Morning Devotional...

Are You For or Are You Of?
Dr. David Jeremiah

Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as the grave; its flames are flames of fire, a most vehement flame.
Song of Solomon 8:6

New Christians may be puzzled when they read in the Ten Commandments that "the Lord your God, [is] a jealous God" (Exodus 20:5). "I thought jealousy was a bad thing. How can a good God have a bad trait like jealousy?" they wonder. It's a good question—with a good answer.

You can be jealous for or of. To be jealous for someone is a good thing. To be jealous of someone is a bad thing. And that determination is made by whose interests you have at heart.

If you are jealous for another person, that means you want the best for them. You want to protect them and love them, which explains why God is a jealous God: He is jealous for us because He loves us so much.

But if you are jealous of someone, you have your own self-interest at heart; you love yourself more than you love another person. And that's a bad thing. Instead of being jealous of another's success, for instance, you should be rejoicing with them (Romans 12:15).

If you are jealous, make sure you are jealous for, not jealous of. If you love the way God loves, your jealousy will be like His.

"The jealousy of God is nothing else but the vehemence and ardor of his paternal love."
John Calvin

Hi everyone.  It is chilly here again this morning but our area missed the storms that came through yesterday.  We had a little rain but probably not even enough to measure.

I have been to coffee and walking at the gym.  I am feeling much better today than yesterday, where I had shortness of breath all day long and didn't feel at all up to par.  Amazing what a night of sleep will do to recoup.

Today our men's luncheon group is trying a new Asian place that serves food from several different Asian nations.  They have a huge menu but features some luncheon specials.

Jane, have a safe trip.  It sounds like this is not a happy trip but sure you will enjoy the time with your family.

Marilyn, nice to see you anticipating your travel.

Jeanne, that is a very good devotional.  I have never understood that language and that makes it much clearer.

Judy, I like hot dogs once-in-a-while.  When we go to Sam's Club we often have their Nathan's hotdog and drink for $1.50.  Sometimes even have their berry sundae.

Janet, glad Darrell is feeling up to making the trip.  Sure he will enjoy the time with the grandson.

I am praying for Jane, Darrel and Marilyn for their traveling today and in the future.

SURPRISE!!!  Ivalou drove herself to church yesterday!  It is only 4 miles and all country roads but she did it!  She said she got in the car right after I left for the movie Saturday night.  She drove to the county line and decided she was doing good enough that she drove to Lapel to the gas station and filled her car up.  So she knew she was going to drive to church.  A lot of firsts for Ivalou the last few days.  Tomorrow it will be 6 months after her stroke.

Inky and I took a nice nap yesterday afternoon.  Then the evening was TV watching.  I got to bed a little after 11pm and couldn't get to sleep.  Do you think it was because of the 3 hours nap in the afternoon?  Sleep finally came after solving the problems of the world!!   ::)  You can thank me now!

And it didn't rain all day yesterday.  A week ago they, whoever 'they' are, said possible snow.  Then a few days ago, 'they' said rain.  But it was mostly sunny all day and very nice outside!

Today I got up and had my breakfast and put on a pot of chili.  Then got my trash together and went out in the rain to get Ivalou's trash and then to Kaye Don's drive.  Back home to read my devotions and do my exercises.  Now the computer.

I asked Ivalou to come over for chili for lunch.  She can drive here and then I can drive her car to take her to rehab at 1pm.  I just know she is pleased as a newborn pup to drive again.  She didn't have any doctor restrictions...she just didn't feel that she should be driving until she was sure of her right leg and right arm.

Again it is raining but the grass and birds are loving it!

I haven't heard anything about the health bill yet.  I do have FoxNews on...I feel if any of the stations tell it like it is, FoxNews will.

Etta Sue, what a wonderful surprise that Iva Lou was able to drive!  She has made such great progress in those six months.  Praise the Lord!

Well, according to NBC this morning, the health bill did pass.  :(

Our April/May sunshine and temperatures are gone and we're back to more March-like weather.  Rain for the next few days and only in the 40's during the day - and the 20's at night!  How quickly we get spoiled!   :D

Travel mercies for everyone.

We are taking some Colorado neighbors to a canyon this morning and there is a tram we can catch that takes everyone along the scenic route.  Our neighbor couple won't be able to walk as he has such difficulty and won't use a cane or walker so I hope and pray that he can go just a few steps.  They are leaving their poodle at the rental house and that is good because there are so few parks where we can take a dog.

Jeanne:  Thanks for devotions and the meaning of real jealousy for and not of.  It sounds like spring weather to me - that fickle springtime.

Will wait and see what happens with that Health INSURANCE bill that passed.

Yes, we lost the battle on health care--but the war is far from over!  I just watched Glenn Beck, and he was so encouraging about it.  He's great, I think.

I agree with you about Fox News, Etta Sue.  You sure can't get the truth from CNN!

I only got one hour of sleep early this morning before time to get up and go to work.   My tongue hurt all night, plus I was worried about the vote on health care.   :(  So I took a nap when I got home.  Darrel called a little bit ago to tell me he made it to Curtis' safely.

