work every day and finish those unidentified objects in my box labeled "Projects".
Hi, friends,
Not a long answer tonight - this leg pain turns out to be a pinched nerve in my back. So, I sit as long as possible, then squirm a lot because of the pain. So, will be doing water exercises and physical therapy to see if we can avoid further meds or possibly some sort of procedure.
Larry, the church across the street has the little cafe to help support its outreach for christian but down on their luck individuals. It, thus far, is a win-win situation.
Marilyn, I do best in my apartment home-making, if I keep to my little motto of "Do Just One Thing" - when that's applied to anything out of place, etc, the apartment seems to smile broadly, maybe wiggle a bit with delight, and certainly become so much more welcoming for friends and relatives to visit. Your resolve to do much the same thing with your projects really resonates with me. :)
Gotta go, friends,
Love y'all.

Janet, I didn't go to the order form on Zenni Optical. But I did go to Contact Us and sent an email asking about Transitions lenses. Sure enough they do have as you say when you click on order! Janet, do not get discouraged with your progressive lenses. Do not! My first pair made me think I was on a rocky boat all the time. Seemed like everything was moving at the sides! It took me about two weeks to finally get to the point where I did not want to take them off and throw them across the room!! But now....I wouldn't have anything but progressive. And I am certainly going to try this website when I get new glasses again. Even $200 would be better than the $567 that I paid for the ones I have on! What a savings! Wonder if there are websites for cheaper hearing aids for people?? Hmmm! Now that would be a great savings for anyone hearing impaired.
Marilyn, thanks for the YouTube Quillow demonstration. I would not have thought to look on YouTube to learn how to fold it back into a quillow. Jane showed me but it was different than what was demonstrated. I guess either works if it is the same result. And Marilyn, I am praying for Ron also. Soooo many people need jobs. And I (we) may need one after next month!!
Good to see you Sarah!
Today is another do-nothing day....meaning I don't have an appointment anywhere. But I am doing some laundry and I need to go to the bank sometime today.
Tomorrow is pool rehab. Ruth Ann, I know you will love the pool. If it is like ours, it is like being in a huge bathtub without the bubbles!! And I need some items at Walmart and Lowe's. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FDailys%2F%253Cbr%2520%2F%253EGstgt.gif&hash=da7fafdf978bee68bcf8bb0a8a726d94c1a0eb4f)
Another sunny day here in Georgia with only a small chance of additional rain for a day or so. I did hear this morning from the insurance adjuster and he has contacted the roofing contractor and both will meet here Monday morning. I have a day with no appointments or things that I need to leave the house for so will just stay in and stay cool.
Last evening Pat and I went to the restaurant at the county airport and had a good meal. I have been there quite a few times and it is where we saw the Elvis concert last week. Last night they have 4 musicians who just came there to jam a bit so we enjoyed 30-45 minutes of music. When I got home I watched the movie "The King's Speech", which I thought was excellent.
I did see my eye doctor yesterday and all is fine. He said my cataracts had progressed a bit but still not enough to be a problem. Didn't need to change the prescription for my glasses, which I felt would be the case. I have worn the same prescription for several years. He did say it is normal for the eyes to change some about my age.
Etta Sue, thanks for the info on your old church building. Isn't it a shame when the movies seem to think people want to hear this type of vile language in every sentence.
Sarah, glad to see you got moved and are getting settled in your new place. That is always a lot of work.
Judy, my wife has made a number of quillos and is currently making two more for our son and DIL to replace two they have worn out with use. They are small little quilts that can be folded into an attached pocket to make a pillow sized folded quilt. (I see Marilyn has give you a link showing the quillos.
Janet, it sounds like you had fun at the fair.
Carol, one day I was checking out at Kroger's at the self-help station and took out my wallet to get the payment and then picked up my bags and started to walk away when the attendant told me I had left my wallet laying on the scanner table. I seem to keep doing this forgetful things (was going to say dumb but I know better). All the postings are interesting. Not everyday can be exciting but it is our day.
Ruth Ann, thanks for the info on the cafe in your church.
Etta Sue, I found it took a day or so to train my brain to adjust to the progressive lenses. I have worn them for a number of years and love them. Regarding hearing aids there are places on the web to buy them. My best friend has some and they work well and were much less expensive. I really don't think there is any reason to be concerned about not getting Social Security checks as there is plenty of money coming in a month to pay the interest of the natioinal debt, pay SS and other expenses. This is simply a scare tactic that our ruler has used to try to gain political advantage.
