Morning Devotional...READ: 1 John 5:1-5 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20John%205:1-5&version=50)
For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4).
Consider what is involved in this phrase "the world." Think of the moral pressures that we face in the world today, the outlook and standards of the godless society that is surrounding us, constantly intruding upon our consciousness with tremendous pressure to make us conform to these attitudes and standards of life. Think of the temptation to cheat and lie; to get ahead at all costs; to be dishonest, not only in filling out our income tax but in every aspect of business. Another common pressure that comes upon us from the world is to be sexually immoral, which is especially evident among the young and the unmarried. We are encouraged to feed the fire and satisfy the urge, though it may be wrong and deadly. The pressures around us are tremendous these days, seemingly overpowering at times. There is the pressure to harbor wrong ideas, to react against others the way the world reacts, to strike back and give as good as you get, to be resentful and jealous, to be ambitious and cruel. Don't you feel all this? The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—all this is of the world.
How do you overcome the world? How can you go on, moment by moment, day after day, year after year, living a life that is absolutely contrary to that, based on totally different standards, totally different objectives, totally different evaluations? And to endure not only for ten years, but for decades, against that kind of moral pressure? How do you keep unmoved in the midst of this and not only remain unmoved yourself, but reach out and win others to your side? John says it is "by faith"; that is all. Not by the faith that you once exercised twenty years ago when you first became a Christian, but by faith in the life of Jesus present in you now. By faith in Him at work in you, in the midst of the pressure, countering it with the pressure of His own life.
I once heard of a captain of a ship who was describing what it was like to go through a storm. He described the ship in the midst of the waves mounting on every side, with the wind blowing hard and the pitiless rain coming down. The ship seemed a helpless victim of the storm, caught up in the power of these mighty elements that were raging on every side. Its doom seemed sure. But he said, "I stood there on the bridge of the ship and I grasped the railing. I felt the throbbing of the engines deep down inside the hull. The storm, the wind, and the waves seemed to be saying to the ship, 'You cannot come, you cannot come.' But I heard the answering throb of the engines saying, 'Yes, we shall; yes, we shall; yes, we shall.' And so we do." That is the way we overcome the world.
If we give in, if we reflect the same attitudes and actions as the world, we have succumbed to the world and to the wiles of the devil. We have lost our testimony and all power to witness. But if our dependence is on the life of the Son of God, His life is in us, and then, "This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith."
Father, I sense the call to battle against the subtle and devious forces of a worldly age. Grant that I might have renewed faith in Your power and move out to meet the world in a venture of faith that makes every day a thrilling adventure. From the writing of Ray Stedman
As I was reading my email this week, and remembering that Janet was dealing with such a very ill daughter and wouldn't be able to do the Thoughts for the Week this week, I had the above devotional come into my inbox and thought that I'd share it with all of you as it blessed my heart.
Let's remember to keep Janet and Beth in our prayers as they go through this traumatic time together.
Also, Rachel, our cousin's daughter is very low now. She could last from two days to longer. There is no way to predict. But she's being moved from the Sick Kids Hospital in London to a palliative care facility across the road as they just want to keep her comfortable now.
She needs someone there at all times now to just sit and hold her hand so I'm going to volunteer to go down to London one night and see if I can help.
Please continue to pray for the family.
Pat: It seems especially sad and hurtful when the patient is so young and this is the case of Beth and Rachel. I pray for strength for all in the family and friends.
A few years ago, we drove from D.C. home via Chicago and the trip really did go fast. We stayed overnight near Chicago.
We are not building a cabin but having water and electricity put into the place we bought along with one son. It will be great because we will finally be able to get in there and do some decent work - such as painting and adding light fixtures. The road is all mud and continues to be such a problem and that will be worked on fairly soon - when we see all the mud it just reminds us of how tough the mountain pioneers lived. They had months of virtually no travel possible and no supplies until it would dry out enough for a wagon to get through. They didn't nag about running water and electricity and no heat.
Good morning everyone. This is a cold day. We woke up in the night with the dogs going wild. I thought maybe another moose was in the field, rolled over and went back to sleep. When I got up this morning there was a strange car in the driveway and it too a bit for me to connect the pieces. We have a trailer parked on our property. The owner of the property say that their son would be up at some point to stay for holidays. That is who was here upsetting the dogs. I am wondering how cold he is....it is so cold out at night.
John is off to work again. It was so nice having him home. We got a lot accomplished despite the effects of the flu going through the house.
This is the last week for cadets, at least formally. On Saturday they have the annual inspection and the CO's dinner. The dinner is a formal affair and the cadets look good all dressed up in their uniforms. Both Kassie and Elizabeth will be promoted to the rank of Sargent. From here on in the ranks have to be worked for and are not automatically granted.
I have the lawns to mow, but I think I will wait till tomorrow. The forecast is for a warmer day. We still have the plants in the garden covered, and I will uncover them in the morning. This was the first time in our (North Bay) history that we had snow on the 31st of May.
Has anyone heard from Janet? We are continuing to pray for them
Pat how are Norm and Judy? Let Judy know we are praying
Also Let Cathy know we are praying for our cousin.
Hi everyone. It is going to be up to 90 degrees here today and is already getting pretty warm. I only need to be outside again to go to my Monday men's luncheon and then to get the mail and can stay in the rest of the day. I already walked for today.
I am trying to set up some medical appointments for later this month. Nothing urgent, just routine like checking my pacemaker/defibulator and I have a growth on my lip that needs to be removed.
