Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

YOu are too funny Jane.

This has been a quiet COLD day.  I have the fire going but there is no getting warm.  It is a damp day and I guess that is why.

The snow is about gone and tonight and tomorrow there is to be rain.  That should take care of the rest of the snow, and begin the cleanup of winter.  We have a lot of scraping to do with the dogs and we will begin that when the rain stops.

Here is a song we sang on Sunday.

Father I have sinned,
Help me find my way.
Remember not my sins
Just let me hear you say:

I forgive you;
I love you;
You are mine;
Take my hand.
Go in peace;
Sin no more,
Beloved one.

Father I have turned
my back and walked away.
Depended on my strength
And lived my life my own way.

Father I have closed
my heart to those in need,
Thought only of myself,
a victim of my greed

Father I have loved
if love's the word to use.
I've played so many games;
they've left me so confused.

Father I've returned.
I'm home with you to stay,
Standing by your door,
Knowing that you'll say

I forgive you;
I love you;
You are mine;
Take my hand.
Go in peace;
Sin no more,
Beloved one.

Judy - that's an interesting song.  I must admit, though, that I have a small problem with it.  Those who sing it will naturally take it quite personally - as though God were speaking to them.  But yet it's not actually Scripture.  What would you think?  Could it be substituted for Scripture?  Would anyone take it that way?  What do you think?

I am running way behind today.  First I had the blood draw this morning and then Ivalou and I had breakfast.  We asked the waitress if it was okay to sit there and drink coffee awhile so we stayed there until almost noon.  Then we went to the theater and saw 'Slumdog Millionaire'.  I know it won a lot of Oscars and maybe even the movie of the year...I can't remember (my rememberer is broke).  It was good.  I did enjoy it.  Different.  And Ivalou and I were the only ones in the theater.  I don't know how theaters afford to do that.

Then we went to the cardiologist for the heart monitor to be removed from Ivalou.  Then to the Dollar General and we had a late lunch/early supper at KFC.  Then home.

I can't believe it but I am tired.

I want to take up my padding in the bathroom so it can go in the trash Thursday morning and be gone!

Tomorrow Kitty has her heart cath.

Hi everyone.  I agree with you all that the poem Pat posted also applies to me and it seems to get worse each year.  I start to do something and see something else that I do and then forget about the other item for a time.  I am noticing I am saying "I forgot" a lot more often now.

Mario, thanks for sharing with us.  Glad your trip was so worthwhile and know you are glad you went.  We have friends who recently visited the Holy Land and really enjoyed it.

Pat, cloning makes an exact duplicate from one disk to a second disk.  When the process is completed you must, before turning the computer back on, switch the cabeling from the old "c" to the newly cloned disk and reboot, otherwise at a future date it will not boot.  Why that is I do not understand but I can tell you from experience that is true.  My good friend Rod had been after me to do the cloning so I did it but didn't immediately reboot and when I went to use it later the cloned disk wouldn't work.  It sounds worse than it is.  You can get the software you need to do the cloning from the Maxtor website.  I think the current version is Maxtor 5 and is based on the Acronis backing up software but it is free to download and use.  After you reboot the newly cloned disk you can switch the cabeling back to the "C" drive and continue to use it.  You don't have to install the disk you are cloning to but just lay it on the frame of the computer and hook up cabeling.

I did install the new memory in Pat's computer this afternoon.  It took me a few tries as wasn't pushing hard enough to get the memeory set (needed to hear it snap in place and see the little levels at the end in an upright position.  Then I started to do the cloning process and found the disk I have requires different cabeling then I have so that is going to have to wait and I have asked my friend to help me get the cabeling installed once I get the right thing.

Tomorrow we will be headed to Florida to visit Pat's aunt.  We will go just part way tomorrow and the rest of the way on Thursday, which gets us there in mid-afternoon.  Just hope we don't have to drive too much in the rain, which is suppose to move in here tonight.  I need to check the weather for the next few days in St. Petersburg, where we will be staying.  We plan to leave early Sunday morning and drive back home.  I think we will probably drive all the way back since we have more hours of daylight.

I just checked to see if I could use the 20 hours of dialup time that comes with my DSL account but they do not have a local number.  I will take my laptop and probably go to the library to use the high speed connection available.  I am sure I could also go over to Pat's cousin's house, where we stayed last year, as they have high speed internet service.

Ruth

Mario:   Thanks for sharing.

Larry:  Cloning is beyond my skills but it is wonderful that others have that gift and are not afraid to try.

Just got a phone call from my brother in law telling us that his youngest son has yet another medical problem added to his list. Spinal Bifida.   Those of us that are well have so much to be thankful for and yes I am thankful.

It has been a windy cool day.     Ruth

 :)  Good evening to all.   The days seem to go so fast.  Since last posting we went to a 60th birthday party and had a wonderful time.  Then we drove back home on Saturday so that we could be home for church on Sunday.  We had a good service as we had a  guest speaker tell about the new ministry that they are going to start in London England.  They are going to church plant wright in the middle of the Muslim area so you could all pray for this family as this is a very hard move to leave a pastorate after 8 years.  But they feel it is Gods will.

