Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Hi, friends,

It seems lately that "I don't DO mornings!" However, the afternoon hours were busy with taking a new friend to the doctor and grocery store, then picking up meds for both me and my son at two different pharmacies.

It was certainly good to come home to leftovers that could be warmed up.

May God bless and guide each of us.

Ruth An i am not a morning person either.  I understand

It is late.  We are heading to bed.  John is considerably better today and has stayed with a light diet but there has been no problem with it.

Elizabeth is feeling better.  Pulling full classes, and not having a problem with it.  She may have been just overtired.  She pulled a couple of really late nights.

Kass so far has dodged any symptoms of the flu....BUT she has been on antibiotics which may have stopped anything starting.

Well night all

JohnB

Hi All Just a quick post before turning in for the night. I understand what you mean about the corn in Nebraska Al. When I drive out in that area in the summer the corn is so high I can't see over it from the drivers seat. That is significant as few people probably realize that in a big truck the drivers eyes are 7 to 8 feet above the pavement depending on where one adjusts the air in the seat. That gives a little perspective to the height of the corn in that area. Also when you travel the Midwest before the crops attain full height one feels pretty insignificant due to the vastness of the geography. Well Night all Talk tomorrow. Blessings Bonesy

It's soooooo nice to see you posting, John!

So happy you got the garden in.  The rain here today will sure help my strawberries and garlic and rhubarb.  Not putting in any other stuff this year.

Time for us to hit the hay as well.

Nice to see you, Ruth Ann.

Time for us to have another chat.  Maybe we'll do that next week?

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am here early before going to coffee.  My calendar is clear today so will work on some of my continuing projects and just have a laid back day.

We had a nice group out for choir practice.  The director had selected 4 new pieces for us to add to our folders for use after our July summer break.  We have done all 4 in the past but it has been several years.  However, they quickly came back into our minds and shouldn't be difficult to get ready.

Having grown up on a farm I certainly appreciate what is involved in a farmer's life.  I knew it wasn't for me and have never looked back.  We not only raised crops but also ran a dairy farm, which involved doing chores twice a day 365 days of the year.

Glad to read that foks are feeling better now.

JohnB

Hi Folks Just a quick note before I start my day. have a few thinks to do today, mostly fixing some flat tires on equipment.

Larry I appreciate your thoughts about the farming thing. Yes it is certainly a 7 day a week job particularly if there is livestock involved in the operation. Been there done that as a kid myself and now have gone from one 7 day operation business to another one which is the trucking business. With this economy that we are in things get pretty tough at times and one needs to go when there's work to be done and relax when its slow. I fortunately work for a company that is financially stable as they have their fingers in many pies so to speak.

Pat its good to post and make contact with some of the old friends, Just wish I could meet some of them personally and sit have a cup of coffee with them and get to know one another a little better. Maybe if all goes well I can make that a retirement project. That's only 4 years away now. My how time flies. At this juncture in time it doesn't seem possible to find the time for retirement.

Oh well we take one day at a time. Well got to go for now.

Blessings to you all and remember that in all we do and say, we are the light on earth for our Lord that the unsaved world judges our actions by. By for now. Bonesy.

John, do your routes ever take you into northern New York State in the Lake George/Saratoga Springs area?  If they do, I'd love to have you stop by and share a cup or two of coffee with me sometime.  My back door neighbor is also a long-distance trucker and if he's around you could probably swap some interesting tales.  :D

JudyB

Jeanne occasionally he is in your area. It has been about a year since he has been there.  He has met with Ruth Ann once but hasn't been close enough for another coffee chat.  His main area of travel is around the Great Lakes.  Yes truck drivers are like fishermen...Lots of tall tales.

We have more rain.  A nice gentle rain.  When we planted the garden we separated some strawberry plants, and I wasn't sure they would survive.  Well last night we were in the garden and all the plants were standing up.  Only one problem with rain.....I can't get out to mow and the grass is getting long.

Today will be a lazy day.  A bit of inside work to do.  We are going to be moving rooms around.  I am starting preparing for that now.  I will tell you more as we start the renovations.

Have a good day everyone!

Jeanne Lee

Judy, it sounds as though you've got yourself set up for a major occupation.   :o  I have a couple of rooms I'd like to switch but somehow I don't think it's going to happen.   ;)

Do you ever share the drive with John?  That would really be wonderful if you were both in this area and we could get together.

We used to team drive from Kitchener to CA every week.  We had so much fun.  Pat and I have a cousin in Garden Grove, CA, and we became good friends.  We never went much farther north of San Fran.

John was just looking at his map and he went by your area about a month and a half ago.  He was going from Albany to Montreal.  So yes he is in your area at times.  He stayed in Wilton that night, there is a truck stop there!

