Morning Devotional...

WALKING IN THE OLD PATHS
Jeremiah 6:16
By the late Jack Scott

The Shepherd's Psalm--Part (ii)

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He restores my soul;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever

In Part (i) of our studies on the wonderful Shepherd Psalm, we looked a little at the character and saving work of the One to whom David referred as "My Shepherd". Before we proceed to examine some of the amazing benefits of being one of His sheep, we shall consider the marks which the sheep carry upon them.

Phillip Kellar, writing in his book, "A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23", tells how upon purchasing his first little flock of thirty-five ewes, the former owner handed him a large sharp killing knife and remarked, "Well, Phillip, they're yours. Now you'll have to put your mark upon them." This would be a painful experience for each sheep, for it meant parting with a chunk of its ear, cut with Kellar's own chosen design. This peculiar cut would thereafter mark each individual member of the flock out as the shepherd's own property.

The person who hears the voice of the Good Shepherd and trustingly follows Him must forever bear the Master's Mark. This mark is described for us in Romans 6. We really should read the whole chapter, but for the sake of space, we will quote only a few verses.

"Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now, if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all: but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:6-12)

Death to self is demanded and can be a very painful process but it is very necessary. You see the Devil has his own flock, which bares his mark of rebellion and sin. When Christ redeems us He expects to mark us out with His own characteristics of love, obedience and holiness. As we read in II Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new." As someone has said, "We are not saved by our works, but if we are truly saved our works will declare our new relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ."

We must realize the kind of sheep we once were and remember the flock to which we belonged; "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:6.). If we also understand the tremendous price He paid for us, then we will not wonder that he demands that we bare his likeness.

Despite what we were, guilty and lost, wandering on the desolate crags of Satan's domain, He redeemed us, called, us, and made us the sheep of His pasture if we are His by faith. In all His own he takes delight and tends them with loving care. Even in the midst of their trials and difficulties, the Good Shepherd leads His lambs with gentleness and grace. We may sometimes feel that He no longer watches over us, but if we wait upon Him the dark clouds of doubt will dissipate to reveal the sunshine of His tender love.

Before we begin looking at the blessings of Psalm 23, let us emphasize the Shepherd's mark upon us. In Ephesians 2:8 & 9, we learn that salvation is by grace (unmerited favour) accepted by faith. It is God's gift to us and it is "Not of works lest any man should boast". But that is not the end of the saga, because in verse 10, we read, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

As James tells us in James 2:26, "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."

What kind of faith do I have? What kind of faith do you have? If nothing has changed since we first professed faith in Christ, a thorough self examination is called for. There are those who believe, or at least appear to believe, that we can trust in the Saviour and continue to live unrepentant lives. The Word of God emphatically teaches otherwise.

Friend, do you and I have the Shepherd's mark engraved on our hearts? If we can honestly say, "Yes, I have trusted Him and I love Him and seek to follow Him", then we can also truly say, "The Lord is my Shepherd" and from our hearts we can sing:

The King of Love my Shepherd Is
(Click to hear music)

The King of love my Shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am His
And He is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow
My ransomed soul He leadeth,
And, where the verdant pastures grow,
With food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love He sought me,
And on His shoulder gently laid,
And home rejoicing brought me.

In death's dark vale I fear no ill
With Thee, dear Lord, beside me;
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy cross before to guide me.

And so through all the length of day
Thy goodness faileth never;
Good Shepherd, may I sing Thy praise
Within Thy house for ever.

"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want" (Psalm 23:1). "I shall not want". Reassuring words but what do they mean? David had known poverty, heartache and rebellion in his own family. He had been a fugitive and a refugee. Warfare was fairly constant throughout his reign. Friends and loved ones had been unfaithful on more than one occasion. Few if any of us have experienced more difficulty and more troublesome times than David the sweet singer of Israel. Yet he could confidently declare, "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want".

If David's eyes had focused only on the things of time, he could have found no solace, no place of rest, no shady green pastures for his soul. David had found that place, where none but the redeemed of God can enter. The place of His presence, the place of peace. "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress. My God; in Him will I trust." (Psalm 91:1, 2).