I have saved the eyeglasses website in my Favorites. Thanks!
Yes, I'm looking forward to going to "test the waters," Etta Sue.
About jobs, this situation is becoming more difficult every day for those who are unemployed. I experienced a time of extended unemployment, but managed to find little part-time jobs, and really cut expenses to the bone. No electricity used except the fridge and my washing machine. I learned to love the peace of sitting in my living room as the darkness fell - to me, it seemed that God was putting my area to sleep gently and lovingly. And, I didn't use heat for those 2 winters. Yes, it was very cold, but I just trusted God to keep me safe, and tithed on any income I could scrape up. The grocery "going out of date soon" markdowns helped keep the costs low. And, when a full time job was offered (at half the pay I had been making before so many of us were laid off), I gladly took it and praised God for His faithfulness. That was a time when I felt like one of his little sparrows that had fallen, but the Bible tells us that even one so little and insignificant still receives God's attention.
Well, I think I've written too much, but these memories make me love my favorite scripture even more YES, He grants us a new day every morning, and He will be faithful to us, as we walk in His light of that new day.
Love to all,
Ruth Ann
I am back to try again, was here earlier and wrote a long post, but lost it. My computer seems to be having little fits. Grrr.... >:(
I had told you about how blessed I was to get a nice phone call last night from daughter Diane. She was telling me about Mark and Abby, who have spent the week at a Champions for Christ Youth Camp in Branson, Mo. They are both being blessed and refreshed in the Lord. This is Chip Brim's ministry. He used to be a coach and trained champions on the ball field, until God called him to train champions for Him. He was in Hugoton this Spring and I got to hear him. Some of you may be familiar with his mother, Billie Brim.
Anyway........they had a Talent Show, for which Abby had prepared a praise dance. She must have done a wonderful job, because her mom got THREE calls about how good she was! They said the anointing was so strong everyone in the building felt it, and that Abby received a standing ovation!! This was one of only two standing ovations for the show; and the other was for the girl who is usually her dance partner (If you can call it that in ballet!). Mariah did a dance using about 30 Hula hoops, which was another hit. Their pastor said, "Hugoton just blew them away!"
The other big blessing: Chip is believing for an airplane for his ministry and Mark is standing in faith for a job. So Mark went up and told Chip, "WHEN you get that airplane, I will be your pilot!" I pray those were prophetic words! I am just blessed to my toenails to see both of them growing in faith and in their walk with the Lord!!! :) :) :) 8) 8) 8)
Now I hope I can post this without it going off into cyberspace! Computer froze before, wouldn't go back or anything.....
It worked!! Thank you, God!
What exciting news Janet!
WOW Janet! I think I see you floating in the clouds!
Ruth Ann: Your story about the time you were unemployed or underemployed is a true test of faith. Others who are experiencing same should hear your testimony about surviving those grim times and it would give them hope a reason to stay faithful.
We spent some time checking out a house our youngest son just bought & the inspector was there as well. It has acreage - view & is a 1970 house with high ceilings. the kids are thrilled & everything is in great shape but some odd things they will work on. Then, we stopped at two thrift stores on the way home and a veggie health store (corn looks crispy and nice). Baking bread, washing & ironing, doing dishes & someone left a Kleenex in the wash ( I tend to keep fresh ones in my pockets so that was my fault). Fresh zucchini tonight with the corn & hamburgers with blue cheese.
Hi, friends,
I'm on my other computer, kinda checking it out plus I downloaded 3 audio books for use while driving to and from my granddaughter's birthday weekend. :)
Y'all have a wonderful rest of the day with our Lord.
Ruth Ann
Janet you must be so excited. I know I would be.
Here is the set I just finished for Jackson

Cute, Marilyn ... nice work!
I just heard from my granddaughter Candice ... she has picked up her sister Becky and they are together in Lancaster, California. I am soooo relieved! This has been an ongoing saga of high drama and turmoil for well over a month. :)
Praise the Lord, Jane!
