Morning Devotional...

What God Gives Back

READ: Genesis 22:15-19 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%2022:15-19&version=50)

"I swear by myself declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you" (Genesis 22:16-17a).

When Abraham gave his son back to God, then God said the promise of fruitfulness would be immediately fulfilled. The rivers of living waters would now begin to flow out from him to bless all the nations of the earth as God had promised. It was when Isaac came back from the dead, so to speak, in resurrection power that God said, "Now the fruitfulness of your life will be manifest."

Even God's gifts to us are of no value until we are willing, if necessary, to lose them so that God might reign without a rival in our hearts. When we have to come to that place to which the Spirit of God wants to bring us, that perfect relationship with the Father when God means more to us than anything, and we are even willing to give up the very gift that God has given, then in resurrection power that gift will be a blessing to everyone it touches.

We all have been given gifts from God. Maybe God has given you a special talent, and you are asked to take a job where perhaps you can't use that talent. You wonder about it and perhaps rebel over it. But remember Abraham, and give it back to God. Face the possibility of not using that talent, and the God of resurrection will take that talent and return it to you and make it a blessing to many hearts. Perhaps you have a loved one, and a situation arises in which you have to part from that one or break that relationship. This is a struggle, but Abraham's faith says that if God asks you to do it, then there is blessing beyond if you obey. Maybe you are living in a situation of comfort and happiness, but you are needed in another place that is not as pleasant, and you say, "Lord, why do I have to give up my home and my relationships that I enjoy and go there?" Remember, however, that if God calls, you must obey.

Beyond the apparent heartbreak and death lies resurrection. In the resurrection of that experience, God will give you back that gift and make it a blessing. Is not this the record of every man and woman whose life has ever counted for God, who have been willing to give up the very areas they thought were God's choice blessing for them when God called? In so doing, God made them a blessing. It can be in minor or major areas. This is the principle of the cross throughout all our lives. This is what makes resurrection life possible. When it looks as though we are throwing away every chance of blessing, God transforms in a moment the very thing we give up into the most richly rewarding and meaningful experience we have ever had.

I dare you to act upon this! I don't know what this sacrifice might be for you, but I know this is true, and God has written this account so we may know that this is His way in the affairs of people.

Thank You, Father, that beyond the heartbreak, there is resurrection. Give me the grace to act on this great promise.

Hmmmm!  I wonder where I posted my post that I made this morning.   :-\  I know I posted one but can't find it now!!  If anyone finds it, let me know!!

Church was awesome and then 6 of us ladies went to Applebee's for lunch.  Ivalou and I are going to leave around 4:30 to go to the church picnic.  That should be fun.  It has cooled down quite a bit and is suppose to be cooler all week.

Janet ~ I told her in the post I made this morning that my library allows you to download books onto the computer and you can read them there.  Maybe Darrel could check with your library and see if they have that service also.  But perhaps there are books on the web available anyway.  Have laptop, will travel!

I can't think of what else I wrote this morning.

Thanks Etta Sue.

We went to a different church today, one that is about 15 minutes from home.  It was a good service.  Melaura has a new friend of the male persuasion.  He wanted John's approval to "see" Melaura.  We told her the only place where it would be convenient was at church .  HE came and sat with us.  Seems like a nice enough young man, not born again, but he did enjoy the service and he left knowing the way of salvation.  Pray for Chris that he comes to a full knowledge of Christ as his Saviour,

After we went to a local restaurant for coffee and we (the girls and I) had some fries as well.  After we all had an ice cream.  It is raining and is to rain the most part of the week.

John has to take a fan out of the parts van and put it into the one we are using.  This will be a job for tomorrow.  Hopefully it will stop raining long enough got him to get the job done.

The pastor stopped us and invited himself out for a visit when John is home.  It is so nice to have him do that, much like Pastor Dennis did.  We do miss Pastor Dennis.

Well must go for now, will be back later.

What a L=o=o=n=g day this is!  But I'm sure it is even longer for Beth.  She is getting grumpy, hope that means she is getting better :-\

Etta Sue, I guess I can look for books on the internet (thanks for the suggestion) but it isn't comfortable, and I have to jump up every few minutes to do stuff for Beth, so a paperback book is more convenient.  There is a group of ladies at our Senior Center at home who share books, and I asked Darrel to go get me some there.  Meantine, I will find other stuff to do.

That is a great devotional; thanks Pat and Etta Sue.

I must try to get my mind off going home, or I will soon get depressed.   :( :'(  While I am so thankful to God (and Darrel) that I CAN be here with Beth, I am still homesick.  If I were someplace with Darrel, that would be different.  Sigh............

Also, I am so very thankful to still have my room at the R.McD house, what a blessing that is.

Beth needs to turn again.  See you later.

Janet, obviously you are where the Lord wants you and so He will give you the strength and peace you need.

Pat was planning on stopping in New Hampshire next after the fiddle concert in Vermont and then heading for Virginia.  She expected to be off line until at least Tuesday while they put some more finishing touches on the new house.

Jeanne:  Thanks for the update on Pat's house.  It sounds like perhaps they will finally be able to move in soon.

Janet:  You could be cloned - Never Mind - sorry about all of your stress and Darrel even feeling low. If you want to go to church with someone who visits, mention it - I really think that they would welcome you with open arms and find someone to drive you to service.  Sometimes people forget to offer help and especially as they see you as a strong and very capable person.

Liz:  And, you have concerns about Ralph - prayers for your thoughts.

Larry:  Good idea for Janet to check into the chaplain as she has not mentioned it but surely a large hospital has one on staff.  I am glad that you have some time to read a book.

Etta Sue:  Thank you for helping us into the new week.  Are you having storms and hot weather?  I have been wondering as we sure have the terrible clouds and they all head east.

