Morning Devotional...
"Places of Greatness: Seaside Shores"
Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today... The LORD will fight for you....Exodus 14:13-14a

Exodus 14:21-31
Who can imagine the terror that gripped the families of Israel in Exodus 14? The joy of their emancipation was overwhelmed by sudden crisis. Before them was the Red Sea; behind them was the flash of Pharaoh's swords. With no way out, they seemed to be facing annihilation. Yet the Lord said, "Don't be afraid. See what I will do. Stand still and watch while I fight for you." As Moses raised his rod over the waters, the winds of heaven blew and the sea parted before them.
God can make a way where there seems to be no way. Isaiah 43:19b (KJV) says,
"I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." The apostle Paul promised God will not allow us to be tempted beyond our ability but will with the temptation make a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13).
If you're facing a challenging problem, don't be afraid. Stand still and see what God will do. He will make a way.
The Lord will make a way for you where no foot has been before. That which, like a sea, threatens to drown you, shall be a highway for your escape.
Charles H. Spurgeon
Al do you have MediCal as well? Between the two medicare and medical I got new glasses before I left California. You can also contact the Lions. They provide glasses in some cases.
Praying Al. Here if you are diabetic there is more eye help available.....
Jeanne thank you for the devotional.
Long tiring day today. Kassie's group didn't win any awards, the flight that did really did deserve what they got.
John leaves today and thankfully meals were ready early.
Thanks, Marilyn. Unfortunately, I don't have Medical and can't get it. I hadn't remembered the Lions, but that's a good suggestion. I will likely try that avenue.
Interesting.....I had no idea Medicare would pay anything on glasses or eye exams. They don't on dental...do they?''
We went to Hugoton after church, then on to Liberal to eat dinner (lunch for you city types) with our kids, grands, and great-grands. So I didn't make it in to see Beth today. But sure will tomorrow!
I am stymied about how to get my manuscript submitted. Mark changed the formatting on the flash drive for me today to PDF which is what they want, but I can't seem to figure out how to send it from my laptop, and the computer I wrote it on isn't online. Grrrr. Wish I had a computer guru here! Larry, I might be calling you if I don't get it figured out tomorrow. ;)
I couldn't sleep last night and now am really feeling it, so will be turning in soon. 'Night, All!

I found out that I have eye care through my retirement insurance but, of course, you can only go to where they say you can go. So I did. Medicare covered the exam part since I was having eye problems...itchy, watery eyes. But my new glasses with insurance...my part cost me over $200 more than my glasses did at WalMart AND the eye exam cost 3 times as much as WalMart. So I am not going that route again!! I have found that it is the glasses that cost so much. Frames? Ivalou even chose men's frames....a lot cheaper!
Well, I am ready to go with Kitty to Ft.Wayne. I don't know what I am in for today. Sounds like they are wanting to do shopping big time! I can only do so much so may sit on benches or in the car a lot today. I have my book and a crossword puzzle book. I do want to look at some shoes but that's it. Well, maybe some speakers to leave at church for Sunday School and using the Droid for the Bible reading.
Tomorrow morning is another early morning. Blood draw at 8:45am!! My favorite thing to do....NOT!(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(

Janet I probably don't know what I am talking about but can you copy the document to your flash drive, then copy it off the flash drive to the lap top and then send it? That is what Kassie said for me to do with a doc I had on the flash drive.
This is morning, and I don't "do" mornings. I so envy those who can get up with the birds and have the morning to themselves.
We had an exciting evening last night. Elizabeth went to the window on our door to look out and there was a red fox at the dog food which had been left out. Kassie grabbed my camera but because there had been so much activity he ran off, then came back. The outside light was turned on and he ran off. Kassie went to the car and turned down the window so I pushed the food dish closer to the car, he was about at the food dish and Elizabeth went to the door and opened it. He ran off. He was about to go to the food again and she opened the door "AGAIN" and he was gone. No picture, frustration for Kassie and some fun for both girls seeing the fox so close.
We are all tired after a long weekend, long in hours not days but it sure felt like it being long in days too. Kassie's flight did well considering the number of first year cadets involved. We were absolutely mesmerized bu the Sault St. Marie squadron. Their pipe bag pipes) and drum corps has the most amazing Drum major, he was absolutely superb. But the best part for me were the 8 cadets who were highland dancers and they had their routine in and around the other cadets, for the freestyle the dancers preformed, in unison and it felt like it would never end! They had all ranks with the dancers. I believe these kids go through to Nationals in Trenton. They got top marks, and so deserve it! We were speaking to the colonel from Sault St. Marie and he told us these kids have exams for the highland dancing and the squadron brings the examiners over from Scotland to do the testing. The dedication and money that goes into this is phenomenal, and it shows in the dedication of the cadets.
Today is to be a warm day, and sunny.
Have a good day everyone.
Hi everyone. Am sitting in the waiting area at the car dealer to get the oil changed for the Sonata. I had the oil changed for the other car on Friday so this will be a task done for awhile.
Beautiful day here in Georgia and will be very warm this afternoon. I stopped at Fry's computer store on my way here this morning and the weren't opening until ten starting today.
My car is ready so will try to get back later. Do have my Monday men's luncheon today and a few other errands to run today.
Afternoon update: Since no one else has yet posted since I did this morning I will just add a couple of lines or so. It only took 30 minutes to get the oil changed rather than the 90 it took on Friday with the other car. I then stopped at Fry's and found what I was looking for. Came home for a few minutes after stopping at the bank to make a deposit and pay my insurance bill for the year and then stopped at Burger King for a sandwich for Pat. Then I did attend the men's luncheon and we had a good time with the other six men who attended. I then came home and crashed for awhile. It has been a very busy day.
Slow Monday on here! Like Larry, I have had a very busy day. I am wanting to get my book published ASAP, and am finding that the wheels tend to grind slooooowly. :-\ But I did get a letter from the publisher, after I had attempted to call a couple times and left a message. She said that it usually takes 6 to 8 months for a book to make its way through the process. Also, my initial cost will be $4000.00....so that might present a problem. I will continue to investigate and mostly, to pray!
After spending quite a lot of time on that, plus several related calls, I got three small packages ready to mail, made a list of items I needed to do today, and went to town. First to the courthouse to get a title changed, to the PO to mail the packages, then to Sr.Ctr. for lunch, and to give my sis Jeanie her birthday card and gift.
Then to the care home to bring Beth up to speed on the book's progress and ask her what dish she wants me to make for the dinner at the home tomorrow evening. (She wants 7-up salad.) and I stayed for the balloon lift-off which they had in honor of National Nursing Home Week. In our case, it should be called the balloon BLOW-OFF, because the balloons were out of sight in a matter of seconds. All the kindergarten classes from the nearby school came over, each was handed a balloon, also the residents had one each, but poof! They were gone in a flash!
It was 97 degrees here today and very windy. Ugh.
Anyway, enough of my rambling. Come and tell us what YOU have been up to, Larry and I will get lonely in here by ourselves! ;)
Well, Janet, I can't let you and Larry get lonely!
