Morning Devotional...
Daily Life in the Early Church
Acts 2:41-3:11 NLT
Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.
All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer.
A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o'clock prayer service. As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money.
Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, "Look at us!" The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. But Peter said, "I don't have any silver or gold for you. But I'll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!"
Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man's feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them.
All the people saw him walking and heard him praising God. When they realized he was the lame beggar they had seen so often at the Beautiful Gate, they were absolutely astounded! They all rushed out in amazement to Solomon's Colonnade, where the man was holding tightly to Peter and John.

The lame beggar asked for money, but Peter gave him something much better--the use of his legs.
We often ask God to solve a small problem, but he wants to give us a new life and help for all our problems. When we ask God for help, he may say, "I've got something even better for you."
Ask God for what you want, but don't be surprised when he gives you what you really need.

Thanks,
Etta Sue. I love it when my Father "surprises" me! I have lived by the verses in Matthew 6:31-34 for some time, now. He knows what I
need, and will see that I have what I
need at just the right time when I need it! If I don't have something I think I need/want then I believe it's because I don't need it today ... ;)
We need to trust Him with our life! He truly wants to, and will, "give us new life and help for ALL our problems."
I've been having trouble getting in here, also, but I know that this is also a worry for Pat and will just be patient while those who have so much more savvy work on the problem. I so appreciate all the work and attention they devote to this site.
Thanks Etta Sue and Jane. Needed message for me today.
Thankfully I had no problem getting on or navigating the site.
John's meals are about ready. Decided to go the easy route. Stew for dinners for him. Everything but the kitchen sink in it.
Have a great day everyone.
We need to remember, also, that God always hears and answers our prayers. The times when it may seem to some that He hasn't listened or answered are the times when He's simply saying "No, that's not what I want for you" or "Wait! I'll give you what you need, in due time."
Hello! I am home again! I had such a wonderful, refreshing week, painting with good friends. I got four paintings done and made some corrections on three others that I took for Glenn to critique. And when I relearn how to post, I will even let you see them!
We had church outdoors this morning, at a park by the swimming pool. Then we went inside and had baptismal services, where 17 people were baptized! Praise the Lord!
I am really missing my "kids." Maybe I will drive over to Hugoton and see them; haven't seen them for what seems to me a very long time.
Pat--Happy belated birthday!! You are OLDER than me!!
I have read an entire week's worth of posts, and am about to fall asleep here. Not because they aren't interesting, but because when I sit, I get sleepy. It's always fun to chat with all of you like this.
And I haven't been able to get email notifications since we changed servers. I sure miss those.
Sometimes His "wait" is days, weeks, years, or even decades..... I know how frustrating that can be.
Janet disable notifications then re-enable them. That worked for me.
Hello this cloudy and very sunny for a short time the Lords Day
Marilyn: I had a nephew attack me via my bother-in- laws facebook he was so very wrong, I did respond to what was being said but things would not change, I removed them from my face book but with this being your son it is hard to do and I do feel that I would not do the delete had it been my son, but I do feel if it was pulling me down then yes I would remove him from facebook. I am praying for him and that you have the strength to be strong.
About CP being slow downloading. I had heard on the radio that they are running short on web sites just the same as the phone's and area codes.
In approx an hr. we will be headed out for dinner we are going to a new buffet rest. the old one closed so now this is the same location with a new name.
Ruth
I thought it was going to be a beautiful day, but the sun never did come out and it started to rain a little bit as I was out walking with Happy.
We were going to BBQ tonight but I ended up broiling the chicken instead. I first marinated it in Italian dressing. It sure was good. I have to keep coming up with more ways to cook chicken, I have found some good recipes on the Crestor.com (http://crestor.com)website.
Thanks Etta Sue for the devotional. Good one for me.
I am here in VA at the house. Going to Guelph on Thurs.
Hi everyone. IT is going to be another hot day here in Georgia, so what is new! We did experience a brief period of heavy wind and one sheet of rain while we were at the church last evening for the meeting. It didn't appear that a drop had fallen here at our house.
Just he usual Monday activities on tap for today plus a quick trip to Kohl's this morning for the skillets I talked about last week. Both of the coupons are good this morning so will bring the price down to about half the stated price.
Etta Sue, thanks for the fine devotional. I was thinking as I read it that the slowness of the server is teaching us patience.
Janet, glad to see you are home and that you had such a good time. It sounds like it was a time for decompression after the stress of the past months. Hope you will be able to post pictures of your painting as I always enjoy viewing them.
Bright and sunny, but ch-ch-chilly. :)
The wheels here this morning seem to have been dipped in molasses - at times it almost seems like it might be super glue. But eventually I get where I'm going. :D

Today is to be a busy day...even to my standards. First take trash, then fill up the car with gas. Then rehab. After that a bite to eat. Then swim at the Monon Center. Home. Shower. Go to Kitty's and a bite to eat and Photo Guild is tonight. Whew!
But the sun is shining and all is well.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Yesterday and today I have received 7 notices from CP regarding the photo challenge voting. Has that happened to anyone else.
Not much going on here today, I will probably go have my nails done sometime today. It is misting out so if that turns into rain the dogs wont get their walks. I can handle the mist. even a lite rain, I just dry the dogs when we get back home.
