:) Quote of the Week
We need to learn to know Him so well
that we feel safe when we have
left our difficulties with Him.
To know in that way
is a prerequisite
of all true prayer.

Morning Devotional...
A Repeated Prediction
Mark 14:26-52 NLT
Then [Jesus and the disciples] sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.
On the way, Jesus told them, "All of you will desert me. For the Scriptures say,
'God will strike the Shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered.'
But after I am raised from the dead, I will go ahead of you to Galilee and meet you there."
Peter said to him, "Even if everyone else deserts you, I never will."
Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, Peter—this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny three times that you even know me."
"No!" Peter declared emphatically. "Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you!" And all the others vowed the same.
They went to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and Jesus said, "Sit here while I go and pray." He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he became deeply troubled and distressed. He told them, "My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me."
He went on a little farther and fell to the ground. He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass him by. "Abba, Father," he cried out, "everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine."
Then he returned and found the disciples asleep. He said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Couldn't you watch with me even one hour? Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
Then Jesus left them again and prayed the same prayer as before. When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn't keep their eyes open. And they didn't know what to say.
When he returned to them the third time, he said, "Go ahead and sleep. Have your rest. But no—the time has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Up, let's be going. Look, my betrayer is here!"
And immediately, even as Jesus said this, Judas, one of the twelve disciples, arrived with a crowd of men armed with swords and clubs. They had been sent by the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders. The traitor, Judas, had given them a prearranged signal: "You will know which one to arrest when I greet him with a kiss. Then you can take him away under guard." As soon as they arrived, Judas walked up to Jesus. "Rabbi!" he exclaimed, and gave him the kiss.
Then the others grabbed Jesus and arrested him. But one of the men with Jesus pulled out his sword and struck the high priest's slave, slashing off his ear.
Jesus asked them, "Am I some dangerous revolutionary, that you come with swords and clubs to arrest me? Why didn't you arrest me in the Temple? I was there among you teaching every day. But these things are happening to fulfill what the Scriptures say about me."
Then all his disciples deserted him and ran away. One young man following behind was clothed only in a long linen shirt. When the mob tried to grab him, he slipped out of his shirt and ran away naked.

While praying, Jesus was aware of what doing the Father's will would cost him. He understood the suffering he was about to encounter, and he did not want to have to endure the horrible experience.
But Jesus prayed, "I want your will, not mine."
Anything worth having costs something. What does your commitment to God cost you? Be willing to pay the price to gain something worthwhile in the end.
The Best of the Bible--365 Must-Read Bible Passages
HELLO! Thank God for helpful friends, and for techie grandsons! Curtis called me, we got set up so he could take control of this computer, and he got me fixed up. Really, I just had one small typo in my login, and that was my bad. But he got some other things changed for me. So here I am at last. Whew, what a steep learning curve this is. Going to such a flat configuration keyboard, plus using finger mouse, plus all the other changes from desktop, and trying to learn them under a very high stress situation.....well, anyhow. You get the picture.
Larry, you're the best! What a kind and encouraging man you are, and a dear friend. I surely hope to meet you and your Pat one of these days before too long. Thanks so much.
And all the rest of you dear, dear friends here and in Seniors and Friends, how you have touched my heart with all of your messages to Beth and me. They don't bring them up on weekends, but weekdays we usually get several, and they are such a day brightener. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Beth was so bad yeaterday afternoon, I was really scared. I stayed here with her until midnight, then went back to the Rondald McDonald house, showered, washed my hair, took an Ambien to help me sleep, and crashed. She seems better today; much more alert, anyway. Still so very far to go, though. When they changed the dressing on her open wound (it is HUGE!) about two or three cups of stool (bowel contents) came flooding out! Oh, my! And nothing has drained out through the colostomy tube for days and days now. I just don't understand why it is coming out through the wound and NOT through the tube, so am going to try to catch one of the surgeons tomorrow and get an explanation.
Beth is in constant pain, and has many other problems. I did want to clarify, though, that all of this has nothing to do with her having neurofibromatosis! It is all because when she had that gall bladder surgery in April, the doctor perforated her colon; then didn't pay attention when she said she was getting worse and worse. And then put off going to the care home to see about her until it was almost too late. And even then, it was the other doctor who went.
Question: How do you feel about a Christian suing a doctor for something like this? Some of my family think we shoud sue; I really hesitate to become embroiled in something like that. Suggestions? Feelings? Comments? Help me look at the situation rationally, please. I know I am much too close to it to think really clearly.
Boy, it sure is nice to be back "home" here with you folks! I was getting homesick in more ways than one. I will feel much less lonely now. And I even figured out how to use the hospital's internet cxonnection and not have to use my Verizon card.
Janet, welcome back. That was such a good idea to have your grandson take control of your computer like that and get it setup for you. So glad to hear that Beth isn't as low as yesterday. It seems that ultimately bringing a law suit against this doctor might save some other person from experiencing the terrible ordeal his negligence is putting Beth through.
Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional for this week.
Let's see if I can go blue?
Pat, what new is there from London about Rachael today? You and the family have been on my mind. The graduation ceremony was so special, glad she could have that. Thank you for taking time to help me, even in the midst of such a sad time for your family. You know I love you.
I will ask Darrel to call Alltel and inquire about buying more minutes for the cell phones. This is the first time we have even come close to using our available minutes! But what a blessing cell phones are in so many situations.
Beth had a pretty sleepless night, the nurse said, so she is sleeping now. We have a wonderful nurse this weekend. In this Burn Care ICU, there are only two patients per nurse, but this is far a away the best one we have had. Ad she told me today that her 35 year old husband in up on the 8th floor, being treated for stage 3 colon cancer, with an ileostomy that hasn't been very successful. They have three very young children, too. I told her I'm so sorry and she said,"It really isn't about us. It's about loving and enjoying each other for whatever time God gives us." What a great attitude. She (her name is Jennifer) is a beautiful person, inside and out. Thank God for kind, caring, compassionate nurses! And this afternoon, she even sent an order to the kitchen to bring me food trays as Beth's mom. She said that is part of it, that I'm here halping take care of Beth, I need to eat, and shouldn't have to go to the cafeteria and buy food. God is so good.
Sorry to be so long-winded, but I've missed you guys! ;) :)[/color]
Janet, I made it! Thanks for your help! And since you asked the question about making that doctor answer for his neglect.... if you have the strength to go through with it, you may save other lives. When my mother had a pacemaker put in the doctor punctured her lung causing it to deflate. From the next two months it was one problem after another, of doctor and nurse neglect and ignoring what all of us tried to explain to them about her long time health problems. Her old doctor retired, the new doctor didn't know her history but insisted a pacemaker would improve her quality of life, and the surgeon was incompetent! Too long to explain here, but my sister insisted that our father couldn't stand finding out she died from "mistakes". My question to her was, "how many more will die from their mistakes if they aren't made accountable?" My opinion is do what you & your family (including Beth) can cope with.
I'm so relieved tonight that Beth had a better day and that you got your new laptop up & running. Have a peaceful sleep tonight. God Bless!
Janet, it's so good to read your post. And I love seeing your OWN blue type. :)
Janet, I thought this was all from her neurofibromatosis. Bless her heart. She has so much to deal with and now this. I know I'd be angry and defending my daughter. I get upset when something like this happens and it's from negligence on the surgeon's part. If they'd only listened to Beth. If they'd kept better after care. So many ifs that could have been addressed. This was not just "one of those tragic mistakes". It might have been if he'd taken responsibility and acted accordingly. Did he apologize? Admit what happened? Or did he leave it for someone else to deal with?
That's just human nature to feel like this. I guess you'll know more as you go on, and pray about it too. As Larry said, if he is incompetent. he should be exposed so this won't happen again. Maybe a lawyer could find out if he's had complaints, his record, etc. Decide what to do later. I know it's all about Beth now.
You can be as long winded as you want!!! :) As I said, it's just so good to see you here.
edit: Hi, TISIE!!
Hey, hey, hey .... There's Janet in blue and Tisie too!!! :thumbsup2:
Bet y'all didn't know I'm a poet, nope, I know you didn't know it! :D
It's soooo good to see you here again, Janet ... and great to see that Tisie made an appearance, once again, as well.
Janet, I guess you will eventually do exactly as you feel best ... but only after prayer and consultation with the family. People here have given their best advice, as well .... Yup, I believe the incompetency needs to be exposed ... But you don't have to deal with that now. Just get some rest whenever possible and know you and Beth are in our prayers continually. <3
Janet - it really is good to see your blue post again! I'm always willing to share my opinions. That's obvous. Anyway, here goes. I agree with the others that the doctor's incompetence needs to be exposed and hopefully corrected. However, there is more to it than that. The very reason we have the privilege of bringing suit is to compensate for the cost that's been laid upon us by what the other person has done. It isn't fair that we should bear that burden. The burden in your case is the awful harm that has (or could have) come to Beth. That cost is huge. I do not feel it to be wrong to force some fairness here. That incompetent doctor needs to pay, not only to expose his incompetence, but to compensate (in really only a small way) for the cost to you and Beth - a cost that includes emotional distress in an extreme. I think it would be wrong to "lay it on him" beyond a reasonable amount, but still it is only fair for him to pay in this case up to at least some relatively reasonable level. It's wrong when the suit demands so much that it is obvious that you are only attempting to enrich yourself, but it is not wrong to demand some fair degree of compensation. I can't tell you how much that is. I think prayer and counsel from fellow believers can do that, though I know it is difficult. As others have said, it partly depends upon your emotional ability to undergo the tension that comes with these things. However, be aware that the doctor will likely be advised to settle out of court if the amount isn't beyond reason.
Hey, now THAT'S some good advice, Al ... I agree! ;)
BLUE is the word for the way that I feel, as the old western song says.....I have just been told there is a stong liklihood I will be asked to make other housing arrangements. This Ronald McDonald house has had families of two adult patients staying here, and the others have already been told they will have to leave. I'm asking for FERVENT PRAYER that I won't have to leave. I am alone and on foot, and this place is such a blessing to me, a place to unwind a little from the stress of long hours watching poor Beth suffer. So please pray with me that NO MORE children/babies get sick, and no more premature babies are brought to Wichita!
I'm trying not to worry, but this is a big concern! Thanks.
Hi, Shirley/Tisie (with a l-o-o-o-ng i!) Glad you made it in, and thanks again for the delicious cookies! (((hugs)))
Janet: You are receiving such good advise and now I pray that your sleeping quarters will remain as is.
So many have family members that are very very sick and now I am adding my brother Allan as he is and has been in the Burlington Hospital since last Tuesday with shortness of breath, he has a lung and heart spec. doing tests and trying to figure things out. He is being brave but is very concerned as well. This problem had been coming very slowly but then it laid him low so to speak. Yes he does know the Lord as his personal friend and saviour.
The evening is coming to a close so better think about shutting down.
Hi, friends,
Tisie and Janet, so GREAT to see you both! Tisie, thank you for being nearby to comfort Janet with love and hugs and prayer.
Janet, of course, we will be praying about your need for being close to Beth. Oh, how I hope you will be provided for!
Did I notice this is Jeanne Lee's birthday??
Y'all have a great rest of the day.
Much love to everyone.
Ruth Ann