Jeanne, good devotional, I enjoy David Jeremiah and usually watch him every Sunday morning before time to go to church.

Our snow, cold and hard wind has passed and for now we are back to much milder weather.  I'm happy about that.

Larry, I sure agree about the restorative power of a good night's sleep!

Onward and upward!

Hello everyone:      It is a typical March day and yes it is raining, and soon we will be cutting grass.

Just letting you know that I am still here, I do notice changes and I would wonder when this site will be gone for good.

I will return tomorrow.     Ruth

I am not happy with the passing of the Health Care Bill last night, but it's no over until it's over.

The health bill has so many loopholes in it that it is just terrible.  I am speechless,  I am continuing to pray for all of you'uns

Janet...that is what is called a bad night!!!  You gotta stop that!  A help for me is to pray when I can't sleep.  I get a lot of praying for CP folks done at night time.  Your tongue and my shoulders.

Jane if you pop in Know you are prayed for.

Marilyn Praying....

Carol I would love to take that tram ride.......I would love to drive the tram.

Jeanne I have been thinking and praying for you easterners as I watched the weather report for the east coast.  Stay warm and dry.

Woohoo Etta Sue.  Give your sis a hug from us!

Larry, Al,  Praying!

I hope I didn't miss anyone

Hi, friends, I can't believe my computer has stayed on long enough for me to catch up on the conversations I've been missing!  But, I still do have a virus, so will be saving my pennies till it can be de-virused once again. Yuk. :clobber: Here's what the virus programmers need...

Y'all have a good rest of the day. I'll be praying about the various health issues and the trips.

Love to all, Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  I got up fairly early this morning as have several things I want to get done today and wanted an early start.  I decided the best place is to start with my morning readings, e-mail and discussion boards that I follow.  Then I am going to work on my taxes.

Yesterday I spent several hours getting all of the information on doctors, prescriptions, dentists and other medical related expense summarized.  I also developed the information covering mileage at twenty-four cents a mile for medical related travel.  I was frankly shocked at how much we had spent last year on these items.  I am sure I will be itemizing this year and it will be the first time in a long time to do that.

It is really chilly this morning but suppose to warm up later today into the 60s.

Etta Sue, great news on Ivalou being able to drive herself now.  She is lessening her dependence on you or others every day and that is real progress.

Ruth Ann, we have been missing you.  Glad it is a computer virus and not a virus that you have.  Have you tried running Advanced System Care or Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.  I believe McAfee has on online virus checked and perhaps has solutions to remove certain virus attacks.

Judy, sorry to read that you are not sleeping well.

Hi Ruth and Marilyn.  Janet, glad you heard from Darrell and sure hope your tongue feels much better today.

Carol, it is a shame when folks are to vain to use a cane or walker when needed.  My father was like that for quite awhile and when he got up he would stagger a bit until he could get going and I was afraid he would fall and break something.  Hope you had a nice day out yesterday.  It is nice of you all to take your neighbors for the day-trip.

It is raining in Arizona!  Lightly and so nice to clean the air.

:coffee: is almost ready and I have the news on but for my mental health I am not going to listen to the politics right now.

Judy:  Here it the site for Sabino Canyon.  http://www.sabinocanyon.com/   We had to cross about four low bridges and water was running over but the driver was very careful.  Lots of water runoff because snow is melting.  There was a warning of heavy mountain lion (I say cougar) activity but we did not see any.  We did spot people on horseback way up on a trail you would never get me to go on and especially on a horse.

Larry:  We were thrilled to see Frank come with a walker.  He cannot have surgery for his lower back and he has finally taken the doctor's advice to use the walker.  They loved the day trip and treated us to a mexican lunch.

I was really missing my church this morning.  The Wednesday bible study will stop for summer so that will be another thing absent for too many months.

Ruth Ann: I will pray for the end of your computer virus.  At first, it sounded like you had a virus but it is the 'puter.

Janet:  Praying for the healing of your tongue area.  So sorry of you sleep loss - try to get some rest and start saying NO to those asking you to work..   Just tell them that you have friends who make you say NO.   ;)

Six month today!  Ivalou has come a long, long way from not being able to wiggle a toe or finger or to even say 'Uh!'  She has hit every milestone before it was time.  She has been an inspiration to everyone who knows her or has spoken to her.  When I grow up, I want to be just like her!  Thank you, God, for all the blessings you give to Your family.

Yesterday I got an email from Pastor Steve.  The church has dial up.  He knows I have DSL so he asked me to go to various sites to view videos about Good Friday, Sunrise Service and Easter Sunday.  I called him to ask if sound had been installed on the computer that has Sunday Plus on it that we use for Sunday services to the speakers in the sanctuary.  All it takes is a wire from the sound board to the computer.  Last I heard is they got a wire but it was too short.  So Steve is going to find out that today.  If that has been done then it will be a quick thing to upload the mini-movies to the Sunday Plus program.  Otherwise I need to burn them on a DVD which can be played with no problem.