I am going to Joann's today to get that Baby Bootie Book and also a skein of Sugar and Cream yarn so I can learn how to knit the dishcloths. I am working on a Baby Afghan for my DIL, and will add a hat and booties to match the Afghan.
not to busy of a day planned for me.... about to get ready for work and then work til five while papa watches ruthie since my normal babysitter is sick today.... then maybe ruth and I will be able to climb into the pool we set up yesterday as with the high heat today we should have it plenty warm. Supposed to get up to 105 degrees F today :S..... glad I work indoors at the elevator lol... air conditioning will be so nice today... anyways I have read all your posts but do not have time to respond have a good day
Sarah
Cold here too Jeanne. Below 68.
Day in town, John's license renewed, and his health card. A lot of other things done as well. It has been a busy day. We picked up 2 finches from one of our daughter's. I will try to take pictures of them.
That's about it for news.
I am so upset, I got bad news about two of my dear friends today. One is bleeding internally and we don't know the cause yet, she is seeing a specialist in a few minutes. Another went to the hospital to have a hernia removed, they removed a lymph node that is full of cancer. I was going to do some creating today but I just am not in the mood do to do much of anything right now, I think I will take the dogs for a walk and pray while I am walking, That always makes me feel better.
Marilyn, it is so hard to get that kind of news. :( I will be praying for you and both of your friends.
Thank you Jeanne, it is getting harder as we age, so many of our friends seem to be getting very ill and or passing on. It sure does hurt to lose your friends.
I was unable to post earlier in the day.
We watched a B-17 fly over yesterday as they had special rides. There were only 15 able to fly and now it is 14 because one crashed in Illinois today. They sound so different with a throbbing sound not smooth at all like a whiney jet. We love planes & rides - Don was in pilot training when his parents died on one day & he dropped out of training. I love to listen to the engines and try to distinguish what plane is overhead by the sound. (I know - kinda different).
Spotted a coyote in back today and they have not been around for at least a year or more. There are a million rabbits in the area so they all must be hiding.
Etta Sue: Thanks for devotions. I especially needed the quote from Billy Graham
We can be certain that God
will give us the strength and
resources we need to live
through any situation in life
that he ordains.
The will of God will never take us
where the grace of God
cannot sustain us.
Pat Have a safe trip up north and don't forget the connections - ^-^
Marilyn, I was thinking along those same lines yesterday. One of Darrel's classmates died , and I got word one of my dear painting friends is dying of liver cancer. I told Mom near the end that she now has more loved ones and friends on the other side than here.
I went to my chiropractor this morning, then to the medical doctor. I got a spider bite on the back of my leg just above the bend of my knee last Thursday while in Fowler, and it has a purple spot about the size of a half-dollar, with a six inch ring of bruising around that. Dr. Saxon looked at it with a light and magnifier, said he was 99% sure it was a spider bite; he could see two little punctures from the fangs. He said, "I wouldn't ignore that." So I went to the doctor, who agreed, and gave me antibiotics. It is still itching, but I didn't go get the Benadryl she said I could take for that.
This afternoon I got some work done in my studio, framing, etc. I hope I sleep well tonight, those sleepless nights get pretty old after a while.
Beth is really excited, as John is to arrive on Friday evening. She and I, along with her friend Mindi, will go pick him up in Garden City. I'm sure their time together will go by all too quickly.
Have a blessed evening!
Hi, friends, it's been a busy "take care of business" type of day. First a 9:30 am appt with the doctor (who finally got around to seeing his ravenously hungry and very thirsty patient at 11:30). Good news - I'm a few pounds lighter. :) And, learned I've un-grown another inch. So, now, I've gone from a top height of 5'6" down to 5'2 1/2". So, a bone density scan is scheduled next week. Oh, well, more wiggle room in my bed. :)
Changed to a pharmacy that delivers directly to my door. Wow! that will help with the cost of ga$oline.
And ended up by dealing with a short-term tummy virus. Ick! I hope to be able to sleep tonight.
First time ever, I'm presenting a brief talk to those at the Tuesday morning devotions downstairs tomorrow. So, am trusting our Lord to put the words I should say right into my mouth.
Marilyn, I'm not very active at all on Facebook, so haven't seen the problems you had. But, we ALL know that our own relatives are those whose comments hurt us the worst at times. I've certainly been there! Will pray for that relationship to resolve itself.
Etta Sue, thanks for the great devotional reading tonight.
May our Lord reign in each of our hearts is my prayer tonight.
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone on this Tuesday morning. Looking forward to a nice day today with a little less on the schedule than yesterday. It seemed like I was on the go all day yesterday but had a very nice day. Other than attend a meeting nothing else pressing on the agenda. We do need to shop for a new TV as don't think our old one is safe to use anymore.
Jeanne, sure hope the glue lessened for you as the day went on yesterday. :)
Etta Sue, it sounds like your calendar was as full as mine yesterday.
Marilyn, I only got one notice of the voting. So sorry that your friends have these new health problems. I agree with you on losing friends. I also experience that with the coffee group and church group we associate with the most. It is hard to when our friends become ill or pass on.
Carol, I don't think I have ever seen a B-17 except in a picture. I can't imagine losing both of my parents in one day. It was hard enough about 18 months apart.
Janet, so nice to read that John is coming for another visit with Beth. I expect the hours will be long for her this week in anticipation. Glad your spider bite was a brown recluse. Hope the itching is better and certainly not something to ignore.
Ruth Ann, I have also lost height as used to be 5'11" and the last time I was measured it was 5'8" and I asked them to redo the measurement.
Time to leave for coffee and to get the rest of my day underway.