A beautiful morning here on the island.  I have enjoyed reading all the posts.

Bonsey, I really enjoy your posts and the fields of corn reminded me of that old song...."The corn is as high as an elephants eye, and it reaches clear up to the sky.  Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day."

Despite the good weather, things just keep falling apart here.  Amanda is still ill, Ralph will need an operation, a favorite rabbit has suddenly developed Ryes Neck and is now on medication and residing in the garage, and Misty has developed an eye infection and will need to see the vet.  Until the kids got back from holidays, things were great and life was happy.  While bathing Misty's eye, Wendy and I remarked on how Misty got stung by a bee and was going nutty the day after they got back....and that started the slide into ?  We started laughing so hard it scared the cat.

It must be my Danish ancestors who gave me the ability to laugh at life in the face of adversity and it passed on to my daughter.  Did you know that Denmark has been considered the happiest country in the world for the past 30+ years?  I was curious about why and looked it up this morning.  Was beginning to think we were nuts and didn't realize it....

After careful study, Dr. Christensen thinks he isolated the key to Danish anti-depression. "What we basically figured out that although the Danes were very happy with their life, when we looked at their expectations they were pretty modest," he says.

By having low expectations, one is rarely disappointed.
;)

Hmmm!

So that is what is going on.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

JudyB

Liz Try bathing the cat's eye with tea bags, and then use polysporin drops.  That is what my vet told me to do when I had that problem with a cat.  A little less $$$ than the vet visit.

We did remember that saying....didn't know it was a song though.

Nita

Good morning.  It's been fun reading about all the farming, farms and farming country.  I am a country girl at heart.  I would love seeing what Bonsey sees on his trips.

Farmer's Market officially opened here yesterday.  I missed the first day, but will check it out next Wednesday.  I enjoy shopping in the outdoor market, and getting the freshest of produce.

Judy, no rain here, and I finally got the end of my mowing done yesterday.  Just in time to start again. :)  Today I'm using the weed eater to trim things up.

Ruth Ann, I've always been a morning person.  I love waking up early, especially now, and seeing the sun already out.  Or waking up earlier, grabbing my blanket and coffee and sitting out watching the sunrise.  It's sort of chilly, but I am all wrapped in my blanket so it's pure joy.

Liz, I don't think I am Danish, but I am a happy person.  I don't think I have great expectations either, so maybe that's the key?  I do trust that God has my life in His hands, and each day it's exciting to see what "We" will do with it.  :)

I am sending my wishes for a God-Blessed day to all of you.

Marilyn

Good morning everyone, I have about an hour before I have to leave for the office although there is no set time that I have to be there, I will only be there for a couple of hours anyway and can go in anytime I want to.

Nita I thought the Farmers Market was on Sunday, when I used to go back to California on Sunday morning I would see the Farmers Market down by the  boardwalk. So just Where is the Wednesday Farmers Market?

I must be Danish at heart.  I seldom get down.  Always seem to think that things could be worse and to be thankful for what I got/have.  Even my A/C not working.  It could be worse.  It could be August and 90 degrees every day!  At least it cools down at night.

As for farms...when I read my devotions, I can look to the north at the field across the road.  It was planted in corn last week.  Yesterday I was marveling at the straight rows.  We had a rain last night and this morning, I marveled at the sudden green growth in those rows.  It has been misting rain this morning.  You can almost 'see' that corn grow!  Even looking across the rows you can see a tinge of green.  Bet the farmers that have their planting done are happy for the rain last night.

Ivalou and Kaye Don mowed the grass yesterday.  I thought...I am going to mow tomorrow, then mow next Thursday and have surgery Friday and hopefully by the time I need to mow again, I can do it myself and not rely on someone else to mow.  But I wasn't counting on rain last night.  It is pretty wet out there right now.  I took the trash and walked in the grass coming back home and my sandals sure got soaked.  WeatherBug says a chance of rain this afternoon.  Maybe it will dry off and I can mow this evening.

Marilyn ~ I caught the 'husband' word also.  Are you going to tell us anything?

Today is Kaye Don and Barb's 54th Wedding Anniversary!

Not anything else planned today.

Philippians says I have learned that whatsoever state I am in I will be content, whether I abound or am in need,  That is not a direct quote.  I know a lot of people who are never content.  Always wanting one more thing.  They are miserable.  I am content with the "things" I have.  I can't take them with me so why want more.

Pat

Wish you were down here, Judy.  Sorting the garage and finding lots of Avon stuff but I'm giving lots to Bibles for Missions down at Len's Mill as I have to get it out of there to make more room for a freezer in there and then get rid of the one in the fruit cellar.

