Morning Devotional...

Living by Faith in the Night

Verse

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 42:11

To do His supreme work of grace within you He will take from your heart everything you love most. Everything you trust in will go from you. Piles of ashes will lie where your most precious treasures used to be. . . . All this God will accomplish at the expense of the common pleasures that have up to that time supported your life and made it zestful. Now under the careful treatment of the Holy Spirit your life may become dry, tasteless and to some degree a burden to you. While in this state you will exist by a kind of blind will to live; you will find none of the inward sweetness you had enjoyed before. The smile of God will be for the time withdrawn, or at least hidden from your eyes. Then you will learn what faith is; you will find out the hard way, but the only way open to you, that true faith lies in the will, that the joy unspeakable of which the apostle speaks is not itself faith but a slow-ripening fruit of faith; and you will learn that present spiritual joys may come and go as they will without altering your spiritual status or in any way affecting your position as a true child of the Heavenly Father. And you will also learn, probably to your astonishment, that it is possible to live in all good conscience before God and men and still feel nothing of the "peace and joy" you hear talked about so much by immature Christians.

Thought

When the sense of His presense is withdrawn and your life seems to shatter; when you feel cold and dull spiritually, keep praying. Keep feeding on His Word. Keep walking by faith--naked faith. He is there. Trust Him.

Prayer

Lord, I find it difficult to walk by faith in the night. But You are teaching me. I can't see You but Your Spirit assures me You are there. Thank You.

Good morning!  May each of you have a blessed day as we worship the King of Kings!

I am going to Hugoton to church, and later to Liberal with my daughter to the Kansas Sampler Festival.  This is the last day of it.

Good morning.  Looks like it is going to be a great day today.

I am all ready for church.  I don't like to do this but I believe when I come home today, I am going to mow.  It is predicting rain tomorrow so I want to get my yard mowed before I have surgery!

No wind today and it looks hazy.  Maybe it's my eyes!  I will see clearly soon!!

Hi everyone.  We expect to have our normal Sunday.  I do hope that Pat feels up to attending church and then we will eat lunch out before coming home.  I think I heard them say there is a possibility of some rain in the forecast for this afternoon.  I sure hope so.

Judy, occasionally we will juse the hymn version of "Majesty" in our church service and our choir had an arrangement of it also.  It is certainly a wonderful hymn and with Gord's lovely accent I can almost hear him signing it.  That reminds me that we haven't heard from Gord recently.  Sure hope his hand hasn't given him new problems.  Also know he and Noreen keep busy with their family.

Etta Sue, I did receive the acceptance but so far the postings haven't shown up on my Facebook page.  Maybe I am not doing something right.  I am glad you are posting them here.  So sorry to hear of another terrible accident in your area.  I have to say that I really dislike motorcycles due to the safety factor.

Carol, are other neighbors having the same problems with their roofs?  I think I remember hearing you say that one contractor was doing several roofs in your area.

Marilyn, having to send back your ring must have been a disappointment.   Glad you noticed it was plastic in time to get the refund.

Janet, Pat and I went out in our driveway and looked at the moon between a couple of trees and it was quite bright.  I even got my iPad to see if I could get a picture but it was too dark.  I just read your newspaper writeup.  I didn't realize the book was now available as an ebook although I am glad to have the paperback version that is signed by you.  Hope you were able to get some rest.  I don't often go to a garage sale as we no longer need to be accumulating anything, our house is full and we are reaching the point of beginning of beginning to think about one day having to get rid of most of the things we have.

Don, thanks for the devotional for this week.

 Etta Sue, I have been remiss in not expressing to you my best wishes on your upcoming cataract surgery.  I hope your results are fantastic!  I had it done a few years ago, and have never regretted it.  Yes, your world will soon be brighter!

Larry, we have been getting rid of a lot of stuff, too, in fact, we have another pickup load to haul to the Senior center for their next garage sale.

Gotta run!

TRUST AND OBEY (http://members.rogers.com/scott4275/sounds/trustobey.mid)
(Click to hear music)

When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey,
for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

(Refrain)

But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

(Refrain)

Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.

(Refrain)

Thank you Don.

Pat hasn't been back on to CP so just to let you know the baby gas made it through the surgery.  They have to keep her hands tied down because she is pulling at all the tubes they have inserted.  They are slowly taking her off the morphine and as they do that they are praying she stops thrashing around.  They have taken Cayla Joy's breathing tube out.  Now she is learning to breathe on her own again.

This is a quiet day, with good weather.  I got a couple of pictures of the moon, but I am sure there will be more professional photos available,  I will post mine  soon.

Here is Linda's update on Cayla Joy

QuoteCayla's breathing tube was taken out this morning at 7am! Her breathing on her own is slowly stablizing. She still has what looks like an oxygen tube in, but it is just room air going through to help her remember how to breathe on her own. Hopefully she won't need that in for long. They said if she can't breathe well, they will have to put the tube back in... She's actually settled down now and sleeping and breathing ok so that shouldn't have to happen, Lord willing.

Her catheter should be coming out today too. :o)

Dr. Stewart's surgical nurse practitioner came in to see about removing her drainage tube from surgery. She wanted to see her a little more stable before she will remove it. She'll be back later to check on her and try again.

We are unable to touch or talk to her during this time since stimulation is her enemy at the moment... I told Lowell they'll need to put the hand cuffs on me now to stay away...

Thanks for all the prayers!

Good Sunday morning to all y'all!  It's a beautiful day here on the Oregon coast, and I'm trusting it is as beautiful wherever you are, at the moment.

Janet, I really enjoyed the article in the newspaper  :thumbsup:  It's good that your-- and Beth's -- book is becoming so widely known.  Hopefully it won't be long that you'll have all your capital recouped and you can make sizeable donations to NF.

Etta Sue, I'll keep you in mind while you're having your surgery.  Will you even recognize your world any more?  It will be like stepping into a brand new world.   :) By the way... I love all the chemo wraps you have been making.  They are bright and beautiful.   :thumbsup:  You will see that for yourself soon.
I had a friend who, after cataract surgery, was amazed at the brightly colored clothes in her closet!  She was a retired school teacher, and went on fabulous cruises and tours.  She said she needed to repeat those trips, now, and see how everything REALLY looked!  :D

Judy, and Pat, I have been following the updates about little Cayla Joy on Facebook.  She surely is a little trooper to have endured so much and only a few days old.  Her mother is a very articulate writer, and I wonder how she manages to keep the updates so detailed and informative when she is watching her tiny little daughter fight for life.  It has to be "only by the Grace of God" and His peace that surrounds her -- and all the family.

