Morning Devotional...

Scripture: Psalm 31:7
"I am overcome with joy because of your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul" NLT

When I am tired and discouraged from trying without success --- God knows how hard I've tried and HE cares!

When I am lonely and there is no one to talk to --- God is there to listen and HE cares!

When I have tried everything and have nowhere to turn --- God has a solution and HE cares!

When I am confused and frustrated and life makes no sense --- God has peace and HE cares!

When my day brightens and I see hope on the horizon --- God has whispered life to me because HE cares!

When life is going well and my blessings overflow --- God has blessed me because HE cares!

When joy is all around and awe fills my heart --- God has filled me up because HE cares!

When my vision is full and dreams come true --- God has responded to my prayers because HE cares!

Father, I thank you that no matter what I do, no matter where I am, YOU are there, and you care.  Amen.

Awake, My Tongue, Thy Tribute Bring  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/awake-my-soul-to-joyful-lays.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"Who hath made man's mouth?" Exodus 4:11

Words: John Needham, d.c. 1786

Music: "Duke Street," attributed to John Hatton, 1793

Awake, my tongue, thy tribute bring
To Him Who gave Thee power to sing;
Praise Him Who is all praise above,
The source of wisdom and of love.

How vast is His knowledge, how profound!
A deep where all our thoughts are drowned;
The stars He numbers, and their names
He gives to all those heavenly flames.

Through each bright world above, behold
Ten thousand thousand charms unfold;
Earth, air, and mighty seas combine
To speak His wisdom all divine.

But in redemption, O what grace!
Its wonders, O what thought can trace!
Here, wisdom shines forever bright;
Praise Him, my soul, with sweet delight.

Good morning...nope, afternoon ALL!

Why is it when I think it will only take a few minutes to catch up on my computer, it takes hours??  I guess I should be thankful for friends who email me, right?

Janet ~ Sorry to hear of Darrel's coming surgery.  Remember to take care of the caregiver...YOU!  When I am having trials and errors, I claim Joshua 1:9...I've commanded you to be strong and brave. Don't ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the LORD your God, and I will be there to help you wherever you go. CEV.

Judy ~ Give my congratulations to Kassie.  I am sure she is all the more honored since she wasn't expecting the promotion!

Yesterday Ivalou and I went to Bob Evans for lunch and then a nap was in order for me when I got back home.  Inky loves it when I take naps which isn't often anymore.  She sleeps on me or beside me.

Today is mowing day.  It is cooler today so mowing should be more comfortable.  Then tonight is church council meeting.  It was said at church yesterday that there is a lot to be discussed.  Anxious to hear what is new.  I just wish it is a shovel making a ground breaking for the new building but I doubt that yet.  In God's time it will happen!

This week's promise: God's timing is perfect
Watch the Lord rescue you

The Lord continued to strengthen Pharaoh's resolve, and he chased after the people of Israel who had escaped so defiantely. All the forces of Pharaoh's army—all his horses, chariots, and charioteers—were used in the chase....

As Pharaoh and his army approached, the people of Israel could see them in the distance, marching toward them. The people began to panic, and they cried out to the Lord for help.

Then they turned against Moses and complained, "Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren't there enough graves for us in Egypt? Why did you make us leave? Didn't we tell you to leave us alone while we were still in Egypt? Our Egyptian slavery was better than dying out here in the wilderness!"

But Moses told the people, "Don't be afraid. Just stand where you are and watch the Lord rescue you. The Egyptians that you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. You won't have to lift a finger in your defense!"

Exodus 14:8-14 NLT

Bearing down

Whatever your worries are today, they probably do not top the 600 Egyptian war chariots bearing down on the children of Israel! Trapped between the mountains and the sea, the people forgot the God who had delivered them from the Pharaoh's hand, and they cried out in despair. But Moses, who focused on the promise of God, stood firm in his hope. When we face our "chariots," it is quite normal to feel anxiety and fear. But when we remember God's faithfulness and his ability to bring good out of any situation, we find our fears calmed and our confidence renewed.

