Morning Devotional...New Morality Or Ancient Foolishness?
by Ray Stedman
March 21
READ:
Ephesians 5:3-6 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians%205:3-6&version=50)
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people (Ephesians 5:3).
That charge to Christians must have seemed even more unrealistic and incapable of fulfillment to the pagans of Ephesus than it does to Americans today. Why is it there? Not because Christianity is negative and prudish. The whole of Scripture is written for the welfare of humanity. God's purpose in telling us the truth is that we might fully enter into life. Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and to have it to the full" (John 10:10).
Why is this passage here? It is because, as Paul says, even the hint of sexual immorality, impurity, or greed is improper among saints. The word he chooses is a word that means "becoming," "wholesome," "attractive," "refreshing." Who of us has not had the experience of being exposed to something filthy, obscene, or improper in sexual matters and coming from that experience feeling dirty and unclean? What a refreshing thing it has been to come into a company of people who talk about wholesome matters, whose time and talk is filled with that which is healthy. That is what the apostle means. By implication, to indulge in improper talk is unwholesome, unfitting, uglifying, debasing, defiling.
We are being told today that all sex is beautiful and natural, that it is in the same class as any of our bodily desires or urges, and therefore, we should feel free to satisfy it as openly as we do any other of our bodily needs, without shame or apology.
This idea that all sex, any sex, is natural and beautiful is a lie. Like all powerful lies, it derives its strength from being based upon a partial truth. It is true that sex is related to our physical body like hunger or thirst or the need to sleep or any other physical urge. But what is never said is that these other urges also require regulation and control. They are not indulged in at will, any time, any place.
Like these other natural urges, sex requires regulation and restraint. And the intended regulation of sex is marriage! Marriage is the way to regulate sex so that it is right and wholesome and beneficial. Anything else becomes a violation, not only of propriety in Christian society but of elementary humanity as well. One thing is clearly true: Sex is obviously much more complicated that any other of our natural urges. It requires a partner, which no other urge does. And it is not only a physical union but a psychological union as well. In fact, and this is what is so often forgotten, it is the psychological union that is the more important of the two.
Sex is intended to be a total union of two beings, and only in marriage is such a total union possible. It is the giving of two people to each other totally—body, soul, and spirit—with all their possessions, their name, everything they own. Only in marriage is that kind of a union possible.
Father, I pray that I may heed these important words and take them to heart, not to read them lightly or to forget them and give myself to improper practices and improper thoughts.
Here's a nice one from YouTube:
So, let's sing it together. Here it is to the tune of "The Rose". Kind of nice too.

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He?ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.
Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.

Foot is getting a little better now, Mr Jones the consultant, seems happy with it, (he's Welsh, I think he's also chapel you know) I'm still visiting the hospital and the health center regularly, not going out much yet though, so I've been having a look over in Flickr quite a lot, and now I'm getting back to scanning some slides up for posting. I lost all my confidence at doing things so it feels a bit of a struggle getting back to normal, got rid of the hot water bottles and have a nice snug electric underblanket, going to see what you all make of my latest writings in manna, just written one tract. Michael.
Hi Pat,
I loved the You Tube singing. How are you doing? Dan is moving to my place and I have been busy. Talk to you soon.
The weather is bright, but cold. I'm still wearing my winter coat.
Love Ruthie :D :D :D
Six -year-old Brandon decided one Saturday morning to fix his parents pancakes. He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on the floor.
He scooped some of the flour into the bowl with his hands, mixed in most of a cup of milk and added some sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor which by now had a few tracks left by his kitten.
Brandon was covered with flour and getting frustrated. He wanted this to be something very good for Mom and Dad, but it was getting very bad.
He didn't know what to do next, whether to put it all into the oven or on the stove and he didn't know how the stove worked! Suddenly he saw his kitten licking from the bowl of mix and reached to push her away, knocking the egg carton to the floor. Frantically he tried to clean up this monumental mess but slipped on the eggs, getting his pajamas white and sticky.
And just then he saw Dad standing at the door. Big crocodile tears welled up in Brandon 's eyes. All he'd wanted to do was something good, but he'd made a terrible mess. He was sure a scolding was coming, maybe even a spanking. But his father just watched him.
Then, walking through the mess, he picked up his crying son, hugged him and loved him, getting his own pajamas white and sticky in the process!
That's how God deals with us.. We try to do something good in life, but it turns into a mess... Our marriage gets all sticky or we insult a friend, or we can't stand our job, or our health goes sour.
Sometimes we just stand there in tears because we can't think of anything else to do. That's when God picks us up and loves us and forgives us, even though some of our mess gets all over Him.
But just because we might mess up, we can't stop trying to "make pancakes" for God or for others. Sooner or later we'll get it right, and then they'll be glad we tried...
I was thinking and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed, friendships that need rekindling or three words needing to be said. Sometimes, "I love you" can heal & bless! Remind every one of your friends that you love them. Even if you think they don't love back, you would be amazed at what those three little words, a smile, and a reminder like this can do.
:)
Liz
My dad would simply have belted me black and blue for making such a mess.
Hi everyone. This has been a nice day with very mild weather. We had a good church service this morning and then 13 of us went to lunch at a bar-b-que place close to the church. As a result we got home at a very good time.
I laid down, napped a little and then watched some of the fine basketball games played today. I then worked on getting my desktop setup the way I wanted it, including updating some of the software. I just about have everything in good shape and should easily finish it up tomorrow as only have a luncheon to attend tomorrow and have the rest of the day free (at least at this point). Now I am trying to catch up with the message boards.
Pat, thanks for the devotional for this week. Glad to see you are safely back in Guelph and hope you will be feeling better tomorrow.
Etta Sue, a good nights sleep does wonders.
Gord, glad to see you are having the opportunity to spend so much time with your grandchildren. This was and is something we have missed in our family. However, I knew what this met when I was growing up as spent lots of time with my grandparents and it met the world to me.
Liz, sorry to hear of the medical problems for you and the members of your family. It appears that we in the USA are headed for the same type of health system you all have. Right now we can be seen when needed without long delays.
Michael, good to see that you are feeling a little better. Hope the progress continues.
Ruthie, good to see you posting. It has been awhile.
Just had a thought as I was about to close down, I decided on scanning just one more picture, its been posted in architecture. The thought was what many other Christians state, and that is, we are all unique, made individually, with all our weaknesses and talents, (I feel a tract coming on) the way we think and see things, and interpret just what we see. I think this photograph goes a long way to proving that God's uniquness is built into each and everyone of us. Take this building for instance, it was completed in 2006, not tall as skyscrapers go, but nothing like it where I live. However since it went up, it has attracted photographers by the thousands, and I've looked at hundreds of photographs, and not one is the same, same building, but like snowflakes not two pictures alike or ideas. its just a little bit of proof that we have been made in the image of our Creator, we are his handiwork, and through creative activity we try to be just like our heavenly father, just like that little story of Brandon there, trying to feel he could create something nice for mum and dad, just like mum makes.

