Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Yes, Larry, thanks.  So applicable today!  Glad to read that Stacey is back home again.

I am so excited, I am about to burst!!  Yesterday evening I was in Beth's room at the home, my phone rang, and it was a lady from the publishing company.  We had a nice chat, she asked questions about the book, I told her some about Beth, and she said she really feels that everything happens for a purpose.  She said her job normally doesn't include writing or answering emails, she is really in acquisitions, but was heling out with the email and got mine and answered it.  Anyway, she said she feels it was a God thing that it was she who read my email and then called me, because she has a son who has disabilities, and she feels Beth's is a story that needs to be told.

She encouraged me to submit my book ASAP, and promised she would flag my name and personally expedite the book's progress!  It was wonderful talking to her, we had an instant connection.

So I called grandson Mark, asked him what time today he could spare me a little time to help me get it submitted.  He said noon, so I was there!  He and I went to Diane's house, and he fixed a few things on my laptop that have bugged me ever since I got it.  Then he submitted the book, showing me how to do things as he went.  He was in a blue funk, because his life isn't going as he wants it to, he is working hard every day and making pretty good money, but AVIATION is what he wants to do.  So I had gotten up early today to pray just for Mark, and also talked to and prayed with him today.  I think it helped, as his mood seemed to lighten.

Anyway.........When I got online this evening, I had a short email from Donna at the publisher's  and she said she had already started reviewing my book.  She said "I have laughed, I have wiped away tears, I have been inspired...and I'm just getting started."

Do you see why I'm so excited??  THANK YOU, GOD!!!!

Now I am going to try to get some good old shut-eye!

I came back to thank you, Larry for your offer, and will be hapy to find out how to do that, if Tate doesn't publish my book on audio.

Your tour of the LDS facility  sounds fascinating.  I have been hearing quite a lot about having food on hand.  Putting it in cans would certainly seem a good way to store it.

Marilyn, have a good trip!  You do take good care of those dogs.  We don't have a dog any more, just Dinah Cat.

Ruth, glad you had a good day.

Ruth Ann, so happy you also had a wonderful day.

Hello to Al, and anyone else whose post I'm not remembering  at this moment.  I think my brain is tired and needing a rest.  ;)

Nobody has posted since mine last evening!  I think, just for kicks, I will tell you more about my day yesterday, in another post, this is jumping again.

Yesterday:  Up early to spend time in the Word and in prayer; watched some Christian TV, did some laundry.  OOPS!  Sewer line plugged, water backed up into shower bases and in the garage where there is a drain.

Called plumber.  Gathered up and carried out trash.  Checked and answered emails, posted on CP.  Got my computer bagged up, along with the new flash drive containing my book; got ready and headed out for Hugoton.  Visited with daughter Diane while waiting for Mark.  Mark came by briefly to get needed parts for sprinkler system he is installing at the school, so I asked what he wanted for lunch.  He said meat lovers' pizza. Called and ordered it, went and picked it up.  Mark came, we ate, then went to the house and got the book submitted.

Drove back to Ulysses, to the care home to see Beth and show her the cards I bought for her to give Diane for birthday and Addison for graduation.  Went by Jeanie's as she had something to give me.  Back home.  Tried to get online, couldn't.  >:(  Called ISP help desk; as usual the girl said it is our router.  NOT...Darrel was online upstairs!

Back to town for scrapbooking class; taking along laptop.  After class, brought in computer to try on library wireless network.  Nope.  Decided Mark might have changed something in computer.

Went to Alco to shop for something for Diane's birthday Friday.  Found some nice tops for her.  Back home again, to find Darrel had cooked supper and had already eaten.  But he left some for me!  Ate; called Mark again, and he quickly solved my problem and I got back online!

Found the email from Donna at Tate Publishing!!!!  Wonderful encouragement.

Sewer line unplugged by plumber, so finished the laundry and got it all put away.  Watched the end of a TV program, went to bed, read a while and zzzzzzzzzzzzz ....until 2:30.  Then awake and unable to get back to sleep.  Ha!  Talk about TMI!!