A wonderful sermon this morning.  We stayed for coffee and I chatted with a gal who is with the Kingdom craft  group that knits prayer shawls & baby things.  They promised to help me so I would like to make some shawls or baby caps for the stash they keep on hand.  There is no quilting group - bummer - as I really would like to help in that way but it is so much more fun to do this in a group than by myself at home.  At home in my basement, that is where I work on my own gifts.  Learning to knit but I can't knit and talk at the same time - yet.  :-[

I can imagine that Pat and Paul will be so glad to get moved into their new home and settled.

Janet, I could never read a book, and enjoy it, on a computer.  I can see how it wouldn't work for you either.  Bless your heart, when this is all over and Beth has recovered, you will likely crash.  God is so wonderful to sustain us during these long trying times.  I can't imagine what Beth would do without you.  I know I've seen in hospitals where, if a loved one is there, and willing to do, the nurses will back off and let you.  So many times we've ask ourselves (my sisters and I when my brother was in the hospital and dying and my mom, and my dad)what would they do if we weren't here??   The nurses were so kind, but were sort of scarce.  I guess it's that they have so many to care for, and they want to get to those who have no one.

A lovely, but windy, day here. The sky is so blue, trees so green, and the colors of flowers everywhere.  I can't thank God enough for making our earth in so many colors.  He only does perfect. :)

Thanks to you all for me moving Pat's devotion here.  I always copy and paste mine but I tried 'moving' Pat's and it worked.  Even looks like Pat posted it in that it has her profile picture on it!

I have to be at my throat surgeon's office by 11am.  Just a check up for him to do the flexible laryngoscopy to see if I have any signs of a new tumor on my larnyx.  I hope some day I will only have to see him once a year or even less.

Our weather has been beautiful...last week in the 90's.  Yesterday at the church picnic it was great!  74 degrees and gusty winds.  We had a silent auction and I paid for a full body massage.  I have never had a massage!  The minister's daughter is trained as a masseuse.  I love Sarah...she is a cutie pie and her personality overflows.  She will even bring her equipment here when I want the massage.

I don't think I would enjoy reading a book online either but if you don't have a book in your hands to read, that would be an alternative.

I had better go get dressed for going somewhere.

Etta Sue:  I was wondering how that happened - you did a great job.

We will surely have to turn the air on today because I can't see any clouds coming from the west and it has already heated up - went for our walk and there was a little breeze that helped so much.

Etta Sue Thank you for the help.

Well the new fan is in the van and will know soon if John's work paid off.  Then on to the chicken coop.  He is putting in a box to house day old chicks.  We will then move Dana's dog house close to the coop to protect the chicks.  She will do a great job.  (Dana is the doberman.)

So many things going on in the lives of those on CP.  May God go with you each step of the way.

Hi everyone.  I have had a busy morning and just got home a little while ago.  After coffee we walked at the church gym.  We had it all to ourselves this morning as Bible School is over and there are no camps there this week.  I then drove up to Kaiser to have blood drawn as have a physical coming up in a few days and this way the doctor will have the test results.  When I got back to our town I stopped at the barber for a haircut and then to the bank to cash some checks.  In a few minutes I will leave again for my Monday men's luncheon.  Today we are eating at Steak and Shake.  I am ready as couldn't eat breakfast this morning.

It is a little cooler here today and much less humid.  I hope we get some rain sometime this week but pretty sure it won't be today.

Janet, I can understand why you wouldn't want to read a book on the computer although there are thousands of books available that are no longer under copyright.  Do you enjoy doing crossword puzzles?  There are a number of sites available, including one that I do everyday on a website called MyWay, which I use for my homepage.  It turns the letters red if I make a mistake.

It is time to leave for my luncheon.

Oh Larry Steak and Shake!!! Such memories you have brought back.  Tifton GA there is a Steak and Shake and we would go into there before delivering at the Target just around the corner.  I love their chili and noodles with extra cheese.

Well the van is running properly with the new fans.  Now we are working on the chicken coop to get it ready for the chicks tomorrow.  It is always an exciting time having new babies in the House, except that these will be in their official home.

I will be back later.

Another Monday, and this is day 32 here in the hospital.  The days and evenings are really long........

Beth ate good this morning, but it all came back up.  She did eat a banana later and it stayed.  They are really concerned about her nutritional status; she has lost over 40 pounds so far.  But she does drink the Ensure and that has a lot of nutrition in it.

I found an old Readers' Digest Condensed book at the R.McD; and it has a book in it called Voices from the Kansas Frontier, really interesting, about the women who were the pioneers in Kansas.  I don't want to carry it back and forth as I walk, so am reading it in the late evenings there.

Larry, I don't care too much for crossword puzzles, and I am finding it harder and harder to concentrate.  I am blaming it on fatigue.......and stress.....That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

We had a visiitor today from home, one of Beth's caregivers from the care home.  Janice had shoulder surgery here in Wichita and came today for a checkup.  Her visit was like having a fresh breeze and sunshine come through the room!  Too bad she couldn't stay longer.

Beth was up in the Barton chair for an hour this morning, and they changed her wound vac dressing right after she ate lunch.  She has to have morphine before they do that, so now she is napping.

I think Darrel will be coming up for the weekend, Maybe on Thursday.  I sure hope so, anyway!

Hoping to read a good report from you, Etta Sue--and thanks for being so faithful in sending messages.  Love those short funny quotes.  Smiles are good medicine.

Thanks also to Jane, Marilyn and Shirley!  Please keep those AND the prayers coming!

A new week and so far we have had 2 Storm's.
This computer is causing grief, I must type ever so slow. We have high speed but something is not doing its thing. Hope it is not the memory board.

I am thinking of you all, I am headed over to the Prayer & Praise.