Sarah, do you still do the EMT work? You all are much hotter than we are here in Georgia.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FGirlandtwoKittens.gif&hash=2ed2cf7d8c706c251e530828a145d08b4cfb7c43)
I want to thank all of you for thanking me for the devotion this week. I love this book of devotions. I think mostly it is many verses with a paragraph of ways to apply to your life today instead of one verse and several paragraphs of application. If any of you are interested in the book, it can be purchased from www.amazon.com. Look for 'The Best of the Bible' published by Tyndale. I saw some there barely used for a little bit of nothing. There are 365 stories so one for each day of the year.
Please...please say a prayer for Lauren. Lauren is my g-niece that at the age of 21 had a double mastectomy, chemo, a blood clot in her leg, on coumadin, had reconstructive surgery, infection on her leg where they took skin to graft and finally a full time job with benefits. She went to her oncologist yesterday and he mentioned the 'C' word again. She is to have a biopsy next Wednesday. I don't know where this is in her body but please pray that this biopsy comes out benign. She is such a lovely girl, with a great heart and has gone through so much. A benign diagnosis would be great for her 23rd birthday, July 9th.
I got done all that I set out to do yesterday and ended up with a sore body and so tired. I don't know why but when walking to the Monon entrance from the parking lot, my left ankle got very painful and I thought I was going down. I hobbled into the lobby and sat in one of the chairs awhile while moving my foot around in circles. I got up and it was better. After swimming I didn't feel I had had the problem. This morning, my ankle is a little ouchy but okay. Never had that problem before!
And Marilyn...I have knitted dozens of those dish clothes. I am sure you have a pattern but here is mine. It is a Granny Dishcloth and here is the Basic Pattern. (http://majorknitter.typepad.com/photos/patterns/dishrag_and_magazine_photo.html) I knit two rows after the cast on and go to 42 stitches across. Then when I get to 4 stitches, I knit two rows again and bind off. Marilyn, if yours comes out square and doesn't look like a kite, I will be jealous! Mine are mostly kite shaped! AND if I make a mistake, it stays there. I don't know how to correct them and it isn't easy to rip out knitting to where the mistake is and continue on! Good luck!
Well, it is sunny and I plan to mow today. It is cool...still below 70 degrees.
Does anyone have any ideas for bake sale items...that the sale is outside in the heat? I am running out of ideas.
So far CP is speedy today. Now to post.(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FDailys%2F%253Cbr%2520%2F%253ELeot2.gif&hash=de7bf7da486469a7d752f4a3d732e28b4bf9b31c)
Etta Sue thank you for the pattern I didn't have one just a verbal pattern from someone. At least I won't have to remember what she said now i have it right in front of me.
I am praying for Lauren as I type this. It will be benign.
I have received my first lesson in HTML today and need to start another website for the lessons, so I better get busy.
Marilyn, sorry you got so many notifications. We're having trouble right now with this feature. :(
Etta Sue, that's the pattern I use and it's so fast to knit! My kids love them.
About those dish cloths---who cares if it has mistakes or is kite-shaped? It's a dishrag, for goodness sake! ;) My friend in Alaska gave me some once, and I really enjoyed them, until they wore out!
Judy, I have tried disabling and then re-enabling notifications, didn't work for me. But thank you for the advice. :)
Ruth Ann, I pray you feel better and better each day. And I'm sure you will do a great job when speaking to your group.
Etta Sue, I will pray for Lauren. I hope that was a mistake and that the test is benign. She's had enough trouble already, and has her whole life to live. I'm so glad we serve a healing God!
Larry, I have no idea what kind of spider bit me, since I didn't see it, but surely hope it wasn't the brown recluse. Those can do major damage!
Pat, how often do you have to make the trip from Va. to Guelph? It seems you are on the road a lot!
Today has been pretty busy for me: Up early to pray and read my Bible; dental appointment at 8:30 for comprehensive exam and cleaning, out barely in time to make the funeral for Darrel's classmate at 10:00, ( was five minutes late!) From there, I went to exercise class, then to lunch at Senior Center; then to visit Beth. MAY have gotten some problems ironed out there, at least the DON is aware of them now. And now I am home catching up in here, and putting corners of frames in the vise as quickly as the previous one dries! I will go cut the glass for them as soon as I get finished here.
I have started writing my next book! Might as well keep my fingers busy while I wait for the production to start on the other one! I really never thought I would write one book, much less two! But, why not? When we have lived as many years as most of us here, we have learned something about a lot of things!
Time to put another corner in the vise. See you later.
Janet, I got out of breath just reading about your day!

Happy Birthday Jeanne! :hb3: :hb2: :hb2: :hb2:
Etta Sue: Bless Lauren and may she begin healing completely.
Larry: My parents passed 28 days apart - dad in Seattle and then my mother was in an Alzheimer's unit in Minnesota. Lots of reasons for that and she did want to return to her little town so we did what she asked.
Don's parents were quite young and I never met them - she had pancreatic cancer and had gone into a coma when his dad had a heart attack after having a great checkup at his doctors. There were hundreds at that funeral.
Janet: John is visiting once more - that is just great news for Beth.
Well, a son-in-law was supposed to hear today if he got a new job & there is no news. He has a terrible job now so this is all wrong and we all have been praying about it.
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday Dear Jeanne
Happy Birthday to you
Kassie had another xray on her ankle. Woohoo it has healled.
This has been a long day. I am heading to bed early tonight perhaps I will sleep and if not I have a good book to read. A John Grisham!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEANNE!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3
I am sorry to be so late :'(
Many thanks to all for the birthday wishes. <3
My day wound up with looooong conversations with my kids, which was just the perfect ending.
Oh, that's so nice Jeanne to have some great chats with the kids!!!