But I did find out that I have Ulead DVD Movie Factory for Toshiba.  Really very simple and I now have a DVD with 11 mini-movies on it.

Also Steve said he would find a time when I would be home so he can come see the mini-movies.

I can't imagine grown intelligent people voting FOR the Health Bill.  There has to be a hidden agenda somewhere.  I heard this morning that some States are going to take it to court because it is against the State constitutions.  I pray that everyone knows who voted for this and not re-elect them in the future!  Also I hear snickering from other countries.  They are thinking, how stupid!

Another bright and sunny day in Indiana.  I have the inside doors open...the furgirls love that...and just the solar heat working!  Yeah!

Nice sunny day here on the island.   :)

Like many, I do not have much to write about.  Unless you care to hear about my cat or the constant building going on in the area!

Could someone please tell me why many in the US are so against the Health Care Plan.  I follow the news closely and find all the hate a little hard to digest.

I am at an age where I can vividly recall when we did not have the current plan in Canada.  Remember when the kids were small and my husband was out of work due to a mini recession.  I was ill and couldn't work, and we were without any insurance.  Terrible days.  I also remember when my sister in the US came down with cancer.  Her husband had a very high paying job, still they had to sell their house and ended up in a trailer by the time she died.  All to pay the hospital bills.  So is it not best to get some coverage and work on improving the problems.  I just paid 267.00 for two small prescriptions that are used all the time....along with a number of others.  Could not afford all the medications without the presc. help that we get.  Our plan does leave much to be desired, but it certainly is better than nothing.  Private insurance will not cover me due to pre-existing conditions.  Since my IQ is not in the low level, even now, what am I missing in all this????  Is this not a first step to improving a bad situation for a great many people???

           :(

Liz, how good it is to see you posting again.  As to the health care debacle, I will leave the explanation of why we are so angry for someone perhaps less angry than I about the crooked deals and other things employed to ram it down our throats.

Now they are starting immediately on the immigration thing; to try to get amnesty for MILLIONS of people who broke our laws to even be here; all of whom will get health care coverage FREE while our taxes go through the roof.  Yes, we are angry.  >:(  If you want a really good, clear explanation, I suggest you watch Glenn Beck on Fox News.

But it is a lovely day here in my corner of Kansas, with sunshine and mild temperatures.  I cleaned house all morning, then this afternoon went to help with Ladies' Tea at the care home.  We decorated hats for Easter, and on Good Friday they will have a little parade and model them.  I think there will be prizes for the winners.  They all seemed to enjoy the activity.  Beth didn't come as 3:00 is the time John calls, she couldn't miss that!  She showed me two nice boxes of chocolates he sent her, with a sweet note.  Gotta love that John!  :)

I spoke to Darrel today, he and Curtis were on the road to Vegas.  There was an alarm problem, and he was able to tell me what to do about it, so I was relieved.

I work again tomorrow and Friday.  So will have to be up early!

Liz, the health care bill to which we object is nothing like the coverage you get in Canada, at least as I understand it.  For instance, unless amendments are made before then, in three years every citizen will be required by law to obtain private insurance coverage at exorbitant monthly premiums.  But there is no mandate that will pay those premiums for people who can't afford them.  The requirements that are being applied to insurance carriers will drive up their costs and either they will fold or premiums will be even higher than they are now.  There is a lot in this bill that could be helpful, but there is also a lot more that will be detrimental.  Doctor bills, hospital bills, prescriptions - these will not be paid by the government but by private insurance companies.

Jeanne and Janet I am also given to understand that this "wonderful" insurance will not cover pre-existing conditions....like cancer.  I am told by my US cousins that there are so many loop holes in coverage that it makes you sick.

And what about those of us who simply can't pay those higher premiums, etc.  We have to have it, but we can't pay it.  That's impossible.  I don't know what to do about these things, but I have to admit that revolution occasionally enters my mind.  And I'm a Christian.  I hate war, killing, etc.  But I do have to defend my family don't I?

Thanks for explaining things about the HC Plan Jeanne and everyone.  It is different than our system.  We do pay for things, but it is done thro' the gov.  Some of the private clinics are not doing well here and it seems are not paying the medical staff.  However, here in BC, private care is there for those who can pay the extra costs.   It is far from a perfect system, but I for one, am grateful.  My hope is that it will not go broke from people who do abuse the system.

My Dr. is from Rhodesia and told me that the medications I take are not even available for people in her country.  As well as the wholesome food we get.  We were talking about the high cost of medications......

Yes, I can understand your being angry, Janet.  It is nice that people here can still be kind, despite the anger.  I do read Glenn Beck  email every day.  We do not have Fox Cable channel in the pkg. from Shaw.  Things make more sense after Jeanne's explanation.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Al, I have the same concern about being forced to buy insurance when I don't have any way to pay for it.  I suppose I could stop spending about $100 a month for food and that would pay for part of it.   :o

Judy, the new law provides that insurance companies will now be forced to accept people with pre-existing conditions.  That's one of the things insurance companies are objecting to, and one of the things that will drive up costs and premiums.  There's also something about a "hi-risk pool" for people with catastrophic illness, but with premiums that go through the ceiling.  Our government is saying "You are must spend your money for this" but it's not doing anything to show where we're supposed to get that money.

