Morning Devotional...
TODAY'S INSIGHT
"It's A Rat Race!"
Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us (Hebrews 12:1, NLT).
Dear friends:
A Campus Crusade for Christ staff member in Orlando had a neighbor who worked at Walt Disney World, a huge industry in that area and where Mickey Mouse is king.
One day he decided to be clever, and he asked his neighbor, "What's it like to work for a mouse?"
The neighbor's funny reply was even more clever: "It's a rat race."
Has your life ever felt like a rat race?
Lori was struggling with this feeling. As a dedicated Christian wife and mother, she also held a part-time job and was actively involved in several ministries at her local church.
For the most part, she enjoyed her ministry opportunities. But during the past several months it seemed that no one appreciated her efforts, and she had even encountered some resistance from those she was trying so hard to serve. So she was feeling discouraged and tired, ready to "drop out" of her active service in the Lord's work.
If you have ever been tempted to drop out when life seemed like a rat race, let me assure you, you are not alone! Many of the Old Testament saints were tempted to give in to these pressures, too. But they persevered, and the apostle Paul wrote an entire chapter, Hebrews 11, to commend them for their endurance. Some call this chapter the "Heroes Hall of Fame."
Then Paul addressed you and me in Hebrews chapter 12, verses 1 and 2: "Since we have such a huge crowd of men of faith watching us from the grandstands, let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us" (NIV).
Paul considered his own life a race. In the Bible, at least, he never used the term "rat race," but there may have been times when he thought it, in ancient terms!
On one occasion he said, "I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me -- the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace" (Acts 20:24. NIV).
May we all keep running in that glorious race, and persevere.
Yours for helping to fulfill the Great Commission
each year until our Lord returns,
Bill Bright
Janet: How interesting. We all think work at ancient times was slow and simple and yet some had made their lives into a "rat race". Well, they took on too much or perhaps were of the character that they just were busy and never took enough time to contemplate. May we all take time to receive the many blessings.
Thank you Janet
Pretty cool poll this week. I love fresh fruit I think, since the choice is to "vote for up to 18" I could just say "all of the above". :D
Thanks, Janet ... for the devotional thoughts, and the extra effort you have made to post them before going to work. <3
I once wrote a "modern parable" that pointed out the many parallels to our "work" and the feelings of being unappreciated, etc. Our reward/appreciation comes from the One who has commissioned us and gives us the ability to fulfill it.

I am not crazy about some fruits, not sure where cranberries fit in but they are a definite no-no. The only way I eat apples is in apple crisp and Doug's apple pie.
We have our fire going today.. It is C-c-cold
John was to see mother this morning. She is well, by far healthier than we are!!!
I am checking out the picture threads. We have some amazing photographers here at CP.
Jane I will check that out later today.
:hb2: :hb2: :hb3: :hb2: :hb2:
Thinking of you today Ruth Have a good day!
:hb2: :hb2: :hb2: :hb2:
Jane: Your modern parable is so creative and very interesting.
Ruth: Happpy Birthday!
Hi everyone and Happy Birthday Ruth.
Pat still wasn't feeling up to going to church this morning. We had a 90 minute service today with two baptisms, a film clip, Communion, and a special 7-9 minute solo by our choir director called "Moses" by Ken Medima. The sermon today was on the encounter Moses had with God in the burning bush and was given by our youth minister.
I have had a quiet afternoon and this week isn't too filled with activities.
Ruth, I hope this first day of your new life has been a great one. :)
It's rainy today - so much so that the pants suit and blouse I wore to church this morning are dripping dry.
We had family dinner after church, so it was wonderful to be with friends and loved ones.
And, my daughter just called and "dated me up" for a meal out next Sunday! What fun that will be.
Y'all have a wonderful remainder of the day.

I called the surgery scheduler and she said the surgeon is in New Jersey, where his father was buried and won't return to Indiana until May 13 so I won't know when surgery will be scheduled until after that. Janet, thanks for asking!
It is fun scanning photos for Ivalou. Memory time! I also found some photos that Mom and Dad had and scanned them for her also. One was of Mom and Dad, Ivalou and Kaye Don. Looks like Ivalou might have been 5 or 6 years old. They are standing in my now front yard. Neat. Same maple tree out front and the neighbors house across the road.
After church today 9 of us went out to eat at Bob Evans. I got one of their Boburritos. It was okay but sure like the Wildfire Fried Chicken Salad muches better!
Then we went to the baby shower. I do believe this little boy will have to have his clothes changed a half a dozen times a day in order to wear all the clothes he got today before he out grows them! Real nice shower.
Then I hated to do it on Sunday but I came home, changed clothes and mowed the grass. It has been so rainy lately so I couldn't mow when I needed to mow. It normally takes me an hour and fifteen minutes to mow but it took me a half hour longer. I had to mow slow...it was really tall!
Now I am relaxing and hoping to go to bed kind of early tonight. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