I have also been thinking about Janet and Beth and the family. Pat, I don't think I knew about your cousin's daughter. It sounds like such a sad situation.
Liz, there is no accounting for some people. Hope you didn't let that bother you.
Pat, thanks for the good devotional for this week.
Larry you can send some of that heat up here, We are running our furnaces it is so cold. Very unusual for this time of year.
Those of you who don't know about Rachael check out the Prayer and Praise. I will post there to put it at the top of the list.
Be praying for the folks in Sudbury there is a level 3 emergency at one of the mines called by the fire department. We don't have any further information. But the home owners have to turn off all furnaces, air conditioners and close all windows and doors.

Time sure does fly....5/12ths of 2009 is in the past!
My A/C man is here and checking to see if the diagnosis of a new pc board and a transforming is what is needed to get my A/C working again.
Seems we aren't being able to have lunch together for Kaye Don's birthday. His 74th birthday was yesterday. I couldn't today because of the A/C man. Tomorrow is Beef and Boards and can't tomorrow. So it looks like Wednesday...unless the A/C man will be coming back then! Oh, well! Ivalou and I had a nice long visit with him and Barb yesterday afternoon. That is what counts.
Nice day today in Indiana. Kind of cloudy but the temperature is comfortable.
My prayers are for all who are sick and ailing and for their families and loved ones. ?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

Judy, what does a level 3 emergency mean? And why do all the energy sources have to be turned off in the area? It sounds frightening! Of course, we know the Lord is in charge, but imagine those unfortunate people who don't know Him!
Update on Judy and Norm McKenna...
I was just speaking to Judy in the Henderson Hospital and she's been speaking to Norm on the phone.
It seems now that the massive heart attack didn't happen in the home but only the bleed did. Then when they transferred him to Hamilton General Hospital for the surgery on his brain, the heart attack happened on the operating table and they saw it happening on all the machinery, etc. and were able to use the paddles, etc. and Judy has been told that had he not been in the O.R., he would have died at that time.
Today, they have taken the drain out of his brain and he now has stitches in his head. His speech is slurred a bit and the cardiologist is coming in to check on the extent of the heart attack.
So, keep the prayers going heavenward for this couple.
Larry, Here's the link (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=8191.0;all) to read about Rachael.
And you can also read her story on Caring Bridge here:
http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/rachael
OK I just got the update on the Level 3 Emergency. There was a sulfuric leak. It has now been contained and the situation has been downgraded. The Fire department is still on the scene, but they don't feel there is any more reason for public concern.
Pat Norm was in God's hands with his health. Any idea what the prognosis is now?
Right now, with Norm, it's a waiting situation to keep monitoring him, Judy.
Pat, thanks for the link. I now remember reading about Rachael when you posted that information. I had just forgotten. Thanks also for the info on Norm and Judy. Sure wish we would hear something from Janet.
It is 11:00 PM and it has been a very quiet day here on CP.
I found out tonight that Elizabeth didn't finish the level to get her promotion. Natural consequences have taken effect. I like it when that happens. She is sad but understands.
It is still quite cold up here. This is so unusual.
Well I am off to bed.
Love and prayers to all.
Fotobirder: Wonderful picture! Thank you and
Pat: Thanks for highlighting the picture from Fotobirder!
JudyB: Sorry that Elizabeth is feeling sad. You said :Natural Consequences happened. Sometimes that can be a great learning experience - I don't know the situation. Our daughter & family saw two moose over the weekend as they were driving in the mountains. Moose rarely come down this far but I have seen elk in the edges of the city and cougars are spotted more often. They are fearless. Do you have cougars?
I just wrote a note to Don's cousins in Michigan. The government has taken over GM and insisting on closing plants and I hope that someone knows what they are doing - very stressed people who are suffering. \\
39* windchill here today. The temp is in the low 40's and we have to have a wind because it is impossible to just have a nice and gentle rain here.
Hi everyone. It is truly a beautiful day here. After coffee we went to our local park to walk as there is an activity at the church gym. The weather was just right for walking outside and the park has lots of nice new sidewalks and also places to sit down and rest.
Carol, the Federal Government has done few things well over history. I am not optimistic. Have you seen the piece that appeared in Pravda (Russian newspaper) describing their shock at how fast America is rushing away from capitalism. I don't think we have seen anything yet. Don't mean to be political but this is the way I feel.
Judy, I think we let our children learn life lessons when they find out that things have consequences. Disappointment does not crush spirit but often gives us new resolve to meet the challenges.
Not much on my schedule today. I will attend a meeting this morning and then stay in where it is cool.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FRedRose.gif&hash=c13ac1835f5fc19c767ec93419680b3462866ebd)
Prayers are going heavenward for Norm, Judy, Janet and Jane. Jane do be careful!
Kaye Don has stock...75cents a share now..and gets his retirement from GM. Ivalou gets her husbands retirement from GM. All three of us have savings at GMAC. Kaye Don and Ivalou have no medical or drug plans through GM since the first of the year. Slowly GM is pulling away from them. Scary.
I have been calling my class members. I am having a picnic/weiner roast in the woods the 13th. Same ol' thing. Those who never show up, are busy. Those who are always around, will be here.
The A/C man was here and I am to get a new A/C unit with a heat pump. That will help with my bottle gas bill in the winter also. I doubt if it will pay for itself in my life time though. Wasn't planning on purchasing a new A/C unit but thank God, I have the money without getting into my savings. They will be here Friday and Saturday installing it...told them I trust them to lock up while I am having surgery.
