Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Also, Janet ... you should know better than to think you're invisible.  Not when you post in bold blue!   :D [/b]

Okay, okay, okay!! Sorry about that!  I was feeling disappointed that nobody commented about my sister's book.  I got my copy yesterday, and she dedicated it to ME!!  Big surprise, and I am so pleased.  I sat right down and read the whole book, and really enjoyed it.  It is the story of our family, from the time my parents met, up through the time we kids left home, and a little beyond.

Ruth Ann, I'm so glad you will be getting relief for your ear.  Earaches are NOT nice.

We are going to Garden City today, at least that's the plan......but Darrel has been vomiting.  Please, Lord, don't let him be sick!  I think it is because he took his pills on an empty stomach this morning.

To answer your question, we will be gone for 32 days this time.  So we are looking for some kind of phone whereby we can get in touch; as I don't like to be out of touch with our Moms and Beth for that long.

It is cloudy and cooler here today, but still no moisture.

Good Morning.  Jane I hope it is as quick for me when I go to register my car for Oregon and get new plates etc. Then I need to get my new drivers license, and tags for the dogs, I don't know where to get the dogs tags yet but I will sure look into that right away.

I was so busy sorting through my old metal desk yesterday that I forgot to eat breakfast until 11:45 so just ate lunch instead. Gilbert came by to say hi while he was in town  so I had him help me put the desk out by the street with a free sign on it. I hope someone comes along and takes it.

Judy I hope the girls ears "pop" so they won't be in  pain and that Kass gets better real soon.

Janet In researching online for a new cell phone I found that Verizon has the best  area coverage. But you have to get a two year contract when you sign up. most of the cell phone companies  want you to sign a two year contract., unless you are going only buy  you minutes in advance then maybe you  can try Tracfone.

Thanks Marilyn.

Janet I have been wondering if there was a way I could buy a copy of your book?

This is one of those boring days that I hate, well I have sewing I can do.

Etta Sue

Verizon does have a pay-as-you-go plan.  Ivalou has it.  But if you don't already have a Verizon phone, you have to purchase one and then pay ahead for the minutes.  They don't advertise the pay-as-you-go plan, though.

And Janet ~ I did think to myself when reading about your sister's book...how great that would be for Ivalou and I to collaborate a book of memories!  What a treasure to pass down through the years.

And JudyB ~ I had to laugh about your dog chewing the bed.  Last night at Guild a person had printed a photo.  It was of a beautiful Collie dog sitting beside something with white at the top half.  We asked what is that white?  It was stuffing on a chair where the dog had chew the covering off!!!  And it wasn't her dog...she was dog sitting!!!  The Collie looked so cute and innocent!

Today is a nothing day...meaning I don't have to go anywhere.  But I am drying my third load of laundry.  And I have a pot of my favorite meal on the stove.  Smoked sausage, green beans, potatoes, carrots and onions!  The house smells wonderful!!!  Almost time for lunch!

I am still amazed at how great the photos that the members of Kilbuck Photo Guild presents for us all to view and gently critique.  We viewed about 75 prints, slides and digital photos...every last one of them were superb!

Tomorrow is Red Hats.  I understand we are eating at Bird's Smokehouse BBQ...the same place 60 Chix are having lunch the following day!  Hope they have a variety of items on the menu or they have exceptionally great food!  Tomorrow we are visiting a Christian Bible Store also.

:cheer:  Etta Sue:   I think that you have a very funfilled life and I have never heard of so many different restaurants that you go to.  You do a lot of fun things and it is great how the Lord gives you the strength to do all these things.  God bless your week.Iforgot to say that I like your new picture.

Judy B.  Sis.  That's funny about the dog bed.  I hope that the girls will get there strength back soon.  I got a very nice email from Heather.  God bless. <3

To all others I have read your posts and will be remembering you all.  Have a great week and may the Lord richly bless you.  Gord. :coffee:

Marilyn and Etta Sue--We have Verizon, as they just bought out Alltel.  But they do not have world-wide phone service.  And we checked on TracFone today--they have international service BUT only if you are calling from the US, not TO the US, so that doesn't help us at all.  I guess we will just buy a card when we get there that gives us an hour or two of prepaid calling, and use a phone there.  I don't know what else to do.  You can buy a European chip, but not one for Asia.  Crazy.