Pat: What a lovely song - their harmony is so smooth. Thank you.
Al: The little places to eat are often the best & your view sounds super.
Liz: Hi - it is really hard to get rid of neck pain because everything we do seems to be related to that area. Am sure you have tried all the things - warm wraps - even those pillows that are conformed with a deep hollow for your head that support your neck? I used one for quite some time but it was hard to continue since I like a little pillow. Take care.
Hi Larry: Your southern meal sounds very good to me. I am working hard at trying to get this BP down - it is a mystery because my numbers are good usually. Suppose I must make a dr. appointment.
Summicron: I like your post on architecture and the uniqueness in every human.
It is cooling down nicely tonight and the breeze is really chilly so the house should stay cool. We didn't sleep well last night so now counting the days until our rental is over. Missing family too much. We watched daughter & g-son last night as they were talking about a hockey weekend - I meant to say we watched them on the computer with the video cam they have & we have bought an inexpensive one ourselves. Don will use it for his two teleconferences this week. I just have to remember not to walk behind him in the kitchen :o - who knows who is watching. So, I open the garage door and go around the kitchen through the garage & front door just to stay away from that camera.
Well Liz, I think we "adults" sometimes try to do things for our Father in Heaven when we really haven't learned how yet - and we make a mess too. Oh there's so much to be learned! It's too much like my father-in-law used to say - "Alan, what's your hurry?"
Hi, friends,
Well, I didn't make it to church because I was really feeling under the weather. Now, it seems to have cleared up. What a great blessing that our church has begun putting the minister's sermons online, so I'll be able to listen to him as I drink my morning tea.
Pat thank you for that message. I truly appreciate you and how blest we are to be able to be here at CP.
Late yesterday I felt that it might help if I went the 1/2 block up the street to the chapel service. But, didn't dare walk as bad as I felt. Well, the back rear tire on my car was flat. How great it was to rejoice that my son has put me on his AAA account, and I could call for assistance, then someone sat with me while I was waiting and we had a nice conversation.
So, although I missed the service, it certainly was great to feel safe, protected, and cared for. :)
Y'all have a wonderful day.
Ruth Ann
Hi Pat,
I tried to post a short spiritual story based on bible verses
but it went on limbo. I don't know whether I did something wrong in the process
or it simply got lost in computer glitz.
Happy Easter,
Laughing Peppers
When you do anything like that its usually best to type it as a word document then copy and past it over to wherever you want it, I've done it myself, and you get this horrible feeling everything you've taken so much time write out has just vanished and is unrecoverable, yes we are human, and prone to not thinking, that's how I managed to burn my foot on a hot water bottle, put it in the bottom of the bed unintentionally, and when I got in never thought to remove it, and got a wonderful collection of some beautiful blisters, for some stupid reason it just didn't occur to to me to shift it. The problem is can you remember all the things you wanted to say in that story, to re-write it again?

It could be that when you posted, someone else was posting at the same time and you may have not noticed the red text saying that and then thinking that your post was posted, it wasn't.
I'm sorry you had a problem.

Long morning. I went with Ivalou to her cardiologist. She was in there an hour...was wondering why so long. When she came out she said she had to go downstairs. There she got an echo-gram and we left an hour after going downstairs with her wearing a heart monitor. She has to wear it for 24 hours. All routine to see if there are any changes from last year!
Then we went to O'Charleys for lunch. I forgot to use my Gift Certificate!! Ivalou had a couple of books to pick up at the library and then we both got some groceries at Marsh's.
I have blood work done at 9:45 in the morning so Ivalou will decide if she wants to go with me, then have breakfast and then go somewhere for a couple of hours to have her heart monitor taken off after 1pm. Hmmm! Wonder if there is a good movie to see!
Kitty got a call today. Her heart cath has been rescheduled to Wednesday! {{{HUGS}}} {{{HUGS}}} {{{HUGS}}} {{{HUGS}}} {{{HUGS}}}