Ivalou has cut my hair this morning and I have showered. Tonight is Beef and Boards and we are to see 'Annie'. I love the musicals and the dancing!
I may wish I had my A/C today. It is 82° already but the weatherbug also says the high today is to be 82°!! I am thinking it will be higher than that. But it is still very comfortable in here with some ceiling fans going and one oscillating fan. »ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏïS«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«

hello everyone,
just thought i'd let youknow i'm still around i know i haven't been online very much just got finished with school a couple of weeks ago then its been moving and what not... i hope all is well with all ya'll
Sarah
Good to see you Sarah. Come back sooner to say hello.
I have been busy in the kitchen and still want to make some banana muffins home cooking for auntie, tomorrow we are doing a little shopping flowers for the garden a few groceries and yes we must have lunch together.
Judy: The snow drops just arrived how I have no idea but they are beautiful.
Have a great afternoon.
Ruth
I've been busy today, Shampooed my hair, it takes forever to dry even with a hair dryer, it is getting so long now, about 2.5 inches above my waist. I typed out the instructions for the feeding and bathing of the dogs (Happy has a prescription shampoo) and called to make their reservations for boarding when we leave for vacation next week Saturday. They told me to bring the feeding and bathing instructions, collars/harnesses and leashes for walks, their beds and enough food for their stay. They will be all bathed and clean when we pick them up.
I am just back from walking both of them, one at a time , climbing these hills is getting to be a real chore, with my asthma. I have to make sure I use my inhaler before we go and also suck on a cough drop while we are walking, first uphill turn the corner then downhill, turn another and down some more then across the Baptist church parking lot and back up again to reach our street. These are also long block not the regular city size blocks.
It is 59° now so it is comfortable to walk in short sleeves. When I first moved north to McKinleyville in 2003 from Lucerne Valley I thought 59° was cold, It was 120° in the shade the day I left the desert, July 12, 2003.
Well back to working on my PSP lessons
Stopping in for a minute to say hello!
Nothing exciting has been happening (thank goodness) so not much to talk about. Went carpet bowling yest. and won my game. That was not especially exciting.....
Today I bought the Auslogics program that Etta Sue mentioned. Have used the trial and really like it. My almost 7 yr. old Sony has shown a real power spurt! I bought the Sony VAIO new and it was a smart purchase. :)
Have been thinking about Beth and little Rachael. Guess since Janet has not posted, things are probably not great. Will continue to pray for everyone.
It was nice seeing you in here Sarah. Hope married life is great and all is wonderful in your world.
The news has become so sad. It is like a whole new world has suddenly taken the place of everything that was familiar and safe. We are experiencing lots of layoffs in the lumber industry and many families are hurting. Also many are breaking apart....
Here on the island, we are having a heat wave. Temps. in the high 80's F. and not usual for June. More like August. I am not complaining, but find it more comfortable just sitting in shade in the garden. Poor Judy is freezing and we are melting.
I waited until a bit ago for my walk (7 P.M.) and only just got back. Still really hot out there!
Facebook is still a puzzle and I am not going to do any I.Q. tests, thanks very much. Once had a very high I.Q., but my brain tends to hibernate now and not about to find out how much of it is missing.
Time to go. Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Hi everyone. It looks like I will be first to post with for today. It is a few minutes before leaving for coffee. We probably won't walk this morning since it is Bible study at the church at 9:30 and a couple of our group attend. We are getting close to the end of the study of the Book of Romans.
Other than choir practice this evening, after the morning at Bible study and some visiting afterwards, I have no other plans.
Sarah, nice to see you posting and I expect you were glad to see the end of the school year. Where did you move to?
Marilyn, that astma doesn't sound very pleasant at all. That is something I have never had to deal with personally or within my immediate family. It sounds like you are getting things well organized before your vacation.
Etta Sue, I bet you will notice a big change with a new A/C. Is it only a heat pump for both the heating and A/C? It is a different type of heating, particularly, and I had some problem getting used to it. Hope you really like. Hope you enjoyed Annie. There is some good music in it.
Hi Ruth and Liz.
Time to leave for coffee.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FCatwinking2.gif&hash=6cfc6dda089053f3d1ca837ceeb08a0b7efeb06c)
Us ladies that go to Beef and Boards like to get there early. It was my turn to drive and it rained on us on I-465. But it stopped when we got there and walked into the theater without rain. While we were waiting in the lobby it started pouring down rain. I couldn't even see my car in the parking lot. The tree limbs were all dancing around. The wind was really strong. And before the curtain opened and we could go into the dinner theater, the sun came out!!
'Annie' is a great show. The little girl that played 'Annie' is a local little girl. Beautiful little girl and a beautiful voice. As usual, at Beef and Boards, I didn't hear or see a falter. And Daddy Warbucks voice...gave me goose bumps, he is so good! And Miss Hargety...so outlandishly funny with her facial expressions and actions. Reminded us of Carol Burnett. Great show. I really enjoyed it.
Then one of the ladies works as a greeter at a funeral home and I took her to her car. The parking lot was full of leaves that the wind had blown off the trees and on farther north, there were stop lights out and dark homes and streets. But the closer to home the less water, no leaves on the ground and all the lights were on. In my drive, it was wet but dry where a maple tree hangs over the drive. All in a 20 mile drive.
It is raining today though...gentle rain.