I am not doing what I should be doing -- getting ready for my trip to California -- I am one of the world's best procrastinators!  I am "supposed" to be driving down there Tuesday ... Oh, I know I'll be on the road again in all the right places and times, but I'll probably be packing my suitcase in the last hour or so before I get in the car. ::)

I've always done this.  The hardest part of any trip, for me, is getting started!  Once I'm on my way, I do fine   :)

Well, I need to at least get up from here and do something about breakfast/brunch and then think about what I will need to pack. Maybe I'll even get my suitcase out of the closet.  If I trip over it often enough, I just might be motivated to put something in it, y'think?  :D

Okay .... here I go >>>>>>>>>>>>

We had a very sunny day and other than that just resting and catching up on the unread news papers.

I do have a question when a couple is and has been living together for several years how do you acknowledge it on their special day.   Would it be happy togetherness?

Etta Sue:  All the best with your eye surgery.

Ruth:  You look so relaxed sitting on the bench outdoors.  Nice picture.

The reports on Cayla are improving each and every day - a lot of CPer's are praying for her.

Larry:  I think that there are a few others still not passing the roof inspection.

Jane, thanks for the kind words.  And....happy packing!   ;)

Ruth, maybe just a Think of You card?  I have no suggestions on that, really.  But knowing you care will make the day better.

I spent the day with my sweet daughter Diane today.  After church, we went to her house, and Abby and I made some lunch while Diane went to water the greenhouse.  Then Abby went "mudding" with the young people, and Diane and I went to Liberal to the Kansas Sampler Festival.  Lots to see, do, taste and explore in our fair state!  We ran out of time and the people were packing up to go home before we made it through all the tents.  But it was fun to spend some time with just Diane and to catch up on our visiting.

My talk at church was well received, and though only one book was sold, it's in the Lord's  hands.  Diane reminded me that sometimes if people don't know ahead of time that something will be available, they might not have money with them.  They know now that the book is available at Diane's store, so they may buy them there.

My eyes are burning, think I will shut down now.

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Janet that s John's favourite.  He left this morning, and I already miss him.  Can't wait till he retires!

The black flies are out.  Go outside to be eaten alive.

I am a third of the way through a BIG sewing job.  I would like to double up my production and be finished sooner.  This is a job I was voluntold to do.....but the $$$ will make it worth while. Got to get back at it.  Be back later!

I love that song, too.  It's often on the screen at church and always sung with such wonderful enthusiasm!  Judy, your choices for hymns to post is always great, and much appreciated.   :thumbsup:

Janet, you are doing so wonderfully in promoting your book.  The Lord seems to be opening more and more opportunities.

The progress reports about Cayla Joy are encouraging and certainly are proving to be answers to all the prayers that are being said.

 Hi everyone.  Once again today is the day for the housekeepers to be here and later the yard people.  I also have my Monday men's luncheon and then a meeting to attend tonight so plenty on the schedule for one day.  I ran several errands after coffee. We attended church yesterday and then went out to lunch with another couple and then enjoyed a restful afternoon and evening.

Judy, I saw Pat's posting on Facebook and saw several pictures of the baby and with Pat and Paul.  It must be very difficult not to even touch the baby.

Ruth, nice to have a restful day. I have no idea on your question regarding the couple being together for several years.

Janet, glad your talk at church went well but I couldn't imagine it not doing so.  In the newspaper article a couple of days ago didn't it say that your book is now available as an e-book?  I tried to find it without success.

I have seen Cayla Joy on Facebook and read about her updates.  Such a beautiful little girl.  She's a strong little baby to fight for life so hard!

And Larry, before I was 'friends' with some of the posters on Jacob's website, I had to click on the left side of the screen under 'Groups' and 'Prayers for Jacob Bolling'.  Try that.  But there weren't any new posts until last evening all weekend.  Sheree posted an update.

Quote
Sunday May 6, 2012
All praise to the Father from whom all things come...
It has been a pretty quiet weekend with Jacob resting from his most recent surgery on Thursday. Had a wonderful visit with our good friends Kevin and Luann this weekend from Indiana. We all got to spend time with Jacob plus some away time relaxing at some local restaurants and enjoying the warm weather. Haven't been out much so was very much appreciated.
Dear Father in Heaven we thank you for your many blessings. We continue to pray for healing and recovery for Jacob. We pray he emerge from his coma and be able to participate more with his therapy and receive a full recovery. All this we pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen

And Jane, that last Chemo Wrap was very colorful even to my eyes.  Can't imagine how much more colorful it might be!   :P  Well, the person who gets it, won't sleep during chemo!!  Safe travels to you, Jane!

Thanks to everyone for wishing me in a safe surgery tomorrow and Wednesday.  I am anxious!

Today I went to the P.O. for stamps and to fill up my three containers of gas for the mower and top off my car gas tank.  Well, the pumps (I tried two of them) wouldn't take my credit card so I went inside.  The credit machine was down and they couldn't take any credit cards.  So I left.

I drove 4 miles south to another station...it was 10 cents a gallon cheaper and I could still get my free cappucino!

I drove back into Lapel to get some snacks to take with me tomorrow since I will be there over lunch.  I may starve if I don't eat!!  And I got some sandwich spread and some chips.

Since coming back home, I Skyped with my classmate in Mexico on my Droid Razr....video call!  He said my picture was sharper than on the laptop.  His picture was sharper also.  Do you reckon it was because both are smaller pictures?  Hunh?  But it is handy to know that I can video call on my Droid Razr.

Now I am doing laundry.  Then need to shower.  Then tonight is Council Meeting at church.

Since voting is tomorrow, I am getting all kids of 'Unknown' and 'Restricted Number' calls.  I am not answering them.  I have last week and they want me to vote for so and so!  But I believe after 4 pm, I need to answer in case it is my driver tomorrow letting me know what time he will be at my house in the morning!

I am anxious!!

Hi, friends,

Well, it's been a relatively quiet day. Our monthly volunteer training call with the SHIP (that's for State Health Insurance Program - with your medicare book, you can see the number for your state printed on the back) program where I volunteer. It's so rewarding to be able to help seniors make wise decisions based on the programs available to them within their income range. No sales - no pressure - no commercial firms - just working with sometimes confusing medicare options for those of us of "that certain age." ;)

Then, home to set up a dinner for friends who no longer are able to cook. I fixed a one-dish meal consisting of diced chicken breast (it was easy to cut, since I didn't completely defrost them, then used the sharpest knife available :) ), mixed veggies, Mahatma rice, onion, pepper, and a bit of margarine. And, I thought I might take fixin's for banana splits.

Now, it's time to box it up, prepare to leave, and then to try to get my new frames and lenses ordered from the Wal-Mart that is near their home.