My day? I put the finishing touches on the financial report for this month for the Auxiliary and mailed the information and checks to the state office. I washed clothes. I went food shopping. I vacuumed.
Now aren't you glad I came aboard with all my news?
Hi, yesterday was SO busy that at the end of it, I must have been completely worn out.
Today? Well, I rested, and breathed, and slept, and took a few moments to read emails and check bank balances.
Tomorrow there's the Tuesday morning worship to play piano for, then scurry out to Olive Garden to meet my sweet daughter in law, who is in Nashville tonight to entertain a client. We'll have a quick lunch and she'll head back home while I come to meet a repairman at 1:30.
Most likely after that, it will be REST time again!
:D
It's good to be able to be thankful to little things - warm weather, that in Middle Tennessee our rivers are falling from near flood stage, to rest secure in the love of my busy little family, and to thank our Heavenly Father for His marvelous mercy and love to each of us.
Memphis, TN, however, is experiencing near record flood levels, so prayer for those residents are requested.
Love to all, Ruth Ann
Oh, yes, I have HealthSpring medicare advantage, and pay a small sum per month for additional coverage. It contains not only dental, but eyeglasses, too.
Then, since ladies glasses seem to press in on my temples, I've been wearing men's frames for 10 years or more. The frames I got a couple of weeks ago from WalMart cost $9. And, with the vision coverage, the copay for lenses and frames plus necessary coatings was $65.

My daze are all pretty much alike around here. I go to the gym each (weekday) morning and then home to eat breakfast and check whatever might show itself on my computer. Sometimes just reading my email and checking different social sites (this is one) takes all morning and into the afternoon! ::)
I have been getting my head ready to entertain the thoughts of focusing on preparation for my trip to California next week. I will be going on Amtrak, courtesy of my daughter Joy. The trip will take longer than when I drive, but be so much more relaxing -- and less expensive! I will be attending the 59th reunion of my high school class! Wow... 1952 was a long time ago! :o
I've been busily updating my "important information" and printing out the pages to give to my daughters. This includes my online account information, financial information, and who to notify if I should suddenly become missing. :) I think this information is important to keep up to date because one never knows what the future holds. I have gone through this stuff in the past ... trying to find insurance policies and accounts for my mother and, most recently, Tom. I still need to get my pre-paid funeral arrangements transferred from Sacramento to Coos Bay. :-\ Just haven't found that round tuit yet. :)
Okay, you asked for it ... and I know this is TMI ... now I'll return to the shadows and continue with my browsing and "observing" .... Y'all take care and I just may be back later. ;)
Hi everyone. I wonder where everyone is. Just Jane and I for quite a few hours. After a very busy day yesterday I had a very good nights sleep and a much lighter day planned today.
Our daughter called last evening to tell us she was being admitted to the hospital again (have lost track of how many times it has been already this year). She was having chest pain and apparently they didn't like what they saw in the ER so wanted to keep her for observation. That is all I know at this point.
IT is going to be another beautiful day today. I have just a few things on my to-do list for today and hopefully I will make progress on them.
Jane, your postings are always interesting. Most of us have little new happening beyond the routine but that is the way of most lives and I for one like it. Because we are friends and almost like family on these discussion boards we are interested in what the other person does for their day. It isn't so much what they say as that they came and shared a few moments with others. I know my life has been enriched by the friendships I have made via these boards over these last ten years or more.

On the way back to Anderson yesterday, Kitty said, 'I am sorry you had such a boring day today.' What? I loved it. Nothing but leisure for me! Kitty, Sara and I went to Kohl's and to a shopping center in Ft. Wayne. Just as we got to Kohl's, my Droid showed 16 updates to be downloaded so I opted to sit in the car to get them all done. Then we went to the shopping center for lunch at the food court and they were going to JC Penny's and Macy's. Again, I opted to find somewhere to sit and read. I finally went to the car and waited them out.
After taking Sara home, we went to a pizza place in Anderson and then to Photo Guild. I even got back home before dark!
Now this morning is another thing. I go to my doctor's office for a blood draw! I have prayed that Kathy is there...she's a great sticker!!
Then I will probably go to Bob Evan's for breakfast.
And I already feel a nap coming on when I get back home. I am tired.
And the weather is great. It was suppose to rain yesterday but not a drop fell. And it is to rain today but it is partly sunny. Forecast says it may get to 90 degrees one day this week....and then fall to the 50's!! @_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@

Well, today we go do our weekly thing at the CoOp. At nine Marbeth goes to Katy's Krafters, a group at the senior center that makes quilts to take to nursing homes and a few to sell at the hospital gift shops. While she's there, I go over to The Coffee Break, read the paper and converse with one or two people there. Then, at 11 I go, pick up Marbeth, and we go to the CoOp, then home, lunch, and the fitness center for some treadmilling. After the fitness center, sometimes we stop at the local Starbucks, then home to check on Christian Photographers, etc. Right at this moment (6:41 AM), I'm about to go wake Marbeth up so we can get things going.
A lovely sun filled morning
I have been busy and when I came here to catch up on the reading a delay came my way.
The Birthday Party that Sue hosted for her father went off without a hitch, a promised helper did not do her part but a first cousin arrived early and pitched right in this act of timing sure eased the stress.
The phone call was made to Mel saying their veh. had broke down and they were in need of company until help arrived, little did he know what surprise was waiting. Thank-you Sue
Janet: I wish you speedy success with the publishing of Beth's book.
Marilyn: You will be busy with the CD for some time.
Al: I am so thankful that we have Mel's company coverage as this pays for most expenses. The government pays for the eye exam Mel's plan payes for the lenses but we must buy the frames for us a pair of glasses usually cost about $300.00 Our frames are approx. $100.00 or a bit more even at the cheaper locations that is the going cost the prescription is 69.00 per eye at least I think for the most part is too much why not 69.00 for both eyes. Grumbling will do no good.
Larry: So sorry that Beth has so many problems.
Ruth Ann: Good to see you doing what your eyes allow for you to do.
I know that I have missed a few folk - know that I remember you anyway.
Judy: Good for Kassie.
I must be on my way as Mel will be arriving home soon from therapy and I also have past newspapers to get read. Following that when Mel gets home thank-you notes need to get done and in the mail
Wow! I'm so proud of all of you! Nice posts, each one interesting, because as Larry said, we are family here, and we care what is going on in your lives. Thanks for posting!
See, Jane? We don't even bite! ;) Have a great trip, going on Amtrak sounds like so much fun, and relaxing as well.
Ruth, glad the party for Mel went well, you are making memories. I think a surprise party for Darrel may be in the plans come October. He is sort of expecting one next year, for his 75th, so think we will do it for the 74th! :D
Larry, sorry Stacey is continuing to have problems. I can really understand yours and Pat's feelings on that matter. Glad you had a good night's rest and have a light day today.
Etta Sue, you do stay busy! And who am I to comment, as I do, as well. I wouldn't know how to do nothing for very long! Hope you get the 'good sticker' when you go for the blood draw.