If we are dwelling in the secret place of His presence, then we can experience the comforting words of the Psalmist "I shall not want." Perhaps one who is experiencing a difficult situation is asking, "Where is this place of His presence and how can I find it?"

The answer is not tedious or difficult , "that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height--to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." (Ephesians 3:17-19).

If we, by faith, are conscious of the presence of Christ abiding within our hearts we will soon begin to realize the immensity and the immutability of His love for us. Spiritually we need nothing more, and since Christ in us is our hope of glory (See Colossians 1:27), we can truly say, "I shall not want."

I shall not want peace and joy if I realize His inward presence. If I lose my peace and joy, even in the midst of tribulations it is because, for the moment I have ceased to abide in Him and forgotten His abiding presence in me.

Although the blessings of the Psalm are relevant to our spiritual state and our spiritual pilgrimage, it is also true that He meets our physical needs as well.

Our daily provision for food, health and shelter are from His bountiful hand. He may not always give us what we desire, but in grace He meets our needs.

What a gracious Shepherd He is!

"Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen." (Hebrews 13:20,21).

Good afternoon!  We have been to church, and it was really good, as it usually is!  I had to chuckle when Pastor Todd said that he speaks two languages:  English and Whinese!  He was telling us about a time in his young life when he was down in the dumps, feeling sorry for himself, whining and complaining (he thought he was praying!) to God, and the voice of God spoke in his spirit, "Dance!"  Well!  Of course that was the LAST thing he felt like doing!  But the voice was urgent:  "Dance!  Dance!" so he finally said, "Oookay" with no enthusiasm whatsoever.  He was alone in the apartment, but he closed his bedroom door anyway, and just began to move.  The more he moved, the freer he felt, and God kept speaking to him in his spirit:  "That's it, Todd!  I've got this, Todd!  You're a winner, Todd," etc. until he couldn't even remember what he was down about in the first place.  His whole point was that we are to praise the Lord with joyous song, with shouts of triumph, with enthusiasm!  Great sermon!  :) :clap: :rocker: :excited: :woohoo: :boots: :sidedance: :em:

Larry, that is wonderful news on Pat's improvement.  Darrel got up this morning and said he was able to breathe freely all night!  First time in a long time without lots of congestion.  Some is still there but he can feel the improvement already!!  Praise God!!

We watered the garden again yesterday as they say two more weeks of warm weather, and there are a lot of tomatoes still out there!  Yes!!

I put my cell phone down when we came in from church and now I can't find it!  And I have the sound turned off!  So back to the search!  :-\

Hi everyone on a beautiful crisp Monday morning.  We do expect to reach the low 80s this afternoon.  There is lots of activity at the new house across the street as this is the last day they have to work before the closing, that according to the builder, is to occur tomorrow.  I know they still have to build the back yard wooden fence that all of these houses have and they are now painting the columns on the front porch.  It should be a busy day over there.

I looked at my receipt from when I bought the laptop for Pat and found I have two years of warranty coverage as COSTCO provides the second year.  I will be calling them today to see what needs to be done to get Pat's laptop fixed.  I hope they will authorize repair locally but that is probably too much to ask for and I will have to send it off.  At least I still have the box it came in.

Today I will attend my noon meeting and then plan on stopping at COSTCO to fill the gas tank on the car and then get two or three items from the store.  At 4 pm Pat has another Chiropractic appointment.  That will be plenty for today along with the normal chores here at home and getting the evening meal.

Pat, thanks for the second part of Jack's writings on the 23rd Psalm and Judith for sharing the photo blessing.

Janet, I hope you have found your cell phone.  It sounds like your minister has a nice sense of humor.  Sure nice to read that Darrel is already feeling better.

Good news...  my hearng aid has been found!

I'm still battling the UTI but the upcoming visit of two of my three kids and the finding of the hearing aid overcome that problem!  :thumbsup:

Hi everyone!

Being down here in Virginia after 14 months is really something.  Doesn't feel as if I left!

Last evening we were blessed by the 8 children and Mum and Dad singing a selection of hymns and duets and quartets for about 15 minutes in a Thanksgiving Service in a wee country church in the Virginia mountains.  It was beautiful.  But I sure have to be very careful with my legs and arms and the pain.

Paul has to pick up a permit for his son Jim near Washington, DC so I'll go along for the ride.