Now I have to purchase a new coffee maker. I made my coffee this morning and while reading my devotions, I thought...I forgot my coffee. So I got up and the coffee maker was on but no coffee made. I thought...I probably forgot to put water in it so I added water and it overflowed!! I unplugged it...turned it off...plugged it back in...turned it on...nothing. So now a new coffee maker is in the makes!
I think we are going out to eat today with Kaye Don and Barb...I haven't heard anything yet. And I must clean house today. Hopefully tomorrow I can mow the yard and Friday get the beginnings of the A/C unit and surgery!
Larry ~ All I know is the unit is A/C and a heat pump. He thought it was all temperature control and if it goes below the temp set, the heat pump turns on. If it goes above the temp set, the A/C turns on. He also said that it will change from high BTU's to lower BTU's depending on how hot it is or cold it is. I am probably not explaining it right...just sound more energy efficient to me and that I like!:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Hi, friends, I'm back from Atlanta. My granddaughter's kindergarten commencement was really cute, and of course she looked beautiful in her pale mint green colored dress and white sandals. It surprised me to know she has read 50 books this year and is now reading on 3rd grade level! At this rate, wonder how young she'll be when she enters college! :)
I'm certainly tired. I'll be heading to bed right away, methinks.
More tomorrow. Prayers for both Beth and little Rachael.
Prayer Meeting was wonderful tonight.
And it was good to see that they were all praying for Judy and Norm McKenna and also for our Rachael (who is very low now.)
Paul left for Virginia but he wants to be back in time for my birthday as we have a wedding to also attend on June 13.
Busy, busy!
You easterners are a sleepy bunch! I'm the first one in here, and it's already 6:46 here, meaning it's 9:46 there. Now come on, don't keep me so lonely!
Now, Al! Stop picking on us easterners! I'm almost as "eastern" US as you can get and I'm here!
I'm going to assume that I woke you, Jeanne! That's called a grauitous assumption. Anyway, I'm glad you're here. Good morning!
Hi everyone. Postings are slow here the last couple of days. It is misty and light rain here today. We didn't walk this morning as the gym is being used by the church for a summer camp this week.
Also, I needed to remake some sponsor certificates for the Golden Games as I had met the head of the games at McDonald's this morning to give him one he had asked me to make. However he told me he had sent an e-mail I didn't get to add his name and title to 3 other certificates. So he stopped by and I remade them so he could take them with him.
My schedule is clear for the rest of the day. Last evening I ordered the little box for Netflix that will let us watch what they have available online for instant viewing on our big TV. It picks up a wireless signal from streaming video and they have over 12,000 different older movies, TV series, etc. available. This will be part of Pat's birthday gift but she is getting it early so she can go ahead and start enjoying it.
Etta Sue, it sounds like your timing was perfect in terms of the rain. I remember watching Carol Burnett in the movie and she was good. Glad you all enjoyed the show.
Ruth Ann, your granddaughter must be very bright and also getting a lot of encouragement from her parents to read. Glad you had a nice trip to Atlanta.
Pat, you and Paul are going to know the roads back and forth really well.
Hi Al and Jeanne.
Al, your gratuitous assumption was eminently erroneous! Now that I've depleted my vocabulary, I'll just say "Good morning everyone!"
It's sunny and pretty, and promises to get almost up to our normal high temperature this afternoon. :) :)
Al: I was awake and in the living room around 3 AM :( and did get back to sleep so all is well.
I inadvertently left out the mesh container for coffee and it is grainy on the cup bottom.
Don is off for another all-day meeting. I need to get in gear. They are mowing the lawns today - I love it yet miss some of the it but I don't miss it that much. All those years that Don was away on business trips, I mowed or shoveled snow and really do not miss the frozen fingers.

I have already been to Dollar General...I forgot milk yesterday.
I found another place for Mexican. A restaurant in Pendleton that serves all foods. But I got a burrito and it was delicious. Then when leaving Kaye Don asked Barb where Mindy lived....my third cousin that I maybe met when she was a little girl who is now married with two teenage girls. So Barb called and we went to Mindy's house. Seems her Dad, my second cousin, and his wife are here from Florida and Steve is remodeling Mindy's kitchen. He was in the process of cutting the hole in the formica to install a stainless steel sink. Two engineers and three hours later and they only had one side cut in the formica! I kept telling them 'Cut...just don't cut too big!' Engineers have to be so precise!
Then when I got home, I went to Dollar General...and forgot milk.
My plans today is getting photos ready to install at church. Eat a bite of lunch. Weed eat. Mow. Weed eat some more. Sweep the garage. Shower and wash hair. Enhance photos and choose 4 for Guild for Monday night. Go out to eat at 10pm!!! I can't eat anything after midnight and only clear liquids from midnight to 7am. And nothing at all after 7am. So Ivalou and I are going to Steak and Shake tonight.
That's it!<: )) ))><<~~> <: )) ))><<~~< <: )) ))><<~~<

I remember being in Pennsylvania over one Christmas, and the snow was up to the bottom branches of the trees. My aunt and uncle's house had maybe 5-6 steps to the ground when you went out the back door, and distinctly remember how strange it was to climb over the little porch railing right onto the snow (and it held us up!!). I've always been grateful that it's never been that snowy here in Nashville.
Have we heard from Janet yet? I'm so concerned about them. Thank you, Pat, for keeping us up to date on Norm and Judy as well as Rachael.
Etta Sue, best wishes for your surgery tomorrow.