Confident assurance

What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot see. God gave his approval to people in days of old because of their faith.

Council meeting was great last night.  It usually lasts and hour and it was two hours before I got back home.  Seems that adjoining property to the church property is going up in a Sheriff's Sale next Thursday.  No one has lived in this house for several years.  So we agreed we need that property.  1) So we would definitely have enough land to build a new church 2) We have approached the county to relinquish the road to us and owning all the property on both sides it would be an advantage to NOT have a road divide the property 3) We could fix up the house and rent it out for income 4) We could demolish the house for added space for parking, etc.  5) The cost of the property is a lot less than going off site and purchasing enough property to build another church 6) If we decide it wasn't the right decision we could fix the property up and sell it for profit.  And we have that money in the building fund and we wouldn't have to finance.   A great meeting.  Now prayers for getting the property.

I may be going swimming today.  I told Kitty to give me a half hour and I could be ready!

We are having a church picnic and I want to get yarn to crochet an afghan for a silent auction.  Need to do that right away.  The picnic is June 27.

Kind of overcast today and predicting rain.  Cool, too!  My toes are cold!

Hi everyone.  I had a long morning as left immediately from coffee to go to the dentist.  As I expected, he said I needed a crown as there were two other cracks in the enamel of the tooth. He was able to do the crown preparation work this morning by working between a few other patients.  I got in the dental chair at 9:30 and got out of it at 12:20 pm.  I stopped at Chick-fil-A for a big cup of ice cream for lunch as my jaw was still numb.  I just now got up from a nap.

Janet, thanks for the devotional thoughts for the week.

Marilyn, glad to see you check-in.  Enjoy your vacation and do be careful on that bike.

Etta Sue, it sounds like God is providing for his church with the property next to your existing church.  I remember our cat used to take his nap on my legs when I was napping and if I moved suddenly he would give me a bite through the covers.

Judy, once again thanks for posting the encouraging words from the Bible and the hymn.  The older we become the more we recognize that it always darkest before the dawn and that is often true with our lives as well.  We wouldn't appreciate the mountain top if we didn't experience the valleys of life as well.

Keith has been on the computer for the last 5 hours looking at trains on eBay. I have been on the couch watching TV and snoozing off and on. Now if I can get him off his behind so we can go bike riding.

We just had lunch. Tomorrow is a travel day with me going to CA for the graduation.  I don't look forward to 8 hours in the car two days in a row.

No need to worry

Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth.

Lessons of a circuit rider

When Abraham Lincoln was on his way to Washington to be inaugurated, he spent some time in New York with Horace Greeley and told him an anecdote that was meant to be an answer to the question everybody was asking him: Are we really going to have civil war?

In his circuit-riding days, Lincoln and his companions, riding to the next session of court, had crossed many rivers. But the Fox River was still ahead of them; and they said one to another, "If these streams gives us so much trouble, how shall we get over the Fox River?"

When darkness fell, they stopped for the night at a log tavern, where they fell in with the Methodist presiding elder of the district, who rode through the country in all kinds of weather and knew all about the Fox River. They gathered around him and asked him about the present state of the river.

"Oh, yes," replied the circuit rider, "I know all the Fox River. I have crossed it often and understand it well. But I have one fixed rule with regard to the Fox River—I never cross it till I reach it."

Good morning!  I am filled with praises to our wonderful, loving God today!  Darrel and I prayed about his situation, for the doctor to have supernatural wisdom and insight into his condition, and that the best method of treatment would be found.  After seeing the doctor on Monday and going to the hospital for blood draw, we did a bit of shopping, then went to his sister's and had a nice visit, then spent the night with them.