Hello all,
Sorry I haven't been in to post lately.... Been crazy busy with finals at school and in my college work and with Ruth. She has another new tooth so that makes 5. :) Ready for them to all be in but she isn't too miserable while she is teething :). Working on bottle breaking now and she does good for the most part just has a some fits at night when she is tired. Other than that friday is graduation here and we are done after noon tomorrow for the summer :). I am ready for a summer break. Anyways I hope you are having a good day and Janet is is good to hear about your book :)

Hi everyone.  Just a couple of moments before we head down to Atlanta to meet our daughter at the Shepard's Spinal Center to have lunch in their cafeteria.  We won't go up to her apartment today.  We have to be home by 2 pm as our air conditioner went out last night.  I called early this morning and the AC man is to be here between 2 and 5 today.  Sure hope this isn't going to require a new AC unit.  He told me to turn it down to 50 and turn it on and go outside and see if it was running.  When I opened the outside door I heard it running but also heard this terrible hissing sound.  Came back in and turned it off immediately.  Left a message with him about what I had heard.

Janet, what exciting news.  It sounds like you will be on the fast track with your book.  Glad your grandson could solve your computer problems for you.  I put an item on my to-do list to see what I can find in the way of a recorder that you could use if you need to do so.  The publishing company, if they put it out on CD, may want you to be the reader.  Thanks for sharing your excitement.

Sara, know you are looking forward to a few less hectic days with the summer vacation from school.  However, know with a young child you have enough to do to keep you busy.

Jeanne Lee

Janet, what wonderful news!  The Lord is surely moving things along for you.

Larry, hope you get good news about your AC.  Don't you love the way they make such explicit appointments - between 2 and 5?   ;D

Sarah, I really admire you.  I never would have been able to handle both school and a baby the way you are doing.

I will be going to my insurance agent's office in Saratoga this afternoon to straighten out in person the mixup with my homeowner's insurance.  I had arranged for the premiums to be deducted from my checking account and they haven't done it and now they want to cancel for non-payment.  Grrrrrr!

At least it's a beautiful day for the trip, although I hate using that much gas.   :(

Good morning, friends, yesterday was a busy, busy day, so I'm sorry I didn't peek in the door.

I'm sitting here at the computer drinking a bottle of cold water, but wishing I could say "Beam me up, Scotty" and be at one of your homes to share a cup of hot tea and maybe a scone.

:)

I happened to fall asleep with the TV on, and was delighted to hear Dick Van Dyke's voice this morning. He had been asked to be on Rachael Ray's program. Then, Rachael also brought on Mary Tyler Moore. What fun!

Larry, I sent that last phrase - the one asking Jesus to get the door for me - to my family in Georgia, and the 16 year old replied right away, "Awwwwwwww." She's a christian and little encouraging statements always meant so much to me even as a teenager. Maybe that will uplift and strengthen her today.

Love to you all,
Ruth Ann

G'day all.  Read all the posts and will only comment on Janets.  Your day made me tired just reading it!!!

It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood!  Really need the grass cut before it is a hay field.  Kass has to change the oil and put the mower deck back on.  Hope she remembers about how the mower deck goes on!

A lot of computer work to do so byr for now.

I'm finally getting here ... still haven't found that round tuit!  :-\

I have been on the phone a lot this morning, since returning from the gym.  Urgent needs and I don't have answers except to pray.  My (pregnant and homeless) granddaughter in Illinois is needing "complete bed rest" for the next couple weeks (at least) and there's none available for her ... nor transportation to the shelter to which she has been referred in Wisconsin. After much back and forth ... and prayer ... I sent money for a motel room.  It is really a dire situation and I just can't go into details here.  Please, whenever God puts it on your heart, will you join me in prayer for Becky and the whole situation surrounding her and her health?  Thanks.

I need to get off the computer now, to clear the line for my daughter Dot to call .... I'm still on dial-up, y'know.   :)

Good afternoon!!  I am tuckered out!!