:) Good evening to all at C.P. ;
We had a busy week as we had lots of baby sitting the grandchildren and it is so much fun but also very tiring. Our daughter-in-law is a nurse and she works nights most of the time so we have to be there so that daddy can leave to go to work and mummy is still not home by that time so it works out good when we are there.
Janet: I thought that you were going to retire but it sounds that you are as busy as ever. You need to take it easy. :coffee:
Larry: How are you and Pat doing I hope that you are both taking it easy and looking after yourselves please don't overdoe it. How are your kids health doing? Wish I could drop in to your coffee gathering with your friends :coffee:
Paul and Pat: Hope all is well and your health is good. Noreen and I are heading down to her sisters in the month of June and we will be going through Virginia. Will you be down there then we plan to leave June 10th. and head home the 22nd. or the 23rd. so if it worked out we might be able to see you. Send me an email and let me know. God bless sis. <3
Judy B; How are you doing also how is John? Hope that you are looking after your health. Love from Noreen and I <3
Janet, I don't often visit here, but God put me here today. I have recently gone through a heartache at our church. Having been the substitute music director for the past 5 years, when our regular director "resigned" (we are all volunteers - no paid positions), I was greatly disappointed that someone else was picked to assume the position. It has been a struggle for me. I don't know if it is God's plan or church politics (unfortunately you find them in church). I do know, and have known from the beginning, that God will use it for good.
Thank you for the word I needed.
Becky
I'm sorry, Becky. We had a similar situation in our church a few years ago, and it caused a lot of hurt. I always say the devil will steal from you any way he can. But praise be to God, who always gives us the victory. I'm so glad the words helped you.
Gord, I am just helping out temporarily at the care home. I do not intend it to be long term!
I am having so much fun working with my sister on her new book! She pounds the keys, then calls me to update me on what's happening with the characters. She asks for my input, so I make suggestions, she considers them and uses what she likes. She will print out a copy soon so I can get started editing it. Fun!
I'm off work today, so we got the trash carried out, and I have some framing that has been waiting for a while, better get to that!
Pat, where did you post the winning photographs?
I came back to say :hbirthday: to Ruth!! Hope it was great!
I also did the little quiz thingy. My "other" vote goes to Dragonfruit! We ate a lot of that in Thailand. It's quite unusual, and the plants look like cactus. Interesting!
Hello
This time I will be brief but I do wish to thank everyone for the Birthday Wishes of yesterday. We spent the weekend away and although pleasant I did find it stressful as well as I was not able to relax in my usual way.
Mel has just arrived home with a Tim Horton's coffee :coffee:

What a beautiful day in Indiana today! See, all that rain last week that God gave us lets appreciate sunny days all the more!
Today is SAM dinner. Senior Adult Ministry. We are going to 'Claude and Annie's'. We like it there because we are in our own room and it is much quieter for those who are hard of hearing. Jane is driving today and will be picking Ivalou and I up.
Then this evening is council meeting at church. Busy day! <: )) ))><<~~> <: )) ))><<~~< <: )) ))><<~~<

Hi everyone. We had a lot of storms in Georgia last evening but the high winds and heavy rain missed us where I live. It rained during the night and was raining hard while I was at coffee this morning and when we went over to walk. It seems to have stopped now.
I didn't do well on walking this morning and was able to do only about 10 or 11 rounds of the gym. I got very out of breath and had some chest pressure after only 5 rounds so rested in hopes of being able to do the usual walk but after another few rounds gave it up to today. It may be related to the weather but came home feeling tired but OK now.
Today is our Monday men's luncheon. We will likely have a small group today as several have let me know they have other things happening that will prevent them attending. That is all that is on my schedule today.
I am working on something different this morning that I learned about yesterday. Microsoft has a program called Mesh (www.mesh.com) that works through Live Desktop and it allows you to back up your files and sync this with other devices or other computers. They offer 5 gigs of space free for this backup. I decided to use it. It will be a good way to keep files between my laptop and desktop in sync. It will take awhile to get the files all uploaded but then it should be a fast process.
Gord, my wife has had a cold for over a week but seems to be better although still has a cough and isn't feeling 100%. Fortunately I haven't contacted it. It sounds like you are getting to spend a lot of time with your grandchildren. This is a joy we have never had the opportunity to experience. I had hoped I would be able to spend some time with my great grandchildren but that seems to be out of the picture now as they have moved back to New York.
Etta Sue, sounds like you have a busy church day today. It is nice that you have been able to become so active in your new church and I am sure you don't miss the long drive.
Janet, I have never heard of dragonfruit. It sounds like your sister is really getting into the writing. Is this something she has always wanted to do?
Becky, I am sorry to hear that you were hurt by not being selected to be the music director at your church. I hope you don't tear yourself up over it as we have no control over other people and we only hurt ourselves when we carry around hurts and anger. I am glad you found comfort in what was posted for this week.
Ruth Ann, I detect that you are really enjoying your retirement and that is wonderful. My sister retired a couple of years ago but didn't like it went back to work part-time.
Ruth, I hope you enjoyed your Tim Horton's coffee. That must be a Canadian chain as have never seen those stores in the USA.
Janet, do you see on the left side bar where is says, "Help us congratulate the Winners of Mini Challenge #31 HERE" ? The word "HERE" in that notice is clickable. It's also on the Newsline and it's in the topic.