I just heard on TBN that Heaven is for Real just made it to #1 on the New York Times Best Seller List!! WOO-Hoo!
Al, have a good day, and don't drink too much coffee! ;)
Ruth Ann, good to read that you are still able to do as much as you do. I know you're a blessing to all those around you. Oh, I wanted to tell you that if Beauty for Ashes isn't released in audio, I will personally read it for you on cassettes. You do have a cassette player, right? I should do CD, but don't know how. Hey, Curtis! Hey, Mark! Grams needs help.....again. :-\
I must go to the store for ingredients for 7-up salad!
Good morning to all. Larry, I am sorry your daughter is in hospital again. Hope she is doing better by now.
Etta Sue, you busy girl....no wonder you are tired! Glad you had a nice outing yesterday.
I am almost afraid to start replying for fear I will forget someone. Anyway, Janet, I know what you mean about calling on the grandsons for help! I have to depend on granddaughers. They sure have to rescue me a lot! ha.
Also, my youngest brother has made CDs for me from a cassette tape which I had put together many years ago...of our son who recently passed away. When he was in high school and in Choral classes, he sang at various variety shows and also at district competitions in solo and ensemble events. I had put a few favorites which I had recorded at different times, all onto one tape. After he died, I looked up the tapes, and found some of them not in good condition anymore, but the one...was OK, but I knew I needed it on CD so I asked my brother to do that. He sent me 10 copies. One of the songs our son had sung as a solo at church when he was a teenager, and we had it played at his funeral service. "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" He had a very deep bass voice, I mean 'in the basement' deep.
BTW, we still do not know the official cause of his death. He died alone at home, and his wife was at their business. So that meant an autopsy had to be done. She called the Medical Examiner last week, and they told her that sometimes it takes as long as 180 days. Not quite as fast as TV, huh? She feels sure that he had a heart attack. He had warning signs, but would not go to the doctor.
On Mother's Day I had calls and cards from all my 3 step-children, and our daughter here in town was with us, but that one missing phone call sure did hurt.
Janice I understand about that missing phone call. I did get an unexpected call from my daughter, which was appreciated.
Kass has gone on a trip to Toronto to a Buddist Temple, and 2 other "religions" I have prayed for her and continue to do so. It is a concern though.....much more so than the traveling to and from Toronto.
Larry I am praying for your daughter. I think you told us but I have forgotten. How old is she?
We have a beautiful day here, and our grass now at last is ready for the first cut. It is wonderful to look out the windows and see green.
Have a good day folks I will be back this evening. I am struggling with a computer application so this is my break from it.
Janice, I'm SO glad you have that CD of your son singing. What a treasure! I love those deep, deep bass voices. And I thought I was going to have that one missing phone call, but my youngest called after we got home; said she had tried earlier, as well. Of course, that still leaves two missing, but I no longer expect to hear from them. :'(
Toningt is the Family BBQ at the care home, I got the salad put together, so think I will go see if I can do something constructive now, as I don't have to be there until about 5:30.
Judy, does the school sponsor that trip to visit different "religions?"
See y'all later!
Hello everyone I have been here to read but I didn't post. I have been busy getting things done that need to be done before we leave on our vacation. Plus I have been trying to get some things done on the computer.
I had to call Frontier to get some tech help getting the Netbook back online. He sure was nice and got me all fixed up very quickly.
The sun is beautiful today I am hoping that the weather stays nice up at Sunriver for us. From what I have been able to look up on the weather channel it is going to be mighty cold at night. Therefore, I am packing some warm clothes.
Hi, friends, it's been Mothers Day all over again!
My DIL from Georgia called last evening and asked if I could meet her for lunch - COULD I!!!!! If she drove all those miles to invite me to lunch, YES I certainly could! :)
We had such a lovely time together. And, she brought a most beautiful card my son had purchased himself. The verse in it almost took my breath away. I think he's realizing some of the stresses of parenthood that I endured as a widow, and of course they are married and only have 2 children - I had 4. So, the verse in the card spoke to the rigors of rearing children. How very nice of him to get that card.
Then, my newlyweds had brought a tv for my bedroom a few weeks ago, and a friend from church came over and put it in, got my DVD player to work again (Comcast rep had put the cable in the wrong plug, so that's why I never could get it to work again), checked out my computer, I taught him about Skype, and of course, he drove me to the Comcast site to pick up the receiver and cable, then off we went to get the 3-way splitter and additional cable.
Now, there's a nice tv that I'll be able to watch while in bed - won't fall asleep on the couch as often, most likely! :)
Then friends called and one of the local restaurants has "steak night" on Tuesdays, so they asked me to meet them. While there, they gave me a really sweet friendship bype card and apologized that it was "late." My goodness, friendship cards are never late, are they!
Y'all have a great rest of the day, friends,
Ruth Ann
Well, here I am again. Praise our Lord for that! Our times are in His wonderful hands. Today is Winco day. Winco is a local foodstore that's like a warehouse. It saves us as much as 20 percent, and we go there every Wednesday. Marbeth takes about half the list, and I take the other half. We get done extremely fast that way. Then lunch, then fitness center for some treadmilling, then home to check on y'all. Well, TMI then! Ya'll want mundane, and mundane you get! It's supposed to be at least partly sunny all day, without much wind. If I had lots of money, we'd go to starbucks again after the fitness center - they're like a second family over there. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me - bless His holy Name.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%253Cbr%2520%2F%253E%2FNoahsArk.gif&hash=6906e13e7f00bad114e89ac81f6b3785576be7ab)
I love all your posts today. Love you chatty people!! Thanks from someone who only has cats to talk to at home!!
Well, I didn't get the good sticker at first. I got the nurse that stuck me twice once and then got Kathy! But I thought...she can do it this time. Wrong! She stuck my left arm...but it was flowing too slow. So she said she was going to look at my right arm. I asked her if Kathy was in. Yes. I asked her to get Kathy if she wasn't sure she could get a good vein on the right arm. So Kathy came in. She got blood but it was slow also so she stuck me again in the left arm and SUCCESS! But I was stuck three times!!
Then it was Bob Evans for breakfast and home. In the afternoon I took my book and Inky to the spare bedroom. When I was almost in la-la-land the phone rang. Kitty...asking me for help on the computer while she was at a friends home. Since I seldom take a nap other than Sunday, it took me about an hour to realize it wasn't Sunday! So weird.
Today is a nothing day! I am thinking of what I want to do before Euchre here next Tuesday afternoon. Priorities of what has to be done and what I would like to be done! There is a difference, right? First is a list of what I need to purchase! I have started that!
And Janice, I so wish I had recorded my husband singing and playing his guitar. I have checked all my home taped cassettes and none are of him!! I do have some VHS tapes of him but not singing. But it is great to have them.
Janet, is your 7-Up Salad in the recipes? I have heard of 7-Up Cake but not salad.