It is good to be home with friends and family.

Pat, great that you are feeling better this year and enjoying the fall colors in Virginia at this time.

Jeanne, take care, prayers for you as always.

Thanks for devotions, so meaningful.

Janet

Welcome home, Carol!!  I have missed you!

Pat, good to hear from you!  Hope you're enjoying being in Virginia, and the singing sounds like something I would thoroughly enjoy!  Please take care of yourslf and stay safe!

Larry, always good to read your posts.  It is amazing how fast a house can be completed when the deadline is looming!  :)

Jeanne!!  So glad your hearing aid has been found!  And so has my cell phone!!  It had slipped between the front seat and the console and was in the floor of the back seat!  What a relief when I found it!

I went to the Dr. this morning and received a very disturbing report involving cancer.  But I am putting it all in God's hands and truly feel all will be well.  There is a bump I hadn't even noticed on the side of one nostril,she said is cancer, and biopsied it.  The more troubling one is in my lower lash line of the left eye.  It is a little bump that has bugged me for well over six months, but I was thinking it was just a stubborn whitehead, so when she said cancer, I was really shocked!!  :o :o  I have an appointment with an eye specialist/cosmetic surgeon/dermatologist in Garden City on Nov. 15.  Meanwhile, (and then!) prayers are appreciated!

I need to make a call, and then work on outlining my talk for Wed. night.  Later, peeps!  :)

I took my car to the body shop this morning to have the mirror replaced,  they said leave it for ½ day. Well I called about 30 minutes ago and they said oh in about an hour.  I hope they call soon, I don't drive after dark anymore and they close at 5pm. I have a chiropractor appointment in the morning and my hospice class in the afternoon tomorrow.

I think I told you all that I am training Freckles to also be a Service Dog, she is doing very well and never ceases to amaze me at how quickly she learns a new task. Someone said to me "Well Marilyn, what do you expect?, after all shes a Heller she is going to learn everything fast." She knows so many words, and the commands that I've taught her with those words. you all must be tired of hearing about Freckles.

Yes Janet she is a Blue Heeler. She is so smart, I've never had a dog that learns so many things so quickly.  Mostly they have learned a few commands and to shake hands that is about it. But this dog knows all the basic commands plus several more. Go say hello, to stop at corners, or when I say car, wiat, walk slow, go fast,  well just slow or fast wshen we are out walking. Get a move on, look left, look right,

Hi, friends,

I'm taking the late shift tonight.

Marilyn, it's great to learn about Freckles. Hope your health continues to hold up, for what y'all do together is such a blessing both to experience and to learn about.

Carol, welcome home. I hope y'all had a great trip.

Gordon, I do pray for your son's eyes as well as his spiritual condition. I have children who are out of the Shepherd's fold, and it greatly pains me.

Jeanne, what a gift our Lord gave you in helping you recover your hearing aid! I truly hope you will quickly recover from the UTI - they're not easy to contend with.

And, Janet, I, too have lost my phone in times past. How disconcerting it is to lose them. At times I rejoice when I find the phone like the lady in the Bible who found what she had been searching for. I, too, am dealing with sinus problems. Thank you for mentioning the sinus rinse. I should be doing that, too. It is distressing to learn of the possible diagnosis of cancer. May our Lord be with you and your health professionals as y'all work through this with God's guidance and comfort.

Larry, it's wonderful to know that Pat is improving. I pray for your strength and well being. You are such a blessing. It's great that Pat's computer is still under warranty. I trust it will be fixed in short order.

Pat and Judith - oh, how the words of the devotional plus the beauty of the song all enriched by the photos which augment the devotional gave me such wisdom and beauty to comprehend. I'll be reading this devotional for days to come.

I fear I've missed someone who posted. Do know that I love and appreciate each person, and those who sometimes don't contribute to the discussion but are faithful friends, I often pray for y'all, too.

May our Lord's loving kindness be expressed to us this day.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone on another beautiful day.  It is 62 degrees outside now but only suppose to go up to 72 degrees later this afternoon.  The big activity today is our Adult Fellowship luncheon at 11:30.  This is the day my neighbor will be speaking on the assassination of JKF, having been an eye witness to the event.  Pat also has a chiropractic appointment at 4:30 today.  Today is also our son's 53rd birthday but because of my commitment at lunch time and his having to work this evening we will celebrate tomorrow with a trip to one of his favorite eating places, the Chop House, which is a very nice restaurant with very good food.