Yesterday Darrel had iodine injected, then had a CT scan, at 10:00.  Then at 2 we went back to the doctor's office.  He determined that the infections are being caused by a bladder that has been stretched and stretched and cannot fully empty.  Having the urine stay there causes the infection.  The doctor drained over a gallon of urine from Darrel, after he tried his best to empty his bladder!  I asked if the bladder will regain its elasticity and go back to a normal size, and was told that usually not.  :(  But they will do a different surgery, not the green light laser.  (Dr. called it "roto-rooter" surgery,) to eliminate whatever it is that has been blocking the flow for so long.  After that, he should be able to empty his bladder, thus preventing further infections.  We came home after he got another big injection of Rocefin, and they are arranging his surgery to be after we get home from Cozumel.  They are to call us this morning to tell us the date.  In the meantime, we will continue with powerful anti-biotics.  They don't have any oral meds yet strong enough to work; so they said while we are in Mexico, to just go to a pharmacy and ask for a Rocefin injection and they will give it.  (In Mexico you don't need prescriptions for hardly anything!)

TMI, I know, but I am so happy for the end to finally be in sight for all Darrel's suffering from this mess.  I am glad to only have missed my class to get answers, and we plan to leave for family reunion tomorrow.

I will stop now, getting too long!

Oh, Janet, not too much information at all!  It's wonderful news that the cause of Darrel's problem is known and that it can be taken care of.  AND that you don't have to miss your vacation!  Isn't it great that our God is in charge!   :thumbsup:

Janet ~ If Darrel and I could put our bladder quantities together and each of us take half...we would both be happy!  I have been told that bladders should be two fists.  Mine is a small one.

I got yarn for making an afghan.  Four colors.  Soft white, Light gray, Heather Gray and Black.  Should go with any decor.  I got 16 rounds done yesterday but each round is larger.  A total of 68 rounds will finish it.

Also got RoundUp but it is raining and can't put it on today.  And we had two Memory Books for the LHS Class of 1960 to mail.  They are in the mail!

I just got a call from the secretary at church a short while ago.  They are in need of some images of antique tractors.  We are having the All Church Picnic, June 27..reason for the afghan for the Silent Auction..and they are wanting Antique Tractors to be on display.  Thus they want to advertise the antiques with images on the overhead the next 3 weeks.  Hope I find some on the web.

Hi everyone.  It has been a pretty routine.  We did have a good Bible Study on the 8th chapter of Daniel in our study with the pastor.  There were 23 in attendance.  We then went to McDonald's rather than Dunkin' Donut.  A number of the folks don't care for the coffee there and it always extremely cold.  This suited me just fine.  We stayed and had lunch there but sure that won't become a habit.  This was a different McDonadl's than where I go to coffee each morning.

Tonight is choir practice.  We will have a substitute director as the director has gone to Florida for the week.  I wonder how many of our choir will attend tonight but sure hope there is a good turnout.  The substitue is a trained musician and long time church pianist/organist and a lovely person.

Janet, so glad they have found Darrel's problem and doubt that it is too uncommon.  I think my father had a similar problem and after surgery had no further problems.  Glad you don't have to cancel your trip as know you have been looking forward to it.

Marilyn, have a great trip and enjoy your grandchildren.

Would anyone like to send a little sunshine to the island?  This Spring has been constant rain and cool temps.  The gardens are lovely and green.....and soon the people will be too!

Also have had a bladder infection.  Took the last nasty pill today.  They make me very ill.  Have been able to keep them at bay with D-Mannose.  Both the Dr. and Pharm. said it is good.  It was for the past year until I got careless and cut back on the tablets.  Bam!  Was not a good idea and will not repeat the mistake.

My computer got a virus and had to be totally restored from scratch.  Took me two very hard and long days to fix.  Lots of nasty things on the internet as well as in the Gulf!  Poor sad old world.  Certainly glad that God is going to have the last word. :)

My cat Misty is growing more hair since her Lion Cut.  I expected hot weather and she needs a tad more fur.  She seems to enjoy the change and is very frisky since all that fur is gone.....and so it goes....

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Larry, sorry about your dental problems.  Not fun.  My tongue is still bothering me constantly, so tiresome.