Now, jeanne, as you embark on this next year, toward another birthday, could you see if you can do it withoutl anly aging. And, then, if you succeed, let us all know how. May your year be blessed!
JEANNE, PLEASE ACCEPT MY BELATED WISHES FOR A WONDERFUL YEAR!!
Augghhhh! I hate those updates on the computer! They play havoc with things! When I got home from Fowler, Darrel said he had downloaded some of them, and I couldn't even figure out how to get to my inbox, nor here....everything was changed! And the machine is slow as molasses besides. If I can figure out (again) how to do a system restore, I think I will do that and see if it helps.
LARRY, please warn me if that is not a good idea! (Save me from myself!)
Not quite such a busy day today, but I'm sure there will prove to be plenty to do!
June seems to be a good month for CP birthdays!!
Thanks, folks for the birthday greetings.
Al, I don't know about you, but I'm like good cheese and fine wine - I'm improving with age! (At least that's what I tell myself). ;D
Janet, I'm glad you finally found out how to get here, in spite of the "upgrades". When I was young (many, many years ago) I thought I was really lucky, with my birthday just 1/2 year from Christmas so the year was split evenly. :D
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FBelatedHappyBirthday2.gif&hash=19458bd92883542403f272fac49c00dc6a972605)
Ha! Janet! I totally agree about the mistakes in dish rags! That's what I think when I have made a mistake...is who cares? But...in my crocheting and knitting I tend to be a perfectionist! I want it right. I did make one last night exactly as the Basic Pattern and it is square!! Hurray!!
Lauren's mother called Ivalou last evening...Ivalou's daughter...and said that Lauren had gone to her gynecologist and was told the lining of her uterus was thickening...a sign of cancer. Last winter a doctor wanted Lauren to have a hysterectomy since after breast cancer it is somewhat common for the cancer to return in the reproductive organs. But Lauren said NO! Not until I need it!
To make a long story short...Lauren is back with her old boy friend. He lost is brother to suicide last month and left three small children. His ex was not in the picture but has the children now. Lauren was telling us when we were there the first of June that she loves those little kids as if they were her own and she and Chad were already talking about adopting them...or at least, guardianship of them. They need to get married first but God does answer prayers. Lauren said on Facebook that God doesn't give me more than I can handle.
Today it is so dark out I have on the house lights. Raining. Thunder! And today is rehab at 12:30pm. Ivalou is to drive. I hope she is comfortable driving in the rain. I will ask...don't want her to do anything she isn't comfortable about.
Then we plan to go to Kroger to purchase items we signed up for for VBS. ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FDailys%2F%253Cbr%2520%2F%253ESwct.gif&hash=47744720c9eef84ce4c909885ccea46f0549b518)
Hi, friends, I'm in the apt. today, since we're having an extremely noisy thunderstorm right now - AND, the new pharmacy knocked on my door & delivered a prescription. They do it for free, and don't allow customers to tip. This should save me TONS of gasoline money. :)
Now, it's apartment clean up time - I didn't feel great Monday afternoon, so went to bed at 6 pm after lying on the couch lots of the afternoon.
Then, yesterday was one of Janet's or Etta Sue's whirlwinds. First I was asked to both sing and then speak at our devotions downstairs. So I sang the song "Bless the Lord, Oh, My Soul" and then read and commented on Psalms 103, one of my favorite Bible chapters.
Next was a hurried lunch standing in my kitchen, then off to have the car air conditioning checked out - then, thanks to Judy mentioning Freecycle.org a long time ago, I picked up literally a car load of gorgeous fabrics from a young lady who is moving - then on to the grocery to where I bought the components of a baked potato bar for our seniors Bible study bring-in dinner last night. Finally, on to church to scrub & bake those potatoes, prepare the bowlsfull of condiments, etc. Soooooo, after that, I was glad to find a chair, drink a diet soda, eat 2-3 crackers, and rest a while.
After our meal, we studied such a great chapter in the Bible - the faith chapter (Hebrews 11). Imagine sitting with dear friends listening to our wonderful theologian and former dept chairman at Trevecca University, Dr. John Dix, as he read and gave side comments. He's an 88 year old dear saint of God, and what a privilege to take my dry sponge to the Bible studies and sit under his teachings.
So, 10 pm found me unloading my car, putting the items in the fridge, and sinking in bed.
It's wonderful to have the strength to do these things, though, and I continually thank our God for His strengthening and encouraging presence.
May we pray without ceasing and in all circumstances bless His holy name.
Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann I am tired after shopping today!! I certainly don't have your energy!!
Kassie is working tonight so I have the evening alone.
Have a great day folks!
Hi everyone. This has been a very busy day. Went directly from coffee this morning to the church for Bible Study, then for the social hour at the donut shop and then the ROMEO's met at 12:30 at the cafe next to the donut shop. We had 8 men there today and had a very fine time of fellowship and a wonderful discussion on the subject that our church is struggling with. It was a reasoned discussion with no one trying to be dominate but just sharing of thoughts and concerns. We tarried quite awhile to have this discussion and it was 2 pm before I got home. Tonight is choir.
Yesterday afternoon Pat and went to Wal-Mart and purchased a new TV for our bedroom as had become afraid to use the one we had for fear that there was an electrical short in it. We brought it home and after dinner I set it up, called Dish Network for help, and thought I was in good shape until I found I could only turn it on and off and not change the one channel playing. So now am going through the setup, which I should have done last night and hope this will take care of the problem.
