Morning Devotional...

(This is long but these 39 verses are worth reading and reminds us of what not to do)
Jesus:  Warnings and Grieving
Matthew 23:1-39 NLT

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples,  "The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses.  So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don't follow their example. For they don't practice what they teach.  They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden.

"Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra long tassels.  And they love to sit at the head table at banquets and in the seats of honor in the synagogues.  They love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces, and to be called 'Rabbi.'

"Don't let anyone call you 'Rabbi,' for you have only one teacher, and all of you are equal as brothers and sisters.  And don't address anyone here on earth as 'Father,' for only God in heaven is your spiritual Father.  And don't let anyone call you 'Teacher,' for you have only one teacher, the Messiah.  The greatest among you must be a servant.  But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

"What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you shut the door of the Kingdom of Heaven in people's faces. You won't go in yourselves, and you don't let others enter either.

"What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you cross land and sea to make one convert, and then you turn that person into twice the child of hell you yourselves are!

"Blind guides! What sorrow awaits you! For you say that it means nothing to swear 'by God's Temple,' but that it is binding to swear 'by the gold in the Temple.'  Blind fools! Which is more important—the gold or the Temple that makes the gold sacred?  And you say that to swear 'by the altar' is not binding, but to swear 'by the gifts on the altar' is binding.  How blind! For which is more important—the gift on the altar or the altar that makes the gift sacred?  When you swear 'by the altar,' you are swearing by it and by everything on it.  And when you swear 'by the Temple,' you are swearing by it and by God, who lives in it.  And when you swear 'by heaven,' you are swearing by the throne of God and by God, who sits on the throne.

"What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.  Blind guides! You strain your water so you won't accidentally swallow a gnat, but you swallow a camel!

"What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and self-indulgence!  You blind Pharisee! First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too.

"What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs—beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people's bones and all sorts of impurity.  Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness.

"What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you build tombs for the prophets your ancestors killed, and you decorate the monuments of the godly people your ancestors destroyed.  Then you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would never have joined them in killing the prophets.'

"But in saying that, you testify against yourselves that you are indeed the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.  Go ahead and finish what your ancestors started.  Snakes! Sons of vipers! How will you escape the judgment of hell?

"Therefore, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers of religious law. But you will kill some by crucifixion, and you will flog others with whips in your synagogues, chasing them from city to city.  As a result, you will be held responsible for the murder of all godly people of all time—from the murder of righteous Abel to the murder of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed in the Temple between the sanctuary and the altar.  I tell you the truth, this judgment will fall on this very generation.

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn't let me.  And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate.  For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, 'Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!'"

Jesus condemned the Pharisees and religious leaders for appearing saintly and holy but remaining full of corruption and greed on the inside.

Living our Christianity merely as a show for others is like washing a cup on the outside only.  When we are clean on the inside, our cleanliness on the outside won't be phony.

Not much going on here.  I just got through watching Extreme Makeover--Home Edition and the ACM Awards.  I like country music.  Sometimes I can understand what they are singing.   :idiot:

Both of the furgirls must be really hungry tonight.  I just fed both of them and now they are both on the desk in front of me waiting for more food.  Not tonight!!

Quite cool today in Indiana and tomorrow isn't to be much better.  The high is to only get to 61°.  Too cold for coffee and devotions on the deck in the sunshine.

Hi everyone.  We had an enjoyable Sunday with a good sermon and then a reception for our children's educational coordinator at the church for the last 5 years who has resigned but is staying at our church.

Then 6 of us went to lunch.  We tried to go one place but there was no parking and ended up a the Snellville Dinner.  Each couple shared a meal and there was plenty of food as the portions are very large.

We came home and rested and in the early evening watched the movie "Gracie", which was enjoyable if predictable but supposedly based on a true story.

We did have just a short rain shower last night and today is beautiful and is suppose to get up in the 80s.

This is the day I start my week of Jury Duty.  However, I don't have to be there until 12:15 this afternoon.  The housekeeper is coming this morning.

Etta Sue, thanks for that fine devotional.  Glad you are feeling better.

Marilyn, sorry to read that you had fallen again.  Hope you didn't do more damage.

Ruth Ann, glad you had a safe trip this weekend.

Good Morning. Hey Pat just a few more days and you will no longer be single. Are you ready for the big day???????????

I went back to Curves  to exercise this morning, however I find that I am still  fairly sore  during certain movements so I  am avoiding those machines and those movements. Which are any that put pressure on that side, reaching across, up high, leaning on  my right hand to raise  myself up, pulling open the doors ( both front and back stick and I have to pull real hard to open them). So I will be taking it easy until I get  better.