Liz, how good to see you posting!  I will share our sunshine with you.  Sorry you are not feeling well and hope it passes quickly.

Abby is here, first time in ages!  She is going to the family reunion with us tomorrow.  I'm always happy to have her.  Her whole family started a Bible study on The Battlefield of the Mind tonight.  That's a Joyce Meyer study, wish I could attend with them!

I need to get myself to bed.  Good night!

You have been a shelter from the storm.
Isaiah 25:4

Words: Vernon J. Charlesworth, circa 1880.

Music: Ira D. Sankey, circa 1885

The Lord's our Rock, in Him we hide,
A Shelter in the time of storm;
Secure whatever ill betide,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Refrain
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,
A weary land, a weary land;
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

A shade by day, defense by night,
A Shelter in the time of storm;
No fears alarm, no foes afright,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Refrain

The raging storms may round us beat,
A Shelter in the time of storm
We'll never leave our safe retreat,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Refrain

O Rock divine, O Refuge dear,
A Shelter in the time of storm;
Be Thou our Helper ever near,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Hi everyone.

Happy Birthday Pat.  Hope it is a very nice one.  I don't remember whether you are younger than me or just a few months older.

The day started off sunny but now is overcast.  Only a 30% chance of rain today but yesterday we had a 40% chance and had quite a storm late yesterday afternoon.  Lots of thunder and lightning.

Today my schedule is totally clear.  Pat has gone to the Senior Center for the morning primarily to see a long time friend who is apparently not doing too well but is usually at the Senior Center.  She also enjoys playing Rummikub or working on a jigsaw puzzel.

I am going to work to update a document I prepared several years ago in case something happens to me.  It has a pretty detailed description of our financial situation, insurance policies, bank accounts, investments, etc.  It has gotten rather out of date after several years.

Liz, sorry to hear of your continued health problems.  It sure takes the air out of the sails when we are not feeling well.

Janet, it sounds Darrel is going to have some very unpleasant days ahead until he can have the surgery.  Sure hope it doesn't ruin his enjoyment of your upcoming trip and other activities.  Sorry to hear that your tongue is still bothering you.  You hadn't mentioned so thought maybe that was a thing of the past.

Judy, thanks for posting the Hymn.  I agree with you about the storms of life.  Isn't it wonderful that we have a Savior to help us weather each storm as the storm passes.

Good morning.  Happy Birthday, Pat!! :woohoo:

I have been crocheting, getting photos ready for critique-ing at Guild and even took images and movies to church and put them on the computer.  Busy!

Today is my class luncheon.  I am not in charge anymore so I don't have to be there as early!

Yesterday I got a new g-g-nephew.  Colt Dylan made his appearance at 6:26pm, June 9th.  He is 20 inches long and 6lb 7oz.  He has black hair and dimples.  His mother has dimples to die for!!

This week's promise: God's timing is perfect
Prayer is the key

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to illustrate their need for constant prayer and to show them they must never give up...

Luke 18:1 NLT

Saved by a Stamp

God's answers to prayers can affect generations to come. In fact, if not for his gracious answers to a prayer offered many years ago, my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would not know his blessing today.

The story is simple. My cousin Mirea and I wanted to visit friends in America. Sensing that we would not abandon our grand idea, my father sent us on our way with heartfelt prayers for our safety.

Our trip across Europe took several days. Finally we arrived on the western shores of England. But as we prepared to set sail for America, we were told there was a problem with our papers. Officials at the immigration office said Mirea was missing a stamp on a paper that would allow her to leave the country. We would have to stay in England for another week until Mirea's papers could be corrected, they said.

Mirea and I went to the steamship office to ask if we could exchange our tickets for a ship leaving later in the month. The man at the window was glad to make the exchange. He was sure he could resell our berths. People were eager to sail on the maiden voyage of the Titanic.