I do know, and have to keep reminding myself, the God is in charge and that He has a Plan.  Are these signs of the end times?  Come, Lord Jesus, come!

Hi everyone.  Today is a glorious day here in Georgia.  It is suppose to warm up into the 70s.  We are going shortly to the Wednesday Bible study with the minister.  We are doing a study of Islam, which is very interesting.

This evening I will once again have choir practice and that is about all I will do today.  I did get my Federal and State income taxes filed yesterday.  It took me about 4 hours to do it and I don't have a complicated return.  I filed electronically and will mail in the checks for the additional amount due closer to the deadline.

That's another thought. Just how much medical insurance did Jesus demand for His healing ministry? What if Jesus was outside every hospital healing the sick, the medical profession would be out of buisness, and Obama would probably still be demanding people buy medical insurance for services they wouldn't need. That's why there were Prophets, they held the madness of rulers in check, they were mortally afraid of the words that the prophets brought to them about the Lord God's displeasure, and His judgements and it brought about a rein to how far they could burden the populace. Now the rulers of nations have little to fear, and can burden the poor to any measure they want.

When Jesus was speaking the words in Matthew chapter 23, He was also reminding them of King Rehoboam's words in 2 Chronicles 10: 8-16. Verse 10, says, "My little finger shall be thicker than my fathers waist! And now whereas my father put a heavy yoke upon you, I will add to your yoke."

We just got back from rehab and having lunch at Applebee's.  Ivalou drove home from Applebee's.  A little scary!  But then she always was a rapid go and rapid stop person.  Not me.  When she goes, all heads goes back.  When she stops, all heads go forward!  And she pulled out in front of someone!!  Not good!

As far as the health bill is concerned.  There are too many loopholes for too large a bill.  It isn't even completely written so who knows what will be written in.  And it is a bill that no one in government has to use.  They have their own health insurance paid by the taxpayers.  It seems that today you can get your health taken care of if you don't work or aren't a citizen.  But if you work and are laid off and drawing unemployment and seeking a job, you are left with nothing!  It will eventually let people know, it isn't benefiting to me to work.  Become lazy and you are taken care of by the government.  But really, I only know enough about it all to be dangerous!!

Okay, this isn't a political forum and, yes, I think I started it.  Let's give it all to God and he will handle it.  Pray constantly for our country.

Etta Sue, I LOVE those changing signs!  Lots of truth there!  And about the health care subject, I think it is good that we as Christians can discuss it and not be ugly to each other.  I for one, am very interested in other Christians' opinions of what is happening.  (That's my opinion, and I welcome yours, as Mike Huckabee always says!)

It is cold and rainy here today, been snowing off and on, but the snow melts on contact.  Sure doesn't feel like Spring though.

I worked this morning.  And am going to make a scrapbook page in a little while.  We do a special page once a week, fun.  I need to go pick out a couple of pictures to use, so I am "outa here!"

It is just lovely to read that John sends chocolate to Beth.   <3

Liz:  The news from this country must sound outrageous at times and believe me, that is sometimes true.
We do need a health care reform but not:
  1.  When we are in midst of a depression or recession
  2.  When we have borrowed and our debt is over a Trillion...
  3.  When at one point, over 72% of the people disagreed
  4.  When the majority party got their votes from promising special considerations to the members who were wavering in their votes
  5.  When there are not enough doctors to cover this huge influx - primary care doctors do not make as much money and those in med school opt for specialties (which are needed as well)
  6.  When over-the-top lawsuits are allowed & threatens so many in medicine
I can't even think of all the reasons but I do approve of the fact that those with preexisting conditions will be
able to buy insurance.  *
*The state of Colorado has an insurance plan for those who are unable to buy other insurance.  Our states have different rules and it was set that way in the beginning.

Al:  I am with you but Don and I are most concerned about our children and grands.  Meanwhile, keep giving us your sweet guidance and reminding us of what is most important in our lives - to live the faith.

Changing subject:  Don and I went for a long walk on a path that takes us over a wash (that is a gully to me) and it is fun to see all of the critter footprints guessing what is what.  Spooky.  We also walked around an area on 4th. street and there were lots of police present, paramedics too.  Police all over the roads and something must have been happening.  We went in the Goodwill and I found some pants and a shirt for Don.  IZOD - even new.  Nothing but the best but a great price with senior discount.     Every day we see military jets flying formations over the city and it is awesome.

Liz:   After reading about the medical care concerns I am glad that I worked and live in Canada.  I do and have had relatives that live or lived in USA but used a Canadian address and also returned to the doctors and drug stores here for their supplies, one of my issues if you choose to live in one country or another then use the system provided.  Good or Bad.   Sorry folk if this is offending.

