The Lord is My Shepherd
The Lord is my Shepherd --
That's RELATIONSHIP!
I shall not want -- That's SUPPLY!
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures --
That's REST!
He leadeth me beside still waters --
That's REFRESHMENT!
He restoreth my soul -- That's HEALING!
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness --
That's GUIDANCE!
For His name sake -- That's PURPOSE!
Yea, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil --
That's PROTECTION!
For thou art with me -- That's FAITHFULNESS!
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me --
That's COMFORT!
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies --
That's HOPE!
Thou anointest my head with oil --
That's CONSECRATION!
My cup runneth over -- That's ABUNDANCE!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life --
That's BLESSING!
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord --
That's SECURITY!
Forever -- That's ETERNITY!

Morning Devotional...The Secret Strength of Faith
So Delilah said to Samson, "Please tell me where your great strength lies, and how you might be bound, that one could subdue you.Judges 16:6
Where does the secret strength of faith lie? It lies in the food it feeds on; for faith studies what the promise is-an emanation of divine grace, an overflowing of the great heart of God. And faith says, "My God could not have given this promise except from love and grace; therefore it is quite certain His Word will be fulfilled." Then faith thinks, "Who gave this promise?" It considers not so much its greatness as, "Who is the author of it?" She remembers that it is God, who cannot lie-God omnipotent, God immutable-and therefore concludes that the promise must be fulfilled; and onward she proceeds in this firm conviction. She remembers why the promise was given-namely, for God's glory-and she feels perfectly sure that God's glory is safe, that He will never stain His own insignia, nor spoil the sparkle of His own crown; and therefore the promise must and will stand.
Then faith also considers the amazing work of Christ as being a clear proof of the Father's intention to fulfill His word. "He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?"1 Moreover, faith looks back upon the past, for her battles have strengthened her, and her victories have given her courage. She remembers that God has never failed her, that He never once failed any of His children. She recalls times of great peril when deliverance came, hours of awful need when as her day her strength was found, and she cries, "No, I never will be led to think that He can change and leave His servant now. Thus far the Lord has helped me, and He will help me still."
Thus faith views each promise in its connection with the promise-giver and, because she does so, can with assurance say, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life!"21Romans 8:32 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+8%3A32&version=ESVUK)
2Psalm 23:6 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+23%3A6&version=ESVUK)
:) Good evening to all on C.P. Well there has been lot's going on in our life since I was last here. :thumbsup
Noreen has still had a lot of swelling and a lot of pain but again the Lord is so good and we did go for her pre op. for surgery and that was a very long day as they are so thorough about all the questions and all the other things that they do before surgery. Surgery is on Thursday the 13th. and she will be so tired that day when it is over as we have to go to one hospital to get what they call a pic line put in at 8 15 a.m. then we go to where she has the main surgery which is in downtown Toronto. It is part of the large hospital called Sunny Brook which is hooked up with the University of Toronto.
The site that Noreen will be at is called Holland Orthopaedic & Arthritic Centre and they only have 65 bed's and the Doctor that she has usually can take 6 months to get into and prayer works wonder's and we got in in 1 and a half weeks and surgery in 1 and half months so god is so good. We are not sure of the actual time of surgery but more than likely in the early afternoon so do value your prayer's again that the Lord will be with the Surgeon Dr. John Cameron.
To all on C.P. I also need prayer as this has been a long battle and I need his strength which he has given to me all along the way. Thank you. and I will try to keep you all posted on how thing's go.
God's Richest Blessing's Gordon and Noreen. :cp: :rocker: :bananadance:
We had snow again over the weekend. It is now -2C and that can mean more snow. It also "feels" colder than when it is -20C because of the dampness. Cimi woke me up this morning, needing out. That is so unusual for her. Downstairs the boys had their needs as well. My fur family have their needs met and now I can relax here.
Pastor John is working through Hebrews 13. Yesterday he was speaking on "False Teachers". HE is hitting the hard topics. So many pastors skirt the issues and tickle the ears.
John is pricing a job in Moose Factory. It will be nip and tuck if he is able to do the course before the ice breakup. This is going to prove interesting. If the ice is breaking up they will take him to the island by helicopter. I do so wish I could go with him, it has been over 20 years since we were there.