Then, most likely will see if friends want to get together for a cuppa tea (or something). :)

Etta Sue, much love and prayers will follow you and your medical team prior to, during, and after the surgeries, and remember our Lord is holding you closer even than ususal during these times. Please ask your driver (if allowed), to give you a big ole Tennessee bear hug from me.

Love to each of you,
Ruth Ann

Thanks, Ruth, for pointing Larry to TatePublishing.com for the ebook!  I know they have them, as I got my very first royalty check the other day, and it was for ebooks they have sold!

I guess I am missing out on Facebook, haven't seen any of Pat's stuff, nor Etta Sue's latest chemo wraps.  But it sure takes lots of time, even when scrolling past all the games, etc you have no interest in reading.  Who has time for all that stuff?  Not me, for sure!

I emailed the Christian radio station KJIL this morning to have them put the upcoming reception and book signing at The Legacy at Park View (where Beth lives) on their events calendar, as they told me to do that with any upcoming things, and they answered saying they put it on their calendar and gave it to their announcers to read on the radio.  Maybe that will help generate a better turnout for that one.  I really do hope so, for Beth would like it so much.  The pastor asked me yesterday to bring a book and come to the front, and she prayed over me, the book, and asked God to give me ideas where and how to sell the book, and to show me where the market for it is.  She was being led by the Holy Spirit in this prayer, and I appreciate it so much.

I'm taking a lunch break.  Been working steadily since I got up at 4:30 this morning, got a lot of laundry done, last load is washing now; sorted and put away more things; and been working in the garage with Beth's things, sorting them and putting into plastic tubs with lids, labeling them, then we will store them in her garage.  We were getting crowded out of the garage!

Beth called a while ago to ask if I am coming to see her today; I said after while, I am working right now and want to finish what I'm working on before I stop.  Which means I need to get back at it before I fall asleep on this keyboard......... :sleepy:

Marching to Zion  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/marching-to-zion.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion." Jeremiah 31:6

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707; refrain by Robert Lowry.
Music: Robert Lowry, 1867

Come, we that love the Lord,
And let our joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
Join in a song with sweet accord
And thus surround the throne,
And thus surround the throne.

Refrain

We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.

The sorrows of the mind
Be banished from the place;
Religion never was designed
Religion never was designed,
To make our pleasures less,
To make our pleasures less.

Refrain

Let those refuse to sing,
Who never knew our God;
But favorites of the heavenly King,
But favorites of the heavenly King
May speak their joys abroad,
May speak their joys abroad.

Refrain

The God that rules on high,
And thunders when He please,
Who rides upon the stormy sky,
Who rides upon the stormy sky,
And manages the seas,
And manages the seas.

Refrain

This awful God is ours,
Our Father and our Love;
He will send down his heav'nly powers,
He will send down his heav'nly powers,
To carry us above,
To carry us above.

Refrain

There we shall see His face,
And never, never sin!
There, from the rivers of His grace,
There, from the rivers of His grace,
Drink endless pleasures in,
Drink endless pleasures in.

Refrain

Yea, and before we rise,
To that immortal state,
The thoughts of such amazing bliss,
The thoughts of such amazing bliss,
Should constant joys create,
Should constant joys create.

Refrain

The men of grace have found,
Glory begun below.
Celestial fruits on earthly ground
Celestial fruits on earthly ground
From faith and hope may grow,
From faith and hope may grow.

Refrain

The hill of Zion yields
A thousand sacred sweets
Before we reach the heav'nly fields,
Before we reach the heav'nly fields,
Or walk the golden streets,
Or walk the golden streets.

Refrain

Then let our songs abound,
And every tear be dry;
We're marching through Immanuel's ground,
We're marching through Immanuel's ground,
To fairer worlds on high,
To fairer worlds on high.

Refrain

I got my phone call from the driver last evening but he lives in Greenfield and thought I lived in Greenfield.  Then I remembered when Mom was having cataract surgery, I had an eye problem and asked to be seen by their doctors there.  Their records showed Greenfield since I lived in Greenfield at that time.  And no, they didn't ask me my address when talking with them on the phone this time.

So another man called back and said he was in Anderson.  I gave him directions and it seems when he goes to Noblesville from Anderson, he drives right by my house every time!

So between 9 and 9:15, he is to be here.

The girl that called me yesterday said that I would have one eye done today, the other eye tomorrow and come back Thursday for the final visit!  Whew!  Three days!  And then I will see clearly!

I am not going to insist about the mono-vision or the bifocal implants but sure to want to discuss those options with them.  I am leaning more towards one of those than the far-sighted vision instead having to have reading glasses AND sunglasses.

So I am off for a few days with different excitement.

Thank you for all the prayers.  I feel them!

Etta Sue:  You are going to see everything so much clearer - take care.

I have a praise - after having an unscheduled medical test yesterday - the results are very good.  This is one grateful gal.

Two packed full days today and tomorrow so I had best get on with it and bake a dessert for quilt group tonight.   :coffee:

Prayers of agreement with Etta Sue, and prayers of praise for Carol!  God is so good!

We will soon be leaving for Garden City to get Darrel's stitches out.  Then I hope we will be finished with doctor visits for a while.  To look at our calendar, you would think we were both really puny--NOT SO!

I had a little email from another of Beth's schoolmates, asking where she could buy a book.  Prise God, the word is getting out!  I guess it just takes a while......

I need to call a friend before we leave.  Be back this afternoon sometime.

Good morning, friends,

Yesterday's visit with the elderly couple was great, and now I have several ideas that her family can use to help them live with their new lives since the lady had that very disabling stroke. The husband is simply not able to do all he's doing now.

We visited for a little while, and then I had some supper with friends.

God really blesses us when we plan for and try to give assistance when it's really needed.

I surely hope Etta Sue is doing well. She was on my mind when I first awakened, BUT she was on our Father's mind LONG BEFORE that time. :)  Praise His wonderful name!

Y'all have a wonderful day.

Love to everyone,
Ruth Ann

Good Morning, Prayer in agreement for Etta Sue and praising God for Carol.

yesterday morning first thing I had to call my Podiatrist to have an ingrown toenail removed. They got me in as the first patient. He numbed my toenail and cut out the ingrown part. I am now wearing a huge blue bandage. We are  going to my neighbor's funeral this afternoon and I have to see if I can get my boots on. Or wear sandals with my big blue toe sticking out. LOL

Hi everyone.  No rain in our area yesterday but once again a possibility later today.  A little later this morning I will get my two new crowns put in, then have a meeting to attend and later this afternoon the air conditioning service man is coming for the annual check of the system.  We are using a new company this year that recently relocated to our little town from the one just North of us.

RuthV, thanks for that info on where to find the link for the e-book version of Janet's book as I totally missed it even using a search engine on their site.  I see I didn't scroll down far enough.