I am also taking my time getting ready for my trip on Thursday so I don't forget anything or take too much. This one is only for 4 days. I still have to think about what to take on  our vacation next month, since I haven't been on a vacation is about 25 years. Wow that is sure a long time!!

Good Morning Brothers and sisters.....God is so great!
Etta I love the scripture for this week.  I teach our youth at our Church as well as being an Elder, and I realize just in my own heart how important it is to be doing this work for God.  Not for a recognition perspective, but to an accountability perspective.  We as teachers of the word whether it is in Church, or even in our home, or the street corner, have a responsibility to be as accurate in our teaching as possible. We do not desire to be like the Pharisees, Scribes, or Saducee's, yet when we do not live what we teach, we are most certainly like them.
Now for the good, what a pleasure it is to see the soul of a babe in Christ come to understanding of the word of God, and how fantastic it is to see a need met because they understood a principle that was explained to them from God's word....
Yes it is a big responsibility, and yet so fullfilling, our God is an Awesome God, what a joy it is to serve him....I pray that everyone is doing well....

Hello---worked too hard again today.  :-[ :-\  I know, Larry, I am doing a lot of thinking about just what you said.  It has to be my decision how much and how hard I work.  But just now, Darrel and I are doing a lot of work getting ready for reunion.  I do think I see a little glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.   But right now I feel like I have been doing this  :tiredtread: for a month!  Work at the job again tomorrow.........

Etta Sue, excellent devotional.

Pat, I'm thinking about you!  This coming Saturday, right?  I'll bet you are feeling like this-- :excited:

I'm going to bed, even though it is only 7:00.  I will read for a while.

:)    Good evening to all .  Thanks Etta Sue for your devotional it was very powerful.  Again it was good to read the post's and hope that all the rest of C.P. group are doing well.

Today we had a very cool day and my wife and I went and picked up a new tree for our back yard.  We had a credit note as our first tree died so we hope that this one will do o.k. the nursery that we picked it up at was so busy but we almost got blowen away the wind was so strong.

After that we had some good warm tea then we went to see the lilic garden in the Niagara falls area which has 365 trees and was a gift to Canada.  The different colours were beautiful and they also have roedidendum bushes which are also beautiful but they have a hard time surviving in Canada due to the cold weather.  Just beside this they have the floral clock that is a copy of the famous one in Scotland in the Princess st. gardens in Edinburgh I believe it has over 21,000 plants in it and this is done by the Niagara Parks Commision who looks after all the grounds along the Canadian side of the Niagara river all the way from Fort Erie to Niagara on The Lake it is a beautiful drive and to see all the flowers also.

Well hope that you all have a wonderful week and may the Lord Bless each one of you this week.

James 1-5                 Good night to all.  Gord. :coffee:

Good morning, CP people.  We had some rain overnight, and i see a slight breeze out the window.  A couple days of maybe rain, and then back to nice weather again, only not so hot.  Perfect for traveling, Marilyn.

Wordsculpter, I believe many here are in hectic mode about now.   I know with the nicer weather, I tend to be outdoors pulling up a weed or planting a flower.  Less computer time.  I hope your hectic is a good hectic.

Gord, I think seeing a garden of lilacs would be so beautiful, not to mention a treat for the smeller.  :)

Larry, what is Gracie about?  It sounds familiar, but can't remember now.  I might want to see it if I haven't already.

I'm about ready to get dressed and head to town to pick up some groceries, go to Walmart and see if they have the digital boxes in.  I called once, and they didn't have any left.  I'll get one, even though I sure get tired of tv sometimes.  I think I just want to chuck it out the window and have only books and music. lol  Sometimes I turn it off, and didn't even realize how obtrusive and loud it is until I experience the silence.  I guess I just need to turn it off more.  I can do that now that Angel and the baby aren't living here.

Have a blessed day everyone.  Nita

Good afternoon.  Busy morning doing little things to tidy up the house a little.  This afternoon is Euchre Club at Ivalou's so I don't have far to go...just 70 steps east!!

I spent last evening making a slide show on PhotoBucket of our 45th Class Reunion attendees that was almost three years ago.  I made CD's of a movie I made but didn't copy it for everyone.  So I sent the link to the ones I have email for that didn't receive a CD.  I have already received one thank you!

Hi everyone.  I have spent the day at the court house and was selected to serve on a jury early this afternoon.  The judge told us he expects the case to be given to the jury to decide around noon tomorrow so hopefully we can have a finding and be done with the case.  Then there is a good possibility we would be released for the rest of the week. Fortunately the witnesses scheduled for today finished around 3:30 and the judge dismissed us for the day.  Serving on a jury is an interesting experience.  Of course, I can't discuss the case with anyone until it is over.

