Hi backatcha, Pat ... how come I don't see your photo ... or mine?   ???

Never mind .... I just fixed it!  :thumbsup:
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

There's still some tweaking to do.  Not sure why.  Hey, I see yours.

Carol

We continue to purge and pack and I found the cell phone hidden behind stuff.  We had a coupon given to us by probably one of the children for Starbucks (don't they know I mostly boycott) and slurped frozen coffee while temps are into high 80's here right now.

Chatted with cousin's wife who is in Yuma, AZ right now & my cuz is out on the golf course.  Talk about a cardiac risk because temps there are about 100 degrees F.  Can you imagine?  Dry heat - it is still exhausting.

Pat is going to change my picture in here so that will be very nice.  As if she isn't busy enough and now she has to babysit me in a photo change.   ::)

Pat:  Thanks for sending along the message from Joni about Forsaken Feelings.  We all have been there one time or another and this message is such a comfort.

Etta Sue:  Happy Trails to you.....until me meet again!

Hi everyone.  We had a day without rain today and finally this afternoon saw the sun for a little bit but still on about 50 degrees so not very warm.

This was a busy day as after coffee I headed down to Atlanta to spend a couple of hours with our daughter.  Pat is still under the weather with the flu and wasn't in any condition to so.  Our daughter had had to go to the ER a couple of nights ago as she looked down and her sock was blood soaked.  Another skin break had occurred on her foot and she didn't even know it.  I saw it today as she put some ointment on it that I had picked up for her at Kroger his morning.  It is not a pretty thing to behold and is not a small sore.  She has no feeling in her feet due to the neuropathy, although suffer pain from the broken bones in her foot.  She also got some antibiotic based on her visit to the ER.  Hope she can get it under control  She is not able to wear her shoe as that is apparently what caused the sore.

I picked up a sub at Kroger's and we just ate at her apartment today rather than eating out.  I enjoyed the visit with her and know she gets very lonely in that small apartment.  We are not going to bring her here for overnight at this time because she has to be on her foot too much and the foot doctor wants her to stay off if it to the maximum extent possible.  So we will go down and see her every two weeks plus talk with her on the phone once a day or more.

So I am behind on my web reading for today.  I have read all the postings but will not comment tonight.  I should have a little more time tomorrow.

Ruth Ann Bice

So good to see everyone joining the conversation. I had several "God moments" today.

1. I had a return appt. to the ear specialist. Not only did the visit go well, but as I was waiting to see him, the receptionist was speaking with a young man who apparently has been having some difficulties that she knew about. As she was speaking with him through the window while he was sitting in the nearly empty waiting room, first she inquired if he was "doing okay", then after a few moments of conversation, she said, "well, I'll be earnestly praying for you." How good is that!!! A wonderful doctor, great patient care, and now to learn there's at least one christian working there. :)

2. After the appointment, I was preparing to drive away and a very close friend called - she had a flat tire. Since I was only about 2-3 miles from their home, I drove out, picked her up, we ate and fellowshipped together, then, I was privileged (along with her) to attend the funeral of a great scholar, christian leader, and theologian in the Nazarene church, Dr. William M. Greathouse. Oh, Oh, what a wonderful blessing to be in that huge congregation where the grand old songs of the church were sung, a full choir or men sang God's praises so beautifully, and heard wonderful tributes by the children, grandson (an Episcopal priest), and leaders from around the world who loved and worked with him.

3. We ate with her sister and good friend.  And the good friend volunteered to help put the emergency tire on her vehicle. Well, no one was strong enough to turn the lug nuts, but I had stopped at an auto parts store and encouraged her to get a can of Fix a Flat. They ended up using it, then used an electric pump in my road emergency kit to air the tire up enough to drive to a tire store.

As they drove off, a really nice man pulled to the intersection volunteering to chas3e them down and try to get that emergency tire on for them.

What a day of blessing-counting. We commented that God makes no mistakes - He works out everything in His own timing...praise his name!

I've been touch typing, so hope this isn't too hard to decipher. Eyes are about shot for the day, but I just HAD to come to praise our loving God, who sees to our needs be they great or small.

Much love to Him, and to each of you,
Ruth Ann

Yes, the room really looks like the picture other than the couch is on the same wall as the bed.  We have one light we can't seem to turn on...probably us and not the light.  Anyway, it is kind of dark in here for three women to get ready at this hour of the morn.