Belated Birthday Greetings
RUTH!
Pat, thanks for that video. I really enjoyed it.
Becky, I'm surely sorry you'r dealing with such pain. Please return - this is a place of Godly love and often I receive the guidance I need through something someone says, or through the powerful devotions here.
Larry, hope the rest of the day is much better for you.
Y'all have a good day.
Raining here again today. We did get enough sun yesterday for Keith to mow our yard and part of the yard next door, and around the fire hydrant across the street. I did take the dogs for a short walk yesterday too.
My allergies and asthma has been acting up with everything blooming. With all the hills around here and my asthma making it difficult to breathe the dogs walks have gotten shorter on windy days. I haven't had to use my asthma inhalers for 3 years until now. But what I really need to do is see a Doctor up here and get some new meds. these inhalers although brand new are 3 years old and expired last year. So I think I better call the medicaid worker and see how long it takes for medicaid to get approved so I can go to a doctor. I am pretty sure my doctor in California would approve any meds I already have taken but not new ones if I need different meds.
Marilyn, I hope you get the allergy meds you need soon. I've never had any allergies but can just imagine how discouraging it must be to not be able to enjoy the lovely spring weather.
I voted in the favorite fruit poll and now my mouth is watering. I don't buy much fresh fruit - it's so very expensive and most of it is so green in the store that it frequently spoils before it gets ripe. :(
Morning folks. I wish I had Pat's "I don't do mornings frog!" today. I have an x-ray and a doctor's appointment today. I need a cortisone injection in my left shoulder. Not looking forward to the shot, but am looking forward to the results. I haven't been able to use the left arm for some time.
We at last have good weather. In the 60's and the trees are finally budding. Another week of this and I will be mowing.
Must run, have to leave in 5 minutes.

I had a great time yesterday with church members outside of church. 'Claude and Annie's' is a really nice place to have a group lunch since they have a room away from the rest of the people. We could talk and be heard and could hear when others talked.
Then last night was a great council meeting. Thursday is National Day of Prayer and we are having a prayer meeting at church. Friday night we are having a movie to raise funds for Pastor Steve's son, Ben, who is going on a mission trip to Kenya for three months. Ben is graduating from Johnson Bible College in Knoxville after the trip. The movie is to be 'Facing the Giants'. Ivalou and I are planning on going.
Tomorrow Ivalou and I are to have our A/C units cleaned and checked. Hope it isn't raining and is above 70°.
Beautiful day in Indiana today. But I must get more of Ivalou's photos on her photo frame. Then I will be ready for more photos to scan.(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2F%253Cbr%2520%2F%253ECrosses.gif&hash=a20248754210521e37b5468eb257de739e5571d0)

Thanks to each of you for your kind words. Even through the hurt I know God will use this for something good.
Marilyn, I live in the allergy belt and know some of what that is like. I hope you get relief soon. Breathing is such an important part of our life. :)
Judy B, good luck at the doctor's. Cortisone shots are not fun, but they help a lot.
As to the fruit we like questionnaire, I found as I was answering I frequently thought of what the fruit went in to that I liked, i.e., peach cobbler, blackberry "doobie" (as my Grandmother called it), Blueberry Buckle. All really good. So, is it the fruit I like or the . . . sugar, cream, etc?
Have a good day.
Becky
Pat I would like to add that I love Asian Pears. They are not on the list.
I have been approved for medicaid and have been trying to make an appointment at the Doctor, but they are not there for a couple of days.
Hello Everyone...
It's a lovely day here in Guelph! As I sit here and look out the window, I see the birds all very busy either building nests in the bushes or maybe they are feeding young. I'm not quite sure. If they are feeding young in the bush, maybe I'll try to get a photo of the young later on. But maybe I won't bother with that but just enjoy watching them working so hard.
What a wonderful God we have! Even when we feel "down", He's there to put His loving arms around you and assure us that we're loved.
Isn't that a great thought?
Proverbs 18:24
A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.I love music. I love to sit and have lovely music playing in the background as I work around the house and right now I have this hymn playing and as I started to sing it along with the music playing, I thought that maybe you might like to sing it too. I know that when I'm discouraged or sad or feeling "down" (as all of us feel at times), this is a hymn that sure lifts you up.
Enjoy!