I came home and rested for an hour but am sure I will retire early tonight as still feel pretty tired.  I have to be back in the jury assembly room by 9 am in the morning but will go earlier to be sure I can find a place to park.  Fortunately both yesterday and today I was able to find a handicapped spot in front of the courthouse so didn't have to walk too far.

Nita, the movie "Gracie" is apparently based on the early life of actress Elisabeth Shue and dealt with her wanting to be allowed to play soccer with the boys at her school.  It was really a pretty good movie.

And I, for one, am looking forward to Paul & Pat being HAPPY!

What is Pat's new last name going to be? If she told us I don't remember. Must be gettin' old like Al or something like that.

Not much is new here today. Overcast, drizzle, sun trying so hear to come through and not quite making it.

I am getting things ready for me to be gone for 5 days. making sure there is enough dog food out for Bill to feed my fur kids. had a long talk with the dogs told them to behave themselves and to watch  the house, sorted through my  backpack and removed some extra stuff that I don't think I will need. Looks like I can get it all in my small backpack except for my  tennis shoes, they will go in a plastic bag.

Pat

I was at a monthly meeting this morning which is now the normal thing it was about busing but the safety part is really good for all drivers - the importance of intersection safety.

Pat - Tereasa Colosamo (Sp)  asked about you and has extended here congratulations and best wishes in your up coming marriage.

As for our home we have sorrow but happier times are ahead.

Hi everyone.  I will post briefly before leaving for the day as am expecting a pretty full day.  I think I will be at the court most of the day and then this evening we have choir practice.  I am going to a brief time of coffee with the guys at McDonald's this morning.  We have decided to go to McDonald's on Wednesdays.  The lady a the cafe asked me why so I told her that often the heat in the cafe is very uncomfortable for several of our members and they wanted a break by going somewhere else.

Ruth, sorry to read that you are experiencing sadness within your family circle.

Marilyn, you are becoming quite the traveler.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Good to see everyone posting.

Unlike Pat, not much going on today.  Bet Pat is running around in a tizzy.  I, too, am so happy for Pat and Paul and may they have many years of making each other happier.

It is bright and sunny here today but cold.  Only 56°.  May has been very cold here.  I keep looking up at my Tulip Poplar Tree and I don't see blooms yet.  It is suppose to bloom the third week in May!!

I am thinking that reading my book this afternoon is a good idea.

Larry, I served on a jury when I was 18 years old--couldn't even vote yet!  (Back in the old days.  ;))  The case was Grand Larceny; I don't think I would like being on the jury and hearing the gruesome details of some crimes, for sure.

Marilyn, aren't you driving?  I find I pack more "generously" when we are taking the car, than when flying.  For sure will have to now that some airlines are charging $15 for the first checked bag and $25 for the second.

Hey, Scotty!  Good to see you popping in!

Etta Sue, maybe your tulip tree doesn't like its petals getting chilled, so is keeping them in and waiting for warmer weather!

The wind was awful here today. >:(  Yuck.

I worked yesterday and today, now I have five days off in a row!

Ruth, so sorry to hear you are having sad times just now.  Remember, you do have friends here who are happy to pray for/with you.

I'm working on some framing, need to go put another corner in the vise.

My life now is keeping the house really tidy and clean and getting out for several hours per day, sometimes twice.  Lots of traffic - no offers, several 2 Time showings.  Nothing is getting finished around here.

Hi, friends, a hectic week at work, so when our email connection was down all day and I had done all I could do by 3:30, then I figured I'd just leave - especially since I'd already worked 8 hours today.  ^-^

I, too, wish Pat and Paul a most wonderfully happy beginning to their new life together.

Yes Janet I am driving but I prefer to  pack light and not take anything that I don't need or won't use. I can get everything I need into my backpack and a grocery bag for my shoes. O don't need a full change of clothes for each day, just the essentials that get changed everyday.

Pat must be real busy  with only two more days until her wedding.

Ruth I am sorry to hear that you are having some sadness in your home,  We here at CP love you and will pray for/with  you anytime.

Ruth Ann I know you will be glad for the long weekend to just relax and take it easy.

My ribs are getting better I was hurting a lot all morning so took a couple of Aleve's before I went to have my nails done. So i am not hurting at present.

Talk to ya in the morning before I leave and will try to get on the Internet from Keith's house  over the next few days to catch up.

Hi everyone.  I was right yesterday morning when I posted that the day would be very tiring and long.  I got to the court about 8:30.  They finished the testimony about 11 am and the judge gave us until 1:30 to be back.  He also ordered that the court would pay for our lunch since we were basically at the deliberation point.  However, when 1:30 came they told us there would be a 20 minute delay.  Finally we were taken to the jury deliberation room to wait and shortly they said there was another delay.  About 2:30 the trial resumed with closing arguments and instructions from the judge and at 3:30 we got the case to decide.  It took about 90 minutes for the jury to come to total agreement.  It then took another hour in the courtroom to give the verdict and for the judge to sentence based on our verdict.