Hello to all: I had a quiet but busy day, made some phone calls as we are making plans for a 90th birthday lunch, there will be 20 approx and as it stands I think all will be able to be there.
Later on I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies lots of calories but who would enjoy one with their tea or coffee, perhaps even hot chocolate.
Pat: How long will you be in Canada? Good to see you back.
Now I will call it a day and enjoy a couple of programs on the t.v.
Ruth
Hi everyone. This has been a nice day as the weather has been great. I enjoyed a nice lunch with my group of men friends. This afternoon I finished up restoring my desktop computer and then cloned it to another hard drive and now have a hard drive to keep on the shelf. I am going to try to clone every three or four months to keep things fresh.
Tomorrow I plan on putting the additional memory in Pat's computer and cloning her computer so that we have a good backup.
If only I knew what you meant about "cloning your computer".
Oh that's simple, it means there are programmes that make a complete copy of everything on your main hard drive, as an image, stores it on a second hard disk drive, then if the computer fails or crashes, the programme restores everything back the way it was before the crash. I think one of the programmes is called Norton ghost, very, very useful.
Here is the lost short story:
I feel now is the best time to share this spiritual experience.
The Reluctant Pilgrim
Amid disturbing world news that highlights the never-ending hostilities targeting Israel, one would think that it would be complete madness, if not suicidal, to travel to such a volatile place. And yet, I found myself in Milan International Airport, staring at an electronic sign with its colorful pixels glaring back at me, spelling out the Air Alitalia Flight departing for Tel Aviv. Along with my wife, I would soon board the aircraft, together with the other pilgrims from St. Thomas More Church. We were to fly to The Holy Land.
Three weeks earlier, there was a great battle going on in my head. As much as I wanted to visit The Holy Land, I was also dreadfully aware of the potential danger that could ignite at any time along the way. My wife had to persuade me to join the pilgrimage. Her persistence and the irresistible opportunity to photograph the biblical and historical places were instrumental in somewhat overpowering my reservations about the trip.
As we waited for the shuttle bus that would take us to the tarmac, the fear once again managed to creep into my veins. It was corroding my nervous system. The "what If?" revived the old nagging thoughts. Maybe there is a terrorist on board? A suicide bomber perhaps? What about being blown up in the sky? Whoa!! The self-induced paranoia was choking me. I needed something to divert my thoughts. I took some candid shots of our group who seemed undeterred by what was happening in the Middle East. Thanks to my camera, it calmed me down. Before I knew it, we were airborne and there was no turning back. I heard myself praying, "Dear God, I know that The Holy Land has been photographed countless times by many talented photographers. What I will be shooting are just repetitions of their work, but if there is something you want me to shoot, lead me to it and please deliver me back home safely so I can share it, too. Amen."
As I looked out the plane's window, the clouds below were like huge formations of fluffy cotton. I was marvelling at their beauty when suddenly something strange caught my eye. Out of nowhere, a glint of colors appeared then magically transformed into a circular rainbow. The circle of colors was captivating but when the shadow of our aircraft mysteriously revealed itself inside it, I was mystified. My heart started pounding heavily as I asked myself, "Is this an omen? Is God telling me something?" I sensed something very special was happening. The circular rainbow enclosing the airplane's shadow was like God's way of saying that His angels were escorting our flight. The very thought of it reassured me and dispelled all of my fears. The ghostly sign lasted approximately six seconds, but in that brief duration, I was able to quickly snap a picture of it before it drifted away in rays of light. The mystical experience left me wondering if there was an underlying message somehow connected to the unforeseen events of my life.
"Blessed are those who come." That was the heading of the brochure that was provided by the travel agency. It does feel that way when one's foot touches the Holy Ground. Walking along the path of our Lord's footsteps was spiritually uplifting. Any Christian would feel the presence of Jesus in every step of the way. The journey to The Holy Land was like a homecoming. I grew up knowing about Nazareth as if it was my hometown. The city did not appear exactly the way Hollywood portrayed it in movies, but just like other biblical places in the region, it made me feel welcome. From Bethlehem where Jesus was born to the hilltop of Golgotha where He was crucified, the pilgrimage re-defined my Christian faith. I gained a deeper understanding of Jesus. And for the first time, I felt the pain of Mary, the mother who witnessed the rejection, humiliation and torture of her Son, who died for our sins.
The first five days of the Seven-Day tour of Israel earned me hundreds of beautiful images of The Holy Land. From those shots, I could easily merge photojournalism and travel photography to create a good slide show presentation of the pilgrimage. But, I still felt empty. Something was missing in the shots.
On the sixth day, towards the evening, God filled the void. Before me was the most compelling picture of all. At the courtyard of the Holy Sepulchre Church, I shot the perfect photographic interpretation of a verse in the gospel of Matthew. "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven." It was the collective silhouette of my fellow pilgrims that was highlighted by the bright radiating light in the background.
In the afternoon of the final day, the tour guide took our group back to Jerusalem for personal free time. The majority of the group took my wife to explore the souvenir shops, while I wandered around on my own, taking more photos. And just when I thought I had shot enough, I saw two cute little Jewish schoolgirls walking together from a distance. In a game of catch-me-if-you-can, the bubbly one in the red dress sprinted ahead of the other girl. At this point, my reflex took charge and nailed the flow of her motion in three digital shots. It was the second frame that best captured the expression and running action of the little girl. Her happy innocent face was a mirrored contrast to the hostilities between her people and the neighboring countries. Why can't there be a lasting peace in this land? I paused for a moment, thinking for answers when in my subconscious I heard the words of Jesus, "Let the children alone and do not hinder them from coming to me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." This verse summed up what is required from us in order to become the perfect followers of Christ. If we could only have the nature of a child, then hatred and vengeance would have no place among nations. Our faith in God would be unquestioning, unwavering and in full surrender. Then it occurred to me that the photo of the little girl was the shot. It was the shot I prayed for. God answered and led me to it. Unlike the massive walls of Jerusalem, God's message has neither form nor shape, but it took the face of a child to make it clear and visible.
By the time we left Israel, I had more than three thousand digital images to take home, but only three of them can sum up the spiritual maturity that I gained from the pilgrimage. The photos of our plane in the rainbow, the pilgrims and the little girl are the key images that unlocked the door to the wonderful gift seeing. The images widened the perspective of the way I see things around me. While my art in photography found a new angle to focus on, I discovered a new color of the rainbow. And that is the color of God's unconditional love for me and the rest of the world.
HAPPY EASTER,
Laughing Peppers
Thank you, Laughing Peppers, for that report on your visit to the Holy Land. This blessed my heart so much to read and try to visualize what you were seeing and feeling. Thank you again!

What a riveting account of your trip!
I hope that maybe we could post that in a topic all of its own somewhere on the site so that it doesn't "get lost" in the back posts. I'd love to see the three photos with it.
Thank you so much for sharing it here.
Hi Janice!
I think of you often. Hope you are both keeping well.
Just a smile for you all...

Forgetter Be Forgotten
My forgetter's getting better,
But my rememberer is broke
To you that may seem funny
But, to me, that is no joke
For when I'm 'here' I'm wondering
If I really should be 'there'
And, when I try to think it through,
I haven't got a prayer!
Oft times I walk into a room,
Say 'what am I here for?'
I wrack my brain, but all in vain!
A zero, is my score.
At times I put something away
Where it is safe, but, Gee!
The person it is safest from
Is, generally, me!
When shopping I may see someone,
Say 'Hi' and have a chat,
Then, when the person walks away
I ask myself, 'who the hell was that?'
Yes, my forgetter's getting better
While my rememberer is broke,
And it's driving me plumb crazy
And that isn't any joke.
Thank you Janice and Pat. It is my joy to share it to you.
I am glad you like the spiritual message attached to my short story.
Pat, you have seen the three photos already.
"The Rainbow and The Shadow" was the photo that won the first place in the Mini Challenge: That is Not Natural,
"As Trusting As A Child" won second place in the following challenge:The Holy Bible Says.
and the "Let Your Light Shine" was an entry in the The Holy Bible Says.

That is a nice poem, Pat.
It kind of remind me of myself.
Did you write it? It is very well written.
Thanks for sharing,
Laughing Peppers
Thank you, so much, for sharing the story that goes with the pictures. As I read, I remembered seeing the pictures you spoke of.
Pat, I think that poem could apply to a lot of us, but I can't remember why I think that.
YOu are too funny Jane.
This has been a quiet COLD day. I have the fire going but there is no getting warm. It is a damp day and I guess that is why.
The snow is about gone and tonight and tomorrow there is to be rain. That should take care of the rest of the snow, and begin the cleanup of winter. We have a lot of scraping to do with the dogs and we will begin that when the rain stops.
Here is a song we sang on Sunday.
Father I have sinned,
Help me find my way.
Remember not my sins
Just let me hear you say:
I forgive you;
I love you;
You are mine;
Take my hand.
Go in peace;
Sin no more,
Beloved one.
Father I have turned
my back and walked away.
Depended on my strength
And lived my life my own way.
Father I have closed
my heart to those in need,
Thought only of myself,
a victim of my greed
Father I have loved
if love's the word to use.
I've played so many games;
they've left me so confused.
Father I've returned.
I'm home with you to stay,
Standing by your door,
Knowing that you'll say
I forgive you;
I love you;
You are mine;
Take my hand.
Go in peace;
Sin no more,
Beloved one.
Judy - that's an interesting song. I must admit, though, that I have a small problem with it. Those who sing it will naturally take it quite personally - as though God were speaking to them. But yet it's not actually Scripture. What would you think? Could it be substituted for Scripture? Would anyone take it that way? What do you think?