My sister's book is $12.00, and if any of you want a copy, just let me know, or you can email her at just4me@satelephone.com and she will get it into the mail for you.  I'm not sure what the postage would be, but she is selling this first batch at her cost, so it would be necessary to pay the postage.  (Anyway it would be nice!)

We just got home from Garden City, got the few things still needed for our trip; mostly Darrel's prescriptions.  We had to get them at Wal*Mart, as our local pharmacy wouldn't give him enough for the 32 days we will be away.  How silly is that?  :-\

I need to go check on my Beth girl.

Janet, I easily followed your saga of your sister's book, for my own brother has a book of devotions for men who travel - the focus is on personal purity while away from the family. It will be published soon, with a price similar to your sister's (if my memory serves me right).

It's a wonderful thing when we can share in our family's love and joy of the skills of our family members. My brother has turned out to be sooo great (and his wife, as well). Mother and Dad are surely smiling today.

I went to the longevity center this afternoon and exercised for about an hour. It's my "inaugural" visit, since I've been so busy either packing at the house or unpacking and putting away here at my new home. Ahhhh, how refreshing to do the exercises that help strengthen my legs. And, once the ear is better, I'll be able to go into the pool for water therapy, too. :)

Then, I went to the post office and mailed off my passport renewal application. Jane, I understand about yukky pictures...what a shame I'm stuck with this one on the passport for 10 more years. :(  But, it's a cinch, I don't want to be without the passport, just in case I need to go to my son over there for some reason.

And, a pot of ole fashioned goulash is on the stove simmering to go with me to the Bible study this evening. Smells yummy.

Imagine! Here there's a chance we'll break a more than 100 year old heat record of a high of about 80 degrees - then a cold front comes through tonight and tomorrow the high will only be in the 40s.

Y'all have a great rest of the day.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Ruth

Ruth Ann:   A pot of goulash send some to my house I have not had that for some time.

We woke up to fog and now that is gone but we now have sun and wind and I expect the temp. will be dropping later in the day.

Company for Mel has just arrived giving me a reason to stay and play a little longer here.   Not that I can't join in.    I just got a phone call will have to go and try to find some info. from our guest.

JudyB

Etta Sue I had a night like yours earlier.  The dogs were even bothered by the weather.  Rain, and high winds gusts up to 50 KM.  Now that works out to 8- mph.  Times like this concern me because of the trees near the house.  We have 2 spruce trees about 80 feet tall that are near the house and would fall on our bed is they came down!!!  They are pretty healthy so that isn't likely to happen but it does worry one.

I have the fire going, and Kass is home with a severe dose of bronchitis.  I will be calling the school for work when I am done here.

Must run I have a lot to do today.

Marilyn

I am taking a little break from getting some of the final packing done of the things I know I won't be using between now and then. It was sure cold here when I got up this morning. 29°.

I've got a load of laundry in the dryer, and cleaned under the kitchen sink, what mess that was so  there had been a leak I guess and the metal containers left rust  marks that I had a hard time scrubbing away.

Judy, sorry to hear that Kassie is so sick,  Did you change Gyp's name to something else? I haven't seen you say anything about him.

Good for you Ruth Ann going to the gym to work out, I know you will feel so much better and feel so full of life.

Well I think I will go walk the dogs. I didn't got o Curves this morning as I didn't wake up until 5:30 and decided to stay home where it was warm.

HI everyone.  This has been a busy day so far and still have choir practice this evening.  However, it is nice and warm and we have the front door open.  It is now 74 degrees.  Tomorrow will be a little cooler.

This morning after coffee Pat and I went to Bible study with the pastor.  We had a group of 20 seniors meeting this morning.  Several of us then did our usual thing and went to the donut shop.  We left a little early as I wanted to get home to finish up the reports I was printing out for the Golden Games.  I had to create a new report that was needed and that took a lot of time as I have had no training in using the Microsoft Access Program.  However, finally got it created.  My son is the expert, who designed the database we are using and created the other reports.  I expected the lady I am working with on the Games to stop by and pick up the reports but it doesn't look like she will stop by today.  I think I have all my work one on the Games for this year except to print out a few sponsor certificates of appreciation when I get the list.