John is working on wood today, that will extend our oil and because it is poplar the house is warmer. I am going for now, God bless each of you and have a good day.
Hi everyone on beatiful day here in Georgia. It is going to be in the low 70's today and the sun is shining. The housekeepers just left and the house is nice and clean and everything straightened up again, which is nice. I will go to my Monday luncheon in a couple of hours and then a quick stop at Walmart for some items. Pat just left for her massage appointment.
Janet, I hope Abby's dance group did well in Oklahoma City yesterday.
Carol, it is nice to have visitors that don't want to stay with you. It gives you some time to breathe. Bad news on the old crown.
Marilyn, I had heard that the movie took some license with not adhering to the Scripture exactly.
Ruth Ann, hope you were able to catch up on your sleep last night. It was a long evening.
Pat, thanks for the new devotional thoughts for this week.
Gord, I expect the next few days can't go by too fast for you all with the prospect of relief from pain in Noreen's knee when she has had a chance to recover from surgery. Gord, keep in mind that God will not give you more than he gives you strength to handle.
Judy, wet cold is so chilling and seems to go right to our bones. Glad your house is warmer with the poplar wood burning.
Judy shared this with me on Facebook and it's absolutely beautiful!
:) Hi Pat. Thanks to the link to the Celtic singers the are very good and then it so good what you can get if you continue on the U. Tube there is so many more groups to listen to. Hope all is well with you and Paul. God's richest blessing's to you big Sis. All our love to you. Gordon and Noreen. :cp: :rocker:
Thanks for sharing that here, Pat. Beautiful! I do so love to hear men's voices in harmony.
The day is well on, and all I have done is go to the gym, home for a while, to the chiropractor and the nurse at Sr. Center for nail care (toenails.) How time does fly. Goodness.
My chiropractor told me not to do the mini trampoline for a couple weeks, as he thinks that may be the reason I am having severe back pain. He said anything that is good for bone density is also detrimental to joint integrity. I need some relief, as I haven't been able to do much at all. Kristi told me to ask him and let her know what he said, and I will.
Larry, Abby's dance group didn't do very well at the contest. Diane said Abby wasn't really that disappointed, as it wasn't all on her shoulders. (She nad no solo dances) Diane said they have been doing some pretty "weird" dances lately. I sure need to go spend some time with them, I am missing them so. And it's ridiculous, we are only 28 miles away!
Gord, I pray Noreen's surgery goes well and she has a supernaturally fast recovery; also that you have added strength to get through this time in your lives.
I did go through my closet yesterday afternoon and this morning after gym time, we took all that I weeded out and left it in the garage sale building at the Senior Center. And as soon as my back is up to it, I will get back into my studio and do more "ridding." But not today! I am learning that I don't HAVE to do as much as I have always pushed myself to do!
Judy, wish you could go with John, that would be nice for you both.
I don't want to stay on here very long today, as I am trying to give my back a rest.
Hi, friends,
Pat thank you for sharing both of the inspiring devotionals for us this week. Both have application to my life, and I'm grateful for them.
Since I don't have much to report, I thought I'd share something that came in the mail. I hadn't seen it before, so hope it won't bore y'all if you already have read this:
Why Go To Church?
A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."
This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:
"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this. They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"
When you are DOWN to nothing..... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible!
Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!
"When Satan is knocking at your door, simply say,"Jesus, could you get that for me?"
:) Ruth Ann Bice. Great story and have heard this a long time ago but the last line is a very good one. Thank you and God's richest blessing's. Gordon. :coffee: :cp: :rocker:
Hi everyone on a beautiful day here in Georgia with the temperature expected to reach 76 degrees this afternoon. Pat already has the house opened to let in some fresh air. I have a light schedule planned for today. I need to make a quick stop at the bank to cash some checks and then will attend my Tuesday morning meeting. That will likely be it for today. I am enjoying a book a good friend gave me a few days ago. It is called "The One Year Book of Hymns" and is 365 Devotional Readings Based on Great Hymns of the Faith. It gives the words of the hymn on the left hand page and the devotional on the right. There are many hymns I have never heard before but with the Internet can look them up.