The case involved attempted home burglary, two peeping tom charges, which were dropped before we had to decide as the State introduced no evidence beyond the man had been seen trying to open a window at 6:30 on a Sunday morning in a place he had no business being.  The final charge was a drug possession charge, which was a slam dunk.  We did have trouble getting a unanimous verdict on the 1st count of attempted burglary as opposed to criminal tresspass.  However, we came to the decision it was attempted burglary.  During sentencing it came out that this man had a previous record and had served time for burglary.  He was sentenced to 8 years probation and to serve 17 months in a county prison work program.  He was also fined and will be required to have drug testing and counseling.  The case was finally over about 6 pm.

I then rushed home and we had dinner and then I went to choir practice, where I was the only man in attendance with 7 women and the director.  Needless to say I wasn't up long after I got home as I ached all over and was exhausted.  Today should be a quiet day although I am going to call and see if I can get my Hyundai in to have the timing belt changed since I didn't have to report back to court this morning.

Marilyn, you are wise to pack lightly.  We usually load up our car and then don't use some of the stuff we take with us.  Hope you have good driving weather.

Ruth Ann, I should think 8 hours would be enough work for one day.  How much longer do you have before that big retirement day?
Hope you have a quieter rest of the week.

Carol, you are fortunate to have lookers because you certainly won't sell it if you aren't having people look at the home and it only takes that one willing buyer.  However, I sure understand your concern that it isn't selling and the right buyer won't be among the lookers.  Expect good things to happen.  I know you all have been through this experience before.

Janet, glad to see you have 5 days off from your work and do hope you will find time during these days to have some down time just for yourself.  We can never recapture today.

Etta Sue, it won't be long until it will be hot up your way.  Speaking of being cold I thought I was going to freeze in the jury waiting room as it was always cold in there.

Our schools were out for the summer yesterday so there should be much less traffic for awhile.  Speaking of schools I heard them say on the radio  this week that our county, Gwinnett, has the largest school system in the nation.  I know the budge for the school system is now around $1.9 billion dollars a year.

Hope it is a great day for everyone.

Larry, Janet and Ruthann I expect all y-all to get rested up over this long weekend. everyone enjoy time with family and a time of rest also.

Pat and Paul congratulations on your wedding day if I don't get back in here before Saturday.

Carol I hope this weekend brings just the right looker to be so impressed with the location and condition of the house that they will make the decision to buy right then and there.

Ruth I pray that everything at your place  is getting much better.

Take it easy and stay out of the cold. It is cold here this morning, I hope I am taking   the right clothes on my trip for the weather there is the same as here.

I just checked the Tulip Poplar tree...no blooms yet but I can see where they are going to be.  Perhaps this weekend they will 'pop' since it is to be in the 80's Race Day....Indy 500 Race Day.

I heard that Kristy Yamaguchi is going to say 'Lady(ies) & Gentlemen!  Start your engines' at the track Sunday.

Ivalou and I are going to Anderson for Chinese.  I haven't had Chinese for soooo long.  Sounds so good and this buffet is my favorite.

Nice and warm today.  Not really but warmer.

Good afternoon.   I am home from work and in a few sort minutes I will be getting supper ready.  Thanks for your concern and prayers, about our situation God knows what happened but what is left is for our emotional healing which usually takes time.

We have been having a lot of cold days but the sun did come out this afternoon and I understand it will continue for several days.

Well, Marbeth and I just had a short time of prayer.  It's actually really something that concerns us all - this "Economic Stimulus Payment."  We received a notice that we'll be getting it any day now. (Why did our dear govt. have to notify us that it's coming?  So they could spend money on the  mailing, of course)  Anyway, we prayed for wisdom and discernment to know what to do with it.  May our God give us all grace for this.  It's a foolish thing our govt. is doing, but we're going to receive it anyway, so may He give us grace to deal with it.

Al, I sure agree, it is foolish and useless, but many (well all, probably) will enjoy the money.  We haven't even discussed where ours may go--into savings, likely.

I finally got a few hours' sleep last night without a pill.  I do NOT want t get addicted to sleeping pills!  I injured my right hand rather badly this morning.  It has been giving me a lot of pain, anyway, and I have an appointment next week with my hand surgeon, Dr. Rane.  Anyway, I was cleaning the stove in the back kitchen, had the top of it propped up on a Windex bottle (bad idea!) and it slipped.  The top fell on my hand, cutting it across the back of the hand and bruising it badly.  It hurt like thunder!  I wanted to cry,  :'( but that's not my style.  Darrel was having a crisis of his own, as when he went to hook the gas back up to the stove, the gas line broke inside the wall, and gas was escaping fast.  He was frantically trying to get that stopped and repair the pipe.  When he got it done, I showed him my hand, and he told me I'd better go sit down a while.  It made me sick to my stomach and gave me a headache.  When we went to the Senior center, I went in and saw the nurses, who put more peroxide on it, put steri-strips across the cut, then bandaged it, and sent me next door to the county health dept. for a tetanus shot.  That was $29 as Medicare doesn't pay it.