Last night was full of laughter, fun, thoughts, and God.  And the desserts at this place!!  A diabetic sure can't indulge here!  I had a scone with lemon curd...now I know what curd is!  And a brownie like things with cheesecake/marshmallow then chocolate icing.  When we came out of the meeting, there was a black berry cobble, and some kind of cookie bars!  At 8am we can have breakfast!  Coffee!!

I don't think we slept very good last night.  But rested!  Hope it is nice enough to do some shopping today!  Nashville is full of all kinds of shops to juried art to socks!!  Maybe the second night will be better and tomorrow night our own beds.

Maybe later!

Hi everyone.  We are seeing the sun this morning and it sure looks good.  Still going to be cool today.  I just spoke with our daughter and she feels better when the sun shines.  She hurts much worse when it is stormy and lightening seems to give her a lot of pain in her legs.

I have been busy paying bills this morning after coffee as it is the first of the month.  Now have to update the Money program where we keep track of payments and balances.  Pat usually does this each month but just isn't feeling up to it yet so I am doing it this month.  I used to do it all the time but I wanted her to be comfortable doing this type of thing in case something happened to me.

I plan on staying home today and just having a leisurely paced day.  I have just a very few pages left to finish the ebook I am reading, which has been a very enjoyable one.  It is called "The Whistling Season" by Ivan Doig.  It revolves around a one-room school house and a man with three sons to raise after losing his wife.  I have really enjoyed it as it brings back a lot of memories in having attended a one-room school house myself for my grade school years.

Etta Sue, did you ladies stay up talking to long last night or just too much sugar energy from all those deserts?  :)  Glad you are able to attend and hope it is a wonderfully Spirit blessed event for you all.

Ruth Ann, what a full day you had yesterday and being aware of God's many miracles right before your eyes and more importantly recognizing them.  You did very well with your touch typing.

Pat

Good Morning Everyone!

Etta Sue, I'm so happy you now know what Lemon Curd is!!!  I love it and it's great on scones and freshly baked Ulster Wheaten Bread!

Hello Larry...  This is so upsetting to read about your daughter's foot and how she feels.  Please give her my love.  It was so good to meet her when we were there.

I found that you really have to get into it. The motions you make have to really have some enthusiasm. Kind of like that wii thingy where you swing your arms and jump up and down like a wild person. Guess it's not going to work so good for us old people.

Well I guess I got caught for April Fools Day by the computer.  I've been trying for the last two days to get here using my bookmark that has always opened to the forum and kept getting "404 Not Found".  I decided to see what would happen if I just used the url to take me to the home page.  Success!  Then "hmm wonder what will happen if I click on "forums""  Again, success and here I am.  I guess I'll have to replace that bookmark.  Now I have a lot of catching up to do!  :)

Well I think my April's Fool day was yesterday. When I clicked my link this is what I got. Never seen it before. I checked the url and it was right so I don't know what was going on. Guess it had something with the change over.

I think my body played a trick on me today. My blood sugar must have hit a record low. Was in my car, got extremely shaky, stopped to get something at a fast "slow" food restaurant. Was trapped in line for over 45 min feeling worse by the minute. Got food, got into a parking space, ate, then waited 45 more min before trying to drive home. Stopped again, got something sweet, waited 30 more min. Finally made it home, into the bldg, but too shaky to go up the elevator. Now in apt, but am trusting that God and the food will work together.

Rest assured, I'm here and made sure the pull cord is in reach! G'nite, friends.

Ruth Ann:  So sorry that you had such a scare and such a long wait for food.  My husband has been having urgent feelings of needing food on a much lower scale that you and we started carrying energy bars and water bottles in the car - but of course, real food just seems to help quicker.  Good that you are resting - hope you are now asleep.  It is good to see you posting.

Talked with cousin who has been having dizzy problems & she is going for a different set of doctors once they drive back to Minnesota.  I hope so.

We visited with our friends today and he is not well but did fine going out to a cafe for awhile.  Temperature set a record of 100*F today otherwise it would not be until April 15th.  This is not an April Fool Joke! :P

Larry:  Such a concern for Stacey with lack of feeling in her foot.

I just cleaned the entire refrigerator which should not be any problem but if you could have seen the convoluted way of getting trays out you would have a good laugh at me.  The ref. is too big for the little kitchen and I mean everything has to be moved carefully or something scratches - how they ever got the thing in there is beyond my imagination.  Don had to come and help - and, of course it was at least 95 degrees in the kitchen - not my best moment today.  All cooled down now & we are ready to pack the vehicle tomorrow & head home.