Today was the first day this year that I took my coffee and Bible outside to my Bistro table on the deck for devotions. Wonderful. Yesterday and the rest of the week we are to have mid-80 degree weather. Yay! Then the weekend it is to drop down to 60's. We had a thunderstorm watch yesterday but only got heavy rain for maybe 5 minutes. It was so muggy and sultry when I went to get my mail. Then the evening news was showing people east of us with ping pong ball size hail. That can cause a lot of damage! ^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+

Another lovely day.
It was our coffee morning and now home to do the laundry, and other normal jobs that need doing -don't think I like the idea of doing them though.
Later in the afternoon I have a chiro. appointment then I will stop at the grocery store on my way home.
It is so sad when some of you have children that are not willing to put past issues aside and call. Then again in my case even my nieces and nephews do not remember that I or even Mel are alive, that is today's world but so said just the same.
Ruth I try no to think about those of my kids who act like I am no longer alive, they won't even friend me on Facebook, I finally told my daughter that I don't have a daughter that I know. I do plan to take a trip down into the middle of California to visit some of the family one of these days when I have saved enough $$ to pay for the trip. I haven't seen any of that part of the family for 20 years.
I went to the gym, I have had good work outs the last two days mostly arms and legs being very careful of my back, no twisting on the ab machine. As I was getting out of bed this morning It felt like my back was going to start in again, but so far I have no more pain this morning.
Yesterday I got two more pages made for my website . Today I am going to get the baggies made up with the dogs food, I have to cut up the meat, I feed them the Natural Balance rolls of the meat. I am going to measure out the dry food and add the meat to it and put it in the fridge. Then I have to type up the instructions for Happy's meds.
Friday will be the laundry and finish the packing, shampoo my hair and sett out the rest of the food that doesn't have to be in the fridge, double check that and see if I have to eliminate or add anything.
Janice: Hugs and prayers for you and Mel.
Al: 20% off on groceries sounds like a good deal to me.
Janet: That sounds like a lot of money to me. You will find a way.
It is rain/snow here right now and the Needle Arts group is coming at 1 PM. I made chocolate chip cookies and just finished the snicerdoodles. House smells nice since the last cookies are rolled in sugar and cinnamon. This is one of those days I would like a dog but not to go out and walk that dog. We had a dog visit last night & Loki couldn't wait until he got his treat - he keeps looking at me until I go to the closet and we have a little ritual. Every visit is the same & you know he loves to come here.
I have had fun this afternoon watching a flicker pecking in the grass outside the Kitchen window. It was too far away for a photo op, but not too far to watch. I am wondering what he is after in the grass!
I wound up cancelling all my appointments today to wait for a return call from a Doctor's office. My they do take their time returning calls!
Kass arrived home last night and as soon as she belted up in the car she was asleep. I have no idea how the trip went, yes it was school sponsored, and am waiting for a report from her tonight. Unfortunately I have a wait as she works tonight. She will be away on the weekend as well, spring camping trip for cadets at Petawawa. She does love the cadet outings.
John is down in the PA area this week. He is solely on electronic logs and the dispatcher he is working with is needing to get used to this. Brian his normal dispatcher has cancer, it has moved outside the lungs, and is in the brain. He will not be with us long. Sad as he doesn't know the Lord. :(
Well I am off. I have been struggling with a program and it seems nothing I do works. :ticked:
Hi everyone. A very warm day in Georgia but very pretty outside. Really have had a full day with coffee, Bible study and then met a friend who is LDS and he took me on a tour of what is called the Bishop's Storehouse where they have a huge warehouse of food and emergency supplies, a canning kitchen where you can go in and put dried foods in number 10 cans or large sealable bags. You can make an appointment and go in and put your own dried food in the cans. They have certain canned dried foods that you can purchase. They have a job training center, health services and I don't remember what else at this facility in an industrial park.. He gave me a tour through the food storage areas. I met some very nice folks. All of the work is done by volunteers with just a few exceptions.
We then stopped for a bite of lunch and when we got to his home he asked if I would like to see how they store their food at their home. They are encouraged to have a two year supply of food on hand. I have recently become concerned that we needed to have some food and water stored in case of emergencies or disasters. Most of the dried food in the sealed cans can last up to 30 years if kept in a reasonably cool space.
I came home and sort of collapsed as was really tired and still feel that way and still have choir practice tonight. Of course, sometimes I come home revitalized from choir practice.
Have enjoyed reading the postings today and for yesterday as I posted early yesterday.
Our daughter, who is 46, was dismissed from the hospital late yesterday afternoon as the tests came back negative. We will be going down tomorrow to have lunch with her and visit with her awhile.
Janet, I think there is an easy way you can record your voice into a digital file with an inexpensive headset. I will see if I can find a program you could use rather than a tape recorder. The quality would be so much better and then would be easy to use. I remember several years ago I found a program that Ginny Anderson could use to record Latin phrases so her students in her online courses could listen to for pronunciation.
A friend sent me the following, which I really liked and want to share with you all:
It is NOT what you GATHER, but what you SCATTER
that tells what kind of life you have lived
Why go to Church?
If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this!
If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it.
If you're spiritually curious, there is still hope!
Why Go To Church?
A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them.. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."
This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:
"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this.. They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!" When you are DOWN to nothing..... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!
I think everyone should read this!
"When Satan is knocking at your door, simply say, "Jesus, could you get that for me?"
Larry, thanks for passing that on.
Yes, Larry, thanks. So applicable today! Glad to read that Stacey is back home again.
I am so excited, I am about to burst!! Yesterday evening I was in Beth's room at the home, my phone rang, and it was a lady from the publishing company. We had a nice chat, she asked questions about the book, I told her some about Beth, and she said she really feels that everything happens for a purpose. She said her job normally doesn't include writing or answering emails, she is really in acquisitions, but was heling out with the email and got mine and answered it. Anyway, she said she feels it was a God thing that it was she who read my email and then called me, because she has a son who has disabilities, and she feels Beth's is a story that needs to be told.
She encouraged me to submit my book ASAP, and promised she would flag my name and personally expedite the book's progress! It was wonderful talking to her, we had an instant connection.
So I called grandson Mark, asked him what time today he could spare me a little time to help me get it submitted. He said noon, so I was there! He and I went to Diane's house, and he fixed a few things on my laptop that have bugged me ever since I got it. Then he submitted the book, showing me how to do things as he went. He was in a blue funk, because his life isn't going as he wants it to, he is working hard every day and making pretty good money, but AVIATION is what he wants to do. So I had gotten up early today to pray just for Mark, and also talked to and prayed with him today. I think it helped, as his mood seemed to lighten.
Anyway.........When I got online this evening, I had a short email from Donna at the publisher's and she said she had already started reviewing my book. She said "I have laughed, I have wiped away tears, I have been inspired...and I'm just getting started."
Do you see why I'm so excited?? THANK YOU, GOD!!!!
Now I am going to try to get some good old shut-eye!
I came back to thank you, Larry for your offer, and will be hapy to find out how to do that, if Tate doesn't publish my book on audio.