This afternoon my painting class came, and we had a good afternoon.  I also did laundry, changed sheets out at Beth's trailer and did more cleaning.  I would like to have all, or nearly all the work done before my painting class in Fowler the first week of June.

Today was the last day of school here in our town.  I wonder who is happier, the kids or the teachers?  Probably the teachers!

I hope to make a much more cheerful  :) :D ;D 8) post tomorrow!

I don't have to think about what I'm doing with my stimulus check.  All $300 will go on a stove oil delivery.  With summer coming, that will last me till next winter. And I am truly blessed by the timing.  I looked at the IRS site, and found out, as I didn't do an auto deposit, and by the last two numbers on my SS, mine won't be sent out until early July.

Yes, we're all thinking of PAT and PAUL and their upcoming marriage. :)

Janet, owie, owie, owie.  I remember I had a window slam on my hand and I couldn't get it open again.  I finally did, but it sure did hurt.

Windy and heavy mist all day.  I just heard it's 54 here now.  This kind of weather makes me sleepy.  I took a nice nap in my chair earlier.  Got woke up by the phone, as usually happens. lol

Ruth, I don't know what's going on in your life, but God does.  I'm praying for healing and comfort as others are doing the same.  Bless your heart.

I just had a phone call that one of our pastors (we have two) had a lot of damage from the series of tornadoes that came through this area.  We will go and do what we can to help clean tomorrow & we also have a showing between 3 to 4 PM here at our house.  We have to bring any charged tools, hammers, tarps & Don wants to bring his tall ladder.  Any cleaning supplies - I will see what we can put together.  The highway in there is open now.

Would appreciate any prayers for safety for everyone.

Nita:  It is good that you can use the money to stay warm as the costs of everything keep going up.

Marilyn:  We do know the right person will come along.  Tuesday, we leave for fishing in northern Minnesota for ten days.  It has been Don's dream to go to the lake where his dad took him as a boy and I told him to make it happen this year and guess what?  He decided to put the house up for sale before the fishing dates.  Guess what again - the ice is just coming off the lake. I will freeze.  I hope that you are mending.  Take care.

Hi Pat!!!!!! :)

Well, I got to leave work again a bit early, so visited a friend who just had a knee replacement. Then came home and fixed a stir fry and used oriental flavorings with it. Yummy!

After that came some time to rest, and now's time to enjoy the internet a few moments.

There will practically be no one working tomorrow, so it should be a quiet day. Only problem is that since the email system was broken all day today and all day yesterday, if they get it repaired overnight, I should have a several hours session with taking care of all the requests and sending messages. :)

Then, the kids from Atlanta are coming to Nashville to spend the weekend, and someone put 1/2 off coupons for a nice water park, so likely we'll use them either on Saturday or Monday.

Y'all have a good evening.

Wednesday it was a very large retirement party for all the retiree's from the Toronto Transit Commission company and the old Gray Coach bus Lines which is put on every year by the company and the Amalgamated Transit Union so it is nice to be able to go and see many old buddies that you worked with.  So it has been very busy this week.

Please Pray for me as I have the privilage to be at Paul and Pats wedding and also singing at it so I value your Prayers that I will do a good job.

WE ARE HAVING PUPPIES!!!  WE ARE HAVING PUPPIES!!

At last report there were 3, and Pat they all have Gyp colouring...... so far.

The weather is cool and damp and uggg, I wish it would warm up some.  I have grass to cut, and I don't relish cutting grass in a winter jacket!  I will maybe be able to do it this afternoon.

John won't be home till about 10:00 pm, so we won't be heading south to Guelph till the morning.  I will head to bed early and get some rest so we can leave really early, perhaps spend a bit of time with Pat, having a cup of tea, before the wedding.  I am disappointed, but what can you say.

I have to go.  I am not on CP as often as I would like, time and lack of a computer is the problem.  I am praying for the needs represented here.

Hi everyone.  A lot of news in the postings since I was here yesterday.  Nothing new down this way other than I am still struggling to get decent telephone service.  Yesterday I unplugged all the TV satellite receivers and disconnected the antenna from the house--no change.  I then unplugged my garage door openers--no change.  My friend suggested one last thing to try today and that is to have Pat get on the land line with a call and I will turn off the breakers one by one to see if there is a circuit that is causing the problem.  It that yields no results then I will consider going to VOIP again for the phones.