Words by Lina Berg
Music by Oscar Ahnfelt
Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best
Lovingly, it's part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and with rest.
Ev'ry day the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He whose name is Counselor and Pow'r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
This the pledge to me He hath made.
Help me then in ev'ry tribulation
So to trust thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith's sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy Holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
'Til I reach the blessed, promised land.

Pat that is one of my favourites.
Well I am home and taking it easy...Doctor's orders. Doug and a friend were here using our barn as storage. They took out a couple of plants for me. Doug also had the unpleasant job of putting his dog down today. He had a bad hip and had started nipping people that startled him. Sad...he was a nice dog.
It is a lovely day here as well. The house is quite cool, but refreshing after the warmth of the day. Girls will be home soon and dinner is almost ready. I just have to turn on the stove under the pots.
Must go for now
Well, it's been a busy day today. I met a repairman from a local handyman service who fixed the door's window, and the other door where they (1) broke out the window with a brick in the first door, and (2) kicked in the other door, messing up the door frame and strike plate.
While he was doing that, I picked up the things the thieves had dumped on the floor and fixed up a small-size box I can lift and brought it back with me. In it was an inexpensive Spanish program I had purchased a few years ago. Now, maybe what it was trying to teach me will sink in!!! :uglystupid:
Next was research on the internet as to how to apply for unemployment. A newly turned 60 friend was laid off by her former employer, and is not a computer person. So, I'll help her to get her claim filed.
Now, my alarm has rung to remind me to get to my son's apartment to help him arrantge, put away, and etc. so he can continue getting his things out of the house.
So, y'all have a great rest of the day. Much love to all.
Ruth Ann
My post yesterday isn't here & it was so good.. :D
I am home after hours at the court house. I wasn't chosen to be on a jury & with the newer & much longer forms we make out with so much information, I put down that Don had worked with HMO insurance - you can bet that threw me out of the lot. Back home, washing clothes, tomorrow we go to grandson's house & stay with him on the overnights - run run run. Bought a new light fixture for one bathroom and getting estimates on a new kitchen sink & countertop. We are also trying to help a son with his cabin. Sometimes, we are more busy than years ago - at least we feel it.
Pat: Thanks for the peaceful and relaxing music. Loved the YouTube as well.
Ruth Ann: It is just super that you are helping a friend who has lost her job - a big hug for her - & you too as it is frightful that you had a break-in.
Larry: We are going to check out mesh. I hope it is only the weather bothering you on your walking.
Becky: I did reply to you but don't know what happened to the post. Hang in there - there will be an answer for you. Meanwhile, come in here often! :)
Carol, I see your posts (Reply #1 and #7) Did you post something other than those? ;)
Today was my first day working alone, and it went really well. I had a 10:00 appointment, and was clocking out of the Legacy at two minutes till! Of course, I had to wait a while, anyway.
Then I had several errands to run, and after that came home and took a nice nap! Boy, that napping could get to be a habit!
Beth was miserable today, very bloated. She needs to get up and walk around, and that isn't possible for her, so the gases build up from the surgery. I took her hands and moved her arms around for a while, hope that helped. :(
Carol, you guys are working too hard! Are you related to me, and really don't know how to take it easy?
Have any of you read the book THE SPIRIT CATCHES YOU AND YOU FALL DOWN? I just started it, and it is fascinating. It was recommended to us by our Vietnamese tour guide.
We had a nice little rain shower early this morning!! PTL!!
Well, this is a big day. We're changing over from dialup to a cable company called Suddenlink. The man is here right now doing the work that needs to be done. It'll include TV, telephone, and internet. So, hopefully, I'll be able to watch YouTube, etc. I certainly thank our Lord for this improvement.
Hi, friends,
Yep -- you betcha I'm home and in my bedtime attire already! Whew, what a busy day.
Al, you should see a great improvement right away. :)
Y'all have a great evening.
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. This was a very busy day. I was able to walk the mile this morning so have to think it was weather related yesterday. I had a meeting this morning and then rested a bit after lunch and at 2 pm headed to Atlanta to pick up our daughter to bring her back out here for a chiropractor appointment. Today was Patient Appreciation Day and the treatments were free. He just asked for the patients to bring a couple of cans of food for the local food bank. Both Stacey and Pat had appointments at 4 pm. After dinner we all got in the car and headed back to her apartment. Fortunately the run hour traffic was over and we had a good trip. This was the first time we have had the new car on the Interstate. We really enjoyed the drive.
I will be retiring for the night soon as find I am tired and I see Pat has fallen asleep in her easy chair.
Ruth Ann, I must have missed about your house being broken into. I hope they didn't take anything of value.
Judy, hope the shot helps with the pain and restores your shoulder to usefulness.
Al, you will really enjoy the faster Internet.
Janet, sorry to hear of the discomfort Beth is experiencing. Glad your working alone went so well.
Carol, being on a jury is an awesome experience but very tiring, especially if you get on a long case.
Well, it's all hooked up and running. I'm on high-speed internet now. Wow! What a difference. You were right, Larry.