I got a good report from the throat surgeon.  He said I am one of the few that have had a tumor on their larnyx and it didn't return in a year or two.  It was two years ago this month that I had the second surgery to laser the area to kill the cancer cells.  He could barely tell which side he worked on and I don't have to return until December 28th!  That's not a year but better than 3 months!

Vista has a sidebar with gadgets.  I downloaded a mini-radio and have found Acappella.  It is Christian music.  Love it.  Especially listening to it on my Bose speakers!!

Pat ~ I imagine all of us have missed our exit at least once.  I did it in Missouri.  Ivalou and I were just talking and we went 24 miles out of our way.  I could have made a U turn but knowing me, I would have gotten caught making an illegal U turn on the interstate!

Today is Euchre at a classmates home.  I just got a call from another lady and I will ride with her to Bev's.  Best get on the ball and get caught up here and be ready when Karen arrives. Also doing some laundry.

Cloudy today but the temperature is wonderful!!

You aren't a very chatty bunch today.  ;)

Etta Sue,   on your throat checkup!  Sounds like a God thing to me!

News from the hospital:  they are attempting to wean Beth off IV antibiotics and have her take them orally.  The drawback is that they cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.  So far, her tummy hurts and she feel nauseated, but no vomiting.  She is still eating very small amounts.

Someone from downstairs just brought the mail, with the comment, "I sure wish I was this popular!"  There were 8 pieces of mail!!!  :) :)  My sister sent a pillowcase embroidered with "Jehovah Rophe., the Lord who heals you.  Exodus  15:26."  The rest were get well cards and cards of encouragement.  Three of them were signed by dozens of friends from the Ulysses Senior Center.  That sure brightened our day!   8) :)  Whatever do people do without friends----or without the Lord?

This is day 33 here, and counting.........I was feeling really low a couple of days, but yesterday I sort of got my "second wind" and feel I can keep going.  Praise God.

Interesting note:  personnel here at the hospital keep asking Beth and me if we are sisters!  She doesn't seem to mind, and it makes me feel I may not look as worn as I feel!

Pat, are you anxious to get moved into that great new house?  It sounds like a mansion!  ;)  So glad you and Paul found each other.

Darrel will be coming up again this weekend.  Wish gas wasn't so expensive.

Beth sat up in the Barton chair today for an hour again.

Sorry, I am rambling.  See you later.

Our chicks arrived today.  The enclosure john built was too big so we went back to the hard plastic swimming pool and put them in that.  A little more confined and we are able to keep them warmer that way.  When they get out of the pool we will remove it and give them the larger area,  That will be a couple of days to a week.  Cimi is enthralled as she was the last time.  I will try to get some pictures and post the updates as I am able.

Must get some mowing done while it is dry.  We are to have rain for the better part of the week Yippee good for the garden.

Bye for now.

Hi everyone.  We are having a really beautiful day here in Georgia, espeically this morning when it was a bit cooler and low humidity.  It has warmed up to 90 degrees now and the wind is blowing, something we don't have too much of down here.

Stacey had to call 911 after midnight to go to the ER due to angina she could not get stopped.  She had been having it on and off all day and it had been controlled with nitro, but after midnight she took 4 nitro five minutes apart without any effect.  We are told to do three and then call 911.  They did a chemical stress test on her this morning and were suppose to do the second part of an echo, I think Pat told me, after 3 pm.  We should hear from her then.  If they don't keep her in the hospital tonight we may need to go down to get her back across the street to her apartment.  We will be down there tomorrow around noon as I have an appointment to have my pacemaker checked.  I know Stacey is in God's hands so am trying not to worry since there is not one thing I can do about this situation that will be of any help to her.

Pat, glad to read that the house is in final stages of preparation.  I know that carpeting and applicances are usually among the last things to be done before it is finished.

Happy Birthday to Iain, Oldiesmann, and Jeannine.

Judy, little chicks are so cute.  I remember when we used to get them in the spring on the farm as I was growing up.

Janet, it sounds like another improvement in Beth's condition.  Also really glad to see that you are not feeling a down as you were for a couple of days.  So glad that Darrel will be spending the weekend with you and Beth.

Etta Sue, it is always encouraging to receive good news in followup appointments, especially when it involves something as serious as you had.

Ruth, that doesn't sound like the motherboard of your computer but rather something related to the browser you are using.  You could do a check by loading wordpad or notepad and seeing if you have the same typing problems.

My good friend Rod gave me a RAZR Motorola phone that is a beauty.  It was the state of the art 3 or 4 years ago but he was no longer using it.  I ordered a new battery for it, which came yesterday, and recharged it yesterday afternoon.  I spent the evening trying to learn how to use it.  Since I have had a Motorola phone many of the functions work the same.  This is just a much better phone, with a nice built in camera and it has blue tooth capability.  I am sending my old phone to Pat's sister as it is better than the one she has.

Janet:  I don't write as often but please know that I never forget about you and Beth and Darrel.

Pat:  On missing a turn-off.  We have all done something odd and while Don was snoozing in Montana, I turned off to get gasoline at a huge bridge and turn-off and suddenly found the car surrounded by sheep.  We still laugh about it - another bridge to nowhere!  And, hundreds of sheep from wherever.  No gas or any buildings either.

It is hot here today and I am grateful for air conditioning even though I would very rarely use it.

MY TRIBUTE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/mytribute.mid)
(Click to hear music)

by Andrae Crouch

How can I say thanks
for  the things you have done for me?
Things so undeservered,
Yet You gave to prove Your love to me?
The voices of a million angels
Could not express my gratitude.
All that I am and ever hope to be
I owe it all to Thee.

To God be the glory,
To God be the glory,
To God be the glory,
For the things He has done.
With His blood
He has saved me,
With His power
He has raised me,
To God be the glory
For the things He has done.