Pat, I have the recording of the Celtic Thunder singing "Amazing Grace" and it is beautiful.
Good Morning Gord.
Janet, our current choir director is having our choir sing more without accompaniment and I really enjoy hearing the blending of the voices. Sorry that you may be having trouble with the mini trampoline and hope your back pain soon lessens. Glad Abby wasn't too upset with the dance contest results. Glad you are learning to slow down a bit. It will still be there tomorrow if it needs doing.
Ruth Ann, thanks for sharing that piece. I think I have seen it before but it is a good reminder of why it is so important to keep up a spiritual life.
Hi, friends,
After a restless night, I went to our devotions time downstairs this morning. A group of cadets from an Atlanta Salvation Army training college gave a wonderful presentation. It was so nice to hear how well their voices blended in song, and then, of course, the Lord used one of the cadets to present His message to us for the morning. What a friendly group!
When I returned to my floor, the apartment door was blocked with some heavy packages that were sent to me for safekeeping for one of my sons. So, it was time to be using my long-unused muscles for picking up and stowing in the car and then transferring to storage. You would have giggled to hear me puffing and blowing! ;D
Next, a lunch with friends, and now it's about time for a bit of work in the apartment before taking a well-earned rest!
Much love to all of y'all,
Ruth Ann
Larry, that's lovely. Maybe I should get it. I loved hearing them sing Amazing Grace!
Ruth Ann, what a load to take to the car!
Ruth Ann, I don't think I'd giggle about seeing you so short of breath! And I'm sure those long unused muscles are screaming at you today.
Good afternoon this yet another stormy winter day. We were going to go out but have decided best to stay home.
Larry: The Acapulco singing I truly enjoy less distraction.
Judy: John will enjoy his trip to Moose Factory if he is able to get the arrangements complete.
Ruth Ann: How are your muscles feeling now?
Gord: Please be sure to let us know how Noreen makes out . From hospital to hospital seems like a lot of running around and especially if she is in constant pain.
To everyone that I have missed a very warm hello. :) :) :) :) :) :)
Hi everyone. Not much to write about today. I did go to coffee at McDonald's and then to Bible Study and later to Dunkin' Donut. However, my heart was letting me know it was still their and as soon as I got home I laid down for a couple of hours as was feeling very tired. Glad to say after I slept for a little bit the chest pressure stopped and I feel much better this late afternoon. We have a freeze warning for tonight until 9 am tomorrow. Sure hope it doesn't get our Bradford Pear tree and the other flowering plants but certainly not in my control as to whether that happens or not.
Ruth, I spoke with Pat earlier this afternoon and she said they were having a real blizzard up her way. It is wise to stay in on bad days if you don't have to get out.
Ruth Ann, too bad your couldn't get someone to help you with the boxes to get them to your car.
We're having some real winter weather here, too. First about 8 inches or so of snow then changed to freezing rain. Supposed to change to all snow again overnight and into early morning for a total of maybe 15 inches. I'm sure glad I got my groceries and other errands taken care of yesterday while the temperature was 50F!
A warm hello to you, too, Ruth!
Boy, after all the reports of bad weather, I am almost embarrassed to tell you it is lovely here. But just wait! It will surely change. Darrel told me today that this winter has killed all of our fruit trees except for two sour cherries. :'( This part of the country is very hard on trees.
Larry, I am glad you are feeling better. I am, too. My back hasn't hurt at all today, for which I am most thankful and happy!
And I am one happy gal today! :) :D 8) We went to Garden to get me some new pants, as mine are really faded and frayed on the bottoms. And.....Drum Roll!......I tried on size 12 (have been wearing a 14) they were way too big, so tried a 10--still too big, and Darrel said, "Maybe you should try an 8." I said I didn't think there was any way I can wear an 8, as I never have. But....I did, and they fit perfectly!! Woo-Hoo! :cheer: (Happy dance!) I haven't lost a lot of weight, but muscle is heavier than fat and takes up less space, and that's fine with me! The clerk who was helping me told me to "accidentally" leave the size tags on them. Sorry, TMI, but I am really excited! That should keep me exercising and eating right, if anything can!