Janet ~ How great you have a grandson that helped you with your laptop. And I totally agree with Al with his counseling to you!
Today Ivalou and I are taking our SIL to the Surgery Center to get a steroid shot in her back. I need to drop off a CD at the church and maybe stop off at the golf course on the way back to see if they will donate some green fees to our silent auction at our church picnic June 28th.
That's it for today....gotta rush!! ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FDailys%2F%253Cbr%2520%2F%253ESwct.gif&hash=47744720c9eef84ce4c909885ccea46f0549b518)
Janet, I'm so glad to see you're getting used to the laptop - as Etta Sue said, it's great that you grandson could help.
I'm praying, too, for you to be able to stay at Ronald McDonald House, as well as for Beth's improvement and your strength in the Lord.
Ruth Ann, yes - yesterday was my birthday. I can't believe it's #77!!! :yikes:
Etta Sue, you have to be one of the busiest ladies I know. Do you ever slow down? ;)
Hello Everyone!
It's lovely to see you in here, Tisie!
Janet, I'm so happy you got on here.
I'll go and delete the other "Janet 1" registration.
We'll chat soon too about the caring bridge site for Beth.
Janet - one other thing you very much need at this time is a Christian lawyer. You might be able to find one through a local church in Witchita. If you know any of the local churches, you could call the pastor and ask who might be there. Without a lawyer you'd have a hard time getting things started, carrying them through. You'd probably get good advice if the lawyer was truly committed to our Lord.
By the way, Janet, I'm sure you're aware of it already, but the only Scriptural admonitions relative to bringing suit, goin to court, etc. is to cases between brethren, not to public cases that don't concern brothers & sisters. I would assume, therefore, that such admonitions do not apply in your case. If the doctor in view were a Christian, he should already have apologized and offered compensatory help. If he is not a Christian, however, then you can indeed love him, pray for him, and admonish him. But, when all that's said and done, you can also sue him - reasonably.
Hi everyone. Just back from coffee at McDonald's, walking at the gym, going to Krogers and then stopping at the Post Office to mail a package. In about 90 minutes I will leave again to go to my men's Monday luncheon, which is always most enjoyable. Pat won't have to cook for me tonight, although she reminded me she has to eat. :) Where we are going today is called the Green Tomatoe and it is a very reasonable buffet. We have been there several times before.
Pat went to the chiropractor and then has gone to another grocery store for some items. We will both be ready for a quiet afternoon and evening. There is a good chance we will have rain showers later that afternoon, but this morning is beautiful.
Janet, glad to see that perhaps I wasn't in left field with my comments on a subsequent case. Our daughter has just received a settlement on a workmen's comp case that has been underway for 2 years and the settlement was for subsequent medical expenses since she had some irrepairable damage to her back at her job. I thought Al's advice as to how to seek out a Christian lawyer was very sound.
Janet, just a thought regarding your potential need for other housing. Perhaps your pastor could contact a pastor of your church in Withita and he would know of someone who would like to help you. Very often people want to help but don't know of the need.
Tisie, nice to see you posting and welcome to CP. We are always happy to have folks join us here in our daily conversations.
Etta Sue, when I first read your posting I thought maybe you were taking up golf. :) Hope the golf club is generous with their contribution for your cause.
Ruth, I hope the doctors soon diagnose the problems your brother is experiencing. It certainly sounds like classic heart related problems but I am no doctor. I do have a lot of experience living with a bad heart and there are wonderful helps in the area in medication, pacemakers, etc. if this is the cause.
OK I am back posting. It has been a busy weekend with John testing potential drivers for the company he works for and taking the girls swimming. We had little time with John so cherished every moment.
Janet Larry and Al have given good advise.
We have lovely weather today, and the seed we planted is sprouting. Looks like a good yield this year.
Must run, I have to go for blood tests today in preparation for a Dr's. appt. on Wednesday.
Ruth I have added your brother to my list to be prayed for, also you and Mel.
Have a good day.
Hi from sunny Vancouver Island!
Janet, it is good to see you posting! Even tho' I am not inclinded to expound on the subject, you and Beth are in my prayers. I have always found Al's advice to be sound and agree with his comments. One can not even imagine the stress you are in and later would be the time to make a decision.....
Larry, I use both Advance Care and now also Auslogics on my computer. Found Advance Care is good but Auslogics cleans up what it leaves behind. Also, have used Sony Wireless Headphones for listening to my TV as deaf in my left ear, due to the years working with large computers, before we finally got quiet ones and could use headsets to block the noise. Have had the Sony for over five years and only last month finally had to replace the battery. They are great.
Must leave to go Carpet Bowling. Hope the air conditioning is not turned too high this time. Makes me sneeze!
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Hi Liz...
I'm still intrigued with the "carpet bowling". I've never heard of it anywhere around here.
Well, the family are gathered around Rachael's bedside. So, I'm sure that we'll hear soon that she has passed away.
Maybe students have been looking at the graduation photos here:
http://rachaelsjourney.photography-cafe.com/ (Click on "Rachael's Graduation")
The sun is shinning and the construction is proceeding on our street, lots of bumps, holes and yes noise. We also have a meeting about all of this this evening at least we will be more in the know of what to expect.
I did a load of laundry this morning and now after having a snack I will be going down stairs to cut out a couple of patterns for some sewing.
Oh yes I planted more beans and Mel has put a cage over them - protection from the bunnies.
Allan was to have the scope inserted down his throat so when we hear from him I expect we will be more in the know.
Happy Birthday to all who are celebrating.
Hello, everyone. I'm having a rough day--getting conflicting reports from surgeons. One even said it's time to "think about placement!" :o she is in no shape to be moved anywhere, and where would she go?? The wound looks so awful, and with the stool still pouring out of it. The surgeon said, when I asked him point-blank why nothing is coming out the tube, "because it's blocked." I had been telling them it was blocked for about five days now, and they kept saying it wasn't. Guess what they use to flush it? SPRITE!! I am not kidding you.
I am so weary I can barely hold myhead up, so I am going to her room and try to take a nap in the recliner. Talk to you later. ]/color]
Janet, what email address are you using while you're at the hospital?
Janet: All I can say is that is so terrible. I am praying for the situation
Allan called saying the test had been done, something he did not enjoy but now we must wait for the results.
Hi, friends,
May God be with you and Beth, Janet. What trying times! Have you learned any more about your accommodations?
I can't see how they can force Beth to move right now in her situation. Ohhh, goodness!
I'll be praying as I rest this evening.
Pat, here's what I found in the online Encarta encyclopedia:
carpet bowling
car·pet bowl·ing
noun
Definition:
Indoor game similar to lawn bowling: a game that resembles lawn bowling, played indoors with round or slightly asymmetric balls
Ruth Ann
Well, I still have a room at R. McD for tonight and Tuesday, at least. Thank you, Jesus!
Pat, I got a gmail account, and also am getting email from my home account janet@pld.com . The gmail one is janitadamon@gmail.com .
Now I am going to bed and try to sleep for a few hours. What a weary day this has been.
Thanks, friends, for caring. Oh! Darrel got us added minutes (increased it to 900) until further notice. So if anyone wants to call, please do. Pat, Larry, Etta Sue, and I think Ruth Ann all have my number.
Rachael passed away today.
Pat, I'm so sorry. I'm so glad that all of her family could gather around her.
Janet, I'm praying for you and for Beth tonight. I don't have words for what is happening to her. :'( :'(
Pat, I'm so sorry ... Only God can give the comfort needed in this time .. :(
Janet ... as Nita already said: I just don't have words to wrap my brain around what you and Beth are going through. I am praying.
My heart is aching tonight ... :'( :'(
Pat I have passed the news on. What are the arrangements? Not likely I will be able to go though.
Janet and Ruth continuing to pray.
Pat: My sympathy to the family for the loss of a daughter and family member - a lovely young girl. May all be strengthened in this trial.
Janet: Yes, go and find a lawyer who will understand - may you be well guided in that respect. We have had poor advice from two different lawyers - that is a sad realization. I am so sorry for Beth's pain.
Al: The road will be fine to get into the housing area as soon as they get it all regraded and fixed - it just needs better drainage. We are supposed to get a break from the springtime storms and all will be shouting Hallelujah How are the legs? Improving?
Tisie: How wonderful to see you posting here. Welcome neighbor!
For all: Tisie is in the next state but out here we call them close neighbors.
Off to the dentist this afternoon - a 2 1/2 hour appointment so I am taking a book on tape. Ugh. Don't expect me to fix dinner - tapioca for me. We spent hours yesterday trying to watch g-son in tennis match. A storm came & the match was then sent over to another park - where it was crowded & we waited - then rain came again - finally, after extra hours they played double tennis - he & his partner won. The partner also plays baseball & a couple of times hit the ball out of the park so to speak. ;D
HI everyone. Just back from my usual morning routine and have a few minutes before leaving again for the morning. It is suppose to get very hot here today, up in the 90s with humidity and the possibility of an afternoon shower. We didn't get the shower yesterday.
Not much on the agenda for today for the afternoon or evening. Yesterday I took digital photos of everything in our house, including opening drawers and cabinets. I will be saving them in my Google photos and also fixing a cd that I can put in the bank vault. This is just precautionary in the event we ever had a disaster. It is so difficult to recall from memory or describe what you have once it is gone and these will serve as memory joggers. I don't expect to ever need them but a picture is worth a thousand words. That will likely be my major project for today.
Pat, know it is a sad day for your family and especially Rachel's immediate family.
Janet, hope you will be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house beyond tonight. It almost sounds like the doctor's have given up on Beth since the seepage is continuing. You would think there would be something they could do to stop that as it must be filling her with infection. I am sure you must be beyond frustation by now. I continue to pray for you and Beth everyday and to think of you often. Janet, you mentioned that you had free minutes on weekends and nights. What time at night does that kick in?
Carol, hope you don't have to keep your mouth open for 2 1/2 hours. When I had my tooth pulled the dentist used a wedge to hold my mouth open and that was helpful rather than having to consciously do it. Hope the procedure goes well.
Liz, thanks for the info on the Sony headphones. I have written it down and will check into them today.
Ruth, it is always a mess when the construction is going on but when it is finished it is very nice. We have just gone through 2 years of road construction in our area and now that work is finished and it is really a great improvement.