Pat I would like to add that I love Asian Pears. They are not on the list.
Yes they are soo good Pat. You will have to try them, John and I half one and find that it is very filling!
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
We had quite a night. Darrel woke up in such pain he didn't know what to do. His back has been hurting continuously since he got the shingles, in spite of pain pills, chiropractic treatments, etc. He sat up on the side of the bed for a while, nearly crying; then said "You're going to have to take me to the hospital." I got up and dressed, he was still walking around in his underwear, so I said, "If you're going to the hospital, you'd better get some clothes on." He picked up his pants, held them in one hand, dragging them all over the house, moaning and groaning. Finally, he got a little relief. I had him take his sugar, it was a little high, so I got him a string cheese to eat. Finally, after about an hour, we went back to bed. He has gone to the doctor this morning, sure hope he gets some relief. :(
I have Red Hats today, plus numerous errands to run. Park View called wanting me to come back to work, and I told them I cannot work both places at the same time! Good grief, am I that good a cook?? :-\
Al, good you got cable now! You will enjoy it, for sure!
On Friday, we will be heading to Salina for grandson Mark's college graduation. Thursday night, Abby is dancing in Snow White, then on Sunday night is her other dance recital. What a busy weekend this is going to be!
Ruth Ann, sorry to hear of your house being broken into; hope you had already moved all your most valuable things. It does take a long time to get everything sorted and moved, doesn't it?
Larry, so glad you were able to do your mile this time with no ill effects! God bless you.
Judy, I hope that shoulder is much, much better now.
Now I am off to do what is calling me!

Computer problems....grrrrr! I was enhancing and resizing photos for Ivalou's photo frame and saving a step by saving them to the SC card. All of a sudden, I couldn't save them...an error number came up. So I saved them to a folder in My Documents. When I got done, I thought, I will save them to a Flash drive and let Ivalou use that. Still I couldn't save. Same error number. So I came into the living room and used the laptop. Same thing on both the SC card and the Flash Drive. Both are 2g and only 26mb are on each...not same pix. Both only have 174 pics out of 210 on them. So I searched the error number and called Iyogi Technical Support. Cost me to get it fixed and thought it was and my laptop froze. Couldn't even shut it off. Called them back and got the laptop to reboot. After I hung up I remembered the SD Card was blank when I put the 36 pics on it that wouldn't load before. When I went to put the other 174 pics on the SD card, I still got the same error number. Again only 174 pics on the SD card and 36 pics wouldn't save on it. Not fixed.
I was so keyed up that I didn't even have my evening meal until after 10:30pm and knew I wouldn't sleep if I went to bed. So I watched my TV recordings...'Biggest Loser', 'Dancing with the Stars' and 'American Idol' and went to bed at 2:30am!!!
Up this morning and waiting on the A/C man to come and clean the A/C OR call to say he isn't coming since it looks like rain any minute and it is only to get to 70 degrees today.
Computers are like windshield wipers. Great when they work okay but really a big problem when they don't!!o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0

Hi everyone. It is a cloudy morning here in Georgia but 68 degrees. We now have a tornado watch for the Atlanta area, which includes our County, until 7 pm tonight. So we will be keeping a close eye on the weather.
Other than to attend a meeting this evening I have no other plans for the day. We did not go to Bible Study this morning as Pat still isn't feeling totally up to par, but much better. I went walking again this morning and then went to Kroger's for some grocery items.
Etta Sue, sometimes computer related problems can be such a pain. Don't think I understand your problem but don't have any suggestions either. Hope you get some help today since you have already paid for it.
Janet, sure feel for Darrel and that must have been a terrible night. Sure hope the doctor can help him and that he gets to feeling better so he can participate in the weekend events with your grandchildren. I bet your cooking is great and that is why they are calling you for the other job.
Al, I felt confident you would really enjoy the high speed Internet.
Larry I have been in Georgia during tornado watches. No fun.
Janet let Darryl know that I have prayed for him.
Woke up with a relieved shoulder and a stiff neck. That will pass not a big deal. The temperature will be around 68 here as well today. That is always welcomed.
I have to leave soon to pick Kassie up and take her to the hospital to have her foot x-rayed. Last night it was coloured like a rainbow and the toes were swollen. She didn't feel like heading in to town last night and can't afford to miss school so this will be an after school visit.
I must be going have other forums to visit.
Know you all are prayed for

Happy Birthday to Gord and to Julia. When I posted earlier I hadn't realized that this was a special day for you two.
Gord, I think we are about the same age (68) or are you ahead or behind me? :)
We have had one rain shower go through here but so far all is well in our area.
Judy, sorry to read that Kassie has hurt her foot. Sure hope there are no broken bones.