Etta Sue

Well, our time here is almost over.  I did my presentation last evening and part of it was making blankets to send to Africa.  The fleece blankets that were pre-cut and you tie the ties.  They are a turquoise color with white 'God Loves You' written on the turquoise...the color of African waters.  The minister's son went to Africa two summers ago.  That same group is taking these (12) to Africa and has promised to send photos back of the kids with their blankets!

I got April Fooled yesterday also.  I do a Shockwave Jigsaw puzzle every day.  After moving the pieces I started to solve the puzzle by clicking on a piece and dragging it in place.  I clicked, dragged, let go and it would move up...or down.  After about 4 times, a pop up said April Fools!  Then all was good.

I am sure you realized what my April Fools was for you.

No matter how much clicking, it won't open and it never loads!

Well, we have breakfast and then we have one more presentation.  Then heading north.  I don't know if we will stop at the outlet mall or not.  But we will probably eat somewhere so we won't have to cook when we get home.  But we should be home this afternoon sometime.

Hi everyone.  I got up a little earlier this morning as was rested and ready.  I expect to have a fairly busy day today.  I have some responsibilities at a meeting I am attending this morning.  I will come home and have a bite of lunch, rest for a hour or so, and then the lady I work with on the Golden Games will be here about 2:30 to finish up the applications and print out the various reports they need to run the games.  With the laser printer I have it doesn't take long to print the reports and the applications are done unless she finds a error I have made in the initial entry.  It is always helpful to have one person do the work and another to check it and our system has worked well.

Later today and this evening I will watch the Final Four of the NCAA Tourney.  Hope they are good games.  All of the teams expected to make it have fallen by the wayside.

Carol, I hope you left the refrigerator on while you were cleaning to get a little coolness as the 95 degrees sounds terrible.  You will enjoy being back in the Denver area and getting some cooler weather.

Ruth Ann, how scary was the experience you had.  I think my daughter carries some little emergency packs to use if her blood sugar drops too low.  Sounds like you need to find a different "fast" food place.  Glad you have access to emergency help with your pull cord.  Hope you are feeling better today.  That diabetes is a tough thing to control.

Don, it looks like your experience in getting here had to do with the change of servers.  I didn't experience that but didn't try to come in during the PM hours and by the time I checked again things had migrated to the new server.  I almost got catch yesterday morning with one of those April fool's jokes on a website where I was reading.  There are some very clever people out there to think these things up.

Etta Sue, have a safe trip home.

Don

Well I just cooked 3 strips of crispy bacon on my George Forman grill, fixed myself a bowl of grits, broke that bacon up in small pieces in that bowl of grits, poured myself a pint of milk, Thanked the Lord for it.

It's so interesting to read all of your experiences.  Not yours, RuthAnn!!  That sounds awful!

Not sure what page you had, Don!!!  Pretty girl though!  Wish I were that young again!

Etta Sue, your little trip sounds so interesting.  I hope you took photos to share with us.  I still love that room you stayed in!  Beautiful!!!

Larry, is Pat better now from that flu bug?  I hope so.  Last weekend I had something for sure but I did have my flu shot this year so it was probably just an upset tummy.

I'm hoping to meet up with Ruthie either today or tomorrow.  Milton Wendy's or Tim Horton's is exactly half way from Ruthie's house to mine here in Guelph so it's pretty handy for us to just decide to meet for a cup of coffee.  It's a 30 to 40 minute drive but that's not far when you really like a person, is it?

Carol, I have to get Paul to help me get my fridge out so that I can clean behind it when he's here next.  I know I'm going to find something terrible under it and behind it but I just can't move it by myself.  I will work on that photo for your avatar for you today.  Just wish you could find one with you in the photo quite a bit larger!!!  ;)

Who's missing?

Well, I have to do some vacuuming.  So I better get at it.

Don, I don't care for grits too much but when my late hubby was ill, a good friend sent from Georgia, 40 pounds of stone ground grits from a mill to him as he could eat grits but not other kinds of cereal as there was too much phosphorus in the other cereals like rolled oats and other porridge meals.  That was so kind of her.  She got it to one of the SeniorNet ladies (Pat Howe) who brought it up to our home here in Guelph.

Because He Lives
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by William J. Gaither
copyright 1971

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
Matthew 28:6

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