Today's chiropractor and laundry day. Better get that laundry done prior to the long drive to the doctor! Gotta go...
Good morning all. I also came in to see if there was word from Janet yet. I'm praying with everyone else.
It's raining here again, so there won't be any outside work for me. I'll go pick up some groceries...some for me, some for the dogs, and some for the cat.
As happens with me often, I've been feeling very quiet lately. Doing a lot of praying and waiting....
Etta Sue I owe you an email. :)
Have a blessed day all who read this. And all who don't too...lol Let's just all give glory to our Father and receive His blessings for this day.
Oh Al Jeanne and I were chasing each other around the photos this morning at about 9:00 eastern, That would make it about 6:00 your time! LOL often I am up and reading and lurking.
It is a warm sunny day today. At last we have some nice weather. I have to mow but before I do that I need to mend the bug jacket. It has a small tear in it.
I had a man come to the door yesterday. Never met him but just knew what his last name was. Isn't it interesting how genes work. Some are so dominant, that you look at a person and know what family he belongs to. Oh that when people look at us and know who our Father is. Sadly that is not the way with many.
Must run, Have a great day everyone.
Hi Everyone...
Been a busy morning here today.
And now I'm off to Kitchener to pick up my passport. Paul got to Winchester, VA at about 2 am and is now a very busy person selecting carpet for the house and then he's off to Falls Church to busy himself there before leaving on Tuesday to head to his daughter's home and then up here for my birthday! Then we have a wedding next weekend and then I'll head back down there.
By the way, Ruth Ann, I was in the shower and came out and found that my computer had two radio stations on and a game I was playing (Christmas music) and I found out that you had paged me. Not sure how I replied to you while in the shower but wonders never cease!!! HAHAHA! Sorry I missed your call.
Good Morning everyone. I see Jeanne and All were up early today trading quips with each other. <3
This weekend I must start getting ready for our trip next week. I need take out the clothing I want to take and see what I really NEED to take; we try to pack light on personal stuff so we can take enough food. There isn't a lot of room in the back of the Corvette to take a lot of extra stuff we don't need. Keith mentioned that we might take the Camaro this year so he can take his own bicycle. They do furnish bicycles with every unit though.
I also have to order my medication as I will be running out before we come home, I just hope the pharmacy/ My Part D insurance will let me get one of them early. I have gathered up all the dogs things that will need to go with them and I will be taking them to be boarded the morning of the 13th and we will be leaving before noon that same day.
It is looking pretty gloomy out there today, 55° rain lightly falling. Just enough to keep it wet. Yesterday when walking the dogs we got only a few drops on us, Happy got more on him that I got on me.
Well I have things to do so I better get started. Have a very Blessed Day.
I've been pretty quiet here, as well. Sorry, but I just can't bring myself to even mention any of the happenings in my life while I know others are experiencing such trauma.
I read here daily and pray as I read and otherwise.
I am carless at the moment but thank God for wonderful neighbors who are willing to drive me around if I need it. Monday, they took me to pay rent and pick up a prescription and Tuesday to get groceries. I think I have enough to last a while so I won't have to bother them again.
Yesterday another friend sent her husband over with a pickup truck load of fire wood! I told him to just toss it in the shed and I'll stack it myself. That gives me a project to keep me out of mischief.
I will take it slowly since I am still healing from the fall on the UP escalator at the Sacramento airport on Saturday. :o Aaahhh well, I am grateful I have time for such things.
Y'all have a good day and I'll be back to check on you from time to time.
Jane don't think that the trauma of others makes your life any less important. You are loved here and we are waiting to hear your news.
Well .... The rain is getting more intense now so I have decided to delay my wood stacking project for another time.
I think I told y'all about my accident on the way to Sacramento, CA a couple weeks ago (May 20). My car was a total loss and I spent the next 10 days at Joy's, and on the phone back and forth with the insurance company and the "repair shop" where the car had been towed.
During that time, I was able to visit with some of my grandkids and great grands. Even took a trip to Yountville, with a grandson and his son and Joy, to visit with Tom on Memorial Day.
Joy and I looked about for a replacement car for me and I finally decided I just didn't feel comfortable driving back to Oregon so... I got a plane ticket.
Saturday morning Joy took me to the airport and dropped me off (not too hard, it didn't hurt ;) ) and I picked up my boarding pass and started toward the upper level and Gate 26.
I had just stepped on the escalator when I lost my balance and fell backwards --- Now you must realize the escalator was moving upwards and I was going along FEET FIRST and head down! I began yelling "Help me!" and trying desparately to get myself righted before we reached the top. (I could just see me being ground up by the teeth!).
The escalator was stopped and I was helped off and sat in a chair while the EMTs gathered around. All I could think of was to get on that plane and get home!! My left forearm got "chewed" a bit and there is a deep gash on my left leg. All that was bandaged and my vitals were checked -- again --(because I had just had that done a few daze earlier after the car wrecked) and I was able to proceed on to the gate for departure.
Well, that was a very painful and upsetting journey, I can tell you. My trip took me to Seattle, and a change of planes, before coming to Eugene, OR where my neighbors were waiting to bring me on home to Coos Bay.
At Seattle, I discovered I would have to go down two flights of stairs and up a ramp to the airplane. I don't do stairs very well under the best of circumstances and for sure didn't feel much like attempting these while toting my suitcase and carry on bag!
A nice lady noticed I had a cane (and blood soaked bandages) and told me I could request the elevator so .... that's what I did.