Just let me live my life
Let it be pleasing, Lord, to Thee;
And should I gain any praise,
Let it go to Calvary.

With His blood
He has saved me
With His pow'r
He has raised me,
To God be the glory
For the things He has done,

Ohhh, enquiring minds want to know why July 15 is so special.  I know it's very special for Judy as she was born on a very hot day back in 1949 and I won't ever forget that day when I got a gift of a new baby sister!

Thank you Pat for that!   <3

Ruth Ann why so special? Does your free time become even more free?

I nightmared all night that all the chicks died.  It was either too cold or the cat got in to them or a wild animal...... Not a restful night at all.  When I checked them this morning they were all alive and chirping.  No loss yet.

It is overcast and rainy today, for the July 1st holiday it is not good for fireworks displays.  I remember about 10 years ago the girls were at a friend's home planting a flower garden.  At lunch the gentleman prayed God would send rain to water the garden.  The girls were so upset because they wanted to go to the fireworks as had been promised. It was sunny and hot at lunch..... There were no fireworks that year as it rained.  Such was their belief in God answering prayer.

Well I must run.  I'll be back.

Ruth Ann, I think I know what you mean, but will let you explain.  ;)

I have been watching the choppers come and land on the roof of the parking garage across the way, and there is one now that has been there for over an hour.  They rushed the patient into the elevator and then into the hospital, came back and have been standing by the chopper talking ever since.  Oops!  There it goes now! :)

Two nurses came in with the right equipment this morning and gave Beth a REAL SHAMPOO!!  I could tell how wonderful that felt, by the smile on Beth's face!   :)

They are coming soon to get Beth up in the chair again.  And I think I will take her Mom down to the cafeteria to eat something.  Sure wish I had someone to eat with me, eating alone isn't fun.  But I shouldn't complain, lots of people don't even have anything to eat.  :-\

See you later.....this is Day 34.......... :(

Half of 2009 is history!!

Busy day.  I have mowed and then went with Ivalou to Lapel to eat, go to CVS and the bank.  Now Ivalou, Betty, Marge and I are leaving at 4:30pm to see a movie and to eat out.  Tomorrow is Betty's birthday so we are celebrating it with her.

It has been quite cool today.  Only 65 degrees now and cloudy with dark clouds.  I thought it was going to rain while I was mowing but it didn't.

Hi everyone.  It is hot here this afternoon, up to 93 degrees but the humidity isn't terribly high.

Stacey was briefly admitted to the hospital yesterday but then was released as the testing they did found nothing amiss with her heart.  They provided a voucher for a cab to get her back across the street to her apartment so we didn't have to drive all the way down there for that purpose.

After coffee this morning Pat and I headed to Atlanta as I had an appointment for my normal 6 month check on my inplantable pacemaker/defibulator.  I dropped Pat off at Stacey's apartment as we had taken some frozen food to her and she could spend the time with her while I was at the doctor's office.  My appointment went well and everything checked out well.  We then went to TGI Friday's for lunch as Stacey can get there easily in her powerchair.  We got home about 2:30.

This is the first of 4 weeks where I don't have choir practice on Wednesday evening so am in for the day.

Janet, I can relate to Beth and getting her hair washed.  I remember when I had my first heart surgery it was several days before it could be washed and how good it felt.  Even the powder type cleaning helped a little bit but not like the actual shampoo and water.

Well. Hi to everyone. I'm just glad that I make it through the day.

Right now I'm in Puerto Rico and it is hot, humid but windy but I thank God for all of His love and mercy.  I ask you guys for prayers for my father. He is 79 years old, he live in New York but his breathing condition it is not the best less than 60%. He is been with oxygen 24/7 for couples of months and now his condition it is getting worse. I just want him to accept the Lord before his last breath.

I have faith and I'm happy for all God's blessings in my life but today and just for a moment, I felt sad. So please before you guys go to bed, put my old man (my father) into the arms for our Heavenly Father, so He does the miracle of the salvation in my father's life.

And I know you guys are a happy bunch and I am sorry to bring this situation up but I need all the help I can get.  By the way, this is a great website.  God Bless You All.

Thanks, Wallace Rivera

PS: His name is Ruben, but God knew that.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/turn-your-eyes-upon-jesus.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus."
Hebrews 12:2

Words & Music: Helen H. Lemmel, 1922

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Refrain

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conquerors we are!

Refrain

His Word shall not fail you He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Refrain

Hello Wallace!  Sending prayers for you and your father.  Welcome!  Never feel sorry about bringing your family situation in here as we can all relate to many tests in life.  Sometimes we write back and sometimes we don't but just be assured that many read and pray over the posts.  I have never been to Puerto Rico - my husband was there on a business trip once many years ago and he brought home three tall iron candle holders - love them.  He really enjoyed PR.  How are you doing?  It was hot and windy here today, certainly not humid in Colorado.

Larry:  Hi - Stacey seems to be in a fragile time again.  I hope and pray that this settles down for her sake & yours as well.  We have a good friend who will have his pacemaker moved to another area because of infection - I have never heard of such a thing.  It surely sounds like Stacey is close to the hospital and to other amenities.

Ruth Ann:  After the 15th. - guess I will have to wait for the answer.  It does sound like retirement has been much healthier for you - less headaches???  Don's BP dropped as soon as he announced retirement so sometimes it can be so good for a person and they don't realize it until they actually quit the job.

Speaking of jobs - a niece in Texas is really struggling as she continues with work but husband has been laid off one of his many jobs and in early 50's is cleaning slate stones - unbelievable and it is so hot there now.  We feel so sorry for him - he has really gone from one job to another but is great in sales - nothing is selling now.