Your tour of the LDS facility sounds fascinating. I have been hearing quite a lot about having food on hand. Putting it in cans would certainly seem a good way to store it.
Marilyn, have a good trip! You do take good care of those dogs. We don't have a dog any more, just Dinah Cat.
Ruth, glad you had a good day.
Ruth Ann, so happy you also had a wonderful day.
Hello to Al, and anyone else whose post I'm not remembering at this moment. I think my brain is tired and needing a rest. ;)
Nobody has posted since mine last evening! I think, just for kicks, I will tell you more about my day yesterday, in another post, this is jumping again.
Yesterday: Up early to spend time in the Word and in prayer; watched some Christian TV, did some laundry. OOPS! Sewer line plugged, water backed up into shower bases and in the garage where there is a drain.
Called plumber. Gathered up and carried out trash. Checked and answered emails, posted on CP. Got my computer bagged up, along with the new flash drive containing my book; got ready and headed out for Hugoton. Visited with daughter Diane while waiting for Mark. Mark came by briefly to get needed parts for sprinkler system he is installing at the school, so I asked what he wanted for lunch. He said meat lovers' pizza. Called and ordered it, went and picked it up. Mark came, we ate, then went to the house and got the book submitted.
Drove back to Ulysses, to the care home to see Beth and show her the cards I bought for her to give Diane for birthday and Addison for graduation. Went by Jeanie's as she had something to give me. Back home. Tried to get online, couldn't. >:( Called ISP help desk; as usual the girl said it is our router. NOT...Darrel was online upstairs!
Back to town for scrapbooking class; taking along laptop. After class, brought in computer to try on library wireless network. Nope. Decided Mark might have changed something in computer.
Went to Alco to shop for something for Diane's birthday Friday. Found some nice tops for her. Back home again, to find Darrel had cooked supper and had already eaten. But he left some for me! Ate; called Mark again, and he quickly solved my problem and I got back online!
Found the email from Donna at Tate Publishing!!!! Wonderful encouragement.
Sewer line unplugged by plumber, so finished the laundry and got it all put away. Watched the end of a TV program, went to bed, read a while and zzzzzzzzzzzzz ....until 2:30. Then awake and unable to get back to sleep. Ha! Talk about TMI!!
Hello all,
Sorry I haven't been in to post lately.... Been crazy busy with finals at school and in my college work and with Ruth. She has another new tooth so that makes 5. :) Ready for them to all be in but she isn't too miserable while she is teething :). Working on bottle breaking now and she does good for the most part just has a some fits at night when she is tired. Other than that friday is graduation here and we are done after noon tomorrow for the summer :). I am ready for a summer break. Anyways I hope you are having a good day and Janet is is good to hear about your book :)
Sarah
Hi everyone. Just a couple of moments before we head down to Atlanta to meet our daughter at the Shepard's Spinal Center to have lunch in their cafeteria. We won't go up to her apartment today. We have to be home by 2 pm as our air conditioner went out last night. I called early this morning and the AC man is to be here between 2 and 5 today. Sure hope this isn't going to require a new AC unit. He told me to turn it down to 50 and turn it on and go outside and see if it was running. When I opened the outside door I heard it running but also heard this terrible hissing sound. Came back in and turned it off immediately. Left a message with him about what I had heard.
Janet, what exciting news. It sounds like you will be on the fast track with your book. Glad your grandson could solve your computer problems for you. I put an item on my to-do list to see what I can find in the way of a recorder that you could use if you need to do so. The publishing company, if they put it out on CD, may want you to be the reader. Thanks for sharing your excitement.
Sara, know you are looking forward to a few less hectic days with the summer vacation from school. However, know with a young child you have enough to do to keep you busy.
Janet, what wonderful news! The Lord is surely moving things along for you.
Larry, hope you get good news about your AC. Don't you love the way they make such explicit appointments - between 2 and 5? ;D
Sarah, I really admire you. I never would have been able to handle both school and a baby the way you are doing.
I will be going to my insurance agent's office in Saratoga this afternoon to straighten out in person the mixup with my homeowner's insurance. I had arranged for the premiums to be deducted from my checking account and they haven't done it and now they want to cancel for non-payment. Grrrrrr!
At least it's a beautiful day for the trip, although I hate using that much gas. :(
Good morning, friends, yesterday was a busy, busy day, so I'm sorry I didn't peek in the door.
I'm sitting here at the computer drinking a bottle of cold water, but wishing I could say "Beam me up, Scotty" and be at one of your homes to share a cup of hot tea and maybe a scone.
:)
I happened to fall asleep with the TV on, and was delighted to hear Dick Van Dyke's voice this morning. He had been asked to be on Rachael Ray's program. Then, Rachael also brought on Mary Tyler Moore. What fun!
Larry, I sent that last phrase - the one asking Jesus to get the door for me - to my family in Georgia, and the 16 year old replied right away, "Awwwwwwww." She's a christian and little encouraging statements always meant so much to me even as a teenager. Maybe that will uplift and strengthen her today.
Love to you all,
Ruth Ann
G'day all. Read all the posts and will only comment on Janets. Your day made me tired just reading it!!!
It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Really need the grass cut before it is a hay field. Kass has to change the oil and put the mower deck back on. Hope she remembers about how the mower deck goes on!
A lot of computer work to do so byr for now.
I'm finally getting here ... still haven't found that round tuit! :-\
I have been on the phone a lot this morning, since returning from the gym. Urgent needs and I don't have answers except to pray. My (pregnant and homeless) granddaughter in Illinois is needing "complete bed rest" for the next couple weeks (at least) and there's none available for her ... nor transportation to the shelter to which she has been referred in Wisconsin. After much back and forth ... and prayer ... I sent money for a motel room. It is really a dire situation and I just can't go into details here. Please, whenever God puts it on your heart, will you join me in prayer for Becky and the whole situation surrounding her and her health? Thanks.
I need to get off the computer now, to clear the line for my daughter Dot to call .... I'm still on dial-up, y'know. :)

Good afternoon!! I am tuckered out!!
I decided yesterday afternoon to do some outside work. I got my Easy Rider...a plastic wheel barrel like thing...and rake. Leaves gather between my planter and the front of the house. My husband would have loved the job. Big ol' night crawlers were under the leaves!! I prayed that I wouldn't touch one when picking up the leaves and didn't. I dumped them in a hole out by the garage.
Then I got my extension cord from the garage. I went to the basement and got my power washer. From the road my deck has a white resin railing and below that is resin lattice. I didn't clean the lattice last year and decided to power wash it. I got the front done and the side steps and almost....almost passed out. I was so hot! I had a wet towel but it was almost dry! I decided not to do anymore. When I came in the thermometer let me know that it was 87 degrees outside.
So this morning after breakfast and devotions, I went back outside and finished the lattice and started on the deck. It is amazing how just water cleans the resin deck. Some areas were dark gray and now they are white. With the fan-like setting, it took that gray all away! Got that job done and turned off the water and reeled the hose into the hose reel.