They are working furiously across the street with the last minute preparations for the closing on the new home across the street.  They are doing the outside plantings and spreading the pine straw and it appears all will be ready.  Hopefully this will be the last day for all the workmen and vehicles on our street.

I did call on the warranty on Pat's computer.  What a farce.  At the moment I called the internet was working on it as it does intermittently and they said there was nothing they could do and I would have to call when it wasn't working.  They also said that if they sent a repairman out and he found it working that would be it he wouldn't try to do anything.  I am going to try an external wireless adapter on it as have several of them not in use that worked on other computers.

Jeanne, what good news that your hearing aid was found.  I know you are greatly relieved and certainly one less thing to be concerned about.  Hope today finds you feeling better from the UTI and know you are looking forward to your kids being there.

Pat, so nice to learn that you were up to the trip back down to Virginia and are able to enjoy some quality time with Paul and being out and about.  Enjoy the traffic around Washington, D.C.  :)

Carol, nice to see your posting and to know you are safely home.

Janet, another lost item found with your phone.  So sorry to hear you are going to have to deal with some cancer issues.  Is this something they can deal with using the MOHS treatment.  I had a carcinoma on my upper lip and it was completely healed with that procedure. The procedure  allows the doctor to know at the time of the procedure that all of the cancer cells have been removed and if not he takes another layer of cells.  He told me I would never had died from it but it could have eaten clear through the lip.  I will be praying for you in these next weeks working up to your appointment.

Marilyn, do hope you got your car back before dark.  Like you I am really not liking driving in the dark but still can do on familiar roads.  I have never know of a Heller dog before but she is obviously very smart.  I am sure you give her a lot of loving.

Gord, the Lord always sees of through our trials and troubles if we will only depend on him and seek his help.  I think most of our 80 degree weather is probably about over as we approach November.  I do hope your son's surgery on his eye is successful.  That diabetes does terrible things to a person as I know from our daughter's experiences.  Fortunately neither Pat nor I nor our son have it.

Ruth Ann, you did well with the late shift last night.  Pat is finally getting to the point where she is feeling to helping some in the kitchen.  I just don't want her to overdo and have a relapse.

Yesterday was a great day for postings here on CP, maybe even a new record number of posts.

Janet

Good morning!!  I have been up since 5, read some in the Word, prayed and journaled, then got my outline typed up for the presentation on Christ in Other Cultures for tomorrow night.  I pray it will be a blessing to those who come.

Thank you, Larry for the encouraging words re the possible cancer.  It may turn out not to be cancer, but the dermatologist was pretty sure it is.  She took a biopsy of the one on my nose, so we should know about that one soon.  I hadn't even noticed that tiny bump in the crease of my nostril!  :-[

I made a reservation yesterday, at Darrel's urging, for a cruise of the Adriatic to go in February!  We did that this year, but he wasn't feeling really well and missed quite a lot by staying on the ship. And this was a really good sale price, we are both going for the same price we paid for each of us before!  So that's our next big adventure to look forward to!!  :) ;) :D ::) 8)

I need to get dressed and go to the gym!  Have missed a few days and can tell it!  Need to keep this ol' body moving!

Larry, Marilyn's dog is a Blue Heeler--she just made a typo.   ;)

Have a God-blessed day, everyone!

 :)  Ho to all tonight.    I just want to let you all know that Dan had his surgery today and it went well.   This will not help his sight in his left eye as he cannot see out of it but the doctors did this as there are some new things being done overseas and one of the person's that had it has better eyesight so there is hope.  Thank you to all who was praying today and please continue as he did not feel good when he got home tonight.  God's richest blessing's to you all.    Gordon and Noreen. :thumbsup: :cp: :rocker: :rocker:

Gord, such good news on your sons eye surgery and the possibilities in future.

JAnet, now you have a trip to look forward to next year.   Yes, you are blessed with the faith to take you through this new health episode.  Hugs

I am missing quilting tonight.  Just so tuckered and a nosebleed made the decision for me.  It must be from returning to what we call nosebleed county.   Don has had a few episodes of not feeling quite right since we returned so we stayed in this afternoon.