As we wandered back to the hotel, Mirea and I were disappointed that we had to stay in England. But, when the news reached us a few days later of the sinking of the Titanic, we both began to cry, in sadness for our lost shipmates, but also in relief, realizing how close we had come to death ourselves. God, in his mercy, had answered by father's father's prayer for our safety with something as small as a missing stamp. How good is God!

Yesterday, I called an estranged younger brother after saying a little prayer for guidance - the call went very well.  I have forgiven him - he still remains estranged from family & we don't even know the reasons.  I told him that I love him and he said that he loved me too.  Am so thankful because this has been years.  Just wanted to pass it along.

Janet:  I was wondering if you are grinding your teeth at night.  I was surprised when the dentist told me.

Larry:  We have a good friend who is having stints put in tomorrow (4) in Minneapolis.  There is a nurses strike today - he had severe angina yesterday & later at night so we all hope he makes it to the surgery schedule once the nurses appear back working.  Personally, I think it is wrong for critical jobs to even consider a strike - the union makes these decisions but it can be life or death or health problems.

Hot today - the thermostat is so complicated that I must have set it wrong & had tried to put the A/ C on for the first time this year.  I just want this one to say ON or OFF.  Don just came in and informed me that we do not have A/C working - we had to put in a new furnace in the winter.

Well, I had better see if I can help.

FARTHER ALONG (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/fartheralong.mid)
(Click to hear music)

W. B. Stevens

Tempted and tried we're oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long.
While there are others living about us,
Never molested though in the wrong.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

When death has come and taken our loved ones,
It leaves our home so lonely and drear;
Then do we wonder why others prosper,
Living so wicked year after year.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

Faithful till death said our loving Master.
A few more days to labor and wait;
Toils of the road will then seem as nothing
As we sweep through the beautiful gate.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

When we see Jesus coming in glory,
When He comes from His home in the sky;
Then we shall meet Him in that bright mansion
We'll understand it all by and by.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee at the Senior Center and we had a nice group of men there today.  I plan on staying in the rest of the day as they say the heat index (whatever that is) means it will feel like it is 100 degrees by afternoon.

Yesterday I updated a document I have had for several years that would be beneficial to my wife if I were to pass away as it has a lot of instructions on who to call and what to do about certain things that would have to be attended to.  I also updated our net worth statements.  The job took all day as I researched from various sources for current information.  Today my goal is to clean out my office and storage closet and get rid of a lot of papers that are no longer needed.  Of course, after that is done I won't be able to find anything.  :)

Carol, great that you had the conversation with your brother and hopefully that broke the ice and will be the beginning of a restored relationship.

Good morning.

What a busy day for me yesterday.  I even wore myself out.

First was the class luncheon.  Kitty didn't go but she called me and said if I wanted to go swimming to call her when I got back home.

So we were going toward Carmel to swim and Ivalou called me.  Asked me if I wanted to go to the movies with Marge, Betty, Janet and her at 4:55pm.  I told her if I saw that I couldn't get to Noblesville by that time I would call Janet.

Kitty and I swam our 32-33 laps, got dressed and head toward Noblesville.  We realized that we would be a tad late so I called Janet and told them to go on in, I would find them.  Kitty dropped off my swim bag at the house...wasn't that nice.

We saw the movie 'Letters to Juliet'.  PG rating.  No violence, no profanity at all, no nudity!  A great movie...especially for my generation or older!

Then the five of us went to Applebee's for dinner.

Tony called me sometime in the afternoon and he was coming to the house to clean out my eaves.  Little maple trees were growing on three corners of the house.

Then home to crocheting.

Good not to see maple trees growing.

I did find out that a classmate that didn't graduate with us passed away yesterday.  His viewing is this evening.  I know it has been over 50 years since I have seen home.  Debating whether to go to the viewing or not.  Probably will.