All in all, this last trip to California was pretty traumatizing for this old woman!
I am grateful for so much, though.
The insurance company is paying me enough for my car that I will be able to get another one without much problem (SOME DAY!) and I was not badly injured. In fact, I walked away from the car accident without a scratch! I did not hit another car, the car did not roll over, it was a barbed wire fence that I went through and not a cement wall or over a cliff ... blessings in disguise.
If I had been driving my old Neon it was not worth anything and I'd never realized anything from it. God knew all about what was going to happen and He protected me as well as my bank account.
I am blessed. ;)
Jane, we thank Him for protecting you in the car accident and for keeping your injuries from the fall on the escalator to a minimum. When it's time for you to get another car, He will lead you to one that He has already chosen. Isn't it wonderful to know that our God is in charge - all the time!
Yes Jane I am so glad you told us all the details. That was traumatic trip to be sure. Just know that you were prayed for during that time.
Jeanne you are right God IS in charge ALL the time!
I have always trusted my life to My Father's care ... and He is totally in control -- of everything, all the time! The only time I was even frightened was when I envisioned myself being eaten alive by that escalator! Shoulda known better 'cause Father would be there for that, too, but I didn't have time to think and was still very nervous from the incident of the 20th. Well, that's my excuse, anyway.
Just checking in to see if there is anything from Janet.
Etta Sue: You must have most or all of your relatives living nearby. A 3rd. cousin? I would have to go to Sweden to visit with my third cousins. LOL on your going in the dollar store and forgetting milk. The dollar store here doesn't carry all the dairy and produce that we found at the one in Arizona.
Ruth Ann: Smart of you to do the laundry first before you go to the chiropractor. The new washer & dryers sit up so high and that makes sense except I don't have the room for those big, expensive models.
Marilyn: Enjoy your trip in the Corvette or Camaro!
Jane: You certainly did the right thing in yelling for help - with your head and arms down in that position it would really be hard to get up - or even your clothes could have been caught. Really scary.
JudyB; Sometimes you can just tell by looking at a shining, contented and happy face that that person has accepted the grace we are given. There are some people who just have the look!
Yesterday Auntie and myself purchased flowers for our gardens/flower boxes etc. We then purchased a Tim Hortons steeped tea and drank that in her back yard a lovely way to end the day.
Today a little different the sewer folk were doing their thing right in front of our home so we needed to put a veh. on the street until their quitting time in the mean time they cut a major phone cable so we were without phone service for the afternoon. Thank goodness for cell phones if needed.
I am remembering all the folk in need.
Ruth
Hi everyone. I have also been waiting for some word from Janet. I hope she knows we are all very concerned and praying for them. This must be so difficult for everyone involved.
Jane, what a harrowing trip you had but God was obviously looking out for you as you know. Glad you are home and you will be able to get another car.
Carol, several years ago Pat was having troubles with her back and we had a platform built for our dryer. It is about 18 inches high and certainly makes loading and unloading much easier. It is just a wooden box with carpeting on it and it has worked extremely well.
Pat, it sounds like you and Pat continue to have a very, very busy schedule.
Time to leave for coffee and morning activities.

I just called Janet. I looked at my list of CP members and I had penciled in Janet's cell number. Beth and her are in Wichita...they couldn't get her in Amarillo. Beth has had several surgeries...the last few being on her side where gangrene has set in. There was also a hole in her intestine leaking fecal matter into her. She has several (6, I think) infections that are all life threatening. The last surgeries they have not closed her up because they feel they will need further surgeries. Beth is conscientious and coherent. She has a pleasant attitude and everyone is wonderful to her and Janet in Wichita. Janet is now staying at the Ronald McDonald house. Darrell has gone back home so Janet is there alone with Beth. She told me that she has no access to a computer but to tell all of you that she thinks about you and miss all of you. I told her to take care of herself and remember that all of us will have Beth and her in our prayers and to tell Beth we all love her. Janet and Beth need cyber hugs!
Carol ~ As for relatives...Fact is I saw my 2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins in that house! It is my Great Great Grandparents that came from Ireland and England on that side of the family. My Grandmother was a Murphy! Grandfather was an Everitt. So all the descendants are here now.
Back to me! I am thirsty and hungry! But I can't eat or drink anything! I did get all of what I wanted to do yesterday done and even made a couple loaves of Zucchini Bread. Ivalou and I went to Steak and Shake last night at 10pm. We were like giggly school girls...acting like we were doing something we shouldn't be doing. Can't remember the last time were ate supper at 10pm!! It was fun.
Now I am waiting on the A/C man to come. He said he had to go to another town and come here after that. Just hope he is here by 1:30pm!
I got a call from the Surgery Center this morning saying that Medicare sent the surgery center bill for April to my second and third insurance and both paid...so the surgery center has an over payment!!! She gave me a number to call at Medicare to let them know which is second and third. They tell me that they send to both so if there was an overpayment to let the surgery center know which one is third and pay them back!! What a ring around!!
Beautiful day in Indiana. I sat outside at my bistro table and read my devotions but got too cold. When I got online, I noticed it was only 59°.
I thanked God in my prayers this morning for the cool weather since my A/C has quit on me! I've been praying for you this morning, Etta Sue. Today is the big day!! A new life, without worrying how far away from home you can get. :) I sure know how that feels, as I told you.