I don't think I have "met" you on here, so may I say WELCOME as well? WELCOME!! :)
Oh, my, what a lovely day we had here in Kansas today! Warm, sunshiny, and NO wind!! Perfect!
I enjoyed the Red Hats outing, and went to see poor Beth. She is even more miserable now than before the surgery. They had her so doped up on pain meds she was just mumbling. They promised to call her doctor..... :'(
In case you haven't been, please pray for our country!! We are sinking deeper into trouble every day. And the president said, without apology, "This is no longer a Christian nation." :ticked: He is refusing to allow any National Day of Prayer events in the White House. :clobber: :clobber: :clobber: :clobber:
Well, guess you don't have to wonder where I stand! ???
Kassie has another bad sprain with her ankle. She is on crutches and has to keep it bound up. She will be ok, but I am convinced a sprain is worse than a break as it takes longer to heal.
Had a good afternoon with her, spent a bit of time with Megan and Melaura.
Have to get supper ready so I am off for now.
I certainly wish a happy birthday to Gord and Julia! We're glad you're here! And we're glad you've been here as long as you have! And we pray it'll be much, much longer yet!
Hi everyone. I am getting here early today as have sometime before leaving for coffee. Starting about 3 am this morning we had several periods of very heavy downpours. They didn't last too long, maybe 10 minutes or so, but it created a roaring sounds as was so heavy. I sure hope our daughter didn't get caught out in in trying to get to work this morning.
My calendar is clear today so unless Pat has something in mind I will be able to go at an easy pace today. We are planning on meeting our son and daughter-in-law in Madison, GA on Saturday afternoon. It splits the trip for everyone and hope this works out well so we can do it periodically as we don't see much of them. Then on Sunday we plan on going down to Atlanta to spend sometime with Stacey and perhaps attend the chapel service at the Shepard's Spinal Center chapel, which is across the street from where she lives and then eat in their cafeteria. We have been told there food is very tasty. This makes a lot more sense than for us to bring her out her and have to take her back in the same day.
Janet, I was so hoping, as I know you were, that Beth would be feeling so much better by now after the surgery. Hope the doctor can help.
Judy, I understand that sprains can sometimes be more difficult than breaks to heal. I have never had a bad sprain.
Janet, the National Day of Prayer service has apparently been held a the WhiteHouse for only the last nine years but has been going on for a long time. It sure looks like we are going to be sending more troops into Afganistan and Pakistan. I have to wonder how many battles are military can fight at once with the force levels they have. We are sure asking a lot out of our military.
Hope this is a good day for everyone. I am looking forward to it myself. God is good and may I seek only his will for my life today.
I'd like to wish a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Gord and Julia. Sorry I'm late, I'm running behind on everything this year. :hb3: :hb2: :hb3: :hb2: :hb3: :hb2:

Hope your birthday has been great and that you'll be into your new year and experiencing a closer walk with Him, enjoying fellowship and friendship and love and peace.
I've been "stirring around" today and enjoying more sifting through, putting away, and tossing. Y'all are right - it surely does take plenty of effort to downsize so drastically. How thankful I am that my son has allowed me long enough to do this without experiencing too much stress.
Yes, the thieves took a few things, but it was apparent they wanted something they could get a bit of money to spend quickly. The repairs cost more than I expected, but then, that's why I moved out of hte house...repairs ARE so expensive.
I think I'll be involved assisting a friend for the next couple of days, so may be missing a little while.
Y'all have a great day.
Ruth Ann
Oh, dear! I didn't get here yesterday and so my birthday wishes for Gord and Julia have to be belated but no less sincere!!! <3
Etta Sue, I have a suggestion for your SC card. I take it it's from your camera, right? Save any pictures that are on it to your computer, then put it back into the camera and format, not just erase. And be sure to do it in the camera not from the computer. May not help at all, but at this point it has to be worth a try! And if it won't format in the camera then you'll know that the card is no longer any good.
This is another beautiful day here in the North. We have a 30% chance of rain this afternoon, so I am watching for that. I have laundry on the line and want to get it in before it does rain.
Happy birthday to these wonderful folks as well. May God richly bless you in the year to come!