My goodness, Etta Sue!  Do you ever stop long enough to draw breath?  Any one of your activities would have been enough for me for one day.   :thumbsup:

I finally got the computer way from Keith. LOL  :2funny:

I got to see my kitties while I was home for those few minutes on both traveling days. Yesterday It was pouring rain and I had to put
grubby back outside. He jumped down over the side of the deck and headed for the dog house. At least he will keep dry there. The neighbor puts his food by the front door.  However I sure do miss my dogs and wonder how they are doing.

Savannah looked so pretty and she wore my mother's diamond pendant on the box chain, I bought that for my mom when I worked at Mervyn's; (on  Super Saturday's I worked in the jewelery dept) 60% off plus my 20% employee discount. So I sure got a good deal.

Delay Is Not Rejection

Although Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, he stayed where he was for the next two days and did not go to them. Finally, after two days, he said to his disciples, "Let's go to Judea again."

John 11:5-7 NLT

God often delays His response out of love, as He works all things together for good.

Jeanne Zornes

Waiting with hope

Mary and Martha had sent their friend Jesus a message about the critical condition of their brother, Lazarus, and their urgent need for his help: "Lord, the one you love is very sick" (John 11:3). But instead of rushing off to Bethany, Jesus stayed where he was for two days before responding to Mary and Martha's plea. When he did arrive, he raised Lazarus from the dead in a magnificent display of his power.

Just as Mary and Martha struggled when Jesus answered their prayers for Lazarus in a time and way different from what they had expected, we get frustrated when the Lord delays in coming to us and answering our prayers.

As it did for the grieving sisters, two days (or two months or two years) of waiting can seem like an eternity to us. But in the midst of the "delay," God is not inactive. He is teaching us patience, perseverance, and faith and is planning to glorify himself in our circumstances. While we are waiting, he wants to cleanse our hearts and refocus us on Jesus. The Spirit always knows what will glorify God, and we can trust him when we're in the waiting room.

LORD, help me to wait for you in hope and perseverance, knowing that you will come. Grant me patience and faith in the waiting room of life yet to be.

Enduring love

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 136:1 NLT

The unforgettable responsive reading

It was midnight on Thursday, February 8, A.D. 356, and Athanasius, a leader in the early Christian church and passionate defender of the deity of Jesus Christ, was leading a worship service. Suddenly loud shouts and clashing armor could be heard outside the church. Soldiers had come to arrest him.

But Athanasius said, "I didn't think it right, at such a time, to leave my people," so he continued the service. He asked a deacon to read Psalm 136 and then requested the congregation to respond with the refrain, "His faithful love endures forever," which they did twenty-six times over the din of the soldiers outside.

Just as the final verse was completed, the soldiers rushed into the church, brandishing their swords and spears and crowding forward up the nave toward Anthanasius. The people yelled for Athanasius to run, but he refused to go until he had given a benediction. Then some of his assistants gathered tightly around him, and, as he recounts it, "I passed through the crowd of people unseen and escaped, giving thanks to God that I had not betrayed my people, but had seen to their safety before I thought of my own."

Athanasius was portraying to his people God's love, which endures forever. He was willing to lay down his life for his flock—just as Jesus had laid down his life for his flock a few centuries earlier.

Since God's "faithful love endures forever," why is there ever any need to worry?

It seems I posted two days back to back but they were both too good to just ignore.  Someone may need to hear both.

Yesterday was a long day.  We took Kassie to school, and went to the graduation of the program she is in.  The teachers of the "program" are wonderful, really caring for the kids.  From there we had running around to do, including getting the schematics for the lawn tractor belt for the deck. I shredded the belt last week and we couldn't figure out how to replace it.  John and I spent time in the Christian Book Store, and bought 3 books.  I got my hair cut, and bought a camera!

If anyone has the opportunity to get and read any of the Martyr's Song Series by Ted Decker, you would not be sorry. This is an amazing series of books some with a story within an story.  Be prepared to have a box of tissues beside you. Even though I have read the main story before, I still wept through this book.  Also the main story is a wonderful teaching tool

Last night was the Navy League cadets Annual Inspection.  Doug is a leader with Navy League.  Both Brytan and Kimi (our grandchildren) are cadets.