We are going to the cabin tomorrow - this is a big cabin that was foreclosed on & tomorrow there will be 17 doors delivered to all be hung indoors.  Still not finished with electricity and water but they have been working.  The two of us just hope to paint for the day - bringing a cell phone, change of paint clothes, boots in case it rains & is mud all over, t.p. for the outhouse that is up the road.  Son reminds me to hold the door as it swings wide open.   ;D

Father, I do pray for Ruben.  I pray that You will do  what is impossible for us to do.  I pray You'll open his heart to realize that You are God and that Jesus Christ gave Himself for us on the Cross.  Oh move him by Your Spirit to repent and believe.

:)  Hi to all.   I am so glad to be back posting. :)     I have missed not being on the C.P. as things have been very busy in our lives.  Please pray for my son Daniel as he has marital problems and my brother -in-law and I had to go app. 3300 kms round trip to bring home from New Brunswick.  Then 3 days after that we left for our vacation and that was an other 3300 kms round trip so my new mini van got a lot of kms very quickly.
We had a wonderful time in Virginia  at my sister-in-laws and she looked after us so good. <3

Well it is late and I have read some of the post's and of course always interesting.

Wallace:  Will remember your father and what ever the Lord's will is it will be done.

Larry:   Say hi to your daughter and hope that she feels better.   I hope that you are taking it easy and not doing to much

Pat:Hope that Paul and yourself are also well and that things are going well with the house. I wished that we could have come and seen you both on our way home but not possible.

Must go to bed as I have to get to go the mission God bless you all. :coffee:

In the same way I'm praying for all of you my new friends. My God change the natural to the supernatural. We just have to wait and believe.

Hi Wallace

Glad you decided to join us.

I too will be joining in with the others in prayer for your farther Ruben for salvation and healing.

My Mom just turned 79 on June 30th, she has been living with cancer for years and all the doctors at ECU school of medicine are amazed. They tell her that they just can't understand what kind of body she has to be able to fight this dreaded disease off. We know though don't we. GLORY BE TO GOD!

Lord we want to thank you right now for what you are about to do in Ruben's life. We know that all things are possible with you so we pray for healing and most of all for salvation for Ruben. We also pray for peace for Wallace in these trying times. Lord we ask these things in your Son's Holy Name. Amen

Don

God morning.  Yes God is in control.

It is a very cool day here in the north.  The temp in the chicks last night was 75*F.......OUCH  They need at least 90.  So Kass and Elizabeth put up more plastic for tenting and gave them food and water.  This morning the temp is back up.  We have White Rock birds if anyone knows about birds, and I am told they are the most fragile.  God is good as they seem to be quite hardy!

I sent birthday greetings to Iain, Michael, and Jeannine yesterday, and I cannot find my post.  It must have gone into cyberspace,  Soooo

Happy Birthday Iain, Michael, and Jeannine!!!!

Gord give me a call around 6 or so.

Kass got the mowing done yesterday, We will have to mow again tomorrow rain or not. Hopefully we can mow between showers. Today we have to do more weeding.

Well Time to check out the the rest of the posts.

Wallace ~ Welcome to Christian Photographers.  I have prayed for Ruben's salvation.  God is good!

Larry ~ I pray for Stacy and her condition and thanked God for your great report on your pacemaker.

Janet ~ Is there a facility closer to home that could care for Beth?  How great that would be!  I know you are growing weary but stoic in your decision to stay with Beth!  Just wish I was nearer to visit with both of you.  And using Skype is a no-brainer.  You can do it.  It's easy.  Just download the program and Skype away!  When you get it downloaded let us all know and we will give you our Skype names!

The movie was very good.  We changed our minds on what to see.  We were going to see 'My Sister's Keeper'....a sad story of a couple having another daughter to be a candidate for a bone marrow transplant for their dying daughter.  But we decided we wanted to be happy instead of sad, so we saw 'The Proposal' with Sandra Bullock and Betty White...so you know it was a romantic comedy!  Sandra (Margaret) said she was engaged to her editor assistant, Ryan Reynolds (Andrew) so she wouldn't be deported to her native country, Canada.  Funny.  After that the four of us went to McCallister for dinner.

This morning has been so busy.  Trash day and I had so much that I put it all in the trunk of my car and 'drove' it to Kaye Don's driveway!

Then I set a trap to see if I can get a mole.  I not only have one mole working in my yard, I think I have a village!  Mole hills everywhere when I mowed yesterday.

Then when I came back in I had a message from step-daughter, Rhonda, on the answering machine.  She wanted to know if I had her dad's discharge paper from the Army.  I know I copied it before and sent it to her...she is into genealogy also.  But I hunted in three places and finally found it.  It is barely legible now.  But I called her and found out she wants it because her sister in California needs it to join the VFW there!!  I have copied the paper front and back and it is in the mail.

Rhonda didn't ask how I was or anything...just wanted the discharge paper.  Even asked me to send the original and I told her 'NO'.  But to make several copies of what I am sending since I am getting older and may not remember where it is the next time.

Quite cool for July here in Indiana.  But I am loving it!

HELLO!  Day 35 finds little change apparent to the eye, anyway, here in Select Specialty Hospital.  Nobody has come in to discuss transfer plans for Beth.  She is eating better, lost breakfast but not lunch, so far.

For God is not willing that any should perish, but that all may come to repentence.....That is God's will for Ruben.  And I add my prayers for someone to come across Ruben's path and share the Good News of the gospel with him.  What wonderful news it is!!  God is not mad at you!  God LOVES you!  God wants you to spend eternity with HIM!

Don't we serve an awesome God?  How thankful I am that I answered his loving call to open the door of my heart to Jesus.