Thank you, too, for letting us know about Beth. My heart just goes out to her and Janet. I've been praying for them this morning also. I hope Janet can feel our prayers covering her. I'm sure her church members are keeping this bathed in prayer, so she is just soaked in prayer. Bless her heart. Beth has gone through so much with this disease, and Janet has been there going through it too. God must surely strengthen her and give her His grace to carry on.
Thank you for the news on Janet and Beth. We will continue to pray.
John has just come in from his week's work and is off until 4:00 Sunday then is heading out to Chanhassen MN. That will be a good trip.
Bye for now May God bless you all.
Still praying for Janet and Beth.
Thanks Etta Sue for the update on Beth. I will be praying for you too.
I'm thankful to learn the update on Beth and Janet, Etta Sue. Thank you for calling her.
Well, my son feels well enough to work at the house this afternoon, so I'm going to cook a nice lunch for us and then put on my "workin duds" . :)
Y'all have a great rest of the day.
Ruth Ann
Etta Sue, thanks so much for calling Janet. My heart aches for her, to see her dear daughter go through so much. My prayers continue for Janet and Beth and all the family for the comfort of our Lord's loving arms.
Thanks so very much, Etta Sue, for grabbing the bull by the horns and going ahead and calling Janet. It sounds very much to me like this may be the beginning of the end for Beth in this life. But she has a far better life to come! It is indeed in our Lord's hands to continue her here as His servant in suffering or to take her to be where He is. I pray He'll comfort her and Janet as well, and that He'll make it obvious that He's right there with them and His wonderful Hand is upon them. Oh God, let them experience Your love through Jesus our Lord.
Etta Sue: We all appreciate your phone call to Janet. She and Beth are constantly in our minds and in our prayers.
Al: Your post is a loving message for all of us. Thank you for sharing your prayer.
Don went to buy the license plate for a 3 year old used car - over $800 - Colorado just cannot ding a person enough on those plates! He about dropped when he heard the amount. And, they want you to buy the smaller good gas mileage cars - so why are we then zapped? They have no excuse as far as I am concerned.
Our daughter can't find work so she volunteers for a food pantry every Tuesday & brings one of her children over to work as well. It is good for the children to meet the people in need.
Larry: A very nice idea to lift the washer & dryer for Pat's back problems. Really, the front loaders are built so low that it isn't good. How is your newer car? We bought a 3 year old Sentra & the mileage has been great - easy to park in the city too.
I am still trying to learn to knit & was able for the very first time to fix an error - otherwise, I just have ignored it and the work has been pitiful but they are not gifts. You can't talk to me when I am doing a row though - the pattern is complicated enough to be interesting but I can't memorize the entire row.
Etta Sue: I just read that this is your big day as well. Prayers on the way!
Wonder how Etta Sue is doing? I want everything to go just perfect for her. <3
Good night everyone. I have read all the posts and am praying for the needs expressed and those not.
Tomorrow is the big day for the girls. The Annual Inspection is at 1:00 and CO's dinner at 6:30. The real hard part is that the girls have to be at the arena for 9:00am to prepare and we have to amuse ourselves somehow. Gas is too expensive to double trip. Kass is getting her promotion and because Elizabeth isn't she has been talking about refusing it so they stay at the same level. We are encouraging her to keep progressing as it is more her 'thing" than Elizabeth's.
It's late I am heading to bed. Night all
:) Hi to all. I cannot believe that I have not been on the site since the 11th. of May. We have had a very busy time since then. We are looking after our grandson two days a week and then we go up to our son's and also baby sit and it is a sure way to get to know the kids well.
We have also had many doctors app. for many different reasons ::)
Our mini van was leased so we decided to look into turning it in early and buying a used vehicle. So we went to the dealer and put an offer in and we ended up with a 1 year old Grand caravan by Dodge it has very low milage and we are very happy with it.
My wife has gone to Women of Faith conference with her sister's and a 91 year old lady who you cant keep down so please pray for them that they will be challenged and strengthend in there spiritual walk also that Noreen will be able to enjoy it.
I will try to stay more efficient to being on the site. God's richest blessings. <3

Thank you for all the prayers.
Surgery went fine. At first they were saying that he might just put in the permanent wires and me wear an external stimulator but I have the complete Interstim Therapy now. I was put under and then woke up so I could tell them where I could feel the stimulation...I don't remember that at all...then put back under to put in the stimulator. We left the surgery center around 5:40pm. Of course, I was hungry so we went to Bob Evans. Kaye Don met Ivalou, Barb and I there. I was given an RX for an antibiotic and they called it in to Lapel CVS. I asked when the drug store closed...Barb said 7pm and it was 6:50. So Barb called the drug store and asked Tammy if she would take my RX to her house and Ivalou would pick it up. She did and Ivalou did. I guess it pays to live in a small town! Today I have to go to Lapel to pay for the drug!
I went to bed early...early for me. I felt like I had slept all night long but it was 2 something when I woke up congested and coughing. I sounded like a bull frog. Probably due to my lungs not working great while under. I finally got up at 5:30 and I am sucking on a Halls and have Vicks in my nostrils! Feel better.
And, oh, yes! My A/C is done and working great after reading the instructions. Expensive day at my house yesterday!!o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0

Hi everyone. Etta Sue, thanks so much for calling Janet and letting her know we are all thinking of them during these terrible trying times. Sure glad to read that your surgery went so well and know you are glad that it is over.