And I have some other exciting news, too. My sister Shirley is coming Saturday to spend a few days with me. I know we will have a wonderful time together! God is SO good!
I want to watch the news. Just hope it doesn't spoil my wonderful mood!
Hi Ruth!!!
Well, this has been a terrible day of snow! I went to see if I could get out the door but there's about 1 1/2 feet of snow against the door! I shovelled a bit (about 3 shovels full) and it's just too sore for my shoulder. I need to get to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription and then a couple of things across the road at the market but can't get near my car!
Pat, I know just what that situation is. Been there! Done that! I have learned to keep opening the storm door and pushing away the top of the snow on the porch so I can open it in case of a dire emergency. But unless it's a "life or death" situation, I'm staying right here where it's warm and dry. Either someone will have to come shovel/snowblow me out or it will have to melt.
Well, this was my side door into the garage which is a shorter distance to my car and I don't have a storm door on it! :( When I opened it, a pile of snow ended up in the garage!
Oh well, maybe Andrew will be able to come and help later. Not sure though.
That does make for more of a problem. I hope Andrew can help. Can he pick up the prescription for you?
Andrew came!
This is the path up to my door before he came:

Looks like a good entry for the Look Down challenge. :D I hope he cleared it away for you.
It is incredible. we are north of Huntsville and not a speck of snow today, Lots of cold but no snow! John is in North Carolina, (no where near Don) and headed down before the storm started and will be back after it is over! Wow God was in that!!!
I received a distressed call from Sharon my dear friend. Her brother in law and nephew are in Mexico, the nephew was playing water volley ball, and somehow he wound up underwater. I don't know if it was chlorinated pool water or ocean water. He is in hospital in an induced coma. His eyes were reactive and he was pulling on the breathing apparatus, thus the induced coma. This family are not Christians, ans they have asked Sharon to get her prayer teams going praying for the nephew. It is interesting how people are willing to turn to God with a disaster like this. Please pray for this family. That they may KNOW God answers prayer!
Hi, friends,
You all are correct - I know where every one of those muscles is today! It doesn't sound like much but one package was about 4 feet long and weighed over 30 lbs. Then one of the other boxes was nearly as heavy. Lifting those things 3 times in one day was probably more than my muscles should allow. :)
Today, I managed to take myself to PT (thank goodness that's the lower muscles, not those for the arm and chest) and, although I had a slow start, ended up doing all the exercises and rode for 815 steps on the NuStep. Here's a photo of the machine.
http://www.amazon.com/Nustep-TRS-4000-Recumbent-Trainer/dp/B001EWHWZE
Then, a brief stop for groceries, followed by 2 calls from my wonderful older sons.
It was wonderful to have a call from a friend this evening detailing some definite answers to prayer and a witness from this friend that other doors seem to be opening.
Much love to all,
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. The sun is peeping over the horizon as I write and I think we escaped a freeze last night as a little after 7 am it was 34 degrees. We did have some strong winds throughout most of the night. I plan on attending my Retiree's Luncheon a 11:30 this morning. I will have to leave an hour early to get there on time. Pat and a friend are going to a quilting event and I hope she can stand up to it. However, I am delighted to see her get out of the house and doing some things again. In my devotional reading this morning I came across this and wanted to share it: It is from the March 13, 2014 "Our Daily Bread", which I have emailed to me each morning.
God is our spiritual power source in every storm of life. —David McCasland
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home! —Watts
It takes the storm to prove the real shelter.
Jeanne, it sure sounds like you will be housebound for a few days. That is a lot of snow. Glad you were able to get out and restock the cupboard.
Janet, so sad to lose your fruit trees. Glad you were feeling better yesterday. Quite an accomplishment on the downsizing of the clothes you need. You have done a good job. Now you will have to get a whole new wardrobe. :) You can do a Minnie Pearl and leave the tags on as she always did with her hat. Sure miss that gal! Nice you sister will be able to be with you for a few days.
Pat, I was glad to see that your SIL have come and shoveled for you as you surely do not need to be handling a shovel.