Darrel plans to drive up tomorrow, and we will probably go to Salina to our youngest daughter's for a barbecue on Saturday.  I feel it is all right now for me to be gone for several hours, and Salina is about 90 miles from Wichita.  It will be a nice and welcome break for me.

My friend Pat will check at the care home where Beth lived before, to make sure her name is on the waiting list, or if they have empty rooms at present.  Not sure what the situation is now, as the administrator and two of the RNs have quit.  They only had five RNs!  So that has to hurt.

Larry, glad you didn't have to make the extra trip to Atlanta to get Stacey across the street, then go again for your appointment.  Bless you.

I think I will go see if I can walk some kinks out while Beth takes a nap.

A big WELCOME to Wallace!  Great to have you with us! :)

Thanks, Pat.  That pastor who was here some time ago (don't ask how long- :-\) came again today, visited a bit, gave us a verse--Isa. 41:10, and prayed for us.  That was a blessing.

We have a new, young, beautiful, and on-the-ball doctor named Sarah Michael, and she is going to get us some answers!!  At least we know now that we will be here for at least another week.  Her main surgeon has been off for a while, will be back on Monday, so should be checking on her.  He is really the one who will make the big decisions.  I tell them that if she needs to be here, that is fine, we will stay---but I would like some idea of how much longer it will be.  It's hard, living in limbo.....

I am going to watch the rest of Glenn Beck.  Later, peeps!

The dogs all broke off their leashes last night while we were at the fireworks.  So today I went and got the parts needed to fix what was broken, and reattached the dogs.  I think they were after the cats going around the chicks home.  Dana is in protect mode with them.

While out I was  able to pick up some rhubarb.  so tonight i will clean it and tomorrow I will prepare it.  Ever hear of rhubarb apricot jam?  I an going to try it this year.  My friend calls it rhubricot jam!

Must go  be back later.

I am praying for the needs here, Love you all.

Can you say,
"Jesus Christ is Everything to me!"
or
Are You Lukewarm?

I just took ten minutes to watch this video.

I pray as I post this that many of you will take the time to watch it and listen to Paul Washer as he speaks about Jesus Christ being everything to us.

Hi everyone and welcome to Wallace.  I understand your concern for your father and will remember him in my prayers.

Thank you for the expressions of concern and support for our daughter.  She saw her regular cardiologist yesterday, who had access to her records from her ER visit and nuclear stress test and other tests this week, and he told her they could have easily kept her hospitalized for 3 or 3 days.  He also told her she certainly did the right thing to call 911 and go to the ER and to do the same if this all happens again.  He put her back on Plavix for her heart.

Yesterday was an interesting day for me as had my first experience with using Blue Tooth to connect between my laptop and my RAZR cellphone.  I had also struggled in getting some software set up to manage data, photos, ringtones, etc. on my computer.  I asked my friend Rod to help me and he came over about 4 pm and we got the blue tooth working.  Then last evening I was able to download updated software for VISTA and get the management software for the phone on my laptop and worked on my contacts using the management software.  If you haven't done this I am sure this means nothing to you but it was interesting.

Janet, I read in another posting about your cellphone bill and almost fainted considering I had talked with you during that time and helped run up that bill.  I had no idea about your limited minutes.  If you have the chance this weekend, when Darrel is there, you might want to pick up and inexpensive headset with built in microphone and give Skype a try.  It really works.  If you get a call you will hear it ring if you have your operating (and don't have the earphone portion of a headset plugged in).  If you don't have the computer running Skype will act as an answering machine and you could call back when you do.

I would like to comment on each posting but will constrain myself as this is already long enough for one day.

I was up earlier today than usual.  While fixing breakfast I heard a thud at my picture window.  When I came in here, Inky was watching out the window.  I looked and a Robin was sitting in the grass fluttering his wings.  But one wouldn't move.  He eventually moved to a bush and now is gone.  I am hoping and praying that he was only stunned and that he is somewhere healing some more and will be singing soon.

Holiday weekend in America.  Holidays are sad for this widow.  My son called last night.  Tony, Charlene, her father, her brother and her nephew are on their way as I am typing to the Blue Ridge Parkway on their cycles.  Charlene rides with Tony so there are four cycles.  Pray that they all stay safe and dry on this trip.

I would love to be going somewhere this weekend but I don't want to miss church.   We are a small church and every Sunday they ask if there are any anniversaries for the coming week.  I want to stand up and state that I have an anniversary and tell the congregation that today is  my one year anniversary of attending Clarksville Christian Church. I asked the preacher if that was okay and he said 'I would love for you to do that!'  (I would never do that at my old church but this little church feels like family to me)

It is bright and sunny.  Suppose to be warmer today that the past few days.  I don't know what is in store for me today and tomorrow.  Just want to be ready so that if someone says, 'Let's go....' I can be ready in a few minutes!

Good morning!

:-X :-X  Oh, Larry, I am so sorry!  I wish you hadn't read that, in fact I'm sorry I posted anything about the phone.  :'(  Your call was an encouragement to me, and worth any money it might have cost.  Sarrel told me, when I told him he needed to go discuss it with Alltel, that he had already paid it, and for me not to worry.......a bit late for that.   :(

It is sort of overcast here this morning, and I am eagerly anticipating Darrel's arrival sometime around noon.

I'm going to watch the 700 Club, then come back!

:-[ Where did the Modify button go?  Who is Sarrel??  Of course, I meant Darrel!

Etta Sue, I hope you have a fun holiday weekend, even if your "kids" are not with you.  God always is-- ;).

Now I will finish watching the 700 Club with Beth, then go back and watch the video Pat gave the link to see.

Hi Everyone...

Changes, changes!  I'm still in Falls Church!!!  We didn't go yesterday.  Not sure what our plans are for today yet either.

Glad you enjoyed that video, Don.  I'm still thinking about it as well.  It really spoke to my heart.