Etta Sue, I think by the time you read this your first eye surgery will be a thing of the past. Hope all went well.  The number of pixels in a smaller area does give a sharper picture.

Ruth Ann, nice of you to prepare a meal for those who can no longer cook for themselves.

Janet, I believe you can block those messages generated from the games on Facebook.  I think I did that a long time ago but don't remember how I did it.  I am sure you can find some quick instructions with a Google search.  Glad your pastor held your book efforts up in prayer Sunday.  You might want to have your grandson put a link on your website to the ebook.  Many folks are now going to ebook readers and not buying as many paper books.

Marilyn, I had both my big toe ingrown nails removed at the same time.  Did they give you a special sandal to wear while you heal?  Reading further I see they did not.  I was really glad I had the procedure done.

Carol, so nice to read of a person getting good medical news.

 :)Good evening to you all.   Noreen and I have been very busy so that is my excuse that I have not been on the site.  We have again helping with the grandchildren and also been away due to me singing with the choir that I am in and that was so good as we were able to stay overnight with friends that we had not seen for 5 years and an other couple that live in the same town we also had not seen them for a much longer time so there was a lot of catching up on many stories.  :thumbsup:

This past Sunday I Gordon turned 65 years old and it was a wonderful day we saw all of my kids and my grand kids and also my best friend and wife and an other couple came for lunch a restaurant then we went back to our house and had cake and also I opened my gifts.  It was such a great time and to be with family is so important. :thumbsup:

That evening Pat and Paul came to my House to pick up Pats car as she had left it there so they could go to see the baby in one car. so it was so good to see them on birthday also. :)

The Lord blesses us with so many good things and gives us so much and we need to be so thankful.  May the Lord be with each one of you this week and may you be a witness for him as he shines through you. :)

Again Thank you for the prayers that you pray for Noreen and I and if I did not tell you before I have an M.R.I. on the 25 th. of May for my left hip so I would value them for that upcoming date. God bless for now.   Gordon and Noreen. :thumbsup: :banana: :cp: :bananadance:

Thanks for the suggestion, Larry.  When Curtis gets home I will have him add that link for me.  He, Mark and their dad all went to Las Vegas to a car wash show.  I think they were to get home tonight.

Darrel got the sutures out of his eyelids and is doing fine.  He still has some discoloration and some swelling, but is looking better each day.

I'm going to turn in early again tonight.  Had another "J" night last night and am feeling it.

I've had a very busy couple of weeks. We've been up to Dad's a couple of times to see how he is doing. My sister from Calgary is staying with him right now - having a visit before going to her daughter's graduation at Capenray in Quebec. This has helped as we know someone is with him as he's getting ready for his dialysis. He goes back to North Bay tomorrow for some training. I'm not sure if he'll be starting at that time. Judy, every time we've been up that way, we've been too busy and too pressed for time for me to get in touch with you. Maybe there will be more time in the summer, and when we're retired.
We went to Niagara Falls a week ago while I went to a conference. That was pleasant. I'll be at another conference in Mississauga from Thursday to Saturday, and have to do a presentation on Friday. I'll be glad when this week is over, as work has been very heavy.
My brother-in-law still can't see very well. He goes to see the specialist tomorrow.
Some other family issues have been difficult to go through but it's been very encouraging to know that God is there with us and our loved ones.
Etta Sue, I've been praying for you, that your surgery will go well, and that you will see so much better after the surgery.
Janet, I'm glad your book is doing well, and pray that God will continue to be honored through it.
So many prayer requests and people to pray for - I've been praying as I read the posts. Thanks for the prayers for my family.

FARTHER ALONG (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/fartheralong.mid)
(Click to hear music)

W. B. Stevens

Tempted and tried we're oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long.
While there are others living about us,
Never molested though in the wrong.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

When death has come and taken our loved ones,
It leaves our home so lonely and drear;
Then do we wonder why others prosper,
Living so wicked year after year.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

Faithful till death said our loving Master.
A few more days to labor and wait;
Toils of the road will then seem as nothing
As we sweep through the beautiful gate.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

When we see Jesus coming in glory,
When He comes from His home in the sky;
Then we shall meet Him in that bright mansion
We'll understand it all by and by.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

Betty, good to read your posts, and prayers for your retirement and for your dad's health continue.

I just finished writing another article for our newspaper.  May is NF awareness month, so I am doing an article each week this month to try and educate people about this awful disorder.  The gal who runs the paper is a Christian friend and member of our church, so is very cooperative about publishing the articles.  Praise God!  The word will get out, and there will be a cure found for NF.  That's my statement of faith!!

I love the old hymns of the faith, including Farther Along.  Thanks, Judy.  And the title reminds me of a little smile story I read recently, so hope you can use a smile today:

Ole wasn't the brightest bulb on the string, but seemed to be a willing and hard worker, so when he applied for a job with the highway department, they decided to give him a chance.  He was hired to paint the stripe down the center of the highway.  Their minimum work standard was two miles per day, this work being done by hand.  Well, on the first day, Ole painted three miles of stripe!  His supervisors were impressed with that and glad they had hired him.  The second day, Ole only painted two miles of stripe, but, since that was their minimum work standard, they didn't say anything to him.  But on the third day, Ole only painted 3/4 of a mile of stripe!  They called him in and said, "Ole, what's wrong?  The first day, you did three miles; the second day, two miles, but yesterday, only 3/4 of a mile.  Can you explain this?"  And Ole replied, "Well, every day I get farder and farder from the paint can!"   ;) :)

That's a good chuckle, Janet.   :lol:  I'm so glad you're having some success with your book.

It seems so strange not to have Etta Sue's daily posting.  I pray for fast healing and a quick return to our fold.

Yesterday brought rain all day and today the clouds linger on.  It feels quite chilly, but it's really just about normal for early to mid May.  I got spoiled with the upper 70's a couple of weeks ago.   ;)

Hi everyone.  We had a brief but pleasant showers this morning and I know the yards will appreciate it for today.  It was cloudy all day yesterday.  I got my air conditioner checked out yesterday and all was well.  The system is going on 16 years so know that I will have to replace it one of these days, but hopefully not this season.  Stacey saw her surgeon yesterday to check on the incision.  The incision is not healing as it should and he told her it is going to take a long time as she is so diabetic.  She had to wait 2 1/2 hours to see him and was in her power chair about 5 hours and was really worn out last night.  Pat got a kick out of her comment from Stacey that she was totally surprised when the surgeon walked in and he was black.  She apparently had no recollection of him seeing her in the hospital.  We had met him and he had explained what they had done in surgery to us.  Guess she was too drugged at the time to remember, which is probably a good thing.  We just got back from Bible study and the usual Wednesday morning activities.  We decided to come home for lunch and then will go out to eat this evening so Pat doesn't have to cook today.