Judy, glad you missed the snow and I guess Pat got your share this time with Jeanne helping out as well. So sorry to hear of your friends BIL and the coma. I have prayed for this family.
Ruth Ann, I do hope you don't try to carry such packages in the future. Surely someone at your church or where you live would help you if you ask.
Good morning, friends,
Thanks for your kind comments.
Y'all seem to be so good about addressing each person. I'll try to do better in the future.
Larry, those packages were blocking the main hallway, keeping occupants of 2 other apartments from getting in and out. That's why it was so urgent that I move it. Lunch hour for the apartment maintenance men is from 11 till 12, and it was past 11 at the time. It's so kind of you to make those good suggestions. :)
Y'all have a good rest of the day.
Love to all,
Ruth Ann

I spoke to Sharon just now and found out that the nephew is epileptic. They are assuming he had a seizure in the water. Dad had gone away from where they were playing, and didn't see what happened. We hope to know more tonight. Mom has gone to Mexico to be with the father and son, she will let family know when there is more news.
Please keep this family in prayer, that God will use this accident to bring them to the cross.
Thanks for that update, Judy.
Yes, Judy, I'll definitely be praying for him and his family - both spiritual and physical needs.
Also, my daughter in law had surgery on Tuesday and is being taken back to hospital tonight for some complications. Would appreciate prayers for her as well.
Love to all,
Ruth Ann
Me too, Judy. How sad. Keep us posted.
Praying Ruth Ann Thank you for the prayers Sharon appreciates it.
Hi everyone. We awoke to 28 degrees this morning so will probably soon our Bradford Pear tree shed its blossoms. However, going to get to 64 this afternoon and be warmer the next few days. I have a quiet day planned so will be doing desk work and resting today. I need to get started on my taxes but still waiting for the last 1099 that is always late. Pat did enjoy her quilting expo yesterday and held up to it much better than I thought she might. They had a lot of places where people could sit when they got tired as well as at demo's. She came home with some new quilting tools.
Ruth Ann, I guess the other occupants wouldn't have liked being blocked from their apartments because of your packages. I sure hope that was a one time event. Sorry to read of the complications for your DIL. It is bad enough to be in the hospital once but twice in one week is pushing the envelope, so to speak.
Judy, I saw your request for prayer for your friend's nephew. What an unusual event. Certainly hope he can recover without damage to his brain.
Really a busy morning for me today, so am just now getting here to read the posts. Our health fair is tomorrow, where our Pioneer Communications and Pioneer Electric companies pay for all the blood tests, give nice prizes at their annual meetings, and serve us all a nice free lunch. I went out this morning to help Kristi, our fitness trainer and a few other ladies prepare yogurt-strawberry cups. We were to make 900 of those! :P They were to freeze overnight, and then you stir and eat with a spoon. Pretty good (if you like yogurt, which I know Larry doesn't like.) I had to stop and come home, as Lexi and Chelsea, our great-grand-daughters were here for a while. Their mom and baby sister Jenna had chiropractor appointments.
Sad about the boy's accident in the water, praying about that.
Missing Pat in here!
Early supper, fasting after midnight for the blood work tomorrow.
900 that is a lot Janet! I would love one though, as would Pat!
John is in Guelph, going to bed, so he can have an early start tomorrow. I am going on the final leg of his week with him, and am looking forward to it as well. Then off to groceries and other odds and ends.
I have had no updates on the nephew, nor has Sharon, it could be "no news is good news" or things have gone bad, or he is holding his own. I am waiting to hear as is family.
Have a great night everyone
Gord: What is the latest news on Noreen? You mentioned her surgery was on Thursday?
Well, I am flabbergasted, but Don decided two days ago to look into moving our winter time to Tucson. Wonders never cease. My best friend is there as well as two cousins (cousins are in the area) and there are a lot more activities. We will see if this can really happen. Meanwhile - cleaning- working, etc. How many times have we said we would never move again? tomorrow is lunch with 3 cousins & spouses - I made a reservation because of it being a Saturday.
I liked the message about "why go to church". Our children were always told that we go to give thanks.
Uffda on all the wintery weather for so many here. It has to be one for the records.