Janet, sure sorry to hear of the accident with your hand.  Don't we feel foolish when we have done something unsafe and then there is an incident.  Hope the damage isn't too serious.

Carol, I was thinking about you when I heard of the storms yesterday as I initially heard they had struck Denver.  However, when I heard Windsor and Greeley I felt you all were probably OK.  Sorry that your pastor had the damage and it is great that you both are going to try to do what you can.  Hope you have a great fishing trip.  It sounds like a cold time to be up north.

Judy, there are fewer things cuter than new born puppies.  I hope they all survive.

Gord, glad you were able to attend the game and are going to be a part of the wedding party on Saturday.

Ruth Ann, sounds like you have a busy, but fun, weekend ahead of you.

Nita and Al, I received my stimulus check a couple of weeks ago and it went into savings.  However, I think some of it will have to be used to get my car back in top shape.  Al, I agree this is really a tiny bandaid and doesn't address the problem.  However, I am sure it will come in handy for many just as you indicate Nita.

Ruth, how many more days of school do you all have?  Our schools got out on Wednesday and others in the area are finishing this week.

Etta Sue, I haven't wanted Chinese food since having such bad food the last time I went to one.  At least I didn't get sick.

Marilyn, I guess you are at your destination by this time.  Have a nice weekend.

We have 8 border spaniels, and as one person said, cross breeds are now called designer dogs...I guess we have created a new breed.  Border Spaniels.

Woohoo!!!  8 puppies!  As much as JC and Kimi would like to see them, I am not sure I want them to, considering how quickly they get attached to newborn animal ... LOL

Aunt Pat, I won't be able to get to Guelph tomorrow, I was hoping that I would be able to come down for the wedding but our van is not on the road yet so I have no way of getting there.  With mom and dad coming down and spending some time with you, it isn't possible for me to come along.  Please know that you and Paul are both in my prayers and I trust that you will be blessed with a beautiful day tomorrow.

Gord, I am thrilled to hear that you will be singing at the wedding!  What a blessing for Aunt Pat and Paul!  I will be praying for you also tomorrow.

Mom and dad, drive safe!

I know that I don't get in here and reply too often but please know that the prayer concerns that are shared here are also faithfully being prayed for by me.

God bless you all,
Heather

Not many hours now until May 24th!!  It is also my local friend Pat's birthday, and I have yet to decide on a gift for her.......

My hand is not giving me pain today, except when it is touched on the back.  The nurse took off the outer bandage and looked at it, said it looks good.  It is colored a nice greenish hue.  ;)

We got the leak in the upstairs shower repaired today, so now our guests can shower without it raining in my closet below!  What a relief to have that done!  We also hung more cabinet doors, did more cleaning, etc. etc, etc.  :-\

Kansas is being hammered with tornadoes and heavy rain.  There is a huge swath, from Colorado, Nebraska, all across the west side to the center of Kansas, and on down into Oklahoma.  Last night, there were 29 tornadoes in Kansas alone.  Thank God, our little corner of the state is in the clear again.

We must take flowers to the cemetery for Darrel's relatives' graves in the morning, as I have to work on Monday.  His mom and sister aren't able to drive up and take care of it, and it isn't necessary anyway, since we are right here.

Carol, have fun fishing, and don't freeze!  Hope the right person comes along soon to buy your house!

My thoughts and prayers are with all in the wedding party. Much love surely will be surrounding all of you there in the church and as you celebrate this new union.

It's good to hear from each person. Heather, sorry you won't be able to make it to the wedding.

Gord, it's such a blessing to know you'll be participating in the wedding, too. Do good!

Janet, I'm thankful you're getting the things taken care of, but also concerned that y'all are really working extremely hard.

Marilyn, enjoy your weekend in Oregon. :)

As for me, I worked at a steady pace today, and was so pleased to get a phone call saying our unit got to leave at 3 pm. How nice it was to come home, take a leisurely shower and have my cell phone ring while I was still "wet." So, soon's I got the towel around me, I returned the call and the kids from Atlanta are already here.

We met at the Olive Garden and had a nice dinner together. I'm not certain if I'll go out to meet them at the lake tomorrow or wait until Sunday afternoon.

And, Shelby has their little doggie (C.J. by name, mutt by breed) as a houseguest this weekend. :D

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Good morning everyone on this special day of wedding celebration for Pat and Paul.  It was such a joy to have them visit with us a few weeks ago and to see how much they cared for each other.  The Lord has truly brought two wonderful people together and I wish them both the greatest happiness in the years ahead.