Etta Sue, so sorry to learn that Lauren may once again be fighting the big "c" and at such a young age. I pray that the test comes back negative. There are so many people fighting this terrible disease. One of the men at lunch today starts radiation tomorrow for thymus cancer. Aren't cookies always good at a bake sale?
Marilyn, hope you enjoy learning to do HTML. I don't use it much anymore as have a program that does the coding for me but still remember most of the basics that I learned.
Janet, hope your writing for your second book goes as well as for the first. You may have discovered a hidden talent and it is never to late to start something new as long as we are healthy and able.
Jeanne, I agree with being out of breath after reading Etta Sue's schedule. That is the way I have felt the last three days but think I can have a quiet day tomorrow and again on Friday although life often interferes with this advance plans. Happy Birthday to you.
Carol, thanks for the info on your and Don's parents. That must have been a very hard time for you both.
Janet, system restore is a good tool and I fall back on it on occasion. As far as I know it won't hurt anything. You may have to redownload some of the updates again but maybe they will work better the next time.
Ruth Ann, I hope some of that rain moves down our way as we are very dry.
Judy, hope you enjoyed the John Grisham book. I have enjoyed his books over the years.
Larry I use HTML kit to create my stationery and to check the coding for my website that is done on notepad first. the webpages come pre-coded and I just have to fill things in where they should be. the HTML kit does most of the coding for me and this class recommends using an html program., but they tell us to type in the coding, So I start to type in <a space and html kit types in href><a> </a> So all I have to add is the link and what it is.
Etta Sue I have a shawl/scarf on my circular needles I had it on straight needles and kept dropping stitches so I put it on the circular; however it has a few holes in it where the dropped stitches are, I just said "So What I'm gonna be the only one wearing it." If I was going to give it away I too would have been a perfectionist with it. I am a perfectionist with my crocheting.
Ruth Ann you made me tired reading about your day. I am the one with the busy days usually, I am trying to slow down and not do anything today that I can put off until tomorrow. I want to enjoy the life that I have left and not rush through my days anymore, I get things done that need to be done, But I'm not in a hurry to do them, taking my time behooves my age.
LArry this is his original book.....the first one he wrote and he has re-worked it. I am enjoying the changes.
Kassie is at work till 8:00 and I will pick her up then. I am thinking of grabbing her swim suit and letting her cool off with a swim. She has dealt with a lot of stress this week, and exams start Tuesday. I can't wait for this to be over. The counsellor at school is working out a co-op placement at the convenience store she works at and with it she will get 2 credits, depending on the number of hours worked. This is good experience for her, even though she is not in love with the job. Hopefully next summer she will have her drivers license and will be able to work in North Bay.
The change in temperature has taken the wind out of me. Up to Monday it was cold (68* was the hige all weekend) to 86* in the shade tonight. I love the heat but wish the change was more gradual!
If you check Google Maps look up Blind River Ontario. There was a serious accident there last night at 10:30. The road was closed and didn't re-open till 1:30 this afternoon. John didn't hear about this till he was caught in the hold up. What a waste of time for the truckers out there. They only make money when the wheels are turning. Unfortunately there are no detours that are truck accessable. There is one possible detour for cars but there is a bridge and the clearance is too low for trucks. This is the second time in as many weeks that the road has been closed.
Kass and I had an interesting experience yesterday afternoon. We were on the highway and I saw what I thought was a dog run across the road. Traffic stopped then moved on slowly, when I took a second look there was a huge mama deer crossing behind her fawn. What I don't see when I leave my camera home!! Then closer to home on the road we use all the time, we came across a cart bwing pulled by 2 horces and 2 horces following (attached) behind. I did race home a get the camera and got a few pictures of them. They were going to a neighbours farm, so Kass asked for a ride on the cart. Yes at some point I will post them!
Well I am off, Be back later. <3
Well, I'm having trouble sleeping tonight - 3 situations I'm praying about:
- A friend in ICU with cancer
- A cousin in another hospital ICU on ventilator and very critical
- Another friend's father has sepsis and is dying.
So, I believe I'll shut down for a few hours, and spend as much of my awake time praying.
G'nite, friends.
Ruth Ann

Thanks for the prayers for Lauren. Just know I pray for all your concerns, too.
Whew! Jen, the rehab therapist, kicked my hindside yesterday! I was stiff and sore last evening. Jen is Ivalou's therapist and if she works Ivalou as much as me, I don't know how Ivalou does it. She is in therapy an hour...me, a half hour!
Then last evening was a meeting for VBS. It is coming together.
Yesterday I went to Walmart and decided to look at external speakers for my Droid. I take my Bose to Sunday School to 'hear' the Bible verses on Live Bible. But thought if I could find cheaper speakers that are loud enough, I would leave them at church. I purchased a pair, plugged them in and turned on Droid. They are like a whisper. Without the speakers, the Droid is 10 times louder!! I think I will search online and see what I can find. Sure can't afford another set of Bose.
Today is baking day for the Bake Sale. I know cookies are great items but two things in baking that I don't do well....cookies and yeast items. I make cookies great when I am not taking them anywhere but if I plan to take them, the bottoms burn!
That's it, folks!!a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m.

Hi everyone. It has been a good morning after an evening when we got a significant amount of rain. I was driving to choir when I encountered a short hail storm but fortunately my car didn't get any dents.
This morning my friend came over to help me with the new TV. However, I was able to get Dish Network technical help on the phone and the tech solved my problem, which related to one setting I had wrong. So hopefully all is fine and it certainly has a much better picture than the one we were using, which was really old. Nothing else on schedule for today so will enjoy a quiet day. Pat and I plan on going out to eat this evening. We have several coupons for a buy one-get one entree, which is nice.