I decided yesterday afternoon to do some outside work.  I got my Easy Rider...a plastic wheel barrel like thing...and rake.  Leaves gather between my planter and the front of the house.  My husband would have loved the job.  Big ol' night crawlers were under the leaves!!  I prayed that I wouldn't touch one when picking up the leaves and didn't.  I dumped them in a hole out by the garage.

Then I got my extension cord from the garage.  I went to the basement and got my power washer.  From the road my deck has a white resin railing and below that is resin lattice.  I didn't clean the lattice last year and decided to power wash it.  I got the front done and the side steps and almost....almost passed out.  I was so hot!  I had a wet towel but it was almost dry!  I decided not to do anymore.  When I came in the thermometer let me know that it was 87 degrees outside.

So this morning after breakfast and devotions, I went back outside and finished the lattice and started on the deck.  It is amazing how just water cleans the resin deck.  Some areas were dark gray and now they are white.  With the fan-like setting, it took that gray all away!  Got that job done and turned off the water and reeled the hose into the hose reel.

Then to the garage and started the mower!  I got the yard mowed, too.  I opened up the vent around the house to the crawl space.  I put the power washer back in the box.  It is at the top of the stairs to the basement ready to be taken down.

Then I came in and was hungry so I ate a couple of bagels.  I watched Ellen on TV and got my shower.

Now once I get caught up online, I am going to Pizza King and treat myself to a small pepperoni pizza!

I am sore already...can't imagine what tomorrow will be like.

So glad the new book sounds like it will be published soon!  That was a Jesus thing, for sure!

And the LDS warehouse sounds amazing.

Okay, I am off to finish up online.

The Bishops storehouses are amazing places. When I was a Mormon and Gilbert was  young the supplied all Levies for him to wear to school. they also gave him tee shirts and underwear. Once per month we could put in a food order, of course I had to also work there for the food. The Mormons do take care of their own!!

I gave both dogs baths this morning, and  they will have getting groomed again before they come back home from the horse ranch. Happy will be clipped short for the summer.

The sun is out now so I need to get busy and take them for their walks.

Jane I am praying.

Thanks, Marilyn, but she's not Mormon.   The Catholic Services put her up in a motel for 3 days when she had the flu, but they told her they couldn't do it this time ... not for 2+ weeks. ::)

Jane I wasn't implying that Becky is a Mormon. that remark about  the Mormons was in response to what Larry had said about the Bishops storehouse. LOL

A lovely day too not be home, I went for my chiro. appointment then on to have a long lunch and visit with my ex. sister in law.  She is a very nice lady but does have her share of health issues along with having a son-in-law living on borrowed time yes it is cancer.  On my way home I visited the family cemetery that is where my brother is resting his family has still not purchased a grave marker.  Then around the corner and down the road to where my daughter works again to give her a parcel then started for home Mel called so turn around I did to go to a sewing store not far away to chat about there customer and my cousins death, now headed home but again I stopped at aunties with some groceries that I picked up for her, time to phone Mel again and as it is his 70Th Birthday it was dinner out, finally many hours later I am home.

Marilyn:  About the family that wants no contact is so sad because I will go to my grave wishing for a sister that was not to be.  I know of several that feel the way I do and why that is I do not know.

Larry:  The Bishops storehouses sounds amazing, I am not aware of any such place in Canada.

Sarah:  You are a busy lady.

Janet:  Mel's aunt had a book of short stories that she would have liked to publish and not only was it the cost but getting a publisher.  We were blessed with being able to get photo coppies, since then I put each page into sleeves meant for a binder all of that cost me in area of $50.00, she has passed away and I am so glad that I have done that just for myself..

Now for all the rest that I missed have a great evening and tomorrow as well.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Hi everyone.  A few minutes before I need to leave for the senior center for coffee.  It is the senior center on Friday's and not to McDonald's.