Carol, our new car is wonderful to drive and when I took it out on the road got about 34 miles to the gallon. I am getting 24 to 25 driving around locally. It is so comfortable, quiet and smooth to drive. It is a joy to drive compared to the car we did have.
Gord, good to see you posting--your postings have been missed.
Judy, hope your girls have a fine day today and that you find something to do for those waiting hours.
Ruth Ann, hope the work on the house went well yesterday.
We are suppose to have some nice weather this weekend and the first of the week. Last evening we meet friends at a Mexican Restrurant for dinner. It was a last minute thing as hadn't been planned. We enjoyed it.
Etta Sue, I'm so glad your surgery went well and that, in spite of coughing and congestion, you are feeling better. <3
Today it looks like we may be getting some normal June weather at last. The sun is shining and it's already near 60. :)
Hi, friends, It's really good to hear your surgery went well, Etta Sue. I surely hope the "bullfrog effect" clears up right away.
A friend who turns 70 today doesn't know it yet, but in about an hour, a whole bunch of friends are going to surprise her with a drop-in "tea" to celebrate with her. This lady has no children, is widowed, and disabled. So, in actuality, her Christian friends are her family.
How wonderful it is that we all are members of the Family of God!
I don't know how to post the links to the music files, but it would be great to listen to that beautiful song. It's one of my favorites. :)
My son got LOTS done yesterday - some goodwill donations, an van filled with boxes to take back to tthe apartment to go through.
And, I filled some totes to bring back to my apt along with a pretty old carved chair I have just the right spot for in my bedroom.
May God's richest blessing be with us all, and may the loving, comforting Arms of our Father encircle Janet, Beth, and family as they endure this time of terrible illness.
Y'all have a good day.
It's so sad to read about Beth. Thanks Etta Sue for phoning Janet. I've been praying for them but it's good to know now where she is and all the details.
Good to see you Gord. Yep! It's been that long! ;)
During this time of sadness and illness, this may be a nice one to listen to:
That is such a beautiful song. Thanks Pat! Sometimes I find it hard to remember this.....living without the comfort that comes from church and Christian fellowship can turn one a tad cynical at times. Thank goodness this site helps.
I am glad that your operation was a success, Etta Sue. Feel so badly for Beth and Janet. Glad that there was an update on what is happening.
Just stopped in for a minute to read. Must go and start dinner for the kids. Made an apple pie for my SIL as he likes that. Pasta, salad and veg., with homemade meatballs, for dinner. We are having a cooler day today and it is sure welcome after so much heat the past few days.
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Pat, I've always loved that song. How appropriate at this time. thanks for posting the link.
Mine has been a day of relaxation, for the most part I spent the afternoon outdoors reading, yes I finished planting my flowers so now I will watch them grow.
I tried placing a couple of phone calls and no one was home so will try another day and time.
:) Good evening to all. Had a very busy day as my nephews were here overnight and we played a round of golf today and had fun we only played the back nine holes. Also my son-in law has had son very bad back problems for the last few days so it has been hard to look after his son. But thanks to the chiropractor and many prayers he is getting better.
Etta Sue: I am so glad to here that your surgery went well. Do take things easy and don't overdo it.
Paul and Pat. Are you in the states or are you in Guelph? I am leaving for Chesapeake on Wednesday the 10th. and if you are down in Virginia we may be able to see you. So let me know very soon. God bless Sis.
Good night to all and have a blessed and God filled weekend. Gord.and Noreen. <3
Hello to all.
I know it has been a long time since I have posted. In case you don't remember who I am; I am Pat's neice and Judy's daughter.
Aunt Pat could you please let Rachel know I am praying for her? I can't imagine what she is going through.

I am all ready for church and have some time on my hands. I slept so much better last night. So much better.
Yesterday Ivalou filled her car up with gas, we both got money at the ATM machine, we ate at Woody's and then went to the drug store so I could pay for my antibiotic. She went in a Dollar General but I was pooped from getting in and out of the car and didn't go in.
Kitty brought Ivalou and I Taco Salad and Cherry Pie. How sweet of her! It was delicious!
Then after 24 hours I could take the bandage off and take a shower. You know how much better it feels when you remove the bandaid with cotton under it after a blood test. Well, this bandage was very thick and it was such a relief to get it off. Almost instantly the pain was gone! And that was one reason for a good nights rest. I woke up once because I was too hot. But only got up twice in the night and that's great for me!
Today is church, Sunday School, eat out, then I am helping my friend in Mexico to fix his computer...with Skype. Then Tony and Charlene are coming this evening!
Beautiful day....and God is Good!~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@

Etta Sue, a suggestion that might help you help your friend in Mexico fix his computer. There is a great program called LogMeIn. They have a free version, which I use, and it allows you to be able to take control of another computer and see their screen and work their mouse. Each computer installs the software and each has a unique password. It can be set so that even when the other person knows the password permission must be granted by the receiving party. I used this when my sister-in-law had Internet access to keep her computer up-to-date. I have tried to help a number of people by talking them through things on the phone and it is really difficult as their screen looks different, etc. Good luck in your efforts. Glad you are feeling well so quickly.
I am ready for church but it is still about 90 minutes before we will leave. Today is Communion Sunday and the choir is doing a anthem related to Communion right before Communion.
I continue to pray for Beth and Janet and Rachel. A tough time for these people that we care about.
Etta Sue I am so pleased for you. What a blessing!
Melaura Thank you.
HAve god day Folks!
Well, let's get started early. Go here to continue on: http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=8583.msg134608#msg134608