Sick and tied of election but at the same time so grateful to have elections.

Carol

I forgot to mention that we met a wonderful couple on the trip, sharing many hours with them.   He shared that they had prayed to meet a Christian couple over the river cruise and said we were the ones.  so sweet.  They live near Portland, OR and plan to drive their little rv for a visit in AZ.   I guess I had better think about that later having just finished putting everything away.  Don always feels better at the lower altitude so we will be staying longer and longer.

Reading my "Jesus Calling" book again, it is spot on!

Marilyn

Good evening everyone. Janet that sound like a wonderful trip. It seems like I can't get Keith to take me  the places that he  has already been  in his previous marriage. Like the cruise to Alaska. Ther are so many places I would like to travel to and see before I am too old to go but I can't seem to get that into Keith's head that just because he ans been there  doesn't mean that I don't want to go. I do!!. Maybe I will just have to  go by myself, or take Gilvbert or one of the grands along. It is very disapointing though, that Keith doesn't want to go.

Hi, friends,

It's so good to see several of us here at CP today. Maybe my night shift won't be as late as last night. I was burdened about several things that kept me awake so, I finally arose and came to the computer for a while.

Thankfully, one task hanging over me is completed, I felt good because I did a couple of good things with the cleaning lady. And had a nice conversation with a close friend.

It's exciting to see what y'all are doing. I think I'm turning into an old "knot on a log" as one of my grandmothers used to say when folks weren't accomplishing as much as, in her judgment, they could have been doing. :)

At any rate, may our Lord bless each of you with His matchless grace today.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

 :)  Marilyn  I guess you missed my post about my son Dan.  His surgery went well but it does not help his left eye as he does not have sight in it. This is hopefully for the future as there has been some advanced done in other parts of the world and that could happen here maybe.  Thanks for asking.  God Bless.   Gordon. :thumbsup: :cp:

Hi everyone on this Wednesday morning.  We are suppose to only get into the mid-70's this afternoon.  This should be a very enjoyable day as we will go out to celebrate Scott's 53rd birthday with a nice lunch at the Chop House Restaurant.  Even though he has to work tonight he wanted to go ahead with lunch and he said he just wanted to spend some time with us, which is appreciated.

I haven't decided whether I will go to the evening meal at the church or not.   I also plan on a quick trip to the pharmacy at Walmart to pick up a prescription and will do that as soon as they open.  My neighbor's talk on the JFK matter was very well received by the lunch group yesterday and a number of the folks came up to him to discuss it further.  So it will be a full time.

They apparently didn't get closed on the new house across the street yesterday and I have seen the builder over there this morning and now the painters have returned.  There must have been some delay.

Janet, glad you and Darrel are up to scheduling another cruise so Darrel can see what he missed the last time and you will undoubtedly see things you missed on the last cruise.  That sounds like a wonderful price.  One has to wonder if the world conditions isn't having a serious impact on vacationing travel abroad.

Gord, thanks for letting us know that Dan's surgery went well.   I do hope he feels better today.

Carol, it sounds like you all need a few days to recover from your trip.  I think the majority of the country is sick and tired of this election.  As soon as this one is over they will start talking about the next one.  It seems to never let up.  It sounds like you met some very nice friends.  One can never have too many friends.

Marilyn,  my grandmother took me on a trip from Missouri to California when I was 16 years old.  It was a wonderfully memorable trip that we made on the old El Capitan train.  I do hope you get to do some traveling while you are still able to do so.

Ruth Ann, I do hope your burdens have been lifted from your mind by now and that your day yesterday was a good one and today will be even better.

Hi everyone on an overcast morning but no rain predicted.  I have a very light day planned today with only a quick stop at the Credit Union to cash a check and then will pick up my friend and we will go to coffee.  I won't be returning back downtown to attend the normal Wisdom group as the pastor is having some shoulder surgery this morning.  I have a couple of tasks I plan on doing in the kitchen and hopefully can take the rest of the day quietly and restfully.  Yesterday was as busy as I want.  We did take Scott out to a nice lunch, which we all enjoyed and then I did go to the Wednesday night dinner but ate very lightly as had finished a big lunch no too many hours before.