Then to the garage and started the mower! I got the yard mowed, too. I opened up the vent around the house to the crawl space. I put the power washer back in the box. It is at the top of the stairs to the basement ready to be taken down.
Then I came in and was hungry so I ate a couple of bagels. I watched Ellen on TV and got my shower.
Now once I get caught up online, I am going to Pizza King and treat myself to a small pepperoni pizza!
I am sore already...can't imagine what tomorrow will be like.
So glad the new book sounds like it will be published soon! That was a Jesus thing, for sure!
And the LDS warehouse sounds amazing.
Okay, I am off to finish up online. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

The Bishops storehouses are amazing places. When I was a Mormon and Gilbert was young the supplied all Levies for him to wear to school. they also gave him tee shirts and underwear. Once per month we could put in a food order, of course I had to also work there for the food. The Mormons do take care of their own!!
I gave both dogs baths this morning, and they will have getting groomed again before they come back home from the horse ranch. Happy will be clipped short for the summer.
The sun is out now so I need to get busy and take them for their walks.
Jane I am praying.
Thanks, Marilyn, but she's not Mormon. The Catholic Services put her up in a motel for 3 days when she had the flu, but they told her they couldn't do it this time ... not for 2+ weeks. ::)
Jane I wasn't implying that Becky is a Mormon. that remark about the Mormons was in response to what Larry had said about the Bishops storehouse. LOL
A lovely day too not be home, I went for my chiro. appointment then on to have a long lunch and visit with my ex. sister in law. She is a very nice lady but does have her share of health issues along with having a son-in-law living on borrowed time yes it is cancer. On my way home I visited the family cemetery that is where my brother is resting his family has still not purchased a grave marker. Then around the corner and down the road to where my daughter works again to give her a parcel then started for home Mel called so turn around I did to go to a sewing store not far away to chat about there customer and my cousins death, now headed home but again I stopped at aunties with some groceries that I picked up for her, time to phone Mel again and as it is his 70Th Birthday it was dinner out, finally many hours later I am home.
Marilyn: About the family that wants no contact is so sad because I will go to my grave wishing for a sister that was not to be. I know of several that feel the way I do and why that is I do not know.
Larry: The Bishops storehouses sounds amazing, I am not aware of any such place in Canada.
Sarah: You are a busy lady.
Janet: Mel's aunt had a book of short stories that she would have liked to publish and not only was it the cost but getting a publisher. We were blessed with being able to get photo coppies, since then I put each page into sleeves meant for a binder all of that cost me in area of $50.00, she has passed away and I am so glad that I have done that just for myself..
Now for all the rest that I missed have a great evening and tomorrow as well.
Hi everyone. A few minutes before I need to leave for the senior center for coffee. It is the senior center on Friday's and not to McDonald's.
Yesterday was a busy day and both Pat and I ended up pretty exhausted but have had a good nights sleep so feel better. We did get down and had lunch with our daughter but had to get back home at 2 pm for the AC repairman. He was here about 40 minutes and when he took the cover off the AC even I could see what the problem was but didn't know what to call it. There is a little package type piece called a run capacitor that had burned out. He had the part, which cost $10. Of course the trip and labor cost $90 more but we had a nice cool house the rest of the day. That is only the second repair we have needed on the AC and it is 16 years old.
Don't have much on the schedule today and I am glad. My Ott light burned out last night so am going to have to get another bulb as I really rely on that lamp by my chair to use for reading.
Ruth, with the Internet people can basically self-publish with some sites that will help you do that and really not have the costs. Of course, if you want the books in paper form there would be a cost.
Marilyn, I have known several different people who were Mormans and knew that they did look after their own. One thing I did learn is that they have no paid ministers or staff.
Jane, so sorry to hear of the added troubles for your granddaughter. Sometimes we wish we could carry the burdens for our loved ones but that is not the way life is lived. Fortunately, we know that Jesus will be with her to help her carry the load if she has or will accept the help. It is unfortunate that these young people have no clue as to where their decisions and actions may lead them.
Etta Sue, now you have worn me out just thinking about all that work you accomplished with your yard and cleaning your porch with the pressure washer. I bet it looks great.
Ruth Ann, we never know what a little saying or story might do to brighten the day for someone else. I am happy you were able to benefit from the piece my friend sent me. I have some awesome friends. The older I get the more I realize I just enjoy people.
Jeanne, it seems that we run into more incompetence all the time. Do hope you get your insurance matter settled.
Well time to leave the house and get the day started. Going to be a nice one.
Good morning, friends, I awakened bright and early today with some things to "discuss with myself." :)
Jane, I'll certainly be praying with you about your granddaughter. The prospect of being homeless is so frightening.
We will surround both you, her baby, and her with our love and prayers.
Ruth Ann

Just want you all to know that I am praying for all of you and your families!
Ha! My deck looks like a disaster. Well, not a disaster but I think all the whirly-gigs from maple trees landed on my pretty white deck last night!!
Again I read my devotions at my Bistro table this morning. I even put out my umbrella! It looks nice...if you don't look down at all the whirly-gigs. After devotions I went to the garage and got my pruners. I have a redbud bush/tree. I have had to duck when mowing around it for a few years and decided to trim it this morning. When those little limbs get grown up, they don't move!! Redbud is a hard wood! But now it looks like a tree instead of a bush!!
I plan to dust today and then Kitty and I are going swimming. Lots to do between now and Tuesday afternoon!! If I don't get it done...so what! I don't need it done for Euchre....just would like to get everything done so I know it was done in 2011!!!
I predicted right....I am sore today!!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

NEWS FLASH!!!! I got a contract on my book!!! WOO HOO!! This HAS to be a God thing, no way things could be falling into place this quickly without His being in charge!
I have the contract signed and will be taking it to town to send back as soon as I finish this. They will publish the book in paper back, audio and ebook reader!! This si SO exciting!! (At least to me, it is!)
I got a case of food poisoning yesterday, and boy, was I sick. :P I have no idea what I ate that caused it, but that was the sickest I have been in years. My sister called and talked to me, I don't even remember that, and she said she couldn't understand me. I called her this morning, and was so surprised when she said she had called last night. Ugh. I'm sore all over and still have a headache, but at least I am able to function this morning.
Larry, glad your AC was an easy fix and not too terribly costly. I read all the posts, but am so intent on getting this contract on its way back, won't take time to comment on all now.
Have a God blessed day!
I read this and thought you would all enjoy it.
Make them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth.
John 17:17 NLT
Truth is unchanging
"Hey, Mom, guess what we learned in school today?" Victor took off his raincoat and dropped it on the floor inside the back door.
"Did you know that people used to think the world was flat?" Victor said.
"Did they?" Mom said, dropping her mouth in an expression of shock. "If it's not flat, what shape is it?"
"It's round," Victor said. "You know that."
"You're right," Mom admitted. They sat down in a chair next to a freestanding globe in the corner of the front room. "But all those years people thought the world was flat, was it flat or was it round?"
Victor thought for a moment before answering firmly, "Round."