Yesterday was a busy day and both Pat and I ended up pretty exhausted but have had a good nights sleep so feel better.  We did get down and had lunch with our daughter but had to get back home at 2 pm for the AC repairman.  He was here about 40 minutes and when he took the cover off the AC even I could see what the problem was but didn't know what to call it.  There is a little package type piece called a run capacitor that had burned out.  He had the part, which cost $10.  Of course the trip and labor cost $90 more but we had a nice cool house the rest of the day.  That is only the second repair we have needed on the AC and it is 16 years old.

Don't have much on the schedule today and I am glad.  My Ott light burned out last night so am going to have to get another bulb as I really rely on that lamp by my chair to use for reading.

Ruth, with the Internet people can basically self-publish with some sites that will help you do that and really not have the costs.  Of course, if you want the books in paper form there would be a cost.

Marilyn, I have known several different people who were Mormans and knew that they did look after their own.  One thing I did learn is that they have no paid ministers or staff.

Jane, so sorry to hear of the added troubles for your granddaughter.  Sometimes we wish we could carry the burdens for our loved ones but that is not the way life is lived.  Fortunately, we know that Jesus will be with her to help her carry the load if she has or will accept the help.  It is unfortunate that these young people have no clue as to where their decisions and actions may lead them.

Etta Sue, now you have worn me out just thinking about all that work you accomplished with your yard and cleaning your porch with the pressure washer.  I bet it looks great.

Ruth Ann, we never know what a little saying or story might do to brighten the day for someone else.  I am happy you were able to benefit from the piece my friend sent me.  I have some awesome friends.  The older I get the more I realize I just enjoy people.

Jeanne, it seems that we run into more incompetence all the time.  Do hope you get your insurance matter settled.

Well time to leave the house and get the day started.  Going to be a nice one.

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends, I awakened bright and early today with some things to "discuss with myself." :)

Jane, I'll certainly be praying with you about your granddaughter. The prospect of being homeless is so frightening.

We will surround both you, her baby, and her with our love and prayers.

Ruth Ann

Just want you all to know that I am praying for all of you and your families!

Ha!  My deck looks like a disaster.  Well, not a disaster but I think all the whirly-gigs from maple trees landed on my pretty white deck last night!!

Again I read my devotions at my Bistro table this morning.  I even put out my umbrella!  It looks nice...if you don't look down at all the whirly-gigs.  After devotions I went to the garage and got my pruners.  I have a redbud bush/tree.  I have had to duck when mowing around it for a few years and decided to trim it this morning.  When those little limbs get grown up, they don't move!!  Redbud is a hard wood!  But now it looks like a tree instead of a bush!!

I plan to dust today and then Kitty and I are going swimming.  Lots to do between now and Tuesday afternoon!!  If I don't get it done...so what!  I don't need it done for Euchre....just would like to get everything done so I know it was done in 2011!!!

I predicted right....I am sore today!!

NEWS FLASH!!!!  I got a contract on my book!!!  WOO HOO!!  This HAS to be a God thing, no way things could be falling into place this quickly without His being in charge!

I have the contract signed and will be taking it to town to send back as soon as I finish this.  They will publish the book in paper back, audio and ebook reader!!  This si SO exciting!!  (At least to me, it is!)

I got a case of food poisoning yesterday, and boy, was I sick.  :P  I have no idea what I ate that caused it, but that was the sickest I have been in years.  My sister called and talked to me, I don't even remember that, and she said she couldn't understand me.  I called her this morning, and was so surprised when she said she had called last night.  Ugh.  I'm sore all over and still have a headache, but at least I am able to function this morning.

Larry, glad your AC was an easy fix and not too terribly costly.  I read all the posts, but am so intent on getting this contract on its way back, won't take time to comment on all now.

Have a God blessed day!

I read this and thought you would all enjoy it.

Make them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth.

John 17:17 NLT

Truth is unchanging

"Hey, Mom, guess what we learned in school today?" Victor took off his raincoat and dropped it on the floor inside the back door.

"Did you know that people used to think the world was flat?" Victor said.

"Did they?" Mom said, dropping her mouth in an expression of shock. "If it's not flat, what shape is it?"

"It's round," Victor said. "You know that."