Hope all are doing well today.

Marilyn

Good Morning, today is the rry friends luncheon and monthly meeting. We are having lunch at a Thai restaurant so I am thinking of maybe having the Pineapple Shirmp Curry.

Larry it must have been a wonderful bonding time for you and your grandmother.

Hi from Williamsburg, VA.

We've had a couple of really nice days here.  Lovely meals and good fellowship with Paul's brother and sister-in-law.

Today we went to a presentation of the Timeshare that Rolf and Lorraine own a part of and both Paul and I got $100.00 Visa gifts cards each just for sitting through this and then saying "No thanks!".  :)

We go back to Winchester, VA in the morning.  Then I leave for Guelph early on Tuesday morning.

We're not seeing the Historical things in Williamsburg this time.  I'm just not well enough yet to take it all in.  But there will be a time later.

So good to hear you're having a nice time, Pat.  And you  wise not to overdo!

I am beyond weary, just remembered I didn't post this morning when I read all the messages, and just too tired to do it now.

Love you all!

Hi everyone on this Friday morning.  Once again we will be in the low 80's this afternoon.  I really had an most enjoyable day yesterday as  wasn't rushed about anything.  I didn't have to leave coffee at a specific time yesterday, which was enjoyable.  Today may be very similar as the only thing on the schedule is a 10:45 appointment for Pat with the eye doctor.  We then plan on eating our main meal of the day out at lunchtime.  That will be it for today.  Last evening we watched the news and Wheel of Fortune and then turned off the TV and we both listened to our recorded books for the evening.

I am pretty certain the new home across the street was closed yesterday as the real estate sign has been moved out of the yard and late yesterday afternoon I saw a couple of vehicles across the street with things being unloaded from the back of one of the vehicles.  The outside lights were left on all night, which hadn't happened before.  I look forward to meeting our new neighbors.

Marilyn, that trip was a wonderful time and believe me I was already bonded to my beloved grandmother as my sister and I spent a lot of time with her and my grandfather, while he was still living.  She was a wonderfully loving person who always greeted us with out stretched arms regardless of what she was doing.  I have never eaten pineapple shrimp curry and only eaten in a Thai restaurant once or twice in my life.

Pat, glad to read you are having a good time and certainly wise to pass up doing tourist things like going through Williamsburg until you feel up to it.  We visited there many years ago when the kids were six or seven years of age.  Are you driving yourself back to Guelph or will Paul take you back?

Janet, hope you were able to get a good nights sleep last night.  When that weariness strikes us it is hard to keep going and good to rest.

Carol

Good Day!  My laptop is semi-working.  It went back to Windows 7 and will stay because we don't want to pay for #10.  Not everything is working.  Two years old laptop.   :(

Don had one side of his nose cauterized this morning but has to wait quite some time before they will do the other side.  Poor guy, this has kept us from doing much - he has had problems on his walk - sleeping, and we are careful to drive.

Otherwise, we took time off yesterday to go into the hills, a beautiful drive through the rocks to a small town near where we used to live.  We had an expensive but great breakfast - well, they do have to tote the groceries to that place.  Called, The Cow Cafe.  Don't ask me why.  Never asked. We went to an old park and sat on a bench - view is a gift from God.   Today, I have a trunk load of donations to Salvation Army and thinking we may take time for a coffee in the area.  Streamlining this house.

Ruth Ann:  You are NOT a knot on a log!  If you ever take time for yourself, it is well deserved.

Pat:  That was easy money to a deserving couple.   :cool:

Hi, friends,

I've had a couple of very busy days, which included early voting (I may do absentee ballot next time), fetching groceries, counseling with a friend, picking up some things from the hardware store, mailing a package, for starters.

Now, I feel tired, and may "close down this place" early this evening.

Thanks y'all for keeping us up to date with your lives. I do so much appreciate your participation.

May our Lord richly bless each of us according to His knowledge of what we need.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

We're back in Winchester and I'm very, very tired.  It's about a 3 3/4 hour journey and we stopped at an Outlet Mall in Williamsburg but didn't buy much.   Just didn't feel like walking.