Happy 65th Gord.  It sounds like you have had a busy but rich recent days in being with friends and doing what you love to do.

Betty, it sounds like you are keeping very busy but the time must be getting short before you retire.

Janet, loved your funny story.

Jeanne, it is currently 70 degrees here but I am chilly due to the moisture in the air.

Hi, friends,

Well, yesterday was a "wish I felt better day", so it's wonderful to be up and feel alive and know no matter our physical feelings, our Lord cares and understands.

Last evening a friend and I attended a women's health event held twice a year here in Nashville. It's at a 4-star hotel and costs nothing to attend. The medical community does such screenings as body fat, blood pressure, carotid artery scans, mammogram screenings, and others. Then, a huge ballroom is opened and we're served a nice fruit, cheese plate with other nibbles on the table. They even have red and white wines, but we never indulge. During the event, a panel of 4-6 physicians discusses their specialties and then the microphones are opened and people ask questions pertaining to their own health, and the doctors answer comprehensively. Afterward, they stay near the front where persons may go ask questions they may not wish to share with the entire gathering. And, a neat feature this time was a great steel drum artist played wonderful, soothing melodies as the health screenings were done.

Larry, I agree - healing takes much longer with diabetes. Yet, healing happens if we follow the medical team's advice. Once I was in a wheelchair or on crutches for many months, but the broken foot healed - Praise His name!

Etta Sue, we love you and are praying for you.

Gord, 65th birthdays seem special to me. When I was working, the insurance industry categorized us around that age as being "near aged." ;) (Certainly, we're nearer than we've ever been before, aren't we!!)

I, too, have had ingrown nails cared for by my podiatrist. Isn't it amazing how the knowledge of such problems has changed through the years. Thus far my closet contains both left and right foot healing sandals, left and right rocker boots to the knee, and of course, various canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Oh, well, keeping them has saved me many $$ in these later years.

Now, to head out, order my new eyeglasses, take the partial plate to be repaired, and bring in a few items from Wal-Mart.

It will be so good to go to the prayer service at the church across the street. For only $5 we may eat a meal which consists of salad, meat, 2 vegetables, bread, dessert and drink. I know that really helps out parents with children, and assists them in meeting their busy schedules. And I really like the atmosphere of our seniors gathering. The seniors pastor is a genial man and many of the seniors are or have been theologians and biblical scholars. How great to hear new perspectives than my own on various biblical topics.

Well, must be about my schedule. :)

Love to everyone,
Ruth Ann

Yesterday we went to the funeral of our neighbor. It was a very emotional time. funny stories about him were told by some of his friends. The place was sure packed every bit of room in the foyer, hall, main room and over flow room were packed . We didn't go to the cemetery but came on home after stopping at the lawn mower repair place to order a new wheel for one of  mowers.

Marilyn, it seems funerals are always packed when the person was young, and especially when the death was an accident or suicide.  But sometimes, when an old person dies, there are barely a handful of people there at their service.  This seems sad to me.  One would think that many lives had been touched by a person of great age.....but maybe it's because so many of their contemporaries have already passed on before them.

Another day of hard work for me, but we got quite a lot accomplished.  I wrote another article for the paper, got that delivered, mailed a book, sent a couple of cards, worked on the garage stuff.  We took a load to the Sr. Center, a load to the dump, a load to Darrel's garage and a load to Beth's garage.  So we are making headway.  Oh, yes, we took down some cabinets and put up others.  Those things are HEAVY!!  I also went to see Beth, then came home, showered and dressed, fixed some strawberries and poppy seed bread and went to a birthday tea for my sister Jeanie.  Dare I say I am tired?  :-\

I am fully expecting a good report from our Etta Sue as soon as she can get back online!

I'm going to get ready for bed!  Then will read or watch TV as long as I can keep my eyes open...........

Hi everyone.  The sun in just now coming up and we are to get no rain today.  The major activity for today is to attend my retiree's luncheon, which is held at Ryan's (not one of my favorite places but we don't meet for the food but the fellowship).

Ruth Ann, that health fair sounds like quite an event.  I can't image a steel drum providing soothing melodies but suppose it must have had a mellow tone.  Your prayer service and meal sound good.  Does this occur every week?

Marilyn, I can image what emotions must have existed at the funeral as the man was so young and has left such a young family.

Janet, the older we get the fewer of our friends that are left to attend the funeral.  As people get old and perhaps have to live in a care facility it seems their friends seem to fade away.  I remember my lamenting that only a very few of his friends came to visit him in the nursing home and he was always of sound mind and enjoyed their visits.  I am beginning to think you may be the original Energizer Bunny with all that you cram into a day.

Larry, you are so kind to speak individually to us. I hope Stacey is doing as well as possible, and that both of you are getting along fine, too. Yes, our church always has a great meal on Wednesday nights.

Marilyn, our church was standing room only when my husband died. Yes, more individuals attend funerals for the young. It seems around here, some persons are opting for more private arrangements, with a get together in homes or other smaller venues for a time of remembrance and not even opting for a formal funeral. That makes me sad to think we cannot do formal goodbyes to our loved ones and friends.

Judy, those hymns really are a wonderful way for me to worship right here in my home. Thanks to you and the others who can post them for our spiritual uplift times.

Pat and Paul, thank you so much for continuing to host this site.

Also, I never remember to speak to everyone, but do know I love and appreciate each of you.

May our Lord grant His love and peace for each of us today.

Ruth Ann

Well, the "energizer bunny" is hopping more slowly today!  I had a really bad night again, with stomach disturbances.  I feel fine today, except for being a little tired.

I got another real shock this morning.  When I went to my chiropractor and friend, he told me that the lovely 23 year old girl who worked for him had killed herself!  That was shock enough, but the method she chose was really a surprise---she drove to Canon City, Colorado, to the Royal Gorge, a six hour drive from here, left a note in her car, and jumped off the bridge!   :o  I couldn't believe it!  I expected him to say she swallowed a bottle of pills or something like that. They have not found her body and say it may never be found!  She was such a brilliant, talented girl, just ready to graduate from nursing school, and has a 2 year old daughter.  Dr. Saxon is devastated.  He always told her how important she was to him, that she was by far the best help he'd ever had, and would have done anything he could to help her.  But...she listened to the wrong voice, just as the kid at Hugoton did.  The devil is out to steal, kill and destroy, and he wants our kids!!  How we must pray for them!

I went by the hospital gift shop and sold them more copies of my book; then to the Jr. High school where I talked to the librarian and left a book so she can speak to the principal about putting it in the library there; also told her to tell him I am available to talk to the kids whenever they need someone as a speaker.  So I feel I have made a good start on the day.