"You're right," Mom admitted. They sat down in a chair next to a freestanding globe in the corner of the front room. "But all those years people  thought the world was flat, was it flat or was it round?"

Victor thought for a moment before answering firmly, "Round."

Mom nodded, "That's right, Victor. You see what people thought didn't change what was true, did it? Let me ask you one more question, Victor. Some people say the Word of God isn't true. What do you think about that?"

Victor pondered his mom's question for a long minute before answering. "What they  think doesn't matter, does it, Mommy?" Victor answered.

"You're right, Victor," Mom said. "Because truth doesn't change."

Thank you, Lord, for Janet's book contract - and thank you that I'll now be able to purchase the e-book form, so I won't lose out on the book! You are SO faithful in your love and support and care, so often meeting our needs before we even know that we HAVE those needs! We thank you for our other blessings, all of which are provided through your providence.

We bring to you our sister's granddaughter who is in such dire straits. It is absolutely true that since God has no grandchildren, we're certain you are loving that young lady and her child. We pray for special insight and understanding as well as the ability to give herself and her baby's lives completely to you, and that you will lead her in the paths of safety and righteousness. And, we pray for family members and friends who are frantic with worry. We know that we're told to cast our cares on our Lord, for he careth for us. I want to envision this entire family pulled close to your bosom, wrapped in loving care.

In Jesus' blessed name I pray, Amen.

Janet, you must be setting a record for a new author.  How exciting this is and to have them do an ebook and audio as well as the printed book.  It couldn't happen for a better person.  So happy for you.  Sometimes life is darkest before the dawn.  God does take good care of us.

Marilyn

Janet that is fantastic news. Congratulations, I can't wait to read the book. I can download it into my phone.

I am back from the Dr.  I didn't mention earlier that I did find a lump last night and the doctor felt it today. She spent about 45 minutes with me getting all sorts of information. It could be just and infected gland

On the 23rd I will be going to the hospital for a diagnostic  mammogram and ultra sound if necessary. I will also be  going to lab that morning for  my fasting blood work and a lot of other blood work at the same time including the CA125, lipid panel, CBC etc. On the 25th I see Dr. Lawrence again.

We discussed many things including prayer (she prays for her patients) and holistic medicine. I was so happy to hear her tell me that her very good friend is an herbalist who travels the world collecting  herbs and writing books.  She, the Doctor,  is open to  natural healing methods as well.

The only thing that  bothers me if it is the big C is having to face chemo and losing my hair,.  Bah Humbug!!

Marilyn, you'll be in my prayers. As for hair, well I've had so many bad haircuts in my lifetime that someone once told me that it would grow back. When my mom had radiation and chemo, they told her that if she lost her hair, it would come back curly.

I know several women who lost their hair due to chemo, and it not only grew back curly, but in its original color, too!  One should get some rewards for going through all that, right?

I'm still not feeling up to par, but hope tomorrow will be better!

Ruth Ann, thanks for that lovely prayer, and Larry and others for the encouraging words!

Good morning everyone.  It looks like we might have some rain sometime today.  It is cloudy this morning.

I think I will have a light schedule today.  I have a little work to do for the Golden Games to post some pictures for tennis that were sent last evening.  Then I plan on finishing up the Zane Grey story I have been reading.  It has been very good and enjoyable.  Think I have about 30 pages left.  I will attend a meeting this morning and then spend the rest of the day at home.

Marilyn, I can understand how frightening it is to not know whether something lurks in the background.  Fortunately when things are found early the treatments are usually very successful and perhaps this will just be as the doctor indicated and not something more serious.

Ruth Ann, women aren't the only ones who occasionally get a bad haircut.  I have gotten to the point that I just tell the barber I want it cut short as it will last a little longer before I have to have it cut again.  Sometimes I start to look like the shaggy dog before I get it cut again.

Janet, sure hope this morning finds you feeling much better.

Al Moak

Well, I just found out yesterday that I have developing cataracts, will probably have to have cataract surgery within two or three weeks.  If you think of it, please pray that it'll be quick and uncomplicated.