So sad to hear of Rachael's passing. So young but she blessed so many lives...even lives that did not know of her until a few days ago.
Janet ~ Get plenty of rest if at all possible. Take care of yourself. God has both of you in His hands.
Today is Euchre and I just got a call from Kitty. She is to give a talk on Muvee Making at the local library next Thursday. I think her laptop is dying. She can't save anything from the laptop to a flash drive or a SD card or even a CD. She can't print from the laptop. So since I am going to Euchre and she is going to Youth Commission this afternoon, I told her I would be at her house this evening at 6:15 and hopefully, two heads can figure something out. She really needs a new laptop.
Off and running! a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m.

Pat, I am so sorry about Rachael. The pictures are lovely and she must have been a very special young woman. One can only hope that all those students will take away something positive from her life ending.
I am sort of late with this: Belated Happy Birthday Pat.
Another beautiful day here on the island. I am going to walk in a bit. Have to do some errands at the mall.
About that strange sounding Carpet Bowling. It is similar to lawn bowling...without the grass. We use a green carpet instead. 4 to a team, weighted balls, yellow and brown (usually) with a small white ball called the Jack. Object, get close to the white ball. Points scored each end (like curling), balls closest to Jack get the points. Final total = winner. There are rules to follow and as long as people are good sports, it can be fun. Not as strenuous as lawn bowling. I like lawn bowling.....my body does not! The game does require skill and concentration and is played at the Senior Games for medals.
Larry, I read on Google about the Sony Headphones and it would seem some do not know how to use them. I have what at that time was the best set....around $100.00. Cost of recharge battery is around $12.00 for two, from Sony. After they are connected, I have to always go into the TV Menu, select Video, Options, turn the Speaker Off. Then headphones take over. Do the same and turn speaker On when not using them. Only takes a minute. Sound control on headset. The headphones will recharge when in place on the dock (or whatever it is called). You probably already know this anyway....... :)
Time to go and get busy.
Thinking about you and Beth, Janet.
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Good morning! After a good night's sleep, the world seems brighter today. I think I am just about to that point where I can truthfully say, "Lord, Beth is yours and I am yours. Do with us what you will. I know I am not in control, but whatever you need me to do, I will do. And if that means sleeping here in the hospital, so be it."
There is a measure of peace that comes with resignation, although there is not much change in the outward appearance of things. I just pray my dear husband can feel some peace, too. This ordeal is really hard on him, as well as me.
Pat, I'm so sorry about Rachael, and pray with you that she did give her heart to the Lord before the end came. That, really, is the only thing that matters. Our years here on earth are so fleeting, even if we live to be 100 or beyond. My son-in-law's grandma celebrated her 104th birthday last Saturday, and I would wager she doesn't feel she has been here all that long.
Beth's nurse told me a while ago that the resident of the burn unit thinks something should be done about this tube that isn't draining; either re-positioned, removed, re-done, or something. :-\ :-\
So here I am, just waiting...and waiting...and waiting. But I feel the sustenance of the Lord as we continue this journey through the valley.
Thanks to all of you for your prayers and your comments. It means more than you could know, until you have walked this road, and I pray you don't have to do that. God bless you all. :)
I came in to see if you had posted, Janet. You and Beth are in my heart today. There's not many moments when you aren't lifted in prayer...as we all watch and wait with you as you walk through this.
I can read some refreshment in your words as you have really let go and have just fallen into God's own arms. Feeling His sustenance, as you said. When we fall, it can only be into Him, because we're His and IN Him wherever we are. You are such a dear sister, and your faith an inspiration as you walk through this valley. I continue to pray for your spiritual strength and Grace and Mercy to surround you like a warm blanket. hugs, Nita
Janet: Just checking on you. Do you have a Patient's Advocate at the hospital? How about the Chaplain? I used to be the "get the right answer person" years ago at the request of the patient and/or family. The right questions and the right answers help so much. Glad that you are rested from last night and you are feeling the peace of a faith-filled lifetime. It also helps to write your concerns out because in these short meetings there are sometimes forgotten concerns.
Larry: Sorry, I just walked over and read the name of the company selling TV*Ears for our listening to television. I can say that they have worked very well for the price and I do remember Don saying he just wanted to try a less expensive hearing assistance. It helps so much when one actor is whispering or there is background music - why do they do that?
Etta Sue: Good luck with your meeting and problem solving.
It is such a lovely day, after getting back from the orthopedic store I spent a lot of time outside enjoying the day now that I am in perhaps I will do some sewing but before that I must get a loaf of bread started in the bread machine.
My prayers for all. As Janet said we must let go, and put our Lord in control.
Hi Everybody,
With Pat in mind I would like to say 'Sorry to hear about your loss of your neice-May you find comfort and peace in memory of her for you and family'...
Janet/Beth, remember Christ is our healer, just trust in him-by his stripes we are healed, release your trust and faith in him and you shall recieve...I am glad that you are able to be there, Janet. Both are continuously in my prayer...
Today was a good day, I made progress in the garden, just a little bit more and I shall be done, I'll probably have late summer blooms, that's ok! It will be worth it...
Remember to 'Love God above all else and Love one another'...The greatest commandments above all...
Janet and Pat, I'm at a loss for words, but Jesus taught us to say in the Lord's prayer: "Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven."
Father, I commit all these individuals to Your loving care and to Your will.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen.
Morning Everybody!
It's a beautiful refreshing day after the storm last night, though it didn't stop raining til earlier this morning in NE OH...We/this area was ready indeed for that!
So what's up for your day?...
I guess I'll have to stay inside and clean today :(. Cupboards have been long due so I guess I may start with that but I prefer to be outdoors cleaning out there, :D ;)...
Well outside for a stroll 1st...
Remember to put on your God armor today! Have a blessed day all! :)
Hi everyone. It is to be very hot here today, over 90 degrees. So far this morning it is overcast but no rain is predicted. I went to coffee at McDonald's and then 2 of the men and I went to the gym and walked several rounds. However, they are having a baseball camp this week and there were about 40 little kids in there awaiting the time to go to the baseball field. So we walked about half our normal walk.
This afternoon I have to see the PA in the dermatology section at Kasier to see if I can get something taken off my upper lip. I have put it off long enough and it is quite an inconvenience and I keep cutting it so it never goes away. This evening is choir practice.
Janet, so glad to see you feeling a bit brighter. I am reminded of the Serenity Prayer, which I say often. I am sure we are all aware of it but will put it here anyway:
God grant me the serentiy to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
I combine this with my prayer to God that I His will be done in my life and that I am willing to listen for an feel God's will in my life. Some days I have to stay within the hour or day and not really worry about tomorrow. Fortunately, I don't know what tomorrow brings and for that I am very thankful. I just know I don't have to face life along as I have my Lord to carry the burden and take the walk with me.
Carol, I have heard of the TV ears but haven't tried them out. I do want something that would allow me to listen to the TV at a lower volume while my wife could set the should at a comfortable level for her to hear. I still have very good hearing. Liz, it sounds like the Sony set would be fine for watching alone but that you have to turn off the volume on the set for the headset to work and that is not what I want.