I am running way behind today. First I had the blood draw this morning and then Ivalou and I had breakfast. We asked the waitress if it was okay to sit there and drink coffee awhile so we stayed there until almost noon. Then we went to the theater and saw 'Slumdog Millionaire'. I know it won a lot of Oscars and maybe even the movie of the year...I can't remember (my rememberer is broke). It was good. I did enjoy it. Different. And Ivalou and I were the only ones in the theater. I don't know how theaters afford to do that.
Then we went to the cardiologist for the heart monitor to be removed from Ivalou. Then to the Dollar General and we had a late lunch/early supper at KFC. Then home.
I can't believe it but I am tired.
I want to take up my padding in the bathroom so it can go in the trash Thursday morning and be gone!
Tomorrow Kitty has her heart cath.tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la

Hi everyone. I agree with you all that the poem Pat posted also applies to me and it seems to get worse each year. I start to do something and see something else that I do and then forget about the other item for a time. I am noticing I am saying "I forgot" a lot more often now.
Mario, thanks for sharing with us. Glad your trip was so worthwhile and know you are glad you went. We have friends who recently visited the Holy Land and really enjoyed it.
Pat, cloning makes an exact duplicate from one disk to a second disk. When the process is completed you must, before turning the computer back on, switch the cabeling from the old "c" to the newly cloned disk and reboot, otherwise at a future date it will not boot. Why that is I do not understand but I can tell you from experience that is true. My good friend Rod had been after me to do the cloning so I did it but didn't immediately reboot and when I went to use it later the cloned disk wouldn't work. It sounds worse than it is. You can get the software you need to do the cloning from the Maxtor website. I think the current version is Maxtor 5 and is based on the Acronis backing up software but it is free to download and use. After you reboot the newly cloned disk you can switch the cabeling back to the "C" drive and continue to use it. You don't have to install the disk you are cloning to but just lay it on the frame of the computer and hook up cabeling.
I did install the new memory in Pat's computer this afternoon. It took me a few tries as wasn't pushing hard enough to get the memeory set (needed to hear it snap in place and see the little levels at the end in an upright position. Then I started to do the cloning process and found the disk I have requires different cabeling then I have so that is going to have to wait and I have asked my friend to help me get the cabeling installed once I get the right thing.
Tomorrow we will be headed to Florida to visit Pat's aunt. We will go just part way tomorrow and the rest of the way on Thursday, which gets us there in mid-afternoon. Just hope we don't have to drive too much in the rain, which is suppose to move in here tonight. I need to check the weather for the next few days in St. Petersburg, where we will be staying. We plan to leave early Sunday morning and drive back home. I think we will probably drive all the way back since we have more hours of daylight.
I just checked to see if I could use the 20 hours of dialup time that comes with my DSL account but they do not have a local number. I will take my laptop and probably go to the library to use the high speed connection available. I am sure I could also go over to Pat's cousin's house, where we stayed last year, as they have high speed internet service.
Mario: Thanks for sharing.
Larry: Cloning is beyond my skills but it is wonderful that others have that gift and are not afraid to try.
Just got a phone call from my brother in law telling us that his youngest son has yet another medical problem added to his list. Spinal Bifida. Those of us that are well have so much to be thankful for and yes I am thankful.
It has been a windy cool day. Ruth
:) Good evening to all. The days seem to go so fast. Since last posting we went to a 60th birthday party and had a wonderful time. Then we drove back home on Saturday so that we could be home for church on Sunday. We had a good service as we had a guest speaker tell about the new ministry that they are going to start in London England. They are going to church plant wright in the middle of the Muslim area so you could all pray for this family as this is a very hard move to leave a pastorate after 8 years. But they feel it is Gods will.
Larry: I hope that you have a wonderful time away but that seems very short time. Please drive carefully
Pat: Thanks for the devotional and also the song on my tube I also watched some of the other older ones that were on there some with Johnny Cash and his wife when they were very young and also Dean Martin and Johnny Carson also very funny. Also for the other songs. Love ya Sis and say hi to Paul
Al; How are you doing ? Hope that your legs are getting better.
To all others may the Lord bless you all the rest of this week. <3
Al I take that song os one of repentance and forgiveness from our Father.
This has been a rather unusual day. One daughter was to come home late and the other early...on time, but the roles were reversed. Kassie was on time and Elizabeth was late. They did get the majority of the remaining wood in though.
I got to reading a book tonight. I know better, but it was a good book. Afraid of not waking up in time I am staying up the last two hours before the alarm goes off. Won't do this again any time soon.
HAve a good day folds and God bless.
Hi everyone. We are making the last minute preparations and expect to leave perhaps by 11 am. Pat is drying her hair under the hair dryer. I think we are about all packed up except for the last minute suitcase.
Pat suggested we stay off the Interstate so will use some less traveled road for at least awhile. We will always be fairly close to I-75 so can get back to it easily if the State highways become too tiring. You have to go through a lot of little towns and deal with slower speeds. However, we are in no particular hurry.
It is a bit misty here this morning although not really raining. I think that is to start more later today and hopefully after we leave the area.
Ruth, it sounds like you nephew has a lot of health problems and the new one sounds so serious.
Hope everyone has a great day. My next check in will likely be from Florida unless I get online tonight a the motel in Valdosta or whereever we stay.

I thought of Kitty when I woke up this morning. I have never had a heart cath so I don't know what she is going through but I can only imagine how much it stresses your mind. But she is in God's hands and you just can't have it better than that!
It is a dark and gloomy day. We have a bunch of small homes about a couple of blocks away. A man by the name of Bays used to own the land so we call it Baystown. Anyway, the dusk to dawn/street lights are still on so that shows you how dark and gloomy it is. Rain on the windows woke me before daylight. Water drops are on the front window. We need rain though.
Today my plans are to get the padding off the bathroom floor, pull up the staples, clean the floor, put down the filler and paint the woodwork! That's all!
Then tomorrow, the vinyl!

Good Morning to one and all. Mario I loved your story of your trip to the Holy Land. It was so captivating. I would dearly love to visit Israel. I too remember the photos you mentioned.
Well almost everything is offloaded from the truck. All that is left is the bed, the china cabinet and 3 tubs and a crate. The truck gets turned in tomorrow.
Happy has been favoring one front paw and I can't find anything wrong with his paw,. He keeps licking it and limping when I take him out to potty. He has also developed an ear infection n both ears, which is a common occurrence in dogs with floppy ears. He has had them before but never in both at the same time. I called his Vet in McKinleyville and she is mailing up the medicine . I have washed both ears with the ear wash and have been putting in the warmed drops twice per day, I have enough to last until the new meds get here.
I have been unpacking and putting things away and rearranging things now for two days and by the end of the day I am so tired that I have been asleep by 8 pm and not waking up until 6 am.
I still don't have my own computer set up, we are waiting until this weekend to clean up and rearrange the room used as an office, there is a beautiful glass covered mahogany Art-Deco desk that belonged to Keith's parents just sitting here in the corner that I will be using.
Back to work on getting the stuff into the house from the garage.
Marilyn - glad to hear that you're at least somewhat settled in. You'll be happy to know that it's raining down here.
Hello Everyone!
It's raining here too, Alan!
Hope everyone is having a great day and I hope that we hear from you later from your motel, Larry! Have a wonderful rest.
Anyone missing Janet?
I sure hope she's having a great time.
Have you ALL voted?