Must run, have a lot on the agenda today.
Good morning everyone!
:hb3: A big happy birthday to Gord and Julia!
It took me about a week, but I am finally feeling better. Still a bit of asthma, but the pollen count is through the roof here and obviously it's a pollen that I'm allergic to.
The oldest of my baby girls is fixing to graduate a week from this Saturday. You're all invited! :) Here's the link to the invitation...http://idahohomeschoolgraduation.org/ (http://idahohomeschoolgraduation.org/) I can't believe it is here already. Seems I was just holding her in my arms as a baby and then teaching her to hold a pair of scissors and pronounce words. She's taking part in the Idaho Homeschool Graduation that's being held at a college in our area. Her father and I are so proud! If you haven't seen her film site, you should go there sometime. She begins filming her latest full length movie with original script and music in July. It has a Christian message. Read more about "On My Own" on the site. http://www.freewebs.com/akbproductions/index.htm (http://www.freewebs.com/akbproductions/index.htm)
For anyone interested, I've posted the images of the first two days of our anniversary trip in my Travel Blog on my website, along with a bonus! My commentary-free of charge! http://www.shekinahphotography.com/travelblog (http://www.shekinahphotography.com/travelblog)
I must get going now, just wanted to pop in and say hi and let you know about the graduation and trip photos and that I'm feeling better. You all have a fantastic spring day, okay?
Blessings, Kathleen

Happy Belated Birthday to Gord and Julia!!
Jeanne ~ Thank you for the advise. I got the pictures all on the digital photo frame. The guy on Iyogi formatted the card but I think what really worked was he moved the folder with 212 pics to the SD card instead of opening the folder and highlighting the 212 pictures. He tried that and it still came up with the same error number I was getting. But when he moved the folder (35.5mb) containing the pics, it worked! What was weird it would only load 26mb of pics on the SD card AND on my Flash drive AND on the laptop AND on the desktop, too! I think it is a problem with Windows and not my laptop or my desktop or the SD card or the Flash drive! It moved one item (the folder) okay but only 175 of the 212 items the other way. My opinion!
Anyway, I got it to work and checked out the photo frame and all 212 pictures show. Ivalou is pleased.
Today Kitty called and I met her and Jean Agnew, a Guild member, at Pizza King for lunch. So much fun. Now I am going to put the membership on Excel for Kitty. Ruth Ann, I may be calling you for help!!
It has turned out to be a nice day after all. All morning it looked like rain any minute but now it is bright and sunny! ~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@

Great news, Etta Sue. It may be that I can help you get the file set up, since we already know we both have Office 2007.
Home school high school graduation! What an accomplishment, not only for your student but also for you as teacher! Congratulations to you both!
Y'all have a great rest of the day.

Thanks, Ruth Ann! :) I guess I'm just so proud of her, I haven't really thought too much about my part in it. Hmmm. It has just been such a natural thing, knowing it was God's will for our family to homeschool. I shall reflect on that and also thank my hard working husband who has allowed me to stay home and homeschool and thank the Lord for the freedom to do so. I don't know that it will always be that way, in America.
Correction: Graduation is two weeks from Saturday. ::)
Thanks be to God for the abilities He's given you and your "students!"

Hi, friends,
I have a prayer request. A dear saint in our church, whom I love deeply, will be entering a nursing home situation in the next 2-3 days. Of course, this will be such a difficult change for her. Please pray for her. God knows her true name, but I'll call her Beatrice to protect her identity here on the net.

Ruth Ann ~ I got the Excel done and I am printing as I type. I have Excel 2007 on the laptop where I generated the file. But I saved it to the Excel '97-'03 Workbook version so I could put it on the desktop and print. THAT'S where I got into problems. It was all too small...figured out to highlight all and change the font size. Then I couldn't get the page breaks right...finally got that. It was a breeze creating it but when I got on the desktop, it was hectic. But I persevered and just got done printing 35 copies front and back. (Thanks for the help. I knew you were only a phone call away) I just sent you an email with the Excel attached.
What a morning. I goof too much.
Tonight they are showing 'Facing the Giants' at church for a donation to Ben Fair who is going to Kenya for 3 months. That should be fun! >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^<