Euchre was fun. The hostess had a Taco Bar. Very delicious. And Brownies for dessert!
And I got Kitty set up for her demonstration. First, she was trying to put a Word document on her flash drive as 'Save As'. I told her she needed to Copy and Paste. That worked. Then she was trying to do the same with her finished movie that she made. She doesn't have a program to 'burn' that I could find so we tried the copy and paste of the movie to the flash drive. Then I burnt a couple of CD's on my laptop. So we accomplished what she was frustrated about...She has her Word document printed from the desktop and two CD's with the movie on them. Then I had her to download www.auslogics.com . She had over 27,000 problems in disk cleanup and we fixed them. That alone will help her laptop.
Nothing happening today. Will try to veg out. Just will say I called the InterStim Therapy nurse yesterday and she said to stop all caffeine. I did yesterday and have only made 4 trips to the smallest room in my house in 18 hours!! Wheee!>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<

Etta Sue: That is something to be cheering for ---- :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :groupwave:
Larry: Don was in the Air Force - Strategic Air Command - talk about loud jet noise. I worked in planes as well and I really do miss some things being said whenever there is a loud room or loud background noise especially. Yes, I have put them on just to keep the voice control down and especially when Don is on phone conference. Our oldest son had a trip to Alabama today & he is griping about the heat.
Just sent in my prescription via the computer and it is such a wonderful, easy and fast thing to do it that way. I get 3 months per time so we can not concern ourselves about that when we take a trip.
Things are happening fast this week at the cabin - hooray, the electricity should be finished this week. And, the water guy has been out there to look things over & it looks good for him to finish soon---we were all getting antzy.
:ticked: I have already composed two long posts to update you on how things are going, and lost both of them. >:( >:( I will do a shorter one and post it, then maybe come back and tell you the rest.
First, thanks for continuring to uphold Beth and me in your prayers. I truly know that is the only reason we are doing as well as we are.
The nurse is here redoing Beth's feeding tube, which became blocked last night. Not pleasant.
Four of her doctors have been by, two of them conferred and have ordered another CT scan of her belly, then the plan is to either reposition, replace, or remove that blocked waste tube. Hooray! I had been telling them for a week it was plugged and they said it wasn't. >:( The infection control doctor got to see the wound for the first time and I told her Beth has a rash that is new, she was glad I told her so she can get on top of that development. Now for the first time I feel I can see a glimmer of light at the end of this very long tunnel.
Please keep my housing in your prayers: two rooms freed up yesterday, more people coming in today; I have paid for another week, and am praying I can stay there as long as necessary.
Her nurse just now told me the CT scan is to check for any abcesses, because Beth has been running fevers most of the time. Dr. Dory told me as long as the waste is coming out into her belly they cannot get the infections stopped, and she will continue to run temps above normal. That is what my common sense has been telling me all the time, and the reason I kept telling them the waste tube was blocked! GRRR.
I guess I have told it all again, now I will click post and hope not to lose it again! Love you guys... <3
Thanks for the latest, Janet. I pray they'll take good care of the rest of those problems that Beth is currently experiencing. Oh Father, enable the doctors to get the stoppage unblocked, and any other problems thoroughly fixed. Move them to compassion along with wisdom and skill.
We went out this morning to do our weekly thing at Winco, the big discount grocery store. We got as far as Arcata, about 7 miles from home, and the car's engine quit running. We were able to drift up near an exit. About the time we got out of the car, an AT&T truck pulled up just ahead of us and stopped. He got out, came back, asked what he could do for us. He had a cellphone, so he called AAA, and they were less than a mile from us, so they came right away. We have AAA Plus, so it was free towing to out auto repair place. At that place they gave us a ride home, so here we sit waiting to hear from them about what the problem might be. Oh how gracious our Lord is! Here we sit in the comfort of our own home! He is SOOOO good!
Well, just got a call from the garage, and it may be a timing belt. Depending on that, it could cost 400-500 dollars. But he'll get it done, at worst, by tomorrow.
Thank you for all your nice thoughts expressed over Rachael's death.
I'll give you the URL again of the photo website I set up for her. It's been very popular with the students in the school.
The funeral is on Friday so now I'm just trying to figure out if I can go. There's also another funeral that day in Toronto that I should attend but won't be able to.
It never rains but it pours!!!
Now, my son-in-law is in the hospital in London, Ontario. He and my grandson, Andrew, were on their way home from Windsor, Ontario and he went through an intersection with a flashing red light and ran into a huge semi (tractor trailer) and his new truck is a total write off but he's still alive!! Andrew has been released with lots of bruises but Phil has cracked vertebrae, ribs, and something to do with his bowels. So, he's admitted.
Ohhhh Pat How is Janice taking the news. Are the cracked vertebrae causing any paralysis? I wish I lived closer. Let Janice know I am praying.
What funeral is in Toronto?
Hi, everyone. I'm just dropping in to say hello.
Al, I'm sorry you'll have an auto bill, but so glad it happened favorably for all the rest. Being in your own home, safe, feels really good after something like that.
Just ask Jane.
Etta Sue, I have Auslogics too, but I thought all it did, and I looked again, was defrag. Am I missing something? I really like Advanced System Care for computer clean up. What all does Auslogics do?
Jane and I visited for awhile over a cup of coffee this morning. It was nice. :)
Janet, that one doctor that thought it was time to think of "placement" for Beth must have been out voted, if they are now looking at other options. God is in control. If you've paid for lodging for another week, and if they have parents of children needing a place to stay, do they make you leave and refund your money? I'm glad you are still able to stay there. It gives you a place to regroup and refresh.
Pat, you sound tired too. So much happening right now.
We are having some really nice weather. I should be out planting some flowers, but can't get into it today. Maybe tomorrow. The dogs need baths too.
I'm still praying for every need here. Nita
Oh Father, this world is full of trouble and sorrow! Our sin has brought it on. Oh deal in mercy with Phil and Andrew, Father. Mercifully heal their hurts - all of them - and teach them all that You have for them in all this.
Amen AL.
We spent time weeding the garden and after we went swimming. It was refreshing to get into the water even for just a little time.
There are so many prayer requests that I often don't know where to start to pray. God knows out hearts, and understands, but at times I feel so inadequate.
Till later
JudyB
Judy, we ARE inadequate! But remember: in our weakness He is strong. We can do nothing on our own and our Father is just waiting for us to realize that and turn it all over to Him, saying "Not my will but THINE be done."
There are so many in need just now ... and we are only aware of a small portion of it all. We only see in our small world way but God sees all things, and He knows the end from the very beginning. How grateful I am that I don't have to figure everything out. :)
My day became a full one coffee at Tim Horton's then to the chiropractor at 11 am in between all that Auntie called needing a necessary item from the store so now it is lunch at Wendy's etc etc then I arrived home by 3:30 it is so wonderful that I have a very patient husband.
Dinner this evening was fish chowder.
Etta Sue: You are a very talented lady.
Before coming here I was doing on line business for my brother, I am so thankful that I can help in a small way. Please continue to remember him in prayer as I feel that the road to recovery will be long.