Hey Al .. It's raining here, too! ;) But that's to be expected -- after all, this is Oregon.
Yes, Pat ... I do miss Janet and I have voted. I received a copy of the book Janet and her sister wrote. Pretty interesting, and I can relate to much of what they wrote about.
When does she get back, Jane?
I remember she said she'd be away 32 days I think but I'm not sure when she left.
Yep it sure is raining here too. I voted.
I voted and yes it is raining here too. We are under a winter storm watch. There is still the problem with freezing rain.
Gracious! I was just talking to a gal on Photography Cafe who lives in Kenora, Judy and she got some really great snow photos today.
It's cold here but no snow.

Pat, Janet posted this on the 13th:
"Today is our last day at home before we will be away for 34 days! Boy, that sounds like a long time---bet we will be more than ready to come home!"You know she always posts in bold blue, right? :D
I voted, too, Pat. Thanks for giving us that link!
I slept most of the afternoon away after the ear tube insert procedure just before lunchtime.
They did it with a laser and I actually saw the "tour" of my eardrum on the tv in front of me as they searched for a place without scarring in which to make the hole with the laser so the tube could be inserted. And as I heard the loud pop and felt the pain, I could also see clearly the hole the laser made. My, what changes since I was a little gal with ear infections!
There's a possibility I won't have to have a tube inserted ever again, for this is planned to last many years unless I find a way to develop an inflammation in the eustacian tube even with the t-tube in place. That would be a good thing - I don't like the level of pain endured with one of these procedures, but then again, I'm mighty thankful after it's over and I can look forward to a number of months without an infection! ::)
I was going to take a digital camera course at the senior citizens ctr, but it was cancelled for lack of students. So, I bravely took my camera with me, and attempted to capture the beauty of the blossoming trees going down the driveway to my apartment house. Now, to work on getting it off the camera, into the computer, and then set up for y'all to see! My, My, challenges aplenty!
Larry: Taking the "Road Less Traveled" ;)
JudyB: LOL on staying up all night. We almost did the same because we kept waking - our minds were filled with fretting over getting up by 4 AM to take our friends to the airport. They call us the best of friends now :D We ate a breakfast after 5 AM and came back here to snooze - the phone rang so I just gave up after little snoozing.
RuthAnn: Wonderful that there is finally a permanent answer to your ear problems. Take care.
Our daughter is flying in tomorrow for a short visit - well, at least we hope she makes it here because there is a blizzard going on now. Springtime in the Rockies - that is a sure thing to have a blizzard.

I'm done!!! My bathroom floor is done! I did the remaining bits yesterday. Yeah, I know. I didn't get to bed until 2am but it is all done and finished. When I walk past the bathroom, I first think water is on the floor but it is the shiny ebony marble vinyl! I think I am going to like it even if my son says years from now this is the black vinyl that Mom put down that is so hard to keep clean! Oh, well!
Now I am vegging out. Time to slow down and smell the roses. My philosphy is that if I live to be a 100 I need to slow down or I won't have anything to do when I'm 90! ;D :D MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Well they had the snow Pat....And can keep it!. we had rain but not enough to cause any major problems, it is damp and cold here, I think it is the dampness that bothers me the most.
I was able to get to bed early last night and feel a lot better today. The girls got up and let me sleep. Last night Kass had a killer headache and I felt the lack of sleep was the problem.
Have you heard about the problem along the Red River? I know Manitoba has major flooding and there is flooding in the US of A along the Red River as well. There have been people evacuated from their homes. We need to pray for them during this time.
It sure feels a bit odd jumping into what is clearly a precious and caring community of believers where everyone seems to know each other. I hope you all won't mind if I say hello and mention how wonderful the forum here seems to be. I'm sitting at work with a fresh cup o' joe and thinking how miserable to commute home will be, but the posts I've been reading here have made me smile. :)
SM - you'll have to tell us what that stands for, so we can call you by what sounds more like a name! You're sure welcome to "jump right in." We're really glad to have you here. Personally, I hope you'll hop in often to let us know what our Lord is doing in your life. He's the One Who makes all the difference.
Hi Scott. I just went to the "introductions" folder and discovered you'd already told us what you name is. Please forgive me - I'm usually late!
I too am a pastor. I don't do a lot of photography, though. I do have a digital, and I post an occasional pic, but not like others here. What church do you pastor, Scott?
-Al
Scott, it's wonderful to have you in here in our "Coffee Shop"
We sing a bit, share a bit and generally talk about our plans.
how was your commute home? Was it as bad as you contemplated?
Speaking of singing, what a wonderful hymn this is! Just imagine that Day by Day, we are led by our Father. How wonderful to realize that He is there right with us.
Let's sing it together...

Words by Lina Berg
Music by Oscar Ahnfelt
Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best
Lovingly, it's part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and with rest.
Ev'ry day the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He whose name is Counselor and Pow'r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
This the pledge to me He hath made.
Help me then in ev'ry tribulation
So to trust thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith's sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy Holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
'Til I reach the blessed, promised land.

Yes it was a depressing day - We did get bad news and yet in my heart I did know it was coming. The Lord does and gives us the strength to go on.
Mel has gone curling which is the last for the season I guess that means it soon will be time to cut grass instead shovel snow.
It is time to relax with my knitting and the T.V.

Al, yes, I am a "tentmaker" pastor, I work full time and am one of three pastors at Grace Family Church in Friendswood, TX (just between Houston and Galveston). We have one full time pastor and two like me. If God wills, we are seeking to plant a new church in the future, so I am hoping to be called there and will be able to support my family and preach the Word - full time!
Pat, thanks for the warm welcome here in the various threads. My commute was uneventful, and that's how I like 'em. Usually its a 30-40 minute drive from the city to the burbs, but with the rain it was an hour and 20 minutes. Good time to use learning, so I usually listen to sermons, lectures and various things like that. I actually enjoy my commute if its not terrible weather.
Scott
Thanks Scott for your reply. I was wondering how your commute would be. Do you have sermons on CDs that you listen to?
I was just going to look for an online sermon of John Piper's to listen to. I had seen the title of it some time ago and hope that I find it.
Can't find a midi file for this wonderful hymn so I just enjoy reading the words. It's a hymn on the Welsh Hymnmakers CD and it's just beautiful to hear the male choir singing it.
Hope you all enjoy the words.
Lots of meaning in them.
The Enormous Load of Human Guilt
The enormous load of human guilt
Was on my Saviour laid;
With woes as with a garment He
For sinners was arrayed.
And in the fearful pangs of death
He wept, He prayed for me;
Loved and embraced my guilty soul
When nailed to the tree.
O love amazing! love beyond
The reach of human tongue;
Love which shall be the subject of
An everlasting song.
Eternity, though infinite,
Is short enough to trace
The virtues of His healing wounds,
The wonders of His grace.
Ye men, rejoice in Jesu's blood,
Ye angels, join your lays;
In one harmonious endless choir
Sing His eternal praise.
William Williams, 1717-1791
Hi everyone and welcome Scott. We are always happy to see new folks join in with us and very shortly you will feel right at home here.
We made it safely to Florida about 1:45 this afternoon and are enjoying visiting with Pat's aunt. Unfortunately she has become very hard of hearing and seems to have a hard time hearing my voice but can hear Pat. Pat's cousin and her husband also live here in St. Petersburg and they stopped by for a few minutes this evening. It is hot down here and the air conditioning isn't working. It is very humid but has cooled down a little. They are in drought conditions here as we are in Georgia.
We really enjoyed our trip yesterday to Valdosta as we went on a State highway almost all the way with hardly any traffic and very good roads. It took an extra hour or so on the road but was much less stressful. The drive today was on I-75, which involved a lot of traffic, but we had no problems.
I have read all the postings but am tired as it is fairly late and I am about ready to retire for the night.
Welcome, SM. My dad was a bivocational pastor, so I can easily imagine you going about your daily duties and having a big heart full of love for your flock. God bless you, and thank you for becoming our newest family member.
Greetings to everyone else. Etta Sue, I'll imagine how beautiful that bathroom floor is. Congratulations on a job well done.
It was an extremely busy day today, but ended up well with me attending an extremely interesting, challenging, and rewarding spanish class. :)
Y'all have a great rest of the day, wherever you are.