Judy, nice that Kassie has a summer job. The experience will be good for her and doing something that may not be the thing she really likes is good training about the work world. Did John just have to wait in his truck until the road opened?
Ruth Ann, sorry to learn of your friends and relative in such dire situations and that couldn't sleep.
Etta Sue, sorry the speakers you bought didn't work. The speaker on my android phone isn't very good either so when I put the phone on speaker the quality could be much better. It is good with earphones, which I use when I listen to music on it or a radio program.
Marilyn, thanks for the info on your HTML experience.
We are in Grand Lake at the library and came to the village to buy something to clean wood cabinets - the place is for sale and not one person has gone through. We co-own with one son and he made the decision to sell. Sure will miss our mountain village if it ever sells - real estate is extremely slow here.
I did sleep even though daughter & son-in-law have very scarey news on his work & even her work. Usually, I am just beside myself but am concentrating on the Words of comfort and trying hard to not feel like I should be in control (I never am in control anyway ^-^)
It is a beautiful day - fire danger is very high and there has been so much snow that flooding is a great issue down the hill. Lots of rocks off the side of the road have been falling.
Don wants to take a walk now off to a short trail as with this altitude we will be careful. We will go into the park tonight and look for animals as just before sunset is a good time.
Larry: These new t.v.'s are really strange to operate. I miss the On/Off button on one remote. Turning the radio on is still easy. Yes, it was terribly difficult for me with my parents and their last five years was expensive as I had to fly or drive to two separate places, missing work and so forth. Don had it hardest being a senior in university and then he sold the house & went directly into the Air Force. I wish I could have met his parents and they would have been sweet grandparents to the children but it wasn't in God's plan.
Etta Sue: I still don't understand Droid. Maybe they have a class for teaching new things? Take care.
It is nearing midnight and I should be asleep, but couldn't get to sleep, and remembered that I hadn't been here today. So I will post while it is still Thursday!
I saw a darling little fawn running close to the highway yesterday morning, near the dry riverbed, as I was going to town. I really hoped it wouldn't get on the road and be hit. Didn't see it again, so guess all is well. Not that we need more deer, they are becoming quite a road hazard around here---but the babies are so cute!
I hope I can get some sleep, as I have to drive Beth to Garden tomorrow to pick up John, and it will probably be late when we come home. She is so excited!!
Ruth Ann, that really was a busy day for you! Glad you have the strength and energy to do things you enjoy. You certainly worked long and hard enough, you deserve to enjoy life!
My Alaska friend is in town for a grandson's wedding, and I will get to see her tomorrow for a little bit; really looking forward to that!
Darrel is taking Jeff and Mark to the Fathers' Day banquet at the Senior Center tomorrow night. Should be a nice evening for all of them.
I am yawning, so will go back to bed and try again to fall asleep.......

Larry, I did find some speakers online here (http://www.thepocketsolution.com/PSI-61333/Verizon+Motorola+Droid+Mini+Portable+Speaker+Pod.html). I
t says it is a mini-boom box. Sounds like what I need. I also ordered a wristband holder for when I don't have pockets. Didn't know there were so many accessories for Droid. Marilyn and Pat, you might look and see if there is anything you can't live without, too! Just go to the website above and click on Verizon on the left.
My recipe for Candy Crackers wasn't correct. They use huge cookie sheets. I need three for the amount on the recipe. So I cut the goopy stuff in thirds and will try to make them again some day since I only have one cookie sheet/jelly roll pan. They won't go to waste but they aren't going to the bake sale. The pumpkin bread came out perfect!
Then Kitty called. She wanted to put a YouTube on her DVD for her Class of 1961 50th Reunion. She uses Pro Show Gold as her movie maker. So I got the YouTube converted to a .mov file and moved it to her computer with a flash drive. She didn't know how to put music on it so I helped her with that. By then, I said I was going for a pizza. She rode with me and got a salad and coke...much more will power than me! About two hours after I was back home, Kitty called me. She loaded another song on and hit play and it disappeared...like she closed it out. I have no idea why it did that! She can bring it back up but when she hits 'play' it disappears again! Hope it fixed itself over night. She has put so many hours in this DVD!
Today is swim rehab and I might stop at a golf course to see if we can get a couple of golf and cart fees for our Silent Auction for our Summer Picnic June 26. >^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<

Larry I didn't geet back to you on John being stopped in the truck. Yes he had to stay with the truck. There is no where to pull off. I would imagine knowing him he had the engine shut off, and was just sitting watching the antics of the car drivers.
Today Kassie was at physio. Thankfully there was an opening on the cancellation list that had her in right away. Bill will be working on strengthing and stabilizing her foot. It is interesting watching him work. This is the same therapist that I had.
Another hot day here, I have grass to mow and have hesitated. There was a red light on the mower last mow that was on and off while I was mowing. I thought it was a gas filter problem, but found out today it is an oil pressure problem. I have all new filters and hopefully John can change them on Saturday when he gets home. This should correct the problem.....I hope!
Have other work to do so I am off for now!
Hi everyone.
Been a very busy morning and am exhausted from shopping and being gone all morning. By the time I got to Wal-Mart I had to go from one front entrance to the other to find an electric cart. It felt like a mile of walking. I had already been to coffee, thru the drive-thru at Kroger's for some prescriptions, stopped to get the tire pressure checked and then to Aldi's and finally to Wal-Mart. Looking forward to my afternnoon rest period. Later this afternoon I plan on going next door to visit my neighbor, who is recovering slowly from hip replacement surgery. He is not healing very quickly.