Janet, that was nice of your sister to dedicate the book to you and sure she wanted to surprise you when you read it in print.  I didn't comment as you discussed the book not from a lack of interest but because I didn't have anything of interest to say regarding it.  Hope Darrell is feeling better soon.

I have enjoyed all the postings today, except for the new of those not feeling well.  See you all tomorrow.

Etta Sue

Today was Red Hats.  Bird's Smokehouse BBQ was fairly good.  I was a little disappointed.  Probably what I ordered.  But I am going back again tomorrow with the 60 Chix so I will order something different.  The building is really nice.  All logs, new and clean facility!  We were the first ones there today but before we left, it filled up!

Then we went shopping at a couple of places and then stopped at Dairy Queen for dessert!

And talk about cold.  Here it was 74° yesterday and today it is only 35° right now and suppose to get down to 20° tonight!  Everyone will have colds by the weekend!  The wind is fierce.  Never have had winds in Indiana like this year!  When you are out in it, it cuts to the bone!!

^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+

JudyB

It is cold here today and the wind hasn't stopped.  I can see trees down in the bush, that will be the beginning of our wood supply for next year.  I drove out to pick up Kassie's puffers and saw others have trees down as well.  We are having a hard time getting the house warm, it is an old farm house, with little insulation.  The wind seems to go right through the walls.

This has been a quiet day, Kass has been home and I always enjoy the girls company one on one.  Kass goes to camp again this year, she is taking either Itac or intro to areospace.  Both are 6 week courses.  We are hoping for the aero space as it will lead to her getting her wings.  Also the course is about 2 hours away and we will be able to go down and see her.  The other course is in Trenton and that is 8 hours away.  That is minus all the stops the bus makes.

Well I am off to make supper, will maybe be back later.

Janet

Just a couple lines to say howdy.  I have company from Dallas, and she doesn't often get here, so I'm off this thing to enjoy her company.  See you tomorrow!

JudyB

Morning all.  Just a quick note very early in the morning.  I am driving the girls down to the bus.

I will be back, later.

Ruth

Good morning:    We woke to a big skift of snow which has not all gone yet.

At the present I am getting the banking up to date before heading for an eye appointment this afternoon.  I expect to be getting the drops so will not be able to see things right for a while after. I hope the news is not bad but I do know that there is something to be concerned about.

Again the phone is on hold seems to happen when you are busy doing something. Have a wonderful day.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

JudyB

Ruth I am praying about your eye condition.

This is another cold day. I had a call from the school about the girls course selection for next year.   That is now all set up.

I have a lot I want to accomplish today so I am off here for now.  Be back later.

Janet

I think I have gotten nearly everything done that is needed before we leave.  At least, I hope so!

I have emailed and received responses from both of our Thai "grandkids" Joe and Aimmy.  Both are excited to have us coming again, and Joe will even meet us at the airport!  We are so pleased about that.

Darrel has gotten the alarm put into service, and is taking care of other things like that.

I have taken money for Beth and put it with the office personnel.  They are only allowed a few dollars in their rooms, to lessen the temptations of theft.

I'm so glad Beth is loved by the people working at the home; and they assure me they will take good care of her, and get everything moved for her on the 25th.

So....just a few last-minute things, and when Saturday morning arrives, we are out of here!

Today was 60 Chix at Bird's Smokehouse BBQ.  Better today than yesterday.  I ordered a different meal.  But I don't think I would make a special trip there for a meal again!  There were 7 of us there today.  I thought there would be a lot more but wasn't.

I forgot my camera but another girl had hers so I brought the Smart Card home and saved the pic on my laptop and took her Smart Card back.  She only lives a block or two away.  But she wanted me to see some photos she took in Florida. So I was gone this afternoon, too.

Now Kitty and I are going for pizza at 5:30pm.  Her hubby won't be home this evening!

Tomorrow the ladies in the church are going to Brown County, Indiana, to a Ladies Retreat.  We are going to a different motel this time.  We will spend the night and come home Saturday afternoon!

I always really enjoy spiritual retreats, Etta Sue. What a time of blessing and making new friends, too.

Janet, safe travels, dear. You and Darrel work so hard, it's great that y'all can play a bit as well.