I was just going to look for an online sermon of John Piper's to listen to. I had seen the title of it some time ago and hope that I find it.
I do indeed, I get them from several different vendors and ministries. I also like downloading mp3 sermons from sermonaudio and loading them on an ipod. I have a transmitter that I hook up to the ipod and I can get the sermon through my FM radio in the car, it sounds more difficult than it really is. The ipod lets me have hundreds of hours of sermons, hymns and even seminary lectures ready to go at all times. Technology, though often frustrating, can be such a blessing!
My wife just listened to Dr. Piper's sermon series on Job, she was very moved by God's dealing with Job and we were blessed. Dr. Piper is very good, one of my favorites. I also like Paul Washer, he's a bold Gospel preacher of the sort we desperately need. Another of my favorites is Dr. Voddie Baucham, he was my elder for a time and also played a part in discipling me and my fellow elder in pastoral things, so there's a soft spot there. But if anyone is looking for bold preaching, both Washer and Baucham have preached alongside Dr. Piper at the Desiring God conferences and are of the same theological flavor.
Thanks for all the kind words, I was just sharing with my wife how thrilled I am to have discovered this forum. :)
Well it is nearly midnight. Kass still has a headache, this was day three. She has been sick to her tummy as well so tomorrow to the clinic. I wish I could get her into the Doctor. That is a 2 week waiting period to just get an appointment. The joys of our medical system.
I was unaware that Dana had not been kenneled for the night. I walked from the TV room to the kitchen to check emails and she followed me. She went to a doggie bed curled up and is sawing logs! The bed is too small for her, she keeps on trying to curl up tighter so she fits! Silly dog. She is above sleeping on the floor.
Well I must get some sleep. Big day ahead of me.
Good night everyone, God bless each of you with a restful sleep.
:) Good evening to all. We are having some rain in the Niagara region today but earlier today was able to do a little bit of yard work. I was able to take the wrapping of the evergreen trees and my blue spruce tree. So the day was not a waist of time. In the morning I was at the mission this morning and it was very quiet for the first part then the last 45mins. it got very busy. It is so amazing how God supplies the needs for the mission always when you need them. We also had friends arrive from Florida today and they are staying for two nights so that will be fun.
Larry: I hope that you have a wonderful and restful time in Florida.
Scott: Welcome to our site. May God richly bless you in your ministry and may he grant you the desires of your hart. It is great to you have you here please keep the postings coming.
Ruth Ann. I hope that you have know more problems with your ears. God bless and heal you. Gord.
Hi Al: How are you. I think you have forgot to answer me back. How are the legs doing and are you getting any better sleep. I pray and hope that you are. The Lord bless you.
To all other C.P. peoplemay the Lord give you all a wonderful weekend. God Bless. Gord. <3
Paul Washer is amazing, Scott.
The first time I watched him speak was at a Youth Conference. I think it was on their website and how moving it was. He certainly spoke from the heart.
Sermon Audio is one of my favourite sites. I believe that it was started by a group associated by the Free Presbyterian Church and we used to attend that church when we lived in Toronto. Of course the site has grown so much since it started.
Night Night Gord!
Talk to you soon, Judy.
Just an update, folks!
Judy McKenna
Tomorrow I will be taking Norm to Hamilton and we'll be at the Henderson Hospital while Judy has her second surgery in 4 weeks. This one tomorrow is going to be very different for her though as she's been told that she will no longer walk again. She has to have a "concrete girdle" put in her hip and it will not be able to withstand her body on her legs so she'll be in a wheel chair from now on.
Needless to say, she's very upset by this news. Her house will not be suitable for a wheel chair so she and Norm will have to consider moving.
We had a time of prayer together that the Lord would give her peace through the night before the surgery tomorrow and I prayed that the Great Physician would enfold her in His tender loving arms and give her peace at this time.
Please pray for Judy.
Yes, Pat, I am praying for Judy ... I saw your post this morning on S&F. I will always remember her at the PA/NY bash ... she was such a "trooper" and has come through so much -- and many surgeries -- this must be a very difficult time for her, as well as for Norm. I also will pray that she will be comforted, and at peace, in our Father's arms.
Pat: Thank you for sending along information on Judy. Praying for Judy. These are the tough trials that no one wants to hear. Are you getting closer to moving into the new house?
Welcome to Pastor Scott from Texas! It is good to see you here. We lived in Plano for 9 years and did a little bit of hurricane Rita repair in Port Arthur once. Missing the great seafood!
Etta Sue: Great job!
Today, I hope our daughter makes it to the airport and can catch the plane to visit us. She sent pictures of their heavy snowfall and we found out that there were lots of car crashes yesterday near the Denver area. We are anxious to go home but not interested in driving in another blizzard.
PAt let Judy know she is remembered here on CP and Missed. I am praying for her.
Hi everyone. Pat and I both got a great night's sleep. Pat had a back spasm that gave her fits all evening and she was terribly miserable. However, this morning it seems to be gone and she is feeling fine.
It is overcast here in Florida this morning and so far it is comfortable, if a bit humid, here in the house. We all slept late and then lingered over the breakfast table and now the ladies are getting ready for the day. We need to go to the grocery store for a few items for dinner tonight. Pat will make spaghetti with meatballs and a salad and then we will have fresh strawberries with ice cream and chocolate sauce. We had strawberries fixed that way last evening and it was very good.
Scott, I have not heard of either of the ministers you mentioned. I made a note of them for future reference.
Judy, sorry to read that you still have a sick daughter.
Gord, how often do you work at the mission?
Pat, thanks for sharing the information on Judy. She is a lady who must have a lot of grit as she has certainly endured a lot and looks so fragile. Glad you can help Norm to get to the hospital.
Carol, I saw on the weather map last night Colorado, or a good portion of it, covered in white. Hope the snow storms are over by the time you get back to your home in Colorado. We are also seeing the stories of the terrible flooding in the Fargo, North Dakota area. Such tragedy.
Etta Sue, I saw your note that you had completed the floor in your bathroom. You are a very resourceful person. Hope your friend didn't find the angiogram too stressful. I have had many of them and, while not pleasant, are certainly very tolerable and there is a quick recovery. What did they find?
Ruth Ann, hope your ear is feeling much better now. It has been a long time since I had an earache but still remember it is a very unpleasnt experience.