Judy!!!  I know that truck stop in Wilton!!!  What a shame we didn't know enough to connect at that time.  I'll send you my phone # by email and if he comes this way again he can call me and I'll meet him at that truck stop.  (I'm sure he wouldn't want to take his rig over Wilton Mountain Road from there to my house - it's a dilly.)

Pat

Ohhh, wish I could be with John if ever he gets to meet you, Jeanne.  We were so close when we were at that Bible Conference and yet we just "met" on the phone!

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

JudyB

Pat bag up the Avon the girls will think it is Christmas!!!!  John can pick it up when he is down your way, but you will have to meet him, he can't take the truck to your place.

Jeanne do trucks go over the mountain?  We have been on some dillys!

Pat get Paul to take you there!  He would enjoy the trip also!

Jeanne Lee

Pat, that was so early in our friendship I don't think we felt the desire to meet that we have now.  But we have had some "interesting" phone calls, haven't we?   :D

Judy, unless I'm mistaken that road is one of those with restricted weight limits.  Of course construction and dump trucks and the like do have to take it at times, but they crawl and it's frustrating to get caught behind them - absolutely no place for several miles to pass safely.  I've never known of a big rig taking that route.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I think today has been pretty productive. Just housekeeping type chores, but it gives us a sense of satisfaction when they're done, doesn't it.

I've been listening to Pandora.com while working, right now, it's playing "El Shaddai", one of my favorites.

What a blessing to be able to listen to good Christian music at any time day or night through Pandora.

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann

Janet

I'm also a country girl, raised on a dairy farm, actually was one of the dairy maids.  ;) But the area where we lived was very dry and harsh.  I love driving/riding across this beautiful country of ours and seeing the contrasting landscapes.  God has such infinite creative genius!  If heaven is even more beautiful, then WOW!!

So far, Pat is the only CP friend we have met in person, and we did enjoy that visit so much!  Oh, that's not right---we also met Ruthie!  Sorry, Ruthie--you need to pop in and post more often.

My heart is heavy today.  Beth is very ill, and was taken by ambulance the few blocks from the care home to the hospital this morning.  In all the trying times of sickness, accidents and surgeries I have gone through with Beth, this is the worst I have ever seen her look.  Her color is ghastly, she is in intense pain, dehydrated, has a raging infection, and is totally lethargic.  :'( :'(  The nurses are so angry at the doctors; they have been calling and faxing them for a week, trying to get them to come see about Beth.  They just kept promising "I'll be there this afternoon---or tomorrow--or...."  :ticked:  They have her on IVs, are giving her morphine, and are going to do a CT scan of her abdomen and chest X-Rays.  Prayers would really be appreciated.  Thanks so much.

I am a happy person, too, and nothing ever gets me down for long.  When you have a chronically ill daughter, as Liz, Larry and I all do have, that's a really good thing.  Thank you, Lord.

Just thought I'd give you all an update on
Judy and Norm McKenna:

As you know, Judy is in traction in Henderson Hospital in Hamilton and I've taken Norm up and down to see her.  Well, Judy persuaded Norm to go into the Royal on Gordon, a senior retirement home here, to stay until Judy is back in Guelph.

They also put their house up for sale and decided that since Judy may not walk again, that they should move into a new retirement home here in Guelph and they signed up for a two bedroom one.

Well, yesterday, Norm didn't turn up for breakfast at the home he's been in.  So they checked his room and found him on the floor and very, very ill.

A call to 911 was put in and he was transported to Guelph Hospital where they found that he had had a massive heart attack and also a bleed in the brain.

He was transferred to the General Hospital in Hamilton where they did emergency surgery on his brain and put in a drain.  Karen and David both arrived.  He doesn't know the kids although he moves his eyes around the room as they move.  David is praying with his father all the time and Karen is listening.  Karen has never made a profession of faith in Christ.

Well, the hard part is that Judy is in a close by hospital in traction and she's asked for permission to go off traction and go by stretcher in order to go to the other hospital to see Norm so that she can even say "Farewell, see you on the other side." but they can't arrange it due to complications.  So poor Judy is very close but can't get near to him.

Please pray for these two dear people.

Pat that is so bad.  She needs to keep asking.  I am praying.  Will continue to pray.

Janet I am praying for you and Beth

Marilyn

Praying for Judy and Norm.

Keith has gone to Bandon to take photos, using my camera, of a  home being built by a lady who lives in Alaska. We have to  process the photos and email them to her as well as send the printed copies via snail mail. This morning he taught me how to operate the blueprint machine and get them ready for the contractors. We keep the original plans.