We dropped Heather and the kids off, grabbed Kimi's clothes and brought her home with us.  She has been wanting a Gramma visit for a while now.  Her and Kassie are both still asleep.

Now back to the camera.  I bought a Nikon Coolpix.  I am not sure what it will do just yet, but it is a start.  I am excited to take some pictures and check it out!.

Have a great day everyone.  Enjoy your summer!

Hi everyone.  It is going to be another very hot day here.  I was able to stay in after it got hot yesterday so it didn't bother me.  We have a meeting to attend this morning and then the rest of the day is free.  Sometimes to go to lunch with friends after the meetiing but it is now difficult for Pat as she is trying to not eat sugar and many carbs so eating out will not happen as often as before.  The conflict is that she often isn't feeling up to doing much cooking.  She is sort of caught in the middle.

Etta Sue, I am like Jeanne in that doing one or two of those things would be a full day for me as my energy would be gone.  That was really a full day.

Marilyn, glad you had a safe trip and are back at the vacation spot.

Judy, thanks for the devotional messages.  Both of them were very good.  I think you will enjoy your new camera if you like to take pictures.  Each new version of the cameras seem to be better and better.  My friend, Rod, just got a new Casio that is 14 megapixel and does some amazing things.  He was able to take pictures directly into the light a couple of days ago and it turned out great.

Well, after a full day of busy-ness, yesterday I hardly did anything more than crochet.  But I am over half done on my afghan.  But it is a smaller half...ha!  Each round is bigger...like a doily or round rug.  I have 38 rounds done and 30 to go!

So since it is cloudy and rainy today, I planned on crocheting a lot more today.  But Kitty called.  She wants me to go with her to Carmel this evening so she won't have to wait by herself for her sister to go to an Alumni Dinner at the high school.  By then I will need a break from crocheting anyway.

I need to call my sister.  Didn't talk to her yesterday but did see she had company last evening.

Larry thank you for the encouragement on the camera.  Is it possible to get Meals on Wheels where you are?  That may be an answer to the mealtime problem.  Not sure if they work around diets though.

I thing it is about time for me to get a new camera, Mine is only 3.5 Mega Pixels. Half the time the batteries run down after only a few photos and I have to recharge them. Then sometimes the  lens won't come out.

We will be going home tomorrow, should get there around 3-5 pm. I will be so nice to use the desktop instead of this small keyboard on the Netbook.

Our friend who had one stent put in for heart yesterday is not feeling well.  He has four clogged arteries and the doctors explained that they wanted to stent the one that they thought was giving him pain.  He still has pain.  Maybe he will feel better tomorrow.

Larry:  We have been in the low 40's all day with bouts of rain and hail.  I have a sweatshirt on this evening and we did turn the heat on for the afternoon.  Good luck in finding things after you organize; we do this all the time and can barely keep up.  One thing Pat could order is an omelet even make it with egg whites so you can still go out.  Perhaps, a veggie plate?

Hi, friends, it's been a busy, busy time for me the last couple of weeks. One of the great times was a night and the next day spent with my DIL and sweet granddaughters, who came from GA to see me! :)

It seems today was also really busy with church matters. One of the older men in our church is visiting in Virginia, and of course, that WOULD be the time that he would fall, break some ribs and crack his pelvis! So, I was on the elder-phone-hotline calling all those who don't have computers requesting prayer for him and his family.

Then, of course, the usual 8-hours of designing and preparing a couple of large powerpoint files for use in tomorrow's service. Next was grocery shopping.

So, now it's time to get the meats and salads in the fridge, then find my bed.  :crazy:

G'nite, friends.

Ruth Ann

Good Morning!

I went with Kitty last evening to take her sister to an alumni dinner at their old high school.  Kitty and I ate at Don Pablo's and then went to Micheal's.  Then back to pick up Sara.  Kitty's husband called and said there were storm warning.  That got Kitty scared.  We only had about a mile of windy weather.  Never did have a down pour...just sprinkles.  I wish Bob wouldn't scare Kitty like that.  She doesn't like driving in the rain anyway!