Janet, I'm sorry about your phone bill.  I didn't read anything about your bill.  Where did you post it?

The "modify" button is still there but if you temporarily got logged out, you wouldn't see it as no "guest" (which you are if you aren't logged in) can see the "modify" button.

:-\ Pat, if I weren't logged in, I couldn't post.  And I still don't see the modify button.  I hate it when I make typos, so I use it a lot!

Darrel still hasn't arrived, I just called and he said he is about 10 miles out.  After he left home, he couldn't remember for sure if he had turned off the water--so he went back to make sure, thus losing some time.  He was about 15 miles from home when he turned back.  Anyway, he will get here soon.

We (Beth and I) had a real shocker a bit ago.  Her eldest (adopted) sister Denise and her husband Ken walked in!  Denise hadn't even called to check on Beth in 3 weeks.  AND...they sprung the news that they are on their way to Hawaii--moving there to live!!  :o  Not sure what brought that all about, but said they will live with Aaron (son) for a while.  Denise already has a job to report to, and he will be looking for one.  I don't understand any of it, but seldom understand what drives those two.  :(  They do not keep in touch with me at all, even though they live(d) in the same small town. Life sure is complicated sometimes. ???

I am going to shut down and put away my computer now, so I will be ready to go eat lunch with my sweetheart when he shows up!  8)

OH!  There is that button!  So big I didn't see it! :-[

I will be brief my prayers for everyone whatever the need God knows all.  My heart is heavy but God is in control always.

Larry: When last here I mentioned issues with computer - after doing several things I thought about the wireless keyboard changed the batteries and now all is well. I then phoned my daughter telling her and you should of heard her laugh.

I put strawberries in the freezer made up rhubarb sauce with and without strawberries they also are in the freezer.  Now it is to wait for the peas and beans, oh yes I need the raspberries as well.

Hi everyone.  I have a few minutes before leaving for coffee so will go ahead and post for today so I don't forget to later.  It is a pretty day here in Georgia and the big Peachtree Road Race is being run as I type.  It goes right past where our daughter lives but her apartment is on the backside of the building not facing the street so won't see it.

We have no special plans for today.  We will attend a meeting this morning and perhaps go out to lunch and then just enjoy a quiet afternoon and evening.  Last evening we watched more of the Planet Earth Discovery series.  The two programs were on Forests and Caves.  They have some of the most unbelievable photography you have ever seen, including film of some animals rarely, if ever, filmed.  My friend Rod bought the video series and has loaned us three of the DVDs.  I think there is one more DVD.

Janet, I certainly didn't mean to cause you any concern with my comments.  It is one of those live and learn experiences in life.  Glad to read of the unexpected visitors for Beth and you.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend with Darrel.

Ruth, glad you found the problem.  We have a wireless keyboard that we got several years ago and neither my wife or I really liked it because the battery would just die.  However, we do like the wireless mice.  I ones I have, which I got recently for my desktop and laptop, monitor the battery strength so will know when they need to be changed.

Pat, hope you have a good trip to Winchester.  Sure it is thrilling to begin to see a house that will be ready soon, although also know that involves a lot of work in both locations.

Etta Sue, I think it is wonderful that you have such joy in your church and I sure agree with your pastor that a comment to that effect at the appropriate time is a very nice thing to do.  It speaks well for your church.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY...AMERICA!!

Dreary looking today and predicting showers and thunderstorms.  Hope not since there are a lot of picnics today!

What a lazy day I had yesterday.  I played games on the laptop and watched some TV.  Larry, a lady loaned to me her Planet Earth DVD's.  I should have watched them!

Pat ~ Have you decided what you are going to do for internet when you get moved?  Satellite, perhaps!

I think I am going to see if Ivalou wants to go to Noblesville with me.  I give Inky pumpkin everyday for fiber in her diet.  I couldn't find the small cans so I bought the big can.   Well, it has the sugar and spices and Inky just turned her nose up to it!  Ivalou rescued me...she had a can of 100% so I traded her cans of pumpkin...(I bought two cans of the ready for pie shell pumpkin)  So I am in search of pumpkin for Inky...100% pumpkin.

And of course, we will eat out somewhere...  :roflBig:

Al:  How are you doing with your health issues and are you able to sleep in your bed yet ? :)

Well Kassie is off to camp, Elizabeth is helping Melaura settle into her new home, and John is home.  He is feeding and watering the chicks and dogs then we are heading out to Powassan briefly.

To date we have not lost a chick!  With all the cold weather we have had that is surprising.  We have had 2 heaters and a heat lamp going to keep them warm.   Kass put up a tarp and that kept the heat in.  The girls are quite keen at working with the animals.  The birds have outgrown the kiddies plastic swimming pool so that has been removed and they have quite a large area to grow into.

I won't be back tonight so God bless you all.

Well, Ivalou didn't answer her phone so I went to Noblesville by myself.  First to Bob Evans for lunch.  Then to four grocery stores and finally ordered a case of Stokely's 100% pumpkin for Inky.  Then to WalMart.  I got a DVD player.  I was probably the only person in my county that didn't have a DVD player.  I watched some of the Planet Earth DVD yesterday afternoon.

Then Ivalou called and wanted to do something last evening.  So we went to Anderson to IHOP and then to Fashion Bug to look around.  We came back and I went in her house and we watched a movie...'New in Town' with Rene Zellweger and Harry Conick Jr.  Funny show.

I am all ready for church and it is a cloudy, yucky looking day.  Not raining but looks like the sky could open any minute.  Not a great weekend for Hoosiers this holiday.

Hi everyone.  It looks like a lot of folks were enjoying the holiday weekend here in the States or otherwise busy and not many postings since yesterday morning.  It is overcast here today and rain predicted for this afternoon and again some tomorrow.  We can really us it as things are looking pretty dry.