Mom nodded, "That's right, Victor. You see what people thought didn't change what was true, did it? Let me ask you one more question, Victor. Some people say the Word of God isn't true. What do you think about that?"
Victor pondered his mom's question for a long minute before answering. "What they think doesn't matter, does it, Mommy?" Victor answered.
"You're right, Victor," Mom said. "Because truth doesn't change."
Thank you, Lord, for Janet's book contract - and thank you that I'll now be able to purchase the e-book form, so I won't lose out on the book! You are SO faithful in your love and support and care, so often meeting our needs before we even know that we HAVE those needs! We thank you for our other blessings, all of which are provided through your providence.
We bring to you our sister's granddaughter who is in such dire straits. It is absolutely true that since God has no grandchildren, we're certain you are loving that young lady and her child. We pray for special insight and understanding as well as the ability to give herself and her baby's lives completely to you, and that you will lead her in the paths of safety and righteousness. And, we pray for family members and friends who are frantic with worry. We know that we're told to cast our cares on our Lord, for he careth for us. I want to envision this entire family pulled close to your bosom, wrapped in loving care.
In Jesus' blessed name I pray, Amen.
Janet, you must be setting a record for a new author. How exciting this is and to have them do an ebook and audio as well as the printed book. It couldn't happen for a better person. So happy for you. Sometimes life is darkest before the dawn. God does take good care of us.
Janet that is fantastic news. Congratulations, I can't wait to read the book. I can download it into my phone.
I am back from the Dr. I didn't mention earlier that I did find a lump last night and the doctor felt it today. She spent about 45 minutes with me getting all sorts of information. It could be just and infected gland
On the 23rd I will be going to the hospital for a diagnostic mammogram and ultra sound if necessary. I will also be going to lab that morning for my fasting blood work and a lot of other blood work at the same time including the CA125, lipid panel, CBC etc. On the 25th I see Dr. Lawrence again.
We discussed many things including prayer (she prays for her patients) and holistic medicine. I was so happy to hear her tell me that her very good friend is an herbalist who travels the world collecting herbs and writing books. She, the Doctor, is open to natural healing methods as well.
The only thing that bothers me if it is the big C is having to face chemo and losing my hair,. Bah Humbug!!
Marilyn - I wonder who this herbalist friend of your Dr. is. Could even be my friend Kathi Keville, because the description fits - she travels the world lecturing and writes many, many books. I oughta know, 'cause I edited many of them for her.
I remember that Al. As her if she knows Dr. Sharon Lawrence.
Marilyn, you'll be in my prayers. As for hair, well I've had so many bad haircuts in my lifetime that someone once told me that it would grow back. When my mom had radiation and chemo, they told her that if she lost her hair, it would come back curly.
Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann curly is good. LOL
I know several women who lost their hair due to chemo, and it not only grew back curly, but in its original color, too! One should get some rewards for going through all that, right?
I'm still not feeling up to par, but hope tomorrow will be better!
Ruth Ann, thanks for that lovely prayer, and Larry and others for the encouraging words!
Good morning everyone. It looks like we might have some rain sometime today. It is cloudy this morning.
I think I will have a light schedule today. I have a little work to do for the Golden Games to post some pictures for tennis that were sent last evening. Then I plan on finishing up the Zane Grey story I have been reading. It has been very good and enjoyable. Think I have about 30 pages left. I will attend a meeting this morning and then spend the rest of the day at home.
Marilyn, I can understand how frightening it is to not know whether something lurks in the background. Fortunately when things are found early the treatments are usually very successful and perhaps this will just be as the doctor indicated and not something more serious.
Ruth Ann, women aren't the only ones who occasionally get a bad haircut. I have gotten to the point that I just tell the barber I want it cut short as it will last a little longer before I have to have it cut again. Sometimes I start to look like the shaggy dog before I get it cut again.
Janet, sure hope this morning finds you feeling much better.
Well, I just found out yesterday that I have developing cataracts, will probably have to have cataract surgery within two or three weeks. If you think of it, please pray that it'll be quick and uncomplicated.
Al praying for you. That is pretty quick for the surgery, they must be pretty far along in growth.
Janet Curly and my natural color would be great.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FMonkeys.gif&hash=5fa9564a795e4ed6e617182e976ae46b49a62266)
So many concerns of my friends. Just know I am praying for each of you for concerns and praises.
Swimming was tiring yesterday but a good tiring. When you get to the parking lot, you have to walk so far to the locker room and then walk half way back to swim. Every muscle in my body ached. Once I got in the cool pool and swam one link, I felt better. At first I didn't think I would swim my 36 links but I did and in record time!
We stopped at Wendy's for a bite to eat and then I took Kitty home. She had a funeral visitation in the evening.
I stopped at my little grocery in Lapel and asked if they could have 2.5 lbs of ham salad for me to pick up Monday afternoon! They informed me that they couldn't! What? 2.5 lbs. Not 205 lbs!!!! So I will have to go somewhere else and get it. I was going to make it myself but it would cost me more to make it than purchase it already prepared.
Then I stopped at Dollar General and got my paper items, a sweet snack and a salty snack. We have snacks at the table while playing Euchre.
Today is laundry, mopping the floors and dusting. I don't know why I put myself in a cleaning frenzy for Euchre. I guess so I know I got it done good in 2011!! (^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)

Today is rain and more rain.
Soon we will be leaving for my cousins memorial service visitation for 2 hrs before then the service at 1:00 by the time we get back home the day will be over.
Ruth
Al, I pray your cataract surgery will go well and with absolutely NO complications! Mine did. It is routine for those doctors now, but as I heard once, NO surgery is minor if it is on YOUR body! Also, I have been wanting to ask you--what subject matter did you write on in your books? How many have you written?
Darrel is pacing the floor, waiting on me to get off here so we can leave for Salina, so I think I'd better GO!
:) <3
Nothing much new here today, it is raining and the weather guessers are saying it is going to be raining during our vacation, with temps in the 60's during the day and 30° at night. Yippee it is going to mess up our vacation.
We are getting our things ready to go and we still have a few more groceries to get before we leave. Keith still has to put his bicycle in the Corvette before we put in anything else.
All this news to catch up on this day.
Janet: Congrats - can't wait to read the finished product or listen to on audio book.
Jane: Praying for tender care for your daughter and her baby. May they experience loving care.
Al: Prayers for your successful cataract surgery. You will be happy with the outcome. I had to have a little laser work after one eye and there is no sensation during the surgery or even on that touch-up.
Ruth Ann: Here is a Snickerdoodle cookie, sorry, no scone today.
Computer glitch today is: The Notepad notes on Yahoo have disappeared. Ugh This is important stuff. Ugh again. I spent a lot of time mending a quilt, for one of the children, which I made quite a few years ago and can truthfully write that mending is not as fun as sewing a quilt. Talk about heavy. I will wash the quilt on a warmer day as it is about to snow here. It is actually warmer in the mountains than at our house.