We had rain yesterday and today we woke to frost and then sunny and warm for the rest of the day.
Our neighbour gave us approx. 25 small tomato plants to transplant into larger containers.  Later on when they grow up we will be looking to give a good number away.

Oh yes this was also our coffee morning with friends.

Hello to all that are here posting or reading.

Hi Carol!  Where are you now?  I have lost track of whether you are still travelling or are home again.

Hello Ruth, good to see you posting again.  How are you?

Another thing about HC....it is against our Constitution to force a United States citizen to buy ANYTHING.  And our national debt is already so high that our great-great-grandchildren will be paying on it their whole lives, through no fault of their own, and they won't be getting any benefit from it either.  Sad.

I am missing my hubby, even though enjoying doing some things I don't get done while he is here.  Turn about is fair play; it is usually I who am away from home for one reason or another.

I think I will go have a look at some of the photos!

:)  Hi to all.   Jeanne thank you for your devotional it was so good.  I have read through all of the posts but it is to late to answer all of them

I feel so bad for many of those of you who will have a hard time with this plan that has come to you in the U.S.A.  it seems that all politicians do the same thing so that they can get into power.  Then once they are in thing's change so much that is why I stay so far away from politics.

Al:   How is your health doing?  I hope that you and your wife are hanging in and I know that the Lord will give you strength.

Judy B;  Hi to you all up there in the North country hope that all is better with the kids and that you are well.

Etta Sue.  That is wonderful news about Ivalou and that she is driving again I know what it was like not to be able to drive and it was two years for me. But praise the Lord I have been able to continue for over five years with no more seizures Praise the Lord for this.

Larry. I am glad to here that you are feeling good and am able to do your walking it is wonderful how God gives us new strength God bless. ;D

Carol:  Sounds like you are having a good time with your friends and I hope that you also are healthy. :)

Well I must get to sleep as it is late and this nighthawk has to get up in six hours so to all others on C.P. may the Lord bless you this weekend coming and may he grant the desires of your heart.Gods richest blessing.  Gord. :cp:

Hi everyone.  No sun today for us and rain is on the way.  However, it is not as cold as it has been.

My schedule isn't very full today, which is nice.  A friend is coming over at 11 am as we have some work to do.  Then nothing else on the schedule for today other than to watch some basketball games this evening as the tournament resumes.

Good to see all the postings since yesterday.  Etta Sue, years ago who my dad was reaching 80 years old he would always hand me the keys when we went together.  He still drove but I was not comfortable riding when he drove.  I know that wasn't easy for him but he was wise enough to recognize the situation.

Hello all, dreary rainy day here supposed to be clearing up around Saturday. Nothing much is "NEW" here just the "same ole, same ole". I have written 3 tutorials for PSP and put them on a website.  I am just starting do this this and there are a few people who have  worked them and tested them for me.

I have exercise class this morning, I doubt I will get to walk the dogs today. I do have rain gear, though so I might get out there in the rain.

Happy continues to improve, I just wish he would stop sneezing so much in the night. I give him allergy pills before I go to bed and  somewhere around midnight he starts to sneeze.,he is also still chewing on his paws.

Kind of a busy day.  I got up late...still not used to the time change...I don't want to get up in the dark and it is dreary out today.  Raining now.

I am doing some laundry and cleaning up the desktop of emails and doing maintenance on it.

A classmate called and said her granddaughter sent me the classmates photo by email.  I didn't get it.  So I have sent an email to the granddaughter so she can reply with the photo.  Perhaps she had the wrong email address or missed a character in it.

I just took Ivalou's mail to her...in the rain.  It is a nice degree out but wet!

I seem to be rambling so I will stop and post this... :idiot:

The rain is back and the sun is taking a vacation.  Glad that I got in a nice long walk yest.  Spring is a time for rain and the garden is looking really good!
Misty is having a nice nap in her chair and I am catching up on recorded TV programs....So what's to complain....just saying... ;)

Goodness, my question did inspire some posting and maybe that is what is needed to help people understand today's problems.  Lately have found myself becoming a tad weary of all the anger in our world.  Yest. Glen Beck was quite insulting to Canada because Anne Coulter was cancelled at one of our universities and not allowed to speak. They were afraid of a riot.  She has since had a lot of free publicity.  He said that we are a Socialist country and not allowed free speech.  Was quite nasty about Canada.  I find him to be a rather sad example of what Christians are supposed to be....spreading anger, rather than respect, consideration and restraint.  But I support his right to expression of views.  He has made a lot of money in the process, as does Rush Limbaugh.

I have another question for you folks.  One of your leaders stated today that he feels civility is now being viewed as an an act of defiance. Where does that leave us Christians?  Many times I have been accused of being too nice, too kind.....It has been meant as an insult.  Something that this person will not respond to! Guess we are really living in the last days now.

Time to go back to my corner.  <3

God Bless,

Liz

Our ladies at church are having a fund raiser for a ladies' retreat; we are making burritos.  So today I helped clean/sort (whatever you call it) 40# of beans, and cut up several large pork roasts.  We have orders for 85 dozen burritos!  That is a lot of work.