Judy, Bill Maw's funeral is on Friday. I'd really like to attend that but I won't be able to.
A really nice day again! I could get used to having such beautiful weather here on the island.
Will continue to pray Janet. I sometimes wonder where doctors studied. Common sense no longer prevails. My SIL is going for his gall bladder operation next Friday. That is, if it doesn't get cancelled at the last minute...again. It was obvious to me that was likely the problem but a zillion tests and months past, before those brilliant doctors finally sent him for the correct scan. The gall bladder is in bad shape, with many stones, and must be removed. He has suffered terrible pain for such a long time.
Larry, what Carol suggested would be best, unless you both wanted to wear headsets. I understand double is possible. Personally, I would prefer not having to use them. Do like to hear what is on tho'.
Nita Auslogics does more than Advance Care. You need to read the many options.
Two more large companies have closed.....Eddie Bower stores, also a large Electrical Service Co. that was in business for over 70 yrs. Plus many people in other companies are being sent home without notice and given pink slips. I think what really bothers me so much about our society, is the lack of concern so many seniors show about what is happening to younger people. As long as they can drive their BMW's and continue going on expensive holidays, all is well with the world!!
Your poor President is feeling so sad about Fox Network daring to critique his gov. Seems they don't think he is God, like Newsweek declared. AT least I think it was Newsweek?
::)
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Liz, the Auslogics I downloaded is called Auslogics Disk Defrag, so I'm assuming there is another program too. I checked the one I have again, and as far as I can see, it only defrags. I just checked my Advanced System Care and it has 16 different tools.
edit: I looked at their site, and see you have to pay for it if you want more than the defrag.
We have had beautiful weather here too. It's almost 9 and I still have windows open.
Janet, <3
I have Auslogics Boost Speed, Nita. You do have to pay after the 15 day trial. Personally, I find it worth the small outlay of money....and I don't have an excess of that. Have found that it out-performs the Advance Care and does have more features. All a matter of what one wants. I have had my computer for nearly 7 yrs. without needing any techs. to service it....find small investments in care saves large expenses to repair. Again, all a matter of choice. :)
Liz
Well, here we are this morning. Overcast so far, though supposed to change to partly cloudy later.
We got our car back. The water pump had frozen up, and that broke the timing belt, so had to have both replaced. Between five and six hundred dollars! But at least it's working well now. Marbeth's going to her quilting group this morning, but I have to stay here, 'cause the UPS man is coming to pick up our old AT&T stuff that we used before switching to Suddenlink's high-speed internet.
Al How in the world did the pump freeze up? That buffalo's me how that could happen this time of year....Bug $$$$ to fix it too.
We have been given a van, like the one we own, to replace the parts on our van that need replacing. We have a friend picking it up this weekend. From what the guy (From our church) said, the body is in better shape than ours, and this is indeed a God send. Will let you know how that turns out.
Elizabeth is home today and we are on our way out to do more gardening. The weeds do grow faster than the seed. There is no rain on the horizon, so we will be watering the garden this weekend. When we are done that we will go swimming. Kass is at school for her music exam. It will be an easy one for her, then she is going out with friends. So a good time for both girls.
I was at the doctor yesterday. My BP is 101/69. No wonder I feel so tired, at least I am not in line for a stroke.
Pat any update on Phil? Didn't sleep well last night so took time to pray for all the needs here.
Got to run
Hi everyone. Just back from coffee, a quick stop at the grocery store, walking at the gym and finally a quick visit to the library to pick up a book. I think that is outings for today unless Pat decides she wants to go out to eat this evening.
Pat left a few minutes ago to have two teeth filled. She wasn't looking forward to it as they are lower teeth and apparently in difficult places for the dentist as he told her he wasn't looking forward to it either when she had the exam. She told him she didn't suffer in silence. This should complete her dental work for awhile. I am still facing having the crown work done and will schedule it soon.
I saw the dermatoloist yesterday and had a place removed from my lip. Other than getting the pain medication is really was painless and over in a flash. Sure should have done it much earlier. He thought there was little chance of cancer but sent off a biopsy just to be sure.
Liz, it sounds like you do goo computer maintenance.
Etta Sue, that was good thinking in terms of how to solve Kitty's computer problems and accomplish what she wanted done.
Janet, glad to see that the doctors are finally deciding to do something. Also glad to hear you will have a bed to rest in for a few more nights.
Al, glad things worked out so well for you with your car. I have been told on my older car that if the timing belt breaks it would ruin the motor. Glad they are able to fix your car and that you weren't stranded out somewhere and now have the car back.
Pat, so sorry to hear of the accident and the injuries to your SIL. Back injuries are so hard to heal from, if you ever do.
Liz, thanks for the additonal info on the headsets.
While I was out yesteday I decided to get another wireless mouse for my laptop, which has a much smaller USB receiver to stick out from the USB port. It laser mouse and I really like. Now I am going to install the wireless mouse I was using on the laptop to use here on my desktop. I thought about a wireless keyboard but decided to not go that way at this time.
It is going to be very hot here today, perhaps as high as 97 degrees. It is already very warm this morning.
Judy, my blood pressure yesterday was a little over 100/52. It always runs low but I do take medication to keep the heart from having to work too hard and it is also paced with the pacemaker. However, have always had low blood pressure.
Judy - I wondered that too. Of course it has nothing to do with "freezing," as in cold, but really "seizing" up - like what happens when something isn't lubricated properly. Apparently this particular water pump lacked water, due to a small radiator leak. Anyway, the timing belt hadn't been changed since about 100,000 miles ago, so it was due. Thankfully, these days you can get a "kit" that includes water pump and belt. Costs less that way.
ok That makes more sence. If a person is handy that would save a lot of money. Thankfully both John and Doug are mechanically inclined.
Pat: Thinking of you - and now your SIL and grandson are recuperating from a car crash. This has been quite a year for you.
Janet: It is a good thing you are there to speak up - continue to make your opinions known. Someone has to listen.
Larry: My gums and teeth are feeling better today but with all that work on the very top back tooth, now I have swollen gums - it will get better. Just tell Pat to rinse with warm salted water.
Don went for a walk after I did my walk and he then fixed breakfast. Now he is listening to a DVD from the library with show tunes. Banana bread with chopped pecans - I exchanged almost all of the oil with applesauce and used less sugar. Fat and sugar - the big fight to not eat too much each day.
Hi All-
Janet and Pat you are in my thoughts and prayers today! Hope all is going well and pray so to be...You both have had alot your plates!
It rained more yesterday/night and this morning. The weather man says were to dry up- But the rain was beautiful this morning-I listened to my sermons and it inspired me to go out and just give God lots a praise, so content to let the rain fall, not cold or anything but felt like a great cleansing rain...Joy be to God for all things!!! He watches over us always! :) :) <3
Maybe after Dh comes from work and dinner maybe we'll go for a walk at Beaver Creek State Park...It is a most beautiful park!
I am posting a note I got from my niece this morning, they hosted the family reunion last week. I think it is all self-explanatory, and will save me some typing. Hope you don't mind! And excuse my typos, I'm still adjusting to this keyboard.