We finally got our telephone problems resolved late yesterday afternoon.  I had to get it done by a round about way but got the DSL repairman out to check on the outside of the house as the problems became evident right after I last upgraded the service.  It turns out there were defective "cards" in the central box for our line that was causing the distortion on the line.  It took him a couple of hours but he finally got us situated and the line is clear.  What a relief.  I was about at my wits end thinking it was a problem here at our house since the telephone company had assured me they had checked the line and all was well--it wasn't.

We have no special plans for this weekend.  I think it will be a quiet and restful weekend.

Janet, glad that things are coming together and some needed repairs have been accomplished.  Glad your hand doesn't seem to be seriously damaged and the discoloration will soon fade away.  You were certainly in my thoughts when I heard of all the tornadoes coming into  Kansas.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like your family is all set for a very enjoyable weekend.  I know you will enjoy seeing your grandchildren as well as the rest of the family.

Heather, nice the see your posting.  Sorry you weren't able to attend the wedding but you can be there in your thoughts and prayers today.

Judy, that is quite a litter.  Are they all healthy.  Hope you and John have a good safe trip to Guelph this weekend.

Etta Sue, it is taking the Treasury Department quite awhile to get all of the stimulus checks mailed.  It sounds like next week should be the week.  Now you can spend the weekend thinking about how you are going to spend it and stimulate the economy.  :)

Marilyn, we used to have a Safeway store close to where I grew up but they haven't been in any areas where I have lived for a long time.  We also had A&P stores and I used to love to go there with my grandmother as the smell of the ground coffee was wonderful.  Those stores are also long gone from the midwest.

I have been so busy today that I just thought of the newlyweds.  Congratulations, Pat and Paul!!

Tony came this morning and the mower is back to working once again.  Two new tires, oil changed, oil filter changed, greased, two new belts.  Deck welded. New mower.  The wireless remote keypad on my little garage door quit working.  I put in a new battery.  Still didn't work.  So I got out the instructions.  Re-set it.  Still didnt work.  Then noticed that after re-setting, I needed to re-program.  Still didn't work.  Tony said he had to do something on the motor of of the garage door opener.  Read about that.  He pushed a button on it while I pushed buttons on the keypad.  Works!!!  Something hiccupped!

Tony trimmed my trees while I picked up the limbs and put them in my cart.  I asked Tony if he had time for lunch at Woody's.  So we ate at Woody's.  Then I got some $$ at the bank.  Then gas in the car and lawnmower gas containers...$58!!!

Tony left when we got back here.  I mowed.  Swept out the garage real good.  Took the limbs back to the woods.  Aired off the mower.  And now enjoying a glass of iced tea!!

Bet I sleep good tonight!!

Good evening everyone.  The wedding was a wonderful family affair.  Pat looked lovely as did Paul.  The  gospel was preached and the singing was wonderful.  Paul's grandchildren sand The Bible Stands.  My what a wonderful message that was.

I have a 4.5 hour trip ahead of me, John is really tired, and I am driving.  The sooner home the better.

God Bless you all.  Pat and Paul, when you read this I pray the rest of your weekend is as wonderful as today has been.  God bless you both.

How can I complain about keeping up a house for sale when my neighbors about a 15 min. drive usually have such tornado devastation?  The house we worked on lost the entire east side of the 2nd. story and a huge window area was blown out on the west side as well.  Almost every window broken, insulation throughout the place looked like cotton balls, mud inside splattered over every single thing.  Branches came through the ceiling all the way to the main level.  The pastor's wife barely made it to the basement with the elderly black lab and cats.  A gerbil is missing.  Their new garage was flattened while the old shed still stands.  If there were no basements, there would have been many more fatalities - one fatality.

People started to go to work immediately - they helped each other so much.  7-11 had a sign for free milk.  There was so much help that it was  a heartwarming thing to see and read about.  Very rare storm that tracked to the northwest and so many didn't have warnings.  Don helped by taking the siding from the destroyed garage and cutting pieces to fit over holes in the house - taking nails out and so forth and he and a friend did the very same thing when they worked on the hurricane damaged home in Texas.  I swept glass for several hours and still so much left on the ground and all over - then had to pet the darling old black lab as he was needing friendship too.

Janet:  Do you have a basement to go to in case of a storm?  A wind-up emergency radio?

Hi everyone on a beautiful Georgia morning.

I have enjoyed reading the first person accounts from the big wedding yesterday.  I hope there were lots of pictures taken.

Judy, hope you and John have a wonderful trip home today although it sounds like you may have made that trip home last evening.

Gord, I would have loved to hear you sing as well as Paul's grandchildren.  He was telling me about their singing when he was here.

Carol, I have never experienced tornado damage up close.  Having grown up in the midwest, and my father was an insurance agent, I was certainly aware of tornados and saw some of the damage but one never struck where we were.  We had a cellar and on occasion mother would get us into the cellar.  Unfortunately, where we live now we have neither a basement or a safe room.  I really wonder why safe rooms aren't built in new homes but sure it is the extra cost the builders don't want to add to the price of their homes.  Most homes now have large walk-in closets that would appear someplace that could easily be reinforced to give you a place to go.  My hindsight is better than my foresight or I might have had that done in this home.