Wee watched our new TV yesterday and my wife watched it this morning and we really like it and the 40" screen is just right as our bedroom is fairly large. I should now be able to read the scores of the games and other things they scroll at the bottom or top of the screen. It also has a great picture and good sound.
Etta Sue, glad you found the speakers you were looking for. I will check out the link you gave. Yesterday I got blue tooth dongle that I had ordered and it was defective. I wrote to the seller on eBay and had a response this morning that he is sending another to replace it. Really good service.
Janet, hope you were able to get some sleep last night and had a good trip to Garden City today.
Carol, it seems that it was just yesterday that you all were building the cabin in the mountains. Hope the job situation for your son and his wife is just a scare and doesn't end with them not having jobs. You are right not to worry about it as you can't do a thing about the situation. Stay in today and don't worry about tomorrow as often tomorrow is nothing like we may have anticipated.
Judy, thanks for the information on John and the traffic stall.
I have had a good day in spite of only about two hours' sleep. Went to Pat's and got my hair done; then to the Civic Center where my friend from Alaska was helping to prepare a rehearsal dinner and had such a nice visit with her, while helping with preparations. Home to get the van, to get Beth; to civic center again so LeAnn could say hi to Beth, to Holcomb where we picked up Mindi, Beth's friend since college; to Garden City, to the Diagnostic Center to pick up Pat's MRI films she needs to take to her doctor in Lubbock; to Walmart for some things. John called to say he was delayed in Denver. We got to the airport and waited about an hour for him. Oh, the joy on both their faces when he came running in!! It was worth every minute! I thank God for allowing those two to meet; they are such a blessing in each other's lives! Then we went to IHOP to eat (we were all really hungry), back to Holcomb to drop off Mindy, back to Ulysses to drop Beth at Care Home, home to bring me, and John went back to the Care home. By that time they had Beth in bed and he has his cot which I dropped off there for him this morning. And now this ol' girl is headed for bed, hoping I can really get some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs.
Janet, I hope you got your sleep last night. ;)
Yesterday we had off-and-on showers, and in between some of them I had a visit from my pastor and then managed to get a couple of errands done. Today promises to be a partly sunny and in the70's so just an ideal June day.
Hi everyone. It is a delightful morning here in Georgia with low humidity and so far very nice temperature. We may get some storms later today in the Atlanta area. After being exhausted yesterday I had a very good night's sleep and feel rested this morning. Just back from coffee and have a meeting to attend in a little bit and that will be it for today.
I visited with my next door neighbor yesterday. He seems to be doing very well from his hip replacement. Still walks with the walker but is walking well. He thinks he will be able to start using the cane by the end of next week after seeing his doctor again. We had a nice visit and I must go over more often and see him now that he isn't spending a majority of his time in bed. I hope in a few weeks he will be able to go to coffee with me at the senior center.
Janet, you really had a full day. Sure hope you are feeling rested today.
Larry, that's really wonderful about your friend after the hip replacement. It's really wonderful how the human body can heal. However, no matter how we work at it, our lives are really quite short anyway, so we should measure what we do against eternal value, not merely temporal value. I find it hard to think that way, though.
Hi, friends, yesterday was even crazier than the other day. In fact, both my former bosses called to meed me for meals, etc. One of them laughed and said I didn't seem to have many grey hairs or wrinkles, and I commented wryly, "Well, they're trying hard to catch up with me - that's why I don't look very grey or wrinkled!" We had a good chuckle.
My cousin has received her wonderful and final complete healing. We will make arrangements today for her funeral and burial. What a saint of God she was! Imagine the rejoicing in Heaven as they welcomed her into the home - a home of continual praise, worship, and no pain ever again.
I received a replacement cell phone yesterday-the old one took a nosedive onto the hard tile floor in my bathroom-and the new one's activated, but the person who transferred my contact numbers forgot to put the charger, etc. back into the packing box, so right now my "fingers must do my talking." :)
Haven't been able to call about my friend who underwent the terrible cancer surgery because of the phone issues. I'll try to visit her later today.
Must go - Love to each of you.
Ruth Ann

Janet~Slow down! My busyness is a 'walk in the park' next to your busyness! Whew! You wear me out!
And swimming 36 links is a 'walk in the park' next to an hour of swim rehab! I feel so good while doing it but a couple of hours later, I feel like the wind has been knocked out of me. Therefore, Inky and I took a nice nap yesterday afternoon. Today is much better.
While in swim rehab yesterday, there were several seniors there doing maintenance rehab. Two men got everyone talking about religion. Both men had some viewpoints that I sure didn't believe in. Later in the dressing room, the ladies were talking about Bob and Mike getting everyone in the conversation of religion. Come to find out...Bob is Jehovah Witness and Mike is an atheist! I know what I believe in but I don't know the Bible well enough to quote scripture. I just know it is in the Bible but where?...not sure. So with that ... all I am going to do is pray for Bob and Mike.
Today started out being cloudy and rainy. Now it is a little brighter...the sun is trying so hard to shine on us! Funny, I look out the door to the east and it is sunny...to the west, still overcast! I don't have anywhere to go today so may just get out the sweeper and get some of the purr-girls coats off the furniture and carpet!(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FFootprints.gif&hash=44496580d083bac067afa63bf86e200c298046a8)

I have been reading but not posting.
Al: Amen to the length of our lives and how we think and feel.
Janet: Seems like you should slow down kinda. It is so nice that Beth and John will be able to have special time together.