Hello, Barb,
I'm so glad you all had a good time. I would have loved the Terry Redlin place, so would Darrel. He loves Terry's work as much as I do.
I am getting very tired of being away from home, and so is Beth--tired in so many ways, poor girl. Today she had two more X-rays and another CT scan. Her feeding tube had plugged last night, and they had to remove and replace it with a new one. She is eating some now, so her nutritional status is improving. She is one tough gal.
Thanks for keeping us in your prayers.
Love,
Janet

>:( >:(THAT'S NOT WHAT I WANTED TO POST!! :ticked: I will try one more time...........
Dear Barb,
We are at Via Christy, St. Francis....it is at 929 N. St. Francis. She is in the burn unit ICU, third floor, room 25-02. And we would welcome visits and prayers!
So far I am still at Ronald McDonald House, and am praying no more babies have to be hospitalized, no more premies transferred here, and no mor high-risk pregnancy women show up! Since it is a children's charity, those get priority. So far, they just fill up and someone moves out, so I don't have to, and I believe it is because people are keeping us in their prayers. I don't have a car here, and Security drives me back and forth, R. Mc.D is only $15 per night, compared to $70+ elsewhere, so it is really a blessing.
I think, after talking to other doctors and her nurses, that what Dr. Jost was talking about was moving Beth out of the ICU, to another floor here which has the same level of care, but will free up this ICU room. They told me today it will be 'weeks' before she will get out of here. Sigh........ I miss Darrel so much, but being here is just too hard on him. I am trying to leave for a couple hours a day, started yesterday, to sort of 'wean' Beth, as I don't know how much longer I can be away from home. Dr. Abou Jaoude told us today that she is getting a little bit better each day, and is no longer critical. He said to her "That is different talk than at first. I told your family when you first came that I didn't think you would make it, but you are strong!" It's been a long journey, and will be even longer, but Beth wants to stay here on earth longer, and I want her to stay as long as she wants to stay.
Yes, believe it or not, there is something you can do from that far away! St. Francis has a website, and from it, you can send messages via email---they print them out in the office and bring them up to her. Her face brightenes each time she gets one, so if you can find that link and share it with others, that would bless us.
I'm so glad Darrel bought me this laptop last week! I'm sitting in one of the waiting rooms, and using the hospital internet, with it plugged in, so not even having to use battery power! I am even learning to use 'finger mouse!' God is good.
Darrel and I still want to come to Minnesota to visit you, and when we do you can take us to Terry Redlin's place. We will look forward to that!
Thanks for the emails, sure helps to know we are thought about and prayers are still going up for us.
Love,
Janet

Whew! I am tired of trying to pare all that down, so just please ignore parts of it. Anyway, it gives you the update on us here in Wichita.
I have been keeping busy with feeding Beth, scratching her nose (it itches a lot!) sponging off her face, repositioning her hands, arms, feet and legs, giving her drinks of water, finding the nurse when her IV thing starts that annoying beeping, reading Scriptures and stories to her, reading her emails and cards, finding places for her balloons (she has quite a few of those now!) and asking questions of the doctors and nurses.
Her main, or I should say, the general doctor's name is Dory Abou Jaoude. He is a very kind and compassionate man and always takes time to explain to us what is going on. Today I asked him what is his nationality, and he said "I am Lebanase. My name, in Arabic, means 'the father of goodness." Now, isn't that a great name for a doctor? He is a blessing. Everyone has been so good, and have done so many things to save Beth's life. It is amazing the resources they have here that are not available in a small hospital.
Now, about that tube....I finally got an explanation I can live with. They say they are allowing her colon to heal around the tube, and that the tube being blocked is actually a good thing, as it makes the waste go out in the normal way (and route.) It still has a little leakage around the tube, and that is what comes out the wound. But it is much less now than a few days ago. So I feel more peaceful about that.
Dr. Langendorf came in this morning and removed the last of the three JP drains she had, so less tubes now.
I must run, sorry to make you read so much. Love you all, and please keep praying---and emailing!!

Janet ~ You typed all you want and we will read all we want....which will be all of what you type for me. When you are typing, it lets us know that Beth is okay for you to leave awhile and that you are dried eyed enough to type! So type away, girl friend! <3
Kitty emailed me today. She was having problems with her photos that she was putting on a different movie and couldn't save the photos in .jpg...only .tiff! She was talking to someone and they said, Kitty...where it says .tiff, scroll down! She did and there was the choice to save as .jpg. I will be so glad when she gets this demonstration over. She is brain dead!
Ivalou and I went to Noblesville and ate Chinese at the China Inn...a buffet. They must have a new cook....all the food was superb! Was always good but today it was outstanding! Then we went to WalMart. I got a new purse. I am having to carry my programmer for the InterStim Therapy all the time and needed a bigger lighter-weight purse. Found one. If I really like it, I will go back and get a winter color. A big slouch purse...I could pack my clothes in there for a weekend!!! Not really...
Then I stopped by the Stoney Creek Golf Course and got two 18 hole green fees with golf cart to auction off in a silent auction at the church picnic, June 28th. Worth up to $90!
Then I came home and mowed the lawn. While mowing I realized I mowed just 5 days ago but it was really high again. And then I came in and showered and washed my hair again. I am turning into a prune...two showers and head washings in 6 hours!!
Oh, yes! It rained this morning...so the Class of 1960 Wiener Roast is canceled! Not re-scheduling...canceling! Suppose to rain tomorrow and Saturday also!(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FFootprints.gif&hash=44496580d083bac067afa63bf86e200c298046a8)

I forgot....Nita, what Liz said about Auslogics is right. You can check it all out at www.auslogics.com. The Auslogics BoostSpeed is free for 15 days then it is a one time purchase of $29.95. That's way cheaper than a guru working on your computer if you don't have a guru friend or relative... ^-^
Janet, I, for one, would read every word you typed or copy and pasted or any way you want to do it. :) Beth is really one strong girl. And she has one strong mom. This is good news, Janet!!
Etta Sue, I went ahead and downloaded the Auslogics that you're talking about. So far I can't find anything it does that Advance System Care doesn't do. I optimize, defrag, plus memory and registry defrag, repair registry, short cuts, clean up (though I usually use ccleaner for that.) There are more tools, but I can't remember them now.I'm sure Auslogics is good, but unless it's better at what it does than AWC, then I think AWC does the same things. There are lots more options if I want to pay for it but so far I'm happy with free.
Now, aren't we faithful to our favorite software? lol I think I will go compare ratings just in case I decide I want it.
My sister is moving back in with me until she leaves for California in November. She's going there to help her daughter while her husband is gone. Her hubby is Mexican. He's lived here since a small boy, and his parents are here too. They have a business, own a home and still are illegal. He wants to go to Mexico and start there to become legalized. Sue is going to help take care of the kids while mom works. Until then, she will get a job here in Coos Bay (she's a very good caregiver)and stay with me.
Tyson, my dog, will be ecstatic. I think he loves her as much as he does me. Maybe more. He sits on her lap all the time she's here visiting. He sits there, head leaned back and stares up at her. You can just see the love in his eyes. He does that to me too. I'm glad he loves Sue. Rocko prefers me, so that works fine. :)
Janet: How nice that you have long-distance offers to help - a bit more encouraging with your news today.
Praying for all who are in stress.
Well, tonight's another hard-to-get-to-sleep night (ummm - I see it's morning now!).
At any rate, let me dash in here first to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Janet! You got there just about a month before I ring the same number of bells. God be with you this new year, comfort, strengthen, and guide you.
I've spent quite some time in reading each post, digesting them, praying over them, etc.
What a precious group of people are on this site!
Y'all have a good day.
Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann i hope you get some sleep this morning. I have had nights like that too.
Happy Birthday Janet!!!I pray today is a more peaceful day than the last few have been.
Got to get the girls off to school. Bye till later
*Ride To Church*
A teenager who had just received her learner's permit offered to drive her parents to church. After a hair-raising ride, they finally reached their destination.
The mother got out of the car and said, "Thank you!"
"Anytime," her daughter replied.
As the woman slammed the door, she said, "I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to God."
*Thanks to Pastor Tim for this joke!*

CWF, Clarksville Womens Fellowship was fun last night. Next month we are starting a Bible Study. I opened my mouth and now I am going to make cards for everyone to help them memorize Bible verses. One Bible study I was in had little cards...maybe 1.5" x3"...that has the Bible verse on one side and on the back side...just the first letters of each word of the verse. Surprising how easy it is to memorize by reading just the first letters. Also I am in charge of making papers for Secret Sisters to fill out so we may know more about them and therefore, what to give them throughout the year.
Then, like Ruth Ann, I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep last night. Thought I might have those old memory verse cards on the desktop but I don't so will have to make them new.
Also, Larry, I am probably the only person around that doesn't have a DVD player other than on my laptop and desktop. Is there a way for me to use my laptop and connect it to my TV so the screen will be larger? The Bible Study has a DVD to show each month and I have CWF here in August. I know I have video/audio in or out on the TV but none on the laptop. I know they used something when I went to guild to project the monitor screen on the overhead screen. What kind of cord?
Nothing much today. Just going to work with my friend in Mexico and print out a form for him and mail it to someone in the states for him. And I have to make phone calls to the class members that doesn't have email and tell them the wiener roast is canceled.
Ivalou is leaving with Betty and Marge around noon to go to a wedding in northern Indiana...will be back Sunday afternoon. I get so lonesome knowing she is gone... :'(<_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_>