I forgot my morning meds, so ended up falling back asleep and not awakening until almost 1 pm. Of course, head was aching and blood sugars elevated. Not a good thing to do.

The weather's teetering on the brink of a winter storm all day today. So, I want to check out the forecast before leaving the premises. I really need to get a new battery for my watch and also one of the wireless phones in my apartment. And, of course, I have a whole laundry list of things needing to be done while I'm out. hmmmm, I may just "table" everything until tomorrow! :)

Y'all have a good evening.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  This was a very busy day here but the weather, while a little cooler, was still very nice and we were able to have the front door open this afternoon for awhile.

I had to have a blood test done to check on the PSA count (routine) so after coffee and walking this morning I headed out.  After the blood test I stopped at MicroCenter and got another meg of memory for Pat's computer.  This should speed it up.  I am going to clone her hard drive and put in a larger one that I have on hand.

Then I attended our bi-monthly retirees luncheon at a Ryan's Steakhouse.  There were only 4 of us there, including my last boss when I came back to Atlanta.  I hadn't seen him since 1995.  We had a very nice time of catching up on folks we had all worked with over the years.

Ruth

Here I am again, I do not usually return twice in one day let alone every day.

Thought I would share the news about my eye appointment. I was at the specialists for 3 1/2 hours visited 4 different rooms 4 different tests and in between sat in 4 different waiting rooms, the end result I have what is called a horners eye (one pupil is larger than the other) usually about 3 cases a yr for this Dr. so I happen to be one of them.  How did it happen he has suggested that at some point since  I had last seen him or an eye Dr.  I had picked up an infection that affected one of the nerves that goes to the eye. Now I am different one pupil larger than the other but no damage of any kind to my vision. Praise the Lord for that.

This sure made for a long afternoon and an even longer one for Mel as he came along in case I needed drops to enlarge the eye and also to save on parking fees.  I really feel that when seeing a Dr. of any kind we should not have to pay for parking but that is the way things are, so live with it we must do.

Judy:  Thanks for praying

I must get busy with my knitting again.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Summicron

I wrote this lot out once, then failed to post it, so here we go again. Hi folks, not had much patience to upload or comment on anything these past few months, chiefly because the council has left me without any adequate heating, apart from an electric fire that guzzled electric and doesn't give out any heat, 4 killowatts to be precise, so its like living on a park bench here, however social services are going to try and remedy the situation on medical grounds for me. All I've been trying to do all winter is just keep as warm as possible, hot water, bottles coats, etc.
Health wise, not so good, had a fall in November that kept me more or less housebound for several weeks, a few weeks ago I didn't know where to put myself because of pain in the left hand side of my groin, went to accident and emergency twice, turns out to be kidney stones. Friday night, I burnt my foot, on a hot water bottle in bed trying to keep warm, I can't imagine how I'd placed the hot water bottle at the foot of the bed, but having no sensations in my feet, I fell asleep and got some serious blisters around my toes, didn't realise just how bad the burns were till Monday morning and saw the swellings on my foot. Treatment room at the health center did my foot up, then Tuesday diabetic foot clinic to have it checked out thoroughly, the consultant was Welsh, had a very wry sense of humour, nice chap though. But its times like these you could do with some companionship and help though. That burn was the result of not being able to get adequately warm, and being able to sit in front of a nice warm fire, you go to bed chilled and you need instant heat hence two very hot water bottles.
Margery went to have a cornea graph, very successful, she can do her sudoku now, either I'm thick, quite likely, but I look at sudoku puzzles and my mind goes blank, haven't a clue. Margery also had an exploratory to find out what was causing a blockage of her bowel, I thin that must have caused her to have a colapse with bleeding from her bowels. She was rushed to hospital almost at deaths door, she was delirious for days, when I got to see her she was as usual turning the hospital ward into a holiday camp, anyway she has diverticular disease, polyps on her colon, that hemorage, every now and then.
Well I got a new computer, and a flat screen monitor instead of the CRT that made my pictures look ok to me but very light to everybody else, soon after I let Gillian, Margery's grandaughter, use facebook, she must have opened a photograph of someone she knew with a virus attached which hijacked my computer, the only way I could get rid of it was to reformat the disks and put a fresh operating system on, Windows Vista, ok its quick, but its finicky, doesn't like this, doesn't like that, had to download the drivers from the internet to get my Epson R200 printer to work, still haven't got my flatbed scanner to work with vista yet.
Then there was Photoshop Elements, absolutely refuses to load, had to get a Leica D lux 3 camera, to get a later version of Photoshop Elements. Felt I was getting left behind, not by technology, but the need to be able to have images I can upload to the computer within a short period from when I took them, I still like 35mm for serious work, but its nice also to share pictures without the waiting for the end of the film., well that's it for now, love you all Michael.
P.S. Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life, is a book I've been reading of late, if you can get hold of a copy, it is upbuilding for both individuals and the church too, if fellowship is loosing track of what Christianity is about, this is the book that should rebuild that Christ centeredness, and your own unique position within the body of believers, it would make an excellent group study book, as that is what it is meant to be, there are forty short chapters altogether, excellent reading.