Thanks for y'all's concern about my cataracts. I've read up on it online (google), and it sounds like it's pretty routine. I don't know yet when it'll be, as I have one more appointment, this time with the opthomologist before the date is set. The Dr. who found it was just our optometrist. They say it's age related. Well, I've got plenty of that, so I guess I can't complain.
At the time I had my cataract surgeries, I was literally "scared to death" as we here in the South often say. I was doing quite a bit of graphic art, and was SO frightened I'd lose my livelihood. Instead of that, God gave me back my sight! I loved the changes in the colors. And, of course, everyone looked so much healthier! :) They even had pink in their cheeks!
After each surgery those who took me and I went out to eat, then I rested and used the eyedrops as told. My eye doctor sent me home with a little vase of flowers. And, with the first surgery, my friend who asked me to recover at her home had 2 cats, who promptly ate up my flowers. :D
Y'all have a great rest of the day.
Ruth Ann
This has been a busy day. Housework is done, laundry (at least ours) is done, and John's meals are done. Kassie's BF is coming over tomorrow and lunch is in the freezer. All in all a productive day.
I had a post ready earlier and poof to cyberspace it went. I will try to recap what all it said.
Al Yu will be fine with the Catarac surgery. AND you will be able to see again!
Janet Way to go on your book. I have several chapters of a book written for children but became discouraged and quit.....maybe I beed to restart writing!
Carol computer probs are the pits.
Ruth Rain rain and more rain seems to be the norm here as well...feels like we are in England! Problem is we are expecting a dry hot summer.
Larry take it wasy, don't overdo.
Ruth Ann the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is about 2 weeks. Hair grows and covers all.
Marilyn don't borrow trouble. As to loosing your hair, many people don't loose any hair. Read and memorize Phil. 4:8-9 That is one of my favourite passages.
If I have forgotten anyone, I am sorry, have a good day and a blessed night.
To answer Janet's question: I have a commentary on Revelation called "Comfort from Revelatio," I have another commentary on the Gospel of Mark, and another one on Romans. Then I also have one on Psalms. All are written with a view to simplicity and easy understanding. Most of them can be found here on CP under Manna for the Soul. I had the one on Psalms actually read by the publisher, but they didn't take it on even then.

Marilyn~I like that. 'Weather guessers'. Hope you don't mind if I borrow it some!
I am all ready for church after a great night's rest. I was tired. But the house is getting shinier with each project marked off the list! Glad I don't have to prepare the whole meal Tuesday evening. It sure helps for all to help you.
Today is church, Sunday School, eating out, a baby shower and Small Groups! One right after another! Busy day!

Good morning everyone. I don't know whether we are going to see the sun today or not. I have eaten by breakfast an am ready for church but it will be a couple of hours before we leave. The choir will be in the choir loft but our director is singing a solo this morning in place of the choir anthem.
I had a very quiet day yesterday. I decided I was just tired of being on the go and so after coffee, which is no effort, I stayed home the rest of the day and really enjoyed a quiet day. I cleared a couple of things at my desk, read a bit, did a few other things. Pat did go out and get a pair of shoes.
I forgot that at lunch time, when she came back from shopping, we went up to a new bakery cafe that opened two weeks ago here in our little town. They have just three different sandwiches but a large number of cookies, cakes and other pastries that they make in the bakery. We had a sandwich and will know to split one the next time as they were large, a bag of chips and for a reduced price you can add a cookie to your meal, which I had to do. It was a coconut macaroon with a chocolate base and drizzles over the top of it. It was a very large cookie and I had to bring most of it home and nibble on it all day long. It was very rich. I would call this a gourmet bakery and it is not inexpensive but we felt it was worth the money. I do hope they can make a go of it as it is something we don't have in this area.
Judy, sounds like you have planned ahead so won't be rushed today.
Ruth Ann, I think dealing with the eye drops several times a day was the most bothersome for Pat. The surgery has certainly restored her vision.
Al, our eye doctor told me the last time that my cataracts were just starting but that everyone develops them if they live long enough. I know that Pat had no pain with her surgery and after the first one was done we stopped and had breakfast on the way home as the surgery center was an hour away from the house. We had spent the night in a nearby motel to the surgery center as she had to be there at 6 am.
Carol, my wife mended a quilt for our step grandson's wife and said that never again would she tackle such a problem. It was a very old and worn out quilt but had sentimental value to the family.
Marilyn, maybe you will get a few days with sun during your vacation. It sounds like you are about ready to leave.
Ruth, I am sure the visitation and service made for a very long day for you all.
Etta Sue, I would imagine the little market gets the ham salad already prepared from a supplier and they wouldn't have time to order the extra that you wanted and have it in time. I remember growing up that my mother would grind up bologna and add some Miracle Whip and perhaps some cheese and make a spread for sandwiches, which I think was my favorite as a child. I hadn't thought of that i years. Thanks for the memory stimulator. :) Be sure and leave a little dust somewhere so your friends will feel at home. I would imagine they all go through the same exercise before they entertain.
Instead of saying snow and more snow or cold & colder it is now rain and more rain and yes not sun.
The funeral service was that of celebration of life, and Pastor spoke on Psalm 23. A very wonderful first cousin went home to be with her Lord & Saviour.
Then following the service we visited a fishing store that our nephew has just bought he does not have much stock but it will be nice when done.
Time to move on
Ruth: I always admire a celebration of life service.
Feeling down - our SIL has had a very stressful job for 1 1/2 years with terrible people who even call every day of the week - even on Easter. He wants out so badly but there is nothing in his line with the malaise (is that right?) Poor Feelings of the economy until now & this would be moving a long ways away. We have done it but it makes me feel so bad right now - praying for the entire year & half & nothing is changing for the better of the family.
Oh, well. It is what it is - my motto these days.
Great lesson in today's service and we do love the pastor's sermons. He told us about when this church was planning to build and all of the hateful anti-christian messages they received. Isn't that a shame? In a Denver suburb. Now, the place is huge. Today was supposed to be community service day and we had not signed on but---it was snowing a bit when we were there & just too cold for the outdoor cleanups they planned. 1500 people just to clean six schools so they will probably go next week - unless they braved the weather. We sat in the balcony and the music was more subdued so Don says it was better for him.
Yesterday, three police vehicles were parked up the street - it seems to be a domestic problem. What? They are older than us --- she changed the keys & locked him out. Something - I don't even want to know what happened. How sad for them.
Larry: Now, I am taking an entire quilt top apart that consists of 2 1/2 X 6 1/2 rectangles - king size. The bottom somehow became crooked and it has to be resewed entirely. Uff da as the Swedes say. This will take a week at least - boring.
Tomorrow is V day we will be headed out around 11am, check in time is 4pm it takes 4 hours to get to Sunriver but we need to stop at one of the stores on the way to get a steak just in case the weather permits BBQ'ing. Supposed to be snow and rain showers there tomorrow. and thunder storms for the following two days.
Judy I have memorized that many years ago and I use it frequently in my prayers.
also "By His stripes I AM healed"
Time to Praise the Lord and start our new week Here. (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=11749.0)