Darrel unloaded one of the freezers, hauled it out on the driveway where it is thawing.  It was packed with frost, so needed to be done.  I'd better go help him now.  Later! :wave:

We have a lovely sunny day.
Mel has taken some items to the auction house, the return will be small but our home has a little less clutter.
Our Cdn Tire gas station has gas for 5 cents off the regular price all day so the both of us will be filling our veh's  I do feel that it is a promo for their credit card, we have one that is filled in the drawer and not used the interest they charge is way to high.

Janet: I loved your smile for the day.

Marilyn:   I am noticing that most of older folk have lost most of their friends and family to death then I have also found that when the older person becomes forgettful and careless   they are forgotten about .  Forget that the ones doing the snubbing, thought the person was once very wonderful person.

Have a wonderful rest of the day.  :coffee:

I get the "One News Now" newsletter and this article caught my eye...

Pastors 'coming out'
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 5/10/2012 3:35:00 AM

(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.onenewsnow.com%2FuploadedImages%2FMedia%2FImages%2FMugs%2Fken%2520hutcherson%25281%2529.jpg&hash=a3dd497fb36ceba454564b66e8d2ab4be1881f8a)

Dr. Ken Hutcherson of Antioch Bible Church in Redmond, Washington, is an outspoken opponent of homosexual "marriage." But the pastor has announced that he's the gayest man he knows.

Hutcherson, a former NFL linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, says Christians have given up many things, and one of them is the term "gay" -- a word that used to describe merriment, happiness or joy is now used to identify people as homosexuals. So he plans on reclaiming the word and promoting it as what believers ought to be.

"The Christian community I think is the true gay community because we are forgiven; we have our sins wiped away," he contends. "We're going to spend eternity with God. We should be extremely gay and happy and overjoyed with who we are, and that sets us free to have the ability to love others and to lead them to that same gay, happy lifestyle."

(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.onenewsnow.com%2FuploadedImages%2FMedia%2FImages%2Frainbow.jpg&hash=2a3edfdc8b6034dfa161e25b4d9fdf5b78bdcb2c)

Another thing the homosexual movement has stolen away from Christianity is the rainbow, which the pastor points out is actually a reminder of God's promise regarding the destruction of the world.

"He did say he's going to destroy the earth, but it won't be by rain and water (Genesis 9:12-13)," Hutcherson notes, "and then he gave us the rainbow to prove it. And the homosexual community has taken over that. If someone mentions the rainbow today, it doesn't go back to the Word of God; it goes back to the homosexual community."

So the pastor has launched the national "Pastors Come Out" campaign to take back the rainbow and the word "gay" by refusing to surrender either to the homosexual community any longer.

Pat, that's really wonderful that Dr. Hutcherson is trying to reclaim perfectly good words like those and others.  I strongly suspect there are many, many other ones that need the same treatment, and if we would all use them correctly and often, we could be used to awaken some people.  Oh may it be so!

Hey there, Pat!  So good to see you back....and you, too, Al!

I did find the article in the newspaper today that I wrote, and the only change they made was to take my name off as the writer.   :( :-\  Oh, well, the intent is to educate people about neurofibromatosis, so if it gets read, it will still do the job it is intended to do.

Ruth, I am sorry your poor aunt is having such difficulties.  My own Dad had Alzheimer's, so I do understand some of what you're dealing with.

I will return!

Pat:  I had to read the first part twice!  We are just happy to read that the new baby is doing better so you and Paul can rest easier.  You two sure do travel the road a lot and almost as much as Bonsey.

Larry:  It must take so much patience for you, Pat and Stacey each and every procedure she endures.  Prayers for continued patience as the healing continues.

Wednesday's women in bible study is officially over for the season.  Everyone brought food for a feast and I confess to having 4 chocolate sweets.  Four!  It was great.   :coffee:

Janet:  I have not heard that story about the girl going over the bridge.  Shocking and so very sad.

Al:  How are you feeling?  Are you getting out and about more each week?  Peace for you and Marbeth.

Birds with gladder songs o'erflow, flowers with deeper beauties shine,
Since I know, as I now know, I am His, and He is mine.
Since I know, as I now know, I am His, and He is mine.

Things that once were wild alarms cannot now disturb my rest;
Closed in everlasting arms, pillowed on the loving breast.
O to lie forever here, doubt and care and self resign,
While He whispers in my ear, I am His, and He is mine.
While He whispers in my ear, I am His, and He is mine.

His forever, only His; Who the Lord and me shall part?
Ah, with what a rest of bliss Christ can fill the loving heart!
Heav'n and earth may fade and flee, firstborn light in gloom decline;
But while God and I shall be, I am His, and He is mine.
But while God and I shall be, I am His, and He is mine.

Hi everyone.  I got up a little bit early this morning for no particular reason.  Other than a friend coming over to spend an hour or so this  morning nothing else on the schedule for today.  Yesterday I did get Pat's laptop redone with a fresh install of Windows 7 and then loaded most of the software she uses on it.  I still need to get it to recognize her printer but it will allow her to print on both of mine.  It took me about 6 hours of work to get that done but was needed as think she had gotten a virus on her computer as it kept shutting down and had basically become unusuable.

Ruth Ann, sometimes I just don't take the time to address everyone but once I start I wouldn't want to intentionally leave anyone out.  Of course, this results in very long postings but a person can always scroll through it quickly and go on to the next one.  No one is watching over our shoulder.  :)  Stacey does seem to be doing OK and is still receiving home therapy.

Janet, what a tragedy with the young woman who had a full life ahead of her and to leave a two year old child.  There can be no explanation other than the one you suggest.  What mental torture a person must endure to get to this point and help would have been available if she had sought it.

Ruth, your comment about older folks being forgotten when they become senile is so true and so sad.

Pat, glad to see  your post.

Al, you are so right.  Over our lifetime we have seen this happen many times.

Carol, one thing life has taught me is to take life on life's terms and to live in today and not worry about tomorrow.  When we trust in God things work out the way he wants them to be.  Pat's book club at church is starting a book on women of the Bible.

I am getting tired of "J" nights!  I have been over to Pat's for her to do my hair, then a quick visit to Beth, but can't understand her at all this morning.  Whatever kind of muscle relaxer they give her in the morning makes her unable to talk clearly at all.....so frustrating!

We are continuing to make progress on the garage clean out, think we will likely take another load to the Sr. Center today.

I don't know what the plans are for Sunday.....they are having a mother's day tea at the Legacy.  I have to plan things that won't keep Beth in her chair too long at a time.

Carol, I wondered if there would be anything about Mallory in the news up there.  They still haven't found her body.  Such a tragedy, such a waste!  She had so much to give, and to destroy all that potential is just the work of the devil.  We are all so saddened by it.

Back later!

I know in my heart that I posted yesterday but it isn't to be found today.