Amen and amen!! And to Marilyn, nice work! I do not crochet, nor do I knit. But I can paint! ;) (Can't really see a baby wearing a canvas, though...... ;) ;))
The youth are to share about their camp on Sunday night, and they have also asked Abby and Mariah to do their dances for the church, so guess what Grams' plans are for Sunday evening?? :D :D :D
Yup .. Janet ... "I can only imagine" what your plans are
Thank you Thank.
Whew Jane I know you are so relieved.
Jane I was thinking about her and praying all day yesterday!

So many blessings from God on CP. Thank you, God.
Good work, Marilyn! I know you are thrilled that they are done. And making two booties the same is a challenge!
It looks cloudy out so far today. And I am going to swim rehab, then find a bite to eat, then Walmart and Lowe's. Will be glad when I am back home and in the cool house.
I didn't see or hear from Ivalou all day yesterday. I think she went somewhere with Marge but not sure. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Etta Sue, thank you for the encouragement to not give up on the progressive lenses during the adjustment period. I am sure I will recall your words often! They tell me my new glasses should be here in about two weeks!! :)
I went out and walked about a mile and a half this morning. We had a little more rain, and it is nice and cool, with a pleasant breeze, and I see the pastures are greening up! God is truly good.....all the time!
When Pat gets home from her rehab, I will go to her house for her to do my hair. Don't have any have-tos today, but plenty of should-dos! (That never seems to change.)
Hi everyone. Just back from coffee. A friend gave me an old computer and a flat screen small monitor that he no longer needed. I have now set the monitor up in my office as a second monitor. I had used one for a long time but had decided not to replace it when it failed. I am now using both monitor so can have the posting box open for CP as I read the postings on the big monitor. It works great and am glad to have it back. The old computer has a working DVD/CD Rom in it and will put that in my computer to replace the one that failed.
Today will be busy as have a ROMEO's luncheon at 11:30 at Macaroni Grill and then we play Mexican Train with two other couples at one of the couples home and then will eat out again this evening.
Ruth Ann, certainly you didn't write too much and you are an inspiration. Your story is probably being lived by many people today. I feel so blessed to have a retirement income and at least know that my children won't go hungry. Your granddaughter must live a long ways away as it takes hours to listen to most audiobooks. My wife listens to them all the time.
Janet, not familiar with the ministry you spoke about. Good for Abby and her friend as they both are using their talents to praise the Lord. Mark sounds like a fine young man.
Carol, sounds like a nice property your son purchased. We have had some really good sweet corn this year and hope your is very tasty.
Marilyn, your set looks like it would be very warm. Nice work. What are the three things on top? Seeing Etta Sue's comment I know these are booties and is the other a cap? (Just a guess.)
Jane, good news and now you can relax.
Yes Larry those are a pr of booties and a cap.
I need to ask y'all to pray for Forest, this is Gilbert's boy, he fell and broke his collar bone somehow, I don't have the details yet. I saw the note of Facebook this morning.
Sorry to hear that, Marilyn. I sure know about falling and broken clavicles ::) Been there, done that!
The only broken bone I've had was my wrist. But I had an uncle who fell out of a tree and broke a collar bone. Then when it was all healed a friend asked him how it happened and he said "Like this" and proceeded to climb back into the tree and fall out, breaking the other collar bone. ;D
If ya'all don't mind, I prefer not doing it at all.
Today is laundry day up at the little laundry room we have in this mob. park. Pray that social security isn't interrupted this next week. Pray that congress/president get done what they NEED to get done (for a change).
Pray for Israel! Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! Pray that our president will either CHANGE or BE REMOVED! So very many prayer needs, we should all pray without ceasing.
My daughter Kerri has sold her lovely home and bought a condo in town. She has been under tremendous stress for months, prayers for her would be greatly appreciated. Her husband got an "emergency" divorce! I didn't even know such a thing existed... :idiot:
But it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, as Mr. Rogers would say! I walked in the cool of the morning and enjoyed another lovely sunrise. God is still on His throne, and He knows the end from the beginning, and will bring all things to the conclusion He planned before the creation of the world. I'm very thankful for that, as my little finite mind cannot begin to unravel all the problems we are facing at this time in our history!
Hi everyone. Not much to write about today other than the hot weather, which I guess most of us are experiencing. It is going to be another very hot day today. We had an enjoyable afternoon yesterday playing a game with friends and then going to Appleby's for a good meal. However, Pat and I were both very tired when we got home and I am feeling exhausted today so plan to stay in and take it easy.