Larry:  I hope that you have a wonderful time away but that seems very short time.  Please drive carefully :thumbsup:

Pat:  Thanks for the devotional and also the song on my tube I also watched some of the other older ones that were on there some with Johnny Cash and his wife when they were very young and also Dean Martin and Johnny Carson also very funny.  Also for the other songs.  Love ya Sis and say hi to Paul

Al;  How are you doing ?  Hope that your legs are getting better.

To all others may the Lord bless you all the rest of this week. <3

Al I take that song os one of repentance and forgiveness from our Father.

This has been a rather unusual day.  One daughter was to come home late and the other early...on time, but the roles were reversed.  Kassie was on time and Elizabeth was late.  They did get the majority of the remaining wood in though.

I got to reading a book tonight.  I know better, but it was a good book.  Afraid of not waking up in time I am staying up the last two hours before the alarm goes off.  Won't do this again any time soon.

HAve a good day folds and God bless.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We are making the last minute preparations and expect to leave perhaps by 11 am.  Pat is drying her hair under the hair dryer.  I think we are about all packed up except for the last minute suitcase.

Pat suggested we stay off the Interstate so will use some less traveled road for at least awhile.  We will always be fairly close to I-75 so can get back to it easily if the State highways become too tiring.  You have to go through a lot of little towns and deal with slower speeds.  However, we are in no particular hurry.

It is a bit misty here this morning although not really raining.  I think that is to start more later today and hopefully after we leave the area.

Ruth, it sounds like you nephew has a lot of health problems and the new one sounds so serious.

Hope everyone has a great day.  My next check in will likely be from Florida unless I get online tonight a the motel in Valdosta or whereever we stay.

Etta Sue

I thought of Kitty when I woke up this morning.  I have never had a heart cath so I don't know what she is going through but I can only imagine how much it stresses your mind.  But she is in God's hands and you just can't have it better than that!

It is a dark and gloomy day.  We have a bunch of small homes about a couple of blocks away.  A man by the name of Bays used to own the land so we call it Baystown.  Anyway, the dusk to dawn/street lights are still on so that shows you how dark and gloomy it is.  Rain on the windows woke me before daylight.  Water drops are on the front window.  We need rain though.

Today my plans are to get the padding off the bathroom floor, pull up the staples, clean the floor, put down the filler and paint the woodwork! That's all!

Then tomorrow, the vinyl!

Larry ~ Sometimes it is nice to meander on the state highways!

Marilyn

Good Morning to one and all. Mario I loved your  story of your trip to the Holy Land. It was so captivating. I would dearly love to visit Israel. I too remember the photos you mentioned.

Well almost everything is offloaded from the truck. All that is left is the bed, the china cabinet and 3 tubs and a crate. The truck gets turned in tomorrow.

Happy has been favoring one front paw and I can't find anything wrong with his paw,. He keeps licking it and limping when I take him out to potty.  He  has also developed an ear infection n both ears, which is a common occurrence in dogs with floppy ears. He has had them before but never in both at the same time. I called  his Vet in McKinleyville and she is mailing up  the medicine . I have washed both ears with the ear wash  and have been  putting in the warmed drops twice per day, I have enough to last until the new meds get here.

I have been unpacking and putting things away and rearranging things now for two days and by the end of the day I am so tired that I have been asleep by 8 pm and not waking up until 6 am.

I still don't have my own computer set up, we are waiting until this weekend to clean up and rearrange the  room used as an office, there is a beautiful glass covered mahogany Art-Deco desk that belonged to Keith's parents just sitting here in the corner that  I will be  using.

Back to work on getting the stuff into the house from the garage.

Marilyn - glad to hear that you're at least somewhat settled in.  You'll be happy to know that it's raining down here.

Pat

Hello Everyone!

It's raining here too, Alan!

Hope everyone is having a great day and I hope that we hear from you later from your motel, Larry!  Have a wonderful rest.

Anyone missing Janet?

I sure hope she's having a great time.

Have you ALL voted?

Hey Al .. It's raining here, too!   ;)  But that's to be expected -- after all, this is Oregon.

Yes, Pat ... I do miss Janet and I have voted.  :thumbsup:  I received a copy of the book Janet and her sister wrote.  Pretty interesting, and  I can relate to much of what they wrote about.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

When does she get back, Jane?

I remember she said she'd be away 32 days I think but I'm not sure when she left.

I voted and yes it is raining here too.  We are under a winter storm watch.  There is still the problem with freezing rain.

Pat

Gracious!  I was just talking to a gal on Photography Cafe who lives in Kenora, Judy and she got some really great snow photos today.

It's cold here but no snow.

Pat, Janet posted this on the 13th:

"Today is our last day at home before we will be away for 34 days!  Boy, that sounds like a long time---bet we will be more than ready to come home!"

You know she always posts in bold blue, right?   :D

I voted, too, Pat. Thanks for giving us that link!

I slept most of the afternoon away after the ear tube insert procedure just before lunchtime.