Well, I am seeing more clearly.  My far distant eye is still dilated!  But my nearer distant eye is great for reading the Bible, magazines and newspapers and the computer!  BUT when examined yesterday a piece of the old cornea is still in my right eye.  So I have to use one of the drops every two hours until Monday morning.  Then Wednesday morning I am to be back to the Eye Specialists of Indiana by 6:45am!!  If the piece has dissolved, then I come back home.  If not, then I go upstairs, get an IV and have surgery again for the doctor to go back in the incision and suction out the piece of cornea!!  Then return the next day.  Weird that my right eye seems perfect...it's the left that is still not doing what I think it should!

Then when I got home, I could finally used the computer.  I had 99 emails to receive since Monday night late.  They wouldn't upload so I could receive or send.  So I googled the problem and found Itok.com.  Since 2pm, Itok has had access to my computer.  I got my emails but at midnight last night they were still working on it.  I called them and shut the lid.  This morning I was to get a call between 9 and 10am.  No call.  But they still have access to my computer.  So if I don't notice anything by noon, I am calling again!!  Of course, the first person I talked to was English...the guru was Indian!!  ::)  (maybe my post disappeared due to the guru)

Kitty and I are going for Pizza this evening.  I think I could drive fine but she is coming to get me!

:wave:  Hi Everyone!!!  :wave:

Trying to get rested up is sometimes difficult--especially when you have so much on your mind to mull over and think about.

I just read Linda's blog from last night and at the bottom, she has some lovely photos.  Cayla had a wonderful day yesterday and Linda got to leave the hospital for several hours with her friend which was so nice for her.

Have a read!  http://ourpreciouscaylajoy.blogspot.ca/2012/05/little-time-away-for-me-today.html?spref=fb

Etta Sue, your eyes don't sound that great!  Are they ok?

Janet, where are you putting the "stuff" from the garage?  Throwing it out?  I need to do that as well.  Who's Mallory?

It's so good to see you posting regularly again, Al!  Love your words of wisdom!

I will always remember your kindness to Paul and I, Carol, when we had the most wonderful night's sleep in your home.  Thank you so very much! <3

What a wonderful hymn, Judy!  "I am His and He is mine!"  What a wonderful statement.  I pray that all of our members here can say that from their heart!

All of you from the old SeniorNet days will remember dear Gladys.  If you haven't heard, she passed away last week at the age of 94 and we have a lovely Sympathy topic opened for anyone who wishes to leave a message for the family:

http://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?topic=2475.0

Larry, I'm definitely going to have to think very soon of buying a new laptop and from viewing Paul's laptop, I sure am not a lover of Windows 7 but maybe I could learn?  Do you recommend it fully?  I am still using XP.  I will get one with a larger screen and also a huge hard drive and more speed.  I may phone you and talk to you more about this.  Money IS a factor!   ;D :lol:

Pat, are you in Guelph still, or back in Virginia now?  Can you call me when it is convenient?  Mallory is the 23 year old mom who jumped off the Royal Gorge bridge this week.  Such a tragedy...she left a 2 year old daughter.  They haven't recovered her body yet.

We just got home from a funeral of a classmate of Darrel's sister.  His sis and bro-in-law are in town and will be here soon; they went to the cemetery, and we didn't.

Must run, Dolores and Norm will be here soon.

Here in Guelph, Janet.

I'll call you.  How long are Dolores and Norm staying with you?  I hadn't heard of Mallory.  Very tragic indeed.

It has been a most lovely day.

Pat: The year is getting closer when there will be no more updates for the XP programs and we will have to make the switch. At that time learn we must do.

I haven't heard one good thing about Windows 7., However, I think I will have to get a new computer  before too long, probably a laptop. I will probably buy the Pro version because it can be used in Virtual XP and I will need that for making stationery.

Pat how are the SSTPSP lesson coming along. I am learning to make posers in one of my groups.

Pat, Norm and Dolores only stayed maybe 30 minutes.  I asked them if they would like to stay the night but they said they had to get home to the kids--they have two dogs!

I just Googled the story, too.....so tragic.  She was a wonderful, smart, talented girl, with SO much potential....and now that is all lost.  And her child will have to grow up without her.  So sad.

Tomorrow I will go to Liberal with Diane to watch our Abby in her dance recital.  She does really well!  I must have the camera ready!

I don't know what I whacked my hand on, but the knuckle area of my left hand is purple and swollen.  Really pretty--NOT.  :-\

 :)  Good day to all and it so good to see all of your posts.  Things are going along well and tomorrow I have been asked to sing at a friends funeral who died suddenly .  So again I would ask you to pray that the Lord would give me great freedom to sing and be a witness for him as I am sure that will be some people that are not Christians.

May you all have a blessed weekend .   God Bless for now.  Gordon and Noreen. :) :cp: :bananadance:

Abide With Me (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/11abidewithme.mid)

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
change and decay in all around I see;
O thou who changest not, abide with me.

I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who, like thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes;
shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Henry F. Lyte was a man who greatly loved the Lord with his whole being. He came up with the saying, "It is better to wear out than to rust out," and it perfectly described his life.

During the last 23 years of his life he pastored a poor church in England. His always suffered from poor health but during this time his health started to decline even more. Finally on September 4, 1847 he preached his last sermon to his congregation. He was in need of the warmer climate of Italy. His final sermon made a deep impression to his congregation. It has been described that he had to practically crawl up to the pulpit that day. He said during his sermon that it was his desire to "induce you to prepare for the solemn hour which must come to all by a timely appreciation and dependence on the death of Christ." He never was able to make his trip to Italy, he died on the journey. Shortly before preaching his last sermon he wrote the words and tune to the hymn, 'Abide With Me.' He based his hymn on the text which tells the story of Christ on the way to Emmaus and the disciples statement, 'Abide with us: for it is toward evening and the day is far spent.'

Later William Monk wrote a new tune for the hymn. During a time of personal sorrow, he was inspired by the beauty of the magnificent sunset.

This beloved hymn of comfort and trust was written by a pastor who was sickly and unwell most of the time.

     Henry F. Lyte  pastored a seashore church in England, among the rough sailors and uncultured villagers. And this made outsiders often wonder. But they loved him and he loved the work.

     However, health finally left him and the doctor advised him to retreat to sunny southern Europe, and he prepared to sail.

     The last Sunday before leaving, although he had no strength to stand up and preach, yet he forced himself and preached among his weeping people. That evening, by the light of the evening sun, he wrote these words:

Abide with me, Fast falls the eventide;

The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;

When other helpers fail, and comforts flee,

Help of the helpless, O abide with me!

     He sailed, but died abroad within that year.