Prayers for those in need - Ruth Ann's relative and Judy B's friend's relative.
Larry: Rest well - you two have been through the wringer for quite some time.
Hi everyone. It is another nice day here in Georgia. We did have a little rain during the night. I had coffee at McDonald's and then stopped at Kroger's for a few items. I had to call the GreatCall company again this morning as my DIL never received the emergency device. They found it been addressed to Stacey's apartment and couldn't be delivered. However, when it had been reset it reactivated my account and we were charged the activation fee plus the remaining days of the month for the fee. They now are going to send out a new device to my DIL and credit us with the days we didn't have the device. The activation fee has been paid. I hope this takes care of it. They said it could take 5 to 7 days to be received. I am going to take it easy the rest of today and just do work here in my office.
Janet, preparing 900 of anything is sure a task. You can have my cup of yogurt. :) Hope you win another prize at the health fair today. I bet you had a better time with your great granddaughters than filling those yogurt cups.
Judy, nice you will be able to go with John on the final leg of his trip. Is this an overnight trip or just out and back in the same day?
Carol, when I was visiting my folks years ago and we went to Mexico so dad could get medicine we went through Tuscon. I remember it was a very pretty place.
My mom just called me with an update of her friend's nephew, and asked me to post it here.
Thomas (the young man in Mexico) is flying home to Toronto today and will be taken directly to Sick Kids Hospital by ambulance from the airport. There is a neologist at Sunnybrook Hospital that is on the case and as soon as a bed opens up at Sunnybrook, Thomas will be transferred there. He is currently still in critical condition. He is semi-concious after being taken off the meds to have the ventilator removed. It is assumed that they will increase the meds again for the flight back to Canada.
Thank you for your continued prayer.
The health fair was nice, but I didn't win anything. :-\ ;) The phone company's gift for each of us was a nice hanging cosmetics bag, and inside it was a 100 minute phone card, a nice LED flashlight and a pen. The Electric company gave us each a nice set of two bamboo cutting boards. So, even if my number wasn't drawn, I did get some nice things, besides well over $260 worth of blood tests. Plus they served us a lovely lunch!
Larry, the yogurt cups were good! ::)
My sister is here, and I want to visit with her, so ....see you later!
Hi Folks. Well home again for another weekend. Had a good trip south this week and missed all the snowy weather that went through southern Ontario and northern USA. No doubt in my mind that God was in this one. This is the first trip this winter that I didn't have to deal with winter weather. What a relief that was. Think God knew I had enough. It was great to see the trees starting to bloom in North Carolina and the daffodils were up in full force along the roadside. And I had my first bugs on the windshield this trip for the start of that season. A pastor friend of mine says that only a driver would appreciate bugs on the windshield, LOL. To me that says that spring is on its way. Hope all is well with everyone. Going to run for now Blessings everyone.
Hi everyone on a rainy, but not cold, Georgia day. We are to have rain through Tuesday on and off. We are going to church this morning and expect we will go out to eat lunch with our friends. The rest of the day I will rest and watch some of the college basketball playoffs.
Heather, sure hope the young man tolerated the flight back to Toronto yesterday and will soon be admitted to the Sunnybrook hospital.
Janet, sounds like you did OK even without winning a major prize. It sounds like everyone came out a winner and the blood tests certainly made it worthwhile attending. Glad your sister was able to come and visit with you.
John, it must have been a relief not to have to fight the snowy weather. Spring can't be far away when we begin to see the daffodils and other early spring flowers blooming. Our Bradford pear tree is in full bloom and is beautiful this year. We are to have rain until Wednesday but it is not suppose to be cold. Glad you are home safely for the weekend.
Hello friends:
We were blessed with a few more flakes of snow last evening but also we can see the snow banks getting smaller, again I have also heard that the coming summer is to be very hot--we must accept and enjoy whatever comes our way.
Have a wonderful day.
I thought I had posted early this morning, but see that is not the case!