Ruth, you appear so right about the phone company.  I think we finally have the problem fixed and didn't realize how annoying it has been for quite a long time until it isn't there anymore.

Al, I am like you in that Etta Sue's busy day just about left me breathless.  :)  Seriously, Etta Sue isn't it wonderful to have a son who is handy in fixing things.  I have a son like that but unfortunately he has moved away from me so it isn't a matter of picking up the phone and asking for a little help.  We usually had a little list of things when he visited and he always seemed glad to help out.  Wonder if my little lists had anything to do with him moving 2 1/2 hours away??  :)

We are attending church this morning and then will drive down to spend a couple of hours with our daughter.  We will get something to take in for lunch so she can stay off her sprained ankle.  I am going to do some computer maintenance for her and Pat will help her catch up on her washing.  She has about five steps at the end of her hallway to get to where she can access the elevator and it is hard to be on crutches and handle loads of laundry.  Since she doesn't have to work tomorrow she will have had about 3 days to rest her ankle.  She did manage to get to work on Friday but had missed the previous 2 days.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  Again, congratulations Pat and Paul.

Well, about 3 hours and then we go to church.  Our Pastor has been expounding Galatians.  I'm a firm believer in exposition, as I think our Lord's people need nothing more than they need growing understanding of God's Word.  Whenever our pastor is absent, we have about four others who can preach.  I haven't personally preached now for many months.  Whenever the subject comes up in staff meetings, I shrink back into my corner to see if someone else will do it!

May our God bless all of you who attend His Worship today!

The weather here at the moment is clear, and the sun is just rising to shine on the row of cedars across from me (beautiful).

Congratulations to the happy couple...Pat and Paul!!

Well, the saga of the garage door wasn't over.  This morning I couldn't use the remote in the house to open the door.  So I used the keypad outside the little door.  I backed the car out and the remote in the car wouldn't shut it.  So had to get out and use the keypad.  I needed to re-program both remotes.  I can do that.

So when I got home, I changed, got the manual, remote and philips screw driver.  I opened the garage door and then shut it and disengaged the opener with the red rope.  I got the ladder and up on the second step.  I took out two screws but the cover on the power head wouldn't come off.  I felt above and there were two more screws.  But I had to go up another step and my legs wouldn't do it.  So I called Kaye Don.  In five minutes we had both remotes and the keypad all working.  All is good and well now.  Nice having a brother living next to next door.

My SIL just invited me for a cook out back in the woods at 5pm.  Sounds like fun!

The only place in the world that the Indy 500 isn't televised is in Indiana.  So listening to the race on the radio.

I have been so busy I haven't been in here since Friday!

But I surely was thinking of our Pat and Paul, and happy to read the accounts of their wedding.  They each deserve a loving mate to share heir lives with, as God intends.  May every blessing be theirs!

Carol--no, we do not have a basement!  Well, our big house does, if we have enough warning, we could run up there and get in that basement.  Tornadoes are so devastating, and so unpredictable!  It's great of you and Don to work helping out your neighbors.  You surely will have extra stars in your crowns!

I agree about the phone company never being wrong!  In our experience, whenever one of our alarm customers has the phone company come to do anything, they usually unhook the alarm line (not theirs so they don't know what it is or don't care) and then Darrel has to make a service call to hook it back up.  >:(  Aggravating.

We went to our daughter's last night, as Curtis was home, with Toni and baby Alexis. The baby is already crawling and pulling up--how fast they grow!  Anyway, Jeff's almost 103 years old grandma had invited them to supper.  She does the roast and the dessert, Diane does the rest.  Anyway, Diane asked me to come cook the other dishes as they are so swamped in the greenhouse and store this time of year, and Grandma always welcomes us a part of the family.  We had a nice time and got some great hugs from grandson Curtis.  Mark wasn't there, as he was moving into an apartment and working at his new job as a cabinet maker.

I have to work Monday and Tuesday, hope my hand will be all right.  I'm supposed to keep it out of water, so that will be a challenge, even using gloves.  I traded one shift with my sister so I can have Saturday off to help Pat with her garage sale.  I will take some items too, but not too much as I don't want to have to bring it back home!

I plan to post the new Thoughts soon as I'm working tomorrow.

HELP, PLEASE!  With our new software, I don't seem to know how to make the link.  :-[  :-\  The new Thoughts is ready and already moved to the Thoughts area, so if someone can make the link, I will be so grateful.  Sorry to be so computer illiterate, just not my thing, I guess.  :(