Etta Sue: I do find it difficult to quote scripture but those folk do know our spiritual walk. Also I find that some just like to argue.
As for me I have been busy but not like Janet, I had got a call saying that my family Dr's records were ready for me to pick up and take to our new Dr. He is closer so I trust that it will all work out I had a chance to speak with the Dr. I am leaving and he did say if things do not work out I am welcome to return, such a nice feeling. Unlike leaving the chiropractor he was just a little on the nasty side and he was even worse when our son left him as for this guy there is not a chance that I will go back.
The sun is shinning and I am going to get a book and head out to the Gazebo.
Due to the posting problems we had last week, we've extended the time for voting in our latest Mini Challenge. Hi, friends, I'm here so late because of a bit of an upset tummy. As my grandma used to say, "This, too, SHALL pass!" :)
Those photos are so well thought out and well done. Wow! What talent here at CP.
Pat, may God's richest blessing fill your heart and spill out on our web administrators, too! It's wonderful that the faster time could be achieved.
Father, we thank You for EVERY ONE of your blessings, and, we also remember that we are to "...in everything give thanks..." so, we thank you for the challenges we endure as well. -- In Your Precious Son's Name we pray...Amen.

I noticed I don't have a Father's Day animation so I put in my favorite one.
I was just going to run the sweeper yesterday but decided to move my bed, dresser and chair in my bedroom. I didn't sleep well last night...the cats couldn't find their spot, the window and clock were on the wrong sides of the bed. I got up before the alarm went off but I am now ready for church.
Probably a nap will be in store for this afternoon.
I am so glad that CP is once more fast! YAY! And congratulations to whoever is responsible.
Looks like rain any second! Going to be a good sleeping afternoon!! <_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_>

Hi everyone. We had another stormy evening with a lot of damage and power outages in the various parts of the Atlanta area. I just spoke with my daughter this morning and she said they had some hail as well as rain and wind in mid-town Atlanta. We just had the rain and did not lose power.
Today's highlight, as it should be, will be attending our church services this morning and having another opportunity to sing in our choir. Then we will go out to get something to eat for lunch and then have a restful afternoon and evening.
Last evening I spent quite a bit of time coming up with pictures of people or business logos for businesses for the phone numbers I have in my smart phone. I had captured the little icon images we have here on CP for those of you in my phonebook and looked through family photos, church directories, etc. for some others. I will never be able to complete the project but it is fun. With the camera I can take a persons picture and have it immediately so into the contact--pretty neat. I will start taking some pictures of our choir members this morning if there is time and I don't forget.
Al, I agree with you about measuring our lives against the eternal values.
Ruth Ann, I know you will miss your cousin but can rejoice at her no longer suffering. You will have a busy day if you are helping with the arrangements. Too bad about your phone but glad you were able to get another. When Pat got her new phone a couple of days ago the sales rep had quite a time transferring her contacts from her old phone to the new but kept at it until he accomplished his goal.
Etta Sue, I remember how good the pool exercises felt until I ran out of energy. I eventually had to give that up. Glad you are able to do it. Sounds like there was quite a discussion of religion.
Ruth, strange how a doctor being unpleasant to you would think that would make you want to come back to see him. Hope your new doctor works out to your satisfaction.
Jeanne Lee, I did respond to the e-mail and voted on the photos in the contest. It sure was great to have CP be so responsive and it looks like the worst is behind us with the server problem.
This is the Lord's Day and to the Men here on CP Happy Fathers's Day
Larry: Speaking of doctors and other professional folk but then what I have in mind applies to all of us really, if for some reason we speak our mind we do not see ourselves or I should say I do not see myself as nasty but the one one to whom I speak could feel that it is nasty.
We do not have anything special for today just to sit and enjoy the warmth and beauty.
Time for :coffee:
Hello, friends, I'm here for a moment.
Today's my turn to care for my deceased cousin's wonderful sister who is now 91 and completely paralyzed as far as any movement is concerned.
So, a wonderful devoted servant of God is now trapped in her helpless body and is in the nursing home on this same college campus aabout a block away. I loved her so much (and we were such good friends) that even tho there was the 20 year age gap, Sherman and I double dated with her and her beau. And, when we married, she was my maiden of honor.
Now, it's my time to love and help care for her.
She has an odd name - Elzora. If you think of her, please ask for God's loving kindness with this godly saint. She's really grieving the loss of her only remaining sister.
Much love to all.
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. I see there have been only a couple of postings since I last posted so will just check in for today. Nothing unusual planned for the day. The housekeepers and yard people will be here. I have my men's luncheon and then this evening Pat and I both have separate things to attend so will be a fairly busy day.
Ruth Ann, never heard that name before (Elzora). It certainly isn't a common name.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FGarfieldsleeping.gif&hash=106eedadd896161f207c6c56fa04aec076431fd5)
Personally, I don't think that any name starting with an 'E' is odd... ::)
We are having a terrific thunderstorm right now. Lightening, thunder and heavy rain. It is Ivalou's time to drive today but I called to let her know I would drive in her place since she hasn't driven in rain much. She has an appointment with her neurologist and then we will eat somewhere. Then our rehabs after that. And maybe stopping at the golf course to get their donations for our Silent Auction.
I have a WeatherFX in my living room. It gets its weather from Indy somewhere. I came in the living room and it read 150°!!! Now it is back to normal...68°!! Now wonder it was storming!!!
It's as dark right now as it is at 9:45pm! Dusk to dawn lights are on and I have house lights on! Big clap of thunder!! <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo>