We went to our church last night, then this morning Shirley and I went to Hugoton and attended at My Father's House. We had lunch and a nice visit with Diane, Jeff and Abby. When we got back to Ulysses, we visited We want to visit Beth. Both of us got up very early, me before 4 and she before 5, so we are winding down now. We are hoping to stay awake long enough to watch Huckabee before we fall asleep! ;)
Kansas, at least the SW corner of it, is very, very dry, so we would welcome moisture in any form--except ice! We don't want an ice storm!
Less than an hour before a realtor was showing up, we had a big water leak in the kitchen. So, we did hustle and I had a trusty sponge to pick up a sink load of water on the floor. Don is now installing a new piece of pipe. We went to a paint store and found a matching paint for two spots that need repainting. -- all of this after church today. The fountain downtown is showing brilliant green today and tomorrow and that is quite a show.
At church we signed on to help make food packages this Thursday. Everyone is pitching in.
Spotted a javelina outside the kitchen window today - they are not cute. They are usually in packs and kinds dangerous with the little ones.
Hi, friends,
I enjoyed reading all the posts today. My daughter in law is continuing with problems associated with how the staff put in her airway during her surgery. That resulting infection has now spread to her throat, ears, and sinuses. So, would appreciate the prayers continue for a while.
Janet, I agree with the other comments - 900 is a lot of anything to make. However, when chatter is going and people with busy hands helping, the time goes quickly and Grandma would say, "Many hands make light labor." :)
Larry, I'm so sorry that medical device caused you so much difficulty. It's easy to understand their confusion, and then yours when they charged the activation fee once, again, etc.
John, give Pat our good wishes while you're there in Guelph. :) And, you and Judy have a good safe week driving together. How nice it will be.
Ruth, those snow banks will soon melt, and then come the newness of life that spring brings.
Heather, thank you for posting about the young man. May our Lord grant the family traveling mercies, and, in His will, may He lovingly care for the patient. I ask that the Lord guide all the medical staff working with him, that good, solid decisions be made on his behalf.
Carol, what a change may be in the future for y'all! However, you may enjoy being nearer to those you love.
It was a good, though cold, drizzly, cloudy, blustery day here in Nashville. Friends and I went after church to a little spot serving a typical southern favorite: catfish, shrimp, chicken, white beans, cole slaw, hush puppies, and of course, quart jars of tea or soda pop. :) Good eatin'.
Y'all have a wonderful rest of the day.
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. Another dreary day with light showers and just chilly. Had a nice time at McDonald's this morning and will have my usual Monday men's luncheon and then a meeting this evening so it will be a full day. Pat had already left to run several errands and to have her massage when I got home from coffee so I have the house to myself. I enjoyed watching the basketball games yesterday afternoon.
Janet, sounds like you had a full day yesterday. It sure isn't dry around here. I had been worried about the short freeze we had the other night but the flowering plants seemed to have weather it. I notice our Bradford Pear is now showing some green leaves.
Carol, a water leak is always so frustrating. At least Don knew what to do to fix the problem. That sounds like a nice project for your church. Where are the food packages used?
Ruth Ann, it sure sounds like your DIL is in misery with such infections. I knew we had to pay the activation fee again but just didn't like them charging for a service we were not able to have access to yet. We used to have a place near where we lived called "Poor Folks" and they featured chicken and served the ice tea in quart jars. I think the remainder of that chain is just called Folks now but it has been a long time since we went to the Folks in our area.
Please ignore the motorcycle commercial at the beginning of this commercial. Also After the Navy League news piece, you can shut it down. I can't take out just the news clip that I want to show you, I don't have the program to do that!
Elijah Lord Here (http://northernontario.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=307924) is my grandson!
Good morning, friends,
Well, I finished input on a database I've been doing as volunteer work for my church. Now, comes the checking and cross checking. :) It's an interesting project, and has given me several hours of satisfying work to help the seniors' pastor.
Larry, we also had Poor Folks restaurants here, and our family enjoyed going to them. Now, there's a meat 'n three called Vittles that comes close to providing the same quality of foods, but not with the charm of Poor Folks. I noticed on line that some relatives had also gone to Uncle Bud's this weekend, which gave me a grin. Apparently it's becoming a great place to be seen. :)
Judy, how great to see your grandson! That was an interesting clip.
Y'all have a good rest of the day.