We attended a meeting yesterday morning and then went to Ruby Tuesday's.  We had gotten a 2 for one coupon on the computer and it saved us $11 on the meal.  I had their crabcakes, which were delicious with large chunks of crab in them and enjoyed a trip to the salad bar.  We had a quiet afternoon and watched a couple of movies on Netflix and just took it easy.

Unfortunately, our neighbors, who have an in-ground pool, played loud music until midnight and were out at the pool until 2:30 am, when it finally got quiet.  They were firing fireworks at midnight. Fortunately I could sleep in this morning and this is only the second time in three years that they have done this.

This is the month that the choir doesn't sing in the choir loft at church so do not need to be there 30 minutes early.

Etta Sue, hope you enjoy the Planet Earth series.  You will see animals and incredible sights that most of us would never have the opportunity of seeing.  It is amazing photography.

Judy, glad you are having such good experience with your young chicks.

Hi Don.

Gord, I do try to keep busy but am finding I am spending more time in my easy chair as my evening seem to start earlier.

Larry - sorry for your neighbors making so much noise.  I'm thankful about where we live - in a senior mobile park. We hear the "cannon crackers" over on a street about a quarter mile away, but no noise here in the park at all.

Thanks, Gord, for asking about my  health issues.  I'm doing pretty well with most of them. My BPH is getting me up too many times each night, but I'm taking a new medicine that we hope may solve that, though it hasn't "kicked in" yet.  If that happens, then I can go back to trying the bed again.  Meanwhile, though, I certainly should be thankful for the recliner we have.

Our church is having  a baptism this afternoon.  It's going to be at a place called "Moonstone Beach," where there's a llittle river that flows past a beach then into the ocean.  Pray that people who come by will see, get curious, and listen to what goes on.

Sun with cloud bursts otherwise a nice day.

It is really just a quiet relaxing day,

Marilyn:  How are you I really like your pictures. Is PSP a free program?

Al:  Our neighbor hood is quiet but I would really enjoy living in a retirement community, but someone else here does not agree.

Al - that seems a wonderful setting for a baptism, hope that others were drawn in interset and then stayed to listen enjoy and feel the understanding

A whole weekend spent watching a Kite festival in Sunderland and a great time had by all the family, even my seventeen year old daughter chose to go back today rather than go to her boyfriends

Boy, we are a "party hearty" bunch here, aren't we?  Darrel and I drove up to Salina,  visited grandson Mark, then out to daughter Kerri and family...spent a quiet afternoon, then went down the road a little way to a place selling fireworks.  They bought some for the kids and grandkids.  Back to their house where they prepared hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill, also had beans and other trimmings.  And before the fireworks show could get started, we excused ourselves and drove back to Wichita.  I had hoped Beth and I could view the city fireworks from her 5th floor  window, but could barely see them because of high rise buildings between us and the stadium where they were shooting them.

Anyway, not an exciting Independence day.  But as I looked at Old Glory flying high and proud, I did praise God that I was born in America, in a much more innocent and free period of time than today.

We still hope to have some more definitive word as to a release date for Beth when her main surgeon returns tomorrow.  Darrel plans to leave in the morning.  It has been wonderful having him here.  We attended an Evangelical Free Church this morning and really enjoyed it.  This is the one a former pastor of my neice now pastors.

Beth's friend Mindi surprised her with a little visit today!  That made her smile!

:)   Good evening to all on C.P.     Well we have had a very busy weekend as we had all of our family here and also the grandkids. so it was a wonderful time.  We actually celebrated my daughters birthday and one of her friends so there was lots of cooking going on and others brought lots of good food. The parents  of the other birthday girl are both from the States and they made home made beans and  pulled beef which was amazing it takes a long time to make this pulled beef but let me tell you it was worth every bite of it.

Al:  Thanks for the reply and am glad to here that you are feeling a bit better.  I am sure that you wish you could be able to get a full nights sleep with no interuptions. Will continue to pray for you.

Larry:  I am glad that you are doing o.k. but it is good when you know that you have to have that rest time.  Please say high to your daughter and I hope that she will feel better :)

Janet:  I hope that you are also not overdoing it and looking after yourself. You sound like you are very busy helping Beth.  I know that the Lord will give you the strength to get through being a care giver.  God bless you for that.

Ruthie:  Where are you ?  Have not seen or heard from you for a while.

Etta Sue.:How are you doing ?  You as per usual sound busy I hope that you are also looking after you health .  May the Lord Bless you.

Well will sign of for tonight have a great week.  Gord :coffee:

Ruth PSP isn't a free program.

Here I am finally with something to say.  Since Keith got the BB! working, He has spray painted the lid bright Yellow   and the propane tank has a new coat of white. Now all he has to do is paint the rest of the exterior black. We got heat resistant paint and I thought he was also going to paint the inside of the BBQ, OH! but NO! he says  he is not going to paint the inside. It sure could use  some though. He has BBQ'ed  the last two days.

It has been overcast all day today, the dogs didn't even want to go out I had to leash up Happy just to get him outdoors to pee, I walked him up the street to poop, there is a spot where it isn't anyone yard it isn't on any ones property that I know of.

I have my laundry all sorted for tomorrow, My Doctor appointment is tomorrow and I am sure going to tell him  about my left thumb joint and the arthritis in  my hands as well as the neuropathy in my feet.  That Orthopaedic surgeon down south said when  the pain in my hand got so bad It hurt all the time then it was ready for the surgery top replace that basal joint. I have days when my feet hurt all day long. I am on 300mgs of Neurontin/Gabapentin only at  night.

I want this new Doc to get my records and get my surgery scheduled before  winter, I will probably be in a cast for 3-4 months at the most.