Scott!
I am getting used to seeing 'water' on the bathroom floor. Ivalou came over yesterday and she was impressed!
Larry ~ Kitty is home. Seems they did the heart cath through an artery in her right arm. Small artery. She said she didn't feel the 'cut' but felt it in her artery. So they had to keep pushing her drugs. Thank God, she has no blockages. She was to come home at 9 that night but had to stay. She had a bleed where they cut her arm. Then she was allergic to the dye! So she was vomiting. She is allergic to fish and I guess the dye has some fishy stuff in it! She got home yesterday afternoon but isn't to use her arm for 4 days and of course, keep watch that it doesn't bleed again. So she typed me an email with her left hand. She got in the shower and said she felt much better. I think they are going to check her thyroid now to find out why she is so tired all the time and out of breath! She said if that is okay then it is her She's 66.
Pat ~ Thanks for the post on Judy Mc. Please give her my love. I remember her and Norm so well in Calgary! That would be a hard pill to swallow...knowing you won't walk again. But God will be with her.
JudyB ~ Sorry that Kass is still ill. Hope you find out what is wrong.
Carol ~ I saw pictures of the snow in Denver on Seniors and Friends. The forecast here for Sunday is chances of snow!! Don't want to shovel anymore until Christmas!
Jane ~ Hi to you! Is your rain over?
Gord ~ Spring will be here soon. I didn't even hear them but when I went out for the mail yesterday I saw that the farmers had been out. The field across the road from me had been disked and the field behind Ivalou had been done something to the corn stubble. Today the sod farmer is busy in the field beside of me. Everything is greening up and a prettier brown!
Ruth Ann ~ How interesting...Spanish class. Since my classmate is in Mexico that would be nice to know a little Spanish, too!
Ruth ~ We have depressing days....makes us enjoy the joyful days more.
Last evening I was invited to a Jewelry party at my niece's house....a good diversion from working in the house. I did purchase a pair of earrings...like I need more! Robin has a huge great room and Jeff and her had removed the carpet in there and put down laminate flooring! Glad mine was a small room! But they didn't have to trim around a commode!!
Today...I may rearrange the living room, dust and sweep. Then again, I may not!SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE

Just rushing off to pick Norm up to take him to Hamilton.
Will talk to you all later after I get home from the hospital.
Just finished reading what everyone is busy doing. Earlier in the day I had called my brother in law , he lives farther north than Judy B and guess what, I forgot to ask him what kind of day it was I would think that they still have ice and perhaps snow in the low areas.
Pat so sorry to hear about Judy M problems.
Judy: Yes Mel looked at the Big Bass it is a big one
I did not feel like cooking dinner and since I was already out I brought KFC home.
Will check in again. Ruth
Gord - thanks for asking about my leg situation. The did the wrap on them for about a month and a half, and the swelling came down rather nicely. However, now that it's been a few weeks with just the regular shoes/sox and compression hosiery, the left leg seems to have swelled up just a bit, so I'm praying it won't continue that way. I need to preach at our church this Sunday, so I'm not going to do anything about it until after that's done, as I wouldn't be able to get up to the pulpit/lectern if my legs were all wrapped again! Please continue to pray.
Al Continuing to pray.
About Kass, We had her at the clinic tonight. She is on 3 strong meds. One to ward off the migranes, then a stronger pain killer and finally T3's if nothing else works. If the tummy upset continues or gets worse it will mean a trip to hospital to make sure she doesn't get dehydrated. He diagnosed her with cluster migranes. I have them so does Heather looks like it is a family thing.
John will be home to sleep and drop his laundry tonight then gone tomorrow and home again for the night and gone again Sunday. He won't then be back home till Wednesday. Then he will need to reset his logbook, 36 hours off.
Got to go; have a good sleep tonight everyone.
Your computer keys are sticking again, Judy! HAHAHAHA
Visited Judy McKenna. Just got home. She's in good spirits. Her surgery was cancelled for today and might be tomorrow or Sunday. We just don't know yet.
Norm needs lots of prayer as well. He's just not well. But it was good to be able to drive him down to Hamilton to see Judy and let them have a visit together.
Paul and I have had our devotional time and it's time to go to bed.
What a wonderful devotion we had in our brother Alan's Psalm study in 119 here at this link: http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=2203.0
How it touched my heart tonight.
We have a gold mine here on our site with so many studies so ably put together by Alan.

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name
that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confesss that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11
by Charles. E. Moody
Kneel at the cross,
Christ will meet you there,
Come while he waits for you;
List to his voice,
Leave with him your care
And begin life a new.
Refrain
Kneel at the cross,
Leave every care
Kneel at the cross,
Jesus will meet you there.
Kneel at the cross,
Give your idols up,
Look unto realms above;
Turn not away
To life's sparkling cup;
Trust only in His love.

Hi everyone. It is very warm and muggy here in St. Petersburg. We are awaiting the arrival of the air-conditioning serviceman and sure hope he can get the air-conditioner fixed this morning. Yesterday there was a breeze most of the day that really helped but we don't seem to have that today. It didn't seem to cool off much during the night.
This is our last day in Florida for the present trip. We will leave fairly early tomorrow morning and I plan on driving all the way home tomorrow. We have had a nice visit with Pat's Aunt and her daughter and husband. We will be going to Pat's cousins home this evening for dinner.
Nothing else new down this way.
Etta Sue, glad to hear the good news regarding Kitty's heart. Hope they find out why the tiredness.
Pat, sorry to hear of the delay for Judy. You work up emotionally for a big surgery and then to have it canceled is tough.
JudyB, hope the medications soon have Kass up and going. Nice to hear that John has a few hours at home this weekend.
Hi Ruth and Al and all who venture by today.
Well Kass is up and going. This is the best I have seen her in weeks. Thank you for praying. She had a good night's sleep and "I feel better!"
Thank you, all of you, for praying.
We have a muggy day here today. foggy and a skiff of snow. Tomorrow is to be snow, rain, and freezing rain. Those of you who know the north know the time John is going to have tomorrow, he has to head for Thunderbay via the north route. Please pray that the weather is a non event.
Have a great day folks I have to run.
Well, at least the north route won't have the hills that the Hwy. 17 one does so that's a plus.
It's a lovely day here today. It's chilly but the sun is shining.
I see my thermometer thingy in my signature isn't working.
Mine isn't either Pat, This has been a couple of days of it not working.
Scott: Welcome to a great site. I appreciate all of your comments. You sound like a "down to earth" kinda guy.
I think we all have our favorite preachers to listen to. I am on the road a lot and listen to quite a few radio preachers. My day is so blessed as I listen to these great speakers. God often speaks to my heart through their preaching or testamonies.
Focus on the Family had "Son of Sam," David Burkowicz on for 3 days. David became a christian after being in prison for 10 yrs. He is serving 6 life sentences for the murders he committed.
But as we all can testify, God can greatly change a person. That is what He has done to David. He has now been in prison for over 32 years and God has given him a ministry in prison. He really loves the Lord
Next week Thursday Donna & I travel to South Bend, Indiana for a free conference on Bible prophecy, with Dr David Jeremish at Notre Dame.
Spring has come to the island. We had three days that were lovely and I finally got my walking in again.