Marilyn, sorry to hear of Forest breaking his collar bone. However, don't think that is too unusual for active boys and sure he will heal quickly.
Jeanne, I hope your uncle learned a lesson. What could he have been thinking to purposely fall out of the tree. His parents must have been beside themselves.
Al, I also hope there is no interruption in the Social Security payments. Our daughter expects to get her first check next week. Pat doesn't get hers until the second Wednesday in the month. I get paid on the first for my retirement so hope that won't be affected. It is a wonder anything works with the chaos in Government. I watched a video this morning of a hearing with the oil executives and Maxine Waters stated outright that it was her goal to see the government take over and run the oil companies. Now wouldn't that be a mess.
Janet, I never heard of an emergency divorce either. I was shocked to read that only a few days after mentioning it was pending that it was over. Maybe things will be less stressful for Kerri in the months ahead as some of the chaos is removed from her life and she gets settled in her new place. (I don't think I ever used the word chaos in one posting before. Guess it is a sign of the times.)
I spoke with Forest yesterday and he said he was at a friends house and they were playing in the Slip and Slide. He was running and he friend was behind hime he slipped and fell on his shoulder breaking his clavicle.
A Slip and Slide is a long plastic thing that is laid our on the lawn a hose is attached and the water covers the plastic the kids slide on it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slip_%27n_Slide (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slip_%27n_Slide)
Yes, Larry, I think the word chaos applies in a number of areas today!
AL: Prayers for the continuation of SS. I have sheets drying on a frame outdoors & they dry in minutes here.
Marilyn: Sorry for Forests pain from his accident. Also, you made a lovely blanket! It has beautiful colors.
Janet: Hugs to you & daughter Kerri as well.

I am very late in posting today. First of all, Tony came and worked on my dryer. Seems the vent hose wasn't stopped up but glad I tried it when he got it all put back together. It didn't turn on. When he first took the back off, he asked why two wires were just hanging there...like I would know...ha! My only answer was maybe if my dryer had a buzzer to tell you it was done, they would be hooked up. So after it didn't work, he pulled out the dryer again. Un-fastened the hose again. And took off the back again. He put these two wires on something and I turned it on and it worked!! So he buttoned everything back up and all is fine. Why these two wires came off when he removed the back is beyond both of us!!
But now I am thinking that I need to run the spin cycle on the washer a tad longer to get more moisture out of the clothes before putting them in the dryer!
Tony couldn't get my outside umbrella clothesline out of the ground so I guess I have to use it the way it is or use the inside dryer!
Then I showed him the zennioptical.com website. He is wanting new glasses that are transitions so he had me email him the website! He can get a free exam at WalMart.
Then I almost had to tell Tony he had to go so I could get changed for the Bridal Shower that Ivalou and I were invited to attend. We went to the shower and a good time was had by all. The wedding is to be in Michigan and now Ivalou and I are thinking about going to the wedding...mainly for a mini-vacation than the wedding!! It is Sept 3rd...Labor Day weekend.
Now I am home for the rest of the day. Hot, hazy and humid! H3. ---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@

What's going on? No posts since I posted yesterday. Come on now....
Hi everyone. An overcast beginning of the day with a 50% chance of rain. I had a wasted day yesterday as spend most of the day and evening laying down as had one of the weariness spells I sometimes have. I hoped it was over this morning and got ready for church but have decided I need to rest again today as the weariness has returned.
Etta Sue, it does seem that most folks must be busy or away. Glad you got your dryer fixed. Maybe the wires hanging down were a big part of the problem. Hope you and Ivalou can make the trip to Michigan for the wedding and mini-vacation.
Good Morning from Oregon, Not much going on here, we will go to Walmart to get cat food, TP and eggs sometime today. I made Spinach Quiche for brunch yesterday that was sure good. I worked on another page for my website yesterday I will probably finish it today as another html class starts tomorrow on forms. I also bathed both dogs on Friday. happy has a vet appointment on Tuesday and I go back to the podiatrist on Wednesday. I looking forward to meeting up with Pat and Paul the end of next month when they will be in Oregon.
Time to end the month and start a new week. CLICK HERE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=11893.msg165351#msg165351)