Ruth Ann Bice

Summicron, I'm so sorry you and your wife have had so many difficulties. I'll definitely be praying about these problems. I don't know if you can find a way to get an electric mattress pad, but I can tell you that it's a great invention! My bedroom is very chilly, but that mattress pad certainly warms me. And, it must not use much electricity, since it only heats the area where weight is on it. (primarily, of course, my own body :) ) That was the present I requested at Christmas time.

Larry, I've seen notifications twice on my computer the last few days saying the computer was allotting more space by rearranging my memory (or something to that effect). Would you think I need to add more memory?

I know it's late, but my days n nights may have gotten a bit mixed up. In forgetting to take my a.m. meds, then sleeping until lunchtime, seem to have kept me from sleeping at a normal time tonight.

God's blessings be with us all.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Jane Walker

Michael, I am truly sorry to read of all that you and Margery have been going through this winter.  I am standing (kneeling) along with Ruth Ann in prayer for you both.  I certainly pray your social services will step up and help you get adequate heat and help.

Thank you, so much, for bringing your needs to us here so that we can unite in prayer for you.

God bless you.

Ruth Ann ... I often have those kind of nights -- sleepless, that is.  Probably because I seem to be cold here, too.  I don't have a lot of wood left, and the man who brought it to me told me he has no more and has lost his connection for getting any.  I'm trying to portion it out, little by little, for it to take me the rest of the way through this winter.  Hopefully Spring will arrive before long.   :-\

Gotta get stuff shut down here soon ... it's already Friday the 13th on Oregon's south coast.   :)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Al Moak

Father, I pray for Michael that he'll be able to get adequate heat, and for his wife that she'll be able to get help for the problems with the colon.

Jane - will you be able to find a source for wood before next winter?  Father, I pray You'll enable Jane to be adequately supplied with wood.  Oh Father - we depend upon You for everything!  In Your Son we have our needs supplied.

Etta Sue

My problem is I get too hot in the night and wake up, move around to find a cool spot in bed...which is sometimes hard to do with two cats on the bed also.

I had a rough night last night.  Kitty and I went for pizza for supper and they didn't have caffeine free Diet Coke.  I can't seem to drink water with pizza... ???  So I couldn't get to sleep until after 2am.

We had a great time at 60 Chix.  I thought there would be about 10 of us and we ended up with only 7.  But that is a nice bunch for talking.

I have my test stimulation surgery scheduled now.  I hadn't heard from the surgery scheduler and the receptionist at Noblesville told me if I hadn't heard anything by today to call the number she gave me for Laura.  I called and Laura didn't have any papers on me.  So she called me back and said surgery was scheduled for April 17 in the afternoon.  I wanted it done Monday....   :o last Monday...  :D  She will be sending me papers in the mail to tell me what time and when my Dr. appointment will be after the 'test'.  At least I am heading the right direction!

We are heading to Brown County for the Women's Retreat around 2pm.  I am taking my camera and trying to decide if I want to take my laptop.  If I take very many pictures I could edit them there but then we always seem to be so busy so probably wouldn't get any editing done after all.  What to do?   ::)

Good Morning, Just running through here  at the moment, I have read all the posts and will be praying for Michael and Margery shortly. I have a load of dark clothes in the dryer and  , now I am off to Tai Chi Practice, then on to Safeway to buy some coffee, (I'm out) . Back packing, walking the dogs and stop for a visit to see Willa.