I learned about something else that is in the HC bill.  Explain this, if you can:  they are to give free viagra to convicted sex offenders!   :uglystupid:

Liz, just continue to be nice and kind.  I appreciate your kind of people.  And yes, I sure agree we are living in the end times.  The signs are all around us.

I'm tired and have to be at work at 6 in the morning, so I'm going to bed.

Darrel called and said he and Curtis are heading for home tomorrow.  That means he will be here on Saturday.  :)

I have had a BIG day.  I friend had a problem so we all (girls and I) went over and helped her out.  We are going back again tomorrow.

It is cold here today.  House is freezing, and it will take time for it to warm up.  At least I have wood and we will warm up!

Janet:  Still in Tucson and we walk as much as possible.  It is still snowing at home.  18 inches of snow there the other day.  I suppose we will wear winter clothes at Easter - per usual.  My goodness, that is a huge amount of food.  Good luck to all in the fund raising.

Hi everyone.  The rain missed up yesterday and it was cloudy this morning but see the sun trying to peep out of the clouds just now as I write.  This is Friday so we had coffee at the senior center.  Three of us then went to the gym and walked.  I came home feeling pretty tired.

Nothing particular on my schedule today so will just take things easy.  Think I will play around with the Ubuntu Linux computer a bit.  I haven't had it on for a long time.

Janet, hope your dinner brings in a lot of money to support your ladies retreat.  I have a feeling there will be several women who won't want to see a burrito for awhile.

Marilyn, nice that you are sharing your knowledge of the PSP by writing tutorials.

I'm sorry for the brief message.  I have read everyone else's but don't feel so good today so trying to spend some time in bed.  I hope to be able to get to Bible study tonight.

Jeanne, I liked the devotional.  I have never seen jealousy explained like that before.  It is encouraging to realise that God is jealous for us.

I don't understand why people don't like the idea of health care reform.  The cost of healthcare is so high and not to have to make insurance companies benefit from people's sickness has got to be the best option.  Here in the U.K. we pay a national insurance stamp.  If we had to cover our healthcare by paying private insurance companies we would be paying signinficantly more money.  I don't know why you are all against the idea.

Anyway.  God bless all and I hope you all have a great day.

Anthony.

I am thinking that this HC bill is going to break the insurance companies.  They will be forced to cover people on their parents insurance until they are 26.  The small companies will be forced to have insurance for their employees.  And some companies will be forced to cover pre-existing health issues.  This is all good, don't get me wrong.  But the insurance companies will be paying for it and thus our premiums will go sky high and we will have to cancel!  Similar to our utility bills.  They keep going higher and higher and higher but I am a Senior Citizen, my income stays the same.  Who would think that I would be paying $70 a month just to watch TV?  And $65 for telephone service with DSL for my internet?  But I am fortunate not to have a water bill, sewage bill, trash pick-up bill.  So I am grateful for what I have and I could cut back if needed.  I am not like our government...using money that I don't have.  And I still don't see the economy is bad in my area.  You go to any restaurant at breakfast, lunch or dinner time and they are filled!  So people are still spending their money and their money must be coming from somewhere...hope they aren't charging on their credit cards!  That's like spending money you don't have!  Back in my corner now...

I don't know why I am in a cooking frenzy but I have been lately.  First, cornbread and beans.  Then a pot of chili.  Today a pot of smoked sausage, carrots, potatoes, onions and green beans together.  The house smells delicious though!

A bright and sunny day today in Indiana.  It started out chilly...freezing.  But warming up!

I guess there are more differences in our cultures than I had ever imagined, Anthony and Liz.  Anyway, we freedom loving Americans do not like to have our elected officials run over us rough shod, totally ignoring the will of the people for whom they are supposed to be working.

Oh, my.  They are talking on TV about how many KINDERGARTNERS are coming to school with cell phones!   :idiot:  What are those parents thinking?

I am home from work, will rest a bit, then go to lunch at Senior center, then to the church to work on burritos again.  We are to get them delivered sometime this afternoon, and sure not many (4 when I went by, counting me) helping with them!

Hi, Etta Sue!  You posted while I was composing.  All that food sounds sounds yummy.

Good Morning from the rainy, overcast and dreary southwestern Oregon Coast. It is supposed to clear up some tomorrow.  When the sun does come out it seems to pull the grass right up  out of the ground and make it too tall.

I am going to call the vet and see how much it will cost me to bring Happy in for an allergy shot and to get him a prescription. Even with the change in his diet he is still itching and chewing on his paws and legs. I cannot stand to see my poor dog in such misery.

Willa has not told anyone that I am coming down and going to church, we are going to surprise everyone when I walk in with her unexpectedly. I am  so excited to be going  to  my home church. I have not been to church since I moved here.

On the first I have an appointment to have my nails done and I need to get over to Kmart to buy a gift card for Forest's birthday. His is the same day as Jane's birthday, the 3rd, I won't be here for Jane's birthday and I don't know if she will be back from California by then or not. She said she may be there for at least another week.