Hi Everyone.  Another day that looks like it will be very nice although it is suppose to be partly cloudy.  I enjoyed a nice easy day at home yesterday and will have more of the same this afternoon unless something comes up.  I do have a meeting to attend this morning after coffee at McDonald's.

Janet, I can understand your frustration in not being able to understand Beth and it must also be frustrating for Beth not to be able to communicate.    Hope you were able to get some rest last night.  I don't think I could function at a very high level if I didn't get adequate sleep.  You are pretty amazing.

Etta Sue, I saw your posting about not being able to post on Facebook yesterday.  Sorry to hear the left eye surgery hasn't turned out as well as the right and hope they will be able to easily clear up that problem without further surgery.

Pat, so nice to see that Cayla is doing well and that Linda was able to get away for a few hours.  As you well know being with someone in the hospital is a very tiring experience and then add anxiety on top of that it makes it even worse.

Pat, I don't think you would have any problem with Windows 7.  My Pat has it on her laptop but still uses the XP on her desktop.  We saw yesterday in the paper where Fry's was selling a name brand laptop for less than $300.  With all your photographs you would certainly be a candidate for a terabyte hard drive. You know I am always happy to speak to you and help anyway I can.

Ruth, I saw that news about Microsoft soon ending support of XP.  They will soon have another operating system on the market, Windows 8, and I am in no hurry to upgrade.

Marilyn, I have never seen anything bad about Windows 7.  Some of the menus are hidden a little bit but when you learn to look certain places they are easy to use.

Gord, I am sure your singing to day will be beautiful and give comfort to the family that has lost a loved one.

All this talk about Windows 7!  Makes me glad I have Macintosh!
Well, I was notified by the DMV that now I have to take the driving test as well as the written one.  It'll be on June 4 at 2PM.  Please pray that I'll adequately please the one that tests me!  I can't help wondering it they heard about my time in the hospital, etc. and if someone tipped them off that I should be retested to see iif it affected my driving.  I think I have a persecution complex!

Al, don't let it frustrate you, just "bone up" on the driving manual and pray for peace and calm, and favor with the driving tester, and you will do fine!

Today I will go to Liberal with Diane and Abby to watch Abby's dance recital.  I am looking forward to that; she is a wonderful dancer!

I cannot stop thinking about the two young lives snuffed out lately by their own hands.  How I hate the works of the devil!  And so many people are hurt when these things happen.  May God comfort the ones who loved both Dominic and Mallory.

I tried to catch up on FB and have been sitting here working on that for over two hours!  I am not sure it's worth the effort and time it takes!  What do you think?

Janet, I don't "do" Facebook at all.  I had one for a couple of years and never used it after the first couple of days.  I didn't access it and the only time I've been tempted to see anyone else's was while Pat was on her cross country trip.  So I deleted/canceled it.   It was just one more of the things that seemed to me to be a complete waste of time and totally useless. I know a lot of people - maybe even most people - will disagree with me on that.

Jeanne, by posting on FB, I have had some interest in my book, which is my main motivation for bothering with it at all.   But spending three hours combing through (read scrolling) I can't afford.  I have more valuable ways to use my time!  Thanks for your comments.

I love Facebook.  All of my immediate family is on FB but Ivalou so I love reading about all of them and seeing their photos!

I got an answer from God this morning.  Kitty and I went to Pizza King last evening.  When leaving, I said, 'Well, I forgot to put on my sunglasses.'  We went to the Dollar General and then home.

This morning, I remembered that I mowed last Sunday and didn't want to mow tomorrow on Mother's Day.  I needed to take a letter to the mailbox and looked for my sunglasses.  The case is in my purse but not my sunglasses.  So I looked up the number for Pizza King....they couldn't find them.  Call back around 4PM when the closing manager yesterday would be back.

I read my Bible devotions thinking that maybe Ivalou still has hers.  I always end my devotions with a prayer for everyone.  This time, the last thing I mentioned was for God to help me find my sunglasses.  I opened my eyes, looked straight to my house phone and there were my sunglasses!! !!  I don't know that I ever look at my home phone unless it is ringing but now I remember when I got home, there was a message on my phone and I took them off so I could see the phone with better light!!  How awesome is our God!

My left far vision still isn't the best but it is improving.  It does seem I am seeing far, far away better than seeing the leaves on the trees in my front yard.  I guess this is why you have to see your eye doctor to be checked after implants!

Since Itok.com worked on my laptop, it is running better than before I had Windows re-installed two years ago!  No need to buy a new laptop now!!

Ivalou's daughter, Teresa, is here this weekend.  I don't know if she is alone or not.  Maybe her husband, her grand kids and the dog also.  Not sure.

I have a Tulip Poplar tree in my front yard.  It is laden with blooms.  According to the internet, it isn't to bloom until the third week in May but I have had blooms for two weeks.  And the blooms are only to stay on a week!!  I imagine there are 200 blooms on the tree!  Beautiful!  The only thing is most of the blooms are high in the tree.  The blossom is lime green petals with orange center...but hard to see since they are up so high.

Wispy clouds today with very little wind.

I am off to the lawn mower!

Wow, lots of posting to catch up on. Yesterday was almost impossibly busy. So, today's been a take it easy day.

Etta Sue, it's good to hear from you and know you're improving.

My daughter and hubby plan to take me to late Mothers Day celebration next week. That way, the restaurants won't be as crowded. I suggested it.

So, now's time to busy myself about the apartment, then prepare a few things for tomorrow.

As for Windows 7, I'm gratefl to have it, but needed a bit of support from Larry who helped me over the first hurdle of getting accustomed to it.

Walk with God today.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

A headline here:  Colorado judge says Day of Prayer is unconstitutional.  We shall see as both Dem. and Rep. governors before have celebrated this annual day here.  The current gov. (Dem) will decide if there is to be an appeal and this may take some time because he just does take time.  Another attack on religion.

Our oldest son and wife stopped in for a visit today and presented me with Chocolate Coffee (what else?) and a beautiful scarf.  He has to hop a plane for Portland tomorrow so they cannot meet with the rest of the family.  Earlier, we had a SKYPE session with a good friend in Minnesota who is having heart/cancer and multitude of problems.  He looked better the longer we chatted.  He wants to go up north to his cabin on the lake and I wish he did not have so many appointments with the Mayo clinic.  I tried to take a brisk walk and ended up chatting with neighbors as usual.  It is crisp outdoors today and perfect for a walk while listening to a Scottish audio mystery book.  I am sipping a hot chocolate latte drink now - a mix.   <3

Gord:  It would be nice if we could hear your singing.  Perhaps you can have someone make a UTube or something for us in here???

Pat and Doug: We so enjoyed our visit with you and could have chatted a few more days.  What interesting lives you lead and you two are filled with the spirit.  I hope you can read this note.