Hey, everybody! I'm popping in to tell you I wish you all a great weekend! We will be leaving here in about an hour, and I need to finish getting stuff into the car. I haven't even wrapped Mark's gift yet!
Anyway, we will be home Sunday night, probably late, as will stay in Hugoton for Abby's dance recital before coming on home......and I have to work Monday 6-10! Yawn.....
See you next week!
Janet: Yes, praying for this nation to open their eyes!
Pat: I dont know where I lost my post and dont have time to look right now. It is alright.
Happy
Birthday Gord & Julia
Listening to g-son on his trumpet. He is hitting the high notes now. We picked up old friends (neighbors) and drove them to our house for a while & then they wanted to take us out to Mimi's for lunch. All of this took quite some time as he can barely walk with a cane. Rushed back & g-son had a trumpet lesson. I think I fell asleep for a few minutes. Tortilla soup for dinner tonight - we had clam chowder & salad for lunch and Don had French Onion Soup & salad. Wonderful day.
Larry: I am glad that your car is doing so well. Nice that Pat & Stacey had a freebie day.
Ruth Ann: You sure are taking your break-in in stride. It is nice that you have such a great background in computers and be of help to so many in that regard. Take care.
We will be home tomorrow night. Feeling really tired - it must be all the stairs.
Al: Welcome to the fast lane!
:) I would like to thank you all for my birthday wishes from so many. I have had an extended birthday and my daughter and son-in-law and grandon are here tonight and we are having a birthday supper. Then next week my other kids will celebrate it with me at there place so it has been fun.
Today was not so much fun as I had to be at the hospital to have a Colonocopy done so yesterday I had to fast and that was no fun but we got through it but one problem was that I had taken my meds and I should not have because of the blood thinner so now Ihave to go back and have a few polips removed. :)
Larry: You are a bit older than me I hope that you and Pat are looking after your selves. :coffee:
Well it sounds like you are all keeping very busy and I looked over most all of the postings and very interesting.May the Lord be with you all and again please continue to pray for my wife and that we will soon get a hearing with the government. God Bless. Gord. :cp:
Thanks Carol - yes, it really IS the "fast lane!" I keep getting amazed every day at the speed with which the websites come in.
Isn't it wonderful?
Jesus is Coming Soon!!
Hi, friends,
I love to help folks with computer questions - if I have the sense to figure out how they've used their software! ;)
Y'all have a wonderful evening with our Lord.
Ruth Ann
Would you beliece it , our weather forecast is calling for snow flurries!!!!!
We are having a birthday party for Elizabeth today at 4:00 at Doug's. That is not as far for folks to come. She has one girlfriend coming and then family.
I am making a potato salad and we are having burgers hotdogs and sausages. Our surrogate grandparents are bringing a coleslaw. We should have a good time with the folks that are there.
Got to run, I want to xhexk out the rest of my "unread" posts.

Today will be another busy day in Indiana. This morning is a Mother/Daughter Tea for Ivalou and I. We are going to her DIL's church at 10am.
Then at 1pm, I am to be at my church and work with the Worship Leader is setting up the overhead program for Mother's Day tomorrow.
Then if it hasn't rained or isn't raining, I need to mow my dandelions! I wish there was money in them...I would be rich!!
And then I will have to shower again!
Busy day!
Thank you so much for helping me, Ruth Ann, and great talking with you last evening!! (^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(

We're having quite a "rain stormy day" here in Guelph. I had a better sleep last night after not sleeping the night before.
Judy, I thought Doug was in Ancaster?
He moved back north last March. Better for both of them. Better rent and family closeby. Her Mom takes the boys quite often.
Hi everyone. We just now got back from meeting our son and daughter-in-law in the little town of Madison, Georgia. It is about equal distance between where we live and where they do. We had lunch at Cracker Barrel as it is right off the exit from Interstate 20. The food was good and a reasonable price for the food served. We had a nice visit over the dinner and then sat on the porch in the rocking chairs they have out front for a little while. However, it was pretty warm and humid outside so didn't terry too long. It is about an hour trip for us and a little over that for them. We really enjoyed it and had a nice trip.
Tomorrow we will be going down to Atlanta to have lunch with our daughter and attend a chapel service at the Shepard Spinal Center, which is right across the street from where she lives. She can easily get over there in her power chair and we hope the cafeteria will be open and if not there is a food court next door in the hospital.

I am all ready for church. Happy Mother's Day!!
I am taking my camera. The worship leader wants some more photos for the Church directory.
Then there will be a few of us ladies that will go out for lunch somewhere.
I have to fix something for a cookout at g-niece's home for this evening. I will find something!

Hey I never thought about this till now, here's a big bunch of flowers I specially ordered for mothers day, so happy mothers day to all you mums out there, Michael.
To All Our Friends at Christian Photographers: Mr. Barbarian says you have been asking after me and wonder why I do not post much. Please don't be offended. I do use Mr.Barbarian to keep me up to date with all of you. The reason that I don't post much is that I still work full time in the billing unit in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern, the state medical school, in Dallas, Texas. I commute to work because we live in a metropolitan area and we do not prefer to live in the middle of Dallas. Anyway, I work on a computer all day long--which happens to be more than an 8 hour day always, and by the time I get home, sitting down at a computer again is the last thing I want to do. I like to take pictures and I like sharing this with Mr. Barbarian. I really like the community of Christian Photographers and hope you understand if I let my husband do the technical stuff with posting. He shows me all of your good pictures and tells me all about your conversations. It is so good that this is a group that is positive and supportive. There are too many people ready to criticize and jump on others when someone shows their vulnerable side. And showing your pictures to others can really be a risk taking experience! I am still shy about that but Mr. Barbarian is building up my courage.

Marilyn - just so you know - that last post of yours consisted only of the infamous question mark.
What a gorgeous photo, Mrs. Barbarian!
It was so nice to see your posting. And I understand "busy-ness" so I'm just happy that your dear husband is willing to help you. I'm sure that you'll find some time sometime to post yourself and when you do, we'll all be so happy!
Thanks!
Well, it's that time again--time to shut the door on this topic and open a new one!