Etta Sue your meal that you have cooking sounds so good. You posted while I  am still typing.  Keith has been concerned about the small business part of the new HC bill, He only has one part time employee, his secretary now only comes in  once per week maybe twice, she has Social Security and Medicare plus her own supplements and Keith carries no insurance whatsoever not even on himself, he never has had insurance. Now he will be taxed heavily for not having insurance on his secretary  and fine for not having insurance on himself. He will be eligible for Medicare in another year.

My big question on the health care bill is how am I supposed to pay insurance premiums.  I consider I've had a very good month if there is $15 left when the next Social Security payment arrives.  I've had to cut back my cable to just basic in order to save $38 a month.  (That means I no longer have the two Christian stations I enjoyed.  :'( ) My trailer needs a roof, the skirting needs repair or replacing, and New York State has mandated (with no provision to pay for it) that all porches, decks and outside stairs have railings with spindles not more than 4" apart by this June.   I'm pinching pennies where I can and leaning on the Lord for the rest.   ;)

So very sad to hear so many problems; especially the ones we are not in control of. I will add your concerns to my prayer list.

May I add what my problem is since I last post??

When my doggy passed away last Sat. March 13, about 6 hrs. later the storm caused damage plus lost power in my home for about 3 days. I think that is where I last spoke to you.

ON Friday, went to Penna. for rest and within an one hour of being there...I get bit on my hand and wrist by my neighbor's dog.Ironic, right??? He had a good hold on my wrist so that also created problems.  They could not stop the bleeding so off to emergency room where they cleaned the wound and gave me a much needed tetanus shot...Also started me on antibiotics,
Which I find really, REALLY upsets my stomach.

My husband decided time to go home on Monday to my own doctors and we left in an hit another rainstorm that was coming through.

Yes, you guessed it, we had an accident--hydraplaned on Route 80 into a guard rail and back out into traffic as I watched the good LORD's hand guided or pushed a truck out of our way so we missed that...One car after another hydraplaned in the same spot...Closed interstate for awhile.

Praise the Lord, we did not get hurt, so prayers for us please....the nine days that this all happened to us are very trying.

Praise the Lord, that we are Christians who believe in trusting the Lod--could never make it without HIM

QuoteAlso started me on antibiotics,

Joyce those antibiotics are soo hard on the stomach.  Kassie has had 3 rounds 2 for a cat bite and one for a dog bite.  BE very careful with that dog bite.  Watch very closely for infection.  If you see any striping up or down the arm get back to hospital.  Bites are so very serious.

This has been a long week.  I have helped a friend in an emergency situation.  We got the job done but we are all sore and tired.

John is home tonight.  He is talking about going out on Sunday afternoon.  Wish it were Monday AM.  Oh well ya gotta do what ya gotta do right?

Heading to bed be back tomorrow.  Night folks!

We had really loud thunder boomers last night, a nice rain all night and this morning.  I haven't waded out to look at the rain guage yet, but I estimate it might be nearly an inch anyway.  We will see how good (or bad) a guesser I am.  ;)

I was really beat when I came home last night.  We had orders for 87 dozen burritos!  Finally the gal who was sort of in charge said "Don't take any more orders!"  We had to buy, sort and cook more beans twice, for a total of 50# of beans!  Lots of work, but a really good fund raiser.  And Larry is right, we probably won't want to look at another burrito for some time!  Of course I do have some I bought for us to eat.  :)

There are bad winds across the plains yesterday and today.  I hope Darrel can get safely home.  When I called them late yesterday, they were 40 miles out of Albuquerque, and had seen signs warning of the wind all along their way.  Toni had also called three times to warn them and tell them about semi trailers being blown over around albuquerque.  I asked Darrel to stay there if it is dangerous to drive today, and to let me know if he is coming home today or not, but haven't heard from him yet.

I hope all of you have a great weekend, whatever you are doing!

I had the whole day off today which was nice.  I went to the shops and brought a few clothes.  I also ordered an Internet radio, so I am hoping that I will be able to tune into some of the Christians stations that you have over in America.

I am sorry if I caused offence about the comments on health care reform.  I do not really know what it will mean to you all.  I just read a post on Facebook who was concerned because her contributions will be, in effect, funding abortions.  There is always two sides to a debate.  Whatever happens, God is still in control and not the politicians.

Clocks are going forward tonight so we have one less hour in bed and I have to be up at 5.30am for work.  I think I will go to bed at 8.30 tonight to make sure I don't oversleep.

God bless all.

Anthony.

Well, when Kitty brought me home from swimming last evening, I could see from way down the road that something shiny was sitting behind my garage.  Tony and Charlene were here trimming bushes and picking up limbs.