They did it with a laser and I actually saw the "tour" of my eardrum on the tv in front of me as they searched for a place without scarring in which to make the hole with the laser so the tube could be inserted. And as I heard the loud pop and felt the pain, I could also see clearly the hole the laser made. My, what changes since I was a little gal with ear infections!

There's a possibility I won't have to have a tube inserted ever again, for this is planned to last many years unless I find a way to develop an inflammation in the eustacian tube even with the t-tube in place. That would be a good thing - I don't like the level of pain endured with one of these procedures, but then again, I'm mighty thankful after it's over and I can look forward to a number of months without an infection!  ::)

I was going to take a digital camera course at the senior citizens ctr, but it was cancelled for lack of students. So, I bravely took my camera with me, and attempted to capture the beauty of the blossoming trees going down the driveway to my apartment house. Now, to work on getting it off the camera, into the computer, and then set up for y'all to see! My, My, challenges aplenty!  :crazy:

Larry:  Taking the "Road Less Traveled"  ;)

JudyB:  LOL on staying up all night.  We almost did the same because we kept waking - our minds were filled with fretting over getting up by 4 AM to take our friends to the airport.  They call us the best of friends now  :D  We ate a breakfast after 5 AM and came back here to snooze - the phone rang so I just gave up after little snoozing.

RuthAnn: Wonderful that there is finally a permanent answer to your ear problems.  Take care.

Our daughter is flying in tomorrow for a short visit - well, at least we hope she makes it here because there is a blizzard going on now.  Springtime in the Rockies - that is a sure thing to have a blizzard.

I'm done!!! My bathroom floor is done!  I did the remaining bits yesterday.  Yeah, I know.  I didn't get to bed until 2am but it is all done and finished.  When I walk past the bathroom, I first think water is on the floor but it is the shiny ebony marble vinyl!  I think I am going to like it even if my son says years from now this is the black vinyl that Mom put down that is so hard to keep clean!  Oh, well!

Now I am vegging out.  Time to slow down and smell the roses.  My philosphy is that if I live to be a 100 I need to slow down or I won't have anything to do when I'm 90!   :lol: ;D :D

Well they had the snow Pat....And can keep it!.  we had rain but not enough to cause any major problems, it is damp and cold here, I think it is the dampness that bothers me the most.

I was able to get to bed early last night and feel a lot better today.   The girls got up and let me sleep.  Last night Kass had a killer headache and I felt the lack of sleep was the problem.

  Have you heard about the problem along the Red River?  I know Manitoba has major flooding and there is flooding in the US of A along the Red River as well.  There have been people evacuated from their homes.  We need to pray for them during this time.

It sure feels a bit odd jumping into what is clearly a precious and caring community of believers where everyone seems to know each other. I hope you all won't mind if I say hello and mention how wonderful the forum here seems to be. I'm sitting at work with a fresh cup o' joe and thinking how miserable to commute home will be, but the posts I've been reading here have made me smile.  :)

SM - you'll have to tell us what that stands for, so we can call you by what sounds more like a name!  You're sure welcome to "jump right in."  We're really glad to have you here.  Personally, I hope you'll hop in often to let us know what our Lord is doing in your life.  He's the One Who makes all the difference.

Al Moak

Hi Scott.  I just went to the "introductions" folder and discovered you'd already told us what you name is.  Please forgive me - I'm usually late!

I too am a pastor.  I don't do a lot of photography, though.  I do have a digital, and I post an occasional pic, but not like others here.  What church do you pastor, Scott?

Speaking of singing, what a wonderful hymn this is!  Just imagine that Day by Day, we are led by our Father.  How wonderful to realize that He is there right with us.

Let's sing it together...

Day By Day
(Click to hear music)

Words by Lina Berg
Music by Oscar Ahnfelt

Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best
Lovingly, it's part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and with rest.

Ev'ry day the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He whose name is Counselor and Pow'r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
This the pledge to me He hath made.

Help me then in ev'ry tribulation
So to trust thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith's sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy Holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
'Til I reach the blessed, promised land.

Yes it was a depressing day - We did get bad news and yet in my heart I did know it was coming.   The Lord does and gives us the strength to go on.

Mel has gone curling which is the last for the season I guess that means it soon will be time to cut grass instead shovel snow.

It is time to relax with my knitting and the T.V.

Al, yes, I am a "tentmaker" pastor, I work full time and am one of three pastors at Grace Family Church in Friendswood, TX (just between Houston and Galveston). We have one full time pastor and two like me. If God wills, we are seeking to plant a new church in the future, so I am hoping to be called there and will be able to support my family and preach the Word - full time!

Pat, thanks for the warm welcome here in the various threads. My commute was uneventful, and that's how I like 'em. Usually its a 30-40 minute drive from the city to the burbs, but with the rain it was an hour and 20 minutes. Good time to use learning, so I usually listen to sermons, lectures and various things like that. I actually enjoy my commute if its not terrible weather.

Thanks Scott for your reply.  I was wondering how your commute would be.  Do you have sermons on CDs that you listen to?

I was just going to look for an online sermon of John Piper's to listen to.  I had seen the title of it some time ago and hope that I find it.