Here is a site that might interest some of you. An Eagle in her nest and we get to watch the progress. Kind of boring like my life....except for the odd breeze that adds a little zest!

I went and voted. Hard to make a choice. All are lovely.
I love the picture you did for Scott, Etta Sue. Think I will do a sketch and paint it. Love painting mist for some reason. When Amanda was small, she asked 'Gramie, why did you put dust on your picture?' Hah!
I am making dinner tonight and must go make an Angel Food Cake.
(Whipped cream and strawberries) Pasta and meat sauce, salad, veg. Yummm!
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
So where is that picture that Etta sue did for Scott.
Liz, that is one of the lovliest pictures (the tulips) that I've seen in a long time! Thank you!! That's picture taking at its best!
I think that they are crocus blooms, Al! :)
I, of all people, would never know such things! Only they are beautiful indeed!

I have no idea where I got that picture for my Welcome to Scott. It is one of the first Welcome things I did. Could have come from a lesson on PSP or just found it on the internet. Just know it isn't from central Indiana...and I like it, too!
Kitty called this morning after I sent an email saying if she wanted to go out and about today to let me know. So we went to Carmel to Michael's so she could watch a demonstration of silk screening. I bought some suction cups and some Gardenia scented candles. She wasn't impressed with the silk screen demo. Then we went to Don Pablos for a late lunch...well, late lunch for me...a second lunch for Kitty! Then I brought her by my house so she could see my floor and I took her home.
I found a car compass that I saw in this house while Mom was in the hospital but never saw it when we were cleaning the house and all after her death. I found it the other night when a neighbor came to borrow Dad's old Bell and Howell 8mm Movie projector. The compass was in a box of reels. But it had a sticker thing to adhere it to the dash/window and I didn't want to use that. So I found a suction cup to hang a wreath on and used a screw to screw the compass bracket in the suction cup! It worked! Then I put it in the car and had to adjust it. Now I have a compass in my car! Well, I had one on the GPS but I don't always have it on!
Now it is almost dark...where did the day go??/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

LOL Pat I took a second look as well!
I am glad the weather has improved.
I am just checking emails then on to bed. I am tired tonight but my mind is racing so sleep won't come easy.
Pat give my love to Paul
Everyone have a good day tomorrow and may God richly bless you.
As we consider going to church tomorrow to worship our Father, let's sing this hymn together and remember the words carefully:

Musician: William H. Doane, 1832-1915
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Refrain
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
Refrain
O the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!
Refrain
There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.

Good morning. I am all ready for church. After Sunday School today, I am calling Kitty to tell her I am on the way and then we are headed to Kokomo Art Association for the Award Ceremony for the Photo Contest. Since I got a first on my Computer Generated photo, I will be getting a monetary prize. I am thinking $20 but if I get more I will be really surprised. But the entry fees were more this year soooo.
Not sure what all we will be doing later. Kitty was pretty tired last evening after our excursion yesterday. She says she still feels that anesthetic in her!
It is raining and cold this morning. It was predicting snow but I don't think that will happen. Just hope all the spring blooms are touched by the cold. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

We are off to Mariah's birthday party. She is such a sweetie and Melaura is such a good mommy. I am not sure how this is going to go as we have to have the girls at cadets from 4-6 and the party is 3-6. I am taking the camera and perhaps be able to post some pictures.
I will be back later
God bless
We'll be looking forward to seeing the photos, Judy.
Give Melaura my love.
Bright and sunny here on the island today. Ah.....the joy of Spring. :)
Al, thanks for the kind words about my picture of.....what were they called again? ;) My knowledge of flowers is also very limited. Do they have a book for Gardening Dummies?
Proud to say my (from scratch) Angel Food Cake turned out well. I got the recipe from YouTube. How I love YouTube. Watch the most wonderful Classical Music Videos........also some not so classic country ones. Of course Gospel, etc. I spent most of my life doing computer accounting and never thought the day would come when I would simply enjoy spending time on one.
Time to get busy. Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Sounds good, Liz.
Did you save a piece for me?
Well, as I asked when I opened this topic last Sunday that we all post a lot and make this a great week in "Thoughts for the Week", you all did!
This will be the 104th post this week.
But we can all do better.
So, let's try harder next week after our new "Thoughts for the Week" is opened!

As the Deer Panteth for the Water (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/asthedeer.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Written by Martin Nystrom
Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."
As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.
I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.
You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Al: Prayers for your leg situation.
Here is some disturbing news.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2009-03-29-morocco-missionaries_N.htm?csp=34
We are going to the airport in an hour or so - Laura is leaving today. She had 20 in. of snow in the last storm in Colorado and was just barely able to make it to the airport from her house. Denver had about ten inches. We have taken walks/hikes every day here and had the best of any visit - going to miss her but we will be back to watch her children in April as she & hubby fly to New York so that is something terrific to look forward to when we return.
Thanks for that link, Carol.
We must pray for these missionaries.
For some reason my antivirus program wouldn't let me stay at the page Carol linked to. I clicked on it twice, trying to read, and the virus message came up both times. I guess it's over diligent?
We are having beautiful weather today. I'm sitting here by the window, feeling the sunshine, head phones on as I type, and listening to Fairest Lord Jesus, played on piano by Chris Rice. So beautiful. And I'm listening to Pandora of course. I have my Faith Sounds station pretty much as I like it now. :)
Pat, I'm sorry about Judy losing the use of her legs. Bless her heart. I pray the surgery will be successful for what must be done, and that the Lord will give them both, she and Norm, His own peace and comfort.
I voted and it was hard. I think I mentioned it a few pages back, but wasn't sure.
OH..........another beautiful song just came on. Just As I Am played by Tom Kimmel, a guitar solo. Aren't we just so blessed to have the gift of music used by these artists for the glory of God? Music touches us in the deepest places. The devil tried to steal it, counterfeit it, but God kept secure that which He had given......the gift of music. You can sure tell the difference, can't you? One grates me, the other makes me fall more in love with the Master, Jesus. :)
I guess we all march to a different beat, Nita. Frankly, a lot of the Christian music and artists grate on my nerves. Since I have been a strong (saved) believer for almost 40 yrs., it is my belief that we can love God in different ways. There is so much beauty still to be found in the world, for those with an open mind and heart.
:)
Hi everyone. We arrived home safely from Florida about 5:30. I drove all the way and we left at 7:30 this morning. It is hard to believe the traffic that I-75 has as it was pretty well packed throughout the 500 mile trip. Needless to say I am tired and will be retiring early tonight. We had a very nice visit but glad to be home.
We're glad to see you safe and sound at home again, Larry. How many miles is that trip one way? Sounds as if it's like from Winchester, VA to Guelph. That is about 410 miles one way.
Time to close the door on this week's "Thoughts for the Week" and open a new one for March 22!