Thanks for the birthday greetings! The first thing Beth said when I walked in this morning was "Happy Birthday!" My daughter Diane and grandson Curtis both called with birthday wishes, too, so I know I'm not forgotten. Lonely, but not forgotten.
This morning, they installed a WOUND VAC in Beth's big wound. My goodness, what a process that was! It is to suction the drainage from the wound into a cannister, thus keeping her skin and bedding drier, and also is supposed to begin to draw the wound together. I don't see how that works, though, because they put sponges inside the wound, even back underneath the skin as far as the doctor's knuckles (the ones closest to the thumb.) It was really rough on Beth,. and she vomited when they were about through. Now she feels worn out and is taking a much-needed nap.
Yeaaa! I noticed on the board at R. Mc's this morning that there are three empty rooms, so if they don't fill up today, I am still safe for a while yet. God is so good. :)
Thanks for being such faithful friends here. You really help keep my spirits up and keep me from being so lonesome. God bless you!
Pat, where are you? I miss you.
Happy Birthday, Janet. This birthday will probably go by in a blur as all of your energy is on Beth, but it is still your birth day. Maybe not having to leave R Mc house would be a nice birthday present. :)
It is raining here today. I guess I'll stay in, and maybe bathe the dogs. Or start getting the upstairs bedroom ready for my sis to move in. Not sure when she's doing that, but I want it all ready.
Blessings everyone.
What an experience we had this morning! We decided, as we occasionally do, to go out to breakfast. We went up about 12 miles to Trinidad, a little fisherman's port north of here. There's a fairly long pier there, and next to the land end of it is a place called Seascape Cafe. It's a nice little place, and as you eat you can look at Trinidad Bay, the pier, etc. The pier streches out into the bay about, maybe 100 yards or so. Over on each side of it, and anywhere up to 200 yards or so away from it, many, many fishing boats are anchored. A runabout takes people to their boats when they want to go. On the left side of the pier there's a cove that's probably 80 or 90 yards wide down at the end. On the right side of the cove is Trinidad Head. It's just a relatively small harbor, though there's much more room over on the left side of the pier, where the greater number of boats are anchored.
Well, today, and about 80 yards or so away from the pier, there were four small fishing boats anchored, maybe 10 or 12 feet from each other. All of a sudden, up comes a seal, breaking the surface, and plops himself right into the boat closest to the Head side of the cove. He just flopped around in there, looking over everything. After he'd been in there for, maybe 15 minutes, the "taxi" boat came over to chase him out of the boat. He got way over on the side furthest from them, then, when they got too close, he dived into the water, broke the surface at the next nearest boat, and plopped himself into it. They came over his way, and, when they got too close, he dived in again, and up into the first boat again! He was playing tag with them! He did this whole routine several times. Finall, the taxi people got tired of the game and left him to himself. He simply stayed in the first boat for quite a while, 'til he got tired of it, then back into the cove again. He'd had enough games for one day, I guess.
Hi, friends,
That night's morning's sleep was really good, and I'm refreshed. As usual, have been going through old papers to shred and discard. This job's nearly at an end, thank goodness. It will be SO good to actually be retired!
:P
Janet, yes, God is SO good, all the time. A friend of mine had the wound vac on her feet when she had nonhealing wounds on the bottom of each foot. It was so amazing the way those wounds would be smaller each day. This was during the time the machines were being first marketed, and the rep actually came and photographed the wounds which originally stretched completely from side to side in the arch area of her feet. In 2 months they were totally healed and then she could learn to walk again. So, you've got real cause for hope, I believe.
It's sunny and HOT today in Nashville, and supposed to be that way for the next week - into the mid and upper 90s.
Al, such an intriguing time of it y'all had at breakfast. I really enjoyed your seal tag story.
Y'all have a great day with our Lord.
Ruth Ann
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Janet!
What a neat story, Al. I used to love watching seals, when living closer to the ocean. They seem to have a real sense of humor. You captured it in your post....
A cooler day, here on the island. Nice walking weather and I went down to the library for books that came in. Like to order them on my computer. It is about a one hour walk (return) and really pleasant.
I just finished reading a mystery book, based on 'The Shakers' and found it most interesting. Went into their history and beliefs in depth. Strange how so many things are similar, yet so far apart. Rather sad how it ended after such a long time of struggle. (I mean for real, not the book). This little hymn is rather nice:
'Tis the gift to be simple, 'Tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
:)
Well, I must go and turn the robot loose on my floors. Sure is easier on my back than using a mop. Misty brings in half the garden on a regular basis. Pets!!
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Came to wish you a Happy Birthday, Janet, and am so relieved to see that Beth is doing better. I hope to get over to see you next week so will need to touch base to see when you will be at the hospital & not "on duty". I understand about wanting to be on the spot when the doctors stop by and needing to rub Beth's itchy nose... ;)
Al, you mention Trinidad so I'm guessing being coast & all, you are in CA? Are you familiar with the Larrupin Cafe? The lady that owned it (not sure she is still there...or still owns it), Dixie.... and I were cheerleaders in high school together. I haven't seen or talked to her for more than 55 years. We weren't "best friends", she was a year ahead of me, but she was a fun person to be around. Life gave her some difficult knocks from what mutual friends tell me, but I'm sure she laughs her troubles off.... My memories of her are all good, she had a big heart and kind to everyone. She was also Homecoming Queen all those many years ago. I love your day with the fun loving seal, what a delightful memory.
Ruth Ann, we have nothing but HOT to send on down for as long as our weatherman predicts. Near 100° with lows of mid to upper 70s... and humid. Sorry. :'(
Hello to all.
I know it has been quite a few days since my last post but I can explain. The homework to get these last few credits has been intence but well worth it. As mom has neglected to say (love you) my school's graduation was today. As I am one credit short [therefore taking summer school] I was not included in the graduating class of 2009 however did recieve an academic award. I have the Senior Math and Buisness academic award which has taken a lot of work to acheive.
Mariah is doing many more things now, from walking to dancing to talking to screaming to singing, the list of things she does has grown and mutiplied and it is hard to keepup with all the new things she does.
However it is late and it has been a busy day.
I will hopefully be on in the ext few days
Melaura.
I try to leave this kind of great news to you to give. You can be proud my dear of the hard work and determination you have shown despite the obstacles. Way to go!!!
The weather up here has finally caught up to the season norms. I am not complaining, I love the heat, just not the cold.
Pat how was the funeral? When do you go south?
Off to bed Night all
There were about 900 at the funeral. Nearly all were students.
It was ok. Lots of tears.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FNoahsArk.gif&hash=3bcc15484b145cad5dd9bf7312e443dbbb25046f)
I found out yesterday that a classmate's husband passed away so I called another classmate, Judy, and we went to the viewing last evening and then out to eat Mexican. Judy had never eaten there but said the food was superb. Her first husband was Mexican so she would probably know what superb Mexican food is.
Then it was back home and the dark clouds moved in. Didn't see a sunset last night for the dark clouds. Then lightening was streaking up and down, left and right...really a beautiful sight to see. Then the rains came. For sure we would get stuck going to the woods tonight so I am glad I called off the wiener roast when I did.
Today has been the usual busy Saturday morning plus some added things. After lunch I am to go to Kitty's and play computer again...she is still having problems. Wish we knew what Kitty's register name, password, or use name or whatever was so I could get online at her house with my laptop. I don't have a clue where to find that out and we have tried every name possible that Kitty can think of. If she ever gets a new laptop or desktop, she will need to know. <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo>