Tony came back today and he picked up Ivalou's limbs and took them all back to the woods and burnt them.  Meanwhile, I rolled and mowed my lawn...yes, I mowed March 27, 2010!!  The roller is filled with water and looks a lot larger than a 50-gallon drum.  I rolled and mowed Ivalou's back yard.  Those pesky moles have sure done a number in our yards this winter!!  Then Tony asked where my power washer was.  So he power washed my deck...it did a great job!  While he was loading his 4-wheeler and the roller on his utility trailer, I decided to use the power washer to blow the leaves out of the rocks around the house.  Now where do you think they went?  Up on my clean deck!  Grrr!  So then I hooked up the regular hose and hosed down the deck again.  Tony left after me hugging him and thanking him soooo much for a wonderful Mother's Day gift!

I was starving so I had more of my sausage, potatoes, carrots, onions and green beans.

Ivalou's daughter, Teresa, and two greats, Isabel and Gus, are at Ivalou's house.  So I went over there to visit for awhile and finally came home and got in the shower!  I am pooped.

I didn't even get my morning devotions done until after 4pm!

That's my day.  It was a nice partly sunny day but kind of cool...in the 30's then rose to 58° this afternoon.

Hi everyone.  Sitting here enjoying the Kansas State/Butler basketball game.

We went out to lunch with a group of friends and then came home and had a nice nap.

I just finished reading Sarah Palin's Book "Going Rogue" and really enjoyed it.  I am very impressed with that lady she has been through a lot and relies on her faith.  It is a very readable book as well.  She has a journalism degree and writes very well.

Joyce, it sounds like the last few days will not be forgotten anytime soon.  So glad you were not injured in the traffic accident and hope you are feeling better from the antibiotic.

Anthony, I don't any of us took offense to your comments.  As Janet said we approach it from a different viewpoint and are seeing our freedoms, which are very important to most Americans, being eroded very quickly.  I heard today that the new Health Care Act took 2,800 pages so we have no idea what is really in it.  For some reason they didn't want the American people to have time to even read the bill, not that most Americans would or could considering its size and the complexity of the language in acts of Congress.

Judy, glad John is able to be home for the weekend.

Janet, hope Darrell didn't experience any significant traffic problems. Is he driving your new car?

Jeanne, I read this week that the Medicare co-pay will increase several dollars this year and next and there will unlikely be any increase in Social Security.  I really wonder what a lot of people are going to do that rely on it as things seem to increase in price.

Marilyn, it sounds like you need a good umbrella with all the rain.

I got the following from a friend today and felt it was something I wanted to share here:

Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to Kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go....hmm...where is my Bible?

Oh, and one more thing.

Unlike our cell  phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being
Disconnected because Jesus already paid the  bill.

Makes you stop and think 'where are my priorities? And no dropped calls!

When Jesus died for us, he was thinking of you!

I slept good last night.  I must have really been tired and I even shut off the light before 11pm!

It is raining today so I may drive Kitty and I to Kokomo to the Awards program.  I didn't submit photos this year to their contest.  Kitty did but didn't get ribboned.  And we are picking up other people's photos.  Kitty doesn't like driving in the rain.  So I may drive.  I am to call her when Sunday School is over.  Then we will eat somewhere and be at the building in Kokomo by 2pm.

Butler is one of the expensive lesser colleges in Indiana.  Not known for the sports at all.  Purdue and IU are known for sports and academics.  So us Hoosiers are pleased as pups that Butler is in the final four.  In my high school days, the final four was played at Butler...then a huge gymnasium.  Now most high school gyms put that gym to shame.

Hi everyone.  Sitting here waiting until time to leave for the Palm Sunday services today at the church.  The choir is offering two anthems today, one in the normal spot before the sermon and then during the offering. We have two brothers playing trumpet for our services today.  We will also do two anthems on Easter and a special Introit.  Our director decided not to do a Cantata for Easter this year.

Marilyn, thanks for the link, I will certainly check it out.

Etta Sue, I am sure the folks in Indiana are very proud of the Butler Bulldogs.  They have a very good team as does West Virginia.  The games today should be interesting as well.  I see they start earlier today than yesterday.  The first game is probably going to interfere with my nap but perhaps will see the end of the game, which is always the most exciting anyway.

Hope this is a good day for those not feeling up to par and for those who are.  It is the day God has given us so let us rejoice and give thanks for it.

Etta Sue, we Kansans aren't as pleased with the results of the game as you Hoosiers!  ;)  Both teams played well, I thought.  I watched the second half, and Darrel got home in time to see the last quarter.  He and Curtis got to see the hard-won game the KSU boys played earlier; the one with double overtimes.

Larry, Darrel took the older Mercury (1995) and said it ran perfectly and got good mileage, too.  He was glad he didn't take the new one as he said a truck had spilled a lot of gravel on the highway, and a truck ahead of them was really throwing it at them.  He didn't know if he got any new chips in the windshiled or dings in the paint, but said if he'd been in the new one, he might have.

We have two other couples coming for supper, so will have a fun evening of visiting with friends.  Not sure if I am working tomorrow or not.

I came back to assure Anthony that I was not offended by what he said about health care reform.  Just is a very different situation, I guess.  God is still in control; He is our provider, and I trust HIm to take care of us.