Then I crocheted 4 more rows when I got home.

I don't like to mow on Sunday but if the weather improves, I will.  Too busy the rest of the week but if I have to, I can fit it in!

Hi everyone.  It is suppose to be a scorcher here today.  The sun is out bright and early this morning.  I am ready for church and Pat is fixing her breakfast.  I have no idea whether we will be going out after church today or not.  We did go out yesterday at lunch time and Pat had a nice salad with chicken and a little cheese.  She said it was very good.  Other than church today I have no other plans for the day.

I am reading a very interesting book called the Imperial Cruise.  It is really an eye-opener on our country in the late 1800's and early 1900's.  I hope to finish it today as have about 100 pages left to read.  I plan on taking a break from cleaning up my office.  It isn't dirty but I just just accumlated a lot of paper that is no longer needed and some of it needs to be shredded, which isn't much fun.

Carol, sure glad you missed the hail.  I am still shocked at the terrible floods in Arkansas and all the killed and unaccounted for folks there.  What a tragedy on what was suppose to be a restful vacation.

Judy, we would not qualify for Meal on Wheels and hopefully are far away from needing such help.  I am sure I could learn to cook if I set my mind to it and there are lots of prepared things available.  When I was alone with my folks taking care of them years ago I did have to prepare the meals.  They were simple and probably not well prepared but we all survived the experience.  Don't remember having to discard anything as totally unpalatable.

Marilyn, always nice to get away and always better to return to the comfort of your own home.  I agree about the keyboard on the netbooks.  At least the one Pat has has a flat keyboard with no curves to the individual letters.

Etta Sue, it is nice to be able to spend all day doing what you wanted to do.

Ruth Ann, it is really sad when someone travels and breaks one or more bones with a fall.  It creates a lot of problems.

Sure hope some more folks drop by today and leave a brief message if they don't feel inclined to write more.

I'm here, Larry ... I arrived home from California yesterday evening and am still trying to recuperate from a week of emotional rollercoaster days and nights.  There were good days and not-so-good days and much stress at times, but I have survived to live another day!

God is GOOD and He has always been my strong tower in the midst of any storm that comes along.

My income will increase dramatically since Tom's death, and my life style enhanced.  That's all because Tom paid into a Survivor Benefit Plan from his Air Force retirement ... also I receive his social security.  That, added to my (meager) telephone pension, will make life worth living for the rest of my life!  All things that no one can touch and/or compromise or take away from me.

I will admit that I still have a feeling of "I'm going to wake up from this one day and find it's all just a dream"  Or of waiting for someone to tell me there's been a mistake in the calculations and I have to pay it back!   :-\  I know, soon, I will not have that feeling of looking over my shoulder and will begin to enjoy what the Lord has provided.

So glad you made it home safe and sound, Jane.  I don't know why I kept having this feeling something was wrong.  I was praying....just in case. :thumbsup:  I bet you will need some resting up for awhile.

We're having sunshine today, with clouds passing by, and then sun again.  No rain, so that's good.  People can get to their gardening and planting flowers again. It was warmer yesterday, with full sun.  I'm grateful for just being DRY! :)

Skeet, my son, mowed for me yesterday, and finally the dogs can go out without getting lost. :)  I tried to help him, but my shoulder kept telling me to stop.  He will use the weedeater to do the rest, later on today.

Larry, that was such a tragedy about the camp being hit by the flash flood.  Many of my relatives in Texas and surrounding area go to that site regularly.  None were there that weekend, but knew others who were.  It's just so sad.  I sure hope they find the missing bodies.  And wouldn't it be wonderful if they found more, or even one person, alive?  My heart is hurting for the families.

A mighty fortress is our God (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/267.mid)
(Click to hear music)

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God's own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God's truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.