Ruth Ann
Judy, Elijah is a cutie! Looks like really good training and experience for the kids.
Shirley and I are having a wonderful time together. And Jeaniie came out this afternoon and we all worked on placemats for the Senior Center. We cut the shapes from posterboard, then put pretty pictures on them, or cute animals, or whatever--BOTH sides--- and when that's done, a lady takes them to the school and laminates them for us. This will take the place of the flimsy plastic tablecloths, which last only one to three days. I made supper and she stayed and ate with us.
Shirley has already gone to bed. She is a really early riser!
I hadn't been able to get online until now. Too many kids on it, since this is spring break week.
I asked Kristi this morning if she got rid of all the yogurt cups and she said no. She didn't have a good location for her booth.
My back is hurting, I have been going strong all day, so it's time to stop!
Janet: Stop when you are hurting. Good idea.
Judy: I could not access the site - sorry.
Ruth Ann: It sounds like an enjoyable time with friends and a delicious lunch. Yes to a healthy recovery for your DIL - prayers!
My cousin Dennis is having a large pre-cancer spot taken off his back - about time and he told me that his stress test was good.
I hate to say it but it is hard to keep up with friends and relatives on the medical issues at our age - really has changed in the past ten years. I had to take a 2nd shower today after tearing apart and cleaning a vacuum cleaner that works again. We are now in the clutches of real estate and missed a little nap today - doorbell rang. tomorrow they take pictures and someone is viewing so we need to get out. Easy, we are meeting Don's cousin & two others for a lunch. I'll be up early cleaning every spare minute  unless I get a 2nd. wind tonight. It is our own fault.
Hi everyone on a chilly, overcast morning here in Georgia. It is currently 36 degrees and suppose to have some occasional rain and stay cool today. I was able to sleep in a little later today as no coffee on Tuesdays. I will go to a meeting later this morning and then just rest and enjoy the remainder of the day. I need to get started on my taxes and may do that after I read the message boards.
Judy, I watched the news clip. Nice looking young folks.
Ruth Ann, I am sure Poor Folks was a chain that according to the Internet closed in 1988.
Janet, the placemats sound like a very useful project. The young school children across from our local Senior Center used to make placements out of colored paper and give to the seniors. They would usually come over and sing for us as well.
Carol, the real estate efforts are moving quickly. This is probably the ideal time to be selling as folks prepare for next year.
Hi, friends,
Well, I've been out and about already today. Actually, I played piano for the devotions meeting downstairs today. And, then, hope to see my trucker son as he breezes through the town today.
It's my oldest granddaughter's birthday. I hope to drive to see her sometime this week and maybe have lunch with her. All our grandchildren are special, aren't they. :)
Janet, it's so great that your sister has come to visit. And, it's fun participating in making those placemats.
Carol, what a job! Dealing with realtors and those coming to view your home.
Larry, it's such a blessing to meet with friends to share a meal and conversation. Helps keep us young, doesn't it.
My daughter in law is still needing prayers about her health. Thank you for praying.
Y'all who haven't posted but are reading the comments, we'd love to hear from you. It makes life much better when we converse with friends. :)
Love to all,
Ruth Ann
Good morning everyone, I didn't post last week so just wanted to let everyone know I am ok. Wife has been gone and everything is turned upside down right now.
It's cold here again and we had a chance of ice last night but dodged it. Hurry up spring.
I see there is no new thoughts yet and I normally follow Pat but my name was not on the list for March, I didn't question why but if I need to do the devotion for this week let me know Jeanne. I think maybe I was suppose to do this week but got missed on the list for March.
Well we now are headed to the grocery store because I have eaten about all we had since Ann was gone last week and I didn't go myself, Ann is our grocery shopper.
Have a great day everyone.
OH, NO! :-[ Don, I don't know why you weren't on the March list, I sure did goof this time. Don't tell Pat or Judy, please! They'll come after me with a whip - or wet noodles at least. :clobber: And since I didn't check and it was my name on the list, I should have done the devotional, so there was another goof. Oh, dear! :bonk:
We're a little late this week - my fault! But we can still have a new devotional - HERE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=12955.msg183691#msg183691)