Hello from St. Francis. Yesterday Darrel came and surprised me for my birthday. Man, I have never been so happy to see anyone in my life! I was really needing to see him, talk to him, and feel his support. Thank you, God, for Darrel.
Daughter Diane sent me a fresh fruit bouquet for my birthday. Beautiful and delicious! Beth and I mad short work of those three chocolate-covered strawberries! ^-^ There are also plain strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, a bit of pineapple, and two white candy-covered strawberries. Beth loves strawberries, so do I, and Darrel is eating the honeydew, which neighter Beth nor I care for. Very thoughtful and unique gift!
I had calls from several family members and friends as well, and it is so nice to know we are being remembered in our "isolation" here in the hospital.
This moring when I arrived, I got the scare of my life! In Beth's room was a strange man! :o Then a nurse quickly told me they had several burn patients admitted last night, so had moved Beth to MICU on the 4th floor, room 17. I wish they had called me and saved me the shock. The nurse in MICU ran me out and I had to wait until 8:30 to go in and feed her, so I used that time for a good cry. :-[ :'(
Darrel will stay until Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. I'm SO glad he is here!
Al, thanks for sharing the antics of the seal. How I would love watching that show!
Thnaks for all the birthday wishes. I pray next year will be much better. But it was nice to go out to dinner with Darrel, rather than eating hospital food. :)
We promised Beth we will go try to find a Bierock Kitchen her nurse told us about that is near here, and bring her a bierock for lunch, her favorite food. So it'stime to do that now.
Love you all!
Oh! Larry, you asked what time our free nights and weekend minutes kick in---I think it's either 8 or 9, but all hours on weekends. Thanks.
Good afternoon. Can anyone tell me what bierock is.... Janet has completely left me in the dark there!
We have rain. A nice gentle soaking rain. Thank you Lord. The garden was really dry.
John picked up our parts van, The body is in excellent shape, I am wondering what the cost would be to certify it and use ours as a parts vehicle. This has cost us 60 dollars, and the parts we need would have been in the hundreds even at a wreckers.
Well I am making John's meals and baking bread. Must run.
Hi everyone.
I see that once again I am behind time in offering Happy Birthday greetings, but they are heart felt so a big Happy Birthday, Janet. I was happy to read the encouraging news that you shared with us. Also glad to see you are beginning to enjoy your laptop and getting over the learning curve with the touch pad. You posted while I was writing this and sorry to read of your scare but so glad Darrel is there with you this weekend.
I see there are lots of interesting postings since I last posted. Melaura, congrats on your accomplishments. Keep your goal and your dreams in front of you and you will achieve them.
Stacey came out yesterday and spent the night with us. We went to the Green Tomatoe buffet for dinner to celebrate Father's Day as she wanted to get back home and off her foot today. We used the transport chair and she was able to serve herself at the buffet line. I took her back home this morning and then stopped at Walmart for a few things. It is really hot here today. Right now it is 97 degrees and suppose to hit 100 later today. I am staying in the rest of the day.
Etta Sue, you should have two plug in ports on your laptop to be used with a headset. One is for output and one for input. I believe you can get cables to plug into your TV outlets and into these two plugs. I suggest you check with Radio Shack to get more information.
Judy, a bierock is a German food---shredded cabbage, onions and hamburger baked inside a yeast dough. And we did find the right place and Beth managed eat half of hers and keep it down. Praise God.
Beth has develped C. Diff, which is an overgrowth of one of the colon bacterias, caused from being on so many antibiotics for so long. It causes horrible diarrhea, and can be life-threatening. They have pulled out the "big guns" to fight it, with the only antibiotic that kills it. They said it was nearly impossib le that she wouldn't get it, after being hospitalized this long and getting so many antibiotics. Sigh......
This is a larger and more comfortable room, and has two chairs for visitors (the other only had one) so it is a good thing. She will still be getting excellent nursing care, wound care, and have her same doctors. I just wish they had called me, but I'm over the shock now, so it's okay. Beth was feeling really stressed, first time she had mentioned that, but adjusting to all new nursing staff contributed to that, I am sure.
Hey, Larry! Thanks for th advice about the mouse and lap pad for this computer. We went out and got those items this afternoon, and it surely is a lot easier! I got a wireless mouse, as it is smaller and lighter in weight, also has storage on it for the USB plug, pretty neat. I am realizing how heavy a laptop can be, carrying it back and forth every day. But I am quickly coming to love it! :) (Just as some of you predicted.)
I am more tired yesterday and today than I have been since this ordeal began. I plan to go to sleep early tonight.
Beth is still having lots of pain and running fevers. I know you are all still praying, and I love you for that.
Please excuse the mistakes, just chalk it up to my tiredness. Thanks.
Thanks for keeping us "in the know", Janet. Oh, my goodness! That really would be a shock...no wonder you cried.
Larry, thank you for all the good hints you give to all of us. Do you think that the BelArc (I think that's the way it's spelled) would help Etta Sue with Kittie's computer difficulties?
Pat, thank you for reporting on the funeral, too. How difficult it is to lose someone so young, who it seems should have just been ready to live more fully.
Judy, It's wonderful that the car you've received will help y'all. I know about how difficult it is to keep vehicles running! Been there - done that. :-\
It's time to get back to work on the powerpoints for the church service tomorrow.
Sometimes I get information late, which causes me to hurry-scurry on Saturday evenings to get everything done.
Well, y'all have a good evening, and also a great Fathers Day tomorrow.
Ruth Ann
Well the new van is in the driveway. The parts are an identical match. Thank God for that. Doug's Father's day gift to dad was to change the starter. sounds simple enough, except the new van didn't have one. Thankfully we had bought one many months ago. It has fixed the problem we had. There are several other issues but the new van will correct them as well. The outer body is in better condition than ours so that will be another change. Also living on a gravel road, and driving so many miles on gravel our lenses for the headlights are clouded and don't shine out too much. The new van has almost pristine lenses. I will be able to see at night again.
I had Doug Megan the boys, Melaura and Mariah here for supper. Megan provided supper which was a real treat. She is such a great cook! Doug BBQ'ed and Megan made a huge taco salad. I was amazed that there was none left.
It is late (actually very early morning) and I can't sleep. I am having some cereal and then going to head back to bed. In the meantime I have spent time in prayer for the needs here. Janet God IS in control and you can rest on that.
Pat how is Judy and Norm? Also What is the word on Phil?
Ruth How is Alan?
There are so many others. Know you are prayed for.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
We got Kitty fixed up. She was unable to save anything in her PhotoShop CS3. She had already gotten info from PhotoShop on what to do. I guess her problem started from trying to 'Save As' from PhotoShop to her thumb drive. Need to save as to her computer and then copy and paste to thumb drive! Then I went online to find out about Network Security Key...we needed that for me to get online with my laptop at her house. I got online by saving her Lynxes settings to a flash drive and installing them on mine. She also can get on internet with her Wii Fit but couldn't. The thumb drive didn't help there. Then I ask her what was this paper scotched taped on the cabinet for the desktop...then she tried using 'geek' for the password...that didn't work. Then I noticed on that same paper...Encrypted key...**********. It was right there all along and neither of us noticed it. Now she knows that anyone can use that Network Security Key if she wants them to get online at her house! But I don't have to use it...I have her Lynxes brains in my laptop. So we got three things solved yesterday. A good day.
Then they insisted on taking me out to eat. Great day!
I am ready for church, then eat out and naptime this afternoon. The church will be half empty...the Zeller's are in northern Indiana for a wedding!!(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*

Hi everyone. It is going to be a very hot day here in Georgia, in the 90s and feeling like 100 degrees or more due to the humidity. Fortunately the house in very pleasant and I don't have to be outside beyond a few brief moments when going somewhere. Pat isn't feeling good again today and I doubt that she will feel like going to church today. I am ready and will attend.
Janet, sorry to hear of the C. Diff but it sound like the doctors are on top of the situation. Glad to read you got the lap board and the wireless mouse. I should have thought to also suggest a wheeled travel case for the laptop. I got a very nice one for $20 at Fry's so I no longer have to carry mind, just pull up the handle (like you have on luggage these days) and wheel it along with me. It holds the laptop, the lapboard, power adapter, mouse, extra extension cord, in case I need it, and still has room for some other things. It really saves the wear and tear on the shoulder and getting tired carrying it.
Etta Sue, glad you were able to access Kitty's network and that she has resolved her other problems.
Ruth Ann, I am not aware that the BelArc Advisor, which I use, would help solve the problem. It lists license numbers of software installed on a computer and info on the computer.
Judy, hope the parts van helps you extend the life of your van. It sounds ideal, especially have family members who can do the mechanical work.
I got a nice card yesterday from my son and DIL and we had Stacey here Friday night and Saturday morning and we celebrated Father's Day then.
Happy Sunday to you all. :) I went to bed at 8 last evening, woke up at ten and couldn't get back to sleep, so took an Ambien and woke at 6:30. And I am still sleepy.
Beth seems a little better today, ate pretty well, but threw it up a little later. She had diarrhea...got her cleaned up, I brushed her teeth, brushed her hair, read scriptures and stories and sang to her until she felt she was ready for a nap, and now here I am. They are talking about taking her out of ICU maybe later today, so that is real progress!
Larry, Darrel broght the parcel you sent, and it is lovely! Thank you so much for your thoughtful kindness.
Time to nibble some more on that fruit bouquet!
My goodness, I can't believe nobody has posted all afternoon. But glad you are all busy. Darrel left around 3, so I am keeping the vigil alone again. But my Ulysses friends Pat and Burla are coming tomorrow and I am really excited about that.
I was wrong to say they are taking Beth out of ICU. They do plan to move her to Select Care tomorrow on yet another floor. This is managed by Select Care Hospital, and has the same level of skilled nursing care, wound care, etc., as the MICU. She is still having lots of sweats, and can't eat but a few bites. She has already lost 40 pounds!! I would like to lose 20 or so, but certainly not this way. :(
She wants me to stay later with her tonight so the night won't seem so long, so I will do that. I think I will try to watch a movie on my laptop as we can't find anything we want to watch on TV.
We're locking this topic now and opening a new one for you all.
